I was walking in the beach with my girlfriend and her growlithe, and as it was digging in the sand it just suddenly turned into an arcanine, I guess someone dropped a fire stone or something. She's honestly doing pretty well in trying to adjust her home life to accommodate this sudden and unexpected evolution, but the pokemon in question however still seems to have not gotten the memo that it is now a lot bigger than it was before. It's cute to see it think it's stuck behind a fence it can clearly jump over, not so much when it takes up the entire couch while I'm still on it. Any advice to help train it in being more aware of it's size difference?

evolutionary stones wash up on beaches all the time, as do many other items. among other reasons, such as the disturbance canine pokemon can cause to nesting bird pokemon or semi-aquatic pokemon that spend time on the sand, this is why it's important to keep your pokemon on a close leash while taking them on the beach. a surprise evolution is actually preferable to biting down on a pyukumuku or pincurchin.

the best way to acclimate a pokemon to its new body is with extensive training and physical activity. you may have to institute a "no more couch time" rule for her arcanine to avoid 160 kg of dog on you. arcanine need to run around a lot anyway, and as it gets more exercise, it'll get used to itself. but a lot of this also comes down to previous training. growlithe are reliably loyal pokemon known for their tendency to stick to their training. as a result, things that it's used to (not jumping fences, being on the couch) are still going to be facts in its brain. even if your girlfriend is handling things well so far, i usually recommend that people who weren't planning on evolving their pokemon touch base with a professional trainer in the case of a surprise evolution; i'd especially recommend it in the case of an arcanine, which is such a difficult pokemon to take care of.

my humble request…shiny pyukumuku

This shiny made me curious, so I had to do some searching to see if it was based on anything. Black sea cucumbers with red/pink tubercles do seem to be an actual thing based on a quick Google search; I think green sea cucumbers are also a thing, though I'm not sure if there's any with yellow tubercles.

Anyway, regardless, this is a fine shiny; it's very distinct compared to the original, swapping out black for a lighter green and the pink for yellow. The green and the yellow compliment each other nicely as analogous colors, and the swap is consistent with the original in terms of color distribution. The green also makes it look more like an actual cucumber, which is cute. I like the original palette more just because I'm a sucker for black and pink in general, but this works well as a shiny.

Why is Syir so powerful anyway? Why is such an unstoppable, Uber OP Villain in a (supposed) slice of life comic? And is it even explained how Syir got so strong? But yeah, she probably would say that Syir can't get knocked out, for some unexplained reason. Which is such bad writing.

(Also my team would be a Kingambit, Tinkaton, Pyukumuku, Mimikyu, Scizor and: Slaking for Trace, or a Gliscor w/ poison heal for synchronize.)

Once she said she originally wanted Pokemadhouse to take a "Grimdark" turn with things like Syir not being uncommon, but she gave up on it.

A thing about her writing these op characters is that she hates when People try to find ways to Beat them, so she turns them almost invincible. Check Tale of Valkyrie for example: Ryder and the Val'kyrs were capable of destroying literal Multiverses alone and there was nothing People could do to stop them. Aliana in Sith resurgence is literally this beast of a Force User and no one is strong enough to stop her. Pokemadhouse i already said.

She loves power fantasy, her characters being the strongest and the fiercest. And mixed with bad writing of her, is a hazard.

Pokemon teams: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

I've wanted to do another one of these since my Dungeon Meshi / Delicious in dungeon ones. I'm not expecting this to reach many people, but if you disagree with my picks feel free to tell me so! These were made in a pretty short timeframe and I'll explain my process as i go. There will be spoilers.

Simon (Young): I wanted Simons first team to be weak, but full of potential. I'm no good at competetive pokemon, but i feel that if you leveled all these pokemon to their max evolutions you'd get a pretty decent team. Anyways moving on to the actual pokemons: The Drilbur line was made for Gurren Lagann. Drilbur is a digger just like Simon, with a signature drill. It also references Boota, its shiny because it looks more like Boota that way. Dreepy was added because i wanted to make a connection with Simons and Kaminas teams. I'll speak more on it in Kaminas section. Nosepass is referencing Lagann. Wishiwashi is symbolising Simons lack of confidence when being alone. Trapinch is a digging pokemon and is a lesser version of Flygon. Zygarde is a tiny weak thing that has great strength when it gathers itself, which is a pretty good way to describe Simon.

