the character development of sasuke uchiha

i’ve been rewatching naruto lately, and today i wanna rant a bit about my first ever anime crush — sasuke uchiha.

not gonna lie, when i was 8, i liked him mostly because he was cool and handsome. super shallow reason, i know, but i was just a kid back then haha.

as i grew up and got into naruto shippuden, it hit me how much sasuke’s character changed. and honestly, being his fan started to get tough. in the og naruto, sasuke was calm, collected, and actually a good friend. but once the whole revenge thing with itachi took over, he started spiraling — lashing out at naruto and losing control.

i didn’t like that side of him, but looking back, it makes sense. he was a kid dealing with trauma most people couldn’t even begin to understand. his entire clan was murdered, and he was manipulated by itachi, orochimaru, and obito. honestly, it’s a miracle he didn’t lose his mind sooner.

sasuke before going rogue was genuinely likable. he worked well with his team, stayed cool under pressure, and thought before acting. that calm attitude was what drew me to him.

and even under orochimaru’s wing, you could still see that composure. he never killed unnecessarily and focused on getting stronger. when he formed team hebi/taka, i really liked how clear-headed and intentional he was. he had a goal, and he stuck to it.

but everything changed after he learned the truth about itachi. that’s when he really snapped. he became unstable, impatient, and reckless. he spiraled into darkness and started making wild decisions — like attacking the five kage summit (which, let’s be real, was kind of an iconic & memorable arc).

then came the war arc. when he suddenly wanted to “help,” i didn’t know how to feel. kishimoto made his character feel super inconsistent at that point. like, bro went rogue, committed actual crimes, and now he wants to be hokage? i remember reading that chapter and being so embarrassed i couldn’t even finish it properly. it was hard being a sasuke fan during that time.

and even after all the major battles — fighting madara, teaming up with naruto and sakura, defeating kaguya — he just decides he wants to kill all the kage? it felt like his character was just bouncing all over the place.

i get that kishimoto wanted to build up to naruto vs sasuke by the end of the story, and yeah, sasuke being alive by the end probably had a lot to do with his popularity. fans would’ve lost their minds if he died.

but honestly? i wouldn’t have minded if that was how it ended. it might’ve hit harder emotionally. if he’d fully joined obito, there would’ve been no turning back, and that could’ve been powerful in its own way.

but let’s put that aside. once sasuke started atoning for everything, i started liking him again. in boruto, his character is honestly peak. he’s mature, composed, powerful, and wise. this version of sasuke is my favorite by far. it’s like when you look back at your past and cringe, but realize all your mistakes helped shape who you are now — that’s sasuke. all the pain, manipulation, and bad choices made him who he is today.

i’m really glad naruto saved him. and i’m glad kishimoto gave him a chance to grow and find peace. compared to other mangaka like isayama or gege, kishimoto’s writing is definitely softer — and sasuke surviving the story is proof of that.

because let’s be honest — if this was attack on titan or jujutsu kaisen, sasuke would’ve been dead by the end of shippuden. no way he’d make it out alive. those writers are ruthless. isayama and gege don’t play around like that haha.

my only real issue with sasuke’s arc is the way kishimoto handled his relationship with sakura. he tried to kill her — multiple times — and then ended up marrying her? i get that people change, but that still feels off to me. probably the only part of his development that doesn’t sit right. but yea, i don't think romance is kishimoto's forte anyway.

but overall? sasuke uchiha has one of the most complex and fascinating character arcs in anime. he’s flawed, he’s messy, but he’s real. and he’s still my favorite character of all time.

Literally the main reason why i actually continued playing ESO lol. I just love his shyness, and how much he cares about the vestige (they fumbled in the newest chapter I stfg 🙄🙄🙄) I would date him irl idec I'm only straight for pookie <333333 I used to tweak so bad, I couldn't look at his face or hear his voice 🥴

2. Verandis Ravenwatch

Listen, he's hot and he's a dilf sooo perfect combo fr fr. Also, there's something I really like about the 'fatherly' characters, something like mentors just tickles my brain in the right way.

3. Vanus Galerion

Ok, so I'm not gonna lie, at first!! I didn't like him!! But then my brain chemistry changed when he was low key degrading us 🤤 ok ignore that, but I love that underneath all his grumpiness, is someone who's vulnerable. Also I want him to bend me over his desk :) I need more Vanus loreee, let me love pookie right

4. Abnur Tharn

When I was done with his DLC, I fucking scoured ao3 and Tumblr to lick at the crumbs left for me :)) The first time he shows up in the main quest?? Liked him but wasn't feral yet. Elsewyr?? Omfg, I love how he's changing!!! C'mere pookie 😍😍 ok, also I'm ngl but I blushed when he called us a pretty face <33

5. Iachesis

He's a hot, old, Altmer with good hair what else is there to say?? When he first showed up I was like damn, this is Vanus's dad figure?? Sign me UP!!!

6. Revus Demnevanni

He's so endearing. I love how clumsy he is, but ALSO!! He's always trying to right his mistakes which is hot ASF. Really miss him :/

7. Ayrenn

Ok, first off--HER VOICE. Her voice is sooooooo nice like OUGH, I could listen to her for hours. She's so caring, too, and I love that she's really willing to stuff for all the races in the Altmer alliance. FCK the veiled heritance fr fr.

I miss this man sm, guys I fucking cried during the Summerset DLC. He fucking BROKE ME. I didn't care for him that much in the beginning, but the dlc absolutely wrecked me :((. I felt like there was a real relationship there, and Darien really cared about everyone around him. I miss my knight 😭

9. Gabrielle Benele

Gabby is so cute, I love how crazy she is sometimes. But, also she cares SO MUCH. I just wanna hug her(maybe a smooch also), she's been thru sm and deserves sum loveeee

I'm a Martin truther y'all, can't stop myself. I just know he's kinky ASF, ANYWAYS. He really changes throughout the whole quest line and I love that, but alsoooo Martin is so sweet. Just read your toughts about book 7 chapter 12 part 1 (wow that's a mouthful) and am pretty happy you enjoyed it like i did! I totally agree with your critiques on it too, especially regarding the lack of in-depth analysis towards Cater. I feel like this was the perfect chance to delve into his character even if for a short while, but I guess the team had to limit themselves to a specific number of chapters, and decided to prioritise some things over the others.

Hopefully, when the novel of book 7 comes out(💀) we'll get more in-depth with each dream/characters. At least this is my guess after reading the first novel and snippets of the second, where I really enjoyed the extra details to the world and characters (ignoring the weird language translator spell that doesn't make any sense the more you look into it).

