FaceTime Bug Present on Apple Devices

Greetings Everyone, 

Ah Apple! The company that prides itself on its friendly usability and of course on its security antics. As a company, Apple has performed very well in the security department generally experiencing very few flaws. 

Unfortunately for Apple however a major flaw has been discovered with its FaceTime application (sort of scary considering I use FaceTime a lot!). 

 According to an article for the NYTimes written by Brian Chen, “On Monday, Twitter and other social networking sites lit up with anxious Apple users after the news site 9to5Mac reported on a strange glitch in the company’s iPhones. The issue: It turns out that an iPhone user can call another iPhone user and listen in on that person’s conversations through the device’s microphone — even if the recipient does not answer the call.”

I don’t know about you but I know that I certainly do not want anyone eavesdropping in on what I am saying without my knowledge. Granted we should all be on our best behavior at all times it is still unnerving knowing that this excited and not knowing for how long it has been an issue. 

On an even odder turn of events, it appeared that the bug was discovered and reported to Apple almost immediately but Apple was not as quick to respond as they generally have been in the past in relation to major security issues. From other reading, it does appear however though that Apple has corrected this issue and we are all save to resume our normal operations of our beloved Apple products. 

Rest assured, Apple is still a tech giant that knows what they are doing and how to best protect its users. I know I am still confident in Apple products and I will continue to proudly show it.