Kamina: I wanted Kaminas team to be extremely masculine as this is the idea of himself that he projects. Drakloak is carrying a little Dreepy on its head. This reminded me a lot of Kaminas and Simons relationship, which is why Simon has a Dreepy in his team. Although in reality its really Kamina that is carried by Simons abilities, this is how everyone besides Kamina sees their relationship. The big brother taking care of his younger brother. Krookodile was mostly picked because of its shades and it being a shady pokemon, which fits Kaminas infamous reputation in his village. Darmanitan fits his fiery motivation and is really just a nice pokemon for him. He is very hot headed after all. Golurk is representing Gurren, and also looks quite muscular which fits Kaminas masculine aesthetic. Flygon is here both to act as a bigger and better version of Simons Trapinch, but also here because of its goggles. Finally his last pokemon is Pyukumuku. This is my favourite part of his team because its the pokemon that fits his character the most. Kamina is a person that is nothing on his own. He lies about what he feels, he lies about his fears and doesnt speak about his insecurities. To everyone else he's the perfect leader. In reality, hes a 18 year old putting up the biggest front of all time to make the people in his life feel safe, especially his younger brother Simon. Pyukumuku on its own is a useless pokemon. It cant do any damage, except in certain situations. If you had a team with only a pyukumuku, you would most likely not be able to beat any pokemon game (Dont take this as a challenge). Pyukumuku shines better, when paired with a full team. Not only does this symbolise his status as the leader, but also his personality. In battles, he is never the deciding factor. He may shout the loudest, but the strength always comes from Simon. Kaminas role is making sure Simon believes in himself. He is the support. I see a lot of claims online sometimes saying Kamina is the manliest man, always seemingly because of his traditionally masculine traits. The real reason hes the greatest is the way he supports everyone. I hope after reading this you see why pyukumuku is his perfect pokemon. He is nothing alone, but as a leader, a brother, a friend or anything. He will always support you. (Also i like that Pyukumukus only way to attack is a fist, it fits Kamina). Sorry for the long rant, I'll be moving on now.

Yoko: For Yoko i wanted to make a mix of her status as a sniper, her attitude as a part of the team and her role as a teacher. Clawitzer and Sandaconda reference her status as the sniper, Blaziken is both a nod to her design having fire elements, and her more serious attitude. She can be a bit silly at times, but shes probably the most serious character of the crew. I think Blaziken fits her pretty well. Next up is Mantine, which i know looks a bit weird. Mantine is in a symbiotic relationship with schools of Remoraid. I thought this was a nice way to represent her status as a teacher taking care of the younger generation. The last two i picked mostly because i feel they fit her pretty well. Mawile is mostly because of the ponytail but also because it fits her personality as a teacher, being a mix of very nice/cute and scary. Lastly Tsareena just fits her. I've always felt it was a very, excuse my wording here, girlboss pokemon. Which fits her a lot.

Rossiu: For Rossius team i wanted to get a mix of his role being a wise person, relying on logic but also his status as a former religious person. Carracosta design wise always evoked a very wise feeling for me. It seems like a pokemon you could talk about your feelings to, and give that it could respond, it would give the answers you didnt know you needed. I think Rossiu is the most intelligent character (Except for Leeron which I forgot to make a team for...) and i wanted his team to reflect this. Next up is Sigilyph which is to my knowledge based on ancient angels. At least to me it evokes a very "Be not afraid" kind of feeling. I felt this fit his connection to religion fairly well. Next up is Golett which represents him taking over Gurren after Kaminas death. Gurren however is represented by Golurk, so him just having Golett represents that hes not really cut out for piloting Gurren. I felt Oranguru fit him alot as it seems to be designed to be like a sort of preacher. Not only is this a nice little nod to the leader of his village, I think they look alike, but its design also fits his nihilistic perpective and choices in the later episodes of the series. I wanted to fit into some technology into his team, so I included Klingklang. Lastly I added Duraludon Dynamax. It being a very modern building i felt fit his modern outlook on the world. He builds a democracy and society after the team fumble at building a government. I feel its a nice fit.

