I’m still stuck on Powder Keg even after two months—it’s like the story embedded itself deep into my subconscious. I have this irrational fear that one day, when I’m old and have Alzheimer’s, I’ll accidentally blurt out something like, “You can google it, you know? The rape and the trial...” to my nurse. Anyway, I’ve got a few questions.

-Akaashi seemed nostalgic about the ramen place memories on campus. Do you think they (or at least Akaashi) felt any regret after raping reader for the first time? I imagine the reader must have looked really hurt and broken.

-They had the location set up, ropes and handcuffs, and Kuroo hid the reader’s phone. But, did they have any plan for what to do after everything was done? If the reader hadn’t managed to escape, what would they have done next after 3 days? Did they ever consider that they might go to jail for this? They just feel so sure they’d get away with it or “we’ll deal with it when it happens” situation?

-Why did the reader ask Kasumi who the attacker was? I thought the reader knew, since she’d had a “rough day” begging them not to go too far with Kisumi. (Maybe I misunderstood something here—English isn’t my first language, so I’m still confused about that part.)

-“A flash of irritation sparks, and his eyes narrow. ‘She agreed to come with us, and we didn’t abuse her. We’d never.’” — Did Akaashi actually believe that, or was it just a defensive response to Sumi? From Sumi’s words, it sounded like the reader had suffered serious physical harm. So why would he say something like that?

-Was the reader kept inside the “house” 24/7, or was she allowed to go out at all? Like, did she have a job or get to run errands on her own? I’m trying to picture how it worked—did she completely disappear from the outside world and get locked in a basement like in Bo Wants a Picture-Perfect Relationship, or did she retain some personal freedom, as long as she behaved?

no, they don't have any guilt over it. akaashi might on occasion miss how light and joking she used to be around them but he wouldn't trade it for what he has now. regretting it would mean wanting to take it back, and not one of them would choose any differently if they had the chance.

yes and no. it wasn't exactly a plan as such, more a mutual – and unspoken – understanding over the lengths they'd go to and the reader's likely reaction to that. they had three days to smooth over the rough edges – it can't be rape when there's kisses and cuddles and steaming baths to soothe sore muscles afterwards, right? and there'd be video evidence, wouldn't there, of her falling apart on their cocks, telling them she loves them, curled up and asleep in their arms afterwards. it can't be rape when the love's clearly there, right?

the reader knows that bokuto was the one to attack kisumi, she asks the question to gauge what her cousin remembers about it, how much she should reveal etc. ultimately, kisumi's in more danger because she remembers it clearly. she's a greater threat, but the message sinks in all the same

i wouldn't necessarily say he's delusional about it, but he also doesn't think he's lying. it wasn't abuse in his eyes, they weren't slapping her around or beating her, they weren't trying to make it hurt. they love her, so it couldn't have been abuse.

she wasn't locked in a basement chained to the wall, but she certainly wasn't leaving. maybe in the future they'd grant some measure of a leash – so long as she with one of them – but they provide for her. there's no need for things like family, jobs, other people, personal space

The bitter sound of Lilith’s alarm clock shot her awake. It’s not like she was sleeping much anyway. Nightmares and lying awake at night are par for the course when it comes to working with the FBI and seeing the worst criminals.

Or at least that’s what she’s telling herself. However, somewhere deep inside her brain, she knows she was lying awake last night because of Spencer and his behavior. He’s been coming over for a year. They had a routine for God’s sake.

Lily stared up at the same spot of the ceiling she had been staring at before exhaustion swallowed her whole. She let out a frustrated groan, even though she wanted to scream.

She mentally cursed at herself for getting so upset over a slight behavior change. Lily finally shook her head, clearing her thoughts, and sat up, swinging her feet over the side of her bed. The cold hardwood was grounding her.

“No, Lilith. It’s fine.”

The words ring in her hand as she stands up and sleepily stumbles to the kitchen. Maybe she'll be okay if she gets some coffee in her system.

Her actions became blurry as muscle memory took over: coffee, three sugars, milk. She leaned against the side of her counter as she finally took a sip, letting the warmth spread from her throat to her chest.

Lily continues her morning routine: shower, hair, makeup, and outfit. Today, she blew out her chestnut colored hair and wore a purple blazer. Spencer’s favorite color—no. Jesus, what was wrong with her today?

By the time she gets to the BAU office, she is strangely calm—way calmer than at home. Maybe it was just her being alone with her thoughts that did it.

