Gwyn is not a child!
SJM confirmed she's an adult.
Gwyn is older than all of the Archeron sisters. Feyre met Rhysand when she was 19, Nesta is 25-26 in acosf, Elain is 22-23, Aelin was 19-20 when she met Rowan, Bryce is also 23 when she met Hunt. Gwyn is 28 in acosf and if she gets a book with Azriel she will be even older!
She was born fae, while the sisters -especially Elain- are still adjusting to this new reality.
Not having sexual or romantic experiences doesn't equal to being a child!! I've seen this thing happen irl. Your stereotypes are showing.
A bubbly personality, doesn't make you a child.
Being a priestess in the acotar world is not the same as being a nun for example. They have normal lives and they can have sexual relationships as we see mentioned in book 1. Gwyn used to have a normal life, she didn't grow up cloistered. She didn't get the chance to have her first sexual experience because as she mentions she didn't get the chance to participate in the Great Rite and the place she was living was remote. Then she was SAd. She's only been in the library for 2 years, not her entire life.
Gwyn and Azriel don't have a teacher/student relationship. There's no school setting. Nesta, Emery and Gwyn were mostly trained by Cassian, while Azriel was training the rest of the priestesses. Also, Cassian trained Nesta, Rhysand trained Feyre, Rowan trained Aelin, and they all have huge age gaps, yet I don't see anyone complaining about them.
Anyone who claims that Gwyn is a child compared to Azriel, admit you're just looking for excuses to hate on this ship and be done with it, because if you really had a problem with age gaps, you wouldn't be reading these books.

"I ship Elain and Azriel because Elain likes Azriel and I'm pro Elain" is the WORST argument I've ever seen. Let me give you an analogy (with an ending we all know so we don't have to debate over the hypotheticals). If we go by this argument, when Feyre thought she was in love with Tamlin, despite ALL the red flags, we as readers should continue shipping her with Tamlin because he was the man she fancied herself in love with and we should respect her choice... Like, what?? 🤡
So if you see your irl best friend dating a douchebag and they think they're in love with this asshole, you would continue to root for them enthusiastically while waving pompoms in the air because "it's their choice"?? (Forget about the fact that right now we're discussing fictional characters so technically the only choice we need to respect is SJM's... Anyway I digress.)
I'm not saying Azriel is Tamlin. But Azriel and Elain would be toxic together like Feylin was. Examples:
Elain: "I am not a child to be fought over." (*this line is SAID IN FRONT OF AZRIEL AS WELL*) Azriel: Later arrogantly declares to Rhys that he will defeat Lucien in a blood duel over Elain with little effort
Elain: "You can’t have it both ways. You cannot resent my decision to lead a small, quiet life while also refusing to let me do anything greater." (*again, Azriel HEARD her say this*) Azriel: "There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be exposed to."
Azriel was the one who called their almost-kiss a mistake which HURT Elain, he regifted the necklace she returned him (I'm pro Gwynriel but from Elain's POV that would have been OUCH), to him she's just "the third [Archeron sister]" LIKE YO IF MY CRUSH CALLED ME "THE THIRD" I. WOULD. RAGE (another person likened it to a chicken wing and now I can't unsee it), when Rhys asked him about his future plans with Elain he admitted in his mind THAT HE HAD NONE BEYOND HIS SEXUAL FANTASIES OF HER, should I continue?
Just like how Tamlin wasn't the one for Feyre, Azriel isn't the one for Elain. They would crash and burn so hard that their entire ship would go up in flames hotter than Lucien (a near-impossible feat, let me tell you) 🔥
Also I still believe that Azriel is Elain's rebound from Graysen (plus the shock of finding out she's Lucien's mate) and Elain is Azriel's attempt at moving on from Mor. Because let's be honest, Elain is a beautiful addition to the IC for the first time in centuries who is not a mate of his brothers, aka a readily available female whom he can allow himself to get close to because she (probably) won't be betraying the IC.
You don't even have to ship Elucien to be anti Elriel and pro Elain. But really, between Azriel and Lucien it's EASY to see that Lucien is the better male for her. He gives and respects her space, he doesn't press her about their mating bond, he BELIEVES in her (volunteered to go look for Vassa based on Elain's visions alone, btw Azriel was also there and he did no such thing, in fact he was dissuading Mor from volunteering herself lol), he looks at her with longing, he's sunshine personified and she needs it like air, they match SO WELL (they're both more gentle and hate violence, quite sociable, love traveling)...
I know this post sounds very anti Azriel, but it's in truth it's just anti his relationship (or lack thereof) with Elain. Because as someone who is pro Azriel, likewise I ship him with Gwyn as she makes him feel calm ("something restless in him settled" in the BC), she banters with him and makes him feel amused, his shadows (his eternal companions) like her, when he's around her he doesn't feel unworthy of himself, she displays similar interests as him (fighting and singing), she challenges him and I like the person he becomes when he is around her, and more importantly I think Azriel does to, instead of coddling her he trusts her (his faith in her during the Blood Rite), etc.
I rest my case. For now.
#pro elain archeron#pro elucien#pro gwynriel#pro healthy relationships#pro azriel#lucien is the least problematic dude in the whole series#there I said it#antielriel#anti e/riel#anti ewriel#save elain from the e/riels

Asking about Seers again because I think SJM may not expound on this power. We know seers in ACOTAR can see the future. Other fantasy stories define their seers as those who can peer through time (past and present, not just the future) and space. What do you think is the extent of Elain's powers as a seer?
For Elain, Lucien, and Helion, all three present with powers of location and sense. For Elain, hers is similar to sensory tracking ( use sense and locate other people and/or objects by focusing on them, allowing them to find their location and sense their environment.) but I don't know the mechanics for Lucien and Helion. I think of theirs as a radar. Your thoughts?
SJM has delved a little into seers in both ToG and CC, distinguishing them from mystics and oracles in CC, where they are part of the witches subsect. This makes me wonder if Elain might be the thread that connects the two series, especially since she is the closest to Papa Archeron.
You may be right about how other series treat seers but I've always felt that SJM wants to portray this through the Archeron sisters: Feyre, who can look through memories, represents the past; Nesta practices Still training (meditation), focusing on the present; and Elain would be able to look into the future.
I do think that Elain can dreamwalk (visit dreams, get visions from dreams) and might even act as a mouthpiece, sort of like how the Oracle of Delphi works, but I would love SJM to delve more into her powers. From what I can tell, in ToG, seers seem to work in groups, at least for the Crochan Witches, and Baba Yellowlegs was a seer whose magic was suppressed when we were introduced to her. Lucien seems to be linked to Elain's powers, as her visions get clearer when he’s around and disappear when he’s not. Lucien also has many ties with the number 7, which is significant in CC, and there is a lot of folklore IRL surrounding the Seventh Son.
As for the second part, it's another link connecting Elain to the Day Court. I believe Helion is similar to Elain in tracking the Suriel but more refined, given that he found the Lady of Autumn at the nick of time and Feyre when she was with the Suriel. The Suriel said she saw two brown eyes looking at them, and since Helion found Feyre after they died, it could be the same as Gwyn's remark about timing during the Blood Rite followed by Az's statement that timing is the key to spying.
