If Glee understands it, then we know we have a problem, because for all that I adore (yes, I said it) some characters, the show is deeply flawed. It was great because it actually got rep, but then it didn't do what IT COULD HAVE AND SHOULD HAVE DONE.

Yes, that was my point by using Glee as a reference point. But that’s really not a discussion I wish to have right now. Let’s just agree that it started out somewhere between okay and good (but deeply flawed) and quickly nosedived into “Why.” territory.

(I still watched the whole thing, but I cheered very hard when it was finally over. Wouldn’t you know, my fascination for horrible media extends beyond the books I review on this blog.)

I'm just really confused because I think I may be developing a crush on a person, but I'm not sure whether it was after an emotional connection??? And I'm not sure if it counts as romantic attraction. Sorry, I just can't understand how to (1/2)

...how to know if I am feeling romantic attraction. I have read a bunch of asks from here and looked elsewhere but I wouldn't know for myself. Is it literally just being able to imagine myself dating someone specific, or is it something, idk, deeper?

Take a deep breath. It’s okay. You might be developing a crush. You might not. I’d venture to say though if you think it’s a crush it probably is. Sometimes picking out whether it is or not can be difficult and confusing. That’s okay.

It can be imagining dating someone specific, but it’s not like just and “I wonder” sort of feeling. Like the kind you might get when a topic is brought up and you start thinking about it. It’s more of a draw to imagine that person. You might do it without thinking. It might be triggered by seeing them. It kind of all depends.

Don’t worry about whether or not it was after an emotional connection. It may or may not have been. It’s okay. If you can’t tell right now, wait it out. Think on it some more, but try not to dwell on it.

You mention your 'to-snark' list, so I'm wondering exactly how long is it? And generally how far in advance do you plan which books you're gonna snark? It does sound like a lot of effort, but I'd say it is very enjoyable to read so, yeah... !!!

Well, obviously, I get more organized the longer I run the blog. Practice makes perfect (or…better, at least). So the answer changes constantly (remember I started posting City of Bones chapters once every few days when I had time, and now I have an entire month of posts queued up).

My personal method is to keep up a shelf on Goodreads for books I consider potential snark material (which you can see here), and then from those I plan for what I’ll review next in a calendar on my computer. GR lets me order the shelves, but out of the 54 books that are there now, only the first dozen or so are even on the calendar at all. And even then, that calendar is constantly up for change.

So if you look at it now, you’ll find…

The Scorch Trial (definitely my July snark)

City of Heavenly Fire (definitely my August snark)

Fallen (recently added; not sure when I’ll snark it, depending on when the movie releases)

The Bane Chronicles (planned to snark after COHF, probably postponed because of Fallen) and The Shadowhunter’s Codex (no idea what I’ll do with that one, but I’ll definitely have a look at it)

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and The Raven Boys (both were candidates for September; probably postponed because of Fallen)

The Copper Gauntlet (probably my October snark)

The Rose Society (potential November snark; I’d have to see if it’s snark-worthy first and since the first Magnus Chase comes out at the same time, I don’t know if I’d have time to read this one in time)

A few Shadowhunter Academy stories (planned for December snark; I added those specifically because I had something to say about the blurbs)

After that, it’s a bunch of series continuations (mostly Clare books and The Death Cure), which I’ll probably snark, just not in the foreseeable future.

And after those, the list is completely unordered. It’s just books I marked as potential snarks while browsing Goodreads, so I can easily find them back if I need a book.

So, to answer your question…my firm plans reach for the next couple of months, my vaguer plans for the rest of the year, and if you count all the unreleased books, then I think it reaches all the way into 2019. You know, if I’m still there by then. (Though I hope I will be)

Is it work? A little. But things would be even more complicated if I had to actually decide on my next book at the last minute and snark it on a day-by-day basis.

I've made friends with people who are very open of their homo/bisexuality and they speak of sex and the like very freely, so I can't help but feel inadequate because I reluctantly identify as asexual, although I keep wishing I wasn't. Is this normal?

It's very common, that's for sure. It's okay. I like to think about it like they're talking about some eccentric hobby, like bungee jumping or cave diving or mountain climbing. It's something they enjoy and are enthusiastic about, and something I have zero interest in and do not understand why they enjoy. I focus more on their feelings than the topic at hand.
