I was talking to my lovely friend about this so I thought I would share:

Warning for Arcane spoilers!!!

I understand being upset about Ekko not getting a happy ending and about Singed getting his happy ending but I think you guys are also kind of missing a crucial point to the story of arcane as a whole. People in real life don't always get what they deserve - good people don't always get good things and bad people don't always get bad things. Arcane is showing you that harsh reality. We don't always get what we deserve, we are all imperfect, and we all make mistakes. Before I get into this next part i want to say that I am not excusing anyones actions but I am explaining them. You can feel however you want about all of these. Viktor thought he was helping people but he was mistaken. Cait was forced into a position she didn't want while she was grieving and made mistakes due to her mental state. Vi made the mistake of leaving Powder which led to her becoming Jinx and them becoming estranged. Powder made a mistake with that bomb which killed her friends and caused the death of Vander and Vi leaving her. Hell - Silco made many mistakes while he was trying to keep his promise to free Zaun (which I have a lot of thought on - maybe that will be a different post). EVERYONE in this show has made mistakes and that's what makes them feel so real and relatable. Humans make mistakes. And no, life is not fair. Powder and Vi deserved to grow up with a mom. Ekko deserved to have someone after all he did to save everyone. Sky did not deserve to die. Viktor deserved to be remembered for all of the good he did but his name was probably not written on a memorial paper and he will be remembered just as a villain. Mel finally lived up to her mothers expectations but her mom died in the process, leaving her with no one after everything was over and she didn't deserve that. I could keep going on forever about all of this but I think y'all get my point by now. Life is imperfect and I love Arcane for showing us this.

In my raw emotions after just finishing the finale, I have just one complaint so far…

HOW DID WE NOT GET A SINGLE “I LOVE YOU” FROM CAITVI GODDDDDD 😖😩😭

… or a spoken “I’m sorry” from Caitlyn now that I think about it more 🥺😤😩 don’t get me wrong, I see how her actions spoke louder than those words, but it would’ve still been nice to hear them 😞❤️

so the rune the Jayce of this timeline/world gets is the Acceleration rune which is perhaps why he goes to the future instead of going with Heimerdinger and Ekko which gave him the idea to build the Hexgates to transport things quickly over a long distance

and that Ekko uses to build the portal home and his time machine watch

So, if they're using this acceleration rune, even if outwardly nullified by the inversion of Ekko's device being thrown at them, maybe the boys at the end aren't sacrificing themselves...

Um actually Vander isn't fully gone (the complete proof) (HEAVY SPOILERS)

spoilers for the entirety of arcane s2 obviously watch it if you haven't or don't if you care about your mental health

Although we see his memories/emotions get acetoned away in s2e7s final scene, and the following battle with his kids has him attacking them pretty rabidly.

But wait...

Tumblr compressed this image to hell, so you'll just have to trust me.

If you look closely as he lunges at Vi and Jinx, a tear appears in his right eye (not previously seen)

We can see it better after Jinx hits him with her rocket.

After Vik gets Jayced we see these tears on full display. The size of the tears is significantly larger, so we can assume they were spilled as Warwick corrupted the girls with void magic, indicating some amount of awareness.

Of course immediately after the screencap above Warwick attacks Vi, Jinx does a side slam and the father daughter duo barely get caught by Vi's gauntlet

Jinx and Vander plummet to their presumed deaths (they are both alive, but for drama’s sake, let's pretend). Vander/Warwick doesn't attack Jinx despite her being entirely in his grasp.

He could shred her right then and there. A mindless beast would, he doesn't.

Vander holds Jinx gently, he doesn't dig into her flesh, he just holds her and lets Jinx cup his face.

We see a flashback of Vander watching the girls sleep. Since he is the only conscious one in this situation this implies is that it is not Vi's or Jinxes memory, only Vanders.

Reader, you might think, well how the hell does he remember anything didn't he get mind wiped an episode ago. To that I respond I don't fucking know, but arcane is VERY intentional with its details and nothing else makes sense.

