I visited Klosterlund museum in Denmark. It is next to a lake where many archeological finds were made. I really wanted to visit it since the Hammerenup girl is there. An iron age grave with the most complete dress. It's a beautiful red dress with white stripes. Only her clothes and her hair did survive. The best thing was that it was free to visit the museum. I did get the archeological report of the Hammerenup girl at the little museum store.

Archaeologists Find a Beautiful 3,000-Year-Old Octagonal Sword in Germany
A rare Bronze Age sword unearthed from a burial site in Germany is in such good condition that it still glimmers.
According to a statement the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection released on Wednesday, the weapon was discovered in the town of Nördlingen in Bavaria, and may date to the 14th century B.C.
"Last week, archaeologists made a very special find during excavations in Nördlingen: a bronze sword that is over 3,000 years old and is so extraordinarily well preserved that it almost still shines. It is a representative of the bronze full-hilt swords, whose octagonal hilt is made entirely of bronze (octagonal sword type)," a translation of the statement reads.
Its octagonal shape make it a rare find, as only the most skilled blacksmiths were capable of making these types of swords—known as Achtkantschwert in German—that required precise casting and decoration.
"The production of octagonal swords is complex because the handle is cast over the blade (so-called overlay casting). The decoration is made with an inlay and using hallmarks. While there are two real rivets, another pair of rivets are only implied," the statement said.
These rare and specialized swords were only made in two locations in Germany at the time, one in the north, one in the south, although the exact location of this sword's origin could not be confirmed.
This find is especially unusual considering that most burial mounds in the area of Germany where the sword was discovered have been opened and looted in the past.
"Sword finds from this period are rare and come either from burial mounds that were deliberately opened in the 19th century or as single, presumed sacrificial finds," the statement said.
It is unclear if this octagonal sword was ever used in combat, or if it was a ceremonial blade.
However, archaeologists noted that while the blade had no signs of wear in battle, its center of gravity made it suitable for use as a real weapon, and it was capable of being used to slash opponents.
The grave in which the sword was found contained the remains of a man, a woman and a child.
"It is not yet clear whether the persons were related or what the relationship between them was," the statement explained.
Despite these questions, the sword marks an exciting find for the archaeologists and for Germany.
"The sword and the burial still have to be examined further so that our archaeologists can classify this find more precisely. But it can already be said that its condition is exceptional. A find like this is very rare," Mathias Pfeil, head of the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, said in the statement.

AAAAAAA I JUST FOUND UR NECROMANCER!HYRULE AU AND IM LOVING IT??????? so obviously hyrule wouldn’t be able to bring back the boys who are in different timelines, but Sky, Time, and Four all come *before* the timeline split, would it be possible for rulie to also “bring them back” ??
anyways i LOVE dark au’s like thisss it’s so good!!!
It's possible to bring them back if Hyrule can find their remains! Where were they buried? and revival depends on the condition of the remains, are all the bones here? can he gather all of em without further damaging the already brittle bones? Necroma- I mean archeology sure is hard!
#hyrule (the location) is a vast and old place#it'd take a while to find where his brothers' remains are#and historical records are sparse after the end of the downfall timeline's golden age#good luck Rulie!#if anyone asks Hyrule's go to excuse is “I'm doing archeology” lol#and thank you for liking the au!#linked universe#necromancer hyrule#lu legend#lu hyrule#my art

maaaan i'm not even heated about it because i should've known better but i wish i could post about the bible as a cultural and literary document without weirdos flocking to my blog 😔 i've always loved the storytelling of the bible (even though i left the church!) and there's so much to unpack when you view it as a piece of literature instead of a piece of scripture! but alas........oh well theres other books
#the literature class i took about the bible was my favorite course i've ever taken!#especially when u supplement the narratives with modern archeological/anthropological findings#but that is on me for expecting christians to see someone go “btw i am engaging w the bible strictly as a piece of literature”#and decide “unacceptable. time to proselytize.” that's kinda their main beat huh#religion

- Welcome Japanese archaeologists, this time we move to the Japanese protohistory and to be more precise to the Kofun period(こふんじだい) 250 to 592 AD at the end of the 6th century to be more exact, that said make yourselves comfortable and let's start. - A group of tombs with underground tunnels dating back to the first half of the Middle Kofun Miyakonojo Aihara, located in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, have been discovered. Many of them have the burial chambers where corpses are enshrined, but one of the 22 that were found had an unusual shape, with a stone blocking the middle of the horizontal hole. - The walls are painted with red dye and another with two pits leading to the same burial chamber. Underground tombs with a horizontal entrance, which were discovered in the city of Ebino around the 4th century as it was previously believed, but it is now possible that many of them were being built at the same time. - The second survey, which was carried out in May last year 2022, had excavated approximately 4,200 square metres. Some grave goods such as iron swords and arrowheads were also found in the burial chamber and in the pits. The soil will be backfilled from January next year and a report will be completed by the end of fiscal year 2023.

