I still can't get the unused concept art of Wish out of my head so I've been reading a lot of rewrites and looking at a lot of Wish redesigns...
So... I got inspired. I'm currently conceptualizing my own Wish "rewrite/redesigns", but with a twist. It's gonna be a spiritual "prequel", cuz idk I feel like being meta since we'll be using the original concepts before the final concepts/decisions made for the final movie XD
Many of my "prequel" characters will be stand-ins for the canon characters! So "Asha" will be renamed "Amala", "Magnifico" will be called "Mamoun", and so on. Think of Pokemon Legends: Arceus regarding the relations of these "OCs" with the canon characters.
Anyway, here are the designs I have so far! I only have the designs for Amala and the Star for now. Hopefully, I can get to draw the other characters soon, especially Mamoun and his wife.
Tumblr media
The story will be called "Once Upon a Wish"
Here's an overview of what I have so far... Some details may change if I feel like my other choices serve the story better. (Also, small disclaimer, this is just a veryyy self-indulgent AU made by yours truly, so some details may not be accurate with the canon lore present in Wish)
The story takes place on the same island of Rosas, but from many years ago. If my research is right, canon Wish takes place in the 1200s, so maybe my "prequel" can take place in around the 900s-1000s. Rosas definitely wasn't called Rosas back then, but I'm still figuring out what to call it so I'm just gonna refer to it as "an island".
Amala is a shy, meek, but hardworking apprentice of the island's head sorcerer Mamoun (hence, her color palette looks similar to Mickey's outfit from The Sorcerer's Apprentice). Despite all her hard work in her magic studies, she doesn't really excel at using magic, making a lot of accidents during training. If there's anything she really excels at, it's the act of storytelling (She can draw/animate, sing, and write stories like fairy tales).
Amala also has a little sister Ayah, who I can imagine is the Lilo/Anna to Amala's Nani/Elsa. Ayah is spunky and cheerful, but she has an illness that makes her disabled. The sisters are orphans, but they live under an old family friend they affectionately call Grandpa Dabir. Dabir is a retired bard turned doctor who was part of a troupe with 6 other former bards, all of whom he and the sisters still interact.
That's all I can share for now. Feel free to ask me any questions about stuff about this AU!

Just putting some world building stuff I've come up with for the Legends Arceus AU. Rei edition.
Rei's family has worked under Kamado's for at least two generations via a hoko contract. His parents were farmers, so they were tenant farmers back in Johto. They went with him to Hisui as part of the Agricultural Corps, but passed away due to a cholera outbreak that occurred when the initial settlement was being built.
As a result Rei inherited their debt and Kamado now owns his contract. He was a tween when they passed, about 11 or 12, so he just did odd jobs that were expected of all of the kids for a few years. He picked up some Galarian because of foreign merchants and investors visiting Kamado's family back in Johto, and as a child he's easy to spare so eventually he took on the role as an interpreter for the Team when they had visitors (re:investors) staying.
That's how Professor Laventon was introduced to him. Galarian Professor with a rudimentary understanding of the language? Rei's not that busy unlike the workers of the Supply Corps. Laventon would show him what he was doing since Rei was so curious, and eventually had Rei helping him out with small stuff evolved into Rei really wanting to be his apprentice.
So Rei works and studies under Laventon because it's technically free. Laventon won't charge for Rei to study under him, and Rei already got room and board considering his contract so Kamado makes out because now he's having a Galarian professor train one of his people? And he's already being paid to have said Galarian Professor here? It's a win/win station. Rei technically doesn't get paid an income because his salary is so low and all of it goes to paying back his parents loan, and Survey Corps work is dangerous (and scary) but he really does love what he's doing and got pretty attached to Laventon.
Post PLA when the Pokédex it published and Laventon is winning awards and getting actual money he pays off Rei's family loan in full and Rei studies at a Galarian university, then moves back to Hisui (now Sinnoh) as a Professor. His apprentice is Kamado's granddaughter. (How the Kamado to Professor Rowan pipeline got started)

question about the mortality exchange au: what would exactly happen if the future trio/kip found twig the way she looked like after she 'disappeared' for 50+ years? i can imagine grovyle, celebi and kip just crying ugly and just holding onto her whereas dusknoir would steel his nerves for a moment to try and hold himself when he sees her after all these years. how do you think that scenario would play out?
I’d adjust the timeline a bit so that it’d be about 30-ish years down the line. I could see Kip accidentally encountering Twig during an archaeological expedition with a junior team he was supervising. It wouldn’t be something he does very often, but he’d help certain teams of archaeologist’s guild apprentices despite being retired due to an injury he received. Twig wouldn’t be able to turn him away no matter how much she wants to, and Kip wouldn’t be leaving those ruins without her. He wouldn’t notice anything suspicious about Twig’s appearance at first, and even once he caught on, he wouldn’t care because oH MY WORD TWIG’S ALIVE. SHE’S OKAY. HE MISSED HER SO MUCH, THANK ARCEUS SHE’S ALRIGHT, GET OVER HERE AND HUG HIM—
Thanks to some finagling with the apprentices, he’d be able to get them to run back to town and send a message to the Future Trio— or at least Celebi and Dusknoir, who’d take a few days to make it there thanks to the distance between the ruins and their home in Fair Fields, and they might have disregarded a few travel regulations to get there sooner. Celebi is zipping circles around Twig's head crying angry tears and chastising her for making them worry so much before she gets too choked up to speak and just hugs her and bawls. Dusknoir, meanwhile, would hang back at the fringes of the room, staring at Twig in shock, and she'd be the one to hug him when she finally became too overwhelmed by how relieved she is to see them despite her guilt and desire to stay hidden. He'd hold her as she ugly cries and he would have a hard time keeping up a strong front for her.
