Each time I reread Greek myths and related stuff, my love for Hades only grows stronger. I mean, if I have a family like his, I too would happily sit in the Underworld, enjoy darkness & silence and ignore what is going on up there between them all, bothering to get in contact with this bunch of petty idiots only if my hard work, family or pet were put in danger.
Hades really had the right idea and priorities set right and I totally respect him for that.

“Thanks again Miss O'asisk!” The youngling yelled as Freyu left.
“Take care!” She shouted back.
She waved the youngling goodbye then began walking back to where she had left Asichi, ready to go home after a long day of deliveries.
She'd had a relatively peaceful week, Omega still hadn't wanted to join the more frequent trips to Mlikix after the fright they had, and her little sister was being extra mindful about keeping her secret. Freyu wouldn't make Omega do anything she didn't want to anyway.
She hadn't been bothered by those bounty hunters since her threat nearly two weeks ago. They were still around, Cai’s spies reported seeing them in town, but they weren't messing with her or Omega and as long as that continued, she couldn't give a fuck about what they did.
Asichi whinnied as she approached, the mare trotted in place excitedly. Boa, sleeping on her back, whined at the disturbance of her nap.
“Did you have a good day, Asichi?” She asked, petting Asichi's velvety soft muzzle.
The mare neighed, stomping her feet impatiently, she was ready to go home.
“Alright, alright, I get it, it's been a long day. Let me just pack up then we can head home.” She said.
She took off her backpack, setting it on the hitching post so she could disassemble it into its much easier to carry parts. With the main bag being fully empty, aside from a few spare miscalculated orders, it was easy to fold up and fit behind the saddle.
She set the spare orders aside, only nine this time, so she could put them in a much smaller bag, and started folding the main bag.
Behind you
Boa growled right as she got the warning. She glanced over her shoulder to see the creepy Imperial doctor from the capital standing behind the post, inspecting one of the misplaced orders. He smiled and set the medicine down.
“Miss O'asisk, I am Doctor Hemlock.” He greeted her.
She glanced around for any troopers, it looked like the doctor was here alone.
“Uh… hi? Do you need something?” She asked.
“No, I only wish to speak with you about your work, one doctor to another.” He said.
Freyu narrowed her eyes. Those weren't his true intentions, her instincts said not to trust him, but he wasn't a threat yet.
“Yeah… I don't think we're the same type of doctor…” she pointed out.
He didn't address that and picked up another vile of medicine.
“You make these yourself?” He asked.
“Yes, lots of plants here have some sort of healing properties, I find what conditions and combinations will bring out the most potent effect. It's a lot of chemistry.” She said.
“Did someone teach you?” He questioned.
“My Buir did, it's one of our family trades, and my mother knew some other stuff, and some of it I've figured out myself.” She nodded.
“And I suppose you can use it to make toxins?” He prompted.
“If I answer that, am I going to get arrested?” She asked with a frown.
“Not by me, I'm just curious how someone so young has such a robust understanding of such a complicated subject.” He said easily.
“Okay… yeah… that's believable.” She said sarcastically.
“You're a very cautious person, aren't you, Miss O’asisk.” Hemlock said, eyeing the right side of her face.
She glanced at his gloved hand and smirked.
“I would assume the same about you.” She said.
His face shifted slightly, the corners of his mouth twitched down in an aborted frown.
“So, why are you so interested in what I'm doing?” She asked.
“I'm interested in offering you a position as one of the Empire's researchers.” Hemlock said like it was the most casual thing.
Freyu stared at the human for a solid minute before she could formulate a response.
“Excuse me?!? Why are you- why is the Empire- offering me a job?! Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't seem like the type of person the Empire wants to employ.” She exclaimed with a gesture towards herself.
“You would be hired under my branch of the Empire’s scientific departments. I don't care for the typical hiring policies, I'm much more interested in skill than species.” He explained.
“My department also does work with animals, and you seem to be quite skilled in that area as well.” He said.
“Hmm, how'd you know?” She asked dryly.
He pointedly glanced at Iri perched on her head.
“Just a hunch.”
“Are you doing experiments on animals? I think it's quite obvious that I wouldn't be okay with that.” She pointed out.
“Mostly work with rare, endangered species, preserving and diversifying their genetics to create a healthier population.” He explained.
Now that doesn't seem like something the Empire would do. She thought.
“How familiar with genetics are you?” The doctor asked.
“Enough to get by in my line of work.” She answered, feeling ever more skeptical of this “doctor”.
Iri chirped to her, giving her a silent warning that she needed to get out soon.
“While I do appreciate the offer, I've got a bit too much going on right now and I need to get back home, but I'll think about it.” She told him.
“Very well, the offer will remain until you refuse it.” Hemlock said.
“Thanks…”
He smiled a smile that sent shivers down her spine, turned and left.
She waited for the doctor to be out of sight before quickly finishing her pack up. She mounted Asichi, patting the agitated mare’s neck to sooth her.
“It'll be fine, Asichi. I'm sure it's nothing.” She reassured her.
“Let's just get home.” She suggested.
Asichi whinnied in agreement.
XXX
Freyu knew she was being followed.
She knew since she left Mlikix, accordingly she took a misleading way to get home.
Those idiot bounty hunters were very bad at their jobs.
Asichi neighed again. The mare was growing increasingly agitated as the stalking continued.
They were nearby, all four of them this time.
She stopped Asichi, sitting back in the saddle before lazily glancing over her shoulder at the seemingly empty grass behind her.
“Are you done yet?” She asked.
Iri swooped on them, forcing them to reveal their positions to avoid being attacked by the bird. Asichi turned to face them, bellowing threateningly.
Freyu found it mildly funny that Asichi was much taller than all of them, at the shoulder.
“You are extremely shitty at this.” She commented to the group of hunters.
“Seriously, I'm starting to get pissed off, and while I could just kill you, believe me she would love to,” she patted Asichi's neck, “I don't wanna deal with the bodies or the legal process today.”
She really didn't want to kill someone today, it was way too much paperwork and she would be late getting home if she did. Omega was worried enough as it is.
And when it came to these four, she had a strange feeling in the back of her head telling her not to kill them. It was as annoying as it was vague.
“Legal process?” The shortest and most irritating one echoed.
“Oh yeah, laws here are different for locals than outsiders. See, I'm legally allowed to kill an outsider if they are threatening me, usually you don't need justification, but I have been documenting your behavior in case I need it.” She said.
“As if someone like you could actually kill all four of us.” The big guy laughed.
She shot him a glare. He was the least guarded of all them, probably because he put so much focus on beating everything physically that he never even thought of mental threats.
A perfect target to psych out. She gave his mind a very subtle suggestion of fear as she spoke.
“I am on a horned horse that's taller than all of you, I have several blasters on me, and toxins. I could kill you all multiple times over.”
Freyu couldn't hide her smug grin when the big, fearsome armored hunter stumbled back a few steps out of fear.
“Steady yourself soldier!” Shortie barked.
She took the opportunity to get him with a dart when his back was turned. The hunters instantly went on edge, except Shortie, he was quickly succumbing to the effects of her toxin.
The man was on his knees gasping in seconds.
“What the hell did you do to him?!” The droid shouted.
“Oh relax, it's not a fatal poison,” she glared down at the main, aiming her rifle in his general direction, enough to give the message of not fucking with her, “this time.”
The droid man was clearly the smartest out of all of them, he signaled for his buddies to stand down and protect their fallen member.
“This is your final warning, leave me and my sister alone.” She growled.
Asichi bellowed out her own warning, gnashing her teeth, and they were off.
Freyu made sure to take the most complicated way back home, just in case those hunters really were stupid enough to follow her.
XXX
Omega waited for the security system to confirm it was Freyu entering before she came out of her makeshift hiding spot. Her ori'vod was peering out the window with a pinched expression.
“Freyu?” She called out.
The Pantoran briefly glanced at her, her frown deepening.
“Is something wrong?” Omega asked.
The seed of worry in her stomach growing the longer her ori'vod stayed quiet.
“I had a few strange encounters today.” Freyu muttered.
