what about Daniel and Max never being big on pet names, especially Daniel only using pet names in a joke-y way. But then he starts noticing that Max does use pet names, just not with him? He will call the cats sweet things in both english and dutch, he calls his nephews liefje and he has heard him call his gaming buddies "darling" more than once. Max also talks to himself and to inanimate objects a lot, and one day he hears him say "thanks babe" to the fridge after getting a beer.
And it's not like he's jealous or something, he doesn't care, but it still makes him feel a bit weird. And yeah, maybe he's a little bit jealous, because that's not really fair, is it? But it feels embarrassing to tell that to Max, they're not that kind of cutesy couple, so he stews on it and gets a little bit more annoyed every time it happens.
Max notices that he's acting a bit weird, but he doesn't remember doing anything wrong or any kind of fight, so he assumes it's something Daniel related and not Max-and-Daniel related. He cuddles a little closer at night and does ask once if anything was wrong, but Daniel tells him nothing so he leaves it alone.
And then one night, after Max is done gaming he goes to the couch where Daniel is very clearly angry and is like uuuh did something happen? And Daniel tells him "no, nothing, just my boyfriend liking me less than anything else in his life" because he's hurt and embarrassed and annoyed and he knows he's not being fair, but at the moment he doesn't care. Max is hurt, because how could Daniel even say that? They weren't even fighting that he knew of! Daniel hadn't been ignoring him or slamming doors or calling names, so how could he know he was mad at him? It's all really unfair, so obviously he gets immediately defensive and somehow it degenerates in a fight that doesn't make sense because Max doesn't know why they're fighting and Daniel is embarrassed and increasingly angry at himself.
At some point Max just grabs his keys and phone and leaves to cool off and Daniel feels super bad, knowing it was all his fault and he should have just said something instead of blowing it all out of proportions. When Max comes back Daniel is already in bed but he's awake and Max asks him if he wants him to sleep on the couch and Daniel is horrified because first of all, no, and second of all it's a sign Max thinks he has been doing something wrong and should be sent to the couch even if he doesn't know why. Finally, that's enough and he just blurts out "it's because you never call me darling".
And Max is like ??????? because he wasn't aware Daniel wanted to and also all this for that???? so he sits down and tells Daniel to explain and Daniel explains. He's looking down at his hands and keeps picking at his fingers until Max stops him and he hates how embarrassed he is the whole time, but he explains and it feels extra silly after putting it all out there.
When he's done, Max tells him he was being very silly and he will of course call him anything he wants, he just likes calling him Daniel because Daniel is already a word that has all the love in it and Daniel maybe sort of dies there.
And then they kiss and Max calls him schatje and Daniel for sure must be dead.
Max still doesn't love being called pet names, but uses all the ones he knows for Daniel and Daniel loves it every time until Max moans baby during sex and Daniel comes on the spot. He's still very embarrassed about that one.

Ramblings about BNHA chap 378
So now we are at 378…
…and I’ve mixed feelings for it.
Why?
Because it has plenty of things that are good… but also feels like… rushed and well, considering Horikoshi was hoping to end BNHA with the end of the past year, I can understand he feels like rushing it but still…
Also… the whole scene is broken more than once to switch back and forth to various groups. So, for simplicity sake I’ll actually jump and forth as well to connect all the pieces so that we’ll follow the fate of a character and than of another in a more ordered manner instead than jump back and forth.
So we start with…
THE ‘FIGHT’ BETWEEN LA BRAVA AND SKEPTIC
This fight should have been planned long ago because, back in chap 230, Skeptic has rejected Re-Destro’s accusations of having failed with Jin and has stated proudly he only failed once in his life, and that one with Jin wasn’t failure (yeah, sure he wasn’t, and AFO is just a harmless old guy) and now it turn out his failure was being unable to stop La Brava when, just for practice, she wormed her way into Feel Good Inc.’s server to replace their ads with images of cats. And, to add insult to injury, she informs Skeptic of her having been the one behind it.
So, you see, this was planned long ago, it’s not something that Horikoshi thought last minute.
But how the whole thing goes?
Skeptic is evidently still traumatized by it and by the huge financial hit they took back then and… and his battle with La Brava is… well, nonexistent as he immediately concedes defeat realizing she’s taking over every single one of his systems and take care to inform her he won’t let her take control of U.A. or the evacuation system as well that he’s fleeing so it doesn’t matter if she figured out where he is.
Flash forward into the chapter a bit and it turns out that actually La Brava has already gave away Skeptic’s location and there were conveniently a group of heroes nearby so Skeptic won’t even manage to escape. For him it’s a complete failure.
Meanwhile U.A. altitude is continuing to drop. Due to Skeptic? No, apparently the system got wrecked due to that last impact so La Brava should code a brand new program for it to keep working and keep U.A. in the air only there’s not enough time for her to do that.
So, okay, first break here.
This was a planned fight and I’m so glad La Brava is back and I don’t really like Skeptic and it’s an interesting idea to have a hacker fight a hacker to save the day but their whole fight is… meh.
Basically, as soon as La Brava showed up, she won the battle and, despite what Skeptic says, the reason why U.A. is dropping isn’t that he controls its system but that the system got wrecked by the last impact.
There’s no real battle, there even was a confrontation as Skeptic had no idea La Brava was there until she was and won. And while this brings over the idea that La Brava is oh so good as a hacker… well, it would have been good if it had more air to breathe.
So, great to have a confrontation with La Brava and Skeptic and La Brava being his only failure but… for me it needed more time. It needed Skeptic to try to fight and lose instead than basically concede he has lost the fight immediately. But maybe it’s just me.
Anyway back to the story.
THE POLICE
Back to where La Brava is, a nameless policeman with glasses, after hearing from La Brava she doesn’t have enough time to create a brand new program, complains that they shouldn’t have let their final defense line to Villains.
Tsukauchi hears him yelling such things and quietly says a crime is a crime and they can’t erase the past but it’s not always a lost cause. And when he says so he thinks to Aoyama.
And we go back to why this part is Very Good and why instead… it’s not.
It’s very good because it conveys how society is so prejudiced against Villains they would attack them even when it’s, to put it simply, plainly stupid.
I mean, La Brava wasn’t chosen to be there because she was a Villain but due to her impressive hacking abilities. If they picked her up, it wasn’t to be nice with a Villain, it was because they didn’t have a better person for the job… because if they had they should have just used it.
So if she can’t be fast enough to write the code, no one could have done it, regardless of them being Villains or not. Implying her inability to do it is just due to her being a Villain is stupid. She can’t because there’s no time. The nameless policeman is doing it solely because he’s prejudiced.
Tsukauchi acknowledging that yes, crimes are crimes and the past can’t be changed but trusting Villains isn’t always a lost cause, lays down the basis for finding a way to deal with Villains that isn’t just beating them and then jailing them. It’s basically the war’s very first verbal step to set up a plot in which Shigaraki (and possibly Himiko and Touya) are viewed not like lost causes but as something that could actually change page (well, actually Gori did so when he dealt with Gentle in chap 183 but it’s not bad to get a reminder right at this point of the story). I’ll flash forward a bit and say that Tsukauchi will continue saying important things like “No matter how far they’ve fallen, each villain is still a human being. It’s on us to recognize that about them. We absolutely have to” and “Deep within each of their hearts we’ll find their starting point- their origin.”
So yeah, the story is really using Tsukauchi to bring forward the idea that Villains aren’t just horrible, hopeless creatures as the jailers of Tartarus implied in chap 297.
Now, to be clear, the one of the jailers in chap 297 was a horrible mindsetting, they made clear they wouldn’t have minded if Gigantomachia was just killed as they didn’t see him as a human nor they saw as humans the prisoners they guarded and they have plenty of accusations of human rights violations.
And when we see how the prisoners are handled in Tartarus… well some are kept in a state that would make Arkham Asylum looks like a holiday resort.
So, back to this chapter, it’s good we finally have someone acknowledge this about the Villains. That they are human and that they aren’t hopeless. This is very good, as finally we’re going somewhere in this direction.
What’s not so good?
For start a recurring problem of BNHA, which is that the dark side of hero society is often unrepresented. The nameless policeman with glasses, who represents the people in the police who thinks Villains are hopeless is ONE mob character. He voices the prejudices of society but it’s no one we can hold as ‘representation’, especially against the majority of named and known characters who are actually good.
Tsuragamae was willing to bend rules so as not to get in troubles Midoriya, Shouto and Iida, we’ve heard what Tsukauchi says and I’ve already mentioned how Gori was overall nice with Gentle Criminal.
This ends up making it seem as if people who would react like nameless policeman with glasses are less of a problem because they hardly appear in the story, since they end up being represented by one background character.
And this isn’t the sole circumstance in which this happens.
We’ve learnt there are heroes who’re all but… however the near totality of heroes or heroes in training we see are good people who genuinely want to do good.
Slidin Go is negligible and his crime was basically to be aligned with the Meta Liberation Army and feeling himself overly important, nothing as dark as the people Nagant mentioned but we never had to deal with nor saw.
Nagant is represented as manipulated by the Hero Commission and ultimately rebelling to it, so again, she represents someone who was good, got manipulated but is still good deep inside and, if you allow me to jumpo forward again, in this chapter, will show she’s back with the good guys.
We don’t see Hawks doing something wrong beyond killing Twice, there’s the implication he too might have murdered like Lady Nagant but we have no info about it and the story paints him as a genuinely good person who actually wanted to save Jin even though he ended up deciding on killing him under the belief this would save more lives.
Endeavor is a terrible father but a very good hero and the story places him on a path of atonement/redemption, him having acknowledged his mistakes so, although many fans still hadn’t forgiven him… well, the story doesn’t want to paint him as someone we should hate.
Well, this leaves us without a hero who’s a terrible person and who’s okay with being terrible and is a problem the protagonists have to deal with.
We can say the dark side is represented by the Hero Commission… but the hero commission is soon disposed, actually it’s disposed before we’ll learn of its dark side, so we’re left with nothing.
The president of the hero commission who turned Nagant into a killer and would have killed her off if she resigned, was killed off before the story started, and madam president was represented as a tamer version of him (she didn’t want to kill Nagant and stuck her into Tartarus) and she’s also killed off rather quickly.
And the same goes for those who’re discriminatory toward Heteromorphs, the creature rejection clan being killed off pretty quickly. Yeah, the kids made some rude comments toward Shouji, but it’s mostly waved away with the kids being ignorant about how it was cruel to say such things to him (because city people don’t know about the plight of Heteromorphs) and them apologizing. And yeah, there were the guys who rejected the giant lady, but that can also be washed away with people being in panic due to the situation and, anyway, again, they were unnamed guys.
Someone gave Shouji’s scars, but all this is reduced into a quick flashback.
So we’ve these HUGE problems that plague society and cause people to turn into Villains or make hero Villains who however keeps on being labelled as heroes but… there’s no real representation for them, they’re just an information, a quick glimpse.
Why all this is relevant?
Because in a story you need all this to be represented by characters… to be visible.
When the Villains go and attack ‘hero society’ and there’s no one who’s the face of the dark side of hero society and all we see of heroes are nice heroes it kind of undermines the point the Villains are making.
Readers get feelings for characters that see and know. But here there’s hardly someone we know and we can feel angry/disgusted about so, even if we know some things are bad… we aren’t lead to feel them on an empathic level, we aren’t helped to care.
It’s much more heart wrecking and easy to remember how Stain hurt Iida’s brother than how there were heroes who pushed civilians into becoming Villains to then hunt them down so as to collect rewards, or how Nagant was deployed to kill people who were only talking about committing criminal acts.
Because through Iida we care about his brother (and if you’ve read “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” you care about Tensei as he’s a recurring character there) than about those guys.
So this is a problem of under representation… which is actually pretty relevant because society is actually terrible.
I mean, Tsukauchi implied Aoyama too is technically considered a Villain, Aoyama, a teen who was blackmailed by the greatest demon lord of all due to something his family did for him.
I might understand if he had tried blaming his parents, as they knew what they were getting themselves into but Aoyama? Aoyama is a victim, a scared teen who fears he has no one to turn for help.
If society wants to see him as a Villain on par of willing murderers… well, there’s something seriously wrong to society.
But no, let’s focus on how Tsukauchi says positive things about Villains. Glasses guy will likely disappear in the background soon, after all, to leave us with the impression the world is moving in the right direction because Tsukauchi, thinking to Aoyama, has finally realized that Villains are humans.
And this also kind of feel rushed because the implication is that Tsukauchi came to feel so due to Aoyama (because this is actually such a dark world where it feels normal not to consider Villains as humans), so he made a huge leap but… the thing doesn’t really transition well because we don’t really spend time on it.
It feels as if Tsukauchi has transitioned from ‘Villains are hopeless monsters’ to ‘wait, Aoyama despite being a Villain isn’t a hopeless monster because he’s helping us, so all the Villains are also humans’ which is a way too abrupt 180° turn.
And even if we assume that no, Tsukauchi was already thinking so (but in chap 340, although he said he sympathized he still held him accountable for ‘turning his back on decent society’, you know, the one who doesn’t bat an eyelash to violation of human rights in Tartarus, to Endeavor abusing his family and which the hero commission built secretly sniping away whoever would damage its image) and Aoyama merely confirmed this idea… the fact that Aoyama is considered the proof a Villain can be a human and not hopeless still makes the whole thing weak. This 180° turn needed more time to take place. Not long ago All Might himself was waving off Touya as just ‘the madman Dabi’ [Chap 335] likely not referring just to how he was willing to burn himself to reach his own goal, because a better definition for it would have been ‘suicidal’ but just to how he was willing to turn against the father who abused him and society who supported his father.
And now we see Villains as humans and not hopeless?
It’s great but really, we need to explore how this jump in view came to be, otherwise it’s just jumped out of nowhere for the sake of the story.
Whatever, maybe it’s just me.
Back to the story we return to…
MIDORIYA AND SHIGARAKI
On top of panels depicting them in a parallel way we’ve what Shigaraki said previously.
“I am your villain. I don’t care if you don’t understand. That’s what makes us heroes and villains.”
It summarizes the situation but also the problem Midoriya has to overcome. He has to break the division, the idea there are two clear cut groups, one for the heroes and one for the villains and the only way to do so is through UNDERSTANDING Shigaraki. It’s the thing Shouto failed to do with his brother, deciding he would only try to stop him, and the thing both Midoriya and Ochako failed to do with Himiko and the think Hawks failed to do with Jin, we saw that it lead them to get 0 results, actually it only worsened the situation.
The less the Villains feel understood the harder they attack.
The scene though is interrupted again to show UA is still falling and about to crash, as well as filled with Twice’s clones when… someone appears. The scene is technically interrupted to show Skeptic being captured as I anticipated previously and, when we come back to it we discover said someone is…
GENTLE CRIMINAL
So Gentle Criminal is back, of course, and he’s here to save the day.
A flashback, which took place a month and a half ago, starts showing Muscolar freeing the prisoners in Mikuzu Prison, telling them that their lives were their own so they can live as they see fit. You might remember that when AFO began to free convicts we learnt that 7 prisons came under attack but prisoners didn’t manage to escape only from a prison… and this thanks to Gentle who, feeling regret for having walked down the wrong path, manages to stop them all.
As a thank you for this they allowed him to see again La Brava.
Now… it’s great that they had Gentle have his great moment but… he magically did it all on his own when previously he didn’t seem that stronger and, what’s more, he’s the only one Villain who actually try to stop the others. In a chapter that tries to bring forward the idea that Villains can change… the fact that only one prisoner stood up to stop the others, make it looks as if it’s exceedingly rare since the other Villains are all depicted as wanting to escape and do violent acts.
It would have worked much better if other prisoners were to join Gentle in his fight, proving Gentle isn’t the exception, that there’s more people like him.
Never mentioning Gentle wasn’t really a violent criminal or something like that, acting for the pleasure to hurt others, same as La Brava, same as Aoyama, so it seems to carry the message that the Villains who aren’t hopeless are the ones who committed minor, non violent crimes.
Muscolar, for example, is never shown having a good reason to be a Villain and doesn’t regret murdering people.
And if we go to Nagant, who did murder people, well, society would probably excuse her the way they did with Hawks murdering people, as those murders were for the better of society so… we really needed more to carry on the intended message.
But it’s easier and faster to focus just on Gentle and having solely him here so…
Anyway, back to present Gentle uses his power to make things elastic to turn air elastic and therefore catch the falling U.A. reminding us what was what lead him to become who he was, he wanted to become a hero and tried to save someone who’d fallen, but since he failed his life ended up ruined.
He was expelled from school, his parents grew desperate, he was targeted of bullying and chased away by his own family until he came to believe his dreams were dead and gave up on them, deciding to become a Villain. It wasn’t this great Villain origin story, but the core of it was he actually wanted to be a hero, and this time (likely combining his quirk with La Brava’s) he gets to save tons of people from falling and THIS IS GREAT.
Gentle wonders if Midoriya too is fighting for the happiness of other people, and Midoriya is touched by how Gentle came to his help.
So we’ve reached…
THE ENDING OF THE CHAPTER OR LADY NAGANT IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
In fact the chapter ends with Shigaraki trying to use his quirk but Lady Nagant, with one of her bullets, basically rips his hand away (and all the while we have the previously mentioned scene of Tsukauchi saying “No matter how far they’ve fallen, each villain is still a human being. It’s on us to recognize that about them. We absolutely have to” and “Deep within each of their hearts we’ll find their starting point- their origin.”).
And by the way, it’s great to see Lady Nagant as well, I LOVE HER!, she’s all bandaged so she’s probably not well but it’s great to see her only it feels weird she had been quiet up until the story required her to act. I mean, what about saving Katsuki previously? But, who cares, I’m glad she’s back.
However… even though Lady Nagant ultimately agreed to help Midoriya by giving him info about AFO, she didn’t seem so into it she would stand up against AFO (and Shigaraki), so again, her deciding to be there feels rushed. And yes, maybe next chapter will devote a page or two about why she came there but still…
So, overall, there’s A LOT OF GREAT THINGS IN THIS CHAPTER but… I think they could have benefitted of being developed in more time.
But I guess we can’t have all and I’m glad to see that the story seems to be turning toward a point in which people will consider understanding Shigaraki as a way to deal with the conflict and save him instead than just beating him harder as a way to stop him or force him to comply.
I only wish the story had spent more time setting up the stage for how the characters acted here than how it tossed them here abruptly. But whatever, maybe that’s just me.

Burned Beginnings, Chapter 7
<<Previous  Next>>
19. You’re Beautiful
Marinette probably should have gone back to her own room for the evening. Then maybe she wouldn’t have found herself in this situation.
But then again, she couldn’t find herself to fully regret her situation, either.
Adrien’s strong arms pulled her closer to his chest as he pressed a kiss on her neck, and she grabbed his shirt tighter as a whine escaped her. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered against her skin, sending shivers down her spine.
Sure, sure; but she was also in trouble.
The evening had started out innocent enough. They once again had brought dinner back to the hotel so they could talk and be obnoxious without disrupting the other people at the restaurant. But dinner had turned into snuggling, which turned into kissing, which turned into Adrien having Marinette pinned to the bed while he lavished attention on her.
Geez, they were going home in two days, and she was going to be covered with hickies at this rate. She figured she was only okay with that if—
“Ah! Adrien,” she moaned as he kissed her pulse point. “Stop that.”
“Stop what?” he challenged, his voice low, husky, and hot against her skin.
She groaned. How did this man go from “best friend” to “snogging her senseless” in the span of a day?
Better question: how did she become so okay with it?
He tapped one more open-mouth kiss to her neck before pulling away, propping himself up on his elbows to meet her gaze. “Too much?” he asked, voice laced with a hint of concern.
This is my chance.
She contorted herself so as to get just enough leverage to throw Adrien off her, rolling him over to the other side of the bed so now she was laying on top of him.
The shock on his face stoked the already hot fire in her. While this wasn’t much better a situation and she still found herself up to her neck in trouble, she did find this fun.
Actually, she might find herself in more trouble like this. She did always love having the upper hand on him.
“Fair’s fair,” she purred, voice low as she straddled him, giving her the best angle to lean forward to his neck.
Adrien’s chuckle was flirty and deep. It wasn’t fair that he was this sexy, dang it. And it was worse when he grabbed hold of her hips. She gasped at his contact before her lips could hit his neck.
“Oh?” he purred. “You gonna leave marks on me now? Is that how it is?”
She didn’t bother answering—her voice was gone, anyway—and let her kiss on his neck answer that for him.
He growled, his fingers digging deeper into her hips. “Yeah yeah, fair’s fair,” he said, voice strained. “But let me warn you, princess, at this rate, this is only gonna last a little while longer before I kick you out.”
Worried she might have crossed a line, Marinette pulled away a bit, her brows furrowed. What she hadn’t expected was Adrien hissing at the movement and grabbing her thighs to keep her from leaning back any further. She gasped at his sudden grip, face flooding with heat. “W-why?” she stuttered out.
Adrien’s smile almost looked strained. “Last thing I want to do is go way too far too fast, Princess. And you’re really testing me, at the moment.”
“Is that a bad thing?” she asked, beginning to back off.
“No, just something to keep in mind for when I hit the brakes on this thing.”
A wicked smile crossed her lips. “Noted.”
With that, she leaned forward to keep pressing kisses to his face and neck and collarbone, returning all the attention he’d given to her with a new mission in mind.
How fast could she make him kick her out?
 20. Passionfruit
Adrien couldn’t help but be nervous. He was dating his bosses’ daughter.
He knew he and Marinette wouldn’t hide the fact they’d gotten together. But as they sipped on a couple of smoothies they’d gotten before they hit the airport, they were debating if they wanted to tell her parents the truth or lie a bit and wait until a week passed by to break it to Tom and Sabine so he and Marinette could play off like they’d spent the trip as just friends and nothing happened between them.
For example, like they hadn’t swapped hickies in his room two nights in a row.
Adrien had had to grab make-up to cover the ones Marinette left on him. She’d looked way too smug about it, too.
“Why you gotta cover them up?” she’d teased, watching as he expertly put on the concealer.
He’d just glared at her. “Because I want to live.”
“Aww, come on, be brave,” she’d joked, shooting him a wink.
“Do you not want to be with me? Because if I die, you’ll be alone, too.”
Marinette had just shrugged. “Meh, I’m cool with that.”
“Wait! Marinette! Marinette!”
She was lucky she was cute and could get away with those things. Problem was she knew she could get away with those things, which only caused a headache for him.
Why was he dating her again?
Eh, give it ten minutes, and he’d be reminded why.
“I think I just want to be honest with them.”
Adrien looked down at Marinette. “Huh?”
“My parents,” she answered. “I don’t want to lie to them about it. I don’t want to give them any reason to make them question their trust in me. So we’ll tell them the truth. Besides, they do like you a lot. I don’t think they’ll be disappointed or anything.”
Adrien nodded. “I agree. I don’t want to lie to them, either. They put a lot of trust in me to take you to New York and keep you safe and all. I don’t want to make them question their trust in me, either.”
Marinette smiled. “So, we have a plan, then?”
“When do we tell them?”
“They’re making us dinner for when we arrive back there. We’ll tell them, then.”
Adrien’s brow furrowed. “We’ll be getting back late, though. Is it okay for them to wait up for us?”
“They insisted,” Marinette said with a shrug. “And you know them: they wouldn’t hear otherwise.”
That was true. They would insist staying tup to check over their daughter when she arrived back at the very least.
“So, we’ll tell them over dinner,” Marinette said. “I’ll lead.”
Adrien nodded. “Okay, then it sounds like we have a plan.”
When Marinette grinned, his heart was put at ease. “Sounds like a plan.”
She was the one who leaned forward, but Adrien was more than happy to meet her more than halfway. She always tasted sweet, but today, she was doubly so. And he wasn’t sure if that was because of the passionfruit on her lips or just pure coincidence.
 21. Kittens
Marinette was looking at the numerous cats and kittens that filled her sketchbook, but she just wasn’t liking any of them.
With a sigh, she pushed it aside and snuck up to her balcony to cool her head in the night air. It had been almost two months since she and Adrien had gone on their New York trip where they’d ended up confessing, and they’d been going strong ever since.
She had been so nervous to tell her parents, but much to her surprise, they didn’t seem very surprised at all. Instead, both her and Adrien had watched in shock as her papa slid money over to her maman.
“As owners of this bakery, we are not oblivious to its innerworkings,” her maman had said, beaming grin on her face as she took the money. “With you two as close as you were, it was only a matter of time before you two got together. I guessed it would happen during the trip, but Tom thought it would happen after. So I won.”
“Maman!”
While she had been feeling minorly mortified, Adrien had simply doubled over laughing, finding the whole thing hilarious.
Part of her could not believe her parents did that while the other part of her was relieved that her parents took it in stride and practically accepted Adrien as their own already.
Occasionally, she got to thinking about when Adrien would actually become part of the family. Yes, they’d only been dating for 2 months, but Marinette didn’t feel like it was impulsive to think that they worked together and would for a long time. She’d known him for almost a year now, and they’d somehow clicked quickly and had become very close friends before they’d started dating. She didn’t think it was a stretch to say she could see a future with him.
Actually, it was much harder to imagine a future without him and his teasing and his support and his nerdy love of anime and… and so many other things that now made up her daily life.
He matched her perfectly, being both her equal and perfect counter.
Perfect counter…
Inspiration struck her, filling her with a second wind as a night breeze rolled across Paris. But she barely noticed it as she slipped back down her hatch and headed back to her sketchbook.