Once Celebi manages to locate Grovyle (who's on the opposite side of the globe at this point— when everyone else gave up on looking for Twig when their efforts to find her came up empty, Grovyle widened the search radius more and more. He hasn't seen the gang in years because he's been looking for Twig for so long) after teleporting all over the world and back, she'd tell him they found her, and he'd come this (👌) close to busting through the center of the earth in order to get to Twig faster.
Grovyle doesn't cry when they reunite, but he does shout at Twig for thinking he'd ever not want her around. He'd tear her a new one over the fact that he loves her and he doesn't care what she is because— human, charmander, or Legend— she still is and always has been Twig. Twig would murmur something about how she still is and always has been unworthy of anything and Grovyle just goes HUH??? WHAT'D YOU SAY??? YOU WANNA SAY THAT AGAIN??? BOLD WORDS FOR SOMEONE WITHIN HUGGING DISTANCE. IDIOT.
Celebi finds Cresselia, who had not spoken a word of Twig's location to anyone (she didn't know they didn't know where she was), slaps her, rips some lunar feathers off her shoulder, and returns to where everyone is still crying all over each other to dump the handful of feathers on Twig and say "There. You don't have the excuse of giving people nightmares anymore. Now come home."
Twig's going to be welcomed back to Treasure Town even if she has to be hogtied and dragged all the way there.

I'm gonna be so mad if Drayton is both Iris and Drayden's kid for a few reasons, mainly that Iris is mainly seen as and interpreted as a child for various reasons, but also just because going from non-canon to canon romantic pairings is very weird for the Pokemon universe. But I mean, it's obvious Drayton is based on both of them...
Tumblr media
His similarities include but are not limited to:
A hair style that combines aspects of both Iris and Drayden's
Hair that combines both purple (Iris) and white (Drayden)
Eyes that fall between Iris and Drayden's eye color
A skintone that falls between Iris and Drayden's skintone
A pose that falls between Iris and Drayden's pose
An expression that falls between Iris and Drayden's expression
Having an open skirt the way Iris has an open dress
The name Drayton being a clear reference to Drayden and the fact Drayton's name is based on "Iris" in other languages
Like, I think it'd be cool if he was somehow related to both of them via a descendant of Iris and a descendant of Drayden's getting together? But also like, how would that work chronologically, because we can assume the amount of time that has passed since B&W is how much time has passed since its release in the real world.
Is Scarlet and Violet an AU to B&W? (Not likely due to Legends Arceus references in SV.) Who's to say? I really want to know, and I just really, really hope that he's not their kid, considering Iris was Drayden's apprentice, and like, 99% of people see Iris as a child, and I've never even considered that she could be an adult. Maybe Drayden isn't that old and he just has white hair like how Drayton has white hair?

Okay, but the Pokemon au is hilarious XD- Imagine what sort of shenanigans everyone's favorite blue king would ensue if he gets transported to the past PLA style (minus the losing your memories thing with Ingo, because that's a big sad) Not just that but he meets beni, y'know, the potato mochi guy who's also apparently a ninja assassin... Just the comedy it'll bring. Beni is sus of Munakata, not just because he's an outsider, but also it's Munakata, he's just really suspicious of him, and he knows that this man is not normal. Same goes for Muna, he knows something's up with beni. Munakata knows that beni isn't just your humble potato mochi chef. And so, we cut to a bunch of hilarious scenarios featuring the old man ninja, and the blue king until the reveal that beni is kamado's right hand man. I feel like Munakata would be thrilled that he's meeting an actual ninja, and maybe he somehow ropes beni into some classic blue king tomfoolery. Beni might even become a victim of Munakata's (in)famous sneaking up on people out of nowhere then invading your personal space as if it's a normal human thing to do
Can you imagine how thrilled Munakata would be to finally meet a real ninja, he would be so much less interested in catching pokemon or meeting god or whatever he just wants to talk to the actual ninja man. Like imagine Pokemon Legends Arceus AU where Munakata gets pulled through a wormhole or whatever it is and lands in the past, naturally he's concerned about his team back in his real time period but he's also very intrigued by this world of the past. He's more than willing to join Team Galaxy and research pokemon (wait imagine this being like the similar AU ask I had a while back where Fushimi went into the past, where he's introduced to Team Galaxy's Captain Suoh. Imagine Munakata's face when he sees that 'Suoh' is a serious glasses-wearing person and not a barbarian at all, Munakata probably wonders where the gene pool went wrong). After his first successful mission he's treated to some potato mochi at the restaurant and Munakata is immediately suspicious of this potato man. Like Munakata's aware that he himself is an outsider and that others would have reason to be wary of him but there's something about this man's suspicion that feels more keen than the others he's met.
Munakata decides that he must solve the mystery of why he's so drawn to this simple chef, like imagine him deciding he will become Beni's apprentice and discover his secrets. Beni is not so pleased with that, like he doesn't trust Munakata and he feels like Munakata may be on to his secret identity. Imagine Beni using all these subtle ninja moves to make his potato mochi normally and he has to hide them from Munakata, Munakata keeps almost catching him and like trying to manipulate the situation so he can get Beni to slip up and reveal his secrets. Munakata thankfully does not allow this to completely distract him from training his pokemon of course, in fact he probably uses them as part of his secret undercover 'figure out this man's secrets' mission that he has going on (Beni is getting tired of being ambushed by Munakata's pokemon, especially since Munakata's given them all odd unfamiliar names like 'Awashima-kun' and 'Fushimi-kun'). Finally the whole thing goes down where Beni finally has to reveal his true identity as Kamado's right hand man and secret ninja, he probably suspects by now that Munakata's some kind of spy and already knew Beni was a ninja. He's surprised when Munakata expresses nothing but sheer delight at discovering Beni was a ninja all along, after all the misunderstandings are cleared up imagine Munakata shows back up at the restaurant the next day. Beni says Munakata should understand he isn't able to teach Munakata anything about making mochi and Munakata says of course not, he was hoping to become an apprentice in the ways of a ninja and he will not be taking no for an answer.

