Theater Brat 🎭 pt. 2
Didn't expect to make this to turn into a series but due to popular demand I gotcha guys! Also I got the other part set too
Support me on Ko-Fi ☕️
Part two Also kinda Fluffy + bit of Angst
Tumblr media
Buggy couldn't lie- he had enjoyed his time with you. Greatly- often whining and throwing what was equivalent to a temper tantrum when others watched over him, so you had become essentially in charge of his head of sorts.
You'd feed him, humor him with your smart comebacks and even shared a interest with him. That and he couldn't help but find you attractive, which he often exploited in a series of dirty jokes. The two of you could judt sit for hours and talk about different play, or whatever came to mine. He had never had a person in his life he could do this with- Even Shanks hasn't been this open to conversation.
Buggy often talking about different things he had done in his young life in order to love the theater. Even admitting in some way it was for attention he went into his performing roles. Laying on your bed you looked to Buggy who was on his respected spot on the nightstand.
"Well, Buggy I'm sorry to Rain on your parade but- It doesn't sound like Shanks betrayed you-" You deadpanned.
"But he did! I would have been rich and started up my crew early! I could have done so much!!" He yelled, Angry just thinking about his old friendemy- you chuckled
"It sounded like an accident and then he saved you- honestly you should be happy, You're a feared Pirate Captian like you wanted and have abilities to boot" You pointed out, Smiling as you watched the gears turn in his head at your words. Before he replied your bedroom door slammed open- Zoro standing there with a frown at the sight of the two of you.
He had grown very suspicious over the freindly relationship you'd develop with Buggy. While no one else spoke on it and Even Luffy thought in some way it was funny, Zoro had been very resevered and his attitude growing a bit frosty at you.
"We are landing in Tangerine Town soon-" He said calmly, walking forward and picking up Buggy and Tossing him in the burlap sack quickly. Ignoring the Fuss from the head as he shot you a cold look.
"Be ready" He said before leaving with Buggy head. It was rather uncomforble being in the town and seeing Nami with her village- a bubble of resentment there even when learning from her sister and later Nami herself what had taken place and sobbing to Luffy for help. The whole time Buggy having been silent on Zoro's hip... listening. That evening when everyone was trying to rest for the fight in the morning to help Nami and her Village you heard shuffling from the bag Buggy was in-
"(Y/N) get out now.... Arlong is too strong.. please" You heard him whisper. But turned away and continued to sleep. Hoping he thought you asleep...
At daybreak the plan was set heading to Arlong Park to liberate the people, As the battle started it was like chaos broke out, Fishman surrounding you all and beginning to attack- Your specialty wasn't fighting but you tried your hardest. Eventually being that you couldnt help but notice a headless body hanging next to stuffed animals.
Making your way towards it, you pulled out the short Dagger you'd been using to defend yourself. Ready to help cut the restraints that held him up, However as you got close you saw a larger Fishman appear next to the shack, He looked similar to that of a pufferfish- he was twice your size and cackled at seeing you, Holding a massive sword which he swung at you and you barely dodged.
A scream ripped from you as you dodged and ran- A Dagger wasn't going to beat a giant pufferman with a damn claymore. You ran into the forest, hearing heavy footsteps behind you which made you glance back.
Seeing Pufferfishman chasing you ran as fast as you could. Your lungs burning as he tried to outrun him. Tears brimming in your eyes as his quills pulled and he shot out poisonous darts.
While you tried to weave through the the trees it seemed lucky wasn't on your side- as one of the poisonous darts stuck in your arm. You screamed in pain and stumbled, trying to keep a running bur the pain felt almost unbearable. Stumbling to the ground as you held your arm- it felt like fire.
"Hahaha! Such weak things you humans are!" The Fishman yelled, getting closer to you as he puffed up to deliver a final blow.
"Chop Chop Canon!"
Two arms shot out with knives attached, Slicing the Fishman down the sides- cutting off effectively its arms. Before a flying hand turned and sliced off the head. The Fishman crumbling to the ground before your feet as the arms returned to its owner-
Buggy panted as he was covered in blood ot seemed having killed some more of Arlongs men to find yoh. Rushing to you quickly as you held your side, you gasping in pain as you felt the harsh burn of the poisonous dart in your skin tears rolling down your cheeks as you watched Buggy look over the injury. Using his gloved hand and in one fluid motion yanking out the dart making you scream in pain.
"I know I know. Bare with me just a bit more Doll"
He muttered. Pulling off his bandana first before leaning forward and putting his lips to the wound before starting to suck and spit out the mix of poison and blood. Holding your arm tightly to keep it from spreading as quickly as possible as he worked.
After a few moments of this he tied his bandana tightly over the wound. Looking over your face, noting the pale appearance.
"Come with me (Y/N) we need to leave my shop is close-!" He said ready tonpull you but you quickly resisted. Pulling back slightly.
"I can't go with you Buggy- I have to stay with my crew..."
Buggy grabbed your hand, Looking you in the eyes like he wanted to say more, fight, throw his fit or even beg. However he gave only a saddened sigh and released you.
"You really don't want to come with me?..." Buggy asked, it was odd- your chest hurt at seeing him in such a way. It wasn't exactly pathetic but it was like you had kicked a puppy..
"Just N-Not now- I did promise to draw one of your shows afterall. But right now my crew needs me-" You say, figuring this was the best option. His eyes softened in disappointment but he nodded non the less.
Buggy looked up, seeing the figure of Usopp running it looked like he had faced his own battle already. He looked back at you and carefully released your hand, backing away before he whistled loudly to catch Usopp attention before bolting. The fellow strawhat seeing you and rushing to your side.
Usopp helped you up, frantically ranting about how dangerous this all was before trying to lead to back to the group. Once the battle ended and the crew ended up back at Tangerine town you received the antidote for the poison which luckily had been mostly sucked out before it took effect. Laying by the fire you stared tried to let the day roll off you, it had been too eventful and you didn't know how to feel. Buggys disappointed eyes Seeming to appear everytime you closed them. A shuffle of someone sitting next to you drew you from your thoughts, seeing Zoro seated next to you with his second plate.
"He helped you didn't he- The clown?" Zoro asked bluntly, staring straight ahead. You looked to him softly before nodding and messed with the bandana still tied to your arm.
"Yes..." You mutter softly, Zoro giving only a grunt in reply before continuing his meal. A uncompleted silence falling over the two of you. Nothing else was said and while you enjoyed the party, you couldn't help but feel conflicted non the less.
That night back on the Going Merry you felt... Uneasy? Tossing and turning- Was it because you had gotten so used to Buggy being there? His head laid on a Pillow next to the nightstand? You sighed, Rolling over again to stare out the window. The movement of the waves finally starting to lull you to sleep, the long day slipping behind you as you felt relaxed enough to ignore any odd feelings.
"Mmm!?" You hummed, eyes wide as you felt a form pinning you down a hand placed tightly over your mouth to keep from screaming. Blinking quickly your eyes trg focused on the form above you.
"Don't scream" You hear the hushed voice whisper in your ear- A shiver running through your form as you recognize the voice. Buggy- Seeing him above you, it was far different then the disheveled head you had grown uses to- He was clean with fresh makeup, a few peices of his blue hair having slipped from his bandana and hat indicating it was freshly washed paired with the sweet apple scent that wafted off him.
Slowly he removed his hands from your lips, glancing at Nami's bed to make sure she was still asleep before meeting your gaze.
"Buggy? What the hell are you doing here?" You whispered harshly. Trying to sit up for a second but he gently pushed you back down into the bed.
"Well.. I made a promise to you that you'd see one of my shows- without the 'unpleasant bits" He used quotation fingers at the unpleasant bits, his eyes not helping to roll but he smiled down at you anyway. Paired with traveling down to snag a peak at the rest of your sleep attire- Which both made you blush lightly and pinch what was the closest to your hands- in this case his thigh.
"Oh~ Kinky-"
"No-" You give a faux glare, before glancing around quietly. One show couldnt hurt right? It wasn't like the crew would know about about it-
"Fine- One show" you whisper out, a wide smile pulling at Buggy face as he climbed off you gently. Fixing his large hat like he was preparing for something bigger.
"Good, and just to make it easier- Sorry (Y/N)" He said softly, holding up the stumble where his left hand should have been. You look at him confused before turning to see his hand floating next to your head as he squeezed a Muggy Ball. The red smoke filling your lungs as the world started to spin, as the world turned black you felt warm hands grab you.

One Piece Live Action Episode 5 EAT AT BARATIE!
Tumblr media
It's hard being a One Piece fan. We celebrating the success of the series, then given the best episode in the anime and then the manga has just been serving.
Episode 5 has been my favorite episode in the season so far. But that may change soon cause I said I liked Episode 4 after I watched it.
I felt a little for Little Luffy in the flashback. Maybe because Garp was an actual human being and Little Luffy wasn't doing his cute little whine when his Grandpa was scolding him that I was actually sad for Luffy not having someone to support his dream of piracy.
Tumblr media
But Garp was still Garp and I know he cares about his grandson. I still cry during the flashback when Luffy was climbing up the platform to Ace. Garp was carrying Luffy home and Garp was apologizing for being such a cruel grandpa and that maybe he wanted a different grandpa. But Luffy just nuzzled his head into his grandpa's back and called out to him in his cute little tone and Garp said they'd have a feast back home because he took a lot from the marine ship.
Tumblr media
Damn. They're about to give Garp the Fist of Love and Galaxy Impact
Tumblr media
I could almost hear him say "As expected of my grandson"
Tumblr media
Luffy willing to stand up to his grandpa for his dream. Even if it meant that he may be arrested.
Tumblr media
I swear without Nami they'd be broke and lost at sea.
Tumblr media
The dynamic between Nami and Zoro, being the first two people Luffy ever recruited was so brother-sister looking after their younger brother coded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The set designer for this show deserves all the awards. Like seriously wherever they docked the real thing I want to see it.
Tumblr media
My favorite All Blue dreamer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wished they kept to the scene in the manga. Like Luffy's first impression of Sanji and why he asked him to be part of his crew was not because he was a good fighter nor because he liked his food, Luffy hasn't eaten anything Sanji made yet, but he asked Sanji to be part of his crew was because Sanji fed Gin when everyone else tried to kick him out of the restaurant. He saw Sanji's kindness and wanted him to be part of his crew.
Tumblr media
This is why there is a lock in the fridge in Sunny and giant mousetraps
Tumblr media
I believe in the theory that there's no one in Laugh Tale or they could be vegans. Cause Luffy would have found One Piece already if someone was cooking there.
Tumblr media
After seeing Arlong, Nami's happiness became very important to me
Tumblr media
He promised to pay with a treasure tab. He made the same promise to Makino. I really hope he returns to Foosha Village and pays that tab cause Makino's a mom now.
Tumblr media
Luffy and Sanji conversing about their dream with bright looks on their faces is very important to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that this is what they're bonding over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't tell if this is Sanji's signature fried rice
Tumblr media
I liked Buggy's intro. BUT Mihawk's intro, destroying Don Krieg's fleet, became my absolute fave bounty intro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know he and Shanks fought a lot over the years so he easily recognized the hat. And I know he knows about Luffy. Not by name. But because Shanks lost his arm to a boy in East Blue and he probably made the connection. So him mentioning the hat really got me excited.
Tumblr media
I love Zoro and Mihwak's duel. They perfectly recreated the battle and really did justice to the moment that defined Zoro's entire brain chemistry as a pirate, Strawhat first mate and Luffy's best friend.
Tumblr media
Den Den Mushi Appreciation
Love they're incorporating more designs to the Den Den Mushi. In the anime Garp had a megaphone so this was so in the world tone

Mikans at Midnight
inspired by this post by @pinkcrittertomb <3
also posted on my ao3
Sanji exhales loudly as he collapses against the kitchen counter. He’s finally done deep cleaning the kitchen. For the millionth time since he began his task, he curses out Luffy, who somehow managed to get into the last dredges of syrup that Usopp brought back from his village and made a mess of both himself and the kitchen. Sanji and Usopp had swiftly doled out a proper punishment for the greedy captain that would likely do nothing to prevent such an event from happening again.
