Pairing: Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader(Past relationship)- Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader(not a full on relationship but friends with benefits type thing with hidden feelings?) Warning: SMUT 18+‼️Oral (F receiving p in v) ,cussing, mention of sex, angst Summary: After Thanos snapped half of humanity out of existence, then fighting like hell to get them back just for him to leave anyway. A/N: It still irritates me that Steve left everyone behind for Peggy, this fic is for people who are also irritated about Steve leaving, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it too. this is a short one, well my opinion of short😂 Past in Italics
Tumblr media
"Steve, you promised. You told me there was nothing to worry about and that you loved me and only me." He sighed and placed his hand on your shoulder "I do love you, but I love her too. I can't just ignore it; she is the love of my life." By now tears were streaming down your face, you couldn't believe what you were hearing you thought Steve was someone you could trust. You took a step back, staring deep into his eyes. "Steve..." Was all you could manage to get out between sobs, and you shrugged his hand off your shoulder "I can't believe you right now, after everything you are willing to just throw away 6 years together." Steve rubbed his face and when he removed his hands you could see his facial expression was different "I have to! When I saw her again, it brought back everything I missed out on.” His sudden change of volume made you flinch, he apologized and told you he loved you, but his words meant nothing because he still went back to Peggy leaving you behind to try and move on while he lived out his dream.
Tumblr media
You and Steve were in love, even though in the back of your mind the same name kept popping up Peggy Carter. Although he tells you every chance, he can that he loves you and only you, you can’t help but feel like a consolation prize. You loved Steve he was your favorite person in the world, you would be lost without him, but you don't know if he felt the same way about you sometimes. He told you over and over that he loved you and he would never do anything to hurt you, and then he did it. He left. He left you to go back to Peggy. After all the fighting to bring everyone back, all the moments you shared, everything. He just left like it was nothing. It took a while for you to move on and find your happiness, it wasn't easy, but you did it and you were successful. Something unexpected happened that caused you to rethink everything.
It's been 3 years since Steve left and you're single and still not ready to mingle and that's fine no one is rushing, and you're not really interested in anyone, you're just having some fun. You and Bucky were sitting on the couch, your legs over his lap while he rubbed your calf after you pretended to have a cramp "Is your cramp gone?" You giggled a bit "I never had a cramp I just wanted you to rub my legs" Bucky groaned and smacked your shin, leaning back and looking at the TV. "Why did you stop" You whined rubbing your leg against his hand "Because you tricked me" He looked over at you while you made puppy dog eyes at him, he rolled his eyes and started rubbing your legs again, you smiled to yourself and started watching TV again. Sam strolled into the living room, plopping down beside you "Well aren't you two cozy" You hit him with a pillow not taking your eyes off the screen "Why don't you mind your business." Bucky retorted earning a deep chuckle from Sam "It's cute that's all." You saw Sam shift awkwardly out of the corner of your eye, you sat up and looked at him "What's wrong?" Sam looked over at you and raised an eyebrow "What are you talking about?" You studied his face "You never adjust yourself. unless you're nervous about something. Out with it."
Sam sighed and just as he was about to answer you heard the front door open, everyone turned their attention to the door, and in walks Steve. You sat there frozen unable to utter a single word, Bucky got up and did one of those man hugs with him and Sam followed suit, while you sat there still frozen trying to figure out if he was real or if you were dreaming. It was real, no matter how many times you told yourself it wasn’t. He was standing right in front of you staring deep into your eyes waiting for you to say something. Anything. You cleared your throat and stood up joining the group “Hi...” Steve smiled at you, God you missed that smile, but then you remembered that smile belonged to Peggy. "Hey, Y/N how are you?" Is he really going to pretend that everything is, okay? Like he didn’t just leave you behind “I’m good, how are you here?” He sighed and looked around “Why don’t we sit down, and I can explain.”
Everyone nodded and went to sit on the couch, you sat closest to Bucky laying your head on his shoulder, you weren't doing it to spite Steve or anything, Bucky was your only source of comfort, but you could see in Steve's eyes he didn't like that. His best friend and his ex-girlfriend? Together? The thing is you guys weren't really together you two just leaned on each other when one of you needed it, or when aggression or stress needed to be released. Maybe you had feelings for Bucky but never expressed them.
Steve took a deep breath trying to compose himself "Stark visited me and said there was much to be done here so, he and Scott pulled me back, and I'm here to help." Bucky felt you tense up and although he knew what he was about to do would rub Steve the wrong way, he needed to comfort you instead of having to deal with Steve's feelings when he was the one who left. He rested his hand on your knee rubbing his thumb over your kneecap, it was hard for Steve to concentrate let alone talk so he cut it short "I'm here to stay and help with whatever you guys need help with." Everyone nodded and started to go their separate ways. "Hey, Y/N can I speak with you?" You looked back at Steve and nodded "Sure, what's up?" You stood in front of Steve who was awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck "So are you and Bucky... Like together?" You shook your head "No, but when you left, he was the only one there for me and provided comfort when I needed it. We weren't trying to hurt you earlier; he just knew I was tense and tried to calm me down."
Steve crossed his arms over his chest and took a deep breath "Do you have feelings for him?" You were taken aback, why is he asking these questions, was he judging you for how you repaired yourself? "I don't think that's any of your business anymore." You rolled your eyes and went to walk away. “Wait, Y/N there’s more I need to tell you. I figured it would be easier coming from me.” You turned to face him again, he took a deep breath. You’ve never seen Steve so nervous before “Peggy is here too.” Your breath hitched and you nodded slowly “Is that all?” He nodded and you walked away. You wish you could be happy for him but he left you behind. ‘He left’ kept echoing in your head
You and Bucky were lying on your bed, his head lying between your legs on top of your stomach, you aimlessly played with his hair while he talked about something Sam did, you weren't really paying attention you were too busy thinking about the questions Steve was asking. "So, I was thinking of shaving my head and getting a skull tattoo." Your head snapped in his direction "What?!" He chuckled "What's on your mind?" You sighed and stared at the ceiling "Is it Steve?" You heard the sadness in his voice, it wasn't what he thought, you didn't want to get back with Steve it was just the questions he asked. You took a deep breath "It's not that I want to get back with him, he was just asking questions about us and asked if I had feelings for you." Bucky turned on his side and looked up at you "And you told him that it was none of his business, right?"
You nodded and looked down at him "Does he know we had sex?" You shook your head and sat up "No, I didn't tell him we had sex I didn't think he would want to hear 'Hey Steve, I'm having sex with your best friend, welcome back.' Kinda sounds a little messed up." Bucky let out a hearty laugh "You got a point." Bucky looked down between your legs then back at you “Speaking of sex.” He leaned down and gently kissed your thigh, you looked down at Bucky as he left several soft kisses up and down your thighs. You shutter under his touch “Bucky, is now really a good time?” He dragged the tip of his tongue down the inside of your thigh not breaking eye contact with you. “If you want, I’ll stop.” You wanted nothing more than for him to devour you and help you relieve your stress.
You bit your bottom lip and nodded slightly at him; he pulled your underwear to the side and instantly latched onto your clit sucking gently. Over the years Bucky learned what your body wanted, how you wanted, and especially what drove you crazy and that was his tongue. To him, it was just a tongue but to you, it was the best thing in the world. Bucky moaned against your skin sending vibrations straight to your clit, which made you moan out his name. Bucky knew the effect he had on you and used it to his advantage. Your fingers found their way to his hair tugging slightly as he swirled his tongue all around your throbbing wet pussy, you arched your back and spread your legs farther to give him more access. You felt your orgasm creeping up, you began rolling your hips against his face “B-Buck, I’m close.” As soon as he heard those words he latched onto your clit this time sucking a little harder than before, you cried out in pleasure before releasing all of your juices onto his face.
You laid there breathless as he sucked up all the juice until every last drop was gone. “Y/N, you okay?” You lazily nodded and watched as he crawled up beside you, you kicked off your underwear and got on your knees while pulling his boxers down, you wanted nothing more than to climb on top and feel his dick stretch you out. You watched his dick bounce back from his waistband, you licked your lips and took his dick in your hand slowly pumping up and down. As much as you love to tease him you really didn’t want to waste any time, you took his entire length in your mouth, choking a bit until you started to breathe through your nose, you bobbed your head up and down earning a low growl from Bucky, you looked up and saw him watching you. You smirked and pulled back swirling your tongue around his tip.
Bucky reached down and grabbed you by the throat pulling you up to his face so he could kiss you, there was something different about the kiss but you didn’t care you kissed him back. You reached down between his legs and slowly sat down on his dick, as soon as it entered he flipped you on your back and started thrusting roughly into you. Bucky was always rough with you and you loved every minute of it mainly because it was him. His hand still on your throat, he used his vibranium hand to make small circles on your clit, this sent you into overdrive. “B-Bucky” You managed to moan out between gasps, Bucky’s thrusts got sloppier and slower as he tried not to cum so fast, he wanted to savor the moment, just then there was a knock at the door “Uh, just a minute.”
But they didn’t listen and walked in anyway. It was Steve “Buck, I have to- Woah, uh I’m sorry… Y/N?” You mentally smacked yourself putting your hands over your face, mumbling fuck’. Bucky looked down at you then back at Steve “Uh, Steve, could you give me a minute.” Steve was so angry that it literally looked like steam was coming out of his ears, he nodded and slammed the door behind him, Bucky looked down at you “So, where were we?” You rolled your eyes and pushed him off of you “Are you kidding me right now? We just got caught by your best friend and my ex. Do you not realize how that looks?” Bucky stood up putting sweatpants on “It looks like his ex girlfriend moved on after he left her for someone else.” As much as the comment hurt he was right. Steve has no right to be mad when he left you, you sighed and mumbled “You’re right…” Bucky looked at you wide eyed “I’m what?” A smile spread across your lips “I’m not saying it again.”
You felt so bad but at the same time, he left you and he has Peggy, he has no right to be mad. You finished getting dressed and headed to meet Bucky and Sam in the living room, you stopped in your tracks when you heard Sam tell them to calm down “Calm down? I just walked in on Bucky and Y/N having sex!” You peeked your head around the corner and saw Steve pacing in front of Bucky, fuming. “You can’t be mad at how she decided to repair what you broke.” Steve stopped in his tracks and looked at Bucky “What I broke? You are my best friend!” You don’t have to see Bucky’s face to know how red it was “You left us! You went back for Peggy you didn’t think about your ‘best friend’ or ‘girlfriend’ when you decided to go back to her.” You leaned your back against the wall sighing quietly maybe it was time to defend yourself. “Hi, you must be Y/N” You flinched and looked at where the voice was coming from and there she was, Peggy Carter.
She was even more gorgeous than you imagined, more than the picture Steve carried around when you two were together “Uh, yeah hi I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you.” She smiled sweetly at you and shook your hand “What are they yelling about?” You pointed to yourself “Steve walked in on Bucky and I being… intimate” She cocked her head and raised an eyebrow “Let’s go be a part of this conversation, shall we.” You nodded and walked into the living room with her. Steve’s eyes widened as you both came around the couch and sat on it “Please, gentlemen continue. Pretend like we’re not even here.” You couldn’t tell if she was pissed off or not her calm tone threw you off. You looked at Bucky and frowned, he leaned over and whispered in your ear “It’s okay, doll.” You heard Steve scoff which caused everyone to look at him “I can’t believe you two.” Peggy chuckled and looked Steve in his eyes "I can't believe you, why do you care what she does?" The next words out of Steve's mouth shocked everyone.
"Because I am still in love with her!"

KATSUKI BAKUGO; - you take a cat home... or not? crack﹗ ✧ Word count: 1.9 k
﹗warnings: swearing :D
a/n: Okay, so this ended up longer than intended, just enjoy! I hope I get you to laugh a little ;) . Comment your thoughts and remember my asks and dm's are open!
Tumblr media
You were in your home, chopping vegetables for your lunch. The day was sunny, and you were in a good mood. Your favourite music was playing in the background, while your rice was cooking. Suddenly, your phone rang, it was Izuku. You knew Katsuki was currently working on a case with him and Todoroki, so you instantly picked up to learn the news. Maybe they already captured the villain, and they could come over for lunch!
"Hello, Izuku! Is everything alright?" you asked cheerily.
"Oh, hi (Y/n)! Well, uhm-" he was interrupted by something that sounded like a hiss, "Ouch! Kacchan, stop it! Todoroki-kun, could you help?"
"Izuku?" you asked, starting to get concerned.
"Sorry, (Y/n)! It's just, well... Wekindofhaveasituationhere, beacusewe werefightingavillain, but, uh- shehadaveryunusualquirk, and, well uhm-"
Okay, when that man starts to mumble, something is definitely wrong. If something happened, he better talk now.
"Izuku Midoriya, you have three seconds to spill it, before I pull a Katsuki on you" you practically ordered, your bubbly mood from before, long gone.
"Kaachan was turned into a cat!"
"What?!"
"Yeah, but don't worry, he's fine. Please come to the Agency! I swear we'll tell you more about it once you're here!"
"Oh, okay, alright. But is he fine?"
"He- he is! Just, please hurry? He's already scratched me like ten times..."
"I'm on my way" you hanged up and turned off the stove. Grabbed your keys, your phone and instantly headed out.
You made it to the Agency in record time and got as swiftly as you could out of the car and into the building.
"Ms (Y/L/N)!", Sasaki, the receptionist called right after you entered, "they're waiting for you in Dynamight's office!"
"Thanks, Sasaki!" you nodded, and headed straight into the elevator. You pressed the button for Katsuki's office and waited.
While the elevator went up, the news finally dawned on you. Your boyfriend was turned into a cat! By a villain! God knows for how long!
The doors of the elevator finally opened, and you sprinted to your boyfriend's workspace. When you got there, you slammed the door open and were met by Izuku's and Todoroki's eyes.
"Where is he?" you said, without greeting them
"He is seated in his chair" Todoroki responded, nodding to the corresponding direction.
You walked slowly into the room, to take a look at your boyfriend. Then, you spotted a fluffy yellowish cat, with the grumpiest face, seated on an office chair.
And you barked a laugh.
Then, you turned around to meet, Izuku's and Todoroki's confused stares, which only made you laugh louder.
"Uhm, (Y/n), are you okay? Izuku asked, with a concerned tone
"Yeah, I'm fine! It's just-" you chuckled, wiping the tears that your laughter provoked, "I just can't believe Pro hero Dynamight got quirked into a cat! How the hell did it happen anyway?" you questioned between laughter, earning a hiss from the cat.
"Well, this villain is called ‘Animaniac’. At first, we thought it was just a villain who could talk with animals, and we thought she had let out the animals from the Zoo. But while fighting, we discovered she actually turns people into animals, and the ones that were roaming around the city, are people who got hit by the quirk." Todoroki explained.
"Yeah, and when we were fighting her, she was going to hit a little girl with her quirk, but Kaachan acted faster, and got hit with the quirk instead..." Izuku continued.
"Aw, Kats... You're so sweet for protecting the girl!" and then started chuckling, "You're such a nice Kat!" and roared a laughter once again; this time earning contained chuckles from the other two heroes.
"He is Cat-suki!" exclaimed a laughing Izuku, and in a swift movement, the cat jumped from where he was seated and started attacking Izuku with his claws.
You gasped and instantly went to help Izuku, while Todoroki just stood there watching the scene unroll. The chaos went on for a few moments until an accidental scratch made your skin sting.
"Ouch! Okay, that's enough" you grabbed Katsuki from the neck, how a mother cat would take her kitten, and embraced him.
Finally, Izuku shook off the fur that got stuck in his clothes, breathing from relief. You sighed.
“So, tell me… Did you take him to the police or the doctors yet?”
