It's been difficult attending classes again, finding it easier to stay home and work on my assessments with upcoming deadlines, rather than working on them and discussing them with my tutor in the classroom. Public transport really eats up most of my day and I find my campus and classroom incredibly unmotivating and uninspiring to work and focus in (and it doesn't help that there is limited space to properly work on).
But today I was able to get out of the house and go to my fiance's university with him. Although I've only been a handful of times to his campus, it's always such a pleasure to visit and study there whenever I have the chance. If only my campus was surrounded by so much greenery like at this campus, rather than grey concrete, and have cosy study spaces like above. Maybe that would motivate me to attend my classes and inspire my landscape architecture designs.

Weird experience idk if its just me but irl archery is different from video game archery in that I end up compensating incorrectly for the distance? Like in video games I know where to aim in reference to height and the arrow dropping, but in person the target is so much closer I need to practise in order to not hit like a meter above the target.
But maybe I'm just stupid??
Putting this in tags so that people can give me their opinion on this

slowly getting my grades back for this semester, and man are they bad. but I haven't felt this free from academic pressures in a long time. I went in with every intention to learn a lot this semester and that's what I did. my grade may not have been that great but I learned so much about the kind of student I want to be, how much of myself I can stretch thin, how to take care myself when stressed. I learned a lot more than just design techniques and theoretical approaches to architecture. I'm excited for the Summer to redo a lot of work and approach things with a level head, but ultimately I can't be upset with myself when in the end I learned so much more about myself than I ever have.

Hello! It’s been a couple of days, today was a tough day, I needed to finish the correction of my first academic article, my first publication! I’m so thrilled, but I spent all my weekend trying to put all my research in 12 pages 😅

Earlier today I attended an online seminar on the topic of healing landscapes and exploring the concept of the relationship between landscapes and wellbeing - answering questions such as how do aesthetics and emotion impact the cultural and environmental management of places and landscapes? If we heal landscapes, can we by extension, heal people? And what of the impact of climate change and disasters in relation to identity and belonging?
I'm really fascinated by this concept of having a symbiotic relationship between the built and natural environment, and consequently, between people and nature. So it was interesting to hear the perspectives of the speakers - one with a background in landscape architecture and one in the medical field - in understanding how they perceive the benefits of a relationship between people and nature, and how that can be converted into their practices.
On a different note, I've been staying home these past few days taking steps to recover from the flu. Doing something unrelated to my studies has made me realise how burnt out I am, which is embarrassing to say so early in the semester. But these assignments are very time and thought consuming - always thinking about them throughout the day on how can I better it, what can I add, etc. I have another assignment due this Sunday (for Design Studio this time) and I'm aiming to complete it by today so that I have the weekend to focus on my Theoretical Frameworks essay (due on Wednesday) and finding that balance between work and play that I desperately need.

09.09.22. | senior design build project
A couple updates since I’ve been so MIA. I’m graduating in Dec and start my job as an associate designer in October. Interning was fun but I’m glad I’m no longer getting paid intern wages
