Hey! I saw your post about requests being open (and that you enjoy writing angst)! I humbly submit for consideration toward any of the following: Wanda Maximoff, Natasha Romanoff, Lexi Grey, or Kara Danvers.
Reader being discovered in the wee hours of the morning, unconscious or barely conscious, outside characters place of work or place they frequent (home, thinking spot, running path, etc etc) with a pretty serious wound. It's getting to the colder months of the year so them being out unsheltered seemingly all night makes the situation that much worse.
Tone of the ending and reason for them being in that situation I shall leave up to your preference. I hope this tickles your creative juices :)
hihi!! i really loved this request and i decided to make it a natasha fic!! i incorportated most of what you said and added some things and changed some but i love how this turned out. hope you enjoy !!

the sky was a blanket of soft gray, heavy with clouds that spilled a steady drizzle onto the world below. raindrops danced against the windows, their rhythmic tapping filling the quiet air. the new york streets glistened with a mirror-like sheen, reflecting the blurred colors of the passing cars and neon street signs. luckily, most new york residents were used to this kind of weather this time of year, yourself included.
after a rather nasty fight with another vigilante, you found yourself roaming the dark, empty streets, bloodied and battered.
you contemplated going back to your apartment, but you knew these streets like the back of your hand; you knew you were at least 20 minutes away.
so, you looked for the next best thing: natasha’s apartment.
now, you’d only known the woman for a short amount of time, but to be completely honest, you felt safer going to her than anyone else. maybe you were just going soft. whatever.
a cool, damp breeze carried the fresh scent of rain-soaked earth and pavement, the rain blowing in your face as it did so. everything seemed to move slower, as though the rain had draped a calming hush over the bustling city.
as you walked, you could feel the blood gushing out of each and every one of your wounds. you knew it was a stupid idea, walking the one mile to her apartment but you would just have to pull through. though, there was no denying the unbearable agony you were in.
limping your way through the streets, the apartment complex natasha lived in, came into view. it was a tall, building with weathered bricks and fire escapes zigzagging down the sides.
knowing you couldn't enter the building because that would cause suspicion, you slowly made your way to the side of the building, where the fire escapes were lined on the walls. you did a quick check for cameras, which fortunately, there were none.
you look up, examining all six rows of windows. natasha was on the fourth floor. fourth row, fifth window. now, how the hell were you going to climb up that latter and all those stairs? shit.
you'd done this before, obviously, but with a burning sensation in your abdomen? definitely not.
with a resigned sigh, you gritted your teeth and reached for the cold metal of the fire escape ladder. the rain made everything slick, and your bloodied, gloved fingers slipped slightly, but you held on, determined. each movement sent a fresh wave of pain shooting through your body, but you pulled through on. you couldn’t risk being seen like this.
the first rung was the hardest, your muscles screaming in protest. it felt like every cell in your body wanted to quit, but the thought of natasha—of her calm, steady presence—propelled you upward. one rung. then another. the ladder creaked softly under your weight, blending with the hum of the rain.
by the time you reached the first platform, your breathing was ragged, your vision blurring slightly.
you paused, leaning against the railing as you gathered your strength. the rain continued to fall, drenching you completely now, but it dulled the sharp sting of your wounds, if only for a moment.
"come on," you muttered to yourself, wiping the rain from your eyes with the back of your hand. "just three more floors." you cracked your neck.
the climb was agonizing. every pull of your arms and push of your legs sent pain radiating through your body, but you couldn’t stop. Not now. not when you were so close. when you finally reached the fourth floor, you nearly collapsed against the railing. your hands trembled as you forced yourself to move toward natasha’s window.
fifth window, you reminded yourself, counting them out one by one. there it was. the faint glow of a lamp illuminated the room inside, but no on inside. let it be her who leaves her lights on all the time.
you cursed under your breath, the rain pouring down even harder than before. you sat down on the platform, though even that movement felt like fire in your body.
you were certainly hoping she was just in her bedroom. however, when you knocked on the glass of the window, there was no response.
"wow, the universe is really on my side today." you uttered sarcastically, rolling your eyes to the best of your ability.
minutes dragged on, and your patience wore thin. just as you contemplated dragging yourself back down the fire escape—a terrible idea, given your condition—you heard the faint click of heels on pavement below. you perked up, glancing over the edge, and there she was. natasha. walking toward the building with an umbrella in one hand and a paper bag in the other, completely unaware of the disaster waiting for her on the fire escape.
“nat,” you breathed in relief, your voice barely audible even to yourself.
she stopped by the front door, scanning her surroundings with the precision of someone who never let her guard down. her gaze darted upward, freezing the moment it landed on you. for a split second, her face was unreadable. then, her brows furrowed in a way that made your chest ache more than your wounds.
“are you freaking kidding me?” she called up, her voice sharp, though it cracked slightly at the end.
her umbrella clattered to the ground as she darted into the alley and grabbed the fire escape ladder. the metal groaned softly under her weight, but natasha moved fast, climbing with a precision that reminded you just how good she was at what she did.
“hey, red,” you rasped when she reached you, managing the ghost of a grin. “miss me?”
she crouched in front of you, her sharp green eyes scanning your face, then trailing down to the rest of you. the exasperation you expected was nowhere to be found. instead, her expression darkened as she took in the full extent of your injuries. blood soaked through the leather of your suit, and a nasty gash on your bicep had left a trail of crimson dripping onto the platform below.
her jaw tightened. “what the hell happened to you?”
“ran into someone who didn’t appreciate my charm,” you quipped, trying to lighten the mood. “jealous, maybe.”
natasha didn’t laugh. her eyes lingered on the wound on your abdomen, and when she reached out to inspect it, her fingers brushed against your side. you flinched, unable to hold back a sharp hiss of pain.
“god,” she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. she knelt closer, her hands hovering over the worst of the damage as though she wasn’t sure where to start. “why didn’t you go to your place and then a hospital?”
“c’mon, red,” you said, forcing a smirk despite the searing pain. “hospitals don’t let you flirt with their nurses like this. figured i'd wait here until i heard, 'here, kitty kitty'.” you chuckled, the sensation making your stomach ache.
“stop it,” she snapped, her voice suddenly harsh. her gaze shot up to meet yours, and for the first time, you saw something crack in her carefully composed exterior. “this isn’t funny.”
you blinked, your smirk faltering. “nat—”
“do you have any idea how bad this is?” she interrupted, her tone sharp but trembling. her hand pressed lightly against the wound on your abdomen, trying to stem the bleeding. “damn it, y/n, if i hadn’t come back just now…” she trailed off, her jaw clenching as she swallowed hard.
“hey,” you said softly, your voice weaker now. you lifted your hand to the best of your ability, placing it on her cheek. “i’m fine. i made it here, didn’t i?”
she shook her head, her lips pressing into a tight line as she helped you to your feet. “you’re an idiot,” she muttered, but the words lacked venom.
“yeah, but i’m your idiot,” you teased weakly, leaning on her as she guided you through the open window.
once inside, she eased you down onto the couch and crouched in front of you again. as she grabbed the first aid kit, you noticed her hands were shaking ever so slightly. she opened the kit with the kind of precision that spoke to how many times she’d done this before, but her silence hung heavy between you.
god, this pained you. the last thing you wanted to do was worry her, and you had done just that. “nat,” you started, but she cut you off.
“don’t,” she said sharply, not looking at you as she began to open your suit, cleaning the blood from your side. “just… don’t.”
the sting of antiseptic made you flinch, but you bit your tongue. her movements were firm but careful, her focus locked entirely on patching you up.
after a few moments, “you scared me,” she said finally, her voice quieter than you’d ever heard it. the words hung heavy in the air, and the sharp edge of anger was gone now, replaced by something raw and unguarded.
you blinked, caught off guard. “nat…”
“no,” she cut you off, setting the cloth down and sitting back on her heels. her eyes, now shimmering with an emotion you couldn’t quite place, met yours. “do you even get it? i come home, and I see you—half-dead, bleeding out on my fire escape like it’s just another...freaking tuesday.”
her voice cracked slightly, and she quickly looked away, as if embarrassed by the slip. she ran a hand through her damp hair, taking a steadying breath. “do you have any idea what went through my head when i saw you up there?”
“natasha,” you tried again, softer this time.
“i thought you were dead,” she continued, ignoring you. H=her fists clenched at her sides. “for a split second, I thought I was too late. and the worst part? the worst part is that you probably don’t even care. you’ll laugh it off, throw some stupid flirt my way, and act like it’s fine. like you didn’t just scare the hell out of me.”
her words hit you harder than you expected, the guilt settling deep in your chest. you just wanted to say sorry, even though you knew that wasn't enough. you wanted to tell her how much you felt for her and how you were never going anywhere. you opened your mouth to say something—anything—but she wasn’t done.
“do you know how many people i’ve lost because of this kind of stupidity? people who thought they were invincible, who thought they could take the hit and keep going?” she was looking at you again now, her green eyes blazing with a mix of anger and something that looked a lot like fear. “i can’t… i can’t do that again.”
your breath hitched. you’d seen natasha angry before, you’d seen her annoyed, amused, even borderline fond. but this? this was different. this made your stomach churn.
“natasha,” you said, your voice breaking slightly. “i didn’t mean to—”
“i don’t care what you meant,” she interrupted, shaking her head. “you think it doesn’t matter, that you can just push through anything, but it matters to me, okay? you matter to me.”
the confession hit you like a punch to the gut. for a moment, the pain in your body was secondary to the ache in your chest. you’d always known natasha cared in her own way but hearing her say it—hearing the crack in her voice as she did—made it feel real in a way you hadn’t expected.
you swallowed hard, your usual bravado slipping away. you propped yourself up with your shoulders, despite the ache. “i didn’t mean to scare you,” you said softly, the teasing edge completely gone from your voice. “i swear, i didn’t.”
her shoulders slumped slightly, some of the fire in her expression dimming. she let out a shaky breath, her hands falling to her lap. “then stop doing this to me,” she whispered. “stop making me wonder if the next time you show up, it’ll be the last.”
the silence that followed was heavy, broken only by the soft patter of rain against the window. you reached out, your hand brushing against hers. “i’m sorry. i'm so fucking sorry. i know that's not enough, but i mean it.” you said, the apologies meaning more than they ever had before.
for a moment, she didn’t respond. then, finally, she squeezed your hand, her grip firm but trembling. “just don’t make me regret caring about you,” she said quietly.
you nodded, swallowing the lump in your throat. “i won’t.”
neither of you spoke after that, but her hand stayed in yours, and in the quiet of the rain-soaked room, you promised yourself you wouldn’t let her down again.

The snow drifted gently outside the windows of bambis brownstone, dusting the building in white, quiet, and peace.
Inside, the air smelled like warm vanilla sugar cookies, the kind that made you feel safe and cozy. Soft candlelights flickered against the walls, casting a sweet golden glow over the room, books like “indiana” and “La muse et l'écrivain” were scattered across a baby blue couch adorned with delicate, lacy pillows.
Ms. Mocha, her new kitty, curled up on one of the pillows closest to the heater, lazily batting at the fraying edges.
"Okay, I’m really freaking excited about this," Bambi said, pulling a pink, glittery panda face mask from the bag. She had pure excitement and mischief in her doe eyes, the one that meant she’d found something utterly ridiculous and she just had to share it with her man who was sprawled under her on the couch, his big hands on her waistline.
To bambi He was the sexiest man alive in that effortless, cool way, but right now, he was looking at the panda mask confused.
“I don’t know, baby,” drew said, rubbing the back of his neck, his voice warm with affection but she could hear the hesitation.
not very cool
bambi laughed, holding it up between her perfectly manicured fingernails. "Come on, it’s so cute—" she pouted at him "Plus, it’s fun. Right Ms. Mocha?"
Drew glanced at the fluffy brown ball , who was still lazily watching them from the pillow. "Mocha s’not impressed." He said playfully rolling his eyes
“First of all it’s Ms. Mocha and second of all, she is impressed! What are you talking about?" Bambi shot back, pushing her pointer finger into his chiseled bare chest. “You promised you’d do whatever to make me happy, right?.”
Drew raised an eyebrow, shifting his gaze to her. “I did, huh?”
Bambi leaned in, grabbing his face and pressed a long chaste kiss to his lips before pulling away. “Yes, you did. Now shut up and let me put this on you.”
Drew chuckled, knowing damn well he’d never really say no to his girl. Not when she looked at him like that, all warm and soft with the dim light playing over her features, rolling his eyes once more before leaning in for another kiss. “Alright, alright. For you, I’ll be a panda tonight.”
Bambi clapped her hands together and let out an excited squeal, it was one of those moments that made Drew’s heart soften in that way only she could do.
“Come on,” she said, already slipping the mask onto his face, “It’s cute! You’ll see.”
Drew closed his eyes and let her take over, she fumbled a little as she pulled the mask over his face, his cheeks getting red with the absurdity of it all when she handed him the baby pink hand mirror. “I look like a—“
"Sexy panda!" she said, voice muffled and amused “you look like a sexy panda” Bambi laughed
Drew caught her eyes, and despite the embarrassment of the moment, he couldn’t help but smile.
She looked so cute with the white-pink mask and the way her eyes sparkled even through the fabric. “dream girl” he thought
Her long silky hair was up in a sparkly claw clip after being tousled and wild from a long day of filming, in this quiet little bubble of time, with the snow falling softly outside and Ms. Mocha purring beside them, drew couldn’t think of anywhere else he’d rather be.
“So,” he said, settling further into the couch, letting his head rest on one of the cozy pillows, “how to lose a man in 10 days?”
“Duh” Bambi slipped off his lap and grabbed the remote. "I can’t believe you’ve never watched it”
They settled in together, Ms. Mocha curling up between the two
Bambi snuggled closer as the opening credits of the movie began to roll, “I love you,” she said kissing his bicep that was secure around her shoulder and neck
Drew threaded their fingers together “I love you more bambi ”

