I remember when I was in my first year at university and we had an assignment for my theatre class to go and watch the production the department was putting on that semester. It was called The Nether written by Jennifer Haley. It explores the ethical questions of virtual reality, and it follows a story where pedophiles act out their violent desires with other virtual users on what is basically an advanced VRChat. It made me physically uncomfortable, and there were points where I couldn't watch. But that was the point. It was written to make people uncomfortable, because it's supposed to bring light to the very uncomfortable reality about the dangers of these unrestricted online spaces. The purpose of its existence was to make people go "Oh my god, that was awful."
That performance was so impactful that I still remember exactly how it made me feel that night even 7 years later, and it has definitely given me a different perspective on these VR spaces, and of many children's unrestricted access to the internet. Would I still hold these opinions if I had not seen that play? Maybe, but maybe I would not have been prompted to be as thoughtful about it had I not been so deeply affected by the performance. Art is meant to stick with you, to show you parts of the world that you would have otherwise been unaware of. And yes, sometimes that means it's uncomfortable and possibly even disturbing. Art like that is also worthwhile and necessary.
I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

Look I think I said it before somewhere but I need to talk about it again.
Aziraphale (in the show - his characterization differs in the book and I’m talking about show Aziraphale here) is a soft character. He started out as a soldier and he made the conscious decision to give the sword away to someone who would use it for protection, instead of keeping it to fight (leaving out the whole thing about War owning it later on cause that’s a different topic and definitely wasn’t what Aziraphale had in mind when giving away the sword). He also makes a conscious decision to look and act as non-threatening as possible, instead deciding to look soft and huggable and gay as hell a tree full of monkeys on nitrogen oxide. We don’t see him fighting anybody even when he gets the sword back - he just holds it and swings it around a little, he doesn’t even lift it when they face Satan (I think. I’d have to go back and watch again but I’m fairly sure he just stands in the background behind Adam with the tip of the sword facing the ground).
We know, or at least suspect from the scene where he fixes the hole in the wall that he’s physically strong and we know he’s still technically a soldier in Heavens eyes (Gabriel going „you’re a lean mean fighting machine“ and him having and possibly leading a platoon in Heaven) but he fully rejects that position in episode five to go back to Earth. He doesn’t want to be a soldier at all. He’s still a protector, we see this in season two with Jimbriel (he literally says „I said I would protect you and I will), but even THEN he doesn’t physically fight the demons entering the bookshop (he lights the circle but it’s Maggie and Nina throwing fire extinguishers and encyclopedias).
I know we as the fandom love badass Aziraphale. I love badass Aziraphale as well. I take a little bit of an issue with how him actually being badass is portrayed in fanfic sometimes because a lot of trying to make him physically fight demons comes across as trying to make him more masculine, more fit, less the campy, soft, kind character that he is and it annoys me. (A part of that is also how people try to make him more like Crowley, which I don’t like the undertones of either but that’s a whole different topic.) Both because I don’t like the implication that to make him badass you have to change that part of his character and because we’ve seen him being badass in the show already and it was either a) trying to protect humans/Crowley/Jimbriel, which involved a lot more threatening that him actually throwing hands or on one occasion b) him being bitchy (Furfur pronouncing his name wrong). It was him being kind and caring about people and their lives! And possibly their reading skills.
And I know there’s a lot of hope for more badass Aziraphale in season three, because hell yeah, Heaven getting obliterated from the inside? Absolutely. But when we get to see BAMF Aziraphale in season three (because I don’t doubt we will, in some form or other) I’d much rather see him be badass by outsmarting Heaven (magic tricks anybody?) and getting away with it or threatening the Metatron or whatever than by punching somebody in the face. And IF he does have to use physical violence, then I want there to be a reason for it and I want it to be portrayed as a bad thing. Like I want I to be the absolutely lowest point of the character because we know how much he detests doing it and he hates having to do it anyways.
In that case also want it to end with the Metatron dead in a ditch.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is one of those movies where you could throw a theory out and nothing is wrong.
Which is why it sucks as a linear story plot.
And I love this franchise to death, loved the sequel too. But it does have its errors with plot holes about civil servants (especially BJ himself), a contract being broken by the Handbook despite both parties agreeing (+ that didn't involve Afterlife authority intervention to begin with), and Richard not being able to see Lydia was never?? Explained?? Delores wanting immortality despite already being dead, Lydia's mom still being alive, ugh, etcetera etcetera. The list goes on. This sequel leaves us with more questions than answers. And that's the point - we're supposed to assume how to fill in those gaps, which doesn't work well in this case without proper seeds to find it.
This movie ends us off with a "What the fuck was that ending?" because seriously, what the fuck was that ending? If not putting their foot in the door for a third movie setup, they want us to talk about it and theorize it from the ground up.
I personally think the dream started when BJ said "I love a good dream sequence" and Delores coming in, and Lydia backing out of the deal was his worst nightmare. As far as I'm concerned, they're happily married and sleep in the same bed together. That's my take on it. Nothing more. The Babyjuice at the end is just a fun gag and reference to Carrie (2013).
But at face value, this movie is nothing more than a love story between Lydia and Beetlejuice. Like that's it. It's just Beetlejuice trying his hardest to win over Lydia and he almost gets her. I'd argue that's the only plot point where the movie takes itself seriously, haha
The only thing that will disprove any of these theories or clear up some or plot holes is a BJ3, which I highly doubt is gonna happen. And this sequel ends off on a Beetlebabes-ish note either way, I'd take that as a win