Buut we'll have to wait a long time for that, which I'm mostly fine with because I don't want a rushed product(though the wait is still a little painful😣)

On a side note, the Ace Attorney bit with the two Deuce idea is so genius I really wish it was real. Really put me in a mood to write it when I read it dndhejvd

Twst 2025 updates gonna be like book 7 chapter 20 part 34 section 56 paragraph 89 sentence 10 💀

Yeeeah, I feel like Cater's dream was relegated to being one of those "funny haha" dreams (*stares at Epel*) and didn't really examine his character in a new and/or meaningful way 😔 I'm not sure if there would be a satisfactory way for the devs to have us dream hopping to each of the casts' dreams without something being compromised, whether it be the pacing or the quality of the writing. Unfortunately, each character is only allotted so much time... so Cater wasn't able to have his character shine and we focused on some of the shallowest aspects of him, things we already know. You'd think that literally being in his dreamscape would reveal something... heftier (?) about him.

I don’t expect a full-on depresso Cater moment, but I’d at least have liked to have a little more than what we got. Like what if the OG Cater barging in at least acted a little more serious, or had glimpses of his “true” character peeking through? What if we got an actual explanation as to why Cater had his clone be his stand-in, like he was too emotionally out of it that day and needed time for himself?? What if OG Cater wore a normal Heartslabyul dorm uniform, indicating how he wants to be among the common people and be friends instead of the isolated ruler??? What if Cater wakes up because the Deuce imposter trial reminds him of his own inability to be “true” to himself??? We could have gotten WAY more.

LIGHT NOVEL, IT'S ON YOU TO SAVE THE DUMPSTER FIRE THAT IS THE TERRIBLE DREAM SEQUENCES 🤡 But even then, I have major concerns about the length of the book 7 light novel. They'd have to either cut each dream short to contain it all in a single volume OR extend it across multiple volumes in order to grant every dream the proper time and development they didn't get in the game. (I talk more about this topic here!) It sounds like a logistical nightmare no matter how you think about it... And yes, that translation spell makes no sense the longer you ponder it and it was not explained adequately-- Stay strong for the wait... (<- still has to finish reading the first volume of the light novel)

You have no idea how badly I want that double Deuce imposter trial to happen OTL IN FACT I WANNA DO MY OWN REWRITE (since I've actually written a Twst x Ace Attorney trial fic before!) TOO... Alas, holiday season is so busy + I have other things to write so if I do it at all, it might come out around the time the book 7 Heartslabyul update comes out in EN 😭

How I get so deeply tangled with Bancoran and Maraich

Well this is gonna be a long post about my personal feelings toward Bancoran and Maraich's relationship. English is not my native language so pardon me for the mistake I make.

I first knew of them thank to a tweet that mentioned them as the founding fathers of Yaoi and Mpreg lol. I got interested so I looked for their information on gg and this was what I was introduced to:

Back then I thought their relationship was some kind of quirky and it was there for comedic purpose only. I honestly had no hope for the relationship to actually be fun and serious. Like, a cheater seme and jealousy uke, totally not my cup of tea. Yet I went in anyways, just to see how it goes.

I started reading the first few chapters and actively looked out for Maraich, I though Jada was Maraich, Bjorn was Maraich, every bishounen with curly, light color hair was Maraich lol, the manga's style didn't help much either. I continued read the Eng scan and thought the manga was fun, but still, I was only there for Bancoran and Maraich's relationship, I didn't really care about Patalliro and other characters lol. My mistake.

Then gradually, the relationship that I thought was just for comedic purpose turns out to have a whole subplot that developed their complex characters and relationship! They did not just meet and fell in love for the sake of it, even though their meeting was a fated one and not a very good first impression but still! They properly went through enemies to friends, then through dating stage before living together, then the whole Foggy London Airport arc, vs Keen, Figaro arc! Throughout the stories, their relationship develops so much. And the tiny, little details here and there from the mangaka can actually help us readers imagine how they live together offscreen. Man, I didn't even know since when I got emotionally attached to them. They are not just there; I actually feel like they are living out their life!

Maraich went from someone who became an assassin just so he can survive to someone who is readily to die for Ban, follow him to even hell and afterlife. He started off kinda insecure in his relationship with ban, afraid that he might become a burden to Ban or being thrown away. When he got jealous in the first few volumes, you can see that the most he did was crying and throwing small things at Ban. After he knew that Ban would not abandon him, he became more confident in his beating lol. Now he won't even be afraid to throw Ban out of their home or beat him severely for cheating. I see that as a development lol.

And Bancoran? He remains a playboy but up to vol 17 he actually did try to stay faithful, though it ends up not as we hope. He sees playing with beautiful boys as entertainment just like cigar or drinking wine. If you look at the details, you would think his character is going nowhere. But look at the big picture, you can see how more and more he became homely (?), especially after Figaro was born. I cannot describe how I feel about his development, it is something you recognize when reading the manga. I just really love how possessive he is with his poker face, how he instantly recognizes a fake Maraich by smell (Maraich is always smelled flowery and fresh according to him lol), how despite the tattoo on Maraich's neck, he loves everything about him. You would think Maraich is the more jealousy in this relationship, but Ban is even more possessive and jealousy, he mostly expresses it though actions.

After the Eng scan, I read the RAW with my broken Japanese knowledge and boy, I was so invested and hungry for more that I went to pixiv to read the fanfics written by Japanese fans there (they are really good btw, Godly level even).

True that their relationship is toxic and problematic but that is for another post, another day. I just wanna guss about them now. I just love how they complete each other, how devoted Maraich to Bancoran and how despite being a playboy, to Bancoran, Maraich is special and his only companion.

I only hate how in the later stage of the manga, the mangaka uses the cheating-jealousy gag too much, it is honestly unnecessary.

I have a lot of things to say about them but I guess I should divide them into parts so it could be easier for me to write lol.

