cw panic attack
a/n: wrote this like 20 mins after finishing s2 i'm sorry if he's ooc
arisu gasps as he jolts awake, waking you in the process. his breathing is heavy and his eyes water as he buries his face into his hands. you can barely make out his silhouette in the darkness, the room only illuminated by moonlight shining through an open window.
"arisu?" gently, you shift to place a hand on his shoulder. he flinches a little but doesn't move away from you, instead frantically hiding his face into your chest. tentatively, you wrap your arms around him, rubbing a soothing hand down his back. "it's okay, you're safe. i'm here." your words sound shallow in the darkness. both of you are keenly aware that your time is limited. you will join new games and risk your lives again. and you will come back to each other's arms only to be shaken awake by the horrors haunting you.
arisu sobs into your arms, hands clutching at your clothing. you move to run a hand through his hair, hoping to calm him down. his breathing picks up again in what you can feel is an oncoming panic attack. you shift, coaxing him up so his forehead rests against yours. "breathe, honey, slowly," you demonstrate, taking exaggerated breaths. arisu does his best to follow your actions, still gripping onto you with shaky hands. slowly his breath begins to even out and his hands loosen their grip. you let him hide away into your shoulder, rubbing his back again.
you've always struggled with the concept of time passing, unable to differentiate between minutes and hours passing. days going by unnoticed. months of solitude ignored. since being brought to the borderland, your problem has only become worse. seconds feel like years. you aren't sure how long you've been sitting here, clinging to your closest friend as he cries against your skin. by now his breathing has evened out and the feeling of wetness has dried from your clothing. slowly, you pull back to look arisu in the eyes, resting your hand against his jaw.
"i can't lose you," he whispers. his voice is raw from crying. dried tears stain his cheeks.
"you won't," you murmur, thumb running against his jawline.
"no, i can't… lose you." arisu takes a shaky breath, cupping your cheek with his hand. "i love you."
the silence that follows is almost unbearable. your breath catches in your throat as arisu carefully scans your face, waiting for any reply. when one doesn't come, he looks away, embarrassed. "i know you probably don't feel the same way, especially because we're both men, but-"
"i love you too." the prospect of losing the person you desire most is enough to snap you from your haze. arisu freezes, hesitantly meeting your eyes again.
"really?" the question is so innocent when it falls from his lips. you nod, moving closer to him.
"can i kiss you?" arisu swallows nervously before nodding. slowly, you lean in, pulling him into a gentle kiss. when you pull away, arisu clings to you again.
"will you stay? please?" you shift to lay on your back, letting arisu lay on top of you. his breath is warm against your bare skin as you card your fingers through his locks. "i love you," he repeats, relaxing against your body.
you lean down to press a kiss against his forehead. "i love you too."

The moment Niragi started shooting aimlessly, shouting with the thrill of it, the crowd dispersed. The residents of the beach scattered around, running in any direction that was away from the bullets and blood. They screamed in terror, frightened eyes searching for a place to hide.
In the midst of the chaos, you lost sight of Usagi. Arisu was still being prisoned somewhere on The Beach.
You ran, breaking off from as much of the crowd as you could. If you stayed grouped up with everyone else, you could be found more easily. You made a promise to not only yourself, but everyone you loved and cared about that you wouldn’t die in the borderlands. Especially not by the hands of the militants.
Your heart beat loudly in your chest, the sound of your blood pumping reaching your ears, and your feet hitting the ground creating more noise than you wanted. You couldn’t deny your fear, or the way your hands were sure to shake if you had stood still and held them out in front of you. You were here, running in the halls, completely by yourself, and out in the open.
The sound of screaming and gunshots was still there, echoing in the background. You knew, however, you couldn’t stay here, so vulnerable. You needed to hide—but where could you go? The militants were checking all the rooms, and there was nowhere to go outside. The Beach having turned into a game meant you couldn’t leave the premises. You knew that your best bet was in some random room, as much as you hated it.
When you entered the room, and closed the door, you wished nothing more than for a lock on the door, but there wasn’t any. Hatter had said that all locks on the doors at The Beach were removed, as some sort of symbol of trust. You really could use one right now, though.
Instead, you went for the second best thing. You began to push a dresser in front of the door, groaning as it dragged along the carpeted floor. You hoped this would be enough to keep you safe. It did bring another problem along, however. Now that you had trapped yourself in here, you were safer, but you couldn’t help find the witch. You had to hope someone else would be able to do it. You weren’t even sure you wanted to get in the middle of all that, anyway.
You sat there in the room for a long time, and at some point, the distant sound of a fire alarm reached your ears, along with smoke filling the air. Not enough to make you cough and heave, but you knew it’d get worse.
The building was on fire, and now you had to make a choice. Stay here and burn down with it, or run out there and get gunned down. Neither were ideal.
In the end, you didn’t have to make the choice. Someone tried to open your door, and then paused when they were met with resistance. You knew that since the door wouldn’t budge, they knew that someone was in here. You were screwed.
"Oh, you're done now."
Hearing their voice seep through the cracks between the door and the frame made chills run down your spine. You felt completely and utterly helpless at this moment, almost waiting for a bullet to break through your skull. Was this your fate?
With thoughts running wild, you pulled a nearby painting off the wall, holding it with shaking hands. You were ready to hit it over someone's head if you had to, even though you knew if wouldn't do enough damage. If you were going to die now, you were going to do it fighting.
The person at the other side of the door groaned as they pushed it open, moving the dresser with it. With a breath of exhaustion, they entered the room. You were hidden around a corner, both anticipating and fearing the moment they would come into view. It wasn't long before they did.
You hit the man over the head with the painting, a sharp breath exiting your lungs. As the glass shattered against his forehead, he cried out, falling onto his knees. He turned to look at you with a snarl on his lips, his grip on his gun tightened. Then, the world stilled as his eyes bore into yours. His grip on the weapon faltered for a moment, but he still stood, held the gun up, and aimed between your eyes.
He didn't shoot, though. He stood there, every few seconds looking like he was preparing himself to shoot—every few seconds you were preparing to take your last breath.
You didn't know why he was hesitating so much. Was it because you were younger than the other residents of The Beach? Was it because he didn't actually want to kill anyone in the first place?
He yelled out, pulling back the hand with the gun, and hit you over the head with it. You yelled out in pain, and now it was you on the ground. As your eyes were level with the floor, you felt the fear crash into you harder, and tears pooled into your eyes.
The man roughly flipped you over so that you were on your back, and he looked down at you with anger. "Are you the witch? Huh?!" He shouted, towering over you. He kicked the side of your ribs before you could reply, and you coughed and wheezed at the blunt force of it. "Well? Are you?!" He asked again. You worried that all the noise being made would get others’ attention.
He dropped down beside you, grabbing your face with his hands to make you look at him. You didn't understand why he wouldn't just kill you. You almost wanted him to at this point.
"If you're gonna admit to it, now would be a good time. A whole lot less people would die, and this conversation could end a lot sooner. You hear?" He let go of your face, slapped you, your head snapping to the side.
A tear dripped down your cheek as you turned back to him, choking back a sob. You felt pathetic, and hoped that he wasn't feeling an internal type of joy as you cried. "I'm not the witch. I didn't kill her."
He sighed, pulling the gun up, and aimed between your eyes once again. "We'll fucking see about that."
You closed your eyes, squeezing them shut as more tears slipped passed your eyelids. You knew you were about to meet your end.
But he never shot, you heard him make a noise of pain, so you opened your eyes. He looked dazed, and when you saw someone standing behind him with a skinny metal lamp in hand, you knew he was hit over the back of the head. Slowly, he lost consciousness, and felt over onto you. Somehow that made you feel sick. You needed him away. You began hitting and shoving him off of you, and then shoving yourself backwards into the wall.
"Hey, stop. Calm down." Someone said. You looked up with tears in your eyes, and realized Chishiya was the one who helped you. Him? Of all people? You hardly knew him, and he hardly ever flashed a smile. You were grateful, however.
He kneeled down in front of you, and somehow you felt embarrassed at the tears on your face. You had every right to cry, but it felt like he was looking into your soul.
"Are you okay?" This was the most amount of emotion you had ever seen displayed by him. His face was still flat of expression—unless you looked close enough. His eyes had some sort of softness to them, as well as his voice when he spoke. You felt comforted and safe—with someone you hardly knew, at that.
And to answer his question? You were definitely not okay. There were people running around, going crazy with guns. There was screaming, there was blood, there was tears. You had just been beaten by a guy who was too hesitant and cowardly to kill you immediately, and you were in a building that was going to burn down to the ground. But, you were alive. You supposed that that was okay enough. "I'm okay." You said, nodding lightly.
He looked at you like he knew that you were lying, but he still stood and held out a hand. "You can't stay in here. It's not safe."
You knew he was right, so you grabbed his hand and he helped pull you up. You didn't anticipate the sudden dizziness that would hit you—likely because of the fact that you had gotten hit over the head. Before you could start to tip and be met with the ground again, Chishiya's hands grabbed your shoulders and he steadied you.
You saw something that you could've sworn was concern in his eyes.
"Let's get going." He said. He then threw an arm around your shoulders, pulling you along with him. You felt a hint of guilt, like you were slowing him down. You knew for a fact that he wasn't searching for you until he found you. He probably just heard your cries while passing by, doing something far more important.
Once you were out and in the hallway, the gunshots were louder, but not close enough to need to run. Chishiya went in the opposite direction of the gunshots, pulling you with him. You didn't know where he was taking you, or if he was planning to stay with you, you were just glad to be getting farther from the gunshots. You hoped to not run into any more militants.
You didn't think you had a concussion, but you certainly had one hell of a headache. It made the hallways feel even longer than they already were.
Chishiya hissed lightly, a sound that indicated something was wrong. Before you knew it, he was shoving you into the closest hotel room. You knew not to question his actions or his judgment.
On the other side of the door, you heard people walking by. You were releaved that they didn't open the door to the room you were in.
Chishiya gave you a quick once over, observing the state you were in. Then, his arm was once again around your shoulders, and he was leading you through the hallway.
It wasn't long before you came across someone again, this time someone familiar. It was Arisu and Usagi, along with people you recognized as Tatta and Asahi.
You gasped, running towards them despite the way your head pounded and your ribs ached. "Arisu! Usagi!"
They looked at you, and you could see that they were as releaved and you were. You crashed into them, pulling them both into an embrace. "You're alive." Usagi said in relief. Arisu had you pulled close to him, an arm around you as if he was afraid to let go.
Usagi began ushering you into the hotel room next to you, not wanting to stay out in the open. Before the door closed, you looked back at Chishiya, who was already walking away. He turned back briefly, and nodded at you, before leaving to do what he needed to.
Once in the room, Usagi put her hand under your chin, and lifted your head so that you'd look into her eyes. She gasped, noticing the red hand mark on your face, and the bruise on your forehead.
"What happened?" Arisu asked, also seeing. He wasn't in his best state, you noticed.
"Is that what's most important right now?" You replied.
Usagi pursed her lips together, but pulled you and Arisu to the bed in the room anyway. "We're talking about this later."

It’ll Be Alright
Aguni x Dom!Male reader
Female reader, she/her or she/they DNI
Warnings:Angst,Fluff,Hurt-Comfort
The Beach was created for everyone to feel safe.Like they had somewhere to go after playing those gruesome games that the borderland had set up for them.Practically everyone there was partying, having sex, smoking 24/7,and the best part about it for them is that the leader allows it all.Though of course the leader wouldn’t be anything without their subordinates or his executives to be specific. There were seven in total and one of those people being M/n L/n.He became an executive because of his skills when it came to games of spade and hearts. He was also in charge of spectating all the members and assisting the leader of the militants,Aguni. The other male wasn’t too fond of the h/c haired male but it was Hatters decision.
Now getting more into M/n.If the beach members had to describe him he would be another version of Aguni. The only difference between the two was height and demeanor.M/n was the guy you could actually reason with, without having to get physical. He is usually upbeat and can be seen talking to beach members on the regular. Some of the ladies would always leave subtle hints of wanting something more when they were talking with him.Sadly for them he would always disregard their comments and focus on the most normal parts of their interactions.
Believe it or not,M/n can usually be seen following close behind Aguni whenever the shorter male had to go renew his visa. When they were playing games with each other, other players considered them to work in sync with one another. That was the case with any game they played together, the two of them both used their own abilities to play the games. The more time the two spent together the comfortable the two got with each other. When the two of them weren’t playing the borders games, they would be having conversations with each other and M/n would always have an arm thrown over the shorter males shoulder as they spoke.
The two men had gotten comfortable with one another, and Hatter hadn’t failed to notice it.He also never failed to notice how Aguni face would redden when M/n put his arm around him,but the male never failed to hold his stoic expression.Once Hatter saw that he decided every time it was time for all the beach people to go play games to collect cards,he just so happens to make them have the same number on their cards when it was time to collect more cards.
.
.
.
.
A few says have passed and some new people had arrived as well Arisu and Usagi were there names.Besides that everything seemed to be going normal at the beach.Well…..that was until Hatter had to go renew his visa.
.
.
.
M/n was currently walking to the meeting room where all the executives were.Tata had came to him and apparently something bad happened, and it wouldn’t be further explained till everyone was there. Now standing in front of the door, the h/c haired male walked inside the room only to see the other executives standing around something. Now approaching the table his eyes widened at the sight of Hatters pale figure. The gunshot wound going through his chest, seemingly where his heart was.