I still don't believe that Lucien's mechanical eye is as powerful as he makes it out to be. I think he uses it as a cover for his actual powers since Vanserra's sons grew up knowing to mix truth and lies and not reveal what they know.
Speaking of Vanserras, I think Lucien also uses his keen sense of smell, exhibited by both Eris and Gwyn. He found Feyre in ACOMAF when he received a tip from his contact in the Night Court and then tracked her scent. He also returned with Vassa and Papa Archeron in a month despite knowing very little to start.
I think it's a significant declaration for Elain to wish to become reacquainted with her powers as she becomes more accepting of her transformation and wants to be more useful. Her story is eerily similar to what Feyre was going through in the beginning of ACOMAF. I do think this is intentional, to show that Feyre was never meant to stay in the Spring Court to reach her highest potential, just as Elain wouldn’t thrive in the Night Court. Not every change of environment has to be volatile or due to trauma. Some places are just meant to be temporary and leaving because it no longer serves you, isn't something to be frowned upon.
Thanks for asking!

Creating a bio for funsies:
Hi! I’m a 22 year old girlie who loves me some good romantasy and romance. I read acotar about a year and a half ago and have since reread and am planning another one soon
irl I’m a pediatric nurse so it’s nice to escape away from some of the really sad things I see into faeries and love
I relate super hard to Elain Archeron and she’s my favorite Archeron sister. I just see a lot of myself in her so I really enjoy reading fanfic and content surrounding her and seeing everyone’s different perspectives of her character as we haven’t been able to get that from sjm yet
Wild, but I don’t personally have a preferred ship for Elain. Elriel and Elucien both have pros and cons and I know whichever way sjm swings it will be a lovely story I’ll devour in one day haha. I like consuming both ships content and I’ve currently written for both but if I dive a bit deeper into writing for Elain idk which I’ll lean more towards
My user name comes from my love for Elain as well as my childhood love for Rosetta from tinker bell (I love me a good garden fairy) and my angel numbers :)
Anyways I’ve had this blog for a while but recently rebranded and so I thought now was as good a time as any to introduce myself!
See my ao3 here: gardenfaerie222
I also have a Batman story up on there if anyone is interested in that! Be warned, I’m terrible at finishing stories that aren’t one shots :’)

I recently read a comment where an El/riel said that Az could never end up with Gwyn just because she is an “irrelevant nobody”, while he in one of “the main and most important characters”. And they go on saying things like “she is unworthy of him”, “he deserves someone insanely great” and bla bla bla…
Beside the fact that the whole post sounded pretty, uhm… aggressive and anti-feminist I guess? It made me realise that maybe some people ship Elucien or El/riel because being Elain’s partner means… more “screen time”?
We know that the ACOTAR series follows the journey of the Archeron sisters, and the only one left is Elain, whose journey basically still have to begin and find a properly conclusion. So, it’s logically implied that, as Nesta’s book became a Nessian book, Elain’s one will also become her LI’s ones (but SJM looooves feminism, at least as Rhysand does ;) ).
Sincerely, I’m pretty sure that, deep down in our unconscious, this is the reason why we all stan a ship or another, and I know it’s kinda a cynical though and not so feminist, since it implies Elain being a sort of “prize” for more screen time and more fangirl internal screams (yeah, because we all are fangirl who just want more hot-fae material at the end ahahah).
The point is, if only we were a little more conscious of it, we could understand each other better and, in an idillic word, maybe stop writing insults each other for supporting a ship we don’t like. We are all on the same boat, thirsty for our best men in fictional books, so there’s no point on being mean or writing a poem about how a character sucks for this or that reason, especially if it could only hurt someone else who feels a strong connection with that character…
Sorry for this looong rant ahaha, but I really like your blog. In your post you’re always polite so I though you where the right one to share my cynical vision of the ship war with. 😊
Hello! Just to be clear, the main reason I am posting this is because you were talking about the fandom in general, rather than being a butt about anyone in particular (other than whoever posted about Gwyn being a nobody, RIP because sjm is going to do what she wants with whatever character she wants. Chaol was just an annoying ass royal guard at first, too.)
I do agree with you about screen time. And that yeah, when we get Elain's book, it will not just be hers but also her love interest's book. I kept insisting on calling acosf the Nesta book before it came out, but... idk, I could go either way. We definitely didn't learn as much about Cassian as I think people had hoped to, but Nesta's issues were at the forefront and more pressing, anyway. The narration did follow Cassian at times, and we got to know some of his inner thoughts. So yeah, I assume that whenever we get Elain's book (and whoever else's we are going to get) then the narration will likely follow her love interest and we will get his (let's be real, it won't be a her) inner thoughts, and probably learn a bit more about him.
(This has made me start thinking about perspective and how people are struggling to understand the difference between first and third person and being unreliable, hang on let me grab a drink 😭)
And I definitely agree that if we could just accept that we are generally here for the same reason - obsessed over acotar - then maybe we might possibly, potentially, not be at each other's throats all the time? People just gotta make this their whole personality though, like if someone on the internet, who they will never meet irl and who otherwise has absolutely no bearing on their lives, disagrees with them, then *pearl clutch* omfg call the police their whole identity has now been put into question.
Calm. Down.
The most annoying thing about all of it to me is that it's all over MEN. People shit on Elain and Gwyn for a DUDE. And maybe it's not because of the ship war but people also shit on Mor for a DUDE. How about we just don't?
I'll be out here, doing my level best to tip the scales all by my lonesome by shitting on the dudes for the sake of Elain, and Gwyn, and Mor :)
Okay but back to your point, that people are actually invested in whoever the secondary character is going to be, I can see that. I've seen plenty of people say they don't like Elain, but will read elucien/elriel. It makes me sad tbh. I always see one of sjm's strengths - or at least one of the things I enjoy the most - being that she centers women in her stories. I used to assume that that's something that other readers enjoyed as well, but I guess not. People can like what they want for whatever reasons they want, but some of these discussions make it very, very clear how they feel about women, queer people, and people of color! Even if they won't say it out loud.

The thing that irks me about papa archeron is the fact he had no clue on the level of educations his daughters had, like, yes the responsability is all his yet there was shit things happening that i believe he had "no motivation" to try working for example (my english is bad, i kinda mean he was too depressed to work like, even if he wanted he couldn't, idk if it makes sense, sorry), but the education things completely irks me and that is the main reason i call him negligent, like, it was in a point that he never even metion it as even nesta and elain didn't know feyre was illiterate.
Or worse, he knew but didn't teach her it, and again, didn't even mention it to his other daughters (bc idk about elain, but nesta loves books and she would teach feyre to read!
Hey anon
That's fair, if we act like acotar is any sort of rational story but it's not. The character we are talking about doesn't even have a name.
Feyre got a basic education up until maybe 8 or 11 years old, but obviously when things changed it might have been her sisters who took charge of her education - why didn't Nesta or Elain teach her to read? I think later on Nesta says she didn't know Feyre was illiterate? Maybe Papa A also didn't know.
Later when Tamlin offers to teach Feyre how to read, she doesn't want to.
The writing itself is inconsistent and we don't have a clear story. Papa A doesn't know anything because sjm didn't write him to be a person.
