I let go of my past I`ve all done things that I aren’t proud of, or I have made decisions that I either regret or would rather forget in life. I am no exception. My life is filled with lost opportunities, missed chances, stupid choices, and near misses. The one thing I lost sight of while I held on to the past is this: my past does NOT have to equal my future! I can change my life, reinvent myself and start afresh ANYTIME I WANT! My mental baggage could weigh me down and make the rest of my journey through life a real slog. But, I decided to LET IT GO! Now, I don`t look back on all those things that happened and regret them. They were simply choices I made and I did the best I could with the person that I was. So many of us get into the trap of equating our past with who we are. LET IT GO! You can`t change what happened! It`s done! The future, however, is unwritten. While I can`t rewrite my past, I can create a masterpiece with what`s ahead of me, no matter what age I am. It`s up to me! Thank you so much for reading! Never Surrender On What You Truly Want. Find a way, not an excuse. Find a reason to do it, not to give up on it. Create a path where there is none, because you will only regret it otherwise! There is always a reason not to do it and always a way to fail, but there is also always a way to succeed and a reason to do it. This was the place, where the magic of #LindyHop and #Swingdance started from and am happy to be back to give it out to more dancers, who are willing to take it like the way I did it. From all other districts that I went through only #Kitgum district as tried the best to engage girls into the dance and am so happy for the improvement that. As today, we start our workshops with dancers of Gulu. We got an amazing teachers who will be sharing with these dancers through zoom from USA that's @time2swing and that gives us the love and unity is the community. We just danced to the music." ~ Frankie Manning Why am relating it to the Frankie Manning quotes about is that one of my students from Lira asked me some questions like, "I should tell them about the music of swing dance." "What is Swing and Lindyhop?" So now am requesting people are well informed with these knowledge of Swing music 🎶 so that we can have a zoom class with my students. We are so happy that now, the dancers in Lira District are so much interested in #Lindyhop and #Swingdance. But we have questions here and I need some help with them. Among these communities, girls are really few represented and now what should be done to encourage more girls to start coping up with dancing like Lindyhop in Uganda 🇺🇬 because now during my classes I do have 17 students but only three are girls and the rest are boys. Challenge yourself harder! Being uncomfortable doesn’t just mean “Oh… well this is a new experience.” When you get uncomfortable you should feel an incredible amount of resistance, you should be incredibly nervous and think that this is something you cannot see yourself doing. Go out into the middle of town and start yelling at people everything that is in your mind, all the awesome advice you want to share and what you think is wrong with the world. Talk to a person you believe is so far out of your league that they will not even look at you, and do not stop talking to them until they give you their number. Help a homeless person by standing near them all day and asking people for just $100. “Hey… could you spare a hundred dollars?” Call into live podcasts or TV shows and talk to the host like they are your best friend. Ask your friend to set you up on a blind-date with a potential romantic or business interest. These are just a few things you can do that will really make you uncomfortable. If you want to challenge yourself then do something that you do not want to do. That is what it means to go outside your comfort zone. Everything else is you just diddle-dawdling around, running away from actually ever doing it. November is my birthday month and I would love to celebrate it with the children and am asking for anyone willing to support me to make it more colorful with children so that we can have a big lunch then cake cutting with them. What can I teach myself that can be useful in my life? 1. Accept the fact that not all friends are meant to stay in your life and many just want to use you. 2. Make sure you finish whatever stuff you have started, you waste more time by giving up on plans or anything real soon. 3. If you want to be perfect in anything, don’t forget to invest at least 10,000 hours. It could be driving, learning a new language etc. 4. Never replace some important tasks with urgent tasks! 5. If you are still a student in college, make sure you carry extensive research on topics more than whatever your professor gives to you. 6. As a man, be at least be settled in life before falling in love. 7. Even though taking risks is good, make sure you take calculated risks most especially when it involves a decision that might impact your life. Same thing with the settling of goals. There is a difference between realistic and unrealistic goals. There is also a difference between calculated and uncalculated risks! 8. Learn how to read paychecks and receipts anytime you make purchases. That's is the easiest way to start learning about how to manage and control money. 9. If nobody is jealous of you, then you are not really progressing in life. 10. It was of great honour for me and my brother @vascoandrewate to share our dance career and the cultural background we come from. Understand that life is an experience to grow and evolve. Every decade has a core theme that we need to grow into. If we miss it, it will be hard to catch up. We can’t live our 20ties in our 60ties nor our 70ties in our 40ties. In life, the ultimate impact you will have is not about you. It is the difference you made in the life of others, moving them forward or contributing to their life. In the grand scheme of things, all experiences are just that - experiences. We learn and evolve through them - the great, the good, the bad, the ugly. The key in overcoming every challenge is to learn how to self-regulate without numbing yourself out, shutting down your heart or emotions. This is true mastery. Everyone is going to leave you eventually. Life , the world, and people aren’t like what they are in fiction. So don’t raise your expectations that high. Um. So I learned this one the hard way. I mean, who doesn’t want a friend that would fall into Tartarus with them? Or who would always have your back no matter what and protect you when you’re in trouble? Sure, some people are like that to a certain extent. But no one is going to go completely out of their way for you. People tend not to do things that don’t benefit themselves. The only rare exception that I know of would be people in the military (or sometimes cops), who do often give their lives for their camarades. But regular people? Forget about it. This means you have to look out for yourself. No one is going to do that for you. If on the off chance they do, it won’t be forever. People come and go in life, and there’s not a lot you can do to stop it. But that’s okay. You’ll meet more and better people. Well, hopefully.
