As soon as the electric kettle clicks, signaling to you that the water inside of it has been boiled, you unplug it and pour the water into a mug youâd pulled from the cabinets. It still surprised you that there were any mugs left, with how many people kept stealing to put on their desk to hold pencilsâby people, you mean Soap, and only Soapâbut you werenât complaining.Â
You set the kettle back down once the mug is filled up just an inch below the brim and grab the tea bag youâd grabbed earlier, wrapping the string around the handle of the mug a few times before putting the bag itself into the water. Almost immediately, you see small tendrils of dark brown flow out from the drowned tea bag into the originally clear water.Â
As that happens, you walk the small few steps over to the small fridge from the kettle and open it, grabbing the small carton of cream and closing the fridge shut. You walk back over to the mug and unscrew the cap of the carton, pouring some cream into the mug, adding a half inch of height to the liquid already in the mug before screwing the cap back on and setting the carton down.
You donât bother to grab a spoon and mix anything yet, instead reaching over to the small terracotta container beside the coffee machine that contained sugar, and taking off the lid.Â
You think for a moment if you should grab a spoon for this, but ultimately decide against it, instead just tipping the container over the mug and letting what you hope is two teaspoons of sugar spill over into the mug.
Afterwards, you put the lid back on the container holding the sugar and set it back next to the coffee machine, and grab the cream to put back into the fridge.Â
Once the creamâs been put back, you open the drawers in the counter and grab a small spoon, one thatâs just tall enough that it wonât be fully submerged in the tea, and put it into the mug.
You close the drawer and give the tea a few stirs before picking up the mug, being careful of the scalding heat and holding it solely by its handle. You carefully walk out of the snack bar extension of the kitchen and head towards Priceâs office.Â
After a year or two of working with him, youâve learned a lot about his tea preferencesâhe likes Yorkshire tea, the original one, not the gold. He only likes cream and sugar in his coffee, just to make it smoother and make it a bit sweeter, but doesnât like it too sweet.
You vaguely remember him telling you heâd never had honey or any other sweeteners besides a bit of sugar in his tea, and remember more vividly you thinking, God, thatâs such an old person thing to say, but not saying it out loud.Â
Once youâve reached his office, you knock a few times and Priceâs tired voice calls out, âCome in!âÂ
You open the door, careful to keep the mug from spilling in your hands, and walk in, closing the door behind you. Price looks up from his computer, presumably writing a report on the mission youâd all just come back from an hour or two ago, and offers a small smile when he sees you. Heâs about to say something before he catches sight of the mug in your hands.Â
âDid youâŚâ He doesnât finish his question, but you know what he was about to ask, and you nod in response.Â
âIf itâs too sugary let me know,â You tell him, setting the mug down a safe distance away from his computer, âI can remake it.âÂ
âI wonât make you remake it,â Price looks at you, almost offended, âYou didnât have to make me anything in the first place, but thank you, I really appreciate it.âÂ
âNo problem,â You hum, walking away, saying over your shoulder, âHope you like it.âÂ
You open the door without another word and walk out, closing it behind you, heading right back to the snack bar. Now for Soap.Â
Soap typically preferred coffee to tea, despite teaâs popularity in Scotland. Heâd told you that he really couldnât taste the difference between different coffee blends, but upon hearing that there was a Scottish blend, he declared heâd only drink that one, because of course he did.Â
He pretended he could tell if the coffee he was drinking was of that Scottish blend, but you knew he couldnât. How did you know? Youâd only ever given him Scottish roast once. Every other time since then, itâs been French roast.Â
Heâs never really used a coffee machine for himself, going to cafes or coffee shops most of the time for coffee, keeping his usual coffee order written in his notes app because he couldnât remember it for the life of him.
Heâd sometimes modify his order if certain coffee shops didnât do certain things that he usually got, but his order stays mostly the same every time he gets coffee. Medium (or grande, if heâs at Starbucks) latte with a double shot of espresso.Â
Typically, heâd get some shortbread too, but you didnât really have any in the base, so heâd have to do without it today.Â
Once you enter the snack bar, you grab another mug from the cabinets above the counter and place it under the coffee machine. You open the cabinets right by the ones that contained the mugs and grab a bag of ground French roast, pulling it out and putting it on the counter.Â
You open it up and find that thereâs conveniently already a small cup in there to scoop the coffee grounds up, and use your free hand to grab a new coffee filter from the same cabinets you got the coffee grounds from, swiftly putting it into the machine.Â
You use your other hand to scoop up some coffee grounds and put them into the filter, closing the top of the coffee machine afterwards and turning on the machine. Youâre grateful thereâs more options listed on the small digital screen that lights up on the machine than just plain black coffee, not really in the mood to try and steam milk right now.
You tap on the âlatteâ option and watch as the screen changes and hear the coffee machine start to whir.Â
As it does that, you put away the coffee grounds and open up the cabinets that contained mugs once again, pulling out a small espresso glass and setting it onto the counter.
You wait patiently for the coffee to brew, and once you hear the small beep sound from the machine that signals that itâs done, you pull away the steaming hot coffee and set it down right next to the coffee machine.Â
You quickly put the espresso glass under the machine and start it up again, this time tapping the âespresso shotâ optionâsurprised thatâs even an option, honestlyâand hearing the familiar whirring noise start up again. It doesnât take nearly as long as brewing the latte did, the small beep coming much sooner than it did just a minute or two earlier, and you pull away the small espresso glass from the machine almost immediately after you hear it.Â
You pause for a moment, looking at how much the latte part had filled up the mug, and look around for a moment before opening up the same drawer that contains the eating utensils and grabbing a straw, putting the straw in the still hot latteâis that a good idea? No. Did you do it anyway because you physically canât think before you act? Absolutelyâand taking a long sip of it.
You pull the straw out once the liquid in the mug is at a good inch below the brim and then pour in the espresso shot, setting the glass down after you do so.
You look around for a second for a trash bin and find one just a few steps away from you, quickly throwing out the straw youâd used and then walking back over to the empty espresso glass, picking it up and setting it down by the sink. God forbid we get a dishwasher in here or something, You think absentmindedly as you pick up the mug and carefully walk out of the snack bar with it, Would it hurt to at least get some dish soap in here or something?Â
You make it out of the snack bar without burning your fingers and start the much longer walk to Soapâs sleeping quarters. Youâd caught him walking out of his office in that direction earlier, so you can only assume that heâd gone there.Â
Once you make it there, you knock on the door a few times and wait for Soap to call out to you and allow you to come in before twisting the door knob and opening the door. Heâs laying on his back on his bed, thumb paused on his phone screen as he looks over at you as you enter. He notices the coffee and sits up a bit, grunting as he does.Â
He wasnât really as talkative after long missions like the one youâd all been on earlierâusually it took him a day or two to be more social and back to himself, so you didnât take much offense to him not greeting you as loudly as he usually did.Â
He nods at the coffee, âIs that for me?âÂ
âMhm,â You hum, handing him the mug, âBe careful, itâs hot.âÂ
âGot it,â Soap carefully takes the mug into his hands, and softly blows on it before looking at you again and grinning at you, âWeel, thank ye for this. Ye really didnae hae tae.âÂ
âPrice actually said the same thing,â You muse, almost to yourself, before speaking a little louder, âNo problem.â
âOh did he?â Soap asks, raising an eyebrow, before his expression shifts and he feigns confusion, âWait, how come he got a drink afore me?â
âBecause his office was closer to the snack bar,â You explain, crossing your arms.Â
â⌠Nae, itâs definitely âcause ye hate me,â Soap disagrees, shaking his head in mock disappointment, âAnd tae think I thought we were friends.âÂ
âIt is noâ you know what?â You begin to argue, before sighing and rolling your eyes, âI do hate you, and we were never friends, you ungrateful piece of shit.âÂ
Soap laughs, quieter than he usually does but itâs still a genuine laugh. He looks down at the coffee again and back at you, before saying, âThank ye. Again.âÂ
âNo problem,â You replied, walking back towards the door and opening it, walking out of Soapâs sleeping quarters and closing the door behind you. Now for Ghost.Â
Ghost typically liked tea more than coffee, but you think thatâs just the British in him talking. Realistically, you could give him either or, and heâd say a polite âthank youâ and move on.
From years of being apart of the 141, any preferences or additives he liked to put in his tea or coffee slowly dissipated and instead he just drank either one plain. Which should make the tasks youâve forced yourself to do today easier, but knowing you, you just couldnât take the easy route with this.Â
You remember a conversation with him that happened several months ago where you had been talking about your own tea and coffee preferences. Ghost had commented that he didnât often put any additives in his own hot drinks anymore, but back before heâd joined the military, he liked to drink keemun tea occasionally with nutmeg in it.Â
Keemun teaâwhich was fucking expensive by the way, costing around sixteen pounds for twenty tea bags in every store you could find them inâwasnât too hard to find, so the next time you went on leave after that conversation, youâd bought a box of bags of keemun tea leaves and some ground nutmeg.Â
You didnât let Ghost know about it, and kind of forgot about it just a week after you bought it, but now the memory of you buying it and storing it in the snack bar behind a few other boxes of tea bags has resurfaced and itâs the only thing you think is appropriate to give Ghost at a time like this.Â
You get back to the snack bar and almost robotically you pull a mug out from the cabinets above the counter and set it down on said counter, deciding to grab another one just so that you wouldnât have to do it later, and setting that one down right next to the other. You open the cabinet beside that and move some of the boxes out of the way to find the keemun tea box in the very back, right where you last left it.Â
You snatch it out of the cabinet and open it, pulling out a small packet and opening it up to pull out the tea bag inside. You go ahead and put the tea bag inside of the mug and put the tea box back in the cabinet, closing the small cabinet door afterwards.
You then grab the electric kettle thatâs right by the sink and pop open the lid, putting it under the faucet and turning said faucet on, waiting until the water fills a quarter of the kettle. Once it does, you turn off the faucet and put the kettle down right by the outlet on the wall.Â
You put the lid down and wait for it to click into place before you plug the kettle into the outlet and press the small button below the handle to turn it on, and listen as it starts to make a small whirring noise. You donât waste too much time just standing there, waiting for the water to finish boiling, instead putting the other mug youâd pulled out from the cabinets under the coffee machine and turning it on.Â
You tap on the âdecaf flat whiteâ option and watch the digital screen change and another whirring sound starts up, now coming from the coffee machine.
You were starting to make Gazâs while making Ghostâs drink because Gaz often made the mistake of drinking his coffee before it was cool enough to not burn his tongue, so if you made it earlier, itâd have more time to cool, and Gaz wouldnât have to wait as long before drinking it, therefore solving the whole âburning-his-tongue-because-heâs-impatientâ problem he has.Â
Gaz liked simple flat whites, and sure, he liked tea too, but nothing could top a good flat white for him. Heâd get them anywhere and everywhere he can, and you honestly admire his dedication to getting a flat white everywhere he goes.Â
The coffee machine finished up quickly, a small beep sounding from the machine as it stopped its whirring and a few more drops of coffee made it into the mug before it completely stopped. You pull the mug out from under the machine and set it aside for now, just waiting for the water to finish boiling in the kettle.Â
Once the kettle clicks and the whirring from that machine stops, you unplug it and pour some water into the empty mug youâd picked out for Ghost, waiting until itâs filled up about a half inch below the brim of the mug before taking the kettle away from the mug and pouring the rest of the unused water into the sink.Â
You set the kettle down beside the coffee machine where it belongs and check the drawer below the one that held the eating utensils, looking through some of the spices and drink additives in it before finally finding the ground nutmeg you needed.Â
You unscrew the cap and tilt the small spice jar over the mug, letting some of the powder spill into the mug before tilting it back and screwing the cap back on. You put it back in its spot and close that drawer, now opening the drawer above it and grabbing a small spoon, closing that one after youâve grabbed the spoon and putting the spoon into the mug to mix the spices in it around a bit.Â
You leave Gazâs mug on the counter, hoping that nobody steals it while youâre away, and instead pick up the mug meant for Ghost, carefully walking out of the snack bar with it.Â
Ghostâs office is fairly far away, but you still manage to get there without burning your fingers or anything on the mug. You knock on the door a few times and wait for Ghost to call out permission for you to come in before you open the door and walk in.Â
Ghost immediately looks over at you and spots the mug in your hand, but ignores it for now, instead opting to ask, âDid you need something, [c/n]?âÂ
âNot really,â You shrugged the best you could while holding scalding hot tea, âJust needed to give you this.âÂ
You set the mug down on Ghostâs desk before he can say another word, and watch as he eyes the mug with curiosity and confusion.Â
âWhatâs this?â He asks, carefully picking up the mug, holding the top up to his nose to smell it. Before you can answer his question, you see his eyes widen and he questions a little louder, âIs this⌠keemun? With nutmeg?âÂ
âYou can tell just from the smell?â You ask, mildly impressed, watching as Ghostâs gaze turns into one more in awe of the mug.Â
âYes, I can,â He mumbles, smelling the brim of the mug again, before looking over at you, âHow did you know I liked keemun with nutmeg in it?âÂ
âYou told me about it, like, a few months ago. Six months ago, maybe? I dunno.âÂ
âHow do you remember a conversation from six months ago?â
âIt was an important conversation, I guess?â You shrug, crossing your arms.Â
You watch in silence as Ghost eyes the tea and you take that as your sign to leave, walking towards the door, stopping right in front of it to twist the knob to open it before youâre interrupted by Ghost.Â
âWaitââ You turn your head and look at him over your shoulder, and immediately upon seeing his face, you think, oh my God is he tearing up? âThank you, [c/n]. I really appreciate it.âÂ
You offer a small smile and reply, âYeah, no problem. Enjoy your tea.âÂ
You open the door without another word and close it behind you, taking a deep breath before continuing down the hall back to the snack bar.Â
Youâre relieved when you get there and see the mug, still steaming a bit, still on the counter. You quickly walk over to it and pick it up, walking right back out the door with it and heading straight for Gazâs sleeping quarters. You remember him being so tired from the missionâyou donât know whether to hope heâs asleep and getting some rest, or to hope that heâs awake so you can properly hand him his coffee.Â
Once you make it to his sleeping quarters, you knock on the door, and thereâs no response for a few moments, making you think he might actually be asleep, but then you hear Gazâs drowsy voice call out, âYou can come in!âÂ
You open the door and see him rubbing the sleep from his eyes and sitting up on his bed, looking over at you. His lips twitch up into a small smile once he sees you and he lets his hand drop into his lap.Â
âHey, [c/n].â He looks over at the mug youâve brought with you, before raising an eyebrow, âYou brought something for me?âÂ
âVery bold of you to assume itâs for you,â You close the door behind you and walk closer to him, âBut yes, it is.âÂ
Gaz perks up a bit at that and happily takes the mug off of your hands once you hand it to him, and his smile grows significantly bigger once he sees youâve brought him a flat white.Â
âItâs decaf, donât worry,â You say, as if reading his mind, âI figured youâd still want some sleep after drinking it.âÂ
âAlways so considerate,â Gaz sighs teasingly, raising the mug to his lips like youâd thought he would. Thankfully, his tongue doesnât burn this time after he sips the coffee, and you let out a small sigh of relief at the fact.Â
âYou know me,â You respond dryly, crossing your arms as you watch Gaz take a few more sips of the coffee.Â
âThank you for this, by the way,â Gaz thanks you, taking another sip of the coffee before stating, âI hope you know youâre my favorite now.âÂ
âYour favorite what?âÂ
âJust my favorite, in general,â Gaz hums, âThis is the best flat white Iâve ever drunk. Ten out of ten.âÂ
âThanks,â You thank him flatly, âIt was made with love and a coffee machine I learned how to use yesterday.âÂ
âI can just taste the love in it.âÂ
âNot the coffee machine?â
âWell, itâs a bit concerning if someone can taste the coffee machine in their coffee, innit?â Gaz raises an eyebrow at you before taking another sip of his coffee.Â
âNot if itâs the one I used.âÂ
âWhatever you say,â Gaz mutters, taking yet another sip of his coffee, making you huff out a small laugh.Â
âYou enjoy your coffee,â You say before walking back over to the door, closing the door behind you as you walk out and letting out a tired breath, starting to head back to your own sleeping quarters.