Nia: There are a lot of pokemon who share Nias colour palette, and i really love her design. Sylveon is basically her design, filled with ribbons and that colour scheme. I love Nias design, so i wanted to truly represent it. I also feel Primarina fits her a lot, no real substance here. Hatterene both fits her design, and represents her status as a princess. She was locked away which is also in Hatterenes design. Audino represents her empathy, and caring nature. She really is the heart of the team after Kaminas death. And draws the team forward. Mainly drawing Simon out of his depression, simply by treating him as a human being. This is also why I added Wishiwashi. Sharing a pokemon with Simons team. Like mentioned, Nia brought Simon out of his depression, so I felt this was a good way to symbolise her being a main factor in him growing as a person. Lastly I added Nihilego as its a cute design that fits her, but it also represents her being part anti-spiral, as a Ultra Beast is not a pokemon.

Kittan: I awnted to represent Kittans personality and status to the team. Tyrantrum represents him being agressive, sometimes throing tantrums and his King aesthetic. Pangoro represents him being a thug and i also feel it represents the black siblings pretty well. For Golisopod and Mimikyu I wanted to represent his insecurities. Golisopod because Kittan is a person who acts very tough but can be wimpy sometimes. Although this is really just for the start of the season. Mimikyu however is him trying to act like Kamina to be the leader the team needs after Kaminas death. Hes mimicing his behaviours but they dont work. He can never be Kamina, but he tries. For Rhyperior I wanted to represent him getting his own drill. Not Kaminas drill, and not Simons drill either. Its not Excadrills drill, its its own thing. Although the rest of the design doesnt really fit him, i really like this symbolically. Electivire is probably the weakest part of his team, but i feel it fits him visually.

Simon (Adult): I felt Simon deserved to have his team grow since my favourite part of this show is Simon moving past his self hatred to become the best version of his self. To get a bit personal here, I've alwways related to Simon since i first watched the show. I wanted to be like Kamina, and saw myself in Simon. Watching Simon grow up to be as amazing as he is motivates me when I'm at my lowest. Hes a character that always had it in him, but he just couldnt believe in himself. All he needed was someone to tell him that it was okay to believe in himself. And that it was okay to be him. This is something I really love with him. He truly grows up to be himself. Therefore this team is just a fully evolved version of his team when he was younger. He always had it in him, he just had to Believe. There are some nice touches here. Excadrills shiny looks suspiciously like Bootas humanoid form in the show, so I felt it was necessary. He also gets a Dragapult. Kamina only had a Drakloak. Simon surpasses the legend of Kamina while taking up his mantle. Then wwe have Wishiwashis school form. Simon is the person he is because of the people around him. He may not be entirely weak on his own, but Wishiwashi as a pokemon represents the theme of being stronger together very well, and Simon wouldnt be who he is without the people believing in him. Probopass is Lagann again, I've always had a soft spot for this guy, sorry theres not really any better reasoning. I wanted him to keep a Flygon aswell, not only because he gets Kaminas shades, but cooler, but also because i wanted him to have a part of Kaminas team with him. Kamina will always be in his heart, and on his back after all. Lastly I added Zygarde 100%. I usually hate giving legendaries to characters when I make pokemon teams, but this one is too perfect. It is litterally Gurren Lagann. Its the only thing i think of when I see this pokemon and if any character is deserving of a legendary in my eyes, its Simon.

I wanted to do Viral aswell, but i forgot about it and its now 9 am and I havent slept.

Wren meets kiawe at like 8.30am in the morning and they were so happy and energised which he rarely is in the morning. Kiawe's like have you eaten breakfast he's like Erm no (used to eating lunch straight) and kiawe's like 😐. You need to eat before we do anything. So they go to the restaurant Mallow's family runs ☺️ they got a booth and at first they sat opposite eahc other and wren was like. Wait. And he gets up and sits on kiawe's side together. Anyway so Wren gets like pancakes idk and kiawe has already had breakfast so he just gets like a drink and while they were waiting for their food they were like bumping knees playfully and their arms were touching and stuff and mallow came back and Kiawe got a bit flustered so he inched away a bit (they haven't made it official but our friends all know).

After that we walk around Royal avenue and decide to see a battle royale I think he should get like free tickets cuz he's a trial captain so we got free tickets lol.

