Alcohol is a depressant. 

You remembered the God awful lecture your boyfriend had given you when you woke up one Sunday morning with this feeling of existential dread, and nothing to pin it to. A ramble about how alcohol can temporarily increase the body's production of dopamine and serotonin when entering, causing a worse crash of both chemicals when it leaves. Leaving you, evidently, depressed and anxious after a big night. 

You knew that. 

You also knew how quick you were to seclude within your mind when you were with people. Too many drinks and not enough social interaction tended to lead to your own isolation, sitting on the outer edge of the booth, absentmindedly playing with the charm on the end of your phone. 

The room no longer spun the way it had an hour ago. You missed when it spun. When it spun, you weren't thinking about how little you had to contribute to the conversations your friends were having. You weren't tallying up how many drinks you had already drank, then falling flat when you realised you couldn't remember, and that was a thought more horrifying than knowing it was over ten. You were fun, when the room was a carousel. 

Now, it's simply overwhelming. Loud chattering from both your table, and the surrounding ones. Clinking of glasses at the bar. A sports game on the television across the room. Balls on a pool table being dispersed for the first time in a game. Dancing feet. Music. People. So many fucking people.

Your phone buzzes against the table, and you pick it up before any of your friends could turn their heads to see where the vibrations were coming from. You figured they were too drunk to conclude it was you, anyways. Or to care. 

Spencer had texted you fifteen minutes ago to check in on you, and though it wasn't long ago, you not responding immediately in a flurry of half strung together sentences and emojis was worrying for him. That was probably why his name was now lighting up your screen, a funny photo of him mid-bite of an ice cream as his contact photo, enlarged. 

You hadn't responded for no reason other than the fact that you had no will to. Which should've been a big enough red flag to yourself that you should text him, and you should ask if he can pick you up. Thankfully, he loved to prove how well he could read you, and he was calling you anyways. 

"Hi," you mumble into the phone, angling your body away from your friends, hand held up to your other ear to block out some of the noise the best you could. 

"Hi," he parrots back to you. "You okay?"

An automatic yes manifests on your tongue, but you're quick enough to keep it to yourself before you can lie to him. Instead, you let out a quiet, "No."

He seems to have expected that answer, for he leaves no silence in between your admission and his response. "What can I do to help?" He also seems to be expecting your hesitance at asking him for anything that would require him to move, because he adds, "I can pick you up. Do you want me to pick you up?"

"Yes. Please?"

"I'm already leaving," he tells you, and you can hear his shoes against the wooden floor of his apartment to confirm that. "Did something happen? Are you safe?"

"No, nothing happened. I'm safe," you reassure him. "I started feeling sick so I stopped drinking an hour ago. Now I'm just sad."

"You remember what I told you about it being a depressant?"

"Vividly," you mutter, and while it isn't meant to be funny, you hear him huff a short laugh anyways. It makes you feel a little better. 

"It's important to know," he defends. "I'm sorry I shared important information with you."

"Mm."

Your lack of a verbal response was expected, but he still hated the sound of it regardless. You heard him sigh. "I have to hang up now. I'll be there in forty minutes. Will you be okay?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. I love you."

"Love you too."

No matter how much time had passed, your head lifted every time the door — that your group was so conveniently close to — opened, letting in a rush of cool air and sobering you up with every hit of it. 

True to his word, Spencer was entering the bar after forty minutes, face scrunching up at the sudden onslaught of noises and visual stimuli. Same boat as you, only he had not a drop of alcohol in his body. At least you weren't crazy about it being overstimulating. 

"This is why I don't go to bars," he says once he's approached your booth, and you had stood up next to you, his hand finding an automatic place on your waist. 

"It's usually not this bad," you tell him, but he decides not to ask you anything else upon hearing just how exhausted your voice sounds. You're grateful for that.

The goodbye to your friends is quick, Spencer rattling off a lie about him needing you home for he had work early the next morning, and you only had one key to the apartment. Even the friends who knew that wasn't the case didn't comment on it, and you made a pointless mental note to thank them for it later. You knew you wouldn't. 

The drive home was even faster. Silence, aside from the rush of the wind from your slightly cracked window as Spencer drove, that helped the sick feeling in your stomach from the alcohol you had consumed. 

It didn't seem to help the hollowness of your chest, though.

You weren't sure if anything would, really. A chemical imbalance in your brain — even one as temporary as the deflation from being drunk — was hard to fix without medication. It would go away, yes. But then you would make the mistake of drinking once more, and you would find yourself back in this brain peeling predicament. 

You showered alone. Despite Spencer's offer to join you, and your own personal desire for him to be there with you. It didn't help your fogged mind at all, and you were exiting the bathroom feeling like you had retreated further into your bones. Every movement felt clunky, your skin a heavy coat to your skeleton, restricting your movement down to short shuffles and barely lifted arm movements. 

He was reading when you reentered your bedroom, and you've never seen him put a book and his glasses back on his bedside table faster. He looked visibly tired. Keeping himself awake a seemingly difficult struggle, that you could feel your body heading towards to as well. 

"Hey," he says as you climb into the bed, and he's very patient as you figure out what position you want your bodies in. Head on his chest, but next to him, you had decided on, and his fingers entangled into your hair.

"Hi," you mumble, staring up at the ceiling, counting brush strokes of the paint, as if it were possible to.

"Penny for your thoughts?"

You huff at the phrase, tilting your head upwards so your eyes could land on him. "Do you have a penny?"

He pauses, then angles his head closer towards yours. "Okay, kiss for your thoughts?"

"That'll just distract me."

"Is that what you want?"

You should say no. Arguably the last thing you should be doing when you're sad is let intimacy with your boyfriend distract you. But then again, you're not the best advocate for healthy coping mechanisms anyways. 

"Maybe."

"Maybe?" he muses, and his lips brush against yours. Your heart flutters. 

"I don't really know what I want," you settle on telling him, honestly. "I want my brain to shut up."

His body deflates beneath you, and you feel guilt chip away up your spine at the killing of the less depressing atmosphere. 

"Sorry," you mumble.