💎 Lilac x Gordie {Royalty + Royal Guard AU Fic} Chapter One | The Meeting 💎
Tumblr media
aaa i’m so happy! i’ve finished a fic of the first meeting of my s/i and gordie in the royalty au <3
yes it does say chapter one but. idk if this a proper series, its possibly a figurative ‘lets start from chapter one !’ its also just. omg it’s just a chapter like. not even a drabble. just a whole chapter HSJSND
but i truly hope you guys enjoy this! :0 (fic is in the keep reading !! ^^)
•••
The dark oak-stained carriage rattled around Lilac with every prance of Rapidash transporting it, the tight space and cool, pillowy seats barely making up for the sheer cold she was moving into.
In her gloved hands lied a handwritten letter from the Royals in Circhester; a neat cursive paragraph requesting her and her other guard apprentices to protect their home. After all, they would need good protection to hide their most precious jewels in the family, and they required the best of the best. In a way, it flattered Lilac to know they wanted her to assist them.
She folded the letter back into her sac tied at her waist, cuddling into her cape in shock from the sudden Circhesterian chill; she wasn’t too far from the castle now, and wished that they could’ve made her Royal Guard uniform more cozy inside. Perhaps they considered this weather late spring or summer temperatures...
Off guard, the shrill of Rapidash’s cry as it finally came to a halt nearly catapulted her into the rock-hard wood in front of her. She gasped in relief to have caught herself in time, straightening herself to correct such unawareness.
A crunch came from the snow as she dropped down from her carriage, a bag with her necessities slinged over her armoured shoulder. Walking to the near entrance, she turned to the coachman.
“Brr, it’s quite cold around here! You better stay safe in that house, Lilac!” he said, smiling cheerfully.
“Thank you, coachman.” she replied, turning next to the Rapidash, stroking its soft mane.
“And thank you, Rapidash.” she grinned at the Pokémon, in which it whinnied gleefully in response.
Walking across the tiled road to Circhester Castle, the snowy bushes brushed up against her, gorgeously grown flowers to withstand the eternal cold peeked their heads out of the fluffy hedges. Already employed guards outside were gossiping to each other about the family; perhaps they were new guards, like herself. Lilac halted, gaining the attention of the two guards at the grand door they stood up against.
Lilac decided to break the tension between them.
“I am incredibly sorry to interrupt. I am Lilac. I am here to sign myself into the occupation of Guard. I have a letter from the castle itself if you were to want it-“
Before her quiet voice were to finish her sentence, the doors loudly creaked open, revealing the Queen herself; the entrance surprised all three of the guards, yet they all retained the same serious face to show their composure. The Queen gave Lilac a stern look...
“Oh!” came the cheery exclamation of the Queen Melony, holding her hand to her face. “Welcome, dear! I suppose you must be the new Indoor Guard, correct?”
“I- um,” Lilac mumbled, clearing her throat to free the words she had before being surprised. “Yes, your Majesty. I have brought your letter. It is an honour to work with you.”
“Come inside!” invited the Queen. “‘Tis warmer in here, after all! I’ll show you to your position here in the castle.”
“Ah, thank you, your Majesty.”
•••
The warmth of the castle quickly defrosted Lilac’s freezing arms, and the sudden relaxation couldn’t help but make her stare in wonder at the details within: the castle walls were extremely high, regal tapestries hung. Across the tapestries came multiple family portraits from popular artists, and looking closely at the painting would reveal details drawn ever so to-the-point, it made Lilac ponder how someone could even make such a realistic piece in a time limit...
“Oh, I must say,” the Queen began to state. “My children can be quite the troublemakers, hoho... My youngest, a daughter and three sons, I believe they sometimes choose whom they like to see more often, more with my sons, I think. But... my oldest...”
She stopped in her tracks, and so did Lilac.
“... Well, he’s heir to the Throne, now. He possibly cannot choose who he works with, hoho!”
“I see, your Majesty.” Lilac lightly smiled to match the emotion of the Queen’s conversation. “I shall wish the Prince congratulations on being first to the Throne.”
“Oh, he would simply love that,” the Queen chortled. “He is quite the sensible man. I do hope he is excited to rule... I’ve had quite the years around here.”
It was hard for Lilac to decipher who this Prince was; after all, the long generations of family portraits across the wall couldn’t help Lilac’s imagination at all.
Queen Melony pointed to a space by a door, where Lilac stationed herself onto.
“Perfect! Your routine will to be to guard at this area, as well as to watch the household members around here if needed.
You will also patrol around here with other guards around 12 to 1 o’clock PM. Is that understood?”
“Yes, your Majesty.” Lilac agreed, straightening herself stoically. The Queen promptly smiled, and as she went out of sight, another guard poked their head out from the corner.
“Psst, hey. New guard.” they squeaked.
Lilac made eye contact with the other new guard.
“Have you seen Prince Gordie yet?”
“Who?”