After hours of cleaning and meal prep, Sanji is positively exhausted and would love nothing more than to pass out in his bunk for a few hours of sleep before he has to wake up and make breakfast for the crew. However, he’ll have to wait for a bit longer because his work is still not finished.
Nami is on watch tonight and he has to bring her a snack to tide her over and he refuses to make her wait any longer than she has to. Sanji allows himself to rest for the length of time it takes for him to finish a cigarette before he gets back to work.
He hums to himself as he whips up some of her favourite snacks: a parfait with the mikans from her beloved tree, a batch of shortbread cookies with a vanilla glaze, a bowl of assorted fruit, and a pot of Earl Grey tea.
He smiles, thinking of Nami as he leaves the kitchen and heads to the crow’s nest. Sanji admires everyone on their minuscule crew (even that damned moss-brained swordsman, though he’d never admit it aloud), but Nami truly is something special. Not only is she beautiful beyond compare, but she is unbelievably intelligent, kind, headstrong, and resilient. He is honoured to be on the same crew as someone as amazing as she.
Sanji gets nervous and giddy around her as he does around most women, and he enjoys having her attention. But he’s been working hard on not making her uncomfortable after she told him that she dislikes his flirtatious advances. He would hate to make any woman feel unnerved by him, especially not one whom he considers a friend. He wants Nami to not only think of him as a crewmate and chef but as a friend and someone she can rely on. But Sanji knows that he has to earn that trust. And he will do so one snack at a time.
The smile falls off his face as he climbs the rigging to the nest and hears the sound of someone crying. He is quick to close the distance before he opens up the hatch and makes his way inside.
“Nami-swan, are you alright?”
“Oh, Sanji. I didn’t hear you coming.” The navigator is quick to turn away from him and wipe her eyes. “Thanks for the snack, you can just leave it there.”
When she turns back and sees Sanji sitting across from her and making no effort to leave, Nami resorts to anger. “I thought I told you to fuck off!”
Sanji takes her outburst in stride. “Forgive me, Nami-swan. I don’t mean to overstep, but I couldn’t possibly live with myself if I left you here alone knowing how upset you are. I’ll leave if you really want me to, but maybe I can lend an ear? I’ve been told I’m a good listener.”
Nami studies Sanji as she ponders his offer. The sight of her wet eyes and blotchy face breaks his heart.
“It’s just…” Nami begins tentatively. She glances at Sanji before looking away again, staring up at the stars. She tightens the blanket around her shoulders. “Cocoyashi is finally free. I’m free now. My years of having to work for Arlong are over. But that didn’t fix everything.” Tears begin to fall down her face once again.
“Belle-mere is still dead. Nojiko spent most of her life hating me, and now I’m here at sea and we can’t even work on becoming sisters again. I lost most of my childhood to those assholes who treated me however the fuck they wanted. No matter what I do now, I’ll never get that time back. All the things I did to survive… I can’t take them back.” She inhales shakily.  “I’ve spent my whole life hating pirates and now I am one. Who am I now? I barely even recognize myself.”
Sanji pours some tea into the mug he brought and gently presses it into her hands, catching her eye as he speaks.
“I think that’s the best part of getting older,” he says quietly. “We live and learn and decide who we want to be. Take the things that serve you and leave the rest. You said it yourself: you’re free now. Free to choose who it is you want to be. It doesn’t matter how long it takes for you to find that out. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you. And it’ll be a long, happy life if I have anything to say about it,” Sanji vows. “I never would’ve seen myself becoming a pirate, either, but being on this crew? Well, it doesn’t seem so bad.”
They sit in silence for a little while before a harsh sob wracks Nami’s figure. “I miss her,” she weeps. “I miss my mom. Why did she have to die?”
Sanji opens up his arms and Nami falls onto him, sobbing into his chest. He takes the mug from her grip and holds her close, whispering assurances into her hair.
“I’m sorry all that happened to you. I wish I could take all that pain for myself,” he says.
“Regardless of what you may have done, I’m sure your mother and sister are proud of you. I’m sure they’re glad that you’re alive and doing what you want with your life. The pain may never go away, but it’s a reminder of the love between you all. You and Nojiko will always be sisters no matter how far apart you are.”
Nami squeezes him tightly as she continues to cry.
“Thank you, Sanji,” she says when her tears have subsided. She pulls herself out of the embrace, accepts the handkerchief the chef passes to her and dabs her eyes. “I’m glad you were here.”
“Of course, Nami. I won’t have all the answers, but I’ll always be willing to listen and do what I can.” Sanji pushes the tray of food closer to Nami. “Here, have something to eat.”
He removes the lid from the tray, looking at Nami in alarm when she lets out another quiet sob.
“Damn it, Sanji, are you trying to make me die from dehydration?” she snaps, though it lacks its usual heat. “Bringing me the food that reminds me of my mom when I’m missing her. You bastard.”
“Shit! I’m sorry, Nami-swan, let me go get something else for you!”
Nami stops him with a hand on his arm. “No, no. This is perfect. Thank you.”
Sanji lights up a cigarette and is quiet company while Nami eats her snacks. She finishes her parfait, half of the cookies, a cup of tea, and some of the fruit before she puts the lid back on the tray. Sanji opens his mouth to speak up but she beats him to it.
“I still have a couple of hours of watch left. I’ll eat the rest before my shift’s done, I promise.”
“Do you want me to take over for you?” Sanji offers.
“No way, you’re exhausted. You need some sleep. And I’m not in the mood to deal with a hungry Luffy first thing in the morning. I’ll be okay.”
When Sanji doesn’t immediately get up to leave, Nami sighs heavily and leans her head on his shoulder. “Ugh, I hate crying! Now my sinuses hurt.”
Sanji blinks past his surprise and wraps his arm around her shoulders as he tries to force down the blush radiating from his cheeks. “Y-yeah. I don’t know how that Long-nose does it so often.”
Nami chuckles. “Maybe the length of his nose helps somehow?”
Sanji hums thoughtfully. “Maybe. Either way, he’s a freak of nature,” he states, the both of them laughing quietly at the sniper's expense.
“Thank you for being here for me, Sanji,” Nami says when they’ve calmed. “I really appreciate it.”
“I’ll always be here for you, Nami,” Sanji promises. “If you ever need someone to talk to or something to eat, I’m here.”
“What if I need this?” Nami plucks the cigarette from Sanji’s lips and takes a drag before placing it back in his mouth. She cackles at the sight of his cherry-red face.
“I-I-I don’t think I can allow that, Nami-swan! You shouldn’t poison yourself with these things!” He tosses the cigarette overboard for good measure, even though he needs about ten more, right now.
“And neither should you,” Nami says stubbornly. She sits up and stretches, turning to Sanji with a contented smile. “I’m okay now, so get out of here and get some sleep! I won't forgive you if my breakfast isn't top-notch like usual.”
“Are you sure?” Sanji shrinks under the glare she sends his way. “Alright, alright, I’m gone. Have a good night, Nami-swan.”
Sanji is halfway down the rigging when Nami leans over the edge of the nest to call down to him. “Oh, and Sanji?”
“Yes, dear?”
The serene smile Nami sends his way almost sends Sanji tumbling down the rigging. “Belle-mere’s mikans taste best when you’ve made something with them.”
With that, Nami hides back in the nest, the sound of a pencil on paper disturbing the silence of the night.
Below, Sanji’s hands hold the rigging in a bruising grip while a goofy smile spreads on his face alongside a heated blush. He holds onto this feeling and memorizes it, storing it deep in his heart. He vows that he will do everything in his power to keep that smile on his navigator’s face.

You’ve Got The Same Dream as Me (Ch. 3)
Hello, kiddos! The idea for this fanfic came to me from a dream (again) I had about a month ago. Тhe main characters were Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill (don't ask me why), but with a light hand they have been replaced (sorry, guys). The main action of the dream took place somewhere in the sands. Аlthough this fanfic will feature Sir Crocodile and our beloved Buggy, the action shifts to the desert. No marines, ships etc. Sorry, not sorry :) The devil fruit's abilities are preserved. Catch the Mummy and Indiana Jones vibes :) I have no idea how many chapters there will be. Different titles and names from the original source material will be used to emphasise the general OP's vibe.
Since English is not my native language, errors may occur. As always, feel free to share your thoughts :)
And thank you to my dear @yujo-nishimura and @laurasoretta for believing in me :)
Description: Catherine, a librarian who is searching for the trail of her sister who went missing on an expedition. Notes in books and diaries lead her to Cairo. There she finds a retailer from an artifact shop who, in exchange for selling her a map and equipment, insists that Catherine take her along. They get into a little (or maybe a big) adventure..
Warnings: 12+, I think. As always, no smut, angst, violence. Adventures and fun only. Buggy x OC, Sir Crocodile x OC.
Words: 1430 (sorry, not sorry)
The title is taken from «You've Got the Same Dream as Me» (Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli) (One Piece, Netflix)

Chapter 1 Chapter 2
✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Rika and Catherine held their way to a small bar.
"Is this man of yours reliable? Can he be trusted?" Catherine could hardly contain her excitement.
"I wouldn't trust a clown like him one hundred per cent, but yes, I can vouch for him", Rika said, scratching her left arm.
"I don't trust you much either, but you probably know the local best, so I don't have a choice".
"I'm sure I do", Rika laughed. "God, you say the strangest things sometimes.
"Okay, well, you have to explain one thing to me. Why we're going to a bar when it's not even noon?".
"Other days we would go to his circus tent. But at eleven o'clock on Wednesday morning this man can be only here", Rika pointed to the bar sign.
“Don't be like Tangerine and Drink at Arlong's”? Catherine squinted, putting a hand to her forehead, shielding herself from the sun, she read the bar’s title. "What idiotic names these places have".
The girls entered the bar. Inside, there were massive wooden tables and chairs, the floor was scuffed. Yes, it had clearly seen better days. The air smelled of alcohol and tobacco.
"Why are there pictures of people who look like fish on the walls?" Catherine whispered, nudging Rika lightly in the shoulder.
"Because this bar is run by Arlong, damn it. Once upon a time it belonged to someone else, I honestly don't know who. But the last owner owed Arlong money, so-- The owner was never seen again, and the bar had new owners".
"But why are they fish?" Catherine whispered again.
"You've never heard of fish people?" Rika asked in surprise.
"Fish people? No, there aren't any in my country", Catherine shook her head negatively.
"God, you live a boring life there. Wait a second..."
Rika suddenly stopped a man passing by with a tray. Honestly, he looked more like a squid or an octopus with the human body.
"Hey, Ernie. Have you seen our mutual friend? He should be here by now", Rika asked, taking two whiskey glasses from the fishmonger's tray.
"He's over there by the bar top. How did you not notice him right away", the squid replied with a grin.
"Thank you, sweetie, you can go now", Rika nudged Ernie lightly in the back and turned to Catherine. "He's here, just as I thought. Please, Catherine, honey, do me a favour. Just don't stare at his nose, or he'll freak out and we won't get anything out of him".
Catherine shrugged, not fully understanding the last comment.
"Buggy, mate! You don't change! It's good to see you in good health", Rika said cheerfully as she approached the blue-haired man.
"And hello to you, my cookie", the man turned round in his chair towards the girls.
Catherine could barely contain her surprise. He was a tall man with blue hair that was covered by a striped bandana. His face was covered with makeup. Lipstick smeared around his mouth, drawn crossed white bones and blue lines near his green eyes adorned the man's face. But the first thing that caught her eye was his red nose.
"Now I understood why she asked about the circus. Damn, he looks like a clown", the thought flashed through Catherine's mind.
"Please tell me that glass is for me. You owe me one after your loss in our drunken roulette game last month", said Buggy, pointing to the drink.
"Don't remind me of that night, please", Rika rolled her eyes and placed one glass in the clown's hands.
"Come on, it wasn't that bad. You even went home with a cute cook", he replied with a laugh.