Beauty and The Beast
ft. familial relationships
A platonic JasonXSteph      pre-romantic TimSteph
Background:
The batfamily are loyal protectors. A mix between knights a vigilantes. Jason dies. Jason gets resurrected via the pit. Jason comes back pissed. He returns home though, doesn’t go on a killing spree, slowly incorporates back into the family.
Jason still dislikes Tim, (Replacement) and Damian (Demon Brat). He is still bitter at Bruce, (B stands for bitch) and resenting Dick(Golden boy/perfect child). He loves Cass (hard not to.)
Anyways something happens, maybe he’s benched Demon Spawns not, pit rage occurs, a guest pops by the door.
Guest is treated rudely and prepares to curse entire family.
Alfred and Bruce welcome her in.
She doesn’t curse yet.
Hears Jason wish he didn’t have family. Family sucks.
Curses him into a beast, transforms his servants into furniture, telling him if he doesn’t feel brotherly love and learn to appreciate family, they’ll stick. The family (Ohana Bitches) intervene to give him a shot to fix this.
They sacrifice their voices/bodies for time. Each person earns Jason an extra 20 years. (100 total) His family members are like ghosts, unable to communicate with Jason besides occasional impressions. They’ll be back if he ever breaks the curse.
Jason is horrified at himself and sinks deep into depression. The pit madness rages more often than not. Time is passing all to quickly...
Start of Story:
Meet Steph. She is a pretty girl, but all to smart and spirited for her village. She loves her mother, another smart woman, an nurse from the city who moved from the country at the behest of her controlling husband.
Meet the controlling husband, Arthur Brown, aka the “Gaston” of the story.
He is not a good person, or father, but the town loves him.
He wants a “perfect” daughter. Timid, reserved, demure. Steph is resisting, but soon she won’t be able to put him off.
Her mother goes into the city for special herbs, needed as the village healer. She ends up seeking refuge in the beast’s castle.
Alfred, who previously disconnected from the Waynes, becoming more butler than grandpa to keep Jason company, takes care of her.
Jason flashes back to the last woman whom they invited in and pit madness overtakes him. He throws her in the dungeons.
Steph comes looking for her mother, running towards the terrifying castle because without her mom, Arthur Brown would bend her quickly to his will.
Steph and Jason’s first meeting was... A disaster.
Think Steph screaming, think Jason screaming back. Think Alfred pushing her into the guest bedroom as the Waynes try to calm Jason the fuck down so he can use the girl to break the curse.
They are in an awkward limbo for days.
Alfred, fed up, escorts Mrs. Brown out in exchange for Stephanie, after explaining what the very aro/ace Jason will need from Steph. (Basically reassurance that Steph would be trapped, but zero chance of getting raped or seduced.)
Because she must not think of him a brother purely for the curse, Steph doesn’t get the full story.
The first week and a half is Jason avoiding the fuck out of Stephanie and being annoyed at Alfred’s deal.
Steph is terrified. She rashly agreed to this deal including spending time with a giant strong monster, Alfred is kind, but she hasn’t seen the silver candlestick since he broke the rules. She is fearing for his safety.
Alfred’s fine, just giving Jason an I’m so disappointed in you silence.”
Eventually, Steph starts poking around.
To preserve his brother’s privacy, he stops her before she can go into the family wing, and has Alfred show her the library. Steph is bored.
She pokes around more. Jason bodily stands in her way.
She persistently pokes him into spending time together. Listen, She is really fucking bored out of her mind.
Alfred refuses to show her the training room, so Jason has to do it.
Less than a month later, he caves. (Steph is annoying persistent)
Her eyes light up at the sight of punching bags and Cass’ equipment, that girls were allowed to fight maybe she could.
She doesn’t ask for permission.
He catches her throwing a fucking terrible punch.
He can’t let that stand.
The fam watches in glee, as the blonde pokes every single one of his buttons, and accidentally/unknowingly manipulates him into spending time with her. (Tim might just be falling in love)
(She out of his league, like a lot)
Invisible family thinks it’s adorable.
Alfred tells her the history of the manor, and about the Batfam spirits. They comfort her when she gets scared, an impression of warmth and safety.
She learns to differentiate. She notices Tim spending a lot of time, doesn’t know it’s Tim. Alfred Knows. Alfred knows all.
Eventually Jason begins liking teaching, and instead of just a harsh taskmaster, he becomes more of a mentor.
Coins her Spoiler after hearing about how she resists her shitty dad.
Winter comes. He teaches her siege warfare and silent moving through snowball fights and games.
He teachers her piano. How the fuck is his voice that nice?
He teachers her to cook and they have ingredient fights. If she can get him in a good mood, he’ll tell silly stories about his family, going all wistful.
Good things come to an end. She gets word that her father is beating Mrs. Brown because she managed to escape. It’s her fault, her mother is getting hurt.
A worried Jason bans her from going home.
Steph runs away anyways, with a purple cloak streaming behind her.
Wolves attack. She can’t hold them all off.
The Red Hood makes an appearance, saving her life.
The Pit rage comes back, he almost couldn’t protect her. Suddenly her broken body gets replaced with, little Timbo’s, babybat’s, his dad’s, Big Wing’s, and Cass’. All gone because he couldn’t control himself. The depression returns full force.
He barricades himself in his room.
Steph punches the punching bag, often. She knows she fucked up. She misses her mentor. Things deteriorate.
The orange rose petals are almost out.
Jason, unable to stand the sight of Steph after associating her with his family, sends a carriage for her to take home, gives her weapons to stand up for herself easier.
Steph, split worried between her mother and Jason, takes the opportunity to go home, as Jason will have Alfred, but her mom has nobody.
She gets home to try to protect her mother, and her father captures her and puts her in a shock color that is programmed to send a jolt of electricity each time he presses the button. (Aka when she disobeys)
Arthur Brown, annoyed that she had been protected from him for that long, and dismayed that she had learned to fight, (That punch to his face was beautiful Steph, the whole Batfam is proud.) Decides to storm Wayne castle.
Mrs. Brown (’cause I still don’t know her name) notices Steph looking troubled and tells her to escape and send a warning to her new family.
Steph denies the family part twice before her mom shuts her up with a look and pretty much said, “Steph, he’s like, your perfect older brother. You guys even have nicknames.”
Steph realizes she’s right.
Steph disables collar and runs toward the manor, taking the conveniently located, super secret passage.
(She didn’t take it home initially because she didn’t know, then Alfred told her after the wolf attack, but it wasn’t an emergency because Jason prepped a carriage.)
So Steph arrives as her father does, he is still the better fighter, so Jason goes up against Arthur Brown as Steph and the furniture/servants take out the mob.
As they are fighting, it is, of course, the perfect time for a heart-to-heart.
“Why did you come back?/Why did you avoid me?”
“I can’t lose my brother!/I can’t stand seeing my family hurting!”
“What?!?/What!?!
“Cool/Sup.”
Arthur Brown gets a lucky hit in when the two are dramatically confessing their new familial bonds.
Jason falls.
Arthur gloats.
Steph knocks him the fuck out. (Heartwarming)
Steph then bear hugs Jason, Jason pecks her forehead.
Swirl of magic...
The servants turn human, the Waynes resolidify. There is a beautiful reunion. Oh, Jason also rebecomes human. (Meh)
Bonus-
As Tim is reforming, Dick shoves him towards Steph. All the bats think a blushing Tim would be hilarious.
He ends up a little to close.
Steph seeing a person she does not know directly in her personal space. Promptly bends down and yeets the brick she is holding. (Mwahahaha)
It was the start of a beautiful romance for the ages.

I did this Tier Ranking the other day of Zelda’s with the most to least amount of agency in their games, and I’m going to be honest... I’m still thinking about it. I was getting so annoyed when I played SS the other day because of something that happens that made me mad. So now, I’m going to rant about every single Zelda because she deserves better.
This is my short essay on which Zelda’s have agency in their games and why. Omg if only I could have done that topic in grad school.
Tumblr media
So this was my list.
Before you keep going, this is just spoiler central. So, if you haven’t played, say SS yet, heads up.
I’m going to start by saying I’ve never played the Four Swords games nor watched a playthrough. IDK why there are 4 of her, but maybe it’s just ironic to have 4 of them? But that’s my ‘don’t know’ pile. Maybe she’s epic, but I remember her being captured by Vaati in an intro to the GBA game, so I doubt it.
~~~
Most Agency: Wind Waker Tetra, Sheik, and Spirit Tracks Zelda
I almost feel like this part of the list goes without saying. Tetra (WW) is a queen. She’s a captain, has a crew, goes where she wants, helps Link, hurts Link, literally, queen.
Sheik should also go without saying. We don’t see a lot of Sheik actually doing things, but we know she’s doing them. She’s been all over Hyrule for 7 years training, and keeping the world spinning. During the game alone, we know she’s out there rescuing Ruto, trying to fight the spirits in the well, etc. So we don’t see it, but we know it.
And Spirit Tracks Zelda! SHE’S YOUR LITERAL COMPANION!!! SHE’S WITH YOU THE WHOLE GAME, FINDS A WAY TO FIGHT, HELPS, IS FUNNY, IS ACTIVE IN THE KINGDOM, AND IS AN ALL AROUND UNDERATED ZELDA. She lost a little agency because she has no body, but she didn’t let it stop her.
~~~
Good Agency: OOT Zelda, BOTW Zelda, TP Zelda
This is the “I’m in danger of being smited for including these three here” pile. OOT Zelda isn’t in it for long as adult Zelda, and she does get trapped in a crystal almost immediately, but you know she was training for years and managed to stay out of sight of Ganon. And at the end, she holds up an entire castle for you to escape. I want her on my team, but I’d prefer Sheik. Plus, this Zelda is one in SSB sooo does that count? I don’t think so but whatever. I wanted to put her lower, but I was thinking of her off screen and she managed to make it up into the ‘good’ agency pile.
BOTW Zelda. She’s got a lot more agency in AOC than BOTW because she just runs around and basically commands the whole kingdom's army after a while, but in BOTW, she’s held back by everyone! She had the potential! She wasn’t a damsel, she was a smart cookie, she had character, but everyone was like nah girl. Go wander Hyrule doing stuff. And she did! Not because she had agency, but because everyone told her to. She wanted to work with the tech! Let her work with the tech!
And TP Zelda, my girl, I love the thought of this Zelda SO MUCH!! SHE HAS A SWORD!! SHE COULD HAVE USED IT IN THE GAME!! THE CUTSCENE WAS RIGHT THERE!!!!! But you know she defended Hyrule off screen anyway, literally fought with her soldiers to protect her people. Gave her literal life of her own accord, took full blame for things, like, no one told this girl no. She was full blown agency... except that she was locked in a tower for the whole game, then went poof, then got turned into a puppet, then only managed to show off her battle badassery in ONE SCENE aka one of the best multi-stage final boss battles. Just could have pushed her further.
~~~
Okay Agency: Child OOT Zelda, SS Zelda, ALBW Zelda
Child Zelda. She’s a child. She gave Link an instrument and was forcibly (but thankfully) spirited away on horseback. She doesn’t really DO much at this point. But she WILL! So she’s cool, but she’s just a wee sprout still!
SS Zelda: Don’t hit me! I love her, her general plot, and her relationship with Link. But she isn’t even allowed to hug him. She is dragged everywhere, captured MULTIPLE times, stuck in a big old amber crystal thing FOR I DON’T REMEMBER HOW LONG, nearly sacrificed, and is bombarded with memories of a life that wasn’t technically hers and she has to sort through being Hylia and not just Zelda. Poor bean. She’s not at the bottom because you can tell that before the game, she was top tier agency queen.
ALBW Zelda is just... meh. She’s not as bad as ALTTP Zelda, but she doesn’t really do much and then gets stuck in a painting for most of the game. Points if we’re counting Smash Bros again though!
~~~
NO AGENCY: ALTTP Zelda, Oracle Zelda, OG Zelda, Minish Cap Zelda, WW Zelda, PH Tetra, Zelda II Zelda.
ALTTP Zelda is just a sad, sad tale of ‘can you be more damsel in distress if you tried’? She: starts the game in a cell, hides in a sanctuary, is kidnapped again, is sacrificed, is stuck in a crystal, and finally, is chilling in the end credits. Girl. I’m so sorry for you.
Oracle Zelda is apparently the same Zelda as ALTTP and it shows. She hangs out in a house and tells you the weather and then (you guessed it) is kidnapped and nearly sacrificed. This poor bean has gone through too much.
OG Zelda literally pops up at the end of the game and is like HEY you’ve been trying to save me this whole time, in case you didn’t know. And Link’s like omg I have?? Because I don’t even remember her being mentioned outside the info pamphlet and the ending.
Out of order, but Zelda II, she’s the most relatable, because she sleeps the whole game. She’s under a curse, wakes up, sees Link and is like damn you’re cute, and kisses him. If we use the info booklet, it gets worse and her brother used a spell to blah blah. She sleeps. That’s all she does.
Minish Cap Zelda is so precious at the beginning of the game and you can tell her and Link are besties and I wanted more of that! AND THEN SHE’S TURNED TO STONE THE WHOLE GAME. But no, wait, she’s...... almost sacrificed in the process. Deja vu.
Wind Waker Zelda was cool in the final scene, but she spent her entire portion of the game trapped in a basement against her will for her protection. No agency. That’s really all the poor thing gets to do as Zelda.
THEN THE DIRTIEST OF ALL DONE DIRTY CHARACTER MOVES IS PHANTOM HOURGLASS TETRA! ONE OF THE BEST ZELDA’S REDUCED TO NOTHING! SHE IS CAPTURED IMMEDIATELY AND SPENDS THE ENTIRE GAME AS A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS WHO HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED AND TURNED TO STONE. I’m still salty and will hate Phantom Hourglass forever for many reasons, and Tetra being done dirty is one of them.
I feel better now. If anyone actually read all this and has other thoughts on this, I’m fired up and ready to talk because who needs to sleep at 1:30am? Not me!!

NAGITO IS COMPLICATED AS FUCK LIKE BRUH
I plan on remaking this into an actual proper analysis of Nagito's character and actions and how that compares to the rest of the characters in the series (boy, wonder when that'll be) but meh, we'll see.
For me, Nagito isn't a character that deserves all the extreme hatred he gets from not only his classmates but also the fandom, a lot of the characters can be biased and hypocritical and a lot of the people in the fandom usually act the same way either because they hate Nagito or just think he is overrated. Nagito is a complicated guy and boi is it hard to explain EVERY FUCKING ACTION HE DOES BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY DAMN LAYERS TO HIS MOTIVES LIKE WTF MAN
One example is that apparently there are so many reasons to him laughing and talking about hope whenever someone dies (oooh boi let's go)
His hope obsession. He uses this as a coping mechanism (albeit subconsciously) to deal with all of the trauma his luck cycle of despair and hope basically forces upon him his entire life. The reason why he talks about hope is he believes that no matter the trauma and despair they face, hope will always shine in the end. That is what he has been experiencing his entire life and honestly can't really blame the guy since he is bombarded with that fact on a daily basis.
Good intentions. And following this, Nagito also wants the others to not be in despair and to look forward to a brighter hop and future so they don't give up and keep fighting on. Otherwise, no one else will move forward and everyone will be too depressed to even try escaping the killing game. No matter how much you hate Nagito, you can't deny the guy loves the ultimates. He wants them to thrive and escape the killing game. The reason he kickstarted the killing game is so that everyone has a chance to escape this hell, even the blackened. He wants to cheer everyone up with each dead body that appears so no one gives up. Sadly, due to everyone viewing his cheering-up method as insensitive and hurtful, no one actually gets cheered up by him. And we know he does care about others due to how Danganronpa 2.5 shows us his dream world, everyone else getting good luck while he gets the bad luck, Alter-ego Hajime says it himself that that world really is Nagito's dream world.
His beliefs. Nagito thinks of his beliefs as fact. He thinks it's obvious that Hope will always win and despair is nothing compared to it. This is why he gets confused whenever someone doesn't understand him or share his views. The same goes for his views on talent. When he insults the talentless, for him talentless=useless is the same as 1+1=2. It's obvious to him, a fact. And it makes sense since this is what he has been led to believe his entire life thanks to Hope's Peak and the entire world of Danganronpa. Nagito is basically a commentary on the views of Hope, Despair, and talent in the world of Danganronpa. So this is why he comes of as ignorant or rude when in reality to Nagito, he just thinks he is stating a fact of life, common sense. He doesn't fully get how wrong it is because to him it's obvious from the day you are born.
His laugh. Nagito has stated in his island mode (btw the only canon thing about them is the personalities of the characters, not that they actually happen in-game or in canon, same goes for his free time events anyways) that he doesn't laugh because he is having fun, but due to him being surprised. Now imagine seeing dead bodies, anyone would be surprised right? Alright, then Nagito is reacting appropriately lmao. He doesn't enjoy seeing dead people, the guy even hates watching realistic horror movies due to it being too real for him (getting kidnapped, parents dying, etc). So yeah, Nagito doesn't like death, he just reacts differently from others
And that's just a few reasons for him laughing and talking about hope with every death, AND IT WAS JUST TO EXPLAIN THAT. JUST TO EXPLAIN A SIMPLE REACTION TO DEAD BODIES.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY ESSAYS I HAVE MADE JUST TO EXPLAINING EVERY TEENY REACTION AND ACTION HE DOES? THE GUY IS COMPLICATED AS FUCK AND I LOVE HIM BUT DAMN
But yeah, love yah you weird fluffy sad boi
Btw, this was taken from a reddit post of mine so if you wanna check that out, here https://www.reddit.com/r/danganronpa/comments/lpkq81/why_do_people_hate_nagito_again_the_characters/