WHEN THE THIRD WHEEL STRIKES BACK

HILARIOUS. genuinely so good, pretty underrated too (in that i havent seen anyone talking about this?) but it has a main character who isekais into a second male lead and decides to stay awayy from the leads — this fails miserably, obviously, and its comical. the misunderstandings, the unlucky run-ins… also the mc is a priest and theres a pretty interesting magic system and worldbuilding!! and as a final bonus the art is nice. genuinely so fun to read, highly recommend

A STEPMOTHER’S MARCHEN

favourite manhwa of all time tbh its the only one ive bought a physical copy of (so far, anyway.. hehe). has a romance sub plot but the characterisations, relationships, plot development etc is exquisite. the family relationship takes precedence here especially in the first few arcs, the characters are REALISTIC, the art is gorgeous…, i love it so so much highly rec if you havent read it already. i guess this doesnt fall as much into light-hearted, because there are quite a lot of heavy moments… but its nicely balanced out with the comedy n all so i’ll put it in anyway :]

SCHOOLMATE FRIEND

super cute! this one is a school romance and it doesnt have many chapters out but its simple and the two mains are adorable. its a nice fluffy read and the artstyle is also lovely.

THE DEMON KING DAD AND HIS HERO DAUGHTER

jdjsjd can you tell how this goes from the title? speaking of which i type it from memory and i cant find the tab i had it open in so it might actually be “his daughter the hero” not “his hero daughter”… not sure. anyway i havent read much of this one but the first few chapters alone had me screaming the dad and his lackey are idiots please read it for him. he loves his daughter but this is backfiring on him so badly djrnfj

RETURN OF THE WAR GOD

you would assume the war god goes to war! but no. he picks up a little girl and then he’s like. ok mine now. and the rest of the manhwa is spent getting money out of people and living in the woods in his homemade mansion with his daughter and the mamy many sidekicks that they pick up along the way. lovely art, lots of funny moments, plenty of action -- this is a martial arts story -- n the side characters are great (especially the governor lol) .

SCREW THE NOBLE LIFE, I’M GOING HOME

there arent many chapters out for this one (24 i think?) but im so invested already. as it stands this is centred entirely around the isekai’d main character and her new family, there is a heavy dose of angst about identity issues but every chapter has a new misunderstanding and it has me rolling fr ,, oh also the mc’s new brothers are her stepsiblings but they shoot down that romance route really fast and their relationships are so entertaining if it keeps going the way it is this will definitely become a favourite. heres an out of context foot pic

AMAZING TRULY AMAZING the character arcs in this one are so !!! yummy !!! mc time travels n endeavours to correct her actions n save people and in the process makes sm friends and all the characters have depth and grow and theyre all so !!! lovable !!!! the friendships in this one are amazing even without the romance subplot (and also speaking of romance, its a slow burn mainly cus sigrid is as dense as a brick but its NOT frustrating because it actually makes sense for her character!! like im usually the first one to move on from a thick fl but honestly you cant help but cheer them on) its so so good, i love it

THE MEANING OF YOU

this one is an isekai romance with again some lovely character arcs :D the main character is pretty depressive but its also got plenty of light/funny moments to balance it out, and the plot centres around her learning to take care of herself and becoming more confident,, i love the characters a lot ! they care a lot. the romance does get a bit cheesy at times but it really is so wholesome with solid characterisation n its completed too so you have a nice 3am read.

HOW TO BE A DARK HERO’S DAUGHTER

urgh one of the best kid leads ever, plenty of plot and the art is gorgeous as well like its a winner all around okay. as it stands its on an indefinite hiatus (author had cancer and i assume is still recovering or just taking a break for a while) but season one is already completed and its an excellent family centred read with a few mysteries scattered here n there also did i mention the entire family is so yummy. im so gone for the butler fjddjdnndd

MY BROTHERS, THE PROTAGONISTS

simultaenously super funny and somewhat angsty. this is one of those dungeon manhwa but the caveat is each of the mc's brothers has a different trope going on (time travel, became demon king, isekai'd) while mc is a decent potion maker and has to deal with all their bullshit (affectionate). it handles family issues and balances it with comedy perfectly. the main character is really really likeable and you cant help but cheer her on. so far its almost entirely platonic but i spy a few male leads lol

MY CUTE BEAST!!!

romance manhwa again !! fjdmcjf the author of this one looked at all the classic miscommunication and misunderstanding tropes and noped the fuck out its so easy to read because you will NOT stress out and the male lead is so cute also. they play with the typical gender roles so fl has the knight aura while the ml is the damsel. its great and the characterisations are also awesome. big big fan. look him

iirc this is actually either malaysian or indonesian, not korean i think..? its mostly slice of life iirc n its been like.. 2 years since i read it so the humour might be . slightly outdated haha,, the cast is pretty diverse which is cool and there are a few angsty backstory chapters scattered here and there but on the whole it is chock full of shits and giggles if you want silly times. the only caveat is there isnt an official translation afaik so like… fan translation will have to do djfnc

A FREE RIDE EVERYDAY

back to romance ! romance manhua this time, slice pf life office type of thing and its pretty much just fluff. its a cute low stress read for times where u just want to sit down n smile about something and the characters r not thick about everything like they can be in SOME romances fjfnf and also the art is lovely! look at the cover, thats what its like the whole way through.

PURRFECT WORLD

mad underrated djfhdn it’s pretty chill, its a story about a human girl working at a salad restaurant on a planet full of cats. the art is super cute, the cats have jobs and all but they also act like cats and its great dhsks like the owner of the restaurant likes to sit in random cardboard boxes. its been a while since i read it but there is not much romance (if at all??), but plenty of cats and shenanigans. heehee

this one … i think is a manga actually? in colour?? its about a random oni kid that gets picked up by a high schooler’s family. very very cute art, it’s short and sweet and i will repeat very cute.

Aidan's the second guy we're getting full FTEs of (assuming he lives long enough for that to happen), which would have been my guess if you'd asked me (I don't remember if I said that or not lol). Fantastic for me, since he's probably my favorite from the people still alive! :D

Though I should probably point out that the people who were thinking about it the most are mostly dead (see: Kennedy, Grace, Vivi), and I'm not sure what that says about Aidan's conclusions. I mean, he's still right, it's just that I don't think there are many "good" ways to handle this whole thing.

"Aidan: This is why I hate group consensus.

Ellis: Huh. I guess it makes sense if you don’t like it when people get along.

Aidan: Getting along isn’t the issue. It’s that, when too many people are together, they’ll usually start coming to conclusions that they wouldn’t all believe individually. It makes people miss things that are important." Contrarian philosophy explanation! Aidan's so cool. Though, for someone who didn't seem to care much about anything just a little bit ago, it's quite interesting that he has so many thoughts on the way people reach conclusions.

"Aidan: …I’ve been “handling” it however I can. I don’t really care what happens to me, so that makes it easier to do whatever it takes. If I have to do something other people wouldn’t want to do, or if people don’t trust me or hate me because of it, that’s fine. Someone had to do it.