“We went to the hospital, where the police met us. They told us the quirk was not going to last, long, but they took Bakugo’s hero costume to follow up the investigation.” Todoroki explained and you nodded in understanding.
“Good. So, I’ll take Katsuki home, and I’ll see you guys around?”
“Yes, (Y/N)! Take care! And please keep us updated if anything happens!” Izuku said, waving goodbye.
“Sure! See you!”
“Bye, (Y/N). Take care.” Todoroki said with a smile as you closed the office door behind you.
You made your way into the elevator, once you were alone with Katsuki, you spoke.
“Sorry for teasing you, it’s just such a funny situation.” The cat looked up as you continued, “Do you want to get in my purse? Or do you want me to keep carrying you?” the cat blinked.
“I’ll just carry you, then. I don’t want you getting stomped on, or kidnapped, or anything”. Just then, the elevator opened, and you walked to the exit.
“Bye, Sasaki!” you addressed the receptionist as you quickly passed by her place. You didn’t wait for an answer, since you were sure Katsuki would like to avoid any type of attention towards his cat form.
Once you were out of the building and inside your car, you spoke to Katsuki again,
“Kats, stay in my lap. I’ll just put the sit belt for both of us”, Katsuki blinked at you and did as you said, while you clicked the belt, covering both of you.
You started driving home, and the stillness of Katsuki made you slightly concerned.
“I know you can’t speak right now, but I feel like you’re acting a little weird. Do you feel okay? If you’re getting motion sickness, meow two times” he stayed silent.
A few more minutes passed until you pulled over in your driveway. You took off your sit belt and carried Katsuki inside your home.
His silence was making you believe he was mad that you made fun of him in front of his friends, so you put him in the kitchen aisle and said,
“Hey, Kats. I’m really sorry for teasing you. I know you must be feeling so unlike yourself right now, and you must not be in the mood to be make fun of. I’ll make it up to you, ‘kay? I’ll cook lunch” you offered him a smile.
Then, you put your apron on and continued the cooking you had started before all the chaos. When you poured the ingredients in the pan, the smell of the food seemed to content Katsuki, so he got off the counter and started to rub his head around your feet.
“I’m almost finished, babe. Just know that I didn’t cook it with spice this time, we don’t know if you’ll be as resistant in this form”.
“What form?” the voice made you jolt, you looked to the cat to see if he could talk, but then you spotted him.
Katsuki was standing near the entrance.
“What? Babe get behind me” you picked up the cat and put it behind your figure, as you took the knife you used to chop the vegetables and pointed it to the human Katsuki.
“Babe? What’s wrong?” he eyed the cat “Why is there a cat?” the confusion in his eyes was evident.
“Do not get closer or I’ll call the police!” you threatened when he tried to get closer.
“What the fuck, (Y/N)? Why are you acting so weird? Did you get hit it he head? Let me check if you have a concussion-” he took a couple steps towards you before you interrupted,
“I do not have a concussion! I just, how are you there? I don’t understand!” your voice sounded more exasperated than you wished.
Katsuki recognized you were starting to panic at the situation, so he had to make you calm down before anything escalated.
“Okay, I’ll prove to you that it is me.” He hummed, as he thought about a memory only the two of you knew, “Remember when we had our first date and you were laughing very hard, and then I hugged you and-”
“Stop! Okay, I get it, it’s you!” you tossed the knife to the counter and sighed.
“Now that it’s settled… Care to explain why you’re acting like a maniac?”
“I still don’t get why there’s two of you, is the effect of the quirk gone?” Katsuki’s eyes grew even wider.
“What quirk? There is no other me, are you sure you didn’t hit your head, freak?” he then went and took your head in his hands, hunching slightly to analyse your face.
“The quirk that hit you! The one that turned you into a cat? Do you not remember? We can call Izuku and Todoroki…”
“What? Okay, explain everything to me.” You narrated everything that happened since you received the call, the story that the two heroes told you and how you ended up with a cat.
“Those bastards pranked you. I’m gonna fucking Howitzer them into their next lifetime; see if they reincarnate in a cat, tch" he said as he hugged you. He rested his head in yours.
“I can’t believe I got pranked on by Izuku and freaking Shoto! How could I fall for that?!”
“You’re a dumbass” he chuckled “Even the name they made up for the villain sounded fake as fuck, and I wasn't even working with them today!”
“They were really convincing, I swear! Even the cat attacked Izuku, I really thought it was you!”
“He attacked him? We should keep it!”
“By the way, where is he?” you broke the embrace to search for the cat and caught him eating the food directly from the pan. You sighed.
“What should he call him?” Katsuki asked.
“We’re keeping him for real?” you asked surprised.
“Yes, whatever. He seems to like your food, and if he doesn’t like Deku, then it’s a plus.” You smiled while rolling your eyes.
“Then we should call him ‘Lord explosion!” Katsuki scoffed.
“Shut up. At least I didn’t confuse that cat with you and then proceeded to act like a nut case once I saw you.”
“Stop! We are so gonna get back at them for this. But I think we need to take care of Lord explosion first…” the cat was digging in one of your plant pots, which he then used as a litter box…
“Oh shit! Literal shit!”
Tumblr media
Bonus: Sometime later that day...
“Do you think they’ll adopt the cat?” Izuku asked Todoroki. They were patrolling together. “Yes. But I’m sure once (Y/N) discovers that we lied, she will personally come to scold us”. “But we did it for a good cause! How else would they have taken the cat?” “I’m just surprised she fell for it, and found it amusing even…” Todoroki said in a thoughtful voice. Then, Izuku’s phone rang. It was your number. “What do we do?” Izuku’s nervousness evident in his voice. “I’ll answer” Shoto took the phone from Izuku’s hand and tapped the screen to speak with you, “Yes?” “Count your seconds, because we're coming for you two, including Lord explosion” then you hung up. “They’re adopted him” Todoroki shrugged and gave the phone to Izuku. Then, they continued their patrol, watching out for any other civilian or pet in need.

— "So wait, the guy from the airport is staying at our hotel?" Lhea's eyes widened as she leaned closer, her excitement evident as she listened to your story. "Did you get his name?" she asked eagerly. You nodded, grinning. "His name is Lando Norris, I think," you replied, watching as Lhea quickly pulled out her phone to investigate. As she typed, you leaned in to peek at her screen, only to find Lando's Instagram account. "Lhea!" you exclaimed in surprise.
She glanced at you with a smirk. "What? I just want to make sure he's safe for you, and single," she teased, prompting a playful shove from you. "We only met once–" you began, but Lhea interrupted with a finger to your lips. "Twice, actually," she corrected with a grin. Before Lhea could say anything else, the taxi pulled up to your destination. "We're here," announced the driver, and you quickly paid before exiting the car.
Lhea eagerly showed you her phone. "You need to see this," she urged. "F1? Like the fast cars?" you exclaimed. Lhea nodded enthusiastically. "And there's a race today, tomorrow, and on Sunday," she informed you as you walked, her attention divided between her phone and the surroundings.
"Let's discuss this more at Liv's place, okay?" you suggested, slightly concerned about Lhea's distracted walking. She nodded in agreement, turning off her phone and tucking it away. "You're right, we can't leave Olivia out of the conversation," she acknowledged, finally focusing on the path ahead.

Olivia warmly welcomed you and Lhea into her apartment, which looked much the same as your last visit, albeit with a few new additions– mainly, an abundance of cat-related items. You and Lhea settled your bags on the couch as Liv disappeared into her room briefly. "I'm raiding your fridge!" you called out from the kitchen, already opening the refrigerator door in search of a drink. "Go ahead," Liv replied casually, emerging from her room with a ginger cat nestled in her arms.
Instantly drawn to the feline, you and Lhea approached Liv, cooing at the cat, who seemed less than thrilled with the attention. "Why so grumpy?" you cooed, cautiously petting his head as he attempted to bat your hand away. "He's not a fan of meeting new people," Liv explained with a grin. "But look at those adorable white socks!"
Clearly, the three of you shared a love for cats. "Anyways, let's get to the point, shall we? We have somewhere to be in a few hours," Liv said, glancing at her watch. You and Lhea didn't press for details and followed Liv outside to her backyard, where a table and chairs were set up.
Seated comfortably, Liv placed Bib on her lap and turned to you and Lhea. "So, spill. What's the story?" Lhea wore a wide grin as the two of you sat across from her. "Let's start from the beginning, when YN found who had her bag and whose bag she mistakenly took," she began, earning a chuckle from you. "Well, that same person happens to be staying at our hotel. And when I looked him up on Instagram, turns out he's some kind of celebrity–" Lhea's explanation was cut off by Liv's question. "How did you find his Instagram?" she asked, to which Lhea replied, "He introduced himself to YN. Anyway, turns out he's actually an F1 driver."
"No way. Oh my god, talk about coincidence or fate," you and Lhea exchanged confused glances as Liv continued, "Remember when I mentioned we were going to this big event because my brother and his friends couldn't make it?" Lhea grasped your arm as if she had some sort of revelation, while you remained confused. "I can't believe it..." Liv shook her head, a grin spreading across her face. "We're going to watch the race today!" Both Lhea and Liv squealed with excitement, while you sat there, utterly baffled by what was happening.
Glancing at her watch, Liv rose to her feet. "Time to go, let's go!" she exclaimed, prompting you and Lhea to follow suit, still trying to process the whirlwind of events.

Tumblr media
pairing: shōto todoroki x gn! reader
warnings: kissing, reader is gender neutral (no pronouns used), slightly emotionally vunerable todoroki, insecure todoroki, very sweet fluff, innocent romance
genre: fluff oh my god
word count: 2.5k
note: bruh i never expect these to be so long but i start writing and can't stop LMAO anyway todoroki is sooooo yum and also i live for "we have to stay warm" scenarios so... that plus his heat quirk... enjoy!
The winter was supposed to be over; snow turned to slush as the sun did everything it could to melt it all. But night came with freezing temperatures, turning slush into ice underlayers for the new snow to pile on top of. At the start of the winter, it was soft and powdery, but as the season matured, it became thicker, denser, piling into nigh impenetrable snow mounds and filling up every driveway and street until plows came to get rid of it all. They weren’t always successful, so UA elected to cancel classes for the week, deciding it would be better to allow the students a break, both for morale and to prevent any issues from the snow.
Back at the dorms after extra training, you shook ice and snow off your clothes as you left your shoes by the door. Changing clothes was your first task, replacing a sweaty gym uniform with a clean shirt and plaid pajama pants. Even with the cold outside, the dorms stayed warm and the heating system worked overtime to combat the falling temperatures as night came.
Now, you join your classmates in the common area, tuning in to whatever movie they were watching after squishing yourself onto the couch among Mina, Tsu, Jiro, and Hagakure, at Mina’s invitation, trying not to bump Denki, who sits on the arm of the couch right beside you. The others are scattered on the floor beside the couch, engrossed in the action movie on the screen.
A hand bumps your foot as you try to get comfortable. “Oh, sorry.” You look down to see Todoroki sitting below you, back up against the arm of the couch, his arm grazing your leg. He doesn't look at you, so you stay quiet, ignoring how hot your face gets.
You’re the first to admit the movie’s pretty lame, bad CGI paired with a weak plot, but to you, getting to spend time with your classmates is more important than the movie. Everyone else seems to enjoy it, even with Denki’s stage-whispers of, “What just happened?” and, “Who is that guy again?” that somehow make the movie more entertaining.
Snow falls in thick, wet flakes outside the windows, piling onto the small ledges until everything is covered in white as far as the eye could see. You glance again, but you can’t see anything through the flurries whipping around in turbulent circles just outside the building. The lights in the common area flicker a few times, earning a few groans from the others as the movie flickers along with them.
The movie wraps itself up, a satisfying enough ending even for an unsatisfying movie. Mina shuts off the TV, leaving the couch to stretch. “Well, guys, I’m beat! I’m outta here,” she says, wandering down the hall to her room. “Night, everyone!” Most of the others follow her, yawning as they say their goodnights and leave to their rooms.
You and Todoroki are the only ones left, you still on the couch, and him standing about a foot away, stretching with a sigh. His plain black shirt rides up as his arms reach above his head, exposing the waistband of his own pajama pants just below his toned stomach. You’re thankful he stays turned away, embarrassed by your own inability to keep your eyes to yourself. His training has done him justice, He checks his phone and puts it back into his pocket. “I’m heading out, too. See you tomorrow,” he says, always polite.
You yawn in response. “Probably smart. I’ll see you in the morning. Night, Todoroki.”
“Goodnight.” He disappears down the hallway, leaving you to your own devices, alone in the common area.
Your face is hot, even now that he’s gone. Most of the girls in class 1-A agree Todoroki holds the spot for the most attractive boy in the class, and his polite yet relatively aloof demeanor keeps him there. It isn’t like you aren’t friends, so conversation between you isn’t out of the ordinary or shocking, but it still makes you nervous to talk to him. And it especially makes you nervous to be alone with him.
Heaving a sigh, you take the elevator to your room. It’s not very productive to stay awake just thinking about a classmate, so you decide to do some reading, taking a seat on your bed, grabbing your blanket and draping it over yourself.
A low hum echoes through your room as the lights flicker before cutting out completely, leaving the room in pitch black darkness, save for the faint moonlight coming through your small window.
Oh, shit. That’s not good.
You scramble for your bookmark and set your book down, still wrapped in your blanket as you chew on your bottom lip, trying to decide what to do. You continue to wait for the power to turn back on, eventually pulling out your phone to pass the time.
But as the minutes tick by, it’s impossible to ignore the chill in the air. The heat turned off, judging by the silence, and left the dorms with no source of warmth to protect against the bleak weather. That’s really not good.
With no signs of the power returning, you groan, pulling the blanket tighter around your shoulders. What should you do? You can practically see the frostbite forming on your skin as the cold makes its way through your thin blanket. It’s too bad Denki already went to bed a while ago, so you doubt he’s still awake to restart the power.
The dark doesn’t help, and you’re frighteningly alone in your quiet dorm. You turn on your phone flashlight, but you know the weak battery won’t be enough for even another hour. You wish you brought something battery powered to light your room, but you didn’t think that far ahead.
You shut your door tightly behind you as you tiptoe down the hall to the stairs beside the elevator. Hardly anyone ever uses them, but there’s a first time for everything, you suppose. The icy tiles freeze your slippered feet as you walk. Crisp air burns your nostrils as you grip the railing, fingers turning white as the frozen metal draws heat from your skin. The flight of stairs to the fifth floor is much more tedious in the dark, your phone flashlight illuminating every step up.
Reaching your destination, you knock gently on the door, hoping your target isn’t asleep.
No response. You turn to leave, but to your surprise, the door opens, revealing Todoroki. Behind him, soft orange light flickers onto the walls. “Yes?” he says.
“I, uh- was just wondering if you had a candle you could spare me? Because the power, y’know… Well, I figured if anyone would have one, it would be you!” The chattering of your teeth apparently makes you talk a lot, and you have to clamp a frozen hand over your mouth to get words to stop falling from your lips.
He shakes his head, much to your dismay. “No, I’ve only got one, and I’m using it.”
A shiver runs down your spine in the cold hallway. “Oh, that’s okay! Sorry to bother you!” You move to leave, but a warm hand on your shoulder stops you.
“If you want, you could stay here,” he says. “I don’t have any idea how long we’ll be without heat. Or lights. And, I think we’re the only ones still awake.” He steps back into his room.
Your eyes widen, but you go in regardless, feet padding on the tatami mats. It’s still chilly in here, much like your dorm. You’re grateful, however, for the light from the candle and also for his hospitality. He motions to the bed in the corner, gesturing for you to sit. “Thanks, I really didn’t want to just hang out by myself all night,” you say, perching gently at the foot of his bed. “It’s scary with no light.”