The elevator door opens, and the familiar scent of coffee and office air washes over her. She smiles when she walks deeper into the building, nearing the bullpen, with all sorts of sounds around her: people walking in and out of offices, others getting up and down from their office chairs, and doors opening and shutting.

Something about the quiet chaos around her made her smile. It was familiar.

“Good morning, mama.” Morgan smiled with that charming smile that would make any woman swoon.

“Morning, Derek.” Lilith smiled back as she sat her things at her desk. Then, Penelope Garcia came into the bullpen. Lily smiled. Penelope was Lily’s best friend ( if it wasn’t Spencer. )

“Hi, sugar plum.” Garcia greeted.

“Hi, honey.” Lilith smiled at her with her teeth, a rare sight. Speaking of rare sights, “What are you doing out of your office?” She asked.

“Mama bear has to get her coffee every once in a while.” Garcia joked, walking her way into the break room. Lilith followed.

“And chocolate?” Lily raises her eyebrow and gives her a knowing look.

“Shhh!” Penelope laughs as pink flushes on her cheeks, knowing who Lily was talking about. Lily laughs along with her, hugs Penelope, a silent “See you later,” and walks back out to the bullpen and her desk

A few moments after she sits down, the elevator dings, and she looks up. She can see Spencer prepare himself to put on that fake smile he shows everyone but her. And it’s even worse that the smile he puts on happens to be the most charming Lilith has ever seen.

Lily looks down at the files on her desk. Her brain tells her not to say anything or even look at him. She doesn't even know why. However, the other part desperately pleads to look up at her best friend.

Ultimately, her brain wins out, and she keeps her head down until he takes his place on the desk next to hers.

“Good morning, Spence.” She says as he finally looks up. She gives him her signature smile and sweet voice.

He just nodded, didn’t even look up.

Lily felt that feeling last night; when he walked himself out, and it started consuming her. She sat back and stared forward. What the fuck? She repeated in her head. First, was it sadness, confusion, annoyance, and then maybe anger? She didn’t know which

Lily sighed and got up, walking back into the break room to make a coffee. She grabs a cup, and a million things run through her head. Did I do something last night that explains all of this? Is he mad? Is it something that has nothing to do with me? By the time she’s done overthinking, she looks down at her hands, and there are two cups of coffee, one for her and one for Spencer. She even wrote their names on them.

Lily looked down and sighed, thinking for a moment. She didn’t want to throw it away; that would be a waste. Maybe the coffee would make him feel better. She’d be sure she made his coffee right if her muscle memory took over. It’s ingrained into her brain: black, two sugars, no creamer.

She took one last deep breath before pushing the door open, walked back to the bullpen, and set the cup of coffee on his desk without a word.

However, Spencer still sticks to his theme of the day. Ignoring Lilith. She stood there for a second. Waiting for something. But, of course, nothing comes.

She tried not to sigh as she sat back at her desk. Lily sipped her coffee, feeling an immediate bitter taste in her mouth. Whatever, she thought to herself and pushed it away from her.

Not long after, Hotch comes into the bullpen, alerting them that they officially have a new case and must be in the roundtable room in 15 minutes. After those 15 minutes, they all shuffle into the roundtable room and take their unassigned assigned seats. This time, Lily sees what looks like Spencer tugging JJ into the seat that Lily typically sits in. She feels a weird pang in her chest.

Why? is the only question that lingers in her mind. However, she says nothing; she is working for God’s sake. Focus. Eventually, she shakes her head to clear her thoughts, sits in JJ's typical spot, and tries to focus on the case presented before her.

A string of college-age males are being killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The profiles for each victim are different, and they are of all different ages, hair colors, skin colors, etc. The only thing that is the same is their ages and the fact they were in Minneapolis. The thing is, though, they were all from out of state.

Lily writes that down on her notepad, and she hears Spencer scoff. She is sure it is directed towards her and knows she’s aggravated. She can feel his eyes on her. A shiver runs up her spine.

our ceo wanted to do a ride along with one of our techs. they got into a fight because that tech essentially said that he's been doing this job for 10 years, and he doesn't want someone who has never been in the field telling him how he should do his work. so now he's riding along with me (the most agreeable tech we have atm lmao).

anyways i spent the last half of my day going over everything with him, and in that time i've discovered that one of the new sop's we're following was made by chatgpt, one of the other changes we're making I didn't know how to implement, and so we couldn't do it because our ceo doesn't know how to do it either, and the big overhaul isn't ready yet, so now i have to go into the shop an hour and a half early to prepare it tomorrow.

