Daniel groaned as he was tackled to the floor the moment he stepped foot in , all he heard was a shout of " uncle Dan" and the next thing he was rugby tackled , Marc greeted him with a wide toothy grin followed with an exited "hi!" , he chuckled and hugged him back " Marcelo!" Causing the boy to whine and throw his head back in frustration as Daniel lifted him when he stood " that's not my name !! " , Earning a laugh from Danny who ignored his whining throwing him over his shoulder emitting a loud scream followed by a laugh .

He shut the front door while asking " so Marcel! How's life ? " grabbed his bag and leaving it by the closed door , but as soon as he finished asking he earned himself a quite painful pinch in the back , yelping in pain as he made his way inside the house " you're as mean as your aunt!! " .

The said aunt voice ranged from the kitchen as she asked in a warning tone " what did you say RICKY?" , he called back before he stood at the door , " nothing but the truth!" Watching her Round the kitchen Island with little Gigi on her hip , who called out as soon as she saw him "Anny!" . (*She tried to call him Dan like Marc but couldn't say the D yet and it stuck with her as she went from calling him Dan to Danny making it worse, but Y/N found it too funny to correct her*) .

Now it was his turn to groan as Marc giggled from his back , but he greeted her back with as much enthusiasm " Gigi!" Making her giggle as she extended her arms out for him .

Stepping in he puts Marc carefully on the island with a teasing tone " special potato delivery! " Dodging before he got pinched again, taking Gigi in a hug , getting one back with a little pat on his cheek" hello miss Gigi " holding her in one arm greeting his friend with a quite "hey Bella" . She gave him a smile greeting back with open arms as he extended his free arm to bring her into a side hug leaving a kiss on the side of her head then he asked " how are you holding up?" She shrugged " getting better , It just takes time to get used to it " he hummed nudging her shoulder with his " knowing you , you'll be up and working in no time " she rolled her eyes at his words " you make it sounds like I'm an avid workaholic " scooping Marc off the island as he wanted to get down and watched as he ran out the kitchen , calling out for O'Connell to play with . he gave her a look " you are " .

She shook her head " well now I've got all the time in the world , isn't that right Gigi " he watched her closely as she turned away avoiding his eyes , so he teased her saying " then don't get too bored without me around, it's only a couple of months and we'll both be jobless together, we'll retire and go off hiking and making wine in Italy like we always planned " he balanced Gigi on her feet , holding her hands and smiling wide as she gripped his fingers in her hands babbling as she took wobbly steps, scrunching her nose as she blobbed down kicking her legs and giving a small shout at him , he apologized to her scooping her up as he reached the fridge, taking out two small juice boxes , he offered her to choose first , she looked at her aunt who was standing on the side looking at them in amusement, she held on Danny's arm and he let her lift it up as she called for Y/N as if asking her *if it's ok to have one* and once she got the approval she picked one and looked up at him pointing back at her high chair on the side , waiting patiently to be set down to drink her juice in peace .

Daniel took the other box , sipping as he sat down not wasting time to ask " so , how's it going miss CEO " she groaned plumbing on a chair close to where he sat " I was just approved by the board yesterday and I'll be starting officially September 1st " he cuts her off " wait! You were serious about the interview thing !?" , she nods " dead serious , they give fair chances , I won't just barg in demanding to run things just cause my dad owns it , so as I was saying, I'll be touring the main branches starting from headquarters here and ending with UAE so I'll be able to at least attend the last race , then I'll work between here , New York and Sydney " she finished in a huff and he winced at the packed schedule "that's rough , buuuuuut " she lets a quite laugh as he cheered at the news of her attending the last race Gigi cheered along after she puts down her drink , not knowing what happened but she joined the celebration nonetheless.

He stood up after a while excusing himself for a minute returning with his bag letting it down before facing her , rubbing the back of his head as she watched him curiously " since I'm flying out today, I wanted to give you this , I wanted you to have it for a long time and as much as I'm bad with words I'll just let you read it latter and I want you to hold on to it " he took out the helmet handing it over to her to take , it was wrapped in her favourite colour wrap , so she couldn't read what's he wrote just yet , his phone rang before she could say anything he looked at her apologetically as he stood up " I have to head out " she nods silently holding back tears as he hugged Gigi goodbye and turned to her , both holding it in for the sake of the other as they shared a tight hug , he hummed as she mumbled with her head on his shoulder " please take care of yourself, no fighting , and don't be so hard on yourself out there , just enjoy it and make some good memories, alright?" He nods tightening his arms around her " you too , try not to overwork yourself , yeah? , I'll visit once I get the chance and will call , so you better keep your phone on or I'll fly back to Knock you door down " she gave a weak chuckle" I'll hold you to that " he nods again " make sure to cheer for me " she affirmed " always" , he sway them gently before he settled with a quite " okay" and with that they finally let go .

He took the empty bag with him , heading to the front door calling out for Marc " Oi ! Mario ! " Laughing at the loud groan and the stomping feet down the hall " still not my name!!" He stood with O'Connell in his arms a frown in his face seeing Daniel by the door ready to leave " you're not staying?" The driver shook his head, reaching out to scratch the cats head grinning as it purred in content " not this time , I gotta catch a flight soon , but I need you to take care of you aunt for me , ok !" the boy nod in understanding , puffing his chest and giving Daniel a small hug as his aunt and sister stood behind him watching as Daniel opened the door to leave , stepping out he turned when marc called out to him waving along with Gigi " we will cheer for you uncle Danny!" Along with an exited shout from his sister, he chuckled as he turn back getting in the car , waving at them as he rolled down the window as the car drove away .