Ellis: Oh. Well then, aren’t you missing yourself?" Ooh, good one Ellis! Call his ass out!

"Aidan: It’s not that I forgot about myself when I was thinking. I just… didn’t think it mattered.

Ellis: Dude, you’re literally 10% of people here. Of course it matters.

Aidan: …You’re right. I know you are." Woo! Are we making progress mayhaps?

"Ellis: “Hi Aidan, I’m Right.”

Ellis didn't do anything about that, so ultimately it's kinda just meaningless thoughts now. There's nothing they really have to forgive him for, since they weren't really affected by it besides maybe Ellis lacking tact on occasion.

"I step into the Storage Room, trying to make a modest amount of noise so that Mark can tell someone is coming." Nice Ellis is always lovely to see :)

"Mark: I didn’t want to come back here.

Ellis: To the Resort…? Or…

Mark: Down here. I… last fourth motive was here, too, I think.

Ellis: …They can’t even come up with fresh material in between seasons?

Mark: It wasn’t the same fourth motive. Just, it was still here." Huh. Pretty interesting stuff there. I doubt there's much significance beyond "yeah the showrunners have limited ways to do motives", but it's cool to know. Though, I guess it could be noteworthy if the fourth trial last time was of particular significance, so it's worth keeping in mind. Also love how Ellis' first comment is about the absurdity of repeated motives instead of anything more serious. Seems their avoidant tendencies aren't fully gone, which makes perfect sense.

"Mark: I like talking to you. I just don’t want you to feel like you have to. You’re not stuck in here, so you shouldn’t be stuck in the Storage Room, either.

Ellis: …I can stay until lunch." These two's friendship is so wholesome and awesome and lovely. I sure do hope nothing bad happens to Mark! I sure hope venus isn't smiling slyly reading that!

"Instead of going to the Buffet again, I decide to mix up my options and try out the Cafe for lunch. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one with that idea, as I spot Taylor eating inside." Taylor's also been having a good amount of focus this chapter! I hope that doesn't mean bad things for them!

"Paris: Heyyy, besties! 

Paris.

Taylor: …Hi, Paris." Speaking of development. Taylor sure does seem really hesitant around Paris these days, huh?

"Ellis: They said they were doing okay, but… I’m kinda worried that they weren’t telling the whole truth. This motive is no joke, you know.

Paris: Oh, really? We’ll probably be due for another Trial in, like, a week then, right?

Taylor: Or, we could try to do something about it…

Paris: I mean, I guess. There’s not much of a point to that, though." Bruh. Aside from the fact I'm happy Ellis is being more truthful nowadays, Paris is so ready for people to die that it's impressive. You know, at this point she may be too suspicious for mastermind purposes, but without any other candidates I find particularly plausible, I'm just gonna take this as more potential evidence for Paris!mm anyways!

"Ellis: The more people are left, the more skillsets we have to use in a potential escape.

Paris looks between us, then mutters under her breath.

Paris: …Didn’t we all want to win…?" Ooh, mask off, huh? Maybe she isn't the mastermind after all! Though I wouldn't rule her out just on that line obviously lol. That said, at this point I doubt anyone would doubt that Paris wanted to win. Hell, given my track record of suspecting her every trial, I should probably be more schocked she hasn't made a move yet, huh?

"Ellis: I dunno. I was thinking about it, and, if the news broke out that you were linked to an incident in which fifteen people died, couldn’t that be bad for your reputation…?

Paris: I’m sure all my followers would understand it wasn’t my fault. 

Taylor: Even if you’re not, like, the mastermind, it doesn’t make you completely faultless…

Paris: Whatever. They’d just be happy I made it out to grace all of their screens again~

Ellis: Right, their screens. Those things that they could watch any potential leaked footage of this killing game on.

Paris looks right at me. Even though it doesn’t look like it, her gaze feels pretty intense. I do not like this.

Paris: Well then, I’m glad that we’ll all be happy to put this behind us~ Besides, I’m sure the Resort wouldn’t want to do anything to harm their winner’s reputation." Geez. Paris is weirdly defensive of how good a deal she'd be getting if she wins, huh? At this point I have to wonder if it's genuine because she's a participant who wants to win, or if she's a mastermind who's upset the others are seeing less and less appeal in murder, or both! A mastermind who is purposefully a participant with no advantages over the rest, who wants to win for the audience and no other reason, could be interesting to see.

"Ellis: Well, they must care a little bit, if Monoquin’s offered us some kind of prize. Paris, I bet you could really use whatever they have to offer, right?

Paris: You–!

I am sweating, to be clear. Though, I’m trying to hide it." Thanks for the clarification Ellis, I was worried you were straying from your personfailure nature xD

"Paris: It’s not like I’m someone who needs handouts from the Resort. They’re lucky to have me.

Taylor: Yeah, I’m sure you were a top priority next to the philanthropist descendant of a billionaire." Even Taylor's going in! Get her monarch!

"Paris: I can tell where I’m not wanted. Even if it’s your loss." :O Holy shit. The Taylor-Paris friendship ended without things going horribly wrong? They're both alive and Taylor isn't destroyed in some other way? I genuinely didn't expect that, but I guess I underestimated my GOAT Taylor! Apologies, I wasn't familiar with their game!

"Ellis: Ohhhhh, she’s definitely gonna try to kill me now…" xD

"Ellis: Yeah, I can get why. This motive isn’t as in-your-face as some of the other ones. You can kinda ignore it, as long as it isn’t your ass that’s in the Cellar. No offense, Aidan. You have a nice ass." Wow. Right in front of Davis? Bold xp

"Ellis: You thinking about, like, throwing a party or something then?" Ellis has seen enough murder mysteries to know what kind of thing will move the plot forward, I see! Probably good this got turned down, then x)

"Aidan: Plus, there’s the constant paranoia of being murdered or seeing a body, the threat of incarceration with the motive, the memories of the deaths everyone’s already seen, plus the fact that some people here are inclined towards negativity in the first place…

Davis: And you’re helping with this how, exactly?

Aidan: …Right. My bad." Hey, at least Aidan's apologizing for things now! Cool!

"Davis: Look, I know that it’s hard to stay upbeat, and I’ve definitely had my moments, too. But, if you’re willing to try, then maybe everyone is, right? That gives me hope.