"No. It's good. Be honest with me," he reassures you, quietly. His fingers tap at your scalp, "What's going on up here?"

"I'll cry if I try to verbalise it."

"Crying's good for you, you know," he hums.

"I'm pretty sure I still have eyeliner in my waterline. I'll just stain your sheets," you retort. 

"Yeah, probably. That's fine."

You're silent for a few moments, gathering your thoughts in your brain the best you could despite yourself, before you sit up, his hand dropping to the bed beside you.

"I just don't like being... here? Out? I don't know. I'm just really sick of being sad every time I drink. Is there something wrong with me? Did you get sad whenever you drank? Everyone else I know loves going out for drinks because they have fun and they're giggly drunks, or they're clingy drunks. And if I drink too much then I'm a fucking sad drunk, and I'm the only person I know that gets that way. I want to be normal."

He's silent your entire rant, and then some, waiting for your heaving chest to slow, having caught the few tears that slipped down your cheeks. You were grateful — you needed that time.

He reaches a hand out, and you let him tug you back down to the bed, slotting your body atop his own, just so he could see you properly. 

"To answer your question, no, I didn't get sad when I drank," he says, brushing your hair out of your face, before his hands rest on either side of your face. "But I wasn't really happy, either. I just talked more."

"You already talk a lot."

His lips twitch. "I do. Double whatever you think my worst is, and that was me drunk. Focus on the part where I said I wasn't a happy drunk, please."

"But you weren't sad. So there is something wrong with me."

"No, there's not. Alcohol is a depressant," he punctuates his words with a kiss to your nose, which you gratefully accept despite your emotions. "Are you willing to give up alcohol as a whole?" 

"My friends will think I'm boring, then."

He hesitates in his response, but ultimately settles on asking, "Do you think I'm boring because I don't drink?"

"No. Obviously not. And you have a real reason for not drinking, so—"

"—and being sad isn't a real reason to not drink?"

Taken aback by his sudden sternness, you go quiet, breath hitching within your throat. He was right, ultimately. No reason is reason enough. You knew that. 

Sensing your discomfort at his tone, he expels a breath of air and lowers his hands down to your hips. His voice drops to something a little less harsh, as he murmurs, "You are allowed to not want to drink alcohol if you don't like the way it makes you feel. If your friends think you're boring for that, then they're not worth it."

You silently nod your head, beginning to curse your emotional regulators. For while you had kept your tears at bay for the vast majority of this conversation, it seemed all it took was the gentle rubbing of circles onto your hip bones, and a fact checked piece of life advice from your boyfriend to make you cry. 

"Sorry," you sniffle, dropping your head to the crook of his neck to hide your newly tear stricken face. 

"Crying's good for you," he repeats his earlier words, and feels you nod your head. "You don't have to decide tonight. I'd encourage you not to, actually. You're technically still intoxicated."

"I'm sober," you protest, weakly. 

"Okay, honey." He's only agreeing with you to wane any further argument. "I don't think your friends will think you're boring, though, if that's any help."

"I don't think they will either."

He nods his head, and you're relaxing against him a little more. 

"Are you just trying to not be the only loser who doesn't drink?" you mumble, voice muffled by his skin.

"You've caught me."

He relishes in the laugh that leaves your lips, and he places the gentlest of kisses on the side of your head, which prompts you to lift it to look at him again. 

"You're not a loser for not drinking," you say, and his lips pull into a smile. 

He leans his head up, brushing his lips against yours, despite the mix of mint toothpaste and alcohol on your tongue. "I know. You wouldn't be either."

"I know."

➛ “it’s okay.” you assured him, brushing his bangs out of his face as he looked up at you with those trademark puppy dog eyes of his. “you’re doing so good for me.” you could feel his hands squeeze down on your thighs at the praise, a strained exhale leaving his lips. you had to admit, there wasn’t a hotter sight than this— seeing min-su melt in your hands like this.

Shadow Milk Huh!? His ears perk up and he's quick to try and listen in, it's not that he's jealous, he already knows he's your favourite in this game but you play other games? Who is it, he's curious. Is it someone like him? Or a character with a different personality.

Hmm, Gallagher? After hearing you talk about him more, he's become more interested. Tarot card symbolism, he's a fictional character...within a game? And he's invited other characters to all tie in together to save a place? Now he wants to meet this Gallagher, he doubts they'd really see eye to eye but meeting someone who played a part in a bigger plan? That'll be interesting.

Though with how much you talk about him, he doubts a meeting will matter, he's getting all the information he needs from your voice. A much better way to learn about someone in his opinion (he's bias)

Pure Vanilla He's interested to hear about this other game you play, listening intently as you rant about it, well more specifically a character. He'd love to meet this character that has also peaked your interest.

What's his name? Luocha? Oh he seems like a nice ma-...what do you mean he has a God in his coffin? Well...he isn't gonna judge you at all for characters you like but he did not expect that bit of information to be true. He's a bit more intrigued by the game though, he wants to know of the other characters you seem to favour.

Hearing you talk on and on about your favourite characters makes him want to listen, he already knows most in his "game" and if he doesn't. He can easily meet them. But hearing about other games and their characters? How interesting...

Black Sapphire It takes him a moment before realising you're talking about a different game rather than theirs. He doesn't exactly mind though, now he can take what you say and talk about said character too as if they're a cookie as well. He's not technically lying, the character is real...just...not in their world.

Besides, who wouldn't want to know about a "cookie" trying to recreate a, what was it? Emanator? Ruan Mei is her name right? Her story seems fascinating and perfect to tell all cookie kind, he's sure it'll get some cookies scared and others excited and he's gonna love to see the two of them argue.

He'd listen to you talk about whichever character peaks your interest any day, he won't get jealous that quickly. Besides, he's probably heard you rant about him to your friends before anyways. As long as he still knows he's one of your favourites. It's all good.

Fire Spirit What's that? Gotta speak up, oh a new game? He wants to know all about. If it's peaked his beloved "God" interest to the point of you gushing about it. It must be amazing. And he's interested in hearing about the characters as well.

