i feel like we've gotten shades of this in other albums but i think ttpd is a major evolution in how taylor talks about the power dynamics of her sexual relationships. i can't think of many past lines that so openly acknowledge that some men see her as a sexual trophy.

Inspired by this post to write about my spin on the Superbat love square. This is all before they know each other's true identities.

Clark/Superman- has the hugest crush on Bruce Wayne.

Batman/Bruce- in love with Superman.

Clark and Bruce- get along very well. Clark is so obviously in love, he's blushing, he's stammering, he's awkward, he's just a mess. Bruce thinks Clark is just Like That (and to be fair, Clark is awkward and shy) and does not pick up on the very clear crush at all. Clark is very much the kid that used to be picked on and Bruce knows this, so he just assumes Clark's all nervous and... Clark-y because he isn't used to friends. Bruce himself while not used to having genuine friends knows how to be a friend and navigate social situations with grace, so he geniunely thinks Clark's awkwardness and blushing is Clark not being used to friendship. Bruce also does really and truly care about Clark, and he's very protective of him, and he sees him as a very good friend.

Batman and Superman- Oh dear god NO. These men have the worst chemistry possible. Superman is trying his best, okay, he's is trying to be patient and nice to Batman. But Batman. Will not even give him a chance. It's the most uncomfortable tension ever. Why? Because Batman is a tsundere who can't process being in love with Superman especially as Batman.

Batman and Clark- it's... Interesting, to say the least. Clark doesn't like Batman very much because of how Batman treats him as Superman, however Batman/Bruce does care about Clark. So while Clark is guarded and polite to Batman, Batman tries to soften the batman persona with Clark. Clark does pick on the fact that Batman is actually decent to him when he isn't superman, and does realise that Batman specifically doesn't like Superman (and from his perspective it really seems that way because Batman does cover up his crush very well. He just turns into an asshole in the process).

Bruce and Superman- Now, this is the one where they have the most natural chemistry and clearly obviously have feelings for each other. Bruce is in love with Superman (not Clark) and Superman/Clark is in love with Bruce (not Batman). And as Bruce his feelings for Superman are much more obvious, just from the way he looks at him. And Superman also lights up when he sees Bruce. If Superman saves Bruce, you can believe he's gonna carry him bridal style and hold him for longer than he has to and Bruce is gonna call Superman a hero - "his" hero. Of course, Bruce has the added guilt of how he treats Superman as Batman, but as Bruce he doesn't feel like he needs to hide it (mind you, he isn't even sure who is the real "him" anymore, so you can add Bruce/Batman having an Identity crisis into this love square too /hj) and he can't seem to push superman away in that state either. He can almost pretend he's just Bruce, and this is Superman, and everything's okay, when he knows, and only he, that it's not and that he's actually an awful person. Superman does not know this. He just knows that Bruce Wayne is the most brilliant, wonderful person he knows and that he's head over heels for him, and as Superman he has the confidence to show that a little more, to not stammer but to flatter and charm Bruce the way Bruce charms him.

I have zero clue if anyone's done this concept before for an Akumatized!Marinette, but I think a Spider-themed Akuma based around the Greco-Roman myth of Arachne (Arachnette?) just works too well not to try and sketch out myself. Especially in the wake of the Season 5 finale, where she a.) was forced to weave an elaborate web of lies about her confrontation with Gabriel, the Wish, and his death, and b.) was unable to stop Monarch from accessing the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous to make the Ultimate Wish--the mission she's had since the very beginning of the series. I can only imagine how miserable girly's feeling in the aftermath and the potential Imposter Syndrome that comes with her involvement in all of it.

So, an Akumanette who believes her Akumatization to be divine retribution for thinking that she could have ever been strong or special enough to embody the traits of the gods? It seems rather fitting here imo. :)

The design is a bit busy, I'll admit, but I was having way too much fun trying out brushes that I don't normally use. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out all things considered!

The prologue to the episode actually becomes unintentionally extremely funny in retrospect because three of the circle members do ultimately make it out, including "the unknown arsonist" so either Candela decided to just be like "yeah the Circle of Needle and Thread disappeared but they seem to have saved the Fourth Pharos in the process" so as to provide some cover and privacy to the three survivors who presumably are retiring after this ordeal; or this report was filed while the circle was busy throwing chickens at sandworms.

April Ko-Fi! Superhero Anakin & Obi-Wan AU

hello this beast almost defeated me if i'm being honest i've had weird real-life-being-busy and then brain-not-working-when-it's-writing-time writer's block but i'm super happy to post the superhero anakin au fic on ko-fi to all the monthly ko-fi supporters :D

in this bad boy, based on this root post of mine, anakin is a mechanic by day and a vigilante by night - everything's going normal until he starts noticing the same face at his crime scenes, over and over again. then things take a turn for the worst when that same man shows up at his auto repair shop. too many coincidences means only one thing can be true: obi-wan kenobi is a criminal mastermind and also anakin's arch nemesis. if only he'd drop the stuttering, softly spoken civilian disguise and act like it.

here's a snippet!:

“You,” Anakin breathes. The first time they’d met, the man had been in the middle of a bank robbery. As a victim, mind, looking roughed up and kneeling on the floor of his bank, checkbook still sticking comically out of his front pocket. His lip had been busted. He hadn’t been wearing glasses, and his right eye had been swelling rapidly. Out of all the bank hostages, he’d been the only one hurt. After the robbers had been tied up with their own grappling hooks, threat successfully neutralized, and actual police on the way, Anakin had stopped to examine the civilian’s wounds.  “What did you do, try to escape?” he’d said, tilting the stranger’s chin up to get a better look at the cut across his upper lip. The stranger’s breath had been warm across the exposed half of Anakin’s face. He had quite startling eyes, Anakin couldn’t help but notice. “No,” the man had replied. “But I’ve been told I’ve got a smart mouth. Suppose they weren’t fans.” “You…did you, the hostage, give lip to the hostage takers? The ones with the guns?” Anakin had asked. “Sir,” he’d added, because he’d never be a cape but he was a goddamn professional.

i told myself i wouldn't post this because i think it's most impactful within the context of the movie itself, as well as having gotten to know the characters a bit beforehand... but i can't Not post it because every time i watch it (which is often) i bawl like a baby and i just need people to see this. literally astounding that the same franchise that has a kid taking his pants off and flirting with women can be this emotionally profound. this movie is the hardest i've ever cried at any movie before!!! nostalgia is the central focus of the story too which really hit me hard... likewise, Hiroshi's been shaping up to be my favorite (maybe even because of this very sequence! who knows) so just. AGHHH. even without a solid understanding of the characters of movie-specific context, i hope this moves you as much as it moves me (from Movie 9: The Adult Empire Strikes Back)