“Is everything going to be okay?” she asked.
Freyu didn't answer.
“Freyu?”
The Pantoran didn't even look at her.
Her worry turned into panic. Tiny tears stung her eyes.
“Freyu?!” she shouted, voice cracking.
That got her sister to pay attention to her. Her face smoothed out as she calmly faced her.
“Alright Meg'ika, I think it's time for your first escape drill.” she said like it was the most normal thing ever.
“Escape drill? Why do I need an escape drill?!” Omega shouted, stepping away from the door.
“It's a necessity, our family is… well known… by certain groups and sometimes there is trouble. I’ve been practicing this since I was three. It'll be fine.” Freyu explained calmly.
Omega stared at her. She was worried when she came in, something was going on, there was trouble.
“There's something happening, isn't there?” She asked.
“I'd rather be safe than sorry.” Freyu said evenly.
Omega frowned, she didn't answer the question directly.
“What is it?” She insisted.
“Those bounty hunters. They haven't gotten the message yet.” Freyu answered.
They're coming for me.
“Are we going to be okay?” she asked timidly.
Freyu crossed the room, kneeling down to her level, cupping her face in her always warm hands.
“Of course, I'm going to keep you safe. I won't let anything happen to you.” Freyu promised.
Omega held Freyu's hands to her face so she couldn't pull away. I trust her, it'll be okay.
“How does the escape drill work?” She asked.
Her ori'vod gave her a strained grin.
“You're not claustrophobic, are you?”
“What?”
Freyu took her down to the basement where they did their training and Tesi had her main charging station, the droid in question woke up as they entered.
“Tesi, I think we need to clear the premise.” Freyu said to the droid.
“I assume you want a tunnel?” Tesi prompted.
“Yes, forest treehouse, you know the one.” Freyu answered.
Why are they talking so vaguely? Omega wondered.
Tesi scomped in to a hidden port, a patch of the floor shifted away, revealing a hatch that twisted itself open. Peering into it, she saw a ladder on one end of the hole and a sort of strap-in seat on the other. The hole went down deep, but was well light.
“My family has a series of secret passages running from pretty much every building they've ever worked with, the ones in the houses are the most extensive and well taken care of.” Freyu explained.
“Why do you have all these?” Omega asked, shooting her a quizzical glance.
“We’re cautious people, Meg'ika.” Freyu shrugged.
“I'll strap you in, it'll take you down and drop you into the cart, you can also walk through them but it'll take a lot longer and I want you at the safe house as fast as possible.” She instructed.
“Okay…” Omega nodded uncertainly.
Freyu frowned, biting her lip as she thought.
“Tesi, do we still have the star bugs?” She asked.
The droid was busy getting something from a hidden hatch in the far wall. Whatever it was, Omega couldn't fully see it.
“Yes, we've got two left, they should be satisfactory once I reboot them.” Tesi answered.
“The star bugs will help you, just follow their directions.” Freyu said.
“O-okay…” Omega said.
“Good.” Her ori'vod smiled at her, patting her head gently.
“Everything will be alright, I know it will.” She insisted.
Doubt plagued her mind. How could Freyu believe everything would be okay so confidently? There was danger coming for them and she was too calm!
“How do you know that?!” She exclaimed.
“It's just a feeling I have. And I trust that feeling.” Freyu said, brushing her loose hair back.
That doesn't make any sense! Omega thought, a gut feeling couldn't get them very far.
“How can you trust a feeling?” she asked in dismay.
Freyu cupped her face.
“A similar feeling led me to you. So it'll be alright.” she kissed the top of her forehead.
Omega lurched forward, wrapping her arms tight around her sister. She was unable to shake the fear that this was the last time she'd ever see her. Freyu waited a moment then pulled her back and wiped her tears away.
Tesi came up to them, the droid held a strange pair of balls out to Freyu. The Pantoran took them and whispered something in Mando'a or Pantoran.
The little balls came to life, uncurling into cute little bug-like droids. They buzzed around Freyu's head, chittering excitedly in binary.
“This is Omega, she's my sister, I need you to escort her to the tree safe house.” Freyu instructed the pair of droids.
They beeped back at her, fluttering over to land on her head. They were surprisingly fuzzy for droids.
“Her bag.” Tesi handed a backpack to Freyu.
“This has everything you might need in it, a med kit, food, survival equipment, a pair of blaster pistols and enough ammo to reload if you need to. You remember your shooting lesson, right?” she explained.
Omega nodded.
“Excellent.”
Freyu set her down onto the chair, fastening her in securely. She handed her the backpack, Omega saw her Tooka doll tucked into one of the pockets, she held onto the bag like a lifeline.
“Hey, everything is going to be fine.” Freyu assured her.
She didn't believe it, she couldn't let herself believe it, she had a horrible feeling that she would be alone again if she did.
“I won't leave you Omega, we're stuck with each other forever now, remember?” Freyu reminded her.
“Yeah. I remember.” Omega sniffled.
Freyu hugged her one last time, then the machine started taking her down. Omega kept her eyes fixed on the spot of light above her as she descended into the darkness.
Freyu watched her vod'ika until the star bug lights were swallowed by the darkness. She shut the hatch, locked it and locked down all the tunnels except the one Omega was using, just to be safe. She sat back with a heavy sigh. She always had a feeling letting Omega into her home would bring trouble, even before she noticed how fast the little girl healed.
“Do you want me to do a full clear of the premises?” Tesi asked.
“Better to be safe than sorry.” She said.
“You say that so often you should live by it.” Tesi snipped.
“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes.
Her gaze fell on her armor chest. The chest and its extra contents need to be moved, likely to the ship. She needed to put her armor on.
“I'm going to change!” She called to Tesi, receiving a beep of affirmation.
She exchanged the flexible armor plate she always wore to protect her vital organs for a fresh one, then changed her clothes into something appropriate and pulled the top half of her kute on. She got the pants on and made sure the pieces fit together and overlapped correctly.
With practiced speed, she changed into her armor. The feeling of the overlapping plates on her body gave her a slight sense of security.
Buir made this armor, it would protect her.
Now all she has to do was wait for the right moment to strike.
XXX
Chora ignored the insistent nudging on the edge of her senses. The planet was trying to push her towards the one place she was not welcomed.
It had been since she got here.
Honestly it was getting annoying.
Window
Without looking away from her data pad, she opened the window long enough for the fuzzy droid to come buzzing in, swiftly shutting it.
The little bug droid landed on her shoulder, cuddling up to her while buzzing happily.
“Let's see what you got.” Chora said, giving the bug an affectionate pat.
The bug-like droid connected to her data pad, feeding its surveillance into the system. She tapped her leg impatiently as it loaded.
She'd been on the planet for a little over two months at this point, she wasn't really doing her job as a bounty hunter and was more so dealing with the Massii when the Empire didn't want to.
It wasn't what she signed up for but at least she was getting paid.
Still, she was used to being constantly on the move, hunting down targets across the galaxy. She didn't usually stay in one place this long, if she did, it was a vacation or Yaosney forcing her to stay out so she could heal.
She was itching to get moving again.
So she'd sent out her surveillance to check out the one part of the planet she was avoiding like a plague.
Mlikix.
Just to see if there was anything she could do to get things going again. She wanted off this pushy planet.
She absently skimmed through the feed, waiting for something to catch her interest, or for the droid to get curious enough to disregard her orders and go where she said not to.
“Cyare… are you still up?” Yaosney asked, sitting up from their bed to turn on a bedside light.
“Just some late night work, I'll be in bed soon.” Chora promised, turning to her partner.
She blinked sleepily, having only gotten back two hours earlier, collapsing onto bed without getting a shower first. It was a bad habit they shared.
“How about you get a quick shower and change into something clean?” Chora suggested.
Yaosney frowned, tapping her chin in thought.
“Only if you join me.” She said.
Chora rolled her eyes.
“You need to clean that kute, you've been wearing it for days.” Yaosney pointed out.
She had been living and sleeping in her kute and armor for roughly the past two weeks.
“Alright you win, I'll join you.” Chora sighed dramatically, getting up and walking over to her.