Also as insane as it is, Papa A knowing nothing about his own daughters isn't that surprising, irl fathers notoriously know nothing about their own children. They don't know their kid's teacher's names, their kids' blood types, sometimes their allergies.
Also
There is valid criticism to be made of Papa A: when everything was okay, before it went wrong, he stood by and watched as Nesta was abused and Feyre neglected. That's terrible and he should be dragged.
But cabin years? I just don't think it's fair to brush off everything there as actually his fault
( It's very late so I'm sorry if this is worded a bit strangely )

A Response to a Feyre Anti
I made a post recently explaining the dread of having to watch Feyre be abused by her sisters and father, in the Tv adaption. And a Feyre anti made a response, to something that should not be criticized at all considering what I said was just the truth? Feyre was abused. Not only that but they went on and completely twisted the narrative to fit their own ideas and in the process made Feyre out to be cruel and Nesta a saint. complete bull.
I will not be tagging the anti bc they have me blocked (shocker), but also I do not want anyone to go after them, if you come across the post, I don't want it to be through me. it's as much respect I can give to them.
I usually do not respond to those who have something to say with a post of mine or are blatantly talking about me on their blog, unless they're just spreading absolute lies about me or what i "said", it's usually a waste of time to do so. but this post attacked Feyre with outrageous lies and a complete backward interpretation of what actually happened in acotar, so as respectful as I can be, I will be analyzing the anti-response and what truly happened in acotar.
"the audience will only see two sisters fighting-not abuse" "it’s not Nesta you need to worry about. It’s audiences calling Feyre a big dumbass and a bitch" -from anti
if the audience has basic human compassion and empathy for humans IRL or fictional, they will see what's obvious from the start. Feyres abuse. how is it going to look, when they see Feyre walking through the woods, shaking from the cold, starving from hunger, and struggling to find food for her family? only to later see Nesta's treatment of Feyre?"
in the anti's post, they said Feyre was just as "heinous" to Nesta.
is Feyre the one calling Nesta a pig? a smelly pig? ordering her to take her clothes off?
no, it's not, it's dear Nesta. the text goes as "I took my time, swallowing the words I wanted to bark at her" oh yes... how cruel of Feyre. how heinous of Feyre to...stay quiet... at the verbal abuse.
in the same image we see Feyre ask Nesta to do something (kindly might I add) and then inquire why she didn't chop wood like she needs to.
what does Nesta do? acts like a brat and insults Feyre...once again.
considering I'm going off by the story and not the actual screenplay, and assuming they stay true to the story; will the audience not be disgusted by Nesta's behavior? I mean they just saw Feyre struggle to find food and they expect Feyre to go home to a family happy and appreciative of Feyre but instead, they get this familial abuse.
the anti said Feyre basically tells Nesta this:
"If you keep bitching at everyone like this no one will want to be around you or you can’t marry this guy because you’re a waste of space to me"
but what do we see?
"Believe me... the day you want to marry someone worthy, I'll march up to his house and hand you over. But you're not going to marry Tomas."
the word worthy, did that not catch your eye? Feyre said Nesta will have to marry someone worthy, someone, who will treat Nesta kindly and give her the life Feyre thinks her sisters deserve. bc Feyre does think that IDK why anti feyres think Feyre despised Nesta so much, Feyre loved her sisters.
what the anti fails to realize here is that Nesta marrying Tomas would have been actually pretty great for Feyre. in the sense that, Feyre would no longer carry the burden of her sister. Feyre would not have to worry about feeding one more mouth. or worrying about Nesta's constant stealing of Feyre's money. Feyre does not think Nesta is a "waste of space" to her, if she did, it would have been easy for Feyre to discard Nesta, and allow her to marry Tomas. the anti has that twisted.
but that is not even the worst part of the scene. did you see the shameless slut-shaming that came out of Nesta's mouth? how will the audience take to that? do you think most of the younger generation will take it lightly to see a sister slut-shame a sister? a woman putting down another woman? in this social climate? where the feminism movement is alive and flourishing. will they be okay with it? will they still blame Feyre and be mad at her the way the anti says they will be? I hope not otherwise I'm losing faith in humanity.
Lovely words Nesta spews at Feyre. I admit Feyre should have told her then and there that Tomas is abusive. but let's think: Feyre is 19 years old, the youngest, has never had any raising by a parental figure, has been neglected by her whole family, where would Feyre learn to calmly talk to an overgrown brat like Nesta? Feyre telling Nesta who Tomas truly is the duty of a parent, not a sister. I will not condemn Feyre for not knowing that was the perfect time to tell Nesta who Tomas is. especially when Feyre is being tormented and verbally/emotionally abused, its kinda hard to think about something else while you're being told all these horrible words. to us its easy to see where Feyre went wrong but unless you're in the exact position Feyre was in. no one has any room to talk. and even then, every person is different in situations like these.
this part was me analyzing the interactions between Feyre and Nesta since anti had reasons to believe Feyre was just as bad to Nesta and that the audience would see that and hate Feyre. I am now going to respond to the second part of the Feyre Anti's response.
"How will an audience of non-fans react to her not reaching out to her family to tell them she was okay after the reconciliation between her and Nesta? Or not inviting them to the wedding?"- from anti
moving onto acomaf now.
Idk maybe the audience will see Feyre, a depressed, lonely, individual in an abusive relationship while being manipulated by other individuals she called friends, and understand and empathize with her. all throughout the beginning and half of acomaf, Feyre is in critical depression. she wholeheartedly believes she should not be alive. that she is not worthy. she doesn't eat, all she does is sleep, self-care is not important to her or others so why would letting a family know she's okay, a family who BARELY ever cared about her, be a priority? it doesn't seem like Nesta or elain or her father was really fazed by Feyre's lack of communication. her father left on a trip, elain got engaged and Nesta, well we didn't see a tearful welcoming to Feyre on Nesta's part did we?
anti, where is the outcry of her "family" not even really caring if Feyre was safe or not, of what happened to her? it's not like they thought she had died, otherwise, where was the mourning or funeral? no, they just didn't care.
see this is where I know when anti is just full of bullshit. why, WHY, would Feyre invite her family to wedding full of fae? the creatures elain and Nesta fear and hate? for all the talk many anti's spew about Feyre being inconsiderate to Nesta, to her family, you would think Feyre maybe just knows a fae wedding would be the last thing they would want? even then, does Feyre owe them an invitation to her wedding? does she owe them an update on her life? nope. Feyre owed them nothing.
"How about her shit-talking Nesta to a bunch of strangers then having the audacity to ask her to get involved in a war. Oh! This is after she comes into her house and insults their hospitality." - from anti
I hardly think Feyre confiding in individuals who she learned to care about and laying out all the trauma Feyre endured with her family is "shit-talking" but for argument's sake, let's say it is. I still don't see what's wrong? after years of pent-up anger and hurt, would you not let go of everything you withheld inside and explain what was done to you? how you felt? Feyre telling the IC her life story, which contains Nesta's abuse and her family's neglect, was a form of therapy for Feyre. I never read a line where Feyre calls Nesta a "cold-hearted bitch" or called elain "a lazy ditz" she just said the truth. no added embellishments. Cassian was the one who shit-talked Nesta during the dinner scene, never Feyre.