Serendipity should be required viewing material before anyone tries to analyze Homestuck; not only is John Cusack a universal constant, but the themes and vibes of Serendipity are so fundamentally woven into Homestuck's DNA that several of Serendipity's thesises and conversations could be lifted directly from one to the other.

In particular, the way Serendipity utilizes coincidence and circumstantially simultaneous events in order to suggest - nay, decree - that the two leads belong together, is highly reminiscent of the way Hussie uses foreshadowing, and not just for romantic couples. It's also a major window into the ultimate stance Homestuck takes with regard to romance, fate, and destiny, and also more specifically, a really good look at Karkat's own personal philosophies of romance. There's a running theme in his movies of meeting someone that perfectly matches your freak, someone you don't ever need to compromise yourself around, who brings out the best in you.

Yeah, I think your instincts are right - it's a truly adorable bit of transformative fandom, but I'm 95% percent sure it's not comics canon. Barbara has canon plushies, but I don't think anyone else does.

I got kinda invested in the investigation (it's hard to prove a negative!) and I ended up typing out an entire History of Elinore/Zitka, so, uh, if you're curious, meet me below the cut for:

We're gonna go in chronological order!

Dick's circus elephant friend was first created for practical reasons: in Batman 436, Marv Wolfman does a big expanded flashback to Dick's circus backstory as a way to subtly show us Tim before officially introducing him (so that we can have a technically-solvable mystery-of-Tim's-identity in LPoD). In this comic, there's an elephant named Elinore who loves Dick:

Batman 436 comes out in August 1989. New Titans 60 comes out a few months later, in November, and guess what? When Dick visits the circus, he is suddenly surprised by an unexpected blast from the past! It turns out that even though it's been years, Elinore still remembers him!

Here's the part where Elinore remembers Dick:

SUCH a cute elephant. I love her.

(Guess who else still remembers Dick even though it was so long ago. Guess which other character is about to be an unexpected blast from the past. Guess which character Elinore is directly paralleling guess guess guess sorry everything is about Dick and Tim in my mind but I can focus I swear)

Four years later, in 1993, Batman: The Animated Series retells Dick's origin story. They like and keep Wolfman's elephant, but they change her name to Zitka:

Wolfman doesn't return to the elephant beyond those two appearances, and a few years down the line, New Titans gets cancelled and Wolfman's not writing Dick anymore anyway. So the animal gets abandoned for a while, until Devin Grayson, a fan of both Wolfman and B:tAS, revives the Wolfman-era Titans team in JLA/Titans and then the ongoing series Titans 1999.

Grayson then brings back the elephant in a flashback to Dick's past in Titans 16 (Jun 2000), where she imports the B:tAS name. Sometimes I'm skeptical of TV-to-comics imports, but honestly, I endorse this one. You lose the alliteration, which is a shame, but IMO Zitka is a better elephant name than Elinore.

Here's Dick with the newly-christened Zitka in Titans 16:

Grayson also briefly references the elephant in Gotham Knights 20 and - in a final angsty callback - in Nightwing 88 (Feb 2004), where Zitka tries futilely to comfort Dick in the midst of his trauma conga line:

... And... honestly, I think that's it for comic appearances? The two Wolfman comics plus the three Grayson comics.

Both Wolfman and Grayson are writing multiple titles - Batman, New Titans, Titans, Gotham Knights, and Nightwing between the two of them, spanning a big chunk of Dick's post-Crisis canon - and both writers use the elephant for heartwarming moments of nostalgia, which means if you're doing a post-Crisis readthrough for Dick, Elinore/Zitka feels memorable. But I don't think she actually shows up that much.

For post-2011, I am not as well-informed - throwing this out to the dash? anyone know? - but I feel like Zitka the heartwarming symbol of Dick's heartwarming circus past is, uh, thematically very at odds with the Court of Owls evil!circus vibes, so my instinct is that this story element was almost certainly dropped in the reboot.

In WFA, yes; in main comics continuity, no. Technically, I have not read every comic ever published, so I could be wrong!! But I don't think so.

Below, find my rambling reasoning on the tonal vibes of pre-Crisis, post-Crisis, and post-2011, and why this particular story element doesn't seem right to me for the first two.

Pre-Crisis (...okay, mostly the Silver Age): stuffed animal, yes or no?

tl;dr no, requires too much background knowledge on the part of the reader, plus the elephant wasn't a thing until later

Elinore doesn't get created until post-Crisis, but also just generally, pre-Crisis callbacks are more along the lines of this reference in Batman 129 (published in 1960), where, wow, Batman and Robin are hunting jewel thieves - and it turns out Robin recognized this strongman! BUT HOW?!

