Finding someone in real life with the same niche taste in books as you is akin to the clouds parting and sun shining down and everything good in life all at once actually. I'm a deer in the headlights of a car except the person driving the car is also a deer so it's great

Ok but if I wrote a fic where corin was asexual but not sex repulsed /under a very specific set of rules and conditions that includes I touch you but you don’t touch me/ (oops he’s a dom I guess)
Would y’all read it or bully me off the internet

Being an primarily an audiobook listener means I often get fun surprises called “this author doesn’t know how their own words are spelled”

I just finished the whole Arcane Ascension series by Andrew Rowe! Really enjoyed it, it has queer characters and fun magic and I’m sad it isn’t more popular! Definitely recommend the audiobooks too because Nick Podehl’s performances of the various characters adds a lot I think.
There has to be a language that has a word for the satisfied sadness you get when finishing a book series.

Diversity win! The goddess who made deadly tests for kids and teenagers to get (a type of) magic might be sapphic!

I've recently bought (and finished) the arcane Ascension series, and was looking through Tumblr for some other fans of the series to follow, and kept seeing references to a server, presumably on discord. Is it a public server for fans? If so, I'd quite like to join to talk with other people about these books, if that's okay.
Hi! So glad to have another fan on Tumblr, most of the poeple stick to the discord server. Which is fair, because it's an amazing place!
The Climbers Court is the Official Andrew Fan Server (or as close to it as it gets, given how Rowe himself is in it and makes the occasional appearance), and it is public! Here is the link, which can also be accessed through Rowe's website.
I hope to see you in there soon!

Hope can be a source of strength, but when it fails to deliver what I want, I’ve found a good degree of stubbornness to be an appropriate substitute.

Edge of The Woods...
Helluva good name, if you ask me. But can a book live up to such a name?
In my opinion: Yes.
Edge of the Woods perfectly dances the line between fairy tale mystery and full novel, never dipping too far one way or the other.
While reading it, I could see just how vibrant and magical this part of his world is, and I fell in love with it like nothing else I'd seen.
The entire book sings with a witchy, forrested vibe that struck a chord with me, and if you're a fan of that type of content, you've gotta read this book.
Some of the most common issues I see with Andrew's works include an over-focus on numbers and weaker characterization.
For the first point, this book ditches much of the numeric component of things. It does still dive fairly deeply into the technical aspects of magic, but I found that enjoyable. I do fully admit that it isn't for everyone, though.
Weaker characterization was NOT a problem in this book.
Every character we come across feels distinct, from the major players, to the minor ones. Characters who only show up a few times still stuck out handily in my mind, and there are a half dozen side characters who could be main characters in their own right, which gives the world a rich feel.
All in all, this may be my favorite book Andrew's put out thusfar.
9/10

Do you ever think about how when Corrin was isolated for all those years, the only reason he would ever by touched is to be abused

Thinking about Corin as transmasc bc of course I am. And like. It works. All his issues(tm) line up very well with being trans.
But also there’s no way Magnus Cadence would allow/accept a trans kid. Like. Even if those who take after Wyd are like. Commonly accepted. Magnus is the kind of bitch that would be an asshole about it.

Hello! I just noticed that you also like the Arcane Ascension novels. It's nice seeing someone else who's into them.
Yes! Andrew Rowe is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! He was my introduction to the LitRPG genre and I’ve been hooked since. I’ve been listening to the audiobook versions of all his series because a gentleman named Nick Podehl does the narration for them. He’s great at making the different characters feel like characters. I sometimes forget it’s just one guy doing all the narration. I’m having fun with it and it seems like an underrated series.