My personal DA4 wishlist + thoughts
I’ve been teasing this post for a couple of weeks over at Twitter, i’m the worst! But anyway, since game journalism has decided to confirm, once again, that the next Dragon Age game will be set in Tevinter like that’s breaking news, now’s as good a time as ever to write all this down.
Locations: Tevinter, clearly. It’s been pretty much a given since the end of Trespasser in 2015, with that scene where the Inquisitor stabs a map on a table directly on Tevinter as they promise to go after Solas to stop him. But also concept art and several stories from Tevinter Nights heavily imply Antiva, Nevarra, the Anderfells, and maybe Rivain. For those of you who don’t know your Thedosian Geography 101, that’s basically Northern Thedas. And it makes sense, since so far for three games straight we’ve been first stuck in Ferelden, then the coast of the Free Marches, and later the rest of Southern Thedas. We’ve never been North, only heard of it. So in DA4 i’m sure we will finally be able to visit.
Characters: If we’re going to Tevinter, we must meet Dorian again, maybe meet Maevaris Tilani as well (previously only seen in comics), judging from the latest comics series, i’m hoping for Fenris too. And going by the latest teaser trailer, we might see Varric again. As for characters that so far we have no news of, i’d like to see Cole, the Iron Bull, and if by any chance BioWare feels like blessing us with a Hawke/Fenris reunion i might just die happy.  I’d also very much like to see the Inquisitor, but more on that later.
Companions: considering concept art and the latest teaser trailer, plus Tevinter Nights stories and new characters, we have an interesting repertoire of new potential companions. A Tevinter mage, an ancient elf (like a temple guardian) or a dalish elf (like Strife), a Nevarran mortalitasi or spirit, Antivan Crows, Lords of Fortune (new faction, kind of like treasure hunters), Qunari lady, maybe an alchemist or shapeshifter, Grey Wardens (possibly a dwarf), a liberated or escaped slave, a Siccari (Tevinter spies/assassins)..even past agents of the Inquisition could return.
Plot: We know Solas wants to take down the Veil. We know there’s two archdemons left, and Grey Wardens are regaining some spotlight in concept art lately. We might have to fight on multiple fronts simultaneously and be strategic about it. Solas might even unleash a double Blight just to keep us distracted while he focus on his own goal, who knows. But many other things are happenig in the margins and all over the place. The Qunari Antaam is having a crisis with some of its members supposedly going rogue, the order they’re so proud of is breaking up, and the whole of Northern Thedas is facing an imminent threat of invasion. Tevinter is still dealing with remnants of the Venatori and might soon be dealing with a slaves rebellion and/or a political and social reform (Magisters Dorian and Maeveris have been working wirh the Lucerni, a group aiming to restore and redeem Tevinter). The Antivan Crows -the de facto rulers of Antiva - may be dealing with a succession crisis, as their First Talon, a powerful feared and respected but old lady, might not be around for much longer and seems her chosen heir has died before his time. Meanwhile in the Anderfells nobody’s heard anything from the Grey Wardens’ HQ at Weisshaupt since the end of Inquisition, and as told in the novel Last Flight, the sudden reappearance of griffons may have had something to do with that radio silence. So you see, get ready for another +100 hours long game because BW has plenty of stuff to keep us busy with. But in short, DA4 seems will be about primarily searching, finding, and dealing with Solas. Regardless of what you decided at the Exalted Council in Trespasser, the Inquisition or what’s left of it is most likely the group orchestrating that mission. As it was so clearly stated then, they need new people Solas doesn’t know so he can’t foresee their actions, so it’s possible the DA4 protagonist is a new agent or a third party hired to do what the Inner circle can’t due to their familiarity with Solas in the past. But at the same time -and this is assuming we get to find Solas in this game - i definitely think the Inquisitor could easily show up again. No, losing an arm doens’t mean they’ve retired forever, prosthetics do exist in Thedas, a world where you can combine dwarven craftmanship with enchantments, seriously, i don’t ever want to hear “but they lost an arm” ever again as an excuse to write them out. And no, marrying Cullen or joining the Red Jennys is no impediment to join the “Stop Solas” Squad; the end of Trespasser means something, mainly that this is personal. Be it they loved them as lovers, as friends or ended up hating his guts for using and betraying them, the Inquisitor’s relationship with Solas makes this very personal, and so having any other character do that face off would cheapen all of it, all that bittersweet angsty development and expectations of either revenge or closure. That moment should happen between those two. It adds a ton of motivation due to their past historyas well, something a new protagonist would lack entirely.  My personal best hope is for a sort of dual protagonist thing, say we play new protagonist for most of the game but a selected missions or scenes where we play as the Inquisitor once again and take over for key and heart-wrenching dialogue options. My second best hope is for the Inquisitor to show up as playable for the moment we catch up with Solas. My third and final best hope is for the inquisitor to be a sort of advisor but more like new protagonist’s boss/employer to whom they report back to and get new missions from. The Inquisitor can be stuck in meetings for the most part of it, i just want to know they’re there, behind a door, super busy but there. A cameo like Hawke’s in Inquisition is the bare miminum i can take, anyhting less than that like a mention in a sidequest description or a footnote in a codex entry would be a total  injustice.
Romances: I’m open for pretty much anything, as any good BW fan would be. But i’d like romances to feel more alive in the sense that they don’t abruptly get stuck once you exhaust all related quests and dialogue options. As much as my Adaar liked that spank from the Iron Bull, that it was the only thing they could share after their romance was locked was a bit..meh. I liked Dorian’s tho, because his gave one the option to talk a bit, go for a walk, gossip, and sure, it all happened off-screen, and there were limited possibilities, but it was nice and made their relationship feel a bit more real, like they had more to it than kissing and stuff. It happens in most games, once you secure a romanceable companion suddenly you run out of things to do and share with them, and you get stuck with the same 3 lines of dialogue over and over again. There should be a way of solving that.
Side quests: i’m ok with fetch quests initially as it is a good way of forcing the player to go out and explore huge maps, but i’d also like the fetching to have some meaning other than checking things off a list. I want to explore many ruins, and -can’t believe i’m actually saying this- i want a Fade quest. Wait! I know what you’re thinking but don’t kill me just yet, here’s my idea: what if we could visit the Fade at certain locations to witness memories or meet with spirits and recollect information on Solas, his past, his present? Both to understand him better (keep in mind we’ll most likely get a new protagonist who isn’t familiar with him like we are as players) and try to locate him or predict his next move. It would be i think i great way of having visions of Arlathan in its golden age, maybe seeing some of the other Evanuris, how they interacted with each other and with the elves in their service, what really happened ...i just want that sweet, sweet lore, i need it.
Technical stuff: ok, graphics will be amazing for sure, but i also would really really like: better, more varied and longer hairstyles, PLEASE. Body sliders, it’s damn time we get them. Mounts that actually make a difference! Let staves blades make damage in combat, I’M BEGGING HERE. Combined classes, MAGICAL ROGUES! A homebase we can fix up/build on/redecorate as fully as possible (Skyhold was great and i love it to pieces but why were those walls NEVER repaired????) . More casual outfit options, idk i love to dress up my characters, maybe some transmog? A day/night cycle and please i would love to see Thedas’ second moon, also weather variations depending on the region. Yes, i’m ambitious.
Gameplay: i’d like more AI options for companions, but not quite like in DAO, that was too much and i rarely used it. I’m curious how they’ll do combat this time but i know for sure i don’t want the kind of combat that has me going almost frame by frame pausing at every second, it’s annoying for me. I want large areas like in DAI but with a bit more stuff to see and do although one of my favourite maps is the Hissing Wastes so i won’t complain if we get a literal desert but i’d also like it to have secrets hidden around, make me work to find and solve them, i love exploring, i jump and click on EVERYTHING like i’m still a kid playing Monkey Island. A companion in concept art seems to be holding what looks like some form of rifle, so i’m curious how they’d incorporate that in the game. I know Tevinter has the magics and dwarves have the skill, a firearm is totally within the possibilities in-game without breaking any lore; also super curious what sort of skill trees Crows or Lords of Fortune could have, are they rogues, or warriors, or both??
So far, that’s what i got in my head.Well, most of it anyways, i may have missed something but this post has to end somewhere lol
What’s in your head? Feel free to share! Have you been thinking on how you’ll create your next protagonist? All i can think of is magical rogues and that  glowing bow was all the hype i needed.

Steam
Steam | One-Shot | 2.8K | General
Title: Steam
Fandom: The Mandolorian
Pairing: Din Djarin/ Reader
Rating: General
Word Count: 2.8K
Summary: The kid (and eventually Mando) get sick and you've got to get creative.
Cross posted from Ao3 here
A/N: This is just some teeth rotting fluff that came to me at 2am. Enjoy! Also can’t forget to thank @soyelfuegoquearde for keeping my head on straight and beta reading for me! Bless you!
Tumblr media
You wake up with sleep still in your eyes to heavy breathing and small coughs coming from the kid’s silver sphere. Sitting up from your make-shift bed on the floor, you open the kid’s sphere to find him still asleep but fussing. He had picked something up a couple of days ago, and you were starting to get worried but not as worried as his dad. Mando would pace in the belly of the razor crest as you slowly rocked a fussing kid.
 "Have you tried tea?"
 "Yep."
 "Broth?"
 "Yep."
 "Medicine?"
 "Yep."
Still pacing, you can hear soft mumbling coming from his voice modulator.
"He could get worse... he needs a healer... but someone might tell... it could get back to... he wouldn't be safe... he needs to be safe... needs to be okay."
This was the first time you had ever seen Mando --- Panicked? You reach out and grab his forearm with your freehand, stopping him mid-stride.
"Mando, he'll be fine. Kids get sick, it happens, but he'll get better. Look how strong he is," You finish saying as you boop his tiny green nose.
You say this to reassure him, but deep down, to reassure yourself too. You know how strong the kid is, but he was still so small.
Over the course of a couple of days, you had tried everything, but nothing seemed to work. He was still coughing, his nose was plugged, and when you put your ear to his tiny chest you could hear it rattle. On the fifth day of this nonsense, you had almost had enough. The kid was sick and grumpy because he couldn't sleep; you obviously didn't blame the kid. You just wished you could make him feel better. But if taking care of one person wasn't hard enough, you suddenly had to take care of two. Mando was worried and grumpy; he hadn't slept much either and was barely eating; all of his energy was focused on the kid. You practically had to push him off the Razor Crest this morning to catch his bounty.
 "But the kid!"
"But the kid, nothing. You've spent two days just staring at him. He’s going to be fine!"
"But what if he gets worse?"
"We've got coms. I'll call you."
He turns around and looks you in your eyes (you assume).
"I can't go. My head’s not in it."
You cross your arms, unwavering in your stance.
"It's a dumb, rich teenager who skipped bail. You could do this with your eyes closed."
His head falls. No one speaks, but his thoughts are loud enough you can hear. You place a hand on the cold beskar of his helmet, the heat of your hand almost penetrating through the metal to cup his cheek.
"He will be okay. I'll take good care of him."
Mando lifts his head, knowing that you'd do anything for that little womp rat.
"What if I tell you I'll give you updates every couple of hours?"
 "Every 30 minutes."
 "Every hour."
 "Deal"
His shoulders are still weighed by his paternal concern but with the assurance that his son is safe in your care, he turns away from the Crest and heads off to find his bounty.
A couple of hours passed since Mando went on his hunt; you had fed and given the kid some medicine as well as done your promised check-ins. As you sit down on the floor, leaning against the wall of the razor crest, still slowly rocking the kid, you start to hum a song your mom used to sing to you when you were sick as a kid. Continuing to softly hum, your eyes suddenly burst open with a memory from when you were younger.
Quickly you move the kid from your arms into his sphere to change into a pair of shorts and take off your shirt with your breasts still wrapped underneath. With the kid now back in your arms you head to the fresher. As a kid, your mom would turn the shower to the hottest setting and would hold you while sitting on the floor, enveloped by the steam and wait for it to loosen everything in your chest. And you had the exact same plan for the kid.
Slowly the small fresher started to fill with warm steam, continuing to rock the kid who, honestly, hadn't left your arms much in the last five days. You feel him begin to settle and take normal breaths. You feel Incredibly relieved; all you wanted in the world right now was for this little one to get better. Finally feeling some peace, you leaned your head back and let the darkness envelop you.
You couldn't remember the last time you slept longer than 15 minutes. If somehow the kid was quiet and not struggling, you'd panic and wake up to check on him. But right now, you feel something cool radiating beside you and soft caresses on your face.
 "Cyare"
Your eyes flutter open, the lights in the fresher are suddenly very bright, but your eyes start to focus on the beskar covered man squatting beside you.
 "Mando," you say very groggily.
Still lightly caressing your face, Mando explains "You missed the last check-in. I was getting worried."
This makes your eyes open completely. "Oh my God, Mando! I'm so sorry, we were in here, and he was feeling better, and we both fell asle-"
Mando cuts off your babbling. "It's fine, I was already on my way back, I was just worried-" glancing at his son sleeping soundly in your arms "about the both of you."
You can feel the heat start to rise in your cheeks, hoping it can be explained away with the heat still captured in the tiny room, you look away.
"He's doing a lot better," You say, still not looking up at Mando.
 "That's good."
Mando reaches down and caresses his son’s small cheek. Small cooing noises come out of his tiny lips, and he further snuggles into your chest. This makes you look up to Mando with a smile. He’s already looking back at you.
Mando breaks the stare "Here, let me take him, you..." gesturing to your body, which you realize is more uncovered than your employer had ever seen from you before. Instinctively you pull the child and your knees closer to your chest, unsure what you’re specifically trying to hide. "You... um... go to bed, you haven't slept since he got sick, and you’re exhausted from taking care ---"
 Of the kid, you thought.
 "Of the both of us."
 Oh.
You try and put up a bit of a fight. "No, I'm feeling better; I swear, you just got back from a hunt anyways."
"No, get some sleep. Let me take care of both of you... please"
That please melts your heart, he could have asked for anything and ended it with that please, and you would have given it to him, happily. Looking at the child once more, softly stroking one of his enormous ears, you hand him over to his dad. Even asleep, the little one knows what his father’s armour feels like and cuddles in closer. Mando stands up and reaches his free arm down to help you up; you take it happily.
As you stand in front of Mando, a yawn builds inside your chest, you try to cover it, but Mando cocks his head to the side, giving you a knowing look. You admit defeat with your hands and head over to the pile of blankets on the floor you call your bed. You pull a ratty old shirt that Mando had given you.
"I don't wear it anymore; you can have it."
Even though you washed it many times before, it still had his lingering smell; you tended to wear it to bed; it made you feel... safe. Before you finish reorganizing your nest of blankets, Mando speaks up.
"Take my bed. You deserve a better sleep than one on the floor."
Before you can protest, Mando cuts you off again.
"I won't be sleeping any time soon. He needs to eat and... I miss him"
Mando's occasional domesticity made you warm and slightly lightheaded. You’re not going to argue with a father about his kid, and he's right; you are exhausted. So without any further argument, you walk over, kiss the kid on the head, wish Mando goodnight and crawl into his bed.
Unsure with how much exact time had passed, but you know it had to have been many hours. Your body is heavy as you wake up, you could feel the lines of the pillowcase indented in your skin. You rub your face, hoping to get some circulation back. As you slowly crawl out of Mando's bed, you hear, singing? It is very soft and as you look around you find it’s coming from the fresher.
 Nuhoy Verd'ika
Te me'suum'ika laam
Te Ka'ra dral

Hearing Mando’s deep voice sing this soft lullaby makes your heart soar. You tip-toe to the fresher door and open it just a smidge. Steam starts to escape; the kid must have started getting stuffy again. You see Mando curled over and rocking what you assume to be the kid, in pants but no shirt. Your eyes wander over his broad shoulders and back. He has many scars and some bruises. You imagine his body is littered with them... just begging to be kissed, but as your eyes wander up, you see hair. Beautiful brown messy locks but hair, Mando has his helmet off.
 Nuhoy Verd'ika

You panic and close the door. With your back pressed against the wall, your brain tries to comprehend what you saw. Mando couldn't have seen you, but if he did, you'd swear you hadn't seen anything. Well, you hadn't seen his face, so that wouldn't be a lie ...right? You would never want to be the reason Mando broke his creed. Sure, you always kind of wondered what your employer looked like, but his creed was much more important than your curiosity.

As you hear a long pause, you think the song must be done, you realize you can't be found right outside the fresher, so you quietly bound over to your bed and start folding blankets, trying to look busy. Seconds later, Mando comes out still shirtless but with his helmet on. Thank Maker. Steam billowed out behind him like he was in one of your trashy holo-novels.
"Oh, you're up. How’d you sleep?"
 "Good... really good."
Trying not to look at his chest, which you definitely fail at, and like you, he realizes how bare he is and instinctively pulls the child closer.
"Um, can you take him so I, um, can get dressed?"
"Yes! Absolutely!" Reaching your arms out. You do a little dance with Mando as he hands you the kid and tries to get past you to get his clothes, but you both are obviously flustered. Finally, Mando gets past you; you keep your back to him to give him some sort of privacy.
 "He's feeling a lot better."
"Oh, thank Maker," you say as you rock the finally peaceful child.
 "The steam. It really helped."
"Good, my mother used to do it with me when I was little, and we were running out of options," you say with a chuckle.
More quietly than before, "I don’t know what I'd do without you."
Your heart and stomach flutter, but with it sounding like it escaped Mando's internal monologue, you decide not to react.
 -----
Days later, the kid got better like you knew he would, but man, you are happy for Mandos sake. What you weren't expecting was for poor indestructible Mando to catch it from the kid.
 "Why aren't you sick?"
"I guess I'm just stronger," giving him a quick wink.
Over the course of a week, just like with the kid, you had to nurse Mando back to health. A week of forcing him to drink broth and tea and take his medicine, but just like with the kid, nothing seemed to help other than steam.
The first night Mando tried to do it alone, but he ended up passing out. So the next night you both got dressed in your lightest clothes, Mando, with his helmet still on he would lean against you, and you would shut off the lights. Anticipating the whooshing noise from Mandos helmet as he takes it off. The next five days, you both would spend a couple of hours sitting in the hot steam as he leaned against you and slept.
Your relationship began to slowly change. There were nights where you would sit in the cockpit and watch the stars go by telling stories. Sure you did most of the talking, but you could always tell Mando was listening, even with his helmet.
As you got more familiar it felt like Mando was always touching you. His hands, his body, constantly brushing up against you. When he reached for something, to get past you, just having a hand on you when you were in public. It felt like every chance he got he needed to be touching you. Slowly you started to get addicted to his small touches. You had no complaints you relished in the feeling of his gloves gliding across your body. Closing your eyes and enjoying the soft leather pads of his fingers or the cold beskar that covered his body.
Things dramatically changed between you two when Cobb offered you a job at the school.
“Come on Mando, don’t you think she’d make a great teacher for the little ones?”
 “That’s not what I’m saying-”
“So, are you not giving her a recommendation?” Cobb elbows Mando teasingly.
 “No, I-”
“Well, I haven’t said yes, but thank you for the offer Cobb, I’ll tell you my decision tomorrow.”
On your way back to the crest, Mando was quiet. Mando was always quiet, but this silence felt heavy. When you finally enter the Crest you've had enough.
“What’s wrong, Mando” catching his arm, making him turn around. His head was pointed at the ground.
 “Are you going to leave?”
 “What?”
“Are you going to leave? Leave the kid. Leave me.”
 “Well, I-”
 “Please don’t go.”
You place your hand on the side of his helmet. “I wasn’t going to leave. I care about the kid, you, too much. You guys… you guys are my family.”
There’s a long pause as your foreheads touch.
 “Do you trust me?”
You only respond with a nod.
 “Close your eyes...please.”
That please. You’d do anything for that please. You squeeze your eyes tightly shut.
You hear the recognizable whooshing of Mando taking off his helmet. It hits and rattles against the floor of the Crest.
You feel his soft breath before anything, his facial hair tickles your top lip, and his chapped lips press against your own. He starts to pull away, but you wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. It's an innocent kiss but as if Mando can feel the fire in your belly begin to grow he licks your bottom lip begging for entrance. Your mouths and tongues explore each other, but you both eventually pull away breathless.
 “Wow, Mando, that was… wow.”
 “Din”
 “What?”
 “My names Din”
 -----
Now weeks after that Din and you had fallen into a pattern of domesticity. Intentional touches as you passed each other, sleeping together in his bed, even showering together in the dark. You couldn't be happier.
You were currently sitting on the ramp of the Crest watching the kid chase a butterfly around. Every time the kid got close, you’d clap and encourage him (but you also hoped it would scare the butterfly). Secretly you cheered on the butterfly, knowing the kid probably wanted to eat it.
“Hello, Cyare” Din says as he sits behind you and wraps his arms around your torso.
“Hello Mando,” Remembering only to say his name in private.
He rests his chin on your shoulder. Both of you sitting in the comfortable silence watching the little one run around. Your thoughts begin to wander.
“You called me that when the kid was sick; what does it mean?”
 “Beloved”
 “Beloved?”
 “Yes, beloved.”
“But you said that before we were…”
“Together? Yes. You and that little one-” pointing his gloved hand at the kid who doesn't seem to be getting tired of this butterfly. “-Are my aliit. My Family. I will always protect you. This is the way.”
Leaning back you cuddle into his shoulder, and his arms softly tighten around you. You look at the kid and feel Dins heartbeat against you, and you know you're safe. “This is the way.”

