We know for a fact Izuku is a gamer since they asked All Might for a PSVita for Christmas. I think it’d be really funny if Tomura and Izuku were gaming buddies and just… did not know.
After the war Izuku asks Tomura to hop on Fortnite and the ghost of Tomura appears next to Izuku to be like “ hey about that- “ and Izuku is more upset about losing their Fortnite duo than losing their quirk.
“Can’t you just ask like Katsuki to play?”
“The last time I played overwatch with Kacchan he got so mad blasted a hole through his monitor and into Kirishimas room could you please just fucking possess a laptop so we can do our rank placements-“
“He’s probably not as good as me anyway”
“Tenko- he is trash at Candyland. You literally cannot be bad at that game and yet he just loses every time-“
“Yikes. He can’t be that bad-“
“He says his Xbox doesn’t have Uno”
“HE HAS UNO IT COMES WITH YOUR FUCKING XBOX-“

How about a gamer au? like an au where shigaraki and Izuku incidentally game on the same server, so for example shenanigans like Izuku kidnapping Shigaraki's pet sheep in Minecraft and holding it hostage until he gives Bakugou back could happen
I asked my brother a minecart question in an attempt to get info to answer this ask, he was confused, and so I showed him for context and apparently "guy holds Minecraft sheep hostage" is legit a thing one of the big smps did which. But also a BABY HOSTAGE???
1- um so Izuku, lonely child he is, turns to the internet to game and socialize. He enjoys Herocraft, which is like Minecraft but with hero product placement and uh you can activate certain quirks in villagers by giving them the right item, which will recruit them for you.
2- Izuku is very careful to not give out identifying information in public streams. Because he's a good kid who listened to the internet safety rules. There's another guy on the server who is just as cautious, though Izuku has no idea that HandHeldConsoul has a very different reason for him to do so.
3- the server in question is kind of set up for large group games, usually two teams against each other in a scavenger hunt, build quest, or more specific modded game. Izuku and HandHeldConsoul are usually on the opposite teams, but once there was a game about randomly drawn partnerships and they were a team who did pretty well for arguing half the time.
4- due to being so cautious, neither suspects each other's identity. Izuku mentioned a school entrance exam but Shigaraki assumed it was for college, thinking Izuku is younger than him but not by as much, and Izuku thinking Shigaraki is like ten, fifteen years older than he actually is to have the time to play when he does. This changes at the mall, when Izuku is trying to explain Stain to Shigaraki and uses a Herocraft metaphor - the same one that had been used in the server a few weeks back. Shigaraki is like "wait are you on that server?" Izuku is like "wait you are too?? WAIT DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE HANDHC" and Shigaraki threatens to kill him there if he doesn't say who he is- wait, no, of course he's SmallMight715. The two leave with a threat of mutually assured Herocraft violence preventing any real life such.
5- Izuku does not dox Shigaraki to the server, and vice versa, though Shigaraki does try to irritate Izuku even more than before now. The others wonder what's up with that but suspect nothing. Izuku just takes it without complaint or firing back, because he's planning something bigger. He didn't expect to have to use it so soon, but when Bakugou gets kidnapped Izuku activates the plan, which is half holding his Herocraft home, goods, and allies hostage and half threat to release info on him. The rest of the server is unaware of what's going on, the admins can't help him, and so Shigaraki angrily sends Bakugou back- an excuse to AfO that "he wasn't going to join anyway, but now the heroes will really distrust him"- and Izuku releases everything for now... Then starts preparing to keep his own things safe from Shigaraki's retribution.
#maybe the feud between brothers began on a minecraft server and maybe it's fitting it ends this way too idk#did sure get a lot of server lore given to me though uh. huh.#pocket talks to people#anon#ask game

Hi. I just got an idea for a gamer au. Not sure if you know but some fics play with the concept of game for Izu. "What if Izu has a quirk that allows him to see life as a literal game?"
My take: Izu has this quirk waken in him when he was 8 years old (bk is a PoS and calls him deku) now the difference here is how...the quirk does interact with Izu and people can see it. My main gripe with this trope is how ...no one ever touched how sus would for Izu to "obey" quirk that only talks to him and no one can see it.
So...in this au, the quirk has the form of a green bunny (of course!) And her first priority is to protect Izu and she acess the situation. Aldera is not the best place for him and Inko is not...a great parent.
She bestow Izu with a quirk, a beginer one. Izu can control the perception of light one see.
Everyone is jaw drop. Quirkless Izu is no longer quirkless! Then everyone move on. Bk continues to be a PoS (his issue is with Izu, not the fact he is QUIRKLESS)
Bunny level up with him saying Izu to open his others quirks needs more stats and time "but this one will do"
We see them bond ad Bunny is now the mom of Izu. Inko? She doesnt change much she is relieved her son has a quirk but never asks about the bruises he got.
Bunny second mission is to elevate Izu's self love. She even hears Izu's rambles on how to defeat BK. "Cold water will do" bunny is pleased.
Here the thing...foreshadow for Bunny being a lovecraftian THING. Smth even Dark Shadow is wary and cowering.
Izu's life changes...not bc he has a quirk but bc he has someone on his side.
Izu meets AM who is impressed at Izu (and confused at bk as why he is being so rude to Izu "he saved him...there's smth wrong here") and wants to give him ofa - bunny has talked about afo and how he is a joke among the gods, oh yeah in this the outer gods messed up humans 200 years ago and the results are quirks- and Izu declines. Bunny chews AM out and drops Nana's name.
AM is shocked.
Bunny:😒 do I look human to you?
Nana is also shocked. But curious. They all are curious.
UA invasion begins and Izu saves Aizawa from Shig...and starts to belittling him and Shig is not having it. "He saved you! Show some gratitude!" Bunny is scheming.
Aizawa is a PoS. Bk is not at ua but he tries to appeal, only Aizawa hears him. The staff hates him for that.
The mall date begins and...well, bunny is very pleased to see Shig did take him to a nice cafe while he is bitch talking about his boss and stain. See in this version Shig wants to kill afo and accepted the mission of invade ua bc he thought afo would share some potential weakness to him.
Izu:🤨my dude. Afo is a moron.
Shig:🙄tell me about it.
Is bunny plotting for Izu to take down afo? Maybe. She is a ride or die here. If Izu wants to conquer the world...she is on his side.
Bonus: people get a bit unnerved by bunny, especially if she just stare at you- is she seeing your soul? Your future? Your death?- but Shig is strangely cool with that.
Bunny is scheming.
Oh bonus 2
Ochako confessed to Izu - right the time he gets a big intership🤨- and tells how he is plain but she likes him anyway.
Izu...turns her down.
Ocha:😮
Izu:🤨you called me plain! I think you are plain too so maybe we shouldnt hang out
Ocha:😮
Mina:😮
Izu left
(Not to insinuante Ocha is a gold digger but I cant really see her a love interest nor his friend anymore. Kudos for those who can)
Bunny is scheming! Izu is plotting too.
Hi @mikeellee 👋,
I certainly don't remember seeing this trope done before for Izuku but it certainly sounds like an interesting concept. An Izuku that sees life as a game, very cool!
Also I love your green bunny guide for Izuku that even makes Dark Shadow wary. Ooo! Perhaps Izu and Tokoyami could have a close bond in this considering the other worldly nature of their quirks? I do like the explanation you gave for quirks in this AU too.
It's so sweet that Shig and Izu have a respect and fondness of each other in this version of events and that Aizawa gets called out and Bakugou never makes it into U.A lol.
I do like how in the Bonus 2 omake Izu shows respect for himself by calling out Ocha calling him plain but still asking him out. It's strange how Hori treated Ocha and Izu - she's meant to be his endgame love interest yet Hori gives their friendship hardly any focus, they don't spend time together much at all or are shown / referenced to speak to each other and has her do things like calling him "Deku" all the time and "plain" which undermine the ship.

For the gamer au: in online gaming, one huge pain in the ass are cheaters who use hacks. Would Izuku's quirk or his completion of quest be hindered by them?
Izuku can't really be hacked by anything. At most, I think a 'hack' would be like Shinsou. Or Aizawa. There was a Gamer fic I semi-liked but stopped reading because... i actually can't remember. Knowing me it was because I got sick of Bakugou being there every five seconds. But anyway: Izuku shut down and had 'glitches' due to Aizawa using his Quirk on him.
So... only in rare circumstances where someone has a Quirk that directly affects him will he be hindered.

A Fem!Izuku with Gamer!Quirk Kills All for One.
Major spoilers for my story: UI(It’s Pronounced Yui!) |Link|
Red sparks trail along her skin as her chains fall out of her skin, the twin black voids of her scelera seem to radiate more darkness even as the red of her irises glows stronger.
She huffs a laugh. “You, you really think my duties have to do with weighing down people with their own wrath? Using their anger against them?” She’s grinning madly now, a cackle escapes her lips, the amount of anger concentrated around this horrible man giving her a small high. “No.”
She reaches down and cups the side of his cheek, her blood red eyes emotionless and dead. “My job, my duties, have to do with releasing people from their wrath. I take the chains that make up wrath in hand, and bear that burden so others may finally find their peace.” She takes a deep breath, unknown to the man feeling every ounce of fear he has ever made others feel.
“The only reason I punish any soul at all, is if they caused massive amounts of wrathful souls. And well,” she chuckles. “You’ve caused many… Many souls to be unable to find peace. Hell, I’m pretty sure after I’m done with you, my nose is gonna be defective for a few days.” She says, lightly smiling. “Now, I don’t normally get permission for what I’m about to do, but I confirmed it with Grim a few days ago, so…”
She snaps her fingers and several hundred spirits start rising from the ground. “Welcome to Hell on Earth, Hisashi Akatani, All For One.” A number of voices say this, getting especially distorted when she says his name. Several different names getting screamed out in rage over her supernaturally cold and calm one.
She looks to the small, pale haired boy with red eyes… The first of the spirits she’s met with a vendetta against the man in front of her.
He’s looking enraged just seeing the faceless man in front of him, so she walks over and places a hand on his shoulder. “I told you I’d come get you when it was time.” She gestures to the chained up form of All For One in front of her. “Well… It’s time. Let it all out, hold nothing back. Then return to yourself and help me when it’s time to calm you down.”
She lets him move forward and red sparks trail around her as she starts floating. She looks at them all. Seven hundred spirits that clung to the side of the living to get the chance to receive rightful vengeance against All For One.
According to Grim there’s many more on the side of the dead that decided not to let go of their wrath but crossed over anyways, still waiting on the side of the dead to finally drag the soul of All For One to his rightful place, then possibly gain vengeance for themselves, or leave that to the demons.
“There are many forms of wrath. Your job isn’t just to get spirits to let go of it, it’s to convince them to go over to the land of the dead. Your specialty is just dealing with the ones clinging to wrath. There are many ways to deal with wrathful spirits. Getting them to let go or giving them their vengeance are just two methods. Some can be convinced to cross over for the chance to gain their vengeance from the land of the dead. That’s how we get Demons from Christian myth or Furies from Greek myth. The torturers of those deserving are common upon your domain.” Grim shrugged.
“There are some spirits that can also be convinced to partially cross over for the chance to come back and get their vengeance upon your bidding. That’s what ‘Army of Wrath is. But you must always remember. You are not a demon. It is the opposite of your duty to torture people for their Wrath. If a wrathful person is punished using your abilities, it is because they made a different spirit wrathful, not because they themselves are.”
“… How do I tell the difference?”
“One way is the chains. Surely you already noticed that they just look like normal chains, right?”
Izumi nodded.
“Well, when you’re near a spirit in need of guidance, they turn pitch black. But when you are near the person or origin of a spirit you’ve helped’s wrath, they turn pitch black and start emitting red sparks. When they are inside you it shows as the tattoos getting darker with red lines chaining between them. Your eyes can only see the spirits of your domain, too. They can also see the wrath sticking to whatever it originated. The saddest part of our job, however… is those that can’t make it.”
Izumi tilted her head, and Grim continued.