Hii babe!! Omg Iâve been obsessed with your pajama pants book on wattpad for years I canât believe I found your tumblr, ur my favourite Connor writer.
Anyway I figured Iâd send an ask!! Maybe something with a daughter of Aphrodite reader? Could you do protective connor plss, I donât rly mind the scenario whether itâs creepy guy or like in a battle or whatever.
Thanks so much!! đŠˇđŠˇ
HEYYY HII OMG thank u blushes kicks feet!!!
the damsel in distress trope is so outdated and children of aphrodite def have sparkly pink bejeweled weapons so this being set on the battlefield is crossed out of the list. also i dont like the ending but idk ??

wc: 1.7k words
contains: erm the general creep u meet while minding ur own business idfk that's literally it
"G'morning, beautiful." Connor smiles down at you as you wake up from your rest. How many hours was that? Three? Four? A few hours as your beauty rest was better than none, so you let that worry go and sucked it up.
"Morning, Connor," you replied, your voice as sweet and smooth as ever. Your resting place today was hidden between two dumpsters behind a convenience store. At first, the idea revolted all three of you on the quest, but the events that followed that night gave you no choice, and the smell would mask your scent from any monsters. Fortunately, you had your perfume balm on you, enchanted to last for days, so smearing the stuff under your noses was a big help to battle the stench of the dumpsters.
You laid a hand on your boyfriend's shoulder. "Feeling better?" After getting into a car crash last night, his body was probably sore. He pulled a muscle in his shoulder, too. His brother Travis was knocked unconscious, so after hauling him through streets, you two had no choice but to seek shelter somewhere hidden. You only found out, when the sun rose, that you were stationed behind a convenience store. Great. Those things were like playgrounds to the sons of Hermes.
Connor stood up and stretched, testing his shoulder. "Yes! Good as new. Man, I wish mortal stores had stuff flavored with something that tastes like ambrosia."
You gazed up at him, pleased with the state he was in now. "Glad to hear," you smiled.
"Wait, they do. I love salt and vinegar chips. Oh, man, I hope Travis finds some."
You wrinkled your nose, but at the mention of food, your stomach growled. Aside from doing your best to nurse the boys back to a decent state last night, you also took first watch. That, and exhausting all your fighting skills, left you hungry.
You rummaged in your bag for a bottle of water to start your day as Connor picked up his. There you found your plastic bag of half-finished ambrosia, a flask of nectar, your first aid kit, your last change of clean clothes, your hair clip that transformed into your celestial bronze crossbow with a beaded charm around the handle, a magic blow-drier for emergencies, andâthere it was.
"Travis is inside. Let's go?" Connor held out a hand and helped you up from the ground, and the two of you walked into the convenience store. You caught a glimpse of Travis, but he didn't catch sight of you back. So instead you put your water back into your bag and headed for the bathroom.
There wasn't much work to do. Just a bit of dusting off your pants and a quick wash of your face and hands to feel clean. As always, you looked perfectly put together, roughed up but in a movie star way, thanks to being a daughter of Aphrodite. It was like those scratches and stray hairs framing your face were strategically placed by a personal makeup artist.
Zipping up your jacket in a way that complimented your figure and the rest of your outfit, you nudged the bathroom door closed with your foot on the way out. Neither of the boys were inside anymore. While you scanned the aisles for them, you felt a pair of eyes on you and turned towards the counter to see a toothy man wearing a puffer vest standing in line. "You lost, sweetheart?"
You didn't like how he looked you up and down. How you felt like you were being examined under his stare. You picked it up immediately, and it made your fists tighten. You simply shook your head, then made for the exit.
Travis and Connor were munching away at breakfast sandwiches and bagels. They handed you a sandwich of your choice and a bottle of yogurt drink and you ate it without complaint, the previous occurence quickly disappearing from your mind.
"Thanks," You mumbled, and then peeked into Travis's paper bag. It had even more sandwiches and snacks inside. Quickly, he wrapped them all up and stuffed them in his bag. "Snagged some extras on my way out." He grinned, satisfied with his work.
"Still headed for the next city hall, right?" He asked.
"Mhm." You took a folded up map out of your back pocket and opened it up. "There's a bus stop right there." You nodded in the general direction of the shed, tracing a manicured finger along the map.
You had to be honest, you were only doing that to look cool. Your dyslexia slowed you down in trying to look for your current location.
You followed Travis and Connor to the waiting shed, passing the map to the former. "Let me do that, love," Connor said as you sat down and began to open your yogurt drink. He took his seat beside you and opened your drink for you, passing it back along with a kiss. The gesture made your stomach flutter. No matter how many people would throw themselves at you and try to get your attention, nothing would ever beat the way Connor made you feel with his princess treatment.
However, your mood immediately soured when the guy from inside the convenience store appeared, sitting beside you and doing a little stretch. When he was done, he turned to you and smiled.
"You're a pretty one, you know that?"
The man's voice was gravelly and he sounded like he needed a drink. You kept your eyes on whatever you could stare at on the other side of the street. "Thank you," You replied.
"You here alone?"
"No," You replied, holding back the urge to grit your teeth. You started to tap your designer boots on the concrete, impatiently awaiting the bus.
"Hm. A doll like you shouldn't be here all by yourself."
You didn't reply. Internally, you gagged and made a face and cussed him out for having the audacity.
Connor tensed up beside you; you could feel it. You huffed and checked your nails, bored. Time seemed to go exceptionally slow while you were in this situation.
When you finally forced your head to turn to see why Connor was so pissed, you saw the guy literally ogling you, a smile on his face with dark eyes that seemed to bore into every bit of you they could find.
It was disgusting. You felt disgusting. Your skin crawled.
You crossed your arms over your torso and scowled, trying to seem as unappealing as possible. Desperate times call for desperate measures, or whatever the saying was. You put a hand on Connor's knee to reassure him that you could handle it, and switched on your meanest girl voice.
"Don't you know it's rude to stare?" You shot the guy your meanest girl glare. It worked, for a second, because the smile melted off his face.
Travis came along, pulling out a pouch where he kept fake ID's and documents in case you needed them. He settled beside Connor, who had draped an arm across your shoulders, and took off his sweater.
The man glanced up at him as he passed by, relentless with his questions. "Is that your boyfriend?"
"No, this is." You moved aside to show Connor. You didn't dare break eye contact with the man, you wanted to show that you weren't afraid.
The man's frown grew deeper. "Well!" He chuckled. "Lucky guy."
Connor cleared his throat beside you. You squeezed his knee, and as curious as you were to see how he looked (because he was hot when he was pissed) you flashed the creep your fakest smile, words laced with poison.
"Your mom never told you not to talk to strangers? It's dangerous, you know." He started to force a laugh, but you cut him off, continuing. "Stop talking, because I don't have any time to waste on you, dickhead."
There was a beat of silence as he processed your words. You cracked a smile and turned back to face the opposite side of the road, satisfied with yourself. But then you heard the rustle of that stupid puffer vest.
"Hey, now, sweetheart, don't be hard. You know, if you're here on vacation, I can tell you a few good places to visit, let me tell youâ"
You had just settled your eyes back on your multiple bangles and bracelets when you heard a loud smack from where the man was sitting. Connor stood between you and him and your lips parted in surprise with how quick he was. His hand was raised and the man was clutching his own, face red and showing an expression of pain. You couldn't see Connor's face, since he had his back turned to you, but you could feel how tense the hand that was on your shoulder was.
The bus finally pulled over in front of you. Travis nudged you and Connor took your hand with a stiff one. "C'mon, Y/N, let's go," he said. You eagerly stood up, keeping his hand in yours, but he didn't move. Instead, he waited for the creep to board and when he did so, he looked over his shoulder to steal one last glance at you.
You raised up your middle finger at him, but to your surprise, Connor even gave him a shove further down the aisle as the two of you followed.
Connor and Travis made sure he was seated far, far back in the bus before settling into seats with you. Connor gave you the window seat and the three of you got comfortable, though Connor was still muttering curses under his breath. You sent Travis a thumbs up gesture when he looked at the two of you.
Connor didn't relax even after the bus set off, but he did kick his bag under the seat and take your hand back in his. He planted a kiss on your temple, then your hand. "You alright?"
You nodded. "Nothing I can't handle," You assured him. "Horrible morning, but it's fine."
"Bastard was about to touch you," He muttered, lips moving against the back of your hand. "No one touches my girl if she doesn't like it."
"Mhm." You gave his hand a squeeze back, just as you always do to let him know it's okay.

đž YAYAYAY
i saw a few compliments on my last ask, it sounds stupid but it made me super duper happy for a few hours đ
anyway, you've been spoiling us lately (which im extremely grateful for) but ive been thinking of sub! chan with dom! members for so long now and i dont know if any other writer would do it like you would đđ
-silly đž anon
hehe it was a good ask!! also i thought you were about to say dom reader but ohhh my gosh more mxm >:3
as much as i love the idea of dom chan, i LOOOVE the idea of subby channie with some of the boys >.<
i always see han and felix as being the biggest bottoms,,, so its hard for me to picture them as doms LOL but the sub on sub action would go fucking craaaazy...
like just imagine either felix or han (or even both on him at the same time oof...) grinding on chan while they makeout all messily akdjakdklas but neither of them can take initiative when their minds are foggy and they cant think straight >.< so they have another member come in and join, telling them what to do and maybe fucking them silly as a reward hehe
hyunjin and changbin would be suuuuuch softdoms... if, for whatever reason, chan wants one of them to fuck his brains out, they're going to do so with every drop of love he has in his body >.<
im talking like setting the mood, going reaaaal slow but rolling his hips so fucking professionally that channie's basically crying from needing more but also it being too much at the same time ughhh
minho & seungmin are the ones to be mean while also not being mean?? theyre such little shits and will insult and degrade channie until his face is flushed and his ears are red... (& his cock is twitching <3) but they treat him sooo sweet when they finally fuck him how he likes it <3
they always need him close; if theyre in doggy then they're leaning all the way forward and pushing their chest against his back, leaving little pecks here and there as they grind into him. or if they're in missionary, they'll tease him by pushing his hands away when he tries to touch them, only for them to fold literal seconds later and push their chests together so they can kiss his whines away <3
jeongin.... im sorry but mean dom... you're gonna have to tear this from my cold, dead hands; he's the only one who will be mean and stick with it the whole time (though sometimes he does fold- he'll never admit it though)
if channie wants it mean and rough he's gonna seek out jeongin and, with a red face, he's gonna ask oh so nicely for jeongin to fuck his brains out <3 and the maknae will do so with the cockiest smile on his face as he rearranges chan's guts!!!
that being said jeongin does get soft- sometimes. not very often, but on the occasion he'll push their foreheads together and will hold the most intense eye contact as he pounds channie into the mattress- albeit still roughly

idk if it was on this blog or your film blog but i think i remember you posting about loop track (2023) and im watching it right now!! what do you like about it?? this is a fully genuine question and im sorry if i seem weird, im enjoying it too but im interested in your thoughts
It was me, and I mentioned it on both blogs! I'm gonna answer under a break because I really feel like people who appreciate oddball genre fare will do best to go into this blind, like I did. So anyway:
I didn't know anything about LOOP TRACK and I'm not usually turned on by movies about people who are lost and stalked in the woods (unless they're excellent of course, a good movie is a good movie). To me these things are like any other one-set premise where the aesthetics are really limited and the emotional expression is also pretty basic: entrapment, hysteria, etc. But in this case I was immediately magnetized to the performance of writer-director-star Thomas Sainsbury. I found his performance of anxiety really convincing and fascinating; without having the script tell me too much about what this guy is going through and why, I found myself studying his face and his movements intensely for information. Furthermore, as someone who will hide from people I know and like if I see them in public and I'm not prepared to interact, I find this type of pathologically fearful character extremely sympathetic. The way the film is shot compliments his performance with an atmosphere of extreme, suffocating dread, and when Sainsbury starts to perceive the presence in the woods, LOOP TRACK doubles its power. I love the way we are enticed to scan the woods with him for the dark shape, how it's never comfortingly clear whether you are really seeing the presence along with him, or whether your eyes are just organizing random visual elements into a kind of hallucination. (Incidentally I think a similar thing is achieved by IN A VIOLENT NATURE)
As you may or may not have discovered, some viewers who enjoyed the first 80% of the movie simply could not hang with the big reveal. I was not one of them! Yes, I was DEEPLY SHOCKED by the appearance of the big black bird. Yes, I found it starkly campy and even somewhat hilarious. But at the same time, a) I loved the design of it, very handsome and unexpected monster, and b) I admired the guts it took to make a movie like this, immersing the audience in an experience of grim terror only to whip out these kooky creature feature shenanigans at the end. Actually I must say that I thought the final showdown would have gone better if the monster build just weighed more; as it is, you get a pretty strong impression of a mostly-empty fursuit that doesn't feel as meaty and violent as it should just because of the obvious weight issue. But still, I didn't care; I was amazed by Sainsbury's wacky gambit, and by the fact that he took it so seriously! You really do not see movies like this every day, if ever. I couldn't take my eyes off it.
Anyway. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the flick, and even if you didn't, thanks for asking! I appreciate it.

