TS-0026, confined to a glass tank filled with water and whatever else the containment team’d had the mercy of providing, surrounded by researchers in white coats and black button ups.

It was a particularly chilling sight to Helix, for whatever reason. More so than the others. Hell, they were only.. what, 17? It felt wrong, in every sense of the word. But he was tied down to this job. He had no other option.

The ginger sighed, and proceeded forward into the surrounding chamber, Layna, his assistant snd secretary, following close. “Does this thing ever sleep?” Helix remarked, more to himself than anybody else, but he wouldn’t mind an answer either.

“Apparently” A nearby researcher responded, Helix’s keen eyes darting over to the speaker. “It just finds a spot, gets comfy, and falls asleep right on the spot, straight into deep stage sleep.”

“…Huh.” Helix murmured, eyes drifting back to the tank. Straight into deep stage? How… weird. “Do we know how it does that?”

“Not a clue” Another passing researcher replied. “It’s harder to run tests on.. well, a merman, considering half our staff don’t know how to swim, and it’s generally quite hard to run exams under water.”

Ah, of course. Helix didn’t know why he hadn’t considered this earlier. He barely knew how the containment team had secured the subject in the first place. It would’ve been a feat in of itself. Actually trying to run tests on it was going to be a whole marathon.

“Well, find a way” He snapped after a moment. “I need answers, and I need them now. If it has some way to just snap into sleep like that… I want to know why, and I want to know if we can utilise it.”

The thing with Helix, Layna had come to learn, was that when he said ‘we’, he never meant himself. Sure, he did the paperwork, but it was rare to see him himself in tests anymore unless he felt he was the only one capable, or it was a test subject he was particularly interested in.

Either way, she found he’d refuse involvement with younger test subjects. Which didn’t seem to stop him when she and her siblings were younger, but alas…

“With all due respect, Doctor, we should probably consult Administration first” Layna cut in. “We really shouldn’t be running any sort of tests until we have their absolute approval.”

As much as Helix wanted to snap at her, she had a point. It would be a stupid idea to just go in and do whatever without authorisation. He’d tried that before, he wasn’t making the same mistake.

“..Right” He sighed, then turned to the younger researcher once more. “Keep an eye on that thing. If it does any shit while I’m gone, do not engage.”

“But sir-“

“There’s no buts here, damn it! Do not engage it at any point until we have greenlit testing approval, is that clear?”

A solemn nod. Helix grunted, and then made his leave. He fucking hated these meetings, but authority was authority, and he knew they were watching him.

Author’s note: Very vaguely inspired by Something to Hide by grandson? I dunno I got bored. It was originally meant to be poetry but I gave up. Uh- I also tried to organise them by age order! I eventually found the note that listed their ages so that’s cool.

His jaw is set and his word is final, yet his crown sits crooked on his head and there’s dark intentions that linger behind his eyes. Deceiving, vicious, cruel. He calls himself a ruler but he cowers behind his guards like a shield. If I were you, I wouldn’t consider even trusting him for or about anything.

Gentle voice and hands as soft as a Mother’s touch, she was a regalia of perfection and formality. A sweet bliss and an easy life. But if only people knew what she did once the curtains close. Oh, if only they knew.

A mess of bright green and inky black, limbs and eyes, things I can’t quite put the words to. A creature of Hell itself, sentient but terrifyingly savage. Misunderstood isn’t a label it falls under anymore, and in my honest opinion it never was in the first place.

A demon with a voice of gold and a tongue of silver. A frightening elegance and a distressing grace. It knows what it wants, and what it wants it gets. Unhindered, ethereal. Blood on it’s clawed hands and roses in it’s razor teeth. Charming and terrifying. It’s like there’s two personalities behind those glowing eyes that somehow work in harmony with each other.

Her retreat is sanitary halls, buzzing lights, whirring machinery and chemicals that probably weren’t verified by any branch of official. But her choice comes with a price. Isolation, a sense of guilt. A life of work and strain and fatigue and more work and more work and more work and-

Innocence and wide eyes, he sees the world like a small child. Colours and shapes and simplicity. A comfortable, easy lie. Sure, he has his moments, anybody at his age would, but his persistence breeds progress. He’s sort of like a puppy, really.

