੭﹕ ̊ ̟ ꒷꒦ Akane Aoi 🦢⋆｡𖦹꒷꒦

Aoi was turned sometime around the Meiji period, just before her sixteenth birthday. She came from a rather traditionalist family, which held steadfast to strict gender roles and old-fashioned ideals despite the world changing around them. (I can't give the rest of her backstory away, or else it'd spoil) For reasons unknown as of now, she's stranded in the forest by herself. She's jumpy, afraid, and most of all, hungry. It's difficult to hunt by yourself, after all. She's beginning to regret that decision she made about a hundred years ago. She can't remember the exact number of years at this point.

੭﹕ ̊ ̟ ꒷꒦ Yashiro Nene 🦢⋆｡𖦹꒷꒦

Nene attends Kamome Academy, an elite boarding school where she has been unable to make any friends her age. She has a sort of complex about being worthy of going there in the first place. Her upperclassman and roommate, Minami, often lets Nene hang out with her and her friend (girlfriend?) Himari, since she wants to inspire Nene to open up and make friends. Nene ends up getting lost in the forest that lies behind the school gates with a broken flashlight and dead phone. All she can do now is hope that the supposed monster that lies at the heart of the forest doesn't consume her.

੭﹕ ̊ ̟ ꒷꒦ Aoi Akane 🦢⋆｡𖦹꒷꒦

Akane is from the meiji period as well, though he rose from the dead in an entirely different way. (I can't say what he is because it would spoil it too, but dw terukane is coming in 1 sec) He's constantly harassed by an exorcist named Teru, who plans to eliminate him. Akane struggles to remember how he died, so he's unable to recall his unfinished business/reason for being resurrected. Teru begrudgingly decides to help him figure out how he died, just so he can get rid of him. No other reason.

Mitsukou is a part of this universe, too !! Kou is still an exorcist who wishes to follow in Teru's footsteps. But, instead, Sousuke is a vampire sired by Tsukasa, who has lost all recollection of his past. Kou isn't quite sure what to do about a vampire ... but he seems harmless, so maybe all he needs is a friend?

I know I might've been a bit vague, but I actually have some writing drabbles/oneshots. Maybe a series planned for this? So far, I mostly have the aoinene storyline planned out, but if things go well, I'll write the terukane and mitsukou ones as well !! I've just been making a bunch of aus to try and nail the characters down since it's a good way for me to try and define their traits.

This came as a surprise to even him, based on the efforts he’d gone through to win his lifelong crush’s heart, but maybe that was exactly why he was so incompetent when it came to dating; he’d never imagined such a scenario with anyone else.

It was a miracle that Nene had decided to put up with him for so long. Forgetting dates, never posting her on social media, sparse compliments even when he noticed she’d dressed up that day… The excuse of being caught up with college life could only go so far.

Every time he’d voice these concerns to Nene, she’d look at him and flash that captivatingly sweet smile of hers.

“But you still like me, right?”

“You’re awfully forgiving,” Akane grumbled, sinking his head into her shoulder on the couch of his apartment. “Wasn’t your teenage dream to have a devoted prince arrive at your humble abode and sweep you right off your feet?"

Her neutral expression morphed into a mock glare, a dust of pink highlighting her cheeks. Akane unapologetically stared out towards the blank TV in front of them, the corners of his lips rising into a smirk as Nene, once again, insisted that she’d matured and those dreams of hers were long gone.

“Even if they weren’t, you have me now,” Akane said. “No prince wants to commit adultery.”

Nene laughed as she pushed against Akane buoyantly. “See, you do know how to be romantic!”

Akane blushed as he stared down at the head of buttercream-coloured hair. She was satisfied with so little.

I'm writing an "everything's normal" zero escape au and its taking every fibre of my being to not revert to calling Light Snake because the codenames dont exist in this universe. I never call Akane June at least mentally so thats normal. Clover and Junpei are the other 2 main characters of this oneshot so I dont have to wrangle their names at all its just. Their Names. Aoi and Santa is kinda hard but easier for me to catch both because whenever Aoi is referenced it is specifically as Akanes brother so the alliteration keeps me there and becauze Aoi sounds like a normal name. “Y/n, can you please stay out of trouble for once?” Akane asked, gently wrapping your bruised arm. “You’re lucky Minamoto haven’t seen the trouble you caused today...” He murmured. 

Previously, you were in a fight with one student who messed with you. Akane passed by and saw the fight. He had stopped both of you before it could go worse. You were lucky that the President wasn’t the one who had found you or you might get expulsion. 

He sighed as there was no reaction came from you. You stared at the boy making him slightly uncomfortable. You looked away. “You didn’t have to intervene... He was talking shit about me, I couldn’t just ignore what he said about me.” 