“Some spirits… they burn themselves out. The reason I’m so desperate to get them all over to the land of the dead is because when a spirit doesn’t, after a long time, or a short time, they’ll completely burn off. Their souls just… disappearing from existence. No cycle of reincarnation, no afterlife. Just. Oblivion.” Grim had a really sullen expression, and the embers that make up her robe, once lively, dimmed considerably upon mentioning those souls.
Izumi shakes her head out of her reminiscing. She talks to the army of spirits. “You all know exactly what I want you to do. Let the kids go first please. They have less energy to keep going.” A few people groan, but as the kids all come to the forefront… Izumi gets angrier at the reminder of just how callously this man had killed.
“Tenko, my cousin. Go ahead.” She smiles sadly at the seething boy.
The angry child walks up to the faceless man. He snarls. “You… You will now know the pain, and the suffering of being torn apart atom by atom, but without being able to die. For that’s what I experience every day of this miserable existence.” His voice distorts heavily around some words.
The faceless man tries to put back on his veneer of confidence, but the boy’s hand reaches out, and wraps around his throat. His red eyes glowing with the rage he’s always felt.
The telltale sign of ‘Decay’, a quirk that the boy wasn’t even born with, starts up. The man bleeds, and even that turns to dust. Eventually, his entire body cracks apart and falls in a dust cloud.
Red sparks trail around the dusty remains, then the man once again rises from it.
“Wh… What?” He asks, the chain that was blocking his ability to speak earlier quickly whips out and stabs him again.
Tenko smiles softly, his soul finally becoming restful. Izumi speaks. “He did say you can’t die. While hell on earth is in effect, you will constantly be revived as the spirits of those you caused to become wrathful kill you… over and over and over again. And once it’s over, you get to experience this for the rest of eternity. In hell.”
“Tha’ts n’ Lvin” He tries to say and Izumi snorts.
“No, but it is Dying.” Izumi says, her cold tone still in effect despite her laughter.

The Gamer Hero, Deku Chapter 30
A/N: I initially forgot that the HP-related stat in The Gamer was VIT and not CON when I first started writing this chapter because I had DnD on the brain. How embarrassing would it have been if I hadn't caught that?
xoxoxo
I looked at my newest text boxes as Aizawa-sensei talked.
Through repeated meditation, your VIT has increased by one!
By raising VIT above 100, two random skills have been created!
The skill 'Healing Grace' has been created through VIT rising above 100 and having a healing skill with a level of 95 or higher!
The skill 'Immovable Object' has been created through VIT rising above 100!
The skill 'Purity of Body' has been created through VIT rising above 100!
Through repeated meditation, your STR has increased by one!
I'd actually got them on the way to school so I could go to my work study, which was pretty lucky. My VIT had been pretty close to the hundred-point benchmark after that ridiculous +15 to all stats, so naturally I'd had my Mantra set to level it up for the past few days. And now that I had the skills, I'd probably be trying to get my STR up. It wasn't as high as VIT was, but it still wasn't that far off so I'd set Mantra to level it unless I was Meditating, when I would switch Mantra to something else and use Meditation for STR. Mantra's benefits had improved slightly as it leveled up, so it might even happen within the month!
I closed the text boxes after I was done reading what the skills did. Purity of Body was the standard improved version of the previous benchmark's skill, nothing much to comment on there other than the fact that it probably synergized well with Damage Reduction because it improved my HP. Immovable Object was... I suppose it was good and I could definitely find uses for it, but it looked a little unwieldy, too... It was a powerful barrier spell, but the barrier got a lot of its strength from being rooted, completely immobile. Even after turning the skill off the barrier would take a few moments to dissolve, leaving me immobile unless I could brute force my way through it... which I could probably do if I wanted, but not without using up more MP. At the very least I was already halfway through puzzling out how to use Item Enchantment to combine it with Imaginary Architect, which would give it a lot more versatility (though I doubted I'd get much EXP if at all for it if I only used an enchantment derived from it...). The barrier would be immobile even in midair, though it thankfully made me immobile relative to Earth and not truly immobile so I wouldn't fly off every time I used it.
I noticed, though, that it reminded me of Illusion Barrier in a way. I couldn't tell too well without actually using the skill, but it felt like it drew on the same underlying dimensional... thing... that Illusion Barrier tapped into, though in a different manner. Instead of creating another layer of reality using its fabric, it seemed like the barrier would gain extra stability by being rooted to it. Though maybe 'rooted' might not have been the right word for it...
The best skill, though, was Healing Grace. In addition to increasing the rate at which my HP naturally regenerated, it also enhanced the effects of any skill I had that was even remotely related to healing. That was amazing, especially with how my current objective (even if I hadn't gotten a quest for it) was to heal Iida's brother. And that wasn't all Healing Grace enhanced. Regeneration, Meditation, and Mantra also healed for more now, though it seemed that Super Regeneration, being a Quirk and not a skill, didn't have the same benefits. It didn't seem to do anything for the MP regeneration effects on Meditate and Mantra, and while I couldn't check it as easily I assumed the same could be said for the rate at which it trained my stats. Not that I cared that much, it was already good. And that wasn't even mentioning its active effect, which let me sacrifice HP to further increase how effective my healing skills were at healing others. HP that it caused me to regenerate at an increased rate. I would have to be careful with it, but just skimming a bit off the top of my very large HP bar to improve my healing and level up Healing Grace faster seemed like a good idea.
Okay maybe I was overhyping Healing Grace just a little, but it looked pretty good. Plus the fact that it modified Mantra meant that it was passively gaining EXP with Mantra, even if it was only a little.
"Remember, you're not allowed to wear your hero costumes in public without express permission from a hero you're studying under," Aizawa reminded us. We were waiting for our transportation at a train station, and Aizawa-sensei was using it as an opportunity to give us some reminders. "And make sure you keep track of them, don't just leave them lying around." He glared at me. "Speaking of... Midoriya, you're the only person here without a costume case. Where is it?"
"I have it in my inventory, sir," I told him. "I figured that since I would only be allowed to take it out when I'm allowed to use my Quirk anyway, I might as well make it easier on myself."
"I suppose that's fine, then. And everyone, remember to mind your manners. Now go, your transportation should be here soon."
"Yes, sir!" everyone said before we went our separate ways. I noticed Iida walking away alone, so I walked towards him.
"Iida!" I said. He stopped. Kacchan and Uraraka walked up behind me. "Just remember," I said. "If you ever feel overwhelmed, you can talk to me."
"Me too!" Uraraka added.
"Again, I'm probably not the best person to talk to, but I'll totally listen if you want," Kacchan said.
I smiled. "We're friends, okay?"
He slowly turned around. "Of course." With that, he resumed walking to his train. I followed him. "What are you doing, Midoriya?" he asked.
"Sorry, I think my train is this way too."
He glared at me. "Did you plan this?"
I raised my hands in defense. "I swear I didn't! My train is just this way."
"I suppose so."
"Good luck on your work study, though," I said. "And be safe."
He nodded. "You too, Midoriya."
xoxoxo
I stared at the little map that Yagi-sensei had given me, comparing it with my minimap as I walked down the street. "So this Gran Torino guy even made Yagi-sensei nervous... I wonder what he's like."
"I can't say what he's like now, but when I knew him he was nice, though very... severe," Shimura told me.
"So like Yagi-sensei's version of Aizawa-sensei?" I asked.
She made a noise a bit like a verbal shrug. "Kind of, but not exactly."
"Well I can't wait to see him."
"Speaking of, why did you choose to go here?" Honenuki asked me. "You have us, so it's not like you really need his instruction on how to properly use One For All. No offense to him, of course."
I shrugged. "Yagi-sensei said that he was heavily DEX-based, and I've been meaning to work on my mobility anyway. Plus I didn't want to just brush him off, if he knows about One For All and All For One." I paused. "Hang on, were they just the two halves of that saying? Why did I not notice that before?"
"That was the last time my brother and I agreed, actually," Ichigo explained. "A few years after he forced Power Stockpile on me, we had a confrontation. He had continued to use his Quirk, called Power Theft then, for his own selfish gain, while I had just found out I could give my Quirk to someone else." He chuckled wryly. "We actually used One For All and All For One as a bit of a shared catchphrase when we were kids, so we agreed to split it in half, as it were."
"That's... kinda poetic, actually. Thank you for telling me." I stopped, seeing that I was in the right place. I looked up from the note. "Huh. This... is the right place, right?"
The place was... this might sound bad, but it looked a little run-down. Yagi-sensei mentioned that this Torino guy had come out of retirement to teach me, so it was probably just that the building was old. The doors looked fine, though, so I hoped that it was just that the outside that was worse for wear. I knocked on the door, waiting to be let in.
A few minutes passed, so I knocked again. And again I was met with silence. "Excuse me," I said loudly. "I'm here for an internship?" There was definitely someone there on my minimap. I asked my elementals, and they told me the person was just... laying there, covered in ketchup and sausage links. "I'm coming in, excuse me!" I decided, then opened the unlocked door. If I didn't know the old man was alive and the things under him were ketchup and sausages, I probably would've thought he was dead. It didn't help that the lights were off and there was a shattered plate on the floor.
Get Off My Lawn
LV 92
Torino Sorahiko
Though I was pretty sure the dead didn't have titles. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked.
His head shot up. "I'm alive!" he shouted.
"Yeah, do you need help cleaning up? You appear to be covered in ketchup." I didn't want to assume it was a test or prank, in case he actually did slip while carrying a plate of ketchup-covered sausages. "If you'll allow it, I have water magic and can summon paper towels with my Quirk."
"Oh, thank you, young man!" He got up shakily, leaning heavily on his cane. He was definitely wearing a hero outfit, regardless of his current state. I didn't think anyone would wear a yellow cape and a domino mask casually, at least. "Who are you?"
I pulled some paper towels out of my inventory. "I'm Midoriya Izuku, from Yuuei. I'm here for a work study?"
He took the paper towels and started wiping himself off. "Oh. Who are you?"
"Midoriya Izuku."
He smiled at me. "Toshinori?"
That was Yagi-sensei's name, so I guess he knew I had One For All, at least... "Um, any help, guys?" I asked the past bearers.
"Maybe try reading his mind?" Hikiishi suggested. "You can do that, right?"
"Sora, why?" Shimura sighed.
"Where's your costume?" the old man asked once he finished wiping himself off. His bearing had shifted, and he looked a lot more serious. He wasn't shaking anymore. "Put that on and fire One For All off at me."
I opened my inventory and dragged the costume case over to my equipment screen. Just like I'd hoped, it autoequipped my costume for me, and it even put on a little button that looked like it would let me autodequip my costume and pack it back up for me (hopefully returning my original clothes with it). I'd have to check if it actually did that, but it was cool nonetheless. My hero costume appeared on my body with a rush of air. I stretched, checking the changes to the outfit. It looked mostly the same, but I could already feel that it was easier to move around in than my old costume.
"How'd you do that?" Torino asked.
"Did you get any information about my Quirk?" I asked him.
"It's called The Gamer and it gives you powers like a video game character, specifically an RPG."
I nodded. "I have an inventory power, which is what I used to get those paper towels for you. It also has an equipment menu, and I just equipped my hero costume."
"That makes sense, I suppose." He got into a fighting stance. "Now hit me with your best shot. One For All only."
"Um... Can I do something first? If I throw a blast of One For All, it'll probably cause property damage."
"What is it?"
"I have a spell that... It's a little hard to explain but basically I can use it to let us do as destructive training we want without worrying about property damage, by basically putting us in a temporary pocket dimension."
He nodded. "Do that, then."
I placed my hand on his shoulder and dragged us both into an Illusion Barrier. Then I turned around and punched at the door. "LIMIT BREAK!" I shouted as the blastwave wrecked most of that wall, as well as the street and the building on the other side. "I am very glad I used Illusion Barrier," I said as I shook off my hand. It didn't hurt too bad, but after using One For All at 100% it was a little tingly.
"Well there's your problem, kid," Torino said. "Well, I can see another thing that you should be mindful of, too, but you've got one main problem. I know a bit about video games, you know. Watched a few YouTube videos on some RPGs when I decided to take you on, too. Plus I watched your performance in the sports festival as well. You're thinking about One For All like a limited resource or a super meter to draw on when you need a big attack, but that ain't just what it is. Think about how Toshinori uses One For All, I'm sure you've seen him use it before."