~Shintori Khazumi
[Okay, how about a Mayakuro "remake" of seeping beauty? Where Claudine is all like "Tendo Maya give me that sword, I can do this shit myself" and wasn't in a coma like sleep but that it was just a rumour or something. ...she'd be so confused for a minute, no one told her that the princess would have that much of an attitude.]- Was the request, hihi.
“Sleeping Beau-”
“A princess... in a tower, oh so far away from me. This dear princess, deep in slumber, oh how much I long to see...”
“... Is this because you want to use her as reference for your new play?” A certain brunette mumbled through a mouthful of food she’d managed to smuggle in while on duty.
“Dame Aijo... It’s not like that.”
“I thought I heard you ask that vendor girl earlier for the location because you had plans to visit.”
“Shut up, Karen!” The bespectacled playwright frowned, scribbling down her latest line. “And how do you even know about that?” Junna narrowed her eyes at the knight who merely shrugged. Junna clicked her tongue, turning back to her sheets of paper. “I’m just a little curious, is all!” She defended, mumbling incoherent complaints to herself.
“But Miss Junna, the last time you used actual people as references for your script, you got scolded by Hikari.” Karen reminded, resting her head in her palm as she watched Junna jot down more lines, more notes for her newest work.
“Th-that was only because she didn’t like how I stared at you or Mahiru for too long! I couldn’t help it! I have to study my subjects intently to fully grasp their characters and way of life, and embody-” She was going off on a tangent, and Karen couldn’t help but giggle.
“So you are thinking of her as a reference.” Karen grinned smugly.
“Karen!”
“Now, now. What’s all the fuss about?” A voice called from the other side of the room, catching the occupant’s attention. The pair froze in place, minds registering the identity of the newcomer.
“Your highness!” Junna greeted first, immediately straightening up as she and Karen offered their respects in deep bows to the tall figure, regal and proud, stood at the doorway of the study.
The Royal Princess, Tendou Maya, in her full glory, sauntered into the room, not forgetting to shut the door behind her, before taking a seat on Junna’s desk- much to the latter’s chagrin- and immediately destroyed her image of poise and elegance as she hid behind closed doors.
“Finally.” Maya sighed, gazing out at Junna’s balcony, seeing the bright blue sky and the rustles of trees as the wind’s whistling was heard through open windows. “I thought they’d never end.” She huffed, jumping back onto her feet as she walked about the room.
“Princess, what are you doing here?” Junna addressed their new companion once more, surprised at the sudden visit. Usually Maya would inform her beforehand if she was planning on dropping by. “Did you run away from more noble meetings?”
Maya smiled at her in an amused manner that had Junna feeling a little irritated. “Can’t a student come see her Tutor at any given time should she have any queries in mind?” Maya asked sweetly, picking up a random book from a nearby shelf and flipping through its pages.
Junna stared, trying to read the woman’s expression and actions. She couldn’t. Groaning, Junna replied, “First of all, you are no longer my student. You’ve learned all you’ve needed to from me, finished all your course work two years ago. Secondly, do you even have anything to ask that I can answer that you don’t already know?”
Maya kept smiling at her mysteriously. “How are you?- is a valid question that you can answer and I don’t already know?”
“Don’t be cheeky, Your highness.” Junna rolled her eyes, getting back to her script on her desk.
“My, the genius scholar, the Kingdom’s royal tutor, can’t answer one of the simplest questions?” Maya faux-gasped. “Whatever shall we do? Find a new one?” She continued to tease.
Junna frowned, feeling a headache coming on. “Maya, you really don’t want me to dive into a long discussion on how that question could actually be one of the most difficult to answer.”
As if to remind the pair of her presence, Karen agreed enthusiastically, nodding her head at the same time. “You wouldn’t want to get bored, your highness. One time, Miss Junna tried to explain to me why I could buy five sacks of rice in the next town over for the price of only three in the capital, and I still don’t get it.” She chuckled sheepishly, scratching her head in confusion.
“Um, Dame Aijo, that’s a little different. You might be somewhat slow-”
“Oh, how interesting!” Maya clapped, playing along with Karen. Turning to Junna who had just flinched, she directed another question. “How can that be, teacher?” She asked innocently.
Junna grimaced, really not up to the task of having to play Maya’s little games today. Regaining her composure, Junna cleared her throat. “Okay, for what purpose have you actually come to see me, Princess?” She asked, hoping for a reasonable answer.
“To see my good old friend and catch up on life?” Maya tried.
Junna deadpanned. “Like hell that’s true. You haven’t visited me in three months. Each time you’ve visited before that, it was to either ask me to hide you from marriage interviews, sneak into a play, escape whatever duties you found tedious, or snack on baumkuchen secretly with Karen over here.”
“Baumkuchen is good for the soul.”
“Not for your figure.” Though she said that, Junna frowned as she remembered the time she was chewed out by the etiquette tutor for allowing Maya to eat ‘junk’ outside of mealtime; allowed her to eat more than her designated and controlled portions.
Despite knowing how nobles liked to keep up appearances, Junna hardly found it necessary to impose such a diet on the princess with how active she was anyway. Also, as someone with lists and lists of responsibilities to cater throughout the day, she worried if it was even enough, what they fed the poor girl.
What if she simply collapsed one day?
“You don’t mean that.” Maya smirked at her, propping up her face in her hands on Junna’s desk.
Junna’s frown deepened. A splash of color appeared on her face that she quickly hid behind her manuscript. “I suppose not.” She admitted quietly.
Maya laughed freely, stepping back to allow her friend some breathing room. She went over to Karen to strike up some more amusing conversation maybe.
“So what kind of whimsical fairy tale has Miss Junna tried to string together this time?” She asked Karen.
Junna choked on air as she turned to glare at the cause of her stress today. “Why would you like to know?”
If the princess claimed she wanted to take part in another one of her productions, Junna would have to discourage her from doing so. She used to be pleased to have Maya on board, sometimes even pleading her because of her talent and potential for the stage- she was very clearly loved by its goddess. However, Junna had quickly learned that a Royal should not be placed under that kind of spotlight.
They were already on a high enough pedestal that was better tailored to people of their caliber; worlds and worlds beyond even the most talented actors, the brightest stars.
When His Majesty’s second wife,  the queen consort, had heard of these activities, she had hounded Junna, and her fiance Nana- the director and owner of the theater- to cease any production that would ‘taint’ the Royal Princess’s image and only serve as distraction from her duties that were of greater significance.
Such as trying to succeed the throne.
It wasn’t only for her sake that she had to turn Maya away from the stage that called to her like a siren from the sea. It would be better for that sailor to keep away and stay alive all together. After all, mermaids were temptingly beautiful, but they devoured the life of those drawn to them.
So would it be for Tendou Maya.
“There’s just been this rumor circling about, princess.” Junna heard Karen begin, looking over at the pair who shared amicable smiles as they conversed.
Should she halt this topic?
“And this rumor is...?”
“Oh, just how there’s this weird, abandoned, palace-like thingy in the forest just by the border to that terrible west kingdom.”
Junna watched as Maya seemed to perk up, not liking the interest that was apparent on her face.
“They say there’s a princess there!”
“My! A princess!”
“They said she’s been sleeping there for a while!” Karen continued to share without much thought, Maya nodding enthusiastically and clinging onto every word. An action Junna did not like. “And that she’ll never wake up. Poor princess. Can’t they bring her to a clinic or something?”
“Ohoh? I suppose that would be the usual course of action.” Maya replied, going along with Karen’s storytelling. “What else do you know?” Maya asked, hoping to fish out some more information, no doubt.
Junna had to stop her already burning hunger from getting even bigger.
“Nothing else that you should hear of.” She cut the conversation off with a tap of her pen. “Anyway, it’s all just a rumor.” Junna stated. “It’s not as though there is proof of an actual structure suddenly being there in the western forests, nor is there any certainty about a princess residing in deep slumber there.”
Maya flashed her an evil grin, walking over to her table again, standing right in front of her once more.
“But there isn’t any proof that it doesn’t exist either, right?” She whispered to Junna with a glint in her eyes that only spelled trouble.
“Don’t get any funny ideas, Maya. The kingdom will absolutely have my head if they learn that I’ve somehow placed ideas in yours.” She sighed, rolling up her papers and smacking Maya on the head lightly. The princess simply laughed in amusement.
“Worry not, my good friend. I’ve taken your kind words into consideration.”
Junna stared at her, still skeptical. Knowing Maya, ‘consideration’ was just that. Consideration. And, most likely, Maya was considering going against Junna’s warning.
Really, she could only hope for the best, and pray that Maya wouldn’t do whatever her pretty little head had clearly already planned.
‘No, no.’ Junna shook her head. She should trust Maya. She was an adult, responsible, and a royal. She knew her duties, and she knew what was right. Maya was an intelligent woman. She wouldn’t just thoughtlessly go out in search of the existence of some baseless tale. Yes. Junna shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
She looked over at the princess still casually conversing with Karen, all cheers and smiles coming from the pair. The knight continued to entertain Maya with more and more trivial details regarding the stories of that hidden castle in the woods, and the shine in Maya’s eyes that Junna usually associated with her excitement and craving for adventure only became brighter and brighter.
This was worrisome.
Junna bit her lip, anxiety growing more and more as she tried to convince herself that everything would be just fine.
Okay, okay. Even if Maya would, hypothetically, try to go off in search of this ‘mystery princess’, there were many guards posted about the castle anyway.
She couldn’t escape and do anything, right?
No, in the first place, she wouldn’t do anything. Right?
Right?
//-//-//-//-//
She shouldn’t be doing this. She knows it deep down.
Should her parents catch wind of her plans, she could either be disowned or forever locked away in her own tower.
Regardless, these threats of consequence could not hope to quell her hungered curiosity. Maya couldn’t sit still after hearing such a tale- an adventure outside the walls of the palace. One that was much like the stories she had only ‘played’ thus far.
This time, it was real.
And so did the princess sneak out into the dead of the night.
“Come now, Samson.” A lone horse’s whinny shook the silent air, Maya feeling her heart pound at the thrill of game she had begun to play. A game of life. “Shhhh. Be silent, my boy. We must be discreet.” She whispered, stroking the silky mane of her stallion, hoping it would soothe him.
It seemed to have worked and Maya sighed in temporary relief.
Looking ahead into the darkness of the courtyard, she surveyed the area ahead in attempts to check for any possible dangers. Finding none, she took one final look behind her to ensure that she was not being followed.
Good. The coast was clear.
Addressing her loyal companion, Maya took the reins and commanded forward. “Shall we?” She smiled as she got a little huff. “Hyah!” She exclaimed, loud enough only for their ears to pick up.
She cantered Samson over the currently-empty courtyard, out the back, having known a secret pathway through the castle gardens to get onto the streets without passing the main gate where guards were usually posted, and rarely left.
She should really advise their knights on how to better their security. People could get in through places besides the gate.
...or people could sneak out.
She could.
But maybe... not now.
Stepping onto the cobblestone pavement, she grinned. So far, so perfect.
Catching sight of the palace gate, she giggled as she saw a guard stretching in the distance, probably yawning from drowsiness during night duty.
Yes, she should indeed talk to her father in the future. Or not.
“Fools.”
//-//
Into the dense forest, they ran. Galloping hooves braving a weather that was somehow stormy. The air and the scenery was somehow eerie. Darkened clouds and thorny paths had so soon greeted them as Maya traversed towards the direction Karen had pointed out.
The location of a hidden tower.
From what Junna and Karen had shared in terms of the rumors they’d heard about it, they said a princess from the neighboring kingdom had been born twenty or so years ago. She had been blessed by three fairies, and cursed by a witch, Maleficent- was her name, apparently.
The girl was to prick her finger on a spindle of a spinning wheel, and then she’d sleep on death’s bed inevitably.
That was how it had gone.
Maya was a believer in the magic of the world. After all, the members of the royal family were some of the few who had been gifted with its wonder.
She wouldn’t call them miraculous, but she had undeniable strength that far exceeded many of their best male knights, as well as healing abilities that could get rid of smaller cuts, and halt excessive bleeding.
This proved useful as Maya made her way through the thick brush, feeling the sharp of thorns on occasion as she went deeper into the forest.
After a good hour or so of searching, Maya had found herself at the base of what she had presumed was the ‘palace’ from the rumors. Tall-standing and surrounded by thorns, with an eerie air that only added more fearsome layers to its image shrouded in darkness, Maya deliberated continuing on her little adventure.
Should it hold terrors far greater than she had initially accounted for, this curiosity trip would very easily end up with chaos and sorrow in an entire kingdom.
However, should rumors stay as rumors...
Maya laughed at her own foolishness as she dismounted Samson, tying him to a nearby tree.
“Let’s hope I don’t die, my boy.” She stroked her trusted steed as he nuzzled against her hand. “I’ll be back.”
//-//-//-//-//
Another cough exited her mouth, particles of dust shrouding her vision. Clearing away a cobweb with her hand, Maya found the first open door to any room she’s passed by thus far. A long winding stairwell sat inside, steps that snaked their way to the top of a tower invited Maya to take them and uncover the secrets they might lead to.
Maya took one step. Then another. And another.
Half-way to the top, she had found another door. Right away, she knew it was different from all the other wooden entrances she’d encountered so far. Besides the odd glow that seemed to be coming from within, it had an equally strange inscription carved into its wood.
With a light push, the door flew open, revealing a spinning wheel. The glow she had initially taken note of didn’t come from the room, apparently. But neither was it from the spinning wheel itself.
Maya focused her eyes on one part of the machinery, seeing the spindle sparkle alluringly, almost invitingly.
“What a dangerous-looking contraption.” She murmured, stepping closer. Sharp. It was sharp, she observed, the closer she got. “What if... someone got hurt?” In a trance like state, her body continued to close the distance between herself and the seemingly glowing piece of furniture. Her eyes remained fixated on its eerie shine. “...How tragic... would that be...”
Stopping just inches shy of the spindle, Maya’s breath stilled. Almost as if it had a mind of its own, almost as if Maya had forgotten the whole tale she had just been told, her hand lifted up, reaching for the spindle-
...when a creak suddenly caught her attention. As though a spell had been broken, Maya blinked, quickly pulling her hand away and looking up towards the source of the noise. She saw another door, one that was slightly open, leading into more darkness, revealing none of what possibly lay beyond it.
Her heart beat fast at the thought of either being caught by someone from her kingdom, or by an entirely different entity- a monster or ghoul perhaps? Either way, the dangers the options presented was not to her liking.
Still, this did little to douse the fire that was her thrill-seeking curiosity, and thus, she went after it: the dark and beyond.
She took careful steps, pushing the door to widen its opening in hopes that the strange light from the previous room would help to illuminate this new one. The hinged wood budged with an echoing creak, one that made Maya flinch, still wary of alerting any possible inhabitants of the palace.
Upon entering the room, Maya’s eyes fluttered about the dim surrounding, scanning over the surprisingly dusted furnishings, and well-kept room.
How strange.
For a place that supposedly only had a sleeping individual of a few years already, to be this clean... Was this also due to the effects of magic?
Her gaze continued to travel, hopping from one thing to another. She took careful, quiet steps about the room as she surveyed it, searching for a better source of light at the same time.
Coming to a curtained wall, she pulled the fabrics apart, hoping a window was present there. Smiling victoriously at her correct assumption, she allowed the natural evening light to flutter into the room and illuminate it as she turned around to see things more clearly.
And clearly she saw. Eyes widening, they came to rest upon a figure glowing under the elegant light of the moon. A sleeping beauty, resting. The princess of the rumors. Maya gazed upon her face, mind blanking and unable to tear her gaze away.
Her cheeks were somehow still a gorgeous apple-red despite supposedly having lack of nutrition due to her lengthy slumber- should the rumors hold any truth- albeit somewhat hollowed out. She had long lashes, and was fair-skinned. What drew Maya in the most in that moment was the glow of golden hair. Silky, fluffy, seemingly magical.
“Absolutely beautiful.”
Maya, outside of her conscious control, reached out to touch it- much like she’d almost done to the needle before. However, unlike that earlier attraction, this one was... different.
The pull of danger was as a hypnotic, malicious trance. Despite the dread coursing through your veins, the fear pounding in one’s heart, you could not step away. On the other hand, this allure was gentle, soft. She was not as a moth to a flame, nor a sailor to the siren’s song.
This was a hand held out, beckoning her for a life-changing dance as her fate entwined with whoever it was that lay upon satin sheets in an abandoned castle.
Maya flinched once her skin made contact with silken gold, before relaxing, enjoying their soft feel. Holding a few strands that slipped through her fingertips, she brought it to her lips placing a kiss on them.
Her heart beat painfully in her chest, but she did not think it was in any way unpleasant. Her eyes scanned over Sleeping Beauty’s features once more, resting upon slightly paled lips somehow growing larger and larger in her view.
Oh.
Maya had been drawing closer.
And Maya was about to kiss the lady.
Breath stilling in her lungs, Maya pulled her senses together, shaking her head as she berated herself for even considering such a distasteful course of action- throwing herself upon someone without the least bit of consent.
She’d seen many beautiful faces in her lifetime, she’d flirted with some too- much to Junna and her parents’ chagrin. But never had she felt as... captured as she was in this moment; never had Maya been filled with a strong urge to know who this person was, to have the pleasure of being acquainted with someone such as this.
She had never felt the desire to steal a kiss from someone she’d just met, and hoped that maybe... they’d kiss back.
Eyes widening, Maya slapped her hands against both sides of her face; the feeling of the warmth of her cheeks grounded her back in the reality of the moment as she attempted to take a step back and recollect herself-
And suddenly she found herself looking up at the ceiling and into precious garnets with a flame-like passion burning within them as she was pinned down to the mattress by their glare and their owner’s physical strength.
A lovely owner, might she add.
“Who. Are.  You.”
Maya blinked.
‘Even her voice is lovely.’-She thought, despite the venom in its tone. Whether Maya’s heart was picking up speed due to fright or something else, she didn’t know. Her mind was a jumbled mess of being dumbfounded and starstruck at the beauty presented to her, her subconscious’ warnings that she was currently in danger, and confusion towards this predicament she had found herself in.
“I said, Who are you.” Maya’s fair lady repeated, shaking her by the collar for emphasis that she was not to be joked with, and that Maya should answer seriously if she wanted to make it out of this situation in one piece.
Did she, however?
Maya wondered if she had some sort of odd preferences deep down that despite her apprehensions and surprise, she couldn’t help but feel merry and excited in her position, laying beneath some unknown gorgeous woman who was angered and threatening.
She couldn’t help the smile that broke out on her face as she replied, “Why, I’m Maya. And you?” She hoped it at least looked charming, like the one she usually used on all the pretty village girls as their faces soon turned red and flustered.
She didn’t expect to get a growl instead... or should she have?
“Are you one of her servants?” The blonde interrogated, not answering Maya’s own question as she searched Maya’s eyes for any motives of deception and dishonesty.
“Her?” Maya cocked her head to the side curiously. “Who might you be referring to, my dear?” She asked, somehow still hoping to charm or tease the woman with a subtle pet name that only went ignored.
Golden brows scrunched up further, fangs baring more obviously for Maya to admire as the woman answered her question. “Maleficent, obviously!”
“Maleficent?” Now where had Maya heard of that before...
Apparently, this strange beauty had taken it upon herself to fill Maya in on the details, as she released her from her grip, pushing her away and onto the sheets as she got up to pace the room in clear vexation and rage from just the thought of whoever this ‘Maleficent’ person was. Just her name was enough to rile her up, it seemed, and Maya’s suspicious and intruding presence was now quickly forgotten as her newly-awakened companion went off on a raged rant.
“She who has locked me up for who knows how long. With the silly prophesy that I’d prick my finger on a spindle and fall asleep for many years.” She explained, pausing in her steps to give Maya a look. “That one.”
Maya still didn’t quite follow. It all did sound so familiar.
“I beg your pardon?”
The lady didn’t seem to have heard Maya as she continued on her fiery tirade. “Who in their right mind, when being told the exact misfortune that would serve as their demise, go with it? Certainly not I!”
“I see...?” Maya had now assumed a more comfortable sitting position atop the room’s mattress, watching the woman in front of her continue to grumble and pace about.
“Avoiding that damned curse was nothing of a challenge- it was trivial, even.” She sighed, biting her nail in annoyance. “But there’s an entirely different issue at hand!” She exclaimed, stomping her foot down as she crossed her arms and looked to Maya, as if asking her to tell her what it was.
Maya had no clue whatsoever.
She heard her companion click her tongue in disappointment at the lack of response, and that somehow stung for Maya.
Maya was quickly enlightened once more by the things she had no clue about.
“I can’t leave the building for some reason. Each time I’ve tried, it was as though I’d entered a never-ending maze.” She huffed. “And even if I got passed that, I’ve discovered that she sends a dragon to check up on me from time to time. The timing is sporadic so I can’t even plan a definite schedule of escape. Maybe if I had my sword, though...” She mumbled the last bits to herself. “Maybe it would be a different story.”
Maya watched the troubled girl continue with her mental acrobatics and murmuring, still bewildered by the sudden outburst of emotions and quickly growing pile of information that she was still trying to process bit by bit. She reviewed the story she had heard in her memory to the best of her abilities, somehow feeling that something was off with the tale she had just been told.
Something clicked, and she snapped her fingers in realization, as she got up from her seat and walked over to the perplexed lady.
“Excuse me-”
“What.” The response was biting and cold.
Maya flinched, but prepared an unbothered smile as she tried to strike up a coherent conversation with this girl.
“I’m sorry, but... I just wanted to confirm something.”
The blonde only raised her brow, telling Maya silently to go on.
Maya suddenly felt nervous, and nervous wasn’t really something she thought she was capable of feeling, not with all her background and training. However, under the scrutiny of those intense eyes, she felt her throat dry as she struggled to use her words.“Um, so...” She began, feeling the urge to rub at the back of her neck to ease her sudden anxiety. “You said you couldn’t find a way to leave?” She finally got out lamely.
“Yes, that’s what I said. Weren’t you listening?” Was the fiery response that confirmed Maya’s confusion.
“I... I see.” Maya stuttered. She cursed at the fact that she did. Still, she had to continue on with this conversation in order to understand what was nagging at her. “I see, but...”
“But?”
Maya pointed towards the way she came in, the door still wide open and with that odd glow from the needle in the previous room she’d passed to arrive in this one. “The exit is right there, milady.” She stated slowly, clearly, hoping the other woman would get her message.
“...”
“...milady?”
She received an angered glare, feeling her collar grasped once more as Maya was pulled to meet the woman eye to eye. “What foolishness are you spouting?” She questioned, thrusting a finger in the direction Maya had pointed at. “That is clearly a wall.”
Maya blinked, tilting her head in confusion. No, no. She was clearly not blind, was she? She was sure that she wasn’t dreaming either- that she was in the right state of mind. So why...
Instead of trying to explain things, or understand through words, Maya decided to figure things out the easier way. She pried the other woman’s hands away and made her way towards the door. She felt the heated gaze on her back as she stood in front of the open frame. Looking back once, she nodded.
And she walked right through the door.
Staring at the lady through the passage, she wondered why she wasn’t being followed, why there was no ‘I hadn’t noticed that there’, or any similar words.
All she heard was an awed, “How did you do that?”, and her lagging brain clicked. Oh.
Maya came back in, multiple possibilities and reasons now running through her mind as to why this girl could not see the clearly placed exit. Right, this place was covered in magic. Why hadn’t she thought of that sooner? Maya put on her smile once more, approaching the girl as she took her by the hand and led her closer to the door. “I’m telling you, milady. There’s nothing here.”
She still looked at Maya skeptically, clearly in doubt.
“Milady, do you believe in magic?”
She received a deadpanned look, and she realized it wasn’t the smartest question to ask someone who had been locked up in a tower, guarded by a dragon, and cursed to suffer eternal slumber by the touch of one tiny needle.
“Apologies, of course you do.”
Maya watched the blonde sigh, as she nodded, looking at Maya with a calmer demeanor as she stated what they now thought they both knew. “So there’s a door there, and I simply can’t see it because I’m probably under some type of illusion spell.”
Maya hummed her agreement, and admired the way her companion’s face lit up in relief and a joy she didn’t think she’d ever see replace the grouchy expression that seemed to be forever set in place.
“Well.” Maya’s sleeping beauty smiled at her, unknowingly making her heart skip a beat. Maya wondered what that was about.
“Well?” Maya parroted, clearing her throat after a minor crack in her voice.
“Now that we know that this wall is but an illusion... I guess I feel like a fool for not trying to figure that out any sooner.” The woman laughed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she turned to look about her room. “I suppose it’s time for me to leave this musty old building and claim my freedom.” She grinned. “I wonder if I can find anything of use here that I can take with me.”
Huh. She was leaving.
Somehow Maya didn’t like the sound of that.
She couldn’t leave. Not when they hadn’t even had a proper conversation yet.
To where would she go? Would it be to a place where Maya could find her, or seek her out? Maya felt compelled to stay with her, or have her stay with Maya. Maybe they could go back to Maya’s kingdom together... and then she could get to know her more. Maya... wanted-needed to get to know her more. Even if she didn’t know why that was herself.
Right, Maya still didn’t know her name. Where was she from? Why was she... Maya needed to ask. Maya needed to know.
Clearing her throat once more, she reached out for the girl.
“So, I was wondering-”
“It was nice knowing you, thank you for showing me the way out.” Were the words that interrupted her plans.
‘Wait, no. Not yet. Where are you going?’
“Now I must be off-”Maya’s panicked hands were too late in catching the girl as she tried to exit the room, “Oof-What the...” but instead found herself hitting a hard barrier and falling onto her back.
Hmm?
“Hmm? What... happened...” Maya asked, quickly kneeling to check on her fallen companion.
The woman rubbed her forehead, a red spot marking the area that probably hurt the most. “That’s what I’m asking.” She quickly turned to glare at Maya, pointing an accusatory finger at her. “You.” She angrily spat. “You lied to me.”
“Wha- I did no such thing!” Maya felt compelled to defend herself, getting up from her spot and hastily walking in and out of the doorway, as if that would prove some point. “See?”
“I don’t see!” The blonde exclaimed, crossing her arms as she sat on the floor. “You really are one of Maleficent’s henchmen! What, did she send you here to make a fool of me? Is she watching from somewhere? Is this some kind of sick entertainment for her?” She madly questioned, standing up and jamming a finger into Maya’s chest, forcing her back.
“I’ve already told you, I’m not!” Maya countered, her own volume raising.
“Then who are you?!” The woman screeched at her, pinning her against the wall- except that it wasn’t a wall for Maya, and she promptly fell through into the other room and onto the cold hard floor.
“Ouch... that hurt...” Maya groaned as she got up, running her fingers against the back of her head gently to soothe the sharp pain there.
She looked up to see the girl on the other side of the entryway banging her fists against a barrier Maya could not visualize, but the other could not deal away with, apparently.
“Who are you?” She was asked again. “Who are you?! If you aren’t one of those people who have thrown me in here, how did you find me? How did you know of this place? Why are you here?! Tell me!”
Maya silently watched her continue to yell in fury, continually slamming her hands desperately against the ‘open door’.
“Were you here to toy with my sanity? To give me false hope that I’d finally get be able to be free?”
Each question was accentuated by a hard thumping sound as she beat against the wall.
“Did you leave already?! Figures you would! You didn’t even try to prove me wrong!”
Maya considered the option of exiting the place, no longer willing to tolerate the manner with which she had been treated the entire time. She considered it.
She considered no longer having to deal with this clearly crazed woman. She did not know what came over her when she thought that she was the least bit attractive.
She considered getting up. She got up.
She considered turning away. Maya did.
She considered finally walking out of the room...
-until she heard it.
The tiniest sniffle, so small she could have missed it if it weren’t for the sudden complete quiet after all the loud noise.
“...I just thought I’d finally be able to find my way home...Wherever home is...”
A pang shot through her heart as she turned back around, eyes falling upon a forlorn face that was quick to be covered in tears. If that wasn’t enough to drive an emotional knife through her chest, the lady beyond the wall began to wail helplessly in what Maya could only describe as pure, unadulterated pain.
“WHY AM I HERE?! WHAT DID I EVEN DO TO DESERVE THIS?! WHO EVEN AM I?! WHY ME?!” The girl sobbed. “Damn you, Maleficent! Damn you, dragon, damn this stupid tower, damn it all!”
Maya watched the girl slump against the clear barrier, falling to her knees as her poundings returned in weak waves and slaps against the wall, until she ended up curling on the floor, quietly sniffling and well-worn.
Maya approached the door once more, wanting to reach out, but not knowing what to say. She crouched down, mouth opening and closing until her voice eventually came out.
“I... I’m still here.” She spoke softly. There was no response. “Can you hear me?” Nothing still.
Maya bit her lip nervously. If she tried to go back in, would she be walking straight into death’s clutches? Would she get beat up? Even if she escaped later, how was she to explain what happened once she returned home?
Maya needed to think... wait, but did she have the time? She didn’t have all night to do whatever it was she came here to do. She needed to be out by sunrise and well on her way home. Wait... home? What home? Where was she? Why did she need to go home? Why was she here in the first place? Where was here?
“What am I...”
She felt a sharp pain in her head. Was it from the fall? Maya suddenly felt dizzy, her head began to spin and ache as she fell to the ground. She cursed the throbbing in her head. Maybe she could try healing it with magic. Maybe that would assuage the pain.
Healing? Magic?
What...
Maya shook her head. She didn’t have the time to think about all these things that were suddenly confusing her. She just had to do what she needed to.
Her hand took on a golden glow that almost seemed foreign to her. She didn’t know what it was, but somehow her body told her she should do it, that she could.
Shakily raising her hand up in a struggle, she managed to touch her head, and suddenly, along with a blindingly bright glow that filled the room, she felt clarity and many thoughts flowing in, as the pain melted away into nothingness along with the light.
Maya blinked, suddenly remembering so many things that she didn’t even know she’d forgotten. “...The princess. I’m... a princess. I’m Tendou Maya and I’m here to... I wanted to find out about a princess- the princess!” In panic, she turned to the lady she had been with all this time, her story earlier now registering in Maya’s mind and associating with the tall tale Junna and Karen had spoken about.
Maleficent... a tower... magic... a spindle and a curse.
Maya whipped her head about to see that the needle was no longer glowing to her. It looked like any old spinning wheel, sat in a room.
It was like an enchantment had been lifted off of Maya, and she saw with clearer eyes what was going on.
When had it settled? Was it the moment she entered this forsaken castle? Was it when she had laid eyes on the cursed contraption? Maya did not know.
All she knew was that she needed to help set free this woman that was most probably the princess from the rumors that may as well not be rumors. But how?
Well, it didn’t matter right now. Maya just needed to take some course of action to temporarily ease the situation. She could figure out the rest later. Soon. She did not know how long she’d been here in the tower, nor did she have a way of telling how much time she had left before needing to leave except through the window she’d opened in the other room. If she had to go in anyway, she may as well explain things to the captive princess inside.
Maya swallowed thickly, wondering what she should do now. The princess still lay across the way. Should she simply step over her and enter like that? Or should she move her out of the way first. Either option would probably get her beat, but Maya didn’t need to think about that right now... maybe if she held her in place to prevent her from attacking once she notices Maya’s presence?
Nodding to herself, Maya crept closer to the open door, knelt down on one knee, bracing her arms for the weight.
She needed to do it smootly and quickly, before there was any time for the other woman to register what was going on.
Three... two... one...
“Wha-!”
Maya slipped her hands and arms under the princess’ weight and hurriedly carried her up and over to lay her down on the bed before she could react.
“You!” Wide eyes regarded Maya with shock as she pinned the other princess down by her wrists, hoping that she couldn’t break free. “Why are you back?! What more are you going to do to me?! Are you- Get off me! Get off!”
“Wait! Wait! I need you to listen to me for a moment! Please!”
“Why should I, you rascal- what are you doing to me-mmpghhmm! Mmmmphhh!!!”
Maya had managed to hold down both the other woman’s wrists with only one of her hands, while she used her free one to cover her mouth, hoping to silence her, if only for a bit.
“PLEASE JUST LISTEN FOR ONCE.” Maya shouted sternly, shocking them both by the power and force in her voice. She felt worse as she noticed the still-present tear stains on her cheeks. They stared at one another in complete silence, until Maya regained her thought process. “Please. Listen. I’ll tell you all I know. But please listen first.”
The girl still looked shocked, but nodded.
Maya nodded back, pondering her next words. “If I... release you. Will you promise to stay silent and behaved, and let me explain everything?”
She watched the girl slowly nod once more.
Maya looked at her doubtfully.
“You won’t attack me?”
Another nod.
“...okay. I’ll let go now.”
To be safe, she first took her hand away from the girl’s mouth, receiving a disgusted glare.
“Leather tastes awful.”
“You promised to stay silent.”
“You promised to release me.”
Maya felt her brows furrow, feeling the slightest bit annoyed.
“Do not attack me.” She warned, slowly releasing the woman’s hands. “I swear, do not attack me. Do not.” She chanted, hands finally completely off.  “I’m telling you, I swear. Do not-”
And once more, she found herself pinned against the cushions, only this time, she was face first into them.
“I SWEAR TO GOD-”
“Tell me who you are and why you are here!” Was demanded of her. “And don’t try anything strange.” Maya could probably find a clever way to weasel her way out, but she knew if she raised any more suspicion by being untruthful or vague, she’d get nowhere in negotiating and explaining with this person.
Sighing her usual pride away, she asked a single question first.
“Will you believe what I’m about to tell you?”
After all, there would be no point if she didn’t.
“Yes.” The answer was quick, and Maya was genuinely surprised.
“R-really?!”
Genuinely surprised.
“Just spit it out. No funny business either.”
Maya actually felt elated as she did her best to nod in her position.
“Okay, I will tell you. My name really is Maya.”
“Maya. Maya what?”
“T-Tendou Maya.” She answered, before adding, “I’m a princess from the nearby kingdom, and I came here to confirm a rumor.”
Suddenly she felt herself released. Easing up into a sitting position, she turned to look at an oddly nervous face.
“... Are you serious about the princess bit... Tendou Maya?”
A tingle ran through her spine at the sound of her name rolling off those insanely gorgeous lips that she was suddenly so conscious of once more, almost forgetting to respond.
“Y-yes. Yes. I promise. No lies here.”
She was given a once-over, before the other party looked away and whispered a quiet ‘sorry’.
Why... was it so cute.
“So we can be civil.” Maya quipped, lightly teasing.
“Shut up.” The woman huffed. “And so? What rumor, p-princess?” Maya was asked carefully, snapping her out of any unnecessary thoughts.
Right. Maya inhaled deeply, breathing out a question in return to first confirm something. “Do you know how old you are?” She asked.
Her companion looked at her confusedly, before nodding. “If my guess is right, and that Maleficent visits every year or so to see if I still exist... then I know I am roughly twenty years old from the time I was taken away at six. But what does that have to do with what you’re saying?”
Maya nodded to herself, now a little more sure, and hoping that these rumors actually held some kind of truth to them. She looked seriously into confused eyes, ready to explain.
“If that is so then... the rumor was that a princess had been asleep in a castle in the woods for many years. I... came here to investigate.”
“Princess?” The girl echoed. “Me?” She asked again, pointing a finger to herself.
Maya nodded.
“What?”
“If the rumors hold any weight to them, then...”
“But really, a princess?” The girl continued to be skeptical, and Maya was becoming just as confused as she was.
“Wait, don’t you know that? But...” Digging through her memory, Maya was so sure that... “But you knew that you were supposed to prick your finger and fall asleep, didn’t you? Why wouldn’t you know that you’re a princess...”
Two confused ladies sat on a bed, staring at each other in utter confusion.
“I was raised in a cottage in the woods by three aunts. They just happened to warn me about something odd like this. And they told me that if I ever came across a Maleficent person, I should try my best to get away...”
“But how did you end up here?” Maya was now so very lost.
“I honestly do not know.” The blonde shrugged. “I woke up one day in the room with the needle, somehow felt angry that I fell into the stupid situation I was trying to avoid... and I remember walking away from it. Next thing I know, I’ve already grown up in... this place.” She shrugged nonchalantly, gesturing towards the whole room. Maya suddenly felt the urge to laugh.
“Pff- what?”
“What?” The look on the other woman’s face told Maya that she was slightly offended with Maya’s reaction.
“No, I just... Your tale sounded like it should have been much more dramatic than that. But then you just... walked away. From what was essentially your life’s bane.” Maya giggled, laughed in disbelief, combing a hand through her hair. “I can’t... I can’t believe you.” She said, looking the girl in the eyes in amusement.
“How rude... after I believed every word you said.” She grumbled.
“Except that you are possibly a princess?”
“...No one would believe that.”
“And you believe that I am?”
She received a shrug. “Best be safe than sorry. If you ever go back to your little kingdom and report that you were manhandled by a random prisoner in the forest, I might be free from this prison, but moving straight into another. Though that doesn’t sound so bad if it means I have company.”
“Pfff.. ahahahha. What are you saying?” She broke out into laughter, wiping tears away from her eyes, feeling more and more relieved by the second.
Everything felt so surreal to Maya. It all felt peaceful and settled, like she wasn’t just adventuring in a dangerous area; like she hadn’t just been under- and fighting against- the effects of a spell that was distorting her mind; as though she wasn’t just wrestling for life with the woman now seated calmly across from her.
A woman she still didn’t know, but felt like she should.
“And so?” Maya said, finally calming down.
“So? So what?”
Maya felt a familiar giddy smile playing over her lips once more.
“You told me what was essentially your life story, so how about you finally tell me your name next?”
“My name?”
“Yes. Your full name, if possible.” Maya said with a bat of her lashes that earned her an eye roll.
“Right, how about no.”
Maya felt her lips fall into a pout. “But why? Isn’t it only fair that I get your name in exchange for my own?”
“All is fair in love and war, whether you get my name or not.” The woman shrugged, returning a grin of her own.
Maya liked that. The grin, and the mention of love.
Love... huh.
As Maya continued to get hung over on those words, she heard a cock crow in the distance, reality immediately sinking in as she looked in the direction of the window only to be greeted by the thin orange line of the morning horizon.
‘No!’
“I-I have to go!” She sprung up to her feet, panic in her voice as she looked around the room hastily for anything she may have dropped of hers. Finding all her things secure, her gaze finally landed on the lonely smile on the face of the woman she had strangely become attached to- so much so that she didn’t want to leave. She gasped, realizing what she’d said wrong. “I-I mean... we- we have to-”
“I suppose this is goodbye.” The other woman said quietly in a tone that was a far cry from her earlier fierceness. “We both know I can’t leave. Not unless we figure out how I could.” She spoke, eyes trailing towards the door only Maya could see. Her voice was small, insecure. It was sorrowful. It hurt.
But it didn’t have to, Maya realized.
She coughed a few times, approaching the foot of the bed, kneeling by the seated maiden. She hesitantly offered her hands up, pleased when the response of the woman was to place her own in Maya’s.
Maya took in a deep breath to counter the unexpected anxiousness growing within her.
Lifting her gaze up, her words came out in a mere whisper. “M-May I... come see you again?”
Maya watched her eyes express the widest range of emotions she’d ever seen from a person. Shock, embarrassment, warmth, fondness, gratefulness...
They were beautiful.
Even the small drops of tears that had begun to form at the tips of her long lashes, beautiful.
Her current smile and bout of gentle laughter, beautiful.
The way she sniffled, and the fresh trail of tears that rewrote the story of the prior stains on her face- so beautiful.
The way her golden hair framed her face, stray tresses sticking to her slightly sweaty skin- beautiful.
Maya stared at beauty itself, and was left in awe.
“Only if you bring me a better meal than stale bread and uncooked potatoes.” She chuckled through her sniffling.
Maya felt her heart flutter erratically, barely managing a playful response. “Any requests?”
“... Tuna.” Was the near inaudible reply, coupled with a shy tint on her companion’s cheeks.
“May I inquire as to why?” Maya asked, feeling her stupid grin widening so much, it ached.
“...I just like it...”
Just who was this adorably shy creature, and how could Maya make her even happier.
“Understood. I will acquire for you only the best.” Maya smiled, the pads of her thumbs running circles over the smooth skin of the other princess’ hands.
Another crow of the rooster made her grip those hands lightly, the sting in her chest coming back.
“I s-suppose I’ll see you again later.” Maya said, looking down at their joined hands, avoiding the other’s gaze as she stood up.
As she began to pull away, she felt a light tug. Looking up, she met bashful garnets searching her eyes, and quivering lips that were trying to communicate something.
“Yes?” Maya gently prompted, squeezing her hands lightly.
“Claude. For now... you can call me... Claude...J-just so that... when you come back...” Claude trailed off, averting her gaze shyly- rather endearingly, might Maya add.
“Claude.” Maya smiled, placing a chaste kiss on her knuckles. “I will come back.”
She relished the blush blooming across ‘Claude’s’ face, pocketing it in a memory to be recalled multiple times throughout her everyday, no doubt.
“I will definitely bring you home. I’ll figure out a way.”
Maya cupped her face, wiping the few tears that had escaped away as she rested her forehead against Claude’s.
“I will definitely bring you home, free.”