I still don't understand why antis are so against Feyre asking her sisters for help? like the war didn't involve them? they're humans, and you know what the war was about? Hybern wanting to take control of the human lands like they once did and turn them into slaves. those humans included Nesta and elain.
"They could have left the continent" correct, except elain was engaged and refused to leave Grayson. which meant Nesta refused to leave elain. but even so, isn't it the duty of humans to band together and work to overthrow a race of people who want to torture and keep them as slaves? the queens certainly weren't doing their jobs. Feyre asked to use "their" house to meet the queens bc where else would they do it? the queens trust the fae less than Nesta or elain did. but even so, Feyre asking to use their house was a courtesy, that house is rightfully Feyre's. she is the one who sacrificed herself to leave with Tamlin. she did it bravely, courageously, and they got that house thanks to her. they owed Feyre everything. and the only one who acknowledged that was Elain.
that war involved elain and Nesta whether they or Feyre or the anti's liked it or not. not even considering that Nesta and elain are Feyre Archerons sisters, yeah, their family name alone puts a target on their back.
How did Feyre or the court insult Elain's and Nesta's hospitality? You mean when Feyre realized human food differed from fae food? something she did not know about bc she's barely been turned to fae and only had eaten fae dishes? Feyre's grimace towards the human food was an involuntary reaction to someone who is still learning their new body. or was it when Cassian called out Nesta for her cold treatment towards Feyre? if that's the case then fuck decency, I would call out a fake bitch in my presence from minute one. you cant call what Nesta did "hospitality" when all she did was insult Feyre when she didn't even care that Feyre had died, or lost her love bc of abuse, or that her body was changed against her will.
hospitality: the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.
did y'all read something different bc this for sure was nothing Nesta gave to her guests?
----
the rest of the anti post moves towards Rhysand and his actions UTM which I won't go into because I'm mainly just addressing the false interpretations this anti had to say about Feyre and her family.
I'm not sure how to sign off now lol, but I guess just that I hope this was enough to show how this anti's arguments were completely ludicrous and have absolutely no compassion for Feyre, and instead all the compassion for Feyre's abusers. This anti had a real spin on what the actual story was, and I hope the evidence I provided was enough to show that. Anyways yeah my brain is fried, and I'm done arguing with Feyre anti's for a while now, I need to go praise my queen Feyre so I can receive some semblance of peace.
anyways, stan Feyre for clear skin xx

elain for the character asks?
Considering how long it took me to find the prompt bit, I think this has been languishing in my inbox for a shamefully long time! I’m so sorry- I am terrible at asks, but I love them and thank you :) How I feel about this character: MY GIRL. I love Elain, I love writing Elain, I hate beyond the scope of reason how Feyre sees/talks about her sister.
As someone who, irl, has also been just like, wildly disregarded for/while presenting extremely feminine, I feel for her. Elain is still an Archeron. She’s got fire in her- even the baking thing. Noble Archeron Daughters were clearly never allowed to learn basic domestic skills, it is a rebellion. That’s our theme overall- I think there’s so much that gets swept under the rug, or goes unnoticed with her.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: So, in fic, I have thus far paired her with: Lucien, Azriel, Lucien AND Azriel, and Morrigan. If you come from the frame of canon, Elain can be shipped with basically anyone, because we know...almost nothing about her actual thoughts/feelings.
I also...have a wild rogue option.
1. Lucien. Come on- let Elain have some of that mischievous charm! that canonical good Autumn banging! Let them get together with aching slowness and fuck off from the Night Court that underestimates and sorta dislikes them both forever. They’re mates for a reason, even if I do also love the idea of a platonic bond.
2. AZZY BABY. Look, despite ACOWAR, the great charm of this ship remains almost purely aesthetic. They are a COMPELLING combination. Her hair tangled on his armor! Azriel blushing! the fact that they both have so, so much going on below the surface and seem to, at least on Azriel’s side, understand that. BUT. BUT. unless canon can find a way to double back on SJM changing her mind from ACOMAF’s clear Az + Mor Forever bullshit, and this is just...here Az, have another beautiful blond lady to protect, I WILL RIOT
3. Why have a love triangle...when they can all love each other?? (I remain steadfast in the fact that queer Az like...makes the MOST sense, but I digress.)
4. Babes, stay with me: Jurian. I personally think that his actual role in canon will be to become Vassa’s king...but canon is wildly unreliable. ACOFAS, nightmare that it is, is our bridge to the future.
Elain is lowkey obsessed with regaining her humanity. It is Not Subtle. Feyre, because she’s Feyre, frames this as Elain still being in love with Greyson...which I don’t really buy. It’s about what Grayson represented: safety (which a la Jane marrying Bingley absolutely extended to her also being able to protect Nesta, fight me), familiarity, the sort of life Elain has thought she’d have since childhood. Everything around her is unfamiliar and threatening...and furthermore, the lady wants her original body that was forcible taken from her.
Jurian is our One Human Hero. He’s team humanity 1000%. Elain is going to wildly fuck his world view: she’s High Fae, but she was born human. She’s a faery, and she wants to be human- but all the good parts of Human Elain didn’t just disappear with transformation. It is DELICIOUS.
Furthermore, we get cogent elements of other Elain ships- Jurian is fucking ancient, he’ll understand her war trauma. He’ll fucking throwdown to defend her. He’s in the unique position to understand both Magic Powers, but also, her human heart. He probably gets, considering his own history, more than the people around her are willing to, that Elain Is Not Okay.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Not to be the most on brand, but NESTA. I always find it so ridiculous in canon, that every single time Elain says something cutting or like..remotely sassy, Feyre is like ELAIN? Elain?
Elain and Nesta are sisters- AND best friends. Elain has more social graces..but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t also have those thoughts. They get along- they’re a team.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Not to always scream the same thing- but. I want her a thousand miles from the Night Court. She is so transparently going through the motions, and they like her for that?? Its SO unhealthy. There’s no respect for her as person, she’s fully boiled down to The Nice One We Have to Take Care Of.
She is a GROWN WOMAN, and is she is NOT OKAY. I want her to snap. Burn down that house Rhys bought her. Fuck all the way off like, I’m a seer, I control my own destiny, I am allowed to be in pain.
Even if what she wants in the end is a quiet, normal life, I want her to get the chance to choose it. Not because her younger sister bought it for her and shoved her into it so they’d have more pleasant smalltalk to make at family dinners. It is...not that insane for grown family members to love each other and still live lives with healthy boundaries.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Oh jesus, so many things. The limitation of Feyre’s Little Sister goggles is the most telling with Elain, because unlike Nesta, Elain doesn’t always have the tools to make herself heard.
Okay, but actual prediction: I’ve talked about this previously, but I think Elain going Full Faery is going to be an intrinsically more magical journey than Feyre or Nesta. She sees the future- her power isn’t a tool (Feyre), or a compliment to her being (Nesta)- she became something else. I want her to be the wild one. Just, utterly fey in the literary sense, otherworldly, scary beneath the prettiness! I want her to be allowed to have the range.

right i’m just gonna put in one post what culture/ethnicity my mind put each court as in ACOTAR.