I nodded and put some ideas about what he meant in the text chat for the past bearers to give their thoughts on. "I think I get what you're suggesting."
"Good." To my surprise he jumped around the rest of the room, zooming between the floor, three remaining walls, and even ceiling. He landed on a nearby table, breaking it, and grinned at me. "You wanna put it into practice?" He pulled out a stopwatch. "You have three minutes to land a single hit on me, using only One For All. Starting now." He clicked it and started jumping around again. He was using his Quirk, Jet, which let him shoot powerful jets of air from the bottoms of his feet. He darted in for a punch, and I dodged backwards, tapping into One For All. Really, it was so obvious that I would've hit myself if I had time. It was basically what I did for Elemental Aura already, just using One For All instead of elemental magic. I felt a feeling like lightning running all over my body as I jumped. I sailed clear out the hole that was the broken fourth wall, still keeping my eyes on him.
He bounced a few more times before shooting straight at me. I stood my ground, concentrating more One For All in my arm. When he was close enough that I was hoping he couldn't dodge the attack, I punched in his direction. It was a textbook Texas Smash, sending a powerful shockwave in Gran Torino's direction, but he managed to dodge to the side with his Quirk. He shot at me again, but I dodged out of the way first. "I see what you did," he noted. "You saw me bouncing around the room with blinding speed and decided to get me out in the open, where maybe I'd be a bit slower." He grinned. "Changing the environment to your advantage or your opponent's disadvantage. Good. Just remember that it might not always work. After all, you're the one on a time-"
I didn't let him finish that, trying to blindside him by charging at him while he was still monologuing. He still managed to shoot upwards before I hit him, but I had anticipated that and used Weird Flex (that might have been cheating slightly, but it was less of a magical or Quirk-related skill and more of a literal skill that just happened to get enhanced by The Gamer, like Sword Mastery) to pivot so that I could push off the ground with my hands. The ground cracked with the force that I used pushing off of it, and I shot into Gran Torino foot-first. He grunted, stunned, and I punched off the air a few times to get on the opposite side of him so I could catch him before we hit the ground.
Your level has increased by one!
I was already pretty close to a level up before that fight, so even though it wasn't much of a fight the EXP was still enough to level me up.
"Sorry if that was a little too hard," I said when we landed, then pulled out my Quirk healer license. "I can heal you, if you're hurt."
He grunted, got up, and rubbed his stomach. "Thanks, kid." He chuckled. "You really showed a lot of promise there, kid," he said as I healed him. "It only took me a little prodding to correct how you use your Quirk."
I smiled. "Yeah, and we didn't even touch on my other Quirks."
He raised his eyebrow. "'Other Quirks?' Plural?"
"Sorry, did Yagi-sensei not mention that?" I asked. I raised my hand, switching Skeletal in. Oof, my costume wasn't looking too good after that giant blast... I was already going to use Mending after my demonstration, but still... I tensed my arm, activating Skeletal. White armor calcified along my hand and forearm, forming something like a gauntlet that destroyed the remains of that sleeve and glove. "The Gamer evolved the ability to copy Quirks during the sports festival. I got the Quirks of the past bearers, as well as a few others, as quest rewards from a quest related to the sports festival." I deactivated Skeletal, causing the bone armor to retract back into my skin, and fixed my costume with Mending.
"Well, practice with those new Quirks of yours for now." His demeanor lightened. "I'm gonna go get us some food!" He walked away.
"Um... Let's go inside first so I can drop the Illusion Barrier first?" I suggested. "I don't think I'm allowed to just drop us out of a pocket dimension in the middle of the street."
He looked at the carnage we'd made, then around at the lack of people on the street, and chuckled. "That sounds about right. No use scaring the civilians." We walked back inside. "Who are you, again?"
I broke the barrier. "Midoriya. Should I just practice with my Quirks and magic until you're back?"
"Sure. But who are you, though?"
I sighed. "Just go, please."
"Goodbye, Toshinori!" He said with a smile as he walked out the door.
"Goodbye," I said. The second the door closed I activated another Illusion Barrier, leaving my elementals on the other side so I would know when he came back. I'd recently gotten a new setting for Illusion Barrier, but I decided against using it quite yet and just made another skeleton barrier. "Practice with my Quirks. Got it." I activated One For All again, getting that electrical feeling again. It reminded me of using Lightning Aura, actually. Which made sense, given how close what I was doing was to Elemental Aura.
That gave me an idea, but first...
I jumped, putting all of my strength into it. I immediately regretted that, as using One For All's full power to jump seemed like it was slightly overkill seeing how high I flew. Luckily I had I Burn on, so I'd absorbed all the energy from how hard I hit the ceiling, an impact hard enough that I lost some HP from it even with my Physical Endurance and Damage Reduction. And then I absorbed the negligible amount of energy I got from punching through a cloud a moment later. Speaking of which, I looked at the building...s I just destroyed from the giant hole in the cloud I was above. It was so far away that even with Hawkeye I could just barely see the largest chunks. I didn't actually expect it to work, so I was pleasantly surprised when I felt them when I reached out with Singularity. "The range it has is ridiculous, if it can do that," I muttered. I yanked, pulling those chunks upwards. "It doesn't even feel like I'm straining it..." I did notice my regeneration dropping a few points as I pulled the chunks up to me, but it was amazing how much power I got out of Singularity.
I turned off Singularity as I dropped below the cloud headfirst, switching to grabbing the chunks that had just flown past me and into the clouds with Blackwhip. I made a barrier enchanted with Immovable Object above my feet and braced on it to stop the building chunks. I strained at their momentum for a second, then jumped with half the power I had used before once the pull from the chunks abated. As I hurtled downwards I looked around the town I was above. I saw a few important landmarks: a tower, a square with a fountain, an important-looking building that could've been town hall, and the train station I'd arrived at. I double-checked that I was still in the Illusion Barrier, because this would be really bad otherwise...
I raised the amount of One For All I was using and swung my hands, trying to hit the four targets with the building pieces I was carrying with Blackwhip. My aim was a little off, but considering the fact that I was throwing around giant chunks of rubble I was fine with the result. Plus, they had all ended up crushing some skeletons that had spawned. I'd read in an article of tips for heroes Yagi-sensei had shared in one of his classes that in general a hero should try to not throw stuff at people if they can avoid it because they can typically hit harder than whatever they can pick up and it lowers property damage in general, so while that was fun I wasn't planning on making a habit of throwing buildings at people.
I let myself fall after that. I'd lost some of my momentum when I'd thrown the buildings, but I was still coming in fast. I could probably just use Float to stop falling, but I decided to try to tank the landing instead. It'd be great for I Burn, for one. I switched in Skeletal, giving myself some extra armor over the areas that I'd be landing on, and used Earth Aura to provide some shock absorption. I landed in a textbook three-point landing in the middle of a throng of skeletons, triggering an OFA-overpowered Earth Burst as I did that basically caused a miniature earthquake.
"Ow," I said despite the fact that it only took off a small bit of health that I gained back almost immediately. "Deadpool was right, those are hard on the knees..." I got up, turning Skeletal off and Mending my shredded costume again. I was standing in the middle of a crater with giant cracks radiating from it. I noticed dust pouring into one of the cracks. "Hello," I said as the skeletal samurai spawned. "It's nice to see you again." I could've probably just flicked it to death with One For All, but I decided against that.
The skeleton charged and swung at me, but I blocked it with Skeletal armor. I trapped the sword as I glanced off my armor by forming spikes of bone around it, then switched in Magnetize without switching Skeletal, Copy, or I Burn out. I could feel that the efficiency dropped when I used Magnetize on the sword, but not as much as the last time I tried it. After Magnetizing the sword, I slapped the skeleton's armor, giving it a dose of Magnetize too, and pressed the sword to it. I snickered when the skeleton tried futilely to pry the sword off of its armor, even though Magnetize wasn't as strong as it could've been.
It glared at me, despite not having any eyebrows. I somehow got the message that it wanted me to take our fight seriously.
"Okay, sorry." I put the palm of my hand up to its chest. "I'll take this seriously now." I switched out Magnetize and Copy for Explosion. I had an idea I wanted to test, so I created a hole in the bone armor on my palm for Explosion to work. I gave my hand a bit more One For All than the rest of my body and triggered a blast. I was forced to take a step back from the recoil as an explosion like a shaped charge blasted a hole through the skeleton's armor. It was armor-piercing, sure, but just like when I tried chopping bits off of the other skeletal samurai it only shaved off some HP.
"I guess sometimes finesse just doesn't compare to brute force," I muttered. True, I could've taken it down with hits like that, but it would take way longer than just encasing it in ice with Half-Cold Half-Hot and throwing it into a building with Blackwhip, which I did. This time the skeleton didn't drop anything, which hopefully wasn't because I encased it in ice before killing it.
I got a message from my elementals that Gran Torino came back, so I went back to his house in about a second using Sonic Embodiment. I placed myself about where I thought the floor was before I turned it into a crater, then dropped my Illusion Barrier. Thankfully, dropping out of Illusion Barrier in a position where something was there in the real world didn't do damage to anything and just caused the two objects to move if possible until they weren't inside each other, so even though my aim was off and my feet were clipping through the floor I just shot up until I was standing.
"Ah!" Gran Torino, who was carrying some grocery bags, shouted when I appeared out of nowhere. "...Who are you, again?"
"Sorry for startling you, Torino-sensei," I said. "I decided to train in my Illusion Barrier, which was a good call because the first thing I did wrecked this building."
"That's nice, whoever you are." He yawned. "I'm tired. I think I'm gonna go to bed after I put these away."
"Oh, I thought you'd want to spar some more..." I said.
He handed me a bag full of packages of frozen taiyaki. "That's nice, kid. Wanna help me put away the groceries?"
"...Did you only buy taiyaki?" I asked. Observe told me the other grocery bags only had taiyaki in them, too... It was a good thing The Gamer meant I didn't need to eat, I guess...
"Don't be silly, Toshinori!" he said with a goofy grin, then produced a lollipop. "I got this for you, young man!"
I took the lollipop. "Thanks, I guess..." I put it in my mouth. It was green apple, not my favorite flavor but at the same time it wasn't my least favorite flavor. He probably picked it because of my hair... I checked the fridge when I put the taiyaki in the freezer. He had a wide variety of food, a lot of it healthy but also a lot of sweets, too. I guess he just really felt like getting taiyaki. I felt his gaze on me while I checked the fridge. Maybe he was testing me by showing fake signs that he was senile?
"Good night," I told him when we were done putting the taiyaki in the freezer. "I think I'll train a bit more before I turn in for the night. I'll try not to stay up too late, though." That was kind of a lie, but one could argue that because The Gamer made it so I didn't have to sleep I technically couldn't stay up to late...
"Good night, Toshinori," he said with a grin.
xoxoxo
A/N: So yeah Midoriya already has experience enhancing his entire body at once with magical energies, so I figured we could skip the whole "I'm a taiyaki" bit and get straight to the Full Cowl with only some light scolding to jumpstart him.
Elemental list: Midoriya: Halitus, Dune, Rayne, Blaise, Juniper, Mifuyu, Raimon, Iggy, Sonia, and Claude Bakugou: Pyra and Leaf Tokoyami: Corvo Uraraka: Nebula and Ion Hagakure: Lucy Tsu: Bubbles Aizawa: Charlie and Cassiopeia All Might: Seth O'Scope

All the world’s a game
And Izuku’s the main player. A My Hero Academia AU where Izuku has a gamer quirk.
-
Izuku Midoriya’s abilities started developing when he was three years old, marking him as one of the eighty percent majority that had a quirk. They didn’t give any sign that they’d started, of course; no small objects flying towards him, no fire hiccoughing out when he sneezed. Nothing obvious at all in fact, but quietly behind the scenes, his quirk developed.
“An invisible quirk,” the doctors called it, a year later, when Izuku’s x-rays came back free of extra toe joints. “It’s possible it has an obscure activation criteria, or an effect which hasn’t been noticed yet.” This particular doctor pulled a rusty but at least somewhat sincerely sympathetic face at Izuku and cautioned him, “You may never find out what your quirk is, I’m afraid.” He laughed, then added as though he couldn’t resist the pun, “Invisible quirks can be very hard to see.”