You have been working with wolves long enough to recognize trouble the second it walks into the bar but there was something about Jungkook that made you forget everything Namjoon told you about the dangers of lone wolves.
pairing: werewolf!jungkook x f. human!reader genre: werewolf!au, smut, angst with a happy ending word count: 10,160 warnings: language, explicit content (oral and penetrati, non-graphic violence, and mild blood author's note: i posted this on an old tumblr back in 2019/2020 and it has been crossposted on my ao3 since then. i wanted to repost it as i have (after almost five years) have picked writing back up and have decided to continue to work in this universe. i have not edited this since it was originally uploaded. i can't guarantee it still holds up after all these years, but i wanted to post it anyway!
Your dressing room in the back of the club didn’t have any windows, but that didn’t stop the sound of the rain pelting onto the structure of the building from sounding like it was about to burst through the drywall. Night’s like this that made your job difficult as no one would want to leave the comfort of their own warm and dry homes to come to a smoke filled bar to hear you sing. But you were due on stage in 5 minutes and if your performance tonight was cancelled, Namjoon would have popped his head in to tell you to just go home.
So here you are, fixing the red lipstick that had smeared along the edge of your lips after taking a large sip of tea for your throat. You lean towards the illuminated mirror to make sure nothing else on your face was out of place, double checking the bobby pins you had carefully placed to see if they were still secure. It wasn’t like you were much of a dancer, you stood neatly in front of a grand piano for most of your shift, except for the moments when you walk through the crowd in hopes that one of the men who had a little too much to drink felt like leaving you a tip.
You reach down towards the drawers of your vanity, fingers hovering over the handles as you decide which drawer to open. You close your eyes, letting fate decide and open one of the two you had been debating between. It was the first drawer, filled with the flashiest of your stage jewelry. The pair of earrings were covered in crystals and gems that made it seem like a disco ball was hanging from your ears. Some of them were gifts from your fans, given to you in hopes they would somehow get them an “in” with you. As if your love and affection could be bought with something simple as jewelry.
You decide on a simple pair and secure them to your ears. The tips of your fingers brush against the skin of your neck, making you shudder as you remember the way his lips used to kiss the sensitive flesh. You take a deep breath, trying to push the memory to the back of your mind and focus on the reality in front of you.
You look at the time on the clock, it’s hands were pointing to just before showtime. So you disrobe, placing the fluffy pink material onto your vanity bench. Your hands smooth over the ice blue silk fabric in attempts to hide any of the creases that formed when you were sitting down.
There is a soft knock on the door just as there is every night at this moment.
“You can come in.” you call out after hearing a muffled “Y/N?” travel through the door.
Namjoon opens the door just enough to slip through the cracks without exposing anyone to your hideaway. He gives you the once over, running through his own mental checklist to make sure you were dressed for the occasion.
“Are you ready?” he questions, looking at your face through the mirror.
You gesture him to your back to take a look at the bow you had tied with the straps. “Is it even?”
Your friend sighs, recognizing your question was an attempt for him to forget what he was really asking you.
“You’re going to have to talk about it one day, Y/N.” he reminds you as he double knots your bow.
“About what?”
“Him.”
You turn around to face him, trying your best to keep your poker face in tact as it would do you no good if you came apart at the seams just before you were due on stage.
“Not now.” you warn him, squeezing past him to start your shift.
You were surprised at the amount of people in the bar this evening as you were sure the weather would turn the night into a dud but almost every single seat was filled. Yoongi was already sitting at the piano and arranging his sheet music neatly in order even though the set you were about to sing was almost always the same, and he had memorized it long ago.
Involuntarily, your eyes scan for him in the crowd and you are unsure if you want him to be among the faces or not. You know that the entire situation was for the best. And that his presence in your life had only brought trouble. The disappointment you’re feeling doesn’t last long however, as you see the president of the largest cannery in town sitting at a booth with a bunch of his friends that looked like they had taken a shower in cologne.
He would be your target tonight.
You flash a grin to the audience as you make your way onto the stage, making sure they all believed the act you were about to perform.
“Are you ready Yoongi?” you tease in your performance voice.
The pianist nods and starts to play the first song on your list.
By the second song you know you have the president wrapped around your finger. He was leaning forward onto the table, his fingers holding onto the glass of scotch he hadn’t taken a drink from in several songs. It was amusing how easy it was to get them eating out of the palm of your hand. All it took was a combination of eye contact and your hips to send them into a frenzy.
You enjoy watching the way men wrapped themselves around your fingers. Maybe this was the reason you were unable to give yourself fully to someone else, knowing how each of your exes felt about your career. They would be fine at first, completely understanding and accepting of the fact that you flirt with men for a living but then after a few months it would start to turn. They get “protective” but jealousy was all the same no matter what you tried to call it.
So you make a promise to yourself, that as long as you were performing on stage for a living, love would be the last thing on your mind. It was easier that way, at least so you thought.
You reach the point in the night where you engage with the crowd and you step down from the stage and make your way through the crowd, watching as they all hold their breath in hopes they’re the lucky one you chose tonight. He is waiting for you, straightening his posture as you make your way towards his booth, scooting towards the edge so he can get a better look at you. You go through through your calculated motions, making his cheeks deepen with a mixture of alcohol and unfulfilled lust.
He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a crisp bill in the largest sum they make. He slips it between two of his fingers, offering it to you with a smirk on his face like he’s got it in the bag.
“Thank you.” you tease, winking at him with a smile as you grab the money from his hands and slip it into the bust of your dress.
Yoongi rolls his eyes the second the two of you make eye contact as you head back towards the stage, his fingers never leaving the piano.
“I’ll share with you.” you mouth to him, making the pianist wrinkle his nose.
“I’m afraid I only have one song left tonight.” you apologize to the crowd in disbelief yourself that it had already gone by so fast.
The men in the audience protest, encouraging you to keep going.
But your attention isn’t on them as the door to the bar slammed open with a thud.
Jungkook stumbles in from outside. His clothes were soaking wet, sticking to his bones as he makes his way through the crowd. He doesn’t apologize as his limbs crash into other patrons of your work, leaving a trail of men yelling various curses and forms of protest in his path. He was almost to your dressing room when you notice that his shirt used to be white. The button was swirling in shades of crimson.
“Why is he always bleeding?” you think to yourself as you try to remain composed, keeping yourself together as you finish the last song of the night.
“Thank you everyone for coming out tonight!” you smile as Yoongi’s fingers grace the last of the notes on the piano.
The audience around you claps and whistles louder than you deserve and you bow slightly, careful not to expose yourself before heading towards the back of the stage.
“Did you see him?” Yoongi asks just loud enough so that you would be the only one who hears him.
“Yes.” you take his hand as he offers it, holding the skirt of your dress in the other and the two of you head down the stairs in sync.
“When was the last time you saw him?”
“Three months ago.” Almost to the day, not that you were counting.
Yoongi sighs, “Please take care of yourself, Y/N.”
But you wave him off, “I always do.”
You head towards the back of the bar, reaching behind the large oak counter top to grab a few bar towels as you had used the last of the ones in your dressing room to dry yourself off from the elements. Out of the corner of your eye notices the metal first aid kid tucked in between Namjoon’s personal items. You were unsure if the contents of the kit would even be able to help him as it looked like he had been bleeding a lot, but you grab it anyway. Just in case your self-taught skills could come to use.
“Where are you going, beautiful?” a low voice asks you as soon as you start to make your way towards the dressing room.
You turn around to no surprise and see the man who had tipped you earlier in the evening. He is staring at you with dark eyes and you know how he wants you to answer his question. But that wasn’t going to happen, especially when there was a bleeding werewolf in your dressing room.
“I’m off to freshen up.” you smile, drawing out your syllables slowly.
“Would you like company?” he asks right on schedule.
You shake your head. “No boys allowed.”
His eyes flash with lust. “I’m not a boy.”
“I can see that, but this lady needs her privacy for a few moments, alright? Why don’t you let Yoongi make you a strong drink and I will be out shortly, okay?” You put a compromise on the table even though you know you might not be able to hold up your end of the offer.
But it was enough to satisfy the man, and he takes a step back, but before reaching out for your hand to place a gentle kiss on your skin.
You rip your hand out of his and gently wipe your hand on the back of your dress before putting distance between the two of you.
“Come back soon.” he winks, making it almost impossible for you to not visibly gag in front of him.
Every step you took made your heart skip further and further into your throat, feeling as though you could almost choke with anticipation for what is waiting for you on the other side of the door. You stare at your hand reaching out for the door knob, wondering how one part of your body could be more courageous than the rest of it. You close your eyes, taking in a breath as far as your lungs could go and hold it until you start to feel a rush in your head and turn the handle.
Namjoon’s back is the first thing you see once you find the courage to open your eyes. His hands are at his hips, balled into fists as he hovers over Jungkook. His body was hunched over the back of your chair, arms hanging loosely as though the blood loss or alcohol had made him lose total control over his limbs.
“It’s almost a blood moon, Jungkook.” Namjoon growls deep within his chest the second you close the door, locking it just in case any of the patrons decide to give themselves a private tour of your dressing room,
“Do you know what kind of risk you’re putting everyone in this bar in? What kind of risk you’re putting Y/N in? Huh? Or are you so fucking selfish that you don’t care about who’s life you destroy?”
Jungkook doesn’t answer, his gaze remains glued to the ground as if he was trying to summon demons to the hellmouth your town was sitting atop of.
“Don’t worry.” you hear Jungkook eventually mumble. “I’ll be gone soon.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” you question him.
Jungkook looks at you through rain soaked hair. The dark black strands stick to his face, making the werewolf in front of you look even more disheveled than he does on a day to day basis. You must have been the last person to run a pair of scissors through his locks as they were hanging in his face, hiding the scar on his cheekbone. You hated how he looked at you, making you feel vulnerable and raw as one glance could tell him everything he needed to know about how you’re feeling at that very moment.
Namjoon steps aside, pinching the bridge of his nose between frustrated fingertips as he knows exactly how the scene in front of him is going to unfold. He takes a deep breath before looking at you with eyes full of pity.
“Y/N, please don’t forget what happened the last time he stormed in here.” he warns you of that night three months ago.
He had found you curled in a ball underneath your vanity, crying into your dressing gown. You were convinced that night was going to be the last time you ever saw Jeon Jungkook. Three months later, here he was, almost exactly where the two of you had left off.
“I won’t.” you reach out to squeeze your boss’ hand, letting him know that you had it under control and he could leave the two of you alone.
Namjoon hesitates, pressing his tongue into his cheek as he debates whether or not it’s a good idea for him to leave.
“I think that’s your cue to leave.” Jungkook snaps at the older wolf.
Namjoon scowls, looking at the lone wolf in disgust. “You are lucky I didn’t throw you to your former pack the first time you walked into my bar and you’re lucky I’m not going to do that now. If you lay even one finger on her, I’ll know and I’ll make sure that Jimin knows exactly where to find you. Got it?”
The threat makes Jungkook laugh, rolling his eyes at the threat. “Whatever you say, boss.”
“I’m sorry.” you whisper as Namjoon turns around to leave.
“I’ll be right outside.” he tells you, eyes flickering over to the panic button he had installed a year ago. “Jus-”
“Just press the button and you’ll be right in.” you nod your head. “I know the drill.”
One last sigh of disapproval leaves Namjoon’s chest before he leaves the two of you alone, closing the door tightly behind him.
Jungkook’s eyes follow your every move as you make your way towards the large cherry boudoir. You open the bottom drawer, pulling out the large first aid kit you and several pairs of surgical gloves.
“Lean back.” you not so much tell him but push his shoulders back into the chair and push his chin up towards the ceiling.
You try your best to keep the long shaggy hair out of his face, but the blood soaked strands have a mind of their own, forcing you to bring out reinforcements. You wander over to your vanity, opening the top left drawer and pull out a pink ribbon before resuming your place in front of the bleeding wolf.
Silence begins to settle like dust around the two of you as you get to work, pulling on the latex gloves to make sure everything you’re doing is as sanitary as it can be in this situation. You collect the hair on the crown of his head and tie it messily in the pink ribbon, making you laugh at how ridiculous he looked.
“What’s so funny?” Jungkook cocks an eyebrow.
“You look absolutely ridiculous.”
“You should see the other guy.”
That joke was funny the first few times you heard it, but after hearing it hundreds of times, all you can do is sigh.
You ignore it, choosing to give all your attention to the task at hand and pull out the large brown bottle of antiseptic.
Jungkook’s lips press into a thin line as he watches you unscrew the cap and pour the clear liquid onto a cotton swab. He was usually a man of many words and countless brags about how he fucked someone up or how he managed to leave the scene of debauchery without getting caught.
Tonight was different. There was something in the air, bubbling under the surface as it waits for its chance to breach the surface.
He winces as you dab the wound on his eyebrow, cleaning up the excess blood so you assess the damage. It didn’t seem to be very deep, only needing a few stitches and he would be as good as he could get.
“Where did you learn how to do this?” he asks, trying to ease some of the tension that had been growing between you.
“Here. I’ve just had lots of practice over the years.”
“So I’m not the first?“
There is a hint of jealousy in his question, making you roll your eyes as you finish your handiwork, and take a seat on your vanity stool.
"Yoongi was the first.” you take off your gloves, throwing them in the trash before you search through your first aid for the last few items you need.
You can’t help but laugh as the memory of that night plays back in your mind. “It was two, maybe three years ago? I can’t remember, but it was a really slow night. There might have been one or two customers inside the bar all night long. I had given up on my set, so I was seated at the end playing a card game with Namjoon while we tried to pass the time. Maybe an hour before last call a group of very drunk and very obnoxious vampires came crashing into the bar.”
Jungkook shakes his head. “When are vampires ever not obnoxious?”
“Sit still, I’m not done yet.” You hold his head in place “Namjoon let them order one more round before he cut them off, which the youngest didn’t seem to like. The others apologized for his behavior, trying to excuse the fact that he was a brand new vampire on his inability to control his temper. But that just made him more agitated so he started to scream nonsense about how he was perfectly able to take care of himself and he threw his empty blood bottle and it smashed right into Yoongi’s face on the piano.”
You take a deep breath. “It was a complete disaster. The second that newborn smelled Yoongi’s wolf blood, he went ballistic. He tried to drain him and it took every single one of his friends to hold him back. Namjoon kicked all of them out before anything else could happen and banned them from entering. Luckily Yoongi was fine, and it wasn’t anything serious but for whatever reason he refused to go to the hospital and made me stitch him up in my dressing room even though I had no idea what I was doing. And now he has that giant awful scar on his left eyebrow. Haven’t you noticed it?”
Jungkook looks at you as your re-gloved hands rub antibacterial ointment on his stitches and place a band-aid over his wound. “No, you’re the only thing I’ve noticed since the first time I walked in.”
His words catch you off guard, making you slam the lid to your first aid kit shut as you attempt to not let your emotions get the best of you.
“That dress looks amazing on you, by the way. I’m glad I got to see you wear it, if it’s just this once.” he tells you, tracing your body with his pupils.
You look down at the light blue silk, feeling exposed underneath the smooth fabric that covers your body.
────────────────────
It was the first and only time you have ever seen Jungkook while the sun was still hanging in the sky. He showed up at your apartment in the middle of your morning coffee and toast. The loud thud of his fist against your front door made you grab the large baseball bat you kept near the umbrellas just in case. You were ready to swing as you watched the doorknob jiggle back and forth, making you freeze in place.
Whoever it was, had a lot of nerve to break into your apartment in the middle of the afternoon. You raise the bat as if you’re ready to swing the second they cross the threshold. You take a deep breath, closing your eyes as your front door swings open.
“Y/N! What the hell!” Jungkook hisses as he grabs the bat in his palms before you could make a dent in his forehead.
Your eyes open wide. “Jungkook? What the hell! Haven’t you ever heard of knocking?”
“You’re hot when you’re about to get violent.” he teases, using his wolf strength to take the piece of wood out of your hands.
“What the hell are you doing?” you refuse to drop the subject despite his attempts of making you forget by taking you in his arms and kissing down your neck.
“I wanted to see you.” He purrs.
“And you couldn’t have called?”
“I didn’t think you would have answered.” he finds amusement in the goosebumps rising in your skin.
You push the wolf off of you, standing your ground. “I’m not in the mood after the stunt you just pulled.”
“I’m not here to fuck you.” he grins, clearly pleased with himself for getting you worked up.
“Then what are you here for?” you fold your arms across your chest.
“I want to take you somewhere.” he reaches out to take your hand, but you recoil.
“And where is that exactly?”
He leans forward, flashing that boyish grin you hate to love. “It’s a surprise.”
You roll your eyes. “Let me grab my purse.”
Jungkook waits for you by the door like a puppy who just heard the word “walk”. And it was moments like these that made it easy for you to forget what he really was. This was a side he seldom shared, letting it slip through the cracks in bits and pieces before he put his big bad wolf persona back on. A part of you wants to ask him to stay and to never let him out of your sight. That question wouldn’t be fair and you know that. Jungkook wasn’t meant to be tied down, especially not to a human like you.
The feeling that was growing in your heart is cursed but that doesn’t stop you from taking his hand and let him lead you out onto the busy streets.
“Why are you in such a hurry?” you ask him out of breath, barely able to keep up with his large footsteps.
He immediately slows down. “Sorry, we’re running late.”
“Do we have an appointment?” you question as he pulls you closer to his side. The gesture makes you nervous as you wait for his warm to wrap around his waist but the ringing of a bicycle bell brings you back to reality. Jungkook was only making sure you didn’t get run over.
“I’m not telling you.” he teases, nodding his head to the right. “It’s this way.”
He leads you down a busy side street, one you had never walked down on your own. Mostly because it’s length was full of stores that were way out of your bar singer price range. Jungkook stops in front of a large store almost at the end of the street. You stare up at the sign, realizing he had brought you to a dress shop.
“Jungkoo-” you begin to protest but he is already two steps ahead of you and holding the door open for you to follow him.
You feel immediately out of place as soon as you step onto the large marble floor of the store. Everywhere you turn are clothing racks full of dresses you had only seen in editorial spreads in magazines. It took all your strength not to reach out and touch every single one.
Jungkook’s eyes were following your amazement, watching you as you walked passed each rack. “Do you see anything you like?”
“You mean everything?” you laugh, your eyes focused on an emerald green velvet dress.
“You can try it on if you like.” he suggests, catching up to your strides.
“I-I couldn’t.”
“But you can.” he whispers.
“Mr. Jeon Jungkook, look how you’ve grown!” a loud voice calls out suddenly, making the two of you turn around immediately.
A small woman covered in needles, thread and tape measures approaches the two of you. Jungkook greats her warmly, leaning down so she can plant kisses on each of his cheeks.
“Oh! I got lipstick on you.” She starts to wipe off her lip prints but Jungkook waves her off.
“I like them.”
“Wolves like you keep me young.” She smacks him playfully on the chest before turning her attention to you. She looks up at you, pushing her large black glasses up the bridge of her nose. “Now who do we have here?”
“Hello, I’m Y/N.” you smile at her warmly.
She looks at Jungkook with an amused look on her face. “You didn’t tell me she was this pretty.”
Jungkook’s cheeks turn a deep shade of red. This was the first time you had ever seen Jungkook blush and you were enjoying the fact the shoe was on the other foot for once.
“Come with me darling and we can get started.” she begins to pull you by the elbow towards a small podium nestled between a three sided mirror.
She urges you to step up as Jungkook takes a seat in one of the large plush pink chairs. Without another word she starts to take your measurements, reaching from your head to your toe, scribbling them down in a worn out notepad.
“Now what were you thinking as far as the design goes my dear?” she asks, blinking several times through her thick frames.
“I’m sorry?” you ask in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“What about a thin strap and maybe a slit that goes up to here?” she places her finger on your mid-thigh. “Jungkook? What do you think?”
He looks up from his phone, “I’m sure any design you come up with will look great.”
The woman nods her head before handing you a large binder that seemed to weigh almost as much as she did. “Take a look through these swatches and I will be back in just a few minutes, alright my dear?”
You nod before taking a seat next to Jungkook who was furiously typing away on his phone.
“What is this for, Jungkook?” you ask firmly, making him slide his phone into his pocket.
“I just wanted to say thank you.” he stares at you.
“Thank you for what?”
“For taking care of me all this time.”
“Someone has to.” you whisper, looking up to stare at him.
Your eyes locked onto his. His pitch black irises were unreadable as you stared at him. Both of you were unsure where to take it from here. This was uncharted territory after all. The first time the two of you had been outside the confines of your work. You hadn’t even fucked in a bed, yet alone go out in public with each other.
“What do you think about these?” you ask, opening the book of swatches to a random page of fabric.
Jungkook’s chest falls as he exhales, directing his attention to the book in your hands. He points to a swatch of ice blue silk. “That one is pretty.”
“Have you decided, my dear?” the seamstress returns to the dressing room.
You nod, pointing to the swatch of silk. “I think I’ll go with this one.”
A large smile spreads across her face. “Delightful! That color will look amazing on you.” ────────────────────
“This is the first time I’ve worn it.” you admit, looking down at the silk dress, playing with the seam of the large slit in your fingertips.
“Then I have perfect timing.”
“That’s an understatement.” you mutter under your breath.
Jungkook takes a deep breath as if he was pulling your emotions from the air around the two of you. His chest rises as he inhales deeply, preparing himself to face the bitterness in your words.
“What is that supposed to mean?” he finally asks you, pulling out the ribbon from the top of his head.
There is silence as you watch him run his fingers through his hair. The dark strands have started to dry, making him look more like a wolf than a rain soaked puppy. The loose curls that were starting to form were new, but maybe they had always been there and you just never noticed they existed.
You were starting to realize how vast the depth of the unknown was when it came to Jungkook.
“Y/N?” he nudges your knee with his palm.
You stare at him, trying to read between the lines of his features for any sort of clue as to where you should go from here. Yet the longer you stare, the larger the fire in the pit of your stomach grows.
“Do you remember the first time you stumbled into this bar Jungkook?”
“Barely.”
“Well, it wasn’t much different than this. You were so drunk you could barely keep your head up. I remember watching you from the stage as you crashed into one of Namjoon’s pack members. I had never seen Hoseok as angry as he was when you knocked his bourbon out of his hand. I thought he was going to rip your head off before Namjoon could intervene. They were going to toss you in the dumpster in the alley and let the rats eat you, but I begged them to let me look at your injuries, to make sure that you weren’t going to bleed out. Hoseok tried to warn me then that you were bad news, that a lone wolf without a pack could only bring trouble. I think I’ve finally realized now what he meant by that.” you try to hold back the tears as the memories of every single stitch you sewed into Jungkook’s skin threatened to make this ten times harder than it needed to be.
“What are you trying to say?” Jungkook asks, pressing his palms together in the way he always does when he is annoyed.
“Once I finally got you stitched back together, I stepped out to get you some ice water. It was last call so Namjoon was busy behind the bar so I helped him out with a few drinks. I was gone for only a couple of minutes but by the time I got back to my dressing room you were already gone. You had managed to sneak out like a thief in the middle of the night.” you laugh. “I mean, I guess you technically are.”
“I’m not a thief, Y/N.” he corrects you.
“How am I supposed to know that, Jungkook?” you ask, unable to hide the hurt in your voice. “Ever since you stumbled into this bar the first night, everything has been on your terms. You show up when it’s convenient for you and disappear like smoke. If it weren’t for Namjoon and Yoongi, I’m not even sure I would believe that you’re real.”
“I’m here now, aren’t I?”
“But not for long, right? Isn’t that what you told Namjoon?”
You’ve backed him into a corner with your words. He looks at you like he is completely lost, unable to understand the ice in your voice.
“Y/N-” he reaches out towards your hands, making you back away from his reach.
“I don’t want to hear it Jungkook, whatever excuse it is this time.” you sigh. “I just don’t want to hear it.”
Out of the corner of your eye you see Jungkook’s hands tighten into fists, his knuckles go white as he squeezes the tension into his joints. “You know what I do, Y/N.”
“No, Jungkook. I don’t. I barely know anything about you. That’s the entire problem! Everything has been on your terms since the day we met. You come here it’s convenient for you and leave once you’ve had your feel. Have you ever stopped to think about how that makes me feel?”
His lips press into a thin line and you have your answer.
“You’re a selfish son of a bitch.” you shake your head, leaning forward to rest your elbows onto your vanity.
“Do you think I’m doing this because I want to hurt you, Y/N?” his voice comes out like a low whisper.
“If you’re saying you do this to protect me you can walk out right now.” you hiss, staring at him through the mirror.
“What do you want to know?” he asks you, folding his arms into his chest.
“It’s too late.”
Jungkook leans forward and grabs the back of your stool. You wish you had locked the wheels as he pulls you towards him, but you know that wouldn’t be enough to stop him from using his wolf strength.
He spins you around to face him, “Something tells me that’s not true.”
You scoff, crossing your arms before you turn your head to stare at the rack of dresses, wishing you had worn anything other than this.
“I’m not like Yoongi or Namjoon. I wasn’t born a wolf. I didn’t grow up in a pack. I was a human up until three years ago.” he takes a deep breath, his voice shaking as if this was the first time he has ever told anyone else this story.
“What happened?” you ask, turning your attention back to him.
“When I told my dad that I didn’t want anything to do with the spot in his company he had been saving for me since I was born, he kicked me out. I was sleeping on couches, working shitty jobs in the back of restaurants or anywhere that would take me. Eventually I started to work for Heejun down at the shipyard. At first I was only loading and unloading the containers from the ships. I didn’t know what was inside of them, they were all under lock and key. And heavily guarded.”
He takes a deep breath. “I was there really late one night as a ship from Japan had arrived late due to a typhoon. There was something off, a thickness in the air that made Heejun anxious. He didn’t stop pacing until the ship was fully docked and even then he kept checking over his shoulder as if he was worried someone was going to attack him. Eventually they did. We were ambushed as soon as the first container was loaded into the warehouse. The only thing I remember is one second I was talking to Heejun and the next I was flat on my back, bleeding out.”
“When I woke up, everything was different. My vision was sharp. My sense of smell was so strong I could smell the rotting garbage coming from the dumpsters on the street despite the fact that I was six stories up in an apartment. And that’s when I realized that I wasn’t dead, but something had happened to me.” he starts to stutter through the last words.
“Heejun turned you.” finish for him.
Jungkook shakes his head. “No, Heejun and the rest of my coworkers were slaughtered that night. I was turned by the pack who attacked us. I guess there was something about me he liked, so instead of dumping my body into the harbor he decided to turn me at the last second.”
Jungkook lifts the sleeve of his shirt to expose the bite mark you had seen hundreds of times. He watches your hand move slowly from your lap towards the scarred tissue and closes his eyes the moment your fingertips make contact. You trace the jagged outline, barely able to wrap your head around what it must have felt like for him to go through that, alone.
“It’s funny how I was running away from a life I had no control over, but it still ended up that way anyway. I don’t know how much Namjoon has told you about wolves and their packs but you’re under the alpha’s control. You have to listen to every order. Your body obeys every command. If you’re not a top dog, you’re fucked. I was forced to join his company. To earn my living through his business. The containers weren’t full with what the documents said they were. They were full of drugs, weapons, whatever Siwon and his pack could get their hands on in order to make money on the black market.”
“Is that why Namjoon doesn’t like you?”
Jungkook smirks, “I don’t think that’s the only reason. Haven’t you ever seen how he looks at you?”
“We did fuck once, one night after a really busy night and the two of us had way too much to drink. But we both agreed that it was for the best that it never happened again.” You shake your head. “But don’t try to change the subject.”
“I’m not, just pointing out the obvious.”
“Continue.” you encourage him courtly.
“The beef between Siwon and Nmajoon goes way back, before I was ever turned into a wolf. It’s rare for a city of this size to contain two wolf packs. They were one pack at one point, but Siwon wasn’t happy with how Namjoon ran things. He didn’t understand why wolves were forced to work for the enjoyment of men. Eventually they got in a huge fight and Siwon was able to separate himself from the pack although no one came with him. So he started to turn people like me into wolves. And eventually the company and his pack grew into what it was.”
"If they hate each other then why have I never seen Siwon around? He’s never shown up at the bar.”
Jungkook shakes his head. “Siwon knew that if he causes trouble he can lose everything. That Namjoon has the connections to take him and his entire operation down. So he kept the peace. The two packs acted like they had no idea the other existed. ”
“So why did you leave?” How did you leave? Namjoon told me it’s almost impossible for a wolf to leave his pack.“
Jungkook chews on his bottom lip. "I killed almost all of them.”
You know enough about pack dynamics to understand the weight of Jungkook’s actions. “ How?”
“We were at the docks, like always, doing Siwon’s bitch work as we waited for a shipment of cocaine. It was one of the largest orders we were receiving so Siwon had almost every single one of us there that night. My pack had a long history of violence, killing anyone they thought was a threat to their operation. That night a woman was out late with her child. The boy must have been no older than two. You could see in her eyes that she was exhausted and that he must not have been able to fall asleep so she brought him out for a late night walk, hoping that would be enough to get him to go to sleep.”
You interrupt him. “I don’t want to know the rest.”
Jungkook nods. “That was when I realized how far I had fallen. I had realized that this wasn’t how I wanted to live my life. I knew that the only way I was going to be able to escape was to kill them. So I did.”
“You did what?”
Jungkook looks at you with a devilish grin. “I killed his entire pack.”
“Is that why you always leave?”
Jungkook’s eyebrows furrow. “I always come back, don’t I?”
You avoid answering his question. "How did you end up in Namjoon’s bar that night?”
Jungkook nods. “I knew this was one of the only places that his mean wouldn’t cross. A lone wolf wasn’t as much of a threat as a whole pack. But I also know that Siwon would eventually seek out his revenge. That he would come looking for me if he knew I was still in town. So I left. I come back when I know he is out of town and leave once he returns.”
“If your paths never cross then how did you end up with his?” You point at the gash on his eyebrow. “Who was it?”
“There was only one thing left for me to do to gain total freedom.”
You look him in the eyes, staring into his dark irises as you finish the rest of his story. “You killed Siwon.”
“I did what I had to do to protect myself. And to protect the things I love.”
You stare at him, trying to keep the beating of your chest silent as you hope you aren’t reading too much into his words.
Jungkook leans forward, a red flashes across his irises, illuminating the black pupils for only a second before the color disappears. You know that he is on the verge of his senses. That soon the two of you will cross a line into territory you had told yourself over and over again that you would not step back into. His breath tickles your neck as he hovers above your sensitive flesh. You take a deep breath, trying to control your body’s urges every time the wolf is this close to you.
"Are you scared of me, Y/N?” he asks, chuckling in amusement as he hears your heartbeat start to race.
“You’re not the baddest wolf I’ve ever met.” you counter, watching in anticipation for his reaction.
He looks at you out of the corner of his eye, hesitating for a second before diverting his attention to your lips. Jungkook’s chapped lips press into yours with a several month long hunger. Each of you starved for the other’s affections as you re-learn how each other moves. Although it doesn’t take long for the first moan to slip from your lips as he uses his sharp canines to nibble onto your bottom lip.
The touch of his skin has always been warm, but in the dead of winter you know you don’t stand a chance. His fingertips trace a pleasurable burn down your body as he runs one hand down your back and uses the other to tangle his fingertips into your hair. Jungkook’s arms wrap around your waist tightly as if he is scared you’ll disappear if he lets go. As if you could do anything else but kiss him back.
“Come here.” he breathes, giving you a chance to breathe as he lifts you out of your chair, keeping a firm grip around your waist as he clears the bottles of skincare and tubes of lipstick off the top of your vanity. It all falls to the floor with a thud, leaving him with enough space to prop you up against the mirror, letting your head fall gently against the glass before he returns to kissing every inch of skin he can reach with his lips.
“You look fucking amazing in that dress.” he growls in his lower register. His hands traveling across the light blue silk as he tries to control the wolf inside of him. He has already ruined too many of your prettiest dresses and he knows you might actually try to kill him if he destroys this one too.
“Well, you are the one who bought it for me.” You remind him, taking in as much oxygen as you can as he moves from your lips to your neck. His kisses trailing the plunging neckline.
Jungkook’s hands make their way down to your thighs and your whole body shudders. He swiftly spreads your thighs far enough apart to allow his body in between your legs.
“Fuck.” you moan at how assertiveness turns you on as he is the only man who can make you compliant. Your body listening to every word he says, reacting to every single touch, he had you under a spell as if you were a wolf and he was the full moon.
“Can I touch you?” his hands hover over the top of the slit, waiting for permission.
“Please.” you breathe, spreading your legs even further apart to make things easier for him to access.
He doesn’t waste a second more before his fingertips find their way to the lacy fabric of your underwear. Jungkook looks down at the light colored fabric, smiling as he traces the floral pattern.
“If you destroy them, I’ll kill you.” You warn, mourning the countless pairs of underwear the wolf had ripped to shreds over the years.
“It looks like you already have.” he teases, as his finger swipes along the damp patch growing at your core.
He teases his calloused fingertips up and down your clothes slit, making you whimper in anticipation for what he is about to do you, as he has done countless times before. But there is something different about tonight. A sense of urgency filling the room as he hastily grabs onto your underwear, pulling them down and off your ankles before discarding them somewhere into the depths of your dressing room.
The dulling ache of your position against the vanity mirror is nothing in comparison to the heat starting to spread across your body. Jungkook’s fingertip has made its way to your clit, teasing the sensitive bud with quick flicks that make your bite, nibble and moan in the werewolf’s mouth. He starts to pull away, but you quickly grip the back of his head with your hand, keeping his mouth close as he wanders down your throat, licking along your pulse.
A loud moan escapes your lips as you feel his canines graze your skin carefully. Jungkook was reckless, but he was smart enough to know better than to bite you, knowing the implications of leaving his mark on your skin. He takes your moment of vulnerability to sink a finger into your center, groaning as he slips the digit in your wet heat. He starts to move his finger back and forth, mimicking the motions of what he wanted to do to you later.
“I don’t have much time.” you warn him, reading his mind as he slips in another finger into you. You would love nothing more than to lay him on his back and fuck until the two of you were a panting mess on the floor, but the night was still young. And as much as you loved fucking the wolf in front of you, you had bills to pay.
Jungkook leans back to look at you, removing his fingers to take a glimpse at the mess he was making out of you. He asks. “Is that a challenge?”
You roll your eyes at the wolf coming out the man. “Are you going to pay my rent?”
“I can, if you let me.” he scoffs.
You reach out towards his shirt, pulling him as closely as you can. “Touch me.”
He doesn’t need to be told twice.
Jungkook pushes your legs a part, staring into your eyes as he inserts two of his fingers back into you. He revels in the way you close your eyes, letting your head fall back against the mirror as he fucks you with his digits. He knows your body like a map, knowing where and when to apply pressure that makes you see stars behind your eyelids. You used to be ashamed at how easily he unraveled you with just a fingertip, blushing at how easily he made you come undone. But it had been months and you had missed this (although you would never admit it out loud).
“Fuck!” slips out of your lips as he uses his thumb to apply pressure to your clit, rubbing circles on the sensitive bud as he continues to fuck you into bliss with his hand.
“Come on, baby.” He encourages, recognizing the change in your breathing pattern. He quickens his speed, allowing his muscles to take over as he fucks you closer and closer to the edge.
“I’m gonna cum!” You breathe, rolling your hips to take his fingers in as far as they can and it all becomes too much. You turn into a gasping mess as you grips onto the wolf’s shoulders, bracing yourself as waves of pleasure take over your body. Jungkook’s fingers refusing to stop until the last one finally settles in your toes.
“Come with me.” Jungkook whispers as he rests his forehead against yours.
You laugh. “I’m pretty sure I just did.”
The werewolf shakes his head. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then what do you mean, Jungkook?” You ask him for clarification.
“Tonight. Come with me tonight. Leave with me.” There is a desperation in his voice that shocks you, making you realize that even throughout all the times you have stitched up the man in front of you, you had never seen him this vulnerable.
You reach up towards the mess of dark waves on his head and run your fingers through the strands, gently pulling out the knots that somehow always seem to form. The growing silence between the two of you is your answer, but you know you need to say it out loud. “Jungkook, I can’t.”
His eyes flutter open, staring into your soul with their dark irises. “Why not?”
“I have a job!” You cannot hide the frustration in your voice. “I have an apartment. My friends are here. I can’t just leave them Jungkook.”
“I will pay to have someone pack up your things, to ship them to wherever we end up. Or I can just fucking buy you new things.” He starts to plead.
“Jungkoo-”
“Please, Y/N. Please let me protect you. Let me take care of you.”
You wrestle your wrist out of Jungkook’s grip, neither one of you realizing he had a hold on you. You can’t bring yourself to look at him, choosing to focus on the rack of dresses in the corner instead. You blink several times, refusing to let the wolf see you cry over him.
“You don’t believe me, do you?” He asks in defeat, sinking back down into the chair you had stitched him up in.
The truth is, you want you. You want more than anything to believe that he would take care of you. That he would be able to keep you safe from the constant supernatural threats that have entered your life since the moment you stepped foot into this shitty seaside town. Except the responsible part of your brain was screaming at you to remember Namjoon, Yoongi, and the rest of the wolves you had in your life that kept you out of harm’s way the second Jungkook disappeared again. You had a life here, and while it may not be much on paper, you loved it.
“I don’t know what to say.” You admit out loud.
Jungkook immediately stands up. “You don’t have to say anything. I-I-I just thoug-.”
“I’m surprised you thought I would go with you, Jungkook. How am I supposed to believe anything you ever say to me? How much time have we actually spent together outside of this room? How many times have you told me you would come back only to disappear again. Do you have any idea how that makes me feel? How worried I get about you? I am terrified that one day you’re going to end up dead and I am only going to find out about it months later. So how can you expect me to just drop my entire life and run away with you?”
He turns away, giving you the cold shoulder as he can’t bring himself to answer your question. His shoulders shudder slightly and for a second you think the wolf in front of you is crying. But Jungkook quickly turns around without a tear in sight. The warmth in his eyes were gone, leaving nothing but blank empty spaces in his irises.
He was shutting down.
“I guess that’s it then.” He tells you coldly, straightening his back to remind you how much taller he is.
“Jungkoo-”
He interrupts you. “I don’t want to hear it. I think you have made your feelings clear. I apologize for everything I put you through, but after tonight I won’t bother you ever again.”
You clamp your mouth shut as you watch him dig through the pockets of his pants. He hands over a small purple velvet pouch. “Take it.”
The taste of blood fills your mouth as you bite the inside of your cheek as you try to distract yourself from the pain filling in your chest as you take it from his hands. You open it, revealing a silver chain and pendant. A heart shaped locket hung at the end of the chain, but it was too wide to be an ordinary locket.
“You don’t have to open it.” He tells you just as your fingertips reached for the hinge. “It’s full of herbs that will keep you safe. Vampires, demons, witches. Even wolves.”
You can feel the tears start to break from your bottom lash line. “Thank you.”
Jungkook shrugs. “It’s the least I can do, after everything I have put you through. Please, take care of yourself, Y/N.”
The sound of his footsteps are the final straw and you feel your heart break into a thousand pieces as he closes the door behind you, leaving you alone to pick up the pieces once again.
You don’t know how much time has passed or how many tears you have cried before you can finally feel the pain in your chest turn into a dull ache. You sniffle, reaching towards the tissues to wipe the mascara tears away from your cheeks. If you go back out into the bar Namjoon and everyone else will know you’ve been crying. That tonight is just like every other night when Jungkook was involved.
With a deep breath you try to pull yourself together. You powder your face and touch up your lipstick before running your fingers back through your hair and putting each strand back into place. You don’t bother trying to find the underwear you had been wearing, choosing instead to pick a fresh pair from the stock you kept in your vanity. It was after the third time you and Jungkook had slept together that you realized you needed to keep extra clothing in stock as he couldn’t always keep the wolf inside of him in check.
You turn around, taking your time as you look around the dressing room. There was nothing that he hadn’t touched. That didn’t have a memory attached to the man that had just walked out of your life for the last time.
What really was keeping you here? The seaside town was never meant to become your home. It was supposed to be temporary. A place where you could find your footing after leaving college. You were only supposed to stay for a few months, but then it became a few years. Sure, you loved your job. Namjoon, Yoongi, and the rest of the boys took care of you. They made sure you had what you needed but there wasn’t room for growth. It’s not like you could get promoted. This is all there was. And you knew that.
Maybe it was time for you to leave, for you to figure out what the hell was out there in the rest of the world.
“God damn it, Jungkook.” You mutter under your breath.
You lift the light blue silk off your frame and quickly change into your every day clothes. Your fingers fumble with the buttons of your jeans as you try to get them on. The sweater gets stuck on your head, making you question if this was the universe telling you to stay in place.
You take a look around your dressing room, trying to figure out if there was anything else you couldn’t leave without. You yank a few dressed off the hangers, shoving them and the light blue dress into your bag that becomes full to the brim.
“That’s it.” You say goodbye to the room, smiling at all the memories you’ll hold dear in your heart.
As soon as you open the door and step out into the bar, now full to the brim with customers, you make eye contact with Namjoon. The glass he was washing in his hand comes to stand still as the two of you stare at each other from across the room. He shakes his head knowingly, telling you in his own way that he knows exactly what you’re doing and just wants you to be safe.
“If he hurts a single hair on your body, I’ll gut him alive.” Yoongi whispers as he walks past towards his piano.
“You and me both.” You smile before weaving your way through the crowd and out the door.
The rain had stopped, leaving behind puddles and pavement that that reflected the dim street lights. The smell of smoke drifts through the night breeze from the docks and Jungkook’s handiwork. You hope that there wasn’t too much damage to the piers surrounding Siwon’s. Those people didn’t deserve to have their source of income damaged. They were innocent.
You look around, trying to figure out what direction the wolf could have gone. It certainly wasn’t towards the dock, so you turn around and walk in the opposite direction. You steps quicken as you cross every deserted street. There was no one around, not a single wolf in sight. You reach the end stretch of town and have to make a decision. You can turn left and go home or you can turn right and see what lies ahead of you on the outskirts.
The overwhelming fear of being too late rises in your chest and you hope that this wasn’t the case. You back a decision and turn towards the right and immediately slam into what feels like a brick wall.
“Why are you walking home late at night, by yourself? Have I not told you a hundred times to be smart?” Jungkook growls.
“I was looking for you, you asshole!” you cross your arms in front of your chest.
“Why? So you can tell me how fucking terrible I am?” Bitterness lace his words.
You smack him as hard as you can in the chest, but his body barely moves. “Jeon Jungkook, if you ever leave me like that again, I am going to gut you myself!”
“Okay, Yoongi.” The wolf rolls his eyes before finally processing the words you had just said. He takes a step closer to you, hesitantly reaching out to hold your waist. “What did you just say?”
You stare at him, reaching up to brush his hair out of his face. “I said that if you ever leave me like that again, I am going to gut you myself.”
He presses his forehead against yours. “I promise, I won’t.”
You take a deep breath. “I want to believe you, Jungkook. I really do.”
“I’ll prove it to you.” He pulls you in closer, unable to hide the eagerness in his voice.
“Please don’t make me regret this, Jungkook. Please don’t make me regret falling in love with you.” You stare back at him.
“I won’t. I love you too much to ever let you out of my sight.” he places a gentle kiss on your lips before whispering. “Now where do you want to go?”
You take a second to think as a gust of cold air sends a shiver through your spine and gives you your answer. “Somewhere warm.”
Jungkook smiles. “I think I know the perfect place.”