Two hours later Max and Daniel sat in their seats getting ready to take off for their next race . A heavy silence overtook them but was soon cut off by Max who adjusted his headrest for the tenth time since he sat down, Groaning in annoyance before he threw it away to grab another pillow, Daniel looked at him as he threw it away asking in concern " what's wrong with you?!" Max started bouncing his leg up and down " it's quite , too quite, and it makes me anxious" Daniel shook his head " it's not the silence, Max it's cause she's not here " Max stilled " I know and it's just don't feels right " his friend sighed as he nods in agreement " I know. But it's out of our hands " Max replied in a quite voice as he turned his head away " that's what makes it harder to bear " looking out the window as they started moving up and off the ground.

The latest Rumours circulating the grid aren't just rumours anymore, as News of a sudden Mid-Season changes shook the F1 community to it's core . MERCEDES AMG F1 Team decided to replace their well known driver (Y/N L/N) with Williams former driver (George Russell) .

Sources confirmed that this occurred during the Hungarian Grand Prix right before summer break , where (L/N) contract was terminated by MERCEDES management, although this happened during the race weekend L/N went on to race her last round with the silver arrows scoring herself the third place along with her now former teammate (sir Lewis Hamilton) in second , and her long time friend/rival (Max Verstappen) in first place , ending her time as one of the arrows with an Impressive score .

F1 Fans and community widely criticized the decision once the team announcement of Russell's new position couple of days before the Belgian Grand Prix, bashing the Team's poor judgement and favouritism towards (Russell) as the team neglected to address the reasons behind the sudden irrational choice as some put it to be or even mentioning their former driver in any form of thank or gratitude for her time or achievement in the years she spent with them which fueled fans rage even more , putting the blame on the principle (Toto Wolff) as a major factor in losing such established driver as her , commenting on how (MERCEDES) gave up this year title for their rivals (RED BULL Racing)on a silver plate, as the replacement came in a critical time for both teams competing for the title with promising results from the former driver as she stood neck to neck against Verstappen with her teammate and former world champion far behind them .

Other sources commented that this move wasn't well played by MERCEDES who decided to make such bold move but it came with a hidden intent, saying [ "mercedes knew how much other teams wanted to secure her as a fixed driver for the next 5 years at least , such as red bull who wanted to sings her since 2019 , and Ferrari and now even Aston Martin with their developing team as Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement, but Toto was smart enough to oppose, promising to extend her contract up to 23 , but now that he turned his attention towards Russell as a valuable addition to their team's development he had to make sure these teams secured their drivers for the next season at least as a precaution , guaranteeing she'd stay out of competition while he develop his car in peace, even if it cost him a WDC" ] .

Others referred to it as an overdue decision but a good move in the right direction, referring to the now former driver name being involved in a series of scandals and alleged rumours circulating since 2018 regarding her dating other drivers , other rumours regarding assault and abuse towards working staff and mechanics and even misuse of position due to the favouritism she received for being the only female driver . All was dropped since no witnesses nor victims of these alleged accusations came to light . Some even speculated her leave was due to personal matters nodding at a possible pregnancy as some put it to be , but the driver is yet to address the topic in any of her social media platforms.

Either way (L/N) presence will be missed and hopefully her absence won't last long with the upcoming seasons we wish her the best in both her personal life and career as a F1 driver .

05:54 , she ran back and forth through the house as she held her folders and bag in one hand and the other held her phone and reading glasses case , she dumped them all in the table by the front door , checking mentality to see what she forgot in her rush , repeating twice before a sleepy voice came from the corner of the living as he walked up to her holding a pair of heels " Bibi , you forgot your shoes in the hallway " , she looked at him then at the heels in his hand then at her bare feet before she rushed back in mumbling to herself " I'm losing my damn mind " , she asked in concern as she looked at his tired face with hair tangled and over his eyes " I'm so sorry Tommy ,I must've woke you up with me running around at the crack of dawn " thanking him purposefully as he held his arm for her to hold on as she puts them on , he shook his head slowly in denial " it's okay , you didn't , I was already awake when your third alarm start blaring " she rolled her eyes at his teasing tone but that didn't lessen her concern " you had nightmares ? " He shook his head " not recently , I Just couldn't sleep , that's all ".

Once she's done she stood back with a frown before she held her hand to his forehead in worry " maybe you caught something , I should stay , go back in , I'll make you some tea and ........" He cuts her rambling before she could Push him back inside, chuckling at her frowning face and turned her back to the front door " you are not doing any of that , you are going to take a deep breath , and go out there and do what you do best " she looked back questioning " find a hole and hide in it " he made a face at her answer before exclaiming " what !? , No! That's my thing , you! , are going out there and prove how great you are ! " She whines at this , trying to sidestep her way back inside but he held his ground " fine ! I'll get some sleep aaannnd,...." He paused as she looked at him expectantly with a raised eyebrow , he groaned at her " I'll eat three full meals and I'll even send you proof , there ! Happy " she gave a satisfied nod as she picked her bag putting her everything in before she held her folders up and turned to her brother asking seriously " how do I look?" He nods with two thumbs up " like you're on your way to fire someone for sleeping in work hours " she hummed in thought " not likely but I can do with that " he pushed her out as they heard a car park outside, she gave him a quick hug " make sure to sleep well and I'll be waiting for these meals young man , oh and I left you a patch of muffins they're still warm , and don't drink so much coffee, you won't sleep well , and ........." He rolled his eyes " and you'll be late " she cursed as she ran down the driveway shouting back " I love you , stay safe " he laughed as she almost trip and shouts back " love you too , sly out there " she held the car door after she tripped again, laughing at herself as she gave a final wave " I'll try ! " .