IK in Marvel you're nuts for shipping a gay couple unless it's confirmed without a shadow of a doubt onscreen (which is a horrible precedent I think was set when they said Stucky were just friends because let's be real if all that can add up to welp just friends then how can any ship with less than that possibly be legit, right) bUT all that being said the Lokius energy? great. I'm not going to pat Marvel on the back and say this is enough, but I am going to say that for them setting the same-sex heavily-implied love interest next to the opposite-sex are-we-going-to-pretend-this-never-happened love interest and making it unclear if Loki was speaking to one (or both) of them was a pretty big stride forward. They might be coming out of the era of the big neon no-homo, because the Marvel that's been so homophobic in recent years would never have left that door open for considering, would have made sure Mobius was far offscreen when that happened, would have made Sylvie the only important relationship Loki had in the season, would not have put in all the little moments (I direct you to the Don episode: the hair-fixing by Loki, the way Mobius kinda flirts with him the whole time, the way Loki is drawn to Mobius' timeline more than anyone else's, the way the camera focuses on Mobius so close to when Loki is having his "WHO" epiphany, etc.; not to mention the ways they reach out to each other throughout the season, just a little intimate touch here and there, a hand on an arm, an arm around a waist; the fact that when Loki timeslipped back he looked to where Mobius was first, the way he went to Mobius for advice when he was completely out of options, the way he and Mobius trust each other to use torture boxes and help decide the fate of the multiverse, the way they, together, were a focal point of the season, that they were a unit of two, that they were so loath to be separated). In media as a whole, is this big? Not really. For Marvel specifically, in its own little pocket context? Big step. Immense. I really want to believe maybe they're opening the door for us and we just jam our foot in the gap hard enough they'll get the message that we're a fanbase to be reckoned with and that maybe they do want to spend the effort on us after all. I love Marvel. It was an important part of my childhood and I keep watching it now even though it's kind of a mixed bag. I want to be a part of it. I want the Lokius fanbase and the Sambucky fanbase to win where the Stucky fanbase was shut down. Those little moments were intentional and beautiful and I'm incredibly happy they exist. I want them to lead to something more.

lying on my floor listening to ‘you can’t catch me now’ from ballad of songbirds and snakes on repeat trying to muster up the energy to write the jason & bruce inspired grief and narrative haunting central fic i plan on writing eventually
i mean look at the lyrics yall it’s perfect canon au atmospheric inspo for a dual switching pov
like bruce standing atop one of gotham’s crumbling buildings, perched on a gargoyle, snow and sleet hammering unforgivingly on his kevlar as he stares unblinkingly at Arkham’s foreboding walls- at the bars that cover the joker’s cell- contemplating.
‘There's snow fallin' over the city
You thought that it would wash away
The bitter taste of my fury
And all of the messes you made
Yeah, you think that you got away’
but then a series of flashes of different moments of jason make their way through his brain and he cannot bring himself to muddy jason’s his robin’s memory, he won’t allow his son’s existence to be drenched in any more blood, not the boy that was so full of sunshine and laughter and fierce protectiveness
‘… But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze
My footsteps on the ground
You'll see my face in every place
But you can't catch me now
Through wading grass, the months will pass
You'll feel it all around
I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
But you can't catch me now
No, you can't catch me now’
and then the pov switches- and it’s jason, on his bike hurtling towards the flashing and wind battered city looming in the distance before him, chest warmed by the fire within him. It being endlessly fueled by the constant thrum of rage and betrayal and heartbreak and the aching need for the monster Joker to be far far in the depths of the earth forever where he will never hurt another robin, another child again
‘You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down
You can't, you can't catch me now’
there’s like, plot inbetween this point but there’s a pov switch again and it’s bruce and jason standing on opposite sides of a building, wind whipping around them accentuating the silence laid between them, rife with unspoken words and festering emotions, a clown’s corpse lying a few feet away from them- its blood spraying the wall behind it as well as the revolver held in the shaky hand of a 19 year old stood in front of the father who didn’t save him in the end- the same father that doesn’t recognise the ghost of the son that he remembers softly laying deep into the earth all those months ago..
‘… There's blood on the side of the mountain
It's turning a new shade of red
Yeah, sometimes the fire you founded
Don't burn the way you'd expect
Yeah, you thought that this was the end’