“Prince Gordie!” another guard peeped. “C’mon, ‘who?’ Like, the Prince that is, like, constantly just... around? And cool?”
“I really don’t mean to be out of the loop, but...” Lilac held her chin to think. “I haven’t heard anything about any Prince Gordie... All I heard back from my town was when the Queen of Circhester came to visit, and when she did, it was never a ‘visit’ visit, only a ‘come to check out the best carriages’ visit.”
“Oh my Arceus, the Prince...!” yet another guard joined the conversation. “He looked shortly at me once. I just... I felt so seen...”
Oh, brother. Lilac looked away, until the commotion of the group caught her attention once again.
“Ah, look, there he comes...!”
A man came from the depths of the hallway, and suddenly it felt like everything was going slower - or perhaps Lilac was imagining things...
The man had his soft hair tied into a well-kept short ponytatail, as well as his soft and cute lapis eyes kept relaxed and sensual.
He walked with such confidence only a prince could ever have, his cape drifting gently across the satin carpets below. A slight jingling sound came from his minimalistic, yet beautiful necklace around his collar, the pendant resting on his chest where his relaxed blouse shaped the area around such jewellery.
His shoes lightly skipped across the satin carpets to not make even one noise, yet his heels made an dull tap that satisfyingly echoed across the area.
Whatever decent vision Lilac had of the Prince completely went from her mind; the Prince of Circhester, in her eyes, was indeed quite more handsome than she thought.
The guards squealed in delight, making all sorts of gestures to make Prince Gordie look over.
“Gordie! Could you please have a quick discussion with us? We need to talk to you about something?”
... And suddenly, all light the Prince had in his eyes disappeared as soon as he looked at them.
“... Gordie?” his deep, muttering voice repeated, his eyebrows furrowed. Lilac could see the optimism drain from the group, herself shivering along with them even if not involved.
“Never, in all my life, have I heard a stranger call me only by my first name. From what I recall, my title here is ‘Prince Gordie of Circhester’. Is that correct?” his angered voice paused for a while to let the guards rapidly nod their heads, truly attempting to not get into trouble.
“Yes. Now, all I want to hear from you few now is to refer to me as ‘Prince Gordie’. If you cannot, then ‘your Highness’, but if you can’t even manage a formal tone with a prince, you shall expect to be evicted from this castle. Is that understood?”
The guards nodded once again, mumbling out a few ‘Understood, Prince Gordie’s out from their held breath.
“Now. Don’t you have some patrolling to do? It is, after all, 12 o’clock. Go.”
The guards scurried away slowly, cowering from the unfortunate interaction.
Lilac, afraid herself of getting into an altercation, began to steadily inch her way around one corner.
“Please wait.” the Prince interrupted in a much normal, albeit naturally deep tone. Lilac hastily straightened her back once again, turned to face him.
“I did not mean you, I apologise for any confusion.” he stated, grinning. “It’s not actually 12, I just wanted them to leave, hehe.”
“My complete mistake, your Highness.” Lilac replied. “That is quite a tactic to make somebody leave, it’s certainly impressive, your Highness.”
“Hm,” Prince Gordie hummed, taking his chin with one hand. “Tell me, what is your name?”
Lilac paused, finding herself quite confounded at his question; oftentimes, asking for a guard’s name would be informal, as was taught in training.
“Ah, um, if you want it, It’s Lilac, your Highness.”
“Lilac, eh?” Prince Gordie grinned to himself. “A fitting, lovely name for a lovely guard.”
Lilac’s heart struck from the compliment, trying not to show any emotion upon her face, but the Prince began to speak again.
“I must go. I have quite a lot of errands to do.” he sighed, flicking his hair away from his vision.
“But, I do hope to see you again... Lilac.”
Prince Gordie gave a wave as he walked back out of the corridor, Lilac waving goodbye at the same time. As soon as he went completely, she faced the brick wall, intensely pondering the peculiar conversation she had had...
Surely...? Surely, he wasn’t trying to get her into trouble...? But, why would he take interest of only getting her name? Perhaps he was... No, absolutely not, Princes don’t form relationships with their servants...!
Unless, Prince Gordie wanted to?
Nevertheless, Lilac herself had duties to do. But, as she began to walk away, she couldn’t help but think as she rested her palm on her blushing cheek...

What if...?
So… I ended up doing this instead of working. It, uh… it kind of got away from me a little… or a lot… I meant for it to only be a quick little thought, but it ended up as a whole outline. Some of it is spoilery.
I’m going to post a small part 2 as well, for if a slightly different scenario takes place even within this already AU scenario.
In regards to some of my commentary on a previous post…Now I’m imagining a scenario in which the Treasure Bag swap did happen, and, in order to avoid being identified so soon as the time gear thief, Grovyle just straight up kidnaps Laura and starts dragging her around with him. Probably in this scenario he manages to do it without witnesses—or else he moves fast enough/is just disguised enough that no one could tell for sure who he was or what his motive was.
He feels really bad about it, but it isn’t as though he can just let her go after taking his bag back, because then she would just tell everyone else what she saw, and possibly what his next plans were. This wasn’t quite as big a deal to him in canon, because by the time Uxie managed to identify him, he was already 3/5 of the way to his goal. But here, the only time gear that everyone knows for sure is gone is the one from Treeshroud Forest, since Ditto is still keeping quiet about the one from Limestone Cavern being gone.