Phil doesn't really know why he came back to Pogtopia. Maybe with Wilbur being back, he wanted to really educate himself on what his son had been up to all these years. Finally find out where he'd been.
Finally figure out where it all went wrong.
Regardless, there was something that drew him back to the cramped, musty ravine, and it certainly wasn't the atmosphere. Despite all the jokes Techno might make about his age, pawing through dusty old artifacts of a bygone age wasn't exactly Phil's idea of fun.
Especially not when the air still reeked of suffering.
His son's suffering.
But Phil had to know. He needed to know what his fatal flaw was, what he missed, what was hidden from him. What led up to that horrid moment in front of a wooden button. Wilbur might not have wanted him to know, but it was his job, his responsibility as a father to be there for him.
Especially since he failed the first time around.
Currently, he was sifting through crumpled scraps of paper in a cramped back room of the cavern, not quite sure what he was looking for. The pieces of history ranged from legal documents, to angry pencil sketches, to even a few half-baked music notes, a song forever left unfinished. It was only when Phil was about to give up his search, go find something better to do with his time, that he found it.
A balled-up piece of parchment with his own name on it.
With shaking hands, Phil delicately unfolded the page, heart thumping in his chest. The ink was faded, the paper worn, and watermarked blots dotted the writing, as if it had been caught in the rain. No, the droplets were too dispersed for that. It's more like...
... like someone was crying.
hey philza. im sorry i got so distant. im sorry i pushed you away. ive never been good at telling people what i want. i hope youre okay. i miss you. - wilbur
Heart in his throat, Phil took a shaky breath. Wilbur's handwriting was unmistakable; this was a letter from his son. A letter addressed to him. A letter never sent, a letter more honest than Phil could even remember his son ever being.
How had they fallen so far? How had Phil let things get this bad? Why hadn't Wilbur reached out to him? Would he have even come if he did? What did he do wrong? What ifs and how comes raced through the immortal's head, the thoughts his only company as he clutched the paper to his chest, kneeling in an empty cave, holding the last remnants of his son, his boy.
How familiar.
How very heartbreaking.
(i'm no good at art but i CAN write here's my horrible contribution to this idea <3 -flappies anon)
ALL OF THIS. THIS INCREDIBLE PIECE OF WRITING. JUST FOR A HEY WILBUR JOKE
#THIS IS LIKE. GENUINELY GOOD THOUGH *(@&(*^)*&$^(&^%*#WELL GREAT NOW IT'S GONNA LIVE IN MY HEAD RENT-FREE#asks#anons#flappies anon#hey wilbur#anyways hi im not good at complimenting writers but i love the way you set the scene#it's just. very descriptive. i wish i had more words to explain myself but *i'm* not very descriptive fjkdhsg