"You're a jerk", Rika replied with a chuckle, sipping her whiskey.
"I think we figured that out a long time ago. So.. Wait...", Buggy glanced at Catherine, "who's that with you? Is that for me, too? Well, look, Rika, my biscuit, you certainly lost last time, but this is too generous".
"Gross", Catherine cursed out loud.
"What did you just say, cotton candy?" Catherine could hear the irritation in Buggy's voice.
"I said tha….", she didn't finish the sentence.
"Okay, okay, guys, calm down. We got off on the wrong foot", Rika took Catherine by the shoulder and sat her down at the bar to Buggy’s right. "Buggy, this is Catherine. Catherine, this is Buggy. And I'm not going to ask you to make up on pinky toes. Now let's have a drink to lighten the mood".
When the waiter brought everyone a glass of whiskey, Rika sat down on Buggy's left. They began to whisper about something. Catherine leaned slightly over the counter to get a better look at his big red nose.
After a couple of seconds, noticing her interested look in his side-eye, Buggy stood up abruptly and walked away.
"Could you please not stare? I told you!", said Rika with irritation in her voice.
"I di…, I didn't... I've never seen anything like it. Is it real?"
"What? His nose? Yes, so what? Do you have a problem with that?" Rika sipped her whiskey, giving Catherine an angry look.
"What? No, I don't. He’s… He's cute. Even with that nose", Catherine blushed a little.
The girls sat alone for a few minutes, until finally Buggy came back and plumped down on a chair.
"Hey, fishy, let's have some more whisky! A bottle!" he said, making a characteristic gesture with his hand.
"Look, Buggy", Catherine mumbled, "I'm sorry if I offended you… by staring.. staring at your nose".
"Baby, I'm Buggy the Genius Jester, you can't offend me", he said with a laugh, "So, Rika, my dear pie, what brings you to me? I'm sure it wasn't just a drink".
Rika cleared her throat.
"Listen, we need to get to the Sabaody Desert. You've been there a few times before, you know the way".
"Why do you need to go there?" asked Buggy, opening a bottle of whiskey.
"I'm looking for my sister", Catherine said loudly, she was very surprised at how loud she sounded.
"And? What do you want from me? Find some young boys or grandfathers, I don't care who will take you there", he sipped the whiskey from the neck of the bottle.
"But you know those places better than anyone in this town", Rika replied, putting her hand on his shoulder.
Irritation came over Catherine. She seemed to be wasting her time with meaningless conversations.
"Look, I was told you're the coolest guy in this town", she made air quotes, "And you can be trusted. But the way I see it, you're just a drunken piece of shit".
She jumped up from her chair.
"Catherine, calm down and sit", Rika hissed.
"No, let's leave and find someone else. I don't want to waste my time talking to a grown man who painted himself to look like a clown".
"She's so boring, why did you bring her? She's ruining my buzz!", Buggy looked at Rika with surprise, pointing the neck of the bottle at Catherine.
"Don't you dare point that slobber bottle at me, you jerk!" she slapped his arm.
"Sorry, your highness", he bowed royally.
Rika threw an angry look at Catherine.
"I said sit down!" she drilled her with her eyes.
"Shit.. Are you sure that jackass is the best and can help us?" Catherine asked with surprise in her voice, pointing at Buggy.
"Baby, I'm the best at everything", he said, running his hand down Catherine's neck.
"Alright, lovebirds, that’s enough", Rika slapped her hands on the table, "Cathie, show him what you showed me".
Catherine growled and quickly pulled diaries, maps, notes out of her bag and placed them on the table.
"See?" Rika smiled.
"Fuck me! What's that? You think this is... Coordinates?" Buggy grabbed the diary and started flipping through it. "I wonder... Very interesting. You're not so simple, pumpkin", he reached out and started running his hand through Сatherine's hair. She yanked back.
"There's what you love so much, my dear clown. Treasure! Don't tell me looking at those cards didn't make you think of it", Rika whispered in his ear.
"I can pay you to take us there. And if there's really something in there. I don't know.. gold or diamonds or women or whatever you want to find, you can have it. Please!" Catherine looked at him with pleading in her eyes.
"Of course, you'll pay, my cotton candy, I wouldn't get out of my chair for free", Buggy glanced at Catherine. She suddenly felt goosebumps run down her spine. "Well, when do we start?"

Terrible AU of the day:  Zeff and Bellemere get married. Nami, Nojiko, and Sanji are step siblings on the Baratie.
With extra details, because I spent 11 hours in the car today:
He's buying supplies for the Baratie at Coco Village, and gets tangerines from her and asks if she wants to get dinner.  She thinks this is a business dinner and he's going to buy tangerines exclusively from her.  Heck yeah money!  Once she gets there, she realizes pretty quick that he meant it to be a date.  She panics and talks about tangerines the whole time.  He realizes she doesn't know it's a date, gets embarrassed, signs a contract to buy way too many tangerines on a regular basis.
She's embarrassed and keeps sending the girls to the dock to deliver the tangerines in her stead.  Zeff is like, "These girls are too damn skinny," so he'll buy the tangerines, feed them lunch, and hand them a couple casseroles to take home.  Zeff's approval rating with the girls are off the charts.
Bellemere comes down to give him a piece of her mind about how they don't need charity, and he's like, "It's not charity.  My dumbass brat of a kid said he was too good to make casseroles, so I made him make 20, and now I have too many damn casseroles."  She's like, "...IDK what to make of any of that.  You have a kid?"  And he's like, "Yeah.  He's a shit.  I love him...Want to get dinner?"
Even though all three kids are in weird pseudo-adoption situations, they still have big step-sibling energy.  Mostly because Sanji is wary of siblings and has a meltdown any time Bellemere is nice to him.  Eventually they get to a place where the kids are friends who live on the same houseboat, but no one's ready to use the "sister" word or the "brother" word.  That would have to happen later at an emotionally climactic moment.
Nojiko and Sanji are both exceedingly well dressed.  Everyone else rolls their eyes at them, but they're bonding and look amazing.
Nami teaches Sanji to steal things.  They do a tag-team kind of thing where one of them distracts.  No one can prove they've done anything, but everyone knows and is exasperated.
Zeff is the worst girl dad.  But the girls and Bellemere are consistent with calling him on his shit, especially when Nojiko starts hanging out in the kitchen.  Sanji starts teaching her to cook.  Then Patty starts teaching her to cook.  She's a really good, solid cook, and is less of an asshole about it than everyone else, so after a couple months Zeff gives up and throws chef whites at her.
Bellemere takes over the administration stuff and organizing the vendor purchases, because Zeff would rather be cooking and is shit at it.  I mean, look at how much he's spending on tangerines!
Nami is great at charting courses that will get them the best business and avoid storms and minimize time for supply trips.
As the kids get older, they all keep banging the customers.  One of them will do it, and the adults will yell at them, and that kid will calm down for a bit, but as soon as they do, another kid is at it.  It just doesn't stop.
Nami stands up to Zeff for something he said to Sanji, and Sanji has a meltdown.
Okay, I think Bellemere has to die?  Something with Arlong.  Because then Nami leaves to get vengeance or whathaveyou.  Zeff throws himself into his work, Sanji shuts down for a while and starts smoking Bellemere's cigarettes.  Nojiko has to keep the restaurant running.  She's pretty pissed at Nami.
When the Going Merry rolls up to the Baratie, Nami's like, "Aww shit.  I'm not here," and hides on the boat until Zoro has his show down with Mihawk.  When Luffy and the rest of the crew go in to eat, Luffy's like, "Hey, do you know Nami?" and Sanji stares at him and says, "Yeah, we're not gonna tell Nojiko she's here." Immediately goes to the Merry to be like, "Sooooooo..." in the most asshat brother kind of way.
She and Zeff end up having an all-out screaming match on deck.  Luffy's standing off to the side like 😶 horrified and trying not to be noticed but unable to look away from this car crash.   Sanji's 😶 too.  And Usopp 😶.  And the chefs 😶😶😶😶.  And maybe Mihawk 😶.
When they finally calm down and come to the end of their fight, Zeff's like, "Alright, fine.  But nobody tell Nojiko."

Finished Whole Cake Island. Spoliers. In no particular order.
Thoughts:
Since Fish Man Island, the damn crew can't stay together for more than two minutes. It feels a bit just Oda's writing style. But it also feels like a handicap for the crew. Cause if they're all together, they'd be too strong or something. Missing the full crew antics though.
Luffy messing up the cooking immediately into the journey reminds me back to him yelling at Arlong of all the things he can't do and why his crew is important.
Are the straw hats actually that dumb they fell for Pudding's act? Like. Come on guys. You're in enemy territory, trust no one.
Just, poor Sanji. This sweet boy had such good intentions with leaving the crew to settle this shit. And then it's one thing after the next with getting backed into a corner.
He genuinely could have made a life with Pudding. And been happy. Them baking shit together every day. And then she had to be a bitch. Him crying in the rain got me crying.
His sister could have told him way sooner the bracelets were fake though. Like come on. Why switch them if you're not gonna tell him.
Fuck Germa. That shit coded and just.... fuck them.
Love when Nami's evil pirate queen side comes out. Using the vivre card to control the forest. Distracting, using, and eventually straight up stealing Zeus. Like anyone who shits on her can sit the fuck down. She's great.
Brook is underrated. Yes his power is clutch against Big Mom's soul soldiers and such. But him fighting and getting not just the road ponegliff but all three that they had. Beautiful.
Hilarious using random people to continually call out that's not how bodies work, when they do something stupid to heal or just isn't biology.
The wedding is utter beautiful chaos and I loved every moment of it.
Big Moms backstory. She ate people?! The people she loved?! Did not see that one coming. Very surprised. ALSO does that mean anyone could eat someone to gain their fruit? Or did she like eat her whole and that's the only way? Or cause it's the soul fruit it could be passed that way? Questions.
I love when the crew gets to use their skills. Sanji knowing how to recreate the cake and making one that is deadly delicious is fun. I wish they did this more. Like Chopper used his medical knowledge in the Thriller Bark fight and then kinda never again. Do it more!
Sanji making it his business to get Luffy back to the sunny was sweet. His extra retribution for what he put Luffy through.
Sanji protecting Luffy's head while trying to get back to sunny is so freaking precious. I squealed during those panels.
Sad that Pudding felt she couldn't let Sanji remember their kiss. Like why girl?
Kinda really like Bege after all that. His fruit is a little silly but fun. Love a man who loves his wife. One piece could use more romance damn it.
Chiffon's Dad sacrifice had me crying. Dads loving their daughters will hit me in the feels every time.
Fuck Judge. Sanji saves you all, tells you to get lost, you agree, to then show up and yell at him for being a failure. Yes I get it that he wanted to hear from Luffy what made him special, see it through his eyes, but still. Luffy's reaction is hilarious and Jimbei laughing at his reaction is even better.
Mixed feelings with Jimbei. Very strong, yes. Helmsman role is cool, like him appreciating the strength of Sunny. But he better not start doing Usopp shit of trying to play Captain.
Jimbei's crew never leaving and helping them the whole time was sweet. Aladdin and Praline are hot. Smash.
I like Katakuri. He started out a little annoying with the, I can see the future don't even try, attitude. But damn, that fight with Luffy. His respecting him by the end. I like his little backstory with Brulee. I don't think his mouth is that bad either. I'd smash.
Thinking about the length of the battles. Oda definitely did well conveying it but these are hours long. Cool way to show their strength.
Carrot's sulong is cool. That was a good payoff for the minks and the tease of the full moon.
Is Pedro actually dead? He seems actually dead. But we did this in Alabasta. Oda doesn't like actually killing people and it makes sacrifice plays like that less impactful. Sitting here thinking nah he'll show back up in X chapters from now like Oda always does. Ugh Oda.
We learn that Luffy can feel the emotions in things. Which, one, makes so much sense for future mister pirate king, luck of the universe. But, two, every time his crew or friends that left or fought him, he could feel their emotions. Why he has known they were lying and what they were really feeling. Chefs kiss on that one Oda.