So he’s basically got her tied up like Pikachu from the original pokemon anime, or like he himself was in canon after finally being caught by Dusknoir (but without the muzzle, because he’s not a total jerk) and is just dragging her along behind him. She’s a surprisingly non-hostile captive, to be honest, even though she is really obviously upset at him. This may be in part because she’s realized that that the direction they are headed is in the same direction that Chatot alluded the expedition would be, so she figures that she will be rescued along the way. Or, if this takes place after the expedition, she recognizes that they are headed to Foggy Forest, and, thus, Fogbound Lake, and figures that she can make her escape once they reach Uxie. Grovyle, of course, has no idea about any of this, as he hasn’t heard about the expedition/might not know she’s from the guild, depending on where he took her.
Her docility has the unexpected effect of making the few people they come across think they are related to each other, though, which is both a blessing and a curse as far as his keeping hidden goes, because the first group they met was highly concerned by his “parenting/older brother-ing” tactics when they saw that Laura was tied up and pouting. So he had to mostly untie her for a while. Probably he just, like, tied their hands together and then pulled her close enough to hide the rope when they came across anyone else.
Grovyle thanks Arceus for the fact that Laura—whose name he doesn’t actually know at this point—can walk on two legs, even as he is insanely jealous of this fact, remembering his own time as a treecko, as it means that dragging her along with him is a lot easier than he thought it would be. Not that he actually planned for this to happen.
Eventually they will loosen up enough around each other that they will start talking. Grovyle is likely going to be the one to start, given that the way she’s acting—silently following him—is going to make him forget at times that it isn’t his partner following him (even though it totally actually is). So he’s probably going to slip up one day and start addressing his “Partner,” using her as a sounding board, etc. And Laura is going to pick up on this. And then start questioning him about things when they stop for the night—with the first question being whether he had a partner, since his use of that term along with some of the things he said is going to remind her about the dimensional scream she had at the groudoun statue (again, assuming that this happens after the expedition). Grovyle is probably going to slap himself for forgetting himself the way he did, but will reluctantly tell her about what she’s actually doing. He’s going to be surprised by her attentiveness—and how really, really into the story she’s getting, as he is likely going to tell her at least an abridged version of the Time Gear Legend—and also by the way she is apparently reserving her judgement on the situation.
He probably won’t actually tell her anything about his partner, though, beyond maybe “yes I have/had one.” Unless I want to do another scenario where he does tell her—but she would likely be at least a little skeptical at this point. Or even if she does start to think that she fits the bill and likely was actually his partner, she’s not going to tell him yet until she ascertains whether or not he’s telling the truth about his goal. If he is, then great! She will totally help! If he isn’t… then she is totally going to turn to the good side and stop him—because she’s come to like the world the way it is—and then will probably turn herself in to the authorities once the crisis is resolved and the time gears are back in their proper places.
But going with the assumption that they both remain unaware… Grovyle still doesn’t know what she’s actually thinking or whether she’s now sympathetic to the cause or not, so when they eventually make it to the Foggy Forest he starts looking for a place he can safely stash her while he goes on ahead to collect the time gear—because even if by now he has completely forgone actually tying her up any more, there is no way that he would be able to keep track of her if things came to fight (which he knows is likely, since Ditto pretty much confirmed that the other guardians had no clue anymore why they were guarding the time gears, and are almost definitely going to fight him) and he still can’t guarantee that she won’t be a hindrance to him. Also, he doesn’t want her slowing him down when time stops after the gear is taken, nor does he want to risk her getting caught up in that in general since, again, he isn’t heartless and feels really, really bad about kidnapping her.
So he probably, like, drugs her with sleep seeds and then ties her to a tree at the edge of the forest—or maybe forgoes tying her up, since after this point it probably won’t matter if she does get rescued/escapes and tells other people who the thief is, because Uxie is unavoidable and will probably tell everyone anyways. He just hopes that in that case she starts heading back the way they came, rather than trying to find help by way of the forest/steam cave. Wherever the perimeter is.
But if this is after the expedition… he doesn’t realize that she already knows exactly what to do in order to get to the time gear—and she has the advantage over his knowledge in this case since she was literally just here a little while ago, vs. him only knowing a route in the paralyzed future which probably doesn’t look quite the same, with the added bonus of things like flowing water/magma and weather conditions which would hinder him a bit, even if he is more used to them now.
So she gets there way ahead of him, and has the chance to talk to Uxie. Or else—and the slightly more amusing option—she gets there just as they’re about to start their climactic battle and yells out something like “So did Relatia really leave the Time Gears in order to stop Temporal Tower from falling?”
And then everyone just… freezes. Grovyle in shock over how quickly she managed to get up there, Uxie over the new information he has been presented as he tries to re-evaluate things and remember the legend. …And then sheepishly recall that, yes, that is actually what they are supposed to be doing with them. And the fact that Laura now knows about this legend when she didn’t before, either means that she remembered on her own… or Grovyle told her. So he asks where she learned about that—still without revealing her name—and when the answer is Grovyle, he figures that Grovyle is probably taking the gears in order to fix the Tower. Grovyle is still baffled by this turn of events, but also hopeful that things will get a little easier now that he apparently has support from the lake guardians. And possibly the apprentices, too, if they aren’t too mad at him about kidnapping her and all that.
So now basically all that’s left for Grovyle to do mission-wise is figure out where the Hidden Land is. Laura suggests that they go to the guild for that, which grovyle almost agrees to… until she also ponders whether the all-knowing Dusknoir might know anything. Upon which he adamantly refuses to go anywhere near that place, and lets slip about what Dusknoir is actually doing in the past. Which of course just makes Laura worry about her friends.