He got back in after he shut the door , taking a deep breath as he threw himself on the couch face first , covering his head with his arms as his mind wandered back to the conversation he had with his brother, and the phone call he had last week, all raging in his mind like a hurricane waiting to strike .

He turned on his side ,eyes falling on the framed pictures , from old to new , far away memories and wide smiles , all of their family and their closest friends have at least one if not more , just like his sister insisted.

He smiled at the memory of having to frame and put up every single one under her order and preference , but his smile fades slightly as his eyes fell on his favourite one . right in the middle, he could barely remember any of his memories when he was that age or where it was taken , but he still recall how happy they all were that day , his brother Eddie was standing behind them both with his arms holding them , his sister standing by his side his head leaning on her shoulder as she held him from the side with her head leaning on his , all three are caught in a laugh, their father could be seen sitting in the background smiling fondly at his children.

He couldn't get himself to look away as his eyes stung with unshed tears , he whispered to himself " we'll be alright , we have to ....... we'll be alright " , repeating on and on until he drifts away into a dreamless sleep , finally letting his mind get it's much needed rest .

The car rolled to a stop Infront of a sky scraper, the sight alone was intimidating , the spotless building stood tall and mighty before her , she got out still looking up at her new work place, adjusted her suit jacket as she took a deep breath in , releasing it in a calm exhale, looking back down she straightened her posture, walking on with a new purpose in her steps, confidently making her way in , nodding in acknowledgement as employees and receptionists stood in greeting to her .

Her assistant stood by the elevator, greeting her kindly before giving her a full schedule of the day along with upcoming meetings and other engagements that required her presence .

They stepped out once they arrived to their destination , the hallway was empty as they made their way down to the last door to the left , inside every head of department along with their assistant managers , stood in the conference room , all waiting for her arrival, greeting in firm nods as their eyes followed her like a prey , waiting for a slip to attack.

she kept her gaze confident yet respectful as she took her place at the head of the table gesturing with both hands for everyone to take a seat .

She remained standing as she spoke in an even calm voice " for a start I'd like to thank everyone for their time in such short notice , and I hope staring from today we establish a solid understanding built on trust, and honest effort " she paused as they showed their agreement to her words , she went on in assuring tone " no drastic changes will occur for now as we go through the last quarter of the year, however each department will be undergoing an evaluation trial , starting from today up until next year's first quarter, by then we'll have more insight to make the right and much needed decisions , however in case of priorities we'll make and execute such drastic changes accordingly " she took a moment of silence incase anyone have any opposing opinion, she went on when she found non , "seeing we're all on the same page here , shall we begin?" .

I think that if you are following me you will probably like this book. Great stuff on gender and sex and religion in a deeply fun art style. (Best I can describe it is the really trippy bits of Alice in Wonderland.)

Family Style: Memories of an American from Vietnam - Thien Pham

First of a number of immigration memoirs nominated for the Eisners. The storytelling here is excellent; the art wasn’t my personal favorite.

In Limbo - Deb JJ Lee

I always have such a hard time judging memoir comics, but I think this walks a good line between gesturing at and directly portraying its fairly heavy subject matter, and the art is stunning.

Last on His Feet: Jack Johnson and the Battle of the Century - Adrian Matekja and Youssef Daoudi

Probably my favorite thing I read in this batch. Lyrical, poetic art that plays with paneling and pagination to incredible effect. Does not shy away from the everyday brutality of either boxing, racism, or Johnson’s personal life. 

Messenger: The Legend of Muhammad Ali - Marc Bernardin

I read this right after Last on His Feet and boy did it suffer for it. Unfortunately, this is just an entirely forgettable bio of Muhammad Ali. 

Sunshine - Jarrett J. Krosoczka

I wish I liked Krosoczka’s art. This did make me cry but it’s a memoir about working at a camp for kids with cancer, so it would be pretty hard for it NOT to.

Blackward - Lawrence Lindell

This would have been a perfectly serviceable 2010s-era webcomic. Not everything needs to be a book!

The Out Side: Trans & Nonbinary Comics

Graphic anthologies are deeply hit or miss for me but this one was extremely solid!

Frontera - Jaco -  Salcedo and Julio Anta

Excellent story about the violence of the border, deeply undercut (for me) by a very jarring ghost subplot. 

A First Time for Everything - Dan Santat

Sweet little story about a class trip abroad with glowing art. 

Shubeik Lubeik - Deena Mohamed

I'm so bummed I couldn't hear Mohamed speak at MICE because I LOVED this. Uses genies as a vehicle to explore the fault lines of class and politics in Egyptian society. 

A Boy Named Rose - Gaëlle Geniller

Lovely art but this was entirely nothing. Remember Teahouse? This is that but sfw and also without any narrative tension. 

Comics for Ukraine

Almost universally bad, with the exception of "Talking to a Hill."  I think sometimes the medium of superhero comics is not the one with which to tackle every issue, 

Parasocial -  Erica Henderson and Alex de Campi

Tense paneling, solid art, I didn't care for the ending of the story. 

Are You Willing to Die for the Cause? - Chris Oliveros

This relies almost entirely in first person accounts, which I like as a device for exploring who gets to claim historicity, but it means that the actual narrative is kind of incoherent. 

