Long distance lovers </3
I can't help myself with these two, I often find myself thinking about them. I think there are just so much that can be explored with their relationship. I imagine them being quite similar, being quite avid users of media they probably share the same humour (kinda like me and my bf, although we are from complete opposite parts of Europe lol)
Also, I imagine they don't face too much culture differences between eachother, seeing as Hong lived sometime with England, also by being cronically online... However!! Just imagine the family gatherings between China, Taiwan, Macau (maybe some other asian countries like Korea and Japan?) and the Nordics. Pure chaos and fun haha
,, Anyway, thanks for listening to an old lady's ramblings... Hope you enjoy this little drawing
Sidenote! If you want the lineart file to colour this piece for yourself hmu and I'll send it to you, I was struggeling so much and I wonder what other people would do

Happy Lunar New Year 2024!
新年快乐 2024!
Hi, dudes! It's me again.
While I was drawing this, my felt to got ideas block and exhausted very much to I will paint it with watercolor. Thus, I painted it with ink pens instead.
For Tibet fan art, I got reference from my oracle card in Tibetan culture theme as this:
Tumblr media
And I will tell fun fact a few things about beliefs in Lunar New Year.
Don't cleaning in house, apartment, or accomodations in evening until to night on normal days or during celebration in new year and any festival that is not only belief in China, Japan, Vietnam, Korea. Thailand and India are believing this too. Because in the past, it was not existed to use electric in night. It makes you throw something is value this such as jewelry, gold or silver accessories, or coins. And also, many ppl always clean their house or accomodations in festival eve day or after festival day. Because nobody else do it while you are enjoying to celebrating in during day, right? They are feeling that too. LOL.
For Japanese Lunar New Year (Japanese is called "Shougatsu" 「正月: しょうがつ。: Shōgatsu」) , in the past. They were celebrating in lunar calendar in every year, but the after in 1873 AC. They are celebrating on 1st January in every year. Thus, Celebrating Japanese lunar new year in Japan which is celebrating new year of many countries too.
For Thai ppl who are not Thai-Chinese or Chinese in Thailand, they are can enjoy with this festival too. Because some Thai culture and Chinese culture are seeming similar such as praying for ancestors, respectful with family or someone who are seniors, and beliefs about position their house or accommodation. And also, Thai ppl are always be enjoy with festival which popular from other countries such as Christmas, Halloween, Lunar new year, Celebrating moon cake, or Navratri. Unless, some festival which restricted for Islamic, Christian, or some ppl who are minority in Thailand that mainly ppl or normal ppl cannot to be enjoying for celebrating with their festival too.
And I don't have any ideas unless I will say to you word that is I am always heard many ppl who are Thai-Chinese and Chinese in Thailand are said that
“新正如意,新年发財!” ❤️