But Uxie still thinks it’s a good idea to seek help from the guild, so he hands the time gear to grovyle (and all three of them are slightly befuddled that time doesn’t stop—see my previous posts for an explanation of why) and then sends a message via telepathy to whichever of his siblings is closest before sending Grovyle their way while he escorts Laura back to the guild. She gives a surprisingly warm goodbye and good luck to Grovyle—or surprising to him at least, since, you know…. He kidnapped her, and everything. He probably sacrifices his Plain Seeds to her as an apology, even as he was, and still is, baffled by the fact that she likes them when it came out at some point during their travels and his heart aches at the fact that he is giving up the “treats” he had saved for his partner. They do remind him to tell Uxie to inform his siblings about the fact that he had a partner who travelled with him, though, just so they don’t accidentally attack her. …But he likely also forgets to give them much in the way of identifying features.
But in any case, Uxie takes Laura back to the guild, everyone is thrilled at her return and Dusknoir is left more or less in the dark about what actually happened. He may or may not have figured out Laura’s identity at this point—since the guild probably sought his help and Paula probably talked to him/them about what little they knew about her past in an attempt to figure out a motive—but whether he has or has not, he is thrilled by her return and doesn’t suspect grovyle’s involvement at all. All Uxie was willing to divulge was that Laura’s kidnapper ended up dragging her all the way over to his Lake, so he elected to bring her back after the problem was “taken care of.” The assumption is left that he erased the kidnapper’s memory—and no one really questions why law enforcement wasn’t involved, because the more pragmatic members of the guild realize that, unfortunately, proper time flow is more important that seeking justice, and the others are just glad that Laura is back. Dusknoir… may or may not actually know for sure the exact locations of the time gears, even though the legend heavily implies that Uxie kept one—after all, he may not have hidden it in his actual home—and since no one knew for sure who the kidnapper was, he may have just assumed that the motive was simply “this is a newer member of the guild, so she is probably therefore weaker than the others, but she still went on that recent expedition, so I can probably easily make her guide me to the treasure that is supposedly in Fogbound Lake.” So Grovyle’s involvement is completely hidden, and so far as Dusknoir knows Uxie’s time gear is still in its usual location.
The second he leaves, however, Uxie informs the guild about what has actually been happening, and who Dusknoir actually is, and asks them to start helping him search for the Hidden Land.
Grovyle, meanwhile, has made it to either Mesprit or Azelf’s Lake and is taking a little time to rest and chat with them before he heads on to the next location. Possibly they are even waiting for the other lake sibling to join them with their gear, but more likely they’re just chatting/waiting for an update since for all they know time no stopping in Fogbound Lake after the gear was removed was just a weird fluke, even though they are probably aware that a guardian taking it out and holding it for a while is fine so long as its still in the general vicinity.
But eventually the lake guardian hears an update and is like “you will be pleased to know that Uxie and Laura made it back safely, and Dusknoir is none the wiser.” And then Grovyle is going to freak out upon hearing that name, demands more information, and then it finally comes out that Laura is actually his partner turned into a pokemon. …Who is now in close proximity to Dusknoir. …And probably still has no clue who she is, unless they use telepathy again to pass that message on.
So that whole thing ends up being kind of a big mess, but Grovyle does rush back to Treasure Town and with everyone’s help they manage to subdue Dusknoir and the others before they get the chance to time travel or drag anyone into the future. And Grovyle and Laura have a somewhat awkward reunion. But Grovyle does get to hang out with the guild for a while, which is cool.
…The fact that the pokemon from the future will disappear will inevitably come out during this time, as a las-ditch effort by Dusknoir to salvage things, which is significantly less cool, and will likely give the others something of a pause as they digest all this, but it ultimately won’t matter much in the long run. As sad and heartbroken as everyone is about it. They are determined to give Grovyle and Laura the best times possible with what time they have left, though, and there is likely some frantic research going on in the background as they try and find a solution to this.
They run out of time to do so, however, so it is with a rather heavy heart that Team Rainbow and Grovyle head out to Temporal Tower to fix things… and then extreme shock, confusion, and anguish when Laura is the only one who ends up disappearing. Things only get more confusing and anguish filled when they return to Treasure Town sans Laura and find out that Dusknoir and the sableye, currently in prison, also still exist—which likely means that everyone else in the future does, too. Things only get more confusing and anguish-filled when they react with absolute horror upon finding out Laura’s fate, since, surprise! She was never supposed to be in danger of disappearing since she wasn’t even from this planet in the first place.
They may or may not decide to actually go back to the future. I’m guessing that they probably will, eventually, but they can’t do it right away since Dialga is too busy to help them and they don’t have any celebi/time passages handy. So it isn’t going to happen until Laura makes it back—because of course she will make it back. But she’s not going to remember anything past the night before they set out for Brine Cave, as in The World’s Treasure.
And then the post-game stuff is going to happen, delaying Grovyle’s trip back to the future even more, and he’s going to have an extremely interesting reaction to the revelation that Darkrai is the one who set everything in motion… Assuming Darkrai even follows through with that plan he had in the post-game, since he is probably more than aware of the fact that Grovyle is still hanging around…

Pokemon Au
N/: Alright, we’re starting off with this. This au (I have no name for it yet) works on some of the world building provided by the games/anime/manga to kinda synthesize it and make it more of, for a lack of a better word, a realistic universe (like the manga where, spoiler alert, several characters have been killed by both environmental causes and by each other and it is shown). It’s still a work in progress, so I might change how some things work or correct things I get wrong. Anyways, keep in mind this post is hella long, you have been warned.
The World:
Most of the regions remain the same, other than minor tweaks. Because this au is so far focused on the characters below, I’m mainly working on the Kalos region, as while I loved the xy games, the story really lacked details in some areas. I definitely encourage others to pose ideas for the other regions too, please, I’d love to hear from you guys. But anyways, here’s some world building stuff.