“What the hell happened?”M/n muttered as he went to stand beside Niragi.
“Don’t know but the bastards dead, meaning that we need a new number 1.”Niragi said now looking at M/n.As a way of debating who should be the next leader at first the number 2 was going to take that place, but Niragi had other plans.Pointing his gun at the others(besides M/n since he has a genuine fear of him) and having Last Boss point his blade at the others.
By the end of the meeting Aguni had become the new king of the Beach.Though M/n had noticed Aguni’s demeanor.Sure the man had maintained his stoic expression but M/n couldn’t help but feel the radiation of regret and guilt emitting from his friend. He also knew that Aguni was Hatters best friend,so maybe those feelings that he felt coming from the shorter male was the regret of not being there for his friend.
.
.
.
.
Nighttime was nearing and M/n had just finished cleaning up his room.He was now laying in his bed reading a book with his lamp on right next to him.His reading was cut short due to a heavy knock on his door. With a sigh he placed a bookmark that he had found in his book. Now standing up and opening the door he saw Aguni who he hadn’t been expecting.Usually he would be in his room asleep but no,here he was standing in the h/c haired males doorway.
“Um hey did ya need something?”M/n said as the other male just invited himself in his room with his arms to his side.M/n shut his door as Aguni kicked off his boots and sat on his bed.Usually this would be a normal occurrence for the two but when the ex soilder had came in the whole atmosphere seemed tense.
“Is there something wrong?”M/n said as he approached his bed, sitting where he had been before he was disrupted.Aguni was silent, keeping his gaze towards the ground as M/n placed a hand on the males shoulder and he visibly tensed up.The s/c skinned male furrowed his eyebrows and put a hand under the males chin so he’d face him.His eyes widened when he saw his puffy red eyes.
“If this is about Hatter then-”
“I killed him.”Aguni had cut off the other male mid scentence.M/n pulled his hand away and looked at him with widened eyes.Aguni stared dead at him, staring into his soul.Even though he wanted to run out the room and tell the others, but something in him made him stay and want to hear the other males side of the story.M/n sat up and nodded his head allowing Aguni to continue.
“He wasn’t acting like himself...he had pulled gun on me and I thought he was gonna pull the trigger so I-um.”Aguni chocked on his words feeling all the guilt washing over him,the same feeling he had when holding his lifeless friend in his arms.M/n understood the males situation,he had killed his best friend out of pure reaction. In all honesty he would’ve done the same thing.M/n scooted closer to the male and pulled him into a hug.The shorter males stoic expression had fallen and he started to cry.M/n didn’t know what to do exactly to help, but he was just going to do what he did best.
“His gun wasn’t even loaded,a-and I fucking shot him.His d-damn gun wasn’t f-fucking loaded either.”Aguni sobbed while gripping the back of M/n’s shirt. The h/c haired male sat there processing the whole situation. The entire situation was unintentional and this was the outcome of it.Without saying anything,M/n pulled Aguni on top of him and let the male cry into his chest. He turned off the lamp beside his bed and slithered his hand up the males shirt. He began rubbing circles into the males back.
A few minutes went by and the room fell into silence. The sound of soft snores had filled the room, once Aguni passed out.M/n had wrapped his arms around the males waist and turned to the side so he could pull the male close.Aguni’s face was now nuzzled in the s/c skinned males neck as said male began to fall asleep himself. Was M/n qualified to comfort to shorter male,no he wasn’t.Even so the h/c haired male knew that his friend(boyfriend) needed some comfort and some asssurance that everything would be alright.

Real Men Don't Flinch Or Bleed In Public
Rating: T... or perhaps M. Content Warnings: Mentions of past child abuse, self-harm scars, toxic masculinity/general toxic mindset, and referenced/implied abuse of alcohol and addictive substances. Summary: Karube is strong. He keeps everything under wraps and never lets anyone see past his tough exterior. His boyfriend of three years and best-friend of fourteen, Arisu, manages to do so anyways. Word count: 2,900. a/n: i've been sitting on this for almost a year now, i think i started this before i deactivated my last account, hm. anyhow, i was feeling bummed since i didn't back up my writing pieces from my last account, so as a tribute to those fallen soldiers and also to clear some of my AIB google documents, i present this to the world.
— Usually, he’d lock himself somewhere and handle it on his own. He didn’t cry (He hated crying, it made him feel pathetic and weak), just…consoled himself, as he’d done since he was a little boy, quickly learning that if he were to be shunned when he showed vulnerability instead of being shown comfort, then he’d simply handle himself. That way, the only shame and ridicule he'd be subjected to was his own.
To be caught crying as a man (A man; not a boy, just six, with skinny limbs and bony shoulders and bruised knees) was one of the largest displays of weakness there could be, and in his youth, he beat himself up over it enough on his own - he didn’t need the harsh words and jeers of others to break him down more.
That habit followed him closely into adulthood. Now, as he’s grown from the little boy he once was and sprouted his own problems, it’s no longer just tucking himself away and trying to swipe away his tears. It was deep breaths, trembling hands, a repeated mantra in his skull of Suck it up, you’re a man as he willed himself to calm down and hastily glued back the pieces of his facade that managed to chip off.
He’s been bottling up his emotions for as long as he can remember. You’re a man, men don’t cry, his mother told him, ever since he was old enough to listen. Men are strong. Only little bitches cry, and I didn’t raise no bitch, Daikichi. You’re the man of the house now, since your Daddy ran off to who knows where.
In his life, there has never been any room or time for tears. He couldn’t let his sadness seep out of him, so he stuffed it all in, trapped it somewhere no one could reach and drowned it in the unhealthiest ways he could find; if he could not be sad, sentimental, and vulnerable, he'd be angry, hateful, and destructive. Cigarettes and alcohol helped, his vulnerable emotions reduced to nothing but a helpless gurgle of life within the raging sea of his being.
In the kitchen, his hands are shaking. They tremble like a leaf in the Autumn breeze and as a result he spills some of the powdered instant coffee meant to go into the cup of milk. It was just something to give him enough energy for work because sleep had abandoned him during the night, leaving him resolutely stranded in the planes of consciousness, desolate. He feels restless now, alive, but he knows it won’t last. This coffee will be like liquid gold in his veins, ichor, the blood of Gods, powering him through the work day.
The powder clumsily cleaned with a paper towel, he digs through the cabinet and adds some hard liquor to his cup, watching the milk curdle instantly, producing a foul concoction. He stirs it in, takes a sip, and feels satisfaction spread through him at the repulsive flavor that curses his tongue. It didn’t need to taste good. It only needed to supply him with energy his body was too burnt out to produce.
He takes his mug out onto the balcony, sits on the chair there and strikes up a cigarette.
Breathe.
His lungs burn. The taste of the coffee is almost overpowered by potent smoke, familiar after so many years.
In, out.
He shakily exhales, watching the smoke curl from his lips and up into the darkness of the early morning sky. He’s hit with a sudden rush of nostalgia, of awakening at five in the morning when it was still handsomely black outside to get ready for the school bus, back when he only numbed a cig or three every once in a while, instead of a pack a week. It used to be worse. It used to be pack after pack in dangerously short time frames, but he swore to cut down on the nicotine. For himself, partly, and for Arisu; he didn't deserve the cancer that came from second hand smoke, didn't deserve to live in an apartment with yellowed walls. Right now, though, he simply can’t settle with a stick of nicotine gum. He needs this burn, this heat.
A part of him, nestled right inside his ribs, longs to be a kid again - not for the poverty or the abuse or the mistreatment, the absent father and the crazed mother who gave him violence before love. No, he wants the youth. The sense of freedom that came with young age, the sense that nothing really mattered, even when his life was falling apart, from his home with walls yellow from smoke and too many things broken to count, to his future and ambitions.
Karube presses the cigarette to his lips yet again just as the balcony door slides open yet again. There’s the soft pad of shuffled footsteps and then a head of messy unruly hair that’s sticking up this way and that, balled fists rubbing at scrunched eyes. It’s Arisu, huddled in a quilt as he takes a seat in the other chair. From the corner of his eye Karube sees him staring from across the table.
“Are you okay?”
Karube doesn’t look at him. He looks down, down at his thighs clad in pajama pants, at his bare feet and the ash dropping onto the balcony. He feels ashamed, somewhat, for being caught smoking, even if he knows Arisu won’t judge him like that.
“Nah.” His answer is short, curt and barely audible. Arisu told him that he didn’t need to lie around him, and how could he bear to go against that invitation when he had to look into those big, shiny eyes? More smoke files from his lungs. His hands are still shaking and he almost, almost drops the cigarette.
“Okay.” A bird caws, echoing through the morning. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Arisu was gentle. He didn’t push but he didn’t ignore the problem, either - he tried to resolve it without words, because he wasn’t the best at those, either. Little gestures; running him a bath, massaging his shoulders, telling him he loved him in that soft, low voice with those big, big eyes. That last one always left Karube breathless and feeling vulnerable; exposed, like someone had sliced him from neck to stomach and revealed everything inside, his beating heart and his working organs and the bundle of something small, something soft and pure, something he hasn’t been in decades.
Karube only shakes his head in reply and Arisu nods. He looks out at the sky, at the moon still looming above them, bathing them both in powdery grey light. He stands, and then he asks - “Can I kiss you? Is that okay?”
His heart pulses. There’s a barely there movement of his head before Arisu tenderly, gently cups the side of his head, kisses his temple with fluttering lips. “Goodnight, Karube. I love you.” Is what he says, giving him another kiss as he does. Then, he retreats, closing the sliding door behind him.
I love you. His head reels. He feels like shit, like his life force has been trampled on and thrown into moving traffic, but at the very least, he has his baby’s love to hold close to his heart.
Out there on the balcony, he sits and watches the sunrise. When his cigarette becomes a stub he strikes up another, drains his repulsive coffee-alcohol mix and lets the combined effects fill him as dawn breaks into buttery yellow sun. The world around bustles to life, other balconies around the complex becoming occupied. A mother retrieving her toddler’s clothing from the makeshift line; A little old woman sipping her tea; A tired looking girl who's just barely a woman, probably a college student, with her hair in a messy bun and a fat furry cat on her lap, stroking its back and smacking her lips as she blinks at the outside world.
He goes inside, puts his mug in the sink and trails to the bathroom to ready himself to work. He showers quickly, ice cold to shock him into motion, then he takes a piss and brushes his teeth. When he’s swishing mouthwash Arisu shuffles through the doorframe, only wearing a big baggy shirt that hangs to his upper thigh on his tall frame, exposing the long expanse of his skinny legs. The plaid of boxers peeks out below the shirt hem and they come down for Arisu to sit on the toilet, blinking and looking rather frazzled, clearly having just woken up for the second time.
Arisu kicks his boxers off and away from him while he pees, hands curling on his thighs and Karube stares at him. Even like this, doing something so mundane and human and ‘ick’, he still thinks, This is the man I love. This is the man I gave my heart to.
“Is there somethin’ wrong with my face?” Arisu murmurs, slurring his words as he turns his gaze on Karube, rubbing at his eye with his wrist. He blinks at Karube with a perplexed expression and…yeah, that’s fair. Karube has just been watching him in silence as he relieves himself.
Karube spits out his mouthwash and watches the foamy green fluid go down the drain when he turns on the faucet again. “No. Nothin’ wrong, baby.” He rinses his mouth out once more as Arisu is standing, closing the lid before he flushes and peeling off his shirt while the water runs through the pipes. His nude body is a canvas of fading love bites on his chest and belly, healed over scars on his inner thighs and a few on his arms, too. Karube knows of their origin, he was there when they were made, there to rinse the blood from the steak-knife, bandage his torn skin and mutilated flesh. They haven’t been reopened in three whole months.
Arisu starts up the shower and Karube looks back into the mirror, at the face that earns him purred words of We should take this somewhere else, big boy at the bar, manicured nails curling around a glass. If it were a few years ago, before he had Arisu as a boyfriend instead of merely a best friend, he would’ve grinned at them (The grin that made him look like a wolf) and taken them up on their offer. Now, he merely smiles wryly and delivers a not rude, but not polite reply of Banks closed.
He was used to curvaceous bodies, feminine with wide hips and soft chest and something to grab in the back, high pitched moans and lips that left sticky prints on his skin. Arisu is skinny with virtually no fat. His voice is low, courtesy of the needle he sticks himself with every morning, and he hasn’t touched make-up since that dare he was proposed at sixteen. But, Arisu gave him what the women at the bar couldn’t - not just sex, lustful intimacy, but love. Understanding. He’d cup Karube’s face with his big gentle hands, smile wide and kiss his nose (The one that has a scar and a rough patch after so much fighting in his teens), say I love you and work his way into Karube’s heart, making a home there and living on a lease that would never expire.
His fingers come to button the undone front of his shirt, leaving a few undone so he doesn't feel so suffocated. His neck rolls and he sighs out at the crack of his bones. Then, after gathering Arisu’s discarded clothes from the floor, he exits the bathroom.