This post is longer than I was planning......I miss Zoro, Law, and Robin.
Excited to get into Wano. Almost caught up!

Anime version of Nami’s “betrayal” is better than the manga, and here is why
After Bellmere got killed by Arlong who took over Cocoyasi Village, Nami makes it her mission to buy back her home from the sadistic fishman.
That’s a big burden to shoulder for a ten-year-old girl.
And it doesn't get any easier since she also have to tell everyone in her hometown that she joined the gang of fishmen who made them slaves, including her sister Nojiko and Genzo who is a sort-of father figure to her.
Tumblr media
Nami shows the villagers the money she just got from Arlong for her maps and “proudly” declares that she can now buy whatever she wants(knowing Nami’s true intentions, we can see that her smile is forced). That's followed by Nojiko pushing Nami and yelling at her for seemingly not giving a damn about Arlong killing Bellmere in cold blood, but Nami replies that she doesn’t want to be like Bellmere and live a honest life if it means getting killed. The frosting of this ouch-my-feels cake is Genzo yelling that Nami is no longer welcome Cocoyasi Village.
This is a whole lot of fells, but the anime made it even better with a bit of subtlety.
youtube
First of all, the stack of banknotes are in Nami’s right hand from the start if you look for them. In fact, they are even more of a key element in this heart wrenching scene. When Nojiko jumps Nami, the bills fly around and ends up scattered around the ground in the dirt. And when Nami runs away after being banished, she leaves without the money, showing that she really only brought them as a prop to make the villagers loath her.
It’s small details that make something go from great to better.

The Voyage So Far: East Blue (Part Two)
east blue (1 | 2) || alabasta (1 | 2) || skypiea || water 7 || enies lobby || thriller bark || paramount war (1 | 2) || fishman island || punk hazard || dressrosa (1 | 2) || whole cake island || wano (1 | 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is one of my favorite little character beats in east blue. sanji and zeff have an entire conversation and then zeff mentions, “by the way, that kid can’t swim” and sanji is like “WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T YOU TELL ME SOONER!!” and is in the water in like three seconds flat.
and, of course, zeff’s fond expression once sanji isn’t around to see.
Tumblr media
we don’t see sanji smile like this too often- and when we do, it’s most often related to food in some way (like when he feeds gin, or in his wci flashback when sora says his food is good). it does things to my heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kind of reiterating myself from the last post, here, but usopp really does do a lot of cool things well before his water 7/enies lobby character development, just not as many when compared to his crewmates. which is his problem, really- he can’t stop comparing himself to them long enough to recognize he’s pretty cool by any reasonable metric, he just happens to be on a ship with nine of the most badass people on the planet and so his metric is completely skewed.
anyways he shoots a fucking bomb into arlong’s face and that’s completely sick as hell.
Tumblr media
zoro left alone in arlong park is so funny. he got nearly cut in half like two days ago, and instead of just leaving like a normal person when nami gives him the chance, he chooses to wipe the floor with all the fishmen around and then hang out on arlong’s throne. also, that shirt isn’t his. he stole it. presumably off one of the guys whose asses he just kicked.
Tumblr media
there’s really something to be said about nami’s expressions in arlong park. she’s clearly acting to an extent in most of her scenes prior to her breakdown, but at the same time, god, it really doesn’t look like it. nami in this arc is a really great example of reread value- on a reread, all her coldness and cruelty becomes barely-restrained pain and desperation.
Tumblr media
i really, really love one piece’s sibling relationships. and there might be a little bit of bias here, because i’m a big sister myself, but i love how varied they are, how real they feel, both adopted and biological. nami and nojiko don’t agree on everything, and they come into conflict more than once, but at the same time it’s plain they love each other so so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bellemere is up there as one of my favorite flashback characters, together with corazon and roger. i love her a lot.
Tumblr media
i’m not even doing a thorough reread for this post, just skimming through volumes and picking out moments, and genzo telling nami that she’s fought well and there’s nothing more she can do still made me cry.
nami has been fighting on her own for eight years, with the lives of her entire village and her only remaining family resting on her shoulders, with them unable to do anything but watch as she runs herself into the ground for them. this is where they decide they’d rather all die than have to see her start all over from scratch for them.
arlong park is an amazingly written arc, and it pummels my heart in a new and different way every time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really like that zoro, sanji and usopp all follow luffy’s lead in how he chooses to handle the arlong park situation. luffy waits for nami to ask for help, and as soon as she finally does, it cuts around to show that it’s not just luffy there- all four of them were just waiting for her word. it’s the first time the crew is entirely united for a common goal, and it feels really good.
Tumblr media
i really am never gonna shut up about usopp’s character development, huh.
i really like the way the scene of him getting up the nerve to face down chuu is constructed- him rehearsing excuses and explanations cut together with memories of his crewmates (and on the next page, later the cocoyashi villagers as well), moments of theirs that he obviously admires. the one that hits me the hardest is him thinking of nami, in the moment she stabbed herself to save his life. that’s how he gets up his courage- from his admiration and respect for his crewmates’ bravery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think about this moment a lot. it’s one of my favorite luffy moments, and also one of the ones i think is most representative of him as a character. he’s such a delightful, laid-back person most of the time, but he loves the people he’s decided are his so much, and god help you if you hurt them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think about this a lot, too.
luffy is dumb as rocks in a lot of ways, but he’s pretty damn intuitive when it comes to people. he handles nami’s situation in exactly the right way, by waiting for her to ask for help instead of just barging unasked into the war she’s been fighting alone for years, and he handles this exactly right, too- by destroying what’s effectively her prison cell in a permanent, visible way, where she can see and know that she’ll never have to sit at that desk ever, ever again.
i just- i love luffy, so much.
Tumblr media
i talked about oda’s use of negative space to emphasize heavy, impactful moments in the last post, and this is maybe the best example of it yet in the story. look at this panel: the future pirate king, the stand where the last one died, and absolutely nothing else but empty space and luffy’s words: this is where the great pirate era began.
the theming of beginnings and endings in loguetown is so, so good, and it could almost be summed up with this panel alone. it’s at once the ending of the story’s east blue prologue and a new beginning- the beginning of the crew’s infamous reputations, of the quest for the one piece proper, of the entire wider story that opens up with the entry into the grand line. the end of roger’s era, and the start of luffy’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love the atmosphere of loguetown so dearly. the thunder strike at the last moment, maybe a rescue and maybe sheer luck; the raging storm, the vow over the barrel, the declaration of dreams. i’ve said this before- there’s something so romantic about it, in the old-fashioned arthurian sense one piece uses the word.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and we’re off for the grand line!

Chapter 1
Hints
As the tearful reunion between sisters began. The younger, who had orange hair and a knack for navigation, Nami the official Straw Hat Navigator. Nojiko the older sister, who had light purple hair and a darker skin tone than the orange-haired girl.
It was obvious they weren't really related but blood doesn't mean everything.
Zoro sat up and looked at his captain's paralyzed form. His only opened eye widened, he was having another one of those episodes.
Koala had warned him of these things, The girl was also an orange-head with blue eyes, she's skilled in merfolk karate.
Ever since his first encounter with the two, he noticed Luffy would get migraines when it came to seeing or witnessing siblings. Siblings love, siblings fight, siblings everything.
Adding to the fact he had burn marks on him, seriously, what happened to his captain?
"Oi, Luffy. You okay?" Sanji asked, but before he knew it Luffy's knees buckled and he was heading straight to the ground. Zoro, even though he has injuries and had to take it easy, dashes forward from his sitting position againts the wall.
"Luffy!" Nami turned around, Nojiko offered and went off to find the Town's doctor, Sanji placed a hand on top of his captain's forehead and immediately snapping it away.
"Did he just fight a fish man while he was having a fever?!" Usopp stared at his struggling captain, fatigue catching up to him "Wait... I nee-", he was shushed softly by Nami, with one last smile of reassurence from his crew. Luffy slid his eyes shut for a good and well-deserved rest.
--On the Ship--
Usopp made his way to the den den mushi Koala, Luffy's outsider-nakama, gave to them. Zoro ordered him to inform the other red-head of today's events, including the fact that Luffy was running on a high-fever.
Dialing the unknown(for Usopp) woman's number, a 'purr purr purr'. She finally answered.
"Hi, this is Koala. I'm guessing it's one of Luffy-kun's crew members?" Damn, straight to the point and spot-on as well. Usopp made a hum of clarification, "I am Captain Usopp-sama! The sniper king! Luffy has fallen ill and i'd like to know what type of medicine he usually takes." Well the introduction was a bit extra but he likes to humor people with his lies, the medicine part is true.
Koala sputtered on the other end of the line, some 'Wait, what?!' and a 'HE GOT SICK?!' later. She told him some vitamins and medicine that Luffy usually takes during and after his episodes. Usopp wrote it all down, and read through it. Had to recite it to the woman so she knew what she said had been properly listed.
"Alright then, thanks for telling me this. On the behalf of my boss and i, thank you for also taking care of Arlong. He was a real pain-in-the-ass." She growled at the last part, making Usopp a bit nervous. "It wasn't a problem, really, Luffy took care of him and destroyed his mansion and park." The long-nosed sniper spoke with pride in his voice, This is what it means to follow a great captain, eh Tou-san?
Turning to take his leave. He thought of what was the reason why his captain was suddenly like this, and how does he know a woman who was atleast 3 years older than him?
Who really is Monkey D. Luffy?
I didn't know i would do it like this LOL XD

One Piece Mermaid AU!
Featuring Luffy as a rubber mermaid who can’t swim, and Ace who carries her on his back as they pirate together.
*Genderbend warning, fem!Luffy
Sliding in last minute for MerMay, bc idk about you, but I need something to mark that May has passed this year...
~~
PLEASE DO NOT REPOST, EDIT, TRANSLATE, OR OTHERWISE USE MY ART. To share, please reblog! Reblogs and comments greatly appreciated!!!
~~
Base headcanons for this AU beneath the cut! ↓ ↓ ↓
Luffy's a mermaid who was raised in Fuusha village, just like in canon. And, just like in canon, despite being a mermaid, she SUCKS at swimming, a fact that Shanks finds absolutely hilarious. She still wants to become a pirate, she still eats her devil fruit and becomes a rubber mer(?), she still gets kidnapped by Higuma (who sees her as an excellent way to rake in cash, given how valuable mermaids are on the slave market), and Shanks still gives her his hat.
As a devil fruit user, Luffy's already atrocious swimming skills are now at zero. She can still breathe under water, but will sink like a stone, her strength sapped by the sea, and if she loses consciousness she'll stop breathing too. Needless to say, she stays out of the water, and the villagers come to accept that sometimes, mermaids just live on land.
Garp still comes back, and is still furious at her wanting to become a pirate (and inwardly, extremely concerned that a bandit tried to catch and sell her), and still takes her to live at Dadan's where she meets Ace.
Ace has no idea what to think of the weird fish-brat who he's now told is gonna be his sibling, and resolutely ignores Luffy. He's inwardly slightly impressed as Luffy continues to follow him through the mountain every day, not even particularly hindered by lack of legs and using a mixture of crawling, squirming, hand-walking, and ricocheting forward with rubber arms to move.
Luffy still meets Sabo the same way as canon, and is still caught by Porchemy, who at first is thrilled because a mer brat! That'll bring in WAY more money than the spare change Ace stole! But in the end, he loses his temper at Luffy's stubbornness and still beats her to a pulp.
Ace and Sabo still rescue Luffy, and they still exchange sake cups and become brothers.
Yes, brothers.
Because at this point, neither Ace nor Sabo nor any of the bandits, nor anyone really on Dawn island save Makino and Garp actually know that Luffy's a girl. Not even Luffy.
The three brothers promise to each other that they'll all leave the island when they turn seventeen, setting out to sea to become pirates (Ace and Sabo are honestly a little concerned, given how often people try to sell Luffy, and how despite aquatic appearances Luffy's vulnerable af in water, but decide to wait and see. They have seven years together, Luffy ten until seventeen, who knows how much stronger their baby brother will get in that time).