“No plans on sleeping?”
You breathe a laugh, fiddling with the hem of your plain shirt, though your fingers are sluggish.  “Can’t really sleep when blankets won’t do much for an eternal cold.”
He sits down on the bed too, but cross-legged at the other end from you. If you weren't so tense, you might have laughed at his respectful nature.  Nodding in understanding, he says, “Ah. I guess it is quite cold.”
It makes sense he didn’t notice. “What about you, Todoroki?” you say. “Burning the midnight oil?”
It’s hard for either of you to ignore the chills that wrack your body, even as you try to stabilize yourself. His eyes widen momentarily, and he stares at you, head tilted. To deny that his room is becoming colder would be impossible for you. It’s like someone opened a window to let more air in, because there’s no way the rooms should lose heat this quickly. You rub your arms, trying to bring any amount of blood flow back. And not to mention the flutter in your stomach at the fact that you are sitting on Todoroki’s bed, at night, alone, something that your female classmates would squeal at.
He seems largely unaffected by the temperature and you being here, but that look on his face remains. Why is he looking at you like that? But he still doesn’t respond to your question, leaving you to clear your throat and try to avoid his gaze. “Are you okay? Is it too cold in here?” he says.
Your head snaps up before you shake it vehemently, waving your hands in the air in front of you. “No! No, I’m fine! R-really, don’t worry about me.” Your feeble attempt to reassure him is admirable, but he’s not convinced.
“Come here,” he says.
You laugh awkwardly, your breath forming a cloud of condensation in front of you. “W- um, what?” You stumble over your words, and you pray he thinks it’s just the cold.
“You’re losing a lot of body heat, and even without light I can see your lips are turning blue. So, come here.” He holds his hands out to you and stretches his legs, staring at you expectantly.
All the remaining heat in your body goes to your cheeks.
Every thought in your head runs rampant as your stiff body crawls over to Todoroki. His hands meet your shoulders, pulling you between his knees with your legs slung over his right thigh. Your side presses into the left side of his chest and his arms wrap around you.
His heat pervades your body, and you shiver in his grasp. Jesus, he’s so warm. Even in the dead of winter, he’s burning hot like sand on a beach in summer, and you couldn’t be more grateful.
“Is this better?” he asks, breaking the silence. Probably an obvious question, but you’re sure his polite nature made him ask anyway.
You nod, swallowing hard. “Yes. Thank you.” Your body warms up, heat blossoming beneath your skin where his body meets yours.
But, as you bring yourself to look up at him and your eyes meet, you’re acutely aware of his hands on your waist, and the way the light from the solitary candle dances on his face, illuminating the jagged, reddish-brown scar that expands over the left side of his face. And his smell — warm and intoxicating, it infiltrates your brain until it short-circuits. Becoming bold with your newfound warmth, you reach a hand up to touch him, but something flashes in his eyes and his hand grips your wrist in an instant, pulling your hand away and making you gasp softly.
His eyes widen and he releases you. “I’m- I’m sorry…” he murmurs.
Hesitant fingers reach again, and this time, your hand connects with his face. His breath hitches reflexively and his eyes dart away from yours in shame. You swear you’ve never seen him like this, so unguarded. You run your fingers over the edge of his scar, where smooth skin meets raised. It’s mesmerizing you think, the way the discoloration feathers out, harsh and delicate edges alike making up the left side of his face. Your palm moves to his cheek and his gaze meets yours again.
The sight is like a punch to the stomach, leaving you breathless as he stares into you, your hand on his face. One brown eye, dark like freshly-brewed black coffee, warm and inviting. The other, blue and glacial, like a cold winter’s night, much like this one. The dichotomy was almost laughable as his blue eye was more akin to night and the other, like day.
Your other hand meets his face and you bring him closer to you. Inches apart, your eyes flitter around his face. Your fingertips slide into his silken hair, making his grip on your waist tighten, palms sweating over your shirt.
“You’re beautiful, Shōto,” you say, and that’s all it takes.
His lips meet yours, unexpectedly gentle, and you can’t help but sigh. Your lids flutter closed and you’re ascending, heart beating out of your chest as you’re convinced heaven is real. Tangling your fingers into his hair, he groans into you and his hands leave your waist for the first time in a long time. You try to keep track of them, but they’re all over you, leaving trails of fire in their wake. No inch of your skin goes untouched, he makes sure of that.
Oh, god. This can’t be real. You can’t help but think of what your classmates would say if they knew you were here tonight. But, on the other hand, what they don’t know can’t hurt them, right?
It’s like he’s a different person, his usual detached persona gone in favor of a gentle, kind boy. He’s careful with you, hands never straying too far downwards as if he’s afraid you’ll brave the frigid halls just to get away. You wish you could tell him you wouldn’t leave, that you won’t, but your desire to keep his lips on yours is all-consuming. He’s addicting, and you can’t seem to get enough. His scent, his taste, everything about him is addling your brain, your only thoughts of this moment, right now.
You move so you’re facing him, kneeling between his legs, no longer in need of the warmth he so graciously gave you. His fingers grab at the hem of your shirt, snaking underneath it to feel your bare stomach, lingering on your hips. You whimper softly into him, and you move to take your shirt off.
Lips leave yours. “Stop,” Todoroki says, and your eyes snap open.
“What’s wrong?” you say, wiping drool off your lips. Did you do something? Did you misread him? Oh, god…
Hands on your shoulders, he sighs. “I don’t want you to think this was my intention.”
You tilt your head at him. “You mean you didn’t… want to kiss me?”
He shakes his head. “No, it’s not that. I… I just feel like I’m taking advantage of you. You didn’t come here for this. I was only supposed to keep you from freezing to death and now-”
“Stop it,” you say, your arms wrapping around the back of his neck. “I don’t think that about you. I came here for a reason, yeah, but… you are keeping me from freezing. But, if you want to stop, we can.”
“I don’t want to.”
At this moment, you knew you were going to have a lot to explain in the morning.

ellie as spiderwoman hcs ✧.* au
a/n- honestly was just an excuse for me to watch spiderman again and i took it, kind of switch between would’ve and did idk babes im just having fun atp
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
she'd have lost her mom at a young age and been placed with joel, who she never gets along with at first, thinking he's just a bil ol meanie who wanted an extra check every month.
that was until he showed he cared, not through hugs and affection in the traditional sense, but making sure she did her homework, picking her up everyday, getting her out of her room, checking on her when she'd been too quiet. "you okay, kiddo?" and "i heard talking helps." he'd say as he leaned on the door frame. eventually, she couldn't help but love him.
absolutely a nerd. though, when she got teased, she didn't exactly back down as expected which landed her in the detention a few times and some talking-to's. but she won and defended herself. no one could be mad at her for that. still, she was smart. she was going to be an astronaut after all. though that dream died in middle school.
high school came and she tried to straighten up. no more fighting bullies, even if they deserved it. she was better than that. she would get an internship, the internship that would line everything up, get her a scholarship so she could study aerospace engineering, get rich and get joel out of the old house on a patch of land with however many sheep he wanted. the same internship that got her bitten by a radioactive spider and shooting webs out her wrists.
words could not describe how much she worried joel when she woke up the day after, crushing her alarm clock, breaking the sink, the shower rack, everything. she skipped that day, hanging out on the rooftop of the house while joel was away stuck between having a panic attack from the sensory overload and telling someone, anyone. she decided on testing them out which earned her quite a few bruises joel luckily chalked up to another fight. "we gotta talk about this fighting thing sometime." she'd roll her eyes, saying something snarky before limping up the stairs. "say what you want but i win," "i heard that!"
also sidebar: ellie as a new yorker...whew. honestly ellie as anything- anyway.
hours or research ensue on cross-species genetics, spiderbites, different types of spiders, everything that made her feel disgusting. she slammed her laptop closed, crushing the poor thing.
it felt like there were a million things to do with her newfound powers but the only two on her mind was impress dina and swing from the rooftops. c’mon, she was 16 with the powers of a freaking spider. who said saving people would the first thing on her mind? she felt powerful, even weirder than she already felt but still powerful.
it was terrible, watching joel get more and more disappointed in her as she got distracted. “i’m a good kid! i just got distracted, gimmie a break.” “i have given you plenty. more than i should’ve. and that’s on me. that's my mistake to make you think that coming home late and fighting and blowing me off is okay.”
“i can't help how i turned out! don't blame me for being a shitty dad.” she yelled before slamming the door and stalking off into who knows where. she didn't even mean it, she was just stressed, she never meant any of it. hours later, she’d wish those words never came out her mouth.
she'd hoped she was having some cruel nightmare when she saw joel laid out on the pavement. "some help me! c-call an ambulance. don't just fucking stand there-" her voice was raw as she screamed out. "c'mon, don't die on me. y-you can't. i'm sorry? is that what you wanna hear? i'm sorry."
she hated the looks of pity, everyone's soft voices. people who never once talked to her suddenly caring. it was all fake. they didn't know her and they sure and hell didn't know joel.
she became another person for a while. quieter, more closed off. sometimes snappy. laser focused on finding the low-life took joel from her. that's when she started wearing the mask. the basic concept of it anyway and it caught on with the people, more than she imagined. ellie scoffed at the name spider-woman at first, thinking it was ridiculous. she wasn't some circus performer, she was just trying to find the killer.
dina as her mj, reaching out to her after joel’s death, inviting her over for dinner, talking to her in class, all of it. it wasn’t the same disingenuous pity she hated, she could feel she cared. so she allowed her feelings to fester. being with her actually helped. it was one more thing to balance with school and the internship and her mission, but it was more person in her life. she needed that.
one day ellie went running towards the trouble. not because joel's killer was there or cause of some adrenaline rush, but because she needed to do something. to not be helpless for once. she wasn't helpless. she hadn't felt completely in control of her body as she webbed a whole bridge back together and pulled cars back onto the surface, but in the end it was a like a high. it still ached to see kids running to their parents and everyone running to their families, but they were all safe. she did that. and that felt better than getting revenge and letting it suck the life out of her. so she'd wear the spandex and the mask and go by the stupid name. only cause it meant something now.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You stood in front of your full-length mirror, adjusting the straps of your black dress. The fabric clung to your body perfectly, but then again, it was custom-made, so of course, it fitted you great. You had been looking forward to this party for weeks, and the thought of going with Sunghoon actually brought a smile to your lips.
Your jewelry sparkled as you reached for your favorite diamond earrings. Everything was perfect. You were perfect. But as your turned to grab your clutch, the door to your room swung open, and your father stepped inside without knocking. The air in the room dropped several degrees as he entered.
"Where do you think you're going?" your father demanded, his voice sharp and cold. His eyes narrowed as he took in your outfit, a look of disapproval settling.
Your heart sank, but you kept your face neutral. You have become really good at that now, keeping your face natural and not showing any emotions. "I'm going to a party," you replied calmly, turning back around to the mirror to apply your final touch of lipstick. "It's a big event. I've been invited by—"
"I don't care who invited you," your father interrupted you, his tone harsh. 'What I care about, however, are your grades, which are slipping. A lot."
You froze, your hand hovering over your vanity. You had expected this conversation at some point, but not tonight. Not when you were so close to leaving and actually having fun.
You took a deep breath and turned to face him. "My grades are fine, Father," you said, trying to keep your voice steady. "I have everything under control."
"Is that what you called under control?" he scoffed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I heard that you're not at the top of your classes anymore. Do you think that's acceptable? Is that what we expect from you?"
You wanted to argue, to tell him that you were doing your best, but it wouldn't matter. He had already made up his mind anyway, and nothing you said would change that.
"You're going to too many parties," he continues, his voice growing colder. "You're wasting your time and ours with all this nonsense. Do you want to bring shame to us? To our name?"
You felt a sharp sting in your chest, but you didn't flinch. You had learned a long time ago not to show weakness in front of him. Instead, you just fixed your gaze on the floor. "Why can't you be more like your brother?" he said, his voice full of disdain. "Mingyu has never once embarrassed this family. He's excelling everywhere. He understands what it means to be responsible, to carry the weight of the family's reputation. And that's precisely why he has such a high position in the family's business. A position you'll never earn if you continue to live like a spoiled little socialite."
The comparison to Mingyu stunk, but it was nothing new. Your brother had always been the golden child, the perfect heir, and you had always known you could never live up to the impossibly high standard. You could feel the urge to yell back at him, the scream, but you knew better. "You're lucky you're mother is too soft to deal with properly, but I expect you to straighten out, yn,"
You swallowed hard, "Yes father, I unsterstand," you said, your voice as steady as possible. You felt the tears coming to your eyes, but you bit your lip to stop them from spilling.
"Now, go to that party tonight. It's the only thing you're good at anyway," he said. With that, he turned his heel and walked out of your room, your mother just behind her, as you knew she would spend the entire night trying to calm him down so he wouldn't break another expensive vase in the house. You turned to your mirror, making sure your makeup didn't budge and you reapplied your lipstick, before grabbing your clutch and stepping outside the house.
Meanwhile, Sunghoon pulled up to your house right on time, his sleek black car idling quietly as he waited for you to come out. He had texted you that he was outside, but as the minutes tickled by, he had a strange feelings. You were always punctual, almost obsessively so. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, his eyes flicking to the front door every few seconds
Finally, the door opened. You looked stunning, as always—the definition of perfection. But something was off. Even from a distance, he could tell. You walked slowly, almost hesitantly, and when you got closer, he noticed your slightly red and puffy eyes.
His concern spiked, and he quickly got out of the car and walked around to meet you. "Hey princess, are you okay?" he said softly.
You forced a smile, but it didn't reach your eyes like usual. You nodded quickly, trying to brush past him to get in the car. "Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go."
But he wasn't convinced. He gently grabbed your arm. "Yn, talk to me. What's going on?"
Your froze, your back still turning to him. You wanted to keep the act, but you could still feel the words of your father on you. You tried to take a deep breath, to hold it together. "I said I'm fine, Sunghoon."
He stepped closer when he noticed your shoulders started shaking and your voice trembling. His grip on your arm tightened slightly. "You don't have to be. Not with me."
That did it. Before you could stop yourself, tears started streaming down your face. You turned to him, your perfect composure crumbling as you buried your face in your hands. "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry, Hoon," you sobbed.
He didn't hesitate. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close as your cried into his chest. It was rare, you never cried in front of anyone, but right now, you couldn't hold it anymore.
"Hey, it's okay. You don't have to apologize. Just let it out," he whispered, gently stroking your hair. You clung to him, your body shaking with sobs as you finally let everything out. Sunghoon held you tightly, his heart aching for you as he realized just how much you had been holding in. "What happened?"
"It's my father. I'm never enough, I'm always the disappointment," you said through your tears. "he thinks I'm wasting my life, that I'm bringing shame to the family. He called me a spoiled socialite, and the worst is, I know he's right."
Sunghoon's jaw clenched at your words, anger flaring up inside him. He couldn't believe someone could say something so cruel to their own daughter, especially someone so strong as you.
"He's wrong. He just doesn't know what he's talking about," he said gently.
You shook your head, "But he's always like this. Every time my grades slip just a little, it's the same thing. I'm always compared to Mingyu, and I can never measure up," you looked at him, your eyes filled with pain but also frustration. You were just so tired. "I don't even know why I'm telling you all this," you voice broke as you spoke, and you dropped your gaze to look at his shoes. "I usually go to Hee when things gets this bad because he understands, but—"
"You can come to me now," he cut you, his voice firm. "I'm here for you, yn."
You sniffled, wiping at your eyes with the back of your hand. You were embarrassed by your outburst, but his words were comforting in a weird way. He tilted your chin up to look at him. "Listen to me, okay? You’re not a disappointment. You’re incredible. Anyone who can’t see that doesn’t deserve you in their life."