“Shows what he knows,” Kacchan scoffed when Izuku faithfully relayed the explanation. “If you were invisible you’d be impossible to see. Stupid old man.”
“I don’t think that’s what he meant,” Izuku said, pushing himself into a jog to keep up with the taller boy. He ran, as he always did, for precisely seven seconds, then walked for four, then ran for seven, then walked, and so on.
“Keep up,” Kacchan yelled from several paces ahead.
Izuku ran for another seven seconds at top speed before his feet slowed stubbornly to a four second walk.
-
“Maybe,” he theorised to Kacchan several months later, “maybe it’s a brain quirk.”
Kacchan wrinkled his nose. “What, like a super nerd? That’s lame.”
“Izuku’s super smart thought,” Tsubasa said thoughtfully from his other side. “He’s really good at homework.”
“That’s even lamer. How is homework going to help him be a hero?”
“I don’t think it’s homework.” Izuku frowned, trying to find the words to explain something he wasn’t even sure existed. “It’s like… I always know where I am if I’ve been somewhere, but I have to actually think about it first. And I don’t know how I know but I do, you know?”
“Oh, that’s a quirk?” Tsubasa asked, wings shifting in excitement. “I do that too! I thought I just recognised places. You think I have two quirks?”
“Yes, I mean, no, but - as in, I think I have a map? In my head? Of where I am now and where I’ve been before. But a moving map, not a paper one. And I fill it in when I go places.”
“A map?” Tsubasa’s wings drooped. “Oh. I can’t read maps. They don’t make sense.”
“Maps aren’t quirks and you’re both idiots,” Kacchan said. He pushed himself off from the wall and landed with a harsh thud on the ground, palms sparking with just enough force to slow his descent, and Tsubasa and Izuku scrambled to follow. Tsubasa opened his wings into a controlled fall with a graceless but effective flap, while Izuku turned around and began the lengthy process of climbing down hand over hand.
“Slow,” Kacchan complained. The fact that he couldn’t scale the same wall didn’t seem to occur to him, nor the fact that it was a smooth stone, entirely lacking in footholds or anything to grip.
“Sorry,” Izuku said, dropping the last step and waiting the required four seconds before he was ready to run. He was up to eleven seconds now before he needed a rest, but climbing was harder - he could manage six, and never on glass, under an overhang, or in the rain. Six seconds of going vertically up pretty much any non-smooth surface, but then his arms and legs would seize up and he’d go tumbling to the floor until his required four seconds of rest were up.
(He’d learnt the hard way.)
-
“I’m hungry,” Izuku explained again.
“You want to be hungry and in trouble? Move, Deku!”
“Kacchan,” Izuku said, voice wobbling dangerously close to tears, “I’m hungry. I can’t run. It doesn’t work.” And, because Kacchan still looked mutinous, he sniffed and added: “It’s part of my quirk.”
Kacchan threw his hands up with far too much exasperation for any six year old to reasonably feel, then settled the issue by dragging Izuku into an uncomfortable piggy back. “Anything else I should know about you being hungry?” he asked, jabbing an elbow into Izuku’s side to make him stop squirming.
“Um. If I’m hungry for too long I get sick?”
“Your quirk is the most useless thing ever, I swear.”
-
“Here,” Katsuki said, roughly shoving a packet of crisps, a juice box and an apple into Izuku’s bag. He knew better than to give them to Izuku to hold directly; he had two hands, and therefore could hold two things, and if given any more to hold had a bad habit of dropping them on the floor like an idiot.
Because he was. An idiot. One who couldn’t be trusted to take care of himself, which is why Katsuki was feeding him, so he wouldn’t go hungry and stop running again.
“Ah, Kacchan - wait -” And the second Katsuki let go of the last item, Izuku staggered to a halt and sat down hard.
“Deku,” he growled. “What.”
“It can only hold ten things! You put too many in there and now it’s full.” Izuku shrugged himself out of the straps and tugged forlornly on the top handle, but the backpack stayed resolutely on the floor as though Katsuki had tipped lead bricks into it instead of food.
Tsubasa took the opportunity to lean over and peer inside the bag. “There’s still space,” he said helpfully. “It’s only half full.”
“And anyway! I’ve seen you carrying things for Auntie, there’s no way you can’t lift that!” Katsuki had seen Izuku casually lift a table to move it around the living room. For a scrawny mess of big eyes and freckles, Izuku was sometimes freakishly strong.
The scrawny mess in question heaved at the drooping school bag, twig-muscles standing out on twig-arms as he failed to make it budge. “They weren’t eleven things, Kacchan! Quirk says ten max!”
“Your quirk is a pain. Tsubasa, carry Deku’s bag.”
“‘Kay,” the other boy said, lifting the backpack up with the tip of an outstretched wing. “Have you got any more juice boxes? I finished mine.”
“You can have mine,” Izuku offered. “Then I’ll be able to carry it again.”
Katsuki knocked Tsubasa’s hand away. “No,” he said. “It’s for Deku when he’s hungry. I’ll get you one after class.”
“‘Kay.”
-
“Ten things,” Kacchan said later. Izuku turned towards him warily; he recognised the tone of voice. Kacchan was planning.
Kacchan’s plans only sometimes went right for others involved, but it was never a good idea to try and back out. Wariness was about the best Izuku could manage.
“Any ten things?”
“Um,” Izuku said. “I think so? I tested some of it, and it’s definitely ten. But if they’re in something they only count as one.” He got a somewhat blank look, so pulled his bag towards him to explain. “Like, here. My pencil case. It’s got ten pencils in it, right? But it’s only one thing because it’s a pencil case, so it counts as one. Even though it’s actually ten. Or, well, ten pencils plus one case so eleven. It’s eleven, but it goes in my bag as one thing.”
Kacchan turned the case over in his hands. “Huh,” he said, squinting at Izuku. “Could you put a hundred pencils in ten cases and put those ten in one big case and put that in your bag?”
“Yeah, I think so! So long as they fit. I did some testing when I discovered it, I think I have the notebook somewhere -”
“Nerd,” Kacchan interrupted with a roll of his eyes. “I believe you, I don’t need your diary.” He snapped the pencil case shut and handed it back - then doubled over laughing when it slammed Izuku’s hands to the floor as soon as he took it.
“Ow - Kacchan! What did you - you added something to it!”
“A sticker,” Kacchan wheezed. “I put a sticker in it and you actually can’t - oh my god Deku your quirk - a freakin’ sticker -”
“Ten of anything, Kacchan! Only ten!”
Anything, it turned out, really meant anything. The backpack wasn’t big enough for Kacchan’s liking so they retrieved Izuku’s mum’s suitcase from under her bed and filled it with the heaviest things in the house, including, at one point, Kacchan himself. Ten items or less, Izuku lifted it no problem. Add the sticker as an eleventh, and it crashed to the ground.
That part wasn’t so bad, but Izuku had two hands as well, and each hand could hold one of any item. Including Kacchan. And the sofa. But add the sticker, and, well, that’s how Izuku’s arm broke.
“Shit,” Kacchan swore, staring at it white-faced. In any other circumstances Izuku would’ve protested at the language, but he could be forgiven for being distracted.
“It’s going backwards,” he said with a morbid fascination that was probably the only thing keeping the pain at bay.
“Don’t touch it!” Kacchan slapped his good hand away. “And don’t tell Aunty! It’s not hurt that bad. I’ll get you a chocolate bar tomorrow if you stay upstairs and I’ll tell Aunty you’re sick and don’t say anything.”
“But it needs a plaster - ow!”
Izuku’s eyes filled with tears and Kacchan dropped his arm as though burned, eyes wide. “I’m sorry, don’t cry,” he flapped. “I’ll get a plaster, you’re fine, right? Plaster, bed, chocolate, don’t tell Aunty, stop crying. Right?”
“Two chocolate bars,” Izuku argued between sniffs. “And I want the All Might plasters, the normal ones aren’t as good.”
“Done,” Kacchan agreed, and hustled the shorter boy down to the bathroom. The All Might plaster was dutifully stuck on Izuku’s shoulder (they weren’t sure if it would work there, but seeing as his arm hurt when it was touched the shoulder seemed the safest place), Izuku himself was practically barricaded in his room, and Kacchan prepared his best innocent smile for lying through his teeth to every parent in the vicinity.
It was foolproof.
The fact that Izuku woke up in the morning with his arm completely healed only proved how flawless their planning really was. (That and the unmistakable power of All Might plasters).
-
“Where’s Deku?”
“Here!”
“Shit, don’t do that! Make some noise or something, seriously.”
“Sorry, I forgot I was crouching.”
“Your damn quirk Deku, I swear to god.”
“Sorry, Kacchan.”
-
“Again, Midoriya,” the gym teacher said. “And this time actually try to run the course without stopping.”
“But sensei, I can only manage thirty eight seconds of sprint and it takes two minutes and four seconds for each lap -”
“Midoriya!”
Izuku growled wordlessly and stomped back to the starting line. “Middle school is the worst.”
“You want me to hit him for you?” Tsubasa offered, standing ready with a stopwatch. He eyed the teacher, carefully comparing his wing strength to the man’s arm muscles in the way Katsuki had taught him. “I can hit him for you.”
“No hitting teachers, Tsubasa. No hitting anyone. We’ll get detention.”
“You and Katsuki will rescue me,” he said with easy conviction. “You’re heroes, it’s what you do.” It made Izuku smile at him, briefly lifting his mood. His old teachers had got used to the oddities and restrictions his quirk put on him, but even a month into middle school and his new teachers didn’t seem to have caught up. In a class full of visible quirks and Kacchan, Izuku was easy to overlook; it was an annoyance, but not one worth getting into trouble for.
At least, Izuku didn’t think so. Kacchan had practically exploded with protective fury when a teacher had tried to stop Izuku eating between classes, but Kacchan liked exploding so it probably wasn’t a good test.
“Heroes don’t hit people,” he told Tsubasa. “Unless they’re villains.”
“Yeah, but villains are people who disagree with heroes, and you ‘n Katsuki are heroes, so you can hit anyone who disagrees with you. It’s how it works.”
“It’s really not -”
“Midoriya! Less talking, more running!”
Izuku fought the urge to glare back at the teacher. Tsubasa, far too honest with his feelings and unused to fighting his urges, glared double.
“Let’s get this over with,” Izuku muttered, settling himself into ready position. “Count me down?”
When he was done, the time on Tsubasa’s stopwatch showed a clean six minutes, twelve seconds, with a precise time of two minutes four seconds per lap. Exactly the same as the previous two times Izuku had run the course.
He might not be the fastest of runners in a straight out sprint, but at least Izuku was consistent. If it wasn’t such a pain to stop and eat when sprinting made his hunger ran out he’d make a good long distance runner, but it was a pain, so he didn’t.
Also quirk use was forbidden in gym class.
“You need to push your boundaries,” the teacher said with a disappointed head shake. “I won’t tolerate slacking. Here, collect these and take them back to the equipment cupboard.” He pressed three stopwatches into Izuku’s hands, and Izuku could only watch in resignation as one of them tumbled to the ground.
“I’ll get it in a sec, sensei,” he said dully and trudged off to deposit the two in his hands before he could be accused of being disrespectful of school property.
Tsubasa jogged up, the fallen stopwatch carefully retrieved. “I can still hit him. You’re sure you don’t want me to hit him? Kacchan won’t mind.”
“No hitting people, Tsubasa.”
“Even villains?”
“Sensei’s not a villain.”
“Oh. Do you want me to hit him anyway?”
“Tsubasa.”
-
By the time he was fourteen, Izuku thought he had most of his quirk nailed down. He wasn’t sure what the common theme was - he had suspicions and ideas, but seriously, a gamer quirk? Ridiculous - but he was pretty certain he’d got the features in place.
The map he’d started filling in as a four year old covered most of the city by now, with long spider legs arching out along the train lines. It didn’t include a compass, but he could usually tell which way was which just by tracking his position along the map as he moved. It was on the one hand less useful than the map his phone gave him as it didn’t show places he hadn’t been, but also more useful in that he could zoom it into buildings and bring up floor plans if he concentrated hard enough.