“You could’ve told him to stop.” You shooked your head at his statement. “He won’t stop. He needed to be punished for what he said. Now he wasted my time.” You grumbled. 

After he was done taking care of your bruises, he took your hand and dragged you to the classroom. Before you could protest anything, He had cut you off. “We’re going to be late.” You looked at him in a 'Do-I-look-like-I-care?’ way.

You sat on your desk, looking through the window as Akane went to Aoi to compliment her like always.

As the class started, you didn’t bother to listen to the teacher as you only thought on planning what to do next in the school. But it got interrupted when the teacher noticed you not listening to the discussion.

“Miss L/n, can you please come to the front to answer the question?” You stood up with no protest. You have been advance studying yourself after school at home or at the library so you could at least have some knowledge inside your brain.

You took a chalk and wrote the answer with ease. You placed the chalk back to where you had found it then went back to your desk. “Good job, L/n. Now let’s learn-”

It was now break, so you stood up and left first. You went to the back of the school and took out your spray paint. Before you could even spray the dusty wall, a hand snatched your spray paint. 

“Hey that’s mine!” You shouted to the person. You turned around to see Teru behind you. “What are you using this for? Don’t you know this is against the rules? Come, we’ll go the principal’s office.” He smiled. You inaudibly sighed in defeat. This was the first time you have been caught.

You followed Teru to the principal’s office. Your shoulders slumped. You both passed Akane, Aoi and Yashiro. Aoi immediately noticed it and ask. “Hey, What’s wrong with Y/n-san? Are they in trouble?” She asked the other two. Akane immediately jogged towards Teru. Asking what had happened. 

“I found them at the back of the school starting to do graffiti on the wall.” He answered, giving him a sickenly sweet smile. When the three of you were infront of the room, Teru opened the door for you. You gave him a silent thanks and went inside. Teru also went inside and closed the door before Akane could join. Akane cursed to himself. He waited until both of you are outside the office. 

He couldn’t tell what were the principal, Teru and you were talking about. But when Teru and you left the room, Akane immediately asked Teru a question. You walked away to your next classroom since you didn’t want to be listening to the conversation.

“Is Y/n going to be suspended?” Akane asked. Teru nodded. “2 day suspension, as a warning. And an expulsion when they try to do it again.” Teru answered. Akane nodded and walked away. But before he was far enough from Teru, Teru asked a question.

“Is Y/n important to you?” He halted, ‘Is Y/n important to me.. Of course.’.

“Yes, they are.” He answered casually. “Then is it fine for me to steal them from you? They sure are quite beautiful/handsome.” He smiled, trying to irk the boy with glasses. 

“No.” Akane couldn’t help but feel jealously from the words the blonde boy had said. Teru smiled as he knew Akane had grown feelings from another person instead of Aoi. He nodded to Akane and left him. 

He stood there for awhile. He even didn’t notice that the bell had already rung and that people were already in their proper classrooms. He then snapped out of his thoughts when he finally noticed the lack of people in the halls. He ran to his classroom which was far from where he currently is. (Spoilers: He was scolded for being late.)

You were out of school for two days because of suspension. You used that time to study and go out every free moment you have.

Akane on the other hand felt a little lonely without you. He had visited you after school late because of work. He even once slept at your couch since he was too tired to go to his house.

After two days. You were now in school. You looked around to see no one except for the staff members around the school grounds.

You went to your locker then changed your shoes. You went to the classroom to sleep. You had nothing else to do today. No schemes since you were scolded by your parents.

Akane, Aoi, and Yashiro greeted and welcomed you back. You greeted them back, too idle on doing anything about their warm welcome.

During break, you went inside the auditorium since you had nothing to do. You went onto the stage as you hummed a music you liked. You looked at where the audience sits. You continued to hum the music while standing in the middle of the stage, where over you is a chandelier. 

Your voice was echoed on the room. Then you heard something. A crack. You looked up where you could see the heavy chandelier starting to wobble. You tried to run away but your feet was stuck to the ground. Your eyes couldn’t tear away from the almost falling chandelier. 

It became slow as the chandelier fell. It was time. Right? You closed your eyes, a tear left your eye. Then you somehow became unconscious. 

With Akane few seconds prior:

He was just walking to check the school grounds when he had heard humming coming from the auditorium. It was familiar. Then it adruptly stopped. Curious, he went inside to check. 

Once he opened the door, he saw the falling chandelier and you. In a flash, he stopped time, his appearance changing too. He ran to you. hugging your still body.

He remembered the chandelier stuck in mid-air and he had 2 minutes left so he carried you bridal style to the infirmary. He gently placed you down and covered you with a blanket. Akane took a wet cloth and placed it on your forehead. He patiently waited for you to wake up, not bothering on changing his clothes.

