15 and 9 for the fanfic mashup
Criminal + Dance AUs, huh.
Okay, let’s see. Looks like you left the relationships open to my choice, so I think I’m gonna pick Klema from Ace Attorney. I wrote a fic for them once that involved flipping typical gender roles and one of them was Ema spinning/dipping Klavier in a dance instead of vice versa. I was big into lindyhop at the time, and ever since then have associated them with that.
So, if I were to write this fic, I’d have Ema and Klavier be dance partners in a lindy competition (they both lead/follow, btw). They met at a lesson they’d both decided to take individually (her for exercise, him because he claimed to want to experience music in a different way), and when they continued taking lessons they started attending dances together and were some of the only people from that first class to take dancing seriously. They learned aerials together since you need a partner for that, expanded into different styles, and just wound up associating a lot and eventually getting into competitions and stuff together. All that is backstory - the fic begins with them already being dance partners.
The criminal part comes in here: neither has told the other much about their life outside of dancing. It's kind of an escape for both of them from their 'real life'. Klavier, because he’s found that he really enjoys going unrecognized. He’s still a famous rockstar/prosecutor in this universe, but he put his hair up and went by a different name the first time since he wanted a break from all the publicity, and he’s really enjoyed it since. Of late, this is an issue since he’s falling pretty hard for Ema and feeling guilty about having lied to her all this time.
Ema is lying to him too, though. She told him that she works in a lab, but hasn’t disclosed what kind exactly: a meth lab or something like that. She fell into the work after flunking the test to become a forensic investigator, mainly because it still uses at least some of her scientific knowledge and it pays well. She needs the money to take care of her sister, who in this verse has a serious illness that is just racking up lots of medical costs. Still, she never wanted to work on things that are used to hurt other people, and whatever justifications she’s been using for making drugs is kind of falling apart for her now that she’s been personally assigned to work on processing Borginian cocoons for use as poison for the local mafia, or something.
Their worlds outside dance are going to collide over the Borginian cocoon smuggling, when Klavier starts to learn about a smuggling ring and Ema is on the other side trying to steal away some of that miracle cure for her sister without getting caught. At the same time, they’re involved in this dance competition, and Klavier is attempting to come clean to her about his identity and also ask her out. She has always found him kind of annoying but likes him anyway, and feels bad about lying to him but certainly doesn’t want to get caught, not now.
Probably she would get in trouble for stealing from her employer, and end up going to him for a safe place to stay despite herself. Then she encounters Daryan as Klavier’s best friend, not as one of the big bosses of the smuggling ring, and they both recognize one another at the same time. In the end, Ema manages to help her sister, Daryan is put away for murder, Klavier and Ema both come clean to one another and wind up getting together, and they do well in the competition. I’d probably have her become a witness and get pardoned just so she doesn’t have to do jail time, and I don’t know how much I would keep her backstory similar to the games (maybe it diverged really early, and Lana was badly injured in the Joe Darke case and that’s led to her medical problems today; maybe it went the same up till Ema graduated high school; I dunno). That would change their relationship too, depending, so I’d have to decide that as well, but... that’s the general sketch of what I think for this prompt.

