I’m still on a bit of a break LOLLLLLL. Hope you’re all doing okay. I’m 5 stages of raging but mostly I’m disappointed that I ignored my naturally cynical inclinations JUST THIS ONCE and gave into hope and, honestly, if Rian had been able to do this, I think this story would have gone way. fucking. differently. If you enjoyed TRoS, I’m happy for you, but it was not for me.

Thank god the fandom has always been the best part of this all anyway and, hey, eat shit, haters, Reylo is fucking canon. And beyond that, Ben Solo belongs to us all now and we’re going to keep him and show him the respect and happy endings he deserves.

And I’ve started a new piece that’s kind of out there, but thinking about canonverse Ben Solo kind of breaks my heart right now, so out there is the only way I’m going to be able to cope atm.

When Rey meets Ben for the first time on Cantonica, she is both repelled and drawn to him. Beautiful, decadent, and everything she is not, Ben Solo is the galaxy's golden boy, a playboy prince that is as famous for his sexual exploits as he is for being the son of Senator Leia Organa and General Han Solo. Rey hates what he stands for, and the life he represents, but she can't deny that there's something that runs between them, even though she knows better than to catch feelings for an Aristo, especially one as infamous as Ben Solo.

As their lives continually converge and tangle, Rey and Ben find themselves on a path that will reveal the dark undercurrent that's working to solidify its power in the galaxy. And as their attraction increases and their relationship grows more complicated, Rey will discover whether she's in league with an angel... or the devil himself.

Harry has proven to be a real snob. His relationship with Cressida suffered bevause he had no consideration for the fact that she didn‘t earn a lot of money and then he went on to date and eventually marry a multi millionaire.. He couldn‘t handle having a girlfriend that wasn‘t rich and could keep up with his lifestyle, his priorities are so wrong.

Cressida Bonas, member of the British Aristocracy apparently is not rich, go figure! Cressida Bonas not good enough and so Harry dumped her because she was not rich enough, Cressida, Aristo, Cressida member of one of the elite British families. 

Also ignoring that Cressida and Harry were never serious and broke up because she wanted to get back together with her ex - who she is now marrying - and Harry wasn’t in love with Cress either. Nothing to do with their money as both are rich, Cressida again a member of the Aristo circle, member of Aristo family, member of the elite families, a socialite, a trust fund baby! 

But because they broke up and he went on to date and marry someone with less money, not an Aristo, not a member of the British elite and with no connections he is a snob.

Hi I'm the anon from a few days ago and I was gonna update you on my progress! I'm about a third of the way through Unnatural Death (I started with Whose Body) and I've really enjoyed the hijinks that Peter has been getting up to! And Miss Climpson is such an effective gossip/source of information it's hilarious!

My favourite anon!!!! I didn't get a notification for this so I have no idea how long it's been sitting in my inbox, but what a lovely surprise to find it there!

Miss Climpson is a stone cold badass. What an icon, honestly - she's just immediately ride or die and absolutely willing to do some truly wild shit.

In a way, though, she rather reminds me of Peter himself. Not in terms of general personality at all, though I do love how DLS over-italicises her dialogue because it's such a vivid and effective method of characterization; it's more that... they're both people that general society has decided are useless. Peter's expected to be a slightly vacant aristocrat with no real need to concern himself with anything outside of Society (in other words, his brother), and Miss Climpson is a little antiquated in every sense of the world, so therefore she's just kind of... there, an indistinct noun-thing no one really knows what to do with. But they're both smart, observant people who would rather do something useful than just while the days away in idleness, and it's exactly those prescribed roles that make them so effective as investigators - they use the capricious aristo and harmless spinster facades to get more information than Charles Parker could ever manage, solidly dependable though he is.

Though I do adore Charles. He's probably my favourite minor character, though I'm not sure "minor" is quite the right word considering how often he pops up. Supporting, maybe? At any rate, he and Peter make great BFFs and watching him moon over Mary in Clouds of Witness was hysterical.

Google’s big milestone in quantum computing

Google claims their experimental quantum processor computed a problem that would have taken any other supercomputer thousands of years. [AP News / Rachel Lerman and Matt O’Brien]

A newly released paper revealed that Google’s 54-qubit computer was able to complete a task in 200 seconds that Google estimated would take over 10,000 years on non-quantum models. [Newsweek / Aristos Georgiou]

Ordinary computers rely on lots of small calculations, each processing “bits” of information that simply hold a 1 or a 0. In physical terms, a system of gates provides a path for electricity to flow and move data around. [New York Times / Cade Metz]

Quantum computers make use of “qubits,” with extremely cold materials that allow manipulation under the classical physics-bending rules of quantum mechanics. Qubits can essentially simultaneously hold a 1 and a 0, so a quantum computer can combine smaller calculations rather than generating them first. [NYT / Cade Metz]
