Ok so I'm rewatching Alice In Borderland right now and I'm on the witch hunt episode right (season 1 episode 8) and Arisu is giving his big speech on how Aguni isn't the witch and how he killed Hatter and how heart games work and at arounf 18:15 he says the heart games are made to make everyone look like fools and how they didn't have to kill everyone and whilst he says this it flashes back to his seven of hearts game and it got me wondering was there a way Arisu could have won without anyone dying? or am i just reading way to into this?

I loved Alice in Borderland. One thing I found especially amusing about this show was how the characters just refused to die and stay dead (except Tatta, poor guy). Like when they were fighting the King of Spades, genuinely thought they were dead but most of them said “not today”and I can respect that. Special shoutout to Aguni and Niragi. Listen, fuck canon Niragi, that guy sucks, but the way he refuses to die even after being burned to crisp, shot, whatever else happened to him, is kind of inspiring and he scares me. In some ways he reminds me of Gwi-Nam(?) from All of Us Are Dead (I love this show too but I can’t for the life of me remember names from this show, the guy super zombie, the bully) in that both of them are just getting destroyed throughout their respective shows but just continue on, and it’s kind of terrifying. Also Aguni just seemingly dying and then returning, only to nearly die again? The fact that this man is still alive is actually amazing but I don’t think he’d agree. 

Also, shout out to Chishiya for facing near death and just being mildly inconvenienced/bored.

I am weak for middle-aged men, especially if they’re gentle giants or villains. Big time villain brain-rot over here, especially if Park Hae-soo is playing them 😭😭😭. I don’t only like the characters I’ve written for from those fandoms, but they’re the ones who live in my head rent-free until I feel compelled to scribble something down about them.

I think a lot about how Aguni and Takeru changed so much in the game. From the beginning, you think that they're enemies. It's the way the series sets it up. But the series hits you with a shocking revelation. Takeru had already faced a kind of "betrayal" before, and Aguni didn't want Takeru to lose himself. But Aguni didn't stop Takeru in time, and worse of all, he was cursed with the eyes of someone who had killed their friend.

'So, you're also part of the board of executives?'

'You know that already.'

'Yes, but my mother always said it's important for men to have their fair share of the conversation and I have been talking for the last fifteen minutes.'

Aguni wasn't sure how to feel about that comment, wasn't sure he liked the spark of mischief appearing on your big eyes or the way one corner of your lips curved into a half smile, as if you knew a joke you were not sharing. He was sure he enjoyed your presence, however.

You had become close. Or closer, at least, looking for each other in crowds, sharing a drink after coming from a game. You, with a sly smile every time you saw him walking in your direction. You, searching for him but pretending, when you finally found him, that your encounter had been nothing but a matter of chance.

You were becoming more and more popular within The Beach, making friends here and there, helping those who needed it, defending the weak from the strong - rumor was that nobody died in games with you, because you refused to leave anyone behind.

Aguni wouldn't know, as you had not shared any more games together, but he counted himself among those fascinated by you.

'How many days do you have left in your visa?'

'One. I have to go play tomorrow.' You responded, your smile suddenly strained, neck muscles standing out from the tension. Nobody would have noticed, but he was observing intently.

'Why do you always do that? Wait until you've ran out of days?'

'I would be angry if I died while I still had, for example, three days left to live.'

He listened, knowing you were not done, because you were frowning and had your lips parted. As you did when you were searching for the right words to express yourself.

'Also, it's not as easy for me as it is for you. We can't just shoot everyone. They don't allow the rest of us to have guns. It's scary, and nerve-racking.' You swallowed, hard.

This was the most vulnerable Aguni had ever seen you.

'It doesn't seem like that. You always look so calm and collected, trying to talk to the other players and make things easier for them.'

'I'm good at pretending. What can I say? I should have been an actress or something of the sort.'

You were already waiting by the car that would take you to the game arena, engaged in conversation with a young man and an older woman, only your fidgeting with the sleeve of your jacket revealing how terrified you actually were.

