Arashi is aware of his status as one of the Science Patrol's resident Funny Chaps™, but he doesn't mind. He keeps doing what he does best- fighting giant monsters with wild enthusiasm, generally- and life is good. He's also quite a good barbecue chef.

Now that I finished Ultraman I watched the first episode of Ultraseven.

I'd heard that Ultraseven is better than Ultraman, and yeah, I can see; I guess that they got the rhythm of things by the end of Ultraman they hit the ground running with Ultraseven, the story is interesting, the villain is cool and our new hero is actually very interesting.

Yeah, okay, Ultraseven is a more compelling hero than Ultraman. First off, he has a wider selection of powers, he's got his Pokemon (I can see how the Capsule Monsters inspired them), he's got a laser and his head-boomerang, doesn't immediately turn giant, he does things in human size first; he's much more versatile than Ultraman. Second, he's mysterious, I was surprised that the first episode doesn't reveal the origin of Ultraseven, he just shows up and helps Ultra Guard; how does he knows this things and how he got this powers? Who knows, it's a ~mystery~

Also my first impression of Ultra Guard: Oh my god there's extras! UG is not just 5 people and a child that's there for some reason! Oh, there's a white guy (without an exaggerated accent, thank god). Ah, that's guy looks like Arashi; actually that guy looks a lot like Arashi, is it the same actor? And yes, it is, that's Sandayu Dokumamushi, he's in both shows, so until I remember his name this guy will be known as "Arashi 2.0" (sidenote, according to the Ultra Wiki a later Ultraman novel claims Arashi and the other guy are actually twins who were separated as children)

Okay so Mitsuhiro Ide is a total himbo and I love him, but him correcting Arashi on humans and dinosaurs coexisting (while confidently stating that dinosaurs and MAMMOTHS coexisted) makes me genuinely wonder what qualifications you need to join the Science Patrol.

These people do not act like scientists, they act like theatre kids who've been drafted into a paramilitary Kaiju fighting organization.