Oh that Kafka girl seems quite interesting. A woman who can't feel fear? He'd love to test how far that lack of fear goes, you said she wanted to experience it right? He'd love to show of his flames and see how much of it she can handle. Besides, he's sure you'd love to have 2 of your favourites on the same screen. You probably talk about him when you're playing that other game anyways.

He'll love to hear you talk about more characters, especially ones that seem like they'd enjoy the heat! Haha, he may not be able to meet them. Perhaps they're not self-aware like himself but oh does he want too.

Frost Queen she doesn't care at first. Not that she doesn't enjoy hearing your rambles but she doesn't exactly have any feelings towards who you talk about and the game you're now talking about. What matters to her is that you still play "her" game and favour her.

She can't help but listen to you speak of various characters backstory though, especially when it seems like the characters past has put you in distraught. Jingliu being one of them. She'll admit, her backstory is quite interesting, and she's strong. While she hasn't seen how she fights, your description shall be enough for now. She's especially interested in the Mara struck bit of her.

While, unlike most of the others, she wouldn't be actively listening to your rants, certain characters can and will make her ears perk up as she'll quickly come and see what the news is about.

Vee sighed as she slouched on the couch, looking over at Shelly, who was deep in focus on her newest sewing project, then looked at the clock. Shanon won't be home for a few more hours... She can't go make food for Shelly if she literally just ate, and fought the microwave for burning her nuggets again, she looked over at the tv and trembled before she looked back at the clock. There's gotta be something she can do... Right? Vee sat up and looked at Shelly again, her antennae lowering in jealousy when she paid absolutely no mind to her, then she just got off the couch and stormed off. There has to be something she's still good at... There has to be... Vee's antennae lowered even more at the idea of being completely useless, her tail dragging on the floor behind her, she really hated even thinking she was useless. But... Wasn't she? She shook her head to clear her thoughts as she opened the closet, though her spirits immediately lifted again when she found something she probably could do. There was an old wooden guitar just sitting in the back, the strings still attached and everything. She looked around to make sure her thievery wouldn't be caught before she very carefully picked it up, quickly rushing off with it close and went right to her and Shelly's shared room, closing the door behind her with her foot. She'll fix the guitar and impress Shanon and get extra cuddles out of it, she won't be useless then! She'd make someone happy, she'd make a good difference, she'd be happy again. Vee couldn't help but grin to herself at the idea, sitting down on her bed as she looked over the strings, then nodded to herself. They should be fine, for now anyways. Probably should replace them soon, but she didn't have anything to replace them with, so they'll have to do. She soon tried plucking a string, and cringed harshly at how out of tune it was. She should've expected it, but honestly, that was worse than she'd expected. So she started tuning it quietly, humming a little bit to herself as she did so, following her tuning programming to help her. Once it was done, she tried it out again, looking pleased when it sounded right again. She then looked around, seeing that Shelly still wasn't there, then started playing one of the old songs that would play during her game shows on it, looking pleased as she figured it out really quickly. Probably because she was programmed to remember different music queues for different segments... She would be lying if she said she wasn't having fun doing this though. She soon went from just segments of songs to playing full songs for herself, her mic tail wagging along as she hummed to her own music, feeling at peace with herself yet again for the first time since Gardenview had shut down. Before she knew it, she was singing along to her own music, head bopping a little as she got lost in her own hobby, one she had forgotten. She'd loved doing this so much whenever Veronica would bring over her own guitar to keep her busy when they didn't have a game show to record that day. She sang her heart out as she played to who she believed was nobody, feeling like everything was okay yet again, until a string broke. Vee froze when it happened, expecting that but also was startled by it, well, was startled more by the world coming back to her than anything else. Standing in front of her now was a completely lovestricken Shelly who was so stunned she just covered her mouth with one hand and had huge eyes, her project now on the floor beside her - a plush pterodactyl. Vee looked at it, then at her, then at the guitar again. Oh god.

"Uh... I didn't steal this... Or anything." Vee muttered, which seemed to snap Shelly out of her own trance as she jolted a little.

"No no, I, I just heard you in here and... You have such a pretty voice... You sing like an angel, your guitar skills are very impressive too, you should show me how to play sometime!" Shelly clarified as her tail wagged excitedly, while Vee just stared, ignoring the obvious over heating warning as she looked away from her. She knew she had to blushing a lot... She didn't need anything telling her that much, especially not after being caught like that. She couldn't lie, she was really surprised that Shelly didn't mind her stealing, nor did Shanon when she walked in in her work uniform.

"There you two are, I just- oh you found my old guitar, that's neat! Does it still work?" She asked instead of questioning the robot on why she stole it, which just got a confused stare from her... If they could even tell where she was looking with her screen being so covered in blush from embarrassment. Shelly nodded instead, simply pointing out the broken string, which made Shanon nod in understanding as she walked in and carefully took it from the very embarrassed robot.

"I'll fix that, no problem. I just never really got really good so I kinda forgot about it after a year of trying... I'm glad someone has a use for it." Shanon explained as she walked out with it, while Vee just remained still and incredibly confused. Why wasn't... Anyone mad... For her snooping? Is this welcomed behavior? Is she allowed to be curious and explore here? She looked at Shelly for answers, though Shelly just seemed confused by how unsettled Vee was.

"What? Shanon doesn't mind if we do anything, ya know? Just as long as we don't break it, she'll let us play around with things. Weren't you allowed to mess around?" Shelly asked, and Vee slowly shook her head. She had to be that quiet, perfect tv host, she had to be prim and fresh for any event, she was always scolded for doing too much, she could barely even go outside of Gardenview to stargaze without getting a whole lecture on keeping clean. She couldn't embarrass Delilah, she couldn't, she would've been demolished by her figuratively if she did. And possibly literally...

"Haha, no, I was expected to know everything, I couldn't really do much of anything when everyone was working. I actually was yelled at for doing too much... That's why I asked for help moving boxes so often. I was one of the most popular toons, so I had to be miss prim and perfect all the time. God it was rough... I was so happy they'd actually let me do shit when I was in your museum..." Vee explained, grabbing one of her antennae and messing with it in her hands.