[Nighttime Monologue] As usual, these are great. It's cool to see the killing game catching up to Ellis all at once now that she's actually invested in how it goes, despite how hard she's trying to remain positive. Which, admittedly, isn't all that much actually lol.

"Harper: …I suppose Noah won’t be present today." Oof, pour one out for my guy.

"Paris: But it’s like, one day forever, right?

All: …

Paris: I asked Monoquin the other day. He told me people can totes get selected multiple times~" Oh yeah, you "asked Monoquin", huh? You didn't just know, I take it. At this point it feels like Paris might be a red herring with how suspicious she's being xD

"Paris: I mean, it’s something to keep in mind, right? Like, everyone’s just kinda pretending the motive’s gonna go away, but it’s not. Shouldn’t someone do something about it?

Vanessa: You mean like tricking someone else into killing…?

Paris looks unimpressed." Dude Paris has actually gone off the deep end what. She's crashing the fuck out, it's awesome.

"Paris: What, is everyone a saint all of a sudden? This whole killing game, everyone’s been willing to make a move to move forward! Were people really that moved by Kennedy’s death that they don’t want to anymore? Have you all given up on getting out of here, or–

Taylor: “Or have you all decided to hate me for no reason, definitely not because I’m arguably the one responsible for Vivi and Kennedy’s deaths? Maybe Aidan too, on a worse day. It’s, like, soooo annoying that you’re not willing to entertain the thought of killing each other like you did before! I was expecting you all to die for my benefit, but now that you’ve realized that was what I wanted and all agreed it’s not very slay, it’s like you’re mad or something! "I wonder if they’ve thought of these sorts of monologues for all of us." I would love to hear that, honestly. I'm also greatly enjoying Taylor's crashout arc personally.

"However, what people may have noticed less is that Mark didn’t say anything at breakfast today. Maybe they just didn’t want to get up in Paris’ grill, but I’m not sure if that’s the case. After all, he just came out of the Cellar. Maybe their confinement really did get to them more than I thought." :(

"Mark: …I just… wish I remembered her name, or her face, or… anything.

Ellis: …I assume you’re talking about the same person you brought up in the Grotto? The one you cared about?

Mark nods.

Mark: …She was my first game’s Lucky Student, if you’re curious." Huh. Very curious. Maybe she had a different kind of luck from Ellis, or maybe Ellis isn't s safe as he thinks he is. Well, out of universe we know they reach the sixth trial because format, but obviously they don't got that information lol.

[Mark explains] This is very interesting....

"Mark: She, uh… didn’t have the same idea. 

Ellis: So then… she tried to kill you?

Mark manages a smile, though there’s clearly no happiness behind it.

Mark: I wish." Ahh... Yikes.

"Ellis: Wait, I don’t get it. She didn’t think the game was going to go on forever, but she also didn’t try to kill you? Did she die trying to escape or something?" Come on, Ellis. I guess it makes sense that it'd never cross her mind that someone would commit suicide for someone else, at least not immediately, though.

"I almost can’t believe it. Mark really knew someone who, so close to the end, gave it all up just so that Mark could win? So that he could have a chance of escape? It’s dumb. Couldn’t she see the look in their eyes? Couldn’t she tell that he was thinking the same kind of thing? Both of them, apparently, would have died for each other. Doesn’t that make it clear that Mark would have rather lived with her than lived through this?

…Why does Mark even think I’m worth their time?" Ouch. Just... there's not much else I can say about that one. Just ouch.

"Mark: If I’d known that was her plan, I’d have tried to beat her to it. But, here I am. 

Mark hugs one of their legs.

Mark: Like I said, I didn’t deserve it either." aaaaAAAAH-

"Yeah, right. There’s a huge difference between a tribute to a god and the reapings of a devil. Mark got here by being so wonderful that another wonderful person was willing to give up her life for him. I got here through callous apathy and a random miracle I didn’t deserve." Man, remember when Mark and Ellis' conversations were all fluff and happy friendship? Yeah. I miss Mark's FTEs :(

"Ellis: Look, I respect your need to get all of this out, and I know it must’ve been extra traumatizing to have to remember it in bits and pieces. And, more than that, to still not remember parts of it… But, you can’t keep beating yourself up over this. That’s really not what’s helping anyone, because it’s hurting you. We’re already stupid young, and you were even younger back then. You can’t change the past. You’ve just gotta live with it, shitty as it may be." Ellis is pretty decent at speeches and comfort when he wants to be, at least!

"Ellis: You’d better not be factoring any martyrdom into your plans.

Mark: It’s not like it’d do anything. There’s still more people left. There’s still a chance to save everyone, I just… have to think." Good! Awesome! Great!

"Mark: Thanks. I really appreciate it. I… really appreciate you, Ellis." Mark continues to farm "awws" out of me, and he keeps managing it. Aww :)

"Mark: …Right. It’s nothing. I just… want to make sure you know you’re… important. Please don’t ever forget it.

With the full story, my brain snaps to a connection. Are they saying all of this… because they don’t want me to take myself for granted? Because of what she did…?

I chuckle.

Ellis: Come on, you’re talking to the Ellis Ortiz! I always know my worth. After all, you can find the net worth of most celebrities online.

Mark: Of course." Mark and Ellis' conversations continue to be one of my favorite parts of this fangan, they're just constantly peak with no valleys it's fantastic.

"Still though, mulling over the story, I notice something odd. Back when I was fixated on winning, I briefly entertained, yet quickly shoved away, the question of how the mastermind (and, now I know, traitor) would factor into all of this. I have to assume that the mastermind participating in the killing game isn’t a new development. If that’s true, that means that the mastermind (and potentially traitor) would have been amongst the contestants that Mark and his friend outlived." I somehow forgot about that, but it's true. We may be seeing a situation where the mastermind is being forced into the role, which is a hell of a thing. Then again, there's the very real chance that there's a lot of people who want to be the mastermind, to the point where they want to die for the role, what with Junko doing the same thing in THH and this being a Tragedy setting.

"Does that mean that the mastermind died, but it didn’t stop the killing game, like Kennedy suspected? Or, does it mean… that the mastermind was in that final two…?

If Mark doesn’t remember, I don’t know how I’m supposed to know. And, even if they did remember… if it was that latter option, there’s a possibility they wouldn’t tell me. But, I have to believe that Mark is innocent, don’t I…?

