Great news: I beat up an acephobe today and threw him in the gutter afterwards.
Bad news: I got fined for littering.

"asexual discourse" is so funny cause dude that's not discourse and it's never been discourse. it's not an argument and it's not a conversation bitches are just yelling at us unprompted and then making up people to get mad at 😭

Few things get me madder than "Progressive Leftists" fighting tooth and nail to argue that aro-spec and ace-spec identities are Problematic and Ableist in and of themselves because they shit their pants at the mere sight of someone headcanoning a character as aro/ace-spec, seemingly going against whatever the sacred ship of the week is
And I mean, some people straight up like they're martyrs for shipping in a world where the dirty aros and aces can get their grubby hands on their blorbo bingos
Will never forgive so much of fandom for being openly aphobic while trying to paint it in a progressive light by saying "this character is autistic coded/disabled in canon so actually saying they're aro or ace is infantilizing and deeply damaging to these real life communities" as if neurodivergent and diabled aros and aces don't exist, and CLEARLY saying that they don't view these as legitimate orientations themselves because they can only conceive of being aro and ace as a trait as "infantilizing" or "de-sexualizing" in and of itself

The way some of you talk about being mistaken as aro/ace makes you sound really aphobic btw.

can i be a hater for a second. finding good naruto analysis is so HARD because most of analysis either tends to ignore the thematic messages the narrative is based around or blindly accept the thematic messages the narrative is based around. the narrative is a part of the text, and you can't just throw it to the side, but the narrative isn't absolute, and a lot of the things the narrative believes are outright wrong. you shouldn't believe the narrative when it tells you that men are better than women, but disregarding the fact that the narrative does think that men are better than women will lead to inaccurate analysis. there is a space between word of god and death of the author, you know, and that's where good analysis sits. i'm not saying that people can't draw conclusions that kishimoto obviously didn't intend to convey- i'm just saying that you need to understand that backing stuff up with the text means reckoning with the fact that the text has incredibly conservative views.

Thinking about JKR and her aphobic tweets this morning like
I don’t expect better from Queen TERF or anything so it’s not that this is surprising but I DO expect better from other LGBTQ+ people. And we don’t get better from a lot of other LGBTQ+ people.
It is exhausting to constantly have to defend yourself as an asexual person. “How are you oppressed just because you don’t want to have sex” well you see our society operates on the fundamental assumption that everyone wants to have sex. Our systems are constructed around the concept of a household being baseline 2 people, which also adds marriage into the equation. So this is, baseline, incredibly alienating if you have no desire for either of those things.
And even for asexuals that DO have sex, being asexual (and also aromantic, though I’m mostly talking about asexuality right now) fundamentally alters your perception of the world. We literally do not experience the world in the same way as a cishet person. And this “you’re not oppressed and no one cares” attitude basically says to asexual people: Shut up. We don’t care about your perspective so just sit down and shut up.
How is that not oppressive? How is it not marginalizing to tell an entire group of people that their lived experience doesn’t matter?
And I know we have a lot bigger, more prominent issues right now. I am in no way saying that asexuals experience the same level of vitriol and marginalization as like. Trans people. And we need to stand up and defend our trans siblings whenever possible, because community is what should be important!
But damn it is HARD when no one wants to be in community with you because your issues “aren’t big enough” because “no one cares if you don’t want sex.” Because it’s not just the fact of having sex or not. It’s not just the lack of attraction. It’s how you move in the world. It’s the assumptions people make about you (you’re frigid, you’re a robot, you can’t experience emotions). It’s the way you view relationships with other people (the separation of romance, sexuality, emotional intimacy). Asexuality is an experience fundamentally different from the Assumed Normal of cissexual heterosexuality (and that’s without getting into overlapping queer identities like trans asexuals).
So stop shoving us back into the closet and telling us to shut up. We’re not made of the cishet mold and it’s about time people accepted it.
(Also call your representatives, fight back against anti-trans legislation, stand up for your trans friends, classmates, coworkers, and neighbors. Trans rights are human rights and are core to the rights of bodily autonomy!!)

every time i see a post that is like "ughh why cant we have aspec characters who aren't aroace for once" I have to do a double take like "is the aroace rep in the room with us right now?" because genuinely....where is all this aroace rep y'all are complaining about? Why cant i find it yet it's apparently the only aspec rep we get?? You admit that TV never says the word aromantic so where is the aroace rep. So far I've pretty much only seen canonically asexual characters and not much else buddy.
#text#half the time i think these ppl see other aspec ppl saying that x character feels aroace and then they take it as canon rep#instead of an interpretation of the character which likely was never meant to be written as aspec at all#because majority of people don't even know what that is#this isn't me saying that we shouldn't have aroallo or alloace rep btw#this is me complaining about people throwing aroace ppl under the bus because apparently we are 'hogging' all the representation in media#and it just reads as people being aphobic towards aroace people specifically and it drives me insane#you can ask for more aroallo and alloace characters without complaining and shitting on aroace characters????#like bro we are all on the same fucking team. we are all trying to get seen and understood. we all want to see ourselves in media#stop fighting like one of us is somehow way more privileged than the other because 'you have x rep'#we all have crumbs my guy. just because someone else is getting crumbs doesn't mean that its your crumbs being taken.#idk i see so many posts like this and it makes me feel so unwelcome in the aro and ace communities#im tired of aroace people being used as a scapegoat that you can target to pretend like you're punching up#when in reality you're just committing friendly fire against people who are on your team#i miss when the aro and ace communities used to like... work together as a big aspec community#now ppl r way too focused on separating them and acting like they have nothing in common and don't have the same goals#and both communities now tend to put a lot of blame onto aroace people because of stereotypes we never had control over in the first place#it's exhausting#like the aphobia is coming from inside the house#i didn't go through the ace discourse on tumblr to deal with this shit.

Being ace has never been a question for me. I didn’t get the maybe I’m wrong feeling that a lot of people seem to. 15!year old me saw my friend gushing about her new crush went well that looks exhausting and anoying. How bout I just don’t :/ and then I didn’t! Nearly 20 years later and I’m still very firmly ace lol. Never had a single doubt about it