rating every demon fight in kny bc i can
non-biased, completely objective rating (more or less) of every significant demon fight in kny based on a number of factors, including:
cleverness of fighting tactics
placement in the storyâs timeline
integration of character backstories
cohesive themes between characters
etc
by non-biased and objective i mean iâm not skewing the rating if a death felt fair or whatever
everything past where the anime ended will be under a read more so anime onlys who havent watched mugen train, youre safe lol
oh and i reread the manga like 20+ times (reread the latter arcs at least 40 times, haha hyperfixations am i right?) so be rest assured im not pulling these ratings out of my ass
also ill randomly be bolding certain phrases just to improve readability
anyways letâs gooooo
VS NEZUKO
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kamado Tanjirou and Nezuko. Tanjirou is fending her off by putting the axe handle in her mouth, keeping her from eating him. End Image Description.]
10/10
i like how realistic it is, because yeah tanjirou would react the way to he did with zero fighting skills against a demon
very clear why tanjirou is fighting nezuko and shows a bit of worldbuilding on how normal people react to their family becoming demons
always nice to see worldbuilding
giyuu is the perfect example of a seasoned demon slayer whoâs good at his job, and he juxtaposes tanjirou very well in that aspect
my only complaint is not directly in this fight itself but how nezuko is handled throughout the story as a whole
like bro, it is literally never explained why nezuko is different from demons
could have been easily explained if maybe her familyâs ghosts like slapped her hand every time she wanted to eat a person but nope
sheâs just built different lol
so yeah youll see future ratings get points docked off bc nezuko unlocks some secret power with no prior explanation other than she angy >:3
VS TEMPLE DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of a demon. The demon has a sharp-nailed hand over his neck and there are four text bubbles around him saying âBut a wound like this... will heal in no time! See? The bleeding already stopped!â End Image Description.]
10/10
may be more forgettable compared to like rui but still good
tanjirou did exceptionally well in this fight and his ability to think on his feet is once again beautifully illustrated here (trapping this dudeâs head against the tree trunk with the axe)
very clever
again, establishes more demon worldbuilding regarding regeneration and still being able to move without their head
and the demons burning in the sunlight thing since nezuko wasnât able to show that
the ending where tanjirou hesitates to kill the demon also serves to show his sympathetic nature towards demons that will last throughout the entirety of the first 60-ish chapters
:)
weâll talk about what the hell happens to tanjirou after that
or not, it could honestly be its own post
VS HAND DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of a many-handed demon. He has six hands around him, three of them covering his mouth while he chuckles, two of them grabbing his cheeks, and one holding on to the top of his head. There are two text bubbles saying âThatâs how many of Urokodakiâs students I have eaten! Iâve decided to kill all of his students!â End Image Description.]
10/10
ooooh probably the first big fight against a demon in the series
oh yeah not doing the two random demons tanjirou one shot in a single blow bc eh
anyways hand demonâs pretty goddamn scary, considering the fact that this is the 5th demon or whatever tanjirou has had to face so far
very nice way to show us how much tanjirouâs innate intuition and all his other random abilities (sense of smell, hard forehead) can come together and help him decapitate this guy
i liked the mini history with urokodaki this dude had and why he had beef with our favorite mentor figure, it establishes that urokodaki was in fact a super good demon slayer and its cool to see that actually shown
i also liked that small moment of compassion tanjirou gave this demon, staying consistent with tanjirouâs established kindness
the demonâs sad tale with killing his own brother very much humanizes him when all the reader has seen up to this point is that this guy is a monster who eats people
sets up the theme of demons just being humans but being victims of circumstance that unfortunately doesnât hold up as well in arcs past mugen train
VS SWAMP DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kamado Tanjirou fighting off three horned demons as they appear from below. There is a spiky text bubble saying âThree of them!!!â End Image Description.]
10/10
not my most favorite fight but it still portrays everything alright and im not allowed to let my personal opinions mess with the rating so
i like how tanjirou mentioned the fact that he trained in conditions similar to the bog and explains how he pulled off the whirlpool form
using past experiences to aid him in the present, nice nice
tanjirou and nezuko dont quite work together very well but its yknow the first mission so ill chalk it up to simple inexperience
also the way the muzan curse thingie was hinted at here? fantastic way of showing that little bit of demon worldbuilding
...
oh god, it mentions nezuko being stronger than normal demons
ok its not a problem here per say since i can still suspend my disbelief, but later on it just becomes a glaring problem that gets worse over time
VS SUSAMARU AND YAHABA
[Image Description: Manga panels of Susamaru and Yahaba. The first one is a joyful Susamaru about to throw a temari ball. There is floating text saying âIs she one of Kibutsujiâs minions?!â The second image is an annoyed Yahaba, holding one of his eye-hands to cover himself. There are two text bubbles around him saying âMy kimono got all dusty. Tch!â End Image Description.]
9/10
why dont these bitches have a good looking panel together dammit
anyways amazing entrance, the way yahaba used his hand eyes to track down tanjirou is really neat
the synergy yahaba and susamaru have is incredible, its awesome dude, they work extremely well together and it shows
tanjirou actually mixing his water breathing forms together is a god tier move and i absolutely love how he can show off his ability to think on his feet once again
establishing how yushiroâs bda works early on is really well done
establishing tamayo as a fugitive this early on is also super well done
not to get into spoiler territory but both these things pay off
how tamayo ended up defeating susamaru is literally awesome in so many ways
shows off both how smart she is by exploiting the muzan curse
and speaking of the muzan curse, we actually get to see what happens to demons who even say his name, back when it was hinted with the swamp demon
tamayo is amazing dude, and we get some real evidence of the horrible suffering demons go through if they even accidentally attempt to betray muzan :D
...
now heres what keeps this fight from being perfect
nezuko somehow grew stronger against susamaruâs temari
with no explanation
which could have been easily explained if tamayo was like âoh yeah the drug also boosts a demonâs strength temporarilyâ
but nope
god, i just dont like how gotouge handles nezukoâs power boosts throughout the series bc like i said before
no explanation is given anywhere
this is a huge issue, this isnt a pokemon game, you cant just kill demons and get exp at the end of every battle, level up, get some sweet stat bonuses and move on
(actually if gotouge established that this is how nezuko grew in power, than all my complaints about this would be gone, im not even joking)
anyways i get that nezuko is supposed to be âspecialâ but thats too vague of a descriptor
how the hell is she special? ya gotta be more specific and stick with that explanation or that suspension of disbelief is going to disappear
VS TONGUE DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of a four-eyed demon with horns and a long tongue. He is crawling in an awkward position, one foot in front of his tilted head. There are two text bubbles around him saying âHeh, heh! Iâll slurpy slurp your brains out through you ear!â End Image Description.]
10/10
not much to say, showcases zenitsuâs true abilities really well
nicely done
VS HORNED DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of a big, single-horned demon. There are three text bubbles saying âYou dodged! Youâre awfully lively for a human! Itâll be a treat to carve away your flesh!â End Image Description.]
10/10
would have ignored this fight if not for the fact we havent seen inosuke fight before
it definitely shows how very fast-paced and wild inosuke is
no complaints here lol
VS KYOGAI
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kyogai, a demon with tsuzumi drums attached to his shoulders. There are four text bubbles around him saying âWhy?! Why does everyone keep sneaking through my house? Itâs so aggravating. Itâs my prey! Itâs my prey! Found in my territory!â End Image Description.]
10/10
establishes marechi blood pretty early on, once again expanding the worldbuilding of kny which is always cool
interesting terrain where itâs always shifting, tanjirou once again proves his ability to adapt really quickly by altering one of his forms to work with the turning room
(man, i wish the form mixing/form modification thing carried on throughout the rest of the story, but it really didnt which is just a shame)
the injuries tanjirou had prior to this mission actually affecting him was a nice touch
oh yeah, kyogai gives us more worldbuilding (which is always nice) regarding the 12 kizuki, and the aspect of him being cast out due to being weak shows a lot about muzanâs indifference towards his own demons if they arent strong
his backstory being a failed writer once again humanizes kyogai as a former human being and not just a monster
tanjirou shows his sympathy and compassion again by not stepping on his written work and complimenting his bda
well, tbh tanjirouâs actions kinda came out of nowhere but its a very minor thing and not enough to dock a point off, like it didnt affect the outcome of the fight that much if at all
(so if you see future battles where points are docked off for things not logically making sense, its bc whatever nonsensical concepts were integrated into the fight actually turned the tide of the battle and thats a big no-no)
very good fight and if you remember how kinda bad tanjirou was at accurately slicing the swamp demon, you can see that heâs already improved leaps and bounds
im so proud of him
VS MOTHER SPIDER DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kamado Tanjirou and the Mother Spider Demon. There is a light shining down from the top right on to the demon as Tanjirou slices her head off, rain following in his wake. There is floating text saying âWater Breathing: Fifth Form - Blessed Rain After the Drought!â around them. End Image Description.]
10/10
i mean does anyone disagree?
all the demon slayers getting their necks snapped by her threads was pretty horrific, probably more horrifying than anything else we have seen in the entire series if im gonna be honest
the death scene is probably the most beautiful one in the series
it reveals a water breathing form that we havent seen before thats the 5th form
as far as i know, no other breathing style has this merciful sword stroke so it shows a lot about the original water breather and what they might have been like
but enough about them, really the focus is on tanjirou bc this is like the best example by far of how kind and sympathetic he is to demons
dunno what else to say, its perfect
VS SON SPIDER DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of Agatsuma Zenitsu performing Thunder Breathing 1st Form: Sixfold on a spider-like demon. Zenitsu is crashing through the roof of a shed, and a zig-zag path is left behind. There are sound effects all over the panel, saying âBam!â in large font. End Image Description.]
10/10
chose a picture without a huge spider on it bc i would like to not scare myself half to death
anyways extremely amazing fight, showcases zenitsuâs immense talent and skill, adapting the 1st form of thunder breathing to be a more versatile move
theres a moment where his backstory with kuwajima and kaigaku were revealed and his hidden insecurities are out in the open which is super nice and further develops a character weve only considered as comedic relief until now
the anime made the backstory scenes and the killing scene so much cooler
while there is no thematic connection between zenitsu and the demon, it really isnt necessary to keep this fight interesting
anyways another pretty much perfect fight
VS FATHER SPIDER DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kamado Tanjirou and Inosuke slashing at the Father Spider Demon. The demon has blocked Tanjirouâs sword with his arm, and Inosuke is slamming both his blades down on the demonâs other hand. End Image Description.]
10/10
again, not my most favorite fight but it does everything right
i do have to say it was excellent how gotouge hyped up the father spider demon to be the big bad, only just so the plot twist later takes the readers by surprise
nicely done
VS DAUGHTER SPIDER DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kochou Shinobu and the Daughter Spider Demon. Shinobuâs back is seen and her haori looks like a butterflyâs wings keeping her afloat as she holds her stinger blade out to the side. The demon looks surprised as blood gushes from her side, arm, shoulder, chest, neck, and forehead. There is floating text on the panel, saying âInsect Breathing - Butterfly Dance - Caprice!â End Image Description.]
10/10
first time weve seen shinobu and her fighting style
what i love most about this is how much it shows her true character, appearing as a carefree and naive individual so she seems underwhelming
then bam, reveals exactly how dangerous and uncaring she is of demons, listing out the specific ways she would torture the daughter spider demon in grotesque detail
her using poison to take demons by surprise is also super clever and brings back the worldbuilding established way earlier about wisteria being poisonous to demons
amazing integration of that concept
anyways this fight really encapsulates who shinobu is as a character and thats why it gets a perfect score
VS RUI
[Image Description: Manga panel of Rui holding his hand out directly towards the viewer. There are two text bubbles around him, saying âGive me your sister. If you hand her over quietly, Iâll spare your life.â End Image Description.]
8/10
not only is it a super scary fight but there is a deeper conflict between rui and tanjirou, what it means to be family
they are opposites in the sense that while tanjirou believes love is what makes a family, ruiâs subconscious desperation for an unbreakable bond drives him to use fear to keep his âfamilyâ together
excellent juxtaposition of their values, and this is only further emphasized when rui expresses out loud what he was going to do to nezuko
i also like the symbolism regarding ruiâs bda, how he uses threads or the âfamilialâ bonds to cut up his fake family with it if they act out of turn or annoy him
super neat detail
alright what i dont like about this fight is nezuko (again)
mostly her unlocking her bda to turn the tide of the battle bc her mom was like âyo, wake up, your brother is going to be killedâ
feels... forced ig
her bda in general is confusing and not consistent
man, i wish i could make a stronger argument for this but i do believe the problem stems from the fact that we dont ever know what nezuko is thinking, and what she thinks of tanjirou specifically
if she even cares for him as a sibling or if shes only going along with what her family is saying to her, things like that which would have been fixed if gotouge actually gave her thoughts some screen time
so the action feels pretty shallow
im also conflicted over tanjirou somehow remembering how dance of the fire god works
on one hand, hes using past information and applying it in the current setting so he doesnt die, which is understandable
but on the other hand, this was a teeny bit random?
i think what could have fixed this is if there was a scene in the beginning of the series where tanjirou was performing it himself, like practicing before he actually had to do it for new years
so that when the rui fight rolls around, it would have felt less like throwing dry spaghetti at a wall
but yeah
overall super good fight, giyuu ending up having to kill rui instead of tanjirou was super good in that tanjirou didnt become a pillar this early in the series and to show how strong giyuu is
there are some odd bits regarding the ultimate âbeheadingâ of rui using nezuko and tanjirous supposed bonds but it doesnt kill the fight entirely so it deserves its pretty high score
***under read more is manga-only fights so beware***
VS ENMU
[Image Description: Manga panel of Enmu holding his hand out directly at the viewer, with a mouth on the back of it. There is floating text to the top right of Enmu that says âWhispers of Forced Unconscious Hypnosis!â End Image Description.]
9/10
id say this fight is definitely overshadowed by the dream stuff prior to this but its pretty good in its own right
enmu fusing with the train was kinda confusing, like when was it established that demons could fuse with objects?
this worldbuilding element doesnt even appear again so yeah thats why it loses a point
how the kmbk gang end up defeating enmu is pretty sweet though, tanjirou using dance of the fire god to sever the neck bone was really nice and shows that him using the breathing style in the rui fight wasnt a one time thing
while kyojuroâs role was smaller in this part, the next part makes up for it so i cant complain
anyways ye, almost perfect score but its pretty good
VS AKAZA (MUGEN TRAIN)
[Image Description: Manga panel of Akaza holding his hand out to the viewerâs left. There is a text bubble saying âWhy donât you become a demon?â End Image Description.]
10/10
this encounter is literally amazing okay?
after the crew kills the big bad, it seems like everything is fine
but plot twist, upper moon 3 appears out of nowhere
this is the first time the reader has seen an upper moon, let alone the 3rd/4th strongest demon in existence and the way gotouge handled this twist is fucking amazing
kyojuroâs death scene really shows just how human even the strongest pillars are against demons with incredible power
its just
amazing
VS OBI DEMON
[Image Description: Manga panels of the obi-like demon. The first image shows the obi hung in the air and strung over each other like decorations, with women-shaped patterns in its folds. The second image is Hashibira Inosuke fighting the Obi demon which now has lips and eyes. There is floating text in that panel saying âBreath of the Beast: Sixth Fang - Jagged Gnaw!!â End Image Description.]
10/10
on to red light district
this fight is admittedly super forgettable and not very interesting at least compared to the main fight with daki and gyutaro
but it wraps up the sub plot of the women and uzuiâs wives going missing so it gets a perfect score for not messing that up
oh and it establishes the stretchy neck thing daki has going on which is very good
VS DAKI AND GYUTARO
[Image Description: Manga panel of Daki and Gyutaro. Daki is sitting on Gyutaroâs shoulders. There is a text bubble on the top right that says âThe two of us are one, after all.â as well as floating text that reads âThe power of the irregular siblings...!? Next issue lead color and the fight reaches its climax!!â End Image Description.]
8/10
love how this battle challenges tanjirouâs sympathy and kindness towards demons, just simply bc daki and gyutaro are horrible people
(too bad nothing came of this, which ill explain in the hantengu portion)
daki and gyutaro are very good villains and kept this fight super interesting from start to finish
uzui acting as a foil to gyutaro is nicely integrated and properly shown with how jealous gyutaro gets over seeing uzuiâs perfect form and stature
tanjirou not only mixes forms but mixes breathing styles as well, which is so fucking awesome
(too bad it was only used like once throughout the entire series, its quite unfortunate)
the super high tension right after inosuke gets stabbed and tanjirou wakes up was expertly portrayed and handled, it felt like the kmbk gang and uzui were actually going to lose
super awesome
the tanjirou and gyutaro parallels are expertly portrayed, with how gyutaro taunts tanjirou over failing to protect his little sister, and the more visual thing where tanjirou imagined his own neck underneath his blade, that was super duper nice
the ending is extremely tense and emotionally gripping, gotouge did a really good job with that artistically too
the demon mark acquisition scene was surprisingly not frustrating, considering that it wasnt really explained prior to the battle
i do think it has to do with how it was explained later just exactly how they worked so its not just some random thing gotouge pulled out of their ass
so pretty good
/
what i dont like is nezuko and her full power demon form
first of all where the fuck did that come from? she just got angry and suddenly shes as powerful as an upper moon
like
how?
that doesnt make sense???
her extremely quick regeneration makes no sense
her ability to manipulate her bloodâs properties makes no sense
and it doesnt even appear again so what was the point of that existing
none of this is even explained later which annoys me
that one part where tanjirou sings a lullaby to her to calm her down was alright ig but nezuko in this fight makes me extremely irritated and frustrated
just ugh
VS HANTENGU
[Image Description: Manga panel of Hantengu opening a shoji door. He is crawling inside, his hand in a gnarled, unnatural position. There is a text bubble saying âEeeeeeek.â End Image Description.]
1/10
swordsmith village
this fight can go fuck itself /j
no but seriously it has so many problems that it would be shorter to name its redeeming qualities (which ill do later)
first off, the nezuko full power form thing again
i hate it so much with a passion
again, where did her ability to regenerate instantly even come from???? this is never explained, ever
and why did she cut herself on tanjirouâs sword anyway
did she somehow know that it was going to turn red if she burned it?
gotouge what the fuck, there is literally no reason why nezuko would do that and we cant even read her mind to see her thought process
gotouge hates nezuko, i swear
/
remember when i said uzui is meant to be a foil to gyutaro in the rld fight? its pretty obvious that those two are opposites, it was nicely done
... what the hell does mitsuriâs insecurities about strength have to do with whatever the fuck hantengu has going on (which is basically nothing)?
so no meaningful connection between mitsuri and hantengu
theres no meaningful connection between tanjirou and hantengu other than tanjirou getting pissed off for like the second time
also tanjirouâs thing with being kind and sympathetic to demons was entirely dropped at this point
but instead of it leading up to a corruption arc of some sorts, it just doesnt
like honestly if something actually came of that anger he exhibited in this arc and from red light district from this point forward story-wise, i would have counted this as an amazing writing decision
but it literally doesnt so who cares
(god, i really start to hate what happened to his character after this )
and genyaâs revealed motivation also doesnt fit at all with hantenguâs thing, heâs not a foil, not a parallel, nothing, there is nothing
/
tanjirou being the catharsis for development for mitsuri and muichirou, who he has only talked to like twice
theres definitely a better way to handle those twoâs developments without his help
like gotouge, you have a big cast of characters, use them lol
/
i want to kick hantengu in the face for being boring as fuck (at least his clones have cool looking weapons)
doesnt even have a proper backstory, just a single spread of him being blamed for shit as a human
like... thats it? this is upper moon 4 what the hell
/
theres no clever form mixing here at all (regarding tanjirou) which probably would have helped with foreshadowing the 13th form for dance of the fire god/sun breathing better
also gotouge established that as tanjirouâs thing and now he doesnt do that stuff anymore which sucks
/
oh hey remember when tanjirou actually learned how to do zenitsuâs speed boost thing?
if you didnt, i dont blame you bc it literally doesnt appear again, ever
you could argue that he adapted it into his âwaltz flashâ technique or whatever the fuck that is but the way it was integrated into this fight was like throwing dry spaghetti at a wall
which is just a shame bc its meant to be representative of how tanjirou and zenitsu are good pals but the way it was utilized is forgettable as hell
/
i absolutely loathe the crimson blade concept as a whole and im mentioning this now bc its going to come into play why future instances where this goddamn thing comes up again causes points to be lost
its inconsistent as fuck ill tell you that
/
at least some yoriichi stuff appeared here and not shoved into the final battle with everything else
so the yoriichi stuff later didnt come out of absolute nowhere
genya and mitsuriâs unique fighting styles expand the kny worldbuilding just a little more which is always nice
tanjirou got a cool sword out of this which would have been cooler if him and yoriichi had a deeper connection that was actually explored
but we didnt get shit so whatever
other people getting demon marks being revealed here is also okay so that again, the final battle isnt filled with absolutely everyone getting their marks at once
demon marks have their own slew of problems but its not as bad as the fucking crimson sword shit
god i hate the crimson sword shit
...
dude this section needs a tldr, even i cant sit and read through my shit
TL;DR - this fight sucks and crimson swords are bullshit (more on this later)
VS GYOKKO
[Image Description: Manga panel of Tokitou Muichirou and Gyokko. Muichirou is looking to the left while Gyokko is looking to the right, both with their backs to each other. There are mist clouds billowing in the foreground and background, as well as a slash mark going across Gyokkoâs neck. End Image Description.]
7/10
this fight suffers from the same lack of cohesive themes through characters like the hantengu battle bc the antagonist is given nothing
but its better
we havent actually seen mui fight before so theres no consistencies that the reader has to keep track of for now
and there arent like 10 characters in the fight so this fight gets a lot of points just for being a lot more coherent
i do like that this fight shows just how good mui is that he can defeat an upper moon by himself
muiâs backstory is neat
gyokkoâs bda is very interesting too
... thats pretty much it lol
ye, anyways not the best fight but not the worst fight either
VS KAIGAKU
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kaigaku holding the hilt of his blade with one hand. There is two text bubbles around him, saying â...As usual, youâre still shabby. Itâs been a while, Zenitsu.â End Image Description.]
9/10
alright on to final battle arc
theres some good fights and then some really sucky ones, but this one was pretty incredible and very emotionally charged
theres a clear reason why zenitsu and kaigaku are battling each other (kai betrayed the corps and inadvertantly caused the only parental figure in zenitsuâs life to die, and zenitsu is rightfully pissed off about that)
the visual yin-yang symbolism is awesome too
zenitsu winning due to using the 7th form he created himself (which i have reason to believe was inspired by tanjirou) was the perfect ending to the fight, really couldnt ask for anything better and is a perfect example of how much of an effect tanjirou has had on zenitsu
the 7th form is what tanjirouâs waltz flash should have been lol
/
what keeps this fight from being absolutely perfect is lack of development prior to this conflict
(since the final battle arc is basically a culmination of all the hinted developments through the series, im going to actually factor in how much and how well these conflicts were foreshadowed)
anyways if we had actually seen zenitsu, kaigaku, and kuwajima actually interacting with each other and showing how they were essentially a family (not just through flashbacks), it would have made zenitsu placing the responsibility of killing kai onto himself a lot more tragic
but like, apart from brief flashbacks where zenitsu actually met kaigaku off screen and that one thing all the way back in natagumo where both kuwajima and kai were introduced, thats pretty much it in terms of thunder family development
so yeah its underdeveloped for sure
also one random thought, i personally think zenitsu should have gotten his demon mark in this fight, it would have been cool to see
VS AKAZA (INFINITY FORTRESS)
[Image Description: Manga panel of Akazaâs face. There are two text bubbles around him, saying âOkay, letâs get started. Itâs time for the feast.â There is also floating text saying âThe inspection of the strong has begun...â as well as a simple box on the lower left, denoting its the end of chapter 147. End Image Description.]
6/10
oh god please dont hate me for this
ill list the good things first how about that
this conflict was foreshadowed perfectly in mugen train, you bet the readers were expecting a tanjirou vs akaza battle after the death of kyojuro and gotouge delivered
akazaâs power is shown extremely well with how many close calls tanjirou and giyuu had while fighting him
akaza eventually giving up on his own volition was really nice and fit into the context of the battle very very well, like sure tanjirou and giyuu wouldnt understand why he gave up but us readers do know
akaza is a really good character and a good villain
/
now notice how im only mentioning akaza and not giyuu or tanjirou in the good aspects
bc those two are eh
no form mixing at all from either tanjirou and giyuu
i know i said form mixing was kind of tanjirouâs thing but youâd think giyuu would have gotten more creative with his moves once akaza said that he was getting predictable
(well he said he âran out of water breathing formsâ but same thing)
so its kinda bland lol
speaking of giyuu, his whole thing with his insecurities of being weak wasnt handled well (it was sort of immediately brushed off in pillar training, and its unclear what part of his character arc he was in)
like sure him announcing that heâs going to protect tanjirou is cool but it feels like he was haphazardly dropped into the tanjirou and akaza conflict
isnt he supposed to be both their foils? that wasnt really explored that well in this fight and theres no deep meaning behind him even being here just analyzing what he did in it
he could have been handled better or even given more focus is what im saying
the anatta state came out of nowhere, im sorry okay? just bc inosuke like barely hinted at not being able to sense grandma hisa bc she had no fighting spirit and tanjurou magically taught his son how to achieve this state doesnt mean it was properly integrated into the fight
if the anatta state was actually explored prior to this battle, i would have given it a pass but it just feels like a cheap and poorly developed trick to get around akazaâs technique development (which is overpowered as fuck might i add)
gotouge should have just given akaza a plausible weakness to his technique development instead, especially since they dont use or even mention the anatta state after this
the transparent world shit makes no sense but ill elaborate on that in the koku battle analysis
oh and this thing doesnt affect the score but why wasnt there a âyoriichi visage overlappingâ moment when tanjirou was fighting akaza? hes an upper moon, he should have gotten those visions but he didnt
for some reason
anyways this battle was alright and has good set up but the middle and end parts didnt hold up as well bc random concepts were thrown at us without prior explanation or development
VS DOUMA
[Image Description: Manga panel of Douma licking Shinobuâs butterfly pin. There are two text bubbles around him saying âAnyway, tonight is a good night. Such fine feasts keep showing up one after another.â End Image Description.]
9/10
damn, such an amazing fight
the build up to this was properly foreshadowed
shinobu finally showing her true anger after hiding it for so long is amazing
douma is a super interesting character and fantastic villain
shinobu showing off her true power and determination against douma was sooooo nice
shinobuâs poisonous body plan is so clever and so interesting
if i was to rate the shinobu part of the fight alone, it would have gotten a 10/10 no question
the reason why its knocked down a point is because of the kanao and inosuke part
dont get me wrong, the way kanao is able to hold her own against douma by herself is pretty cool, how shes meant to parallel douma with their similar struggles surrounding human emotions and demonstrate how she has grown as a person, how she regains the ability to cry
that shit is cool, inosuke also getting in touch with his emotions after learning what happened to his mom was super neat as well
however
bc this battle takes place in the final arc with everything else, there wasnt proper build up regarding many things, the kotoha reveal especially
so inosuke feels kinda forced into the kanao shinobu and douma conflict, similar to how giyuu felt forced into the tanjirou and akaza conflict
its quite unfortunate bc if the kotoha stuff was actually explored prior to the confrontation, this âforcedâ feeling would have disappeared
i know some people have suggested that the douma fight should have just been its own arc, and i very much agree, it would have certainly helped fix this problem regarding inosuke and kotoha
last random thought, i wish shinobu, kanao, and inosuke got their demon marks
VS KOKUSHIBOU
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kokushibou looking directly at the viewer, holding the hilt of his blade as if heâs going to pull it out. There are text boxes around him saying âThis... is Upper Moon One... Heâs so different compared to the other Upper Moons. He looks so dignified and majestic.â The text boxes are narrated by Tokitou Muichirou. End Image Description.]
5/10
this fight is... mediocre
at least theres a more tangible connection between muichirou and kokushibou
even though that was handled kinda poorly
tbh there really was no point to revealing that mui is kokuâs descendant like at all, it just had no significant bearing to the plot of the fight
sanemiâs backstory being here is... okay ig?
idk the whole shinazugawa conflict has fundamental problems that i just cant think of any other place to put it without changing the entirety of canon
the marechi blood concept coming back was nice though
genya is there
him getting his bda was cool and helped turn the tide of the battle in a satisfying way (before kicking the bucket but thats not the focus here)
gyomei is a hollow husk of a character who barely got anything at all
but his fighting style is extremely cool and conveys his immense power very well
oh and him and sanemi are amazing at working together, like better than giyuu and tanjirou, and better than kanao and inosuke
theyre that good yet pretty much nobody acknowledges it which is sad
koku himself is pretty interesting and pretty tragic, very nice villain
but everyone together?
gonna be honest but this is such a random collection of characters, there was basically no foreshadowing that these four were going to go up again kokushibou, they are not that connected very well
i know there was this one post that focused on the theme of family that was common in all 5 characters in the fight but its just not enough
it would have been more cohesive if gotouge emphasized gyomei, mui, sanemi, and genya being like different aspects of yoriichi coming together to kill kokushibou hundreds of years after yoriichi failed to kill him
lmao its not like the 4 of them defeated koku with the power of family or friendship, they just smacked him over and over with a flail, shot him with magical bullets, and stabbed a crimson sword into his abdomen
wouldnt have been too hard to switch over to kokuâs pov and go âdamn these bitches are like my stupid brotherâ
...
speaking of crimson swords
i fucking hate the crimson sword concept oh my god can i complain about it now? im gonna complain about it now
unlike demon marks, the crimson blades werent even given any proper conditions, you just hold the stupid thing hard enough and it somehow imbues it with magical properties with no logic behind those properties
what part of crimson swords completely destroys a demonâs body in an instant? even muzan didnt go through that process when he was almost killed by yoriichi so where in the goddamn fuck did it come from
it could be explained bc the sword was left in the same spot for a long time but this tactic doesnt even appear again in a meaningful way (didnt kill muzan when tanjirou and giyuu held the sword together) so what the fuck was the point of having this even exist
its so underdeveloped and confusing and i hate it
the transparent world stuff is also confusing as shit and its pretty much never explained how they work aside from the vague âclose your mindâ advice, like why did it exist, it did nothing to help the present day demon slayers
its just so... poorly integrated
yeah anyways this is around the same rating as the akaza fight but a little worse bc there wasnt that strong set up beforehand
VS KOKUSHIBOU (SENGOKU ERA)
[Image Description: Manga panel of a bag getting ripped open, pieces of a wooden flute tumbling out. End Image Description.]
10/10
easily 10/10
this fight shows the tragedy of kokushibou giving in to his envy and hatred, when yoriichi cries over seeing his own family commit terrible attrocities against the people he wanted to protect
and yoriichi dies, now carrying the fact that he couldnt even save his own brother from the influence of muzan on his conscious forever
what a sad ending for yoriichi
and after koku angrily slashes apart yoriichiâs corpse, having him find and keep the flute he gave to him when they were kids to the present day gives him a small shred of humanity in the midst of his monstrous anger
VS NAKIME
[Image Description: Manga panels of Nakime. The first one shows a low quality version of her playing her biwa. The second one is a close up of her eye. There are spiky text bubbles saying âItâs Upper Rank... 4!â End Image Description.]
0/10
no nakime backstory
not even a goddamn fight
forgettable
useless
VS MUZAN
[Image Description: Manga panel of Kibutsuji Muzan in his white-haired, mouth-covered form. There are text bubbles around him saying âNot a single one was of use to me. I will crush the demon hunters tonight. Iâll massacre them all right now.â End Image Description.]
1/10
._.
i have many complaints but ill try my best to not make this another hantengu rant section lol
first off, obanai deserved better
im serious, this poor dude was forgotten until pretty much the end when we finally get a backstory out of him
and then he died
what a waste of a potentially amazing character
mitsuri getting taken out early was ehhh
pretty sure someone else made a post about her supposedly being extremely strong but she was nerfed in this battle which i agree with
literally none of the pillars work together very well, like remember how i praised sanemi and gyomei for being super coordinated? lmao that doesnt exist anymore
you could say this is caused by desperation though and you wouldnt be wrong, its just boring to sit through
that causes issues bc this now basically requires the crimson sword and transparent world concepts to be there to spice things up
but in this fight, they do nothing in the long run (except for tanjirou using the crimson sword at the very very end)
youve already heard me talk about why those two things are super shittily integrated and i cant be bothered repeating myself so moving on
kanao, inosuke, and zenitsu
they... exist? they didnt do much tbh, which i guess is the point but like, now its boring again
nezuko could have been used as a potential way to raise the stakes and make things interesting again (like âah shit, muzan might actually be unkillable if he gets nezuko but its okay bc shes not here- oh fuck shes here this is not goodâ)
but nothing came of her running off except confirmation that she became human again so whatever
uzui and shinjuro are useless, why werent they at the fight?
like they could have followed nezuko and contributed to the battle even a little but they just didnt and now theres literally no point to them appearing in this arc at all
wasted potential
tanjirou
i wish him going absolutely apeshit had actual substance behind it, like it being a part of his character arc or something
i remember having this one theory that he had a corruption arc (due to dropping his kindness thing towards demons) and i wanted this to be true so badly
but it doesnt exist
not with how the series ended
god
the only thing that saves this fight from being complete trash is tamayoâs poison thing being amazingly executed
and the part where everyone got blasted away, losing limbs and shit, that made things a little more interesting again
but thats it
VS MUZAN (SENGOKU ERA)
[Image Description: Manga panels of Kibutsuji Muzan, Tamayo, and Tsugikuni Yoriichi. The first one has Muzan and Tamayo, while the second one has Yoriichi pulling out his sword. There are text boxes saying âAnd the moment I met him, I understood that I was born into this world to defeat this man.â End Image Description.]
9/10
finally something good again
while short, thatâs just the nature of all of yoriichiâs battles with demons
anyways pretty nice, theres a clear reason why this battle exists (shows the scenario that made the original breather get super close to defeating muzan in detail)
adding tamayo here was a nice touch
my only complaint is that it seemed extremely coincidental that yoriichi somehow developed a breathing style specifically countering muzanâs multiple organs without even knowing prior that he had all those brains and hearts floating around freely in his body
like thats kind of ridiculous, even for yoriichi whos supposed to be âblessed by the godsâ
could just be me though
VS TANJIROU
[Image Description: Manga panels of Kamado Tanjirou in his demon form. The first image has his eyes closed. The second image has his eyes opened and the tumor on his face almost completely faded. There are text boxes around him saying âYou will destroy the demon hunters in my stead.â End Image Description.]
1/10
hoo boy
ok first off, demon tanjirou lasted for 2 chapters
thats it
2 chapters
so thats already a problem
i am aware its meant to parallel the beginning of the series but also its ridiculous how completely vague and rushed this entire thing was
nezuko doesnt do shit through not just this battle but this entire arc which i already explained so not gonna go into it further
kanao magically having a demon cure on her made very little sense
the scene where tanjirou leaves muzan in purgatory is pretty but if you look at it in the context of everything else, its ambiguous and confusing
(if someone could explain it and see how it connects to the original theme of âdemons just being victims of circumstance,â i would love to hear it)
/
actually you know what makes me so mad about this âfightâ as a whole? there was so much potential to do more with this concept
and im not talking about him escaping and nezuko becoming a demon slayer roleswap au (even though its a pretty cool concept)
him becoming a demon could have been a metaphor for his lost kindness and sympathy towards demons halfway through the series
it could have been a punishment for letting his anger towards muzan cloud his judgement
it could have symbolized literally anything about him losing his humanity as he got stronger
but those three things are just scenarios from my head, they dont exist in this series just based off of what weve seen from these two chapters
its disappointing
the only thing keeping this from getting a 0 is the one part where inosuke couldnt chop off tanjirouâs head bc he cared about him too much
that at least shows inosuke had grown as a character
everything else is just meaningless and convoluted garbage and âconvolutedâ is not what you should be aiming for if this is supposed to be the ending of your series
IN SUMMARY
early kny is very good, later kny is questionable and the ending is just a mess of wasted potential and disappointment
i get why gotouge had to have the transparent world ability, crimson blade ability, and the demon marks appear before they all appeared on yoriichi but theyre all just so underdeveloped and terribly handled in the battles they are used, it makes me want to kick a wall
like lmao, i could literally think of so many ways they could have been properly integrated, hell, im even writing a whole goddamn rewrite using my ideas for these three things (link to that is in my pinned)
just, god
if you want to debate over these ratings, my ask box is open ig? idk