A smile like that is too important to lose." Very scary thoughts here, but Ellis' friendship prevails. Man, accirax picked a very good first character to complete the FTEs of, huh? Very happy about that! :D

(1) train master chidori

in terms of me redesigning folami, i think i'm also gonna tweak her personality a bit too. i want to give her braids and slicked down baby hairs instead of the initial poofs that i had her with previously--and i think that may change which association creature/thing that i want her to be associated with bc i mostly just associated her with poodles because of her hair LOL. in terms of her personality, i originally made her a bit airheaded but i think i may kinda wanna give her more mature vibes since she's technically gonna be the oldest and most experienced of chidorky's crew. more... zakuro from tmm energy tbh. i think that may be the vibe i wanna go for for her lol.

(2) celestial weddings

beloved extremely wholesome polycule shenanigans lol. i think the one character that i know much less about their romance arc with dag is muu? muu is from denjai, which is the fourth sphere and its a swampland and marshy type of place. muu themself is the youngest of all of dag's lovers and it definitely shows in how upbeat they are and how they very much look up to dag in an almost hero worship kind of way. tbh they probably have the senpai/kouhai romantic relationship arc and ngl its very cute. muu also flaps their hands whenever they get excited about something and they tend to stumble over their words when they get excited, which is a lot lol.

(3) nondisclosure

i used to be sooo back and forth about nyseah and 17's relationship when i made the characters many many moons before; (and actually now that i think about it, most of the characters from that wip, except everything relating to owen and helios's storyline still exists in this version of the story lol. idk if i'll ever go back to those two characters but they did have a sweet relationship, it was just SO thematically different than everything else that was going on, which is how it developed into what i call now nondisclosure LOL) i actually kind of wanted them to get together only because i built up 17 to be a sort of "he's justified for his actions and he actually does care about nyssie.... somehow" back then. but i think i was also biased because he was one of the first "morally grey characters" i really ever made and i suppose back then i was much simpler in what i wanted from those kinds of characters.

when i think about nondisclosure now, 17 barely plays a role in it from what i think. tbh i think 12 plays more of a role than he does and that's because i'm obsessed with 12 and i think everyone should be obsessed with 12 but this isn't about him this is about 17 and nyssie. i think it works better for nyssie to not get with him in the end because like he seriously violated her in a way that younger me didn't really see an issue with (thanks ya and anime for not thinking this kind of relationship was bad or that it could be fixed LMAOOO... not to say that i don't enjoy making those kinds of relationships now, its just the fact that now i'm more likely to lean into the relationship being fucked up LMAO). anyway tho, mama nyssie and her brood of kiddos is the best ending for her because its the one where she's the happiest :D

(4) sixteen candles

ranger being aromantic makes so much of how he acted in all of the old chapters that i wrote many moons ago make so much fucking sense. like seriously, he was soooo noncommittal to the point of it being basically a meme, and even tho the friend i would talk with about these characters at the time helped me make a character for him to be with and i 'enjoyed' it to a certain extent, it always felt kind of off? and i think its because the person ranger will always be the closest with is always gonna be nanette, like they are inseperable and i think them defining a qpr is actually So Fucking Good for them. i'm kinda obsessed with their dynamic ngl, adn i also like the idea that ranger is just like down to fuck all of his besties and at the same time they all have a relationship with each other where that's just a thing that they do.

i really need to work on roger tho because he is so conflicted about a lot of things. not just to get him open to the fucking really, but mostly just because he has the roughest go of it relating to family and it kinda hits home for me personally a bit, so in some ways i feel like idk how i should handle it. but overall, love they. i should think about them more tbh LOL

(5) the liminal space series (overall)

chloe being involved in jenna's story is honest to god still so funny to me. like here's this "average" small town popular girl, who's popular by virtue of being normal enough and outgoing enough that everyone likes her, but having a bit of an alt style so people think she's edgy and unique and then all of a sudden she's hanging out with the town weirdos trying to hunt down a what? what did you say it was jenna? a chupa--WhAT?

and the fact that she's so taken aback with how casually jenna says that she likes her that it just takes her and her sexuality for a wild ride and at the end of it all she has to go to college and pretend that she didn't just have the craziest senior year/summer of her fucking life LMAOOO its just so funny to me.

just so u guys know updates from me are gonna be slowing down a bit! i have plans/trips over the next couple months that are gonna be splitting my time :) i don’t have a strict uploading schedule anyway and i will still be updating my works over this period, i just can’t promise it’ll be every couple weeks like i had been doing lol

On butterfly caught:

next update from me will likely be a butterfly caught chapter. hoping to have it up and running soon! part of the reason it’s taking so long is because i actually ended up scrapping almost the entire outline i had for the second chapter lol. it wasn’t BAD, but it was mostly just set up for porn…except i ended up deciding that i actually wanted quite a bit of plot too. unfortunately my previous outline didn’t leave me a lot of wiggle room for character development or conflict 😭 needless to say, it took some time for me to figure out an entirely new direction for the fic while trying to write myself out of the hole i put myself in lol.

the very, VERY good news is that i think i succeeded!the outline for the next chapter of butterfly caught is, imo, 10x more engaging and 10x more sexy and 10x more true to the tone of the first chapter. and i am very excited about it!!

the other news is that i don’t know that it’ll necessary be done in just two chapters anymore lmao. i’m probably going to have to split it up. won’t be as long as ioft and i can’t say exactly how many more chapters it’ll be (maybe 3 or 4 total?? no clue), but uh….she’s gonna be a little longer than either of us anticipated, because i’m incapable of keeping things succinct.

planning to read through ch1 and edit it a bit (shouldn’t be anything that warrants a reread but i’ll lyk if that changes) then on to the next chapter ✨✨ sooo excited to get that out into the world!