The comic goes on to recap Dick's entire origin story in flashback, on the assumption that you may not know it.

(BTW, if you'd like to know more about Haly's Circus throughout the years, nightwingology has a great post here summarizing a lot of fun plotlines and characters!)

Basically: Silver Age comics are very self-consciously episodic and kid-friendly; they're not generally gonna do overly-elaborate callbacks because they don't know what comics their kid readers may have randomly picked up or remember.

By the time of post-Crisis, comic books were being written for an adult audience buying from the direct market, i.e. readers who are collecting whole runs & don't need or want Dick's origin story to be recapped to us in full every time it's referenced. That's why in post-Crisis, we get stuff like "hey, neat, this particular soda brand is getting mentioned in several different books!!" or "in order to understand this story arc, buy SIXTEEN DIFFERENT COMICS in FIVE DIFFERENT RUNS and read them ALL ACCORDING TO A NUMBERED ORDER and also you better be following the individual plotlines and recognize these five minor characters who we don't bother to introduce!! Good luck!!" But the elaborate post-Crisis plotlines - and subtler worldbuilding like a stuffed animal callback to Dick's backstory - don't make a lot of story sense UNLESS you're imagining your readers as completionist adult fans.

So IMO a stuffed animal wouldn't be a pre-Crisis thing unless it was The Episodic Story Of the Week, and I don't think a stuffed animal is action-adventure-y enough for the fast-paced storytelling of the Silver Age. (Unless it, like, came to life and tried to eat you or something.)

Post-Crisis: stuffed animals, yes or no?

tl;dr: no, Dick's a manly tough guy, he's not gonna have a stuffed animal, that'd be lame, like something Tim might do

Part of the edgy grimdark adult vibes in 80s/90s comics is that some characters who used to be kinda silly & goofy & lighthearted - like Batman and Robin - get reimagined as Serious and Angsty and Edgy in a Tough Cool Manly Brooding Way. This massively affects characterization for Bruce, Dick, and Bruce and Dick's relationship.

(I obviously love this change & love the tense Bruce-and-Dick interactions, but plenty of fans of the earlier fluffy comics really disliked the edgy retcons of Miller / Wolfman / Starlin / et al.)

The upshot is that post-Crisis is a period when you could have a recurring reference like a stuffed elephant, but you wouldn't have a stuffed elephant, not for Dick. I think a toy like that would be too cutesy / childish / effeminate to give a male character in post-Crisis, unless you were poking fun at him.

Now, you could probably let Tim have a stuffed animal, because Tim is sometimes cool but also sometimes a tryhard loser who is faking being cool and not entirely pulling it off (see e.g. the Robin comic where he practices tough-guy faces in the mirror, or the Teen Titans comic where Conner discovers his cringy Enya CD, or when he's fanboying over Connor and it's awkward, etc etc.). A stuffed animal would be deeply embarrassing, and you'd have to be careful to compensate by having Tim do something cool afterward - but Tim's character concept allows for "he's kind of a loser sometimes."

But Dick isn't!! In post-Crisis, Dick's a tough / impressive / "cool guy" character, the kind of guy anyone would want to be, even in the flashbacks where he's Robin, and even in the stories where he's more lighthearted than angsty. It'd be kinda lame for Dick to have a stuffed elephant, so he wouldn't. I feel like Dick would be more likely to poke fun at it if someone had one, like when he's making fun of Wally for liking the Hardy Boys. Dick could have a Batman action figure, at most, and if he had one he would have it ironically.

Basically: in post-Crisis, a male character hugging a stuffed elephant feels more likely to be a punchline to me, not something poignant. (Even with Tim, Tim could have an embarrassing stuffed animal, but he couldn't hug it when sad - that's too far. Maybe Booster Gold might do this. Probably he wouldn't, but spiritually, he would. Sorry Booster ilu! <3)

Instead, Dick instinctively deals with his inner turmoil like the TORTURED ACTION HERO he is: by punching things and brooding and yelling and joining the mob and sleeping on rooftops and going on obsessive secret missions and acquiring Angsty Stubble!! Just like Batman!

(Technically I don't know if Bruce ever joined the mob but you know he would.)

Anyway as you know this is my favorite continuity and I am poking fun affectionately, but uh, yeah sdfsfdsfs. No stuffed animals.

Post-2011 / Infinite Frontier / Wayne Family Adventures: stuffed animals, yes or no?

tl;dr it's in WFA! Probably not anywhere else, but it could be.