Alright, Period Cramps just set in and Im looking for songs anyway so Im gonna be listening to every RWBY Song (V1-V7) in chronological order and rank them, starting with the worst. Lets go!
Caffeine: Thank god the team with the Nazi-based leader has the shittiest song so far.
Celebrate: Why tf is this here
Shine: Ehhhh. I dont really know why but the vibes were all off, somehow. The fact that really dislike Jaune (and as an extension, Arkos) doesn't help either.
Forever Fall: This song was 5 minutes long and it felt like 20
Brand New Day: I barely even registered that
Fear: not the worst
Lets Get Real: Either Im too tired or the songs are getting worse
War: Im ranking this one higher because it wasnt over 4 minutes
Bmblb: All the love songs are so generic
Dream Come True: Im listening to all these songs in the form of Lyric Videos and the art used in this one made me think 'Oh, a Jaune Song... Great. Well, maybe we'll get Jaune pining after Phyrrah now! Yknow, to balance it out. A cute lil song of him pining for a nice girl might me like him a bit more!' and guess what. It wasnt that. It was another Arkos Song from Phyrrahs perspective. AND this one had unnecessary Girl-Hate towards Weiss! For no reason! The only reason its above Shine is because they atleast got the vibes right this time.
Not Fall In Love With You: I think Im just not a big fan of the love songs.
Boop: It was pretty cute but nothing to write home about
Until The End: slow piano
Touch The Sky: Its not that bad, its just that Im tired and this song is too goddamn long
This Time (From Shadows II): A just fine song for a shitty arc
I Burn: I liked fine, until they started rapping.
Like Morning Follows Night: I thought this was gonna be one of the better love songs, then he started rapping.
Smile: All this does is make me question how Ilia was in the wrong even more. Sounded alright though.
The Triumph: Eh, pretty unremarkable opening for an unremarkable volume
This Will Be The Day: A very promising start! There's honestly not much to say here
From Shadows: It was fine. I liked the overall sound but the lyrics and the singing are just a bit too edgy for me.
Bad Luck Charm: Someone in the comments under the lyrics video said "looks like someone found his middleschool poetry" and honestly, yeah.
I May Fall: Hey, yknow how the FoB was apparently meant to happen in Volume 1? Yeah. Overall, I thought it was pretty alright. (You can probably already tell that Im not too big of a fan of the louder, more energetic songs so far.....
Trust Love: This is by no means a problem I have with only this song, but I hate how theyre all like "oh this isnt some FaIrYtAlE kid, this is real n dark n shit" as if RWBY isnt the least dark and least subversive story Ive seen in recent time
Rising: Alright but unremarkable
Miracle: Another alright but unremarkable one. At this point I feel like listening to these songs is frying my brain
Ignite: I was just gonna say its an alright Yang Song but that rap...
Big Metal Shoe: I can appreciate some fairy tale references
Gold: The chorus got a bit repetitive but I thought it was pretty cute
Home: Another cute lil family song! This one was kinda long though
Lionized: I really appreciate the vibe of this song
All Our Days: Adorable! I didnt really expect a Taiyang Song but this was pretty nice
Sacrifice: Not really much go say about this one, I thought it was fine
Neon: I feel like I just got aggressively flexed on in the nicest, yet most condescending way possible
Lusus Naturae: Very edgy, but in a way that I can appreciate more
Red Like Roses I: I really like the sound of this one! I kinda wish we had more lyrics, but this was the song used in the Red Trailer so Im assuming it was made to compliment the action more than anything. At the start and end there was this series of notes, that Im assuming is gonna be the Leitmotiv? Either way, Im curious how theyll use it
All Things Must Die: I feel like this song is definitely at its best during the slower bits
Lets Just Live: First of all, I cant believe they live-laugh-loved us. They kept mentioning like, stories and how 'this isnt your TYPICAL fairytale', I could practically feel the writers being like "Huh, huuuuuuuh? Arent we CLEVER? Yes we are, yes we are!" But other than it was mostly fine. A bit long, maybe.
Armed And Ready: Pretty alright Yang Song, I felt like it was just a bit too long
It's My Turn: Not much to say, I thought it was a fine Weiss Song
Nevermore: I think its good
Wings: I really enjoyed this song! Caseys voice is lovely and I think its a very good Blake Song
Indomitable: I liked this one, but I feel like its mainly because the line "the spirit is indomitable" reminds of Flame from VRAINS
When It Falls: This song is trying very hard to convince you that RWBY is Dark Now. And given that Im pretty sure this is V3s opening, I guess it fits. Oh well, it still sounded pretty nice.
One Thing: A real slappin song thats going straight to my YGO-playlist as well
All That Matters: Very neat song about Yang's conflicting feelings on Blake's return. Shame theyre literally not conveyed at all in the show.
Die: Very agressive title, but okay. I also enjoyed this one, who wouldve guessed. I love this whole vibe of Desperate Heroism In A World In Ruin, yknow? Its there in Time To Say Goodbye and Red Like Roses II (two of my favourite songs so far) too. Though it is quite dissapointing that the show never really matched it.
Hero: I dont get how people can look at this and go "yeah, Ironwood was clearly always a tyrant who never even remotely cared for others". Also Caleb Hyles my beloved
Time To Say Goodbye: Another very nice song! I also think the foreshadowing in the third verse (yknow the slow one) was quite well done. The only real issue is, that the plot point its foreshadowing is stupid as hell
The Path To Isolation: Why is Weiss a better character in her songs?
Divide: This song is trying very hard to convince you that RWBY is Dark Now pt 2. It is a banger though, so its fine.
Mirror Mirror: Funfact: This was technically the first RWBY-Thing Ive ever consumed! A Youtuber named Strawbelly made a german cover of this song (and the songs from the other trailers, I believe) and it was one of my favourites for a while. Ive also already listened to some of Weiss' other songs and I remember enjoying them too. I can definitely already tell that I prefer Caseys voice in the slower songs, so I really hope this keeps up
This Life Is Mine: Yoooooooooo, Caseys voice was amazing in this one(especially at the very start)! This is one of the Weiss Songs I listened to before I even watched RWBY and what can I say, I loved it back then and I love it now
I'm The One: Oh, this was absolutely lovely. For the first few seconds I thought I wouldnt like this one, but its a banger! I love the lyrics too, theyre very clever I think
Red Like Roses II: DUDE, I adored this! I did not expect there to be lyrics for Summer at all and I was so pleasently surprised! Sandra's voice was lovely, and I really hope I'll get to hear her again. But on a slightly more negative note, I feel like this is really where the whole 'RWBYs Songs Characterize The Protagonists In A More Compelling Way Than The Show Does'-Problem starts.
I originally wanted to write some kind of conclusion but Im tired and wanna read angst fics. Have a good night!