Fiyero And The Wizard
Tumblr media
The Emerald City glimmered in the fading sunlight as Fiyero sat by the window of the train, his excitement nearly tangible. He had received a personal invitation to meet the Wizard of Oz himself, a rare and extraordinary honor. Elphaba had warned him against trusting the Wizard, but curiosity and hope for answers had driven him to accept the invitation. Perhaps the Wizard wanted to make amends for the chaos he had caused in their lives.
The train screeched to a halt at the station, and Fiyero stepped off, greeted by the bustling streets of the Emerald City. He marveled at the shimmering green buildings and the vibrant crowd as he made his way to the Wizard’s castle. The guards at the entrance stepped aside without question, and the massive doors creaked open, revealing a grand, candlelit hall.
At the far end, the Wizard stood, draped in his signature robes. His gloved hands clutched an ancient, ornate book—the Grimmery, a tome of forbidden magic.
Tumblr media
“Fiyero!” the Wizard greeted with a disarming smile. “It is an honor to finally meet you face to face.”
Fiyero approached cautiously, bowing slightly out of respect. “The honor is mine, sir. But why have you called me here?”
The Wizard’s smile grew, though something unsettling lingered in his eyes. “You have a charm about you, Fiyero. A natural charisma that I believe the people of Oz need... desperately.” He gestured to the Grimmery. “I have a proposition. Join me, and together we can bring order to this land. We can rid it of chaos and those who threaten our way of life. Starting with Elphaba.”
Fiyero’s chest tightened at the mention of her name. He shook his head firmly. “I won’t betray her. I won’t be a part of whatever you’re planning.”
The Wizard sighed, his expression darkening. “I had hoped you would see reason. No matter. There are other ways.”
Tumblr media
Before Fiyero could react, a high-pitched screech echoed through the hall. A winged monkey darted out from the shadows—Chesery, the Wizard’s loyal servant. In a blur, Chesery pounced, restraining Fiyero with alarming strength. The monkey’s claws dug into his arms as ropes appeared, binding him tightly.
“What are you doing?” Fiyero struggled, his voice laced with panic.
The Wizard ignored him, opening the Grimmery and flipping through its pages. Ancient symbols glowed on the parchment, and his voice grew low and guttural as he began to chant in an unfamiliar language
Fiyero watched in horror as the Wizard’s transformation unfolded before his eyes. The older man’s features shifted and smoothed like clay under an unseen sculptor’s hands. Wrinkles faded, leaving a youthful glow, and his once-proud frame shrank slightly, adjusting to match Fiyero’s lean build. His gray hair lightened in streaks, cascading into shades of rich brown and golden blond.
As the glow of magic dissipated, the Wizard stepped back from the Grimmery, his face now identical to Fiyero’s. It was perfect—eerily perfect. The bound prince couldn’t look away, dread curdling in his stomach as if he were staring into a twisted reflection of himself.
The Wizard opened his eyes, catching his new appearance in the grand mirror before him. He let out a low chuckle, his voice now Fiyero’s smooth, confident tone. “Oh, this... this is exquisite.”
Tumblr media
He tilted his head to one side, examining himself with almost theatrical enthusiasm. Running a hand over his jawline, he smirked. “Such symmetry. No wonder the ladies—and perhaps even a few gentlemen—fall over themselves for you. This face alone is enough to make kingdoms bow, isn’t it?”
Fiyero snarled, straining against the ropes. “Stop this! You’ll never get away with it!”
“Oh, but I already have,” the Wizard shot back, not even sparing him a glance. He was too busy admiring his reflection, tracing his cheekbones and brushing his fingers over his lips. “And these lips...” He let out an exaggerated sigh, puckering them playfully. “So... kissable. Do you practice this in the mirror, Fiyero? Or does it just come naturally?”
He turned sharply, striding toward Fiyero with newfound grace. His movements were fluid, confident—a predator who knew his prey was already caught. Standing inches away, he gestured to his chest with a flourish. “And look at this,” he said, tugging his collar slightly to reveal the firm definition beneath his shirt. “Your body’s built like it’s been sculpted by the gods themselves. How do you find the time to stay this... perfect?”
Fiyero clenched his jaw, refusing to give the Wizard the satisfaction of a response.
But the Wizard was far from finished. His hands traveled down to his stomach, where he gave an exaggerated gasp. “Oh, my! These abs!” He patted his stomach mockingly, then flexed, his smirk widening as he felt the firm ridges under his fingertips. “I didn’t realize you were hiding such a masterpiece under those princely clothes. No wonder Elphaba can’t resist you. Who could?”
Fiyero’s struggles grew more frantic. “You’re a coward, hiding behind my face! You’ll never be me!”
The Wizard barked a laugh, stepping back into the light to examine his thighs and legs. “Oh, Fiyero, I don’t need to ‘be’ you. I only need to wear you.” He leaned down, running his hands over his thighs and giving another exaggerated whistle. “And these legs. Strong. Sturdy. Built for running... or perhaps something else entirely?” He waggled his eyebrows, his mocking laugh echoing through the hall.
“You’re disgusting,” Fiyero spat, his voice shaking with fury.
“Disgusting?” The Wizard tilted his head in mock confusion before grinning slyly. “No, my dear boy. Disgusting is what I’d call letting a body like this go to waste. But don’t worry. I’ll make the most of it.”
He turned his attention to his backside, giving it an exaggerated pat. “And this,” he said, smirking as he glanced over his shoulder. “Well, let’s just say it’ll be the talk of the Emerald City soon enough. I’m sure even the guards will be doing double-takes. Tell me, Fiyero—have you ever noticed how perfectly this uniform frames... everything?”
Fiyero seethed, his face burning with anger and humiliation.
The Wizard bent closer, his voice dropping to a low, taunting whisper. “It must feel awful, doesn’t it? Watching yourself—your body, your charm—become mine. Knowing there’s nothing you can do to stop me.” He stood upright again, laughing softly. “And the best part? When I’m done, the world will thank me for it. They’ll love me. They’ll love you.”
Turning back to the mirror, the Wizard struck a dramatic pose, adjusting the collar of his blue and gold outfit with a flourish. “Well, Fiyero, it’s been delightful getting to know myself.” He laughed at his own joke. “But I think it’s time for you to disappear.”
“Chesery!” he called, his tone snapping into command. The winged monkey appeared from the shadows, bowing low. “Take him away. Somewhere no one will ever find him. Somewhere he’ll have plenty of time to think about just how perfect I look.”
Chesery seized Fiyero, dragging him toward the shadows despite his desperate struggles.
The Wizard—now Fiyero—watched them go, his smirk widening as the real Fiyero’s protests faded into silence. Turning to the mirror one last time, he admired his stolen reflection, running a hand over his hair and tilting his head with a grin.
“Oz,” he whispered to himself, his voice laced with triumph. “You’re about to meet your perfect hero.”
With that, he turned on his heel and strode toward the castle doors, radiating the effortless charm that only Fiyero Tiggular could muster.
There would be no resistance, no rebellion. No happy ending for anyone.
He had succeeded.
And the world of Oz would never be the same.