I have to admit. He’s cute, but he’s so irritating. Is it the fact that he’s so undeniably cute? Yes. No, yes but Peter is such a know it all, or at least I think so.
For some reason, it didn’t stop me from hanging out with him and his friends for the past couple of months. After picking up some school lunch, I grab a seat in front of Peter and Ned.
“Hey Y/n,” Ned smiles. “Hi Ned! Hi Peter,” I greet back, looking over at Peter. He didn’t seem to notice, his eyes too focused on Liz.
“Why do you even hang out with them Y/n, they’re losers,” I hear MJ pipe up. Ned, Peter and I all turn our heads to her.
“True-” I stifle a laugh.
“Then why are you sitting here with us?” Peter retorts.
“Because she’s cool, and doesn’t drool over seniors like, someone,” I cough, smirking at him. He rolls his eyes and glares at me.
“She’s not wrong,” Ned murmurs.
“Dude!” Peter huffs, making me giggle. He smiles slightly and slumps on the palm of his hand, looking away.
“Pete, could you come over after school? I need help with chem, and I know you need help with English,” I poke him with a fork causing him to swat me away.
“Yeah whatever, I think that’s just an excuse to get me to come over,” he teases.
“Shut up!” I groan. Ned and MJ share a suspicious glance. “What?” I ask cluelessly.
“Nothing,” they both say quietly.
After a long dreadful day of school, Peter and I met up at the front of the school, by the gates.
“Hey Penis Parker,” I smirk, holding onto my backpack straps.
He lets out a long sigh, “Not you too, Y/n. C’mon,” he huffs.
“I’m just messing with you Pete,” I bump into him, beginning to walk ahead.
He follows, catching up easily, “Right. Anyways, have you heard about the new vigilante in town?”
I tense at the subject, “Uhm yeah, that speedy girl?”
“Yup. What do you think about her?”
“Uh, I don’t know. All I know is that she’s probably better than Spider-Man.”
He looks at me offended, “Who’s to say? Spider-Man is like, super-human, he has a bunch of powers-”
“Don’t get your panties all in a twist, I’m just saying,” I laugh, “Sheesh didn’t think you were such a big fan of Spider-Man.”
“U-uh why wouldn’t I be, he’s s-super cool.” “Said every teenager ever, I like this new girl. She’s kind of refreshing y’know?”
“Meh,” Peter shrugs, and I scoff shoving him aside.
We eventually head to my apartment and study together. I messed around while Peter tried to help me with homework, but he ended up getting distracted anyways.
I let out a long groan, “Shut up! You’ve been talking about chemistry for the past 30 minutes and I didn’t understand one thing that came out of your mouth.”
Peter’s mouth drops. He throws one of my pillows at me, “You asked me to come over!”
“I know, because I’m lonely.”
“Sure.”
“You’re right, I just needed you to do my homework.”
“I hate you.”
“I love you too,” I flash him a cheeky smile, causing him to roll his eyes. I glance over at the clock, “Hey uh, I think you should head out soon. My dad’s coming back from work soon and you know how he is with boys.”
“Yeah yeah, don’t miss me too much,” he gets up, gathering his things.
“Reverse card!” “See you,” he chuckles and walks off.
“Bye Penis Parker!” I yell, making sure he left. As soon as he closed the front door, I rush into my closet to get out my suit.
After putting it on and tidying up room, I head out my window and jump out to the fire escape.
I decide to scan the city, running and jumping from building to building. It seemed quiet so I sat down on the ledge of some random building.
I hear a quiet thud next to me. I glance over at the figure, who I made out to be Spider-Man. “Ah, well if it isn’t the infamous Spider-Man.”
“Thought I’d check out who the new girl in town is,” he chuckles. His voice seemed higher than I expected it to be, it almost sounds familiar. Weird. Could it be? No way, that’s impossible.
“You care about me? I’m touched,” I place a hand on my heart. I hear him stifle a laugh and shake his head.
He went quiet for a second and stood up from his crouching position, “There’s something going on by 5th street in some warehouse,” he says.
“Guess we should head over-”
“We? I don’t know about that new girl, this is my neighborhood,” he jumps off the ledge, swinging from building to building.
The fuck, who does this guy think he is!?
I rush downstairs and speed off to 5th street, managing to get there before he did. “Yes, we,” I cross my arms looking up at Spider-Man who arrived shortly after me.
He scoffs, “So you’re fast. Hopefully you can catch up, sweetheart,” he swings up to the roof of a warehouse.
I quickly follow, managing to find a way inside and on to the rooftop. I run over to where Spider-Man is crouched down behind a large air vent. I poke my head out to see a poor lady tied to a chair, with a bunch of men surronding her.
“Some kind of intense hostage situation,” he whispers.
“You’re an intense hostage situation,” I murmur.
“What? Shut up!” he whispers. “Oh my god, I think that’s the mayor.”
He jumps up from the vent, placing his hands on his hips. “Hey uh, guys I don’t think you should be treating a lady- especially our mayor like that,” he says, changing the pitch of his voice. I scrunch up my nose at his awkwardness.
“What the fuck, who called him-!” I hear a rough voice yell out, followed by a series of gunshots and screaming.
Spider-Man yelps and manages to fling some guns aside, causing two men to gang up on him, “Hey, new girl a little help!” he yells out. There another two men next to the mayor, with large guns in their hands.
“On it!” I call back, rushing over to the two men circling them. “Hi there,” I grin, place my hands on their guns surging a large amount of eletricity to them, knocking them out.
I help the mayor out, making sure she wasn’t injured or anything. “Karen, call the police and give them our location,” I hear Spider-Man mumble quickly, grunting as he knocks out the two men he was dealing with.
The mayor who was still in complete shock began to ramble, “T-thank you Spider-Man. T-thank you?” she looks over at me.
“Uhm, Velocity?” I rub my arm as Spider-Man watches in amusement.
“Thank you both really-” she sniffs. Suddenly, the roof top door slams open and a bunch of big bulky men come out with these weird looking weapons.
“Heads up, Spidey!” I yell, as one of the men shoot their weird looking gun that emitted some type of green energy.
I grab the Mayor and speed down to the front of the building, where a bunch of police cars pulled up.
Shocked from the momentum, she falls to her knees. “I’m so sorry, but I had to get you out of there. Stay safe!” I rush back to the rooftop.
I notice Spider-Man struggling to get this one guy off of him, “Pretty boy, to your right!” I yell. I run over to one of the weapons and toss it to him.
He quickly webs it and slings it against the guy, knocking him out, “Pretty boy?” he scoffs.
“Yeah, that’s what you sound like!” I grunt, punching a guy who was coming to my left with a surge of electricity.
“So you’d be an annoying girl?” he smirks, also fighting off someone who rushed towards him.
“I’d be honored,” I scoff. “Holy shit!” I let out a yelp as I felt myself being lifted in the air by one of the weapons.
I hear a quick thwip and suddenly I was back on my feet, with Spider-Man’s arm around my waist, “My hero-” I gasp dramatically.
“Cute,” he rolls his eyes. He pushes me towards another guy who was trying to get their weird gun to work.
I frown instantly, and circle around him grabbing the gun before he could do anything. I fling it against him, and press my hand harshly on the gun, causing eletricity to rush all over him.
He knocks out, and I turn around, seeing Spider-Man fling against the air vent. I inhale sharply and rush towards the guy, knocking him off his feet causing him to let go of the weapon.
I kick it away, the guy gets back up and attempts to punch at me. I easily dodge his attacks and punch him with eletricity.
“Oh my god, I did it- I mean we did it! We-” I look over at Spidey who was slump on the ground. “Shit,” I speed over to his side, propping his head up onto my lap. “Pretty boy, you still there?”
I notice his mask was slightly cut open, blood seeping out from the side of his head. I knew that he had the mask on for a reason, but he could be dying. It’s not like I would out him to anyone. I understand why he would keep his identity a secret, it’s what I do as well.
I inhale deeply, pulling off his mask. I let out a gasp, “Peter!?”