That Be Some Good Buttercream
Summary- Steve and Bucky get your help in replicating a howling commando days battle using Christmas baking fun. But... Does anything ever quite work out the way it should? Set in the same characters I used in Night In, Looking Pretty Fly and Popping Pez and Mismatched Socks. Written for @official-and-unstable-satanâ 300 Follower Celebration Challenge. She still has many prompts, check it out. Prompts in italiacs. No warnings, all fluffy.Â
Word Count- 1.6k
A/N- so proud of your accomplishments babes, you are an amazing writer and I love getting lost in your stories and listening to your ideas. I know your just gonna keep going up from here. Love you always babygirl đđđđđđđ
âBucky, they came around from the south endâÂ
âNo they did not. I remember Steve, I was there.â
âYea, and so was IâÂ
You and Sam had been listening to the two super soldiers carry on at the oversized table in the compounds kitchen dining area for a good hour before you readjusted the volume on the tv once more. Sam, half laying over half the couch remained scrolling on his phone, remarking.Â
âAint gonna do you no good, they just get louder.â
You sigh and hit the off button, he was right. Might as well go see what these two were up to anyways. Pushing yourself off the couch, Sam promptly stretched his legs out onto where you were sitting, making himself comfterable. âSee you on the other side Kid!â He joked, settling into watching youtube.Â
Wandering in, you saw the two men bent over large map, Steve with pencil in hand drawing arrows to discern where they started from, stretching it across what looked like a military base. Bucky shook his head.Â
âNo no no, Punk, I wasnt up there, I was down hereâÂ
âBucky, I had you up on the highest point, it just looks weird on paper.âÂ
âYou know what, this is pointless.â You could see Bucky getting aggitated with there project, pushing himself away from the table. âWe need like... a 3D model to get this right.âÂ
Steve to straightened up, his arms folding as he looked down at the heavily marked paper. âWell... Tony does have some...â You interrupt in this time, moving over to the table and taking a peek at what they were doing.Â
âYou know, I have an idea of how to make you two a 3D model.â Both the men quirked brows, curious as to what you had in mind. "Givingerbread reanatcment.âÂ
You expected a rebuttal, a laugh, anything, since you were joking. But the two of them actually looked thoughtful, glancing at each other. âIt would be easier then trying to draw it outâ Steve mentioned. âAnd easier then trying to get Tony to set up the AI model for us.âÂ
âPlus we get some fucking cookies... Im in.â Bucky grinned, obviously pleased in the options of snacks. What started as a joke from you became a very serious matter as the two Soldiers dragged you into the kitchen. The two of them looking at you expectedly.Â
âI was just joking guys, Im not making you a hydra replica gingerbread base. You know how much shit that would take.â At this point you backtracking a bit, wishing the words hadnt fallen out of your mouth so damn easily cause you thought is was funny.Â
âNonsense, you wont be doing all of it. Were going to help.â Steves already moving to wash his hands as Bucky is digging through a drawer and slipping on a god damn âKiss the Cookâ apron, he found in a drawer, ties it swiftly around his back and rolls up his sleeves.Â
âYou know you always wanted to boss us around Doll.â Bucky smirks, wiggling brows in a teasing manner. âYou finally get your chance.âÂ
You look between the two men, the two of them nodding in encouragement, Steve composed as ever, waiting for You to explain how to start, and Bucky well he was opening drawers, pulling out random stuff that he thought you might use. He held up a spatula with a smirk, slapping the utinsel against his palm. âHow about we get this train moving kids.âÂ
Relenting, you turn to your phone for a recipe. âOkay fine, since you all insist. We need flour, sugar, eggs, ginger, cinnamon....â While your listing, both men are scrambling to find everything, and piling it on the counter, yourself you bring out some bowls, cookie cutters, lets face it. You needed the actual men to decorate like howling commandos. Turning on the oven to get it preheated, you search for decorations. âSteve, store run? We gotta make this accurate you know, and Buckys all dressed up for a day baking. Hate to send him." You just kinda motion lver Buckys getup, the kiss the cook stretched over his chest, the apron a size to small for him really.
Your already grabbing paper and jotting down a detailed list of food coloring, frosting, candies and such. Steve snatched the list when you held it out, he had a general idea of it all and nodded. "Dont hesitate to put Bucky to work. He just pretends to be all intimidating."
You roll your eyes and back in the kitchen theres a "Steve your a dick" retort from Bucky whos looking over the mess of ingredients piled on the counter. Steve, seemingly joyful as he grabbed keys and left, you suspect you might not see him at least another hour or two. No worries, you had the other super soldier on hand.
Heading back in you hand Bucky a bowl and eggs. "Start cracking, separating yolk from white, and no shells." You cant help but from watching him, looking a bit like a lost child, before he he starts to crack eggs and inspect for shells. You watch from the corner of your eye as you put together the dry ingredients, and start mesuring out the molasses, talking him through the rest of the buttercream frosting ingredients.
Dipping your finger in his finished product, you lick the tip of your finger, smirking at his widened eyes. Yea Steve, hes very intimidating. You maybe took a bit to much pleasure in teasing Bucky on occasion. "Mmmhh my very favorite part.... "
He cleared his throat and looked away, it might be a bit mean, but he would give it back later, this was a dance the two of you played. "Okay, what now?" He said a bit gruff and you grab your rolling pin, holding it to him.
Eyeing it a moment, his brow arched. "Ya want me to roll the dough?"
"Yea Buck, nice and thin, since you two want to make all these outer buildings as well." Pointing to Steve's sketching, And you reached in the dough and piled it on the counter on front of Bucky. "And Steve said to put you to work."
"I notice you gave Steve the easy job." He muttered as he started to flatten the dough.
"I knew you were more capable."
Bucky couldn't hide the grin at the compliment, and afterwards you both measured, cut and got the cookie sheets in the oven. Stealing part of the couch back from Sam and watching trash tv till the oven beeped. Bucky vaulted over the couch, head back into the kitchen and pulled them out of the oven.
"Are they firm?" You ask, peeking at them, a light brush of your fingers against them. The room smelled like bake gingerbread and smooth sugar. Tempting delectables to say the least.
"Yup, now what?"
"Cool and mantle your buildings." You say as You slide them off onto wire racks. "Go get the frosting, and I will show you." Already he was rummaging in the fridge to retrieve it. Peeling off the plastic cling, you pick up one of the cooler pieces and edged it with icing. Folding two pieces together. "Easy as that. You try."
Bucky took it so seriously, the tip of his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth as he piped that icing. His brows furrowed together in a dip right at the center. You bite back a grin and get a large dollop of icing on your finger and flick it at the man. Landing right in his face. He drops his cookie in surprise and blinks though the icing. "Fucken hell, Y/N! Whats that for?" Wiping it off, he flicks it back at you and you squeal getting hit.
That's war!
"Oh its on Barnes" smirking as you grab a cookie and crumble it, shooting it at him. Cookies fly, icing it flung, flour, and sugar is used to blind one another, you two ducked around the table, screaming and yelling insults playfully.
Bucky tried using the hose at the kitchen sink to spray you, in which you ducked and rolled right into him, the two of you collapsing in a heap on the floor among all your hard work, broken and scattered. Steve stood in the doorway, arms laden with two paper bags, his jaw hanging open at the mess. Bucky pokes you to get your attention and the two of you sit up, covered. Head to toe in frosting, flour and cookies.
"I was just gone an hour..."
"Its a long time to be left unsupervised." You shrug as you smear some frosting off your shirt and lick it off your finger, Bucky helped himself to your shirt frosting to since he had thrown half the bowl on you.
"Oh damn, thats good!" He grins.
"What about this is good?! You mean your gingerbread murder scene?!" Steve toed a dead gingerbread man with the tip of his shoe.
Bucky looked around and glared at his friend. "IT WAS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE" His voice raided to defend the mess and you promptly stuff a cookie in his mouth to shut him up.
"Come on Steve. Did the Hydra base not look like this after you two and the howling commandos were done?" You throw a cookie at him which bounced off his chest. "Eat a cookie, you feel better" next to you Bucky continued eating broken gingerbread men, grinning at his friend and nodding.
"Best damn cookies besides your mama's!" Bucky added between mouthfuls
"I just... Pick this up you two before tony throws a fit." Turning with the bags of candy he bought, passing Sam, he ditched them on the man still scrolling youtube
"You couldn't watch them for two seconds Sam?"
"And break up that little love fest? Puh-lease" Sam grinned at Steve and dug into the paper bags looking through the snacks, pulling out twizzlers.
"SCORE!"

At least thereâs a silver lining, though! And hopefully youâll be able to catch up on some rest once youâre done with this,, And then draw! Because rest is very important, ahaha. Hhhmmm. HHHMMM. My longing for long haired Atsushi is increasing by the minute. I bet Dazai tugs on the ends when itâs up in a braid or a ponytail to get his attention. Anyways listen, theyâre simple boys who are: NOT. Used to people being Nice to them, they canât handle it? (Nyanon, 1/3)
Which just makes their boyfriends even more stubborn... I fully expect the two of them to be the âthe only one who can do X to them is MEâ friends by the by. Just saying. And! Atsushi teaching kids,, I Love Him. I can just see him going from âoh no a cool author is coming here, act coolâ to âoh no heâs cuteâ to âoh no is he flirting with me??? No wayâ to âoh no the cute author is flirting with meâ to âOH GOD MY KIDS ARE TRYING TO SET US UP, ABORT ABORT.â (Nyanon, 2/3)
Now, in return for the AU, have! Another Concept: Dazatsu story-art swap AU! To be specific, Dazai is writing a story, and Atsushi keeps drawing fanart for it? So Dazai writes another chapter like âthis is for you, your artâs amazing, I love you stranger on the Internet.â Atsushi then makes MORE art and flails, because âno my art isnât that good bUT your writing is nice and I love it.â And then itâs just. Endless back and forth as they get crushes on each other. (Nyanon, 3/3)
bro the tangled dazatsu au has long haired atsushi- PLUS I DREW HIM but man now i wanna draw tangled dazatsu . AAAAAAAA- (also tomorrow ill have my math test PHEW WISH ME LUCK)
dazai and chuuya are perfect for exposure therapy, i mean they max so hard that atsushi and akutagawa Gotta get used to it (they never do). in another au chuuya and dazai would be the rich ceo sons about to inherit a company and are forced to be friends because of their fathers (for business) even though they despise each other. when they make each other mad theyll just angrily splurge on their boyfriends
so what youre saying is,,,,fandom dazatsu where dazai is a fic writer and atsushi is a fanartist??? alright B E T IM CRYING
dazai is a well known fanfic author in the fandom whos genres span from horror to just pure fluff. hes a whole writing machine and nobody knows what time zone hes in because he always seems to be awake at the weirdest times. Because of his range in fanfic genres many people in the fandom reads his works and hes the type to spontaneously start a multi chaptered fic out of nowhere- hell hes the type to start many multi chaptered work out of nowhere and just drop them and say hes âfueled by coffeeâ (he rarely follows others and his ratio is âskinnyâ as they say and he only seems to be close with and interact mostly with chuuya and akutagawa who bully the shit out of each other )
meanwhile atsushi is a relatively infamous fanartist for his fandom (among others) who falls in love with dazais writing and has always enjoyed it. hes the type to mostly draw fluff but will occasionally pull out the dark stuffÂ
anYWAYS. one day dazai looks at his mentions (because hes an attention whore okay) and catches atsushis art. completely mesmerised by it he instinctively reblogs/tweets and probably gives a chill compliment but the way atsushi reacts to it immediately makes him become more affectionate towards atsushi (even immediately hitting the follower button)
eventually they move on from interacting to dazai finally hitting the dms and they just hit it off okay </3

October part 6
A/N: I have so many parts prewritten for this. Please send me your feed back on this! Whether its good or bad! Hope you enjoy
Harrison OSterfield x OC
Warnings: none.Â
Word count: 1.3k The rest of the day went by quickly. All day Emma could still feel Harrison's hands like burns on her waist, his fingers splayed across her skin, never fading. The first rehearsal went by okay, other than a few dirty looks when she was given first part over the three other flutes, who have certainly been doing this much longer than she has. One she started playing though, the piccolo piercing in her ears, they seemed a little less angry. An older woman in her thirties and a man of about the same age, Janice and David, eventually actually complimenting the university student on her talent and tone.
It was late on a Wednesday afternoon, Emma sat in Tomâs trailer with Sam and Harry, each of them doing their own thing while waiting for om to finish up his scenes. Everyone else had already wrapped, Tom was the only actor left on set that day. Emma lounged on his ouch, her laptop open on her lap as she composed and texted Hannah, sending her samples occasionally for feedback, mostly receiving shitty texts about her day, or how she hasnât drunk anything but pop in the past day and a half. As if she needs more energy.
Tom walked in after about an hour and a half, Harrison trailing behind.
âLetâs get this over with. I wanna go homeâ Tom flops on the couch near Emmaâs feet. She sits up, making space for Harrison to sit and switching tabs immediately as Tom starts talking, answering questions he had memorized by now.
âEm, what would you be doing if you werenât here?â Tom asks once heâs answered all the questions.
âThought you wanted to go home, Hollandâ Emma chuckles, switching back to her composing and continuing to work on it.
âYeah, well now I wanna know what youâd be doing if you werenât so lucky to have me grace your presenceâ Tom spoke. A smile split across Emmaâs face, showing off her white teeth, her dimple prominent in her left cheek.
âHow do you guys deal with him?â Emma looked towards the other three boys
âWe donâtâ All three of them spoke, a pillow being tossed across the trailer towards Harry.
âI was planning on going back home for the summer. I havenât seen Hannah in almost two years and phone calls are certainly not enoughâ Emma smiled as she received a text from Hannah as she spoke.
âGonna take a guess and say thatâs your best mate?â Harrison spoke quietly, bright blue eyes met Emmaâs darker ones as she nodded, a sad smile on her lips.
âWeâve known each other since we were 7. Went to different universities but we were both performance majors before I switched into composition. Sheâs a handful but I love herâ
âSounds like Tomâ Harry threw the pillow back at Tom as he spoke
âDare I say worse?â Emma laughed.
Tom started some tangent on how âheâs not really that badâ and âyou guys are just meanâ. Emma was too distracted by the notification on her phone as it buzzed.
TonyâĄ: IM GOING TO PARIS TOMORROW
TonyâĄ: COME WITH ME
TonyâĄ: ITâLL BE FUN I PROMISE
Emma smiled and looked up at the boys.
âYeah yeah whatever Tom. Hey Haz can you do me a favour tomorrow?â Emma looked over at the blond boy.
âDepends. What is it?â Harrison couldnât help but start to count her freckles as she spoke.
âTony wants me to come to Paris with him tomorrow. Can you just send me Tomâs answer to the questions for whatever scenes he films?â Emma smiled gently. How could he say no to her?
âYeah sure,â Tom had the questions memorized. Itâd be easy right? Itâs just one day, Emma does this every day.
âThank you so much. Anyways. Tom do you still want to go home?â Emma smiled as the boy sat up abruptly.
âYes pleaseâ
The next morning, Tony came to pick up Emma with Remy already in the car. The drive to the airport was filled with exhausted laughter as the trio still woke up. On the private jet, the three of them watched Infinity War. A horrible idea really. Emma started to fall asleep on Tony's shoulder quickly, only to be woken up by Remy yelling when he spotted Harrison on screen.
âDid you not know he was in it?â Emma spoke groggily, barely lifting her head off of Tony.
âI knew he was in it, I just havenât found him beforeâ Remy spoke, definitely way too awake for the time it was.
âJust keep it down. Iâm taking a napâ Emma moved off of tony and leaned her head against the wall of the plane, falling back asleep quickly.
She awoke about an hour later once they had landed in Paris. Quickly grabbing her purse and heading out into the cool morning air with Tony and Remy.
The sun had risen since they had left. Emma quickly texted Harrison reminding him to get the answers from Tom and to send them to her. Knowing heâll probably forget, she texts the only reliable one of Holland and co. Sam. He responds to her after a few minutes
Sammy: Didnât you ask Haz to do it? Why do I get the dirty work now?
Em: Do you really think heâll remember? Itâs not even that bad. Just use voice to text if you have to
Sammy: Fine. Iâll make sure it gets done.
Em: Thanks Sam :)
The morning was spent at the Arc de Triomphe, des Champs-ĂlysĂŠes, and the MusĂŠe de l'Orangerie. The three of them had stopped for lunch when Harrison had finally texted Emma back.
Hazđ: hes never this much of a div when you do this. Barely got anything out of him.
Emma: If you send the answers I might be able to decipher it
He sent a long message, clearly copied from his notes
Emma: You made it sound like it was going to be horrendous. Thatâs no worse than what I normally deal with
Hazđ: hey now. im never helping you again if this is how i get treated
Emma: Thank you haz!! đđ
Hazđ: youre welcome em.
Harrison stared at his phone a little longer, admiring Emmaâs contact photo. He took it while they were watching the dark knight rises in Toms trailer. Her hair was down around her shoulders, she wore a pale pink coloured shirt and Tomâs spiderman blanket was pulled up over her knees, bunching at her waist. Her back was against the armrest, her legs up on the couch, covered by the blanket. A bowl of popcorn sat in her lap. Haz had called her name multiple times so she would actually look at him. She looked past the camera towards Harrison curiously, her lips covered by her hand, holding a few pieces of popcorn.
âHaz. Delete itâ
âBut why? Itâs a nice photo!â Harrison exclaimed, smiling as he turned his phone towards her
âItâs really notâ
âCan i please keep it?â Harrison asked, giving her the best puppy dog eyes he could muster
âFine. But if anyone else sees it that's it for youâ Emma spoke after a moment of contemplation.
âYou two are so weird. Shut up and watch the movieâ Sam spoke up from his place on the floor.
The rest of Emma, Tony and Remyâs day consisted of the Louvre, and ending on the Eiffel tower as the sunset. At some point Remy had given Emma his jacket, claiming that the night would be cold and heâd be fine. She graciously accepted, not thinking anything of it. She stood between the two boys and watched the sunset, the sky swirling between pink, purple and orange. She hadnât noticed the boys glances towards each other.
On the way back, the three of them fell asleep in one big group, all sharing a blanket.