Yaosney grinned smugly at her.
“But, I'm going to do the laundry afterwards.” Chora stipulated.
“Fine, but you leave cleaning your armor for the morning.” Yaosney said.
“I think I'd rather do it now.” Chora teased lightly, helping her partner out of bed and into their bathroom.
“Chora! You gotta sleep sometime today!” Yaosney whined, leaning her tired body on her.
“I'm a Pantoran, I don't need nearly as much sleep as you do.” Chora reminded her.
“Bet that sucks.” Yaosney huffed sleepily.
“No, having to be unconscious for a third of the standard day to remain functional sucks, I need half of that.” Chora said as she took off her armor, placing it onto her armor stand so she could clean it tomorrow.
Water hissed as the shower started, glancing back, Yaosney had already stripped the dark body suit she wore on duty and stepped into the shower. Chora changed quickly and got in with her.
Yaosney was busy washing her own body, scrubbing off the day's grit and grime from her skin. Chora lathered up her hands with Yaosney’s preferred shampoo, massaging it into the shorter woman's sweaty, grimy scalp.
“Those helmets do not help your hair.” She muttered as she scrubbed.
“Can't see shit through them either.” Yaosney grumbled in agreement.
Chora turned her girlfriend around, tipping her head back to wash out the shampoo, in turn, Yaosney started washing her body.
“You're so tall, it's not fair.” She pouted.
Chora glanced down at her, grinning.
“Why's it not fair?” She prompted.
“I have to stand on my toes to reach you right.” Yaosney puffed, indignantly looking up at her.
She stopped rinsing her girlfriend's hair, settling her hands on her hips.
“I can always just pick you up.” She suggested, wrapping her arms around her waist and pulling her closer.
“Not in the shower Chora, we'll fall, again!” Yaosney scolded.
Chora chuckled, letting go to finish rinsing her girlfriend's hair.
“You aren't even washing yourself, you're just washing me.” Yaosney grumbled.
“I’d let you, but you need a stool to reach.” She teased.
She was quick to finish washing Yaosney, then did a much faster wash of her own hair, Yaosney was practically asleep standing up. They got out, changed into fresh clothes, and Chora put their dirty clothes into the washing machine while Yaosney (very grumpily) went back to bed.
Her girlfriend was fast asleep by the time she came back to their bed. She kissed her forehead lightly before sitting down at her desk to finish her work.
“What've you got little guy?” She whispered to the little droid.
It buzzed quietly, pleased with what it had found.
“Huh, well whaddya know.” Chora hummed.
It was that group of clones that asshole sniper was obsessed with finding, they were hanging around Mlikix.
That's not good. Chora thought as she went through the images.
Two of the clones were messing with or being threatened by a way too fucking familiar Pantoran.
Ah. Of course. She groaned. This had to be some kind of joke. In the one place she was avoiding, messing with the one person she was avoiding was her way to get the Empire’s ass off this rock and let her get back to her proper work.
She dropped her head into her hands. She could almost hear her brother laughing at the irony, or her misfortune. Probably her misfortune, they weren't on the best terms before he died, he probably thought she deserved this.
He was right. She did. He was always right.
“Fuck me.” She muttered.
She had been trying to get out of here without touching that bomb.
Why are they messing with her? The intrusive little thought wormed its way into her head.
Those clones clearly wanted something, and she didn't look keen on giving it, cause she was a stubborn asshole when she wanted to be.
Nope! Shut it down! Chora scolded herself, she just needed to get off this planet before she had to get involved with her… acquaintance.
She could subcontract someone to give the situation a little nudge. Yeah, that was it.
It had to be someone cheap and inexperienced. She was sending that unfortunate soul into the Mythosaur’s liar, she just needed them to get those clones to reveal themselves, and if her old pal killed them afterwards, no harm done.
She quickly found who she was looking for and sent him the offer, it was more money than he'd ever been offered before so he immediately took it.
She gave her instructions and left the dominoes to fall.
She shut her data pad off, her droid buzzed up, nuzzling her cheek, then settled on it's charging station for the night. She quickly put the laundry into the dryer then climbed into bed with Yaosney.
She laid on her side, looking at her girlfriend's peaceful sleeping face.
Everything is going to be fine. She told herself, closing her eyes to sleep.

A Game Novice's Baldur's Gate Log, 57 1/2 Hours In: Gapfilling and Grinding for XP
Masterpost
(Note: this will definitely contain spoilers for all I've played through, and probably quite of a bit of the later stuff I've also seen.)
I am now nearing the end of Act I. I've even had the poetical idea of finishing it just before I board the plane for San Diego is a little over a week. I suspect I may not manage it, though. It'll depend on not only how much I can get through this week, but also how much I'll eventually decide I want to do.
By the end of last week, I had spotted the Grymforge elevator on the map, and it wasn't long at all into this one before my characters were staring it down. At that point I decided it was time to do a little research, especially into what needed to be done for each character's arc before Act II. Which was when I discovered I'd missed a huge part of Wyll's, back on the Risen Road. I also took a proper look at the XP for the first time, and determined I wanted to collect a bit more of that before leaving the Underdark.
Still, I couldn't figure out how to get to the Adamantine Forge, and I wasn't sure we were ready to deal with its protector. So I ended up consulting a map of the Underdark, and discovered there was a tower we'd missed back when we came in, so I waypointed back there. Looking further around that area, after finally properly looting the mini-Beholder and drow we'd fought, I quickly discovered that since being there, I'd actually gotten a lot better at spotting jump-through and climb-through spots, which was very encouraging.
The Arcane Tower, on the other hand, drove me completely up the wall. Even after I finally looked up how to disable the turrets, I still went a little crazy trying to get Astarion to the back garden without doing him major injury. When it was finally done, I found myself doubting the XP were worth the struggle. But I did enjoy sampling some of the literature we found there. Sara tried to be diplomatic with the constructs when we hit the roof, but she used the wrong quote and we ended up fighting them anyway. Story of her life, I suspect.
The next day I swapped Lae'zel out for Karlach, partly because I wanted to see her reaction to the Myconids, but mostly because I like having her around. We ended up going to the village twice, because the first time I failed to save even as I then went to find the Festering Cove I'd also read about-and accidentally toppled Sara into a chasm. But knowing where it was and reloading at the tower made it a bit easier to go to the Cove directly the second time around. Even after its denizens declared their intent to sacrifice us, I actually did go for the arcana check, just to make it more interesting, but when that failed I went ahead and attacked. This time I remembered to have Shadowheart cast Spirit Guardians immediately.
My goal got accomplished. By the time we'd gotten back to the village and handed Nere's head in for the second time, we were under 1500 XP to go for level six. When I went to Blurg to unload excess loot for the second time, I also decided to tell him about the tadpole and have him bring in Omeluum. I'd already seen one streamer talk with the latter, and had doubts about how Sara would react to meeting a mind-flayer, but I decided that in a strange, spore-hazy atmosphere of the village, she could refrain from attacking immediately. I suspect it is a very good thing, though, that we didn't have Lae'zel with us at that point, especially when Omeluum started talking about the Githyanki rebelling.
I went back and forth, however, about returning to the tower to complete his quest. We'd gotten most of the tower's XP already, and it didn't feel worth the effort. I ultimately had Sara decline to do it, at least for now, though the directions remain in the journal, and I may yet go back and do it after all. I even waypointed back to the Selunite Outpost, before changing my mind again and waypointing again back to the Blighted Village to forge the sussar weapon. There, too, I went reading about how to forge and the options, and took the advice I read to forge a dagger.
I also spotted the passage outside the basement's wall, which I hadn't spotted before, and was pleased to discover I could now easily figure out how to jump into it. Getting the false wall at the end down took slightly longer, but then I finally figured out piercing damage works on those. I reaped the rewards for my advancement by getting to explore the Whispering Depths. Fighting the spiders in them felt much like more grinding, but it was kind of worth it just to hear Karlach tell one of them "Bye bye," before killing it.