Your searched his eyes, looking for any sign of pity, but all you saw was genuine care and concern. "Thank you, hoon. I just... I feel so lost sometimes."
He cupped your face in his hands, wiping away the tears with his thumbs. "I know, sweetheart. But you're not alone, okay?"
You nodded, leaning into his touch. For the first time in a long rime, you felt like you could finally breathe again. "Do you still wanna go to this party?" he said gently, studying your face.
You hesitated. You knew you were expected to be there, to maintain your reputation, but after everything that had happened, the mere thought of putting on a brave face for a crowd seemed exhausting.
"I kinda have to..." you said softly.
Sunghoon shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "I didn't ask if you had to, princess. I asked if you wanted to."
You finally shook your head, a tiny, almost imperceptible movement. "Not really, no," your voice was merely above a whisper.
His smile widened, and he gently kissed your forehead. "Then let's not go."
"But what will people think?" you asked, looking at him in surprise.
"Who cares?" he shrugged "The most important thing is to make you feel better. We'll do something else instead."
"Like what?"
"How about," you could see his eyes sparkle, as a smirk appeared on his lips, "we hit up a diner instead. We'll get some greasy burgers, fries, milkshakes. Just you and me. How does that sound?"
You blinked in surprise. You hadn't eaten junk food in god knows how long. It wasn't something that fit your little image, with the lifestyle you were supposed to maintain. But weirdly enough, that sounded amazing right now. "That actually sounds really good."
"Then let's go, I know just the place," he opened the car door for you and you stepped inside.
As you drove off, you felt a sense of peace you hadn’t felt in a long time.
_____________
Sunghoon and you had chosen a booth near the window, away from the main crowd, and the mood had quickly lightened. He ordered a ridiculous amount of food; you couldn't help but laugh at the amount.
"Do you really think we can eat all of this?"
"You're the one who needs to keep up appearances, not me," he said teasingly, picking up a fry from the plate. "and you need some junk food. It's good for the soul."
You chuckled, dipping the fry in ketchup before taking a bite. "I guess I can make an exception this once, but don't tell anyone. I have a reputation to maintain."
"Your secret’s safe with me, princess," he said, throwing you a wink, "but I’m telling you, you might get hooked after this."
You both laughed, and you felt some of the tension from earlier start to melt. It was easy with Sunghoon. He kept the conversation light and funny, telling you stories about some ridiculous things that happened to him in his old school. It felt like the weight of the world had lifted off your shoulders.
But as the laughter faded, your eyes cuaght a group of students from your school sitting a few booths away. They were whispering and glancing over at you, clearly recognizing who you were. The familiar feeling of anxiety started to creep back in, but before you could dwell on it, Sunghoon noticed. Without missing a beat, he reached across the table and gently tilted your chin so you were looking at him instead.
"Hey, don't worry about them," his voice was soft as he bored into your eyes. "Just focus on me."
You blinked, surprised by the gesture, but the warmth in Sunghoon’s eyes made the anxiety dissipate. You softly nodded.
As the night went on, the conversation shifted from light banter to something deeper. He opened up about his family, something he hadn't discussed before. Or at least, not with you.
"So, you know how everyone at school assumes I’m just some guy who got in on merit?" he said casually, leaning back into the cushion. You nodded, intrigued. You had wondered about his background but hadn't pried. There was no way a guy from a modest background would dress that well and with fancy items.
"Well," he smirked, "it's not exactly true. My family’s pretty well off—nothing like yours, of course—but we’re comfortable. My dad runs a tech company, and my mom’s a fashion designer."
You raised an eyebrow. "Really? You never mentioned that before. Why keep it a secret?"
He shrugged. "I just like to keep it low profile. I didn’t want to be known as ‘the rich kid.’ Plus, it’s kinda fun seeing people underestimate me."
You grinned. "Now it makes sense why you always look so put together. You’ve got fashion in your blood."
Sunghoon laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess so. But honestly, my family’s pretty low-key compared to yours. We’re not in the public eye as much, and I kind of like it that way. My parents always encouraged me to do my own thing, and I appreciate that."
You found yourself genuinely intrigued. "It sounds like your parents really care about you," you said, your tone thoughtful.
"They do," Sunghoon agreed, his expression softening. "They’ve always been supportive, even when I made some pretty dumb decisions. I’m lucky to have them."
You nodded, feeling a pang of something you didn’t want to name. "You are lucky," you said quietly. "But I’m glad you shared that with me. It’s nice to know more about you."
"I guess it takes me a little time to open up," he said, chuckling. Your eyes caught his and you stared at each other for a bit, before he cleared his throat, breaking your trance. "Now, how about we finish these fries before they get cold?"

thinking about getting rescued by Connor and Murphy Macmanus. you're making ends meet, living in a shitty apartment in boston when some jackass in the russian mob decides that extorting your landlord isn't enough anymore. you come home to find huge, scary thugs roaming the halls of your building, banging on doors and demanding money. they try to shake you down, but you... you're not going to give up, and you're certainly not going to let them win without a fight. thankfully, god doesn't hate you quite as much as you worried he might, because you live in the same building as Rocco's girl. she sees what's happening out there and makes a call. the russian mob doesn't find your plucky attitude as endearing as you'd hoped, and you're about to pass out when two mysterious figures burst in, shooting up every gangster in the place. they get closer to you, muttering something to each other you can't make out, and one of them gently picks you up before everything goes black.
you wake up hours later just before dawn in... the shittiest, crustiest apartment you've ever seen. you're still a little out of it, and two guys - who you can only assume are the same ones from before - crouch next to you, speaking in gentle voices and comforting irish accents.
"You're alright sweetheart." the first one says. you think he's the one who carried you out.
"You're safe here." the other adds.
"Those assholes got you pretty good-"
"Put up one hell of a fight though," the second one chuckles, earning a smack on the back of the head from the first.
"Just try to get some more rest, and we'll check on you soon."
you try to agree, but you're exhausted and out like a light before you know it, managing a "hmmmf" in response before you pass back out.
you wake up properly a few hours later, and it takes you a few moments to orient yourself, to realize you're not in this apartment because of a drunken one night stand. you stretch stiffly, still achy and sore from the fight, and stand up to quietly look around. the apartment is empty, but it's worse than you thought it would be. this place is... a dump. a bachelor owned dump, based on the comical lack of furniture or decorations. you don't know what you're supposed to do until those guys get back, but you don't... not trust them. not yet, anyway. so you tidy up a little. you throw out the trash and wipe down the counters and tables. you spray a little lemon cleaner on the windows and make their beds. you find a pile of pillows and blankets on the ground, and realize they slept in the other room so you wouldn't be uncomfortable.
when Connor and Murphy return in their bathrobes pajama pants and work boots, hang their rosaries up on the nails by the door, and set down the breakfast foods and ingredients they just got from the corner store, they pause. something feels... different. there aren't any coffee rings in the kitchen, or tumbled piles of beer caps from their numerous contests seeing who can make the highest stack. things smell fresher, feel... nicer. you walk into the kitchen, hanging up a fresh dish towel over the oven rack when you notice they're back. you startle a little, and they both smile.
"Oh!" you exclaim, "Sorry... I didn't know when you guys would be back, so I just tidied up a little. I hope you don't mind." you say, almost sheepishly. they share a look, then turn their attention back to you.
"You did all this?" asks Connor, then he nudges Murphy. "We got ourselves a regular snow white."
Murphy laughs, looking at your handiwork.
"I didn't know it was possible." He says back to his brother. "The kitchen floor is white. Did you know the kitchen floor was supposed to be white?"
The Macmanus brothers like you. they find you sweet, and charming. they want to protect you and keep you safe from the scum in this city. since your apartment building is still a mess and crawling with members of the russian mob, you let them convince you to stay for a few days. of course it doesn't end up being just a few days, and no matter what a rough day they have cleaning up the city, they're always excited to get home, flop down on the couch (the one you got them, and the only thing tying the interior look of their apartment together) crack open a couple cold beers, and spend the night with their best girl.

The darkness was all encompassing, the threads of magic tugging at her from every direction. The air was thick with bursts of energy, swirling and dancing around her like moths drawn to a flame. Her concentration remained fixed on one singular object in her mind, its form and power consuming her thoughts. She could feel its pull, its call to her own magical abilities. With determination and focus, she reached out and whispered the incantation, "Quaerere obiectum cum porta" as she gestured with her hands the different symbols.
As Neri opened her eyes, the room was silent. She could sense the powerful flow of her weave energy as it manifested in front of her. A dimensional door had materialized, pulsing with vibrant purple hues. With a deep breath to steady her nerves, Neri stepped forward and placed all her faith in this creation of hers. The feeling of being transported through dimensions was disorienting and nauseating, but soon enough she landed on solid ground once again.
She looked around at her new surroundings, taking in the empty tabern with its wooden furnishings and dimly lit lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The only source of noise came from a gnome bartender who was wiping down glasses behind the counter, and two other patrons - an orc and a human woman - sitting at opposite ends of the room. The three of them were looking at her with shocked expressions, their jaws dropped in disbelief.
"By Odin's beard, 'tis high time I lay off the ale," the orc muttered, breaking the silence.
Neri couldn't help but grimace. "My apologies," she said, feeling embarrassed. "It seems like I ended up in the wrong place."
After a small curtsy, she retreated back into the swirling portal and landed with a thump on her bedroom floor once more. Letting out a sigh, she began the process of closing yet another unsuccessful interdimensional door.
"Where was it this time? A Duke's mansion? The middle of the sea? The astral plane, maybe?"
Eiruk's voice interrupted her thoughts. Neri looked up to see him sitting on her bed, tossing the small planet-shaped crystal between his hands.
With a grunt, she brushed off her robes and grumbled "A tabern."
The boy's laughter resembled that of a hyena's as he responded,
"Wait, really?! That's hilarious. Maybe I should be trying this portal spell too. It would definitely make sneaking out much easier."
Eiruk's comment earned an eye roll from Neri as she took a seat on her bed next to him. She was still disappointed about their failed attempt at finding the crystal that he now held in his hand.
"It's not funny," she pouted. "I really thought I had it this time. Where were you, anyway?"
He simply shrugged. "I was holding it in my bedroom. I came to check when I felt the disturbance in the weave."
Neri rested her head on her hand, her gaze fixed on the ball in Eiruk's grasp. "I can't believe I can't even locate this object in the neighboring room," she muttered to herself. "How in the nine hells am I supposed to find three stones that could be hidden anywhere along the Crionthar?!"
He chuckled and tossed the crystal back to her. "Well, as much as I enjoy watching you fling yourself into different dimensions, I think it's time we take a breather."
She let out a frustrated groan. It was true, she had been searching for that cursed piece of crystal all over the academy for the entire day, simulating it was a Netherese stone, and trying to open a safe passage to it.
However, all her efforts had only resulted in opening gates nowhere near it. Hells, the doors hadn't even lead inside the tower.
"I can't stop now," she said, running a hand through her hair. "I need to make this work. I have to."
Eiruk looked up at her with concern in his eyes. "You've been obsessing over this for days now," he said softly, "why is it that important anyway? You have a whole year to finish the research."
No, I only have three months, she thought to herself, but instead Neri avoided Eiruk's gaze, feeling guilty for keeping the truth from him. She couldn't risk involving him in her family matters, especially when he was already dealing with so much helping with the recovery of the Academy and his own research project.
"It's... complicated," she finally said, not meeting his eyes.
Eiruk's expression turned understanding and he gave her a sympathetic smile. "I won't pry," he said softly. "But just know that I'm here for you if you ever need to talk."
Neri felt her heart clenching with guilt at his words. She mustered up a smile and responded, "Thank you for understanding."
He grinned, reaching for her hand. "I'll be there, no doubt about it," he said before smirking. "But don't think you can use emotional talks to get out of going to the city with me tonight."
She let out a frustrated groan. "I really can't..."
But Eiruk stood his ground. "Consider it my payment for helping you throughout the day," he said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Despite her efforts to resist, she couldn't help but chuckle at his determination.
"Okay, but we have to be back before the sun sets. And please don't try to charm any gnomes this time. I can't afford to get kicked out of another place."
Eiruk stood with a jump and extended a hand to her. "It's a deal," he said with a grin.
She took it and pulled herself off the bed, her muscles protesting from the day's exertion. She had been so focused on her magical training that she'd forgotten about the physical toll its continuous usage could take.
As Neri and Eiruk made their way through the halls of the academy, Neri couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and excitement at the thought of taking a break from her research. Eiruk's cheerful chatter about how they never did anything fun only added to her growing anticipation.
They soon reached Corlin's room and found him hunched over a pile of scrolls on his desk.
"Corlin!" Eiruk exclaimed, startling the blonde out of his concentration.
Corlin looked up with a raised eyebrow. "What is it? Did you get into another mess, Eiruk?" he asked, eyeing them both suspiciously.
"Ugh, always thinking the worst of me Cor! No, we're going out for some fun tonight," Eiruk said with a grin.
Corlin stared at her for a moment before breaking into a rare smile. "Did you agree to this, Neri?"
She nodded, smiling back at him. "I could use a break from all this research and magic," she said.
Corlin's smile widened. "Then count me in."
The trio made their way out of the academy sneaking into the bustling streets of Waterdeep. If Vanja knew of their whereabouts she would no doubt be pissed at them for not getting enough rest to be centered in their resposabilities, but she had never caught them before. As they made their way out of the academy and onto the bustling streets of Waterdeep, Neri couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. It had been so long since she'd been out for fun in the city, let alone at night.
Eiruk led the way, his footsteps light and confident as he weaved through the crowds. Corlin followed close behind, his sharp eyes scanning their surroundings for any potential dangers.
Neri stuck close to her friends, taking in all the sights and sounds around them. The smell of sizzling street food filled her nostrils, and she could hear the lively chatter of merchants and patrons alike. Lanterns hung overhead, casting a warm glow over everything.
As they made their way deeper into the city and into the North Ward, Eiruk suddenly stopped in front of a tavern with a boisterous sign that read "The Grinning Lion."
"This is it!" Eiruk exclaimed, looking back at Neri and Corlin with a grin.
Corlin raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Are you sure this is where we want to spend our evening? Only boring young nobles frequent this place."
Eiruk scoffed. "Come on, Cor! Don't judge a book by its cover. The Grinning Lion is one of the most lively and entertaining places in all of Waterdeep."
"I'm not one for lively and entertaining," Corlin muttered, but he followed Eiruk and Neri inside nonetheless. The interior of the tavern was just as lively as its exterior. The air was thick with the smell of ale and sweat, and the sound of raucous laughter filled Neri's ears.
Eiruk led them to a table in the corner where they could see everything going on without being too conspicuous.
"Let's start with some drinks," Eiruk said, moving over to the bar to order.
As they waited for their drinks, Neri took a moment to observe Corlin. He looked brighter than usual, his blue eyes glittering with excitement. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of how much he had grown since they first met.
Back then, he was barely a teenager – all lanky limbs and a mess of golden locks covering his eyes. But now, as she watched him scan the room with a sense of wonder and curiosity, she saw a handsome young wizard, full of potential and promise.
"Hey, stop staring," Corlin said with a smirk as he caught her looking at him.
Neri rolled her eyes. "I can't help it. You are so grown up, Cor."
Corlin chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I'm not that different, Neri. Just a bit taller," he murmured.
"Oh, Corlin, you have no idea," Eiruk said as he placed three tankards of ale on the table. "You should see how much she used to mother you when we were growing up."
Neri glared at Eiruk playfully before taking a sip of her ale. It was bitter and strong, but she enjoyed the warmth it brought to her body. They laughed and clinked their mugs together, their drinks sloshing onto the wooden table. Everyone around them was caught in their own world of joy and laughter, it felt so liberating to be just one amongst the crowd, unnoticed and unburdened.