Sabo "dies."
Ace and Luffy continue to train, and things don't change until Ace is seventeen, shortly before he sets out to sea.
He's let Luffy crawl into his blanket to sleep with him (partially cold-blooded, Lu gets cold easily when inactive), and Ace realizes that his lil brother's chest feels a bit lumpy.
Concerned, he makes Luffy have it checked out by the bandits, who are shocked to find developing...breasts?
That can't be right...right?
Dadan makes a call to Garp, who snorts and says of COURSE Luffy's a girl, didn't he say granddaughter?
No, he had not, he had only mentioned "grand child."
Everyone is shocked, but none more so than Ace, who really doesn't know what to do with this new information.
(Luffy's not quite sure what a "girl" is, and when she asks Ace, Ace honestly doesn't know how to define "girl" either, so she doesn't get what the big deal is)
Ace realizes he's troubled because he can't remember the number of times he's rescued Luffy from potential traffickers, and the number of times he's heard the lament, "Pity it's not female, it'd be worth quadruple," from the kidnappers before he beats them to a pulp.
He already had doubts about letting Luffy go out to sea alone, three years after he's left. But now knowing that Luffy's a girl, and one of the most sought-after species that traffickers target...he knows the world out there is much bigger than a teeny peaceful East Blue island, and Luffy may not get lucky every time, and may not be strong enough in just three years.
But at the same time, it's not like he can order her to stay here. There's no way Luffy'd listen; the sea calls to her, freedom calls to her, and Ace understands that more than anyone.
Sabo, Ace thinks, what would you do?
The night before he leaves, Ace tells Luffy that there's been a change of plans.
He's still leaving for sea. He's going to get stronger, and work his way towards becoming Pirate King.
BUT, three years later, Luffy will NOT leave Dawn Island alone.
Ace promises that he'll come back, a stronger pirate capable of looking out for his baby brother (because girl or not, they exchanged vows of brotherhood, and that's something that can't be changed).
He refuses to let Luffy be his captain, he's still got his pride, but maybe, maybe if Luffy becomes strong enough, he'll let her be co-Captain.
Luffy is thrilled, because she wanted to be pirates WITH Ace, and grudgingly accepts the compromise, and promises to train and wait for Ace's return.
Ace leaves Dawn island, and makes a name for himself on the Grand Line (he's PISSED when he finds out he's eaten a devil fruit, because now how's he supposed to rescue Lu from drowning when he can't swim himself???).
He even eventually makes it to Whitebeard, and eventually comes to admire the man. Whitebeard invites him to his crew, and Ace honestly replies that a large part of him wants to accept...but he can't. He promised his baby brother that they'll be pirates and co-captains together, and he can't join another pirate crew without Luffy agreeing too. Even so, and he knows it's selfish of him, he wants to call Whitebeard his father.
Whitebeard tells him that Ace is already his son, regardless of where his allegiances lie, and gives him his blessing to return to East Blue to fetch Luffy. Whitebeard laughs that he can't wait to meet the lil brat that Ace speaks so highly of, and for Ace to hurry up and come back to the New World so they can meet.
Ace plans on traveling light, his former crew all choosing to join the Whitebeard pirates except for his first mate, Deuce. Ace loves his crew, but they're also his crew, and knows that he wants to make their crew with Luffy. So he thinks he and Deuce will be a good starting point (You're just bringing me along bc you want someone who can swim on the crew, Deuce accuses).
As they're planning on leaving, Marco lets slip to fellow commander Thatch that he heard that Ace's "little brother" is actually a super cute girl.
The next morning, Thatch shows up too, insisting that he come along, because hey! He's been with the Whitebeards for ages and hasn't been to Paradise in a while, he wants some change! And won't it be nice to have someone as reliable as him along, just until they get back to the New World and reunite with the Whitebeards? Really he has no ulterior motives like wanting to check out Ace's supposedly hyper hot baby brother-sister!
Ace is suspicious, but Thatch is already on board and the other Whitebeards are already waving so he lets it go.
(Shortly after they leave, Thatch discovers a devil fruit. Deuce tells him to sell the damn thing, it'll taste like shit, but Thatch thinks boy wouldn't it be great to be able to woo Ace's hot brother with a really cool devil fruit power. So he eats it, and yeah it tastes like shit, but now he can control Darkness which is sorta badass?)
(Somewhere on the Whitebeard ships, Blackbeard is still waiting for someone to find the darkness devil fruit, and well, it doesn't happen)
Before Ace returns to Dawn Island, part of him still hopes that Luffy looks passably like a guy. Having been to Fishman island, having befriended Jinbe, he knows that while mermen can still be targeted, mermaids are exponentially more vulnerable. He's learned the kinds of clothing that can help conceal tails, and is hoping that there's a slim chance they might be able to be pirates without the world knowing that Lu's a mermaid.
His hopes are shot when Luffy rockets into his arms at the dock, and his face is immediately buried in enormous tits that definitely weren't there three years ago.
Despite Ace's growing concerns (and red face; why does he feel so hot??? It's not his devil fruit...), Ace lets Luffy give Deuce a beating (why me?!) to claim her position as Ace's Co-Captain of the newly established ASL pirates (because if we're pirates together, Sabo has to be with us too!).
Luffy's gotten a lot stronger, but is still utterly ignorant of the outside world and the dangers it holds (such as the drooling Thatch who immediately wins Luffy over with his cooking despite Ace's burning glares). She's reckless and falls into the ocean every damn day, and while Deuce dives in after her and they've discovered her useful ability to talk to fish to ask for help, it still gives Ace heart attacks.
They still pick up more crew members while in East Blue, including Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, and Sanji, a pervy cook who competes daily with Thatch for Luffy's affections through food (Luffy appreciates the food).
At Arlong Park, Luffy encounters fishmen for the first time in her life. Arlong mocks Luffy's choice of friends and family, and invites her to join his crew made of her own kind. Fishmen and mer are the superior race, and Luffy will make a fine wife, Arlong says.
Luffy breaks his nose off, and Nami joins their crew.
Luffy's chosen mode of transportation is on the back of one of her sturdier crew mates, usually Ace, but often Zoro too. She unfortunately hates all the long skirts/robes Ace suggested for her to hide her tail, and so Ace has decided that being as intimidating as possible while carrying his brother glued to his back is the only way to go.
Needless to say, news of the former Spade Pirates Captain + Whitebeard Commander Thatch (are they an extension of the Whitebeards??) establishing the new ASL pirates spreads fast. That, and rumors that there's a beautiful young mermaid on board who can't swim. And despite the strength of the crew and their attempts at vigilance, Luffy's still dumb and gullible, and is kidnapped (and rescued) a dozen times before they're even on the Grand Line.
(after a few times, Luffy's uncharacteristically quiet, and privately asks Ace if they can break up the crew. She's holding Ace back; she not only made him come back to her, but half their adventures just seem to be her crew rescuing her. She's strong enough to defeat enemies, but not save herself. Ace tells her to shut up, and never bring this up again; they're BROTHERS, and he's not going to leave her behind or make her abandon her dreams when she can't accomplish them alone, and that's his choice. Luffy doesn't bring it up again, but works harder than ever to become stronger and earn recognition as co-Captain when the world seems intent on thinking of her as Ace's pet.)
During one of these kidnappings, Luffy's successfully brought all the way to an auction house before her crew can rescue her. An auction house that unbeknownst to them, was under investigation by the Revolutionary Army.
Liberating slaves is an unfortunately common mission for them, and Sabo's doing final sweeps as Koala frees the last of them when he notices a tank stowed away in a corner. He's familiar with these tanks, used to showcase mermaids in the rare occasions one can be caught, and it looks empty but he's still drawn to it for some reason.
It's only when he gets closer that he notices a mermaid crumpled at the bottom of the enclosure. She's completely slumped over, and he's afraid she's already gone, even as something about her screams with familiarity.
He's cracked the tank and has reached in to pull her out, when the wall behind him explodes in flames, revealing a furious Ace who snarls at the strange man with his hands on his baby brother...
...and then Sabo's memories come back.

A Secret That Hard To Keep
Davy Back Fight was really frustrating for Sanji, but even more frustrating was the fact that there was nothing on that island other than being really tall and long. He couldn't get himself any more suppressant, and the heat was approaching. He couldn't ask Luffy or Chopper for help, either, as he kept him being an omega as a secret from the crew. “Hey, Nami-swan?” “Yes, Sanji-kun?” "Do you think there's a lot to the next island?" “Hmm… The island where we did Davy Back Fight was a spring island and the temperature has been on the rise since we left. I think we're approaching a summer island. Today or tomorrow the island will be within our sight. Why Sanji-kun?" "There are some things I have to do..." “Hmm…” Delighted. If not tomorrow, he would enter the next day to heat, and he had not taken suppressant. It would be dangerous to take it after this time. So it was best to spend this heat in an omega hotel. “And Nami-swan?” “Yes, Sanji-kun? What is it again?" “Can I have some more money for our pause this time? Thing…" “Hahaha you can't control the alpha inside you huh. I'll let it this time as I'm in the same situation. It has been a long time since we left Alabasta and Vivi is no longer with me.” Alpha… yes absolutely yes. “You missed her so much, didn't you, Nami-swan?” It was not possible to see Nami thoughtfully other than she is at the top of the map, checking the weather or taking care of her oranges, but now she looked as if she was isolated. “Nothing happened Sanji-kun. Between her and I but… I felt like we were meant to be together but… But I didn't make any moves and now I regret it. But I'm also happy because even if something did happen, I would have to leave her behind and that would be more difficult, wouldn't it?" “You think so, Nami-swan?” “Do you have a different opinion?” “Well… I don't mean to offend you, but at least it would be a certainty if something had happened, right? After all, we can't be sure that Vivi-chan will still be our Vivi-chan when we go back, can we?" “Our Vivi-chan?” “I mean, Vivi-chan, who doesn't have a mate?” Nami was very surprised. She hadn't considered this possibility. "Do you think she doesn't think like me?" “Even if she thinks about it, Nami-swan… There are times when you can't control your inner alpha, right? For an omega, believe me, it's harder. Moreover, for omegas, mate means trust and home. The best feeling.” “You really understand omegas, don't you, Sanji-kun?” Damn it. “Hahahaha. I think. My mother was an omega.” “My older sister is also an omega, but I haven't had much time to take care of her. You know… because of Arlong…” “Nami-swan…” "Well, isn't it enough to be sad? You said you wanted more money, right? Ok then I have to make a budget adjustment. Can you make me some tea, Sanji-kun?" "Of course I'm bringing my beautiful Nami-swan right away." “Thanks Sanji-kun.”
**** Later in the day, Usopp was on watch again. Just when he was starting to get bored, he finally saw. "ISLAND!!! ISLAND APPEARED!!!” With Usopp's shouting, Luffy immediately sat in his private seat. "I am excited!!!! What kind of island will it be? shishishi!!! I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun." The excitement of the crew was very visible from the outside. With all of them on deck, Nami: “All of you listen to me! Regardless of whether the log pose is set or not, we will stay on this island for at least a week because now we deserve some rest. At least one person will be on ship each day. That's why we need to identify the people who stay on the ship for the next week. The rest can do whatever they want. In addition, I will give enough money for a week in quality rooms unless they are very expensive. Appreciate it, this is not something that will happen all the time.” After Nami's explanation, they all drew a circle around her. “First of all, Zoro?” "What witch?" "Don't call Nami-swan a witch, you stupid marimo." "Ha! You want a fight, curly-brow?” "Cut it out, both of you!" They fell silent when Nami hit them both. “Back to the topic, Zoro, how is your Rut?” “I'm on suppressant, Nami. Unlike you." “Oh shut up. Good good. Then you and chopper wait for the ship today and tomorrow, okay?” “Fine with me, Nami.” "Anyway, witch." “Robin and Usopp on the third and fourth day?” “Very convenient, Navigator-san.” "It's ok, Nami." "Good good. I'll probably be back on the fifth day. So Luffy, let's stay you and me." “You will be back for the sixth and seventh day, right Sanji-kun?” “Probably Nami-swan.” “Okay, then you stay. I'll probably stay too. If the log pose is set by then, we'll go in the morning of the eighth day. If it's not set, we'll adjust the rest later. That is, in the evening of the seventh day, everyone should return.” All together: "Ok!" "Beautiful. Then get in line and I'll give you your money. Use it carefully. Watch out for thieves. And to the bounty hunters… This is for you, especially Luffy and Zoro. Don't get in trouble!!! I really want to rest.”