The Great Beyond - Léa Murawiec

My other favorite from this batch! This is a story about celebrity and fame and being remembered, but the art is some of the most fluid and expressive stuff I've seen in years and the creativity of the conceit keeps it from ever feeling run of the mill. 

Memento Mori - Tiitu Takalo

I am pretty down on illness memoirs, but I liked this more than I thought I would. 

Swan Songs - W. Maxwell Prince et al

This collection of stories about endings was going to be a winner for me and then the final comic was SO bad it soured the whole experience for me. 

Monstrous: A Transracial Adoption Story - Sarah Myer

This (like a lot of the comics in the teen category) did make me cry! The art is a little too scratchy for me at times- it's intentional, but not always deployed to best advantage. 

Phantom Road v1 - Jeff Lemire and Gabriel Hernández Walta

Is this basically Alice Isn't Dead with a guy as the driver? Well, yes, but it is good. Lemire always nails creeping dread and Hernández Walta's art is ominously flat in an excellent way. 

Black Cloak v1 - Kelly Thompson and Meredith McLaren

Compelling story undercut by webtoony art that's way too cute for the fantasy noir vibe of the narrative. 

My Girlfriend's Child v1 - Mamoru Aoi

It's always kind of wild to me to see a completely bog standard teenage pregnancy narrative get nominations like this and then I remember that most people making these nominations do not like, know a lot of people who were pregnant as teens. 

Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons - Frank Tieri and Inaki Miranda

This is simply not very good art or story. 

The Cull v1 - Kelly Thompson and Mattia de Iulis

The story here is really intriguing! I wish we had a little more time to get to know the characters before getting thrown into Plot but it's real solid. I don't always love this hyper realistic 3D rendering but it works for the story. 

The Summer Hikaru Died v1 - Mokumokuren

I could wish that the translator hadn't rendered all of the dialogue as weirdly southern but this is a really good gay rural horror. Came back wrong simply hits! 

Mabuhay! - Zachary Sterling

Cute! Didn't really slam me but I would have had a lot of fun with this as a kid. 

Mexikid: A Graphic Memoir - Pedro Martín

This was both lovely and deeply felt and also laugh out loud funny. 

Saving Sunshine - Saadia Faruqi and Shazleen Khan

Extremely sweet sibling story. 

Fire Power v1-4 - Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee

This has great moments and is also deeply irony poisoned. I would love to read a weird queer comic by someone who was not Online. Also I could not tell any of the characters apart, because they were all thin white-presenting people from fake Seattle. ALSO the speech bubbles were so clearly added in after the fact that it was often difficult to tell who was saying what. I'm not a purist about speech bubble rules or anything but I gotta be able to tell what order to read your dialogue!

Three Rocks: The Story of Ernie Bushmiller: The Man Who Created Nancy - Bill Griffith

The frame narrative is solid, but the best part of this was just the actual Nancy comics included within.

This is just apocalypse torture porn tbh. 

Thing: Inside the Struggle for Animal Personhood - Sam Machado

Here's the thing. I think there are compelling arguments for animal rights. I would also like to see us put that same kind of energy towards ensuring full rights for people first. Also the art and writing here are simply not very good.

Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons - Kelly Sue deConnick, Phil Jiminez, Gene Ha, and Nicola Scott

I wasn't sure I would love this because of my noted Picky Feelings about feminist Greek myths but I liked it more than I thought! The art is phenomenal.

Superman (2023) v1 - Joshua Williamson 

The annual is what was nominated, but the single issues are the actual stars of this trade. Williamson does a really solid job of situating Clark in community.

Wonder Woman (2023) v1 - Tom King

I find the story pretty grating (why does Diana need to be fighting the entire US government?)

Poison Ivy (2022) v1 - G Willow Wilson and Marcio Takara

YAY we love an ecoterrorist getting her due. Takara's art leans full Annihilation. 

My Picture Diary - Maki Fujiwara

This suffered in comparison to last year's alt-manga diary comics from a similar era, Talk to My Back, which was one of my favorite books of the year. Fujiwara's art is very stolid and pretty simplistic and while it works for the subject matter it wasn't my favorite.

River’s Edge - Kyoko Okazaki

This is SO messed up! We are right in the violence and emotional mess of teenagerhood. 

The Yakuza’s Bias v1 - Teki Yatsuda

This gets a little one note by the end of the collection but yakuza falls right into Kpop stan culture is such a funny premise that I didn't mind.

How to Love: A Guide to Feelings and Relationships for Everyone - Alex Norris

This is much cuter and more charming than I thought it'd be.

The Talk - Darrin Bell

Bell is best known for his political cartoons and this brings the same kind of incisive political wit to a longform piece while adding a great deal of empathy.

Transformers (2023) v1 - Daniel Warren Johnson

I am so sorry to DWJ who did his very very absolute best to make me care about Transformers. The art and writing are great I just don't go here.

I simply hate cutesy animal horror.

Deep Cuts - Kyle Higgins et al

I liked this so much it was my end of the year staff pick! It's hard to do comics that really capture the collaborative and improvisational feeling of a good jazz session but this anthology absolutely does.

Somna: A Bedtime Story - Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay

Tula Lotay's art is absolutely gorgeous but I was kind of bored by "what if a Puritan housewife was fucking the devil." 

Watership Down: The Graphic Novel - James Sturm

I think these rabbits are too cute to really capture the horror of Watership Down.