hi! im writing a reader insert character study combo (its multichap, and i dont usually write r-insert multichap fics!). im super excited to be writing it, but i had a question on backstory. so in my fic the reader is zuko/azulas sister, and (without spoiling too much) has a really complicated past. she ran away to kyoshi island around the tile her mother disappeared, ozai was physically abusive and negligent (though i never describe the abuse in detail bc this is set during book 1 on), and she basically had to brave the world at the ripe old age of 11 (sarcastic, she deserved better).
anyway, i was wondering how you typically structure backstory. im the kind of writer that likes revealing backstory as you go, but ive never done that with a r-insert before, so im not sure how jarring it would be to use dreams, references in dialogue, and thoughts to reveal history rather than writing it at the beginning.
i really love your writing, and you do a great job with characters, so even if you donât answer this, thank you!
hi!! first of all im so honored that you came to me to ask about this, and second of all your idea sounds really interesting!! if u decide to post it on tumblr then pls tag me
backstory is kinda hard, but i think the way that you're going about it is a pretty good idea. i dont think anyone really likes info dumps by characters about backstory, especially at the beginning, so lil bits and pieces here and there in the early story works better. for example, in the first chapter of ehfar there's little hints to what y/n is there for, but the reason is spilled when zuko annoys it out of her (lol) it's a natural way for that information to come out, not just writing it all out for no reason.
when you have a situation like yours where you wanna keep most her backstory secret to both the reader and the other characters in the story (which i assume is ur case), i think it helps to write down her whole backstory so you know what you're working with it, and then subtly let parts of it slip in throughout the actual story before the big reveal. if you're going to reveal parts in dialogue, try your best to make it natural and not just an infodump. if you're going to reveal parts in dreams, try and make them more abstract since that's usually how dreams are.
i have no idea if this actually makes sense or if it'll help you at all, but i hope it does lol. long fics are hard because of how much of a commitment they are and how much you have to keep consistent, so your best bet is planning it all out so you can keep that consistency and work up to whatever reveal you're trying to do with the backstory. i don't plan shit out and that's why everything i do is such a mess. don't be like me lmao
thank you so much for the compliment! i wish you the best of luck in your writing and if you have any other questions feel free to ask :-) <3

im crying not only bc of your amazing writing, but bc i was scrolling thru my dashboard and i saw you answering all these asks about new rules and iâm so dump thinking that you set up new rules or sthg, i didnât understand it so i read all those asks and fucking spoiled myself kmp, but on another note yOU FUCKING ROCK OMG NEW RULES IS SO AMAZING I LOVE IT đđđ
Anonymous said:I'M LOVING NEW RULES SO MUCH just wanted to show my support. i love your writing in general don't get me wrong but new rules is messing with my heart and it's amazing
Anonymous said:Hi! I just read both parts for "New Rules" and I loved them! If this goes in the same direction as Dua Lipa sings (I guess it will) it sounds like it'll be very interesting. I love how everyone in the story is human, not just good or bad, you know? 90% of fics would've made Mijoo the stereotypical barbie bitch, but you didn't and I was pleasantly surprised! I also feel very identified with the OC. I really want her to open up and discover who JK really is, whoever that is. Keep up the good work!
jabaelashit said:Hey! i already wrote you a message on one of your posts but i just wanted to say that i am feeling so skabakks right now, I can't stop thinking about new rules and i'm torn between crying or crying but w angsty. I hope oc learns her worth and can understand she's just as amazing as mijoo, even better if we're talking about morals but oh well people fuck up:( I'm glad she forgave her but I hope she distances from her cause that gurl ain't having the same respect for the friendship as oc/1
jabaelashit said:and i also hope she gets to tell jimin her feelings not to like make him break stuff w mijoo, but to let him know she hadnt seen the note and to release some pressure and feelings cause oc bottles up so much and i just want to go and hug her and don't leave her until she understands shes fucking badass and cool and that the way she thinks is đđđ lu you've made me feel such a diverse amount of emotions i don't know what to do w myself anymore, your writing is amazing! love love loove youâŁ/2
Anonymous said:Hey!!:) idk if this is the right place to send compliments cause im really new to tumblr but THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR FICS. Tbh I'd buy it if you published a physical compilation;)
Anonymous said:Wow for the longest time I was searching your old username; idek why cause Iâve known you changed your username and have been keeping up to date with you LMAO this is what being sick and delirious does to me. ANYWAYS! Hope youâre not too down with the crazy anons your story is great and Iâm thankful for the dynamic characterizations you create! It makes it so much more interesting cause you create many characters with depth!!
Anonymous said:Can I please just have your writing talent? The OC is just so real, and that moment when she's deciding what to do with Mijoo, and what she actually says at the end.... I can't actually put my thoughts into words. I'm legit stunned by the sheer amount of emotions I felt reading the second chapter. I genuinely adore the banter between JK and OC, I personally prefer people to be more direct with what they want, so I already appreciate them, but also Jimin's convo with OC... (1/2)
Anonymous said:Jimin's convo with OC... Idk about these other anons going off on Mijoo, I was more thinking 'why didn't Jimin chase the note?' and then he would have had his answer then and there. But that might have just been me... And also, thinking back to it now, when JK said 'I need you' and OC repeated it back to him like super softly, like she was surprised oh god, okay, my heart is breaking even more for OC now, idk if I'm reading too much into it. I love you Lu, I hope you're well, and happy! (2/2)
Anonymous said:I love your fics so much!! The sass is real esp with jungkook đ
Anonymous said:Anyways do ya thang hunny ⨠Keep wrecking me with your writings đâ¨đâ¨đâ¨đâ¨đâ¨đŠ
Anonymous said:Read part 1 of New Rules and was like yeah thisll be fun, I'll have a great time. Then I read part 2 and ended up shedding some real tears at the end?!?! LU WHAT THE...... But really though its so nice to read a fic where the OC values friendship. The idea that its always girls against girls makes me sad.. we should be sticking together!!
Anonymous said:so... surprise surprise, dis gon be about new rules đ but I really wanted to thank you for adding so much of the oc's inner dialogue, and making her such a character in the first place. a lot of fics do not portray ocs with more defeatist attitudes, but yours does and I was glad, because I could finally relate to a fic :) also, coming back to the inner dialogue thing, it was so in depth that i could really feel what the oc was feeling, what she was going through. it was amazing â¤ď¸ thank you!
Anonymous said:Man this is one hell of a good fic iâm highly anticipating the next chapter!!! Even though it seems like traditional frat fuckboy x âi hate frat bois but ye iâd fuck uâ type of girl it still is in a way a little different i just canât quite catch how but nonetheless itâs amazing!!! Keep up the good work babe
oceanjoon said:ok so ur newest fic new rules literally is so real n relatable !! like honestly i understand seeking physical comfort in people u dont care about wen u r feeling down/insecure to validate urself n it just rlly hit home
kyarybunny said:Lu. At this point I have so many compliments to give you I can't really form it all properly. But I really am enjoying New Rules and this plot you're breathing life into! It's a different facet of your writing and I love how you can interpret every character's actions in a few different ways. Thank you for continuing to write and I hope you enjoy writing as much as we do reading/analyzing.
Anonymous said:Istg when I read the new chapter of New Rules I clenched my fist like that Arthur meme when it came up to the part about mijoo and the note. Girl got me heated lol. As usual, your works do not disappoint! I love your wittiness and how it shines in your writing. The remarks and dialogue in all of your series really proves your talent. Youâre truly a gem amongst fanfic writers đâşď¸đ˘
Anonymous said:i was happily reblogging a few things on my dash and ch1 of new rules just came and i started reading WHERE THE FUCK DID I GET MY ASS INTO???!!!???!?! IT'S FUCKING AMAZING i don't know why i didn't start reading before. don't you ever dare stop writting, you're such a good writter and i enjoy your works very very much
Anonymous said:OC DESERVES HAPINESS JUST AS MUCH AS MIJOO. OC SHOULDVE PUT HERSELF AND HER HAPPINESS BEFORE HER FRIEND'S BECAUSE SHE IS TOO GOOD FOR ALL OF THEM DJFJFJ i hope one day jimin finds out about her feelings :(
Anonymous said:new rules just keeps getting better and better đťđť
Anonymous said:Wow.. Okay.. I do believe chapter 2 of New Rules has officially ruined me. My heart was actually beating so fast through out the whole chapter, and it's still racing now too. I've thought this multiple times while reading your fics, but you're writing really is incredible. Your characters and the way you describe their emotions is so unbelievably relatable that the reader can't help but be sucked in. I always find myself becoming invested in your characters! Thank you for all the adventures!
Anonymous said:I felt so bad for the OC this chapter ;.; If I were in her position, I'd probably do the same since causing a scene is yes, immature and not worth the energy. But, if i could be a character in New Rules I'd probably be the other best friend who'll be like "guurl, confront her ass it isnt an excuse just because she's your friend." All in all I see the OC as the kind of person who'll go out of their way to care for someone to the point of disregarding their own feelings, which is unhealthy :( (1)
Anonymous said:(2) but thats what makes her such a relatable character. I really, really like that in your OCs. This is probably the second OC i emotionally relate to, first is Copper Girl. But yeah I'm just distracting myself from assignments lol this series is amazing and just you are amazing Lu!!!! ily!!!!! PS. Jungkook is still agsjshskll he's cocky but with OC he's quite vulnerable. I wonder why? Is it just a front or does he have other intentions?
Anonymous said:alternative ending to new rules: mijoo and mc are over their respective boys, does not bother to get into any messy scenarios like that ever again, love each other and support each other and is forever the friendship that everyone envies anD I HATE THIS SITUATION SO MUCH GODDAMMIT LU!!! UR REALLY TRYING TO TEAR MY HEART APART!!
marchxseptember said:OH MY GOD CHAPTER TWO IS UP. I HAD A FEELING SO I HAD TO CHCK UR ACC AND I WAS RIGHT. BRB GONNA READ
marchxseptember said:AND THE PLOT THICKENS. I JIST FINISHED READING CH. 2 AND I AM FUCKED UP. I HAD A THEORY BEFORE BUT NOW I HAVE LIKE 2 MORE IM CONFUSED. I LOVED IT SOOO MUCH. AND I HATE MIJOO NOW. I CANT WAITT TO SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN. THIS WAS SO GOOD LU.
omg the amount of response ive gotten for new rules is unbelievable. I dont think ppl were even this into equilibrium. the last time u guys acted like this was during the golden boy trilogy and it really feels so good to have this again.
thank you all for your thoughtful messages and for giving this ridiculous little fic a chance. I love you all

(1/2) about the love to fanfic authors ask game! FAVORITE FIC would have to be a draw between the oihaba fic using the prompt: "Something about you makes me want to commit extreme violence," and the yahaba fic using the prompt: "just come back alive...okay?" because those were the first fics i'd read from you (the yahaba one went first and the oihaba fic followed) and after reading the oihaba fic i just fell in love with your writing and i knew i was gonna fucking follow you. FAV HEADCANON is-
{the "(1/2)" was a mistake! it's supposed to be (1/?)} (2/?) -that suga is an angelic little devil 'cos naughty suga is somthing i'm never going to get tired of reading and because it just surprisingly fits his personality so damn well. FAVORITE LINE would be: "A nod, and that overwhelmingly gorgeous grin directed at him again. âExactly.â" from the bokuroo fill inspired by "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" and "A Whole New World" 'cos i felt so many emotions right then and there and that fic was- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(3/?) fucking beautiful and i just love bokuroo so much i could literally actually feel my heart swell with love and i smiled so much the entire time. FAVORITE SCENE would be: "If thereâs anything that Tetsurou prides himself on, itâs knowing everything about the kingdom he lives in. He knows all the best places to hide and to relax, where to find the best food, and all the little out of the way spots that hardly anyone else ever bothers with. It comes in useful when Bokuto needs a night to get- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(4/?) -his mind off of his problems. Tetsurou sneaks into the castle as stealthy as the cats he shares the streets with, and he sneaks back out with Bokuto in tow, carefully avoiding prying eyes on the way. And itâs slow, but during their little adventure touring Tetsurouâs hidden gems, Bokutoâs mood lifts and his smile gets brighter, until Tetsurou catches himself staring at that instead of the stars above them." because once again my heart literally actually swelled and when i reread it- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(5/?) earlier it literally actually swelled again cardiologist help me. the scene was just really sweet, man, the entire fic was fucking gorgeous. my FAVORITE AU would be the aforementioned bokuroo "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" + "A Whole New World" fic but the AsaSouSuga (or whatever the hell the ship name was i can't remember" demon! AU is a close second. it was kinda hard to find a FAVORITE CANON fic 'cos all of your fics seem to be set in a time where they're older (post-canon if you will)- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(6/?) but that i interpreted as closest to canon was the TsukkiHina fic using the prompt: "Stop looking at me you smug heathen, you were right once." where it rained, made me feel a little something for the rarepair, and i like it :) FAVORITE CHARACTERIZATION would be "By the time that Lev and the rest of the team has cleaned up and gotten into stretching, Kuroo has finally finished his captainâs duties with the coaches, and he does his best to drape himself over Morisuke to look at the- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(7/?) -clipboard in his hands. On the floor next to their feet, Kenma snorts and continues stretching half heartedly, clearly already wanting to put his time to better use. Morisuke doesnât have to look to know that Kuroo has that goofy grin on his face that means he thinks Kenmaâs being cute, even though heâs not actually doing anything." because 1) yes kuroo would get in his lover's space just to piss them off because it's just him and he'd just play the card of paralyzed giant cat 'cos he CAN Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(8/?) and 2) because i do feel like kenma does stretch half-heartedly too (seriously kenma bb stretch properly i sprained my own ankle yesterday cos my fuckass didn't stretch right :/) the entire fic was just fucking golden and fun and lighthearted banter and by the end of it i was cackling a noise akin to the sound of a herbivore being dragged to its water death by a crocodile (that's a compliment, by the way, i guess.) FAVORITE JOKE would be actual angelic suga striking again with:Â
(9/?) âYou look a little stuck, babe.â Suga barely manages to quell the snickering to speak. âCat got your tongue?â because yes actual angelic devil suga would say something as snide as that with a fucking cheshire-worthy grin can u tell i love angelic devil suga a lot anyway moving on. FAVORITE ONE-SHOT would be the kuroyaku "I will face God and walk backwards to hell" because i needed that herbivore-being-dragged-to-its-watery-death-by-a-crocodile laugh man. FAVORITE SAD BIT would be the ficÂ
(10/?) about falling in love with their best friendâs partner au + AsaDaiTana because the burn of unrequited love was so fucking welcome because i like slow burning pain so much that was an exquisite kind of pain man đĽ cheers 11/10 would hurt again. i don't really have a favorite series and i'm not really one to reread fics no matter how impacting they were because to me fics are a one time thing and reading them again loses its "love at first sight" kind of touch that i crave fanfics for tbh       Â
(11/?) but honestly your writing is absolutely fantastic, your characterization's spot on and your portrayal of the relationships feels so real and actual and as a writer that takes a lot of skill to replicate and you my dude have that skill
(12/12) talk about you behind your back." and the goshihinatsukki + "things you said under the stars and in the grass" but when it boils down to it the oihaba and yahaba fic rightfully felt like my favorite fic from you, because you never really do get over that first love ;) i hope you had fun reading this 12-part thingie featuring my overuse of "and" and any other conjunction basically. (sorry for blowing up in your inbox but hey gotta do shit to let a writer know they're loved ily man

mouth full of white lies {Machine Gun Kelly} 6 // FINALE
6. you know, youâre my whole world
Summary: So youâre actually together! Hooray! But filming is going to wrap, and your brother wants to to talk, and what if this is just a summer fling?! Colson says itâs not, you think itâs time to start trusting what he says over your own anxiety.
A/N: Itâs not NSFW, im really not in the headspace to write smut.Â

