20240331. 【🥚】
Easter, week one: En avant.
Last year I did a weekly recap through Easter break and I thought I’d do it again this year.
This week has been a little less productive than I hoped, but it got me back into the rhythm. I’d forgotten about my old drawing routines. Also figuring out my own optimal productivity rhythms as I realised that I enjoy waking up early and working more during daylight hours, which will only help as the days grow longer. Trying to work with that to my advantage.

Hi all! Since I've finally begun architecture school I've created a new sideblog to showcase my work, studies, and general interests in the fields of art and architecture! If that sounds interesting to you I can be found at @moderenarch
There's nothing on there yet but I'll be posting pretty frequently once I've ironed all the kinks out of my theme!

100 days of productivity: Day 13
-Company-
This system seems to be working out. During the time, I was away I met a very special person that I have the luck of calling my significant other. He's also a student in another city on his final year trying to wrap everything up too. We've started studying together over discord whenever we get to have some dedicated time for that, as a way to spend quality time together while also motivating each other in our own goals. It is very relieving and refreshing to have this type of moral and practical support, with no fear of judgement.

Was planning to wake up at 6am to do the project that was due today but woke up at 9am... I tried to finish the drawings (only the plans, elevations etc.) before it was time to go to work.... Aaaand I failed. And even worse I had to work overtime bc we had a lot of people coming in. This is the process till now and I feel so tired but I gotta finish this.....

It’s been 4 weeks since I finished my last studio. I’m 3 months into being a full fledge project associate and it feels so weird having free time again after work hours. I clocked out and was freaking out about maybe not having enough time before 11 pm to get hw done but remembered I have no more hw forever.
Weird.
Will start this blog up again when I start studying for my ARE 5.0 exams

Hello! New year, new attempt to keep a semi-regular study blog. We'll see. As I'm currently on summer break, the goals set are entirely reliant on me, so I'll be posting to keep myself accountable. For this weekend, I intend to finish setting up my portfolio and fix my sleep schedule.

20240325. 【🚞】
Easter, prelude: A sunny day out in County Durham.
I took a weekend off for a bit of much-needed leisure before launching into work again. The sun has at last graced England with its presence and I had to make the most of it.
Auckland Castle was beautiful, and wonderfully restored. Greatly interesting to learn about its history as well as that of its many bishops.

Something silly ive realized about myself and my predilections towards visual art/architecture was my ability to “play” within 2D images. I vividly remember pouring over an art book from the Louvre, imagining myself playing within the paintings, interacting with the sculptures- picturing them as alive and vivid. A sillier example: I loved my playmobil sets as a child but what I always loved more was the catalogue. I remember staring at the simulated play scenarios, imagining the stories occurring within for hours. I likely spent more time doing this than playing with the toys themselves. In a really funny way this ability to place myself/my imagination/my psyche in abstract settings has resulted in a real advantage in the foundational abstract architecture courses. I am able to simulate a large amount of potential spatial settings in a 2D image. Shoutout to the Little Einsteins. Its like what if i was a guy in there.

100 days of productivity: Day 1
-Topic-
So, I'm starting another 100 days of productivity challenge which should coincide around the time when I'll be submitting my dissertation. Some accountability seems like a good idea for my procrastination issues. The dissertation has to do with industrial remnants, a very fascinating topic I'd never encountered this extensively. Looking into the history of greek industry has been exciting all in all, it explains so many characteristics when it comes to economy, society and space. In its second part, it focuses into a specific region with developmental interest and some idustrial remnants spread throughout the modern urban landscape, most of them lost and replaced, few present and haunting. I'm planning on linking it with my thesis topic, which would be to reform and reinhabit one of the complexes. I'm feeling like I'm learning again and that will lead me to create, as we do.
