Hellooo, I have a question about Billford in your au.

how do they get a chance to get together if both Mabel and Stanley are keeping a sharp eye on them, and forbidding them of any romantic relationships?

They are NOT keeping a sharp eye on them.

Mabel has identified Bill as a needy ex, and is determined to get him to move on—but like, he's gonna be dating around town! She's gonna meet a couple of the people he goes out with! (We're using the word "people" really loosely here.) And Bill's attitude toward Ford has evolved from "hey buddy, don't you wanna be buddies again, buddy??" to "if you don't like me then why bother." So getting Bill to move on is totally working, right?

(I DO still need to edit a couple scenes in some early chapters for TBOB compatibility on this front—but that basically only means Mabel's going from "I need to help Bill make new friends and keep him away from Ford so he won't be a jerk toward him" to "I need to help Bill make new friends and keep him away from Ford so he won't be a jerky ex toward him." Either way, she's mostly concerned about Bill being a jerk.)

Stan has realized Ford's weirdly obsessive over Bill... but not THAT kind of obsessive. It's like "interview him about his species while vivisecting him" obsessive. Like so. Ford gets like this about stuff! Stan might not have a damn clue what autism is but he sure as hell has seen his brother's special interests! He tried to kill that triangle for thirty years, this obsession is not coming from a place of love. He's worried about Ford—but he's NOT worried about romance.

As a bonus, the two of them DIDN'T have a past relationship—they're not actually exes, they just spent the 80s being weirdly homoerotic—so there's no grounds to worry that they might "get back together." Bill's current feelings on Ford are more mixed; but at this point in the fic, Ford honestly, genuinely, truly hates Bill with no romantic interest.

Plus, once romance creeps onto the table, Ford thinks "if anything happens between Bill and me, my family would never forgive me (and I'd never forgive myself)" and Bill thinks "if anything happens between Ford and me, the Pines would murder me, and that might not be hyperbole." They'll be motivated to downplay their feelings for each order before feelings even start to happen.

Bill & Ford tend to clam up around each other or only have shallow surface-level conversations when other people are around. When they DO have serious heart-to-heart discussions they trip and stumble into them when no one's listening. (They keep having serious conversations at midnight, usually in the kitchen. It's happened like, what, four times so far?) This is gonna continue in future chapters. Oh, boy is it gonna continue.

So during this time period, as far as anyone else knows, on a scale of 0 = sheer loathing to 10 = passionate love, Ford's feelings for Bill go from 0 to 2 and Bill's feelings for Ford go from 3 to 1.

It doesn't help that their idea of flirting is "spend an entire day arguing about whether or not Minnesota exists and compromise by agreeing the backs of dollar bills are blank. Tell no one how this is a compromise." This is some kind of shrimp romance.

(This is an actual upcoming chapter, and I wrote it like a week before TBOB came out where Bill has a whole paragraph about how Minnesota doesn't exist. Originally the chapter was about Wyoming. I still think Wyoming works better than Minnesota but I'm tickled "Bill claims a state doesn't exist" is canon.)

Add that all up? And by the time anyone realizes something's going on—IF anyone realizes something's going on—they've been licking each other's eyeballs and roleplaying erotic deicide for weeks.

(This is a slight exaggeration. Only Bill's into eyeball licking.)

It was a cool idea and I always love when creators take inspiration from how similar Marinette's name is to another word for a kind of puppet "Marionette"

But before I forget, I'll end this post on one of my akumanette's that I tried to squeeze in but never got to. But I did make more art for and I remember the story!

I remember having a background planned but I never really got around to it. Basically the story was that marinette got akumatized but managed to take off her earrings in time. I think the reason for her akumatization was connected to figuring out the secrets that Emilie had been hiding with the peacock miraculous (BEFORE we knew that adrien was a sentimonster).

Tikki had to bring the earrings to Chat Noir and he had to find someone that looked ENOUGH like Ladybug that Hawkmoth wouldn't notice as much that Ladybug wasn't actually there. Enter Mireille cause at the time a few people were pointing out how similar she looked to the dupain chengs.

Akumanette's powers had something to do with casting depression? I think? In the form of dragons? Oh, Also she travels by walking on the dragons so thats cool

I don't remember everything but I did have a lot planned for her.

Currently not working on any fics, since I just came out of 10 weeks of summer research where my days began at 8 am and ended at 9 pm for probably less than minimum wage hahaha (doing research is a Bit Sad but I get a whole month to relax before classes start again so thank goodness for that)

Finally working on Homuncular Nature again!! I definitely do have a lot of plans and cool scenes playing out in my head for the next chapter, it’ll just come down to when I actually put pen to paper (or stylus to iPad) to actually organize and write them all. The road block I think is that I have seen neither Albedo nor fmab very recently and all my concrete ideas are for around the 30 episode mark for fmab, the turning point with the first actual confrontation against father and the subsequent Briggs arc.

Rewriting Ten Thousand Maple Leaves! A lot of people have been very kind but I think I missed the mark with my first chapter to be honest. My writing has gotten a lot wordier and less succinct, which feels like I’m filling a chapter more with fluff and unnecessary description than actual content. I think I also dislike how I characterized Sanemi and how quickly Kazuha was willing to agree with things. Writing both of them is kind of a difficult challenge tbh! I think in rewriting it I want to give back to Kazuha more of his vagrant role in the games, where he is avoiding the law for reasons somewhat out of his control.

Ebisu siblings content! I think it might be fun to try having them interact with more of the canon characters in kny but I also think there’s some value in a complete sort of outsider point of view when inserting characters into a piece of media. I feel like whenever I see self inserts I see a lot of ocs making themselves indispensable and making meaningful relationships with existing characters that way and that’s totally valid! That’s a lot of what I do for crossovers as well. I think when it comes to my own ocs though, I want them to feel grounded in some form and the reality of it is that none of the characters I make based on myself or real people are that impressive or remarkable. But I also think there’s a lot of value in showing smaller scale things outside of the main interactions and plot to show that even though we aren’t remarkable, we still have our own meaningful connections and ideologies and stories :) in the end the Ebisu siblings are a lot more visual though so I may just continue making doodles and art without writing anything haha

Kirby & Meta Knight ageswap AU: I was mostly doing this on my ask-gikabi sideblog in short form comics, but I lost sight of what I wanted to do after making the discord and starting to interact with some of the people who followed it. I think a lot of people are inspired and have their own very cool ideas that I wanted to take into account but then eventually it was no longer my story or the story I wanted to tell, which is why I’m thinking of restarting it as a fic. This one is still in very rough idea stage though, I have honestly no clue how I’m even going to begin organizing it

Yanfei ace attorney crossover: this one’s just pure crack lmao I would definitely write it as crack taken seriously but I think this is fun to explore just for small ideas that pop up every now and then, i.e. yanfei is semi-immortal because she’s half adeptus so it would be Really Funny to me if she showed up in dgs era, got her attorney’s license, went into hiding after it became obvious that she wasn’t aging, and then re-emerged after rebranding herself as her own daughter or granddaughter. That, and I have a lot of fun imagining someone as pragmatic as yanfei trying to get through the sheer chaos of aa despite being otherworldly

Continuing winter weather advisory: I got to a really good point in that fic and was rereading it today like,,, damn I wrote that? And it would be fun to see where I planned on going with it so I do want to also try working on that a bit if I can

Kazuha & Kunikuzushi role swap au: this is something I posted about a Long While ago but it’s an idea I continue to be fascinated with :) I especially enjoy how these two characters could have had completely different roles and personalities depending on how their pasts happened (with wanderer being so nice and turning so bitter and kazuha growing up so spoiled (for lack of a better word) and turning out so weary and yet kind

Link click and mha crossover: this one is honestly just a very recent idea but I think it would be fun to make a drabble on how lightime photo studio would be able to continue operating even in another world and the trouble they might get into for illegal quirk usage and what using cheng xiaoshi’s powers in a world where being able to tell the future is canonically possible would entail

I have!! So many ideas!! And not enough time or motivation to actually write any of them most of the time :’)

Wow... We've reached part 6 of this thing, the Reaper King AU 💀. I will be honest, this is the most I have written in years... Writing used to be the one thing I couldn't stop myself from doing... but... Somewhere along the lines I lost my passion for it. This is the first time in AGES I have had so much fun doing the thing that I love. And I gotta say I hope y'all are enjoying reading this half as much as I enjoy writing it :)

TW: As per usual, this touches on some darker topics. So you've been warned.