Tangled Salt Marathon - Short Cuts
Tumblr media
So the reviews for Rapunzel’s Return are taking longer then expected and due to real life complications I’ve now fallen behind in my intended schedule. So in order to catch up, I’ll be doing a series of rapid-fire mini reviews of all the official shorts that the series released in addition to the usual reviews.
Summary: Ten shorts were released throughout the three seasons of the show detailing Rapunzel’s misadventures in Corona.
 Check Mate
Tumblr media
Pascal tries to get Max to play chess with him, but the horse is too busy with guard duty to play. Pascal’s antics wind up causing a fire and Max must save him.
Tumblr media
This short, plus the later Unicorn-y short, and the episode Pascal’s Story pretty much confirms that chess is pascal’s favorite game. Shame that’s the only idiosyncrasy that the series gives besides being the conscious of the group that sometimes gives the other characters guilty looks.
I said it before and I’ll say again, the animal sidekicks in the franchise don’t have enough personality to carry whole episodes by themselves, but shorts like this are ok and where things like this should have stayed.
Prison Bake
Tumblr media
Attila recounts how he used his baking skills to break his fellow pub thugs out of prison back before they met Rapunzel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This just raises so many questions. Why were they arrested? What was their punishment besides jail? Why weren’t they just re-arrested later after escaping? If they were all wanted criminals before meeting Raps then why did they try to call the guards during the movie to collect the reward money on Eugene’s head? Do we really think “crack-down on crime” Frederic would pardon them before Rapunzel’s return? How do we know they weren’t just framed given how shitty Corona’s legal system is?
Like I just need a tiny bit more context show. Two to three minutes isn’t really long enough to set up conflicts. These shorts should have been more like five or six minutes really.
Tumblr media
Also Ludwig the Castle Cook is also just wasted. They built a model for him and hired a VA and everything and all he does is appear in this one short and nothing else. Like I think he makes a non-speaking cameo in The Alchemist Returns or something, but that’s it. It’s a clear mismanagement of resources.
Make Me Smile
Tumblr media
Rapunzel tries unsuccessfully to make Old Lady Crowley smile, but it’s not until she holds an honest conversation with the woman does she find a solution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is best short out of the bunch, and not just cause it stars the great Pat Carol either.
This is how Rapunzel should have been handled in the main series proper. Which is why I screen-grabbed this whole convo. It’s perfect.
Rapunzel spent 18 years lock in a tower. Of course she doesn’t understand different perspectives from her own cause her development has been stunted. She’s compassionate but lacks empathy. So she has a hard time connecting with others, but once she slows down an actually takes the time to listen to people she is capable of learning.
Tumblr media
We needed more of this; just on a larger scale. Have Raps make mistakes, have people be annoyed with her or right angry when she messes up, and then have her learn.
Why the series thought it was a good idea to have everyone kiss her royal arse instead while she dug in her heels and consendinly took charge of everything even while still screwing up, I’ll never know.
Hare Peace
Tumblr media
Feldspar asks Rapunzel to take care of his “precious”. Rapunzel thinks he means a pet rabbit, and is run ragged trying to keep up with it, but it turns out he was talking about his prized cabbage instead.
Tumblr media
These shorts overall work a lot better than the main show. They know what they are and don’t try to be anything else. Therefore they deliver what is promised competently. They’re nothing amazing nor groundbreaking and in truth I wouldn’t want a whole series of them, but I get the feeling this is what the head executives at Disney were expecting when they signed off on the show and not whatever mess the main series turned out to be.
Night Bite
Tumblr media
Rapunzel, Eugene, and the animals are out camping for the night and Max gets irritated by all the bugs.
Tumblr media
What doesn’t work so well is the placement of some of the shorts. This particular short aired during season two and indeed that would make sense given that they are camping out here. Which why would they do that if they were still in Corona...
Yet some of the later shorts, which also aired during season two, clearly do take place in Corona debunking that theory. Just some context would be nice show, that’s all.
Also this short is meh.. not bad, not, good, just there.
Hiccup Fever
Tumblr media
Rapunzel gets the hiccups and everyone in Corona seems to have advice on how to get rid of them, but only Eugene has the solution.
Tumblr media
I’d argue that this is the funniest of the shorts. I legit laughed out loud at some points which is rare.
However it does sadly prove on thing.
Tumblr media
Rapunzel was always a shit girlfriend, even before season three.
Being a douche to your boyfriend isn’t funny show.
Snowball
Tumblr media
Rapunzel and Pascal plan to have some fun in the snow and things go awry.
Tumblr media
So where and when is this exactly?
Unlike the other shorts, the context and setting for this one is paramount to whether or not Rapunzel is a simply lazy or a an outright dick.
For you see, Rapunzel had never been outside in the show before Queen for a Day. Ergo, this can only take place during the latter half of season one or during season two.
Now season two makes a lot of sense. They’re at some cabin in the woods that was never mentioned are seen on screen before and this did air during season two anyways. If that is the case then Raps just avoiding her planned road trip like always.
However, the last short and the next two also aired during season two and all of those do take place in Corona during season one and even the wiki states that they were all meant to take place during season one in original concept.
Yet if that is the case then Rapunzel is ignoring Varian right now and playing around in the thing that almost killed him...
Oh and that still doesn’t explain where this cabin is. Is it the mountain retreat that the King and Queen were going to spend their anniversary at?
Tumblr media
What’s really mind boggling though is that they made this short in order to reuse the character models from Queen for a Day in order to save money, but then went and built this whole set that’s never seen outside of this short.
Like seriously who was on charge of the budget decisions in the series?
Hairdon't
Tumblr media
Rapunzel offers to cut Eugene’s hair but then messes it up. She spends all day trying to stop Eugene from seeing his new do, but turns out the hairstyle becomes a hit with the Corona townspeople.
Tumblr media
Rapunzel seriously lucked out here and it borderlines on the main series style levels of BS. She asks Eugene not to get upset before he sees what she’s done and, guess what, he is rightly upset.
Honestly the series needed to let Eugene get angry at Rapunzel for stuff. That’s what happens in relationships, you will make your partner mad at times and that’s ok. It’s all about how both of you handle that.
We never get to see how Eugene and Rapunzel would handle a real ordinary conflict and not just magic/ex girlfriend shenanigans that don't end with them putting off talking about it.
Even their best episodes in season two still are over conflicts that don’t have any immediate impact on their lives and are mostly hypotheticals to them, like kids or how other people should approach dating. And of course by season three Eugene is just reduced to a doormat.
Unicorn-y
Tumblr media
Rapunzel tries to help Vladimir find his missing prized unicorn figurine in this spoof of old detective movies. Turns out Max and Pascal had found it and were using it to play chess.
Tumblr media
Ok, first off, Eugene has the patience of a saint and deserves so much better than Raps and her bullcrap here. Same goes for Lance who is tied up as well during this scene.
But also this is another short that needed to be more than three mins long. The “mystery” is over before it even starts and the film noir parody only barely has time register in the viewer’s mind and then it’s over with.
Shorty’s Theme Song Takeover!
Tumblr media
The last of the shorts aired after the show had ended as part of the Disney Channel’s on going promotional gimmick “Theme Song Takeover!”
Tumblr media
Shorty finds Rapunzel’s journal and sings his own version of the show’s theme song, “Wind in my Beard”.
It’s ok.
All of Disney’s animated shows for the 2019/2020 line up has done one and some are funnier than than this and others not so. The Shorty one is pretty middle ground but what makes it work is that Rapunzel is completely oblivious to what’s going on and only Shorty, always the anomaly of the series, can perceive the fourth wall. Thus proving he was never really human.
Tumblr media
As for placement, we know it’s season three cause of Rapunzel’s dress and they’re mostly likely inside the Snuggly Duckling right now. So just slot it in wherever you see fit.
Conclusion
That’s it for the shorts. The rest of Rapunzel’s Return should be up later this week and then hopefully I’ll be all caught up in time to cover the next episode next week.

Damn, how in the world had it come to this?
Virgil watched as she padded on quiet, bare feet across the beach house deck.  Retreating again and effectively shutting him out.  Her slender shoulders so small under the too big flannel of his shirt, were hunched as she protectively wrapped her arms around herself. Closing off like she always did when things got too close and too real for her to deal with.
His chest hurt, a dull ache behind his breast bone and he rubbed at it subconsciously.  Like his heart was too big and in its floundering it was trying to break through the meager sack of flesh that housed it.
Cursing, he rubbed at it again and resisted the urge to drive his fist in the plastered wall of the beach house.  The effort wouldn’t serve any meaningful purpose anyways other than splitting his knuckles. There was no detracting from his present circumstances and potential broken bones wouldn’t change that.
He should have taken more care with his words instead of letting his thoughts run free as he did and he kicked himself for his short sightedness,  not that it fixed anything.  He’d been too caught up in his own little world,  completely forgetting the reality they were living and now here they were.
On opposing ends of a vast chasm.  Him holding on with all his might to keep his family whole while Kayo fought against it. The horrible twisted image of family that a mad man had imprinted on her at too young an age warping her view on things to the detriment of them both.    An idea she had been fighting her whole life to make different and one she couldn’t escape, it seemed no matter how hard they tried to.
The old doubts and worries were always just beneath the surface just waiting to spring forth to bugger things up. The present being a prime example.
The morning had started out completely different and felt almost like a dream to where they were now.   Warm and lazy with a vague like quality one found just upon waking.
Kayo had been snuggled in his arms. Her legs tangled with his among the rumpled sheets. A sweet ocean breeze blowing through the gossamer curtains and dancing pleasantly over their satiated bodies.  Wicking the dew of sweat from their skin as their pulses slowed and their minds drifted back from the bliss of carnal sensation.
His fingers had been lazily tracing up and down her back, over the sinewy grace of her shoulders and down the curve of her spine. Paying homage and mapping every glorious inch to his artist brain.
He’d been lost in a day dream of what could be. The gentle rise of her hip, the varied valleys of her ribs  directing the course of his thoughts.  A picture was forming of a future, one that stretched out before them like a blank canvas, waiting for them to take up the brush and fill it with colour and life.
A story in images had started to sketch itself  in his mind’s eye.  The two of them, together.  Healing, growing and evolving with a world of opportunity before them and nothing to hold them back.
Not being able to contain himself as he lazed with her, Virgil had voiced his thoughts. Letting loose all that he’d hoped for.   A tumble of words spewing forth that had Kayo suddenly growing still and stiff to his touch.
“Virgil,  stop…”  Had been all she’d uttered before she’d turned from his embrace and slipped from the soft comfort of their bed.  Her hair a tumble of love tousled ebony, hiding her face.
“It would be a nice picture to paint.”  He’d replied, mind still on other things and not on the present.   “Go anywhere, wherever we want.  Take in the sights for a change instead of just jetting by them.  Go to that little cabin by that lake I told you about… it would be a perfect spot to..”
“Enough! …” The abruptness of her raised voice had him snapping his jaw shut.
With jerking motions, she’d grabbed up his shirt.  The match to his favourite pair of lounge pants.   The one she loved to cozy into and entice him with. A glimpse of flesh here as it rode up her thighs, a flash there as supple mounds peaked out between the row of loosed buttons. Now though it covered her in a different manner entirely.  Like a shield, she clasped it tightly
He’d pushed up to his elbows, brows dropped low with concern as he’d finally taken note that something wasn’t quite right..  “Kay?"
She’d cast her gaze back at him then.  The briefest of looks had been enough for him to catch the shadow of disquiet in them.  Their usual vibrancy muddied by brewing clouds of anger that had him sliding from the sheets and reaching for her.
“Don’t.” Was all she said, shaking her head as he’d risen and moved towards her.  Her hands held aloft to hold him back as she’d strode from the room.
“What… Tin,  what’s going on?”
Grabbing up his pants Virgil had stumbled after her, hopping as he yanked them on amid a  litany of colourful words.
“Shit… Wait..”
Steps later he was confronted by a fury he hadn’t expected considering where and what they had been doing mere moments before.
She had been pacing like a caged animal,  across the expanse of the living room and back again.  Rage flowing from her with each hurried step.
“What…?”  Was all he managed to say before she turned on him.  Fire in her gaze,  colour high on her cheeks.
“You know what?”  She seethed, poking a finger in his direction as she did another circuit of the room.
He’s own anger bubbled to the surface,  “Actually, I don’t. So would you enlighten me to whatever erroneous infraction it is that you think that I’ve done?”
“Oh, don’t give me that.  You know exactly what the problem is.”
Virgil’s brows shot up as her words had struck a chord in his grey matter. “Problem? You really think…”
“What in the hell were we thinking?!”  She growled out, shoving a chair out to the way and knocking it over with a crash. “Selfish..Stupid.”
“With the lives we lead….You can’t ask this of me!”
Her words had been like a physical blow and Virgil had taken an involuntary step back. She’d wanted her words to hurt and she’d succeeded.  She never did pull her punches and her aim was as impeccable as ever.
He’d seen the realization of what she’d said flicker through her gaze but she’d quickly buried it. Instead of saying more, she shook her head, turned  her back on him once more and walked out the open sliding doors putting more than just distance between them.
And he’d let her go,  his shoulders slumping at the writing between the lines of what had been said. In his mind there was only one option open to them but maybe for her that wasn’t the case. The implications of those options was something he couldn’t dare to fathom…but it was a road he wouldn’t let her travel down alone.
He had a responsibility to uphold,  as  her husband and as the man he prided himself on being.  A rescuer in dark times, when there was no one else capable of the job and sometimes those that needed rescuing were closer to home.
Squaring his shoulders he went after her.  She was begging for a fight. An obvious distraction from the core reasoning behind her lashing out at him but he wouldn’t take her up on the invitation.   He wouldn’t let her push him away to deal with whatever this was on her own.
Passing through the doors,  his eyes scanned over the deck and his breath had caught.
She looked so small, fragile and it had brought him up short. Slumping,  he braced himself between a support post and the beach house wall.  An uncanny exhaustion suffusing him as he saw the uphill battle of the task ahead.  A task he was determined to see through to the end, no matter the outcome.
He hated seeing her like this and despite her best efforts to push him away, Virgil knew her too well.  Had spent most of his life knowing her.  He could read her nuances, gestures and mood even when she tried to close off from him like she was trying to do now under a mask of anger.
“Tin,”  He said carefully, dropping his hand and pushing away from the post.  He drew in a breath and let it out slowly, letting the tension slip from his shoulders.   Approaching her with all guns blazing would only crank her defenses up higher and wouldn’t get them anywhere.
He watched her stance with a practiced eye as he stepped closer.  She was like an abused animal.  Even with all of her training, when she was emotionally compromised as she was right now the scared little girl she had been came to the fore.  The one they met when she’d first came to live with them, hiding behind her father’s leg.
He hadn’t known her history then,  the actions of her uncle and the effect that it would have on the rest of her life.  How it would shape her into the strong, determined woman she was today.  Never letting anyone get close enough to see the frightened child she closeted away inside.  Virgil though had managed to find his way inside,  found the cracks in her apparent impenetrable armour and had broken through to  the core of the woman inside.  The one she tried desperately to hide from the world in a shell of fierce resolve and purpose.
Under it all was a woman, who had seen too much.  Abused, battered, basically orphaned by her absentee father and desperately afraid.  To top it all off, she hated the weakness and fought tooth and nail to hide it from everyone.  With the exception of him,  she didn’t have a choice there. He’d wormed his way in and he wouldn’t stand by and let her retreat from herself or from him.
Gently he placed his hands on her tight shoulders,  cupping their slender, wavering strength and he whispered her name again.  “Tanusha…”
Her head bowed further,  a meager attempt to hide in the fall of her hair but he could feel the quiver in her body now,  hear the soft stuttered intake of her breath.  She was crying and trying oh so hard not to be.
Pain and love swelled through his chest, and an undeniable protectiveness.
Virgil pulled her back into his embrace, encircling his arms around her waist and with little resistance she melted.
“I’m sorry,”  He whispered over the curve of her ear,  brushing his lips across the elven-like arch of it.  “I’m so sorry.”
He put all his love he could into the words, hoping that by apologizing for something he wasn’t wholly the cause of would help alleviate her suffering in some way.
“I wasn’t thinking and it was insensitive of me.”  He tightened his hold on her,  reassurance imbued into the gesture and slowly began to rock giving her the time to pull herself back together again.
The slight tremor slowly dissipated,  her breathing settling into a somewhat normal rhythm and he knew that she was ready to hear. More so when she dragged in a ragged breath and exhaled a long drawn out sigh. He could almost hear her counting to ten in her head.  A method she used to reign back in some of her control and a calm he knew well creeped back in. One that camouflaged a great deal of hurt.
He did the same,  his warm breath stirring her hair and ghosting across the smooth column of her neck which peeked out from the drooping collar of his shirt.
“You know we’ve got this, right?”  He questioned though he wasn’t expecting an answer.  “Yes,  he’s out…”  She stilled once more in his hold but Virgil couldn’t stop now,  Kayo needed to hear this even if it was just a band-aid to the problem.   He couldn’t sit by and let her lose herself in fear so he pushed on. There was too much at stake.
“Yes,  he’s upped his game in a big way.  Dad knew he was capable,  your Dad knew….” A flinch at the mention of the absentee man but again he pressed on.  There was no backing down now.  What he had to say, needed to be said.
“We were unprepared but we know better now and I promise you, Tanusha Kyrano Tracy;  just like I did on the day you said ‘Yes’.. That I will never,  ever let that man hurt you again.”
He slipped a hand down,  between the soft folds of flannel,  across her silky, soft skin that concealed honed muscle and deadly skills. Brushed the edge of fine lace and stilled, cupped and shielded that which was only known to the two of them.
With strength of purpose his chest swelled,  a determination unlike any he had ever known bulked up the threat behind his next words.  “I’ll do everything in my power to protect both of you, I swear it or the Hood will regret the day he heard the name Tracy.”
She turned, taking his hand in her own and lightly brushing her lips across his knuckles. “You’re too good for me Virgil Grissom Tracy and I don’t deserve you.”
The brief storm of anger has fled from her eyes, leaving behind only doubt and fear.  “But I don’t think it’s as easy as that. You’re too good a man to stoop to such levels and I don’t think I could live with myself if you made that sort of sacrifice on my behalf.
Besides,  what sort of life could we offer with him out there.   He’s already been the cause of so much pain.  You and your brother’s have suffered for years because of it..I don’t think I would have the strength if he was to get you or….”
Virgil’s frowned.  “Tin,  I married you.  All of you and everything you brought with you. I knew full well what I was marrying into but that man,  that bastard… he can’t come between us and what we want unless you let him.”
Her gaze dropped and with gentle fingers he lifted her chin and waited for her to meet his pleading eyes.  “Don’t let him win… not in this. Please God, not in this.”
“We may not have a choice…” Came the whisper of her response, her forehead resting against his own as a lingering tear slipped from her lashes.
“Tin, please….”
“Virgil, I love you.  God, how I love you but I can’t tell you what you want to hear.  Not right now. If the Hood found out….
Just then the island klaxon blared  and Virgil’s comms started to ping with urgency.
Kayo took a step back from him and he stared after her. Brain going a mile a minute with words he wanted to say,  emotions he wanted to express.
“Go…” She said with resignation, her arms once more crossing over her frame.   “You’re needed..”
“I’m needed more here.”
His comms buzzed again followed by the voice of his star loving sibling. “Virgil, you’re needed in Ops. A.S.A.P.  Please confirm.””
Conflicted, Virgil stood unmoving,  his fist clenched at his side.   Trapped between the woman he loved and the life they’d chosen.
“Go,  I’ll be here when you get back..”
His brother’s voice sounded again from his comms, pulling him in two directions at once.  The hint of stress he picks up in it though had him unfreezing and heading for the underground access to the hanger.
Passing through the automated door and hitting his comms to reply to John, he looked back at Kayo.  His heart sinking and doubt filling him as he watched her turn away from him.
Uncertainty prickling across his skin as he questioned the validity of her words but there was nothing he could do right now.   Lives were at stack…more so than just those that needed rescuing and his hands were tied…
“FAB John,  on my way…”