**DISCLAIMER**
If at any point in this post I am using the incorrect language to describe any of these cultures/ethnicities please tell me immediately because this in no ways is meant to offend. This is me trying to add more flavour because sjm always makes her main characters white
Archeron sisters;
In my brain they have always been white, but this may be due to the first-person POV making me feel like I am Feyre, so honestly for the Archerons I feel like everyone is going to just see them as the same ethnicity as themselves
Spring Court;
Tamlin has always given me very American surfer boy vibes with the blonde hair blue eyes, so imma leave this court as white. Think either Hitler’s ideal appearance with the blondies or California surfer dudes
Summer Court;
My baby Tarquin is black and gorgeous and no one can tell me otherwise. I think SJM did say he was black in her description of him but i’m not sure?? But anyways when I say Black I mean this dude is dark-skinned Black. And he is amazing and I love him and he can do no wrong fight me
Autumn Court;
So Autumn court we were sort of introduced to last, and I knew I really wanted each of the courts to be of different IRL ethnicities. So I reckon Autumn Court is hispanic (I don’t know if hispanic is a race or a culture someone let me know so i can correct it if i’m wrong thank you). Sjm did say that there skin was tanned???I believe??? but yeah that’s all I have to say about Autumn Court, I don’t like the characters there lmao
Winter Court;
I will give this one to SJM, that them being as pale as snow does work here. But I still imagine Viviane as looking South Asian, so if anyone could find me an explanation I could give to why she would be of a different ethnicity to everyone else in her court that would be fab
Dawn Court;
Dawn Court is South Asian. Periodt. I don’t need to explain myself. Thesan looks godly and is vibing with his gay lover. They don’t need to explain themselves to mere mortals.
Day Court;
Again, Day Court is Black. I’ve already mentioned this in a previous post but I’ve actually casted Winston Duke as Helion in my mind. Like as soon as sjm mentioned the thick thighs and biceps, my mind went Winston Duke Winston Duke Winston Duke Winston Duke. So yes, they are also Black and gorgeous
Night Court;
This again, hit me as soon as we first entered the Night Court in acomaf and learnt about the Illyrians (I do not wish for this to sound like I am stereotyping. I have utmost respect for this culture and fully supportive of them taking back their lands that were stolen from them by white people. If this does come across as offensive and stereotypical in the slightest, I sincerely apologise, as that was never my intention), I envisioned them as Native American.
To conclude, it is not that fucking hard Ms SJM to add diversity to your books.

Just my 2 cent worth opinion from the other side. Not to start a war because as I always say I'm not in SJM head and that's just what I think, since I was scrolling in the Elain tag and I've never thought about this subject from your pov.
That's not a very strong argument if you really think about it, also irl you stay with the people you have the chance to know and spend time with.
As Elain could end up with Azriel if she won't have the opportunity to know and spend time with anybody else.
But, as an elucien fan what I want is Elain away not specifically from Azriel but from the NC.
For different reasons: I don't want her to stay in the shadows of her sisters, or to feel compelled to be some kind of warrior when she never showed any interest. There's a lot of potential in the acotar plot outside the NC and I would love to read about it, this one is the main reason for me. The romance is always connected to the plot too and I see her and her power fit better elsewhere. She was described at first like a social butterfly, she hosted the meeting with the human queens and now she is just the quiet Archeron sister. Her strength has always been different from Nesta and Feyre, she's no warrior, no hunter, and sorry but imo she is no spy: the skill of keeping secrets doesn't make you a spy, Lucien kept secret when he provided samples for Nuan in acowar and no one said he's a spy.
IF my ship has to be endgame, than I want them 100% sure and in love with eachother, I don't want her to look at Az and questioning her feelings for Lucien. Like i dont want Lucien to look at Elain and feeling guilty towards Jesminda. And I'm happy she can spend time with Azriel if that could make her realize that she needs something else or there's no future for them past a temporary crush or sexual attraction.
All these theories about Elain leaving the Night Court are so obviously created for one purpose, and one purpose only.
It’s not so Elain can have an adventure, or find herself, or grow, or whatever the antis hastily slap on at the end.
It’s to get Elain away from Azriel.
Because the antis know, just like Elriels know, that if both Elain and Azriel stay in the Night Court, they’re going to end up together.
If your ship depends on another ship having to be physically distanced from each other…babes, I’ve got news for you.
Because I have not read one El*cien theory that doesn’t require Elain to be away from Azriel. If Lucien and Elain cannot be together in the Night Court, if Elain has to leave all her friends, family, and safe place she’s made for herself behind, then maybe, just maybe, they’re not meant to be together. 🤷🏼♀️

I don’t know if you’ve answered this before or if you mind answering but if you haven’t and don’t why do you prefer Lucian with Elain over Azriel? I’m team Azriel so I’m just curious
I have answered this before, but I think in different asks I highlighted different reasons, so I’m going to organize them a bit:
The “Communication” Thing:
Elain is one of the most passive creatures in existence. She doesn’t communicate. She just kind of goes with things. Azriel isn’t much of a talker either. He just kind of accepts things as they are and adjusts.
Two passive people do not make great communicators, which is really what you need in a relationship. I don’t think either would be able to voice differing opinions or find their way out of disagreements. They’d each just sort of accept stuff until one day they wake up and suddenly realize the relationship has no significant foundation.
The “Mate” Thing:
Let me start off by saying this: Elain isn’t any lesser because she has a mate, and the bond doesn’t give anyone claim over her.
Stepping out of the story and talking IRL now: Lucien has been around since Book 1 and I really do care about him as a character. I’d like to see him with a mate. He’s a good character who deserves that soul-deep bond Feysand enjoy.
I also love Azriel and want him to have a mate. He’s been pining after the same female for five hundred years, I want him to find someone he can love in a truly soul-deep way. Again, like what Feysand have.
I’m not fond of Elain yet. She’ll grow on me, I’m sure, but so far she’s been wishy-washy and passive. I’m not considering her character in this phase of my answer not because I’m saying she doesn’t get a vote- both parties get equal votes- but because I just don’t care about her character. So I answered from the standpoint of caring about Lucien and Azriel’s characters.
The “High Lord” Thing:
Lucien will be High Lord of Day, a Court tailor-made for Elain. Day Court sounds like her idea of paradise, and logically it makes sense that her story might “end” there.
That answer wasn’t from a reader perspective, it was from an outside person-analyzing-book perspective. I know people will want to reply saying “That will be how she proves she loves Az!” but again, this entire overall answer is one big “I don’t ship it”.
The “Equal” Thing:
Mates are equal- one of the Mate rules that is consistent between ACOTAR and ToG.
Elain is passive, but she is still among young Feyre’s abusers. She still takes advantage of her little sister and is greedy and vain (wanting new boots when Feyre’s are utterly ruined and it’s mentioned she also steals precious coin when Feyre hides it). Just because she’s not a flat-out bitch like Nesta is towards Feyre doesn’t mean she’s blameless.
Lucien is passive, but he is still among Feyre’s abusers in Spring. He tries to help her- which puts him ahead of Elain in terms of score- but still lets Tamlin do what he wants. The only difference is he stands up to him in private. He shows genuine care for Feyre’s mental and physical health, but overall he is compliant in what happens.
Elain and Lucien are both growing out of that and learning to take a meaningful stand for what’s right. There’s a lot of character growth to be found with them pulling one another along and healing the damage they helped cause with previous indifference.