"If they didn't let me hang out with you... I would've lost it ages ago... Thank you for helping me through all that..." She added, looking over at Shelly's now concerned face. She then looked back down, though she was surprised to now find Shelly's hands holding one of her own.

"We'll work on that then, for now, why don't we just relax for a while, maybe you'll be able to play her guitar again!" Shelly suggested, and Vee just nodded, slowly getting off the bed and moving her hand away, just to give the other a hug. Shelly of course hugged back, pulling her close and rubbing her back a little. Vee couldn't help but close her eyes and relax to it... It felt nice.

"That sounds nice... Thanks Shells." She murmured, getting a simple nod in reply. Neither of them moved though, they just stayed close in each other's arms, enjoying the other's company until Shanon came back. That's when Vee moved away, while Shelly just looked over at her now caretaker before she bent over and picked up the plush she dropped.

"Oh, I forgot, I made this for you! I came to give it to you actually, I really hope you like it!" Shelly said as she gave Vee the purple plush pterodactyl she had made, and Vee very carefully took it and put it right... On her head. Shanon blinked a few times at that, while Shelly just giggled, knowing that just meant she liked it. Vee just smiled at Shelly, her tail wagging again, and Shelly just smiled back at her as she giggled at her goofy girlfriend, soon taking her hand as she looked over at Shanon. Shanon just waved, and Shelly waved back.

WOAH DAWG. Your art has inspired me more than I can even express. My hardcore Star Trek phase started right around this time last year. Like, obviously I knew what Star Trek was, but I’d never seen it, so I started with TOS, and after the first three episodes, I was like, yeah, okay, Spock and Kirk are super gay, but their boyfriend Bones is obviously their boyfriend, too. 

So I looked up the fated “McSpirk”, and your art popped up. Boom. Life changed. 

To make a long story short, I practiced and practiced, and slowly (kind of) learned how to draw them (totally based off of your style, yeah, I’m sorry bro there’s like a lot of plagiarised versions of your drawings in old sketchbooks. 😬Don’t worry though, they’re really bad, so no one would mistake them for the original)

And ALSO like a good chunk of my fanfiction has been inspired by your art. So… thank you!

I still have played all the way through the story part of the game about these two characters so I don’t know exactly what happens but I know the vague idea

So cookie run kingdom is a mobile game that is taking up all of my phone storage. It has a TON of characters who are cookies. Basically, the cookies were created by the Witches who are like their gods basically. In the beginning the witches created 5 characters that were like special and super powerful. Each cookie had its own virtue, knowledge, volition, happiness, change, and solidarity.

The world was pretty good and awesome for a while but then the cookies, being all powerful, turned evil. Their virtues distorted into deceit, apathy, sloth, destruction, and silence. These evil cookies became known as the “Beast cookies” and they went on an evil crusade and made the world horrible, so the witches sealed them away in a tree and took their “soul jams” (which are the sources and their power) and distilled them into their purest forms, truth, resolution, freedom, abundance, and passion. They gave the soul jams to five new cookies (the Ancients) and then everyone lived happily ever after!

Except no! Because eventually, the beast cookies ESCAPED their prison!

The art I did is about 2 cookies, shadow milk cookie who is the one being evil up top. He’s the Beast cookie if deceit who is the foil to pure vanilla cookie who is below in 3 of his different outfits. Pure vanilla is the Ancient of truth. So like they’re connected because pure vanillas power was shadow milks power and shadow milk is angry and wants it back.

So once the beasts escape they have their own little domains they go to I think? Idk why they didn’t just like take over the world? Maybe that did happen? Idk but anyways, pure vanilla is trying to figure out how to get rid of the beasts so he goes to the “spire of knowledge” to find information, BUT the spire of knowledge is ACTUALLY the “spire of deceit” and its shadow milks home basically.

Shadow milk keeps pure vanilla prisoner and like reveals that he’s been manipulating pure vanilla his whole life through the souljam and idk it’s all kinda gay and then pure vanilla gets depressed and stuff and becomes truthless recluse and other stuff happens and then he becomes “awakened” which is the design in the right and he tries to get shadow milk to have a redemption arc i think? Idk I haven’t gotten through the part where he’s in the spire yet so I’ll update with more details later

favorite thing about them: oh god. where do i begin. lucy’s character is one that i admit i didn’t examine too closely at first but i’m so pleased i did because she’s amazing. she’s such a brilliant subversion of so many romantic tropes especially in regards to her relationship with atsushi. the fact that she’s set up to be the conventional damsel in distress and a cut-and-paste version of him, but then throughout their relationship she turns all of that on its head. becoming the hero she needed when atsushi fails to save her, having her development pushed by a male character instead of existing solely to further his, her relationship with kyouka developing as a criticism of love triangles/rivals — instead of fighting with another girl over a guy it’s their mutual care for him that brings them together and keeps them strong. her and atsushi looking after each other in each other’s love languages — she risks her life to save him, an act which is so important to him he feels it’s his life’s purpose, while he is open and vulnerable with her — the one thing she struggles with most. yeah. also her design is gorgeous, one of the best in the series imo

First individual characters headcannons (most based on ghostbusters tubmlr rp lore and also my au), and then ill do the character dynamics and relationships!

Possessor:

Uses they/them and it/its pronouns (very very rarely he/him)

The most chaotic mf you’ll ever meet. If it was a human they’d have adhd times 1000.

Possesses things like dolls and stuff, sometimes cause its fun for them to have a ‘body’ so to speak, and sometimes because being a creepyass doll to scare Lars and Lucky is really fun for it. 

Loves tennis and tennis balls, but doesnt like badminton. Doesnt go fast enough for them.

Likes possessing and inserting themselves into videogames, like mario and platformers. Also minecraft.

A little bit of a gen z or gen alpha ipad kid. Likes meme songs because playing them drives the lab staff nuts. 

A little touch starved. On the rare occasion that its finally calmed down and staying still, its probably cuddling with one of the other ghosts in the lab, or Lars or Lucky (or Sparkplug).