Discovered in a mine in Alberta, Canada in 2011, a fossil of a nodosaur dinosaur is one of the most well-preserved fossils of its kind, down to its skin, scales and even the contents of its stomach. These heavily-armored herbivores walked the Earth between the Late Jurassic and Late Cretaceous periods, with this particular specimen dating back 110 million years.
Considered one of the major archeological finds from the last decade, the nodosaur is currently on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, Canada

Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam
The museum is located in the centre of Amsterdam and kinda far from the other museums in the cities. It displays a collection of archaeological finds from the stone Age until the early middle ages. There is now a gorgeous exhibition about mummy portraits called face to face. I loved the atmosphere in the building and it was wonderful to just walk around and see new things the second time I walked past it. There is also a cast gallery with famous statues.
I recommend to visit this museum if you want something different to do when you are in Amsterdam. It's near de Dam.

Was stalking Minecraft’s twitter account to gather like idk personality references for the crew and I learned two things
One;
Sunny is mojangs specialest boy
Two;
So Efe Sunny and Noor are introduced before the rest of the crew and in different ways
Efe and Sunny are already together when they run into Alex and Steve underground and they chaise a chicken into the deep dark
Noor is on his own and Vibing when Steve and Alex happen upon him and they seem kinda confused about him, anyways he finds a lush cave and his love of frog is a defining character trait
Later on all of them gather together and Sunny Efe and Noor tell everyone a recap of the two shorts which makes me think that they didn’t know each other before
So Alex and Steve are a thing (if they’re a Thing is beyond me I just know they share a base), Sunny and Efe know each other, Noor is just there… there’s still four people who just kinda popped into existence in the default skin reveal trailer
Maybe they’re friends with Sunny and or Efe since Efe and Makena seems to be buddies but yeah anyways that’s my sleep deprived rambling about the wild update trailers and how they characterise Efe Noor and Sunny
#minecraft#minecraft default skins#also side note but ari is so fucking into archeology she’s like the poster boy of digging shit up#maybe I should make a separate post about my findings

3,600-Year-Old Jewelry and Weapon Hoard Found Under Field in Czech Republic
Archaeologists used metal detectors to find the hoard, which includes several pieces of jewelry and weapons.
Archaeologists discovered a hoard of Bronze Age artifacts while doing routine survey work in a field in the Czech Republic.
The bronze objects — which include eight arm rings, two pins, eight axes and one spearhead — were found near Budyně nad Ohří, a town about 35 miles (56 kilometers) northwest of Prague, Radio Prague International reported.
Researchers estimate that most of the items, which they found using metal detectors, date to around 1600 B.C.
"Most items are characteristic of the Middle Bronze Age, with only one ax belonging to the earlier period," Martin Trefný, an associate professor at the Museum of the Říp Region and the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně and the curator of the hoard, said in an email. One ax is even older and dates to the Early Bronze Age.
"Axes could have been used as tools or weapons. The latter function also applies to the spearhead," Trefný said. "Bracelets were forearm ornaments, and pins served either to fasten clothing or, for example, to style women's hair."
Archaeologists remain unclear about why the hoard was buried, but they have proposed three possibilities.
"In the first case, the hoards are presumed to have a votive function, meaning they served as offerings to deities," Trefný said. "In the second case, we speak of an economic function, where hoards are interpreted as, for example, storage for manufacturers of the given items."
Alternatively, the buried items could reflect "a crisis situation, where it was necessary to hide the items, for example, from enemies," he said.
The treasure could be worth "millions of crowns," Trefný told Radio Prague International. (One million Czech crowns, or koruna, is about $42,500.)
"All the items testify to the technological advancement of bronze casters and processors in Central Europe 3,500 years ago," Trefný told Live Science. "The composition of the hoard also contributes to understanding the warfare, craft techniques and contemporary fashion of the time. Considering that hoards might have a ritual significance, they can also reveal a bit about the contemporary religion."
In the "near future," these found items will be on display at the Podřipské Museum, located about 30 miles (50 km) north of Prague, Radio Prague International reported.

Fun Archeology Fact #1: Dennis
The Denisovans, an extinct hominin that was present around Asia during the lower/middle Paleolithic is named like that because the cave they were found in was the same cave a 18th century hermit lived in. His name was Dionisij, or, the translated version (which ended up feeding into the name,) Dennis.