Songs that remind me of aph Mongolia/some aph Mongolia ships? (I'm sorry a few of these are English goth rock bands I can't help that I'm an edgelord)
Cities in dust - Siouxsie and the banshees. God I love this song. Its originally about Pompeii but I can see the lyrics relating to him and his past.
Something Wrong - Clan of Xymox. I can see this song being from from his POV towards another nation, idk if I should disclose what nation though as I don't want to come off insensitive but I do have my reasoning behind it. If you really want to know you can PM me! It's quite a bitter/angry song.
Driven like the snow - Sisters of Mercy. This song is super serious and idk why, I feel like that song would be his vibe during the cold war era?
Same deep water as you - The Cure. The lyrics are quite sad and the whole sound is sad. Again I can see this song being from his POV towards another nation/nation being thing. It's actually more than one nation. I'm not going to elaborate on why but the nations being: Tibet, N Korea, Inner Mongolia? I'm not sure if I personally headcanon inner Mongolia being a nation-being-thing yet. Must educate myself more.. I think I lean more towards yes though.
I have slept with all the girls in Berlin - Sisters of Mercy. Yeah I headcanon during his empire era he was kind of a manwhore so this is self explanatory. Of course he didn't sleep with girls from Berlin but you know there was a lot of people who entertained him (of all genders).
Nevernaya zhena - Fleur. This is a Russian song and for some reason its hard to find these days?? The song is about an unfaithful wife but the lyrics are like. The embodiment of a complicated, painful, toxic and secretive relationship. Unfortunately Monchu is a guilty pleasure of mine (sorry y'all) and yeah any toxic song I can come across like this reminds me of them.
Someone to spend time with - Los retros. Umm this is my tibmongol or Tibet x Mongolia song!! Just a sweet song about missing each other and wanting to spend more time together :)
She sells sanctuary - The cult. I don't know why but for some reason this song reminds me of like the Turkey x Mongolia ship. Maybe because the song just sounds so like happy and carefree and idk kind of like the shared history they had together when they were younger.
There are a lot of Mongolian songs I like but unfortunately I cannot find the English lyrics for all of them. I'm listing some of these off of the vibes they give me. Some modern, some traditional.
Novshroo - Starfish. Sounds like a chill af song makes me think of him just laying down in the steppe somewhere as the sun sets.
A sound - unexpected answer. Again, cannot find the English lyrics :( but its such a nice soft song, def another chill song for him.
LSB - Starfish. Can't find English lyrics :( but yes some nice chill and laidback songs after all of the edgy goth rock I've subjected you all to.
Tsaag agaar - The lemons. Very upbeat song!! This is a summer song for him :3
Altargana - Khusugtun. This song is very beautiful and an altargana is a steppe flower that survives very harsh conditions. Reminds me of his resilience? Also yes I am aware that this is a buryat song. I'm not sure if I characterise aph Mongolia as representing only the Khalkha majority and there are other personifications of different Mongol groups, or if he remains representing the Khalkha majority and a little bit of the different Mongolic ethnic groups? I've read a lot of things from Khalkhas and Buryats/different Mongol ethnic groups online so I'm not too sure... Should educate myself more on this topic..
Govi Nutag - Domog. Based. That's all I have to say.
Khoyor Ntugiin Erkh - Khusugtun. This song is mainly instruments/the morin khuur but wowow its so beautiful. There is part of the song with throat singing though!! It starts from 3:30 minutes and holy shit the sygyt is phenomenal!

What are your favourite kinds of Japan content? Or alternatively, what are your least favourites?
I'm a huge aph Japan fan, and I'm always curious abt this stuff.
Hmmm, well honestly I could talk all day about this topic LMAO but for your sake and mine I'll keep it brief and focus mostly on two especially grating depictions i dislike. I have some posts queued up down the line for how i tend to see japan so feel free to ask me about that when i get around to posting it ehehe
"Polite, cute, shy, quiet" japan depictions reallllly don't work for me. Like it's one thing to say that Japan is a reserved guy who puts value in having good manners and doesn't want to come across as rude, but it's another to turn him into a wilting flower who's easily dominated by louder personalities and turns into a side character. Besides it falling into ur typical trope of the "diminutive east asian who needs to be taught by their loud non easian (usually white) partner how to stand up for themself and live life a little," I think it's just patently false, both canonically and historically lmao. Like hima has called Japan a stubborn old man before, and history will tell you that Japan is nothing if not resourceful and very very proud, lol. He may bite his tongue, but I imagine that hes not someone who easily gives up or submits or at least without a fight 😂
Germany-Italy-Japan trio, or "Axis" trio, depictions never go over well for me, lol. I'm of the mindset that you can't really divorce them from their history in WW2, especially if you're going to call them the Axis, like lol the least you could do is call them something new. Furthermore, Geritapan depictions in my opinion are terrible with tokenizing japan as the sole character of color/east asian in the group, but the Worst Geritapan Depictions as of late are shipping gerita with japan off in the cuck chair?? I'm not saying we need to give Japan bitches (because lord knows he doesn't deserve any) but wow, congrats, you made your only East Asian man an emasculated yellow guy who just pines and copes over a white love interest who dgaf about him <3 a win for diversity!!!
Tumblr media
anyways, if you're going to ship gerita but treat japan like this, i would rather you ship germany and italy together like a normal person and leave japan out of it 🙏

