in case anyone is interested i read 30 books this year (a low-ish number for me but i wrote my thesis this year and had approximately 7 big mental breakdowns so a good number) 9 of those being non-fiction and the rest fiction/poetry :) these were the 5 books i gave 5 stars (again, a kind of low number but i think i spent a lot of this year reading books that could have been 5 stars at the wrong time of the year so they kinda lost out sorry to them x :/ )

Around 30 minutes later, give or take, Lysandre arrives at the abandoned warehouse, that's been around for at least 40 years.

The windows are broken, and the paint is well on its way to peeling.

He sees Aires sitting on the edge of the docks with a thin but long, white snake slithering around her arm and torse.

She glances over her shoulder and notices Lysandre.

"Lys!" She stands and the snake crawls back into her skin.

"You ready to go fuck some shit up?"

Lysandre smirked as he lifted up a Hello Kitty backpack with some small Christmas explosives.

"Even the question is offensive" he chuckled before looking at the warehouse.

"Damn, the old man really chose the shittiest place to hide, eh?" He sighed and then walked over to the window.

Thankfully, he was asleep with a... Batman body pillow??

The clone battled inner demons to not laugh at the bizarre scene in front of him.

"A-aires" he called between low chuckles. "You have to see this" he mumbled before backing away a little to give her space.

set in a cyberpunk Calcutta-inspired city, loosely inspired by Aladdin

chaotic monkey bot who wants to fight in underground mecha/bot tournaments and leave to become a space hero

his human sister, the daughter of failed revolutionaries who has been working her whole life to free their city from oppression and inequality, especially with the recent rumors that their planet is scheduled for destruction

and an old unearthed bot whose function is to observe & record the story of a client who meets the siblings and quickly becomes involved in their lives

and a treasure hunt to find an old and powerful piece of alien tech that has the power to radically change their city

FYI... For those who are fans of the Russell-Holmes series of novels this is a worthy addition even though much of the story involves events in the far past. And it is 30 years since The Beekeeper's Apprentice came out!

word count: 2,766 (to be changed later when i finally finish writing the introduction today ;-; i hugry )

time taken to complete: about 3 hours (got distracted throughout it, trying to find music that suited the mood and vibe i was going for + trying to figure out what i was going to write)

I've been binge reading your whole masterlist for the whole week now and if I'm not doing that I'm thinking about doing that and I can't get this out my head. I don't know how to explain it but reading your work feels like when youre with your mom in ur bed and she's caressing your hair and the lights are dim and she's reading you a bed time story and her voice is so soft and you're warm and almost drifting to sleep and basking in the absolute comfort and it's just a perfect haven except she's reading you geto and satoru angst (that just makes it better in my opinion) BUT fr your work feels so soft idk it touches me so deep I wanna kiss it's forehead and hug it so bad

ANWS, conclusion is write a book. I'll buy a hundred copies and never be normal again