Just like Possessor- these guys need some ritalin or something. Or melatonin. Just get them to calm down please the lab staff are begging you-

They are pretty much smaller, cuter versions of the gremlins. Chaotic and potentially dangerous, but distract them enough or contain them and they’ll be fine.

They are also like middle school aged boys- one or two of them are fine on their own, but in large groups they are very obnoxious. (this is coming from a middle school aged child btw lmao)

In the rp universe the reason they deleted their blog is they simply got really bored with it- they all have fairly short attention spans, the staff were surprised they kept the blog up that long.  

Also kinda ipad kids, they will sit still if you show them cocomelon. (Lucky has taken to showing them better kids shows though, like Bluey and Octonauts, and Magic Schoolbus).

Slimer and Muncher sometimes sneak the other ghosts out of the lab to go watch movies, like little field trips. They all think Lars doesn't know, but Slimer has secretly been telling him just so he’s aware and for safety reasons an’ stuff. 

Lucky almost stuck Muncher in a containment cell once when she first met him again after Oklahoma.

KC CUP APRIL 2025: WITCHES AND PLANTS VERSUS THE META ❄️🌿

Or: KC Cup experience as told by some guy who just cannot let it go. ⬅️ I'm that guy. let's GO

starting this off with a shout out to my WINDWITCHESSSS we killed it this month oh my GOD. I climbed from lvl 10 to 19 with these girlies and it was amazing. I feel like I really got comfortable with the deck this month and was able to strategize quickly with it. I truly adore this deck and I love love love playing as my beautiful Rin so it's just a great time. I had a number of incredibly satisfying wins with this deck and that's what really counts between the meta nightmares. WINDWITCHES 4 EVER!!! 💚❄️💚

per usual here is my decklist ‼️I went through so much trial and error throughout (aka figuring out which cards I needed to deal w/ backrow (hi free fiendish chain !!!!)) but I ultimately went with the double MST / triple BOE. for me, this deck is a little better going first, just because depending on what's in my hand it can be hard to play through disruption. but when this deck gets rocking and rolling GOD IS IT FUN. AND FUNNY.

ultimately I did end up maxing out with my predaplants because they are a better match for the wave of terror that is RDA players 💔 Yuri simply will never get to rest as long as I'm still playing duel links. Jack decks are full of dark attribute monsters and well those are my plants favorite snacks 😋 I see dark attribute and I slam that mind control down IMMEDIATELY. of course we bait a little (usually with predaplast) to waste tuning gum's effect, then we EAT.

I've posted my predaplant decks like 374835 times at this point but because my brain likes to keep things neat here it is again. only thing I will say here is because of the wave of face up continuous/field spells (hi jack hi soulburner hi jaden players that use necrovalley) I may go back to double MST / one night beam, but we'll see. guess you could play spider orchid for the S/T zone spells. who am I kidding. none of us are playing spider orchid. sorry Yuri but we are waiting on your better pendulums.

all this to say despite everything, despite it all, the broken skills and all the handtraps in the world, I still knew I could do it. and well, a guy like me who loves freemium mobile card games just a little too much, enjoys a challenge and didn't want it to end on a sour note. many duel links players don't know this, but some of us play for fun!!! it all comes down to the fact I simply enjoy the game and enjoy playing it a lot. but I am not a fan of this trend in skills like please konami STOP 💔 because it hinders my fun. it's also just bad for the game. tbh.

Headcanons! Some Spoilers?

My first post got a lot more attention than I thought it would, so I'm just gonna drop some headcanons. I'll do a few different characters from different shows, anime/mangas, etc. If you don't know much about the characters, there will be some info on them that some people may not know already (Ex; character death, big events, whatever).

Some HCs are on the sad side while others are just silly, nonserious ones.

Also, if you disagree with any of these HCs, that's totally fine! Please just don't be negative about it or anything. And if you want to correct me on anything, go right ahead.

First up, I'm gonna do Jason Todd from the Batman Comics/shows. I love Jason so much, nothing could ever make me hate him <3

I feel like he'd believe in "hair holding memories" thing, so after his death and revival, he'd shave his head countless times to try and forget all the bad memories. Poor boy :(

For a happier HC, I think he'd be an absolute boss at Just Dance or automatically become the God of a video game that any of his younger 'siblings' need help with beating.

I also have a slight feeling he'd cheat during a silly 'family game night' thing and be hiding uno cards in his jacket or something LOL. Bro's the type to make one move during a game of chess before giving up and flipping the board.

I used to be a huge Gojo hater for no reason lol, but now he's kinda one of my favorites.

Since it's canon that he has a sweet tooth, I have a feeling he stress eats/bored eats (eats a bunch when stressed out or bored) and gets tummy aches pretty often from that.

I feel like he'd tear up a dance floor at a stupid little highschool event or something, but not like normal dancing. Bro probably dances like a Hotel Transylvania character LMFAO.

I HC that the poor man has a rough time sleeping (specifically after the Snezhnaya events and the death of his father). Whenever Kaeya sneaks into the Dawn Winery, he probably holds his big brother until he can sleep peacefully <3

Another silly HC I got is that Diluc used to be the sweetest kid in Mondstadt, but was unintentionally a little chaos magnet. Definitely a leash child so Crepus wouldn't have a heart attack when wondering where his son ran off to for the 60th time that day.

Y'all are so lucky I forgot about HSR characters, otherwise I woulda yapped about at least 6 of them LOL. Might make a separate post later just for them, maybe multiple. Who knows.