Part 6

-It takes KC a while to truly figure out how to use the App properly... But he gets the hang of it eventually.

-Although he does get a few more 'Old Man' jokes from Bloodmoon as he's figuring it out.

-The fact that he's a robot having trouble figuring out a dating app is not even acknowledged though.

-The conversations between KC and the Ranger, whose name is Harper (Yes, I have finally figured out their name and their a very tomboyish young woman in her early 30s with brown hair and emerald green eyes.) are very casual and friendly. Mostly talking about shared interests.

...Movies...

-The Friday the 13th movies are underrated along with the Nightmare on Elm St series. The original Jurassic Park movies are timeless. Godzilla movies are wonderful and best enjoyed in a large screen setting like with a projector or at a drive in.

-And to this day no one has a clue what the hell was up with Halloween 3.

KC: Honestly some of the B rated horror movies are better than the big budget movies nowadays... More entertaining.

Harper: Preaching to the choir, completely agree :)

...Pets...

Harper: I'm a dog person, I had a husky up until recently... Sadly she passed and I just haven't had the heart to get a new one yet. Not to mention my job; I would have to get a pretty well behaved dog to have it out here.

KC: I have one dog (Petting Muerte, the Moon Wolf alpha) but I take care of a lot of others... My eldest has a dog as well.

...he watches as Bloodmoon is having a full tug-of-war with a bone in his mouth with the two headed/deformed wolf that he has named HunterKiller...

KC: Completely reflects how he is as a person...

...Hobbies...

-As it turns out Harper has a love for legends, myths and all sorts of tall tales especially stories about cryptids. She's obviously extremely outdoorsy and would rather spend her life hiking the trails than sitting in front of a computer screen. The pay for working at the park she is currently working in is also really good... Probably because they can't seem to keep employees long term.

KC: Aren't you scared? There's a lot of disappearances in this area...

Harper: I am not gonna lie, I have... Seen some stuff. In the mists. I think... Eh, you probably won't believe me.

KC: You would be very surprised what I would believe.

Harper: I... I... think I encountered some of the forests cryptids once. I was out hiking and... Just these two forms amongst all that mist. I just froze... Then backed away and ran.

KC: I believe you. Strange things live out here... Were you afraid?

Harper: Well yeah... But... I always kinda had the theory that if you were respectful and left the cryptids alone... They'd leave you alone. I saw them, or at least thought I did, and I backed up and left the area. In kind of a hurry I admit... But I am not one of those people who go out looking for trouble. And judging by the fact that I am still alive, I think that theory might hold water.

KC: That's a good philosophy... I don't think it's completely accurate. But a very decent way of looking at things.

Harper: What's your theory?

KC: That it's nothing personal.

Harper: ?

KC: These cryptids hunt and kill indiscriminately. It's nothing personal to them. It's like a wolf hunting a deer... Maybe they have some scruples about what they hunt, but whatever they do kill... it's nothing personal. Respecting their domain won't always save you, but you'll probably live longer than most.

Harper: ...

KC: ?

Harper: And that is why I would rather deal with cryptids, monsters and legends than live in a concrete jungle amongst other humans any day.

...Family...

KC: I have a big family, all adopted and brought together by odd circumstances... My eldest is a young adult. My second eldest is a young teenager and it shocks me how mature he is. As he's definitely more mature than his older brother. Then my first daughter, she's growing so fast. She's so protective of her siblings and even me. Then there's my twin boys, who are a pair of mischievous little gremlins. Then there my four year old, she's very shy. Clings to my eldest like glue, which is surprising because he can be abrasive. And then there's my youngest, only a few months old now. But I can already tell she's going to be an energetic little hellion when she gets older. I love them all so much ♥️

Harper: Wow

KC: Is there a problem?

Harper: No no, just... Are they okay with you dating? I know sometimes kids don't like their parents dating. I don't want to upset your family.

KC: Actually they set this account up for me.

Harper: Oh ok. But based on your description they sound wonderful

KC: Do you have any family?

Harper: ...not really, I was an only child. My parents passed away in a car accident. No aunt's, uncle's, cousins or anything. I'm just kinda here by myself. Some friends actually made this account for me as a joke about a month ago. And... You're the only person who has had any interest in talking to me here. I was thinking about deleting this thing just before you started talking with me.

KC: Funny how the world works.

Harper: Is it nice?

KC: What?

Harper: Having a big family like that?

KC: It's the greatest joy in my life. There are times we disagree and argue, yes. But being surrounded by the ones you love the most and who love you back... There's nothing comparable.

Harper: Sounds lovely

-They talk back and forth like this for a few weeks. Before they finally opt to meet and go on a date.

...the date...

Upon KC's suggestion they are going to go on a hike on one of the shorter, but still challenging trails. One of Harper's favorites. He states that he'll be bringing her a red rose, so she will know who he is. She stated he didn't need too, but KC insisted. Harper actually gets to the beginning of this trail a little early and is quite nervous... Will they get along well in person? Will he like her?

...she didn't notice the approach of the towering 9ft tall creature garbed in a cloak, with a large glowing red core upon his chest until he was standing right next to her... She turns to see Killcode right next to her, but before she can do anything at all-

He holds out a single red rose. 🌹

There was a moment where the proverbial hamster fell off the wheel in Harper's head... But after a long moment everything finally caught up with her and she realized exactly what was going on.

Harper: Oh um... Hi...K...C?

Killcode: (Awkward smile)

They begin that hike... At first things are a bit tense and more than a little awkward. But they do begin talking, KC assuring Harper this isn't a trick or trap or anything... Harper asks a few questions of her own. But things become less tense. After a bit, things gradually go from being tense to calm, to friendly... And about an hour into the hike they are conversing like friends.

By the time they reach the halfway point of the hike, the moon has risen into the sky and any lingering awkwardness has completely evaporated and they stop and just look at the nights sky.

Harper states this is the best date she's ever been on...

KC points out that this is the only date he's ever been on...

They both laugh. Although KC starts to turn his gaze towards the forest more and more as they continue on the second half of the trail... Until he finally stops and crosses his arms. Looking at something that Harper cannot see.

KC: Young lady... Is there a reason you're following us?

...wordlessly Wisp emerges from the forest, bathing the entire area in a soft blue glow. Harper cannot help but stare at the little girl that is made of flames before her. She floats up and sits in KC's arms, allowing him and Harper to see the thing on her neck.

Harper: Is that... Is that one of those little cameras people put on their cats?

KC: (Gets horrified) Bloodmoon did you put a cat spy camera on your little sister?!

(Elsewhere Bloodmoon and the others slam the laptop closed)

...It wasn't until just before sunrise, after Harper had finally finished cleaning up the station that it really dawned on her at that moment that she is now dating one of the most feared local cryptids.

Harper found the situation both adorable and hilarious... And she admittedly was trying to avoid laughing too hard at the sight. But Wisp looked Harper up and down before moving in close and whispering to her father.

Wisp: I like her. She has a kind heart.

The girl then disappeared back into the forests from whence she came... While KC muttered about how Bloodmoon was going to be in sooo much trouble when he got home.

Rather than their date simply ending at the end of the trail, Killcode actually accompanies Harper back to the Ranger Station... Which was beneficial because much to Harper's dismay, those racoons had returned and had promptly locked her out of the cabin again. And the sounds of chittering and ransacking of the fridge can be heard even from outside.

Harper: (Growls) Evil little trash pandas...

KC: Maybe I can be of some assistance here?

Harper: If you wanna try, but they're tricky little things... The last time they locked me out I had to sleep in my Jeep. This time I am just going to go get the ladder and get in through the upstairs window... Which I started to leave open delibrately to handle these raccoon invasions.