Nonetheless, I ended up swapping both her and Astarion out for Gale and Wyll before heading north and tracking down the inn the latter's father had just been kidnapped from. There I had Shadowheart create more water than strictly necessary as we stumbled through the burning building, and ultimately failed to rescue one guy before his half of the upper floor blew up, but at least we got Counselor Florrick out. Upon hearing about the Duke from her, and learning Wyll had been disowned, Sara quickly got very mixed feelings about rescuing him, though so long as Wyll wants to do it she'll try to.
I left off this week right after that, at the opening of the Mountain Pass, still unsure about how much of it I'll do, though I'll have to go to the monastary and creche, at least. Maybe also until we meet Elminster, though I'm currently a little confused on when exactly he's supposed to show up.
I have also since been brought to realize I completely forgot about the Zhentarim in the basement. But I'm pretty sure that Sara retains absolutely no interest in meeting with them anyway.

8 years later...
I'm a nurse, married, and a mom.
Life is fickle. I really wanted to blog some thoughts out and started to research blogging sites when I forgot that I had a tumblr. It is pretty apparent how much I changed. Even now I can detect small wisps of arrogance and pride buried beneath unapologetic passion. I was a dichotomous soul. Always ranting about something that made me angry, judgements on others and then pleading to God for ignorant Holy Spirit solutions. I remember that girl faintly. She was headstrong as well as pigheaded. She loved hard and was relentlessly tunneled visioned about things she was sure about. She feels familiar but very unfamiliar. Not like a scent so strong it triggers a distant memory but maybe like knowing everything about a certain celebrity you were obsessed with as a teenager without actually know them.
Anyways I'm rekindling this old dying form of expression because I need a space jot down things I don't want to forget. Memories that are strong so that I am able to recall them in the right light. Thoughts that I can regurgitate because they really are revealings of the Holy Spirit in my life. Feelings that I'm unable to pilfer through as they stay abstract and convoluted in my head.
So to my long time follower, to my old self, to no one really... I'm 31 years old now. I married that young boy who didn't give me material gifts but gave me eternal treasures. He fathered my beautiful daughter Indie Haven Tay just a short 14 weeks ago. God did call me into phase of worship that I was praying for in all those previous posts. But I really wasn't ready for what God had in store for me. So heres to a beginning.
(I always ended with a prayer to God so..)
God, you are still soo soo good. My view of you is so much more complex and deep. In some ways it seems like I've lost that childlike lens which is sad but in other ways I feel like our relationship is real, solid and built on something other than emotion. Thank you for, just in the right timing (as always), bringing me back to a past that I can honestly enjoy knowing again. I don't want people tainting my memories, even thought they are in them. I want to celebrate the time in my life when they were good, before it turned bad. I want to explore the heart you have refined over these 8 years and learn more about this newest creation in me. Thank you that you are the same. You never left me. You always were for me and here you are again beside me listening. love you.
-Amen

🧠
Time passed quickly since the day you and the doctor finally admitted your feelings for each other. After that you were practically inseparable. You resumed work as his TA, only occasionally getting distracted, but the term was over after a few short weeks anyway. You had agreed to keep everything rather low key, so as not to encourage the wrath of the university. There was no actual rule against graduate students coupling with professors. Nevertheless, the practice was often frowned upon, and you didn’t want Laszlo to get in trouble. If anyone asked, you were just ‘friendly coworkers that sometimes ate meals together after work’. Most didn't pay attention to you anyway since you weren't friends with any underclassmen. Despite the fifteen year age difference you were both on the same page with the seriousness of the relationship. You knew how you felt about each other.
Sara and John found out right away. Because they had expected it to happen anyway there was no reason to hide it from them. The two were beyond happy for you. Whether Laszlo had noticed John slip a twenty dollar bill into Sara’s hand after the admission you’ll never know; at your raised brow John just shrugged and said that it was "about damn time". Bitsy was equally as delighted for you. She wouldn’t admit it, but she was also glad you would be out of the house more often so that she could spend time with her own boyfriend, Lucius.
Now, you are laying on your Laszlo’s bed scrolling through social media. The wintery weather outside his bedroom window gives you a chill despite the warmth of the fireplace he has burning. You were still not over just how nice his place was. It was in a rather upscale part of town and was roughly three times the size of your place. The townhouse style was similar in fashion to his office at the university - full of dark ornate wood and books and even a chandelier in the foyer. When you had asked how he afforded something like this in the heart of the city, he had just said a wealthy great uncle or other had left it in the family. With Laszlo being the only surviving member he inherited it.
Your love was getting himself ready in the bathroom. He had a department meeting to attend on campus in an hour. Tomorrow the new spring term would begin, and you were to resume your post as his TA. An errant thought crosses your mind as you admire the expensive looking painting hung on his wall.
“Laz?”
“Yes, Bärchen?” his response echoes in the large bathroom. You smile at the nickname, little bear. He’d given it to you because he said your presence was like that of a bear, ready to fight to protect herself and those she cared about.
“Are you my sugar daddy?” You can see his reflection in the mirror. He looks scandalized by the implications of your question.
“What would prompt you to ask that?” A blush forms on the apples of his cheeks.
“I mean think about it, I spend time with you - an older, exceedingly handsome, wealthy man - and in return I get orgasms and nice things.” Truth is, you are joking entirely, you know the relationship is conventional. You just like to watch him squirm with teasing like this.
He walks into the bedroom and picks his sweater off the bed next to you. “You're teasing me," he accuses with a grin. "I hardly think it can be considered as that sort of arrangement when you get paid because you are employed to work for me. It is merely happenstance that the other characteristics should parallel themselves to that of a…” he searches for the words, “financial benefactor.” You laugh at his unwillingness to say ‘sugar daddy’. “As for the orgasms…” he smirks and drops a kiss to your head.
He finishes dressing as you bury yourself under the duvet. “What are your plans while I’m detained?”
“I don’t know, figured I would just take it easy today. I need to be well rested for my first day at work tomorrow - I hear some pretty ruthless things about this German doctor I’m going to be working with.” You get off the bed and wrap your arms around Laszlo’s waist. “But I don't know, I think I’ll like the guy.” He leans in to give you a chaste kiss.
Checking his watch he sees that he needs to leave lest he be late for the meeting. “You’re welcome to stay here while I’m gone. It shouldn’t be more than an hour or two at most. Perhaps we will go to Delmonicos for dinner to celebrate the beginning of a new term.”
“Sounds great, daddy,” you wink. Normally you didn’t tease him this much, but you were in a playful mood.
He rolls his eyes. “Remind me why it is that I tolerate you?”
“‘Cause you love me,” you retort with a broad smile.
He brings your hand up, kissing the back of it as he turns to leave. Softly he whispers “Indeed I do.”
_
Laszlo fiddles with the pen in his hand. The upcoming semester was no different than previous ones. He had stopped taking ‘notes’ long ago as the head of the department continued to drone on. Laszlo would admit, the meeting had drawn on longer than anticipated and he had lost focus on the last few minutes. He would rather be at home in your company than here.
“Before we end the meeting I do have one last exciting announcement - many of you have been around long enough to remember, but we are pleased to be welcoming back Dr. Stratton as a visiting professor this semester!” the department head cheered. At the mention of a Dr. Stratton Laszlo perked up.
“Dr. Karen Stratton will be conducting outside research in the city, so I have asked that she grace us with her presence in teaching an elective on her speciality: sexual deviancy. Unfortunately, she is on a flight to the states as we speak, otherwise I know she would be here to greet you all herself.”
Karen was coming to New York?
The thought excited him, as he hadn’t seen her since he moved to the States four years ago. He and Karen had followed each other's work for years before meeting at a symposium in Vienna almost six years prior. The two remained close until he accepted the current position and fell out of touch.
Meeting over, Laszlo sent you a text to be ready for Delmonico’s when he got home. He had much to look forward to this term.

Five Birthdays
summary » five birthdays from the life of lisa petalon.
warnings » light angst in one part
note » LISA'S BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW! But I couldn't wait to post this one-shot lol. Illustrations included!
age 7 » sweet and bitter
“Happy birthday!!”
