April 4th, 2020
What we need now? Relax, meditation, contact with nature, stimulating positive image. August 2011, with my sister Chiarastella Seravalle, we did an on the road holiday all around Corsica on a motorcycle and we arrived back on a tow truck on the 15th of August and a end-of-life moto. It was a wonderful holiday, I forced my sister to a very basic and naturalistic style of life: sleeping where it was possible, even wilderness camping, no foam mattress, or for free in houses of unknown people. At that time I had with me a small videocamera, no smartphone. I've started to collect videos for a nostalgic moment, recording peaceful and relaxing places and sounds in order to use them like pills of welfare. Last summer I uploaded it on my youtube channel in a playlist of ASMR. Their sounds have a beneficial influence on my mind.

🎨#ArtIsAWeapon 📣#NewExhibit 👨🏿‍🎨"Charles White: A Retrospective" on view @themuseumofmodernart October 7, 2018 - January 13, 2019. www.moma.org ____________________ “Art must be an integral part of the struggle…It can’t simply mirror what’s taking place … It must ally itself with the forces of liberation.” - Charles White.
From MoMA: Charles White: A Retrospective is the first major museum survey devoted to the artist in over 30 years. The exhibition charts White’s full career—from the 1930s through his premature death in 1979—with over 100 works, including #drawings, #paintings, #prints, #photographs, #illustratedbooks, #recordcovers and #archivalmaterials. ____________________ Over the course of his four-decade career, White’s commitment to creating powerful images of African Americans—what his gallerist and, later, White himself described as “images of dignity”—was unwavering. Using his virtuoso skills as a #draftsman, #printmaker, and #painter, White developed his style and approach over time to address shifting concerns and new audiences. In each of the cities in which he lived over the course of his career—Chicago, New York, and, finally, Los Angeles—White became a key figure within a vibrant #community of #creativeartists, #writers, and #activists. ____________________

Alan Lomax Collection in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress
If your research or curiosity take you beyond the previously outlined materials, the Library of Congress--where Alan Lomax himself worked--holds an extensive collection of his papers and recordings.  While some of the materials are posted online, especially in relation to Woody Guthrie, there remains no substitute for experiencing the materials in person if you have the means.  Lomax collected an incomprehensible number of recordings and this repository is essential not only to understanding the folklorist, but also developments in American culture in general.

Association for Cultural Equity - Sound Recording Archive
This extensive digital collection of Alan Lomax's recordings, while overwhelming in its quantity, remains an invaluable resource covering the scope of his later career.  The "Sound Collections Guide" proves to be the best way to parse this archive, but unfortunately it is only possible to play one song at a time--this collection would benefit greatly from a jukebox model that would allow the user to get lost in the plethora of music Lomax recorded.  Despite these shortcomings, this internet archive succeeds in making folk culture available, which is just what Lomax would have wanted.