UGH trish it took me so long to read the last chapter....idk ive been in a reading slump its so weird like it made me guilty to read things that i enjoy so ermmm roundabout way to say i was saving it for when i could truly savor it....

anyways wow the yearning in this chapter....there are so many moments where i screamed. like for example, when sukuna was trying to apologize, i just wanted reader to kiss him like...if an emotionally constipated man was trying so hard to tell me his emotions i would literally be so down bad. im glad reader's better than me and thinking hard about whether to give him a second chance or not.

i do think, however, that while sukuna and reader have wronged each other and hurt each other, we're not *completely* in a place we can't go back from that. in my opinion, there's shit you can do that is so...toxic and stuff you can't undo no matter what (i.e. cheating, lying completely, being hurtful, being decietful etc) while, to me, sukuna and reader's conflicts have happened mostly bc of inner conflicts/miscommunication/misunderstandings/bad life circumstances. all that to say that i think you did a really admirable job creating the angst because to me as a writer it's hard to do that without making any party looking super toxic/unreedemable. we're still hoping for sukuna and reader, and it's not frustrating either :')

like, there's a lot of things sukuna could've done in this scenario way worse than what he did, like guilt trip reader whenever she couldn't help him out, not being respectful of her or her time...dont get me wrong, im not trying to say "oh at least sukuna wasn't a complete asshole that means he's a green flag!!" but rather i feel like a lot of people in sukuna's situation itself would, in reality, guilt trip, take advantage of others' kindness, etc. especially as man (LOL). but rather than him *actually* being an asshole, really the conflict here is that sukuna's just a anxious guy who doesn't want to feel like he's indebted to others. to me, since he cares about being indebted to others/taking more than he gives back, it shows he cares about not taking advantage of people, etc.

i hope that makes sense? i really look up to your writing and how well you pace. the way you write your conversations are literally how i would answer them irl, and im actually soo jealous of how you develop your characters :') conversations are the hardest parts for me to write, and im just in awe of how you make it flow so naturally...

i appreciate that so much :') when i was coming up with the main conflicts between them (particularly his reasoning for not showing up to the project presentation and the conflict during their big fight in ch10), i really wanted to make sure that there was a very good reason for everything happening because i didn't want either character to be irredeemable or outright toxic. i'm glad it's not frustrating either!!

he's not necessarily a green flag and has done some shitty things, but nothing he's done has been malicious in any way so i'd like to think he's not a red flag either!! i feel like growing up with a good parent like jin, he doesn't try to be an asshole even though he knows he can be, he's just a product of unfortunate circumstances and misunderstandings. he wants to be good!! a good friend, a good parent, a good brother, a good partner 👀 he just struggles with outside issues.

RIA I AM GNAWING at the bars of my enclosure, I just finished the last few chapters and JSHDHDHHDJWJWHE <- insane insane insane. I’m going insane. I think this fic has one of the most satisfying conclusions I’ve ever read before like the final battle was SO COOL ?!? Epistolary fics have their limitations yeah but it’s SUCH an immersive storytelling like man I really did feel like I was in a live stream watching the combined forces of hero’s and villains and rebels take down the mayor. And MAN,,, that baletach scene after the dusts clears and he removes his helmet and the shadows surround them was so soft (that turn of phrase is detonating the 2018 cringe meter in my mind but I cannot think of a better way to describe it). I love how although there’s a happy ending, there’s still doubt for what could come in the future, idk it just feels like I’m peering into the social media of some distant city overbroad and feeling wildly confuse. I also LOVE the implication that Freth is like the New York of London of this world with the whole freth-centricism that’s such cool world building. I’m really curious to know whether there’s other cities being plagued with mutants too? Are their heroes elsewhere or is this like a Gotham city where one particular area is just prone to these magical things happening? Anyways so excited to see what more of this universe you’re going to explore :D

The Frethcentricism was mostly me making a jab at how USA-centric the Anglosphere Internet feels at times 😭 but I would imagine the constant superhero/Mutant news gets aggravating for people who don't care. And it's like Spopera where I get to play pretend and choose which topics are culturally dominant. Freth is an important trade/finance/logistics hub. I can imagine it was historically important due to its location (being on the coast of a continent), then the Mutants appeared, the industries panicked and moved away, but then the heroes showed up, hence Freth had good security and low crime rates in its golden years. Its special status would probably grant it more autonomy from whatever country it belongs to— or perhaps it's a city-state/ in the process of becoming one. I imagine the lack of government transparency + crackdown on civilian protests + startling massacre of heroes pushed away those industries, hence the new gov has to incentivize them to come back.

There is definitely something "magical" about the area itself. Natural Mutants still spawn and will probably come back even if the heroes kill them all (rip LFSA, you were too optimistic about Mutant eradication). Kids from civilian families (eg. Ben) can develop powers out of blue thanks to the "magic". The "magic" doesn't abide by political borders so it's possible for kids in neighbouring areas to develop powers, which leads to conflict because Freth is obliged to take in everyone with powers, but the kid doesn't belong to Freth.

This universe has been bouncing around in my head for quite some time and I feel there's a lot to explore. Lyra's parents being a power couple, Reina's parents, the 826 graduates defecting, Mirage and co backstory, etc etc. I don't know everything lmao and I'm kind of waiting for things to slot into place. I think this universe is addicting because I Don't Know a lot of things but then I start writing and the characters/plot/world reveals itself? If it makes sense? So it makes me really excited to write because yippeeee I'm discovering more about this world :D (and if I don't like something I can just retcon it later lmao)

ch 166 thoughts (spoilers ahead)

my thoughts aren't super coherent and i probably won't say too much anyways [I'M HALFWAY DONE WRITING AND LET ME JUST SAY I WAS WRONG. AS I USUALLY AM WHEN I CLAIM THINGS SUCH AS THIS] but bear with me here.

i see a lot of ppl posting about denji breaking down about how he always prioritizes sex and making bottom surgery/trans jokes out of it. while i love trans hcs, i rly think that claiming a scene like this solely has to do with denji being trans isn't in good taste.

denji has been shown to have a really complex relationship with sexuality in general, enough so that it's one of the main themes of the story. people tend to make jokes out of it and sure, while there are some parts of it that are ridiculous, it's a very real thing. denji struggles with hypersexuality, enough that he puts himself in situations he'd honestly rather not be in because he feels like sex is the only thing he can fall back on if nothing else. (now especially because his family is gone. notice how his sexual desire sort of deteriorated the longer he was living in the hayakawa residence? you know, the place and the people he could fall back on? the one that was violently torn from him? yeah, that one. yeah.) it's like an addiction, if not one entirely.

in this chapter, denji faces glaring consequences to his actions. (not extreme; glaring. obvious. ones that even denji's scrambled brain is able to process) it's almost ironic, considering how he's gotten himself in other situations of a similar nature to this one that had much more drastic consequences and were in much more dire circumstances, yet this situation, where he's not in any imminent danger (or at least not any more than usual), is the one that causes his resolve to crack.

