Our sys has so many people from that season!! It’s so good :>

how the hell is AHS NYC so much better then any other season???? like i enjoy all the seasons but NYC would stand as it’s own show not just an AHS season. i love media that talks about AIDS and they do it in such a strangly beautiful and tragic way it feels like the most grounded season of AHS ever

also the serial killer in it. i kinda get him. don’t agree but i understand why he did what he did

it’s just a sad season and just…heartbreaking. i just wanna sob it’s such good commentary on that era

rambling because i love this season so much if you never watched it i highly recommend it!!

I made this a while ago and it's one of the pieces I'm most proud of for Silent Flocks.

Jhula ran as fast as she could from Silk Cradle, even in this torrential downpour. Time was running out and she had so much to do. A part of her couldn't believe she was going to do the one thing she swore she would never do. To call upon the only one who can help her now. She needed to reach him! She needed him to save Lambert! There was no other choice. 

"I have to do this! If I don't, there's no guarantee that Lambert will survive!"

In a brief moment, she looked back. The temple where she was raised for the past seventeen years was getting smaller and smaller. It was her home. But not anymore. Blinking away her tears, Jhula kept running.

"I'm sorry, everyone! I'm sorry Shamura! But I can't let you do this! If the bishops won't heed my words..."

She swallowed some bile that her nerves conjured before proceeding with her declaration. 

"...then I have no choice but to beseech HIM!"

Jhula ran until she was certain she was at the edge of Silk Cradle, made evident by the emergence of green grass. The sacrifice was to be held in Leshy's temple in Darkwood. Even as she ran non-stop, Jhula knew she wouldn't be able to reach Lambert in time. And barging in while all four bishops were there was suicidal.

No. This was her only hope. 

Quickly, Jhula found a spot bare of stone and plants and began her work. First, she made a circle of blood using the large flask she stole from the ritual chamber. Once a perfect circle was made, she continued to pour until the pentagram she saw in the book was complete. The goat ignored the dread and guilt that threatened her stomach and stepped into the circle. From her bag, she pulled out the knife and looked at her reflection. This was it. The point of no return.

Taking in a deep breath, Jhula got to her knees and began the Dark Prayer "With my blood and my devotion, I call upon the Fifth! Master of the Great Beyond, Lord of Souls, and Guardian of the Dead!

"I, Jhula of Silk Cradle, former Archivist of Shamura, spill my blood as a sacrificial beast,

"And call on your true name so that you may hear my prayer!"

With the dagger, Jhula slit her palm, allowing a stream of blood to trickle down and onto the glowing circle.

"BEARER OF THE RED CROWN AND THE GOD OF DEATH: NARINDER!"

As soon as she called the name, Jhula felt a sinister power flow through her. It coiled around her like a serpent, ready to constrict her. As soon as it filled her, Jhula's eyes glowed red against the darkness and warmed her from the cold rain.

"I beseech thee, Crimson Lord! As I pray to you, the last lamb in the world and one dear to me, Lambert, is being led to the headsman's axe in an attempt by the Bishops of the Old Faith to thwart your return! I willingly grant you my body, my blood, my very soul if you could save him! Save the last lamb! I beg of you, the One Who Waits! Please hear me and save Lambert!"

A deep chuckle rumbled through Jhula's mind as she struggled to keep herself steady. The power of the One Below was overwhelming, yet familiar. She knew this feeling from her first death. But Jhula dared not to ask questions other than what she was asking of the dark god. She could sense Him observing her as she conducted the dark rite in his name. No doubt analyzing her to see if her prayer was worthy. The fact that she heard Him filled her spine with ice. 

After what seemed like an eternity, the power faded and Jhula collapsed. But before she passed out, Jhula heard the voice one last time.

"Very well, my newest follower. I shall answer your prayer."

I created this piece after I had asked a question in my head.

"If the prophecy called for a lamb to be Narinder's vessel, why didn't he pick ones that were freshly dead at the beginning? Why did he wait until there was one lamb left before he laid out his offer?" I came up with an idea for Silent Flocks. The reason Narinder never approached the other lambs was because he wasn't made aware. Therefore, a willing soul must perform an ancient rite, the Dark Prayer, to reach him. In ancient times, this rite was used by High Priests and High Priestesses to contact a specific bishop depending on how the incantation was said while standing in a pentagram made of blood. To establish full contact, a small amount of blood from a sacrificial-class beast (lambs, goats, etc.) must be spilt inside. Of course, the bishops were aware of this and erased the Dark Prayer from all but their most restricted books and erased Narinder's name as an added measure. It's a plot point in the fic on how Jhula acquires Narinder's name, as names hold power in various myths, is something that will be revealed in the fic.