a little ramble about the "ralsei is kris's old horn headband" theory (and why i don't think it's true):
i think the biggest issue i have with it/piece of evidence against it is the darkners are shown to have some memory of when they're objects. for example, chapter 1 darkners like seam and the spade king talk about being abandoned by the lightners, i.e. being left in the abandoned classroom, sweet cap'n cakes talk about what queen was like before the fountain showed up in their shop dialogue, in the spamton sweepstakes twitter qna it's implied that spamton knows noelle because she would always check her spam email despite this being well before the chapter 2 dark fountain could have been created, and there's probably others that i'm not thinking of off the top of my head.
so keeping all that in mind, if ralsei were the headband i feel like there would be some implication of him recognizing kris or at least having known lightners previously, but instead he talks about never having had friends before and waiting his whole life in castle town for the heroes in the prophecy to show up. this would only really make sense to me if he spent all his time as an object in the supply closet, or what feels more likely to me, that he is purely darkness, purely imagination, and not tied to an object at all.
i guess you could say that maybe ralsei forgot or lost his memories, or was told by someone else that he has to keep his identity a secret, but to me there just currently isn't enough evidence for why that would be the case, at least compared to what feels like the simpler explanation that being an object just might not apply to him, in the same way that turning to stone doesn't apply to him or being able to travel to other dark worlds does. ralsei is more different from the other darkners than he is similar in a lot of regards, and i think it would make sense for there to be a slightly deeper explanation for that than simply the fact that he's from the castle town fountain.
of course none of this explains why he's implied to look like asriel, which i think is the question most easily answered by the theory that ralsei is the headband. my best guess right now would be that it has something to do with connecting him to kris who is in turn connected with the player, but honestly i don't have much in terms of ideas on this one, at least until we possibly learn more about how ralsei or castle town even came to exist in the first place.
and of course, all of that said, this is all still just a theory and maybe i'm wrong! even while typing this up and thinking of possible counterarguments i've considered things i didn't think of before, and i do think it's a cute headcanon and it'd be fun if it did somehow end up being true, even if i don't think it's the most likely explanation at this point.

gonna just say-
i LOVE mk11 raiden with all my heart and soul
but i also really, really love mk1's versions of him too
i LIKE that he's not exactly like the other generations of mk
i LIKE that mk11 raiden is an utter dilf of a god (and unbelievably unhinged lmao), and then mk1 raiden is the sweetest, softest man ever seen (and he DESERVES THE CHANCE to be a little unhinged)
i like BOTH and i see so much love for one over the other and i'm like??? they're both so mf GOOD THOUGH?????? Y'ALL ARE CHOOSING BETWEEN THEM?!
so what if mk1 raiden isn't a god anymore? i like the new substance added to the new storyline! so what if he's younger? i think it adds a cool new element in a lot of ways that gives a lot of room for story development
and there's so much more than this rolling around in my brain, but idk, i think they're both neat boyos <3

kind of baffled by how many ppl thought "collector returns to the stars" meant "collector went to return to their family." I doubt that the only 2 things in this universe is the planet the boiling isles is on and wherever the archivists are from, and I feel like the point was very much that the collector is leaving the planet/realm he was trapped on for ages to explore the vastness of space and meet new people. Its obviously him putting his own spin on what the archivists do, to learn from all that is out there in the universe hands-on rather than kept frozen in time behind a glass.

I read a post that completely opened my eyes on how I feel about jjk and the reason I was emotionally detached on how it ended and of the loss of other characters.
It wasn't because of the continuous deaths nor of the endless fightings and fast pacing of the manga but rather with the lack of fillers to provide world building and develop character relationship and interactions.
After the shibuya arc, there was no silly fillers post shibuya. Too many characters died and many new characters introduced yet there wasn't enough chapter that provided character interaction and for them to grow. Even a bonus chapter would have been fine to at least create emotional impact within the viewers (heck I would gobble up even a written note or story at the end of each manga if it happened). Without this things the characters imo felt flat, there was no depth, seeing them die or in critical conditions in the fight, I didn't even mind nor care.
Personally I would've liked to see silly interactions with other characters just joking around or story centric fillers that would have developed the world building.