Few minutes had passed and he heard noises coming from outside the room both of you were in. He didn’t move, not caring for what was happening outside. 

You groaned as you shifted, catching Akane’s attention immediately. “What... Where am i?.....” You sat while you hand touched the wet cloth. You looked at your side and saw Akane in a hotter different style.

“Akane?” You looked at him dumbfounded. Both of you blushed when both of you made eye contact. “So, i should explain right?” He sighed once you nodded. He told you everything- The different looking Akane, supernatural- you name it.

“And yeah, i stopped time to save you- But you scared me!” You were taken aback by his sudden outburst. “You could’ve died! Without me, you could’ve died!” You calmed him down by hugging him. He stiffened as he slowly wrapped his arms around you. 

You both stayed like that for a few minutes, until you both heard another noise.

You and Akane went outside the room to be greeted by old people who were your classmates and friends. You shrieked. “WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!” Akane looked around then you saw Kou running towards both of you. He almost looked like his brother Teru. 

“Y/n senpai- Whose that?” Kou asked. “A- No. 1. Now better question, What’s happening here?!” 

[ Then you got involved into saving the school and turning everyone back to normal. You learned that there was a ghost named Hanako or Honorable No. 7, Who was a pervert. ]

(l/n) (y/n) and Aoi Akane are long-term best friends ever since they were born, even their parents are best friends.

They grew up together and made many memories with each other.

(y/n) enjoyed being with Akane and Akane also enjoyed being with (y/n).

There was also a purple-headed girl and her family moved next to our apartments as she was added to the group. Aoi, Akane, and (y/n) became friends until they studied at Kamome Academy.

“ Ao-chan, go out with me. ” Akane said as you looked at them, you giggled

“ 3 points. ” Aoi said with a smile while putting a hand on his right cheek.

Akane cried tears of joy or pain.

(y/n) giggled softly as she put her arms in Akane’s shoulder.

“ That’s fine Akane-kun, better luck next time. ” (y/n) said as she lightly shook the poor boy.

(y/n) approached Aoi and hugged her, maybe it worked by habit. (y/n) liked hugging her best friends such as Aoi and Akane.

(y/n) also met another friend luckily she’s also Aoi’s friend.

Her name is Yashiro Nene, oh did I mention that there’s a boy with a choppy black-haired ghost, yes ghost because it’s floating that always follows her around, but it also became my friend.

As time goes on and on. Akane has been hanging out with Aoi, he walks with her home totally forgetting me, sometimes Akane begs me to let them walk first or let me go home first, alone.

You didn’t like his ideas but, you are his friend you don’t want him to look at you that you can't help him so you just agreed to his ideas.

“ Guess what (n/n)-chan, Ao-chan accepted my confession. ” Akane said grinning widely, that broke (y/n)’s heart she didn’t want to hear it but, it happened already.

“ Ah, well congrats. ” (y/n) said plainly as she looked at the flower pot that Aoi used to take care of.

“ Why do you sound, uninterested? ” he questioned curiously, you looked at him straight in the eye and chuckled trying to ignore the fact that she wanted to tear up.

“ Oh, sorry if I sounded like I'm not interested, I just really don’t know how to react. ” (y/n) laughed, she didn’t know that a tear slipped in her eyes.

“ Are you crying (n/n)-chan? ” he questioned worriedly as he approached the girl but (y/n) stopped him and said, “ no, that was a tear of joy, y’know me if laugh too much I tear up because of laughing. ”

While wiping her tears and standing up, “ I should get going, enjoy your walk with Aoi-chan. ” she said, trying to smile but failed.

“ Wait (n/n)- ” he tried to call the girl but (y/n) already left the classroom.

After she left the classroom, she ran into the hallways trying not to cry.

She ran and ran until she reached her destination, the girl's bathroom in the old school building.

As she opened the door slowly, she saw Hanako first next was Yashiro, (y/n) ran to Hanako and hugged him and she began to cry like a child who lost her parents. At first,

Hanako panicked and Yashiro teased Hanako that he made (y/n) cried but as (y/n) tried to explain it to them the atmosphere became quiet.

Hanako and Yashiro comforted the girl until she stopped crying, she thanked them and she walked home, alone.

In the distance, she could see two figures holding hands in front of her apartment, turns out it’s Aoi and Akane. Her face frowned but smiled anyway as she approached them.

“ Heya, what are you two doing in here? ” (y/n) questioned them with an energetic voice, (y/n) was hurt seeing them holding hands but at least she could see Akane happy.

You smiled bitterly at your thoughts. You just realized now that you have feelings for the red-headed boy but it is too late.

Why? Someone already owns him and that someone wasn’t you.