Killcode says nothing as he walks towards the door and actually phases through it... Everything grows eerily still for a moment, before the loud, booming voice of Killcode echoes through the area like cannon fire.

KC: GET OUT!!!!!!!

Immediately the door flies open and at least a dozen raccoons run out... With their high pitched and fearful chittering sounding far more human than Harper can recall hearing before... Hell she swore she heard something along the lines of 'How were we supposed to know she was the mate of the Reaper King?!'

...yeah she's thinking too far into it...

Still KC just calmly unlocked the front door and walked outside. Expressing that he had a wonderful time tonight and would love to do this again. Something Harper happily agrees too...

They make plans to meet up again in the coming days. Before KC bids her good night and he retreats back into the forest so quickly that he just seemed to vanish...

...and she is perfectly fine with it :)

The only problem? The portals were angled so when two turtle mutants fell out of them they collapsed on top of each other.

The two groaned, shifting and collapsing into an even bigger mess on the floor.

“Ugh, what hit me?” The red-eared slider mutant, shifted to prop himself arms with his arms.

The other quickly got his bearings, immediately sitting up when he heard the familiar voice. “Leon?”

The red-eared slider turned. “Leo? What are you doing here? I was not expecting another one of these situations to be happening.”

“I don’t think this is another situation like that…” Leo looked around, trying to figure out what happened. “Huh. This isn’t my world, but it isn’t yours either. It seems to be some sort of place where multiple worlds can hang out? I mean there’s a lot of versions of us here, so maybe there’s a big threat that needs to be handled that needs a bunch of us helping out.”

Leon rolled his eyes fondly. “Dude. Chill. There’s literally a big banner that says ‘TMNT Best Sibs Comp’, so I don’t think there’s a big threat to the universe or anything like that.”

“Comp? Like competition?” Leo asked, interested. He got a competitive gleam in his eyes. “How do we win?”

“I have no clue. But hey! At least we’re in our own bodies. It’d suck if we just got thrown here while we were switched.” Leon said, standing up. “But we can agree that this is so cool, right? Just like Jupiter Jim and the Jim Jupiters!”

“I think you mean Space Heroes Episode 329: The Trans-Dimensional Crew!” Leo responded. “But heck yeah this is cool! I know we’ve kinda already had the whole other worlds thing figured out, but this is wayyy different. There’s so many different versions of you around here!”

Leon grinned. “I know right!? I wonder if everyone here has the switching thing. I know there’s probably differences between each group, but not everyone, right? Also JJ and the JJs is way better than that Space Heroes episode. 20 minutes of a tv series is nothing compared to a full JJ movie!”

“Yeah it’d be so weird if we’re the only versions of us that switch. Wait, what if the switching isn’t with us, but with our brothers!” Leo gasped. “And how dare you disrespect Space Heroes. Just because it’s a show doesn’t make it any worse that Jupiter Jim. I’ll even say it makes it better than Jupiter Jim!”

“Oh my god, imagine a world where Donnie switches! Jupiter Jim’s better.”

“I’m pretty sure your brother would have somehow just consumed my Donnie’s soul. There’s no way those two would be able to coexist like we do. There’s no beating Space Heroes.”

“Don’t doubt your Donnie, just because mine is more showy with his craziness doesn’t mean yours isn’t equally unhinged. Jupiter Jim.”

“You know who’s really unhinged? My Raph. Especially compared to yours. Space Heroes.”

“Ha! They would never be able to hide it! There’s no way they could ever pretend to be the same person — they’re just too different! Jupiter Jim.”

“Just imagine Raph in Raph’s huge body. Space Heroes.”

“Honestly a bit terrifying. Jupite– oh look, a bracket! Looks like a tournament style thing. Though only the first matchups are shown…” Leon got distracted from the back and forth by a big screen showing the standings.

“Hm? Where are we on it?” Leo turned his head to see where Leon was looking, scanning the list.

“I don’t know, there’s a bunch of weird names for each group. Which makes sense, it’s not like they can just write our names, with everyone being the same person and all.” Leo drummed his shell as he looked.

“Soul Switching? You think that’s us?” Leo asked.

“Where’s that? Oh, yeah, could be. Bit on the nose, isn’t it?” Leon stared at the bracket. “Wait, does that mean that we’re the only people that switch?”

Leo shrugged. “I guess it was always a possibility. It is a little weird though. There’s so many people here, and none of them switch like us?”

“That’s what I’m saying! Who are we up against, anyway?” Leon squinted at the screen.

“Some group titled Separated Leo? I have no idea what that could mean for our chances. And none of the Leos around here seem to be alone. Maybe we should ask around? Figure out what group we’re up against?” Leo scanned the crowd. “I’m sure we’ll be able to beat them with no struggle― wait why did I just get a foreboding feeling. We’re not going to lose that bad, right?”

I seriously love your fic 'Social Media + Insomnia = Epic Fails'. It's honestly amazing that you managed to write an entire fic through just snapshots of different social media. If I may, can I ask how you did it? I can't imagine that it would be easy, considering that there's barely any conventional dialogue or real action scenes.

Oh my gosh, yay!! Ironically I just reread that one the other night. It was very self-indulgent, but I'm so happy to hear so many other people could enjoy it too! 🥰✨😊

There are definitely some parts that are easier than others. Interestingly enough, I probably have the hardest time with formatting and the overall structure of the fic when I publish than the writing itself. I love playing around with HTML, but Ao3's HTML is notoriously hard. (Also, tip: the Rich Text Editor doesn't always allow the same amount of versatility, hence the HTML.)

For me personally, it was important for me to have plot in the background. It doesn't have to be deep plot, but just some sort of guideline that I could follow so I know where it began and end.

In that fic, I'm sure you noticed, things went down in the background like Danny joining the Justice League and becoming Ghost King and Tim getting overshadowed by Pariah Dark. (Yes, I did try to heavily imply that Tim was overshadowed by Pariah for five days. That's a fun plot point lol.) But the overarching story that people really came for was Tim and Danny being lovesick idiots and trying to navigate being public personalities and getting together.

You are totally right about unconventional dialogue. There is a bit at the end where we get actual dialogue with quotation marks and dialogue tags, but otherwise we just get a lot of chatting sequences. For me it was very important to get the tones right. Little clues in the messages that shows how they're feeling or what they're implying. And for things like sarcasm, which don't translate through writing the same way, you can even have characters call each other out on it. I know I've done the same for "Insomniacs Anonymous". (Can you tell I love social media fics? lol)

One of the things I will say about this kind of fic format is that it's so much easier to write fight scenes. On one hand, you don't get really inspiration scenes where your characters are out there kicking ass and saving the day, but that's also a let less work on your part. In this case the details aren't as important, it's the results. So that's why we just see Breaking News alerts.

For this fic, it's kind of a mixture of present-action and reactions. There are parts where we watch as plot points unfold but we also learn about other plot points via the reactions from other people on social media.

There are also smaller things you can do. Whenever I showed Danny's Twitter profile or YouTube channel, I changed little details to show the passage of time. I showed him steadily gaining new followers or subscribers, or in the case with YouTube, I showed his number of videos slowly ticking up higher. It's very easy to miss, and maybe most people don't notice it at all, but it's also a good bookmark as an author.

If you're looking for inspiration or ideas, then I would definitely recommend looking into other social media AUs. There's a canonized tag for it on Ao3, but the social media fics I read that helped me with "Social Media + Insomnia = Epic Fails! (Not Clickbait)" were from Yuri! On Ice, Batman, and BNHA. If you're interested in more specific fics, let me know and I can make up a list of recs. Even if you're not into the fandom, they offer some good ideas for what it can look like.

All in all, I'm really glad you liked that one! I have a number of more ideas for social media fics going forward like a Model AU, my Actor AU, and then a AITA Reddit fic which I believe I did post a while ago as well. I can't promise it'll be soon, but the format is so fun and I hope you get to have some fun with it too. 😉

hi! so.. i'm gonna try and be as honest as i can with this post. i'm gonna address some questions (that no one has asked but i feel are necessary to talk about) because i kind of just don't want to lie anymore lol

Q: first off, why has this blog been so inactive?:

A: er. a couple reasons. recently, my mental health has been going through a lot of ups and downs, along with the fact i've been trying to focus on things irl like friends, grades, etc. most of the time i just don't.. have time to write or do stuff for this blog. i wish i could, i promise. i'm just dealing with my own issues daily.

the second reason is. well. few people are interested in this anymore. few of us still even have interest in midori. i mean, maybe we do. just not as much as before. its okay, things change over the course of 6-7 ish months. i understand that and i'm not going to try to push it anymore

Q: what do i plan to do with this blog?