Regarding Warden Thorne

Laurel, It’s been some time since I’ve had to think back on my days as Blackwall, but you asked for my help on this matter and I like to think that for all my flaws I’ve never let you down. I can only speak to my own memory alongside what I heard from other Wardens who spoke to me after Adamant, but perhaps it’ll still give you a clear enough picture of the woman you’ll soon be meeting. Warden Nessa Thorne has a reputation for getting the job done and being no nonsense while she’s doing it. Once she’s made up her mind, good luck getting her to change it, because she’s apparently as stubborn as they come. She’s from Orzammar supposedly, though I suspect you’d know more about how to deal with that sort than I do, but it’s something to keep in mind because I’m sure it’ll shape how she views you. She’s quite close to Evka and Antoine, if you want to try asking Harding about that. I’ve been warned that she’s not particularly receptive to being talked around, but I think you’ll find a way to win her over as you have a habit of doing. Maker knows if you could hold the lot of us together, you’ll find a way to make her see you’re on her side. I’m sure this is silly of me to say, but please be careful going into Minrathous. I’ve gotten accustomed to having friends in the last ten years, and I’d hate to lose one now. Give my love to Josephine and the children, and if you have need of my sword arm, all you have to do is ask. It may be a bit stiffer than it was in years past, but it’ll still serve you well. In my dreams I always see Ghilan’nain fall, and I see the Fade overlap with our world. And in my dreams when Margalit grabs the dagger to stop it, I’m always fast enough. I’m able to pull her out of the way, or I can use the Stone to shield her, or I get between her and the tear so I end up in the Fade instead. Even when I end up in the Fade I’m happy, because at least I saved her. At least I protected her. Then I wake up, and she’s still gone. What was even the point of these fucking powers and reconnecting to the Titans if I couldn’t– We’ll get her back. I have to believe we’ll get her back. It can’t end like this. I’m sorry. Again. I’m really not angry with you, I just–I miss her. I know how obvious that must sound, and I know I’m not the only one, but. It’s not the same, with the others. I beat World of Warcraft: The War Within (for now)

Every single word I am about to write I do so with the fear of god that none of it will age poorly

(also wow this is a long one sorry that my ramblings keep getting more rambly)

The summer of 2024 is the summer of "why do I have two separate MMOs that I want to play I hate myself", cause I already had FFXIV Dawntrail a bit ago, and now we got WoW, my first MMO love who I have had a horrible relationship with During BfA and Shadowlands and All That Blizzard Shit I was like Jaina in the scene of Warcraft III with the Culling of Stratholme "I'm sorry Arthas, I can't watch you do this." But then things (as far as I know) in real life are getting better, and then they did Dragonflight which in game was getting better and I'm over here tentatively having fun with a smile on my face ready for it to go bad at any time, and that's how I felt about War Within: This looks cool, are they going to be able to do it, or am I going to be disappointed once again?

And god. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS AGE POORLY BUT HOLY SHIT THEY LANDED IT SO HARD, I LOVED THIS EXPANSION!!!! I want to talk about why!!!! And like I said in Dawntrail MMOs obviously release more content (hell by the time I beat my set goals a raid came out (I did not do the raid), so I considered "beat" to be Loremaster (all the quests), all the dungeons, and all the delves so DON'T COME AT ME WITH "BUT YOU DIDN'T DO NERUB'AR" I WANTED TO WRITE A BEAT A GAME POST FOR AN MMO LEAVE ME ALONE

Story

This is what I was scared of. I love Warcraft, I love it so much I love the world, I love the lore, I love the everything, and obviously this game has had a... Not Great experience with respecting its own universe with... good writing. So I am understandably hesitant! Even Dragonflight which was a step in the right direction still didn't grab me in some ways and was a little cheesy I did really like the avengers assemble in the emerald dream though I'm not above that; so I didn't come into War Within expecting the best thing ever, but I really did appreciate how they did this.

Everything fits pretty well within the world, nothing feels like it contradicts previous info, it actually takes a lot from the existing world and expands on it; Xal'atath and the sword was Legion, Earthen have been a thing since Wrath, Nerubians have been around since WCIII, they got Kobolds, they got a healthy amount of previous guys you know from Dalaran/other people who happened to be on Dalaran (lmao) to really make the whole thing FEEL Warcrafty and not something kind of disconnected, despite the new concepts being introduced, which made me very happy.

The story itself was great. I felt invested fighting against Xal'atath because she fucked with my mans, and I really liked how much of a presence she was; involved in everything, but not to an annoying amount, and it didn't feel like the conflict with her was bullshit like the Jailor (they can still fuck this up we got several patches to go). I enjoyed learning about the Earthen, the Arathi, and the Nerubians, and like I said it all fit really well and I didn't have any moments of like "wait what the fuck why this"; even the Arathi felt pretty well explained "oh there's an empire somewhere else we haven't seen" cool and awesome, doesn't contradict anything already existing and opens up a new place in the future.

I think the one thing that was strange was how short the main campaign was. I hard focused it on my main and it wasn't enough to get me to max. But once I did all the Sojourner achievements I could see where the rest of the writing meat went, because so many of those side stories were amazing; some I'm genuinely surprised WEREN'T in the main campaign (the Haranir got like 2 steps in the main deal and then never showed up?? do the side quests to figure out anything about this person we put in the teaser cinematic; this is like my one beef with the main campaign, anyways). So many heavy emotional hits, stories that actually made me feel. The old Earthen losing his memories I think was a highlight for me.

What I really appreciated about every quest I did was the focus on emotions, on internal processing; like yeah, this is World of Warcraft. We fight a lot. There's a lot of fighting. But this expansion takes its own title to mean more than just being in the world, and focuses a lot on trauma, fighting with yourself, accepting yourself, connecting with others after trauma, and I really really appreciated that a game like this actually managed to slow down and question these little large things that it never really did in the past. Also, even with the deeper, more serious tones being so strong, the humor this time around is really great. There are a lot of moments in the main story and in the side quests that actually got me laughing out loud. Overall, I was really satisfied with all the story they gave me and I cannot wait to see if they are able to continue this upward trend to finish the expansion off.

I also want to say "stay a while and listen"s have been the greatest thing this game has ever introduced to give nerds like me more good writing while letting other players not have to suffer through it if they don't want to.

Characters

This is also an important section which was really hard to separate from the above; like I said, Warcraft does not have a great track record of how it treats its beloved characters who can be amazing at the highest of times (COUGH SYLVANAS SHADOWLANDS AS A WHOLE COUGH), so I was worried here. But the way our returning characters were treated, on top of the new characters, was really surprising.

