TS-0026, confined to a glass tank filled with water and whatever else the containment team’d had the mercy of providing, surrounded by researchers in white coats and black button ups.

It was a particularly chilling sight to Helix, for whatever reason. More so than the others. Hell, they were only.. what, 17? It felt wrong, in every sense of the word. But he was tied down to this job. He had no other option.

The ginger sighed, and proceeded forward into the surrounding chamber, Layna, his assistant snd secretary, following close. “Does this thing ever sleep?” Helix remarked, more to himself than anybody else, but he wouldn’t mind an answer either.

“Apparently” A nearby researcher responded, Helix’s keen eyes darting over to the speaker. “It just finds a spot, gets comfy, and falls asleep right on the spot, straight into deep stage sleep.”

“…Huh.” Helix murmured, eyes drifting back to the tank. Straight into deep stage? How… weird. “Do we know how it does that?”

“Not a clue” Another passing researcher replied. “It’s harder to run tests on.. well, a merman, considering half our staff don’t know how to swim, and it’s generally quite hard to run exams under water.”

Ah, of course. Helix didn’t know why he hadn’t considered this earlier. He barely knew how the containment team had secured the subject in the first place. It would’ve been a feat in of itself. Actually trying to run tests on it was going to be a whole marathon.

“Well, find a way” He snapped after a moment. “I need answers, and I need them now. If it has some way to just snap into sleep like that… I want to know why, and I want to know if we can utilise it.”

The thing with Helix, Layna had come to learn, was that when he said ‘we’, he never meant himself. Sure, he did the paperwork, but it was rare to see him himself in tests anymore unless he felt he was the only one capable, or it was a test subject he was particularly interested in.

Either way, she found he’d refuse involvement with younger test subjects. Which didn’t seem to stop him when she and her siblings were younger, but alas…

“With all due respect, Doctor, we should probably consult Administration first” Layna cut in. “We really shouldn’t be running any sort of tests until we have their absolute approval.”

As much as Helix wanted to snap at her, she had a point. It would be a stupid idea to just go in and do whatever without authorisation. He’d tried that before, he wasn’t making the same mistake.

“..Right” He sighed, then turned to the younger researcher once more. “Keep an eye on that thing. If it does any shit while I’m gone, do not engage.”

“But sir-“

“There’s no buts here, damn it! Do not engage it at any point until we have greenlit testing approval, is that clear?”

A solemn nod. Helix grunted, and then made his leave. He fucking hated these meetings, but authority was authority, and he knew they were watching him.

To quickly note, I received this for free from Wishtrend for my honest review.

The UV protector comes in a plastic squeeze bottle like normal and contains 50 ml (1.69 oz) and is fragrance-free.

The product is very easy to dispense and it's very convenient.

The sunblock is not watery or anything, but it's pretty lightweight.

The sunblock does blend out a fair amount but is still fairly streaky. This, while somewhat frustrating, is a sign of an effective sunblock as it does leave somewhat of a layer and doesn't just absorb in like a moisturizer.

It's not the most moisturizing, but it does have some chalkiness to it.

The layer is a little bit visible and so I do think this will flash back if you're using flash photography.

Recommended use is to dispense an adequate amount of the SPF on areas such as the face, neck, arms, and hand during your last step of skincare. Apply as often as necessary in order to maintain sun protection. Suitable for daily use and meant for dry to normal skin. This sunblock is cruelty-free, pH balanced, and free of artificial coloring, fragrances, and ethanol. It’s also vegan-friendly. While designed for dry to normal skin, this one may be ideal for oily to combination skin. This is a physical sunscreen that's hypoallergenic and is a non-chemical filter. After using, while I don't typically notice physical sunscreens very often if they are pretty moisturizing, this formula is a little drier and does take some time to absorb into the skin and look less dry. After it does absorb, my skin looked very radiant and bright, but it's very apparent I'm wearing sunblock after application. It has a typical sunscreen scent and a chalkiness to it. So it does have some streaking that does take some time to blend in. The ingredients are quite nice with the exception of one irritant. I didn't notice any irritation on my skin as a result of using this, however, it does ball up on the skin, so in my opinion, this may not be the best to wear under makeup as it may cause makeup to ball up. I do think this would be best for lighter skin as it's less obvious and has less of a cast on it. I do find it long-wearing and very effective but I'd recommend this to people with oily and combination skin as I really don't think it's the best fit for dry skin.

