this is a largely meaningless observation but, based on the fleki uniform demonstration comic, mithrun seems to wear the default style of the canary uniform, probably because he has no desire to personalize it or preference for how to do so, etc. when he does seem to pick his own clothes, though, they don’t look super in-line with what we’re shown of elven clothing styles in his region: high collars look like they’re fairly popular with elves in general, but out of uniform he tends to be a lot more covered up than everyone else—long sleeves, long pants, boots rather than sandals, and he dresses that way both prior to getting eaten and after the events of the series. anyway it’s kind of cute that after everything that happened to him, someone cared enough to remember what his clothing preferences used to be.

I know I'm days late but NOTHING could've prepared me for Hyuna's confession/forgiveness speech, I thought Hyuluka's reunion would be angry and bitterly nostalgic but it was so. gentle. I was also fully convinced that Luka's feelings were not returned but the alternate universe suggests otherwise.

Obviously Hyuna cared for him when they were kids and still cared for him deep down even after Hyunwoo's death. She loved him as deeply as family, then she feared and resented and was haunted by him after his betrayal. But her forgiveness, besides being a deathbed change of heart reconciliation, is also a sign of how she matured and healed in her years with the rebellion after escaping alien stage. It's a contrast between the unhealthy, obsessive, tunnel vision love fostered by the environment of alien stage, the guarded personality forced upon the human pets. But Hyuna is different, her love is loud and overflowing and she wants to spread it to everyone, so she thrives in the rebellion. She inspires hope, lights up a room, helps Mizi settle in despite the horrific events she's witnessed. Mizi is similar to her in that way, bright and loving and lovable, her heart on her sleeve, maybe not quite aware of the corruption in other people and the aliens around them until it's too late. That's why she fits into the rebellion too.

Hyuluka being requited also reminds me of Ivantill. Tbh I didn't think Till loved Ivan back. Till definitely valued Ivan as a friend, otherwise he wouldn't have allowed Ivan to cling to him and share in his gentle, creative moments. I didn't think he loved him as much as he loved Mizi, but then he breaks down in R7 as memories of Ivan take over his mind and he seems to love Ivan in that one beach au. Alien Stage is a story of love and how love is corrupted. It's about love that appears unrequited but in truth is just realized too late, love shared for the right person but in the wrong universe. Even with the platonic relationships, it's love that could have been healing and bright but was ripped away with only bitter emotions lacing the edges. It's moments full of love and peace and smiles despite the doom that settles over them. Wow I need to sit down.