Our Returning Friends:

Anduin - My fucking boy. I love Anduin, he is one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite character, in all of Warcraft. Seeing his struggle with himself hit really hard, and I really appreciate how they did it, it didn't feel disrespectful, he got moments to bring him up, he got moments that validated his current state; it hurt me to see the optimistic prince in such a state, and I love where his journey is taking him. He also calls me friend and that makes me happy Anduin if you were real I would be your friend

Alleria - I think her story is going to be cooked a little longer in the future, cause for this expansion she was often in the background hunting, but I love that despite the internal AND external things trying to keep her alone, she's not so far gone as to be separated from the people she cares about; I am actually excited to see how she'll play out. The fact that her and Turalyon still clearly love and care for each other despite the circumstances makes me happy.

Moira - I very much enjoyed that the Bronzebeard-Thaurissan family got such a spotlight this time around. It was great seeing Moira continue to prove herself as a leader with the action taken + the diplomatic role she placed herself in with the Earthen. The sidequest where she gets Fearbreaker was really a place for her to shine on her own. While I was a big fan of the trio of her, Magni, and Dagran, I can't help but feel like her portion didn't stick with me as much as the other two, but that could be a me flaw rather than a game flaw. I do hope she continues to get more screentime to show off.

Magni - Did not at all expect where this man was going. Depressed and angry speaker was an interesting way to start the expansion, and I enjoyed seeing him be able to reconnect with his family, to be freed from his prison (they hatched him!), and to really start his grandpa arc/hopefully make a relationship with his daughter arc.

Dagran - If you told me that the 3 polygon baby in Ironforge was going to be one of the best characters in a future expansion I would have been very surprised. He's such a nerd but in a really enjoyable way, and the connection he has with his family + Brinthe is really heartwarming to see. I want more of this 🤓 motherfucker

Brann - Not really a character in the main story, but he's here and I love it, except when he tells me that those webs will summon Nerubians, and not to stand in them. I hope he gets more uncle moments.

Khadgar - Fuck. This old shitty wizard is also top contender for favorite Warcraft character, so the way this expansion started gutted me. I was actually real life mad I wanted to destroy that stupid purple elf and all her spiders; I am so happy that he's fine I am going to put him in the best retirement situation possible and he can get his girlfriend and live the rest of his life happy DON'T YOU FUCKING DO THAT TO ME AGAIN BLIZZARD.

Jaina and Thrall - Did not get to be there lmao. Thrall really got the short end of the stick being on the loading screen. The Horde as a whole could have gotten more love this expansion, and this is coming from a man loyal to the Alliance. But also you guys got a lot in the past so uuhhhhhh fuck you lmao

Side note, where the fuck is Muradin; your brothers, your niece, and your great nephew are here, your brother hatched, Where Are You.

Our New Friends (and Enemies)

The Earthen - Initially, incredibly off putting. Why are they not scottish. But I really grew to love these robot dwarves. The council was all surprisingly great, Merrix has his whole sidequest where "oh he's a bad guy" no not at all he cares about his people, Baelgrim warms up to you and is the Obligatory Sacrifice Character, Adelgonn really showed the humanity these people can have, Brinthe was surprisingly funny and charming, and I loved to see her grow closer to Dagran (new aunt unlocked let's go). Overall, it was really cool to see this race of people show both their construct nature mixed with the free will they've unlocked. So much more interesting than I expected.

Faerin and the Arathi - Definitely the strangest part of this expansion, but incredibly cool to see. I was unsure going in, did they really feel like the fit in, their vibe seems a little separate from Warcraft and more Diablo-y or a different franchise, but I was really interested in their culture, the genuine nature their society had despite the traitors (like I was totally expecting Steelstrike to be evil not to have a cooking quest with her and her family); Faerin was likewise a surprise. I see the name "Lothar" and I'm like oh geez how are they gonna mess this up and I was instead greeted with a kind yet tough warrior who Has feelings and struggles with loss and is a wonderful friend to Anduin (the quest where you sit down with Faerin and Anduin might be one of my favorite sidequests ever).

The Nerubians - Ok so yeah we're all used to these guys being Bad Spiders Go Kill which they were def introduced as, but then you get to their zone and they're presented as their own society in such a cool way?? These are people! They're spiders, but they're people! The Severed Threads are a fun trio of characters that I enjoyed talking to. Honestly, surprisingly enough the Nerubians as a whole are like, really funny? There's a bunch of really good comedic moments, some played straight which hit the hardest. (Mr. Sunflower my beloved) I loved the split in society shown, the dislike, the Reason for dislike shown between the Ascended and the normal Nerubians, I could really feel the reason for dissent against the Queen (I haven't done Nerub'ar like I said but I do wish she was more present.)

Xal'atath - I said my main opinion earlier, she was a great presence in the story and I very much enjoy her as a villain. I really like the bonus dialogue you get if you've interacted with her before. I really think she has the potential to be one of the best major villains we've ever had if Blizzard plays their cards right (I am scared).

World (of Warcraft)

Dragonflight's zones were cool; but. Nothing really WOWed me (funny joke). Going into TWW, I thought underground was cool, but I wasn't sure at first. Looked at the little pictures for each zone, still unimpressed. Once I actually got Into the game and played it though, these are some of the best zones in the game.

I have these four screenshots, my favorite parts of each zone, and I still feel like I am not doing them justice. They're huge, they're so incredibly varied, and you feel like you can still breathe despite being underground (and they're confining when needed). I've always said that despite the lows, Blizzard's art department hard fucking carries the game, and they continue to flex. The cities are getting so much better at feeling sprawling and lived in, an evolution from the tiny Stormwinds of classic WoW. I love Khaz Algar so much. One of my favorite parts of my playthrough was when I entered Hallowfall for the first time, during the Beledar shifting event (not the story one! the random one), and I was amazed and confused. I don't think I've felt this mesmerized by the game since I was like 10 walking through Teldrassil. Something really special I also loved about Hallowfall (might be contender for top 10 zone of all time) is yes, this feels outside. There is grass. There is water. There is sun. But then you look at the land, you look at the rocks, the stalagmites, you look up and it reminds you that you're underground. There's so much spectacle here and I feel like I could go on and on and on about each zone and how amazing they are. (I'm ending this section now but I have to say I love Bug Suramar)

Music

Piggybacking off the last section, the music this expansion has been absolutely incredible, I haven't really hooked onto as much of the soundtrack as I have since BfA; Shadowlands really just had Maldraxxus and Revendreth and I honestly don't remember much of Dragonflight's, but here it's so strong. Isle of Dorn's windy outdoor flutes, The Ringing Deeps' sound of echoing mining, Hallowfall's beautiful choir, and Azj-Kahet's plucking spider sounds, it's all so strong, so memorable and unique.