Delicates - Brenna Thummler

It's really difficult to tell a story about a kid who is bullying someone else and have it land sympathetically for both parties and Thummler manages it with an uncommon emotional depth.

Buzzing - Samuel Sattin and Rye Hickman

OOF this hit me right in the psych kid feelings. Very sweet and really captured the feeling of the complicated family dynamics that surround kids with mental illness.

#DRCL midnight children v1 - Shin’ichi Sakamoto

Insane choice to make Lucy Westenras a bishie.

Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise - Tradd Moore

Did not think I would ever be rooting for a Doctor Strange comic but this is the kind of psychedelic universe bending art I would love to see more of from his whole character premise!

Bea Wolf - Zach Weinersmith

Absolutely delightful adaptation of Beowulf for children. Weinersmith really captures the feeling of the old English language in a story about a bunch of little kids defending their treehouse.

HP Lovecraft’s The Shadow over Innsmouth - Gou Tanabe

I don't feel qualified to examine the choice by a Japanese artist to adapt a story about Lovecraft's fear of Chinese and Pacific Islander genes entering Massachusetts. I haven't read much actual Lovecraft but did we all know it was that racist? I mean, I knew he was racist but my god.

The Monkey King v2 - Chaiko Tsai

EXCELLENT adaptation of Journey into the West! I couldn't get v1 in time for voting but the art and the pacing here are just so much fun.

It’s Jeff! - Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru

This is extremely cute but it is ultimately just a cute animal comic.

Earthdivers v1 - Stephen Graham Jones and Davide Gianfelice

I hope you don't need me to tell you Earthdivers is good. It's good.

Birds of Prey (2023) v1 - Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero

I was so dubious about this one that I ended my yuri zine piece talking about it. And then it was in fact really really good. The team dynamics are excellent here and the art is perfectly suited to it (except for one issue with a guest penciller where the art is execrable.)

Shazam! (2023) v1 - Mark Waid and Dan Mora

Waid and Mora are sort of the DC powerhouse couple at the moment and I know that at any minute Mora is gonna switch to only doing covers, which will make me very sad. This was way more fun than I expected to have with a Shazam comic but the kids here are delightful without being cutesy and Waid does a great job balancing Billy being a real character and also a believable hero.

Four Gathered on Christmas Eve - Eric Powell, Mike Mignola, Becky Cloonan, and James Harren

Becky Cloonan's was the story that was nominated in this but unfortunately I didn't really care for it. 

Spa - Erik Svetoft

This was hard for me to read because it is just body horror from start to finish. I think it runs a little long but as far as the horrors of capitalism and the tourism industry go it doesn't get much better than this.

The Most Costly Journey: Stories of Migrant Farmworkers in Vermont Drawn by New England Cartoonists

Really, really good cartooning and storytelling. Vermont is not really what you think of as the front lines of immigration but it's a farming community!

Green Arrow (1988) v1-9 by Mike Grell and others

Honestly the highlight of these for me is that the scans on (website redacted) maintain the letters pages! Grell's Green Arrow tackles a lot of capital I issues with mixed results but I do enjoy seeing the attempt. And it comes off a lot better than Batman comics of a similar vintage that attempt the same thing.

Robin (2021) v1-3 - Joshua Williamson, Gleb Melnikov, and Roger Cruz

Honestly? Delightful. I love to see Damian come into himself and I love to see his cute little romance and I love to see him reading shoujo manga.

DWJ really doesn't miss. This is a very classic grungy space noir in the vein of a Cowboy Bebop or an Expanse but I liked it quite a bit despite being made to feel sympathetic for a space Marine.

OH PLEASE, I need to finish this tonight. I am having an outer body experience about this one as well.

For those who have not been following along with me spiralling out about this, No harsher than its bite is my MotoGP Pecco/Marc 2025 teammate's fic where they fuck. Valentino is, of course, haunting the narrative by being physically present all the time. It's completely from Pecco's perspective, so who knows what is going on in Marc's head. Is Marc playing mind games? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This started I think 2 months ago with a note in my notes app: "Marc fucks Pecco and accidentally calls him Vale. Marc is goinf to eat Pecco alive" (typo included, not corrected) and I didn't really do much with it until I saw this post by @valentin1k (Hi! You don't know me, but credit where credit is due)

Like everything I do, this was supposed to be short, but now it's an overview of the entire 2025 season, and it's actually just dog motifs upon dog motifs upon dog motifs. (Valentino holding Pecco's leash, Pecco becoming Marc's lapdog, Bez as Valentino's unruly guard dog, Marc a starving canine). At one point, Marc calls Pecco Perro and Pecco doesn't notice (thanks for that one Dan!) And I need to finish this, please I am, so close. But new scenes keep adding itself. And they're all plot relevant.

