Psychological study idea that would never get funded:

Sending surveys alongside a range of fanfictions but half of them have a little “author bio” where it says “English isn’t my first language” and seeing if people are more likely to find the work poetic/moving/transcendental. Also an opportunity to compare gender, sexuality, age, race etc.

But mostly to see if fanfiction readers are just really thrilled to see non-English speakers doing something outside of their comfort zone.

making a book of my fic(s) and running your fingers across the pages while lovingly whispering my precioussss

doing these things with anything I create for fandom, such as meta, headcanons, au nonsense like 'texts from the brodinsons,' etc

I am not fine with "the audience"

doing any of the above with the purpose/intent of plagiarizing my work or passing it off as their own in any capacity

feeding my work into ai for any reason whatsoever

Save the fandom things. Preserve the fandom things. Respect the fandom things.

I was telling my dad about ao3 and he asked "But why would anyone do it if they're not being paid?" And that genuinely makes me so sad. The fact that the majority of people are told things are only worth doing if there is financial gain in it. Oh you're an artist? Artists don't make any money.

Sometimes the point isn't money. Sometimes it's just to create.