The “It’s Too Symmetrical” Thing:
Some people like to say “Everyone ending up with a mate is too symmetrical”.
Every Archeron sister ending up with an Illyrian “brother” is symmetrical too.
The “Vassa” Thing:
That’s grasping at straws and the fandom knows it.
The “Overall” Thing:
To me, so far at least, they just feel like platonic siblings. I don’t see it, so I don’t ship it.
The “What About” Thing (the fandom does):
If Elriel is endgame, it’s up to Maas to convince me, not fans with their theories.
The “Maas Already Said Elucien Was Endgame” Thing:
Maas already said Elucien was endgame (you’ll have to google it, it’s a pain to hunt down the screenshot).
I hope that answered your ask! I was trying to mentally scroll through and include a quick burst of every answer I’ve given to the various asks :)

frankly i dont understand that anon about cassian. because he absolutely defends nesta multiple times throughout the book. and apologizes for the 'everyone hates you' comment. he tells rhys off for being an asshole to nesta several times, he says that nesta has the right to know about her made weapons. ill agree on the lake scene. but i really dislike the take of 'cassian is borderline abusive to nesta because he snaps at her for saying intentionally nasty things' . when she says those things to be cruel, knowing that theyll get under his skin.
im not saying that nesta is always at fault because she definitely is not. but again its this weird thing where nesta is always the victim to some
I did lie a little bit in my last post, yes I am team female characters but Cassian and Lucien are honorary members of that team. Okay and Helion. But that’s it.
I think the intention is a big reason why people do or don’t like Nesta. Yes Nesta had trauma and mental health issues but there are a lot of times when she is very intentionally saying things that hurt people. She’s not just rude, she’s cruel. And this isn’t just acotar, this continues through acosf. Like you said, she’s not just pushing buttons, Nesta is like gleefully doing an emotional keysmash. Okay maybe not gleefully because we do see that she’s conscious of what she’s doing and doesn’t necessarily want to react that way.
I’m gonna be completely frank here - I would intensely dislike Nesta if I were to meet her irl because I don’t ever see a need for cruelty. She’d say something to push me away and I’d be like “ok bye then!” I know this will make people side eye me, maybe more than my post blasting the fandom earlier today, but it’s just how I feel!
I don’t really have a point here in responding to you 😅 I guess I try to understand everyone’s opinion of the characters. And it’s been a while since I read acosf, like I said in my last post, so I should reread before getting more into thoughts on nessian in that book.
A few more thoughts, there is a reason it took me three weeks to reply to that ask - when I first read it I really violently disagreed but I wanted to be fair to the anon so I waited. @symphonyofbleedingshadows can verify this 😂 I also don’t think that, much like the Archeron sisters, there needs to be a contest between the characters? Like who is more right than whom? Their relationship is complicated, honestly it’s probably more complicated than feysand’s is. I see a lot of conflict in their future and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it just is. As someone who has been in a long (long) term relationship, if fights were always about winning then the relationship would have gone nowhere fast.

Tumblr Friends
Chapter 6 ~ New Names
The next few weeks were hectic. I had two projects, three assignments and a test. My days were spent working on them or studying for them or drawing for Tumblr between breaks. Also, hanging out once a week at home with my sisters and their respective boyfriends. Only once we went out with them, and only to go to McDonald’s and pick up our food.
Stormblessed-radiant answered me the next day and everything had gone fairly smoothly between us since then. Actually, he was one of the main reasons I was still alive with all the overload in my life lately. And it seemed, I was his reason too.
When I was alone at home and doing homework, I always kept a Chrome tab with Tumblr on it, just in case I needed cheering up or he did. It was almost like a constant presence, always there if I needed, like reassurance. We usually didn’t really talk in those moments because we both had things to do, but when study time finished, and we were both alone, we weren’t able to stop. One would think we’d run out of topics, but every day new things came up. And I started falling hard for him.
You are in such deep, unending shit, Feyre.
We just had so much in common: we loved books more than people usually did, we had hard stuff happening to us but were pushing through (his mom and dad died, just like ours, and all he had left was his brothers, like I had my sisters), we were the same age...
Another real important thing was that his brothers were older and working and both had girlfriends, so they didn’t spend much time at home (like my sisters), which was fundamental in order for us to have endless conversation.
Another highpoint of my month was seeing my sisters so happy. It had taken a while to reconcile ourselves with what had happened.
You see, my mom and dad weren’t the greatest parents in the world, they had issues, but they were there, which was what counted. The thing is, my dad had had some trauma when he was in the military and he took on drinking as a solution. He didn’t treat my mom like she deserved (or us, for that matter) but he never hit, so we hid our problems as much as we could. But one day, when my mom was on her office’s Christmas party, he went to pick her up and he had had a little too much to drink and on the way back they swerved out of the road and hit a tree, which instantly killed them.
We were devastated. My sisters and I felt so many things at once that we almost collapsed. Each one of us felt guilty for not seeing he was drunk, each felt glad our dad was not there to mentally beat us up anymore, felt sad because of our loss... The feelings were so contradictory and over the place that we hid ourselves in our rooms, at school, trying to not think about all the mess we were at the moment. My sister Nesta was on her last year of college, so when she finished she started working and supporting us. Elain also took a shift at some local flower store and I babysat kids.
That is until my school psychologist saw me crying my eyes out on lunchbreak, two months after everything had happened.
She talked to Nesta, who was my legal guardian, and suggested the three of us went to therapy together, which worked surprisingly well. We all discovered that our feelings were the same, and most of all, normal.
That had prompted my sister Elain to study psychology, which she loves.
And just like that, our bond grew stronger.
On Monday evening, in one of my usual convos with SR (stormblessed-radiant, I was just tired of not knowing what to call him, so I made that up) the meeting topic came up again, and this time I was ready.
C’mon Feyre Archeron, you can do this. You’ve been talking to him for a month and a half and know him better than you ever knew Tamlin. He’s NOT Tamlin, and he could NEVER be like him.
I cracked my knuckles, pushed my glasses up and started typing an answer.
fey-oathbringer: Okay, so I about that. I’ve finished my crazy month, so we can really meet, like IRL meet. If you want. Any suggestions to where?
stormblessed-radiant: Oh yeah, I want to meet alright, darling. And do you know Velaris Cafe? In Night Court Street 5? Is that far from your house?
fey-oathbringer: OMG, yes!!!! I love that little cafe <3 And it’s walking distance from home (which is good, cause I don’t have a car) so afterwards I won’t have to take a cab. Is Friday okay for you? Say, kinda like a lunch date? It’ll have to be after 14:30, bc I have classes...
stormblessed-radiant: Are you asking me out on a date *wink, wink*?? And yeah, 15:00 for me, bc I’ve got classes too.
fey-oathbringer: I said “kinda like a lunch date”, ‘kinda’ being the key word there. Oh, and it’s on my calendar, so no chickening out now
stormblessed-radiant: I think ‘date’ is actually the key word ;) And I’m not a chicken-out kinda guy, darling.
Just like that, the date was set. And I couldn’t wait.
Closing up my laptop, I went downstairs. I heard voices, deep male voices.
Surprise, surprise. The boyfriends are here.