If haven't uploaded this thing by the weekend, I need someone to take me out. But, here are two snippets under the cut, the first one is slightly NSFW:

“I want to try something—” Marc says, as he briefly pulls away. Thirteen minutes — just thirteen minutes between the WhatsApp-notification on Pecco’s phone and Marc pulling him into his motorhome; teeth clashing, Marc’s hand firm on Pecco’s jaw as he pushes him back up and into the now-locked door. Vale had fucking leered at him. Bez had looked confused and a little upset that Pecco would just get up and leave. “Something, a bit more — rough” “Yeah, yeah, sure,” Pecco breathes out.  Marc grins and leans back in, black pupils blown, his other hand fixed on Pecco’s hip as he holds him still against the flimsy panel wood. Somehow, Marc towers over him. He kisses Pecco like he is going to eat him alive. Marc practically purrs his name into his mouth, Pecco — Perro? Marc leads him to the bed by the collar of his shirt, Pecco follows. They don’t make a show of stripping out of their clothes.  “We have a break after this, no?”  Pecco knows that Marc knows, there are three weeks until the next race weekend. But he needs Pecco to agree with him anyway. Pecco nods his head.  “Good,” Marc smiles, “That means no one will see your chest for a little bit.”   No cameras, at least.  And Marc Marquez in on him. Marc’s head is between his thighs and Marc is sucking  (biting, gnawing) painful purple bruises into Pecco’s skin like he’s starving. Marc hasn’t even touched him there yet, but Pecco is already writhing and getting hard underneath him. (It’s a demented type of masochism, that urge to hurt. It becomes second nature to every single rider, that is, if you’re not actually born with it to start. It’s what pushes you to get back on the bike, even after a crash.)  Oh so very slowly, Marc makes his way up. He leaves a trail of marks up on his hips, his stomach, his chest. He takes his excruciatingly sweet time on each and every spot, takes notes on how Pecco responds to the different sensations. Where the bite hurts more, or less, and the fact that Pecco seems to sink more into the pain than into soft touching.  Marc is tearing Pecco to pieces with his teeth. Pecco wants to howl, but Marc gently shushes him, tells him he’s doing good.

For context, they're at the ranch and Vale made Pecco take his shirt off to look at the Marks Marc had left on him:

“This is not what it looks like,” Pecco says, hastily.  Luca blinks, rubs a bit of sleep out of his eye with his fingers. “I don’t even know what it is supposed to look like, but we could hear the yelling up the stairs.”  Bez, who regretfully needs less information to draw his conclusions, opens his mouth. “Well, to me, it looks like Vale is —” “No!” Vale snaps, “no —- the bruises —- they are not mine, Marco.” He breathes out slowly in an attempt to recoup himself. It comes out strained. There’s something so —- something Pecco cannot entirely place present within Vale’s voice. Aggravation? Indignation? Betrayal? None feel correct.  “No, instead he lets Marquez fuck him.”  “Aha,” Luca says, like that explains it. Valentino shoots his brother a dirty look before he can say anything else.  Bez’s eyes widen to the size of tyre-rims.  “Vale!” Pecco yells, “fuck, that’s none of your business.”  He has to remind himself that he is still holding on to his t-shirt. He scrambles to pull it back on over his head, he does not care that it’s inside out and front to back.  “Well, it is our business, that’s our rival!” Says Bez. Our rival?  “And, my teammate!” Pecco reminds them. As if they need a reminder.   If Valentino had not been yelling before, he certainly is now. “Oh, so you’re just doing a team building exercise now? Francesco, he is marking you up like he owns you.”   Pecco sighs. He does not need to defend himself, but he does it anyway. “We just like to be a bit rough.”  “He does not own you.” There is a second part to that statement. Two words left unspoken, hanging hot and heavy in the room like a branding-iron. Pecco can feel its scalding where his nape meets his spine. And Valentino is smart enough to never speak those words out loud. He knows he doesn’t need to, knows it’s implied and knows them to be true, at least in their own minds. It’s why Valentino can’t stand the thought of anyone touching him. Sure, it stings more now that it is Marc Marquez — of all people — but even if it hadn’t been, they would still be here. Pecco would still have to defend his own choices to Valentino. Even though he is twenty-eight. Even though he is doing just fine. Pecco recognises it now, the something that has been making it hard for him to breathe. Valentino is pulling tightly on the lease. He exhales, “I know.”

I would like some of the big names to finally speak out about Dan… like Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, Really the whole victorious cast. I understand everyone has their own time to speak out I too am a survivor of child sexual molestation, but its so important to speak out. Its so important to protect people. All these abusers need to be shown publicly as abusers. Looking at Disney and Julie Plec and Marc Schwann and so many others who have also caused trauma.

Are there, by chance, voice files of the female deputy actually speaking, or a name of the voice actor who recorded the sound effects?

The female Deputy never speaks, but it sounds to me like she has the same voice actor as one of the cultists. You can find a transcript of most of her lines in this document if you search for “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05”. One of the Angels might be played by the same person too.

I know Randy Yuen did motion capture for the Deputy in general, and maybe the male Deputy has his voice, but there is no information about who played “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05” and the female Deputy…

Physical Appearance

Marco is a rather short young man with dark skin and wavy black hair, often mistaken for straight hair because his hair is usually greasy and unwashed. He has a round face with dark circles under his eyes and a lot of acne, for most of the story he has a fairly present mustache and a patchy beard, his face often has cuts and rashes from how he shaves. He also has dark brown eyes.

Marco is also a fat guy, he notes that this is a Klein’s family gene and that he was always the fat kid growing up. He has scars on his wrist up until his upper arms and on his thighs as a result of self harm, he also has stretch marks on his stomach.

Marco is always seen wearing camo pants and combat boots, most of his shirts are black with bands logo on it, he also sometimes wears a lot of different shirts with obscene texts on them.

Personality

Marco has always been a problem child, showing violent behavior with his classmates and being prone to anger. He has a tendency to start fights a lot and would rather punch someone than talk things out. He thinks that all of this is what makes him a real man and that showing any kind of emotion would make him vulnerable and weak, hating himself whenever he cries or lets his guard down.

He’s also known to have edgy humor and often says horrible things because he thinks it’s funny which results in people bullying him for both his appearance but also his strange personality.