The clothing is dumped into the hamper which is then loaded into the washing machine. They do laundry twice a week, and today is a Monday. Wash day. He dumps in a cup of laundry detergent as well as some softening beads (A luxury, to he who grew up poor with more clothes dirty than he had clean), presses the buttons to start the cycle then walks out of the small laundry room - shutting the door behind him - and stepping into the kitchen.
He intends to make something quick for breakfast, just fry up an egg and pre-cooked sausage patty on some toast, however, he gets stuck in his own head while waiting for the bread to cook.
His eyes are glued to the knife block. His thoughts wander off of their path and he thinks that he could - he could - end everything. The turmoil inside him could be silence, the misery and pain ebbing away at his being finally put to a halt. Suck it up, you’re a man, his mother told him, he tells himself, but she’s not here anymore. She’s gone. Dead or drinking herself there, but wherever she may be, she’s not here. It’s merely his thoughts torturing him with the repeated mantra.
Karube is only broken out of his daze by the pop! of the toaster. Arisu has arrived, fingers leaving the toaster’s lever to shift two slightly overcooked pieces of bread onto the plate Karube had set out, blowing his fingers after he does so. At the very least, they’re not burnt.
His boyfriend is dressed in his work pants and a sports bra. He smells strongly of soap, turning his eyes on Karube. “And you tell me not to burn the house down,” He says, voice laced with amusement. He messes with how the bra clings to his ribs and tugs it down a little more.
“My manager asked if I could work paid overtime, and I said yes, obviously, so I’ll be home late.” Arisu speaks as he fetches one of the baby applesauce pouches from the cabinet, one of many infant foods in their pantry because they appeased the man’s picky appetite. “And Kuina wants me to model more of the clothes she tailored this weekend.”
Arisu wordlessly cracks the egg Karube has been holding for the past minute, letting it drop and sizzle in the heated pan as he drinks his applesauce. Those eyes of his are shiny, knowing.
“If you’re not gonna lay off work today, try not to collapse, hm?” He pats Karube center in the chest, then leaves, presumably to put a shirt on. He didn’t ask for an answer from Karube, didn’t express any verbal concern as to why he wasn’t speaking. He merely let him be, and that’s one of the many things Karube loves about Arisu. He does not nag, nor does he put himself at a distance; when Karube says something hurtful, he tells him so with sad eyes, and doesn't try to fix him when it's not his place to do so. He is what Karube needs, and too good for him all the same.
His egg is brown around the edges and his sausage is cold in the center. Still, Karube eats, because the taste or quality doesn't matter. This food is fuel, something to ease the natural pain of hunger his body subjects him to. He probably won't eat again until the evening, will probably have a cigarette on his lunch break and a few distant, dangerous thoughts to munch on.
Fuck the bar. Fuck, everything, and everyone. By the door, Karube doesn't put on his shoes, instead sinking down into the couch and staring up at the ceiling. He can open in the evening, which would be more reasonable. He just…
No. He should still go. His legs still work and he's not dying. He can work, so he should go. So why doesn't he want to? Why is he so hesitant to follow the words his mother has told him his whole life?
Karube is spooked out of his thoughts by big calloused hands on the sides of his face from behind, tilting his head up as soft lips kiss his own. "I'm leaving now," Arisu informs him, this upside down view of him still so beautiful. "Remember not to push yourself too hard, like you always tell me. Take your own advice."
He receives a back hug and another kiss on his cheek before Arisu disappears out the door. The words of his boyfriend fight against what Karube has been taught for years. But, of course, Arisu wins, and Karube does not make his way into the outside world.
Of course, he can feel the shame, guilt, and anger at himself settling in, seeping into him like poison. His hands ball into fists as he leans forward, arms on his thighs, teeth working the inside of his cheek. His mother's voice nags him - What are you doing, sitting around like a bum? Get out there and work like real men do! You're a man, aren't you
His phone buzzed, drawing him out of his brain. It's a text from Arisu of him posing beside an advertisement with a rabbit, followed by the message; Found my long lost twin in the subway :0
And something as simple as this, a digital message on a tiny cellular device, isn't enough to fix all his problems. He is still frayed, ruined, a cocoon filled with red violence ready to birth itself into the world. He is still damaged, still missing pieces of himself that he left back in his mother's house.
But, as he hearts the message with some semblance of a smile, he at least feels loved.

After the Countdown
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Death comes for everyone when it’s their time, appearing with a warm smile and a comforting hand to guide them to the Sunless Lands. And so Death came to the Borderlands to collect three souls after their deaths in the botanical gardens. But two of them weren’t quite ready to move on.
CW: character death (vague language used but just to give a heads-up)
Also posted to AO3.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
She watched in the garden, unseen, as the young man ran toward his friend. She could hear the crying of the other two, both of them hugging each other to gain whatever comfort they could in their final moments. They didn’t have much time left, these three. The young man—Ryohei, she remembered, from when she came for his mother—Ryohei would live far longer, the last survivor of the four in these strange Borderlands.
For mortals, such a fate seemed cruel and unfair. But it was simply how it was.
The blonde man’s eyes turned suddenly, and met hers. He didn’t speak, didn’t want to alert his friend to his location, but his eyes spoke for him. It’s time?
Death nodded with a solemn yet kind smile. “Yes, I’m afraid so,”
A soft sigh escaped him, before he nodded and took out his pack of cigarettes from his pocket. He lit up a cigarette with practiced ease and leaned against the railing to look off into the distance. “Would you go for Chota first?” he mumbled, too soft for his friends to hear but heard clearly by her. “He sounds pretty scared.”
Death smiled and nodded. “He’ll be all right. You all will.”
The man’s shoulders relaxed with a relieved sigh and he took an inhale of his cigarette.
“Karube!” they heard Ryohei scream.
“I’m behind you,” the man said aloud. There were footsteps, then Ryohei stumbled into view. His eyes were wide and desperate. The man didn’t turn his head to look at him, but looked into the distance with a soft smile. Death wondered if it was difficult for him to not turn his head, to not look at his best friend of so many years one last time.
“Arisu… thank you.”
“Five… four… three… two…”
“KARUBE!”
An explosion. And then Karube Daikichi was gone, his physical body falling to the ground with an unceremonious thump.
Death sighed softly as she felt the simultaneous deaths of Segawa Chota and Shibuki Saori. At least they were quick deaths; that was ideal in a place like this. She watched Ryohei stare at the body of his friend in blank shock and for a moment lamented not being able to comfort him more. He’d lost so many people now. But she had a request to fulfill, so she turned and went off into the botanical gardens.
Chota and Saori were still clutching each other, even while their physical bodies were sprawled in the dirt. Saori was the first to sense her approach. She pulled away from Chota, wiped her eyes on her blazer sleeve with a sniffle, and looked up. Chota turned to see what she was looking at, and froze.
Death smiled and sank down into a squat. “Hey, you two,”
“W-Who… Who are you?” Chota questioned. “How did you…”
He trailed off. Death simply looked back at him as realization slowly came over his face. She gave him a soft smile. “Good to see you again, Chota.”
“Y-You know my name?”
“Of course I do. I was there when you were born. Oh, your mum was so happy that day.” She couldn’t help remembering the happy, relieved tears of Chota’s mother as she cradled her screaming newborn. “I was there when you were born too, Saori,” she added, turning to the woman who was looking at her in shock and slight awe. “Everyone said you looked like your mother.”
Tears welled up in Saori’s eyes and she hastily wiped them away. “I-It‘s time, isn’t it?” she asked shakily.
Death nodded. “Afraid so. But don’t worry—I’ll be there with you the whole way.”
She offered her hands to the two, and after a moment’s pause, they both took her hands. She helped them stand with a warm smile, then let them look down at their bodies. This part was always difficult.
“I wish I could’ve said goodbye to my mom,” Chota said quietly. “And Arisu… Arisu!” He turned to Death. “Where is he?”
A scream suddenly tore through the air. It was a guttural wail, a howl of grief that Death had heard many times before. Chota’s head snapped in the direction of the sound, then he turned back to Death pleadingly. “I, I know I just died, but… can I go to him?”
Death gave him a soft smile. “Of course you can. Daikichi’s already over there.”
Chota sighed in gratitude and bowed. “Thank you.” He was about to leave, then stopped and turned back to Saori. He pulled her into another hug. “I’m sorry, Shibuki.”
Saori hugged him tightly in return. “I… I should be the one to apologize, Chota. I’m so sorry…”
“Don’t be. I hope we can spend more time together now… as friends?”
A watery smile crossed Saori’s face. “I’d like that.” She kissed his cheek. “Take care, Chota.”
“You too, Shibuki,”
As Chota dashed off in the direction of the wails of grief, Saori turned back to Death, who stood patiently. She wiped her eyes and tried to square her shoulders. “I’m…” Something in her face cracked. “Am I… Will I be punished for what I’ve done?”
“Oh, Saori…” Death shook her head. “Of course not. You were taken advantage of, then forced to be in this place and survive however you could. None of that is a crime. Your existence from now on will be peaceful. I promise.”
Saori’s shoulders sagged in relief, like a weight she’d been carrying for far too many years was finally gone. “Oh… Alright…” She squared her shoulders again, this time more confidently. “So, what happens next?”
Death smiled and offered her her hand. “Here’s when you find out,”
Saori reached out and took her hand, and with a flap of her wings, Death carried her away to the Sunless Lands.
When she returned to the botanical gardens, she found Daikichi and Chota with Ryohei, who had collapsed to his knees as he howled and sobbed in grief. They both knelt on either side of him, Daikichi looking mildly annoyed while Chota tried to pat Ryohei’s shoulder. “Ready to go?” she asked aloud as she approached.
Chota looked up sadly. “He can’t feel my hand, can he?”
Death shook her head. “No, he can’t. You’re technically a spirit now.”
“He can’t hear us, either,” Daikichi grumbled. “I already hate being dead.”
Death chuckled. “If it’s any consolation, he can probably feel your presence. Sometimes a close connection makes it possible, and you three were as close as can be.”
Chota looked somewhat comforted by that. Daikichi frowned. “It’s probably just making him feel worse,” he groused softly, no venom whatsoever in his words. “He’s going to blame himself for this, I just know it. Stupid idiot…”
Chota looked up at Death again. “I know we have to go, but… can’t we stay with him? Just to make sure he’ll be okay?”
Death sighed. “I’m sorry, Chota, but you can’t stay with him here.”
“Where even is here, anyway?” Daikichi demanded, rising to his feet to give her a look that demanded no bullshit. “Is this some sort of fucked up hell?”
With a soft chuckle, Death answered honestly, “No, it’s not Hell. Believe me, Hell is far worse. The Borderlands are… well, they’re a border, a threshold, between life and death.”
“Like… limbo?” Chota asked hesitantly.
Death nodded. “Like limbo, yes. It’ll come back to you in a while, how you got here, but you’ve been sent here to see whether you’ll live or die. But this is a threshold, a temporary space. No one’s meant to stay here any longer than they’re meant to. And since you died, you’ll have to leave.”
“But what about Arisu?” Chota rose to his feet alongside Daikichi. “He’ll be all alone now. What if he dies too?”
“He won’t be alone for very long,” Death assured. “And I can’t give you many details, but Ryohei isn’t meant to die for many, many years. Your deaths won’t be in vain.”
“Yeah, but we don’t know that,” Daikichi insisted stubbornly. “I mean, look at him. He’s not going to survive for very long if he’s like this. He’s gonna want to give up, and we can’t let him do that.”
Chota nodded in agreement. “We can’t leave him. He’s our brother.”
Death couldn’t help smiling at the two. Most in the Borderlands were relieved to leave, finally free of the cruel landscape of survival. It was rare that someone wanted to stay, to make sure their companions were all right. It was rare in general, really, and it was always so touching when it did happen. “It’s wonderful that you want to make sure he’s all right. But like I said, this is a temporary place. Dead souls can’t stay where they’re not meant to be.” Daikichi and Chota’s faces fell, then perked up as she continued. “But… there are some loopholes in that rule.”
“Really?” Chota asked hopefully.
Death couldn’t help grinning at them. “The rules of the mortal plane and the Borderlands can’t be changed… but the rules of dreams are quite different.”
“How can we do that?” Daikichi asked urgently.
“I’ll have to ask my brother, but I’m sure when he hears your story, he’ll let you see Ryohei in his dreams. It’d only be when you’re needed most, and you wouldn’t be able to stay in his dreams forever, but you’d be there when he needs you while he’s in the Borderland.”
Daikichi and Chota looked at each other, then nodded. “We’ll do it,” Daikichi said resolutely.
“And if… whoever your brother is… if he doesn’t let us, we’ll make him let us,” Chota swore.
“I’ll punch him in the fucking face if I have to.” Daikichi shook his fist for emphasis.
Death couldn’t help laughing at the image of her brother’s face after receiving a punch from an angry Daikichi. “I don’t think it’ll come to that. Between you and me, I’m his favorite sister; I can probably persuade him to do it.” She couldn’t help glancing down at Ryohei, who had managed to tear off his headpiece and rocked back and forth on the ground as he cried. “In the meantime, though…”
Daikichi and Chota looked down at Ryohei. Chota sighed and glanced at his friend. “I guess it’s time for us to leave now.”
“Yeah,” Daikichi mumbled sadly. He reached out and gingerly placed a hand on Ryohei’s shoulder. “Goodbye, Arisu,” he said softly.
