Have really been in the mood to keep drawing my designs for the “they survived” Domino Squad AU (designs here )
So have my full armour breakdowns for them. I thought I should properly sit down and get those sorted. I think it’s phase two armour? But I’m not great with those differences. Also, first sketches of the squad in colour.
Tumblr media
Also, thought I’d give Cutup a hint of a beard since his cannon design had one. I haven’t really been drawing him with one because in my version he’s chilled out a lot in recovery from almost being eaten alive, and he’s grown his hair out. And, clones with long hair and beards are just arguably the hottest clones and I don’t think Fives would ever let him be the hot one of the group.

A few notes on armour designs I didn’t elaborate much on in the notes (and some character traits linked to it) :
Hevy’s armour is pretty basic for an ARC, but he definitely responds to anyone asking why with something about not needing elaborate armour to beat a lot of droids. He has taken on a lot of leadership roles in the company, and Rex has even made several comments about him taking over as Captain if anything was to happen to him.
Fives on the other hand got ARC armour and decided he was going to tick every single design detail he could (including the Eel helmet which probably should have been Cut’s, but he wanted his scar on his so Fives was allowed it.) Unlike the other two ARC’s, he doesn’t get an official role, but he doesn’t mind, it leaves him open to get into more trouble and not be responsible for anyone else.
Echo is still very regulation oriented, but the only known regulation he has publicly broken is modifying his armour to be mirrored so he could keep Rex’s hand print in its original position. The others tease him about this constantly. He is an exceptional strategist and is Rex’s right hand man when it comes to any sort of planning or attack strategy. He’s the most modest of the squad, and constantly talks down his abilities whenever others hype him up about his skills. He’s one of the top strategists in the GAR, but it would be a miracle if you could get him to admit that.
Cutup is ecstatic about the fact he is now covered in scars (although much bigger and less idealised than the designs on his armour) because it matches his name. He has no intention of becoming an ARC. The Rishi outpost and his long recovery changed him a lot, and left more than just physical scars, he prefers to step back from the intensity of what his brothers do, even if he was offered the promotion. He and Kix are very close, and he sometimes works as a support person in the med tent if he needs an extra set of hands.
Droidbait is the opposite. He desperately wants to be an ARC like the other three, but has never been very fit for the position. He is the least confident of the squad, and his time separated from them on Rishi didn’t help. The commemoration bands on his leg are for those who they lost on the Rishi moon, and he won’t tell anyone the significance of there being two. He was the only person who survived the droid attack (after the other four escaped) and refuses to say how he managed to, but whatever happened made him much more anxious. The others don’t pressure him into saying anything.

The Domino Triplets
Happy May the 4th, everyone!
Here’s something a little different than my usual OC posts.
It’s an AU that’s been stuck in my head for the longest time where Hevy managed to survive Rishi, and became an ARC trooper alongside Echo & Fives! (Hevy deserved so much better than what he got and no one will change my mind about that)
It comes with a lot of prepackaged angst (99s death, what happens to Echo in the Citadel Arc, UMBARA, what happens to Fives, finding Echo, Siege of Mandalore, etc), as well as a lot of chaos with Hevy being part of the 501st and getting involved in Anakin & Ahsoka’s battle plans.

Audio Length: 12 minutes, 36 seconds
Summary:
Hevy appreciated the extra training that made him a better soldier, but at the end of the day he was a squad leader. That’s what he wanted to be. He didn’t need to be an ARC. But he didn’t want to hold Fives and Echo back.

Art rec!! I love this amazing piece of Hevy, Fives, and Echo catching a snooze after ARC trooper training. @razzbberry is so talented and they look so comfy in their little cuddle pile 🥰🥰
I LOOOOOVE Nils's art SO MUCH, and this piece is SO CUDDLY. I ADORE IT. IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY. The way Echo is holding up Hevy's head. The way Hevy has his face covered. The way I'm sure Fives is drooling on Echo's shoulder. IT IS SO SWEET. I CANNOT SCREECH ABOUT IT ENOUGH, BUT I AM ATTEMPTING TO. LET OUR BOYS REST. Thanks so much for sending this in!
Participate in Fandom Friday to show your favorite creators from this week some love! :)