Onychinus Base (Part 2)
Location: N109 Zone
Details:
The rest of the known information about the base was covered in Part 1. In this post, we'll cover everything we know about Sylus' bedroom (which is surprisingly a lot!) and wrap up with my theorized floorplan. A majority of this information came from Sylus' "Midnight Stealth" Memory.
I've split the room into the following sections for clarity:
The Bedroom Entrance
The Fireplace Side
The Shelf Side
The Bed Side
The theorized floorplan will be at the end of this post.
The Bedroom Entrance:
The entrance of the bedroom is shown a couple of times throughout "Midnight Stealth". When the protaganist first enters, we see a space to her right and the shower/bathroom beyond it. Directly in front of it is a black and red rug. To its right, we can see a perch for Mephisto and a small chest on the floor. If you look closely, you can see the backs of two mirrors just ahead of the perch.
Tumblr media
In a few different scenes, we get glimpses of the bedroom door. Combining the details shown is how I constructed the sketch of the door included in the floorplan section.
The Fireplace Side:
When she rummages through Sylus' bedside table, we can see Mephisto's perch in the foreground, the edge of a black and gold chair, and a potted plant (top). Later in the memory, when she ambushes him in his sleep, the panning shot shows that there's a fireplace and two chairs between the bed and the shower (bottom). In the bottom right image, you can see the corner of both the bathroom/shower rug as well as the chest placed beside it.
Tumblr media
The Shelf Side:
This side of the room is shown in the Main Story as a background shot (top). When it's shown in "Midnight Stealth" (bottom), the only major differences are a dresser added beside the couch and a table where the Main Story had placed a lamp. On this table is a telephone.
(Sylus' room is so dark and shadowy. For that reason, the bottom left image is an unaltered screenshot while the bottom right image has been brightened)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sylus is shown reading, we can see a black painting with a red square in the background (left). This same painting is shown when he is selecting a record from his collection (top right). When he turns around to use the record player, we can see the top of a plant just around the corner (bottom right).
Tumblr media
The Bed Side:
When Sylus is shown dusting a shelf, we can see the previously mentioned potted plant to its left. To its right is a table with another plant (top).
And in the ambush scene, when both of them are on the bed, we get a glimpse of a potted on the other side of the bed (bottom).
(Again, the images on the right side are unaltered while the one on the left have been brightened)
Tumblr media
When Sylus sits up, we can see a blurred view of the shelf he was dusting before (left). It is placed just past the foot of the bed.
In both the panning shot from the ambush scene (top right) and when they are both on the bed (bottom right), we can see a window on the other side of Sylus' bed.
Tumblr media
Theorized Floorplan:
Phew, that was a lot 😮‍💨😂 But thanks to all of that, I was able to map out his whole bedroom
Tumblr media
And based on the images below (top), I was able to sketch what the bedroom door potentially looks like (bottom).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Outside his bedroom is yet another room, but I've reached my image limit for this post. So I guess that means, part 3?

The luxurious black car purred quietly as it pulled into the long driveway of the Norris estate.
Jacob sat in the backseat, arms crossed and lips pressed into a pout. His usual cheerful demeanor was nowhere to be found, and the chauffeur, Matteo, glanced nervously at the rearview mirror.
"Master Jacob, we're almost home," Matteo said gently, hoping to lift the boy's spirits.
Jacob didn’t reply, staring out the window with a deep frown.
When they reached the grand front entrance, Matteo stepped out and opened the door for Jacob.
The boy climbed out, clutching his school bag tightly, and trudged up the steps. Matteo watched him with concern before heading inside to inform his employers.
Lando was in his study, going over business papers, when Matteo knocked and entered.
"Sir, Jacob seems upset. I thought you’d want to know."
Lando frowned and stood immediately. "Where is he?"
"He’s in the living room, sir," Matteo replied.
Lando found Jacob slumped on the couch, staring at the floor. His school bag was tossed haphazardly on the carpet.
"Jacob," Lando said softly, sitting beside him. "What’s going on, buddy?"
Jacob didn’t look up. "Nothing."
"Doesn’t look like ‘nothing’ to me," Lando said, ruffling his son’s hair. "Talk to me."
Before Jacob could reply, Y/N entered the room, her kind eyes immediately scanning her son’s face. "What’s wrong, sweetheart?"
Jacob hesitated, his small hands clutching his knees. "I got in trouble at school."
Y/N sat on his other side, concern etched across her face. "Trouble? Why? What happened?"
Jacob bit his lip, clearly reluctant to explain. Lando exchanged a glance with Y/N, who gave a small nod.
"Alright," Lando said. "We’ll call your teacher and get to the bottom of this. But first, tell us what happened, Jacob. We’re not mad, we just want to help."
Jacob finally met their eyes, tears brimming. "There’s this boy... Ethan. He was being mean to one of the younger kids at recess. He pushed him, so I told him to stop."
Y/N’s heart melted at her son’s protectiveness, but she stayed quiet, letting him finish.
"And then?" Lando prompted.
"And then Ethan said I should mind my own business. So I... I pushed him back," Jacob admitted, his voice trembling.
Y/N wrapped an arm around him. "Oh, Jacob."
"The teacher saw, and I got in trouble for pushing," Jacob said. "But I was just trying to help!"
Lando’s jaw tightened, his protective instincts kicking in. "Did you tell the teacher what Ethan was doing?"
Jacob nodded. "But she still said pushing wasn’t okay, no matter what."
Lando sighed, his hand running through his hair. "Alright. Your mum and I will talk to your teacher tomorrow. We’ll figure this out, okay?"
Jacob nodded, leaning into Y/N, who kissed the top of his head.
The next morning, Lando and Y/N arrived at Jacob’s school, escorted to the principal’s office by a nervous assistant. Though Lando’s reputation preceded him, Y/N’s calm and warm presence seemed to balance things out.
"Thank you for coming," Mrs. Bennett, Jacob’s teacher, said as they entered. She gestured for them to sit.
Lando’s expression was neutral, but his sharp gaze unsettled the teacher slightly. Y/N, as always, was the first to speak.
"Thank you for meeting with us," she said kindly. "Jacob told us what happened, and we wanted to better understand the situation."
Mrs. Bennett nodded. "Jacob is a good student, and he’s very kind to his classmates. But we have a strict policy against physical confrontation. Even if he was standing up for someone, pushing Ethan wasn’t the right way to handle it."
Lando’s jaw tensed, but he remained silent, letting Y/N lead.
"We completely understand," Y/N said, her voice gentle but firm. "And we’ve spoken to Jacob about how there are other ways to handle conflict. But we’re also concerned about Ethan’s behavior. Jacob said he was bullying another child."
Mrs. Bennett hesitated. "Ethan’s behavior has been noted before, and we are addressing it. However, Jacob’s actions still violated the rules."
Lando finally spoke, his voice calm but cold. "So, the bully gets a slap on the wrist, and the kid who stands up for someone else gets punished?"
Mrs. Bennett flinched slightly under his intense gaze. "That’s not what I’m saying, Mr. Norris."
"It’s what it sounds like," Lando said. "Jacob shouldn’t have pushed, sure. But it seems to me like he was doing the job your staff failed to do—protecting a vulnerable kid."
Y/N placed a hand on Lando’s arm, grounding him. "We’re not here to place blame," she said, her tone still soothing.
"We just want to make sure Jacob isn’t discouraged from standing up for what’s right. Perhaps there’s a way to teach him and Ethan a lesson without making Jacob feel like he’s in the wrong for helping someone."
Mrs. Bennett nodded slowly, visibly relaxing under Y/N’s kind demeanor. "You’re absolutely right. I’ll speak with both boys again and make sure Jacob understands that his intentions were good, even if his actions weren’t ideal."
"Thank you," Y/N said with a smile.
Later that evening, Jacob was back to his cheerful self, playing in the garden with Amelia. Lando watched from the patio, arms crossed as he leaned against the railing.
"You handled that well," he said, glancing at
Y/N.
"You mean we handled it well," she corrected, nudging him playfully.
Lando smirked. "I was ready to pull Jacob out of that school."
"I know," Y/N said, laughing softly. "But sometimes, a little kindness goes a long way."
Lando looked at her, his expression softening. "That’s why I’ve got you."
Y/N wrapped an arm around his waist, resting her head on his shoulder as they watched their children play. "Jacob’s a good boy," she said. "He gets that from you, you know."
Lando chuckled. "I think he gets that from you, actually."
As the sun set over the estate, the Norris family found peace in their little corner of the world—a balance of strength, kindness, and love.

if you accept requests, can i request sunday with an express crew reader who has a fake halo ring on their head because they think that is pretty, they first meet him on the express and went to touch his halo ring thinking it is fake too? i know it is quite long and a bit specific so feel free to skip. And your writing is so good! your little analysis on sunday's wing ADORABLE.
(theirs is just plain sparkly rubber band😭)
hi anon! I do accept requests. and seriously don't worry, I LOVE THE IDEA, it is not at all too specific or long; actually the perfect amount for me to work with.
I would've written this yesterday when you sent the ask, but I was caught up painting (Sunday of all people lmao). also, I'm so glad you like my writing, tysm! hope you like this one, I wrote it really quickly, cos I'm still busy but this had caught my attention for sure.
Tumblr media
Sunday x gn!reader
warnings: none
word count: 400~
One more check in the mirror, yes, it looks good. You nod at your reflection. The golden halo gives the illusion of realness. At least, that is what you tell yourself. It probably looks ridiculous to actual Halovians. Never mind, you smile at your sight in the mirror and head to the main car to greet guests.
Despite visiting Penacony with the crew, you failed to ever meet the infamous Sunday. And he looks even more beautiful in person, it is almost dazing.
“It is a pleasure to meet you.” you chirp, shaking his hand.
“Likewise” Sunday smiles, you can almost hear a choir singing. He looks like an angel. That halo is perfect. Should you ask him for tips? You reach out with your hand. “Your halo looks amazing, how did you make it so perfectly?” and… your fingers pass through nothing. Feeling a bit surprised, you ponder if it is a gadget with a projector? Doubtful. It takes a few moments before you notice that you stunned the poor man.
Sunday dryly chuckles, “It… it is very real, I assure you.” He takes a small step to the side, making his halo move further away from your touch.
To say you blushed would be an understatement. Hoping the Express would crash at that moment just so you wouldn’t have to deal with this situation, “Uh.. I- I am so sorry- I didn’t mean to-“ you fumble with your words trying to salvage the situation.
“I understand. I can see your… pretend one.“ He smiles. You’re internally cursing at yourself and biting the inside of your cheek, could this be any more embarrassing?
“I just think they’re pretty. Angelic, and wonderfully complimentary on a person.” There’s a proud aura around you, maybe you saved the situation.
“Ah, so you’re a flatterer. Thank you, I do agree they are pretty. Although, they are a genetic part of me.” Sunday smiles. Internal high five, you saved the conversation. Except for the fact Sunday looked at you up and down. Is he checking you out? Or judging the way your halo looks on you? Either way, you avert your gaze, swallowing hard. What a bold man.
“I wasn’t trying to flatter-“ No, you gotta be bolder; match his energy, “I know they’re genetic, as I know that your kind can even influence, some of them, how the halo ends up looking.”
There’s a knowing glint in his eyes and an ever-resting smile. “I’ll happily explain how and why… care to get a drink with me and we can sit by one of the windows?” And there’s no way in hell you say no to him.