*** They had finally reached the island. Sanji immediately took his necessary belongings and left the ship. His heat probably wouldn't even wait for tomorrow. He had to find an omega hotel to spend the night as soon as possible. Moreover, it should not be too close to the ship and the center, but it should still be a quality place. Finding such a thing is so— “I think I found it. The ship is not visible from here and is not in the center. Excellent." Sanji immediately entered the hotel. "Welcome, sir. How can I help you?" A very sweet lady omega greeted him. “Well… to spend my heat…” “You want a partner and room, right? Come with me. Let's make your entry. So you can quickly choose your partner and your room.” They walked together to the reception. First, they had a paper signed, which printed some necessary personal information and promised to abide by the important rules. “I assume you read the contract before you signed it, but I still want to warn you. We will take care of you during your heat, but scenting, biting, and bonding with your partner is strictly prohibited.” "Certainly." “Thank you so much for your understanding. Now I'm going to ask you to leave any dangerous items on you." “I have nothing but my dinner knives on me. Please pay close attention to them.” “You can be sure, sir. What kind of room would you like now?” “Hmm… do you have a plain and greenish room?” “Of course, as you wish. Well, during this time, no matter how hard it is to eat, you need to eat. What kind of food would you like?” “Do you have cooks that know East Blue tra-” "Of course there is. Ok. Then now it's time to choose your partner, male or female?” “Man please…” "Well. You would prefer it to be Alpha, wouldn't you?" "Please." "Ok. Then let's meet the available ones, shall we? Please follow me." Sanji had only one thing on his mind as he followed her. It was a secret that really hard to keep.

Easy Living, This Ain’t
#1/??? of Nuclear Winter
ZoNa Holiday 2020 Entry Prompt 1 (Snow Angel / All Wrapped Up)
@zonamievents
One Piece in Fallout Universe (kinda~)
AN: I’ve been playing Fallout 4 a lot and couldn’t help but think about what it would be like for One Piece in the universe, so please enjoy this snippet. Also, I haven’t done any creative writing in nearly three years and I ask for forgiveness if its rough. This piece isn’t heavily on about them being together just yet, though I plan to write more for the prompts and expand this better. Worked on this for about five to six hours straight to try and get it done in time, but it’s late. I’m still gonna squeeze my entry in though, hopefully! :)

I never regret The years that I’m giving They’re easy to give  When you’re in love  I’m happy to do whatever I do for you
There’s something about being within inches of death that suddenly makes blood rush faster and for all the words that hadn’t formed to break through the flood gates. Maybe it had just been the adrenaline talking, a need to achieve certain feelings before dying off and becoming one with the scattered waste of the world.
But, Nami would have only been lying to herself to try and pass that off as the reason as to why her lips shook out a hasty “I’m in love with you” towards Zoro’s direction before the last swing from the Deathclaw rattled the right side of her skull, sending her in the air through a concrete pillar and hot blood dripping into her eyes preventing her from seeing Zoro’s reaction to the words.
Because there was truth in the statement, though she was unsure of when during the six years of traveling with Luffy that the feelings had started. Had it been so early as to their first meeting? Seeing him face off Arlong along side their friends? Or maybe the time apart had built an unknown longing for two years that was finally becoming clear to her in the past few months?
Thoughts race like blood when you think you’re going to die. Nami had seen that in the time Bellemere died, how she had pushed to voice courage towards little Nojiko and Nami. This time was different than Bellemere, she had died being a protector to the end, and Nami would die because of her own rookie mistake.
As her eyes slipped closed from the world, it seemed Zoro had finally gotten serious and she could just barely make out his voice over her busted eardrums, but she did.
“Don’t die on me.”
*****
Living for you Is easy living  It’s easy to live  When you’re in love  And I’m so in love  There’s nothing in life but you
Nearly twenty hours earlier, Nami had very different plans for the day.
There was plenty of work to go around at the Strawhats main settlement; crops to be harvested, buildings to be constructed, purified water to be gathered, defenses to be fixed... And that was only here!
She had awoken just before four am had hit, the sun still hidden deep in the clouds, and Nami had decided that the weather would be alright for the day and that the impeding snowstorm would hold off for another day or two. The first thing on her agenda had been to check on the mikan trees and see if they were well.
Franky had created plenty of special greenhouses throughout their compound for Nami to keep her mikan trees safe, along with Robin’s flowers and Usopp’s pop greens to grow safely. She didn’t necessarily mind the thought of the mikan trees being among the other garden beds around the settlement, but she did worry about if people would only go to them for food rather treating the trees with upmost respect that Bellemere would approve of, let alone take care of them properly.
After three pulls on the door handle, Nami’s bedroom door finally gave way for her to exit it —Franky said that was the downside of working with rusty wasteland materials, maybe she could hire someone to look for newer, untouched supplies to get an upgrade. Though, by the head of swaying green before her, it wasn’t even her strength or the willingness of the door to give up, but rather Zoro who had forced the wood into action.
“Yo,” casual as ever, Zoro leaned on the wall opposite of Nami as she slammed the door back into place, not in anger, but the damn thing was too much trouble!
“I didn’t know you were back yet,” Nami rested her hands in her hair, combing it into a tangled ponytail, she could only manage to place her eyes at his nose, looking too closely into Zoro’s eyes lately brought on a heat she couldn’t control. If she kept her hands busy, they wouldn’t give away the noticeable shake and she could hold back the need to run away. “The way Brook talked, it seemed as if the raid would take longer.”
Zoro gave a curious peer towards her, tilting his head down as if that was the way to suddenly unearth what was different in the moment, “Well, it was supposed to, but Brook really wanted to add those instruments to his collection and threw any caution out the window.” A sly smirk stretched his lips and if Nami knew any better, she would say that was the truth, but a half-truth at that.
“And you also got lost, heading dead-center into their manpower?” Nami gathered her own smirk as his slipped to a scowl, the fire snapping to life in him and gearing up for their usually banter.
“Shut up! I wasn’t lost, the hallways kept changing their direction, I can make my way around fine without anyone else!” Zoro chewed out at her with more venom than necessary for her small comment.
Nami’s left eyebrow lifted, as she crossed her arms across her chest and cocked her hip out towards him, “Besides being here to tell me your prevarication, you came to see me for something, right? Your room is on the floor below this one. AND, whatever it is, is going to cost you, surely you don’t mind me raising your debt, hm?” She gave a cheshire grin that didn’t match with the sweetness her tone was tinted with, giving way to her true feelings as her brown eyes glinted gold.
The threat of a higher debt seemed to sour Zoro’s mood even more, “Don’t even think about it.” The reverb of his voice in his throat caused a twinge at the base of her spine and the gathering heat pulled Nami’s eyes to look into his finally, a pair of steel that seemed set on unraveling her. “You can take up your charges with Chopper, since he’s the one that wants the two of us to head out and gather something for him.”
His hand rested beside her head and the small height gap between the two was noticeable now, though she was unsure of the moment he had made his way so close to her own body, trapping Nami against her bedroom door.
That heat that wouldn’t go away was flooding her, she could barely keep her breathe together and she definitely wanted to run as she dug her nails into her palms to gain the last of her control to keep from sprinting.
The air hung tense for a moment, like Zoro had been sizing her up for some reason, his only good eye tracking the nervous jitter Nami’s body gave off. While his observation’s of her was making things worse, she found that by standing her ground she could regather herself and ducked beneath his arm, leading the way towards the greenhouse garden where her mikan trees resided.
He followed beside her, watching the way she smoothed her hands along her jeans with a hawk’s stare. Yes, she very much wanted to run away right now.
Yet, she couldn’t run. There was few people that Nami would deny if they asked her of something and that few included Chopper. “So, what is it exactly? It must be something quite important if Chopper wanted to hound on you right after getting back and pretty far if he’s wanting me to guide you there.”
“I’ve been back for two days, maybe you would have noticed if you didn’t avoid any area that we could overlap in,” Zoro had noticed more about her lately than she was hoping he would, and the pinched ire he held back somewhat showed he wasn’t pleased.
“I’m not avoiding anything!” Nami frowned as she balled up her fists at her side with a huff, “I’m a busy woman around here. It can’t be helped that when I get pulled into ten million directions that I don’t end up in the ones that you were lost in!”
Distracted by the jab at his sense of directions, Zoro seemed to drop the subject of her actions with the need to yell some more about how the world was just switching itself around as he walked, not that he could possibly be lost.
By the time the two had stopped bickering over it, Nami was punching in a button and the refurbished garage door was squeaking up to reveal her mikan trees in their full beauty. She inhaled a deep whiff of the scent that hit, and her mind seemed to relax completely as she took it in. There was no arguing, or someone needing her, or a world probably crushed beyond repair that was needing fixing. No worries, no overwhelming heat or tingles in her spine, just the moment of a far away home she couldn’t return to, a mother that was beautiful and gone, a sister that was picking at her.
It was nice to get lost for a second. But the sound of a sharp inhale beside her knocked her slightly out of it, turning towards the one who had made the noise to see Zoro... nervous? His hand clutched at his swords and his eyes were caught on her lips, her neck, her blissed out eyes. Nami could tell he was holding back, what that was she had no clue about, but her trance was completely broken, even as the heat reared its head again.
Zoro seemed to be stuck in the moment with her, the world around them having dropped far away. “Don’t avoid me,” his voice broke through the silence, his calloused hand coming to clutch her cheek and stray his thumb across her lips.
So close, too close.
His thumb dipped between her lips and she hummed a noise of commitment to him as her tongue slithered to give a drowsy lick to the digit. Nami’s mind raced yet was empty all at the same time, the intensity of Zoro’s gaze burned into her, and there seemed to be only one way this encounter could possibly end.
And it probably would have, with the way Zoro leaned closer, his other hand popping the button of her jeans.
Alas, there was still a world around them though that kept moving even when they were lost in daze.
The tiny pitter patter along the concrete gave away the incoming target and Zoro had half a mind to veer back the words he wanted to use as the reindeer grew closer.
“Another time,” Zoro had whispered to Nami, fixing the button and creating a healthy, normal distance between the two as if what happened didn’t occur at all.
Nami had to admit that she was in a bit of stupor as Chopper finally gave way under the closest lights of the hall to them, a jolly smile breaking out across his face as to seem he’d been searching for a bit for the two.
“Oiii!” Chopper shouted in delight, fastening his pace towards the two and inhaling the nice scent of the mikan’s. Chopper was too cute to allow something so indecent to happen in the presence of, “I checked for Zoro in his room and then tried to find you at yours Nami, but both of you were gone. I figured Zoro was lost somewhere, so I came to check here. What good luck I have!”
Though Zoro protested at the prospect of him being lost, the two still gave warm smiles to Chopper, Nami offering a soft scratch to the top of his head, partly to ease her shivering, but also as a small congratulations to the animal doctor.
“So, why were you looking for us, Chopper? Could it be about this thing you wanted us to go out and find for you that Zoro mentioned to me?” She peered down at him and his expression grew serious, it seemed today really wouldn’t be focused on getting work done around the place after all.
“Yeah, I wanted to catch you before you left. As I told Zoro, I’ve been doing a lot of different experiments and part of those experiments is using the blood from feral ghouls and I’m starting to run low on stock. Law told me about this group of scientists that had taken shelter in a factory on the other side of the state who were also doing some experimentation, but got killed by a pack of Deathclaws that have been living in there since. He’s sure that they made up nearly a hundred packs of feral ghoul blood.” Chopper had shrunk back down to his small size while talking and Nami had a frown on her face that deepened more and more as he told her the scoop of what he believed just the two of them could take on.