Eiruk was in full form tonight, delighting them with his amusing anecdotes and witty remarks. Corlin listened attentively, laughing heartily at Eiruk's recounting of an incident where he accidentally turned himself into a sheep during his first year at Blackstaff Academy. Neri watched them both, suddenly overcome with affection for the two who had become her family in all but blood.
Neri's laughter ceased abruptly as a sharp chill ricocheted down her spine. She spun around in her seat, scanning the bustling crowd until her eyes landed on a familiar face - her father's. Her heart pounded in her chest as their gazes locked, and she didn't know whether to run or stay frozen in place.
Panic set in, and she quickly turned back to Eiruk and Corlin.
"We have to go," Neri said urgently, her voice barely above a whisper.
Eiruk looked at her in confusion, clearly a little tipsy. "What's wrong?"
Neri didn't want to cause a scene, but she knew they needed to leave before it was too late. "My father is here," she said, her voice trembling.
Corlin's expression turned serious as he glanced around the room. "Shit. Don't worry, we can-"
But before he could finish his sentence, Neri's father had already made his way to their table.
Her father's tone was disapproving and frigid as he asked, "So this is how you choose to neglect your responsibilities?"
Neri felt a tight knot form in her stomach as she stood up to face him, Eiruk and Corlin following suit. She couldn't believe this was the first time he was adressing her in months.
"Father, I...I just wanted to have a night out with my friends," she tried to reason, but her father's stern expression didn't waver.
Arsten Thunderstaff glanced back and forth between her and her friends, a disapproving look on his face. "You have responsibilities to attend to, Neri," he scolded. "And it doesn't involve indulging in drinks and wasting your time with these...commoners. That's not why we allowed you to attend Blackstaff Academy."
Eiruk bristled at the insult while Corlin stepped forward, ready to defend Neri. But she placed a hand on his arm, silently pleading for them to not make the situation worse.
"Father, they're my friends," she said firmly. "And I don't see why I can't spend my free time with them."
Her father's gaze hardened once again, "
"Your leisure time should be devoted to preparing for your future role in our esteemed wizarding family, as that is more important than anything else. You are a valued member of one of the most respected families in all of Waterdeep, Neriyra," he reminded her sternly.
"I know that," Neri replied through gritted teeth, struggling to keep her composure, "you remind me of it every damned day."
"Then start acting like it," Arsten said firmly before turning on his heel and walking away.
Neri stood frozen, watching her father getting out of the busy tavern. She took a deep breath, trying to push down the anger and frustration that was bubbling inside her.
"I'm sorry," she said quietly to her friends, feeling guilty for ruining their night out.
Eiruk put a comforting hand on her shoulder, while Corlin spoke up in indignation.
"He has no right to speak to you like that. Or us, for that matter."
Neri forced a smile at her friends, grateful for their support. "It's alright," she said, though it was anything but. "Let's just...finish our drinks and go."
Eiruk and Corlin both nodded, worry evident on their faces. As they left the tavern and made their way through the crowded streets of Waterdeep, Neri couldn't help but feel the weight of her father's words bearing down on her. Eventually, they reached the entrance to Blackstaff tower and Neri let out a sigh of relief. The familiar stone walls provided some comfort amidst the chaos of the night; this was her true home, after all.
"I need to take care of some business before going back. You'll be alright now?" Eiruk asked, still clearly worried.
"I'll be fine," Neri reassured him with a small smile. "Thank you for coming tonight. It was fun."
"Yeah, we should repeat soon," Eiruk replied with a small smile before heading off towards the dark hallways.
Corlin lingered at Neri's side, his gaze filled with concern. "I will walk you to your bedroom," he said softly.
Neri nodded gratefully, leaning on her friend for support as they made their way through the familiar corridors of Blackstaff tower. She couldn't shake off the feeling of disappointment and anger that still lingered from her encounter with her father.
Corlin hesitated before speaking up again.
"You know, Neri, I never understood why your father is so hard on you," he said softly as they walked through the quiet hallways of Blackstaff tower.
Neri sighed, her thoughts still consumed by her argument with Arsten. "It's just how he is," she replied with a shrug.
"But it's not fair. You have more magical talent in your pinky finger than most wizards have in their entire body," Corlin insisted, his frustration evident in his voice.
Neri smiled weakly at her friend's words. Corlin was always quick to defend her and boost her confidence when she needed it most. "Thank you, Corlin," she said sincerely. It was a small gesture, but it meant everything to her in that moment. She had always felt like an outcast among her own family, but Corlin and Eiruk had never made her feel that way.
His voice trembled as they reached Neri's room. He couldn't keep his eyes off her, and finally whispered, "You know," he started, unable to meet her gaze, "you don't have to face this alone. I... we'll always be here for you."
His words brought a lump to Neri's throat. She nodded mutely, finding herself momentarily overwhelmed with emotion.
The younger boy took a step and grabbed her into his arms, and she took the moment to hug him tightly. He felt warm and solid, a rock she could grab into, even on the darkest moments. Neri closed her eyes, breathing in the familiar scent of wood smoke, lavender, and the earthy smell of books, a comforting aroma that enveloped her like an embrace.
Eventually, they pulled away from each other and Neri gave Corlin a small smile. "I think I'm going to turn in for the night."
Corlin nodded understandingly. "Get some rest. Tomorrow is a new day."
Neri gave him a grateful nod before entering her room and closing the door behind her.
The next evening, Neri found herself once again entering Gale's studio with a stack of scrolls perched precariously on her arms. Despite her determination to figure out the combination spell on her own, she couldn't help but feel a sense of defeat as she approached her mentor.
"I'm sorry," she began, interrupting Gale's work yet again. "I know I am interrupting over and over, but I can't seem to find the right way to locate the object while also evaluating the surroundings to create a successful gate. I don't know what else to do." She let out a frustrated sigh as she dropped all her belongings gingerly on a nearby table.
"My dear Neri, you are like a reflection of myself. Yes, as a young man I too thirsted for knowledge like a parched wanderer in the desert." He said wistfully from somewhere inside the room.
Neri let out a small chuckle at Gale's dramatic statement. She scanned the place looking for her mentor. "Why do you speak as if you were fifty? You are still young!"
"I have spent many years studying and honing my magical abilities, giving me a unique perspective on life," Gale replied as he emerged from behind a pile of papers.
Neri grinned, and then was taken aback by the sight of him looking... revitalized. His skin had some color back, and he appeared refreshed with clean clothes and hair falling in soft waves around his face and shoulders. She felt her cheeks flush slightly at the sight of him.
"You look much better." She blurted. What? Why did she say that?
Gale chuckled, running a hand through his now clean hair, and looked to be blushing a little. "I have been known to clean up nicely when I put my mind to it. A good night's rest or two also does wonders," his eyes posed on her, "you look like you need it yourself."
A rosy flush spread across Neri's cheeks as Gale's words hit her, but she made a conscious effort to keep looking directly into his eyes. Despite the awkwardness, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that the wizard seemed to be doing better.
Clearing her throat, she gestured towards the scrolls on the table, "Well, the lack of sleep means I have been able to dig on the combination spell, and as I said, I'm still struggling with it and was hoping you could offer some insights. Do you think it could be the incantation causing issues? Or perhaps my mental state isn't properly centered?"
Gale smiled, gesturing for Neri to sit down at the soft orange sofa with him. "Let's take a look at what you have so far."
Neri quickly made her way next to the wizard and spread out her scrolls and notes in front of them. Gale studied them intently, muttering under his breath every now and then. After a few minutes, he leaned back with a thoughtful expression.
"I think I can see where you are struggling," he said. "You are on the right track with the combination spell, but I think you may be overcomplicating it."
Neri furrowed her brows, "What do you mean?"
Gale went on, "To successfully find and create a dimensional door, precision and focus are crucial. But attempting to combine it with another spell, like location, is splitting that concentration. Perhaps the solution is to view it as one cohesive conjuration instead of two separate ones."
"That's a great suggestion," she said eagerly. "But how would I go about approaching it as one conjuration instead of two?"
Gale smiled, "Think of it like this - when you combine ingredients to make a potion, you don't mix them separately and then pour them together. You add them all at once and let them blend into one cohesive mixture."
Neri nodded, "So I just need to find a way to seamlessly merge the two spells together during the incantation instead of focusing so much on them independently?"
"Exactly," Gale confirmed. "It may take some trial and error, but I believe that is the key to successfully casting this combination spell."
"I see..." Neri thought to herself, taking a moment to process Gale's words. "But why don't you do it yourself then? It seems like you could do it much faster and easier than I am."
He seemed lost in thought for a moment before finally meeting her gaze with a small smile.
"I am afraid my condition makes me too frail to conjure any complex spells."
Neri could sense a hint of sadness in his voice and she immediately regretted her words. She wanted to ask him more about the condition, but she barely knew him, and felt like it might come off as a little intruding.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude. I just worry that it will take too much time for me to perfect it on my own. We are running out of time, after all..." She sighed sadly. It's not that she thought she lacked the skills; but mastering it would probably require several months of learning and practicing. And that wasn't even counting the time it would take to find the stones.
After pondering for a few seconds, Gale spoke up again. "You are right. Perhaps we could utilize my limited weaving abilities to guide you through the process?"
Neri's eyes widened with excitement.
"You mean we can combine both our spells into one? I never even thought that was a possibility."
Gale nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "I could cast the locate spell and guide you through opening the dimensional door.
It would require us to channel the weave together and meld ourselves into one cohesive force, but I believe it would be a more feasible task than attempting it alone."
The thought of merging her consciousness with Gale's was both thrilling and terrifying. It was a level of intimacy Neri had never dared to try before, not even with her closest friends. She pictured their minds intertwining, their thoughts and emotions blending into one swirling confluence of energy. It was a daunting prospect, but if it meant the success of their mission, she would do it.
She nodded resolutely at Gale, offering him a small smile. "I'm willing to try."
His eyes also held a spark of excitement. "Very well. You must know, it will not be an easy task, but I believe in us. We are both outstanding wizards, after all."
Neri laughed softly as he stood and reached out a hand to help her up from her seat. Together, they walked towards the center of the room where there was enough space for their spell. They sat opposite each other, palms pressed together, and concentrated on channeling their magic. Neri could sense Gale's energy merging with hers, bringing a comforting warmth and renewed vigor. Sharing the same Weave was an intimate act, almost like a gentle whisper or tender touch.
The air around them began to hum, and Neri could feel a warm tingling sensation coursing through her veins.
"Ah-Thran Mystra-Ryl Kantrach-Ao," Gale chanted softly, his voice blending harmoniously with Neri's. She felt a surge of power within her at the sound of the words, and then her own sense of self fading away as she became one with Gale's consciousness. She could sense him: concentration, relaxation and... pain. So deep she almost faltered. He kept it so well hidden behind his humor, his verbosity and his infectious enthusiasm, it was hard to believe it was there. Gale's pain was a cold, dark undercurrent that Neri could tell it was a deeply rooted issue, likely tied to his condition.
"Now, let's try to combine the location spell with the dimensional door spell," he whispered through the connection they now shared with a mix of effort and exhilaration. "Keep breathing. Keep flowing."
As Gale and Neri stood facing each other, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She could feel his magic humming in the air, creating a slight pressure in the back of her head. While her magic felt consuming but messy, his felt small yet precise. With Gale's steady guidance, she followed the trace of his location enchantment until she found the perfect point to open the gate between their worlds. Neri focused all her energy on that spot, channeling it into a stable connection and muttering the words for the door spell. As she did so, she could feel the power of their combined weave intensify, creating a tingling sensation throughout her body. Suddenly, a bright light burst forth from the spot they had been focusing on, growing larger and brighter until it formed into a shimmering portal before them.
"We did it!" Neri exclaimed in amazement as she opened her eyes. When she turned, Gale was looking at her with a soft smile. She could feel the warmth in his gaze, and it brought a sense of comfort and belonging to her. With their magic still intertwined through the Weave, Neri could sense his genuine pride in what they had just accomplished together.
But just a moment later, the portal made a loud sizzling noise and closed with a sharp pop. She felt her spirits deflate as their efforts seemed to have been in vain. Gale, on the other hand, couldn't help but laugh at her disappointment.
"Ah, don’t be so downtrodden about the situation. It was amazing for our first try!", he sat up and began to stretch, “You are really quite excellent at learning things quickly, you know that?”
A warm feeling spread through Neri's chest, and she couldn't help but smile at Gale's praise.
"Really?" she asked timidly.
“Absolutely!” Gale beamed at her,
“You have a natural talent for grasping the intricacies of magic that I still struggle with, despite my years of experience. Trust me, it's not easy to adjust one's own spell casting to match that of another wizard."
She didn't need words to understand the authenticity in his message; their bond gave her all the confirmation she required. A pleasant sensation radiated from Neri's core, and she couldn't help but break into a smile upon hearing Gale's compliment. "I appreciate that," she replied with gratitude.
Gale chuckled and ruffled her hair gently. "Now come on, let's take a break and grab some dinner. We can resume our practice once we've filled our bellies."
"What? But we barely started practicing," she protested.
"We did, but I can sense your stomach grumbling, and I think it's telling us that lunch is more essential than magic training right now. Plus, we need to fuel up before we dive back into magic. For what good is a magic practice without nourishment to power it? It is like trying to start a fire without kindling, futile and fruitless." he added.
"I- I couldn't possibly accept Mast- Gale. I would not want to impose on you."
"Nonsense, my dear. Nurturing your mind and body is not an imposition but a crucial part of our journey towards mastery. Besides, I owe it to you for helping me clean this room the other day." he adds with a cheeky grin "And I might add, I am an outstanding cook, for that matter."
She is about to refuse again, but her stomach chooses that moment to grumble loudly. Traitor.
Gale just laughed and pulled her up from the floor.
"I'll take that as a yes. Now let's go fetch some food before my apprentice starves to death."
Neri couldn't help but roll her eyes at Gale's dramatic flair. "Fine, but only this once," she relented.
"Excellent, then it's decided," Gale said with a wide grin. He glanced at Neri, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Prepare yourself for a feast."
Neri quirked an eyebrow, trying to hold back a smile. She doubted of his cooking skills after seeing the mess of his office the previous day, "I'll believe it when I see it."
As they strolled together towards the kitchen, Neri couldn't help but feel a newfound bond between them. The magic they shared had brought them closer in an unexpected way. Even with her previous Master, who was also around the same age as Gale, she had never felt this way. With Gale, it felt more like a genuine friendship, where he saw her as an equal rather than just a student. But then again, maybe it was just the effects of the Weave connection.
Once they reached the first floor, Gale moved confidently toward the kitchens, leaving Neri to follow in his wake. He slipped an apron over his wizard tunic, tying it at the back with ease. It was clear he'd done this before. Neri observed him as he worked, transfixed by the way he moved around the kitchen – so different from the erratic energy he possessed during magic practice.
"Sit," he ordered gently, pointing to a wooden stool on the other side of the counter. "And prepare your palate for my immaculate Hundur sauce."
Neri obeyed, surprised by Gale's assertiveness in this setting. As he started chopping vegetables, Neri couldn't resist asking, "How are you such a good cook?"
"Master Dekarios had a lot of free time while he was alone in his tower." Tara said as she appeared behind Neri, her fluffy tail wagging slowly.
Gale coughed akwardly "Well, it was more of a necessity, and in the beginning, I was terrible at it. But with practice and some helpful tips from my mother, I managed to become somewhat good."
Tara meowed loudly, seemingly agreeing with Gale's statement. Neri watched as Gale effortlessly cooked up a storm, adding spices and herbs to the dishes with practiced precision. The aroma that filled the kitchen made her mouth water.