ESSENCE OF US - CH 14: HEARTBREAK ANNIVERSARY*
Tumblr media
Please read responsibly. This fic will get hot and heavy as the story progresses, 18+ only MDNI | CH 13 | MASTERLIST | CH 15 [soon]
summary: a fleeting encounter with a mysterious Trent leaves you wondering if fate is playing a bigger match. your paths continue to cross in unexpected places as the fragrances around you mirror the growing tension between you. maybe it's just a coincidence..or maybe its destiny in the making.
warnings: drama, angst, fluff, smut, language, short smau, [redacted] wc: ~10.9k (sry lol) song inspo: Sweetness x Elmiene ft. Leon Thomas (fav song rn! so underrated) 💌: heavens gates are closed for me full stop no comma
Tumblr media
“You’re gonna bite right through the pen cap if you keep chewing on it” Trent teased, breaking through the silence in the car. He glanced at you from the driver’s seat with his eyes crinkling in the corners as he caught you with the pen cap clutched between your teeth. You quickly pulled the cap from your mouth and held it tightly in your hand instead.
“Sorry..” you muttered, embarrassed. “I just..ugh. This whole thing feels weird. I just wanna do the creative stuff, y’know?” You glanced down at the folder in your lap. “This other stuff is...just not for me.”
Trent quietly chuckled as the soft pops of his gum filled the space between his words. “You sound like me when I’ve got media duties. ‘I just wanna play football’” he mimicked in an imitated complaining tone.
You slumped back into the passenger seat with your eyes drifting back to the folder on your lap like it was a ticking time bomb. “I just hate that I have to do this..” you admitted quietly. “It’s not like I don’t trust them but..” you trailed off, staring at the window while the car moved through the passing streets.
“Baby,” Trent spoke softly, cutting through your thoughts. He moved his hand from the gear shift to rest it above your knee. “You’re not doing this because you don’t trust them. It’s just to protect what’s yours, yeah? There’s a difference.”
You nodded, gnawing at the inside of your cheek. “NDAs just feel so corporate. Like.. ‘Hi, welcome back to work. Here’s some legally binding paperwork to remind you not to gossip and spill any of my secrets.’ It makes me look like a snob, right?”
Trent laughed and shook his head. “Nah, it doesn’t. It makes you look like someone who built something amazing from scratch and doesn’t want it wrecked by somebody running their mouth. If they have any sense then they’ll sign the paper without a fuss.”
“Maybe” you sighed, still staring at the folder that held the paperwork. The weight of it felt heavier than it should have for something that was light enough to blow away with the wind. “It’s not just about the store though... it’s everything. My life, my family...you. And if they’re leaking stuff…”
Trent gave your thigh a gentle squeeze, sensing your spiralling thoughts. “And that’s exactly why you’re doing this. If Ziggy didn’t catch them it could be way worse by now. First it’s believable rumours, then it’s ‘Trent’s secret baby mum spotted in Liverpool.’”
You snapped your neck at him, eyeing him with annoyance. “Out of all the things to come out of your mouth...why would you say that? That’s not even funny Trent..I’m sure there are girls lining up for that opportunity.”
“I’m just saying,” he added, laughing softly. “Better to nip it now than deal with stuff like that later. It’s not like you’re firing them or anything. You’re being smart about your business.”
Maybe he was right, but that didn’t stop the feeling of your stomach twisting from anxiety. You tilted your head back, staring at the roof of the car like it could give you some sort of divine intervention to avoid this whole mess. “This is going to be so awkward..” you groaned with your dread evident.
Your thoughts drifted to your assistants who had become such a big part of daily life at Les Notes d’Amour. Tara always had an infectious energy that made the store feel a little brighter. She was bubbly, and sometimes way too chatty for her own good. It wasn’t hard to picture a LFC loving uni student spilling something to someone without realizing how far it could spiral, whether it was accidentally or not. Ember was the complete opposite of Tara, and was often sharp, calm, and systematic. Her precision was one of the reasons you hired her in the first place. It was always like she was two steps ahead of everyone else, and you liked that since you were an overthinker. You knew you could always count on her to get things done while you were away. She didn’t seem like the gossiping type, but you didn’t really know much about either of them outside of Les Notes.
“Maybe I should’ve done this when Camille mentioned it” you quietly acknowledged as the storefront came into view. “Or maybe I should’ve just let her dad handle the hiring process. That would’ve saved me from this headache.”
Trent steered into a parking spot in front of the shop and cut the engine. “Nah. It’s better coming from you. Your store, your rules.”
His optimism was appreciated, but your mind was already racing as you wondered how the conversation could go. Would Tara burst into tears and make it more awkward than it already was going to be? Would Ember cross her arms and roll her eyes over something so trivial? Or even worse, would one of them get offended enough to quit on the spot?
You chewed on your lip, staring at the folder as if it could detonate at any second. You didn’t know what to expect, despite trying to come up with every possibility in your head. The uncertainty was the worst part of it. They weren’t just assistants anymore; Tara and Ember were an essential part of your business now. The thought of finding someone else to fit into your carefully built world felt exhausting if they took this upcoming conversation the wrong way.
“I don’t know if they’re going to take it well…” you trailed off, not wanting to open the car door and go inside.
Trent leaned over and unbuckled your seatbelt for you. His fingers brushed against your arm as he spoke softly. “You’re overthinking it baby,” he said. “It’s just to protect yourself and what’s yours.”
You nodded, but the thought of Tara breaking into tears or Ember giving you the cold shoulder made the knot in your stomach tighten. You were supposed to be teaching them how to make batches of Rêveur today, but the little folder in your lap could completely derail your plans for the day. With a sigh, you stared at the Les Notes d’Amour gold lettered sign through the car’s window before stepping out of the car, gripping the folder tightly against your chest. Trent followed a few steps behind you, giving you the space you needed to handle things on your own. When you walked toward the store, you could hear the faint sound of humming coming from inside. The sound of Tara’s bubbly energy already made you feel like your heart was about to beat out of your chest. It really wasn’t that all that deep, but in your mind it felt like the world was about to crumble beneath you.
The door jingled as you stepped inside and Tara stood at the counter, arranging a set of fragrances into neat rows, her glasses slipped down her nose slightly from the concentration. She glanced up when she heard the door and her face lit up with her usual bouncy enthusiasm.
“Oh! Hi, Y/N! Morning, Trent!” she chirped. “You’re early today!”
Ember was across the room, sorting through email requests for custom fragrances. She glanced over briefly, nodding in acknowledgement. “Morning” she said in her usual direct tone before returning back to her task.
Trent nudged your shoulder gently before wandering toward your workstation. He picked up a few of your scent vials and held them to the light, inspecting them like they were a puzzle he was trying to solve. He opened one and gave it a sniff, frowning curiously as if he was mentally cataloguing the notes of each vial. A boutique filled with delicate glass and the constant hum of creativity wasn’t his world, but somehow he fit in perfectly. It comforted you, even if the pressure of the conversation ahead felt heavier than ever.
“Tara. Ember..” you said, clearing your throat awkwardly as you gestured toward your office in the back. “Can we talk for a few minutes?”
Tara immediately froze with her hands hovering over a glass bottle. “Oh.. yeah, of course! Is everything okay?” Her voice was chipper, but you could sense the nervousness creeping into her tone. Ember pushed back her chair and stood up with her usual composure. “Sure,” she said simply, but her gaze flicked between you and the folder in your hands before she followed Tara to the back. You caught Trent’s eye as you passed him and he gave you an encouraging smile.
“You got this baby” he mouthed before turning his attention back to the vials.
The air felt suffocating as the three of you settled into your office. Tara sat down immediately and folded her hands nervously in her lap, while Ember leaned into her chair with her arms crossed. She had an unreadable, but not unfriendly expression. You set the folder down on the desk and took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to say while both girls stared back at you.
“Sooo. Umm..” you began in a shaky voice. Your hands were clenched together in your lap as you tried to will yourself to stay calm. “First off..I just wanted to say how much I appreciate both of you and everything you do. Both of you are an important part of this place. I mean that.”
Tara smiled nervously and Ember tilted her head, studying you like she was waiting for you to get to the point.
“But..” you continued in a hesitant voice. “Something happened recently. There’s been some information about me that’s been leaked online these last couple of months. Nothing huge..but enough to make me feel like I should probably set some boundaries..okay?”
Tara’s nervous smile disappeared as she fidgeted with the bottom hem of her top. “I– I swear I didn’t mean for anything to happen.” she stammered in a trembling voice. “I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time! I never wanted to hurt you or anything. I’m so sorry.”
Ember glanced at the folder in front of you, curiously. “What kind of boundaries are we talking about?” she asked in a calm but direct tone.
You opened the folder and slid two copies of the NDAs across the smooth surface of the desk. “It’s not about anything specific, really” you said, trying to sound as neutral as you could be, even if you were kind of lying.
“It’s more about making sure everything that happens here stays here. I just need to know we’re all on the same page and that anything you hear or see working here doesn’t leave these walls.”
Tara’s eyes darted to the papers in front of her and then back at you. “Oh my god. This is because you’re pregnant isn’t it?” she blurted out. “I only mentioned it in my group chat! One of my friends messaged SpillTheBeans after I said not to. I really didn’t mean for it to –”
“Tara I’m not pregnant” you cut her off with an awkward laugh, trying to diffuse the tension. “The only baby I have is this place. Which is why I need you to sign this paper.” You pulled out a pen, tapping the ballpoint against the signature line. “Just sign here and we’ll be good.”
Tara’s eyes went wide as she bolted upright in the chair. “Oh my god, I thought I was getting fired!” she blurted out, clutching her chest like the words were exhausting her. “I’ve been waiting for it to happen for days. I even texted my mum and asked her if I could move back in…she said no, by the way!”
Her rambling spilled out so fast you could hardly keep up. Even Ember gave her a side eye.
“What? I’m not…no. You’re not fired Tara” you reassured, trying to keep your tone calm despite her dramatics. “It’s not that serious. We can just move forward from it, okay? Just don’t let it happen again.”
Tara reached for the pen so fast she almost knocked it off the desk. “Yeah, sure! I’ll sign whatever you want girl!” she exclaimed while scribbling her name on the line. “You could tell me you’re actually secretly dating Jude Bellingham right now and I’d take it to my grave.”
“Um, no. That’s definitely not happening” you replied, trying not to laugh at the thought of you dating Jude in some twisted alternate reality.
Ember leaned forward next when Tara handed her the pen but her movements were slower. She picked up the pen and twirled it between her fingers to read through the paperwork before signing her name. “Yup. Seems fair” she replied plainly, sliding the paper back toward you. When you reached to pick it up, Ember’s phone vibrated against the desk surface. She snatched the phone quickly, trying to silence the buzzing noise.
“Sorry. Just my boyfriend making dinner plans,” she muttered before placing her phone into her pocket.
“Okay...I’m not that strict, Ember. I don’t care if you use your phone.”
Ember shrugged and brushed her fingers against her pocket to make sure her phone was tucked away. “He’s just.. really big on planning. Always wants everything figured out ahead of time.”
You smiled to try and lighten the mood. “Oh! He’s like me then? I always need to plan for everything.”
“Yeah something like that.”
Tara leaned forward to chime in eagerly. “My boyfriend is the total opposite. He’ll text and ask to grab a drink and then suddenly it’s a whole night out. Spontaneous dates are the best though!”
Tara was a yapper. You didn’t know why she was suddenly oversharing. Maybe it was to compensate for leaking rumours about you, but either way, your eyes were glazing over from her talking so much.
“Oh! Since we’re all booed up, we should do a triple date sometime!” she added, looking between you and Ember with excitement evident.
You raised your eyebrow and gave her a deadpan look that made her backpedal immediately. “Okay..okay. Too soon. Got it!”
“Very” you replied while laughing and shaking your head. “But speaking of planning things out…Trent and I are going away for a bit so I need to make sure everything’s running smoothly while I’m gone.”
“Oohh, it’s giving holiday vibes” Tara chirped with a smile. “Where are you going? Somewhere boujee like Dubai I bet. Be careful though. I heard the girlies go there to–”
“Yeah, no. Dubai’s not on the list. Definitely somewhere sunny though” you smiled back, keeping it vague because the last thing you needed was people leaking your location, even if you did just make them sign an NDA. “We just need some time to recharge for our anniversary. That’s why I’m gonna teach you how to make Rêveur today.”
Tara clapped her hands together excitedly while Ember scribbled down things in her notebook. “Finally! I’ve been dying to learn. It’ll be so fun to say I helped make Rêveur. Iconic.”
“Uh, yeah...fun. We have to get everything exactly the same every single time though. No shortcuts. If one thing goes wrong the batch will be ruined and people will notice, trust.”
Ember glanced up from her notebook with her pen mid air. “No pressure or anything, right?” she laughed. “Is there anything specific we should know?”
“Not trying to scare you,” you began with a reassuring smile. “But the oils can burn if you’re not careful so just keep an eye on them, okay? It’ll turn the whole batch rancid and you don’t want to smell that.”
Ember moved her pen across the paper, noting everything down with focus. “What’s the safe range?”
“Maybe 70 or 80 degrees” you recited, getting into your own element. “Anything higher and it’ll burn. Anything lower and it’ll separate. Just don’t turn the heat off completely unless it gets really out of hand.”
Tara was listening with wide eyes, but she looked confused as hell. “Wait..do we just..guess if it’s too hot or not? This is exactly why I switched my major to public relations. I’m more of a vibe person.”
“That...definitely explains a lot honestly” you joked. She cringed, catching your shade about the leaks. “Just follow Ember’s lead. She seems like she’ll be good at this.”
Just as you led them to the other room to start, Trent casually strolled in and gave you a quick kiss on the lips to which Tara let out a dramatic ‘aww’.
“So cute,” she cooed.
Trent leaned in close to your ear, whispering. “Fancy a train ride after this?” He pulled out his phone, showing the date at the top of his home screen, which featured a photo of your smiling face.
“Maybe” you dragged the word out, trying to push him away from you because he was starting to distract you. “Go stand over there T. Every time you distract me I mess something up. Move.”
“Damn” Trent drawled, stepping back with a grin with his hands up in defeat. “Didn’t know I was a hazard.”
You rolled your eyes and turned back, refocusing your attention on the task before you. “Okay!” you said, clasping your hands together while looking at Tara and Ember, who were now watching you closely. “Starting with the base note blend…”
Both girls nodded as you continued to speak. Ember jotted something down in her notebook and Tara leaned in, determined to follow along closely and learn despite her initial confusion earlier. You grabbed the first vial and smiled to yourself.
After this, I can really relax. Seriously this time.
The lesson went a lot smoother than you expected. Ember was quick to learn and caught on easily. Tara was a little slower but seemed to be enjoying herself and asking questions to make sure she understood correctly. You had original apprehension, but everything felt like it was under control this time. Once everything was cleaned up and instructions were finalized, you dismissed your assistants for the day. Tara waved with enthusiasm and promised to remember everything she learned. Ember gave you a quick nod and smile before heading out as she typed away on her phone and disappeared through the door.
An hour later, you and Trent pulled up to an area that looked nothing like Lime Street.
“T…I thought you said we were going on the train?” you asked inquisitively. “This is just a building. I’m confused.”
Trent looked smug as he parked the car. “I said train ride, yeah? I didn’t say where or how.”
You gave him a side eye while unbuckling your seatbelt. “Nuh uh. This feels like a set up. What are you up to?”
Trent laughed as he got out of the car and jogged around to open the door on the passenger’s side. He extended his hand out to help you. “Baby relax. You’re gonna love it.”
You took his hand and creased your brows while narrowing your eyes at him. “I’m not convinced. This looks like a place where someone would pull off a heist or something.”
“Nah. Nothing like that,” he reaffirmed while leading you to the building with your hands intertwined in his.
The moment you stepped inside, your skepticism turned into curiosity. The space was dimly lit and the faint sound of train wheels clicking on tracks played in the background. You adjusted your eyes and took in the sight of a perfectly crafted train interior that somewhat mimicked the train you took the day you ran into Trent for the first time.
Your jaw dropped. “No way…”
Trent squeezed your side, pleased with your reaction. “It’s an escape room.”
You spun your face at him, confused all over again. “An escape room? What does that have to do with–?”
“Look closer” he said, gesturing to a seat where a hoodie and a pair of sunglasses were carefully placed. “Ring any bells?”
The realization hit you like a freight train. “No. You didn’t…”
“I did,” his grin widened. “I figured it would be more fun than just taking the train again. Thought we could relive the day with a little twist, y’know?”
You looked around the room, your heart swelling with affection. “You had them recreate our meet cute? This is…”
“Romantic?” he finished your sentence smugly, proud of his accomplishment.
“Cheesy as hell” you corrected him, but you couldn’t stop smiling. “But I love it.”
“Thought you might” he said, tugging you toward the seat with the hoodie. “Let’s see if we’re smart enough to get out of here.”
The first clue was tucked into the hoodie pocket. It looked like the same hoodie Trent wore the day you met him. A slip of paper read:
What starts with the sun but ends with the moon?
You groaned, holding it up for him to see. “Okay..what does that even mean? The sky?”
Trent smirked and leaned against the seat like he knew the answer, but didn’t want to give it to you just yet. “Nah baby. Just think about it.”
You glanced back at the clue, still confused. “Um, I am thinking about it..I really don’t know. A sunset? Time?” You threw out ideas, suddenly remembering the cheeky comment you made about his hoodie and sunglasses that day. “Wait..is it an eclipse thing?”
“Close. Think simpler.”
Your mind churned before it finally clicked for you. “A day!” you blurted out. “Starts with the sun and ends with the moon.”
Trent nodded, grinning as he reached into a luggage rack to pull out an envelope. “I knew you would get it eventually.”
You snatched the envelope from his hand, rolling your eyes. The second clue had a small calendar drawn on it with a single number circled – 22. The day you first met.
“Okay. Too predictable Trent..”
“Is it?” he asked. “Could just be the start of a combo…”
The two of you scanned the fake train car, piecing together the rest of the lock combination from the small details that were hidden throughout the room. There were train tickets tucked into a seat pocket, coordinates of London and Liverpool printed on a travel map, and a tiny key taped underneath a windowsill. After solving each clue, you ended up with 2206 as the final code.
“2206. What’s the 6 from?” you wondered out loud.
Trent smiled as he punched the code into the lock box near the door. “That’s the platform the train left from. London to Liverpool..platform six.”
Your jaw dropped again as the lock box opened. “How do you know that? You didn’t even get on at that stop.”
Trent shrugged and pulled you into a quick kiss. “That day is burned into my brain forever. Had to do my research.”
You shook your head and ran your fingers along his jawline lightly before opening the next compartment. “You really went all out for this. Kinda scared of what you have planned for our official anniversary.”
Inside the compartment was a miniature bottle of a fragrance. “Musk” you said, sniffing the vial thoughtfully. “This was in the escape room? T, did you take this from–”
“Nah, I had nothing to do with that one.” he interrupted, holding his hands up. “Just the universe messing with us again.” He took the bottle out of your hand and sniffed it. “Maybe we could add it as one of the last ingredients? And make it unisex so anyone can wear it..”
His suggestion made you smile while you watched him analyze the scent in a similar way he did with bergamot that fateful day on the train. “That’s...actually not a bad idea. But we need one more to balance it all out.” You didn’t have your notebook with you, so you quickly pulled out your phone to type it into your notes app. You reached for Trent’s hand to intertwine it with yours to pull him along to the next clue. “I can’t believe you had them do all of this for us..”
As you turned the corner, the scene shifted to a football themed section. There was a goalpost, a whiteboard, and lockers lining the wall. Trent’s eyes lit up instantly and you knew you lost him to his competitive side.
“Aight” he began, cracking his knuckles and stepping forward. “My time to shine.”
You stifled a laugh. “Baby you’re not on the pitch. It’s just an escape room.”
Trent smiled as he took in the sight of the room. “Doesn’t matter. I’m still gonna win.”
Amused by his determination, you egged him on. “Okay vice captain. Lead the way.”
The football themed section had Trent written all over it. The lockers were labelled with Liverpool legends like Gerrard and Dalglish. On the whiteboard, a series of Xs and Os formed a tactical setup with a question written above it:
What year did Liverpool win their first European Cup?
Trent snorted and crossed his arms, like the question was something ingrained in his memory. “Easy. 1977. Rome. Borussia Mönchengladbach.”
The board beeped as a hidden compartment clicked open and revealed a small key. You scoffed at him in disbelief. “How do you know that? You weren’t even born yet.”
“History baby,” he replied. “Can’t wear the badge without knowing where it came from.”
You handed him the small key, shaking your head. “Nerd.”
“Maybe. But I’m a nerd who just unlocked the next step.”
Trent slid the key into a lock on the side of a locker and the door swung open to reveal a small podium holding a mini golden football. Another note was propped up beside it that read:
Score a goal, but don’t forget to hit the crossbar first.
“Oh here we fucking go” you muttered. “They’re really feeding into your ego now.”
Trent grinned as he pulled you in for a kiss. “You could be supportive like a normal girlfriend…”
You laughed and cupped your hands around your mouth to slip into your best commentator impression, mocking him with your support. “The man with the golden touch..stepping up to the challenge of a lifetime.”
“Keep it up and I’ll miss on purpose.” he teased, setting up the ball.
“You won’t” you shot back. “I’ll boo you…”
Trent lined up his shot and took a few steps back. The ball sailed into the air and struck the crossbar with the only type of ease your boyfriend could accomplish.
“WOW WHAT A HIT!” you yelled, jumping up and down like you were in the Kop. “Alexander-Arnold with a stunning strike!”
Trent turned, grinning ear to ear as he pointed at you. “You’re not bad at that…but it’s not good either. Gotta work on the commentator voice.”
You stuck your tongue out at him and moved over to the makeshift goalpost. “Okay. Let’s try this then. I’m the keeper now.”
Trent gave you a curious look, wondering if you were serious, but when you didn’t move, his look turned into amusement. “You gonna try to stop me? Alright. No mercy baby.”
You clapped your hands and bounced on your toes like you saw keepers do on match days. “I’m channelling my inner Alisson Becker. You’re not getting past me T.”
Trent set the ball down again and shook his head at your antics, but he was enjoying every second judging by the smile that hadn't faltered from his face. He took a few steps back, focused and ready while you spread your arms dramatically across the goal.
“And it’s Y/N L/N in goal!” you yelled in your best – yet below average, commentator voice. “Can she keep Trent Alexander-Arnold from clinching the game?”
“Not a chance,” Trent whispered under his breath, smirking. You really thought he would take it easy on you but he didn’t. He didn’t have to try too hard and the ball flew into the net easily. You lunged for it, trying to make the save, but your foot did something weird, making you tumble to the floor and land on your side, groaning. Trent jogged over, trying and failing not to laugh as he crouched beside you.
“You okay baby?”
You rolled onto your back, squinting up at him while rubbing your hip. “Fuck. How does Ali do this? He makes it look so easy.”
Trent reached out a hand to lift you to your feet. “You have the heart for it..I’ll give you that.”
You took his hand to let him pull you up as you brushed yourself off. “Next time I’m saving it.”
“Next time, huh?” He wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you close. “We’ll see. It’s game over for now, though.”
The final compartment snapped open with a thud, revealing a small envelope. Trent grabbed it, beaming as he opened it up. Inside was a handwritten note:
Congratulations on finding your way out! Here’s to your next adventure together.
Alongside the note were dinner reservations on the date of your official anniversary. You weren’t familiar with the restaurant, but the name sounded familiar – Lovebirds. Next to it, an itinerary to go to St. Barts, featuring photos of a private villa with direct beach access.
You blinked at the papers in Trent’s hand, struggling to process the details. “Wait..what is this?”
He turned the envelope toward you so that you could see it better. “Dinner plans for our anniversary. And St. Barts.” he confessed with a smile, still not faltering. “Private villa, just you and me. Direct beach access and no distractions.”
“You planned all of this?”
Trent laughed and folded the papers to tuck them back into the envelope. “Well I had some help, but yeah. Thought we deserved something special.”
You threw your arms around him and gave him a kiss. “I don't even know what to say. You’re too sweet.”
“Don’t say anything,” he murmured into your hair. “Just show up in your bikini.”
You laughed, pulling back to look at his face. “I love you..and I’m really glad you sat next to me on the train that day.”
Trent’s eyes softened as he played with the necklace around your neck. “Same here. I can’t imagine living life without you baby. I love you too.”
The two of you made your way back to the car, hand in hand as the sun started to set over the horizon to create a cotton candy sky. “What's next?” you asked.
“Let’s go eat and figure out where the night takes us?” He recommended. “Unless you wanna make another perfume note in the car..”
You burst out laughing and swatted at his chest. “You’re such a boy.”
---
The next few weeks passed by way too fast, but they were filled with happy milestones. When Ezzie and Ziggy’s 16th birthday rolled around, it was celebrated with Trent’s family instead of your parents. His mum and dad took over hosting duties and transformed their home into a comfortable space that was overflowing with kind heartedness and laughter. Celebrating with them felt more natural than it ever did in the cold confines of your parent’s picture perfect home. Trent’s parents took your siblings in without any hesitation, and treated them like they were their own children.
The day of their birthday kicked off with Ziggy’s signing day. He officially joined Liverpool’s U18 team. The dimpled grin on his face was infectious as he showed off his new kit. The back of his shirt proudly displayed “L/N” in bold lettering and the number he chose: 16. You assumed he chose it because he signed on the day of his birthday, but you really didn’t know for sure.
“Sixteen huh?” you mocked as he spun around in the room to make sure everyone could see. “Let me guess...some deep meaningful choice about this being your year or something?”
Ziggy was enjoying the attention and smirked. “Nah, not everything has to be deep. I just like the number.”
“He’s lying!” Ezzie interrupted. “It’s because Trent wears 66. He just changed one number.”
Ziggy glared at her and flung the kit to lay on his shoulder. “Damn. Just let me have this.”
“Bubby..” Ezzie said sweetly, tilting her head as she used a childhood nickname that always wound him up. “You can have it. Just not without me calling you out first.”
Before your brother could retort, Dianne’s voice floated in from the living room. “You two..let’s save the bickering for later. We’re celebrating, remember?”
Trent’s dad popped his head into the kitchen, tongs in hand. “Z, you think you have what it takes to make first team one day? Come outside, let’s see if you can get past me.”
“You? You’re too old.. I don’t wanna embarrass you at your own house.” Ziggy scoffed, heading toward the garden in disbelief. “You’re not even the best defender in this house right now.”
“That would be me,” Trent chimed in, leaning against the fridge while smiling.
“Nah, it’s me.” Tyler cut in, walking in the room with Marcel trailing behind him. “I’d be out there instead if I didn’t give it up for you.”
Marcel snorted. “Bro you haven’t defended anything since I was a baby.”
You stood next to the counter, slicing a piece of cake. “A family full of stars here, huh? Football, fashion...and whatever Tyler is claiming these days.”
“Aye” Tyler interjected. “I’m a dad. And I work.”
“Do you? Because the girlies are saying PLG is a money laundering scheme” you raised your brow, genuinely asking and not trying to throw shade...or maybe you were throwing shade.
The whole house burst into laughter, Marcel’s being the loudest of all despite not doing much more than Tyler. You took a bite of the white chocolate raspberry birthday cake, savouring the sweet flavour while everyone scattered around the house to do their own thing. Your anxiety still existed, but seemingly melted away once you were surrounded by the people you cared about the most. You took another bite of cake, surveying the warmth and love filling the house.
I could get used to this. This is nice.
The days following the twins birthday were a blur of activity. Ezzie’s modelling career was in full swing, and her first campaign with Miu Miu took off. Your sister’s face now adorned billboards and screens in New York, Paris and London. She was kind of iconic for someone who had just turned 16, and you were living for it. Your mum had definitely ate her words, rightfully so.
Meanwhile, Camille was splitting her time between Manchester, Paris, and Barcelona. Her relationship with Jules grew stronger with every passing day and the two of them were officially the most fashionable couple you knew. Camille’s voice hummed through the phone one day as you shuffled around your newly expanded wardrobe in you and Trent’s home. You were partially listening while you went through your clean laundry, trying to place everything in their new spot.
“I think Jules might be my soulmate” she gushed with her voice tinged with dreaminess that was very out of character for her. “I’ve been planning out outfits for the next month and he just gets it Y/N. He even coordinates with me sometimes. Who is this man?”
You froze mid fold, barely believing your ears. “Camille? Camille Saint-Clair??” you said slowly, dragging out her first name and surname for emphasis. “Is this my best friend? Soulmates and coordinating outfits with a man is crazy.”
She groaned but the dreaminess in her voice was still unmistakable, the girl was in love. “Shut up. I just– I may be falling for him a little. But I’m still me.”
“Anyway,” she added, trying to switch the subject back to you. “What about you and your lover boy? Where are you two going for your anniversary?”
You filled her in on Trent’s surprise escape room debacle and the upcoming trip to St. Barts, to which she simply responded:
“Don’t get pregnant. Use your butt..or mouth. Seriously. There’s an epidemic out here and the world doesn’t need anymore Aquariuses or Pisces.”
You giggled and shook your head. “Isn’t your dad a–” “Yeah, he is.. so trust me when I say that. Use your butt girl.”
Before you could fully recover from Camille’s out of pocket advice after ending the call, Trent walked into the bedroom shirtless with a towel slung over his shoulder from just getting out of the shower.
“What’s so funny?” he asked, stretching his arm behind his head as he sprawled out on the bed.
You made your way to the bed and sat on top of him. “Camille,” you smirked, grazing your hands over his toned abdominal muscles. “She gave me some interesting advice for our anniversary.”
“Should I be worried?”
“Nooo” you sang, leaning over to kiss him. “I think we’ll have enough time for me to use all three holes.”
“Three holes? Huh??”
Before you could explain, Trent’s phone rang with a FaceTime call. You glanced at the screen to see Jude’s name flashing across the screen. You groaned and picked up the phone to answer, turning the phone toward Trent’s face, but Jude started talking before either of you could speak.
“Aye! What’s good bro? What are you up to?” Jude’s smile filled the screen.
“Just chilling,” Trent replied, sitting up slightly with his hand palming over your thigh, gently massaging your soft skin. “Why? What’s up?”
“Mate, I’m scheming. Me, Jobe, Toby – lad’s night out at the club. You down?” Jude waggled his eyebrows for emphasis, already sold on his own plan.
Trent shook his head. “Nah. Not tonight man.”
“Bro come on,” Jude groaned, throwing his head back in annoyance. “It’s been ages. Don’t do me like this. I’ll keep the girls away so Y/N won’t get mad.”
You cut in with a pointed tone. “Jude..he’s not going anywhere tonight.”
Jude squinted at the camera, trying to figure out where your voice was coming from, but he didn’t realize you were the one holding the phone until you turned the phone back to your face. “Y/N don’t tell me you’re one of those girls. He’s a grown man..let him have some fun.”
“Jude it’s the night before our anniversary” you noted firmly. “Fun doesn’t include babysitting you lot.”
“Babysitting? I’m not a child” Jude protested. “Well..maybe Jobe is but I’m capable of looking after myself.”
“The child in question can drive and cook..you can’t.” you quipped, turning the phone back to Trent. “Tell him, T.”
Trent laughed and shook his head. “Sorry man. Boss has spoken. You understand.”
Jude sighed dramatically, acting like somebody had just broken his heart into a thousand pieces. “Fine, ditch us for Y/N. But don’t come complaining when you realize what you’re missing. Proper memories being made without you, for sure!”
Trent smirked, raising his hands higher on your thigh which made you erupt into a fit of giggles. “I’m good with the memories I’m about to make. Next time though.”
“Ah, fair. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. Happy anniversary by the way!”
At Les Notes d’Amour, things had fallen into a pleasant rhythm that you were comfortable with. Ember and Tara managed to keep the Rêveur production on track without any hiccups. There were no other unexpected leaks, no missed steps, and no drama – just the way you liked it. There were a couple of moments when Tara’s bubbly personality led her into long tangents about footballers or her latest obsession with matcha boba. You occasionally had to step in with a gentle “Tara.. focus,” but overall, the shop felt stable in their hands.
With your anniversary creeping closer, you found yourself balancing preparations for your trip to St. Barts and figuring out how to celebrate with Trent before your flight. You hadn’t given him the watch yet, saving it for the perfect moment.
But today was the day.
You stood in front of the mirror that night, adjusting your dress. As you zipped it up halfway, you heard Trent’s footsteps behind you.
“Need a hand?” he asked in a low voice.
You turned a little to look at him through the mirror. A flashback of him fucking you while you watched in the mirror flashed across your mind. “Are you offering to help or to undo it? Because last time you said you were going to help…”
“Both” he replied instantly, stepping behind you to slide the zipper the rest of the way up. His broad hands caressed your sides and he scanned your figure in the mirror. “We’ll just save the other part for later. Or we can have a quickie…”
The warmth from Trent’s breath tickled against your neck as his hands lingered on your waist to pull you flush against him. The smell of Rêveur and your perfume wrapped around you to create the most perfect, intoxicating scent that paired amazingly well together. His eyes met yours in the mirror and darkened, filled with a mixture of love and carnal desire.
“Don’t” you warned, swatting his hand playfully. “We have all night and next week for that.”
“I’m just appreciating the beautiful view” he said smoothly, running his hands up and down your sides. He leaned in closer to the crook of your neck, inhaling softly. “You smell so good. What did you decide to name this one?”
You smiled and adjusted the petaled drapes falling across your shoulders. “It’s called Vanille Étoilée.” You caught his gaze in the mirror and continued. “It means starry vanilla in French. Sweet like honeyed vanilla, warm like amber, but soft enough to stay on my skin for a long time like the stars in the sky. Thought it was fitting because it compliments Rêveur pretty well..”
“Vanille Étoilée” he repeated. Surprisingly the French words rolled off his tongue with ease despite his scouser accent. “I like it.” Trent dipped his head down to kiss the corner of your jaw and trailed the kisses down to your collarbone. “Smells…” He paused and placed another kiss on your skin while inhaling you again, “so fucking good.”
You turned around to press a hand to his chest and stepped back. “Okay..enough. You can’t just jump straight to dessert. Have some decorum.”
Stepping into Lovebirds felt like stepping into an ethereal fairytale. The outside world was replaced with an atmosphere that was enchanting. Golden lighting pranced off lush greenery that framed the private alcoves scattered throughout the room. Each one was designed to give diners a sense of secluded romance. There were ornamental branches stretched above with interwoven leaves and lights to give the ceiling a romantic glow. You could hear a subtle twine of acoustics playing a gentle tune to add to the ambiance.
Trent’s hand rested on the curve of your back and his fingers grazed the exposed skin. “This place is nice” he murmured in a whispered tone as his gaze shifted from one part of the room to another.
“Yeah, it is. The name is really fitting innit?” you replied, glancing up at him with a smile. The place truly did feel like it was designed with soulmates in mind. There were multiple details that echoed the love and connection shared between lifelong partners. You followed the host as they led you to a table nestled beside a trickling indoor fountain.
The table may as well have been a piece of art itself. There was a delicate feather motif that ran along its edges and two menus were placed neatly on top of silky soft cloth. Both menus were embossed in gold lettering with your names, which caught you by surprise. Trent definitely had used up all his creativity with the escape room idea, so there was no way in hell he had any part in the decor for the table. But if it wasn’t him..who did?
The waiter approached minutes later with a carefully balanced tray of artfully crafted drinks.
“Good evening” he began with a warm smile. “To start, we have two cocktails inspired by our esteemed guests.” He set a golden hued drink in front of Trent first.
“This is the Golden Hour. It has a blend of whiskey, ginger beer, and a touch of citrus, topped with golden edible flakes. It’s got strength and finesse, much like Mr. Alexander-Arnold’s touch on the pitch.”
Trent tilted his head, amused and curious as he lifted the drink to inspect it. “Golden Hour?” he mused, swirling the drink slightly to watch the edible flakes diffuse across the liquid. “Can’t argue with that.”
“And for you” the waiter continued, placing a glass in front of you. “We have the Moonlit Muse. It’s a delicate mix of lychee, vanilla vodka, and champagne served with an iridescent shimmer. Sweet and complex, inspired by your work and artistry as a perfumer.”
You took a sip, feeling the sweetness of the lychee and fizziness of the champagne intertwine to create a perfect start to the evening. “This is incredible” you complimented with a smile. “Thank you!”
The food was just as impressive. Trent opted for a ribeye steak that was charred to perfection and served with truffle butter, garlic mashed potatoes, and seared shrimp. Your dish was a salmon fillet plated with saffron and champagne cream sauce that rested on a bed of wilted spinach and buttered baby carrots. There was a garnish of edible flowers on the plate, making it almost too pretty to eat.
The chef approached your table shortly after you both finished eating. She was dressed in a cleanly pressed chef’s coat with her name embroidered elegantly on the chest. She clasped her hands in front of her.
“I hope the evening has been everything you hoped for lovebirds” she cheered in a joyful tone.
You blinked, staring at her for a minute before you realized she was the same chef from the private cooking class you had with Trent the day you made things official. “Wait..you’re the chef from the class we took last year!”
Her smile widened and she nodded. “Yes, that’s me. I didn’t think you would remember.”
“Of course I remember!” you exclaimed, feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over you. “We nearly burned down your kitchen with our nonsense.”
“Best date we ever had so far. Hands down.” Trent added, smiling back at the chef.
“I can’t thank you two enough” The chef spoke proudly. “The night the video went viral I started getting all sorts of requests for catering, private events, cooking classes and it just snowballed from there. When this space became available.. I couldn't resist it.”
“Wow” you breathed, glancing around at the beautifully curated space with new appreciation. “That’s really amazing. This place is stunning.”
“Thank you” she responded sincerely. “I owe you two more than you know. That night wasn’t just a turning point professionally. It reminded me of why I love what I do. Seeing the joy on your faces that night..even covered in flour, was a reminder of what food can bring to people. I just wanted to say thank you..for everything.”
The waiter appeared again, carrying two perfectly risen soufflés. The delicate tops were dusted with powdered sugar and you could smell the faint aroma of chocolate wafting through the air. The chef grinned as she set the desserts in front of you. After taking a quick photo with the chef, you could finally dig into your soufflés.
“Enjoy lovebirds! Happy anniversary!” the chef cheered, holding a hand over her heart dramatically as she walked away to head back to the kitchen.
You scooped your spoon into the airy dessert. “Mmm, finally! This was so worth it. Best soufflé ever.”
Trent nodded in agreement, savouring his first bite. “Third time’s the charm, huh?”
After finishing dessert, you turned to Trent with a sly smile and reached into your clutch to pull out a carefully wrapped box. You slid the box across the table toward him. “This is for you..”
Trent’s curiosity piqued as he grabbed the box and unopened it with care to reveal the watch with the midnight blue dial and moon phase indicator. “Damn. This is nice!” he excitedly yelled out while clasping the watch onto his wrist. “What’s this thing on here?”
“It’s a moon phase indicator. So you don’t have to google when the full moons are anymore.”
Trent looked up at you, his brown eyes filled with adoration. “Not gonna lie. This might be the best gift I’ve ever gotten.”
You rolled your eyes, assuming he was doing too much over a silly little watch, even if it was expensive. “T..it’s just a watch. I don’t think–”
“Nah. Not just a watch” he corrected you, calibrating the moon phase indicator with his hand. “I feel like I’m always buying gifts for everyone else..so this is nice. I love it. I love you.”
You bit your lip, trying to hide your smile and stop the happy tears that were threatening to spill over your lash line. “Aww baby. Don’t make me cry in public. I love you too.”
Trent leaned over to give you a tender, soft kiss on your lips before pulling back, both of you smiling like idiots at each other. You giggled awkwardly and looked around.
“Sooo..um..where’s my gift?” you questioned him jokingly. “Not that this dinner wasn’t amazing but..”
Trent smirked and leaned back in his chair. “It’s at home. It’s being set up as we speak.”
After another hour of conversation, you finally headed back home to see what Trent had planned. When you made it back to the house, you hopped out of the car before Trent could even put it in park mode.
“Close your eyes,” Trent instructed you as you made your way into the house. You closed your eyelids while he led you up the stairs. “Don’t look yet.”
“I’m not looking!” you yelled, but you were willing your pupils to see through the thin skin of your eyelids.
“Alright, ready?” Trent spoke softly into your ear and positioned you in front of the bedroom door.
“Yes..” you replied impatiently, itching to open the door yourself. “Can I look?”
Trent nodded but he forgot your eyes were still closed, so you both stood there awkwardly for a minute before you spoke up again. “Umm..Trent??”
“Oh shit! I forgot.” He laughed, opening the door. “Yeah, open your eyes baby.”
When you opened your eyes, your breath caught. The bedroom was decorated with balloons that hovered near the elevated ceiling. Illuminated candles softly flickered and danced across the wall to cast shadows that felt alive, like they were celebrating along with you. The bedside table had a rose bouquet that was so large it was almost falling over. On the bed, a collection of gifts were neatly arranged in wrapping paper of your favorite colors, topped with curled and tied ribbons.
Your hand flew to your mouth and your eyes filled with tears. “Trent…”
He leaned into you to kiss you on your cheek. “Happy anniversary baby.”
As the scene washed over you, you traced your fingers over the silk ribbons on the gifts. “I only got you a watch and you did all of this? T this is way too much..”
“Nah, it’s not. Just showing how much I appreciate you.”
Smiling, you sat down on the edge of the bed and grazed your fingers over a smaller box that was tucked behind the others. “What’s this one?” you asked, reaching for it.
Before you could lift the lid, Trent’s hand shot out and snatched the box away from you with a quickness that caught you off guard and made you frown. “Nah! Not that one. You can’t open that yet.”
This box in particular was the engagement ring he was keeping hidden away for another year or two. Whoever was responsible for the setup must’ve accidentally mistaken it for an anniversary gift, nearly ruining the night all together.
You creased your brow and stood on your tippy toes to reach it. “Why not? What’s in it? Let me see!”
“Nope” he laughed as he moved it further out of your reach and nestled it into a drawer. “You’ll ruin the surprise.”
“What surprise?” you questioned him, trying to reach toward the drawer without him realizing, but he was faster than you. He gripped your hand mid air and pulled you into him. You instinctively put your arms around his shoulders and his lips found yours to silence anymore of your protests. You pulled away from him, grinning as you bit your bottom lip. “You’re trying to distract me from that box…”
His face nestled into the crook of your neck and he nibbled on the skin above your collarbone. “Is it working?”
Your hum of approval melted into a soft sigh as Trent’s lips continued to brush against the delicate curve of your neck. With each kiss, he trailed down slower to map out coordinates of love. His hands trailed up from your hips to the bare curve of your back under the silky fabric of your dress. He thumbs padded massaging circles on your skin that made it hard to think about anything other than the feeling of him against you.
“Maybe…” you mumbled in a quiet voice.
“Good” Trent continued peppering you with kisses. “Let me finish distracting you then.”
Trent’s hands traced over the zipper of your dress, slowly unzipping it until the silky fabric was tossed to the floor. “You’re so fucking beautiful” he muffled against your skin, brushing over the laced trim on your panties.
“You’re talking too much” you whined, arching into him to silently beg for more than what he was giving you at the moment.
“Yeah?” His fingers hooked under the lace trim, pulling them down to reveal your slick core. “You want more?”
You nodded, “Please.”
Trent kissed his way down your stomach, nibbling on your skin with his hungry lips. When he finally reached your pussy, he paused, glancing up at you with a cocky look while licking his lips.
“Trent” you panted, gripping the sheets as his breath fanned over where you really wanted him. “Don’t tease me. I need you..”
“Ah..so impatient” he smirked, kissing your inner thigh. He flicked his tongue out, licking a stripe between your pussy that made your back arch off the bed. “Let me hear you baby.”
“Shit” you gasped, gripping his head with your hands as his tongue started working against your clit in a slow, intentional pace that had you squirming and arching underneath him.
“Stay still” he commanded, gripping your thighs to pin you in place. You tried to comply, but you couldn’t stop trying to push your hips against him to chase your high.
The flicks of his tongue and pressure from him lightly suctioning your clit made you moan his name loudly and buck into him. Just as you were about to reach the point of no return, Trent’s phone rang loudly on the bedside table, cutting through your bliss immediately.
“Fuck me” you groaned, pulling a pillow against your face in frustration.
“We’re getting to that part…” he joked, already pulling back from your core to glance at the screen. “It’s Jude.”
“I really don’t care who it is,” you snapped, pulling at his arm to bring his attention back to you and the orgasm you desperately needed. “Do. Not. Answer.”
He pondered for a second like he was torn, but then the phone started ringing again and you could see the gears turning in his head. “I’ll just tell him I’m busy real quick.”
“Trent,” you warned in a dangerously low voice. “I swear if you answer that fucking phone right now…”
“Alright! I’m not answering it” He declined the call, tossing the phone aside. “Happy now?”
“Ask me again after you make me c– oh my god, yesss” your words quickly turned into moans of pleasure as he dove back in, tongue on your clit and fingers curling and thrusting inside of you.
“You taste so fucking good” he whispered, still lapping against your clit with vigor. “Cum for me baby.”
You whimpered his name when his tongue danced against your clit faster. You felt the pressure build and snap all at once before you could warn him, but he didn’t remove himself from your clit and kept licking until you were squirming from overstimulation.
“Mmh, T..I can’t” you begged, pushing against his shoulders. When he finally rose from your core, he licked his lips and trailed kisses back up to your lips.
“You good?” he asked, kissing your neck. “Tell me what you need.”
“I need you to fuck me” you replied, pulling at one of his belt loops so that he would get the hint to take his clothes off. His clothing quickly joined your dress on the floor and he stroked his dick a few times before pushing into your slick folds, slow and steady so that you could adjust to the girth before he started moving.
“Goddamn” he muttered through tight teeth. “You’re so fucking tight. Relax baby.”
“I can’t” you moaned back, gasping for air in between thrusts. “F-fuck. I’m gonna cum again.”
The desperation you had for him made him laugh, stroking his ego as he stroked into you, but it quickly turned into a groan when you rolled your hips to meet him thrust for thrust.
“Yeah, yeah. Keep doing that.” he stuttered, gripping your hips to guide you. “Fuck, baby. Just like that....good girl.”
The wet, slick sounds of your bodies moving in tandem filled up the room, dramatized by your breathless moans of pleasure. The tightness in your core threatened to snap and Trent’s movements became more frenzied as his fingers gripped deep into your skin.
“I love you. I love the way you fuck me” you needily moaned, trying to push him over the horizon. “Cum in me. Please Trent? Fill me up.”
“Shit” he hissed, faltering his hips for a split second to force himself to slow down. “I can’t baby. We said–”
You rocked up against him so more of his cock filled you. The way his jaw clenched in concentration and the way his body shook let you know he was fighting against the inevitable. “Pleaseee. I want it.”
“Fuckkkk” he groaned, holding you in place as he tried to gain control. He moved his hips more slow and shallow. “You’re squeezing me.”
You whimpered and raked your nails down his back as your pussy began to flutter and milk him. “Oh my god, I love you” you moaned over and over again as you came undone around his dick. He filled you up shortly after, his control shattering like glass with one last groan.
“I love you too” he muttered between a kiss attack on your lips. “You’re my everything..my forever.”
“Is that so?” you cooed, wrapping your arms around him to cherish the moment.
While you were enjoying your alone time with Trent, both of your phones were being bombarded with calls and notifications. The internet was set ablaze once again. A little too literally this time around:

What was supposed to be a peaceful and quiet night before a romantic holiday, was cut short by frantic banging on the door. Trent froze and looked around, not expecting anyone at this hour. “What the fuck?”
“Who is that?” you asked, startled by the sudden noise.
“No fucking clue. Did you order something?” he asked back, taking a quick glance over his shoulder.
“No...”
Both of you quickly sat up to get dressed in more comfortable clothing but the banging didn’t stop. While descending the stairs, muffled voices became clearer – more familiar to the ear. Trent unlocked the door cautiously, only for it to fly open with Camille and Jude barrelling in.
“Are you okay?!” Camille’s voice cracked as she reached for you, wrapping you into her arms tightly.
“Huh? I’m fine! Why are you acting so weird?” you asked with a pounding heart.
Jude’s usual playful personality wasn’t there and was replaced by a serious expression instead, like he took pity on you. “Mate..she needs to sit down” he whispered to Trent, who was looking increasingly tense.
“For what? What’s going on?”
Before Jude could answer, headlights and blue flashes from a police car flooded through the windows in an ominous pattern.
When the uniformed officer arrived at the door, he stood solemnly in the doorway. “Is Y/N L/N here?”
Your mouth went dry. “Um..yeah. That’s me” you said softly, stepping forward despite Trent’s attempt to hold you back.
“Sorry to inform you Miss L/N..but your store was destroyed in a fire tonight. It’s been ruled as suspected arson.”
The words hit you like a bus. You weren’t able to process the sentence the officer just delivered. “My store?” you whispered, repeating as if that would make the truth hurt any less. Your knees wobbled and Trent’s arm shot out to steady you. “No…” you added, voice trembling. “That’s not possible. I was literally just there the other day.”
The officer glanced at Trent, hesitating before continuing. “I’m sorry Miss L/N. There’s no saving it. The building is completely gone.”
The moment he ended his sentence the air was knocked out from your lungs. You felt nothing. Suddenly your legs couldn’t support you anymore. You collapsed into Trent’s chest and a broken cry tore from your throat. You felt your heart shatter into sharp shards that could never be repaired or mended. “No, no, no” you repeated, clinging onto Trent to keep you tethered to reality, but his presence didn’t do much to stop the slurry of cruel, twisted dark thoughts emitting from your brain.
“Baby breathe” Trent coached in a low, shaky voice. “I got you.”
You couldn’t do that. Every breath suddenly felt like you were inhaling smoke, suffocating under the weight of words that just kept getting worse the more the officer spoke. Les Notes d’Amour – the place you poured your entire heart and soul into – was reduced to nothing more than a pile of smoky, pulverized ash. All thanks to a series of carefully crafted events that was supposed to be your ‘serendipity’.
It didn’t seem like that anymore after the officer said the names.
“Aaron Caldwell was arrested at the scene, along with Ember Flanagan. Your other assistant, Tara, was found safe at home.”
Your body immediately went rigid. “Aaron?” you croaked, pulling away from Trent.
The officer nodded with a grim expression. “Yes ma’am. It appears he and Miss Flanagan conspired on this together.”
He wasn’t supposed to be able to get to you again, or so you thought. Camille told you she made sure of it. His name carried so much pain that you vowed to never say it again, but this whole situation caught you off guard.
“He wasn’t supposed to..” you whispered in a broken voice. “He wasn’t supposed to be able to get to me again.” You turned to Camille who was now frozen with tears in her own eyes. “Camille you promised me!”
Her face looked guilty, but she had nothing to be guilty for; it honestly wasn’t her fault.
“I didn’t know about Ember,” she stammered. “I didn’t know they were together. I’m so sorry.”
Her apology didn’t register in your ears. Nothing did. Your chest heaved up and down as the panic finally set in fully. Every bad memory, every moment of manipulation and betrayal crushing you all at once. You couldn’t see nor could you hear. All you felt were the walls of life encasing you in misery now that your dream had erupted in flames. You heard distorted voices of Jude, Camille, and Trent trying to comfort you, but their voices barely registered over the one screaming at you in your mind.
Camille crouched in front of you with tears streaming down her face. “Y/N..you’re not alone, okay? We’re here.”
Of course her words were meant to be comforting, but it only made things worse as the ache in your chest grew tighter. “I don’t care!” you screamed, yanking your hands away from hers. “None of this matters anymore! He ruined everything! This would’ve never happened if I never–”
“Baby stop” Trent’s voice was breaking now too. He pulled you into him again, whispering against your ear. “He can’t hurt you anymore. He’s arrested.”
You pulled away, tears streaming down your anguished face as you stared at Trent with a broken, jaded expression. “I’m not talking about Aaron” you choked out, raw and heavy.
“I’m talking about you.”