His phone didn’t give him as many headaches though.
The issue with only being able to hold one thing in each hand, or ten things in a bag, required some creative thinking. Packing for a trip anywhere was the worst, everything had to be grouped in stacks of ten and placed in other bags just to allow him to pick up a suitcase. His school bag was usually ok, but carrying shopping was a logistical nightmare. Thank god for multipacks, that’s all Izuku was saying.
On the other hand, there didn’t seem to be a weight limit on what those items were, as Kacchan had so spectacularly discovered when he dropped a sofa on Izuku’s head and broke his arm. Izuku hadn’t found much use in his life so far for being able to deadlift a bus (plus up to ten passengers, but the bus was the impressive thing), but he was pretty sure it would come in handy as a hero.
And the other discovery from that day with the sofa, although neither of them had realised it at the time - sleep was good for Izuku. None of this waiting around, lying awake in bed unable to drift off; if it was night, and Izuku was in a bed, then he slept the healing sleep of the dead right through to sunrise and woke up in perfect health. On the plus side, he never had a nightmare, and never had an illness or injury follow him through to the next morning.
On the downside, Izuku didn’t budge from bed until the sun was up. In summer, he woke early. In winter, he still woke kind of early because sunrise in Japan only ever got as late as around seven-ish. But if he needed to be up before then, well… No. Not physically possible. A villain could burn the house down and tango on the ashes, and Izuku wouldn’t stir until sunrise came.
He got surprisingly used to skipping sleep all together when he needed to be up early. That and apologising for being late, he got the apologies down to an art form.
(He hadn’t yet unlocked the feature that wouldn’t let him sleep when enemies were nearby for the simple fact that, at fourteen, Izuku didn’t have enemies. Nor had he discovered yet that he couldn’t sleep without a bed because why on earth would he try to sleep without a bed? He’d once mortally offended Kacchan by offering to take the floor when they were having a sleepover, and Kacchan had responded by drowning Izuku in blankets and smothering him with pillows until he apologised and promised never to do it again.)
And, of course, his stamina. By fourteen, Izuku could sprint for forty six seconds before his forced rest of four seconds. Climbing gave him twenty three seconds, which was usually enough to reach some kind of ledge or windowsill to recharge his energy. The rain was still deadly, as was the bucket of water he and Kacchan had experimented with that other one time Izuku broke his arm. He could hang stationary on to the side of a building practically endlessly, but if he reached his twenty three second limit of actively climbing, he just dropped.
Incidentally, Tsubasa had got surprisingly good at catching him.
So, that’s Izuku’s quirk: he navigates weird, he sleeps weird, he runs and climbs weird, he carries things weird, and if he ever gets too hungry then he just goes weird. He’s only once pushed his hunger long enough to make himself sick, which was more to find out his limits than anything else. They’ve probably changed in the past few years, but when he was twelve he had two hours, twenty six minutes between being unable to run and being so hungry that he threw up in a trash can. Thirty four minutes after that and he’d been shivering and sweating and unable to stand, and eight minutes after that he’d been found by Kacchan and yelled at and force fed corn soup from the closest vending machine.
Ah, fond memories.
All of which led, approximately seven months ago, to Izuku deciding: “Yuuei. I’m going to apply to Yuuei.”
“Well, duh,” Kacchan said, making a face at him over his spicy chilli noodles. “We’re going to be heroes. Where else would we go?”
“Doesn’t Shiketsu train heroes as well?” Tsubasa asked. Kacchan rolled his eyes and kicked him in the shin.
“We’re going to be number one hereos,” he amended. “All Might went to Yuuei. If I’m going to be number one and Deku’s going to be number two then we need to go to Yuuei too. It’s logic.”
And when Kacchan put his unique stamp of approval on one of Izuku’s plans, that was it. The plan was happening. He, of the green hair and the twiggy, bus-benching arms, would go to Yuuei and be the number two hero.
Off the edge of his mental map of Tokyo, in a part of the city that he hadn’t yet unlocked the map for, a small marker started flashing in his mind.
Main quest: Yuuei Entrance Exam. Achieve a passing grade in both the written and practical portions of the famous hero class entrance exam and begin your journey to becoming a pro hero...

Hi there!!! First time requesting... I'll use this chance to request a Midoriya x reader story where reader is small breasted, tall, thin, shy at the beginning, cheerful when they're comfortable, nerd, gamer, wears glasses, brunette and olive skinned. I'll leave the plot on your capable hands, I just want a happy ending, please!!! Izuku and reader ending up together!!! Thank you so much!!!
i think i had a bit too much fun writing this, haha. i deeply apologize for the ridiculously long wait though, hun, and i hope you enjoy what i’ve written for you. i rewrote this three times then finally got something i was happy with on the third try. think i’ll try to incorporate the “realistic” messages more often, they’re sure fun to make. anyway, hope you like it!
———————————————————————
Your fingers thrummed anxiously against the hardwood table as you stared blankly at the textbook before you, not at all taking in the very much helpful information it provided for figuring out the problem you had been stuck on for the past ten minutes. It wasn’t entirely your fault that you couldn’t bring yourself to focus though.
Ten minutes. They were all ten minutes late.
It wasn’t normal for all of them to be late. Momo was always on time -- always early, in fact. She never allowed herself to be less than five minutes early. Which was why you were extremely surprised when you entered the small coffee shop to find your friend’s usual table vacant of the beautiful high black ponytail.
There were no new messages in the group chat, you had already checked about a million times since you had arrived.

Nothing to let you know that anyone would be running late, or had canceled plans. It was so unlike Momo -- so unlike everyone, honestly. And it made you nervous.
Had something happened to them? Did a message not get through to you or something? What if they had all said that they couldn’t make it and he showed up expecting everyone to be here but all he found was you sitting at a table by yourself? Oh God, that would make it look like you lied to him. Would he be mad and want to leave? Why would he want to stay? He had probably only said he would come because he didn’t want you to feel bad if he rejected your offer.
That didn’t make sense anyway, he was in the group chat so even if you didn’t get the message that didn’t mean he wouldn’t. Why would he even bother coming then?
Dear Lord, you wished your brain would shut up.
Two years. Two whole stupid years you have had a crush on him and never once had you tried to “shoot your shot”, as Mina would put it. You would face a hundred villains and All Might himself before you decided to muster up the courage to shoot your dumb friggin shot and face the possible embarrassment of rejection. It had taken you months to actually stand there like a big girl and have a decent conversation with him without stumbling over your words and averting your eyes away from him every two seconds. Then even longer to just ask him to hang out with you.
But not alone. God, no, not alone. You had to have other people there or else it would be too intimate, at least with other people you could have other things to distract yourself with if things got awkward. Keeping up a conversation with people you liked or weren’t extremely familiar with wasn’t exactly your forte. Your brain always seemed to draw a blank, which made normal human interaction a pain.
If you got stuck alone here with him you weren’t sure that you could forgive your friends for ditching, unless something really serious had happened. Geez, how would you even focus on your work? The study session hadn’t entirely been a ploy made up by your friends and yourself just to get to spend time with your crush. You had actually planned to study for the upcoming math test. You weren’t exactly terrible at math. Usually, you didn’t have much of a problem with it, but this unit had been utter hell, to put it bluntly. If someone is trying to become a hero, why do they need to know how to calculate the length and space between a curve on a graph? Really, what was the point?
A shrill ping echoed through your headphones, interrupting your blaring music and causing you to flinch slightly out of your thoughts.
Your eyes narrowed as they trailed further and further down the paragraph, suspicion settling into the pit of your stomach. All three of your most family-oriented friends forgot they had previous arrangements with their families? Doubtful. Mina getting food poisoning sounded about right, she sat with Sero and Kaminari during lunch sometimes, who are always daring her to eat disgusting food combinations. Jirou offering to help take care of said sick Mina? Absolutely not. Jirou can not stand to be around sick people, it grosses her out. She would rather spend ten minutes flirting with Bakugou than smell another person’s food-poison vomit.
If they had wanted to lie they should have tried a little harder to make it believable.
You weren’t going to call them out on it, though. Not once the realization dawned on you that your friends had, in undeniable fact now, left you all alone with your crush. And on purpose.
Why do they hate me?!
Your fingers hovered over the keyboard, at a loss for what to say, until you saw his message slide through the chat.
Your heart lurched into your throat at his question. Now was your chance to ditch, to reschedule the plans for another time, and you were already typing up your excuse when another message pinged through your headphones.
This was completely unfair. They had all promised to be here with you and now they were all dropping out on you at the last second like they had planned this all along. Which, honestly, is probably what they had done.
You let out a heavy sigh, slumping further down into your seat, textbook and notes completely forgotten.
Truly, you knew your friends meant well in all of this, you just wished they had chosen a better way to go about it.
But, there really isn’t a better way, is there?
You certainly weren’t going to make the first move and Midoriya probably wasn’t either - if he even liked you that way. Despite the great amount of confidence he had gained over the past few years, mostly regarding his fighting style and the way he spoke to Bakugou, he could still be easily flustered, even if it wasn’t as common as before. So, no, you supposed there definitely wasn’t a better way your friends could have pulled this off.
Another heavily anxious sigh pushed past your lips as you fixed your slouching posture and reopened the group chat.
You let your fingers loom over the keyboard, once again, seriously contemplating your original idea to take a raincheck. Midoriya wouldn’t be upset with you, he would be completely understanding, especially if your excuse was good enough. Period cramps were a thing, ya know? Sometimes they caught you off guard and maybe you just didn’t -
Oh, for Christ’s sake, screw it.
That wasn’t too bad.
No, it was perfectly fine and he would be here in a few minutes.
He would be here in a few minutes.
Oh, for the love of All Might, he would be here, with you, alone, in a few God forsakenly short minutes and you had not a clue in the whole stupid world how this was going to go. You were panicking, a sort of pathetic amount, if you were going to be honest with yourself.
This was just Midoriya.
Midoriya, the cute nerdy kid who was the absolute sweetest person you had ever met in your entire life. The I Can And Absolutely Will Give My Life To Protect Everyone I Know And Love, Midoriya. The Midoriya who could shatter ten brick walls with less than a fifth of his power and still have enough to fend off three hundred more waiting villains.
Midoriya, the kindest, most gentle, and fiery soul you had ever known. The soul you had so stupidly allowed yourself to fall in love with these past few years.
Love.
That was a strong word, but something about it felt right when you applied it to your feelings for the gentle green-haired boy, which was a little terrifying, considering that most of his perspective of you was largely unknown. It was probably just your overly hormonal teenage brain trying to convince you that this emotion could only be found in the green eyes of the one and only class nerd. That didn’t matter anymore though. You knew you had already let yourself fall too far from the cliff edge to have any hope of saving yourself now.
Screw it, you repeated to yourself, tossing your phone back onto the table to resume staring blankly at your textbook, your brows only slightly more furrowed than before.
You had already started digging this grave two years ago, fully aware of the consequences, might as well finish it up and lay in it, nothing worse could come of it. Except, maybe, being buried alive and suffocating under the weight of your own regret.
It’ll be fine. It’s just Izuku. My friend. My friend... that I’ve had a crush on for -
It was a long - but still too short - couple of minutes.
Midoriya arrived at the cafe ten minutes later looking surprisingly out of breath. The freckled bridge of his nose and cheeks were a bright rosy red, bitten from the crisp winter evening air. He slumped into the chair across from you, flashing you the brightest smile you had ever seen while he set his bag down beside him.
“Sorry, I’m late,” He said, voice garbled through the noise of your headphones, which you immediately yanked out. “I was talking to Kirishima and completely lost track of time. I’m glad you waited for me though.”
“O-Oh, it’s okay,” you stammered, doing your best to return his smile just as confidently, though you were sure anyone could see how terribly flustered you already were. “I really hadn’t been waiting that long, I’m just happy you were able to come.” His breathing still sounded slightly labored as he pulled out his notebook and Algebra textbook, your brow quirked up in curiosity. “Izuku, did you run all the way here or something?”