Oh ya mallow mentioned she was going to watch the Minior shower at night with Lana cuz sophocles told them tonight the shower is very visible so kiawrens like ok we're gonna go too.

Wren remembers kiawe would like to have a litten so he suggested going to find and catch one. Okay I made this shit up on the spot last night but I think Rowlets can only be found in lush jungle on akala, popplio in the waters near seafolk village on poni and litten on melemele wandering around urban areas. So we take a ferry to melemele and the sights and the sea breeze is so good... Okay then we find and catch one. Actually I don't like the idea of beating a wild pokemon to near-death submission so I think my toucannon just heat up it's beak (when did this turn into a 1st person pov) and litten felt the heat and warmed up to it and also purred and heated its back and kiawe's arcanine was also really friendly to it okay litten catch accomplished

Then they have lunch on melemele and go to the beachfront where they chuck pyukumuku in the water and wren catches a one.. I actually rlly want one but I haven't went to find it in the game idk why I'm so lazy. Anyway after this it's like 5pm idk...

They then take a ferry to Ula'ula and got takeaway food at Malie city btw I love the music there so much I hc there's this old man busking and playing the music there on some cool traditional instrument idc.. then they sit in the park to have their dinner and watch the sun set and the view on the pond is really nice Erm yeah then they take the bus up to the observatory and meet their friends there and sit on the grass as the sky gets dark and the Minior shower happens. And wren caught a Minior that day too 😁

On the ferry home to akala kiawe's kinda tired so wren let's him rest on their shoulder kiawe's kinda awkward about it like are you sure. And then he couldn't really rest his mind cuz he was feeling so flustered about it too. The sea at night time is so nice btw. Then back on akala each of them said he'll walk the other home oh wait actually what if wren said that but remembered he still has to give kiawe something. So kiawe's like great I get to walk you :) and wren's like urh no after we stop by my dorm I'm sitll following you back and kiawe's like What that's so Unnecessary but he relents cuz wren really likes him so much and wants to be romantic okay and he also doesnt want the night to end yet.. They stop by wren's dorm on route 8 and wren gives kiawe an origami red tulip they made. Becuz I was thinking if I showed up with a tulip in the morning that's kinda weird cuz what's he gonna do with the flower when we hang out the rest of the day. So it makes more sense to give it at the end of the day. Okay yeah kiawe's heart swells so much they uhm they haven't kissed yet actually. They just hold hands. Okay then wren sees Kiawe back to his house. You know there's this kid outside his house in the game that speaks to the MC. I think for some reason he was still outside and went Kiawe is that your boyfriend.? And Kiawe was so 😳 he couldn't speak so wren was like Yes😁👍 and the kid was like Ohhh.. Ok. and then they said goodnight and Kiawe really didn't want to close the door and he was like are you sure you don't want me to see you back and wren's like yah I'm sure it's not like a whole island away. Okay then they finally finally say goodbye and goodnight and see you tomorrow.

Frisk - Me!!! At least the Picrew version of me. Not much is changing about my personality.

Chara - Alastor (Hazbin Hotel)! I know that Chara isn’t the one who caused the genocide in actual Undertale, but nobody is really looking at this anyway, so Alastor causes the genocide in this AU. Color me stupid lolz.

Flowey - Chikn Nuggit! I just feel this role would be funny, especially the idea of the Omega form being Chikn’s god form.

Toriel - Kinger (TADC)! He keeps whatever place replaces the Ruins dark for his own sanity. Plus, protective father figure. Followers of my blog know exactly where this is going lolz.

Napstablook - Greavard (Pokemon)! Little shy ghost pup. I know he’s more outgoing than Napstablook, but I felt this role would be cute.

Sans - Rudy (ChalkZone)! I’ve made Rudy Sans in a couple of other AUs, but we don’t talk about those because they were even worse than this one. This version of Rudy is a bit more outgoing than Sans, but a bit lazier than himself in the cartoon. 

Papyrus - Snap (ChalkZone)! He’s just like himself in the show because Snap already has Papyrus energy. 

Grillby - Dib (Invader Zim)! He’s had more success as a restaurant owner than a paranormal investigator. At least his restaurant is based on ghosts and aliens.