one and a half-cat

He hadn’t noticed until late in the day. He had stretched, headed to the kitchen while dragging his feet, drunk some water, and retreated with every intention of throwing himself back into bed. It was only a coincidence, born of ingrained situational awareness, that he had caught the sight of something odd atop his head, a blur of an object he couldn’t really pinpoint.
He stands before a mirror, staring at a set of animal ears—the ones of a cat, he thinks—sitting comfortably above his head. Xavier blinks, tries to rub his eyes for good measure. The ears remain there, they twitch when his head tilts—not a headband you had put on him, then. They move on their own, a muscle reflex. Xavier wonders if he can control them. He focuses his attention towards the sounds coming from the open window, where he knows birds often perch themselves. His eyes stay on his reflection, watching as his ears rotate, tuning into the outside noise.
It’s so much clearer and richer than what he’s used to. He can listen well beyond his window, even from outside the apartment complex. Xavier can hear the bird, winds flapping in the air, before it flies down and settles on the ledge. He turns, a strange fixation taking hold of his senses as his eyes take in the small animal. He analyzes any minute movement, and he can’t seem to take his eyes off of it, as if something called him forward.
The soft brush of a feather against his leg breaks him out of the stupor—except it’s not a feather but rather fur. Xavier looks down, a long, fluffy tail sways behind him.
He doesn’t know how it got to this, still has a hard time believing any of it it’s true and not a hallucination inside his head. So he does what any sensible person would do, and goes on to find a witness.
It’s a good thing you like cats. When you open the door, Xavier doesn’t know if you’re going to scream from shock or squeal from excitement. You do a mix of both. He finds it amusing when your face visibly shifts emotions, before settling into something like absolute confusion.
“Why are you, uh, dressed up as a cat?”
“I’m not.” Xavier makes his way to your living room, taking a moment to find a suitable spot to sit on. He gravitates towards the end of your couch, reclining against the armrest where a small, knitted blanket lays. He brings his feet up, clad in just socks. If his sudden posture is strange, neither of you make a comment on it. “I just happened to wake up like this.”
“You just happened to wake up with… cat ears?”
He nods. You watch as his ears twitch, both fascinated and bewildered at the sight before you. “These are obviously fake, right?” You reach for the ears, strange and realistically fluffy. Your fingers dig around his hairline, trying to find a headband, an elastic, or anything to give away the fact that they’re nothing but an adornment on his head. Only, there’s nothing. Nails scratch his scalp as you shift through pieces of hair and Xavier nearly melts at the touch. He closes his eyes, head lolling sideways, and almost to your surprise, goes completely limp.
You hold his face so as to not have him topple over, and he stirs if only slightly, his lips move a fraction, like if he had said something under his breath, even though you can’t hear a word. He doesn’t nuzzle your hand, for that would require some capacity of consciousness—he seems to have completely fallen asleep, under 1 minute no less.
You stand before him, hands cupping his cheeks. He’s asleep and you don’t know what to do with yourself, or with him. You tilt his head, slow and experimentally. To the left—he doesn’t move, and then to the right. His eyes still shut. His face remains squished against your palms. A small pinch, then you pull, stretching his cheek almost uncomfortably. Xavier rustles in your hold, but doesn’t do anything else that might indicate cognizance.
Not knowing what else to do, you decide to gently lay his head down, so it rests on the cushion instead of having his neck painfully craned. Just as you’re about to pull back, his hand suddenly grabs at your wrist. Xavier sluggishly opens one eye, baby blue staring at you.
He murmurs, words sort of muddled. “---gonna leave me?”
“I was… going to let you sleep.”
He lets your wrist go. You watch as Xavier stretches, his fists unfurling and extending like a cat would his paws. “No need,” he shakes his head through a yawn. “I’m awake.”
He doesn’t look really awake to you, maybe just barely lucid.
“If you say so.”
“Do you have any treats?”
“Do I— Sorry, what?”
His head tilts, looking at you like you he’s the coherent one.
“Treats.”
“I don’t have cat… treats—oh! You mean human… snacks.” You nod, assuring yourself. Of course, that must’ve been what he means. He wouldn't actually crave cat food, would he? “I made a batch of cookies yesterday.”
Xavier perks up at the mention of baked goods. “Lead the way.” As he stands to follow, you notice something peeking from behind his legs. He doesn’t get to take a step as you hastily turn his body around, and you stare, wholly perplexed at the long, and incredibly poofy-looking cat appendage coming from his tailbone.
“You have a tail.”
He hums. “Yes. I guess I do.”
“You didn’t think of letting me know.”
“I forgot,” he shrugs. “It’s just, kind of there.”
Of course, as if the set of ears wasn’t enough, he’s got a tail to match too. You take a deep breath, collect your bearings and decide to file this whole affair for later.
Xavier tags along into the kitchen. He’s quick to realize that his tail, just like his ears, is able to move involuntarily. It swishes on its own when he takes a whiff of the cookies sitting on the counter. And just like his ears, he decides he wants to put his range of control into test. He makes a point to brush his tail against your lower back when he passes by to grab a plate. You startle, not anticipating the feathery touch. None of you make a comment on it. Xavier also happens to have forgotten to get a cup, to his great convenience. He walks back, his tail lightly curling around your waist as he steps next to you. He sees you freeze up from his peripheral vision.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah!” you reply, a little too quickly. “It’s just, you know. Tail. Kinda weird.”
“Is it?”
“To wake up half-cat? Yes, I think. Actually, do you mind if I—”
He doesn’t expect it when your hands close in around the base of the tail. He jumps then, shoulders tense and pupils shrinking as he feels your fingers prod at the skin of his lower back. An instinctive part of him almost wants to snatch it from your curious hold, but he forces himself still, and waits.
“Huh,” your palms carefully trail the length of the fur, marveling at the softness of it. Xavier suppresses the little thrill rumbling in his throat. “It’s attached to your skin. At least it’s pretty.”
“Do you like it?” He swishes the tail, as to showcase it further.
“Yeah, sure.” You tag at it, somewhat playfully. “So, you’re actually half cat, then. Care to explain?”
The only thing Xavier offers is a shrug. “Don’t know. Aftermath from yesterday’s wanderer, maybe?”
You nod to yourself, trying to make sense of a situation that is, somehow, very much real. Your boyfriend has suddenly woken up with traits of a cat, a ridiculously cute one at that. Somehow, they even manage to match the color of his hair. He can’t possibly go outside like this, you think. A cute boy with fluffy ears and a fluffy tail, you can imagine the kind of ruckus it would cause.
“Is there anything else? Cat-like wise?”
Xavier hums, remembering the moment right after he woke up. “I think, I almost pounced on a bird.”
You stare incredulously. “Okay, well. Maybe we should find out, just in case you decide to hunt a mouse too, or something.”
When you return to the living room, you do so while holding an object. It’s one of those magic princess wands, with long ribbons hanging from the top. He remembers you had gotten it at one of the local’s festivals as a prize. Xavier did not think you’d find use to it, he knows now he was wrong. Against his own will, his eyes follow the wand as you sway it in front of his face.
He grumbles, forcing himself to look down as to not continue being played. “It’s not funny.”
“It’s very funny,” you laugh. “Come on, kitty cat!” You pull a yarn ball the size of your palm out of the pocket of your sweatshirt, and throw it in his direction. “Fetch!”
Xavier makes a sound of indignation, something like a scoff and a grunt. “I’m not a dog. And this feels demeaning.”
There’s a frown and petulant pout shaping his usually serene features. “Oh no, I’m sorry,” He refuses to look your way, choosing to make a show of his displeasure. “I didn’t mean to offend you.” Your hands give a tentative touch to his waist, wanting to be close but giving him the space to turn away if he wished to. “Will you forgive me?”
Xavier’s gaze remains somewhere else, even though the crease between his brows softens. “Fine,” he says, tone curt. “Under one condition.”
“Whatever you want.”
The corner of his mouth twists, a barely hidden smile. He clasps your hand in his and drags you towards the bedroom, leaving you with no choice but to walk after him. Xavier doesn’t break the hold even as he rearranges the pillows in your bed. He tilts his head, analyzing his work with narrowed eyes, and something is missing, he thinks. One pillow, two pillows, three— His face brightens with satisfaction when he snags a blanket from the corner of your bed, hiding beneath the comforter. He sinks his fingers into it—warm and fluffy and exactly what he needed.
He crawls into the bed, leaving you to clamber after him. Xavier seems to fold into himself, as he tucks his body next to yours. One of his arms circles your waist, while the other one lays flush against his chest. You think it’s funny, in a way. Such a tall frame reduced to a ball of warmth. He’s never been one to shy away from cuddles or skin contact, but this—you’ve never seen him in such a state, so utterly soft and vulnerable. It makes you wonder if he was like this once, perhaps as a child. His head rests in the space where your neck meets your shoulder. Fuzzy ears tickle your cheeks, but it’s so endearing you withstand it.
“This is your condition, huh?” You play with his hair absentmindedly, fingers intertwining with silver strands. The tip of his tail slowly sways as he hums in response. “You could’ve just said you wanted to cuddle, you know.”
His face turns to the crook of your neck, voice muffled. You can barely make out the words when he mutters them into your skin, like an imprinted whisper. “Let’s just stay like this.”
You huff out a small laugh. The top of his head bumps against your chin as he nuzzles into you. He holds you and you hold him, melting into each other. They’re rare these days. Little, transient moments, where you get to be with him like this, enveloped in a blanket of blissfulness where nothing else exists, no threat, no city to save, just him and you.
His cat traits will be gone come tomorrow, and he’ll be gone along with them. An early morning return as you prepare to leave; missing each other by a margin of time. You kiss the crown of his head. Your mouth lingers there, unmoving. Xavier’s fast asleep, slumped and snuggled against your side. He always did look calm when he rested, like nothing could ever disturb him, nor thunderstorm nor rain. But there’s something different, influenced by the feline characteristics, maybe. He hides in your skin and wraps around your limbs, as if he wanted to make a home in your body. You hold him a little tighter, in such a way you’d think he would slip from your arms if you didn’t.
There’s a soft, rumbling sound emanating from his throat, a little purr.
“We can stay like this,” you mumble into his hair. The rumbling seems to grow a little louder, seemingly reacting to your voice. “For as long as you want.”
And when he returns, along with the early morning rays, it will be as him. Just Xavier, no ears and no tail. And you’d take him all the same.