What I like: once it really melts into the skin, it really does leave the skin looking hydrated and it really lasts a long time and is easy to reapply. What I don't like: it's harder to blend in and is kind of chalky and streaky. It really isn't the best for my skin type personally but I can see this working on oily skin. It has a pretty obvious cast on it and I think this would be hard to hide if you have darker skin. It also balls up and so it may not be the best base for makeup.

education: she finished high school early at 16, and then she did two years at university before she was expelled. one of her professors was an asshole and purposely graded minority students unfairly so she hacked into the university's system and got caught changing grades for some of her classmates. six months later. no charges were pressed and as far as the school knew she only changed one set of test results but she was expelled with a blemish on her record.

literacy:  well-read but scatterbrained. 

languages:  she's multilingual and speaks english, spanish, mandarin, french, and arabic fluently. she has a pretty good handle on japanese and is working on learning portuguese. she has a special interest in languages and has worked with companies internationally to beef up their security systems so understanding languages is a vital part of her job. 

disorders:  tw: depression / mental health / eating disorders. no details just diagnosis.  diagnosed with major depressive disorder as a teenager, currently medicated. in bullimia recovery.

- for most of her life she was an only child. her younger sister amaia is 11 years younger than her and just turned 10. this makes lucía feel like she's crumbling into dust because she remembers holding that little baby but she does really love them! her sister is experimenting with their gender identity and uses she/they pronouns.  apparently the rosas romero's are completely incapable of producing cis het children which makes lu joyful. 

tw: mental health / adhd

- she always struggled with school but in the way that most extroverted kids do.  she talked too much, was often called a distraction to her peers, and would be forced to sit in the corner by herself because of it.  she was smart so no testing was ever really done but there's a very good chance that if she had, she'd fall somewhere on the ADHD spectrum.  as an adult, she's not big on labels so pursuing any kind of diagnosis isn't of any interest to her. 

- she identifies as bisexual but has only ever had romantic relationships with women. as a rule however, she doesn't pursue relationships and isn't very big on commitment.  she is more of a one night / when i'm in the area stands and casual flings. if she did more than just casual flings, she would probably identify as ethically non-monogamous but y’know. she doesn’t. 

- she's close with her family for the most part. there was a period where things were a little tense with her parents as she was growing up but that was more out of ignorance than actual contempt. they all get on perfectly fine now and she's eternally grateful at how supportive they've been both financially when she was younger and emotionally now. 

- she started hacking at a young age. it started out with little things, poking holes in the security firewalls at school so she could play games on the school tablets. a girl had to keep up with her neopets after all. as a teenager she used it as escapism, targeting systems and companies who were anti-lgbt and crashing their servers or signing their CEOs up for crazy mailing lists. nobody ever really suffered from what she was doing so no harm no foul, right? 

- after 2 years of university were basically flushed down the drain, she knew she was going to be in trouble if she couldn't figure out what her next steps were. it was definitely a risky move, hacking a private security firm and pointing out all of their weaknesses in hopes that they'd hire her but it worked.  once her foot was in the door, her work could speak for itself and her work is flexible, allowing her to work from wherever as long as she has an internet connection and can set up her laptop / drives. she's worked from many a coffee shop, or airport, but she mostly only works during the summer, or on breaks from school, as being a student takes up the majority of her time otherwise. 

- she didn’t know anything about being a cambion, or about the supernatural, until she was 18 years old and her abilities were triggered. it was then that she found out — surprise, her dad? who had always been a little... odd, but she figured that was just him being eccentric, was actually a demon. he sat her down and told her everything, even told her there was a school she could go to to learn to control her powers. it was only when she arrived at the school that she found out she had a sibling. turns out her dad had a whole second family he just neglected to mention. i’ll leave that plot kind of vague for right now in case someone picks up that connection but that’s going to/has rocked her world pretty significantly.

- though she’s flighty, the kind of person who spends every single cent they have on travel, or impulse buys, she’s very dedicated to her studies. being the best is very important and it’s a matter of pride, really. becoming a regent was just part of the whole overachiever thing. does she enjoy the paperwork? or the busywork that comes with it? no... but she does love a title. there’s also a part of her that always feels like she’s playing catch up, having not known about any of this until she was 18.