“He’s also wanting us to bring back the claws of the Deathclaws there, if possible,” Zoro interjected, his arms crossed over his chest now and leaning against the edge of the open door.
“Chopper, that’s nearly insane! Sure, Zoro could take on such a feat, but it would be a death sentence for me!” she was frazzled at the thought of getting stuck in a pack of Deathclaws who could easily tear her to shreds in an instance if they so pleased.
“That’s why Zoro should go with you! I believe that you could sneak in and steal the blood packs before the Deathclaws know you’re there, but if anything were to happen, Zoro could fight them off to protect you,” Chopper’s idea was rock solid and there was the chance she could do it, she had done it before a few years back, but that was sneaking around only one of them, not a bunch that most likely contained their children.
“Well, I guess it could possibly work out-” the gears seemed to finally scratch together in her head and she whipped down at Chopper with her hands on her hips and teeth sharpening with her words, “WAIT! Don’t tell me that you were planning for ME to go ALONE if Zoro or someone else wasn't available to go as well?!”
Chopper cried and jumped to hide behind Zoro’s legs, though he hid the wrong way to have part of him sticking out. “Like I said, I believe in you being able to easily sneak around without alerting them, but Zoro was the one who said that somebody should go with you, so I asked him and then he tried to say he could find it on his own, but there’s no way. He would definitely get lost and end up on the other side of the globe! Don’t you understand my predicament, Nami?”
He was giving her those big, watery eyes and her heart started to crack for him. Of course Chopper couldn’t leave as one of the main doctors around and on top that everyone was either gone or too busy with dealing with all the settlements they helped out to gather supplies for Chopper’s side project. That really did leave Nami, Zoro, and Brook, and he probably made the plan while the two guys were gone, leaving the task as something Nami would have to carry out.
A hefty sigh left her chest and that heat and tingles caused by Zoro seemed to completely disappear as her mind already began to gather ideas of the best and fastest routes to take across the state.
Nami straightened her back and closed her eyes to contain the last of her angry, “Alright, I guess it can’t be helped then, huh, Chopper?” She gave a small, tight smile to the tiny reindeer and made a mental note to try and trick Sanji to check in with Chopper in the future so he would be sent out on his suicide missions rather than her.
Chopper’s ecstatic shout echoed along the hallway, pulling the bag off his back to shove plenty of Stimpaks in Nami’s palms and then Zoro’s. “I made up a lot just in case you guys get in tight situations. These things can heal in a punch, but don’t forget that the best for the body is proper rest, diet, and caution.” The last part was directed at Zoro, by the way she had seen Chopper give a sharp doctors gaze at the man who was putting away the healing items with a bored look.
“Yeah, yeah, no worries. Don’t worry Chopper, we’ll be back by tomorrow night and without using any of these,” Zoro smirked proudly at the reindeer whose eyes were the ones to be glinting this time, the shining stars nearly bursting out to show his high thoughts of Zoro.
With a whimper, Nami rang her hand across her face. Just what had she gotten herself into?
...
And did he say Zoro was the one to volunteer to go with her?
*****
For you Maybe I’m a fool but it’s fun People say you rule me with one Wave of your hand Darling, it’s grand  They just don’t understand
It was nearly eighteen hours since they left the compound, her mikan trees all nicely taken care of, and an awkward air of silence created between the two. Well, it wasn’t necessarily awkward, but more of an overwhelming tension that was making her feel awkward as it dragged on more with nothing happening between the two of them.
At this point, Nami’s lips were worn away in all the wrong ways. She had been biting on them out of nervousness and she had also slide down a hill and smashed her face into a rock. If there was one thing to pick out from that accident just than Zoro’s laughing being the only time she had seen him show emotion since leaving, it would be the prospect of bad luck could be looming after the first incident.
The factory that Chopper had told them of seemed to be an old food packing plant, she gazed up the rusted back garage doors and to the very few windows the looming structure seemed to have. Zoro beside her did the same, since getting within half a mile of the place, his hand had been firmly planted and unmoving atop of the hilts of his swords.
The closest window to the ground that Zoro could possibly boost her to was near the left side and she waved her hand for him to follow over to it. He positioned himself to be right under it and readied his arms to toss her up enough that she would get through the window.
“If something goes wrong, yell,” there was a joking smile on his face, as if the thought of the signal being her scream rather than the obvious racked of Deathclaws going crazy would be what it would take for him to know she was in danger.
Nami rolled her eyes and shifted the weight of her bag to even out on her back, giving a few rolling huffs of air to prepare herself, “Yeah, yeah, let’s just get this over with,” she grumbled and pushed her body into his waiting grip.
Zoro’s right hand taking hold of her thigh and his left hand pushing into the belt of her jeans, sliding his thumb beneath the fabric for just a moment pop her panties on her hip, tossing her upwards as she gasped. The idiot was confusing her with each of his whims today.
Her hands gripped onto the creaking window frame and let herself drop through, positioning her body in the air to fall safely. As Nami’s feet had hit the ground, she kept a still stance and held her breathe, taking in the surroundings around her, finding that she was nicely alone in the space she landed in.
Feeling that the coast was clear at the moment, she kept a crouched stance, taking steps over the destroyed conveyor belts that was missing teeth mark shaped bits that were strewn across the room. If Chopper wanted Deathclaw claws, that could wait until another day after she found out how many were here and they could properly plan a strike, rather than race in and sustain more injuries than necessary.
As she shifted through the plant, trying to figure out where the lower stairs would be —Deathclaws liked being below the ground after all and that would be the most likely place that they would be and where these past scientists hid the blood from any prying hands— her mind drifted to Zoro.
Today had been confusing and all because of Zoro. She wasn’t used to his outward reactions towards her, let alone the thought of a mutual lust between the two. What exactly had changed so quickly during the past week for him to put himself out there and ready to jump Nami?
After working through four different room, picking up some canned food that could be put to use back home, the stairs finally appeared before her. And just beside them was a slim wall holder that contained a worn map, a big score for stumbling around in an abandoned place like this.
“Bingo,” she whispered to herself, fingering through the pages as quietly as the paper crinkles would allow, finding that there seemed to be two higher levels, the main floor she was on, and three basement floors beneath her.
That meant there was three floors she would have to crawl through in the hopes of finding these feral ghoul blood packs for Chopper and three floors of potential Deathclaws with however many that she didn’t know about. Nami’s skin broke out in bumps, worried sweat sliding down her chin, down her neck, and hitting the bare skin of her breasts. She was starting to regret the bra and tank top, but anything more and the sound would have given her away.
She pushed down the stairs, heading to the first basement floor to check through it.
Zoro had been so confident to undo her pants and take her right in the hallway where any of their friends could easily walk through and find them. The idea of such an occurrence brought the tingles back to her spine, Nami’s mind swirling around with just what he might do if he had seen that sweat, how his lips would fiercely attack the space of her breasts.
Half of this floor seemed to be clear so far, she dimly noted, nicking some metal scraps that were resting in a shipment of boxes. They were probably waiting to be unloaded and used to fix something in the plant before the nukes dropped.
The next set of stairs wouldn’t be too far and Nami knew that she should probably keep her senses in check, but Zoro just had to reignite that heat once again before she came in here.
It should have been gross, licking on his thumb like a kitten, but it was hot and the little bit of salty sweat residue tasted nice on her tongue. She wanted more of that, more of Zoro, but it was risky to think of anything past a nice romp in the bed. Though she didn’t take him as the type to hit and that be it, yet the thought of him having those same confusing feelings that laid past friendship or family or lust was odd.
Love.
The hints of feeling in love had been creeping through Nami’s mind for over seven months now and on top of that, Zoro caught on to the fact that she had been trying to distance herself from him to keep out any of those kinds of feelings taking a hold of her and rendering her a victim.
There was nothing wrong with being in love. She was so happy for Usopp and Kaya every time she saw the two of them in that special bubble of theirs.
But, the thoughts of how much harsher it would be to lose that person after taking that step into a different boundary, the pain of losing the only one who got to see you so intimately, that would be much worse than just losing close friends and family. She didn’t want to go through another death like Bellemere’s ever again.
So caught up in her head, Nami hadn’t even realized she found herself on the second basement floor until the smell hit her nose and she dived behind a desk decked with a busted up computer terminal.
Her breathe got stuck in her throat, a tiny whimper slipping out of her hands she covered over mouth.
She had been right about the Deathclaw children.
There had to be a dozen adult Deathclaws alone and over half a dozen of the children on this floor. In the past, the Strawhat crew had met a few friendly Deathclaws, but that was a different case than now. The way they growled, slinking around the room and sniffing, there was no doubt in her mind of the hunger that was in these Deathclaws. But, there was another stench of a smell she had recognized as well.
Peaking beneath the sliver of the desk, across the room there was stacks on stacks of labeled feral ghoul blood packs, just as Chopper had heard from Law, but it seemed that a few had gotten busted open and the smell of irradiated blood was mixing with the Deathclaw’s and creating something foul that made her stomach twist in sickening flops.
No matter where she seemed to look, there would be no way that Nami could reach the blood by sneaking around Deathclaw’s there was just no space to hide behind to reach the blood packs and any direction she went and the time spent grabbing them would only lead to her being noticed and most definitely killed.
Maybe if she could get back out and to Zoro, she could lead him into here to clear the place for her to gather the blood packs, or at least distract them long enough. But, there was no telling if there was more in the last basement floor and how many compared to the amount that was around her now.
With each second passing of her being on the floor like this, it was becoming apparent to Nami the predicament she was in.
Especially so when a throaty growl was too close to her ear and she could feel drool drooping along her leg.
Screwed, so screwed.
She had half a mind to actually turn and look to the predator, it’s mouth hanging open before her and the fangs glistening with saliva from the swinging lights above.
Her lungs burned from the scream she let out, the Deathclaw’s arm swinging down to crush the desk, Nami narrowly escaping the bloody death with a quick roll of her body. Hopefully the idiot Zoro had heard her, though she was uncertain if it would reach so far above compared to where she was in the basement.
All of the Deathclaw’s on the floor now had a nice eyeful of her spread out along the floor, like a snack before dinner for them, and below she could hear the rumble of more feet and claws racing to tear into her and make her bits.
The Clima Baton she had grown so used was being worked on by Usopp and so he had given her an overly upgraded laser pistol, but there was no way a laser pistol could get her out of this mess. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, they were the types to be able to get themselves out of this situation without worries, but Nami wasn’t them.
That was why the moment she raised the pistol, a Deathclaw rushed from behind and sent her flying into a wall. The wall of blood packs she needed to get. No doubt was her left leg broken and the pumping blood was driving the Deathclaws insane with thirst. There was a slight distraction though, as Zoro finally burst forth, bringing out all three of his swords and slicing right through the first one to attack her.
Nami knew that she should probably get somewhere safer, but the reason they were here for Chopper came first. Zoro could take care of the Deathclaws and she could get the blood.
She whipped around her bag, throwing the flap open, and pushing the blood packs in by the arm full. There was a Deathclaw rearing itself up for an attack at her, but she almost had them all in her possession and Zoro would take care of it, right?
But, it’s claws still came racing for her, tearing away the tattered tank top in the first swipe and cutting open her stomach with the second.
“Nami!” She could make out Zoro calling out to her, but she couldn’t see him beyond the rush of the lower floor Deathclaws surrounding him, the space of the whole floor seemed to be taken up by the creatures.
Hope was growing dark for her.
And that was how Nami had gotten into this moment.
She sent her secured bag to Zoro through the Deathclaws, and prepared herself for this to be it. It was one of those moments that her brain just wasn’t thinking properly and death seemed inevitable now.
Even though she was scared of loving someone, scared of dying, scared of ruining that person she loved, Nami broke out into one more smile.
“I’m in love with you.” Zoro’s face peaked through the wall of Deathclaws and her words reached him, she hoped, as the arm of the nearest one swung into her, giving her a final look of its stretching skin tinged pink, the bent horns of a devil, and the foot long claws that hurt like a bitch.