A flush that you know has nothing to do with with the cold flares up his entire face to the tips of his ears, and his green eyes flicker sheepishly towards yours. “Uhm - Well, yeah, I felt bad for keeping you waiting for so long. Don’t worry, it was just a couple of blocks, I’m okay.” A small breathless laugh bubbled past his lips, “I’m thankful for Aizawa’s endurance training though.”
“Yeah,” you laughed with him, too aware of the heat you felt crawling up your neck. He had actually ran all the way from the dorms to the coffee shop just for you, because he felt guilty for keeping you waiting, even if it had only been a couple of minutes.
It was silly for you to dwell on such a thing, honestly. Midoriya really was just that type of person, it wouldn’t be considered a big deal to anyone else, but to you it meant the world. And you couldn’t do anything to tame the butterflies in your stomach when you pictured him, face scrunched with slight panic and focus as he rushed through the evening crowds all the way here, just to get to you quicker.
“I know it’s a bit late and all,” Midoriya mumbled, bringing you back into reality with a small jolt that, thankfully, went completely unnoticed by him as he still had his face in his bag. “But did you want anything from the cafe? I brought some money with me.”
“No, I’m okay, thank you though.” You were wide awake right now, caffeine wouldn’t do anything but make your nerves worse.
A small frown tugged at the corner of his mouth once he came back up from his bag, beaten up All Might wallet in hand. It was a challenge not to crack a smile in its direction. “You sure? I really don’t mind getting you something. I feel like I should pay you back for waiting for me.”
You rolled your eyes picking up a playful smile so he knew you weren’t actually irritated with him. “I told you, it’s fine, Izuku. You didn’t keep me waiting long, I promise.” You waved a hand in the direction of the cafe bar, “If you want to get something, go ahead, I don’t mind waiting a few more minutes.”
Midoriya paused for a moment, casting his gaze off to the side for a second before he shook his head. Seemingly having made a decision he tucked his wallet back into his backpack and gave you a warm grin. “I’m fine, I was really just asking for you, but I’m glad you’re not upset. You’re really too sweet, Y/n. Anyway, was there anything you wanted to go over first? Ochaco said you were struggling with-”
But your mind had started buzzing the second his compliment had reached your ears. A part of your brain was screaming at yourself to get a grip and the other part of you just really, really wanted to hear him say it again with that same heart-melting smile of his.
“Yeah,” you said absently, unaware as to what you were actually agreeing to. You knew the smile you were giving him must have made you look like a lovesick puppy ready to barf rainbows, yet you didn’t have enough properly operating brain cells to make you care. “We can start with that first.”
“Okay, that’s great! I have some notes you can look over if you want, or I can explain it if you’d like. I was also having trouble with this, but Iida was able to explain it to me in a way that actually makes sense, so I can try to explain it the same way. Is that alright?”
It took all of your focus to make yourself look down at the notebook he was holding out for you and actually process the words written on the paper. Then another few seconds for you to realize that you had no clue what in the hell the notes were talking about. Yeah, you definitely couldn’t zone out anymore or else you would be utterly screwed by the time the test came around.
“Uh, explain it, please?” you mumbled, casting a quick shy glance in his direction. “If you don’t mind.”
He chuckled and the sound made the heat in your cheeks grow a little hotter. “Not at all. So, the way Tenya explained it was like this...”
It was quite a feat to keep your brain focused on the task at hand rather than on the way Midoriya’s hand would brush against yours every once in a while when he was showing you how to solve a problem. Or the way his nose crinkled when he thought something you did was funny, but clearly didn’t want to laugh at for your sake. Or the way he had asked if he could sit next to you instead of across from you because it would be a lot easier for him to show you what he was doing. And the way his warm shoulder - covered in a large grey hoodie that had no right looking that good on him - pressed gently into yours.
It had been a difficult battle, but you had won. By the end of the night, you were caught up on everything you hadn’t understood in Algebra a couple hours prior. Midoriya grinned proudly down at your practice problems, unable to find a single mistake this time.
“You’re a really quick learner, Y/n,” he laughed, tilting his head to look back at you, his green eyes sparkling. “Are you sure you needed my help in the first place?”
You flushed, letting out a small giggle. “Oh, definitely,” you responded softly from behind the hand you had brought up to cover your mouth. “I didn’t know what the heck I was doing until you got here. It all just looked like a bunch of-”
“You shouldn’t hide your smile like that. It’s too beautiful to keep hidden.”
“H-Huh?” Oh, your face was totally on fire now.
Had you heard him correctly?
“I-I mean - U-Uhm - I’m really sorry!” Midoriya stammered, his hands immediately flying up into the air as if he didn’t know where to put them anymore as he quickly shuffled away from you on the booth. “That was really weird of me to say, sorry. I just - well, uhm - just -” he moved his text book over towards him and stared intensely at it, obviously intent on not making anymore eye contact with you.
Which was the absolute last thing you wanted right now, but you were still trying to wrap your head around everything that had just happened. That wasn’t the usual Midoriya compliment. He didn’t tell all of his friends how beautiful he thought there smiles were. It didn’t even seem like he had meant to say it in the first place, he was so flustered now.
“Was there - uhm - anything else you wanted to go over? I’m pretty much caught up on everything, so it’s - it’s whatever you want to do.”
Well, that definitely caught your attention. “You’re caught up on everything?” You asked slowly, brain still buffering severely. Midoriya nodded, green curls bouncing with the jerky movement. He didn’t look at you though. “Izuku, did you rush all the way out here just to help me?”
Again, not a thing Midoriya wouldn’t naturally do on his own, but the way he was reacting was a clear sign that this wasn’t just because of that fantastically kind heart of his. Warm hope, that you didn’t have the willpower to crush, bloomed large and all consuming within your chest.
He nodded once again, but this time you caught the apprehensive glance he shot at you from the corner of his eye. “Y-Yeah.” You noticed how prominent his freckles looked against the firey color of his cheeks, and it made your heart flutter. Midoriya let out a heavy sigh before finally looking back towards you, textbook forgotten. “Ochaco said it was a good idea for us to hang out together because - well - I - she knows that I - that I’ve liked you for a while.” The last part was barely loud enough for you to hear over the night time rush of the cafe, but your ears had most definitely not failed you that time.
“M-Me?”
Yes, you idiot! Who else would he be talking about?
Ochaco had known about it. Your best friend had known about it and hadn’t told you? Had let you keep your feelings for him buried deep within your heart for all of that time.
You couldn’t blame her, no matter how terribly you wanted to. You knew Ochaco did it with the best intentions. Ochaco wasn’t one to go around spilling everyone’s secrets. She had probably kept hope that Midoriya - or maybe you, even though the chances of that were slim to none - would finally admit to one another. That made this grand scheme of hers her way of telling you and Midoriya that even she had gotten tired of waiting for you two.
“Yeah, I told her this was a bad idea and that you probably didn’t feel the same way, but she insisted,” he added quickly, hands gone back to moving around the air awkwardly. “I’m really sorry that I’ve made this really weird now, I - I can leave if you want.”
Without thinking - just as you had been through out the course of this entire conversation - your hand shot out to wrap around one of his to keep him in place, even though he had made no indication of getting up.
“No!” You winced at your sudden volume, face burning again. “No, you can stay. Trust me, you haven’t made it weird, I’m just - uhh - trying to, I guess, process everything. Give me a second, please?”
Midoriya looked visibly stunned, but nodded his quick jerky nod nonetheless, bouncing his green curls again. Your brain ran through everything he had just said over and over until you were absolutely positive you hadn’t imagined any of it. Until you were absolutely positive that the boy you had so stupidly allowed yourself to fall for had just admitted having feelings for you. It wasn’t a trick of your mind from lack of sleep or too many hours of work, Midoriya had really just said all of that. That he thought your smile was too beautiful to hide, that he had ran all this way not because he needed to study but because he wanted to make sure you didn’t need his help, that he liked you. But not just liked you, he had liked you for a while.
A while. How long was that?
Probably not as long as you, but the answer didn’t matter. You were sure that he could have told you it was for the past couple of hours and you would still be just as happy.
A gentle squeeze around your hand from calloused fingers pulled you back to Earth, and you looked down to find that his hand - only slightly bigger than yours - was still wrapped up tightly in your own as if you were too scared to let go of him, scared he would disappear like the remnants of a dream.
“A-are you sure I didn’t make it weird?”
You laughed breathlessly, a bright grin lighting up your face as you lifted your eyes to meet his. His shoulders had relaxed a tiny bit, but his emerald eyes were still swimming with anxiety, even when you shook your head no.
“I’m - I’m sure, Izuku. I promise you didn’t make it weird.” You glanced down to pull his hand into your lap as you shifted in your seat to face him properly. Truthfully, you should have let go of his hand a while ago, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to do it yet. At least, he didn’t seem to mind. “I just - I dunno - I guess, I thought I would never be able to hear you say those words and I’m still having a hard time believing that you’ve even said them-”
“I said them!” He jumped in, the anxiety replaced by overwhelming joy. “That was all real, trust me, my heart is still pounding from the anxiety.” He let out a shaky laugh to which you joined him in. “I wasn’t at all sure how tonight was going to go. All Ochaco had told me was that I should trust her and that everything would be fine and, honestly, I didn’t know whether to believe her or not. But then when I got here and I saw you I knew there was no way I could keep this from you anymore. I had planned to tell you on the way home, except, well, I guess spending all of this time alone with you was enough to push me over the edge.”
You grinned and softly breathed, “I’m glad.”
——
There hadn’t been many people left out on the streets, this part of town never really got busy after dark because there were no bars or clubs. Only small shops and businesses that closed no later than ten lined this city block and every city block within a five mile radius of U.A. The frosty night air nawed at the warmth from your cheeks, washing them with a deep shade of scarlet. You curled into the warmth of your thick wooly sweater, thankful that you had thought to put it back on before leaving the cafe.
One of your hands took refuge in your cozy double sleeve so that it was no more than a nub of thick cloth, while the other, wound frigid fingers through the tender warmth his hand provided. A small, content smile adorned your face as you walked closely together, shoulders brushing with each step, to conserve the heat between you two.
Midoriya was beaming. He hadn’t stopped since he had left the cafe with his hand in yours, heart singing in delight at the sensation of your fingers slotted perfectly through his, like the missing pieces of a puzzle. His joy and excitement was so clearly bubbling past the brim of his self-control, you were sure that if he could smile any brighter that he would, just to show how proud he was to be holding your hand.
Neither of you said anything on your walk back to the dorms. You didn’t have to and neither did he, even if his posture said that he could barely contain himself. Midoriya could speak if he wanted, knew that without a shadow of a doubt, but he chose not to. He chose to walk with you, hand intertwined with yours, on a blissfully quiet trip back to the dorms, basking in your presence. Just as you did so happily with him.
Minutes pass much too quickly though, and it seems like you’re upon the entrance steps of the dorms only seconds later. He pauses and you stop with him, turning to face him, eager for the buildings heat, but more eager to understand the hesitation that flickers in his gaze. Another moment of silence passed before he turned to you, freckled cheeks flushed a bright red that once more has to do with far more than just the cold.
You wait patiently, eyes soft and mouth still pulled into a gentle smile that wordlessly urges him to speak his mind. He takes you in for one last moment, his beaming grin grown slightly muted as he searches for the confidence he needs, which he quickly finds resting in your own gaze.
“I - uhm - I just wanted to thank you,” he started quietly, “for making tonight so amazing. I really can’t tell you how happy it made me.”
Oh, you were going to swoon, truly.
This boy...
After all that he had done for you tonight, he still wanted to thank you. To thank you. When all you had done was show up and bottle up your feelings for the past two years. You didn’t deserve him and you weren’t sure if the universe had already realized its mistake, but there was no way in hell you were going to give him back now.
“Izuku,” you sighed, your smile lifting fondly at the edges, “I should be the one thanking you here. You went through all of this trouble today just to help me out and if it weren’t for you I would still be sitting there with that stupid text book and my harbored feelings not knowing what the heck I was supposed to do. So, thank you for all that you did for me tonight and making it one I will forever remember.”
His mouth fell open in a look of awe and soft adoration, then within one swift step forward, he swooped down and gently pressed his lips to yours. The kiss was short and sweet, a fleeting brush of his lips, but it was enough to warm your entire body in a flood of overwhelming heat.