Cutscenes

Really small section here but I love the cutscene work they've been doing. The fact that we get what used to just be in the prerendered ones in game??? The models look so nice there! Yeah sure my character looks a little awkward doing default standing they haven't mastered it like FFXIV yet but I LOVE the cutscene work. Even the lower quality ones have shown a lot of character. I think of the scene with Elrich and Brinthe, he still shows off and feels like an asshole, and you can clearly see the humorous frustration Brinthe feels at being interrupted. It's great.

Gameplay

I am the least excited to talk about the gameplay here, but I really do enjoy what they're doing this expansion. I love Delves and the solo content they're doing, I think their quest design continues to be engaging and fun (even though I was a little tired of the shout instruction randomly to get item/do task and all of the pulling slowly mechanics), and even though I'm not really a dungeon guy each one was incredible, they all excelled in presentation and vibe. The mechanics didn't really get me like I think Dawntrail's dungeons did, but I imagine they go harder in Mythic which I will not be doing.

The classes I played during my session of goals were Warrior, Evoker, and Warlock, which I had fury mountain thane (later slayer), arms slayer, augmentation chronowarden, and demonology diabolist. I really enjoyed the flavor they all brought, and in the case of diabolist it's SO fucking fun holy shit. I know not every class got something cool, and I will be playing those eventually (haha two of every class split between factions I have a problem haha).

Speaking of alts, I love Warbands. The fact that I got to work on loremaster, level Brann, and work on renown across 4 separate characters is an absolute godsend.

Last thought here; Skyriding is amazing. Yeah it was introduced in Dragonflight but I really just needed to be able to fly Invincible everywhere. The fact that Blizzard finally embraced flying and made it engaging by just making the zones huge is the best path ever.

I Have Talked So Much I Am Sorry

I really truly desperately hope that WoW continues this upward trend, continues this energy forward. I want to be able to hit each patch, to look back, and still feel the same happiness and excitement as I do now for the game. WoW is a game I have loved for most of my life. I want it to succeed. I want to say that I love it and not be embarrassed. If we continue to have more times like what War Within is at launch, I have no doubt that those things will be the case. They just need to not prove my fears right. With all of this very very very long post said;

My Year Of Rest & Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

Earlier today I finished reading My Year Of Rest & Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, and I have to say that while I loved it this is definitely a book that is going to rub some people the wrong way. The story focuses on an unnamed, twenty-something female narrator who lives in New York City in the year 2000 and seems to have everything she could possibly dream of: A massive inheritance fund, a closet full of high end clothes, and a career in a prestigious art gallery courtesy of her degree from Columbia University. Despite all of that, though, the narrator is tormented by memories of childhood trauma and unresolved grief. To power through it, she turns to a very sketchy psychiatrist named Dr. Tuttle to prescribe her with pharmaceutical drugs that will allow her to sleep her days away.

For a year.

Before I go any further I have to emphasize the fact that the narrator in this book is NOT someone anyone should be emulating. Not only that but, please for the love of God, do not try any of the medical cocktails in this book without the supervision of a doctor because I'm pretty sure some of these would kill a person. And if you ever encounter a psychiatrist like Dr. Tuttle in real life RUN cause I have and 90% they aren't even doctors. They are nurse practitioners or whatever who are acting as pharmaceutical sales reps. They get fancy perks for every patient prescribed a new drug and will ply you with samples without a second thought if your symptoms don't clear up IMMEDIATELY.

Anyway, back to the review....

So this book was very triggering for me, but I am glad I finished reading it because it ended up being incredible. Good things do happen when you face your fears, see? The main character was one of the most deplorable, unlikeable characters I have ever encountered for like 97% of the book. But I still couldn't stop reading??? I felt like I was watching Bridezillas or Teen Mom or some other awful trainwreck of a reality TV show, and I just could not put this book down.

It wasn't until after I finished the book that I realized the plot is all just one big metaphor, mocking people who only consume escapist media. Escapist media is stuff like Twilight or Dragon Ball Z or Family Guy or Bridgerton or Superman. Escapist media tends to have low stake plots with problems that get resolved quickly and effortlessly. In the case of things like Bridgerton it can even be dangerous if taken figuratively because Bridgerton falls into the alternative history genre. I know, I know what you're thinking -- Bridgerton is just The Crown without all the colonizing and racism. I'm taking this WAY too seriously, right?

Well, imagine if someone took Bridgerton completely out of context and framed it as HISTORICAL FACT instead of as HISTORICAL FICTION like in a home school setting, perhaps? Yeah, sounds unlikely but go look up the Nazi home school scandal and then we'll talk.

And, no, I have nothing against escapist media. I like escapist media myself, and Bridgerton is a fun little fantasy, but it's important to remember that that's exactly what it is: A fantasy. It's not real and, yeah, that's probably ironic coming from someone who blogs about Marvel in their time but my life doesn't revolve around Marvel. I have other interests like books, video games, horror, psychology, my cat, and history.

My point and the point of this book is that you shouldn't consume ONLY escapist media. You should face your fears, explore new genres, go to the museum and the park and the library. Don't be a white person who only reads books about white people by white authors. Consume media in other languages from other cultures and talk about it afterwards.

Broaden your horizons. Otherwise you might as well be sleeping through life.

This is a book that everyone should read, but it's definitely intended for more mature readers. So people sixteen and up are probably the most suitable audience. Keep all of this in mind, and happy reading.