As they waited for the food to finish cooking, Tara hopped onto Neri's lap and curled up into a ball. Neri stroked the soft fur gently and felt herself relax in the cozy atmosphere of the kitchen.
"Why you were alone for so long here?" Tara
lifted her head and meowed softly."Sorry, I mean, you and Tara."
He let out a heavy sigh. "I suppose I should come clean. You'll find out eventually anyway."
He turned away from the stove and leaned against the counter, facing Neri with a serious expression. "This affliction of mine...well, I wasn't exactly forthright about it before. It's a rather long and complicated story," he began slowly."I was what one might call a wizard prodigy, and from an early age could not only control the Weave but compose it, much like a musician or a poet. Such was my skill that it earned me the attention of the mother of magic herself the lady of mysteries."
"Mystra." she whispered.
Gale nodded, his expression a mix of sadness and nostalgia. "Indeed. She became my teacher, my muse, and eventually my lover."
Neri's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, I was aware were Mystra's chosen, but you were her lover too?"
"Oh yes we enjoyed each other's company
body mind and soul. But even so I desired more." he explained "You see, no matter how powerful a wizard we mortals can become, we never scratch more than the surface of the Weave. Mystra keeps us in check. There are boundaries she doesn't let us cross. Yet every time I was with her, I stood on the precipice, gazing into the wonders that lay beyond. I sought to cross her boundaries,"
He let out a trembling exhale, resting both hands on the countertop in front of her.
"Gods Gale... what did you do?"
Gale's gaze dropped to the counter, his hands still gripping the edge.
"I...I tried to convince her. But she only told me to be contempted." He looked up at Neri again, pain and regret evident in his eyes. "Can you believe it? I was sharing a bed with a goddess and I seeked to prove myself to her."
Neri reached out and took his hand in hers, giving it a gentle squeeze. She felt it tremble slightly.
Gale took a deep breath before continuing. "I found a Netherese tome with a fractured piece of the Weave. I thought, what if
after all this time I could return this lost part of herself to my goddess?"
Neri listened intently. She could only imagine the weight and responsibility he must have felt, being chosen by the goddess of magic and yet still never feeling enough for her, deserving of her.
"What was the answer to your question?" she asked softly.
"I obtained the fabled book and took it
into my study" Gale paused, his voice filled with remorse, "as for what happened next..." he took a step in her direction, grabbing her hand and placing it over his chest, "let me show you."
Neri looked at Gale in confusion, but did as he asked. She placed her hand over his heart and, a faint glow coming from it. She moved closer and was able to see the intricate lines that etched from his chest to his cheek, almost like a permanent tattoo. And then, she felt a pull, followed by the deepest darkest pain she had ever experienced. It was as if she had been thrust into the depths of an endless abyss. She screamed as she felt her soul being ripped apart and scattered to the winds.
Neri's mind was filled with images and memories that weren't her own. She saw Gale standing in his study, holding the Netherese tome in his hands. She felt his desperation, his need to prove himself to Mystra.
But as he began to open the book, a dark presence emerged from within it, engulfing him in its powerful grip. Neri watched in horror as Gale's body twisted and contorted under its influence.
And then, with a deafening roar, the darkness burst forth from Gale's body and consumed him completely.
Neri was pulled out of his mind and back into her own body, gasping for air. She looked up at Gale with wide eyes, tears streaming down her face.
"How...how in the nine hells are you still alive?" she whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and awe.
He lifted his gaze to meet hers, his big eyes filled with sorrow.
"Neri, I am dying."

Life In Color - KTH drabble- The one with the pink dress ⋆。°✩
Tumblr media
summary- going wedding dress shopping with your future husband isn't typical, but you do it anyways.
pair- kth x female!reader
rating- 18+
A/N - hi guys! I hope you love these new drabbles, Tae and y/n are my favorite couple ive written and can't wait to deepen their story line. enjoy :) -Nini
"and who is this you've brought with you?"
"my fiancé"
The woman sitting front desk blankly looked at your large grin as you stood in a large puffer jacket, Taehyung behind you with the same smile plastered on his face.
"oh!" she finally spoke, "it's just most couples choose to wait for the dress reveal until the wedding"
You nod, you knew this was gonna be questioned.
You tried your best to explain that you wanted your husband to be the first to see it, instead of the last. You and him agreed that it would be better to surprise family. Was it conventional? no, but nothing you two did ever was.
Another woman came out from the back and led us into a try on room, mirrors surrounding the small couch that taehyung plopped down on, his own face slightly pink in anticipation to see you in a real wedding dress.
everything was becoming increasingly more real as the clock began to tic down to the wedding date.
"let me take your coat, baby" he whispered, pulling it off your shoulders as you stood.
"ok, im gonna go with her and pick out a few and i'll come back in once im ready" you giggled and kissed his nose, happily following the woman out to the room. The large isles of puffy dresses was slightly overwhelming to look at.
You were supposed to pick just one?
"so we will gather as many as you please, then eliminate them as we go until we find the dress that you feel most beautiful in"
You grinned and nodded, "sounds good"
Your eyes scanned, looking deeply at each unique design. you almost felt like an imposter standing here, this was a little too fancy.....and expensive.
Growing up on the poorer side meant now that you were 23, and had your own well earned money, you still had issues with spending it. Every item was a questionable "is it really that needed?" purchase. The fear of someday running out, all because you spent it on unnecessary items haunts you, even though that is far from realistic.
"so....tell me about your fiancé" the older woman spoke, her arms crossed as she followed you around the room, collecting anything that sparked your interest even in the slightest.
"well...." you blush, "we've known each other since we were little kids, and to be honest I think we were just meant for each other" you mentally cringe at the corny line that left your mouth. It was true though.
She grinned "how adorable, you both are rather young, I dont see a lot of kids in their early 20's getting married as much as before"
"yeahh..." you began, handing her a soft white gown to add to her small pile in her arms. "I guess we have spent so much time together that instead of waiting, we just knew what we wanted"
"that is very true, he seems as lovely as you and I'm positive it will work out. Whens the wedding?"
"February"
"3 months, that exciting. Most women have their dress a year before" she laughed softly
"yeah well we didn't have much time to plan, we are not super fancy and its just gonna be a small wedding with our parents and siblings, nothing super big"
"small weddings are always sweet too, of course you wont get as much money with that little guests" she teased, making you secretly scrunch your face up.
"eh...not too concerned"
You did not care if you weren't going to get many expensive gifts or cash at your wedding, it didn't matter.
thats not really the point of the ceremony.
After a bit, you gathered only 3 dresses and began trying them on.
The first dress was a white puffy one, the skirt similar to a princess gown like you've seen in movies.
"tae?" you whispered, opening the door and walking in to see him on the couch.
His eyes widened as he took you in, a faint blush powdering his cheeks. "i.....woah"
The woman laughed as she had you stand on the platform in front of the mirrors.
"do you like it?"
He lagged for a moment, in shock before nodding, "ye-yeah, yeah I do, baby you look gorgeous" he smiled widely, unable to take his eyes off.
"this one is part of the new collection in stock, no one has bought it yet, its one of a kind and original" the woman began speaking as she flattened the skirt.
"oh wow, thats cool" you mumbled, eyes stuck on yourself in the mirror. It was kinda freaky to imagine yourself in a wedding dress since you were little, and now seeing it in real life.
Taehyung watched in awe of your beauty, but he couldnt help but notice your uncomfortable body language. He chose to stay silent as the worker began speaking once more.
"you look absolutely stunning in it, the price is about $9,000 right now, but of course that would probably be more in the higher 9k or even closer to 10k considering this is a bit big on you and would need alterations"
You felt your face drain, 10k for a white dress made of fabric you could buy at the craft store? Sure, it was an incredibly beautiful gown, but you were not about to pay that much for a one time wear.
"God, ...okay" taehyung lifted his winter cap from his head to itch his scalp in thought, putting it back down as he watched your expression.
"yeah uh...not gonna get this one" you whispered, looking at the worker
"thats okay, lets go try the other ones you picked"
Taehyung sat back down, part of him loving the way you were putting on a little fashion show for him, the other, concerned that you were bothered by something.
You stepped out in another dress, however this white one was more fitted, there was no train behind it, instead it hugged your curves.
Your fiancé smirked, watching as you stepped up to the platform.
"now, how do you feel? this one is from the summer collection, but you did say you were having an indoor wedding in February so you'll still be warm"
You thought for a moment, turning to see your body in the mirror, taehyung stood behind you, "you look so beautiful baby" he smiled
You shrugged, offering an iffy smile "I dont know"
before you knew it, your eyes were tearing up for NO reason.
The worker noticed how concerned taehyung had gotten and she spoke up, "i'll be right back"
When the door shut, he gently took your hands and made you face him, he whispered "whats wrong, hm? why are you so sad, my love?"
"I dont know" you whispered, his fingers wiping your eyes. "I just dont feel as pretty as I thought I did in these, I feel like a fake to be honest"
"why is that?" he sounded angry, not at you, but at the thought you didnt see your own beauty.
"everything is just so expensive and I dont feel like it belongs on me" you sniff, his face softens.
"hey" he whispered, "my parents agreed to help the cost of your wedding dress, stop worrying"
"I know but its not fair to you guys, and besides, I just feel weird. I wish I could just wear whatever"
He smiles gently and brushes your hair. "what is it that you want?"
"see, I dont even know. I remember when I was a little girl I always wanted to wear a puffy baby pink gown" you laugh, "everything seemed so easy then huh"
He thought for a moment, "a pink dress hm? lets see if they have that here"
"are you serious? baby, I was just joking"
"so? try one on anyways my love"
"i dont know....I was like 10 when I said that and-"
"sh" he gently cupped your face, "these dresses arent doing it for you, and we wont stop until we find what makes you feel beautiful, ok? theres no harm in trying."
When the woman came back in, he softly explained the situation, and watched as she left to go find some options that fit the idea you wanted.
After a few moments, she returned with a dress she think you'd like/
"try this one, hun, I think its the closest to what you were telling me, its also the lightest shade of pink"
You glance at tae before nodding and going to change.
It fit on easily, only slightly big in the chest, but its nothing a quick sew job from your work friend couldnt fix.
You step out, watching Taehyungs expression widen at you "oh baby.....you are so beautiful, I love you"
You giggled as he kissed you, turning your body to look in the mirror. You teared up again, but this time not because you were sad.
The baby pink dress had laced long sleeves and a large flowing skirt, the waist sewn tight. It was just the right amount of sparkles added, and for some reason you knew that this is what 10 year old you would have wanted.
"i...I love it" you whispered
Taes eyes watered a bit, seeing the genuine reaction from you.
"how much is it?" you turned to the woman, she began to speak but taehyung stopped her,
"nope, doesnt matter"
"baby-"
"no, no, you love this dress"
You frowned and nodded
"im gonna take care of it, okay?" he kissed you gently, sharing a glance into your eyes through the mirror in front of you both.
"are you sure?"
"positive"
You waited a moment, holding his hand "I really do love it" you whispered
"so....is this the dress?" the worker smiled softly, watching you nod slowly as you wiped a tear "yeah...yeah this is the dress"

Favorite Chan – Bang Chan
Chris x fiancée Bora, circa October 2024
Tumblr media
On the winner of the World Cup of Bang Chans, Bora had a slightly different opinion.
For Chris, my ENFJ buddy, wishing you the best and a blast for the year ahead!
On almost every night he came home to his and Bora's apartment, Chris forgot to prepare his keys and had to spend a few unnecessary minutes rummaging through the depth of his backpack to find them. Tonight, even with both hands full, was no exception. Muttering curses under his breath, Chris found himself reenacting the all-too-familiar scene of himself struggling to fish his keys out of his bag.
Minho, who'd given Chris both a ride home and a helping hand getting all of his stuff up to their apartment's unit, chuckled at Chris' colorful choice of words. "I'm so ratting you out to the noona."
Before Chris could pick a few colorful words for the younger man, as if on cue, the door flung open to reveal Bora's smiling figure. "No need, Minho," she said in an amused tone. "I heard everything already. They're not very pleasant noises to be heard outside one's door, you know."
"I'm sorry," Chris grumbled.
Bora laughed, stepping aside to let Minho get all of Chris' stuff inside the apartment. "Just leave them all on the hallway, Minho, thanks. Wow, it's a bit more than I suspected."
"He's got bigger gifts this year," Minho informed her. "Though they're mostly bigger in size only. Can't promise the same for the worth or how useful these are."
That earned another laugh from Bora. "I'm not even surprised anymore. He's turning half 54 anyway."
"Yah, not you too!"
Still slightly chuckling, Bora bid Minho goodbye once he's done moving all the bags and boxes of Chris' birthday presents and trinkets. "Say hi to Iris for me."
"Will do. Have a good night, you two."
After closing the door behind him, Bora put her arms around Chris to greet him properly. "Hi there, birthday boy."
"Hello." Chris leaned in for a kiss – only to pull away in disbelief when he tasted something that was overly, awfully familiar on Bora's lips. "You can't be serious."
She offered him an only slightly apologetic grin. "Couldn't help it."
Chris made his way to the living room and was met by the proof of his suspicion: a half-finished cup of spicy noodles on the table, one of the few he'd had on his birthday livestream earlier. "Are you being serious? You're really having spicy noodles for dinner just mere hours after my suffering?"
"Your livestream made me crave for some of it," she chuckled, walking past Chris to sit down on the sofa and resume eating the godforsaken dish. "So it's on you. Besides, I thought they told you to not eat spicy food on a live ever again?"
"I like to challenge myself."
"You dug your own grave, then." Keeping her eyes and smile on Chris, Bora took a mouthful of the sinfully red noodles, chewing and swallowing them as if they were nothing. Maybe they really were nothing for Bora; unfortunately for Chris, spicy food really was her forte.
He rolled his eyes at her even as he sat down next to her. "Show off."
"Couldn't help it," she chuckled. "From 1 to 10, how hot are your insides still?"
"Eight and a half," he wailed. "It was crazy. Felt the fire on my freaking toes."
Bora gave his head a sympathetic pat. "You poor thing. Good thing I came prepared; picked up some milk on my way home. Go get 'em in the fridge."
Despite knowing perfectly well now that he'd be getting the evil taste back on his taste bud by doing so, still Chris leaned in for another kiss before rushing to the kitchen. "You're really the best, you know that?"
"I do," she mused. "It was a good live, by the way."
"Did you watch the entire thing?"
"Of course not. Who has the time to sit through the entire three-plus hours?"
"I do," Chris pouted. He was tempted to just chug the milk straight from the carton, but then thought better and reached for a glass instead. "I had to yap the entire three-plus hours, remember?"
"But you love it."
Even as he downed a few more sips, Chris couldn't help his smile. "I do love it." He really did love every second of the livestream, always loved interacting with his fans who loved him too.
"I still can't believe Wolf Chan won over Intern Chan," Bora was saying as Chris made his way back to the living room, bringing the entire carton of milk with him. "I mean – hello? The divine Intern Chan?"
"I know! I was mortified too."
Bora laughed. "Yeah, I saw that."
"It was odd. I lost to a wolf, and it's not even a realistic one." Setting down his milk on the table, he sat himself down back to the space next to her. "So Intern Chan is your favorite?"
"Hm." She pondered for a few minutes, giving her upcoming answer a serious consideration. "I think it's coming in second."
"Second? What's the first – wait. Please, please don't say Red Lights Chan."
Bora huffed. "Please. If I wanted to see you in chains, I'd prefer with less clothes than you had on in Red Lights."
"Oh my God – Kim Bora!" Chris shook his head vigorously as Bora simply, innocently smiled at him. "I should really tell Stays what kind of influence I'm getting here. They have to know you're the one responsible in making me like this."