She’s just so… pure. And warm. She’s like a safe haven, a place to feel welcomed and protected and wanted. Hair like a cherry blossom and eyes like the sky they grow below. Her voice is soft, reassuring, and reminds me of a cup of hot chocolate after a long day.

A heavy blade but a heart of gold, he’s a picture of romance and charisma. Natural charm, sleek and beautiful. What else could you want from a man? He’s a sweetheart really, very kind hearted. If they could there’d be a whole lot of people bowing at his feet. Not that he’d ever want that flattery.

Everything just feels so new to him. He doesn’t quite understand anything that’s happening and he feels lost. He just wants guidance, someone to hear his desperate cries for help, but there’s always no response. There’s never anybody there to help him, to hold his hand and show him what to do. He’s scared, and he’s fully accepted it at this point.

Those that were forgotten? Or otherwise discarded? Oh, don’t you worry about them. I’m sure you’ll find them somewhere else. They’re around. Most of them at least.

Layna, do you regret agreeing to work for STS? what do you think of your job in general, along with Helix, Withera, etcetera etcetera?

Sometimes I regret it, I suppose? STS, as much as it is a place of trauma for me, has grown into almost a home for me. The pay’s pretty decent, they’ve let me start leaving at the end of my shift (although they do send an escort to make sure I return in the morning), they feed me, etc.

It’s a well to do job, just not what I planned to do with my life when I came up here. Plus, it also means being cut off entirely from my siblings, since not only am I separated from any that are still here, they’ve formed a deep hatred for me for working under Helix.

Withera is.. shady. Sure, she’s nice and all, but something about her feels really fake and it’s throwing me off.

Helix, on the other hand, I hate to death. Sure, he’s my supervisor, but he doesn’t quite understand boundaries, nor is he a very moral person at all. Working under him is a living hell, but I can’t really complain because I fear what he’ll - and the others - do to me if I do so.

The rest of the staff (at least the majority) aren’t actually too bad. Some people are here for the pay, others are here to actually follow STS’s intention, others have their own reasons as to why they’re here. Some of them can be dicks at times because I’m “different”, but they’re the same ones that are dicks to everyone else as well.

“Layna. Oh, Layna. You seriously thought people would care about that?” Helix said mockingly. “You might be one of us now, but you’re still a monster. Don’t expect human decency.”

In hindsight, Layna probably should have seen this coming.

Helix wasn’t a sympathetic man. She knew that. But it didn’t mean it didn’t hurt any less that nobody remembered her birthday.

She felt lost. Ignored. Unwanted. It was this way every year, she should’ve been used to it by now. She should’ve. But she wasn’t. She just wanted someone to care.

“…Right, apologies” Layna sighed, turning back to her desk to continue the paperwork there.

She couldn’t help but wonder how Helodite was spending this date. They had the same birthdate, just a couple years apart. She had no doubt Helodite was having much more fun than her on the outside.

She sighed heavily. Would her efforts ever be appreciated? Would anyone ever care? Is it even worth the time?

Tycen - It really depends what the relationship is with him. He’s mainly considered a sweet talker to uh- most people (ESPECIALLY his victims), but he’ll shower his s/o with affection and gifts, he has a sort of neutral image among his employs, and he’s absolutely despised by his rivals.

Layna - Unless it’s one of her siblings who have all collectively agreed she’s a traitor for working for Helix, Layna is actually considered generally likeable. She’s brave and confident, and knows what she’s worth, without being egotistical about it. She’s kind to her friends and coworkers, and is always loyal to her s/o.

Tobiany - Absolutely not. Everybody fucking HATES this guy, mainly because he’s literally a tyrant. He’s controlling and demanding and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, even if it means putting those he cares about at harms way.

Collin - Most people that know what he’s about find him annoying. But if you’ve never met him before, he’ll come off as sweet, silver tongued, and generally very persuasive, and he absolutely loved to spoil his s/o. So it’s really quite mixed depending on who the person is to him.

Sora’s crucifix was surgically sealed into Sora’s chest, but at the same time, he has zero clue it’s even there. He’s like 100% sure it’s a problem with one of the eyes. Helix knows it’s there though.

Malthine doesn’t really have one, but it’s mainly because Tobiany hasn’t organised it yet, since he’s not 100% sure what exactly his powers do, or if he even has any.

Vanté!