Meet the character: Ainu
Tumblr media
BASICS
► Name ➔  “Ainu”, the tiny lalafell answers politely and bows. “Ainu Wanyuudo. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
► Are you single ➔ “What an odd question.” She eyes you up and down, her eyes slightly narrowed. “Why are you asking? Are you up to something?”
► Are you happy ➔  She rolls her eyes. “’Happy...’ One of those words I’ve never truly understood. Oh well, I guess I’m happy enough. I have a job I like and steady income... Actually I’m making the most gil of our family, apart from my mother.”
► Are you angry? ➔  Ainu smiles widely. “Funny that you asked, since I haven’t been this angry in ages. It takes quite a lot to make me angry. This certain thug tried to murder my mother not too long ago, and I’m plotting a vengeance worth of such a deed”, she states casually, like she’d be talking about weather.
► Are your parents still married ➔  “I only have my adoptive mother, and as far as I’ve understood, she prefers to stay alone. Which I, of course, perfectly understand. Romance would only be a risk and hindrance in the criminal underworld.”
EIGHT FACTS
► Birth Place ➔ “Kugane. I stayed there for the first half of my life, and the second half I spent traveling and training around the far east.”
► Hair Color ➔ “Black?” she asks slightly confused, and glances upwards at her bangs. “Yep. So it’d seem.”
► Eye Color ➔ Ainu rolls her eyes again. She marches closer, looks up to you and pulls her lower eyelid slightly downwards, so that you can see the blood red orb clearly.
► Birthday ➔ “I have no clue about the exact date. I only know it’s sometimes around spring.”
► Mood ➔ “...bored. I am so... bored! You see, I was given this interesting assignment a couple of months ago, but my target has done nothing. Nothing! Either he chickened out just because he’s a coward, or somebody told him I was after him, and he chickened out because... well... he’s still a coward.” Ainu lets out a frustrated sigh. “I do know I have quite a reputation, but I wish people wouldn’t back off from the game because of it. How shameful. One should finish what one starts.”
► Gender ➔ Ainu raises her eyebrows. “Seriously, have you considered glasses?”
► Summer or winter ➔ “Summer absolutely. Working is easier in summer. No footprints.”
► Morning or afternoon ➔ “Afternoon. Most of my work consists of night shifts, and I’m more of a night owl anyway.”
EIGHT THINGS ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE
► Are you in love ➔ She snorts and looks at you scornfully. “I don’t think I’ve ever experienced any kind of love. I grew up in an environment where such a thing didn’t exist. Besides, as far as I’ve been observing people around me, who are in love, it seems more like a nuisance than something worth pursuing.”
► Do you believe in love at first sight ➔ “I don’t believe in love at all.”
► Who ended your last relationship ➔ Ainu lets out a frustrated sigh. “It should be obvious at this point, but I have never had that kind of relationship. First of all: I would be insane if I let another person that close to me. And secondly: even if such a miracle happened, it would eventually fail, because the other party couldn’t handle everything a pact like that with me would bring with it.”
► Have you ever broken someone’s heart ➔  “I think I... maay have broken my mother’s heart at some point. She’s been trying so hard to save me. Though, I’m not quite sure what she’s trying to save me from. She should know by now that I’m not one of those people who need saving.”
► Are you afraid of commitments ➔ “Commitments? Do you mean my pacts with my customers? No, I’m not afraid of commitments. If I had to name one of those few things in this messed up world I find meaningful, it would be my reputation and bringing honor to the shinobi who trained me.”
► Have you hugged someone within the last week? ➔ “Do hugs received from others count as me hugging them? They do? Then I’ve been hugged, yes.”
► Have you ever had a secret admirer ➔ “If I have, I’m not aware of it. However, in theory it could be entirely possible. People - well, mostly my family - keeps telling me how cute I am, so I wouldn’t be surprised if others would’ve noticed my charm as well.”
► Have you ever broken your own heart? ➔ “Hm. You nosy little cockroach just had to remind me, just for the sake of some interview? ...yes, I have broken my own heart. By believing that if I just was a good girl, she’d love me. If I just tried hard enough, I’d eventually gain her acceptance. And after she had left, I kept believing she’d come back for me. I wasted too many years telling lies to myself. Should’ve realized sooner the only living thing you can trust is yourself.”
SIX CHOICES
► Love or lust ➔ "Lust. Not that I’d be interested in it, but definitely lust rather than love. I think I already made my opinion about love clear earlier, yes?”
► Lemonade or iced tea ➔ “Iced tea, absolutely. I don’t know about you people here, but we drink quite a lot of tea in the east - both hot and cold.”
► Cats or Dogs ➔ “Cats. In general, I don’t like animals, but the less trouble they are the more I could say I like them. Besides, do you have any idea what a pain badly trained dogs can be especially to us smallfolk?”
► A few best friends or many regular friends ➔ Ainu repeats the word ‘friend’ and sneers. “Now there’s another thing I never learned to understand. People talk about friends like they’d be a good thing. I don’t call them friends, but backstabbers. I’d rather not have any of them.”
► Wild night out or romantic night in ➔ “Wild night out - alone.” Ainu smiles charmingly.
► Day or night ➔ “At night I feel most alive. Almost everyone else is asleep, and I’m free to do whatever I want, to whoever I want.”
FOUR HAVE YOU EVERS
► Been caught sneaking out ➔ “In the beginning of my training. I wasn’t used to suddenly having so much different rules to live by, so naturally I rebelled. I couldn’t understand why my mother... - Asagi at this point - would dare to leave me there. Anyhow... I soon realized one couldn’t be a good shinobi without discipline, so I never did it again.”
► Fallen down/up the stairs ➔ “I don’t think I have. My balance is unparalleled.”
► Wanted something/someone so badly it hurt? ➔ “Love”, she answers without thinking. Right after her mouth is twisted into a slightly creepy grin. “But that was before realizing it’s not necessary.”
► Wanted to disappear ➔ “Oh, a couple of times actually, mostly back when I was still in training but had just started practicing with real targets. Not to brag, but nowadays I’m quite good at what I do. Nevertheless, even I can’t completely avoid mistakes. My area of work is one of those were mistakes will likely cost you your life. So, yes... after being sloppy I’ve had angry targets chasing me. Without my training I wouldn’t have had a chance escaping them with these tiny feets of mine.”
FOUR PREFERENCES
► Smile or eyes ➔ “I don’t care about either, but if I had to choose one... smile. To be honest, I don’t like to look people in the eye. From their eyes it’s fairly easy to tell are they lying or not. It annoys me, when people are saying something, but their gaze tells they don’t mean a single word.”
► Shorter or Taller ➔ “Shorter. I hate it when people look down on me like I’d be some piece of shite they accidentally stepped on.” Ainu falls silent for a moment, and after a while, shrugs. “Then again... it’s also quite hilarious when people have to bow or kneel before me, when they want to whisper or give me something. I guess being a stump also has its’ boons...”
► Intelligence or Attraction ➔ “Attraction of course. The more intelligent people are, the more trouble they usually give me. I prefer situations where I’m the smartest one around.”
► Hook-up or Relationship ➔ Ainu’s unimpressed expression hints she’d probably rather watch paint dry or grass grow than talk about this kind of subjects. “Well... if I had to choose... hook-up. That wouldn’t tie me to anyone in any way. The less I have people around me the better.”
FAMILY
► Do you and your family get along ➔ “My current family? We get along just fine. ...Apart from some minor disagreements usually considering work and how it’s supposed to be done. Sometimes it makes me wonder would they listen to me more if I had born roegadyn instead.”
► Would you say you have a “messed up life” ➔ Ainu giggles, but there’s no genuine amusement in her voice. “Well, at least it hasn’t been normal, if that’s what you mean. It... could’ve been better. I admit seeing happy families and people having fun with their friends tend to make me somewhat bitter, even angry. But perhaps those things just weren’t meant for me. I’m capable of things those regular people are not, and I believe the Kami have bigger plans for me than some boring everyday life.”
► Have you ever ran away from home ➔ “No, but I probably should have.”
► Have you ever gotten kicked out ➔ “Yes, and that’s the exact reason why I should’ve ran away. If I had just realized sooner what was going on... But meh... I guess it’s unreasonable to expect a five-year-old or younger to understand your parent is actually a piece of filth you would be better without.”
FRIENDS
► Do you secretly hate one of your friends ➔ Ainu lets out a frustrated sigh. “Since you seem to be unable to grasp the concept of not having friends, I’m just going to answer your friend-related questions by using my family members instead. Does that sound good? Good.”
► Do you consider all of your friends good friends ➔ Ainu pouts while shifting her hands behind her back. “Mostly. My adoptive sisters are both as... tolerable as siblings can be, I think. I’m not so sure about Bella, though, and what she’s going to do with her life. Same with my aunt, Silke. Those two are the only law-abiding citizens of our family - as far as I know at least - so that kind of forces me to keep my eye on them. If a betrayal were to happen, they’d be my main suspects.”
► Who is your best friend ➔ “Aya”, Ainu answers without a moment of hesitation. “If I had to name one thing I truly appreciate in people - besides not stabbing me in the back, obviously - it would be their ability to return my friendly bantering and not get offended by it.”
► Who knows everything about you ➔ Ainu smiles sunnily, before answering: “No one. Though mother is probably quite close to it.”

The Blue Pacifist's Delectable Dessert
((Heya guys. I have to upgrade a previous fanfic I made last year to make it a little more steamy than before. Changed a few sentences since they didn't come out right, fixed the title and such. But now, here's a better revamped version of everyone's favorite Maverick hunting duo enjoying their off duty vacation, or a private "meeting" away from their comrades at Hunter HQ. Before reading, you don't have to read or view this that involves yaoi, especially sexual stuff. However, for those of you who admire boy's love, then feel free to enjoy the fiction with your heart's content. Anywho, hope you guys enjoy reading! 😊✌))
Pairing: X/Zero
Rated: M
Franchise: Megaman X
Daytime at Maverick Hunter HQ, before the maverick crimes have occurred into the middle of the town on Abel City. Humans and Reploids still coexist as one into the similar society without restrictions. At Headquarters, the fearless hunting crusaders X and Zero, dueling against the king of all maverick monstrosity as well as former commander, Sigma. Right now, they are off duty to enjoy their lives together with no further disturbances from anyone. Especially the dual pistol wielding wild child, Axl.
The brunette is finally working onto the reports in peace, away from the devastating wars, genocide and such, just to clear his mind except one memory to be stored forever. The only person who truly looks up to him more than others and accepts him for who he really is that he cannot live without: Zero. A serious mentor who is no joke and meant business when it comes to criminals. Even blood thirsty irregulars. Elsewhere, he is practicing in the training simulator for a perfect score, no mistakes. Thinking about his partner while training fuels his stamina, speed, strength and mind to increase ten times faster than before, as well as running away from his nightmarish past. Slashing and hacking each and every one of them in one sweep of a broom or feather cleaner. His saber is the vacuum and mavericks are the dust that spread the mess across the carpet. All set and done, this session has been completed. Civilians saved, villains whacked. With nothing better to do, he returns to check on his friend for an “emergency meeting”.
“Yo, X.”
“Oh. Hey Zero. How are you?”
“Meh, training’s alright. But way too easy for yours truly.”
“He he he. As you always say.”
Both of them chuckled during a small conversation.
“So anyway, X. We’re gonna be attended on a serious meeting this afternoon about something important.”
“OK, Zero. I’ll be there shortly.”
He nodded as the rose red android walked off to his room. With a special plan he has in mind for his shy lover while rubbing his hands together, chuckling evilly.
“He he he he… Oh, I’ll give him a serious meeting alright. A very special one in store he’ll never forget for the rest of his life."
This afternoon passed, the forest pupil eyed peace lover has been reminded about this "meeting” that his buddy mentioned earlier to participate as he walked over to his room to tell him that it will began shortly. The red blonde is already ahead of him, all prepped for something sexually important. A perfect chance for some fun until the blue hunter begins to knock on his partner’s door, but it was opened automatically.
“Hello? Zero? Are you in here? I’m here to inform you about the starting of today's meeting. Are you ready?”
He went inside to pick him up for the meeting, but then, something around the room has changed quickly. Red all around him, completely established. Candles, roses, and more into a special decoration. Could this be some sort a trick or perhaps anything else?
“Yes, my little soft cupcake~. I’m ready~. And this time, there’s gonna be some changes around here~. We’re having our own private meeting together~. Alone~"
The deep soothing and calm voice was coming from the shadows echoing across the brunette when the door had suddenly closed behind him automatically. Then, a strange long haired silhouette proceeds slowly with one hand placed onto the hip exiting from the bathroom. Closer and closer to him with the pink reddish tongue rotating across his lips.
"Z...Zero?"
“Come over here, my cute little disciple~" Allured the sunshine headed superior with his finger moving, commanding the sea armored buster user to proceed at him. "And let me.......comfort you with my hospitality~"
"Well... Alright then." Responded the blueberry 17th commander, covered by his own shade of blushed scarlet while proceeding towards his hard yet sexy senpai.
It was Zero, who had faked the whole scheme about the serious meeting shtick all along by surprise, roping his arms around his cerulean lover's neck after approaching himself to him.
"So~ How about you, X~? You ready for our occasional meeting alone~? With your one and only senpai~?" Comely said the erotic crimson ex maverick, rubbing his bae's underchin.
"Uhh… Zero?” Flustered the shy Light bot.
“Shhhhh~…. No need to speak, little man~” The blond placed his finger onto his young lover’s lips to interrupt his question, placing him politely onto the bed to sit him down. "Just try to relax by taking a seat to forget about those dull reports all day long and enjoy a quality time of watching me perform for you~“
"O...OK..." He hardly gulped.
Before the start of this romantic business, the sapphire droid looked towards his lover for a moment. Seeing him in a different outfit. Meaning that he’s not wearing his inner suit underneath his armor, but it shows off half of his body and abs while wearing a sparkling knotted crop top sided with a long dancing dress knotted around his waist, the different kind with a slit design showing the left leg. Detailed with a non see through mask to cover the luscious lips for later, along with the initialed pierced Z shaped gem within his succulent navel. It was very hot for him to wear, so he strips from it to cool down. Golden hair fully tightened into a ponytail to make it doesn't blond his view from gazing towards his pure blue joy.
"Uhh… Uhhh…” The brunette was speechless after witnessing his mentor’s gorgeous abs, blushing nervously like a strawberry.
“Mmm, you like my flawless abs, X~? He he he he~... Then perhaps I might show it off to you, if you like~” He winked flirtatiously at the empathetic B class buster user, starting to do a lustful belly dance slowly for a pleasurable entrainment while moving his manly hips to spice up the entire mood, including his partner in crime. Blowing a kiss while performing to keep the commander of the 17th unit company. As he dances, the unique hips are starting to sway motionly, performing in front of the only person he knows and trust the most. Then, he began to stroke all over his entire body endlessly to throw the mild pleasure upon his partner, moaning in satisfaction.
“Z…Zero..? What is going on?” The bright sapphire shades gun bearer asked, dripping by the sweat of flush.
“He he he he he~ No need to ask such pointless questions, baby blue~ What you really need to do is focus on my delicious hot body, waiting for you to become its victim~.” Winked the previous irregular android, motioning his hands upon his iron well being seductively right in front of X.
Shaking his harden hips rapidly will shut away the boring stuff from his lover’s mind, wanting him to focus on what’s important, increasing the intensity of his energy. He slowly runs his entire body all over his abs and crotch to create an endless spell upon the shy brunette. To permanently spread around this room including him. Endlessly.
“Succumb to my glorious gem, X~ Try not to flee away from something impossible to resist so easily~” He compelled, pouring more of his charms on his tree bark haired boyfriend. “Obey my hard, ripped, succulent body~”
“Z...Zero…? Have you gone....insane all of a s-!”
Before he could even ended his sentence, the tall motivator in red jammed his lips into his shyly lover's, eating away the dreary worries right out of his body with a seductive force. But slowly while placing the hand onto his partner's cute little crotch.
"M...Mmmmph~?!"
"Mmmmmmmmmmm~"
"Mmmmph~! Mmmmmmmph~!"
"Mmmmmmm~ Mmmmmm~"
A few hours then, after for a longing spell of a smooch given by the upperclass crimson has forced the B class novice to wallow in a pool of desires, no hoping for exits or escape plans as an excuse to leave but to accept this love virus seeping down his core. Replacing the bad memories filled with conflict, into something more clear and important as in "staring at anything beautiful like my best friend" type memory.
"So baby~ What did ya think of my gift~?" He asked with awareness.
"It's beautiful, my master~...." Replied the blue sky themed android, compelled fully despite of the deep slurping kiss. "I will happily cherish your gift by placing my eyes onto you~...."
"Good boy~"
Perfectly hypnotized by the further kiss, the blond seductively dances his way to him with his hips rattling, bending over to make out with his friend’s lips deeply. Taking his hands and placed them on his buffed waists in the middle of dancing as he kisses the young blueberry, who started to caress his boyfriend’s legs non stop in a looping motion.
“Mmm~ I love it when you playfully massage my thighs, X~” He sighed in pleasure while kissing the honorable blue hunter some more. "Oh, your hands are so soft and yet also deliciously warm on my body~ Ohhh~ Unh~ U...Unh~..."
“Mmm…” The muffled moan during the mouth connection has drained the sadness out of the cerulean individual and filled his body with satisfaction.
Now his true focus is on the one person he knows and trust while circling his arms onto his golden haired lover’s hips. While dancing even more lustfully, he smoothly strokes his body all over once more until suddenly…..
“Oops~! He he he he~ Oh my~.... What an unfortunate accident I’ve done to myself~. Or is it~?” He giggled, pretended that one of his fingers have slipped into his innie of the stomach.
The accident that happened right now is that the former scarlet Wily bot have “accidentally” placed his finger inside his diamond shaped navel. One of the most flawless man cave to ever search into, or perhaps to play with it slow and hard.
The kind hearted gunner started to blush even darker when he first witness his red bae’s “accidental act” that he did. Almost fainted by chance, but unfortunately not. His pure little heart would began to pump a beat slowly and hastily at the same time.
“Z….Zero! What in God’s name are you doing?!” Blushed the B Class hunter, covering his nose to prevent the starting of the perverted bleeding. But it’s useless.
“He he he he~ Maybe I should.... play with my cave just to amuse you even more~” Said the A Class mentor with a seductive tone, rubbing his godly pit of the navel with his finger before shoving it inwards by a slow motion.
He does so right away by circling his finger inside the navel slowly before doing something hard and fun. Moaning softly and panting with pleasure and starting swirling his tongue upon his lips has made the peace loving android very love sick. Seeing his lover playing around with his beautiful navel, this is completely new to him. His perfect desire towards his lovable potential boyfriend has launched the rocket up to the stars for a special 4th of July. The blue hunter flustered in red, attempting to resist this dazzling beauty before him, trying to fight off the spell from possessing his mind. However, it is no use to defend himself from it.
“Mmmmmm~ It’s useless to resist, X~ Especially from my flawless charms~Just surrender to it and worship my treasure tomb~” He sexually compelled the young reploid, playing with his navel some more and licking his lips in sultry with a purr. Wiggling his entire hips to move his tiny tummy hole very closely to the sapphire droid. "Come on, boy~ I know you wanna taste this sweet dessert that you desperately desire~ Or are really you nervous~? He he he he~"
"G...Good God..." He gulped once again, fighting off his own inclination by attempt. Avoiding to break the code of the Maverick Hunters regulation that was promised not to disobey, but the irresistible charms caused by the blonde sword user would place a cage upon him to make it very impossible to ignore or to escape. With no choice but to suffer and witness the "poisonous" beauty before him.
"Oooooh~ My navel is so hot along with my body~ Don't you agree, my sweet little kohai~?" Flirted the flaming themed slasher, deepening his tasty treasure hole to force his blooming violet to submit. Stretching it wide by two fingers of the other hand should be able to create an irresistible trick to toss it across his face. Exiting the entire tongue right out of his mouth, preparing for a rocking party, running the lips into a slowly yet circular pose. "It feels so good when I pleasure it so passionately~ And yet so freaking hot from all the hard work under the summer evening~ Maybe I should fetch something cool to keep my hard sexy body fully hydrated~" With that said, he immediately swipe the bottle of clear water kept in his mini fridge and opened it by removing the cap. However, the idea in his head was right ahead of him when he started to pour the pure H2O all over his whole anatomy. Chest orbs, stomach, the works in order to ultimately arouse the blushing B Class warrior. And most importantly, his crispy navel until one of the drops have entered within it.
"Mmmmm~ That's much better~ So refreshing~" He moaned, while being all wet with more liquid splashed upon him. "I'm feeling so filthy when my body is still sweaty~ Guess I should clean myself up because I'm a dirty hunter~" Still moist into the raining drips of clean water, he commenced himself by caressing the crimson armored anatomy all day long. Sided with massaging the chest and crotch. Secondly, the rounded booty. Then last but not least, his treasured innie.
"Ahhh~ I can't stop polishing myself when I'm around you, baby~ Even my flavorable cavern is quite moist too, especially since I punish it~" He groaned in satisfaction, screwing with his irresistible abs and navel rapidly "without" ever to control himself or urges. Arousing his precious little pacifist by getting him to submit.
"Mmmm~ What a naughty little navel I have~ So soggy and yet irresistibly moist~ It even wants me to give a little punishment for being so wet from this cool water~"
"*gasps* M...My goodness... His gorgeous body.... Along with his navel... It's so... sexy.... No...! I must resist from this distraction.... I must..." He hyperventilates. Feeling of his core skipping a beat like a heart due to exercising for raising the blood level. He began to shield his eyes by looking away from the unavoidable charm, however, had almost peered at the handsome sun haired mentor's navel.
"Mmmmmm~ That's right, baby blue~ What you've seen before you is the most perfect jewel of all~ You see, my navel may be beautiful, but it's kinda dirty for me to clean it up~ If only there's someone with a tender heart that would do me a huge favor, I'll gladly give him a special reward for his hard work~" He roleplayed, staring the attention at the sky colored freedom fighter who is still struggling to battle against his urges.
The gorgeous red individual takes his other finger to allure the young reploid into a  “comehere” position while the other hand seductively explores his man cave even deeper than ever before. He winked at him sexually along with a chuckle and purred into his earport as he tilted forward. h
"Oh X~" Singly spoken the A Class expert, sex talking towards the kind hearted blaster user by lifting his head gently and whispers in his ear. "Mmmm X~ You're even more handsome in that shy expression on your face, trying to look away from my warm, passionate, unyielding body that I'm gonna give you for being a good boy who obeys his master~ I love that in a reploid~ Which is why it makes my navel REALLY hot by your innocence~...." Licking across the listening port, the young commander of the 17th unit have flustered to the max.
"O...Oh d..d..dear...." He shooked with slight hesitation, trying to backward himself from this cornered "predicament".
"Mmmm, I wanna please you the living crap outta you so bad, boy~ Even to punish you all the way~"
"G...Gulp..." The nervousness effect had already gain this opportunity to take him as well as the body under his control to assist him by force, stretching his eyelids of prevention trying not to fall asleep in the center of the blonde beauty's impossible view of sexual performance grappling around him. On the other hand, the tall mentor in bright burgundy strolled forward to give his "more than a friend" boy toy a very longing purr into his ear port.
“Purrrrrrr~"He said into his lover's hearing port. "Just give yourself up, kid~ Like I said before, it's useless to escape from my powerful charms~ Look into my eyes and be mine~ You have no choice but to surrender my spell~ Look at me, X~ Become my slave~"
"U...Uhhh… I….I…. ” Until then, the endless spell has grasped him tightly at last. Showering all over his mind with both his belly dancing pleasure and some delicious navel punishing to erase away the unwanted views of wars and death. All of it will disappear from existence forever
“Yes, my senpai… I will focus upon your beautiful domain…” Said the hypnotized brunette, completely paralyzed by his lover’s consensual spell.
“Mmmm~ Much better~” The blond smiled seeing his lover finally succumbed to the spell as he dances his way to him. Shaking his delectable hips non stop along with the investigation going on inside his navel until he finally reaches towards to the shy reploid. Placing his other hand on his cheek, rubbing in circulation like the one with his bottomless pit on the right and then, he tilted once again towards his ear with a ravishing whisper.
“You’ve been a very good boy, X~ I'm so proud of you for paying attention~" Zero grinned with glad. "For doing such a wonderful job, I think it’s time for you to enjoy your well earned dessert~”
He revoke his finger from the navel, gesturing his lover closely with his other one once more as the sensitive hunter slowly advances towards his stomach, preparing for a taste of his scrumptious treat. With him completely under the desirable spell, he shall gain the honors of inserting his tongue into his mentor’s stomach hole while feeling the groping palm squeezing his tiny blue bottom along a little spanking, wanting his bae belching out a silent moan of enjoyment. Finally enjoying the hot meeting with him alone was the excellent plan. Continuously rubbing his senpai’s hips while licking his prized gem.
“Unh~ Uhh~ Oh yes~ Yes~ That’s it, my dear kohai~ Embrace my treasure closely as your life depends on it~" Panted the irregular hunting master, teasing his disciple's blueberry ass into a circular fashion.
"As you wish, my handsome senpai~” He muffled while licking non stop, blushing in pink shade due to the soft senses from his instructor's hand.
During the enjoyment of a private yet sensual meeting, both of them began to make out all the way upon the bed while the innocent android rubs the hips of his fellow dancer endlessly, while the pepper colored tutor continuously fingers his cave seductively. After that, he allows the emerald eyed hunter to lick inside of it with his tongue, swirling it around as he moaned passionately and permanently.
“Oh yes~ Yes~ Mmmm~ Worship my man cave, X~ It needs its nourishment and must be parched immediately~” He panted lustfully of commandment
Yes, my sexy mentor~.... I will polish your flawless pit with all my force~...." Replied the ocean colored apprentice, searching deeper within the body hole by tongue.
"Mmmmm~ Oh God~ Unh~ Unh~ Keep going, baby~ Oh, my body is really boiling hot right now~"
The indigo hunter kept going faster and faster than ever while the blond wraps his arms around his neck, holding it closer for a deeper search as well as nourishment. Both of them moaned back and forth, right, left, up, down, in, out, hot, cold, night, day. Things are getting even more intense yet somewhat pleasurable. This sexual meeting between the two hunters is the best important meeting than any other kind of hobby. The master expert purrs again with lust and enjoyment while his indigo student kept licking his favorable snack/dessert further and further.
“Oh X…. X…. X…. X…. X…. X…. X….X.... X.... X.... X.... X.... X..... X..... X..... X....X!!!!!!!!!
Several times of the red swordsman humming his lover’s name continuously until something inside him erupts with love juice. Panting even faster like he’s rushing to save someone from jeopardy as the sky painted gun fighter kept enjoying it harder and longer until the meeting has been concluded. All of the bad memories deep within the Class A mentor’s brain are finally replaced and done away with at last, storing a new one to help him remember someone close and trustworthy to him always. Finally, he can obtain the rest that he deserves, hugging his beloved blueberry with descending tears.
"Ahhhhh..... God.... That was extraordinary.... Thanks, babe~" He sighed, huffing with a thrill of sensation warming his frozen heart.
Nightfall arises as the beautiful moonlight appears above the skies, shining through the windows. Both hunters are cuddling each other closely, bodies pressed tightly and arms trapped around them in a loving sensual way.
“Oh Zero… This was the most romantic meeting I’ve ever attended to.” Smiled the innocent peace lover, intrigued by this new experience.
“Heh. Glad you think so, babe~ What’s really inspiring is that you really enjoyed the dessert I gave you~” He said.
“Y…Yeah. It really is delicious~” The brunette blushed as the blond kissed him on the forehead.
And so, both of them lean closer for a soft and deep kiss for an amazing day, hopefully it might get even beautiful next time when it’s nighttime. Saying “I love you” to each other before enjoying the comfort of each other within their bed. This has been the best vacation of their lives. No mavericks nor interruptions whatsoever to spoil their loving bonds. Just the two of them, all alone in this room. The blue monarch and the red hornet.
"I love you, my sexy red dragon~"
"I love you too, my beautiful blue unicorn~"