She shrugged. "It's not my name credited under those songs. Again, digging your own grave here."
"Unbelievable," Chris grumbled. "So which one is it, then? Your favorite Chan?"
Unexpectedly, Bora reached out a hand to cradle the side of his face. "This one. Bare-haired, bare-faced, stripped of every fancy costume and styling."
Chris was slightly taken aback. "Yeah?"
"Yeah. Especially because I get to have this Chan for myself almost every single day." Bora's smile widened as he gave Chris' cheek a gentle pat. "Even though he still sucks as hell in handling spicy food."
He rolled his eyes at her. "You can say goodbye to your half of my birthday cake, then. I saved you the dolphin garnish, by the way."
"Christopher Bahng, you wouldn't dare."
Chris smirked. "I also saved the dolphin balloons. Might just give them out to the neighbor's kids."
"Chris!"

An Early Christmas Present
‐-------------
This is the first not school related thing I have written in years. Its also completely self indulgent and for the most part something I personally experienced.
Barely proofread
Warnings: mentions of blood - this is fluff otherwise -
Words: 1.7k
Remus Lupin x gn!reader - no pronouns mentioned
Just a couple of months ago your close friends James and Lily had finally gotten married. It was a small ceremony but that didnt lessen the love or joy everyone felt. It was a long time coming, James had spent years pining after Lily doing whatever he could think of to get her to notice him.
Money is tight but still you lay there on your couch. Your long time boyfriend Remus laying between your legs peacfully reading. Your hand in his hair relishing in the close peacefulness, the book you hold in your other hand being long forgotten as your mind wanders. Christmas is soon and with that comes a plan to show Remus just how deep your adoration for him truly runs.
You can't help but laugh at him when he puts a Christmas tree ornament around his ear, mimicking something Sirius had made days prior. "Minerva was no different, you know? Cats and their small paws and high and mighty attitudes." He sneered while trying to hold in his laughter.
Tinsel is absolutely everywhere. Draped over furniture and little pieces scattered on the floor. Its easy. Sorted. Most importantly, it isn't in the way of the war currently raging just a few feet away. Swears are flying like the snowflakes outside.
You and Remus are tangled together fighting for your lives against the lights. You would swear they have a mind if their own, its the only explanation how they could tangle so severely after after being carefully put into storage. Would it have been easier with magic? Probably. Did either even remember that you could USE said magic? Not at all. The lights wrap tightly around you the plasric is cold against your skin contrasting greatly from the warmth of your boyfriend's hands trying to free you both.
As the lights are finally untangled you can see the tension leave his body. The way the light from the fire reflects off the bulb into his face is enchanting. You never minded the scars. Each time he came back from the nights of the full moons with a new wound you were there helping him heal. He hated it at first.
The marauders had a lot of secrets. They were pranksters sure, but you know better than most. Midnight escapades to the restricted section of the ancient library hell you were one of the few people who knew they're animagi. Remus shares everything with you. You let out a frustrated groan shoving yourself off out of your bed. The wooden floor creaks with your weight as you make your way out to the common room. Your eyes fall onto a familar head of red hair.
"Hey Lils, why are you up so late?" You ask her quietly trying your best to not startle her at the unholy hour of 3am. She turns her head with a slight gasp. Startled er anyway. Her eyes are puffy and her face is painted with the stains of freshly dried tears. The second you start to hurry to her side the tears come back. So you wait. You silently hold one of your closest friends into your shoulder until she's alright. It doesn't matter how long it takes.
"They-They're usually back by now. Why aren't they back?" She chokes out her words asking you a question you don't have the slightest understanding of. The scratching as they come out is audible. The guys. Your guys. You know they go ot and do whatever it is they do once a month, 'boys night' they assure you. Why would Lily be sobbing with worry lacing her voice because they're late returning from boys night? Your thoughts are short by the door to the common room opening. Their voices. Hushed. Worried. Tired.
"God Moony, you could at least pretend like you're trying to walk." James's voice was quiet but in the otherwise silent common room he might as well have been yelling. It earned him a growl from Remus. No reort or quip. Thats when you noticed the blood. Oh the blood. It covered his shirt, his arms, and even his face. You couldn't see Remus's entire face but you saw enough through the brown curls that shielded you from the worst of it. The others didn't look much better. You want to go to him, need to go but something is stopping you. A hand. A well manicured hand connected to a Lily who's demeanor isn't far different from any of the guys. She shakes her head, such a simple action has tears coming to your own eyes. If she spoke you aren't sure. Your heart is beating so hard you cannfeel it in your skull. The tears don't come until Sirius looks up and makes eye contact with you. He mutters something under his breath as his face contorts from pain to panic.
You didn't know it back then of course, but looking back it was pretty obvious that you'd fall in love with him. That'd youd move in together and do everything you could to make the pain just a little bit more bearable.
"Rem dear? Can we paint a Christmas ornament this year? It'd be cute to exchange them Christmas Eve." Your voice is soft, gentle. The smile on your face reminds him of the day after you found out he's a werewolf. After you yelled at them for 10 minutes straight about danger, lying, and worrying Lily.
"Of course dove. That sounds like a wonderful idea!" His voice is chipper. A similar tone to his old days of pranking. A plan was hatching you just weren't sure what. It was mutual.
You sat at the table paint in hand doing your best to get the lettering just right. He's the love of your life and if it's going to take a little extra effort to make this special it was worth it. The table likely disagreed. Different colored paints are everywhere, different brushes, and oh the water cup that you put nxt to your now inedible tea. The letters on the sphere spelling ' WILL YOU MAR' taunting you. It doesn't matter how nice your hand writing is, once its on an ornament you've never written in your life.
You put the long finished and dried ornament on the back of the tree. It'll be better if he works for it you think. The fire is still young, it'll grow in a short amount of time, likely full size by the time your teas cool enough to drink. A content sigh escapes through your lips as you look around. Your home is small but its full of love and memories. Remus has had trouble finding work due to his affliction, but that isn't to say he does nothing. He works odd jobs and when there's nothing he makes sure your house is tidy and fixes whatever he can if it breaks. He will never admit how guilty he feels, but you know. Each book on the shelves, each cup on the cupboard, and even each stitch in the quilt you made together shows the amount of care you have for eachother. The pain just as much as the love.
Remus gets up quickly, only a moment after finishing his tea. You watch as he takes a breath and gently takes your hand in his. His hand is calloused and scarred but the feel the feeling is familar and calming. Each scar a mark of honor to you, but another thing to be ashamed of to him. He brings you next to the tree and prompts you to close your eyes. It feels like an eternity before you feel something round in your hand.
"Yours is on the tree love. I'm sure you'll be able to find it." You dont open your eyes until you finish your sentence. His bavk is already turned to you, not that you could complain you feel like you're going to throw up. This is it after all. Your relationship is about to permanently change one way or another. Anxiety seems reasonable to you. You look over the ornament in your hand, scanning it mindlessly at first lost in your own thoughts. You can't tell Remus has nearly stopped breathing as he searches the tree slowly.
A laugh. You can't stop it before it comes out. Written in sloppy letters are the words you spent forever painting. 'Will you be mine forever?' There's even a heart. You slap your hand over your mouth immediately after the laugh. You saw his shouders and back flinch at the sound, just as you watched his hand close around your equally sloppily painted proposal. He straightens up but doesn't turn around.
"I know we don't have a lot of money, and I know you could do and deserve so much better than me and what I can offer." He pauses to calm his breathing completely unaware of the tears threatening to spill from your eyes "But please dove. I will always do whatever I can to make you happy and you will never regret saying yes. I love you and I solemnly swear I will always love you."
You cant answer. Your brain is reeling and your lungs can't keep up. Another laugh, with this one the tears come. The only thing you can do to try to ease his growing dread is to take hold of his wrist. Giggling, you can't stop yourself. It's not cute, its a mix of giggles and cries as you try to speak. His arm is tense you can feel his hesitation, like a statue not fully carved. You quickly tap at the ornament in his hand. He gets the hint you assume, because you hear him laugh. You feel hin relax under your touch. You probably sound insane to anyone passing by your quaint little home. His lips are soft against yours. They've never felt more perfect. He pulls you in, his arms holding you close, you wrap your arms around him trying to pull him even closer to you.
Your little home so full of love and life has never felt more comfortable than in this moment. This perfect moment with your fiancé. With the perfect plan to propose at the same time.
Neither of you needed a ring. You'd get them eventually, but there was nothing that could've made this moment any more precious.

Tea Amo
Summary: Noisette visits your teashop and brings "the stuff". She also calls you out on your crush.
Contents: Noisette brings the goods (not drugs),Questionable dishes, your teashop has a stash of contraband, Noisette being called Hazel when you're serious, calling you out on your crush, you get flustered, gratuitous throwing of fruit.
Another quiet day. The only sounds being the gentle rumbling of machines and your pen scratching against a piece of paper.
The bell chimed, loud and airy as the door opened. You don't know why you decided to hang a bell there. It was obvious whenever you had a customer or...visitors.
You glance up from the notepad you were doodling in as the bell tinkled again as the door shut. A familiar flash of pink bounds up to you excitedly.
"Hi Y/N!"
You tilted your head to the side, smiling warmly. "Hey Noisette"!
As she approaches the counter you can't help but notice her toting a dark bag by her side. You arch an eyebrow. What she has in it, it was heavy.
She hops onto one of seats in front of you. A thud is heard as the bag drops to her side.
"How've you been? And how's Theo?"
You both chat for a bit, catching up on anything and everything. She'd share about her boyfriends antics, some of which involved annoying Peppino. Of which you would ask her to ask Theo to dial it back some. You'd share with her your newest tea blend or where you went this week.
Noisette had become a good friend of yours through the years. You both could talk for hours and not get tired of it. Which was fine with you since your cafe was empty anyways.
A comfortable silence had settled between the two of you until Noisette sat up a bit straighter. Her eyes scanning each corner of room to look for unseen strangers.
She pauses as her gaze meets yours once again. Her eyes narrow up at you in a silent question. You stare back for a moment before drawing in a deep breath. You nod. On cue Noisette heaves the bag up and onto the counter.
"I brought the goods" she says in a low voice. You watch carefully as she slides the cloth bag towards you.
You meet her gesture halfway, pulling it across the counter. Damn it is heavy. You think, settling it onto your lap.
"Flip the sign to 'Closed'. Noisette nods and slides out of the chair.
You purse your lips in thought. "Hey can you take that bell off the door too"?
* *
"Dude...that's disgusting." You cringed. There's no way Noisette seriously makes this shit right? It's a "haha" ongoing joke...right?
"Aw come on Y/N, it'd be cute. And pink! It'd fit my cafe perfectly"!
"Pepto Pesto." You deadpan. "Hazel, please do not ever make that. I'd rather eat the peppermint ramen again".
"Aww! You like it that much?!"
You roll your eyes, grumbling under your breath. At least she never made you try the "peanut butter spaghetti" you had heard about how gross that was.
Instead you turn your attention back to stirring the batter in the bowl. A substantial part of the kitchen had been coated with sugar, flour, batter, cherries, cream, and other various baking ingredients.
"The goods" had been boxes, jars, and cans of everything you'd need to make your Flourless Chocolate Cake, Cherry Danishes, and Coconut Cream Pie. Well, everything you didn't have on hand anyways. You had invited Noisette to bake with you if she stopped by the store to pick up what you needed.
Aside from the fact you enjoyed baking, you wanted to test out serving pastries in the shop. If it earned you a few more customers you'd try baking more sweets. If it was a flop...hey at least you have a bunch of snacks.
You grabbed your oven mitts as the alarm sounded. Heat washed over you as you opened the oven along with the distinct aroma of chocolate. You grab the pan to pull it out, gently setting it on top of the stove.
Alright. Now all that's left is to finish off making those danishes.
"Y/N?"
"What?" You click the off button and turn to face the woman.
"Why do you have coffee?"
Oh no.
"W-What do you mean?" Noisette cheerily shoves the box in your face. Yup. There it is. Your imported instant coffee. Busted. The tea police are already on their way. You're going to be incarcerated with no possibility of parole. For life.
You hang your head and give a defeated sigh.
"Y/N! COFFEE... IN A TEA SHOP?! BLASPHEMY!" she gasps in mock horror before falling into a laughing fit.
You snatch the "contraband" from Noisette, unable to hide your grin from her antics. "I don't always drink tea. And if some people ask for it I'm happy to share my "stash".
Well. One person.
"You mean Peppino"? she chirped.
You forgot that she knew he stopped by here, and frequently too. Sometimes he'd have what ever tea you'd recommend, though you mentioned you could just make him coffee if he'd prefer. That's when you had decided to just keep a few extra boxes on hand.
"Well, yeah." You shrug, making your way over to the cabinet to put the coffee back. You jump as Noisette pops up beside you, a smirk plastered on her face.
"Soooo...when are you going to confess"? Your heart fluttered instantly and your legs started to feel heavy.
"Confess...what"? You stare down at Noisette, a knot forming in your stomach in anticipation. Please don't say it.
"That you liiiike him." she croons.
"Whaddya mean?" You chuckle nervously and put on your best pokerface. It wasn't a good one. Please stop talking. Please stop talking. Please...Who turned the heat up? You can feel tiny beads of sweat forming.
"We just sometimes stop by each others shop, it's not like it's out of the way. We're friends." You emphasize the friends part. "Just like how we visit each other".
She flashed you an incredulous look "You go over to his pizzeria and he stops by here, sure. But you guys do this at least three times a week. And you both of you are in complete opposite directions. That doesn't sound like a 'on the way' visit".
You hate that Noisette is more observant than she acts. Actually, you hate this conversation too. Instead you opt to return to your batter to finish the danishes. You hurry back to the other counter to finish this suddenly very important task.
Of course you liked Peppino.
Peppino would stop by some mornings before work for tea (or coffee) and you both would converse for an hour, sometimes less if it was a busy day. You never charged him for his order either, despite his protests. All you would do is wave him off saying his company was payment enough.
Other times he would stop by midday, leaving Gustavo to run the pizzeria for a bit. You enjoyed listening to him. Be it about his day or week, complaining, movies or shows he'd mention, anything. You just enjoyed being around him.
You would stop by his pizzeria as well. By now your order had been memorized; ham and pepperoni. You'd sit at the counter and Peppino would refuse to take your money any time you ordered. Since you never charged him, he'd just wave you off with your own words, "Your company can be the payment". Though when he wasn't looking, you'd drop cash into the tip jar.
"You like him". Noisette prodded your side, snapping you out of your thoughts. You stare down at the mixture. Your mouth clamped shut.
"Is like not the right word?" she rambled on, "Is it maybe that you love h-"
"STOP!" you screech. Heat rose to your face. It felt as if you had opened the oven and dipped yourself in it. There was a eerie silence as you both came face to face. You could hear your heart pounding in your ears. An impish grin splayed across Noisette's face as she sucked in a deep breath.
"JUST TELL HIM YOU LOVE HIM!"
"NO!" You grab a cherry and chuck it at her. Miss. You grab another and aim. The fruit splats against the wall, red trail oozing to the floor. This is going to be a pain in the ass to clean up later.
"Y/N and Peppino sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-" she was cut off as a fruit bounced off her nose.
"YOU ARE SO CHILDISH!" You snap, throwing multiple cherries now. Another collides with her neck. The rest explode on the other wall. Noisette cackles dementedly as she flies out of the kitchen.
"HAZEL! COME HERE NOW!" you bolt after her. She was so dead.
The door bursts open. You screech to a halt, eyes wide. You swear your heart stopped too.