A: okay. i'm gonna be as honest as i can with this. i have no fucking clue. i've been thinking about like final bit of lore posts and just simple goodbye posts for a while. i've also been thinking about just completely resetting and completely disregarding the lore and starting over. as tempting as this is, others and i have (probably) poured a lot of time into thinking about and writing our characters' lore and wouldn't be the happiest to just throw it all away. idk. you tell me what you think.

i've also been thinking really hard about just making a new ask blog. or just repurposing this one. not sure yet, i want some other people's opinion first. i just want to start a new ask/rp blog. preferably with a different character. mostly because my y/ttd hpfx has been. non existant. haha..

OKAY LISTEN THIS IS ONE I DESPERATELY WANT TO DO BUT IT'S GOING TO TAKE SO MUCH WORK which is why I've stalled out every time I've started to think about writing it again. And I have so many "what if's" to sort out that could take the story in a million different directions. Because obviously in the movie they are all terrible people and that's why they're all called to the mansion, and then people start dying. But I'm sitting here like:

I could embrace the whole pirate angle and have them all be terrible in that sense, OR it could be Ed and Stede holding a murder-mystery party and then people start for real dying!

Are they dying for genuine Deep Dark Secrets OR is it random OR is it just hijinx?

Who even dies?

Maybe it's NOT Ed and Stede hosting but one of the canonical bad guys? But then why would they all go?

And then you also need to develop a GENUINE MYSTERY that has THREE POSSIBLE ENDINGS (and before you say no, you don't NEED to do three possible endings, there is a BIT, and I ALWAYS commit to the bit!!!!)

Honestly this was born out of me loving the movie and thinking it's the exact kind of chaotic energy that's perfect for the crew but not knowing where to take it, BUT thinking it would be very funny to be able to have a line that's like "it was Ed and Stede... in the library....with the rope...oh this looks like a private moment let's just leave them to their fucking while the rest of us investigate the fuckery."

Just wanted to ask about your talentswap pics for Nagito and Chiaki. Does the Tragedy still happen in it, and if so does either or both of them become part of Ultimate Despair? Also if its only one of them, would Chiaki still die or would it be Nagito in her place. And lastly how are their relationships with their classmates altered in the AU?

Okay admittedly though, I didn’t think too too deeply into this au so some of what you asked is what I’m speculating could potentially happen probably.

The tragedy: Does in fact happen ✅ though not in the same way it went down in the games/anime

I’m not sure who will be the Ultimate Despair seeing as what really spurred Junko into becoming who she is was her ultimate analysis talent that basically made everyday life a general bore to her who can quite literally predict 99% of outcomes accurately. The only real excitement she got was when chaos struck and caused disorder in the usual schematics. She learned to thrive in not only her own perpetual despair of boredom but also in the despair in others—becoming the Ultimate Despair we know today. On top of which it’s because of this talent she was able to pull off the tragedy (and most of her schemes) to begin with so if I swap everyone in this au that would include her too. Not sure what unlucky soul would wind up with the Ultimate Analyst talent, but much like how Nagito’s talent greatly impacts the character’s personality and entire backstory, so too would this one. 

What I do know is that Junko would most likely NOT be the Ultimate Despair in this au. Though, that being said, she won’t be an entirely nice person either. I do believe that Junko has a personality type that leans more towards the mean side regardless. Her obsession with despair just made it extreme. (Although if Ryouko is anything to go by, perhaps she is a relatively nice person. ‘Course it’s hard to judge considering that Ryouko forgets everyone within 24 hours and so her relationship with others makes it hard to establish how Junko would treat them in the long term).

Something to note though is just because someone gets the analyst talent doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to be Ultimate Despair. After all, everyone’s getting swapped and maybe a character winding up with a wildly different talent impacts them enough to take up that title instead. Which is why I say the tragedy will most likely NOT go down the same way Junko orchestrated it. Which brings me to my next point:

Chiaki does not get sacrificed. For a couple of reasons: she’s not the class’ beacon of hope as her lucky talent causes Chiaki to become closed off in order to keep everyone in a far enough distance from her so they don’t get hurt. As such she’s more like the class cryptid at best. She’s still kind and values life, and most of her classmate see her like an aloof stray cat they’d like to befriend someday but runs away whenever you get close, but the bad luck she’s experienced has left her rather pessimistic and anxious. Also, since the Ultimate Despair isn’t Junko and might do things differently, not sure how many (if any) class 77 students are going to be sacrificed in the way Chiaki was.

Regardless, SHSL Gamer Nagito certainly wouldn’t be sacrificed seeing as he uh…doesn’t have the best reputation among his classmates. His woefully pitiful social skills, interest in concerning hobbies (*cough*bomb making/playing with literal fire*cough*), and romanticizing of people’s struggles (because he still loves hope in the form of how greatly it shines at the end of a storyline—and the harder the level=the more struggle one faces, the more satisfying and brighter that ending will be), doesn’t lend itself well to making friends irl. As such he wouldn’t be their beacon of hope. Just the creepy gamer guy.

More specifically he’s a rich kid who hasn’t struggled much in life besides his (unintentional) self-imposed isolation from others to focus exclusively on his games that crippled his social skills. As such, Nagito isn’t as humble nor as self-depreciating as OG Nagito is. You probably won’t like him as much as the original because of it. Yet, he’s still just as manipulative—if not more, to get what he wants, and for all his lack of social skills, he does have a way with words when he’s trying to give a “pep talk” to another player—I mean person—to keep them from quitting (if he finds the effort worth making/their storyline interesting enough). He’s grown a little tired of playing games alone (read: lonely and bored).

On the tangent of gamer Nagito though, he really would lend himself well to being a mastermind and perhaps, maybe to some capacity he is one. Or maybe even THE one. One of the ones anyway. Wouldn’t it be fun to see the world plunge into what resembles an apocalyptic survival game and seeing everyone deal with the most unimaginable struggle to date and watching their storylines play out? See who persevered? See whose hope was too weak and died like the disappointing npcs they are? But wouldn’t it be even more fun to be among them, to be player and participant?

Which is why, I feel like Nagito played a great part in the tragedy in that he helped make it happen. Though, I don’t believe he was the only mastermind. This was a team effort. Nagito ISN’T the Ultimate Despair after all. Just their co-mastermind. Because he would really like an immersive survival game experience where stakes are high and there’s much to lose. I really wouldn’t put it above him to request to be turned into a remnant too. After all, he has more fun playing the game than making it—it wouldn’t be fair if he started off with an advantage while everyone else already had the disadvantage of their morals being corrupted right? Course Nagito already had loose morals as is so how effective his remnant transformation is can be questioned. How much is he affected and how much is he playing the part for the sake of the game? Who knows~ A good player doesn’t reveal his skill set right off the bat y’know.

Chiaki, meanwhile, will potentially become a remnant as well. I say potentially because I feel she’d be a sort of in-between the way Original Nagito was. Not fully despair fueled as her other classmates, but also not entirely trustworthy either. This is due to her constant living with despair due to her luck with a combination of her innate kindness that fend off some of the effects of remnant-fication. As a remnant, she goes back and forth between wanting to cause despair and wanting to help her classmates (and the world) get better. In a way it sort of makes her one of the more unstable remnants, in that you don’t know when she’s here to genuinely help and when she might do something in a wave of despair. It’s like a coin toss and you gotta hope you’re lucky and get her in one of her helpful moods.

This has gotten long enough but dang this au really does bring me lots of joy to explore. If I had more time on my hands I would get into other characters and what their swaps are and how that’s changed their backstory but for now take this instead.