Vanté’s is stitched into the back of his neck, since Tobiany believes it’s the most effective point for him to put it, despite the fact it would work pretty much everywhere.

However, when he uses any large scale power, it causes him immense pain due to the spot it’s in, and is as good as paralysed for about 10 minutes, since any movement makes it worse.

Layna used to have a crucifix choker that was “enchanted” (or more, cursed) by Tobiany, and stitched into her throat, but was removed after her employment at STS by the research team. However, she still refrains from using her powers anyway out if an instinctive fear.

Ryn doesn’t even have one!! Tobiany believed his powers were too weak for him to do too much damage, so Ryn isn’t restrained. He just chooses not to use them unless necessary.

Helodite’s is tattooed onto her back, which uh. Don’t ask me how it works. For i do not know. I think it’d just look cute.

Since Chris isn’t Hellborn, Tobiany has no authority to fuse Chris with a crucifix in any way, and therefore, he does not have one. Which isn’t too had considering he doesn’t have many powers other than soul reaping, which is exclusively for his job.

Perseus!

Never reached an appropriate age for him to be fused with one, and therefore does not have one either, despite his possession of powers. Tobiany believed he wasn’t old enough to develop powers, however, they are born with them, just unsure how to use them until later in life.

-Vanté is fucking in love with Black Russians, which is, as far as what my Dad told me (he works at a fine dining restaurant so i’m just gonna trust that’s what it’s called), a mix of vodka and coffee liqueur

-Ryn doesn’t really drink, maybe or maybe not be actually just waiting for someone to take him drinking

-Layna kinda can only grab whatever’s closest because she can’t be fucked, but usually ends up subconsciously favouring whiskey and cola

-Helodite fucking loves French martinis. No comment needed.

-Chris doesn’t really know what he’s doing and usually just takes whatever other people recommend or give to him (yes he’s been drugged quite a few times (more times than he’d like to admit))

-Sora’s in fucking love with blue margaritas simply because they look cool. Don’t blame him either

0001 - Vanté Ramirez (Pansexual, Panromantic)

-Will literally touch you like you’re fragile

-He is so, so gentle

-The way he holds you, the way he picks you up, everything, so careful, so soft

-If he’s had a long day at work and doesn’t feel in the mood he’ll instead come and find you when he gets home

-If you happen to be standing up he’ll hug you from behind and tuck his head into your neck

-Not as classy as his older brother. Life with Ryn is much softer, calmer lifestyle

-Definitely will cuddle and have hot chocolate with you by the fire during winter

-He’s an absolute sucker for braids or buns. He just melts

-Has many insecurities and problems, but you make it a little easier for her to handle

-If you’re lucky, she may get comfy enough with you to start wearing skirts

-Mainly loves maxi dresses. They’re flowy, she loves that

-If you’re lucky, you might see her dancing through the windows when you get home

-Probably wearing her favourite dress, spinning and almost falling over her own feet as she giggles at her own clumsiness

0004 - Layna (Unlabelled wlw, possibly lesbian (hers is also pretty short, she’s mainly just a fill in character))

-Working most of the time. She’s a researcher, so she’s very busy

-You’d think she wouldn’t want to work for the facility that she escaped from, but apparently not

-She’s a nerd. There’s not much I can say

-Reads a lot of non fiction. If you let her she’ll rant about things like biology or medicine or something like that

-Plays games now and again. She’s not the best at them of course, but she tries. She loves Minecraft though

-“What does this do?” “huh-? nO DON’T TOUCH THAT-“

-As smart as she is, she’s a virgin and doesn’t know much about sex at all, if anything. As such, she’s pretty mature

-Hardly even picks up on you trying to initiate anything, or even flirting for the sake of it

-Has a lot of money, of course, just doesn’t really know what to do with it, so she ends up being a Sugar Mommy minus the sexual compensation part

-Only really around at night tbh

-bitch Sora is literally an all knowing shapeshifting eldritch being

-He’s very affectionate. He’s a big boye, who wouldn’t want hugs from this guy (you know what they say about big feet 😏)

-Will spoil you like there’s no tomorrow

-Is also a wealthy guy, runs a big business

-Similar to Vanté tbh but still does crime

-Upper class just because of street rep

-Unhinged at times but he’s relatively easy to calm

-Possessive but in the best way

-Also takes you to fancy parties and stuff

-Only downside is he’s better with guns than words