What ever you were going to say had died in your throat. The only thing you could do was stare at Peppino blankly while your mind stumbled over itself. How long had he been here? Why didn't you hear him come in? Why was-
"Hiya Peppino! What brings you here this late?" Noisette smiles brightly. You shoot her a warning glare.
"OH WOW LOOK AT THE TIME! I GOTTA GET HOME TO NOISY!" Noisette yells, pointing to the clock. She hurries to the door before spinning around one last time, "HAVE A GOOD NIGHT GUYS"!
You flinch as the door slams shut.
Trapped. You had no where to go. If you bolted now that would look bad. Also Peppino deserved some kind of explanation. If he heard everything you think he did. Which meant you'd need to...
"Uh...h-hey." You manage to get out, swallowing the lump in your throat. "D-do you...coffee"? you ask awkwardly. It was taking everything in you to try and steady your breathing.
Peppino met your gaze, though he didn't reply. At least not at first. It must be your eyes messing with you, or the lighting, you swear he had a tint of pink to his cheeks.
"I'll-a have coffee".
You close your eyes and take a deep breath through your nose. Slowly you let it out. Your eyes flick back up to his. Now or never.
"I like you, ok? We've known eachotherforawhileforlikeyearssomaybeactuallyIminlovewithyou." you blurt out, half of it being a jumbled mess.
"Y/N..." he trails off.
Great. He either is too stunned to reply...or he didn't understand any of that. Let's hope it's the latter.
You sigh "Peppino, I've known you for years and I...I love you."
It takes a moment for you to process what was being handed to you. You stare at the object, realizing it was a bouquet of roses. You take them and stare back at Peppino.
"Ti amo anch’io. I love you too, Y/N."
You gently set the roses on the counter and step around to be on the same side as him. With no other warning you lunge at Peppino, he gasps in surprise. You wrap your arms around his waist and pull him close to you. He smelled clean, as if he had just gotten a shower before coming here. You bury your head into his neck. He wraps his arms around you in response, holding you tightly.
You don't know how long you'd stay like this but you would cherish every second.
You distinctly hear a feminine voice yelling "Yes! Hahaha! Yes! And if you had bothered to look, you would've seen Noisette with her face pressed up against the cafe window.
Originally this was supposed to end at Noisette rushing out the door but honestly...who likes cliffhangers? Not me! Lol.

Haymitch and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Content warning for implied alcoholism/talk of drinking and withdrawal symptoms
Note: this is not meant to be Haymitch/Katniss! I just like little Katniss and cg Haymitch, but wanted to write from Haymitch's perspective :]
Also my first time writing for this fandom/characters so.. I hope it's alright.
🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂
He didn't need to hear Effie's lecture on the manners he was sorely lacking, nor did he need her nitpicking his choice of clothing or whatever else was wrong with him. Not today.
Saying he 'woke up on the wrong side of the bed' was an understatement. His head feels like he's gotten far too acquainted with a brick and his stomach feels like he's been knocking back a few too many of those 'special' drinks that the Capitol offers at their feasts. Those little vials will always be confusing, maybe it's because he wasn't raised that way. There's no sense to it. Regardless, a sucker punch would probably feel better.
Katniss was snippy during one of the interviews and he might've snapped at her after. It's for her own good, she can't be rocking the boat right now. Not when everyone is breathing down their necks, hungry for a snippet of drama, unaware of the uprisings said 'drama' may prompt. He'd really tried not to yell. Just the thought of more unnecessary sound made his head ache. But he had, a little, and that earned him a harsh glare from Peeta. Normally he wouldn't care, but on top of everything it was starting to break him apart at the seams.
Peeta was miffed and Katniss was certainly angry as well. Effie was already getting that tic in her eye, the pressure rising up like she's some kind of kettle. He can practically see the steam. However, he wasn't about to let her blow off on him. Instead he stormed off to his quarters on the train to nurse his headache and try to keep what little remained in his stomach down.
He's been working hard to get sober, really, he has. Headaches and tremors and nausea and the anxiety that never seems to stop. It's like his senses are cranked up to eleven, the lights are too bright even when dimmed, the train car is too loud, his clothes are touching him all wrong... everything is wrong. Everything is driving him back to his vices. He's seen the bottles in the cupboards. No one would notice if one was missing, would they? They're probably all asleep anyway. If he could just-
For better or for worse, his thoughts are interrupted by a quiet knocking at the door.
"I'm not hungry." He calls back, rolling over on his bed so his back faces the door.
At first there's no response, then he hears the door creak open quietly, the faint light from the hall peeking in alongside whoever has decided to disturb him.
"For Panem's sake-" he grumbled as he pushed himself up against the headboard to a reclined position. "What do you want?!"
Immediately he regrets his harsh tone. He assumed it was Effie or an Avox or someone, but no, it was Katniss. Not the usual Katniss Everdeen, not the victor of district twelve, not the star-crossed lover of Peeta, not the girl on fire.. this was a side of Katniss very few were partial to see. Peeta, of course. Probably Cinna and Effie too, considering how closely and constantly they're buzzing around. At first they tried to hide her from Haymitch, but the girl has never been one to listen to anyone. She does her own thing. But that brings the question, why is she here? Now?
Katniss stands there, peeking into the room at Haymitch with those big grey eyes. She's like a lamb. Shy and skittish and sweet, but still an energetic troublemaker when she wants to be. Thankfully for Haymitch's sanity, she seems to be the former right now. Granted, he probably scared her by raising his voice moments before.
"Haymitch angry?" She asks meekly, not daring to open the door more than she already has. Already prepared for a quick escape.
That question makes him pause, taking in a deep breath and resting his head in his hands for a moment. No. He's not angry, not at her at least.
"No. Haymitch is not angry, sweetheart." He says calmly, trying to quell the guilt of snapping at her. "Haymitch is just having a bad day."
She pushes the door open a bit more, slipping inside like a lamb through a gate, then she closes it behind her. The room returns to darkness, spare for the faint light from the windows and the glow of a few candles Haymitch lit earlier to try and freshen the stuffy air of the train.
"Help?" Katniss asked as she toddled her way over to his bed. Haymitch raised his head from his hands and gave a small nod. Katniss clambers up onto the bed beside him, butting her head up under his arms and comfortably nestling herself against his chest.
It's basically a practiced motion at this point, Katniss loves being cuddled as close as she can get. And Haymitch enjoys it as well, having his baby so close. Her weight in his lap and against him helps draw his attention away from the ache in his muscles.
And there they sat on Haymitch's bed. His hand gently running through her hair, her hands bunched up in his shirt. The sounds of the train slowly drown out as Haymitch starts to drift off, slumping against Katniss in his grogginess.
Soon after he started to slump, Katniss broke the silence.
"Sleep." She mumbled, reaching up to gently pat Haymitch's face, something he does to her when she's refusing to close her eyes. It does make his head hurt a bit more, but it's too endearing for him to complain. Haymitch slumps against her some more, purposefully mushing her just a bit. That earns him a playful shove from the little one. "Haymitch *sleep*."
"Yeah.. yeah.. I got it, kid.." he groans, lifting her slightly so he can lie down. She pouts, just a little, and curls back into him.
Despite the chaos going on around them, the bottles in the cupboard still tempting him to break, the whispers of uprising crackling with sparks.. despite it all, here is quiet.
He can make it to tomorrow. With his baby safe in his arms.

Alright! So I wanted to go ahead and do another part to Ghosts that We Knew! This is a follow up to the last one, but the next will kinda be its own thing. Anyway, I hope yall like ^^ it's a little shorter and less angsty than I thought it would be :)
Ghosts that We Knew
Part 5: Reconcile
Tumblr media
Ghost had seemed to disappear. When you and Ellie came back, the apartment was cleaned, scrubbed down and sanitized of everything. They had even, rather courteously, had taken your stuff from the boxes and put them in plastic bins for easy organization and unpacking. Ellie couldn’t feel Ghost there anymore. It seemed the clean up crew had even washed him away. It saddened her.
“Mama…where is he?” Ellie asked, looking up at you as she entered the apartment again, “I don’t see him”.
“I don’t know sweetie. I…I’m thinking he may have moved on. Maybe he just completed his purpose”.
Your little girl looked skeptical but seemed to understand what you meant. She went to her room, trying to get familiar with everything again. It was like moving in all over again. You stopped in front of the closet, now pristine and scrubbed down. Like Ellie, you felt like they had scrubbed him away too somehow.
In the days following, you couldn't help but feel that a part of you was oddly lost. He was there and yet, not. Still around, just not as strong. It was a very surreal and odd feeling. The whole vibe of the apartment felt off, so you did what you normally did when you felt out of whack.
You baked.
This time, you worked on a loaf of banana nut bread, one of yours and Ellie’s favorites. You had hoped maybe Ghost would come again at the smells and sounds of you baking again, keeping your phone out and the communication app open in case he said something. But nothing came through on the phone, even as you waited for it to finish baking. It just felt empty all around. The apartment was tainted, despite having been cleansed, and it felt barren and cold. A part of you wondered if the cold was due to his presence, or because you just felt cold without him there. Again, it was just a really odd, sad feeling. You read a little on your phone as you waited for the banana loaf to get done, but you could hardly read the words. Something just didn’t feel right.
You got up, and approached the closet in the hall, noting that Ellie’s door was closed. You had your phone in hand as you sat down in front of the closet. You didn't know what his fascination with that space was, but you had an idea.
The thought of it honestly broke your heart…well it broke somebody's. You remembered as you touched the scar on your chest. "Your" heart wasn't exactly yours. You couldn't stand remembering that fact…
Pushing it to the back of your mind, you focused on the task at hand. If he was still here, this is where he'd be.
"Ghost…if you're still here, I want you to know that it's okay. You did what you had to do and you did it to protect us. Even if we weren't home, who's to say they wouldn't have come again? I just wanna let you know that I'm not mad at you, if that's what's wrong. Yes, I was scared. Yes, I was caught by surprise. I just didn't expect to see you. I only saw you a little that first night. I wasn't expecting a full body apparition" you paused, trying to think of what to say, "if you're still here, I'm making banana nut bread. I know you can't eat it, but you mentioned you liked the smell. I'll leave a piece out for you".
You kissed your hand and gently pressed it to the door. "And if you have moved on, well…congrats soldier, you earned it".
You moved to stand back up to check on the loaf in the oven, leaving your phone in the hallway in front of the closet. Inside, Ghost did his best to keep quiet, definitely not a difficult feat. Sure you explained yourself, but he didn't want to risk scaring you again. Besides, he needed time to regain his strength. Possession took a lot out of him, as he imagined it did with most spirits.
Sorry.
At the sound of the word, you nearly dropped the loaf in the kitchen. You heard the squeak of Ellie's door, she had heard it too. The little girl sat in front of the closet.
"Ghost? Ghosty? Are you in there?" Ellie asked.
You were somewhat easy to resist, but Ghost had a deep soft spot for your little girl. Any time she was around something in him felt oddly alive, warm and bright. Anything she wanted, anything she asked, he gave an answer.
Here.
"Mama! He's here! He's back!" Ellie called excitedly.
"I'll be there in a second, hon. Want a piece of banana nut bread?!" You asked.
He could hear the smile in your voice. You were happy he was here, actually happy. It was beginning to feel like home again for you, and even more like home with your supernatural roommate.
"Yes please!" Ellie called out, "don't forget one for him!"
You were indeed smiling. "I would never forget".
Ellie went to her room to grab a blanket and a couple pillows. She didn't want to leave her spooky friend alone in the lonely hallway tonight. Besides, sweets tasted even better when shared with friends.
"I missed you" Ellie said looking first at the phone and then the door.
Missed you. The phone seemed to echo back.
She smiled as you came back with slices of the fresh loaf. You sat down with your little one, setting the plate between the two of you.
"Banana nut bread tastes the best when made fresh" you smiled, "and it's even better tonight".
"Yum!" Ellie took a piece excitedly, loving when you made things like this.
You pushed a piece on a smaller plate towards the closet door. Sure Ghost couldn't eat it, but at least he knew you thought of him. You watched your little one eat, a soft smile on your face.
"Ghost…you won't leave us right? Promise?" She asked, her little voice soft.
He took a moment to think. He was touched, Ellie wasn't afraid of him anymore, and he felt a little more complete. Ghost had no idea why he was still stuck here, but a part of him thought it was for the two of you. Whatever higher powers there were, they had finally gifted him that one thing he wanted in life but never felt worthy of: a home and a family.
Again, he was aware of how selfish it was, but after dedicating his life to the protection of others, perhaps it was time to be a little selfish…
Never. He promised.
He was home, and Ghost had no intention of leaving. Home was where he was staying, no matter where you and Ellie were…
If you guys enjoyed please consider liking, following, and most importantly reblogging! If you wanna be tagged for this little series, let me know ^.^ thank you and I hope your days going awesome :D

🫶🏻 also, idk if you’re willing to do this and i understand but if you’d write a blurb w josty of him comforting his partner after losing a dog, id enjoy it bc im putting mine down this week and figuring out ways to cope :,) ily <3
emmie, i'm so sorry & sending so much love your way <3 i hope this makes you feel a little bit better
it's only been a few days, but the pain of losing your dog hasn't gotten any easier to handle. she was your best friend and had always made you smile no matter what. without her, your apartment is quieter and there's a huge gaping hole in your life that can't be filled.
tyson hated seeing you so upset and was there to say goodbye to her before offering his shoulder to cry on while supporting you in any way he possibly could. but one night when he was holding you in his arms as you slept soundly, he had an idea that he hoped would bring a smile to your face and ease some of the sadness about losing your dog.
so after practice today, he told you had had a few errands to run and he'd be home a little after lunch. with that, he got to work. after consulting both kacey, his mom and yours, the plan was set and admittedly, tyson has never been so nervous.
but when he gathered all the bags and headed up to your apartment, his worries disappeared. he knows he could've shown up empty handed and you still would be happy to see him because it lifts a weight off your shoulders. so this was just going to be a perfect surprise.
when he opens the door, he finds you reading on the couch like usual. you offer him a soft smile before getting up to greet him with a kiss. tyson's heart flutters for a moment until he notices the undeniable amount of sorrow in your pretty eyes.
"hi, babe." he murmurs, kissing your forehead which earns him another small smile.
"hi, tys. errands go well?" you ask, but then catch a glimpse of the unusually large amount of bags in his hands. "what in the world did you get?"
"your usual coffee order," he begins, handing you the coffee with a happy glint in his eyes, "everything i need to make your favorite dinner and dessert later, and this." tyson pauses, gently placing the grocery bags on the counter before presenting the white box shaped like a house.
"you went to build-a-bear?" the question is full of laughter and confusion, but tyson just nods in response.
"i did. open it." he encourages you. you meet his gaze and then carefully begin opening the cardboard box. you have no idea what he's up to, but you go along with it anyway out of curiosity and it's obvious that tyson put a lot of thought into this.
inside is a stuffed animal puppy with a heart shaped name tag around its neck that looks almost exactly like your dog. the name tag even has your dog's name on it.
"ohmygod, tys," you whisper, holding the stuffed puppy in your hands so delicately. tears immediately well up in your eyes and you don't waste any time giving him the tightest hug ever. "you didn't have to do this, but thank you so much."
"i'd do anything for you, baby. and i know how hard it's been without her so i thought this might help. but there's something else." he explains, voice thick with emotion as he holds you close and presses a kiss to the top of your head. he squeezes the stuffed puppy just slightly and the familiar bark of your dog fills the room which only makes the tears start to fall. "i asked your mom for a recording of her happy bark as you always called it. so you always have a piece of her."
you can't think of any words that would be enough to properly thank him so you just hug him again, mumbling "i love you's" into his chest. he's the kindest boy you've ever known and the fact that he loves you will forever be your biggest blessing.