Jinx escapes, this isn't even subtle. She does so BEFORE the bomb blows. In no universe would Jinx break Warwicks grip, hell, she's toast if any stronger character grabs her (fe. Ambessas bodyguard). Do you know what that implies??

Since Warwick wasn't incapacitated at that point, HE WILLINGLY LET HER GO. He used the last shreds of humanity to give his daughter a second chance at life.....

I AM NOT OK

Below there's the more speculative part I'm not sure of.

Warwick, unlike Jinx, didn't escape into the air ducts. But we've seen him survive significant explosions in the very same episode, moreover he survived Isha blowing him up with the force of 3 magic orbs, and yet he lived.

This can only imply that Warwick/Vander survived. Of course the previously mentioned flashback shows Vander blowing a candle out which can symbolize his life ending, but I'd say it's more likely a subtle way of showing the destruction of their family unit as it was.

Edit: some people are calling this theory copium I'd agree at first but now that I thought about it more Vanders fate is objectivelly worse than death so i dont know if me being potentially right is a good thing.

I am aware this is complete copium yet maybe Jinx took him wherever the fuck she went on that airship to heal him up while sparing Vi from fighting their unkillable werewolf dad over and over again. Vander is still in there are proved by this long ass post, and I think Jinx knows that. I don't think she could give up on Vander like she wanted Ekko and Vi to give up on her.

I was anticipating the kiss, but when it happened, I fully leaped up out of bed and started hyperventilating because MY BABIES KISSED AND I’M SO HAPPY ABOUT IT!!!

AND VANDER AND SILCO?! I was like “is silco here? I wanna see some zaundads” AND THEN HE WAS AT THE PARTY! AND HE AND VANDER ARE SO MARRIED

anyways, let’s not ignore the psychological horrors that jayce was going through this episode. my poor bbg. I never hated him for anything he did because I knew something happened to him, and we got to see what happened. I’m so glad that they showed what happened during jayce, ekko, and heimerdinger’s time in the whatever it’s called (I forgot lol)

Caitlyn and Ambessa's Game of Cat and Mouse pt 5- "Don't Underestimate Ambessa"

Here is where Vi and Caitlyn put their plan to trick Ambessa into motion. Now the thing is, is that they've already underestimated Ambessa before the full plan is even put into fruition.

Right after Ambessa says, "Well done, Caitlyn" she looks over to Rictus who nods and leaves. To me, that's a silent request, "keep an eye on her." she's already suspected that with Vi back in the picture whatsoever that Caitlyn's become "distracted" as she puts it. despite the two doing some pretty top tier acting (btw Caitlyn was totally into Vi spitting on her don't lie); when Singed is ready to go, Ambessa silently tells Caitlyn to go with him, but having sent Rictus out first, means that he's been watching Caitlyn as the two carry their plan out.

She then goes on this whole speech to thank Vi for leaving in the first place, because with really the only voice of reason in Cait's life gone, Ambessa saw that she could easily manipulate her however she liked (or so she thought). So with Vi back in the picture, and her making "too many complications", Ambessa's plan here was just to kill Vi. Regardless if the two were carrying out a plan against her. After Vi says, "she's not distracted" you see a smirk on Ambessa's face, she does believe this, she thinks that Caitlyn has fully gotten over Vi and her loyalty to Ambessa hasn't wavered.

But then Vi keeps talking. and you can see that Ambessa's face grows with suspicion as Vi continues to do so.

After Vi says, "Just shut the fuck up." Ambessa looks over towards Caitlyn's gun, she realizes that the net compartment is empty, and that Caitlyn left it that way when she left. she realizes that she's been played, and tries to kill Vi, but its too little too late for that because Vi's able to take her out.

Now something I haven't seen people mentioning is that when Vi says "Vander's in trouble. I have a plan, you're not gonna like it." she's actually talking to Jinx here. Jinx doesn't shoot Caitlyn not Just because she sees Caitlyn take out Singed, because it's apart of their plan. What Jinx isn't gonna like is that she's not allowed to shoot Caitlyn, she's supposed to be Caitlyn's Backup if anything happens to her.

