There's something so tragic about og moshang. Two sharp objects circling each other. They saw each other at their lowest and were part of the other's slow rise to success. They're witnesses to each other in a way few others will know.

Hundreds of years at each other's beck and call, and only one is called master. The betrayal didn't happen until everything Shang Qinghua had worked for was stripped away from him. Did they love each other? Did they resent each other?

I know Mobei Jun killed Shang Qinghua, but I wonder if he was in mourning afterwards. When he plunged the sword through the body of the man who saw something worthy in him before he became King of the North, who had served him with as much loyalty as was possible for him, did he hesitate in his heart? I know his movements were cocksure, but did his heart clench for a moment? Did Shang Qinghua know the demon he served would kill him? Did he die knowing that he'd fail in his task, but wanting to die anyways? Was there more love in his heart or hate, when the seed he helped grow crushed him under its weight? Did he remember the first warnings he had heard of as a child, about how all demons are evil Scum? Did he regret throwing his lot with this man?

Did he feel disgust at being killed by a lesser race?

Ah, I write nonsense sometimes. I was only wondering if Mobei followed demon mourning customs after his vassal died. Wear white at the same time year after year. Or does the North not have a mourning practice?

Did he preserve the vassal's body? Did he bury it with the Queens of the old? Did he eat the body of the weak, puny, deceptive cultivator? Did he linger on brown hair after or keep a few scraps of yellow in his room?

Or did he burn the body once and for all and continue serving Lord Luo, ignoring the specter at the corner of his eye?

HONESTLY. I think Angel likes the first movie, but has some pet peeves with the second one ("THAT SPECIES OF BIRD DOES NOT LIVE IN THE AMAZON RAINFOREST, IT LIVES IN ANOTHER ONE–" / "yes mom we get it, it's okay"), but then the music starts playing and they're just "🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 peace and love on planet Brazil 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰".

They got both movies on DVD because the younger toys wanted to see it, and behold, they like them!

This weeks' Maniculum Bestiaryposting Challenge entry concerns the Lumchagg! We get two different versions the description, one in which it turns to the sun and self-immolates to rise from its own ashes, while in the other one it turns itself into bird soup and emerges as a worm, only to grow wings later on.

Since we already had a few other birds using the sun as some kind of rejuvenation therapy, I decided to focus on the second version. It made me think of the life cycle and metamorphosis of moths and butterflies. However, according to the bestiary, the process works a bit differently. I have rendered the four stages as described: Old age, pupa, larva and finally, imago.

Both descriptions stated that this bird reaches an age of around 500 years, so I chose an ara macaw, as they are notorious for their long lifespans. As for their coloring, one of the descriptions stated it is purple. I vaguely recall reading once that the word purple/purpura used in older texts could mean the color as we know it now, but also describe other rich colors or some kind of scintillating effect. I can't find any source on this right now, so I might be completely wrong. However, based on this, I decided to make this one a rainbow bird/worm just for the fun of it.