Sadly, no. 😭 In the reality of this fictional universe, a tragedy very much did happen and Dino and MC are very much suffering from it 🥲 (I will not stop you from imagining that it was all a dream tho, we all have different ways of coping dklsjfsklj <3)

~ What's the main purpose of the game? Why are they doing this? (this one asked by @diamondyjh)

OKAY SO to start off you need to know that this au was heavily inspired by an episode of a podcast called "The Magnus Archives", specifically the episode “Binary” (transcript here). [If you're a fan of horror, I highly recommend giving the episode a listen/read, it's delightfully creepy — you don't need to have listened to any of the other episodes to understand it (just stop at the ending 'supplemental' part)]

The episode goes into detail about this sort of digital urban legend/creepypasta/copypasta about a guy named Sergey Ushanka who, long story short, tried to upload his brain/consciousness into a computer because he was afraid of death and wanted to try living forever virtually. There are tame versions of how he did it and other much more brutal ones, but basically "Sergey Ushanka" is a prank that various coders/programmers like to pull when making chatboxes in which you could talk with "strangers". It would start out normal and then steadily devolve into something creepy. This paragraph taken directly from the episode transcript sums it up very nicely:

"But then the responses start to break down, become more sinister, and keep referring to how much pain Sergey is in. Eventually, the only response the bot gives you is screaming and pleas to be released. The idea is that the chatbot is Sergey Ushanka’s mind, and he doesn’t like being in a computer nearly as much as he’d hoped."

So the idea that I stole from the episode essentially was: but what if it was real? What would the reality of being turned into cold, unfeeling data feel like? Agony is what the episode posits. Here is a list of phrases that the Sergey in the episode uses:

cw: vague body horror, blood mention "the angles cut me when I try to think" / "it peels my mind like knives" / "it feels like thinking through cheese wire" / "there's no feeling, but the no feeling hurts" / "it's cold without blood" / "the maze is sharp on my mind"

My next thought process was: What happens after? If someone were able to survive this process and were somehow able to keep any kind of agency, how would that person try to get out of the digital hellscape that has now become their existence? After knowing what it feels like to become distinctly inhuman, wouldn't they do anything to feel human again?

And how do we feel human? How do we find connection with each other and our humanity without ever having to come in contact with another person?

Stories. Fiction and non-fiction alike, we are all connected through storytelling, by finding feeling through other people's words. The thing about stories, though, is that they aren't messy in the same way that actually feeling our feelings is. That being human is.

So what does all of this have to do with the purpose of the game?

Essentially, when it's all boiled down, in this universe the story of Sergey Ushanka is real, and in this universe he is trying to gain his humanity back by stealing that of others. He started off with stories, with whatever online libraries and resources and archives he could find across the internet. And while it wasn't even close to enough to satisfy him, to get rid of any of the pain he was constantly experiencing, it was enough for him to learn, to grow, to realize that if he wanted his humanity back, he needed to go to the source.

So he started stealing real people from the real world, with all of their messy feelings and emotions and humanness.

That is the purpose of the game, why "they" are doing this. (pls don't ask the how bc i don't have an answer for that, just -waves hands- you know, insert your supernatural/sci-fi explanation of choice sldkflksj)

Essentially, the other characters/bots/whatever you want to call them are a kind of amalgamation of all the previous players who got sucked into the game. Once someone's been... let's call it absorbed, whatever parts of themselves are left after the process basically get shoved into whatever "character" they fit best, sometimes different pieces going to different characters.

And while the pictures could just be random ones, I like the idea that they're taken from the most recent players that got absorbed :')

Well, the main reason he was "evil" was because he's, y'know, a part of the game and the game is trying to steal people's souls or whatever. As for why he's mean, that's because he's trying to trigger an emotional reaction. The more messy, human feelings that are happening at the time of absorption, the better :').

BUT to answer your question, in the story, Dino says that Yeonjun gave it to him and that he got it from "a friend of a friend of a roommate". Because the absorption and the consequent complete erasure is such a big process, not everyone who plays gets sucked in. In fact, most people who play don't get sucked in. Which is why Yeonjun is totally fine! (And why the friend of the friend of the roommate, aka this universe's irl Changkyun, is not 🥲)

This one's a little bit complicated. It's kind of a yes and no situation? Generally speaking, the game isn't looking to ensnare every single person who plays because 1) it takes A Lot Of Effort to take/erase a single person, and 2) the game needs to spread to other people somehow, thus it needs people to play it and then tell other people to play it too.

For MC specifically, though, it's hard to say. How they played the game didn't matter so much as how they reacted to the game, specifically the first phase(s) of the Mnemosyne Protocol. The whole point of the game is to get big, messy, emotional responses, so if MC hadn't had such a big reaction, the game probably would have turned out differently. That being said, if MC had played the game as blandly as possible, the game might not have ever decided to test out the Mnemosyne Protocol, so. *shrugs* Do with that what you will lol.

Sadly, nothing special happens if you finish the game 😭 Plenty of people finish the game and pretty much go "huh, that was cool I guess" and then move on with their lives after telling their friends about it. This can be said about all four games mentioned actually, since we only see one of them get played.

As for a sequel... almost certainly not 🥲 I'm not going to give a hard no/no forever, because who knows if I'll end up getting another idea/get suddenly struck with inspiration, but... it is Extremely unlikely. Another story in the same universe??? ...still not likely, but slightly more likely than a sequel lol.

But no, that's not the case lmao. And while I am a huge sucker for the Power of Love being an unstoppable force (ESPECIALLY when it's non-romantic love!!!), the reason Dino and only Dino remembers is thanks to sheer luck and a glitch.

So, in episode 28, MC drops their phone when meeting their brother and in episode 29 we see the alert ".|| MNEMOSYNE PROTOCOL COMPLETE ||." show up on a cracked screen.

The final phase of the Mnemosyne Protocol is the erasure portion, and the reason players get erased instead of just like, disappearing is because their "essence" is basically being transferred from reality into this digital realm of Sergey's existence. And reality, because it's now lacking an entire person and their history, just kinda... rewrites itself to make sense with the missing gap. Think of it as the universe doing like a sort of reverse autocorrect.

But because MC's phone got broken in the middle of that transfer, there was a slight glitch in the process. A glitch wherein Dino, because he was on the opposite side of the globe when this was happening, got accidentally missed in the autocorrection process. If he had been in Korea (or heck, anywhere within a few thousand miles) when this happened, he would have forgotten MC as well.

So long story short, Dino was just extremely (un?)lucky 🥲

Well, sad news here friends. Most of what's left of MC is now stuck inside the game. They got absorbed and are now a part of Sergey's dataset and will be used/distributed into "characters" as needed.

Notice that I said most. Because, thanks to the glitch, the part of them that was connected to Dino didn't get transferred properly, and now that part of them is kinda stuck — it no longer exists in the real world, but it also didn't get fully absorbed into the game.

Which leads me to the next question:

~ Did reader turn evil and try to pull Dino into the game or is it the game itself being evil and impersonating reader to lure Dino in? (asked by @diamondyjh)

When I wrote the original version of this, the answer was a kind of combination of both — MC had gotten absorbed and corrupted by the game, so while it was the MC reaching out, they were doing so because it was what the game wanted.

But in this version... It's actually neither! Which I think would normally be a good thing but I think in this instance actually just makes this sadder oops.

So, the epilogue isn't the game impersonating MC and it isn't an "evil" MC trying to lure Dino in, it's actually just the part of MC that got stuck during the glitchy transfer. This is why the messages show as being from "Unknown" instead of the phone number associated with the game. And the reason what's left of MC asks Dino if he wants to play a game is because that's the only way it knows how to connect with anything anymore.

Basically, this sliver of MC that's left is experiencing what the original Sergey went through when he first "uploaded" himself, but instead of reaching out to anyone through a chatbot for help, it's reaching out to the only thing it "remembers" about humanity — Dino.

...I honestly didn't mean to make this story any sadder than it already is and I'm glad that the epilogue by itself just reads as spooky/freaky as hell instead of, well, this. 🥲

It pains me to say that there is no longer an MC for Dino to reunite with 😭 The part of them that got absorbed by the game is, well, a part of the game now. And the piece of them that's left and trying to reach out to him? Well, like I said, it's just a piece.

