I was very aware of this back when I was playing it, and it's shaped a lot of my headcanons about Ariane's relationships with the Scions (she's very close to them now, post-Endwalker, but it took a long time to get there and early on she struggled to connect with them), but re-reading dialogue from the ARR patches is like... wow these people were really cavalier with the WoL's safety for a while there.

Like I don't want to single out any one character because really they all do it, but I was just reading the part where Moenbryda arrives and they're working out the plan to follow the aether trail and figure out where Lady Iceheart is, and Moen's all like "This is super dangerous btw. Should be fine though! If you die it'll be quick, anyway. So, ready to get started?" and Minfilia's like, "Sure thing bestie :) " and the WoL is standing there like, Hi. Is anyone going to ask me what I think, seeing as it's definitely me you're going to send in there? No? Okay. Cool.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually like that the WoL was not the center of attention in Dawntrail because my god, after the shit they went through in Shadowbringers and Endwalker they deserved a break.

More things I had forgotten from the ARR patches: how Alphinaud basically accuses Aymeric to his face of manipulating the Scions on behalf of the Holy See for their own ends, and Aymeric just calmly looks him in the eye and is like, Wise up, kid. You and I want the same things here. It's such good foreshadowing for the fact that Alphinaud really is not as politically savvy as he thinks he is. But it's also such a great character moment for Aymeric, who is seasoned in politics and knows when to speak and when to keep his mouth shut and how to gracefully work around the obstacles laid in his path. By his measured response to Alphinaud (whom he undoubtedly recognizes as a precocious teenager shooting his mouth off thinking he's being clever), and his amiable response when Alphinaud relents and apologizes, not only does he preserve the arrangement with the Scions but he comes out looking like the magnanimous one in that situation, with the other party contrite and eager to demonstrate their cooperation.