Lisa blinked slowly as her dad appeared from the kitchen, carrying something on a platter. He was covered with flour, egg stains on his shirt, but he was smiling wider than he had for a while. Her aunt and cousin giggled at the sight, clapping from where they sat next to Lisa at the table.
“What is that?”
“Look at it!” Her father grinned as he set it down in front of her. It was clear that it was some kind of food, maybe a fancy type of bread, but it was covered in some sort of shiny coating. “It’s a cake… a birthday cake! I realized that we never made one for you, so I decided to do it this time. Seven is a big age, after all!”
“A cake…” Lisa’s eyes lit up. “A cake! Wow!” In their little town in the woods, they foraged for most of their food, so Lisa was more used to the gamey taste of turkey, potatoes, and berry juice. Confections like cake were rare.
Her dad chuckled, crouching next to his daughter’s chair and wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “It’s all yours, Lisa. Dig in!”
Lisa nodded, eagerly grabbing her fork and taking a big scoop of cake. It was soft, easy to cut; her father did a great job baking it. But before she tasted it, she paused.
“Wait… where is mom?”
The silence in the moments following the question should have told Lisa everything she needed to know. But she was just 7… she had not yet realized why her mother failed to acknowledge any of her birthdays.
“She… she’s tired.” Her father exchanged a glance with her aunt. Out of everyone here, he was the most weary, but he willed himself to smile again before turning back to look back into his daughter’s eyes; eyes that matched his own.
His daughter was almost his mirror image, with her black eyes, her jagged brown hair, and the power she inevitably would discover one day.
But he smiled anyway. Because she was his pride and joy. She was a miracle.
“But the rest of us are all here to celebrate. So let’s dig in!” He reached down and ruffled her hair.
Lisa grinned, giving him a nod before finally taking the first bite.
“Ah! It’s so sweet!”
Tumblr media
age 19 » anything you want
Lisa jumped a little in surprise as someone tapped her on the shoulder. She was standing by one of the shelves of books in the royal library, a place that she had been frequenting more and more these past few weeks. She turned around towards the feeling, a little perplexed when she saw that she was still alone. Huh? That’s weird, I don’t think I imagined that-
“Over here!”
She turned the other way, her heart skipping a beat when she saw none other than Julius there, leaning against the edge of the shelf, a place that he was definitely not only a moment ago. But Lisa couldn’t bring herself to be annoyed, despite the fright. “Oh, hi.”
“Hi.” Julius smiled, his eyes avoiding hers for a moment before he straightened up to walk over to her side. “I see you’re hard at work again, any discoveries?”
“N...Not yet.” Lisa quickly looked back down at the book in her hand, trying not to seem too nervous. She would have thought that she would be more used to being in his presence, since they had been meeting up here often to sift through records for any information about Lisa’ magic mark. But that wasn’t the case…”There are so many books, we might never find it, even if it’s here.”
“Well, I just finished my work for the day. I can be your helper for the rest of the evening, if you’d like~”
Lisa almost hid her face in her book as her face heated up. Help!!! Why did he say it like that- “Um, actually-” Lisa closed the book with a soft snap. “I was about to head out.”
“Oh.” There was a hint of disappointment in the Wizard King’s voice. “You have plans?”
“Yeah, actually…” Lisa smiled a little. “It’s my birthday! Yami and William wanted to go celebrate tonight.”
“Your birthday?!” Julius’s eyes widened in surprise. “Oh- I had no idea! You should have told me, I would have gotten you a present!”
“P-Present!? No way!” Lisa shook her head, her smile falling. “I-I couldn’t accept a present from you, I mean- It wouldn’t be right for me to expect something, you know-”
“Nonsense! I’m your research assistant, remember!”
Julius winked, and Lisa felt that she was about to pass away right then and there.
“... I guess so… but still!” Lisa scowled playfully. “You don’t need to get me anything… I…”
“I feel happy enough just to be close to you. That’s the only present I need.”
Of course, Lisa couldn’t say something so embarrassing.
“I don’t need presents, really. I’d rather just spend time with my friends and other… people I care about.”
Julius’s eyes softened a bit, a light blush appearing on his cheeks. “Oh… I see.” His smile quickly reappeared. “But still, I insist! How about this- You can take a book in this library home with you. Permanently.”
Lisa’s eyes widened. “Really? But, isn’t that stealing?”
“I’m the Wizard King, and I’m saying it’s ok. Plus, I’ll cover the overdue fees.” He grinned, closing his eyes for a moment. “How does that sound?”
“...alright. Thank you!” Lisa quickly put the book away, biting her lip to keep from smiling too widely. A birthday present from the Wizard King! More importantly… a present from Julius… “There’s so many books here, though… any recommendations…”
“Actually, there’s one I was hoping you would take.” Julius cleared his throat. “One moment. I’ll be right back.”
He quickly turned away and disappeared down a different aisle. A moment later, he reappeared, holding a book with an elaborate leather cover. “Um.. see for yourself.” He held it out for Lisa to take. It was heavy, but the texture of the cover felt nice under her fingers. Her eyes fell on the title, and she let out a soft gasp.
“Origins of Magic: The sources of mana in this world and the Mystery of its usage. By Julius Novachrono…”
“Heh, I wrote that when I was still captain.” Julius chuckled nervously, awaiting her reaction. “I might have to write a second edition, I’ve learned so much since I became Wizard King… maybe you can be my research assistant for that one.”
“This is amazing… I can’t wait to read it!” Lisa grinned, looking back up at his face. “Thank you, Julius.”
It still felt strange to say his name. This man was revered by almost everyone, yet here Lisa was, receiving a present from him. And a very personal present, at that.
“You’re welcome… let me know what you think.” Julius smiled, gazing down at her face.
There’s so much more I want to say to you… Lisa…
When Lisa got home soon after, she had a few minutes before William and Yami wanted to meet up. She collapsed on her bed, face down. After a moment of silence, she let out a long squeal, muffled by her pillow.
Oh god… I need to stop hanging out with him… or I’m going to fall in love for real.
But… maybe that wouldn’t be so bad…
Tumblr media
age 23 » forgotten nights
“Ouch… ouch ouch…”
Lisa rolled over, consciousness finally filtering back into her weary brain. It was strange at first, unfamiliar to Lisa.
Was I… sleeping? How is that possible?
She let out a soft groan.
I haven't slept in 3 years-
Suddenly, pain throbbed in the back on her head, and Lisa let out a cry.
Oh… not sleeping, then... Was I bludgeoned?
"Oh! There, there, don't sit up!"
Hands gently grabbed her shoulders to push her back into the sheets when she tried to raise her head. Lisa winced at the feeling, blinking her eyes open. Her eyesight was foggy, and it took a few moments for the other person's face to come into focus. "Oh… Julius? What on Earth is happening-" She cringed and squeezed her eyes shut again at another pang of agony. "Did I get in a fight?"
Julius sighed, glad that she was awake and recovering. "Sort of… here-" He picked up the glass of water he had been keeping on the bedside table. He carefully held it up to her mouth, and she immediately started sipping away at it. "How do you feel?"
"I'm in pain… tell me, what happened?" Lisa scowled up at him, sensing how hesitant he was to speak further. "What do you mean, I sort of got in a fight?"
"Well… I'm surprised you didn't figure it out already," Julius chuckled nervously. "You… you weren't knocked out. You're hungover…"
All the sudden, everything flooded back.
------
"BEHOLD; THE MIGHTY POWER OF THE WIZARD KING!!!!"
Lisa cackled wickedly, one foot planted on the edge of the bar and the other precariously balanced on her stool. In one hand, she gripped a glass of mead. The other formed a fist, blue fire circling in tandem with time magic. "Anyone who can beat me can take my title! I'll share this power with you!"
There was a roar of approval from the other patrons at the bar. Yami howled with laughter and hit the bar surface with the palm of his hand a few times.
SMACK SMACK SMACK
"That's hilarious!!! What are you gonna do if you lose!!?"
"I won't." Lisa smirked raising her glass back to her lips and chugging it in one go.
