Hien & Benichidori compilation

Okay so I put a & but this absolutely a shippy post, the hienichidori community is quiet af and there is no discourse but their comics in their Adventurer’s Bible profiles…!!! Many may ask, does Benichidori canonically have a crush on Hien?! Straightforward answer: It’s left heavily implied but yes. Alternate answer: If the framing of Falin in an explosion as Toshiro says that he loves her isn’t meant to associate the explosion with falling in love when it is mirrored in the next page, then… I think it’s a mix of both, I don’t think just this is true because Hien wouldn’t know who Shuro is talking about or even what Falin looks like, but it could be that the explosion is instead meant to show a world vision being shaken, the thing blowing you away. So for Hien, having Shuro say that breaks this unsaid assumption she’s always had that they might end up together, and thus Falin is taken like an explosion to the face. Similarly, for someone with facial dysmorphia and for who appearances and being subservient are everything, having Hien be confident and totally assume her plain looks, even uplifting herself, that also shakes her world like a bomb. And yes it’s not just about the makeup!! Benichidori’s drawn to her confidence, to her unapologetic attitude, to her attitude. Benichidori unexpectedly snapped at Hien too, but she was totally unshaken and she replied casually and lightheartedly even then; Benichidori saying she can be herself with Hien is about Hien not caring about her mask, both her makeup and her subdued demeanor. Hien is canonically special to Benichidori.

And on the note of that comic, I took a picture from my Adventurer’s Bible for this but I think the fantranslations I’ve seen are lovely too, really gets across all the meaning of the original sentence… Where Benichidori said "She was the only one I could be my unadorned self in front of" (which is my fave) or "I’m able to act my honest self with her". Benichidori having body(more specifically facial) dysmorphia is explicitly stated in the Adventurer’s Bible btw.

Pleasee how Hien’s extra is her talking about her life story and Toshiro to Benichidori… How Hien says "That guy is blind!" and Benichidori says "I’ve noticed that 😊" as if saying that Toshiro is blind to what a catch Hien is… Also in the ninja girls’ shared inn room Benichidori puts her futon next to Hien’s bed.

i am genuinely tweaking over the fact that macgyver (2016) practically glosses over the fact that Mac was straight up!!! Lying!!!! to bozer for YEARS.

this would have been such good material to use to explore Mac and Bozer's relationship, and how complex the situation was bc YES it feels like a betrayal but it's also Mac simply protecting Bozer from his dangerous life and still keeping him close despite the danger, despite the very real possibility of bozer accidentally finding out or simply using bozer to get to Mac.

NOT TO MENTION. Boze was Mac's only link to something not remotely related to his job!!! the only bit of normal in his chaotic life!!!!

both of them having to find their footing again after the reveal bc nothing can go back to normal. like. bozer thinking back to all the weird injuries mac returned home with from his think tank business trips, all the lies, all the secrecy, all the time. justified hurt on bozer's side as well as understanding bc if the roles were reversed wouldn't bozer also lie to keep his closest friend safe? understanding the reason doesn't make the years of lies hurt any less.

It took six months for Dad to skip out on Dean after Sam left. Six months. Which is more time than Dean’s ever stayed in one place after Mom died, but less than the amount of time it took Cas to walk into Dean’s life afterwards. So it’s fine, really.

i think it's a shame that xingqiu and gaming (ship or friends) never got popular because everyone needs to insert chongyun in them; I like chongming as well and I like chongyun but I suspect the only reason mingqiu isn't popular is bc people dont like taking apart xingyun :| their mutual voicelines are incredibly funny, gaming and how he went out on a limb for lion dance is what xingqiu maybe wishes he could do with guhua martial arts, add in the fact that gaming has never been able to finish a book without falling asleep,,, i'd be really interested to see them interact together where the focus is their relationship, not the love triangle jealousy trope that most of the popular depictions of them are focused on :\

i’m a firm believer in Luffy not having qualms about killing his enemies but there is just something so delicious about the idea of Robin and Zoro being his demons…

Zoro, who used to kill for a living, brutally if his reputation of Demon of the east blue is to be believed, who has been lonely since kuina’s death, being his captain’s guard dog and best friend, willing to go into hell for him and bring a bit of hell into the world in turn… i love bloodthirsty Zoro, who uses his blades on their enemies and offers himself as Luffy’s sword as well

Robin, called the Devil Child since she was eight years old, through no fault of her own, having had to acquire the skill set to go with that name just to survive to adulthood, unable to trust or feel safe till she is fully accepted by the straw hats led by Luffy, finally able to let her soft side flourish but never above using everything she learned Before for the boy/man who gave her Everything

And luffy, the “son of the devil” as zoro jokingly called him at the Beginning, as many people would call him based on who his father is, carrying the will of D, the will of a wild liberator God from the hidden past, who burns as bright as the sun

there is just something about a bond between the Captain, his right sword arm and his spy master, who view him as both a younger sibling and a leader/savior they would do anything for, who both understand him without talking

So, i find myself fanficly conflicted

On FFN i received a guest review asking about one of two fanfics i took down. Both relating to wicked

There was a trend in the 2010s, not sure if its gone away or not, that was interview with the characters fics. Mine was cartoony, honestly kinda cringey, mixed with “well i was definitely young and on the fun puberty hormones writing some of this”

I took it down when i took down my other wicked fic. Because some of the references i made tied into it. I still have them both, backed up to the same word doc.

The proper fic i kinda dropped off of, and looking at it one day realized i kinda lost the plot for and whereever the plot was going it most certainly wasnt in a direction i would go now. Helps that im not entirely sure what direction i was actually going with it either. Hadnt adopted my, start with an ending, write the beginning, everything else is plot based filler method.

And when i say lost the plot, was reading through it again and basically *john travolta pulp fiction meme here*

Now i have always intended to rewrite the proper fic but im in two minds about what to do with the interview fic. Part of me wants to start it back up again, basically reboot it, like chapter one could be introduction and the entire original interview fic basically replayed as an introduction. Would basically make the first chapter, i think 10k words from the word go

Another part of me wants to reboot it the same way but make it a crossover with my current fic series. As ive dubbed it, legends of oz: the chaos saga. Like ive got the opening in mind that works for both, doing a bit of a comedic retro thing.

Write two sets of characters, have more fun with it just because the worlds of wicked and legends of oz Dorothy’s return are vastly different. Could be a nice compare and contrast to write the separate version of each characters mindsets. Plus one or more ocs to throw the occasional spanner in the works.

As im writing this, ive come up with an interesting third option, do both, reboot it like a seasonal show. Season one, the wicked character interview reboot, season two the crossover