The concrete pillar it launched her into could have been nice, save for the fact of her head not being wrapped around it.
Zoro’s voice echoed out to her as her eyes slid shut.
“Don’t die on me.”
*****
Living for you Is easy living  It’s easy to live When you’re in love And I’m so in love There’s nothing in life but you
It was with a harsh thumping in her head, that Nami had awoken to a delicious warmth enveloping all over her. Such a nice warmth that she couldn’t resist nuzzling herself deeper into it, the feeling of her ear brushing over prickled skin like a scar.
A scar...
“Oi, you finally came to,” Zoro’s voice was low, even, though she didn’t miss the way his chest shook with a relieved sigh he seemed to have been holding in.
“Mmm, everything hurts,” Nami whined and cracked her eyes open, noticing first that Zoro was missing the top clothes he had on earlier then realizing that she was now wearing his jacket along with fabric wrapped around her head, waist, and leg. “Isn’t this a bit much?” she mumbled, shifting her body to get a better view of his face.
“What’s a bit much is you forgetting that Chopper gave you stimpaks to use and then proceeding to throw your bag at me,” he glared down at her and she sighed, that was right, she did have medical supplies that would have helped her, but she instead made the decision to be an idiot.
“Sorry... I was.. too caught up in my head,” Nami had tilted her gaze away from his as it was piercing her too much and she needed a relief and when she looked around them, the bodies of all the Deathclaws that had been crawling among the basement was dead now and their hands and feet were missing the claws. “At least you got the other part of why we were here, huh? Chopper will be happy.”
“He won’t be happy to see you in this state knowing he was the one to send you out here,” Zoro’s hand cautiously came to rest on the top of her head, stroking her orange locks at a steady pace. “Love, huh?”
She could hear the way his lips curled around the words and a blush crawled over her cheeks at the thought of her hasty confession. Nami raised her fist, slamming into the side of his head with a screeching “shut up” accompanying it.
But, the hit did nothing to rid Zoro of the teasing smile. “I guess trying to take pages out of Brook’s philosophy was all wrong,” he whispered thoughtfully, laying his lips to hers for a brief moment of fireworks, but he pulled away too quickly for her to enjoy it.
“Eh? Brook?” She let her head fall into a tilt as Zoro gathered her up into his arms in a bridal style, lifting her up and throwing both of their bags into her lap. Nami guessed that now she was awake and he knew she was going to live, he was fine with getting out of this place.
“Yeah, he was saying that when you try to go after a woman, you have to be over the top and come on strong,” a smirk strung across his face and a chuckle echoed around, “and then you will definitely get into their panties.”
Her eyes nearly rolled out her head, “Oh my god, seriously?! That’s why you were suddenly coming onto me? Cause you wanted to get me out of my panties? I didn’t realize that you and Sanji actually were so similar,” she poked at his buttons to tease him. Of course she should have known he was going by what someone else said.
“Oi! Don’t compare me to the shitty cook!” His foot rose to slam through the rest of the garage door that hadn’t been cut up and as the shanty metal clattered on the ground, piles of snow could be seen rising along the hills before them as more fell down from the sky.
Her smile drooped a bit, “I’ve been out for a whole day?”
Zoro sighed behind her, pulling her in closer to keep the cold away from her body, “Yeah, but it doesn’t seem you’re too bad off.”
“I guess we have plenty to talk about later on...” Nami’s voice drifted off as she wrapped his jacket tighter. There was something nice in this moment, a relief to know that her time hadn’t come, that Zoro was trying to work towards something with her, and being all wrapped in Zoro’s clothes and body.
Yes, it was wonderful, the warmth coming back, and that she wasn’t alone in those tingles that tickled her spine.

A postcard home
This is for the Tumblr event the wonderful @zonamievents organised, today’s prompts are postcard and hot cocoa. I picked the former.
Summary: Nami thinks she’s so smart and cunning, but she can’t pull the wool over her own sisters’ eyes. Rating: K.
This can also be found on AO3 and FFN.
I’ve never written a no dialogue story before and I wanted to try it.
Enjoy.
Snow had finally settled over Cocoyasi village. It was late this year and everyone in the village had wondered if this would be the first year that they wouldn’t have any before Christmas. It was a big topic for weeks and Nojiko was slightly relieved when it did arrive so everyone would stop talking about it. Although, it certainly did highlight a change for the better. Gone were the times of discussing Nami or hiding from Arlong and his crew when they rampaged or banding together when someone was short on money.
It was a lovely, mundane difference.
The only issue with the arrival of snow, other than villagers now moaning about how hazardous the snow was, was that it was a tough season for Bell-mère’s mikan orchard. Don’t get her wrong, it looked beautiful, snow settled on top of the trees and hints of orange poking through the white, but it meant smaller than usual mikan’s.
Nojiko’s brought out of those thoughts when she heard the crunching of shoes against snow and it’s the mailman looking slightly out of puff. It wasn’t really a quick trip to her house from the village and the snow only made it harder. But she doesn’t dwell on that, because seeing him meant that it could only be one thing being delivered and it had her skipping towards the door to meet him there.
The door’s shutting quickly after his first knock and it’s probably a bit rude, he had clearly wanted to chat, but they can do that anytime, she wanted to look at this as soon as possible. Her fingers are itching.
It had been a while since she’d heard from Nami.
The envelopes open and she’s greeted by the picture of a large Christmas tree, decorated to the nines, on the front of the postcard. It’s a generic picture but it’s normally whatever Nami can get hold of but Nojiko’s still slightly impressed she managed to predict when it’d get here and find one to match that. Their postcards could take anywhere from a month to six to get to the other.
Flipping it over, she scanned the message:
       Everything’s good. Nothing new.
Nami’s messages were always short and to the point. It was hardly like Nami could go into great detail. Firstly, where would she find the time? And secondly, information was brief so nothing could be traced should the postcard be intercepted. And that was fine, it was enough just to know her sister was okay. Also, it meant if information was brief Nami would send photos along in an envelope with the postcard and she loved those.
And low and behold, there they were behind the postcard.
They were hardly ever works of art, but they were always fun and just from those still images Nojiko knew Nami was having the time of her life. Like she deserved to. Also, it was nice to see her sister, even if it wasn’t in person.
But the photo she’s currently looking at is a stark contrast to her sister’s words on the postcard. It’s a group shot of the crew and its chaos, some looking at the camera like good models, others laughing or bickering or extra limbs were sticking out of them, but that’s not what caught her attention.
It’s the man standing next to Nami.
Roronoa Zoro.
She remembered his stern expressions well from back then, always ready for the worst and, she reckoned, hoping for it at times if the blood thirsty gleam in his eyes she’d seen briefly was any indication. But she’d seen first-hand how all of that would melt away after victory or when he was offered alcohol and would laugh at the antics of his crew. A brute with a soft heart, it seemed.
To an average person, with no knowledge of the people in the photo, it would look like nothing, but call it a sister’s intuition… and, okay fine, the trashy gossip magazines she’s been buying to keep tabs on her sister between postcards, it’s certainly not an accurate description of Nami’s words ‘nothing new.’
They’re stood close together in the chaos, much closer than what one would deem friendly (Maybe she’s being over critical, sue her), neither facing the camera as they looked to be arguing. Nami’s finger is pointing at his chest and their faces are close as they exchange words, Usopp’s next to them looking exasperated. So nothing new apparently.
She’d seen the way those two were around each other before they’d left the village and she’d quietly hoped there would be some development. She had to play it cool with Nami though, show too much interest and she’d never find out without a face-to-face conversation. But with how brief their postcards are, she’s left analysing photos and trashy magazines with blurry photos of the two of them together. One time, it looked like they had been kissing off in the distance, but the quality was so poor most people didn’t believe it. But Nojiko could spot her sister anywhere.
Was it too much to ask for photographers to focus their damn snail before taking photos?
Nevertheless it was enough for Nojiko. Flicking through the rest of the photos she was disappointed that there was no more of the two together. Nami was such a tease, dangling a carrot in front of her just out of reach. But she couldn’t be too disappointed when she came across the photo of Nami with her mikan trees… and if she squinted, was there a splash of green hair she saw hidden in the trees?
Nojiko wasn’t born yesterday, Nami’s definitely playing with her. She’d spent her childhood growing up with Nami, she knew her sister like the back of her hand. But it still amused her that Nami tried to trick her, make her work for the information. It’s so like her.
A real witch, you might be tempted to say.
Quite fitting really. A brute and a witch, both too soft for their own good at times.
In the quiet of her little home, she went back to the first of the photos and was still as she gazed down at the photo, almost like she was trying to soak it all in. Her gaze occasionally taking in the rest of the crew, but ultimately it stayed on Nami. Taking in her long orange hair playing in the wind, eyebrows furrowed and mouth open like she’s in the middle of a lecture. Despite the expression, there’s no weight to Nami’s expression, like there used to be back then. It made Nojiko happy. That was what she’d always wanted for her, wanted her to be where she belonged- at sea, even if it split them apart.
And it seemed Zoro had a part to play in that now, even if it wasn’t one hundred percent confirmed (To Nojiko it was but try telling that to the other villagers).
With one last long look at her sister, Nojiko was opening the envelope again to slip in the postcard and photos, ready to venture down to the village to show the others. However, as she did, the items were met with resistance and when she peered in, she’d missed something else.
Another photo.
With the new photo in hand, Nojiko’s serene smile curled into something much sharper. A mixture of glee and smugness that screamed ‘I knew it!’. It was probably for the best Nami wasn’t here, because that look alone would have her back up, like a cornered cat.
There was less of the crew is this photo, only the five that had been at Arlong park and it looked like they’d finally got their act together. All of them looking at the camera, Luffy’s arms stretched around to bring them all in and even with less of them, it still managed to be just as busy.
But that’s not what caught her eye, no. It’s the arm that’s wrapped around Nami’s waist and a Nami’s head resting on a shoulder. An arm that belonged to Zoro and Nami’s head on his shoulder. Both of them are smiling at the camera, leaning into one another and Nojiko doesn’t have to read between the lines this time to have her confirmation that they are indeed together.
She doesn’t stop to stare at it like the others because she’s too giddy and excited to stand still.
With a skip in her step, she’s shoving the photos and postcard into the envelope and slipping on her coat as she made her way towards the door. All the while thinking about how she wanted to play this with Genzo, so she could get the best possible reaction from him. He’d be horrified no matter what, but she really wanted to milk it. She had to get her kicks somehow.
And, she had some money to collect from some villagers. She was Nami’s sister after all, she’s always down for some easy cash- she just has no idea why they bet against her.
.
.
.
Two months later
It’s warm, the sun’s high and they’re making good progress towards the next island. For the time being, it’s something that doesn’t require her attention and she’s just about to walk across the deck to join Robin for some sunbathing when she heard the familiar cry of the News Coo.
Looking into the sky, it circled a few times before starting its descent and Nami was walking over to meet the bird at the railing.
Unlike the normal newspaper she bought weekly, it was a sealed envelope and Nami was quickly paying off the bird, barely taking notice of the price increase, so she could quickly open her letter. There was only one person this could be from.
The postcard was simple, just a picture of an orange cat, but based on the photos that slipped out of the envelope, it’d been sent around Christmas. Nojiko and Genzo were in one of the photo’s surrounded by snow.
She looked at it for a moment longer, thinking about where she would frame the photo before turning her attention to the letter. Nami had thought it was hilarious when she’d sent her postcard off to Nojiko, just leaving enough crumbs for her to figure it out so when she flipped the card to read the message, she gave a short, sharp laugh.
Nojiko had figured it out alright.
Nice try. Since when did you take an interest in plant life?
-------------------
By plant life, am I referring to Zoro’s nickname Marimo? Yes, yes, I am.
I love the thought of Nami and Nojiko sending little postcards and photos to one another.
As always, please forgive any errors (especially as I rushed this to post on time).
Thanks for reading.