"Lisa!! Get down from there-" Fuegoleon tapped her shoe, frowning. He was only a little red in the face, not nearly as drunk as the others. Jack was giggling next to Yami, and Charlotte and William were already asleep at a table in the corner. "You're going to get hurt, and-"
"HEY!" Lisa's foot lashed out, and she wobbled dangerously. "I knew you wanted my job! Come at me, then!"
"What? No!" Fuegoleon stumbled back. "You're acting like my sister!"
"Yeah? Then fight me!"
Lisa stepped forward, ready to attack- however, she was still up on the bar. Her foot didn't land anywhere… and she fell
"LISA!"
Fuegoleon jumped forward, arms outstretched, ready to catch her. However, to his surprise, the elderly bartender rushed in front of him. Lisa fell into his arm, limp as a ragdoll.
"Dear me- I'm glad I was keeping an eye on this one." He chuckled before turning back to Fuegoleon. "Thank you for trying to keep her out of trouble- but I'll get her somewhere safe."
"Oh- okay." Fuegoleon watched the man carry her away, then reappear a few moments later.
-------
"Oh god…"
Lisa buried her head in her hands, her face bright red. "No way… no way I did all that!"
Julius chuckled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer to him. "No harm was done! And you had fun, didn't you?"
Lisa shrugged. "I don't really remember…" her hands fell back into her lap. "It sucks… I used to be able to drink all night and feel fine… but after we formed our Dyad…"
Of course, her alcohol tolerance wasn't the only thing about her body that had changed. She couldn't eat, or sleep, or… worst of all-
"I know. It'll be alright. It just takes some getting used to, right?"
Lisa nodded, and felt his lips press against the side of her head. Her eyes fluttered closed for just a moment.
"Why was I at the bar with all of them, anyway?"
Julius's eyes popped back open in surprise. "Huh? You don't remember?" His lips twitched into a smile. "I suggested the outing in the first place… thought you'd want to have a celebration with your friends."
Lisa blinked. "Celebration?"
She was still confused, until Julius chuckled and gave her a gentle squeeze.
"Happy birthday, Lisa."

age 27.1 » the life of an insect
It stayed hot all the way until September. The sun blazed down into the garden, unhindered by clouds. The bright atmosphere contrasted with the dark shadows that were quickly closing around the Clover Kingdom.
It’s so loud…
Lisa spent most of her time alone, now. Part of her wanted to surround herself with people, with all those she loved. But even then, she knew it would just make herself feel worse. Seeing their faces, watching them talk, and laugh… it just forced her to draw further and further away.
I’m not like you… I never was.
So, she spent her days alone. It would be easier for them if she stayed away. Even if it hurt.
Yet it was still so loud.
Cicadas screamed from every corner of the forest, swarming the treetops by the million. Their song permeated almost every corner of the kingdom, allowing none to escape.
In a way… it was almost nostalgic.
Lisa stood at the base of a tree, pausing her walk for just a moment. Above her was a group of cicadas, circling each other on the bottom of a high branch, no doubt evaluating each other to decide if they wanted to mate or not. Their song was earsplitting, but Lisa was already numb. It didn’t bother her.
In her hometown, out in the woods, the cicadas were a fact of life, appearing every summer without fail. They were like a booming voice, nature’s fury swept across the land.
Yet… they were fragile.
They slept underground for 17 years. Then, for just one day, they rose up to the heavens, singing their glorious song. They soared, they mated, they laid their eggs…
And then they died.
They fell back to earth, their voices and bodies spent. Their last act would be to plant the seeds of their offspring, before the dirt reclaimed them.
Their lives… were fragile.
Utterly and completely meaningless.
Two of the cicadas lost their grip on the tree. They fell down into the leaf litter, letting out one last scream before they went silent forever.
But at one point, they had screamed. And the whole world heard them.
I can’t even do that. How I wish I could just scream… but I can’t.
A moth could not scream. It would never see the sun. They just fluttered through the night, like a ghost. They were swallowed silently by that darkness.
This is my last birthday.
Lisa lowered her gaze, before restarting her lonely stroll.
At the very least… I got to see the sunset first.
Tumblr media
age 27.2 » the future ahead of us
Summer melted into fall at last. The heat evaporated, leaving cool winds to quench the thirsty land.
The winds were gentle; like a nourishing pair of hands. Lisa closed her eyes, sinking into the feeling of those hands touching her. They brought her comfort, and they eased her pain.
They belonged to her.
“Just a few more months…”
Julius whispered the words, so soft that Lisa could barely hear them. But that was okay; they weren’t meant for her.
“I can’t wait to meet you.”
Lisa’s hand moved to run through his hair. Julius let out a happy sigh, his eyes flickering closed. He could hear two heartbeats with the ear pressed against his wife’s stomach, harmonizing with the sweet sound of her breathing. Life thrived there, and life was thriving within him as well. Never before had he felt so much excitement, so much anxiety. It was a rare, beautiful thing; an opportunity that had almost slipped away; like a stunning sunset that you didn’t notice until it was too late.
But it’s not too late.
He pulled back a little, just enough to stare up into Lisa’s eyes.
Because of you… your strength… your sacrifice. Because of you, we have this life. We have a second chance.
I won’t ever let that chance slip away.
“Her birthday is going to be after both of ours… a December baby.” Julius said happily. “A “Joy” to the world, you could say.”
Lisa let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head a little at the pun. “A joy to all of us, for sure.”
She watched as Julius nodded, his expression drowsy, before he lowered his head to listen once again. He couldn’t get enough of the sounds; the sounds of his daughter, and the sounds of his wife.
“She’s a joy… and a gift.”
The world was changing. The future ahead was uncertain. But Fate was alive and well; Julius and Lisa would always be bound to it.
Whatever fate had in store for them, they would be together. And they would have this child, who they had wanted more than anything else on this Earth.
“I love you, Lisa.”
“I love you, Julius.”
It was the happiest birthday Lisa ever had.

Wick modern AU: Explained +Some fun facts
Uhm, i was gonna wait until i finish this AU's synopsis and new book cover, but both will be taking a while until they get ready...
And i wanted to post this "overview" for a while now, anyways, here's some fun facts and a summary of the story:
Old book cover:
Tumblr media
I'm really proud of Sam's shading, but the twins look weird and Tom looks old...I won't use this cover, 'cus Travis and Duncan are main characters as well and i want to include them on the cover. +My art style changed!
Story summary:
Just a quick thing! I changed quite a few things to fit the narrative and the modern days setting, i hope you understand!
The story of this AU happens in September 2014, a little less than a month until Sam’s birthday, where the Weavers aren't dead– Well, most of them aren't...
The narrative is centered on a curse, that was based on the audio that plays when you pick up Benny's bible, where 7 people are affected by it: Tim, Tom, John, Sam, John's brother/Sam's dad(I won't name him), Mary and James.
Sam's, Travis' and Duncan's side of the story will be more on the investigative side maybe with a bit of comedy(I'm not good with writing that, so it will most likely be just investigation), while Tim and Tom's side will be the more angst and unusual/horror side. Sam will have a bit of horror as well, since he's linked with them by the curse, but the twins will definitely have the spotlight when it comes to horror/unusual stuff.
Fun Facts:
General:
The story happens a week, maybe a bit more, after summer break
Even tho one of the first chapters is set on school, them going to school will probably just be mentioned or implied, Example: Them leaving a school bus
For some reason, i saw a few stories where everyone knew what polio is and how it works, which i felt it wouldn't be realistic, so that won't happen here
It has a lot of paranormal stuff
The summer camp by the Weaver's property is closed and has been like that for a few years now
Just Mary and James call the twins Changelings, the rest of the city knows there are "changelings" walking around, just, not that the twins are them
There's no changelings, they think there is, but in reality it's just a curse(like that's something lighter than a demon switched with a child at birth)
The song that helps me get in the mood of this story when I'm writing is "Far too young to die" by Panic! At the disco
Timas Weaver:
Tim is 12, he'll be 13 in...approximately 3 months
He was born December 30th 2001 and is the oldest between him and Tom
He's almost an inch shorter than Tom
He has a huge burn scar! It goes from a bit more than half of his chest, both his arms, his palms and his whole neck, he got that scar when he was 3 years old
He's does not have asthma, but he does have extreme pyrophobia on it's place
He has flat affect, his face doesn't match his emotions/he looks serious most of the time(I'm so sorry if I don't portrait it right! Please give me constructive criticism if I do something wrong here!)