Echo canonically being sentimental (and a sweetheart)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With his armor, there's also the "For Hevy" memorial, the fact he kept Rex's handprint, and that he put the Bad Batch skull on his armor before he even joined them
Tumblr media
Echo holding 99 as he died has always stuck out to me as one of the saddest/sweetest things in TCW (especially since the show rarely actually shows clones mourning/expressing much emotion)
I also noticed that Echo is often the one to mention his brothers by name, and make sure they're remembered. And of course his entire thing about saving his brothers and leaving no one behind. (Also that he turned the call signs into this like nickname/inside joke thing with Omega is so adorable to me ahh)
--
And then there's whatever this is:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Not even a reaction to the name (and we know they are good at implying expression under those helmets)! I know this is old news but it bears saying lol. They had the perfect opportunity here to not only address Echo's loss, but also to honor Fives and the sacrifice he made to discover the chips. A sacrifice which saved Ahsoka, Rex, and now the Bad Batch. This is obviously not the first time Echo and Rex talked about Fives, he knows he's dead (I firmly believe he would not have left the 501st if Fives was still alive), but come on! This did the bare minimum to check the box of 'mention Fives.' How about you cut Wrecker getting attacked by a sarlacc or whatever and give that screen time to show us an actual conversation?
Like I found this bit in an interview:
While the conversation obviously never happened onscreen, Corbett says that doesn't mean it never happened, suggesting the two talked offscreen, saying "For Fives, I imagine that Rex and Echo had that conversation after he was rescued off of Skako Minor, and I know in Season 1 we did have Rex reference Fives on Bracca," adding "So, in my headcanon, they've had many conversations about Fives."
And I'm just like... Jennifer! You don't have to have headcanons, you are literally the writer! Show us!!
(Also he should have gotten his handprint again no I will never let this go)

Adding onto my “what if they survived” Domino Squad art designs. I have been doodling them to pass time. (Also, reposting the original design beneath as well cause I love them)

I know he is a clone who got like five seconds of screen time, but Cutup has been my favourite redesign. I’ve got really attached to my head cannons for him.

Saying goodbye on Anaxes
Another piece for my Hevy survives AU, this one being a lot more angsty compared to the last one I posted.
Hevy and Echo saying their goodbyes on Anaxes after Echo chooses to join the Bad Batch instead of remaining with Hevy, Rex, and the 501st.
(I’m planning on getting another commission made of Echo and Hevy seeing each other again after Echo leaves the Bad Batch to help Rex)