Morning Routine

As the sun first rises, so, too, does Cassimir. With the sun hanging yet so low over the horizon, the morning routine begins with the ceremonious lighting of every candle within his loft, beginning first with those in his immediate living quarters, then the bathing room. In the dim glow of candlelight, trim and pressed clothes are selected from the adjacent wardrobe and donned with intimate and meticulous care; every button is buttoned, every pocket liner is smoothed, and surfaces are plucked of stray fuzz or other unwanted particles that love to cling to fabrics so well. A standing, full-length looking glass reflects the contemplative archivist as he dresses, checks, and re-checks his appearance, at last observing the ritual of styling his unruly hair in the same fashion day after day after day. When presentable, a swift wave of the hand magically extinguishes the burning wicks, leaving the loft to illumination from the windows which now bleed natural light from the sun’s rays.

The archivist descends from the loft, down the winding wooden staircase to the central level of the Darkwood library, as yet officially untitled due to the suspected lack of imagination by those who commissioned it. “Cassimir’s Library” seemed appropriate to him, but was quickly shut-down by confidants who concluded that while he was the custodian of the facility, it was simply not his to claim. It was Lord Darkwood’s, they had reminded him, and that put a swift end to his consideration of the name.

And yet he still cherishes it as if it were his own.

Every morning, starting with the first row closest to the staircase, he inspects each and every shelf for damaged or missing catalogues, tomes, or novels. Fingers delicately wave to levitate those that rest too high for him to easily pluck, and the pages shift from beginning to end, wafting to his nostrils a breeze scented with a miasma of aged parchment and dry ink that soothed his soul. This thorough survey he steadily continues until each and every registered specimen is accounted for. Should any require immediate repair, he pauses, hefts the volume to his working desk, and immediately puts his hands to task.

Many of the works that Cassimir secured for the library’s use were delivered directly from his own manor, and nearly half of them have been restored several times over thousands of years. At least twelve of his most cherished tomes he restored himself: the fragile stitching along the spines slowly began to unravel, the pages were dog-eared or torn, and the ink grew dull and illegible. Those he protected far more radically, placing them within a bookshelf behind a false wall, secured by the very same enchantment cast over his loft staircase. In effect, the ward ensured that any who attempted to obtain unauthorized access to the area would find themselves quickly forgetting the errand they were about, and turned entirely around when they came-to. It was the most delicate spell he could think to use as a defense against unwanted advances, either on his cherished possessions or his private, personal living quarters. Only two other souls maintained unrestricted access to both.

So it was that one average morning, at the turn of the new year, Cassimir woke and immediately participated in his recycled routine, as was customary. His particular talent for attention to detail, combined with a long, effective memory, made him immediately aware of a missing tome from his secret, warded collection of twelve.

For some time, Cassimir stood at the base of the bookshelf, staring at the cavity with a dumbfounded expression affixed to his features, all the while various thoughts turned over and over in his mind. Why this particular tome? Of course: the contents of the tome consisted of biographies, a thorough breakdown of past deeds, and, of those who are still alive, the known locations of several legendary Kirin Tor mages that had been ruthlessly banned from Dalaran, or otherwise hunted to nonexistence over the ages due to their alignments, affiliations, and unwholesome actions or magical practices. Who of the two privileged confidants may have had cause to remove it without notification, and had failed to return it? If neither of the two who maintained access to the shelf had the tome in their possession, who would have been capable of first knowing of its existence, then gaining access by force? Another mage, without a doubt, but the only other mages he knew with the skill to locate the false wall and disenchant his ward should have no business stealing the coveted object from his library, nor had he seen such faces enter the library in the last twenty-four hours. That left him with only two options: either Leonaess or Adalea borrowed it, or an unknown person entered the library unseen, discovered his hidden shelf, disenchanted or bypassed his ward, and stole the tome from under his nose.

The cavity was sealed, and the ward replaced before the archivist turned to begin his investigation. It would not end until the tome was recovered, for the Kirin Tor would be very remiss to discover that such a detailed account of wicked deeds and equally wicked souls existed in the first place, and that it may have fallen into the wrong hands.