He's a theater kid and would be quoting a lot of musicals if Mary didn't isolate him and Tom from the world(The theater part only exists because of his and Tom's masks)
The whittling thing exists here, but like, it won't be of much importance to the story, the knife will! But not the whittle part
He despises spiders and it's Tom's fault!
He climbs trees (there's not much I can say here to be honest)
He has this...i don't know if you can call it a quirk, but, he tends to tilt his head to the left, it's kinda random
He's ambidextrous, was left handed, but Mary forced him to learn to use his right hand
He teached himself how to throw knifes...don't mess with him
Paranoia!
Needs therapy
Tomathy Weaver:
Tom is 12 and will be 13 in approximately 3 months
He was born December 30th 2001 and is the youngest between him and Tim
He's almost an inch taller than Tim
He doesn't have Polio now, he did when he was...around 5 years old
His left leg is bigger than his right one, his right feet reaches his left ankle
His left ankle is paralyzed, that's why he uses a leg brace
He's claustrophobic, he developed that on the same day Tim got his scar and pyrophobia
He won first place on a spelling bee before he got Polio and he used to spell when he got anxious, but after John's disappearence he started shuddering, shaking and cracking his joints instead, very similar to how he shudders on the game
He loves spiders!
He is really flexible, but, because of his polio, he can't play around with it anymore
He likes to draw
He has pretty bad scoliosis
Paranoia #2!
Socially awkward baby
Went to therapy when little, needs to go back
Caleb Weaver:
Caleb is 9 years old
He was born August 19th 2005
He's almost the same height as Timas
He was a year old when Tom had polio
He's actually James' kid, not John's
He won first place in 2014's(the year the story happens) county track meet
He dislikes Tim
Lillian Weaver:
Lillian is 5 years old
She was born February 28th 2009
She's a bit tall for her age
She's notorious for making little deals between her and her siblings, like helping them get away with something in exchange of something(getting her out of class during their recess, buying a new plushy, etc.)
She's a really curious and affectionate kid, loves hugs, kisses and especially being picked on someone's lap
She loves bunnies(even tho this isn't a surprise)
Benjamin Weaver:
Benjamin is 14 years old and will be 15 in less then a month
He was born October 24th 1999
He's just really tall compared to the twins (it's kinda funny, Tim and Tom are 4 years older than Caleb, but they are just an inch taller than him)
He's really religious and prays a lot for his siblings' health and safety
He's been trying to take care of Tom after John's disappearence, since Mary doesn't do it, much the opposite, she hides Tom's medicines on purpose
Mary Weaver:
I didn't give her neither an age nor a birthday...i probably need to do that
She had an affair with James, when the twins were 4 and Benny was 6, Caleb was born from this affair
She doesn't hit any of her kids, but she does neglect most of them
On the nights between Saturday and Sunday, she doesn't sleep, she spends this time praying with a candle, then, before they go to church, she writes everything that happened that night on her diary
She has a lot of diaries, she keeps them in the attic
She's a little bitch(i don't know what else to say about her)
Pastor James McAlroy:
James also doesn't have an age nor birthday (i only have the Weaver kids and Sam's birthdays)
He won't appear much, but he does have a big role on the story
He's Caleb's biological dad(i mentioned that like 3 times already)
He tried doing a "honest-to-god exorcism" on the twins, it was just a cover for an attempt of murder
He's a toxic little shit(there's not much I can say about him)
Samuel Burton:
Sam is 12 years old and will be 13 in less than a month
He was born in October 2nd 2001
Him and Travis are Brothers on their mom's part
He's cousin with the Weavers, minus Caleb, they just don't know each other
He can be just as smug as Travis sometimes
He absolutely hates going on ghost hunting, he thinks it's dumb
He has long hair and freckles all over his body
He's just too lazy to tie his own shoes
He's the only one that remembers to bring a backpack when ghost hunting
While Travis is the camera man, he's the flashlight guy
Travis Burton:
Travis is 15 years old and i don't have a birthday for him, well, he would be born in 1999 just like Benny
He doesn't like wearing glasses, but doesn't have other choice, he either doesn't take proper care of his lenses and gets his eyes irritated or he just lost them
He's the face of his and Duncan's channel
He tries to drag Sam to be part of the channel, but he doesn't really want to be part of it
He cusses way too much
He's brave, only because he goes face first into danger without thinking
Duncan:
Duncan is 15 and would also be born in 1999

Tetrachromat ||Harry Potter
Pairing: Cedrico Diggory x Reader // Hermione Granger x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: In a world where you can see 100 million different shades, every day means a new discovery. But among so many, you find something completely different in someone
Word Count: 2,6k
N / A:  tetrachromatism or tetracromacia comes from the mixture of two words of Greekorigin,"tetra" means "four" and "Chroma" which means "color". A tetrachromat person has 4 cell cones, instead of 3 which is more common, and this makes him sensitive to a wider color spectrum.
Part II
Tumblr media
I had just come home after a tiring day at work, when I came across a scene that I hadn't seen in a long time. There was a brown owl on the steps of my house, I looked around and then walked over to it, took the letter that was tied to one of its legs, and a few seconds later I saw it flying across the London sky back to Hermione, after all there is no one but her that I know in the Wizarding World. As she was waiting for me there for a long time, I'm sure my parents haven't arrived yet, as they would have let her in.
I left my bag on the sofa and sat down to read it immediately, I hadn't heard from her in over a year and sometimes I feared the worst had happened. The last thing I received was a warning, she had told me that she couldn't get in touch because she had an important mission to do and that when it was over, we could talk again.
“Dear friend,
It has been a week since the war ended, the Wizarding World is turned upside down but we are at peace and rebuilding ourselves now. I'm sending this letter to let you know that I'm going to visit my parents' house in a few days and I would like to see you too. After lunch next Saturday it seems like a good time.
I have more things to tell you than I can put into words, I would also like to ask you a favor, but we can resolve this later.
 With love, Hermione. ”
This visit was only the first of many. We talked as far as she could tell me, some issues were still sensitive and very recent and I obviously respected that, but even without many details, knowing the things that happened was difficult to process and she also respected that.
We started seeing each other more than once a week, my parents managed to help locate Hermione's parents very easily, since our families have been neighbors and close friends for a long time. That was the favor she asked for and I immediately agreed.
Over the course of two months, things were returning to their proper place and I had been officially invited by the brunette to visit their version of London and of course, I accepted. I was looking forward to that day, in the last letter I received, she told me that she would like to introduce Harry and Ronald, her boyfriend, to me. It is strange to think that I had heard everything about them, literally everything that happened at Hogwarts I knew from letters, but that we never actually talked.
On the day that the visit was finally going to happen, I was more nervous than I had imagined. At 9 am, I was just getting ready when I heard a huge noise in the living room and for a few seconds I was scared, until I remembered that the girl warned me that this would happen.
I could hear my parents' voices downstairs and I didn't even have to worry about hurrying, the only thing that caught my attention were the steps on the wooden stairs and then a light knock on the door.
- Come in, Mione - I replied calmly, knowing who I was as I finished putting on my boots.
- It's really impressive how you always guess right - she replied with a smile and came in, sitting next to me.
- It's not very difficult, nobody in this house really knocks on the door before entering, although I keep complaining about it - we both smiled at my comment and I continued - I thought you were going to bring Harry and Ronald - I commented getting up and she immediately laughed , leaving me confused.
- It is weird to hear you saying "Ronald" so formally, it seems that you do not know him- she explained to me and I had to laugh too.
- I think so too, but as I don't know him personally, it doesn't feel right to be informal, I can't explain it, but anyway, I'm ready to go.
We said goodbye to my parents before apparating to a street with several different stores. We walked a lot and it was nice to see how people were happier after all the terror that happened.