With that, Marco tends to gravitate towards a sexual humor that made him look like a creep for most of his life, especially around girls. Tristan notes that his flirting style sounds like sexual harassment.

Despite all that, Marco is also very self conscious and deals with a lot of self hatred, because he never tried to conform to what people wanted him to do, he was often bullied and actually made himself look worse to pretend his isolation from his classmates didn’t bother him.

After meeting Tristan, Marco begins to grow more mature as a person and he actually starts to unlearn his toxic behavior, letting himself be more vulnerable in front of Tristan and trying to communicate more what he’s feeling. He also start having more healthy behavior, taking care of himself, trying to shower more and trying to have a healthier relationship with sex (don’t get me wrong, he is still very much a pervert, he’s just, more healthy in his ways)

As a young adult, Marco tries to get himself together especially about his anger, while he still gets pissed pretty easily, working in retail humbled him and he now takes his anger on video games when streaming (resulting in many yelling compilation about him on youtube)

To his core, Marco is a loud guy, often speaking too loud even when he doesn’t mean to. He likes to have fun and is always seeking what will give him some happy chemicals the fastest. 

Backstory

Marco was born to Dalisay Valdez, born in the Philippines who moved to California in 1989 when she was 15 and Bernhard Klein, born in the American Occupied Zone of West Germany whose family then moved to Connecticut in 1974. His mother is a dentist and his father is an ex-office working military man, they met in Virginia. He was born on April 15th 2007 in Winchester, Virginia when his parents were living there. They then moved to Grundale, Connecticut in 2012 when he was 5. Both of his parents are Catholics.

Growing up, he clashed a lot with his father, starting early when his dad would yell at him for not understanding his homework or getting in trouble. Dalisay was the one who took Marco to have an ADHD assessment and he got diagnosed at 8, his mother often made excuses for his behavior on that diagnosis. Unbeknown to his mother, Bernhard would sometimes slap him as punishment, going as far as breaking his wrist when he was 9. Marco never told Dalisay and his father stopped when Marco began attending middle school.

Marco never had many friends, as stated, but had a childhood friend named Maria whose parents were going to the same church as his parents. They went to the same middle school and Marco quickly developed a crush on her, especially after Maria hit puberty around 7th grade. This coincided with the time that Marco started getting interested in girls.

Marco was often called a lot of variations of “Dog”, “Guard Dog”, “Rabid Dog” throughout middle school for biting people during fights and later, a pun with his failed attempts at getting a girlfriend. During that time, Klara, his cousin, started attending the same middle school, where they would often clash due to their explosive personalities.

At the end of 8th grade, Maria reached her limits with his behavior, getting sick of his never ending weird behavior towards her and other girls and she stopped talking to him, ùaking him lose someone he actually cared about and spiraling down until High School started.

His mindset starting 9th grade was pretty simple, not letting people have their way with him, the only problem was when people started to call him “the school shooter guy” and “Cruz” because of the way he dressed and acted. While Marco never actively made actual threats, he still got into a lot of fights that alerted the school staff.

At the beginning of 2022, he found himself getting intrigued by a classmate of his English class called Tristan and they started becoming friends around April of the same year, this is where Morbid Minds starts.

After some painfully awkward flirting on his behalf and realizing he was bisexual, Marco and Tristan started dating on July 22nd 2022.

Marco graduated high school in 2025 and got into the same college as Tristan as an History Major. He then dropped out during his second year to become a streamer, they moved in together in their own apartment in August 2027 as Tristan started his third year in college.

Not Me Episode 3 Music

the (not very well kept) secret come out. i am indeed the not me rewatch event organizer. i hope you all are having fun!! anyway, i got like 1/3 through this episode without recognizing any music (other than generic background music gmmtv has used before) and thought this was going to be a small post but they really jammed a lot in the last 2/3

The episode starts back up on Stronger which we already talked about yesterday so we're gonna skip that.

Keep Asking Me - Francis Wells

We first hear this song when Yok is talking to his mother about her most recent job and subsequent loss of that job. I don't really think there's any deeper meaning to be found here, other than maybe the fact that it's implied that Yok keeps insisting he can provide for them; making some kind of connection to the title but I think it's a tad bit of a stretch.

Worlds Apart - Rannar Sillard

Finally some good fucking food! This song begins when the unnamed diplomat hopeful discovers White is a nepotism baby. The name could not be more fitting as we now know from his backstory that he and White truly are worlds apart in their social standings.

(I couldn't find the music for the scene but the scene where Yok punches Gumpa is foreplay, don't @ me.)

We see another appearance from Trade a Moment in the fight with Sean and White - where they are indeed sharing another moment (and blows.)

Waste of Time (Instrumental) - CLNGR

This is the song playing right after Yok takes pictures of a knocked out White. This is another one that I don't really think has any deeper meaning unless you want to read into the fight being a waste of time, or maybe Sean thinking tending to 'Black' is a waste of time - but again, it's a bit of a stretch.

In the Haze - At The End Of Times, Nothing

We hear this during my favorite scene in the entire show. This is just before Gumpa LITERALLY INTRODUCES HIMSELF TO WHITE. He says "My name is Gumpa. I'm the owner of this garage." because he KNOWS this isn't Black, his suspicions are finally confirmed, and he wants to set whomever this is at peace. (Still accepting @porschesbabydaddy my beloved's headcanon that Gumpa did a background check on Black and knew he had a twin. This entire scene is just a love letter to my raging competency kink.)