Chota squeezed his other shoulder, despite knowing Ryohei couldn’t feel him. “We’ll be back, promise.”
Ryohei’s cries marginally began to soften, as though he really could feel the presence of his friends on either side of him.
With a deep breath, Daikichi stepped away from Ryohei and looked to Death, Chota alongside him. “We’re ready now,”
Death nodded her head and held out her hands for them to take. The two friends glanced at each other, and Chota smiled slightly at Daikichi. The other mirrored his smile, then they took her hands. “I hope the afterlife is nice,” Chota stated in a semi-joking tone.
Death smiled warmly at him. “Let’s go see,”
And with a rush of her wings, she carried them away.

IF HE WAS BEING HONEST, HE DIDN’T KNOW IT WOULD COME TO THIS. He could remember it like it was yesterday, when you held out your hand and took his — placing them together on your belly. Your lilac eyes shone against his bright blue, full of wonder and anxiety. He was frozen at that moment. He was overwhelmed.
Not even his six-eyes could keep up with his emotions, his thoughts. He knew it was an accident, he knew it wasn’t something both of you planned. But he was happy. He was all too happy that he scooped you in his arms, as though you were the treasure of the world and cradled you, whispering the most loving things, loving words ever known to any being.
It was never your plan to have children, not even with the pressure from the elders of your clans. There was never the time. There was never a sense of security. WIth what Satoru was planning to do, with what dangers there’ll be — just like he had experienced in youth, none of you wanted that for your child. And you wanted to help him, you wanted to do well by him. Satoru was your lifeline, your purpose to live was his goal. Your life with him was what made your life blossom in these past few years of marriage. But that changed too, with the bludding life growing in your belly.
You both cried that night, holding each other. It was hard to comprehend that this was happening, that a child had chosen both of you. You were glad that the Tsumiki and Megumi were at a sleep-over. They didn’t need to see you both so conflicted with your joy and your worries. No kid should be burdened by such a thing as the worries of the heavy world.
The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of evening casting long shadows on the walls. Satoru sat across from you, his cerulean eyes reflecting a myriad of emotions—excitement, concern, and a fierce determination to protect. The news of your pregnancy had brought a bittersweet mix of joy and anxiety.
“We need to decide what to do next, darling.” Satoru said, his voice steady but laced with worry. “I don’t want you to suffer like my mother did. The multiple assassination attempts... I can’t let that happen to you.”
“We can’t tell the world, Satoru,” you said quietly with a soft nod. “The higher-ups could see this as an issue. There was a time when the passing of powers in the Gojo clan – similar to the Six-Eyes, was from father to son. They might see our child as a threat, Satoru….and I…I don’t want them to hurt our child.”
Satoru’s jaw tightened, his protective instincts kicking in. “Then we keep this between us, Megumi, and Tsumiki. My mother….maybe your mother and Aunt Arisu can help us hide this from the world too. They’ll understand the importance of keeping this secret.”
You reached out, your fingers intertwining with his. “They will. They’ve always been supportive of us…and our plans. They’ll be kind to us about this too. It is their next of kin now, after all.”
For a moment, your husband looks at you. His free hand draped across your cheek and you looked at him so lovingly, leaning your head against the warm palm of his hand. He could feel how lucky he was. How beautiful you were. His eyes lowered at your belly and felt that same warmth glowing from within you, as welcoming and loving towards the person who had helped give such life to the growing seed in your belly.
Satoru pulled you into a gentle embrace, his arms wrapping around you protectively. “I’m sorry, darling.” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “I’m sorry.”
You pulled back slightly, looking up at him with confusion. “Why are you apologizing?”
“Because….” he said, his voice barely above a whisper, “You’re the one who will suffer the most here, not me. The secrecy, the danger... it’s all on you. And all I can do is hold your hand. And I….”
You shook your head, resting your hand against his cheek. “Your hand is more than enough. You by my side is more than enough. All I have ever needed, all our child will ever need — is you. All they need is their father.”
“When did I ever deserve something as good as you in my life?”
You smiled at him, “Because you are good, Satoru. You’ve always been.”
“You’re the most important thing in my life.” He whispers to you, his hand on your belly. “You and our child.”
“We’re in this together, Satoru. I’m not alone in this.” You let your hand brush against his silver locks. “Because you’ll always be here, hm?”
He closed his eyes, leaning into your touch. “I love you,” he said softly, his voice trembling slightly. “I love both of you. And I’ll protect you with all I have.”
Tears welled up in your eyes, the weight of his words sinking in. “I love you too,” you whispered, feeling the strength of his love envelop you. “We’ll get through this. Together.”
The next few days were a whirlwind of planning and preparation. Your mother and Aunt Arisu were brought into the fold, their wisdom and experience invaluable in devising a plan to keep your pregnancy a secret. They promised to support you in any way they could, offering their home as a safe haven where you could hide from prying eyes.
Megumi and Tsumiki were surprisingly understanding, their loyalty to you and Satoru unwavering. They vowed to keep the secret, to protect their future sibling from the dangers that lurked in the shadows of the jujutsu world.
As the weeks turned into months, you found strength in the love and support of those around you. Satoru’s determination to protect you never wavered, his presence a constant source of comfort and reassurance. Despite the secrecy and the danger, there was a sense of hope that carried you through each day.
And in the quiet moments, when it was just the two of you, you felt a deep sense of gratitude for the love that bound you together. It was a love that would see you through the darkest of times, a love that would protect and nurture the new life growing inside you. And with Satoru by your side, you knew you could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
The days leading up to Satoru's confrontation with Sukuna were heavy with unspoken fears and silent resolutions. Each moment felt borrowed, a fragile gift that could shatter under the weight of impending doom. You moved through your days with a heightened awareness, every touch, every glance laden with meaning. The anticipation was a living thing, a constant presence that neither of you could shake.
The last time you both saw your son was during separate visits to the ancestral manor. He knew you had been there, especially when you brought Yuuji along at his request. Satoru had visited him shortly afterward, driven by an insistent need to see his boy before the impending confrontation. The weight of the world seemed lighter, if only for a moment, as he thought of his son.
Satoru could only sigh, the longing in his heart palpable. He had yearned for Suguru for the past eleven, twelve years, a constant ache that never quite faded. Yet, this longing for Suguru, as intense as it was, paled in comparison to the deep, unyielding yearning of a father. He had missed his son so much, too much. The distance, both physical and emotional, had been a torment he could hardly bear.
Satoru was certain he remembered everything about his son. The boy was a spitting image of him—silver hair that fell a bit longer, the same striking blue eyes, though his son's were even darker, like the depths of the sea. But more importantly, he recognized the essence of you in every move, every quirk, every smile. Your son might look like Satoru, but in all the ways that mattered, he was you.
Satoru adored him the most in the world. Even if he loves you, there is truly nothing that’s going to encapsulate, translate how much he loves his little boy. Your son was a constant, beautiful reminder of the bond you both shared. Your son carried your grace, your kindness, and your strength. Every time Satoru looked at him, he saw the love and unity that defined your relationship. For that, he was profoundly grateful. For that, he was happy. There was a reminder of you, of him, together in this world, encapsulated in the boy who bore the best of both of you.
And here he was, newly sealed, recovering from all of it;
All he could think about was wanting to see your dear boy.
All he could think about was wanting to embrace him again.
"I want to go to Hida," he said, his voice steady but laced with a vulnerability that made your heart ache. He looks to you softly, eyes full of yearning. “I wanna see him.”
"Are you sure?" you asked gently, searching his face for any hesitation. You purse your lips. “Satoru, it’s unsafe now. Are you sure?”
He nodded, a small, almost imperceptible smile tugging at his lips. "I want to spend as much time as possible trying to make sure our son understands that his father loves him."
You could hear the uncertainty in his voice, the doubt that gnawed at him despite his resolute exterior. "Satoru, you're a good father." you assured him, but he shook his head, his expression conflicted. “You have put your own heart at hold to protect him. He understands.”
"I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong," he admitted, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "I love our son as much as I love Megumi, as much as I love you. But I didn't have a father growing up. Mine died when I was young, and I don't remember him very well. My mother tells me that he loved a lot, but I don't know if I believe that."
You stepped closer, placing a comforting hand on his arm. "You love our son, and that's what matters most. He's always known that, even if you haven't been able to be there as much as you wanted. He sees it because you show him.”
Satoru sighed, his gaze distant as he recalled the moments he missed, the milestones he couldn't witness firsthand. "I want to be the best father to him, darling. I want him to know he's the most beloved son. That I love him the most in the world.”
"You already are, Satoru," you whispered, leaning your head against his shoulder.
“We have to see him.” Your husband retorts back to you, a sad smile on his lips. “If this is the last chance—”
“It won’t be,” You shake your head at him. “You know that.”
“I know, but…” He sighs, resting his head against the crook of your neck. “I want to be sure. Nothing is bound, darling. I want to… I want to be able to leave him with something he can remember his old man by.”
The weight of his words pressed down on you both, the unspoken fears and the grim reality of what was to come. You could feel your throat choke up as you tried to banish the tears from your eyes. The thought of Satoru not being there hurt you.
Not only because you loved him, but because you knew your son loved him the best in the world. The thought of him becoming without the person he holds dear in the world, it tears you apart.
You want to believe that your husband was the title he was given. You knew he was strong. You believe he will overcome this. That’s why you keep putting off visiting your son. It was safer, it would be in the future that you and Satoru had fought so hard to fight for. But your husband was just a man too. A man who has a finite life and a heart too big for the world to comprehend. He was just Satoru. A husband, a father. A friend, a teacher. He was just like that.
You look at him with a guilty look. You were selfish with him, with what you said. He needed you, he needed Satoru. Your son needed you both. As much as you needed him. What is protecting him from all these dangers, if you both weren’t there to love him either?
What is loving Satoru if you can’t be there for him either? If you can’t love him properly either? You took a deep breath. You’ve made up your mind. You will not deprive him of this. You would not be selfish with this. You would let him be selfish. You would let him live as he had never before.
You held him tighter, feeling the tension in his muscles, the vulnerability he rarely showed. “You’re right. We will see him, my love.” you affirmed, your voice steady. “And we’ll make sure he knows how much he’s loved.”
Satoru’s eyes met yours, a mixture of gratitude and sorrow. “Thank you, darling.” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “For understanding, for always being here. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“I’m sorry, Satoru,” you whispered to him tenderly as you kissed the small of his lips. “I should have been better with this.”
“Hey, don’t be sorry. You want to protect him too, I understand.” He tells you, a small smile on his lips. “Sukuna has familiarity with Hida, I know you’re wary about it.”
You nodded, the weight of your concerns evident in your eyes. “I just want to make sure he’s safe. That we’re all safe.”
Satoru’s smile softened, and he brushed a thumb over your cheek. “We’ll keep him safe. We’ll keep everyone safe. That’s a promise.”
You smiled softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from his forehead. “We’re in this together, Satoru. Always.”
He kissed your forehead, a lingering touch that conveyed all the words he couldn’t say. “Let’s go to Hida,” he said finally. “Let’s spend this time with him, make memories that will stay with him.”
You nodded, feeling a sense of resolve settle within you. “Yes, let’s do that. We’ll make sure he knows how much he means to us.”
All of Satoru’s training was canceled for the next few days.
Everyone understood why and said nothing about any of it.
Gojo Satoru couldn’t be happier to enjoy the long trip.
Because the next he’ll get off the train, he’ll see his dear son.
Tumblr media
ARRIVING IN HIDA WAS A REFRESHING THING. It was as though the looming war, the destruction, the suffering, did not exist. These precious days felt suspended in time, a haven of peace amidst the chaos.
Each sunrise brought with it a semblance of normalcy, a gentle reminder of the life you were fighting to protect. The air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers, and the sun cast a warm, golden glow over everything it touched.
As the days passed, you found moments of solace in the simple joys of being together. Satoru’s determination to be the best father he could be was palpable. He approached fatherhood with the same intensity and dedication he showed in his sorcery, and you admired the way he threw himself into the role with such fervor.
His playful nature shone brightly as he engaged your son in games, stories, and lessons. The bond between father and son grew stronger with each passing day, and it filled you with a sense of hope and reassurance.
Gojo Satoshi did not know much about the wider world beyond the confines of the carefully constructed life you and your family had built around him. But Satoru thought that was for the best. At his tender age, the complexities and dangers of the world could wait.
For now, Satoshi was wrapped in a cocoon of love and safety, his days filled with laughter and innocence. The little lordling of the Gojo clan had the privilege of being shielded from the harsh realities, existing in a world where he was cherished and adored.
“Young master Gojo, please do not run too much! You’ll slip!” His nurse-maid's voice rang out in a mix of concern and exasperation as she hurried after the energetic boy. Her normally composed demeanor was visibly frazzled as she struggled to keep pace with her lively charge. “Young master!”
“Heh, chase me! Chase me!” Satoshi's infectious giggle echoed through the gardens, his small feet moving quickly across the manicured lawn. His silvery hair, so much like his father's, shimmered in the sunlight, and his blue eyes sparkled with pure delight.
The scene was picturesque, the verdant greenery of the garden serving as a perfect backdrop to the boy's joy. Flowers bloomed in a riot of colors, and the gentle hum of insects added to the serene atmosphere.