Midoriya pulled away, cheeks flushed with embarrassment, likely matching your own, and gaze slightly chagrined. “S-Sorry, I should have asked.”
You beamed, shaking your head vigorously as you moved to wrap your arms around his neck, bringing your forehead to rest against his, “Stop apologizing for silly things and kiss me again.”
“S-Sor - I mean - wait, really?”
You couldn’t stop yourself from giggling at the genuine surprise in his eyes, it was adorable. “Yes, Izuku, yes, kiss me again.”
And so he did. With a grin that reflected your own, he pressed his lips against yours once more, this time more firmly than the first, and brought his hands to your hips to pull you closer.
The night wasn’t so cold anymore. He warmed your heart, your chest, your body, your soul. Everything you could ever ask for, he was a brilliant pillar of light that radiated comforting heat and he was all yours. Your own personal ray of sunshine that you would hold on to for as long as you could.

Dabi (assuming he’s Touya), Twice, and Shigaraki
Dabi (Touya)
do I like them: hell yeah
5 good qualities: his design, the potential of him being touya already creates an incredibly interesting character to explore, the fact that the first thing he said when he saw shigaraki was “ew, this guy’s gross,” the obvious emotion he has under the cool attitude, and his dedication
3 bad qualities: he’s (while valid in many ways) an extremist, keeps delaying his reveal, and called Spinner a lizard which wasn’t cool
favourite episode/etc: I loved when he faced End*avor during the pro hero arc. I can’t remember another time when we saw him that expressive, and it really got me excited about his future personal battles.
otp: n/a
brotp: villain squad
ot3: n/a
notp: not really like a notp, but i don’t care about dabi/hawks
best quote: In response to Have you ever stopped to think about how their families feel?!: “I thought about it so hard, I went crazy.”
head canon: He’s got a personal mission to ominously full-name all the Todorokis. He’s already got Shouto and *nji down, so now he needs to figure out how he’s gonna fuck with Fuyumi in a way that doesn’t freak her out too much, then also Natsuo.
Twice
do I like them: pleasantly neutral
5 good qualities: hilarious, big ol’ heart, power of friendship and found family, his quirk’s rad, and he’s just here for a good time
3 bad qualities: really fuckin’ uncomfortable with toga, he’s a friendly dude but he’s still villainous so y’know, deceased status
favourite episode/etc: I was so proud of him during the villain arc when he created the Sad Man’s Parade, but my memory isn’t so great about specific moments, unfortunately
otp: n/a
brotp: his whole villain family is very important
ot3: n/a
notp: twice & toga
best quote: no specific quotes really come to mind, sorry!
head canon: rather than a headcanon, can I just have an AU where he didn’t die by Hawks?
Shigaraki
do I like them: that’s my horrible son
5 good qualities: his design is what made me watch the series, he’s constantly growing, he can be pretty accurate in his perceptions of people, there goes my baby off to destroy people, and he somehow manages to offer satisfying consequences to horrible people
3 bad qualities: crusty gamer gone Horribly Wrong, his previous reliance on people like AfO and Kurogiri to cover his failings, and he breaks my heart knowing his backstory
favourite episode/etc: Way in the beginning when he confronts Izuku at the mall. This scene continues to be one of the most terrifying in the entire series because he managed to threaten Izuku in plain sight without anyone noticing, and his whole attitude and mannerisms there really helped with establishing his character (never forget his segue “...So anyway, I hate everything.”)
otp: n/a
brotp: villain squad, but in a specific au, i love his potential friendship with Izuku
ot3: n/a
notp: shigaraki & izuku
best quote: “Your will is too strong, sensei. This is my power. My body. You don’t get to be some phantom voice whispering in my head. Back then, I thought about how the guy they call the “Lord of Evil” was defeated by the power of just one man. Don’t get me wrong-- I’m real grateful for how you raised me, but I don’t wanna be like you. I wanna be greater than you. So shut the hell up. I control myself.”
head canon: Life is suffering when you’re a disaster gamer on the go and keep accidentally almost destroying your handhelds. While he’s responsible about it to the point where he honestly doesn’t even think about always keeping his pinkies out, sometimes external forces make him come close.
#thanks so much for these anon!! some nice villains to spice it up#i love crispy lad and fuckhands mcmike#twice is a good time i just don't feel as creative with him unfortunately#anonymous#jest answers

Crossworks 2020
Hello friend!
Right, so, ah… sorry this is late. Got incredibly caught up in other exchange nonsense—I’m sure you know how it is, unless you have reasonable decision-making skills and executive function, in which case can I have some too?
…anyway.
Some of these have way more rambling/commentary than others but I am desirous of them all, don’t worry.
If you’re browsing for people to treat, 1) thank you, you’re awesome; 2) I will gladly accept treats in any medium :D
General DNW
Rape/non/dub-con; non-canonical major character death; heavy angst; hurt no comfort; graphic depictions of deliberate and methodical self-harm*; graphic depictions of suicide; anything E rated; smut; gore; heavy gender dysphoria; grimdark; complete downer endings; character bashing; incest; cringe comedy; a/b/o; mpreg; graphic eye trauma; graphic and/or permanent hand trauma (unless the setting can provide a more-or-less fully functional prosthetic or equivalent); issuefic; unrequested identity headcanons; a focus on unrequested romantic relationships**.
*I don’t include things like, say, punching a wall in a fit of emotion under this. however, something like cutting would not be appreciated.
**canonical levels of canonical ships are perfectly fine; background non-canon ships that I haven't dnw'd are okay too, unless otherwise specified in a request.
General Likes/Other General Info
So, since most of my requests are for fusions, I should probably lay out what I tend to consider a fusion—it’s a little broader than the official Crossworks definition, I think, which is “A work in which characters of one canon are treated as if they always belonged in another setting, or their world has always had elements of another canon.” All of that falls under my personal definition, as do fusions that are basically Characters A playing out the story of Canon B, even if the setting is still mostly that of Canon A. For the one crossover I’ve requested, as noted in that prompt I really don’t care how that crossover comes about, just that it does.
Generally—as you could maybe, possibly, tell from the theme of many of my requests—I’m a total sucker for fairytale fusions; I haven’t really elaborated on all of those combos, just know that I adore characters I know and love playing out a fairytale plot; if you’ve matched on that, I don’t really know how you could go too far wrong.
Other general likes I think are most relevant for this exchange include:
– I really like plotty fics
– Secret identity and disguise shenanigans, the more layers to them and more absurdity the better.
– Found family; families of choice
– Character studies
– Worldbuilding
Specific Requests
Superhero Fairytales
Miraculous Ladybug, Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure (Cartoon), Østenfor sol og vestenfor måne | East of the Sun and West of the Moon
Fic/Fusion
request-specific dnw: breaking up Rapunzel/Eugene, romantic Rapunzel/Cass, romantic Varian/anyone else from the main cast (unless you age him up/them down)
Would love to see Rapunzel et al as Miraculous holders, or the Miraculous kids with the Sundrop and Moonstone and all that goes with that, or the characters from either series facing the plot of East of the Sun and West of the Moon.
For the comparison of ML and Tangled—there’s a lot to explore, I feel, with the creation/healing vs destruction/decay powers that the series both have going, along with the idea that if united the power becomes much, much greater, and far more dangerous.
As a side note: I’m very not up to date with ML; the last episode I’ve currently seen is Chameleon. I know some spoilers, and I’m not super concerned about them overall, but if you write a fic that relies on an intimate knowledge of events post-season-two I will be lost.
Time-Travelling Imposters
Mother of Learning - nobody103, Rigel Black Series (Harry Potter fanfic) - murkybluematter, Tam Lin (Traditional Ballad)
Fic/Fusion
request-specific dnw: romantic Harry/Archie, explicitly breaking up canon ships fandom-specific exception: as long as it doesn't violate another dnw, if you do a Tam Lin fusion, the ship it's for (platonic or romantic or somewhere in between) is up to you.
Mother of Learning/Rigel Black Chronicles: I think it would be interesting to toss the RBC characters into the world/plot of MoL--who's the time traveler? who's the tagalong? The noble/nonnoble distinction in MoL and the Splinter Wars and the Weeping would be very interesting to warp into the RBC setting/plot, I'd expect, what with the pureblood/not!pureblood things and the Fade. (i'm not really requesting this, obviously, it's not in my fandoms, but if you're at loss for the angels--or indeed the faeries for a Tam Lin fusion--i always delight in the Tortallan gods showing up in RBC fic)
RBC/Tam Lin: don’t have too much to say here, but I think that RBC has plenty of relationships that you could fit into the dynamics here.
MoL/Tam Lin: in a weird way, MoL already has its characters in the roles they need to be in for a Tam Lin fusion, though the structure is of course very different--what is Zach if not a sacrifice against Panaxeth's release? What is Zorian if not the one who fights nigh-impossible odds to save him from that fate?
Fairytale Gamer Kids
Hanging Out with a Gamer Girl (Manga), Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms
Fic/Fusion
Fandom-specific DNW: sexualization of Kaoru’s crossdressing, full justification of Kaoru’s fears re: Nanami’s dad request-specific note: romantic Kaoru/Nanami is okay here if you want to fuse with a romantic fairytale; I'd equally enjoy such a fairytale being made more platonic or more ambiguous.
So, if you put the kids into the fairytale—who are they? What fairytale are they in? Can you work in the initial identity confusion, the ongoing ruse?
Superhero Gamer Kids
Hanging Out with a Gamer Girl (Manga), Miraculous Ladybug
Fic/Fusion
request-specific DNW: sexualization of Kaoru’s crossdressing (or equivalent character's, if you fuse it the other way), romance between Kaoru and Nanami beyond light shiptease à la canon, full justification of Kaoru’s fears re: Nanami’s dad
I'd love to see Kaoru and Nanami as Miraculous-holders; Marinette and Adrien as slowly-getting-less-reclusive gamers would also be fun, and there are some interesting parallels you could make with their family lives.
There are so many things you could draw from HOwaGG to make parallels to ML; is it that Ladybug is apparently a boy but Nanami a girl, and Chat Noire apparently a girl but Kaoru a boy—does that help them keep up their façade?
In terms of other parallels, there’s also Nanami and Marinette both being the only children of two loving parents, and Kaoru and Adrien both being the only children of distant/absent fathers and (seemingly) dead—and certainly absent—mothers.
As a side note: I’m very not up to date with ML; the last episode I’ve currently seen is Chameleon. I know some spoilers, and I’m not super concerned about them overall, but if you write a fic that relies on an intimate knowledge of events post-season-two I will be lost.
Star Wars Fairytale
Star Wars Rebels: Servants of the Empire - Jason Fry, Østenfor sol og vestenfor måne | East of the Sun and West of the Moon
Fic/Fusion
I don't have anything very specific here, at least not right now, but the idea of the protagonist questing to a near-impossible place to rescue a loved one is a parallel that I think it'd be interesting to draw out—in some ways the situations are utterly dissimilar, but they’re surprisingly alike in other ways.
Superheroes Galore
僕のヒーローアカデミア | Boku no Hero Academia | My Hero Academia, Super Powereds - Drew Hayes
Fic/Crossover
fandom-specific dnw: non-canon ships
I'm very interested in the similarities and differences between these two superhero worlds--there's the Powered vs Super distinction in Super Powereds that's absent in bnha with its quirks, the wildly different (but both still formalized and structured) paths to becoming a hero, even just how common powers are in the different worlds. I'm not sure how well trying to wrangle both of them into the same world in the same era would work, but more power to you if you manage that, or maybe it's dimension hopping or time travel shenanigans that bring them into contact with each other--I really don't care on the mechanics here.
Also, the first time I saw Izuku my brain immediately went "hey, it's tiny green Vince!" and I think seeing them meet, at any point in their respective journeys, would be pretty funny and/or interesting.
I'd be into the other characters too—there’s also a comparison to be made, I feel, between Izuku as both powerful and analytic, and Roy and Hershel who are kind of the same but More and also split apart.
Anyway, that’s probably enough rambling from me for now. Good luck with the writing!

what kind of soul are you?