some stuff about exercise etc
Had my immunotherapy today and it’s all fine. Boring, really.  I was a bit sore and fatigued all weekend from the Abraxane but it’s manageable. Yesterday I forgot both my caffeine and advil in the afternoon so that knocked me down a bit but once I remembered the advil, I was back to normal. Did my walks & a 34 min Zumba. I’m doing Zumba now Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - my own playlist. It’s currently 34 minutes but I will be adding songs, gradually increasing duration.  Yoga on Tue and Thurs. Weekends I see what I feel like - either yoga or some lindyhop choreo, or like last weekend, just walks.
My nuclear bone scan is booked for Thursday. Also on Thursday we are having a big Italian vegan meal delivered! Paliotti’s Westside has a vegan menu and we will be trying out their goodies.
Oh and if anyone is in the cancer boat and looking at evidence for exercise,
"Exercise Guidelines for Cancer Survivors: Consensus Statement from International Multidisciplinary Roundtable"
"Enough evidence was available to conclude that specific doses of aerobic, combined aerobic plus resistance training, and/or resistance training could improve common cancer-related health outcomes, including anxiety, depressive symptoms, fatigue, physical functioning, and health-related quality of life. Implications for other outcomes, such as peripheral neuropathy and cognitive functioning, remain uncertain."
https://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Fulltext/2019/11000/Exercise_Guidelines_for_Cancer_Survivors_.23.aspx#pdf-link
This ties in well with another recommendation I saw recently about supportive care for metastatic breast cancer patients which emphasised that the disease presentation can be cyclical, with patients fluctuating between acute phases with severe illness and more controlled phases. During the stable, controlled phases, pts and the oncology team are encouraged to do everythng possible to build the pt’s strength and endurance.
"In the stable phase, the patient has more time and energy for maintenance or improvement of physical strength and emotional condition through exercise and other wellness activities. Such efforts to maintain and improve quality of life are important in preparation for future acute phases of disease; improvement of physical strength and performance status leads to better survival outcome.(37-40 ) Because in the acute phase of disease, patients have to focus on the urgent difficulties in front of them, patients and caregivers must try to maintain or improve their condition while in the stable phase."
https://ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.1200/OP.20.00622
Kida K, Olver I, Yennu S, Tripathy D, Ueno NT. Optimal Supportive Care for Patients With Metastatic Breast Cancer According to Their Disease Progression Phase. JCO Oncol Pract. 2021 Jan 22:OP2000622. doi: 10.1200/OP.20.00622. Epub ahead of print. PMID: 33492987.
So anyway, consensus is to go while the going is good, build up as much strength as possible to weather whatever lies ahead.

Understand that life is an experience to grow and evolve. Every decade has a core theme that we need to grow into. If we miss it, it will be hard to catch up. We can’t live our 20ties in our 60ties nor our 70ties in our 40ties. In life, the ultimate impact you will have is not about you. It is the difference you made in the life of others, moving them forward or contributing to their life. In the grand scheme of things, all experiences are just that - experiences. We learn and evolve through them - the great, the good, the bad, the ugly. The key in overcoming every challenge is to learn how to self-regulate without numbing yourself out, shutting down your heart or emotions. This is true mastery. Best wishes I am so excited that this year, I was so closed to one our leaders in the world of dance that's #Lindyhop, SoloJazz, Charleston, #Blues and #Tapdance that's @chestera.whitmore who also featured on commercial advertise with @usher to learn more about the culture of these dances. Soon I break the news which he told me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 anyway I need also to thank @mikaelahellsten who gave me advice of being close to leaders like #Chester if I want to learn how this culture and the history of the dance. Much more to be shared with my students in Uganda 🇺🇬 I have started to receive choreographies from different teachers to share with my students in Uganda 🇺🇬 when I get back that's so exciting that the community is growing everyday. @chestera.whitmore @blacklindyhf @frankiemanningfoundation @alessandra.cant @anduze_jazz @lindyhopchamps @ilhc.europe #lindyhopperslife #lindyhopper #Lindyhop #solojazz #solojazzmoves #solocharleston #charlestonsc #solotraveler #solojazzdance #dancelife #danceinschools #communityswing #1920s #1930s #swingdancers #SwingDanceUganda #swingaroundtheworld #OkurutGeorge (at Stockholm, Sweden) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg_vMmYLepl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

House by SW. I'm sorry to miss this woman and everyone else at Lindyfest this weekend. According to the x-ray results I just got today, I've had a sprained ankle all this time. I probably should have done that earlier. Although it was super tempting to go to Houston anyway. One of the reasons is because Lindyfest is one of the few events that tries to actively connect and contextualize Lindy Hop within the greater scope of African American culture by offering classes in House and Detroit Ballroom and Chicago Stepping at Lindyfest alongside the regular offerings you'll see at most other events like Balboa or St. Louis Shag. They might not necessarily help you win a competition, but there is a value to learning them that can't be quantified by bpm's or contest placements. And if you're not at Lindyfest, look around and see what your area has to offer. You won't know what you'll find until you make the effort to experience it. #house #swing #swingout #lindyhop #urbandance #hiphop #gh4 #gh4photography #lumixmasters #dancephotography #dancephotographer #dance #portraitphotographer #dcportraitphotographer #dancedc #dcdance #dc #dctography #exposeddc #igdc #streetdancerproject Dance Of, By and For the People A J.S.Almonte Production http://jsalmonteproductions.com/ https://instagram.com/j_s_almonte/ http://streetdancerproject.tumblr.com/ https://www.facebook.com/JSAlmonteWandering