There could potentially be a chance for him to find some closure here, but that's about it I'm afraid :')

Jiang Cheng who becomes Wen Ruohan's husband after the man took an interest in him. But how could he not notice the pretty bartender at one of his bars?

He did enjoy flirting with him quite a lot, especially when the young man had no clue who he was. It was pretty cute, seeing the young man flirting with him, yet rolling his eyes when anyone else was trying to hit on him.

The younger man was genuinely interesting to be around, had many stories from different jobs and customers. his sarcasm and annoyed retelling were pretty cute. Wen Ruohan couldn't help himself but to fall for Jiang Cheng's charms.

At first, he wanted to keep it just that. Flirting. He had heard about Jiang Cheng's stories (not without a couple of drinks after-hours). The young man had lived most of his life in a stressful environment, always pushed to be the best and never had any free time for himself without it being shunned as "wasting time to be better than /him/". Wen Ruohan would even argue the man had been neglected all his life too, from the way he was retelling some stories.

He knew his life still was a mess and didn't want to bring him into that. after all, Jiang Cheng simply wanted a tranquil and happy life after running away from his hometown.

But Jiang Cheng didn't have that in mind.

One night, as Jiang Cheng was closing and Wen Ruohan stayed behind at the bar too when it was empty, he made his move after a quick drink of bravery juice.

Wen Ruohan was surprised by his tie being suddenly pulled on, forcing him closer to Jiang Cheng.

"I think we've been at it for a while now, why don't I bring you out for diner?" Jiang Cheng suggested, making the first move to simply break the flirting they had going on. "A big scary and dangerous man won't scare me, I grew up around big scary dangerous people" he grinned.

Wen Ruohan was a bit stunned by this sudden suggestion but would lie if he said he didn't like how feisty the young man was. He had not expected that.

"Are you sure you know what kind of big scary and dangerous man you are trying to capture now?" he asked amused.

"I am confident that I can recognise one easily" Jiang Cheng smiled, "I can take it".

And he was right, he took it all. Although, it was funny seeing Jiang Cheng react to learning exactly /who/ Wen Ruohan was. He had most likely not expected to hit so high.

But from there everything went well, Wen Ruohan made sure to cherish and love this young man who was more than happy to live (although he had difficulty letting someone love him at first).

The relationship evolved pretty well, Jiang Cheng even moved in with him (he didn't even try to pretend it was for his safety, he just wanted him there with him). Even his son seemed to quite appreciate his lovers (despite being around their age).

Yet, there was always a little something that would poke at Wen Ruohan. How come Jiang Cheng seems to know a lot about the world he lived in despite being a common civilian. He felt like the answer was somewhere close in his mind, something about the young man bringing memories.

"I will give you a hint" Jiang Cheng winked as he lay next to him in bed, sounding amused at his sudden question.

"Jiang Fengmian" Jiang Cheng said.

Then it suddenly all clicked in place. This is why he looked vaguely familiar.

He could barely believe the Jiang Cheng family was a rival group. He would probably have been mad if it had been someone else, feeling as if they would have hidden it from him. Yet something about his partner's smile told him it wasn't meant to be in a bad way.

"Honestly I thought you had figured it out earlier" he admitted, "But it's not that relevant, I don't have any ties with my family anymore, other than some contact with my sister here and there" he explained.

Wen Ruohan didn't like that sad look in his eyes, pulling him in close against him, kissing his forehead. He had easily deduced the young man had a bad falling out with his family. Rumours about an heir coming from nowhere also helped to guess things.

"You can simply be Jiang Cheng with me, no need to worry about the past" he smiled at him. Sure it would be hard to really have a normal life if he were to keep staying with him, but he promised himself to make it better for Jiang Cheng than it was before.

"Thank you" Jiang Cheng smiled softly, snuggling against him for comfort.

With that out of the way, things kept going well, until they made their relationship even more official. Jiang Cheng even gained some power over Wen Ruohan's man (to jc's surprise).

although really it was rare Jiang Cheng did anything related to his work (he tried keeping him out most of the time). And would at most work with Wen Zhuliu or Wen Ning, both usually at his side for his protection under Wen Ruohan's demand when things got more dangerous.

Wen Zhuliu becomes one of the only men of Wen Ruohan whom Jiang Cheng knows a lot, warming up to the man he first thought was pretty cold and silent.

What Wen Ruohan notices though is that the man is also warming up to his little husband, something he hasn't seen often.

he'd go as far as to say the man has taken a liking to work with Jiang Cheng (It also probably helps that Jiang Cheng is easy to deal with) and even just hanging around with him. Where he would usually just look over someone when asked to, with Jiang Cheng he would actually talk with him, and participate in whatever Jiang Cheng could suggest they be doing. Wc had to force him to do things most of the time, yet here he was just enjoying an evening learning how to cook with Jiang Cheng.

"Of course, I wouldn't dare steal the boss' husband" Wen Zhuliu replied politely when Wen Ruohan told him about what he noticed.

"I know you won't" Wen Ruohan assured him, "But it doesn't fully answer my question, do you love A-Cheng?".

Jiang Cheng was sitting with Wen Ruohan, a bit unsure of what was going on. Was he suspecting Wen Zhuliu had done something bad? He was truly a nice man and had never done anything to him. He really liked the man and didn't want him to be punished for nothing.

But Wen Zhuliu couldn't bring himself to lie. "I do... abore affection towards Jiang Cheng" he finally admitted, still kneeling on the ground. He already knew it was bad to slightly fall for his boss's husband, he would understand if Wen Ruohan wanted to punish him for it.

But Wen Ruohan truly wasn't thinking of doing this. Wen Zhuliu was his trusted right-hand man, someone he knew that even if he were infatuated with Jiang Cheng would never do anything about it other than making sure the young man was safe.

Plus he had the feeling that really punishing him would probably upset Jiang Cheng, he clearly enjoyed his time spent with the man when his husband wasn't home.

"I see, I can also understand where this comes from," he said with a smirk, Jiang Cheng blushing on the side.

"I also trust Wen Zhuliu won't try to steal my husband" he, he then looked at his husband, Jiang Cheng arching a brow with a little smile. "How does A-Cheng like Wen Zhuliu?". Clearly, Jiang Cheng was not expecting the question, still chuckling a little bit, "I think he is a handsome man, really nice once you get to know him, but I am sure my dear husband already knew that" he replied honestly. What's the point of hiding it? He had already said in the past that he found him handsome.

The conversation ended soon after, seemingly going nowhere only that he knew now that Wen Zhuliu had potentially feeling that weren't fully platonic for his husband.

It's only a little while later that think changed a bit.

Wen Ruohan had obviously talked about it to Jiang Cheng first, who seemed on board with letting Wen Zhuliu have... a little reward.

The man had entered the room, unknowing of what was really waiting for him. He had clearly not expected Jiang Cheng only wearing a sheer night robe and some lacy panties.

Jiang Cheng was pretty happy he actually managed to surprise the man, it was rare for him to be taken aback.

Wen Ruohan approached him, patting his shoulder before gently guiding him towards the bed.

"You've been doing such great work since you started working for me, I thought a reward was needed" Wrh explained, seeing how wzl gaze was following jc who crawled to the side of the bed and joined them.

"Of course, only if A-Liu would like to have this reward" Jiang Cheng commented, pulling the man closer with his tie, a grin on his lips.

And this is how wzl ended up also entering the couple's life more intimately. He would never be allowed himself to do anything were Jiang Cheng or Wen Ruohan not suggesting it, but he was more than happy to take what he was given.

It sure was... interesting sometimes.

getting little rewards from Jiang Cheng when the man thought he did a good job, being invited by Wen Ruohan every now and then.

Sometimes it would be the three of them in the bed, sometimes he would be between them, sometimes Wen Ruohan would simply sit on the side and watch.

At times he would watch as he gave instructions and orders to Wen Zhuliu, guiding the man into whatever kinky scene they had.