Gojo Satoru watched from a distance, a soft smile playing on his lips. He saw so much of himself in Satoshi, from the boy’s boundless energy to the mischievous glint in his eyes. Yet, he also saw you in him—the kindness, the warmth, the innate ability to find joy in the simplest things.
Satoshi’s world was small but rich, filled with the love and attention of those who cared for him. He didn't know of the looming threats or the responsibilities that came with his lineage. Instead, his days were spent exploring the garden, listening to stories, and playing games. It was a simple life, but it was one that Satoru cherished deeply for his son.
The nurse-maid finally caught up to Satoshi, scooping him into her arms despite his playful wriggling. “Young master, you must be careful,” she chided gently, her tone softening as she adjusted his tousled hair. “We wouldn’t want you to get hurt. You are too important to be hurt.”
Satoshi pouted for a moment before breaking into a wide grin. “Okay, I’ll be careful,” he promised, though the twinkle in his eye suggested that he was already planning his next adventure.
“Our little lordling is too bright for the sun, huh?” Satoru approached, his presence immediately noticed by Satoshi, who reached out eagerly.
“Papa!” the boy exclaimed, his arms stretching towards his father.
With a warm chuckle, Satoru took Satoshi into his arms, lifting him high into the air. “Having fun, little lordling?” he asked, his voice filled with affection. “You were zooming out there, huh?”
“Yeah!” Satoshi replied enthusiastically. “We were playing chase, and I was winning!”
Satoru laughed, his heart swelling with love. “I’m sure you were. But remember to listen to your nurse-maid, okay? We don’t want any accidents.”
Satoshi nodded solemnly before breaking into giggles again. “I will, Papa.”
As Satoru held his son close, he couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of contentment. In these moments, the worries of the world faded away, leaving only the pure, unadulterated love between a father and his child. He knew that soon enough, Satoshi would grow older and the realities of their world would become unavoidable. But for now, he was determined to protect this innocence, to ensure that Satoshi's world remained filled with laughter and love for as long as possible.
“Let’s go find Mama,” Satoru said, carrying Satoshi back towards the house. “I’m sure she’s missed you.”
Satoshi's eyes lit up at the mention of you, and he nodded eagerly. “Yeah! Let’s go find Mama!”
The path back to the house was lined with blooming cherry blossoms, their petals gently drifting to the ground with each breeze. Satoru walked with an easy grace, his son nestled securely in his arms. The house, an elegant blend of traditional and modern architecture, stood as a sanctuary amid the chaos of the outside world.
As they approached, the soft hum of your voice reached their ears. You were in the kitchen, preparing a meal, the aroma of freshly cooked rice and simmering soup wafting through the air. Your presence was a constant source of comfort and strength, grounding Satoru in ways he often struggled to articulate.
“Mama!” Satoshi called out excitedly as they entered the kitchen.
You turned, a warm smile spreading across your face as you wiped your hands on a towel. “There’s my little troublemaker,” you said, reaching out to take Satoshi from Satoru’s arms. “Were you having fun in the garden?”
Satoshi nodded vigorously. “Yes, Mama! We played chase, and I was winning!”
You chuckled, kissing his forehead. “I’m sure you were. Did you give the nurse-maid a hard time?”
Satoshi giggled, hiding his face on your shoulder. “Maybe a little.”
Satoru watched the interaction with a tender expression. “He’s full of energy today,” he commented, stepping closer to place a hand on your back. “How are you feeling?”
You glanced up at him, your eyes filled with understanding. “Better, now that you two are here.” You looked back at Satoshi, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead. “Were you good for Papa?”
“Yes, Mama,” Satoshi replied earnestly. “Papa said we should always listen to nurse-maid.”
You smiled, giving Satoru an appreciative look. “That’s right. It’s important to be careful.”
Satoru's gaze softened as he watched you interact with Satoshi. Despite the looming threat of Sukuna, these moments of normalcy and love filled him with a fierce determination to protect his family at all costs.
“Dinner will be ready soon,” you said, turning back to the stove. “Why don’t you two wash up?”
Satoshi wriggled in your arms, eager to comply. “Come on, Papa!” he urged, pulling at Satoru’s hand.
“Alright, alright,” Satoru laughed, letting himself be led towards the bathroom. As he helped Satoshi wash his hands, he marveled at how such simple acts could bring so much joy.
After washing up, they returned to the kitchen where you had set the table. The meal was a humble but hearty spread, the kind that brought warmth and comfort to the soul. Satoru helped Satoshi into his chair before taking his own seat beside you.
As you all sat down to eat, Satoshi’s chatter filled the room, his stories animated and full of wonder. Satoru listened with rapt attention, his heart swelling with pride and love. He reached out to squeeze your hand under the table, a silent promise that he would do everything in his power to keep this happiness intact.
After dinner, you all settled in the living room. Satoshi, full and content, curled up next to you on the couch, his little head resting on your lap. Satoru sat beside you, his arm draped over your shoulders. The room was bathed in the soft glow of the evening light, casting a serene ambiance over the scene.
Satoru looked at you, his cerulean eyes filled with a mixture of love and determination. “We’re going to be okay,” he said softly, his voice steady. “No matter what happens, we’ll face it together.”
You nodded, leaning into his embrace. “Together,” you echoed, your hand resting gently on Satoshi’s back.
“Papa, let’s go!” Satoshi’s eyes sparkled with excitement, his little hand tugging at Satoru’s sleeve.
“Hm? Where, little lordling?” Satoru asked, his voice warm with affection.
“The koi pond!” Satoshi replied eagerly, his enthusiasm infectious.
Satoru looked at you, seeking your opinion. You nodded and offered him a warm smile. “Why not? It’s too nice today and it’s refreshing after a long play, don’t you think?”
“I suppose.” Your husband nodded to you before turning his attention back to your son, his grin widening. “Does my little lordling want to be carried by papa, or is he wanting to be a big boy and walk?”
Satoshi puffed out his chest with pride, his tiny hands clenched into determined fists. “I’ll walk, Papa! I’m a big boy!”
Satoru chuckled, patting Satoshi’s head affectionately. “That’s my boy. Lead the way, then.”
The three of you made your way to the koi pond, the garden bathed in the golden glow of the moonshine The air was filled with the gentle rustle of leaves and the soft chirping of owls settling down for the evening. It was a tranquil scene, a stark contrast to the turbulent world outside your home.
The tranquil scene was framed by vibrant greenery and the soft murmur of a nearby stream. They were watching the koi fish swim lazily in the pond, their colorful scales glinting in the moonlight. Your son was immediately chattering excitedly about something he’d learned, his voice a melodic blend of enthusiasm and curiosity. Satoru listened intently, a fond smile playing on his lips.
Satoshi skipped ahead, his laughter ringing out like a melody. You and Satoru followed at a leisurely pace, hand in hand, savoring the peaceful moment.
As you reached the koi pond, Satoshi knelt by the water's edge, his eyes wide with wonder as he watched the colorful fish swim gracefully. “Look, Papa! The fish are so pretty!”
Satoru crouched beside him, pointing out different koi. “See that one with the golden scales? That’s the king of the pond. And that one over there, with the red spots, is the queen.”
Satoshi’s eyes sparkled with delight as he listened intently to Satoru’s explanations. “Can we feed them, Papa?”
Satoru glanced at you, and you smiled, pulling out a small container of fish food from your pocket. “Here you go, Satoshi. Just a little bit at a time, okay?”
Satoshi nodded eagerly, carefully taking the container from you and sprinkling a small amount of food into the pond. The koi fish swarmed to the surface, their mouths opening and closing as they devoured the food. Satoshi giggled with delight, clapping his hands together.
“Papa, did you know that koi fish can live for over 200 years?” your son exclaimed, his eyes wide with wonder.
Satoru nodded, his gaze never leaving your son’s animated face. “Really? That’s amazing, buddy. Imagine all the stories they could tell.”
Your son giggled, the sound pure and joyful. “Maybe they know magic, too!”
Satoru’s smile widened, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “Maybe they do. Maybe they’re the guardians of secret underwater realms.”
You and Satoru stood back, watching your son with fond smiles. “He’s growing up so fast.” you murmured, leaning into Satoru’s side. "Almost four already. He's not our baby anymore, hm?"
“He still is, y'know?” Satoru hummed, his arm wrapping around your shoulders. “but you're right. Soon, he’s going to grow up strong. Our beautiful boy, he’s always going to be loved, too.”
“This is perfect,” you whispered, leaning your head against Satoru’s shoulder. The warmth of his body and the steady beat of his heart grounded you, reminding you of the strength you found in each other. “This is everything we could ever want.
“It is.” Satoru agreed, his voice low and filled with emotion. “Everything is more than I imagined.”
As the moon echoed below the horizon, casting a warm evening glow over the garden, the three of you stood by the koi pond, savoring the simple joys of family and the promise of a future filled with love and hope. All Gojo Satoru had to do was defeat Sukuna. All he had to do was get this over with. Then all will be over. He’ll get to be with you. He’ll get to be with Satoshi. You could be a family in peace.
Gojo Satoru wouldn’t be the strongest then.
He could just be himself, he could just be this.
He could just be your husband, Satoshi’s father.
He can be a human being for the first time in his life.
“Papa, can we stay here forever?” your son asked suddenly, his eyes wide with innocence. Both of you look at him. “You and mama, can we all be here together?”
Your son's innocent question hung in the air, a poignant reminder of the simplicity of childhood dreams. Satoru's gaze softened as he looked down at your son, his expression a mixture of tenderness and wistfulness. It was a question that held a weight far beyond its years, touching on the deepest desires of the heart.
For a moment, neither of you knew quite how to respond. The idea of staying in this tranquil moment forever, frozen in time with your family by your side, was undeniably tempting. Yet, reality loomed on the horizon, with its uncertainties and responsibilities.
Satoru exchanged a glance with you, silently communicating the depth of his emotions. There was a longing in his eyes, a yearning for a life free from the burdens of duty and danger. But beneath it all, there was a fierce determination to protect what mattered most—your family.
With a gentle smile, you reached out and ruffled your son's hair. "We'll always be together, Satoshi. No matter what happens, we'll find a way to stay together."
Satoru's hand found yours, his grip reassuring and firm. "That's right, little lordling. We'll always be here for you, no matter where life takes us."
Your son's eyes sparkled with happiness at your reassurance, his small hand reaching out to clasp both of yours. "Promise?"
You exchanged a knowing look with Satoru, his expression mirroring your own determination. "Promise," you both said in unison, sealing the vow with a tender smile
The soft glow of moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting gentle shadows across the room as you lay entwined with your husband and son. In the tranquil silence of the night, you could hear the steady rhythm of their breathing, a comforting reminder of the love that bound you together.
Wrapped in the warmth of each other's embrace, you felt a profound sense of contentment wash over you. It was in these quiet moments, surrounded by the ones you held most dear, that you found solace from the chaos of the outside world. Here, in the sanctuary of your shared love, you felt invincible, ready to face whatever challenges awaited you.
As you closed your eyes and drifted off to sleep, a serene smile graced your lips. In the arms of your beloved family, you knew that no matter what trials lay ahead, you would overcome them with unwavering strength and unwavering love.
“Satoru, my love.” you whispered, your hand entwined with his. “Thank you for being here. For being with us.”
He turned to you, his eyes filled with love. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be, darling. You and our son… you’re my everything.”
You smiled, feeling the warmth of his words seep into your heart. “And you’re ours. Always.”
The days turned into weeks, and the time for Satoru’s confrontation with Sukuna drew closer. But instead of being consumed by fear, you found strength in the love that surrounded you. The bond you shared with Satoru, the love you had for your son, and the support of your family gave you the courage to face whatever lay ahead.
On the last evening before Satoru was to leave with you, the three of you all gathered under the stars, the night sky a blanket of twinkling lights above you. Your son sat on Satoru’s lap, his head resting against his father’s chest.
“Papa, will you come back soon?” he asked, his voice small and filled with hope.
Satoru hugged him tightly, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I’ll do everything I can to come back to you, buddy. You and your mama are my entire world. Papa can’t live without any of you.”
Your son nodded, content with his father’s promise. “Me too, papa.”
“Hm?”
“I can’t live without you and mama.” Your son whispers to his father, wiping his father’s tears tenderly. Satoru blinked at his son’s act. “So papa has to do well and come back, with mama?”
In that tender moment, the depth of the bond between father and son was palpable. Satoru's heart swelled with emotion as he gazed into his son's earnest eyes, filled with a love so pure and unconditional it took his breath away. With a lump in his throat, he tightened his embrace, savoring the warmth of his son's small body pressed against his own.
His voice was thick with emotion as he replied, "I promise, buddy. I'll do everything in my power to come back to you and mama. You both mean the world to me, and I can't bear the thought of being without you."
Your son's response was equally heartfelt, his voice soft yet resolute. "I believe in you, papa. We'll be waiting for you, always."
You leaned against Satoru, drawing comfort from his presence. “I love you so much.”
He takes a breath. “I love you too. With everything in me.”
The night was quiet, filled with the gentle sounds of nature and the steady rhythm of your hearts beating in unison. As you closed your eyes, Satoru whispered a silent prayer, to any god listening above. If there ever was one. He prayed.
He wished that he could come home. He wished that he could be with you. He wished that he could watch Satoshi grow up. He wishes for that dream, for that hope, to come true.