i think that seeing the brothel physically in pieces made something click in denji's mind. the debris is a physical representation of the idea that sex isn't this big grand thing that will solve all of denji's problems and make it so he doesn't feel so awful like he does. it's just a bunch of wood and metal painted in fancy colors. i feel like throughout the whole story, since denji hasn't ever experienced sex (as far as we know), he has a very skewed idea of it; that it will make him feel this ultimate pleasure that will make all his problems seem minuscule in comparison. i don't think that denji ultimately wants sex persay; i think he just wants to feel good in a literal sense. i think he wants to be rid of the bad feelings he experiences that rise up from all the horrid things he's gone through and i think he wants to be able to feel satisfaction and happiness and good emotions like that. instead what he does, since he doesn't have access to it, is throw all those emotions in a blender and turn it on high, blending his own brain in the process and rendering his thinking skills inoperative. i think that considering he was brought up throughout most of his childhood surrounded by gruff, violent men and (mostly(?)) without a proper maternal figure, that he'd think whatever they use to cope (probably picked up from the things they talk about/the things he's heard in general) should work with him; something like sex.

denji's gone through a lot of character development, and it's all been coming to a head in these recent chapters. in this chapter, he's openly and outwardly recognizing that his "ultimate goal" for sex is getting in the way of his other priorities. we don't yet know if he wants to get rid of this desire or wants to keep it (represented/talked about via his genitals because denji doesn't have the mental capacity to think about it too hard and describe it in any other way), but if i know anything about this kinda stuff, i'm gonna assume it'll be a bit of both. letting go of something you've been clinging to for so long is not at all an easy thing to do, especially considering how frail of a mental state denji's right now.

Also, Tommy not actually saying thank you with words, but definitely doing half of Wilbur’s chores says a lot about both of them. It shows once more that reading each other well goes both ways. It’s very cute too.

Anyway, I love how throughout the entire fic, the cafeteria seating arrangements are a good way to keep track of friend groups and social standings. We started with Tommy, Wilbur, Tubbo, Aimsey and Ranboo. Then after Tommy and Tubbo had a fight about killing Wilbur, it went to Tommy, Wilbur, Niki and Jack. After the murder attempt it was full isolation (though Aimsey did come and socialise) and now we are basically back where we started + a lot of character development.

I’d forgotten how much of a chaos gremlin this Tubbo was. Also, why do all the Deathlings have such morbid conversation topics? Who would you want to be stranded on an island with? What would you do if a nuclear war broke out? I know they are neutral to Death, but still?

Also, I’m not saying they are wrong, it’s a valid discussion to have especially given the current circumstances. They should stockpile food anyway.

Correction: none of the Deathlings have impulse control, or a filter for that matter. It's almost like being isolated for most of society since their teenage years has badly affected their social skills. (and maybe a little bit of their empathy levels too, which fair, the cops hunt them for sport and the government tells awful lies about them. Though that might just be Tubbo.)

I can't tell if Tubbo is being passive-aggressive or if he’s just genuinely surprised Wilbur didn't bring up Clara because it's been that long since they properly talked and last time they did Wilbur was probably spouting a lot more Clara bullshit. He was very uptight in the first few chapters.

YEAHHH tommy doesn't need to do wilbur's chores for him and he's literally been forced to do very grueling chores for weeks now and still, he still does half of wilbur's chore load for him as a thank you. he's really happy :)

tubbo is being genuine! it comes off as passive aggressive (and it's meant to be a little bit, but more in a teasing way) but mostly he's genuinely surprised wilbur isn't spouting more clara shit considering the way he used to be the last time they were eating meals together. another example of his growth :D

ur so kind this is like. one of the sweetest asks ive ever received i was pacing all day and im just answering now because i wanted to have the time to write out a thoughtful response because ohhghgh my god u made my absolute week with this thank you SO much my angel !!!!!

starting this story it was so important to me that like . phys has Other Friends. i think i mentioned this before but i think a big part of the story is that Ouma's mindset is wrong and unhealthy which is definitely starting to be examined this late in the story and like. the way he goes about doing stuff is definitely (mostly) well-intentioned but his mindset and philosophies are so Off and Wrong that i think ONLY having his mindset to influence Phys would a) ensure that phys only develops in a way that makes them more like him, which is NOT good because his mindset is wrong and unhealthy, and b) would make them extremely lonely when that isnt what i want the story to be about. if i COULD i would go back and give them some more interaction with momota because he's ouma's foil character, but i like him giving phys advice and phys taking on bits of his philosphy, too. they basically take an amalgamation of their friends' perspectives and learn to have a healthier outlook that way. so yeah . its super important for phys to have friends, especially optimistic ones like momota, kiibo and chabashira .

MY BODY LIES!!!! i haven't forgotten about this, just planning on properly starting it after i finish sleep awake's main story because between that , my p5 fic, and my jojo fic its kind of A Lot. but amami will DEFINITELY be a prominent character in it because i love his and phys's relationship so much. i tried to stretch it as much as possible in the original story before i knew i had to kill him off :(( and YEAH so i think a bad ending will be the first chapter which will probably be if shinguuji succeeded in his murder attempt , mostly focusing on the aftermath and the effect it has on the rest of the characters which . was pretty heavy for a first chapter so i may make it the second instead lmao.

I CANT SAY MUCH ABT FUTURE STUFF but i CAN say that some of ch5 and a fair amount of ch6 will be different and im super excited to show you what i have in store for it !!! the tone i'm going for is bittersweet so . hopefully that tides you over for a bit :3

the new trio... the phys apostles as i'm calling them. they're so silly to me. something about each of them knowing phys in very unique ways . kiibo seeing phys as soon as they woke up and always being the first to believe in them , chabashira seeing phys after they killed shinguuji and being the only person to see that side of them, and saihara being a sort of mirror to phys's grief in the early chapters after they both lost the most important person to them ( at that time ). i thought it made sense that they would all be a little more reluctant to believe that phys had been totally brainwashed because they all have a lot more respect for them than that , and also just . know them better as a person than the others , who are definitely still well-intentioned , just ignorant.

ouma... my little freakweirdo bf . characterising him is such a challenge but im so so happy you enjoy how i've done it !!!! physouma's dynamic is my favourite i've ever written in anything, i think . it's exactly like you said !!! they're constantly on this weird emotional journey where phys is attempting to get closer and ouma is attempting to distance himself but its not working because they both care about each other so much and like. yeah . they make me a bit insane too . writing phys slowly discovering their feelings has been super fun too . i usually dislike the oblivious love interest trope because more often than not it feels like it's played for miscommunication problems BUT i feel like with ouma it only makes sense because like . its impossible to know where you stand with ouma even if he straight-up says 'im in love with you' you'd just be like ?? yeah ok buddy sure. good one . you got me.