Saving Grace Chapter 23
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Aurora Stark
Summary: Bucky infiltrates Zemo’s party to rescue Aurora.
Warnings: character death
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Aurora eyed the dress hanging from the wardrobe. It was cream-colored, with a plunging neckline. Definitely a dress she would’ve worn to one of Tony’s parties, she braced herself on all levels before slipping the satin fabric over her head. Stopping mid-thigh, it complimented her brunette hair and amber eyes perfectly.
One glance in the mirror, and she barely recognized herself. Shades of the woman she’d been in Manhattan reflected back at her. Even if she could conjure up the visage of who she used to be, would she want to?
Fate weaves its hand where it must.
She was reminded of her mom’s words, nearly seven years ago, and in a flash of brilliance, saw the pattern of the grand design. Why question iniquity when she felt good about where she was in life, right now? She could lament on everything Zemo did, on everyone she lost, but if things hadn’t happened the way they did, she wouldn’t have met Bucky.
Bucky was her past, present… and hopefully, future. In Wakanda, they talked about moving to Brooklyn and getting an apartment together. Part of their dream realized, he lived in an apartment in Brooklyn. She was the missing piece, and he was hers.
Her eyes drifted to the deep V-cut, and she smiled at how it accentuated the gold chain, her wedding ring dangling from it for all to see. She fingered it gingerly, before nodding her head. She trusted… whatever was to come, it was meant to be.
~ * ~
Bucky pulled off to the side and cut the engine, parking the rental car in a snowbank. A line of vehicles spanned from the road to the house he glimpsed through the trees, standing out like a beacon of light in the darkened forest surrounding them. The thump of bass reverberated distantly.
“It would seem we were not invited to Zemo’s party,” Ayo teased lightly.
Bucky scoffed, pocketing his gun in his coat. “Do you think he’ll notice if we come in through the front?”
“What choice do we have?”
Their eyes met in a knowing exchange. The tension in the air was as thick as the puffs of white smoke from their combined breaths, further obscuring the frost-fogged windows. Zemo was anticipating theirs, or at least Bucky’s, arrival.
~ * ~
“Are you ready?”
Zemo poked his head in, eyes travelling appreciatively up and down her form. He stepped into the room, reaching to take her hands, which she allowed. Just as he’d instructed in Madripoor, she played the part well.
“You look divine,” he said, twirling her to have a look.
“I, uh, I’m nervous.”
He cupped the side of her face, rubbing his thumb over the swell of her cheekbone. “I will be by your side all night.”
“All night?” She raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you have to, I don’t know, schmooze with these lowlifes?”
His eyes narrowed. “Interesting choice of words, Miss Stark.”
“They’re human traffickers, what else would I refer to them as?”
He hummed at that. “And do you not think your father entertained guests of, shall we say, dubious backgrounds? Did he not supply weapons to terrorists?”
“He saw the err of his ways,” she spat.
“Eventually.”
“Can we just get this over with?”
“Of course, my dear.” Linking his arm with hers, Zemo led her downstairs with a series of side glances, and he was justified in doing so.
Currents of emotional energy slammed into her. Hiding behind him to buffer some of it, Aurora tried to separate individual signatures to no avail. The exertion gave her a headache that pounded above her right eye, radiating from the stress amassing between her shoulder blades.
Offered a drink, she quickly declined. This was neither the place nor the type of guests to get drunk around. And for the record, she tried to appease him, if only to prove her usefulness. She shuddered to think what he would do to her if she couldn’t produce the results he wanted.
~ * ~
Leaving Ayo outside with the Dora Milaje, Bucky entered the house. Strobe lights, music blaring over the speakers—reminded of Sharon Carter’s party in Madripoor, he got a sinking feeling in his gut. He moved through the crowd, scanning the heads of every person.
The flashing neon light made it near impossible to distinguish features, but he had the eye of a sniper, a trained assassin. If Aurora was here, he would find her. Venturing further into the house, Bucky’s eyes locked with Zemo’s. His cold stare glinted in the flashing strobe lights, and the people around him smartly backed off.
Caught in a standoff, Zemo whispered over his shoulder. “My dear, we have a visitor.” He tugged on the slender arm of a woman, and a wave of relief and anger coursed through Bucky as Aurora stepped into view.
“Bucky!” she cried, making to run to him before Zemo reeled her back with another tug on her arm.
“Let her go,” Bucky growled through clenched teeth. “You’re going back to prison.”
“I do not think so. You see, James, you are here because I want you to be. What better way to bring down a Super Soldier than attack him where he is weakest? Of course, I am talking about your dear demigoddess. You may not comprehend it yet, but you will… when you lie awake at night, wondering whether or not you can protect her. My clients know who she is and what she can do. But, I am a merciful man. I can spare you that torment.”
Zemo raised his gun, and Aurora didn’t hesitate. She stepped in front of it, finding herself again at the ramparts of his heart. The earsplitting crack of gunfire and bass drowned out by her warble.
“STOP!”
For a brief moment, everything stilled. Her hearing tunneled, as she tried to push herself up off the floor. That’s when she felt a burning sensation in her chest and glanced down. Blood stained the front of her dress, pooling on the floor beneath her.
She blinked, and the cacophony of voices and music rushed back in. Out of her periphery, Zemo stood suspended like a frozen statue. Even as she lay dying, her mind was spinning with theories. Was it because he accidentally shot her, instead of Bucky? Did he actually feel something in that moment?
“Get him outta here!” Bucky ordered gruffly, kneeling on the floor.
His handsome face swam into her vision, and Aurora reached up to graze her fingertips along his jaw. “Bucky…”
“Why did you do that?” Instead of anger, it was the strained, pleading whimper of a man on the verge of breaking.
As the Dora Milaje apprehended Zemo and forced the other scum to depart, Aurora found her bearings. She focused on Bucky’s emotional signature like a lifeline; it grounded her in her physical body, but with it came the pain. She coughed, blood sputtering on her lips.
Trying not to wince, she smiled weakly. “Five years, soldier… I- I feel you.”
Noticing the gold flecks in her eyes dim, he shook his head. “Please, doll… don’t do this to me. You don’t get to do this to me!” He pressed his lips to her fingers. His tears falling faster than he could wipe them away, he used his free hand to put pressure on her wound. “I don’t wanna lose you. I can’t…” As her body paled, Bucky let out an anguished sob. “NO! Aurora, stay with me. Please stay with me.”
“What happened?”
He looked up at Ayo, whose sorrow mirrored his. “Sh-she took the bullet that was meant for me, and I- I can’t stop the bleeding. She’s…”

“sold to the greil mercenaries”
a fanfiction by shroud (me)
as the sun shines through the window i blink my long dark lashes open. i sweep my messy dark green long black hair up into a messy bun and swipe mascara across my thick lashes that bring out my shining red blood colored orbs before putting on a tight black choker and throwing on a large oversized sweatshirt with the sleeves covering my hands along with tight shredded black skinny jeans and my black converse. i look at myself in the mirror, seeing my pale slim face with the dark red angular birthmark on my forehead with my long bangs hanging down the sides and sigh, thinking about how much i hate my life. as i grab my mp3 player and earbuds about to listen to linkin park and set sh*t on fire in the backyard with my elfire tome i hear my b*tch dad yell from the floor below.
“soren!” my dad yells “get your stupid worthless *ss down here!!!!” “what do you want?” i yell back, he was such a bitxh. i flounce down the stairs, stompijg my feet in frustration. as i turn to face him, i cross my arms and scowl at the d*mn jerk i called my dad. a creepy smile crosses his big ugly face. “i have some good news. pack your things, your new owners are about to arrive.” “what?? my— owners?!?!?” i stammer out, my blood red orbs wide and my thin pink lips open in shock. “there’s no way you can just sell me, that’s illegal!!!” my dad’s stupid ugly grin widens. “oh, but i did anyway. how else did you think i was going to afford the war against crimea and my lehran’s medallion addiction? now go pack before they get here or you won’t bave any of your stuff when you leave.” i run away, stomping my feet as i run up the stairs and slam the door of my room.
glistening tears run down my face as i paxk up my meager belongings, my punk band t-shirts and ripped jeans along with my wind sage robes and spell tomes and healing staves and knives into my backpaxk covered in my chemical romance pins and punk patches. as i trudge down the stairs, i hear the doorbell ring, my hesrt leaping out of my chest. i open the door and then i see them, the greil mercenaries. “hi there” says the stupid green one. “its good to finally meet you” says the woman with a long red braid and poleaxe. i back away, terrified. i turn to my dad and scream “you can’t f*cking do this to me!!!!!” but all i hear behind me is the dound of his insane cackling. d*mn b*stard. i turn back around and my eyes meet with the hot beefy indigo haired one with long dark lashes framing deep ocean blue orbs like the sky, my breath catching in my chest. he walks inside, moving to where my dad is still laughing his *ss off. he draws a claymore then stabs my dad through the chest, killing him. he turns back around to me. “hey there,” he said in a deep gravelly voice. “grab your things, we’re killing god.”

@redfielddoesthings this one’s for u babygorl bc i’ve had a dallypop roadtrip fic on my mind and i can’t write it yet bc finals are actually beating my ass atm so i’m putting my ideas in here until i can buckle down and finesse the writer’s block
- they’re headed to the bronx, where dally grew up. it’s approx 20 hours by car, so they drive to indianapolis first, break for the night, then drive 11 hours to the bronx w a bunch of pit stops in between
- first pit stop is at a gas station where soda takes the lead while dally tries to hide the fact that he’s never pumped gas before in his life
- he grew up in nyc that boy hasn’t even SEEN a real gas station until tulsa
- they get stuck in standstill traffic at some point so they get out and start praying to deities they don’t even believe in to get it moving again. they’re losing their minds. dally’s banging his head against the horn while soda’s going up to ppl’s windows and chatting with them. dally wants a gun
- they get back in the car and are hanging out, until soda notices something laying on the woods’ edge. since they aren’t going anywhere and the car is in the right lane, he gets out and runs over to it
- unfortunately traffic has started moving the second he’s out and dally has to scramble over to the driver side to start moving. in the side mirror dally sees soda sprinting along the shoulder holding a filthy stuffed bear that makes idle appearances for the rest of the fic. soda reaches the car before dally can hit 20 mph and he practically has to dive into the backseat
- soda vs the mississippi river
- once they reach indianapolis dally’s like “so we can either check into a motel or get fucking litttt”
- immediate cut to soda putting music on a jukebox and dally ordering them drinks
- dally gets plastered and insists on laying down in the truck bed on the drive to the motel. soda hits a speed bump as hard as he can and dally nearly gets launched out the back
- they’re on the road again but the poor truck’s been through it and it starts making some funky sounds until soda decides to pull over because he doesn’t like that noise. he’s no steve randle but he finds out they need to go to a repair shop and get a new part because the one they got now is literally gonna fall off
- so they’re stranded on the side of the highway
- soda decides to climb up on top of the truck because the weather’s real nice up there, and dally follows. he tries putting his thumb out but soda stops him, says he wants to sit and watch for a while. it’s pretty trippy, being so close to cars going 70 down the freeway. when a semi approaches, soda makes a right angle with his arm and pretends to pull a horn until the semi honks at them.
- that’s where a more heartfelt, raw conversation would happen amid the humor
- eventually they get their truck to a repair shop and get a new part! but not before they have like four hours to kill doing literally nothing but like mocking small children and playing i spy
- while they’re at it they also decide to call the house to check in on darry and pony and whoever else happens to be at the curtis residence at the moment
- and they’re back on the road!
- not thirty minutes later they hit a bird and have to pull over again because soda’s crying so hard he can’t drive
- they were playing music on the radio when that happened. the radio is off when dally pulls back onto the highway
- “it had a family.” “yeah, well.” “it had a name.” “alr i promise you it did not.”
- i haven’t thought about it yet but they pass at least one billboard that convinces them to stop and take a look at like the worlds largest rubber band ball or smth dumb like that
- dally hits a jersey slide so they don’t miss their exit and nearly kills a family of four in the process
- getting to see the new york skyline for the first time as they cross the bridge and it would be one of those emotional moments for dally who never thought he’d willingly go back. something about making new memories in the place where bad ones happened to take back your right to love that place again
- at the end soda surprises him with tickets to a yankee game
a lot of this works in my head because i’m imagining it like a sitcom lmfao who knows if i can translate it onto the page without rage quitting

Chapter 5 ~ Having Some (Not So) Big Fun!
Tumblr media
TW: SA - skimmed over because im not writing that in detail
They pull into the driveway of the house, the music able to be heard from the outside due to swung open doors and windows. Heather's stomach twists and tightens, her heart has began running a marathon and beats against her ribcage. She can feel herself starting to sweat and she hesitates to open the car door. Unfortunately Veronica isn't that oblivious and notices Heathers stress.
"Hey, you okay?" Veronica rest her hand gently on top of Heathers, causing the girls face to heat up.
"I'm fine, shut up" She pushes Veronica's hand away, she's horrid when it comes to handling comfort so she forces herself to get out of the car and start walking inside with Veronica trailing behind her.
The music is loud, echoing through your whole body. The room is thick and hot, the tremendous amount of sweaty, drunk teens filling the halls and main rooms. Chandler's stomach continues to squeeze to the point she feels sick and lightheaded, it felt like having a bucket of ice water dunked on her head. Veronica was close on the same line, being her first party she was pretty nervous.
As they walked to where people dropped their coats, the worst people arrived in front of them, the dreaded David and Brad. Chandler couldn't even focus on what they said, thoughts swirling in her head and her organs being squeezed to the max (well what she hoped was the max, the squeezing was extreme). She finally snapped back and tried responding without stuttering.
"Let's party.." She quickly spoke before they noticed she hadn't been paying attention, not wanting to anger David.
As the party goes on, Kurt and Ram rear their stupid drunk little heads and try to dance with them. Chandler is obviously uncomfortable and Veronica notices, feeling extremely jealous that Kurt is dancing with her, btu also how she doesn't even want to dance with him. She wants to step in but Ram has a tight grip on her.
After Kurt and Ram finally fuck off, Veronica can't see Heather at all, seeming to have just vanished. She looks around everywhere, running into McNamara and Duke. They are no help and she can't find the blonde anywhere. Eventually giving up, she sits on the couch, holding her Heather's coat on her lap to make her feel better, sipping away at her drink.
"Come on, David- Sh-Shouldn't we get back to the party?" She attempts to push him, feeling extremely uncomfortable with him so close and in her space, especially when he's forcing his stupid dry as lips onto hers. She rather be next to Veronica...
"We will! I just can't control myself.." He spoke in that stupid, wanna-be flirty voice. She knew what he wanted, saying no would be the worst decision she could make, he always found a way to get what he wanted.
-
Heather stood in front of the bathroom mirror, taking a cup of water and spitting the water in her reflection. She was so upset with herself, feeling gross with what she did, she let that happen, she let that disgusting thing touch her. She wanted to curl under the sink and hide away forever but she knew if she took too long in the bathroom, people would be upset with her so she left the bathroom.
Veronica began messing with a match, trying to see how close she could get her hand to the flame before it hurt. Eventually she got bored of the little game she made for herself and dropped the match in her almost finished drink, to her surprise the alcohol caught on fire. In a panic, she threw the cup out the window and being drunk, she didn't think it would do anything bad.
She kept waiting for Heather, fidgeting with the black coat. Then her worst nightmare happened, Brad came over to her and got uncomfortable close. He was obviously tryna fuck, but she rather do something like that with Heathe- No I can't be thinking that-.. She rightfully so snapped at him but he didn't get the hint, continuing to try hit her up. She snatched her coat from him and walked off, going back to searching for Heather. The alcohol was beginning to fade into sickness, her stomach dropping and feeling oozy. She leaned herself up against a wall, the overpowering nausea causing her to forget that she was looking for Chandler.
Little did she know, Heather wasn't far from her and Brad was snitching of Veronica. But he was blowing it out of proportion, saying Veronica insulted him for no reason. Heather didn't want it to anger David and him blaming her for her friend being 'rude' to Brad so she approached Veronica.
"What's your damage?? Brad says you're being a real cooze"
"Heather I'm feeling really sick so can we please jam now.."
"No! Hell no!!" She snapped before Veronica couldn't hold it in and she vomited on the floor, some getting on Heathers shoes. Embarrassed, she ran out of the party, trying not to stumble from her tipsiness.
Heather followed after her and an argument began.
"You stupid fuck" She spat.
"You goddamn bitch"
"You were nothing before you met me, you were playing barbies with Betty Finn!! You were a blue bird, you were a girl scout cookie. I got you into a Remington Party!! What's my thanks? It's on a hallway carpet!! I got paid in PUKE!!" Heather ranted in a drunk fit.
"Lick it up, baby! Lick. It. Up." Veronica remarked with a smirk, leaving Heather a little stunned. Heather didn't respond and just grunted and made her way to her car, Veronica following after.
"Where are you going??" She tried catching up and opening the car door but Heather had locked the doors.
"I'm going home to get cleaned" She growled.
"You're my ride! You can't leave me here!!"
She was mad but she couldn't stay mad at her, her messy hair was extremely-.. no stop thinking that! She unlocked the car and Veronica stumbled over to the passenger seat. She started the car and began driving.
Chapter 1 ~ Would you fight for me..?
Tumblr media
In the cafeteria of Westerburg High School, Veronica sat with the Heathers, the Mythic Bitch of the three on one of her super long ass rants. After being friends with them for 2 weeks, she'd gotten used to the girl in reds pages and pages worth of rants. Veronica was eating her sandwich until a familiar hand slapped onto the table in front of her, she looked up and it was none other than Kurt Kelly with Ram Sweeney standing beside him. That stupid grin on his face IMMEDIATELY told the girl in blue of his intentions.
"Heyyyyy 'Ronica, Heather, Heather and Heather. What are you loooveelyy ladies doing this fine lunch hour?" Kurt said in a awful attempt at flirting tone.
"Eating, what does it look like!?" Heather Chandler spat, her icy steel blue eyes piercing through the jocks brown eyes, but he didn't take the hint.
"Easy there, baby. Why are you using your little harsh eyes on me?" Kurt tried at his horrible flirty tone again. "My buddy Kurt just asked you a question, babe." Ram touched Heather's hair and she completely flipped.
Veronica didn't see it all too well, but quickly realized what happened as she heard Ram yelp and fall to the floor, a mix of red and slight purple quickly washing over his cheek.
"Holy shit!" Heather Duke and Heather McNamara blurted out.
Why when you see others fight, Does it look so horrible yet feel so right? I shouldn't watch this crap, that's not who I am. But with this Heather Chandler... Dayumn..                    ........ But everyone sees her that way, right?
Hey, miss Demon Queen, so what is this feeling? But would you fight for me And hey, could you face the crowd Could you be seen with me and still act proud.. ..... Hey, could you hold my hand .....In a platonic way..  Well, whoa, you can punch real good You're a lot stronger than I thought you were.. "Holy shit"

26, 23, and 30 for the bluest belle!!!
also hope you're doing okay ^^
Hi hello lovely!!! I’m trying to be okay, and that’s about all I can do I hope you’re doing okay too <3
23. Stability or Novelty?
Not much is ever really new for bluebelle. She’s built a little cocoon of stability in her home and with her friends, and with the safety of her routine. All change to her, bad or good, is scary. 100% stability.
26. Talent or Effort?
Effort, especially when having to do with dancing. Part of her favorite thing about dancing is the work that goes into it. You reap what you sow, and she loves seeing her efforts and practice blossom into something beautiful.
30. What would they do if they knew it would be forgiven?
Kiss Victoria. Tell her she loves her. Be vulnerable with Demeter, be honest with her. She would tell Demeter everything if she met her, if she had the chance.