Not really a surprise though. I can’t tell if you can tell it was sarcasm.
As always, I popped my head into the living room to say hi.
“Hey guys! Nes, I’m going to take my dinner upstairs, is that alright? I don’t really want to interrupt you...”
“What? You’re not interrupting Fey, never think that.” said Elain. “And actually, we wanted to talk to you.”
“The four of you?” I inquired, raising my eyebrow and slowly and cautiously stepping into the room…
Nesta intervened.
“Yeah, we know you’ve finished your projects and assignments, so we wanted to propose to you that, maybe, if you want, this Friday you can meet Cass and Az’s little brother?”
At that, I panicked a little bit and started wiping my hands on my jeans, pushing my glasses up and twirling a piece of my hair. Of course, she noticed it.
“Fey, it’s okay, you can say no. No one is going to get mad at you. Come here.”
I dragged myself to the couch and fell into her arms, right beside her, in the spot Cassian had made for me.
“It’s not that. I want to meet him. But... I just...” I sighed.
“You’re shy and scared?” contributed Cassian.
“Yeah. And he’s your brother and I don’t wanna mess everything you guys have up, just because I’m a little bit dysfunctional.”
“Hey, no! You’re NOT dysfunctional and we love you just the way you are, like Bruno Mars” objected Elain.
At last, Azriel quietly spoke:
“Besides, he’s going to love you, just like we do, and if he doesn’t we’ll kick his ass until he does.”
I stared at all of them, and wondered how I had gotten so lucky, because every single one was looking at me with nothing but love in their eyes. I casted my eyes down.
Then, looking up from my lap, I cleared my throat.
“Okay, but it has to be for dinner. I actually have something to do at lunch.”
“Yeah, he can’t do lunch either and neither can we, so dinner?” suggested Cassian.
“Sure. Oh, and what’s his name?”
Let me tell you something, I never got it.
They started teasing, tickling me, throwing me to the ground, having a pillow fight... And it resolved on his brother having to tell me on Friday.
So, I guess I’ll just learn some new names on Friday.
When my alarm went off it dawned on me: Friday was her. My heart started beating as if it wanted to get out of my ribcage.
Shit, Feyre, relax. You still have classes before you even see them.
Yeah, that’s right. Me, an antisocial person, meeting not one, but two new people on the same day.
I turned off the alarm and got ready for the day, throwing on my jeans, a flowy blouse and some red chucks. After that, I went to the bathroom and for the first time in months, I took out my contact lenses and put them on, grabbing my mascara on the way out and stuffing it in my backpack.
As I went downstairs I realized that I hadn’t done my hair, but also hadn’t had breakfast, and didn’t have enough time for both.
Crap! Whatever, I’ll braid my hair in class.
Going into the kitchen, I smelled bacon and eggs, which made me suspicious immediately. Guys, we never, and I mean it, never cook breakfast. None of us. We pour ourselves coffee or chocolate milk and skedaddle out the door with a few cookies on our hands.
I spotted a plate and a glass where the delicious scent was coming from, and next to it a note that read:
“Power up little sis, big day ahead. Please don’t bail and get back from your ~mysterious~ date on time to meet your future brother in law. We love you. E+N”
As I said, suspicious. But, who can say no to bacon and eggs? So I ate them and scribbled a not on the back of theirs before running out the door.
“I love you too, weirdos. Be back by 6 pm <3″
Of course, my teacher would pull me apart on the last minute of class. And of course, that made me miss the bus, which led to me being late to the little cafe.
15:09 Feyre, not that late.
I looked through the window and everyone seemed to be minding their own business, except for one guy. He had midnight black hair, short but not too short.
Enough to grab the back of it when kissing.
Okay, that was weird. Anyway. His eyes were trained on the door, but he kept checking his watch, which reminded me that I was late, so I quickly stepped through the door and headed for his table. Right as I entered I looked at him, and a smile brushed his mouth.
OMG Feyre, look at those lips! And those eyes!
Seriously though, his eyes were from another universe, a blue so unique that appeared almost purple.
I took a very deep breath and flung my hand out in greeting.
“Hi! Are you...?”
“SR, nice meeting you darling” he said, laughter filling his eyes.
“I’m NOT your darling.”
Great, go for the knife already... C’mon, deep breath Feyre.
“And I- ah... I’m Feyre. It’s nice to meet you, too”
“Oh, yeah! I forgot. My name is Rhysand, but please call me Rhys, all my friends do.”
“And I suppose you have many of those?” I inquired.
Ups.
If it bothered him, he didn’t show it, but instead started laughing.
“You, darling, have a bite. Thank God I already knew, or I would have been forced to leave you.” he got out, eyes shining with mischief. “So Feyre, darling, you hungry?”
Oh, he knows how to get to me. Food is always welcomed.
“Starving”.
And so it began.
We ordered two burgers with fries and while we ate, we talked. Endlessly. At first it was a little weird, but then... I was surprised that he really seemed to be the same as on Tumblr, except for that wicked gleam in his eyes every time I snapped a retort at him. Those I hadn’t seen before, but I was in love with them.
Even after we finished our food, we kept going on. We discussed every topic possible, yet still more came up. Conversation flowed easily, with no effort. It went from books, to movies, back to books, then families, photography, art...
When the clock of the little shop marked 17:30, I told him I had to go. Good thing I did it earlier than necessary, because we ended up talking on the street for another twenty minutes.
Then I really needed to leave, or my sisters would have my head. He offered me a ride home, but I declined, because I needed to air my head anyway and it was only like 5 minutes away. We agreed on meeting again, exchanged phone numbers and hugged goodbye.
Disappointment Feyre, you should’ve gone all in for the kiss.
Yeah, right. As if I could’ve done it all in one day.
But it wasn’t ALL in one day, you’ve been talking for more than a month.
With that inner monologue going on in my head, I arrived home just in time to fulfill my sisters thirst for my blood.
“I’m hooome!” I screamed as I got in.
Not two seconds later, Nesta and Elain appeared on the stairs, running down.
“Fey!”
“How was it? “
“Did you kiss?”
“Wait, no. Was he pretty?”
“Oh my God, let me breathe.” I fumbled. “It was nice, we didn’t and yes, he is pretty.”
“Ohhhhh Feyre’s got a new boyfriend!” sang Elain.
“I do not!” I hissed.
“You sooooo do. When can we meet him?” Nesta objected.
“Tell us about him” pleaded Elain.
“Okay, okay. Jeez... He is tall, black hair, very blue eyes and he’s really good. Like, a really really good person. Also, he’s kinda ripped too. And handsome... Okay, I’m SO deep into him.” I breathed out.
“We know” they said in unison.
“What do I do? I don’t wanna mess this up?”
“You won’t Fey, we won’t let you” promised Nesta.
I snorted. Hard.
“Well that’s a relief.”
And the three of us bursted out laughing.
After the little heart to heart with my sisters I went upstairs, took my contacts off because they were killing me, wiped my make up off and changed my blouse for a Ravenclaw t-shirt.
What? I like Ravenclaw, okay? Also, I’m a nerd and I’m entitled to have everything I want if it belongs to my house yeah?
I put my glasses on, and looked in the mirror, deciding to put my hair in a messy bun.