Changes to Areas: I’ll have a map drawn out eventually. But I wanted to include the Volcanion movie area, the Azoth Kingdom, and while I was looking at the regional map I noticed there are forest areas north and south east of the mountains that could still be considered part of the region. Hence west Kalos, where the setting is for gen six, is the main political/commercial hub and these two other areas are more closed off and reclusive for several reasons.
Kalos: This region, as shown by the war three thousand years before the game, and a war five hundred years before the anime with the azoth kingdom referenced in the volcanion movie, Kalos could be a very volatile and even admittedly unstable region based on its past. This region also didn’t have a professor until Augustine, as unlike Juniper he had to travel to get trained in sinnoh under Rowan (take that information for what you will, but for me it’s used to represent the instability based around 15-20 years before the xy series). Finally, like how it is implied in other regions, the Pokémon league is the political leadership of the area but there is still a royal family, they just serve more like a regional/national figure (which will be relevant later when discussing Lysandre).
Gyms: Eight gym badges are required to challenge the league (of course), however, there is usually more than eight in the region, based on local towns/populations, and they serve as defenders and local leaders for their communities, and have a higher responsibility of protecting the region as a whole (aka as seen in the ending of xyz).
Pokémon League: The primary council and political leadership, while the champion can vary drastically in age it is noted that the rest of the elite four always has at least one older and more experienced individual that can help lead, and in a normal scenario it is likely that the league was formed to a) create unity among the other regions to prevent further conflict between each other and b) organize a group strong enough to push back against threats that might arise. (In most cases this falls upon the gym leaders, likely the league gets involved as a last resort). The champions (Diantha, Steven, Wallace, Lance, Cynthia, etc) are chosen due to their charisma and likely are meant to be ambassadors between regions, mostly seen with Cynthia.
Legendary Pokémon: I mean this by the “god tier” pokemon, like the creation trio, arceus, yveltal and xerneas, basically any Pokémon shown to be able to communicate telepathically, (I’m definitely going to make a separate post about this topic but that’s for another time), can manifest themselves in a human like form. However this is very unlikely as it is shown that most of the legendaries really didn’t like humans and probably wouldn’t bother replicating their looks.
Humans: for the sake of keeping the anime/games pg of course pokemon aren’t outright killing people and other pokemon(lol but there have definitely been exceptions Jesus Christ), but in this au this can be explained by the idea that humans in the Pokémon universe are far more durable due to their exposure with pokemon (Ash getting thundershocked over and over again, trainers getting hit by stray attacks, resilience to fire, Meyer getting absolutely bodied by Zygarde and still being able to stand afterwards, etc etc.). This also plays into another concept (again something I’ll go more in depth in another post) that being exposed to a certain amount of certain types of pokemon have innate effects on their trainers.
Lysandre:
Look, we’re starting these sections off on the backstorys of these characters. Lysandre is referenced to very likely be a prince, a descendant of AZ’s brother due to both how he holds himself(plus his height) and the reference of sheer wealth Lys has. While I wouldn’t doubt he could’ve built himself from nothing, there are signs pointing that he is meant to be related to AZ so just as a note he and his family are relevant to Kalos for a variety of reasons. (I mean damn, his Japanese name is Fleur de Lis.)
Mier, Lysandre’s father and Sylvie, Lysandre’s mother, were members of the elite four until they eventually retire (Malva and Siebold take their place). In this au for the sake of it, despite the royal family not officially having control over the region, they still do what they can to look over it. Both Lysandre (and his brother Bastien that I’ll talk about later) are well educated and were, well, trained to be able to potentially take their place in the league. Lysandre didn’t really follow suit, instead founding his own research facility/business with the focus of improving Kalos technologically and making the region more accessible to itself. Bastien takes the role of actively representing the royal family, and is currently the king (despite that title meaning absolutely nothing). He also helps with facilitating communities, establishing relationships between towns, and reinforcing policies and proposing projects for economics first drafted up by the league.
Lysandre himself was very reserved and sheltered during his younger years. Their chateau, located in the forest area north of Geosenge, had very few neighbors. His family wasn’t really around that often due to his parents duty with the league and his brother residing mostly at the palace (which despite it being a museum it still has parts used for their average function... I might redesign it later on), but Lysandre spent most of his time with his childhood friend Augustine on his families ranch, up until the pair left to go explore Kalos (This time in the timeline Kalos, mostly in lumiose and the surrounding areas, is a dangerous place, due to a villain team that I’m working on.)
Lysandre was a very caring and an extremely generous individual (until later something so bad happens that it causes him to become a misanthrope. Referenced to be a bad event plus witnessing general human stupidity and greed). He was known for his love and admiration of life, human and Pokémon, and did what he could to protect it. (I still have some stuff to work out for the story during this time) He was willing to learn both the secrets of mega evolution and move based combat. He, alongside Augustine and the others, helped stop The Order of Midnight (the villain team, still a work in progress) from destroying Kalos.
After that, he establishes what eventually will become team flare (back when it wasn’t an evil organization and I’ll probably come up with a name for it later). He, with the help of Clemont (damn child genius), figure out how to provide lumiose and eventually Kalos as a whole with clean renewable energy. He is a known inventor and philanthropist around the region, he also took Clemont in as an apprentice up until Clemont took his father’s place as the lumiose gym leader.