That’s what all he could see as he lay there.
Shoko Ieiri looked him in the eyes as he struggled.
He smiles at her and then you, puddle full of tears.
“I love you.” He choked. “You and Satoshi, I love you.”
From faraway Hida, a boy sits by the koi pond and prays.
“I hope that my mama and papa return to good health soon.”

flashback epilogue
The hospital room was cast in a gentle, dim light, creating a serene atmosphere that belied the intensity of the recent events. Satoru sat on the edge of the bed, his broad shoulders relaxed yet filled with a quiet strength as he cradled his newborn son,  little Gojo Satoshi, against his chest.
With delicate care, he adjusted the soft blankets around little Satoshi, ensuring his newborn son was warm and comfortable. Despite the fatigue evident in his eyes, there was a palpable sense of wonder and tenderness in Satoru's touch as he looked down at the tiny bundle in his arms.
Meanwhile, you lay nearby, your form softened by the relief of finally finding respite after the long and arduous hours of labor. Your face, though etched with exhaustion, held a serene expression, a testament to the profound sense of fulfillment that accompanied the arrival of your precious child.
In that quiet moment, amidst the hushed sounds of the hospital room, the bond between parent and child blossomed, enveloping the room in an aura of warmth and love that seemed to transcend time itself. Satoru couldn’t be happier to carry his whole world in his arms.
Gazing down at the tiny bundle in his arms, Satoru felt a surge of overwhelming love wash over him. With a soft smile, he leaned in close to Satoshi's ear, whispering words of welcome and affection.
"Welcome to the world, my beautiful boy." Satoru murmured, his voice filled with warmth. "D’you know what your name is? What it means?”
The little boy cooed at his father’s words.
Satoru laughed softly, looking at him lovingly.
He was already so attentive towards his father.
“Mama and I decided together, y’know? Your name just had to be Satoshi.” Satoru takes a deep breath, smiling as the baby cooes again. “You’re satisfied, hm? But you’ll like the spelling more, little man.”
Satoru could only feel overwhelmed by what he felt.
He could only feel nothing but joy, nothing but elation.
The dawn was breaking, as it always had before this moment.
But now,  where his own dawn was in his hands, he just smiled.
“Papa chose the character for you. It means 'dawn'.” He whispered to him tenderly, almost like a little lullaby. “Because you are the beginning of a new chapter for our family. You bring light and hope into our lives, just like the dawn brings a new day."
There was a louder coo this time around.
He was more than happy, Satoru thinks.
And he couldn’t be happier than this moment.
This beautiful boy, his darling boy, his dawn.
Satoru pressed a gentle kiss to Satoshi's forehead, marveling at the precious life he held in his arms. "I love you so much, my son," he whispered, his heart overflowing with love and joy at the arrival of their little miracle. “My little dawn.”

AIB Boys with a sensitive S/O HCS
SFW - MDI - +18 - Banda is a red flag as alwyas - But overall them being sweet with you -
Tumblr media
♤ Chishiya
He...he does not know what to do.
Chishiya cant deal with his own feelings, so everytime he finds you crying or about to cry his brain stops.
He does not understand how you can be so sensitive to anything. A comedy movie? You cry. You read that a tree will soon be removed? You cry. Oh and dont let him start talking when you see a video of a cat or a dog. Even if they are fine you cry.
And he knows sometimes they are just tears because you get affected by things easily and not because you are truly sad. He gives himself a pat in the back by being able to difference these.
He will probably tell you upfront he does not understand why you are crying and even once you explain to him he will have a poker face. Will offer an akward hug.
♤ Arisu
Arisu its emotional but not like you. You suprass him by a lot.
The thing is, he is good at comforting you. He always has a positive comment to say about a situation, video, movie, whatever you are crying over.
Its like he turns up the lights for you and soon you are laughtning by his comments.
♤ Banda Sunato
He is an ass and will probably taunt you for being like this. His nickname for you its "Glass" literally. He calls you that when he sees you crying.
Sometimes he will take you in his arms and move you like a baby then call you "cry baby" or "dumb baby" because why are you crying over some abandoned dogs that got homes?
Please leave him
♤ Tatta
If you cry so does he.
Thats it. Tatta hates seeing you cry and hates himself for not being able to help you figure out why you are crying or how to stop it.
Also, If you send him a video of a baby cat when he is at work he has to go to the bathroom to cry about it while he texts you if you two can adopt it (you cant, the cat its from the other side of the world.
♤ Karube
Who hurt you? And then you show him the New drama you are watching and Karube is rolling his eyes at you.
He knows you cry easily over nothing, he is not suprised by now. He is more worried that anything and since he does not know how to help he will look for professional help in case you need it.
And if you dont then he is up to cuddle you while you see your shows.
♤ Aguni
This Man is between breaking someones neck and cuddle you, at least the first time it happens then he learns its a common thing.
Puts himself on quick call on your phone so you can call him whenever you are crying over something. He does not care what it is he wants you to feel safe and supported.
♤ Kuzuryu
Gets professional help because he sucks at emotions and at comforting others. You may make his heart ache by being like that but he still cant bring himself to help you since he does not know how to act.
♤ Niragi
Who does he needs to kill? (Joking....or not).
He is amuzed by you but also feels bad because you are too pure for this world and for him. So he tells you to let him know when you need him by your side if you are having a really hard day because of your emotions.

Cause I’m a jealous jealous jealous boyyyy
———————————————————————
{how the boy’s will act when jealous}
{all pre-borderlands au btw!}
Tw:possessive behavior, Yandere behavior, manipulation
[Characters;arisu, chishiya, Karube, Banda]
———————————————————————
Tumblr media
CHISHIYA:
• wouldn’t get jealous often but when he does it’s hard to tell
• he compares it to looking at window. He watches your interaction as if you were a lab rat. He wants to find one thing about the whole thing and focus on it.
•but don’t be fooled, that’s what he wants you to feel like.
•he does feel the green heavy monster weighing his chest, he just prefers to have you prove yourself to be his even if you aren’t dating
•I mean it’s a given you should know your his…it doesn’t need to be said?
•and if you flirt back he’s going to ignore you for weeks, last time he ignored you for a month straight.
•he hates it but..you made him. Why would you say that to a fucking pathetic parasite, when he was right there?
•”shuntaro why are you ignoring me ? I miss you…did I do something wrong?”
•he will just get up and walk away, as if you were nothing and then out of the blue he’ll start talking to you again.
•You don’t even ask why he ignored you , you’re scared he’ll do it again. You’re just so happy to have him back!
•loves knowing he has this control over you, he can do anything and just like a puppy you’ll come back and sense like nothings wrong.
•no one could control how you feel, how you act No one but him and he wouldn’t have it any other way
Tumblr media
ARISU;
•his feelings are to hard to hide
•he compares it to watching someone pour paint over his masterpiece.
•he watches one of your friends shamelessly flirt in front of him.
•he just glared at them as he was Lost in his mind
• “oh you two seem close”
•you go on a rant on you two met, but Arisu wasn’t listening.
•he only payed attention when you just so happened to mention their address.
•his mind started planning
• When they leave he clings to your side, huffing at the thought that they may have been doing the same as well
•he feels like a dog trying to ‘mark’ his scent into your hoodie, letting his cologne ingulf you. He wants to make you his in anyway possible
• “They interrupted our hang out.” “Do you like them more then me?” “This was supposed to be our time”
•he’s only saying how he feels, he didn’t mean to get you worried. But oh when your holding him and apologizing, does he smile.
• after an hour of hanging with you he goes back home.
• He types the persons name and address. Would you look at that they had a criminal record.
• he couldn’t have a criminal get close to you, what if they hurt you?
•Arisu Wouldn’t be able to live with himself if that happened.
•so he did what any good boyfriend would do, he went into their house when he knew they would be there.
•hiding the body wasn’t hard especially not when he’s done this a million times before.
•he comes to your apartment talking about a movie he wanted to watch. With you, he smiles at how you snuggle up to him.
• You look so cute like this so peaceful, you had no idea your new friend was gone.
•when you do find out, he was ready to comfort you. Like he always does, he can’t bare seeing you sad.
•he just wants your eyes on him! And god help anyone who manages to take them off of him.
Tumblr media
BANDA;
•wouldn’t call it jealousy, he calls it liking to keep what’s his , his.
•he compares this feeling to playing with his meal.
•he feels the need to prove himself
•usually he wouldn’t care but today was one of his days off, and he wanted to spend it with you. His future partner, he just can’t believe that they want to bother you two on such a day.
•sure you looked good in your outfit, you always did. But the pair of you, come by this cafe often so you talking like you were friends with this person confused him.
•did you know them? Did they know you? Cant you tell they’re flirting with you if you were such good friends? When did you meet them? Was it when he was working? He thought he had you on a leash you told him everything…are you gaining feelings for this insect? No no..he would have known by now.
•he hoped you were just oblivious instead, it made him feel more sane and in control. Yeah you were just unaware.
•” how about another date?”
•…..date? ….another?..he put the puzzles together, and was enraged, at you for ‘betraying his love’ at the person for not getting the hint. And at himself he swore himself this wouldn’t happen again. Not since LAST time.
•he will start to touch you, it’s almost impossible to tell he’s doing it to prove a point.
•he will start to touch your shoulders, letting the touches linger just a bit
•you don’t notice it but the person does
•if the small hints arent enough Banda is going to give them the nastiest glare ever
•well what he thinks is a glare, but in reality is just a blank look.
•works in his favor either way. They usually get weirded out, at this point.
•will ask you all about them , what’s their name, where they live, do they live alone etc
• “I just want to get to know your new friend.”
•the next day you come to him crying, the insect died randomly. You couldn’t believe just when you thought your love life was getting somewhere.
•he just wants to make sure your his…
• god help anyone who isn’t able to notice
Tumblr media
KARUBE;
•gets jealous often
• compares it to a small noise that won’t stop
• he doesn’t hide what he’s feeling from the person tho
• “what do you want from y/n? Huh? Don’t act like it’s just being friends I see the way you look at y/n!”
•the poor person would stay away from you due to orders from him
•you just assumed it was because they hated you, you cried and cried
•the person started talking to you in private, still wanting to peruse this relationship with you
•the thrill of being secretive made you feel all giddy inside, always sneaking out to see them at night.
•the two of you would joke around, go from place to place, flirt
•you didn’t know that karube saw it all
•he knew exactly what time you came out to see them and knew exactly where you two would meet up
•he just watched , never doing anything. He didn’t know what to do, he wanted to come out and punch them but he didn’t want to frighten you
•that was until one day when they kissed you, oh was he pissed seething when he watched it happen.
•he went home throwing everything upside down, his apartment looking like a child has been home by themselves for a day
•he calls you the day after, wanting to hang out with you knowing you and your friend don’t hang out on this day.
•he grabs you phone when you go to another room
•he finds your friends contact and quickly types “hey are you free today it’s totally fine if not! :>” he thought it was adorablhow the way you texted was so predictable. Made it easier for him to act like you
•”sure! same time?” he quickly sent a yes, deleting the messages he waits until night when he finally bid goodbye to you
•making his way to a small cafe, and he gets in an alleyway seeing your little friend there
•karube can’t help but smile at the thought of finally getting rid of the thorn
•the thorns face morph from a happy one to one that looks terrified. Karube cant enough of that face ,
•“I told ya to stay away but you didn’t listen did ya? Just had to get close to my y/n..Don’t blame me for what’s about to happen I warned you”
•he only really has one rule! Don’t touch what’s his

hey! could you maybe do some platonic yandere
chishiya and maybe arisu? thank you so much!
platonic yandere arisu & chishiya hcs
warnings: manipulation, mentions of violence, stalking?, mentions of sacrificing others (chishiya)
Tumblr media
arisu most definitely gives off overprotective big brother vibes
he may not be the strongest physically, but he would try his hardest to protect you no matter what
we’ve seen how he always protects usagi. imagine that x10
when the militants try messing around with you, arisu is quick to throw a punch even though it usually ends up with him being thrown to the ground
you scold him and tell him not to do things like that, but he just laughs and brushes it off
he’s willing to get hurt if it means he can protect you
you, arisu, and usagi are very close and are constantly seen together around the beach
arisu always walks you to your room at night to ensure you make it safely
what you don’t know is that he comes back to check on you multiple times a night to make sure you’re still sleeping soundly in your room
he can’t help it. with no locks on the doors and freaks like niragi running around, he can’t help that he’s worried about someone breaking in
usagi mentions his overbearing behavior towards you, but you just shake your head and laugh.