Aguni walked towards you, not wanting to interrupt. But, there was nothing he could do about the expression of fear suddenly appearing in your new friends' faces.

You turned, most likely looking for a reason to explain their sudden mood change. You looked surprised, and puzzled, when you saw him. 'What are you doing here?'

'I hoped to make things, what was it…? Less scary. Less nerve-racking.'

The smile you directed at him made him glad he had decided to join your game. He would join every single one of them, from now on, if only he could see it again.

'If you scare the others I'll kill you.' You said nevertheless, pointing an accusatory finger at him.

'There's not much I can do…' He lifted both arms, palms directed towards you, a gesture indicating his innocence. He was also smiling.

'Ah, if they only knew…' You reached up, touching his face, caressing his cheek with your thumb.

You went back to talk with the others, a sweet tingling sensation lingering on Aguni's skin.

You had been crying so long Aguni feared for your sanity.

He was unsure whether you were sad, or angry, or a concoction of both. You had blood smeared all over your face, your clothes, and an ugly-looking bruise was already forming on your jaw.

'I didn't want anyone to die.' You wept, repeating the same sentence for the hundredth time.

You two, as well as Niragi and Last Boss, had been the only survivors.

You had participated in the Six of Spades. It was a game that took place in a zoo, in which the players were preyed on by different animals and had to kill all the beasts in order to win.

Apparently, you had not been expecting such a massacre. Such a bloodbath.

'It's easy, right? We hide while you guys shoot at them.' You had said, still with that damned smile that made Aguni felt a certain type of way.

It had gotten out of hand very quickly, up to the point where sacrifices had to be made in order to distract the animals, so that the three militants could finish them.

'I'm sorry.' Aguni said as he drived, looking at you.

'For what?' You snorted, wiping both snot and blood from your nose with the back of your hand. 'It was not just those two who killed them. You did too.'

Your words were cold as ice. Cold as death. And you spat them through gritted teeth.

You had screamed, gagged, choked vomit. You had cried, ranted, and beat him with your fists.

Aguni didn't know what to say.

You maybe knew, but did not share your thoughts.

You simply got out of the car when you arrived at The Beach, not looking back.

Aguni couldn't help but watch you from a distance.

It had been a couple of days since you had played the game together, and you had not spoken to him since. You had not even looked in his direction.

It was painful, opening the door to his room and not finding you there, waiting for him, just as he had been the morning you became friends. With your crossed arms and your mischievous grin.

Now, you were by the pool with your friends, Kuina and Chishiya, laughing about something the woman with dreadlocks had said, head back, shoulders shaking. And Aguni missed when you would laugh that way with him, realizing just now how lonely his life was, because other than you, he only had Takeru.

And Takeru was slowly descending into madness. His best friend, the person he trusted more than anyone in the world, was not someone he could rely on anymore.

'You know, I could give you a photo of myself to stare at. It's less eerie.'

Your voice interrupted his thoughts, and his dark eyes focused on you, who had crept up to him. Just as you had ingrained yourself in his life, without him even noticing.

'I thought you didn't want to speak to me.'

'I wasn't going to, but then I found myself missing you.'

You signaled for him to move, sitting beside him, legs touching each other. You held his arm, casually.

'I'm sorry about what happened…'

You dismissed his words with a wave of your free hand. 'It's fine. I understand. I didn't react… I have always had a bad temper.'

'Wouldn't have said it.' Aguni was beaming against his will.

'Oh yes. I think you should find yourself a more agreeable woman.'

Were you implying you were his woman?

'Do you think so?'

'Definitely. Some pretty little thing, plain as a pikestaff, that doesn't spit blood to your face when you are trying to save her life.'

His smile grew wider, and he turned to look at you. Bruises and everything, you were beautiful.

'I think I'm going to stick with you.'

'Are you sure? I came here to say the most heartfelt, the most bittersweet of goodbyes and you're telling me you still want me around?'

'I do.'

'Well…' Your crooked smile returned. 'Guess I'll have to stay, then.'