A'sharad Hett for the ask game!
“It has to be earth,” a voice says, insistent, and A'Sharad pauses before he can round the corner, faintly surprised. He’s never heard Echo raise his voice like that outside of contentious strategy meetings and—
“General Hett?” Fives demands, pitched to incredulity, and A'Sharad raises a brow, entirely caught off guard by the mention of his own name. “Look, General Kolar is an earthbender. General Hett isn't pigheaded—”
“Fives,” Droidbait says on a sigh, and Fives makes a wounded sound. Over whatever he’s about to say next, Droidbait pitches his voice up deliberately and says, “You know personality doesn’t factor in to bending, that’s a myth.”
“If it’s a myth, then explain Mace Windu,” Cutup jokes, and then yelps like someone just thumped him. “Droidbait!”
“Fine,” Echo says at the same moment, sounding annoyed. “If he’s not an earthbender, what is he, Fives?”
Amused, A'Sharad leans back against the wall, interested to hear the verdict. It’s a game initiates in the Temple sometimes play, guessing Jedi's talents, and something about hearing his squad engaged in the same debate curls warm through his chest despite the chill of the ship.
“An airbender,” Fives says, with the full conviction of a man set in his opinions. “Tatooine has a lot of wind, right?”
“And a lot of sand,” Echo insists. “He’s an earthbender.”
“It’s also hot,” Cutup offers. “And it has two suns. So firebenders would be extra powerful, right?”
“If the planet made that much of a difference, there wouldn’t be a single earthbender born on Kamino,” Droidbait points out. “It’s just—chance.”
“Every firebender I've ever met has a temper,” Fives says. “Just look at Hevy. You're telling me personality doesn’t play any part?”
“How would you even judge that?” Droidbait sounds like he’s rolling his eyes, and A'Sharad hides a smile. “We don’t know General Hett that well.”
“Well enough to know that he’s an earthbender,” Echo insists.
“You mean well enough to know that he’s an airbender,” Fives counters.
“Odds are he’s a firebender—” Cutup yelps again, and there's a scuffle. “Fives, let go—”
“We’re taking this to the mats,” Fives declares. “Whoever wins has the highest likelihood of being right.”
“When you lose, you have to scrub out my footlocker,” Echo says, and steps retreat. A'Sharad risks a glance around the corner, and snorts at the sight of Cutup caught between Fives and Echo, Droidbait being frog-marched down the hall by Fives. It is, he’s coming to learn, not an unfamiliar sight, even if he’s only had his squad for a few weeks now.
“Sir,” Hevy says from behind him, and A'Sharad turns, finds his new commander just a few steps away, brows raised. “Everything all right?”
“Perfectly fine,” A'Sharad allows. “You managed to contact Knight Secura?”
Hevy shakes his head. “I got her padawan, though. Commander Tano says they spotted a Nightsister in one of the neighboring towns while scouting, and General Secura went to investigate. It could be Ventress, but they're not sure.” He offers up a familiar pouch, beaded in the Tusken style and hung with krayt teeth, and gives A'Sharad a look. “I think you forgot this, sir.”
A'Sharad takes the waterskin, clipping it to his sash beneath his outer robe. “Thank you, Commander. There's little risk when we’re in hyperspace, though.” Pauses, considering the waterskin and then considering Hevy, and says mildly, “What are the current odds for the betting pool, Commander?”
“I have no idea what you mean, General,” Hevy says, but that smirk is saying quite a lot, too, and none of it good for his squadmates.
A'Sharad makes a sound of amusement, tugging his robe a little to cover the waterskin. “If there is a particular time it would be most convenient to reveal myself,” he says, faintly dry, “I can oblige. For the squad’s morale, of course.”
Hevy snickers, but falls into step with A'Sharad as they head down the hall. “Thanks, sir. My caf rations will appreciate it.” He casts a glance ahead of them, and then says more quietly, “You don’t waterbend often. I wasn’t sure if it was something you didn’t want to share.”
A'Sharad weighs the question for a long moment, then breathes out. “Water is both scarce and sacred on Tatooine. Waterbenders are valuable, both to my people and the settlers. My mother was a slave, Commander, taken for her bending ability, and she was terrified I would share the same fate. Using my power sparingly is habit, at this point.”
Hevy curls his fingers, brushes a thumb over the dramatic shockwave paint on his armor. A'Sharad can feel his conflict, and just for a moment, there's an image A'Sharad can see, one impossible burst of fire so vast it covers the whole room.
Hevy doesn’t use his firebending often, either. A'Sharad has noticed that, over the last few weeks.
“We grew up with bending just being another way to fight,” Hevy says after a long second. “It’s good to remember there's other things it’s meant for.”
Like surviving, A'Sharad doesn’t say. Instead, he reaches out, touches the glowing red heart of the explosion on Hevy's armor, one light brush of fingertips, and says, “Your squadmates just headed for the practice room. I believe the bets are about to increase.”
Hevy snorts, but his grin has an edge of teeth behind it. “Just in time for me to cash in. Sesid has a lot of water, right?”
A'Sharad hums in confirmation. “The planet’s landmass is primarily island chains of varying climates, but it is mostly water.”
“Perfect for waterbenders. What a shame only Cutup can appreciate it.” Hevy opens the door to the cockpit before A'Sharad can reach for it, and his expression is full of amusement. “I don’t suppose you're going to need to use your bending one week from tomorrow, sir.”
It will take them three days to reach Sesid, and then likely two more to reach Aayla. A'Sharad raises a brow, then says, “Odds are good I can hold off that long, Commander. Can I ask what you’re hoping to win?”
“Four devoted servants for life,” Hevy says, perfectly smug, and A'Sharad chuckles as he sinks down in the pilot’s chair, already reaching for the comm.