for @hwsasiaweek day 2: uzbekistan + food + "a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor"
in which uzbekistan can't let go of her qazon and explains why
‎‧₊˚✧[🇰🇿🇺🇿🇰🇬]✧˚₊‧
It was a Thursday afternoon, and all of Uzbekistan's siblings were staying at her house for a week in preparation for a regional conference.
While they were all in separate rooms of the house working on writing up important documents and presentations, Uzbekistan was cooking food for the evening, and as per tradition she was cooking osh. It was also her siblings' favorite food, and they insisted she cook it for them almost every time they got together.
As she was stirring the beef and onions, Kazakhstan came out of her study, sniffing around.
"Apa, are you making osh for tonight?"
"Yes. it is a Thursday, after all! Also if you guys eat enough of my food, perhaps you won't all be so grumpy at the conference."
"Speak for yourself," he chuckled. There was always some argument that would arise at one of these conferences, and many times Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan would be part of it.
Before she could respond with some lackluster excuse of those conflicts being in the moment and that it wasn't truly her and that she was definitely a mature lady and how he could say that to his dear older sister who is cooking food just for him, he points at the qazon she was cooking the osh in. the bottom was completely black after years of use.
"Hey, how long has it been since you've used this qazon?"
"Oh, um...I bought it at a market sometime around the 60s?"
"Apa, that's like 50 years!"
"Well, it's durable! Like the spatula I'm using to cook it with."
"But if you bought new ones...wouldn't it enhance the quality of your meals? New cooking technology and all..."
She gently added the chopped carrots to the qazon. "You know, a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor. You could buy all the latest utensils and completely revamp your kitchen, but!" She gestured at her hands. "It's all about your experience. Your skill. That's why you all love my food the most!"
"I don't know..." Kyrgyzstan stood on his tiptoes and looked over Kazakhstan's shoulder." Tajikistan was gushing about my dymdama last time. Her side of the plate was so clean, I think she used bread to wipe the leftover broth up."
"Why must you always make this about you? She was extremely hungry that time! Besides, that was then, and this is now." She closed her eyes briefly and tossed the carrots over.
The two spent the rest of the time bickering about the "deliciousness scores" that they had apparently been tallying up so far based on their other siblings' opinions of their food, while Kazakhstan tried his best to mediate.
Good practice for the actual conference I guess, he thought, though they've done this enough times I don't think I really need practice...
"If we're gonna talk about revamping your cooking, why don't you use a frypan next time? Your boyfriend already does that when he cooks osh-"
"HE DARE COMMIT SUCH BLASPHEMY?"
"Hey chill! You better keep that a secret cuz he told me to keep it a secret from you!"
Kazakhstan had to admit, she was pretty skilled at cooking. He could see it in the way she both argued passionately with their older brother and added the chickpeas and rice to the osh, never missing a step. Heck, she even managed to make some salad on the side as well.
And when the sky became a light purple and the crickets began to chirp, the evening wind brushing through their hair as they ate outside on the tapchan, Uzbekistan brought the hot, aromatic osh to the table to eat. Everyone cleared the plate within half an hour. She smiled smugly at Kyrgyzstan.
"That's 25 points for me since today, and you're still at 22~"
"I'M CATCHING UP, OKAY?!"
‎‧₊˚✧[🇰🇿🇺🇿🇰🇬]✧˚₊‧
notes: ALHAMDULILAH I MADE IT IN TIME ITS STILL 11:57 PM 💪💪💪
there's a lot of uzbek/central asian terminology here, and they're italicized:
osh: otherwise known as plov, it's uzbekistan's national food. it's a sort of fried? rice with carrots, meat, chickpeas, and raisins. each region in uzbekistan cooks it differently, but I tried my best to describe whatever I can remember from my mom's way. it's served to guests at home, weddings, and also eaten on the regular weekly, with osh being eaten on thursdays as a traditional custom.
qazon: the best way I can describe this in english is a cast iron cauldron. it's quite big and a lot of things can be cooked in it, like osh, qazon kabob, and dymdama.
Tumblr media
apa: kazakh for "older sister."
dymdama: eaten in many central asian countries, it's a stew of beef, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, and other vegetables. in uzbekistan, it's called dimlama, and I only recently found out it's called dymdama in kyrgyzstan by a kyrgyz classmate!
tapchan: in a lot of uzbek houses with backyards, there's a small resting area with cushions and a table outside. in the spring and summer, families usually eat their breakfast, lunch, and dinner outside.

China: My beautiful son, I would cross oceans and move mountains for you. I would fly into the darkness if I knew it would make you happy.
Hong Kong: Okay, but can I have a Dorito?
China: I'm sorry but these are, unfortunately, my Doritos.