When I decided to stop taking everything so seriously and started to smile at what happened, life changed. That does not mean that I do not stress about things anymore or worry about nothing, but it just affects me less. I know I will die. I know that, at some point, everything I do in my entire life will be forgotten and will be meaningless. So, with nothing to gain, and everything to lose, why would I chose to be miserable? Why would I chose to do the things I did not want to do? Why would I not live the life I wanted? To me, that means laughing, experiencing everything to the fullest, and not taking things so seriously, but it might mean something different to you. The point to this post is that it might be time to stop worrying so much about this life you live, for you will not make it out alive anyway, and instead to enjoy whatever time you have. Get the most out of every moment. Be courageous enough to go for everything you want. And let your life be dictated by joy, opportunity and courage, rather than stress, worry and fear. You only get to live one life, only one chance at every moment; do not waste them by being too serious about it. After seriously four days of classes of dance learning from different amazing teachers and also sharing what's going on in Uganda 🇺🇬 🇺🇬 even getting enough rest from a long drive that's #Alés to #Lyon, France like 7hrs on car 🚗🚗 then I settled to share my experience starting from this post and others which I will be posting about @anduze_jazz which I can recommend you to attend if you are a dancer who could love to take your dance career or also understanding the heritage of African Americans life through #Lindyhop, #Tap dance #Soft Shoe #JazzRock #Solo Jazz and also talks about great dancers and musicians who kept the dance alive then why we should give respect to them as we also keep carrying off the dance on generations to generations now. I need to appreciate the organizers then @blacklindyhf and @frankiemanningfoundation For giving me this opportunity to keep learning then go back to Uganda 🇺🇬 and share it with different dancers more the next generation. #AnduzeJazzDanceCamp #Jazz #Paris #Rock (at Place de la République (Paris)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgKW3yqrFFR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

First time ever introduction to Swing Dance in Mbale District. I'm so excited 😃😁 how few dancers whom I have met in Mbale felt interested and motivated about swing dance after having a good interaction and watching some of the videos, I did with the children in Kampala. Then the competition of @lindyhopchamps which children of Heart of Dance African Rhythm represented Uganda 🇺🇬 and they managed to be second in position, the first time ever. But one of the question, which I was asked by these dancers was "How will they benefit from the Swing Dance because it's still new to them and as a dancer, you need to go for something which will benefit you in your life?" Anyway just stay tuned on what will be coming up soon about our first meeting dance video of swing which was choreographed by #Jeans and just all about fun and the feeling of the music. Not forgetting the people and the swing with Lindyhop community for standing with me on this project of reaching out to different communities of Uganda 🇺🇬 implementing #Lindyhop and #Swing dance to young generations. And last but not least I need to thank my brother Meya Herbert for organising this community to be first in Mbale to get into swing dance. #Share #Like #Donate https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-okurut-george-and-family @Taw @time2swing @vintageglamourlife @rusty.frank @andrej_hermlin @snaileybailey @jenhodgebass @Ariandsimon @alpharhythmkings @awhite211 @lindyhopchamps @frankiemanningfoundatio @laswingdanceposse @jazzy_feet_solo @monasunshine @lindyhopchamps @miss_tammisavoy @tasha_b_va @swingtv_tr @blacklindyhf #ILHCjam #swingdanceuganda #lindy #Charleston #ilhc #ilhc2020 #swingdance #swingdancing #solojazz #swingout #lindyhoplife #InspireMeAfricaInitiative #SwingDanceUganda (at Bugema, Mbale, Uganda) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUr9PAooltr/?utm_medium=tumblr

Whenever I go silent sometimes just know that something hot than fire 🔥🔥 is coming anyway it was really so great to have a class through zoom with the children and the video will be dropping soon for you to enjoy too. I still appreciate so much those who worked with us throughout 2020 until now and you are keeping sharing with us in all ways so that we understand the roots and the right way, we can fuse our traditional dances with lindyhop. Our class was taught by #Rusty on zoom and it was really a challenge and so much encouragement for it to happen because of our time zone always but with the technology in the world things are happening like magic.