Those kinds of nights could be interesting, seeing Jiang Cheng restrained, begging for more only for Wen Ruohan to tease him by not giving the order for what he wanted, only for the young man to try and coax Wen Zhuliu into giving him what he wanted. he would sometime give in and give to Jiang Cheng what he wanted (the punishment were usually not that bad).

It became pretty clear to others that Wen Zhuliu was a favourite of the couple, something no one else could have (yet no one guessed to which extent it went).

He would even help in teasing Wen Ruohan when the man gets too injured, "As a punishment for his carelessness" Jiang Cheng said. There was indeed something interesting in seeing Wen Ruohan restrained the best he could be depending on the injuries, on the bed in front of them as Jiang Cheng allowed Wen Zhuliu to do anything he wanted, riling his husband up, teasing him without ever fully giving him what he wanted.

When he became one of Wen Ruohan man's, Wen Zhuliu would have never expected to end up where he is today, but he would lie if he said it wasn't making him happy.

Okay so because it's still rotting my brain I'm going to just do a little introduction-type info dump about the infiniteship fallout au and if yall are interested maybe I'll try and figure out something to do with it, lol.

Jougo is 18 in this au. Before the war he lived and grew up in Sanctuary Hills with his dad (a us war veteran) which is how he got into Vault 111. The opening is mostly the same. Bombs fall, run to the vault, get in the tube, surprise! It's a cryo facility. Sleep for 200 years or so and at some point Jougo gets woken up and sees some people show up and take his dad away before putting him back to sleep again. Wake up again an indeterminate amount of time later, head out into wasteland to find dad, maybe deal with some trauma about the whole world you knew being gone and stuff.

Yubel is here! They're a ghoul. They were childhood friends with Jougo before the bombs fell and have kind of just been hanging around Sanctuary doing their own thing for over 200 years. They're the first person Jougo runs into after escaping the vault and helps him out trying to find his dad. (no Codsworth here, sorry.)

Somewhere along the way they run into Mamoru. Mamo has amnesia and can't remember anything about who he is, where he is, or anything that's going on, all he could remember was the name "Mamoru" which he just assumes is his own name. He just woke up somewhere in the wasteland one day all alone with a laser pistol sitting nearby. Most everyone he meets in the wasteland don't trust him or want to help him until he meets Jougo. He joins Jougo and they try to find some clues about his memory while also trying to find clues about who took Jougo's dad.

Soooo yeah. I guess that's the main characters and some basic overview. Some of the fo4 characters would show up here and there but it would be mostly these guys and honestly while Yubel does get some focus and story, but it's mostly about the boys and their relationship. The story would be mostly the same as fo4 up until somewhere around Fort Hagen.

Yes, I know I said I would be putting all my stuff under a different tag, but I do want to at least give everyone a sample of my work where it's actually visable. So I do apologize. These are just exerpts from the two ideas I have floating around in my head involving the same characters and same situation, just under different circumstances. And if any of this interests you, I do have a poll going on right now because I'm honestly torn on which to work on first. So please do vote if you feel so inclined.

So this is the exerpt from my original idea.

               As Perry was setting the kettle on the warmer, she noticed footsteps approaching the little alcove. Turning her head just enough to see who it was, she struggled to hold in her groan. Of course. Of course it would be him. Who else would it be, she sarcastically thought.

               As Kaos opened his mouth to say something, Perry cut him off. “Look, before you start your shit, let me have my tea in peace,” she said. “It will make everything go a whole lot smoother.” He glared at her, probably more so for not letting him speak than what she actually said, before a slow grin took it’s place. “Very well,” he agreed, before taking a seat at the small table. Perry stared at him incredulously. Surely he wasn’t serious. Yet, everything she already knew about him told her yes, he was serious. He was not going to leave her alone. “Jesus Christ you make me miss coffee so damn much,” she groaned.

               Another smug grin made it’s way on his face. “Oh really?” he asked, more condescending than anything else. “And what, exactly, is coffee?” Perry glared at him. She knew he didn’t actually care about what coffee was, it was more of a way to keep bothering her. Ignoring him was not going to work. He would just keep badgering her about it until it turned into a screaming match. Sighing, she turned to look at him. “It’s an Earth drink,” she told him. “Kind of like tea, but made from ground up, roasted beans instead of various plant leaves.” Kaos pulled a face. “That sounds revolting,” he said. “Yeah, well, not many people drink it for the taste,” she grumbled.

               “Then why did you drink it?” he demanded. Perry shrugged, turning to her kettle. It wasn’t whistling, but she figured the water was hot enough. “I mean, you could add things to it so it wouldn’t taste as bad,” she said, as she poured the water over a satchel of tea in her cup. “Plus, it had twice the amount of caffeine that most teas have.” Perry then grabbed two cubes of sugar, placing them in her cup, before turning back to Kaos. She quirked her brow at his incredulous expression. “What?”

               “And you drank this often?” he asked.

 “Yep,” she answered, popping the ‘p’. “Just about every day.”  

“How are you not dead?!” he exclaimed.

               “Pure feakin’ spite,” she deadpanned, taking a sip of her tea, before pulling a face. Definitely needed more sugar.

This would occur somewhere during the early part of book two, where they're still not getting along.

And now onto the Nefarion AU (I need a better name)

The early morning hours were honestly Perry’s favorite time of day. The only time she ever truly got to herself anymore, really. She knew Hex and Stealth only had her best interests at heart, and she really didn’t have a clue of what she was doing. However, the constant nitpicking did get to her. Perry let out a quiet sigh into her cup of tea, the existence of which was a compromise between her and Hex; the mornings she found herself unable to get anymore sleep, she was allowed to make her own tea. She still remembered the time Hex had completely lost it when she had seen that Perry had cooked her own breakfast. She still found it a little ridiculous that a lady was expected to never make her own food, but she supposed it wasn’t that much different from Earth’s Victorian period.

               “What are you doing up?” the voice that suddenly sounded out caused Perry to startle, almost to the point that she dropped her cup. “Jesus!” she exclaimed. “Give a little warning next time, would you?” Setting down the cup, she turned to look at the newcomer. Of course, it was Kaos. He wasn’t aware of her early morning proclivities yet. “Besides, I could ask you the same thing,”

               “My family believed in an early start to the day,” Kaos stated. “Now what’s your excuse? I can see that this household doesn’t have the same philosophy.” Perry took a deep breath to stop herself from rolling her eyes or any other activity Hex would consider ‘un-ladylike’. “There are mornings where I wake up early and find I cannot go back to sleep,” she said. “Remnants of my time on Earth.” 

               “Oh? And where did the tea come from?” Another deep breath. “I have made it myself,” Perry replied. This was not going to go well, she could tell. “Of course you did,” he sneered. “I knew Eon was soft on his servants, how did I know he’d infect you with the same pathetic weakness?” Yep. Definitely not going well. Perry could already feel her blood pressure rising. “You do realize that I came from a place where people were expected to be able to take care of themselves, right?” she retorted. “Being unable to do something as simple as brewing your own tea would be seen as pathetic.” Kaos merely rolled his eyes. “And yet, you are not on your ‘Earth’ anymore,” he said. “Do remember to start acting like it,”

               If it had been any other situation, Perry probably would have left by now; but she refused to be chased around in her own home. She was now thankful for all the times Stealth had chastised her for her quick temper. Thus, in lieu of a response, Perry instead poured herself another cup of tea. This caused Kaos to quirk a brow at her. “What?” she challenged.

“A second cup?”

She scoffed. “This is nothing,” she said. “You should have seen me with coffee.”

“And what is coffee?” he asked. “It’s an Earth drink that’s similar to tea,” she told him. “Only instead of different plant leaves, it’s made from ground up, roasted beans.” He made another face. “Beans,” Kaos deadpanned. “Really?”  Perry was unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes this time. “It wasn’t just any kind of beans,” she explained. “It was a specific type of bean. The coffee bean, as self explanatory as that is.” He gave her an unreadable look, before simply turning from her. Well great. Now she’s gone and pissed him off. “Uh… would you like a cup a tea?” Perry pathetically offered. And now it’s awkward. She probably should have offered earlier. “No,” he ground out. “If you need me, I will be in the library.” Another breath to level herself. “Of course,” she replied evenly, turning back to the window. “I will see you at lunch time.”