And something does. Because Ambessa sent Rictus out earlier he saw Caitlyn take out Singed, that she betrayed Ambessa. when he says "Ambessa believed in you." it seems to me that Ambessa thought that she had Caitlyn's loyalty the whole time, which was rather stupid of her. And he tries to kill her, which is why Jinx takes action.

After Jayce kills Victor and causes Warwick to lose control again, killing Rictus, Caitlyn realizes that she's made Ambessa lose both her coveted weapon, And Rictus. And realizes that she's been caught doing so, which is why she turns in shock to see Ambessa.

The look that Ambessa gives her is a look of disbelief before turning into one of pure unbridled rage.

Caitlyn's both won and lost their game of cat and mouse. because while she temporarily stopped Ambessa, but it seems that in the next Act she's working with Singed to resurrect Warwick, and that a lot of her soldiers look to be hyped on Shimmer when they attack Piltover.

So with ALL this outta the way, let's talk about Vi and Caitlyn's argument to come in the next Act:

The way they're framing it in the trailer, it makes it look like that Vi's accusing her of just sitting there and taking whatever Ambessa's said to her, considering what Vi's been told by Ambessa in ep 6, "She oinked poison in your ear and you just ate it." and Caitlyn scream of "I know!" makes it seem like Caitlyn's agreeing with Vi that Caitlyn just let Ambessa do all that, that she was just blindly following Ambessa and letting her do whatever she wanted.

But if everything I'M saying is correct, it seems like the "I know!" statement is going to more-so shed light on the fact that Caitlyn fully knew what Ambessa was about. and tried in her own way to take her down just wasn't able to fully do anything of merit until Vi came along. Which is a better defense for her, and Might calm Vi's anger down a little bit (still needs to apologize for hitting her though).

Ambessa's whole downfall was picking Caitlyn to begin with. Why? Few reasons. 1) She's a detective, she notices things that people miss on the regular, it's how she noticed the corruption happening under the Councils noses back in S1. 2) She's a politicians daughter, she's been around powerful and corrupt people her entire life, so she's learned a thing or two about manipulating people/situations to her will. 3) Most importantly, she's recently been exposed to people like Silco and Marcus, so that's made her weary of people more in general, and it's how she caught onto Ambessa's bullshit so quickly.

The thing is, I think if she picked Salo instead, Caitlyn would have probably still been suspicious of her anyways, just probably would have been able to be more under the radar trying to figure her out.

I know I’m gonna have more complaints the longer I sit with it, but right now that was the best ending I think we could’ve had.

Arcane is one of the most beautiful masterpieces I’ve ever been lucky enough to witness. I’m so sad it’s over, cuz this is all I’m gonna be talking about for a long time

So I've been thinking about the kiss.

In the moment, I was excited to see it of course, but I also was like... "huh, that felt off, quick, it didn't even really have that much oomph to it you know" and we've seen how this show does their romantic scenes. So I've been sitting on it for a bit.

And I think that was intentional.

Cait is really in the midst of several conflicting emotions. She's grieving, she's angry, she cares about Vi, she wants to murder Jinx, she feels safe in Vi's arms, she can't fall apart in public.

Vi is doing the best she can to be a supportive partner, trying to help keep Cait and herself afloat. And Cait does latch on to that. In the quiet moments between everything going to shit, Cait seeks out Vi's touch, her kiss, her... but ultimately she pulls away. Because she can't allow herself to linger there. She's got bigger fish to fry. She's vengeful, and Vi's support is only a temporary band-aid that's already peeling off at the slightest bend of skin (I swear I'm not trying to sound really pretentious I just really wanted an analogy here).

Cait can't fully put herself in this moment because her emotions are everywhere, and completely zeroed in on her big goal. She lets herself fall into something simple, something comforting, only to throw it aside in the end.

That's why the kiss was... lacking, I guess we'll say. At least that's how I felt.