“Arisu is like a brother to me! I don’t really mind. It’s nice to know he’s looking out for me.”
after dismissing her concerns, usagi decides that maybe she’s just reading too much into it
arisu definitely cares about you, to concerning extents sometimes
he’s just glad that he’s able to get away with what he can while still managing to keep you safe
Tumblr media
chishiya is a little more difficult, and much more subtle
you probably wouldn’t even know that he cared about you unless you tried realllllyyy hard to notice
kuina probably tipped you off about it, and now you’re curious
you notice the way he stands slightly closer to you whenever the militants are around
or the way he always seems to be sending dirty looks to the people around you that get a little too close for comfort
nobody wants to be on chishiya’s bad side. they know he has no issue sacrificing others, and all he needs is a reason to justify himself
you and chishiya are always seen together
if, by any chance chishiya isn’t with you, kuina is
the three of you are close friends and keep your friend group tight
chishiya has, unfortunately, manipulated you into thinking that you’re only safe with him and kuina
he can’t risk you making other friends and leaving him
chishiya will use his executive powers to make sure you two always get paired together for games
when you ask him about it, he shrugs his shoulders and says ‘I can’t have a valuable pawn disappearing on me, can I?’ but you know better. he won’t leave the beach without you or kuina
during the games, chishiya is quick to pull you along with him away from others
if it’s a diamonds or hearts game, he orders you to let him take care of it and he’ll get the two of you out alive
he’s always true to his word. however, he doesn’t let you know the things he has to do to achieve the win
it’s better to keep it that way

Live For Me
In honor of Alice in borderland S2 coming out, I present u with an angst :D
Pairings: Ryohei Arisu x Male!reader
Genre; Heavy Angst
Summary; Arisu wins the hunt game, even if he didn't want to.
Warnings; Reader death, heavy angst, no happy ending
Tumblr media
Your back slid behind the wall you hid behind, your boyfriend continuing desperately to call out to you though the mic attached on the helmet. "M/N, where are you?! Please, come out!" He yelled. You could hear his screams from where you hid. Of course the game you do with your boyfriend, including your friends, had to be a one winner game.
It pained you to hear Arisu like this, it really did. "M/N?! M/N, where are you?! Shota?! Where are you guys?!" The four of you remained silent as Arisu continued to yell your guy's names. "Come out guys, please! We can figure something out!" His cries hurt your heart. As much as you wanted to come out and comfort your boyfriend, you couldn't. For his sake.
"I'm sorry, Arisu.." You finally spoke. "M/N?! M/N, where are you?! Please, don't do this to me!" You could feel the tears roll down Arisu's cheeks, even if you weren't with him.
2:00 minutes remain
The bot said over the intercom.
"Arisu.. you know I love you.. so much, right?" you spoke softly. "M/N.. I love you too, but please, come out!" He yelled desperately. "I want you to survive for us.. survive for me, okay?" Tears were rapidly falling out of your eyes, rolling down to your cheek and onto the floor.
You heard Arisu's footsteps coming closer and closer to where you were hidden. "M/N, come out! Please, come out!" He yelled out. He was now infront of where you hid.
30 seconds remain
"I'm behind you.." you spoke out to Arisu, but your eyes remained off of his. Arisu quickly turned, only to find you looking away from him. He ran towards you and tried to turn you into the wolf, but you quickly closed your eyes to prevent that from happening. "M/N, open your eyes! Please!" He was sobbing at this point.
"Arisu.. I love you, I love you so, so much." You spoke with your eyes closed. "But you need to survive for me, okay? I want you to live your life and continue to survive. Please Arisu, for me." You both had tears coming out your eyes. Arisu placed his hands on both of your shoulders, "M/N, please don't do this to me! Don't leave me, I can't live without you!"
"You have to, Arisu." You slightly opened your eyes, but not to look into his. You grabbed his chin and pulled him in for one last kiss. The kiss was passionate and long.
Game over. Player 1101232 has survived.
"I love you, Arisu."
Those were your last words before..
Boom
The collar around your neck exploded, blood splattering everywhere, including Arisu's face. Arisu couldn't believe it. He'd just watch his lover die in front of him. He stood in shock for a second, before letting out painful screams. He lost the person he loved the most. But now he had to survive for his lover. For M/N.
He wouldn't let him die in vain.

You Make Me Feel Safe ── Alice in Borderland
Tumblr media
FROM THE 'HELL ON EARTH' SERIES.
𓂃 ⋆ 𓈒 ‘hell on earth’ masterlist 𓍯 main masterlist
SUMMARY. [Takes place S2E1] After meeting the King of Spades, you and Arisu have a heartfelt conversation.
PAIRING. Arisu Ryohei x gn!teen!reader, Usagi Yuzuha x gn!teen!reader.
GENRE. fluff, hurt/comfort, platonic.
WORD COUNT. 1k
WARNINGS. gn r, teen r, possibly ooc aib characters, blood and death mentions, mentions shooting (king of spades), r wears a skort (basically a skirt with shorts underneath) and a bikini (with a t-shirt over top), bullet wound, it’s implied reader is shorter than arisu.
✐ posting something in this universe to hopefully get the ball rolling :)
Tumblr media
The King of Spades was ruthless. He shot like the blood he was spilling wasn’t valuable, and like the damage being done was nothing at all. Nothing could’ve prepared you for it.
Nothing but adrenaline had gotten you out of there. Adrenaline had rushed through you so fast that you didn’t notice the bullet hitting your left shoulder until the blood had rushed down to your wrist. You saw the look of horror on Usagi’s face, but the pain was still barely there. It didn’t help that in the car chase, while driving Ann had taken a sharp turn, resulting in your arm slamming into the door. From that moment, the pain began to hit you.
Now, you stood in a run down convenience store, listening to Arisu and Usagi’s adorable flirting. You did however, feel like you were ruining the moment by being there, even if you were still searching through the aisles—not that there was much to find. You had already used a piece of fabric from the bottom of some random shirt to wrap around your bullet wound, and you’d kept the rest of the shirt in case you needed it as well. The wrap didn’t do a whole lot, though. It was already bleeding through the thin material fast.
You saw Arisu begin to excitedly talk about going back home. To the real world. He began to reminisce, and then his eyes grew sad. Realizing what he had lost, you assumed. The sorrow seemed to spread, as Usagi began to talk about how going back home may not be something she wanted as badly as everyone else. You felt bad for listening in, so you walked further away in the store. You were sure to avoid stepping on anything to cause too much noise.
Going back to your world was something you wanted badly, but Usagi’s words almost made you spiral. This world, the one you were in right now, it was cruel. It was painful. But who’s to say that the other wasn’t bad either? You didn’t come from a rich family. You weren’t dirt poor, but you wouldn’t say you were well off either. The kids at your school liked picking on you because you were so timid. Your father was kind, and you loved him, but he was so busy. Your mother, the parent home most often, was neglecting. You didn’t know what it was that made her like this, but you knew she hadn’t always been this way.
The borderlands were surely worse than the real world, but the more you thought about it, the more you realized you just hated both. You were now conflicted.
You heard footsteps approaching you, as well as a pair getting further—Usagi was preparing to leave. You could feel the tension.
Arisu stopped beside you, on your left. With a sigh, he looked down at you, then down at your wounded shoulder, and his face pinched together. By the time Arisu and Usagi had finished their conversation, the blood had seeped through the fabric, and began to drip down your arm. Believe it or not, the bleeding was slowing down.
“You okay?” Arisu asked. You gave him a blank stare and he winced. “Yeah, stupid question, I know. Sorry.”
You laughed a little.
“I’m… managing.” You replied. In your hands, you held a pack of snacks you hoped were good. You didn’t realize how small you looked at the moment. You were mirroring the image of a kid in the candy store, a pack of candy held tightly in your fingers, innocent eyes beaming up. The only difference was you were covered in dirt and grime, stained with blood, fresh and old, that splattered across your face and body. Your beach outfit was torn—a small rip up your bathing suit bottoms (which was designed as a skort) and a tear in the back of the grey T-Shirt you wore over your bikini top. You weren’t that young, though. You were almost an adult. You were young enough to worry about, though.
"You feel dizzy? At all?"
"A little, but I'm totally fine otherwise."
Arisu sighed again, and silently nodded to the exit of the store as he began you lead you out. Usagi fell into step with you both, walking a few feet ahead. You saw her look back at your shoulder briefly, before she looked back ahead.
It was now nighttime, and as the light breeze hit you, sending a chill down your spine, you began to feel grateful. For the people beside you and the people you never quite got the chance to know. You looked up at Arisu, your own eyes shining under the moonlight, and he looked back at you. You smiled and he smiled back. Somehow, there was a dictionary of words in that glance, but you still felt the need to voice your words aloud.
"Thank you, Arisu." You looked back down to your feet. "Just, y'know, for everything you've done for us, and for me. I think I'd be dead without all of you."
Arisu was silent for a moment or two. Going over the words in his head, perhaps. "You're giving me too much credit, I think." He eventually replied, sheepishly.
"No," you looked up at him briefly, "I mean it. I'm... glad we met at that tag game. I hardly knew what I was doing at the time, and I'm sure you didn't know much either. I'm glad we met though." You said, softly and kind of under your breath. You meant every word you said, but heartfelt talks sort of made you feel awkward or nervous. You need to tell him this though.
Arisu looked at you again, and he laughed lightly as if he was embarrassed.
"You..." you continued, "you make me feel safe, Arisu."
Those words weren't meant to be taken lightly, and you could tell Arisu thought so too with the way he paused his walking for a fraction of a moment. "You mean it?"
"Of course I do."
Arisu nodded his head, eyes going all soft in a way that made you feel cared for. "I'm glad you feel safe with me."
You were okay with the conversation ending there—and it did, as Tatta and Kuina pulled up in the car they had chosen. Maybe not the best vehicle choice, though. An open roof wasn't exactly the best option right now.

I missed you
Niragi x fem reader
Tumblr media
summary: Y/n and niragi finally see each other again after her brother chishiya burnt him at the beach.
fluff and some soft niragi
Me Kuina Arisu and Usagi arrived at the king of clubs game when Kuina brought up Chishiya.
“Do you guys think he will be okay? Chishiya I mean”
“I think he’ll be okay, he’s a smart guy” Arisu stated comforting her. I wont lie I was worried about him but after what he did at the beach I still refuse to talk to him.
Flashback
“Chishiya!” I yelled stomping over to him angry as ever.
“What’s wrong?”
“How could you do that to him” i yelled with tears running down my face after finding out he burnt Niragi at the top of the beach.
“Do what to who?” ofc course hes acting confused.
“To Niragi”
“y/n I was doing it for your safety, he’s not a good person. He’s dangerous.”
“Are you kidding me right now? He was my boyfriend he was one of the only people that made me happy in this fucked in world!” I hit his chest crying because i just lost my boyfriend… so i thought
End of flashback
After all that, I refuse to talk to him at all. Sure I feel bad for it but he hurt me really bad, I do hope he’s okay though.
“So we finally have 5 players” someone from behind us said, we all turned around and saw Niragi standing there.
“You mean, your alive?” Arisu said looking at us and then back to him. Niragi tilted him head making a slight hum as confirmation.
“No, there’s no way i’ll be on a team with that jerk, he’ll never cooperate with us!” Kuina yelled at Usagi me and Arisu.
“My only goal is to enjoy these games, so if you don’t want to play with me then just fuck off”
“Who cares what his goal is, we either play this game and survive or we die to our visas or the king of spades.” usagi said to all of us while grabbing a wristband putting it on. Arisu did the same along with me.
“Ah fine” Kuina rolled her eyes clearly not wanting to play with niragi. The sound of the door opening startled us, but we walked in the door niragi following us.
“Didn’t know someone could live after being set on fire and after falling off a building.” I said my eyes tearing up seeing his beautiful skin all scared and him wrapped from his legs to his torso.
“Why are you crying? I’m still here, there’s no need” Niragi said cupping my face in his hands wiping my tears that had just fallen from my eye.
I pulled him into a soft hug being careful not to hurt him at all.
“I’m not made of glass y/n, you can hug me properly.” He pulled me into a tight hug kissing the top of my head mumbled something that i cant quite make out.
“I’ve missed you so much Niragi” i whispered into his chest.
“I missed you to, i love you so much y/n” he said taking my face into his hands again and pulling me into a passionate kiss. I kissed him back and once we pulled away he linked our fingers together and going up to the others to play the game.

Heyo! I was wondering if you could make a gn reader chishiya fic based on the aib characters saying sorry. I really liked what you made the argument about and can totally see it happening so pretty please if you are taking requests could you do this.
Tumblr media
doctor chishiya >>>
pairing: chishiya x gn!reader (they/them pronouns) genre: hurt comfort word count: 1.7k
warnings: ooc chishiya, blood, stitches, are stitches considered gore?, canon typical violence, canon divergent game (i have run out of games to write about), arguments, kuina threatens to punch chishiya (kuina best girl !!), reader is called beautiful (if that needs a warning ??) but boys are beautiful too, this kinda turned into a journal entry at the end lmao
a/n: thank you for requesting !! i'm glad you liked the post about them apologizing. i didn't want to leave this as angst so it has a happy ending and i changed a few things so that it wasn't exactly the same. i hope you like it :))
the post they're talking about -> chishiya, arisu, and kuina apologizing after an argument
requests open !! read my rules first
Tumblr media
“y/n!” you can hear chishiya yelling at you as you rush to push the man out of the way, taking the blow for him instead. you hit the ground hard. your shoulder aches, both from the stinging cut and the impact.
the man you saved is quick to scramble to his feet, kicking your attacker away from you before grabbing your arm and pulling you to safety. “thank you,” he pants. chishiya presses a hand against your back. blood seeps through your shirt. you nod at the man, trying to catch your own breath.
the man rushes off in a different direction afterwards. you watch him leave, hiding further into the shadows to avoid detection. “shit,” chishiya curses. “this is deep. we need to get out of here. you need stitches.”
you nod, forcing yourself to stand up. you reach back, replacing his hand with your own. “i’ll be fine. go win the game.” chishiya glances between you and the tagger before you gently push him away. “go!”
you’re not sure how long you stand in the shadows. the brick feels uncomfortable against your back as you hold your breath, waiting for the tagger to pass by the alley you’re hiding in. thankfully, they don’t notice you before your phone chimes, ending your torment with a simple “game clear. congratulations.”