Post-2011 stuff tends to be cutesier overall, most of all in the current Infinite Frontier era. So I don't feel like this would be tonally out-of-line with IF comics. Taylor tends to go for more meme-y references rather than fanfic references, though.

So the obvious best fit is WFA, which is aiming for a rough approximation of Silver Age family-friendly vibes - wholesome, episodic plots, Teaching Good Moral Lessons For The Youth, etc. - plus lots of Easter eggs for fanfic readers and some comic references.

Fun Questions to Be Asked

What are three things you'd say shaped you into who you are?

There are many things, of course, that have shaped me into who I am. Narrowing it down to three things is tough, but I think I have it.

Anime/Manga

This one feels like a given, but truly, I don't know where or who I'd be without anime/manga in my life. Two of the earliest shows I remember watching as a child were Sailor Moon and Pokemon. The stars truly aligned for me as I was the exact age demographic for them. I cannot tell you how much I adored those shows as a child. They were everything to me and opened me up to a world of TV I still watch and cherish. They remain cornerstones to my friendships and I would not change that for anything.

Video Games - particularly Pokemon and Fire Emblem

Adding onto my prior point, it only seems natural to talk about my love of video games. As stated, Pokemon was one of my earliest shows as a child, but one I didn't stick around with for too long. I fell off watching Pokemon midway through the Johto arc as I grew up. However, what remained with me were the video games.

Like any child, when Pokemon first came out I wanted to play the video games due to my neighbour receiving Pokemon Red as a birthday gift. Within a month my parents bought me Pokemon Yellow and thus my world opened to video games.

However, I have to credit the continual love of video games not just to my Gameboy and GBA games but also my neighbour. While I was stuck with handheld consoles, he also had a NES and later a GameCube. This is where my love of other video games such as Kirby, Super Smash Bros., Pokemon Stadium, and Harvest Moon grew.

But nothing made more of an impact on me than Fire Emblem. I still remember sitting in his basement, watching him play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. I remember us restarting over when a character died because that was when FE only had Traditional Mode.

Now, I am certain that I would have found FE eventually, but it's this memory of me and my neighbour that sits at the core of me and makes these games extra special. No matter which FE game I play and love, at the end of the day there is always a part of me that longs to return to that basement with my neighbour and play FE PoR and RD.

My Neighbour

This one is going to get a little heavy, but I'll try to keep it vague.

Above all, the neighbour I grew up with is someone I'll always treasure and hold dear in my heart. There are too many carefree, happy memories with him. I already mentioned video games, but our lives intersected beyond a shared interest. We did almost everything together and spent countless hours in each other's presence. The secrets I know about him and the secrets he knows about me are vast and endless.

I also have some sad memories. I can still see the saddest one in my mind. The regret I feel now because I was too young to fully understand, but we all were at that time.

These memories all hold a special place in my heart and without a doubt shaped me into who I am today.

4. What's an inside joke you have with your family or friends?

I have so many inside jokes but one of my top favourite inside jokes of all time is "Beaky/Beak Boy". I am still not over the fact I was so confident that my mom would remember the name Giovanni (Fire Force). Instead what I got was her only remembering him by the name "Beaky/Beak Boy".

In general I think romance is when you do and share things you love with the people you love. There doesn't need to be some grand or expensive gesture. So long as it's done out of admiration and love, that's romantic to me. It's the "I was thinking of you messages" or the "I want to cook/bake for you". It's the hugs and snuggles at the end of the long day. It's the considerate "Do you want me to do this for you?". It's the teasing and the jokes. Or it's the "I know had an argument but that's just what happens in relationship and at the end I love you always".

Acceptance, love, and admiration: that's what's romance!

However if I'm talking about dating specifically I think nothing is more romantic than when you're doing a fun activity together. Things like going to galleries, museums, or a play/live theatre, cooking/baking together, and going to some fun public event are all optimal date activities to me.

24. What's one thing you're proud of yourself for?

I'm proud of myself for working up the courage all those years ago to post my fanfiction to AO3. I remember being so nervous and worried at the beginning but it's been one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

30. What's one thing that never fails to make you happy/happier?

Book shopping with friends. I think that's the best activity to do in the world with those you cherish. It's also a top tier date idea for me like "Oh, let's have lunch and then book shop" uh, marry me??

Bsd ocs are hard man. You know how in bsd literally (almost) everyone is just named after and based off of famous (and dead) authors and if they have abilities then they also must reference them/their works like 99% of the time.