ANYWAY. I think this song is more for White than Gumpa - White is quite literally in a haze, he's still figuring things out, piecing together who is who, figuring out he doesn't quite have the skillset to keep up (and maybe he's still a little bit dizzy from that punch.)

Mountain Top - Marc Torch

This plays immediately when Yok and Dan lock eyes through the chain link fence. If we want to get really flowery (which I always do) we could interpret this as there being a mountain of space between them still, or perhaps Dan is Yok's mountain he's determined to reach the peak of (lmao). Yok has only just begun to understand the scale of Dan and his work, he's just at the very base of the mountain, but someday he hopes to reach the summit. (Also yay more Marc Torch, though interestingly enough this one is NOT royalty free.)

Kids in Love - Tellow, Lill Persson

UGH THE SONG CHOICE. This comes in midway through White cleaning off Sean's bed so he has a place to sleep. The fores sure are shadowing with this song title and it makes my dumb little heart giddy.

Go Season - MILANO

Ahh, the towel tug of war scene. I don't really have any deep comments about this one other than it's another upbeat, jaunty song that pops in during another playful moment between Sean and White.

As Sean says "I don't have a judge for a mother like you." World's Apart surfaces again to punch us straight in the gut.

Feel - Ian Post

I sure am feeling a lot of things. Feel begins just as Sean grabs White's wrist and says they'll sleep like that so White can't slip away. Sean is physically touching White, feeling the skin to skin contact, and perhaps if we want to stretch again (we're going to be so limber today) White is feeling some complex emotions towards someone who was supposed to be perceived as an enemy.

Oh boy do I agree with your assessment that Skybound is able to execute its concepts much better than Earthspark! Despite Skybound technically being another G1 continuity, it feels fresh and original and fun, and DWJ has managed to take something old and turn it into something new, an area in which Earthspark failed somewhat. I mean, I respect what they tried to do, but due to so much being told rather than shown (ie, that one moment where Hashtag asked JB if Megatron’s harrowing story of redemption wasn’t the most beautiful thing he had ever heard? really felt like we were being told to like Megatron rather than simply shown a likeable Megatron, compared to those scenes with OP and the deer, OP saving Spike and a bunch of others with the Matrix, and him bonding with Sparkplug. It just feels more organic, ya know? And it lets the viewer form their own opinions without trying to constantly nudge them into thinking a certain way) made watching it very frustrating, and it felt like the writers were trying to tell us what to think about certain characters, and overall just not letting the story breathe and take shape on its own

Maybe it's just the differences between the mediums (namely the issue of budget for a CG show that reuses assets to save money), or maybe it's the quality and styles of the writers (Robert Kirkman and Daniel Warren Johnson are comic writers, first and foremost), but Skybound, throughout all of the Energon Universe, not just Transformers, has been very good at visual storytelling. Seeing reactions to events, having expressions and scenes tell the story in a way that if just described in the text would fall flat on its face, which in turn creates a richer world. Even in a book like the most recent issue of Cobra Commander, where the main battle is a battle of wits and words, the expressions, the surroundings, and the visuals create something that worlds alone, dialogue alone could not convey.

"Show, don't tell" is a basic tenant of writing, one that every writing teacher worth their salt will preach to their students. However, I can only blame so much of that difference on the medium. While Earthspark will never have the visual spectacle of the Skybound comics (there's a reason I want them animated by Studio Trigger) a lot of it is the writers themselves, who really want to beat the morals and messages of the story into your skull without any care for subtlety or nuance, especially Mae Catt, whose rejected script for a Drift episode had him married to Ratchet and debating a spiritual vs. pragmatic viewpoint with all the subtlety of a brick (and considering how badly Nightshade went over to the point the show got put on blast on Fox News, it's no wonder it was turned down and Catt was apparently let go for Season 2).

I'd forgive even that under the idea that it's a show for a much younger audience than the Energon Universe is for, but then you run into the issue of treating kids like morons, which kids hate. Even Marc Summers (host of Double Dare) pointed out on Quiet on the Set that the attraction of Nickelodeon to kids was that it didn't try to educate, talk down to, or preach to kids (which probably explains why he appeared so horrified at Dan Schneider's antics, but that's another story). Although noting that handicap that it's for kids goes back to a more obvious question, why would kids be invested in what's essentially a pseudo-sequel to a cartoon that ended its initial run of episodes in 1988, before some of their parents were even born? The franchise is literally 40 years old this year, and it's been 35 years since the last initial run of episodes aired, re-cut with a kid talking to a cardboard Powermaster Optimus Prime (while Japan was watching Star Saber battle Deathsaurus and his Decepticon forces). Why would kids connect to something they didn't see, aren't shown, and generally are only told in speeches why they should care about it? Skybound took the time to introduce everyone, in contrast, and make you care, even if you've been apathetic to the Robots in Disguise after years of poorly selling IDW comics that were only for a very specific subsection of a hardcore fan, and gave us reasons to care about the cast outside of the cast telling us why we should care.

Maybe Season 2 (which is going to air somewhere, Hasbro seems to have Paramount obligated to do so) will improve these issues, but I seriously doubt it. I just want Earthspark to finish at this point so we can get something else, even if, in a best-case scenario, an Energon Universe adaptation will take years to be feasible. At least Transformers One seems to be getting good feedback from test screenings.

A note: I have purposefully excluded the children but not the characters based on IRL people.

The children are excluded because as in real life, they are constantly changing and are more prone to feeling judged by society if we try to bog them down with answering a question with a straight answer versus letting them vibe however they are.