----
Filming is due to wrap in a few days and you donât quite know what to do with yourself. Youâre flailing a little bit, like you seemed to do at the end of every project. Itâs not that you didnât know how to fill your time, you did; your own career filled your time very nicely when you wanted it to, but this is the most time youâve spent with your brother in a long while and you werenât looking forward to saying goodbye.
Back in LA, youâre trying not to cling to the cast, or more specifically, to your brother and your boyfriend, and itâs working on set, but after filming wraps for the whole band scenes, you feel yourself growing quiet as the boys suggest celebratory drinks. Douglas still has a few final shots they wanna film, but itâs the last time theyâll need the whole band together, at least until potential reshoots. Itâs Thursday, and in a week and a half thereâs gonna be a wrap party, and youâre all still going to be hanging around until then, Colson most of all since he lives here, but it feels so final.
âHowâre you holding up, Duck?â Daniel finds you hovering by the bar of the club that you didnât catch the name of, while your brother was buying drinks down the other end, and Colson was having a smoke, and you were trying to not act as awkward as you felt.
âGood, good,â you assure him, nursing your still-full drink, âitâs just gonna be weird not to see you guys every day.â
âWe can call you every day if youâre feeling lonely; it might be two in the morning, Iâm not great at timezones,â he tells you with a smile, and you grin back, thankful, at the very least, for the gesture.Â
âColsonâs house is never empty, I donât think Iâll ever be lonely,â your voice is fond, and Daniel snorts into his drink, giving a knowing hum, âbut I might still take you up on that offer,â you paused, before your grin stretches wide and you bat your eyelashes at him almost comically, âwould you sing to me if I asked nicely.â
âIf I did, can I tell people itâs because you asked, and not because I miss playing Vince?âÂ
âAbsolutely; your secretâs safe with me.â The two of you cheers to that, and itâs starting to hit you just how much youâll miss this cast. After a beat, you sigh a little forlornly, but arenât given time to dwell in your melancholy before your brother rejoins you.
The night eases on, and you feel yourself relaxing with the people you love by your side, bar hopping into the early hours of the morning, dancing and drinking, and sloppily making out with Colson in various dark corners. Itâs a night thatâs blurry at the edges, heart warm and conversation easy, falling into bed laughing when the sun comes up. When you wake the next day, itâs to your brother calling and inviting you out to eat.
âLate brunch,â he calls it.
âI think at this point itâs just lunch.â You yawn around your answer, and you hear Colson laugh into his pillow, which makes you smile. You tell him youâll be there in an hour, to which Colson groans, surfacing from his own pillow to dramatically sprawl over you.
âHow are you even awake, man?â He sighs when you put Douglas on speaker, âwe donât have anything to do today, why not celebrate and sleep in.â
âHeâs always been like this,â you sigh, just as Douglas answers almost identically. With a shake of his head, Colson presses his smile against your cheek, followed by a kiss.Â
âDude, youâre a robot,â Colson mutters, though itâs fond, and he rolls back over, pulling his pillow out from beneath his head and holding it over his face, yawning into it. Douglas invites him to lunch, but Colson graciously denies; âI love you guys, but as soon as Ducky leaves, Iâm passing the fuck out again.âÂ
When you get to the cafe your brother has picked out, heâs doing his utmost best to act casual, but you see through it almost immediately by the way heâs rearranging the sugar packets instead of looking at you.
âWhat?â You ask him flatly as you pick up the menu; finally he looks to you, all wide-eyed feigned innocence.
âCanât I just want to get lunch with my dear sister?â
âYou can, sure,â you concede with a nod of your head, opening the menu, your eyes on the drinks, âbut usually youâre less obvious with your ulterior motives.â Flicking your gaze from the menu, already knowing what you want, you can see him grimace.
âI donât know how to word it,â he admits after a beat, still fiddling with a packet of sugar, not meeting your gaze; you try to prompt him, but he beats you to the punch; âhow long did you intend on pretending to be with Colson?âÂ
Alarm bells are ringing in your head and it takes all your self control not to slap a hand over his mouth. Instead, you shush him loudly, looking around, frantically, terrified someone had heard. When you look back at him, you see a faintly amused smile, and you realised that your reaction had managed to confirm all of his suspicions.Â
âHow long have you known?â
âA while,â and heâs less cagey now, settling back in his chair. The waitress comes up and you both pace an order for a drink, him looking calm and collected, you looking like youâre about to leap across the table and maul him at any given second. After she leaves, after sheâs out of earshot, he continues, âsince you told me you loved him, and two days later he came up to me and asked if it would be weird if he was in love with you; I just thought âwhy would it be weird? Youâre together arenât you?â, but then it hit me.â
âItâs not - fake -â you whisper the word, âanymore.â
âI can tell,â Douglas says with a gentle fondness. He doesnât seem mad, just thoughtful.Â
âWhat?â You ask again, softer this time, a little sheepish, like youâre just waiting for him to ask why you lied to him. But he doesnât.
âAre you happy, Duck?â It hits you out of left field, almost winds you, and you see the genuine concern in his eyes.
âOf course,â you tell him, and he wears a familiar smile, âColson makes me so happy, Doug,â you admit, and his smile widens.
âIâm just glad you two decided to get your shit together,â he mused, âbecause you know I was not above parent-trapping the pair of you.â
âI think youâd have to get in line behind Casie,â you said with a slight smile, and Douglas laughed brightly, though you considered for a moment, âwhat a strange pair youâd make, you two trying to get Colson and I to admit our feelings for each other.â
âWouldnât be surprised if sheâs already got a plan already figured out; I saw her on set, youâve gotten yourself a duckling of your own,â Douglas tells you, and you canât help the embarrassingly pleased little smile.
âYou think so? Sheâs such a cool kid,â you enthuse, trying to play it off, but your brother gives an almost disbelieving smile.
âYouâre cool, Duck.â He assures you, and you canât help feeling pleased at his compliment.
The rest of lunch goes smoothly; Douglas asks you what your plans are after filming wraps, and you tell him that youâre probably going to stay with Colson, that youâve got a few events lined up in LA in the next few months. Heâs heading back to New York, has a film festival coming up, and some press to do for Mary Shelly, which was set to come out in June, and some travelling he wants to do.
âIf you see mum and dad, give them my love,â you tell him, and he promises he will. You donât get home much to see your family anymore; work keeps you much busier than youâd ever imagined.
The last few days on set feel like one long farewell, and itâs sad to see the few that still come in getting a little teary as they wrap.
âIâm gonna get absolutely blitzed, or Iâm gonna cry my eyes out,â Josy tells you over lunch on the final day, the two of you discussing the wrap party the following night. Though you chuckle, you canât help but know exactly how sheâs feeling.
Heart in your throat, you canât help but feel a little fragile as you get ready to go out to the afterparty. Colson, however, doesnât seem to share this mindset.
âYou look hot as fuck,â he announces, watching you apply your makeup in the bathroom mirror, already dressed for the night. Giving a sad little smile, you pause for a beat, and he joins you, rests his chin on your shoulder, âwhatâs up?â
âThis has just been... itâs been so much, itâs weird that itâs coming to an end.â
âThereâll be other projects -â he plants a kiss on your cheek, his arms coming to wrap around you.
âI know.â
âAnd other movies -â
âI know.â
âAnd you know this crew isnât just gonna forget about you, or each other -â
âIâm related to Doug,â you sigh, and Colson snorts, nodding, and he steps back, gives you space to turn and wrap your arms around him, though youâre still pouting, âbut what if you realise Iâm just... boring or something when we donât have a film keeping us together.â And you press your face, your nervous worry, against him.Â
âFirst of all, youâre not boring. I donât do boring girls,â he tells you flatly, âand between the two of us, weâll always be busy anyways, but it doesnât matter; how many times are we gonna have this conversation?â He asks with a slight frown, and you humph against him, âyou expecting me to kick you out? Just cut and run? No fucking way.â And thereâs an edge to his voice, something that stirs something deep inside of you. âAs far as Iâm aware, youâre mine, Ducky,â and a shiver actually runs down your spine.
âAll yours?â You hear yourself murmur, leaning back in his arms and letting your gaze flicking to his lips, which quirk into a smirk. âI like hearing you say that.â His grip tightens almost imperceptibly, but you feel it, can see his grin widen.
âHow late are we allowed to be do you think?â He asks, giving you a suggestive squeeze. After a beat, you lean into him, kissing him hard, letting the contentment wash across you as he hums appreciately against your lips before you pull back.
âYouâre the star, so as late as we want.â
âHello! Hello and welcome back my ducklings! Since so many of you asked, here is an update on how things have been between myself and my dear boyfriend since you last heard about us, which was quite a while ago. And also a get ready with me! Because itâs the premiere! Of our movie!âÂ
âSo I know since The Dirt stopped filming that I stopped sort of having Kells in my videos, and thatâs because weâd been so uber public in the beginning of our relationship that when we had time to just us, we wanted it to be... more personal, more private, you know. Which might seem weird, but itâs how we like it.â
âAs you all know, so much has been happening with us; weâve been living together basically since The Dirt finished filming, or as much as we can, since weâre both travelling so much. Iâve been making my way around conventions, as well as being a part of a few more films set to come out in the next few months, meanwhile my talented boyfriend has been writing a whole new fucking album, as well as filming Big Time Adolescence with Pete, but thatâs not coming out for a good long while.â
âYes! Yes Iâve met Pete Davidson, Iâm Pete-certified now, you can all calm down. Pete, Casie, and Rook have all approved me, do not stress, and Doug has approved of Kells - has always approved of him actually.â
âWe spent Thanksgiving with Casie and her mom which was really nice, and Iâll have photos of us - here -â and a photo of yourself, Colson, and Casie sitting around a dining room table flashed onto the screen, followed by a selfie of Colson with you and Casie asleep together on the sofa behind him.
âChristmas I had with mom, dad, and Doug back in England, while Kells stayed back to be with Casie, but donât worry, I flew back in time for him to be my New Yearâs kiss. Casie actually got me the cutest present; so back when The Dirt was filming, she came and hung out on set, and she got her makeup done by our team; she looked so cool! Anyways so she got a photo with me and Kells, him in full costume, me lookinâ a little bit like a potato next to those two, but itâs such a cute photo. And she got me a phone case with that photo printed on it. Iâve been using it ever since, I love it so much!â
âKellsâ birthday, as Iâm sure youâve all seen, was an absolutely wild rager, which Doug came to, even though it meant he saw me do some things that no older brother should ever see his sister do - get your mind out of the gutter! Nothing like that! I just made some questionable decisions that night is all. But my man had the night of his life, and I couldnât be prouder of him!â
âWeâve been travelling, and working, and just... itâs so good to have it all come full circle. Itâs good to be back with all the cast and crew; Iâve missed them all far more than I thought I would. And Kells has been talking non-stop about seeing them, heâs in the other room planning a pub crawl as we speak.â
âSo I suppose Iâm just trying to tell you that weâre doing good. Really good, actually, itâs been over a year but it definitely doesnât feel like it.â You pause, wearing a small, almost hopeful smile. âThis is gonna sound really stupid, but I never thought working the Motley Crue movie would lead to all this.â
âI think he might be the love of my life.â

How Nell Scovell survived male-dominated TV writers' rooms
New Post has been published on https://writingguideto.com/must-see/how-nell-scovell-survived-male-dominated-tv-writers-rooms/
How Nell Scovell survived male-dominated TV writers' rooms
She worked on everything from The Simpsons to Charmed and encountered casting couches, bigotry and bullying along the way
Nell Scovell has a lot to teach the next generation of TV writers: how to break the ice on a new set by cracking your dirtiest joke, how writing the episode of The Simpsons where Homer eats a deadly blowfish allowed her comedy to get serious, how she screwed up hiring on the first season of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and how to select used film studio furniture thats less likely to be covered in bodily fluids. (Answer: pick floral fabric, not leather.) Yes, the casting couch is real which, as Scovell writes in her new memoir Just the Funny Parts, is a cutesy name that sounds a lot better than rape sofa and yes, early in her career, the head writer of variety show The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour aggressively maneuvered her on one, commanding her not to muss his toupee.
Its a startling anecdote, and perfectly timed to todays #MeToo movement and our global conversation about women in the workplace, especially as Scovell also penned Rose McGowans first season on Charmed and co-wrote Sheryl Sandbergs bestseller Lean In. Im a little sad that they actually came up with the metaphor of waves for feminism, says Scovell on the phone from Los Angeles. By definition, a wave goes in and it comes out. I would really like it to be a tsunami that creates a flood that forever changes the landscape.
In the pages leading up to the violation, Scovell, the only woman writing for the Smothers Brothers, already loathes this misogynist who cut her out of meetings by hosting boys-only parties for the rest of the male staff. Their sole encounter is confusing, cold, unwanted and quick, and when its over, Scovell is fired. But even at the time, she was able to take control of the trauma by reframing the beats into a bleak joke, and when she recounts it today, Scovell gets to write the brutal punchline. She never saw that boss again, and probably never will, since I dont get to Branson, Missouri, much.

If women could sleep their way to the top, thered be a lot more women at the top, quotes Scovell. That one-liner belongs to Gloria Steinem funny women come in all forms. And comedy writers should come in all forms. The talents who inspired Scovell ranged from the maniacal Groucho Marx and absurdist Albert Brooks to dazzling Myrna Loy and deadpan Jane Curtin. Beams Scovell: I was pretty strait-laced, so Jane Curtin showed me you could be very professional and funny at the same time.
That her heroes were all also white is a struggle Scovell sees with clear eyes, critiquing herself sharply in the book for not hiring more comedians of color in the mid-90s when she became a showrunner. Later, while assembling another female-led show, Scovell catches herself worrying that the five female actors in the cast would get into on-set catfights a stereotype that couldnt have been more wrong. Sighs Scovell: Were all biased, were all raised in this culture.
You want a diverse writers room not because its the fair thing to do, or the right thing to do, but because its the best thing to do for your show, says Scovell. Ive seen that to be true.

Yet, for much of her TV career, shes been the only woman in the room. She used to twist her isolation into a compliment. Rarity meant she was exceptional. Later, she realized that she also just fit the mold as a white, straight, Ivy League-educated jock whod covered sports for the Harvard Crimson. Plus, as she writes, People say, Dress for the job you want, and since I wanted a job that guys had, I dressed like a guy.
Still, laughs Scovell, while her unathletic male friends grumbled about their agents dragging them to hockey games, she never got invited to a single match. Instead, she praises Penn Jillette for welcoming her to join a group adventure to an X-rated strip show.
Let someone make their own choice about what makes them feel comfortable, says Scovell. I always say, Im your colleague, not your wife you can say the craziest things in front of me. She was glad the California supreme court judged that certain types of crass jokes on the set of Friends did not qualify as sexual harassment.
We need appropriate behavior, but also not to think the way to get to that is by having no behavior at all, says Scovell. Otherwise, both men and women are locked into an unhealthy gender dynamic that eventually marginalizes women and comedy.

She saw that play out during the Bill Clinton scandal when men became self-conscious about being alone with women in the office. Shes seeing it again with Mike Pence and his dumb rule. And she lived it herself as a young late-night writer when she avoided speaking to David Letterman in fear her colleagues would think she was trying to flirt her way to becoming one of Daves Girls. Lettermans dalliances with employees were an open secret for decades after she quit and eventually resulted in the host being blackmailed and investigated for creating a hostile workplace environment, though the network ultimately concluded there was no wrongdoing. Of that power dynamic, Scovell calls Letterman the bully who makes you punch him. Later, when Lean In became a hit, she sent him a copy in Finnish with a teasing inscription that hed never read it anyway.
Since then, Scovell has gone on to write gags for everyone from Barack Obama (Johnny Carsons timing), Hillary Clinton (She does self-depreciation beautifully) and Mark Zuckerberg, the embattled Facebook CEO who could stand to win friends with a good quip. Does she have any he could use? Laughs Scovell, Im not touching that question! Like every entertainment career, public success has been matched by private setbacks rejected jokes, harsh script notes, canceled pilots and inJust the Funny Parts, she drags her flubs into the spotlight, printing a list of every project shes worked on so aspiring writers can see an honest percentage of hits to failures, along with full pages of sitcom drafts with her boss criticisms scribbled in the margins.
Her hurdles are oddly encouraging. So is her harshest piece of advice: dont follow your dreams, follow your talent. Thats like the meanest thing you could say to a high school student, says Scovell. But its true. Shes learned firsthand that sometimes a show works better when you pause the comedy and allow people to get real, citing what she calls the tuna fish sandwich moment on the Mary Tyler Moore Show when Mary and Rhoda would have a quiet beat to establish their friendship before the story hurtled them into chaos.
I think empathy is undervalued in a lot of these comedy writers rooms, says Scovell. And in the culture, too. In that spirit, she sent Letterman a copy of Just the Funny Parts in English. Im sure he has not read it, says Scovell. But he sent me back a lovely thank you note.
Just the Funny Parts is out now in the US and will be released in the UK on 3 May