Tumblr media
the drive back to the beach feels awkward. chishiya keeps a close eye on your shoulder. you know he needs to keep pressure on it, but you can almost feel the irritation radiating off of him.
he remains silent as you arrive at the beach, picking you up and carrying you into the basement. he sets you on the metal table, searching through various different cabinets for bandages, gauze, and supplies for stitches. the metal is cold against your skin. it feels nice against the warm blood still flowing from your wound.
you don’t say anything about the slight tremble in chishiya’s hands as he presses the bandages against the cut. his stitches are quick and efficient - almost robotic in his movements. worry builds in your stomach.
“we need to talk about this.” it sounds more like a question than a statement. like you’re asking if he’s ready to interact with you when he’s still so obviously angry, though you still aren’t sure exactly why.
“after i finish this.” his words do little to console you. so, you simply nod, trying to relax your body as he continues tending to your wounds.
“okay.”
Tumblr media
the air feels tense around you as you follow chishiya back to your shared room. he closes the door after you, silently leaning back against the wall. you awkwardly sit across from him on your bed, waiting for him to make the first move. chishiya crosses his arms over his chest, jaw clenched. you avoid eye contact, fidgeting with your hands.
“that was stupid.” he finally says.
“saving someone’s life is stupid to you?”
“he was going to die anyways and you almost got yourself killed with him.”
“i couldn’t just leave him there! he was begging for help!”
“he could’ve gotten it from someone else!” his voice raises as yours does. chishiya sighs, running a hand through his hair. “what about these people makes them so worth saving?”
“what about them makes them not worth saving? they’re people, chishiya, isn’t that enough of a reason?”
“not when it puts you in danger! it was reckless!”
“what else was i supposed to do?”
“why can’t you admit you were wrong for once?” his words sting, but his demeanor is what makes you flinch. chishiya nearly glares at you from across the room. “have you ever considered that i know what’s best? you made a stupid decision, get over it!” you can see the immediate regret spread across his face. he almost shrinks back away from you. you bite your tongue, willing the tears building in your eyes not to fall. “y/n…”
his words trail off when you stand up. “i need to be alone for a while. come find me when you’re ready to talk to me like an adult.”
you furiously wipe the tears away from your cheeks as you rush out of the room.
Tumblr media
“y/n?” kuina furrows her eyebrows, opening the door to her room to let you inside. “what’s wrong?”
you’re sure she can see the dried tears on your face. “i got in a fight with chishiya.”
“oh, honey,” she wraps her arms around you, pulling you into a hug. you cling to her as she rubs a hand against your back. she pulls away after a few minutes, wiping another few stray tears you hadn’t realized had fallen. “do you want to talk about it?”
“not really. i just… i got hurt helping someone and he yelled at me because it was reckless.”
“are you okay?”
you nod. “i’m fine. just a little sad, i guess.”
kuina reaches over to grab your hand. it’s a welcome feeling of affection that breaks against the swirling thoughts in your head. “whatever happens, i’ll always be here for you, okay? you can tell me anything.”
this time the tears that build in your eyes are ones of thankfulness. trust in the borderland is hard to come by, but when kuina squeezes your hand with a small smile and starts telling you about new gossip she heard around the beach, you know that you’ve found an ally. a friend. “thank you.”
Tumblr media
“kuina,” chishiya calls. he walks over to where she’s sitting, awkwardly stuffing his hands deeper into his pockets. “do you know where y/n is?”
she briefly glances up at him, taking the wooden cigarette out of her mouth. “they’re on the roof.”
“thanks.”
“hey, chishiya,” she stands up from the beach chair, stepping closer. “if y/n ever shows up at my door crying because of you ever again, i’ll punch you.”
he steps back a little, nodding. “it won’t happen again.”
“good. now, go talk to them. they’ve been waiting for you.”
chishiya doesn’t wait any longer, quickly making his way back into the hotel to the roof. true to kuina’s word, you sit at the edge of the building, staring out at the coastline. the sun has just barely begun to set, casting a golden glow on everything. “y/n?” you turn to look at him over your shoulder, gesturing for him to sit beside you. chishiya obeys, dangling his legs over the edge of the building. you don’t move away when his knee brushes against yours.
you sit in silence for a few minutes, enjoying the sunset. finally, he speaks. “i’m sorry.” you glance over at him, waiting for him to continue. “i shouldn’t have yelled at you. i was scared because you got hurt and i blamed you because it happened while you were trying to help someone.”
“i’m sorry too.” you pull your knees up to your chest, resting your hand in the space between you and chishiya. “i know it was reckless and i understand why you were upset.”
chishiya hesitantly reaches over, taking your hand into his. you reciprocate by intertwining your fingers, storking your thumb against his skin. “none of what happened was your fault. i’m sorry i yelled at you. you didn’t deserve that.”
“i forgive you.” you turn to face him, bringing your right hand up to cup his cheek. you move it behind his head to the nape of his neck, slowly pulling him in to press your lips against his. chishiya takes your cue to lean in, pressing another peck against your lips when you pull away.
he smiles a little when you pull away, coaxing you to lean against his chest. the sun glistens against the water, hues of pink and purple painting the sky. chishiya tucks his chin over your head.
“do you know why i helped him?” your voice is quiet when you speak again. it’s getting darker now. the temperature drops as the sun disappears further behind the coastline.
“no.” chishiya murmurs. he wraps an arm around your waist, rubbing your side.
“i know it’s hard for you to open up to people, and i’m grateful everyday that you let me in. but it’s hard to survive out here. you survive by shutting everyone out. you built your walls up so high that it takes years to scale them, and even then, you didn’t fully let your guard down for months.” you pause, taking a breath. “i survive out here by relying on my humanity. i have to believe that people are good, because if they aren’t, then nothing else matters. none of the good deeds or random acts of kindness or small moments that remind me that love is everywhere around us matter. i don’t want to live believing that. so, i help people. i put myself in danger for strangers because i rely on my humanity. if i lose my humanity, then i lose everything.”
silence falls over you once again. chishiya pulls you even closer so you’re fully sitting in his lap, wrapping his arms around you. he leans over your shoulder as the sun fully disappears behind the horizon. the stars are just beginning to appear above you. “i think there’s good in humanity too.” he finally murmurs. “i let you in because i know you’re good. and you’ve done nothing but show me that i was right about you.” he leans down to press a kiss against your shoulder. “you’re strong,” another kiss - this time against your neck. “and loyal,“ his lips brush against the underside of your jawline. “and beautiful,” this time they’re against your cheek. “and good. you’re a good person. one i don’t deserve. i’m thankful for everyday you’re with me.”
you take the initiative this time, pulling him into a sweet kiss. chishiya pulls you back in again. you sit on the roof together, kissing underneath the stars until your lungs are begging for air and the air chills your bones. you rest your forehead against his when you pull away, letting yourself drown in the overwhelming love you feel. “i’ll take you home,” chishiya whispers. “i promise.”

Your arms were tightly wrapped around Chishiya’s body as tears threatened to spill from your eyes. You were so so so glad that he was alive, safe.
You felt long, slender arms travel to your back as well, your lips curved into a smile.
‘You’re alive,’ you mumbled, ‘you’re alive.’ You pulled away from him to confirm that it was really Chishiya in-front of you, it was.
It took you a good few moments to get your senses back to yourself as the gravity of the situation hit you. If Chishiya was alive then that meant….
‘And The King…?’ you asked. Chishiya's face immediately fell, his gaze avoided yours, he seemed rather upset. 'Defeated,' he said, at last.
Your face immediately brightened up, 'that's great, isn't it? Only one more game left.' You couldn't wait to finally leave this place.
However, there was a small part of you that enjoyed the thrill and dangers of The Borderlands; you enjoyed being a part of life-and-death games and not knowing the outcome of them. It was like betting on your own life - the adrenaline released from such experiences could not be recreated in the real world.
He nodded, 'the remaining players are gathering up at the center of Shibuya for the final game.'
'Let's go then,' you said as you tried to stand up but were unsuccessful due to Chishiya forcing you to sit. 'You're in no condition to walk,' he stated.
'Shut it, I can handle myself,' you immediately responded back. You and Chishiya argued back and forth — it was mostly you that kept reassuring him of your physical state while all he did was give counterarguments to your previous statements.
Eventually, he agreed. Though, he was very reluctant but he trusted you.
The walk from your hideout to Shibuya was a painful one, to say the least. Chishiya had his arm around you for support even though you were using a cane.
The walk was silent, not a single word was exchanged between you two except for Chishiya asking you if you were okay every now and then.
That was, until, you both came across Arisu, who had a rifle and dirt covered across his body — it appeared that he may have come back from a game.
Chishiya tried to engage him into conversation but their exchanges were cut short by the interruption of Niragi shooting Chishiya in the shoulder.
Niragi looked absolutely terrifying now. sure, during his time at The Beach, he was intimidating due to the authority that was given to him but now? With the burns and scars that decorated his entire body, he looked horrifying. The scars truly reflected his inner demeanour.
A gun was thrown towards Chishiya from Niragi who encouraged him to join him in a game of his own. Arisu was not interested and tried to peacefully talk Niragi out of it while Chishiya filled Niragi's desire for a shoot-out.
The white-haired man had instructed you to hide behind a few cars and you did so even though you were against his idea of playing with Niragi.
The shoot-out ended rather quickly with Arisu terribly injuring Niragi by shooting him in the abdomen. However, out of everyone, Chishiya was the one to be the most injured with two bullet wounds across his body - one on his shoulder and the other near his heart.
Arisu and Usagi were hesitant to leave Chishiya bleeding out but you reassured them that you'd take care of him.
You rushed over to Chishiya and began to help him as much as you could while calling him all sorts of name and scolding him for acting so irrationally.
He smiled slightly as he listened to you to complain.
With a sigh, you leaned on the car behind you as you sat beside an injured Chishiya. You had done as much fixing as you could to his wounds; you both were now injured and fatigued.
'Why'd you do it?' you asked slowly, turning towards him. 'Do what?' he asked in-turn. 'The bullet, why'd you take the bullet for me?' you spoke, shuddering at the memory of Niragi attempting to shoot you.
'I don't know,' he simply replied, 'but atleast now, we're even.' 'You scared me so much,' you sighed.
'You were worried for me?'
'I guess.'
He smiled, a genuine smile appeared on his face - it was a rather rare sight and you the cause of it.
Your hands had subconsiousely found their way onto his hands. His hands were getting colder and colder by the minute. You rubbed your thumb on them.
'Chishiya...' you called out his name, turning to look at the man beside you but you got no reaction from him.
Your eyes widened in panic as the realisation dawned upon you. Your lips were quivering and your entire body was trembling. Hot tears were spilling from your eyes which couldn't believe what they were seeing.
Your hands found Chishiya's left hand as you checked his pulse but you felt nothing. Absolutely nothing. There was no response. Confirming that he was dead.
Tears spilled from your eyes as your hands attempted to wipe off every single one of them but were failing to do. You couldn't believe it. You couldn't believe it all that your bestfriend was dead.
The sounds of an ECG trace machine woke you up with a start. You had a massive headache and there was a sharp pain coming from one of your legs.
You tried to stood upright on the bed you were laying in but failed to do so due to the numerous wires that were connected across your body. Still, you observed your surroundings: there was a large flourescenat light that was placed at the top of the ceiling and the walls were white - too white for your liking.
You cursed, apparently you were in a hospital for a leg injury ( and a few other minor ones ) without any recollection of what had caused them.
The sounds of the knocking on your door jumped you out of your thoughts, you yelled "come in" to whoever was knocking. It was your sister.
'How're you holding up?' she asked with a smile as she entered your hospital room. You ignored her question, 'what happened?' 'You don't remember? There was meteor that flew into Tokyo and you were caught in the middle of it,' she bit her lip, 'did anyone tell you that...?'
Your looked at her in confusion at her last question, 'tell me what?' 'About Chishiya…’ she trailed off.
Right. You completely forgot that he was with you, going to the cafe, at the time of the attack. Suddenly, your mind was swarmed with terrifying thoughts of Chishiya’s condition.
‘The funeral service is tomorrow, I’m really sorry,’ she spoke.
As her words penetrated your ears, your body began to tremble and shake uncontrollably. You managed to muster out some words in response to her announcement: ‘you’re kidding right? Chishiya isn’t — he can’t be.’
Your face was now covered with wet tear stains and you felt such uncontrollable sadness. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you struggled to breathe — not enough oxygen was entering your lungs, they felt as though they were drowning in water.
Your mind was filled with haphazard thoughts, trying to convince you that maybe, just maybe he wasn’t gone.
You but your lip but you could only feel the metallic taste of blood in your mouth; you tried to stop the tears but your attempts were futile.
Your mind was trying come up with different possibilities or reasons that would prove that he wasn’t gone. You tried and tried but you couldn’t.
No matter how hard you tried to deny it, it was true.
Your best friend had been taken away from you and you couldn’t save him, not like how he saved you.
