Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.

I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.

2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)

3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited

Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.

Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).

Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.

Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

Don't forget to not only recite prayers but also to be in God's presence everyday in our ordinary lives. We might be busy at work, but maybe once in a while when you get distracted or feel tired or frustrated you can stop for a second and call His name and say "I do it for You" or "I offer it up to You". And when good things happen just saying "thank you" works too. It's a way of sanctifying our jobs :)

hot take: a main reason why a lot of folks aren’t connecting with Bridgerton this season is because Penelope is a fat love interest and that makes them uncomfortable.

sure, there are plenty of elements to reasonably critique (the costumes aren’t period accurate, the writing a little soapy, etc.), but most have always been present to some degree in the show. by far the biggest change made this season is a fat woman being portrayed as desirable.

the public will twist themselves into knots in order to avoid addressing their unconscious fatphobia. Penelope being lusted after, coveted, pleasured — it’s the first time (to my knowledge) that a fat woman has been so visibly and respectfully sexualized on such a large platform.

it is genuinely *shocking* to a lot of people, but instead of turning those feelings inward and unpacking their discomfort, folks are seeking external validation and watching everything with a hyper critical eye. honestly, sucks for them because polin is hot!!!

There's No Such Thing in the World (As An Undo Button) by Zulu

Before there was omegaverse, there was mpreg, a trope where a male character finds themselves pregnant through whatever means, often with some hand-wavey fanfic magic. This chonky little quarto fic is rarepair mpreg crackfic for the early 2000's medical drama House MD, with the pairing of House/Foreman.

Here we have the copy I made @zulufic, and the one I made for myself, fraternal copies due to limited materials in the same pattern. (I did not think I'd ever find a use for the bits of baby quilt patterned fabric in the fabric scraps I got from a coworker a few years ago, but lo and behold...)

So, this started out as a Christmas present for @zulufic. Come time for the exchange of gifts, I presented her with... a textblock! I had the pages printed and sewn, but not cased in. Eventually, it gained a hardcover case and became a finished book, but circumstances lined up just right such that I would be seeing her in August and able to put the book in her hands right within a few days of Fanfic Writers' Appreciation Day, and participate in @renegadeguild's annual initiative to gift an author with their book for the day.

The lettering on the case is acrylic paint, applied with a Cricut-cut stencil. Hand-sewn endbands, decorated edges just for fun. One book has gelli-plate printed endpapers from my wife's art stash, the other has some Japanese paper of unknown provenance out of my paper stash.

This is the fic that sat on my to-bind list labelled "I like them all, she says unhelpfully," due to a stealth conversation with Zulu's wife to attempt to find her favourite fic. (The answer: whatever fic she's currently working on.) So I picked one I remember fondly from when it was first posted. Things that never made it into the author's notes and only obliquely into the AO3 tags: Zulu says this is actually an AU of the move Knocked Up.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and I'm glad I decided to do it as a half-sized quarto. A cute little chonk of a book for a cute (if delightfully cracktastic story! Happy Fanfic Writers' Appreciation Day, Zulu!

Your eyes crack open tiredly as a warm hand runs up and down your naked back lovingly. A small grin washes over your lips as you meet the eyes of your scarred, red-headed lover, and you can't help but groggily joke out,

“Take a picture, it'll last longer.”

Kid snickers, rolling his eyes as he leans down to lick a stripe up your cheek. You grimace and give a, “Eugh, Kid what the fuck?” as a chuckle reverberates in his chest. You lazily reach a hand out to slap against his chest when he suddenly bites down on your shoulder, clearly in a mood and you give a heavy sigh before crawling up his naked form and laying yourself across it.

“You're in a mood, ain’tcha?” You grumble, peppering a few kisses against his jawline as one of your hands runs through his messy locks. “You got me movin’ and everythin’, and I'm not even awake yet.”

Kid rumbles a sound of agreement in his chest, though he still doesn't say anything. His flesh hand runs up and down your back again as you curl into his arm a little more. After a few moments of silence, you lift your head up and ask, “What's going on?”

You're surprised when he looks off to the side sheepishly, an irritated grimace on his face as he finally gets out, “What would you want for your birthday, if you could have anything?”

You narrow your eyes at him, brows furrowed slightly as you ask, “Where's this coming from?” You idly remember Reck and UK asking you the same thing last night, but from how much they'd made you drink with them, you can barely remember what you'd answered with.

“I mean, I have everything I need-”

Kid cuts you off, “Nah, not something you need, something that you could have no matter the price, no matter how long it would take to get it, what would it be?”

He stares back down at you, your gaze switching from scarred eye to non, confusion rising in your chest as you asked, “Kid, where the fuck is this coming from? You're kinda worrying me.”

He narrows his own eyes at you in disbelief. “Worrying you? Why? I'm just fuckin’ curious, now fuckin’ tell me.” He digs his fingers into your side, pulling a surprised squawk from you and you retaliate by slapping his chest again, this time a little harder.

“I just-”

“Ah! Don't fuckin’ lie, just tell me what your heart says.”

You frown at him and bark out, “I already have everything I want, right fucking here!” You press your palms into his chest before sliding them up to his shoulders, giving him a slight shake as you continue, “This! You! Right here! This is what I want for my birthday!”

A wicked grin washed over his face as he practically purrs out, “My sweet Sugar, that's all I wanted to hear.” He pulls you into an almost demanding kiss as his hand slides down to your leg and pulls it up over his hips so your naked core is pressed against his erection.

You hum softly, grinding down on him slightly before you ask, “Why were you so adamant about hearing that?”

Kid nips at your bottom lip before murmuring genuinely, “UK asked you last night, and you said, “Kid is all I want. He's my present and it's a gift to wake up next to him every day.” I just… wanted to hear you say it to me.”

Your eyes watered slightly as a soft, “Aww…” rose from your lips only for Kid to roll his eyes with a huff and burning cheeks as he captured your lips again, murmuring against them, “You've got me, Shugs. You'll always have me, and you'll always be mine.”

Your heart feels like it could explode right then and there, and you can't help but stare up at him with loving eyes as you pull away enough to reply, “I love you, Eustass.”

Said redhead grins in response, nipping at your bottom lip before he whispers, “Love ya babe. Always.” He slides into you with a butterfly groan, your own moan echoing in harmony with his as he claims you once more. “Happy birthday, beautiful.”