Anyways, the idea actually came from this dream that I had while having an afternoon nap and I had to get it out of my system!
I also posted this on AO3.

Nothing has been going right for you this week.
Your boyfriend called it quits with you after expressing how he finds the relationship boring now. You didn’t stop him though, because you know better than chasing someone who doesn’t want to be with you through ups and downs of a relationship.
Work-life hasn’t been easy on you as well. It seems that no matter how much you think you’ve been completing your tasks swiftly, you look back and there’s a new pile waiting for your attention, plus, your manager seems to be doubting your ‘actual work hours’.
The loud sound of the volleyball hitting the floor snapped you out of your stress-filled train of thoughts.
“That’s Japan’s most powerful canon for ya,” you mumbled, eyeing Wakatoshi from the bleachers as he runs to the back of the line for another play.
After you’ve ranted your heart out to Wakatoshi about how stressful the past few days have been for you over the phone last night, he invited you to come to the Adlers’ practice. “I remember how you used to release your stress by playing volleyball back in high school,” he said.
“Am I even allowed to interrupt your practice just to de-stress? Toshi please.”
“You can sneak in during the free time.”
You smiled at the memory of Wakatoshi who once got scolded back in high school for letting in outsiders on the school ground.
“It’s fine, Toshi. Besides, I don’t think I have the energy to play,” you groaned. “But maybe, I can watch you guys practice?”
“Okay.”
“And maybe we can grab some food afterwards?”
There was quite a long pause. “Just like the old times? We haven’t hung out in a while”, you added.
You hear that sigh of defeat from Wakatoshi, followed by a reply, “Just like the old times.” —
Just watching them play volleyball helped you ease some stress out of your system. The sound of the bouncing ball, loud cheers after great plays, the smell of air salonpas; you haven’t been in this environment for so long. To be specific, ever since you got together with your ex-boyfriend, you’ve never been in a single volleyball match despite the fact that you’re actually friends with a few professional volleyball players. Your ex-boyfriend wasn’t fond of any type of sports, which is why you can never really convince him to go to one. And whenever you have free time from work, he’ll bring you to parties which you never really enjoyed.
Few more hours of just watching Wakatoshi in practice matches with his fellow Adlers brought you back to your days in Shiratorizawa as the team captains of your respective volleyball teams. You two started getting along when you both found yourselves at the gym during the weekends, just playing volleyball instead of heading out somewhere like the other students who are staying at the dorm.
Even though Wakatoshi is not someone who seemed to talk a lot, you still would ask him tips about volleyball and workout routines as he walked you back to your dorm. It happened so often that the conversations during your walks were no longer limited to volleyball (again, it is you that initiated the questions). His answers are often short and blunt, straight to the point, but you, later on, realized that he’s just really like that no matter who he talks to. He’s just that honest and that’s what probably made you feel comfortable with him. You only knew that he feels the same way when he started to consult to you about the ‘jokes’ from his teammates that he didn’t seem to understand.
After-practice-meals also became a thing for the two of you, and it was in those times when you would explain to him what his teammates’ jokes meant. You find it funny and cute at the same time that he’s maintaining that straight, stern, but somewhat clueless face as you explain things and his occasional “Oh, that’s what it is.” Most of the time, Satori would tag along with you, and you bonded with him over food. The small smiles that escape your lips and that smitten look that you have whenever you have small discussions with Wakatoshi did not escape Satori though.
As you walk back to the dorms with the two guys, Satori made sure to follow your pace. “By now, I think you know how dense he can be, right?” Satori said in a low voice.
The lamp posts on the side of the road did not help in hiding your flushed face to Satori. “Am I that obvious now?”
“Everyone in the team knows, except Wakatoshi, of course,” Satori replied with a teasing laugh which earned him a groan from your end. “Hmmm, he’s probably not even aware of it, but his soft side often comes out whenever you are around. The team can see it, but no one dares to speak. I think even if we do, he won’t understand it.”
“I really don’t know, Satori,” you started, staring at Wakatoshi’s back who’s walking ahead of the two of you. “I don’t think it’s the right time just yet. For him. For me. Right now, volleyball is what probably consumes his mind and his heart the most. Even if we would get together, I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up with it. Sure, I love the sport, but after knowing him, I realized that what I feel towards the sport is not even half of what he does.”
“He’s The Super Volleyball Maniac after all,” Satori commented.
“What’s up with that name?!” you laughed and Wakatoshi looked back. “What?”
“Nothing!” You dismissed, running up to him and held onto his arm, dragging him to move faster. “Let’s get going now before we go past the curfew!”
“Wakatoshi! Toshi!!” You called out as he comes out of the locker room with his teammates. You waved at him and he immediately went your way as he saw you.
You suddenly hear your phone ringing and you grab it to check, and the incoming phone call was from a co-worker. You signalled to him that you’re gonna take the call and turned around. While talking to your co-worker on the phone, you suddenly felt his warm presences behind you and his arms going around your waist. This made you stutter as you tried your best to keep the conversation going with your co-worker and just started at Wakatoshi as he wrapped his jacket around your waist and went in front of you to tie it up.
After the call, you were able to collect yourself, but your blushing face didn’t help at all. “Are you okay?” Wakatoshi asked.
“Yes, I’m fine. I was just surprised I thought you were gonna hug—” you stopped yourself the moment you realized that you’re speaking out your thoughts.
Now it was his turn to blush. “What were you doing anyway?!” You rather asked loudly, hoping that he didn’t hear you rambling, but the flushed and confused Wakatoshi in front of you says otherwise.
“There was some dirt stains on your pants. Maybe you got it from the bleachers earlier so I covered it with my jacket.”
You lightly hit his arm and gave him a smile. “Gentleman.”
He only replies with a knowing look.
“We need to get going now, Toshi. There’s this place with really good udon near Koganei Park!” You drag him by the arm to the exit of the gym but he managed to follow your pace. You two quietly walk together, your hand still holding on to his arm.
“How are you?” He asked.
“A bit better now.” You replied. “You were right. Volleyball did help me de-stress, even though I was only watching from the bleachers.”
“Do you still plan on getting back together with him?”
You were surprised with it since it’s usually you who initiates such questions, but nevertheless, you gave him an answer. “Nah. Never. He thinks I’m boring because I don’t enjoy the parties that we go to. And he doesn’t like volleyball or any sports at all. Now that I think of it, we didn’t have anything in common. Why did I even waste my time on that guy!?”
“Then will you go out with me?” You stopped dead in your tracks and you turn your head to look at him. Your hand still holding onto his arms. He looked and sounded very calm, so you are unsure if he’s trying to deliver a joke in a deadpan manner just like he used to. “I don’t think you’re boring. You never were and you’ll never be. I like volleyball and I’m a professional volleyball player. I might not be able to invite you to parties but I can invite you to all of my games and practices which you will surely enjoy. You love volleyball too so we have that in common— “
“Why do you sound like you’re in a job interview?” you deadpanned.
He makes a confused face but replies, “Is being a boyfriend a job? I’m applying.”
“Yes. Your job is to hang out with me.” You answered.
“Just like the old times.”
“Yes. But even better now.”
End Notes:
Scenes that were taken out of this dream that I had: - The reader calling Wakatoshi when he went out from the locker room (it wasn't exactly a locker room, but he was going out from a restaurant I guess? I had to change it to match the story) and the reader calling him "Wakatoshi! Toshi!" - Lending his jacket to the reader. - Reader holding onto him and he asks "How are you?"

Part 5 - Fluff, a bit of crack
2.3k words   ( Part of the Dorm of us Series)
Warnings: None
A/N: owemji I’m so sorry for the late upload, got a little bit busy these days. But here is part 5, hope you read it in enjoyment! <3
Tension filled the air as Jaemin and Renjun rode their way to their destination. Both of them were anxious even though they have spoken to Haechan a couple weeks back.
Jaemin tries to ease his mind. He wasn’t sure if he was actually ready for this moment, where he will finally get the answers to his endless questions. When he first met Haechan he wanted to bombard him with thousands and hundreds of questions. But the look on Haechan’s face changed his mind and he decided to let things settle in first.
And so, this was the day. He can’t lie that he was nervous but he was also in anticipation of what his long lost friend explanation would be.
Jeno decided not to join them since the three of them agreed to not say a single word about this to you. They thought that you might be startled considering that things are happening quickly.
The other boys were actually surprised that he got Haechan’s number. Why he? wouldn’t he regrets everything that he did in the past. It doesn’t look like it but Jaemin really wants to fix all the scars that it had left them since that night.
Yes, he still feels uncomfortable around him considering that they didn’t really get to talk about it until now. However, if Haechan really did love Miri then he was more than ready to step aside for his best friend.
The two of them arrived at the meeting place, a coffee shop to be exact. Haechan said to meet him there. They went in and the familiar scent of coffee calmed Jaemin’s mind.
They looked around to try and find the brown haired boy but seems to not be there. Jaemin glanced at his wrist watch, his eyes widening.
“Uhm Renjun?” Jaemin anxiously call.
“What?” Renjun replies, annoyed as he keeps turning his head in search of the boy.
“I think Haechan ditched us, look” Jaemin says showing the time to Renjun.
Renjun gasps. His eyebrows furrow at him. Jaemin knows that he was the reason why they were late. He maybe just overslept you know just a tiny itsy bit but not too much.
He chuckled nervously and showed a ‘piece sign’. “ehehhehe sorry.”
Renjun was ready to beat the shit out him, when they heard a voice calling them.
“Guys over here!”
They turned their heads to see Haechan, in a barista outfit. He works here?
Renjun immediately sprinted towards Haechan, while Jaemin follows him behind. They went ahead and sat.
“Good thing you guys arrived just in time, my shift is ending any minute now,” He turns his head towards the counter, “I’ll be back in a sec.” He stands up and went to a ‘employee only’ room.
The two boys stared at him as he disappeared into the room. As soon as he went inside, they immediately laugh their heads off.
“OMG did you see him in that outfit? HAHAHAHAHAHA” Jaemin chortled at the sight of Haechan in a barista outfit.
“Then he goes before blabla ‘I don’t like coffee it disgusts me’ lol“ renjun mimicks Haechan’s words back in high school days, showing Jaemin a disguted vomiting face.
Well, it is actually true that Haechan hated coffee. He literally was disgusted by the mere sight of it. Whenever Jaemin drinks coffee, he would immediately make his distance. A ‘line’ was somehow invented everytime someone in their group drinks coffee. It sucks for him though cause everyone drinks coffee in their group of friends.
There was a time when they forced him to drink a latte and he ended up puking in the toilet for an hour straight. The dorm was so noisy that time since everyone wanted to go number 2 but Haechan refused. He says it was a punishment for letting him drink that disgusting liquid.
The two of them continued guffawing in laughter. Until they heard someone cleared their throat. They looked up to see Haechan with a resting bitch face, he changed his clothes and is now holding a tray with three americanos. His eyes gesturing to the people in the cafe that were giving them weird menacing looks.
They immediately straightened up their postures and gave a small bow to the customers who continued to mind their own businesses.
“I know what you two are talking about.” Haechan takes a seat infront of them and crosses his arms, raising an eyebrow.
“Hey no matter how hard life must have been for you we wouldn’t expect to see you in a cafe with a fucking barista outfit!” Renjun chuckles while Haechan just rolls his eyes.
Jaemin just stares at his two friends in delight. Though he was still nervous about this meet up, it looks like everything will go smoothly. If he was honest, he is actually enjoying his time around him.
“Anyways, let’s start the serious talk now. You guys have questions or what?” Haechan asks.
“Meh, just say what you say then we’ll comment on later.” Renjun says leaning on his chair, ready for a story time.
Haechan took a deep breath and gazed at the two of them intently.
“It all started on that day back in high school...”
Tumblr media
“And I escaped, I saved enough money now for me to at least finish the last semester of college. I think I can survive until graduation this year.”
“Ow god, you experienced hard shit bro I’m sorry. We should’ve contacted you sooner.” Renjun looks at Haechan with regretful eyes.
“It’s okay, it was my choice to cut communication with you guys. And I understand if it things will be awkward for a while.”
Renjun nods at Haechan’s remark. Then both of their gazes suddenly went to Jaemin, who was staring at Haechan with serious eyes.
“Um Jaemin?” Haechan asks in confusion.
Jaemin was taken over by his emotions, tears started to form in his eyes. He stood up without notice and went over towards Haechan, immediately giving him a tight hug.
Haechan was startled and didn’t know what he was going to do until he felt his sweatshirt getting soaked up. He slowly pats Jaemin’s head as the boy started to weep.
But then Jaemin unexpectedly lifted Haechan, carrying him in his embrace. Which made the boy startled in return.
“Haechannie I missed you so much I am so sorryy! I don’t know why I beat you up for that bitch I’m so sorryyy.” He buried his head in Haechan’s neck as he continue to shed his tears out.
Haechan’s startled face immediately softened.
“Aw I miss you too buddy and I already forgave you, but please put me down it’s embarrassing.”  Haechan whispers the last part of his sentence.
“I don’t want to.” He says in an cute tone.
Renjun frowns. “He didn’t really changed as you can see, I don’t know how that guy can save you from danger and be an embarrassing piece of shit at the same time.” He shooks his head in disbelief.
Jaemin gave him a deadly glare, still carrying Haechan. Renjun gave him an nervous smile with a matching finger heart. Jaemin returned his gaze to Haechan which unbelievably change within seconds. From a deadly glare to having hearts in his eyes.
Haechan gestured Jaemin to put him down and he finally did but he still clinged to Haechan as if he was an sloth that was clinging on to a tree for dear life.
“You’ll comeback to the dorm won’t you?” Jaemin pleads, giving him his “puppy eyes’ look. Haechan smiled awkwardly at him and turns to face Renjun, giving him a ‘should I say yes?’ look. Renjun chuckles and gave him a nod.
Haechan smiles, it was genuine this time and gave Jaemin a sign of approval. The boy smiles and tightened his arms around him not noticing Haechan was running out of oxygen from how tight his squeeze was.
Haechan pat Jaemin’s arm continuously until he finally let go of him and went back to his seat while Renjun gave him a disgusted face. Of course being the weird person he is, he didn’t bother Renjun and was smiling like he was a psychopath.
“Oh I have one question for you.” Jaemin asks as he remembered. Haechan just hums and drinks his beverage, curious of what his question might be.
“You didn’t really loved Oh Miri did you?”
Haechan almost choked on his drink. “No! Of course not who would like that kind of a person?” He shooks his head as he answers.
Renjun points to Jaemin. “This guy.”
He slapped Renjun’s hand and crossed his arms. “No I didn’t, it was puppy love. I didn’t even know why I beat this guy for that girl. You guys know that I only love-” He stopped his sentence, realizing that he haven’t told the guys well except Jeno, about that matter.
“You only love who?” Haechan teasingly asks.
“Ow are you in love with someone that we don’t know about? Care to share hmm?” Renjun added.
Jaemin abruptly stood up and glanced at his wrist watch.
“No time. Renjun you accompany Haechan to gather his stuff at his apartment.” Jaemin pointed at Renjun.
“What?!” Renjun exclaims in confusion.
“He’s moving in with us today.”
“But-”
“No buts, I’ll see you guys later I gotta go talk to someone. Haechannie can just pick up a couple of items and a few clothes, I’ll manage the rest. Bye bye!.” He explains and then made his way to the exit leaving the two boys in their seats, both bewildered.
Jaemin wanted to spend time with Haechan for the rest of the day as he still wanted to apologize properly. However since he just got things clarified, he needs to talk to the person who is the root of this misunderstanding that has been going on for years.
He dials the number on his phone as he waves his hand to call a cab. Once he got in, the person answered.
“Hello?”
“Hi”
“Oh Jaemin~.”
“Meet me at the park. You have explanations to do, Oh Miri.”
Tumblr media
The place that Jaemin had selected for their meet up was quite silent, even though it was also a coffee shop.
The atmosphere was cozy and warm contrasting the cold air that was coming out from the air conditioner. He was reminded of the days back in high school. When you and Jaemin used to go to quiet coffee shops in order to escape the ugly arguments of Renjun and Haechan.
He chuckles to himself. He wonders if it will still be like the good old days now that Haechan has returned. There was only one more thing to resolve.
“Hey Jaemin.”
Jaemin raises his gaze. There she was, Oh Miri. The girl he loved, but why can’t feel anything? Anger? Lust? Love? There was none. His heart is supposed to be beating right now, right? But he feels, empty.
That’s why he’s here, to resolve that one misunderstanding left.
His feelings.
Miri took her seat across Jaemin and gave him a sweet smile.
“So what are going to talk about? Oh, you wanna get back together? Hahahaha I knew you would say-”
“No Miri,” Jaemin cuts her off “I’m not here to get back together with you.” He says, seriousness evident on his words.
Miri’s gleeful smile faded. Her eyebrows met each other as she gave him a confused look.
“What do you mean?” She chuckles sarcastically, “Why would you not get back together with me? I don’t understand?” Miri states in befuddledment.
“Did you even loved one of us?”
“What?”
Jaemin lean towards the table and crossed his arms. “Come on Miri, I know you you have other intentions.”
Miri became silent. Jaemin smiled at her teasingly. He got her flustered, he was right about his assumptions. He leans back to his chair.
“You have nothing to hide now.”
“Okay fine! You’re right I never loved you.”
There she said it. However, he doesn’t feel anything. Has he really lost his feelings? Or is he a robot who doesn’t have a heart now?
He raised his eyebrow. “I know about that. Trust me I know about that” He lies.
“I am curious about Haechan, why did you want decided to marry him all of a sudden? You even left me behind.”
Jaemin saw guilt in her eyes but there was also...sadness?
Miri teared up in which to Jaemin’s surprise.
“Look Jaemin. My parents were having a hard time running our company. I have to marry an heir to a successful company, we didn’t want to be bankrupt .” Tears continue to fall from her eyes.
“I used you, I need to get closer to Haechan so I used you. But that didn’t work, so things went down hill. We have to force him. It wasn’t his fault Jaemin, it was mine I know that. I have to do what my family needs and wants me to do.” That’s when she broke, she kept on sobbing.
Jaemin just stares at her.
He sighs reaching his handkerchief at the back of his pocket and handed it to her. As soon as Miri received the handkerchief, Jaemin immediately stood up. Miri grabbed his hand.
“Wait where are you going?” She asks, her eyes were swollen from her sobbing.
“I’m leaving.”
“But-”
“Nothing will happen now Miri, I understand why you did that but that caused chaos within our friendship. I promise you, if you continue to interfere with our lives, I will not be the only one that will rage war with you.”
Jaemin gave her a last glance before harshly pulling his arm from her grip, he heads out for the door.
Now he understands, everything makes sense now. He looks at the calling card his ex gave him, shredding it to pieces.
Miri was not in his heart. She never was, she was only there to confuse him. Because the person he loved never changed.
After all these years he finally realized.
He laughs at himself for being an idiot. Of course, why didn’t he knew.
You were still the one
His heart still screams for your name, Y/n.