Eventually something happens (still working out the details, but it will involve shadow Pokémon and maybe something with his brother), and Lysandre loses all hope in humanity. By this time and from his experience he hides his misanthropy very well, his friends notice something’s wrong but could never really pry enough to figure out what it really was, until events similar to a mix of the manga/the anime take place, (again this is a work in progress).
In a failed attempt to use the ultimate weapon the building collapses. Trapping Lysandre, who had direct exposure to the blast during the collapse, in and killing him in the process. However, because he used both xerneas and yveltal, became immortal (in a way were he can die but revives and heals /as long as he’s not impaled to something/ over and over again). Xerneas in an act of pity, as Lysandre helped her and yveltal when fighting the order, and an act of justice by freeing him from the debris and making him her champion to protect the world from those bent on making the same decision he did.
Despite his hesitation he also eventually reconnects with his friends, and through his service to xerneas rekindles his love for the world, despite knowing how unlikely it would be for the world to forgive him for his actions, but because the populace doesn’t know he’s alive he doesn’t really care as long as he could help and protect others, once again finding his purpose and his passion that he though he had permanently lost after ‘the event’.
(This is just a note, but as I scroll through sources I found that his misanthropy is also caused by his fear and his anger over his own shortcomings, as it is referenced in the anime and kinda in the games that his generosity was abused, and therefore holds himself to blame for not being able to help others because of his own blind willingness. It gives him character but isn’t something that isn’t easily incorporated into the timeline so I’m just putting it here.)
Augustine:
Augustine lived with his family (I’ll have names later, probably) on their estate/ranch, his father is a pokemon breeder and his mother is a pokemon ranger. Because of this, August grew up taking care of Pokémon to the point it became a literal second nature to him, and Pokémon are drawn to him naturally. However, even though he found that he was actually pretty good at both of his parents professions he didn’t really have a passion for them.
So as the years went on and he really didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life, when Lysandre proposed that he could come with him across Kalos he jumped at the opportunity. He was joined by a gabite, one that tended to give the family a really hard time but over time developed a really strong bond with him (at the cost of the smoothness of his hands /rip/).
He hates seeing Pokémon get hurt, but due to his background is a rather epic opponent in battle (he just says he’s weak to avoid conflict). But he is really good at caring for Pokémon after battle (hey maybe you can pay him back with a cup of coffee later or something). Instead during the journey he participated more in entertainment and performing and tried to avoid battling as much as he could.
However, when they get to lumiose (around the time Lysandre gets his third badge and they try to see if they can challenge Meyer) he discovers mega evolution when they encounter blaziken mask for the first time. This sets him on the path, after learning that Kalos has been without a professor for a really long time, to learn the secrets and techniques of mega evolution, (he later discovers that he is capable of mega evolving any one of his team, and the weaker members of the order built up quite a reputation for the man that could pull a super powered monster on you in seconds).
Meyer and Auriel also teach him about using pokemon moves, and how you can boost the strength of your own Pokémon (think like similar to ash greninja or az’s flotte). Once again he becomes quite a force to be reckoned with (and I’m considering making him apart of Meyer and Auriel’s team as a band of super heroes because hero Augustine is cool, okay?)
He also encounters a disguised Alva (the main villain of the volcanion movie to which they are unaware that he’s associated with the azoth kingdom) and finds out that mega evolutions can in fact be forced which a) terrifies Augustine, and b) motivates him to teach others the importance of having a bond with you pokemon if you’re going to have access to mega evolution, hence the entries on everything that goes wrong or the bad stuff that can happen with mega evolution (he discovered them from Alva.)
After the events with the order and through his own notes and research he is able to get a position under professor Rowan, leaving Kalos for a bit so he can go study in sinnoh. (If you mess with Augustine in the presence of Rowan I’m sorry but you’re hella dead, that man becomes a son to him.) Augustine also becomes a pretty well known coordinator in sinnoh, not really to the surprise of his friends but a surprise to the populace of Kalos after some of those details resurface a decade later.
(Not much is really changed with Augustine afterwards, other than making him even more of a force to be reckoned with and adding in some background details for him).
Meyer:
(Oh look one of my favorite characters) So Meyer was the lumiose gym leader, known for being one of the strongest in the region behind Olympia and Wulfric, and he could have become one of the elite for had it now been for the fact the he just wanted to settle down with his kids, his mechanic shop, and his super hero alter ego. He focused primarily on electric types and was rather difficult to get past for most trainers.
He was one of the major reasons lumiose was even inhabited during the issues with the Order, as he was a defender of the people and did his damndest to keep everything in order. Of course he is just one man, and even beat himself up over that fact that he couldn’t be everywhere at once to protect everyone.
He was also a single father, I’m not exactly sure about the circumstances, but after Bonnie was born their mother just wasn’t in their life afterwards, but he was able to raise his kids pretty well (he gladly accepted the help from his friends when he could, especially when they offered to look over the siblings so he could do his superhero stuff).
No one really discovered his identity other than his friends either because people just didn’t equate his sweetheart mechanic personality with the flying badass that is blaziken mask. His suit, unlike Auriel’s, is actually made by him. He’s not an inventor just because he didn’t want to draw attention to himself, but it’s very Ironman-esk in concept to he doesn’t waste time changing if shit starts going down.
He eventually joins forces with Auriel, another vigilante living in lumiose at the time, (maybe also Augustine after he returns from sinnoh) and they work togther to try and stop the order from causing chaos and destruction in Kalos.
Unlike Auriel he learned the process of using Pokémon moves by himself, that in combination with close calls with the order means he has a few scars, they’re primarily on his palms, lower legs, and torso. He tries to avoid that as much as he can because he doesn’t want his kids worrying about him over this stuff (but that plan didn’t work).