Monster Kid - Kitty (Kitty Is Not A Cat)! I felt she would say a bit more than “meow” in this AU, but only a bit! She’d probably say things like “Hi!” and “Let’s go!” or “Stop!” if you do a genocide run. She wants to be a part of the royal guard just like her friends! 

Mad Dummy - Mimikyu (Pokemon)! Angry ghost in a cloth costume? Yeah, it’s the same.

Undyne - Kuromi (Sanrio)! Edgy emo critter with soft bunny gf. She denies the fact that she’s cute and the fact she likes cute stuff.

Temmie - Squeakoid (Animal Crossing)! Sqeakoid shop, bottom text.

Alphys - My Melody (Sanrio)! Precious little bun! She loves kawaii stuff and anime (especially Sailor Moon)!

Mettaton - Sprigatito/Meowscarada (Pokemon)! Sprigatito is the Box Form, Meowscarada is the EX Form, and the NEO Form is just Meowscarada with a glock. 

Muffet - Charlotte (Making Fiends)! She’s gone a little nuts looking for a friend and thinks that wealth can help with that. 

Gaster - Penny (ChalkZone)! Rudy used to be her assistant before the incident involving the CORE replacement.

Asgore - Caine (TADC)! He’s a bit more outgoing than Asgore, but I wanted to do some Royalteeth angst. He feels bad for what he did to the six souls because it drove Kinger away and resulted in the death of the next role.

Asriel - Pomni (TADC)! She’s pretty much the same as she is in the show.

Mad Mew Mew - Dedenne (Pokemon)! Well, more like a robot Dedenne, but still.

Chapter 31- Part 11

Xera still doesn't swing that way, pal!

Wait, so Team Meteor’s already setting up at Pyrous Mountain? But they just left Azurine Island with Camerupt! We just left! Oh my gosh, they really did use instant transmission!

Alright, impromptu musical number aside, I guess we've really gotta get going. Like I said, I was gonna heal the team anyways.

Oh, but I see the girl at the front gate is facing left now all of a sudden! New dialogue, perhaps?

Oh honey you have no idea what's about to go down-

But that's all gonna be taken care of next time! This chapter wasn't the longest, but given a lot of stuff is probably gonna go down once we go through Pyrous Mountain, it's probably better to end off this chapter here. That way, we can have all the time in the world to do what needs to be done next time! Whatever that may be!

It'll probably be defusing that PULSE Camerupt, though- and for that, I should probably keep Coast on the team, Gastro Acid is gonna be the key there. But beyond that…well, I’ll do more in-depth planning next time. To that end, I…probably shouldn’t have ended the chapter approaching the mountain, in case I decide to do more team adjustments…hm. Ah well, I’ll figure things out when the time comes.

Did you get the Pyukumuku?

Sure did, pal! Or, uh, one of my relatives did anyways. Don’t mind the OT too much.

Pretty much just your average Pyukumuku—I believe the typical description for them is “no thoughts, head empty”. But hey, for all I know this little Pyuk’s the philosopher of the century! Lemme know when I can send ‘er over.

pyukumuku?

Sea cucumbers are some funky animals, and Pyukumuku is also pretty funky. Gamefreak managed to make it look downright cute, with a football-shaped body, little dot eyes, and even a bunny tail; but make no mistake, it still expels its own organs and makes a fist out of them to punch whatever's closest.

Making the organs into a hand like that is what makes this Pokemon stand out, as it's both over-the-top and memorable. It also keeps the organs from looking too much like, well, organs, which keeps Pyukumuku pretty cute. I also like the lore behind it, where tourists find them gross and annoying because if you slip on one, it'll just outright punch you.

I also like the design visually. It's super simple, but I'm always a sucker for a good pink, black, and white palette. The black and white are high-contrast while the pink pops really nicely against both colors. The spikes also help break up the body shape and prevent it from being too round or non-descript when it doesn't have a fist out.

I also think the mouth is interesting; sea cucumbers technically expel their organs from their anus, and while Pyukumuku does it from its mouth, the shape is still kind of evocative. The tail, meanwhile, is on the exact other side of its body, making it look kind of like more expelled organs but also a bunny-like tail at the same time.

Anyway, just a fun and simple Pokemon design with a solid twist on the original animal. Good stuff.