I don’t want their brother to like me too much or else I’d have to let him down.
Because Rhysand felt like he was in my life to stay, and I wouldn’t compromise that for anything in the world. Not even my sisters’ boyfriends’ brother.
Wow, that’s complicated.
A bell rang, breaking me from my thoughts, and I raced downstairs to open the door just in time as Nesta was screaming for me to do it. Repeatedly.
“Omg, Nesta, chill. I’m coming! No need to bite my head off.” I yelled back at her.
I could hear laughing on the other side of the door, so I grabbed the door knob and opened it, seeing Azriel and Cassian immediately. Behind them I could see a figure, but they were covering him, so I sighed and hugged them first. I looked down to my feet.
“Oh, get it over with.” I mumbled
“Okay, Fey” said Cassian, pulling the person behind him to the front and continuing. “This is Rhysand, our little brother. But you can call him Rhys.”
At that, my head snapped up right on time to see stormblessed-radiant, Rhys, open his eyes in shock, and step a little bit forward, mouth agape.
And then I fainted.
Okay, so I’m not sorry for the cliffhanger. But guys, they met!!!!! And this is a long chapter, so BONUS.
As always, than you everyone for reading and leave me any comments if you want.
I’m tagging @songbirdsbooks @kaliejane26 @personpersonper @turtlesnook @highladyfxyre @the-bookish-soul @court-0f-dreamers and also @queen-archeron who’s on reading only mode. Also, are the tags working?

i’m a feyre stan first and foremost so out of loyalty sometimes her hardcore stans make me feel like i have to hate nesta and elain or i’m an abuse apologist but then i think about it for a moment and
obviously i understand that sjm always has the main fmc have a tragic backstory but in this case it’s just so utterly ridiculous that 2 girls that are like maximum 3 years older than feyre sat on their asses and stared at a wall for 5 years and it honestly makes me hate them less. i feel like i can’t even be mad at them for not hunting because it’s so cardboard cut out evil older sister villainy that it’s honestly just funny like sjm didn’t even care to give them realistic reasons for not hunting because all that matters is they can’t hunt because it’s feyre tragic backstory
and it doesn’t even really fit in with their characters. elains a literal gardener and they live near a forest? i’m sure sjm couldve had her plant some vegetables. it doesn’t make sense that elain didn’t plant vegetables. i know sjm threw in that lame ‘but the soil wasn’t good’ excuse but come on 😭😭 and how is nesta so selfish to not hunt when like the second time we see her in acomaf she’s championing human lives to be saved?? obviously poverty and trauma does things to people but nesta doesn’t even find herself a husband to take care of her and elain when it’s literally what she was taught and raised to do
love sjm but i wish she fleshed out the beginning of acotar wayyy more.
Here's an alternative I was just chatting with some people about -
acotar should have been a trilogy and all this spin-off stuff shouldn't have happened without the foundation to support it.
Which, because Elain and Nesta were such fairy tale tropes in acotar, we didn't have a good foundation for them. Now, everyone is arguing about how big a bitch Nesta really is and how useless Elain really is, and a lot of it is based on content that was not supposed to go beyond explaining "here is what Feyre was dealing with before she went over the Wall". Nesta and Elain were written as if they would barely make cameo appearances in the rest of Feyre's life, but surprise! Now they are/going to be main characters.
I wonder if it would have been more believable if sjm had embraced the way she wrote Nesta and Elain, rather than trying to make excuses for them. idk. Gardening is hard (just ask my fig plant which just lost all its leaves, and I have time, knowledge, and resources to care for it!) but if Elain's whole personality is Good at Plants, why couldn't she have done better? Nesta was ready to marry the one dude, but she was also like 23 in acotar which is Old Lady status in fairy tale worlds, so why hadn't she done that years before? And obviously Papa Archeron was there. They just... they were such stereotypes, and now we have to try to understand them as fully developed characters based on those two-dimensional tropes.
It's no wonder we disagree with one another, but if we could just not be so mean about it, jfc. It's based on sjm being half-assed! Not any of us being bad readers! Be mad at her!
Don't let the fandom make you feel like you need to think or feel anything in particular, though! It's perfectly possible for us to like all three sisters. I know I wouldn't get along with them all equally irl, but I appreciate their characters.

Elain Archeron is not sweet or kind (spoilers)
i keep seeing ppl on tiktok, tumblr and instagram talk about how elain doesn't deserve all the hate she gets because she’s so kind and just gardens and radiates sunshine
PLEASE-- the way some of these elain stans go ranting on and on about how sweet and precious elain is makes me fucking gag. like please what does elain do that's actually kind?? because i keep hearing ppl say this, both IRL and the characters in the book, but there is literally no proof of it.
here let's list some reasons when elain was not so kind as her stans seem to say:
1. sat by while Nesta constantly abused feyre both emotionally and verbally and instead of apologizing to feyre on Nesta's behalf or something what does she do? she goes after Nesta repeatedly to console her as if Nesta was the one who was just abused
2. literally made no fucking effort to help feyre AT ALL with hunting or preparing food, or even trying to make some fucking money to lessen the burden on feyre. the book says it just never “occurred to elain that she could help”--if elain was a nice person, then she would have noticed feyre doing all the work and offered to help. also, that quote just goes to show elain is an idiot too, sorry not sorry.
3. do yall remember in acotar when feyre went back to her family after Tamlin sent her away, and after realizing she was made a wealthy woman, yall know the first thing she did? she took some of that money and gave it to those still suffering from her neighborhood. because feyre, now rich and fed and warm, remembered those individuals and did not forget them. while miss flowers was up in her mansion dancing and spending money -that she didn't earn- and forgot about all those less fortunate.
4. elain whenever she could, whenever she had spare money, would waste it on flowers. flowers. instead of vegetables. which could have helped her starving family. remind me again why elain is the sweet, kind one??
5. elain went through hell, she literally lost herself due to the cauldron, her human life being ripped away from her, and losing her fiance Grayson. and who was beside her during all that time? making sure she tried to eat, to sleep, to see if she would want to talk. who was the one constantly worrying about her and couldn't even sleep out of fear that elain would contemplate suicide? the woman who for god knows what reasons had made it her sole mission to protect this useless excuse of a woman? it was Nesta. and where was elain when Nesta was going through her own shit? oh that's right, she was buddying up to her other sister who has money, she was gardening, she was living a happy life that she got thanks to Nesta and feyre. and all along she was ignoring depressed, traumatized Nesta. I don't fucking care that Nesta was rude to elain and it hurt poor sweet elain, that woman sacrificed so much for elain just to be treated like dirt in the end? elain should have taken Nesta's rude comments and should have kept going back to help Nesta, out of everyone, elain should have understood Nesta's hurtful words and realize her sister was in pain.
here’s a list of some moments when elain was actually kind:
1. bought feyre paints.
2. baked feyre a birthday cake.
3. gave solstice gifts to Nuala, Cerridwen, and Azriel. but honestly, she wasn't the only one who gave gifts to ppl so this really doesn't count.
that's it.
in conclusion, elain isn't kind or sweet, she's actually a snake, the cauldron made a mistake, sjm should have written elain to actually be kind if she was going to constantly mention how sweet elain is, and the real sweet, kind, and generous sister is Feyre.