YOU ARE A DREAMING SOUL
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ffc8ab313105166103922bf0b2c87b20/085471f4f9d0425f-73/s100x200/6953875830e41872095e2e81aa0b0cf2eed2de5f.jpg)
Your vivid imagination takes you away from this world So much so that you tend to live in your head most of the time. You have great dreams and ambitions that could be the envy of all... But for you, following through with your dreams is a bit difficult. You are charming, endearing, and people tend to love you. Forgiving and tolerant, you see the world through rose colored glasses. Underneath it all, you are brimming with passion that you keep hidden. Always hopeful, you tend to expect positive outcomes in your life.
Souls you are most compatible with: Newborn Soul, Prophet Soul, and Traveler Soul
tagged by: @explodie tagging: please do this it’s so fun
So I actually had to take this quiz twice ‘cause this is what I got the first time and I about lost it.
YOU ARE A HUNTER SOUL.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f5cad13f13fd44b358a788f59c35db46/085471f4f9d0425f-f9/s100x200/d78599636836facaa0baa8bf85433330b1c2cb00.jpg)
You are driven and ambitious - totally self motivated to succeed. Actively working to achieve what you want, you are skillful in many areas. You are a natural predator with strong instincts … and more than a little demanding. You are creative, energetic, and an extremely powerful force. An outdoors person, you like animals and relate to them better than people. You tend to have an explosive personality, but you also have a good sense of humor. People sometimes see you as arrogant or a know it all. You tend to be a bit of a loner, though you hate to be alone. Souls you are most compatible with: Seeker Soul and Peacemaker Soul
I WANT TO HAVE TIME TO UNPACK ALL OF THAT BUT I AGREE WITH THIS SO MUCH You know what. I’m gonna do it.
Of course Izuku got the same damn result as Katsuki and here’s heckin why strap in, gamers, we’re going on a feels trip.
Driven and ambitious: are you kidding of course he is. Quirk or no quirk, he’s been studying and working to be a hero since he was old enough to say I am here. Totally self motivated to succeed: Yup, absolutely. Above and beyond what All Might asked him to do, he trained himself in order to acquire One for All, and then even now at UA, he continues to strive for excellence even beyond his course load. He spends how many chapters just training by himself, analyzing his faults, pushing and striving to shape himself into what he wants. He doesn’t need someone else to tell him he has work to do. He knows he does. And he does it. A natural predator with strong instincts: maybe not predator, but strong instincts is absolutely fact. While he does tend to let his analytical brain take over, he is significantly more instinctual based on his wide knowledge and study, and it has been shown that when he can just relax and trust what he’s doing, he does tend to perform at higher levels. More than a little demanding: he doesn’t just accept what’s in front of him. Demanding doesn’t need to be in reference to someone else: he demands that he get better, demands to perform at a certain level, to keep pace. He’s incredibly demanding of himself and his own disciplines. Outdoors? Animals? Maybe not so much, but I can see how he may enjoy outdoors and animals, but this is probably the least relatable to my Izuku. Explosive personality: Yes. One that he hides in particular. Remember how he says that the parts of him he hates most are the parts that he sees so often in Katsuki; go figure he has an explosive temper and a drive that cannot be contained; explosive personality doesn’t even need to be temper, just think of him when an idea gets in his head. Nothing or no one is going to stand in his way. Good sense of humor: look at my boy he likes puns ( yes I’m sticking to that fight me out back of Dennys ). People sometimes see you as arrogant or a know it all: stares in Bakugou Katsuki You tend to be a bit of a loner, but hate to be alone: sobs in middle school.
anyway thanks for coming to my TED talk this made me feel feelings

jfc,,,,,, i,, i could have been spending my mha creative energies on a fic that i’ve, y’know, already posted ??? i could have written another chapter, but what do i do instead?? I rewrite the first chapter of a wip i haven’t worked on in two whole years and never saw the light of day. and now i must fight the urge to post it because i KNOW i’d never actually work on it consistently enough to justify it but still.....the urge to get feedback is strong.....
#shut up danni#anyways gamer quirk izuku#that's all im gonna say on the matter but i've been wanting to write this for literally two whole fucking years and i finally got round to i#*it#it's kind of a huge mess but i'm actually??? really proud of it????#if i ever actually do write for it im hoping that the chapters'll be waaaaay shorter than my current normal#like rn my average is 7k-10k which is such a pain bc it makes chapters take even longer to post w my shitty spontaneous writing insp#but chapter 1 is currently like 4k and i probs wouldn't go over everything to the detail i do usually#but still it made me happy even if no one's gonna see it#(orrrr.....if there's enough interest i'll post it on here mayhaps who knows.....)

Hey does anyone remember Sonic 06 Real-Time Fandub? Anyway,
Green Lightning, but as moments/quotes from the Sonic 06 Real-Time Fandub
*spoiler warning for Green Lightning of course
...
Akari, before quitting the LOV: Please freeze. Am I doing this right? It's my first day on the job. Please freeze
...
Izuku, as Green Lightning: Don't worry, Eggman's an egghead. And by Eggman I mean Shigaraki
Shigaraki: What did you call me?!
...
Orenji, watching what's going down at the USJ: Oh, I should... uh... I-I guess he's got it handled. I'll just, I mean, it'd be really awkward if I walked in now, so...
...
Dabi, stealing the marble from Todoroki: Yes, Todoroki Shouto, I got'cha bitch! Got 'em in the palm of my hands!
...
Sora: Hey. Wristband. Tell me my future
Wristband: Your future is: Undetermined
Sora: Well, that's pretty lame, I spent like 20 hours making you
...
Izuku, after getting teleported by AFO: Well, that was weird. Dematerialzing, rematerializing.
...
Sora: Well, fortunately we made it here to the computer room. Hey- hey Midoriya. Hey Midoriya, hey Midoriya.
Izuku: Yeah
Sora: We found- we- we found the computer room.
Izuku: Oh fuck, the c o m p u t e r r o o m.
...
Kurogiri, teleporting to Shigaraki at the USJ after Iida escaped: The instant ramen's been released! We need to go, NOW
...
Izuku at Mirio: Going through the floor. Who do you think you are, Danny Phantom or something?
...
Shigaraki: *violent coughing*
Green Lightning (Izuku): Oh d- dude, you alright?
Shigaraki: *more violent coughing*
Green Lightning: You good? Good? You need a lozenge?
Eraserhead: Oh my god, who the fuck is that?
Green Lightning: Just let him have- just give him a second to clear his throat.
Shigaraki: *violent coughing switches to evil laughter* ...Welcome to Tilted Towers
...
Spinner: My name is Memphis, Tennessee, and I'm part lizard.
...
Akari: What happened to my quirk?
All for One: Oh, Shadow the Hedgehog, you don't know? There's a new trend going around online called "kinning."
*calling Akari "Shadow" fits bc. If you've seen Akari's design. Yeah that's fair.*
...
All for One: And there's NOTHING you can do to STOP me! *villainous laugh*
Izuku, unphased: I can, um, kick your ass. Right now.
...
Dabi: Look at this orb. Inside, you'll see the future. In your future it looks like you'll kiss seven girls. How lucky for you
Todoroki: Jokes on you! If you truly knew me, you'd know I'm gay
...
Mr. Compress: Here, come to my house. C'mon, let's just go.
Izuku: Wha- *gets shrunk*
Mr. Compress: To my house.
...
Shinsou: I'm tired all the time
Sora: Oh I fuckin' feel you there buddy. Insomnia, am I right?
...
Shigaraki: Hey, gamers. Were you talking about Fortnite? No, I'm not even gonna pretend you were talking about Fortnite. I just really love bringing up my favorite game whenever I can
...
Akari: I, too, have insomnia, but unlike you mine is not caused by depression. Mine is because I play so much Fortnite. I stay up late and go to Tilted Towers.
Akari: I dont actually play Fortnite- I don't know any other places
...
Shigaraki: Well, you see, it's a gamer pad. Not many girls come in here cuz I get friendzoned so frequently. But that's okay.
Toga: I'd like to be in the friendzone! I'd like friends!
Shigaraki: It's not as pleasant as you'd think. They don't treat you like a friend. They treat you like an item. Sometimes I wish I could be more than just an accessory to these women, but unfortunately, as a gamer, I don't get respect
Orenji: Well, I'm not a gamer, so maybe they'll respect me!
Shigaraki: That just makes you a beta cuck. That's the difference between you and I; I'm an alpha gamer.
...
Hatsume: That doesn't matter. Check out this cool gem I got in eBay for $7.
Natsuki: It's so cool. Can I add it to my rock collection?
...
Mr. Compress, talking about shrinking Green Lightning: You see, I had to trap Green Lightning in the hell dimension 'cause he disrespected gamers.
...
Akari, sitting in the League of Villain's basement: Maybe if I- if I keep thinking really hard, my hands will get clean. I really would like to eat.
...
Shigaraki: We'll have an ARMY of GAMERS to take on the world with
Kurogiri: Y'know you say that like it's a threatening thing, but have you ever seen a gamer in real life before?
...
Shinsou: I hope you're happy with yourself
Hatsume: I am happy with myself! I have a positive mental attitude!
Shinsou:... God, I wish that were me
...
Akari, trying to move their hand after Shigaraki disintegrated it: Oh this? It's my arm.
...
Akari: I've also been eating rocks. That's- that's my go-to when I've been captured.
Kirishima, nervously: Rocks?
Akari: Yeah! Yeah yeah yeah, they're pretty good.
Kirishima: NUH-UH-UH! THAT'S NOT FOOD!
...
Izuku: Why don't you tell me your incredibly complicated backstory in an interesting, long winded, monologue?
Toga and or Orenji: Oh, okay. Yes. So, once upon a time...
...
Orenji: Why are you so rude?
Shigaraki: Why are you so goddamn pale? Now, get the fuck away from me!
...
All for One: *long winded monologue*
Izuku: so I'm just gonna let you keep talking and I'm just gonna meditate over here
...
Izuku, trying to escape the LOV: I need to sneak outside the-
Akari, running into him: Oh!
Izuku: Shit!
Akari: Yeah- right back at ya, friend!
Izuku: What are you doing here?
*alarms start going off*
Akari: Uh...
Izuku: Aw, shit, what did you do?!
Akari: I JUST SNEAKED!
Both of them, running: GODDAMMIT!
...
Akari: I'm so glad we're outside. It's been like- a week? I've lost track of time- I'm not sure if I'm a person
...
Green Lightning running into Akari for the first time: Hey. Oh, I haven't met you, twink.
...
Shinsou: What did we just do. Did we do that together? Was that like a gay thing?
Izuku: It's always a gay thing
...
Akari: Hungry. Hungry is a good mood. I've eaten nothing but rocks, as I've said, for a while. Some plants would be a nice change to rocks. ... I think I'm starting to hallucinate, it's been a while- I just keep getting kidnapped
...
Shinsou, looking at the latest news story about what Green Lightning is up to: I've been told. To think about the ocean. When I'm stressed. And I'm looking at that, and I'm real stressed
...
All for One: How many times are you gonna run. I've captured you 17 different times!
Izuku: ...I feel like it's gonna be at least 18.
All for One: ...the audacity of this bitch
...
Hatsume: The beach. ...Count how many sand is here Garby. That's your first mission
Garby's visor: 1... 2... 3... 4...
Natsuki: Why the fuck would you make him do that?
Hatsume: It passes the time
Garby's visor: 5... 6... 7...
Natsuki: It's gonna take so long! Hatsume!
Garby's visor: 8... 9... 10... 11...
Natsuki: It's gonna be so annoying!
Garby's visor: 12... 13...
Hatsume: I'm curious what he thinks the number is
Garby's visor: 14... 15...16...17...
Natsuki: No! He's just gonna be counting forever!
Garby's visor: 18... 19...
Hatsume: Perhaps.
...
Akari: You silly feeble-minded little gay
...
Akari: Oh no. I'm having a flashback
...
Akari: This is. Awkward. I dont know any of you guys, and you're all acting like, "Oh man, it's so sad!" and like, I want to feel sad too, but I don't know you. So like...
...
Izuku: First I have to take care of this... alpha... gamer... incel guy, I guess
Akari: Yep, that's the plot