She didn’t hear a response.

So I should explain that yes, either way Perry gets eeby deebied into Skylands. The howabout is much different, but that's spoiler territory.

Now, this does turn into an Arranged Marriage AU as well, but mostly due to the fact of Eon adopting Perry as his heir, and certain people objecting to that. Kaos is offered up by his parents, not because they're being nice, but because... well... look at him. Anyone in their right mind would object to that. They want this to fail so that Eon's lordship disappears once he passes. And Perry doesn't have many options becase I mean... imagine if you put a modern day woman into Victorian times. There would definitly be some... avoidances there. Uh... the term 'feral' comes to mind, and I doubt many would be willing to put up with that. Kaos would, if only just to spite his parents. so that's the glue holding this plot together lmao

back in the VERY early days of this whole au(like. buddys-name-was-still-ryou early) i wanted to base every clones personality/character on a diffrent lion.... but over time it slowly stopped fitting their personalities and i kinda abandoned the concept lol. though you can still see some remnants of that in . certain design choices...

going back to this concept after uhhh two years?? i think? was definetely interesting! all the characters changed WILDLY since then and i tried to re-assign the lions to fit the changes........ it was surprisingly hard

i couldnt for the life of me decide in a few cases, so instead im just gonna give the most suitable options lol

tashi & soup - im putting these two together beacuse- and i have NO IDEA how that would work- theyre copiloting the black lion! they function the best as a duo and separating them would NOT be a good idea in a situation as stressful and complicated as piloting voltron. they barely manage to keep everyone alive on a good day... also picking only one of the two as The Leader just feels wrong

buddy, ideally, would like to stay as FAR AWAY from voltron as psyhically possible, thank you very much- but nothing in this cruel world is ideal, so they get the red lion:) i actually have this whole story idea where basically stickbug ""goes rouge""(like. some sort of 'sleeper agent mode' left over by haggar gets activated by accident??) and runs away to do some evil shit so buddy goes after him(on a whim)(alone)(without telling the others) and while searching for him they bump into fUCKING VOLTRON- so they form a very uneasy truce until they find stick. and at some point buddy finds out he can pilot the red lion! its awful he hates it:/ he pilots anyway cause his loved one is in danger(this whole thing is way too complicated to talk about here lol)

i had A LOT of problems figuring out the last three..... they changed so much that i just cant rlly fit them into these categories anymore... but i tried!!

ORIGINALLY stickbug was supposed to be based on the green lion but he doesnt fit it as well anymore....... i think taks does pretty well tho! shes very bold and iquisitive and a pain in everyones ass<3 plus loves learning about diffrent planets' unique ecosystems n stuff. stick IS very curious and likes exploring so he still kinda fits? but hes not as forward as taks, so yeahhhh im very torn on this one

yellow could either be taka or stickbug- taka is the youngest and the brightest, hes what brought all of them together in the first place(it takes a village to raise a child)....... buuuut hes not really a 'puts the needs of others above his own' kind of person? hes still a kid and NOT ready for that kind of responsibility. soup is an OBVIOUS choice here of course, but im not sure- honestly, the more i think about it, the more stickbug starts to feel like the best option here? ok hear me out: stickbug, for most of his life, had very little power over his life. even while with the funky guys(ESPECIALLY in the beggining, these bozos were dysfuctional as fuck) there were moments when the others would talk over him bc 'hes a kid', and even without that theres still his people pleasing problem wnich meant he often disregarded his own good to make other ppl content. so, taking this scrawny guy desperate for control over his life and putting him in the toughest, stongest, most resilient lion- basically i think he deserves to go a little apeshit. as a treat. let him wreck shit for once

honestly it kinda funny im stting here and calculating all of this like a mad man where IN THE ACTUAL SHOW the paladins switch the lions like pokemon cards

realistically speaking i think they would all trade and switch em a lot and then squabble over who gets to pilot yellow bc they ALL want to wreck shit sometimes:)

Honestly, I am very invested in the protag Teruya AU

Oh, I'm happy to hear that! Even though I'm mostly just sharing the concepts of it, I'm glad this AU is getting attention.

Honestly, I think it'd be interesting how different the events of SDRA2 would've been if Teruya had been the protagonist instead and the kind of domino effect it would have on everything else. Especially since he's explicitly known as a survivor from DRA for those who know the story. Knowing the poor guy gets put into another killing game AND doesn't have his memories on top of that? The poor guy can't catch a break and the SDRA2 canon was not kind to him either. It's a lot different with Sora, I feel, since we wouldn't know who she supposedly is at the start of the story.

To name a few things that would change off the top of my head:

Teruya being an amnesiac means that something had to have happen to him in order to have amnesia. And considering the state of Akane's body in canon that was revealed in Chapter 6, it does not spell good things for Teruya. I'm thinking his body ends up the way it did when a mission went awry, probably from a bomb trap they noticed too little, too late. And to add an extra bit of angst to this, imagine him ending up this way because he tried to protect Rei from it. I'm thinking Kinjo also plays a roll in this, but I don't know what would work better in this scenario: him purposely spreading misinformation to try and manipulate his friends into what he considers the best case scenario, even at the cost of Teruya's well-being or a genuine mistake and a consequence he hadn't anticipate for. Either way, I need to think about the scenario of the mission a bit more. And either way, Kinjo is totally not having trauma flashbacks to Kouhei Sasaki. Totally. (Sarcasm)

Teruya survives, of course, but he's completely stuck in a coma. And with him out of the picture, the Kisaragi Foundation...isn't doing too hot. He's kind of been the glue that kept Rei and Kinjo from fighting each other constantly, and even helped them see each other's point of view as they worked together for a few years. And unfortunately, without him, their little friend group falls apart and the Foundation barely goes a day without those two arguing constantly. Before they knew it, the Kisaragi Foundation ends up splitting, with Kinjo being supported by the Hawks for his strict orders, to use "evil" against evil and willingness to sacrifice for the greater good, and Rei being supported by the Doves for her intelligence, her willingness to try and look for a better option and to protect as many people as possible, even if it means rebelling against the Director's orders itself. And then there's the Neutralists that are either just trying to make sure the Kisaragi Foundation remains intact or trying to keep their heads down and not participate in this at all. Overall, it's just one big mess without Teruya.

Protag!Teruya going through character development as he tries to lead everyone through the Utsuroshima Killing Game. I plan to make him pretty active in trying to prevent people from killing each other, coming up with ideas that may keep things from escalating. Of course, since this is a Danganronpa story, it's never that easy. And with Void around...yeah, good luck, buddy. At least you get to do something in this story since you have to as the protagonist, haha. (No shade to canon!Teruya, I love him. But I can't recall any significant things he did to try and help the group aside from going crazy in Chapter 4 and sacrificing himself for everyone else in Chapter 5&6.)

Of course, Teruya's intelligence from the past game hasn't exactly improve. Like his SDRA2 counterpart, he's still a great merchant but isn't smart outside of his talent. He's not exactly the most useful during trials, which he's ashamed of. But unlike his SDRA2 counterpart, Mikado, as his support, helps him learn how to investigate and make deductions from the clues of the crime scene. And as the story goes along, he's able to figure out the culprit with a bit of help from his friends. He becomes much more independent and competent by the end of the story, which must be quite the shock for Kinjo and Rei who are...not used to that. Teruya will still be Teruya, of course, but with his amnesia and his experience in the Utsuroshima Killing Game, I'd imagine he'd end up quite different to his original self in certain ways.

And then there's the Divine Luck as a plot point...God, I am...SO tempted to talk about that. Especially about Chapter 6 and the Epilogue. But this post has gotten long enough, honestly, so I'm gonna stop here.

This is all I can think of that's related to Protag!Teruya atm. There might be more that I'm missing or things that could end up developing as I write the story. I'm still in the second half of the Prologue as I ended up making this AU while writing another ongoing fanfic so some things may change as I progress. And I haven't done much writing for the AU aside from drawing so that it might be a while before I finish the Prologue. But thank you for the ask!