Many people stopped to talk to Mione, she tried to disguise it but I noticed perfectly how well it did her, as if the whole sacrifice was worth it because no one would have to suffer or be afraid anymore.
It was only at lunchtime that we met with the others at a restaurant, that I had to insist a lot to go and exchange my money because Hermione wanted to pay, since I was the guest of the day.
Along the way, I noticed how this London is more normal than I imagined it to be, I have to look closely to see the less drastic differences.
- Is it true that you see different colors from everyone ?? - the redhead asked unable to hold himself and I just laughed at Hermione's indignant expression - Ouch! What? It’s not true? - He put his hand behind his head, where he had been slapped by the brunette next to him.
We had come in less than 5 minutes ago, I thought it was going to be a lot more uncomfortable than it really was. Right after the introductions, Ronald asked me that question and I admit that I was a little surprised. I had no idea that Mione talked about me for them.

- It is true, colors work in a different way for me. Around everything there are colors popping out before my eyes - I tried to explain as easily as I could with a smile.
- Around people too ?? Around us now, have colors ?? - his eyes sparkled with excitement when I agreed - what do you see around me ?? - he added with interest in his voice.
- Many shades of red, blue and orange - I said after analyzing him for a few seconds.
- Hey, it reminds me of that book you gave me. The psychology of colors - her smile opened immediately when she remembered.
- Psychology? It couldn't have a better word for a title? Nobody in their right mind would read that - Ron leaned back in his chair and Harry's posture changed, as if he expected what was coming.
- That book has the meaning of each color, I like to think that colors describe people but since you are not interested, I will not say it - the two went from water to wine in a matter of seconds.
- We are interested, how could I not have been told about this before ?? - The brown-eyed boy looked at her as if he had been terribly betrayed.
- We had bigger concerns Ronald, since the first year you two took me into trouble that could have cost our life or our expulsion - she stared at him seriously and not a trace of remorse stamped his face.
- But you don't regret living all these adventures, right? It was fun at least, most of them - he replied leaning over to her with a wide smile.
- Well, some choices could be decided much more sensibly, we weren't that much of a child - she said moving away to the side as the other approached - what are you doing, Ronald? - her cheeks burned a light pink.
- What is the definition of red? - Harry said suddenly, taking my attention from the couple next to me, he looked as comfortable as I did.
- Well, usually strong emotions. Passion, love, anger .. I see it in all of you, but it is not up to me to point out exactly what it means in each case - I said looking at the three since I received attention from the lovebirds.
- And do you have proof of that? Is it really true ?? - He asked me again, even more curious.
- In terms of colors and meanings, yes, but as there are few people with my condition, no researcher has identified the relationship of colors with what is around them. I like to believe it's true, so far it's not wrong and I have tested it several times.
We continued talking animatedly, even after our orders arrived. The topic of colors continued until everyone was satisfied with their definitions and then they decided to tell me some mini adventures that they lived together, which I still didn't know about.
- And after all this episode with the spider, he had the courage to say that they didn't do it wrong, as if my head had almost been eaten by mistake - Ron said with wide eyes while gesturing non-stop.
We all laughed but I lost focus on the conversation as soon as two men stopped by our table, clearly father and son or something, due to the clear age difference. Both had friendly smiles on their faces, but the youngest one caught my attention the most.
I just managed to hear an echo in my head of what the conversation was about, I obviously wasn't looking at him because it would be rude and it's not the kind of thing I would have the courage to do shamelessly.
- We haven't seen each other in a while, Mr. Diggory, oh by the way, this is a friend of mine - Mione nodded at me and I smiled, just before I introduced myself and they did the same.
Cedric, it’s his name. I remained distracted by my own thoughts until a tap on the shoulder woke me up, they were no longer there but I could tell they were at a nearby table.
- Hey, I was talking to you - she said with an expression of indignation and a little bit of concern too - oh, finally back to this planet - she completed it as soon as she got my attention again.
- What were you going to say, Mione? - I felt my face heat up but I tried to hide it as much as possible, the less attention for this moment of mine the better.
The brunette decided to leave the questions for later and I thanked her internally for that. After we finished eating, it was just the two of us again since apparently both of the boys had plans for the rest of the day.
- Did something bother you earlier? You didn't even look at us - I heard her say as we walked out of the restaurant.
- Yes, but you don't have to worry about that, I just needed a few seconds to put my head in place - I hadn't even realized what that could mean until I saw the smile on her face.
- Was just one "hello" enough for your head to get out of place? Not that I'm judging, that's usually how it was at Hogwarts - her tone was a little bit malicious and I instantly slapped your arm.
- It was nothing like that, I had never seen anyone or anything with so many colors before. He had a rainbow of colors, I couldn't even process it properly - I used the lowest tone I could, after all we were still in public.
- Are you sure?? Your vision may have confused him with the whole background -  the rational side spoke first and I shook my head - well, it doesn't seem like a coincidence. Cedric has always been the definition of Hufflepuff, I couldn't think of anyone else who could be a rainbow, literally speaking - her smile returned even more prominent.
As a last stop, we went back to Diagon Alley because apparently the desserts there were the best. I was about to find out if this is true or not, when Hermione told me she was going to get a book, which really isn't a surprise to anyone, so I enjoyed my chocolate cake alone, sitting at one of the round pink tables.
- Hey, I didn't expect to see you here - it definitely wasn't a female voice, so as I looked ahead there he was again.
- I would go anywhere to have such a good cake - we both smiled and I motioned him to sit on the currently empty chair - and what is your reason? I asked with one eyebrow raised.
- I'm working as a house elf today, my dad ordered a huge order here and I came to get it - maybe I had paid more attention than necessary to his smile, but who can judge me?
- I don't want to disturb you, it must be important - I tried to be the most sincere in those words, but most of me wanted his presence for a few more minutes.
- He won't mind waiting longer, I couldn't miss the opportunity to spend a few more minutes with such a beautiful girl - he dared to wink at me.
Before I could answer, the cashier who also owns the place came to our table personally and what she said made me blush hard.
- Hello, your father's order is ready, Mr. Diggory and we also have a special promotion for couples, if you are interested - her smile was loving.
Cedric was as speechless as I was, both overflowing with redness in our face and the lady did not seem to understand the situation at all, she brought another menu with options for couples to our table before leaving us alone again.
- This is not what I expected to happen, but this colorful cake looks really good - I blinked slowly and couldn't resist it, I had to laugh and the confused expression on his face made me laugh even more.
- That was a very HufflePuff way of dealing with the situation and, by the way, you should try it. It suits you after all - I commented before eating my own cake.
- Do you study at Hogwarts too? I mean, studied when it wasn’t destroyed.
- Oh no, I'm not a witch. I know a lot about it ‘cause of Hermione, apparently you're quite popular - again I noticed the pink on his cheeks increase and I must say, it's amusing  to watch.
- Not quite popular for sure, what else you know about me? - He regained his confident posture and raised an eyebrow in my direction.
- Not beyond what I have already implied, but I would love to know more if it’s okay for you.
Where did I get that confidence from? I'm not sure, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity and my attitude seems to have taken him by surprise as much as me. The words disappeared from his mouth as I grinned.
- Is there a problem Cedric? - I was having more fun than I expected this afternoon.
- I should have asked you out, but you were faster - he said so seriously frustrated but my only desire is  just to laugh.
- Oh, do you want to go out with me? I meant to get to know each other as friends - he stopped to analyze me and I tried to be serious but before he apologized, I held his hand - I was just kidding, I would love to go out with you - I winked at him before letting go.
- You are really ... my heart is not going to have a minute of peace from now on, is it?
- I will try to take it easy on you Diggory, but I don't know if I will be able to do it for long.
An hour later I left to look for Hermione with a promise from Cedric, we would meet again next week.

🐷 Hyunsuk
"Should there be that much blood? You're not dying right," the face would actually be kinda cute if he didn't look so disturbed, but you reply anyways.
"Yes and it's the normal amount now will you please just bring me a towel?"
"You know what you seem like you have it all figured out I'll let you do what you have to do and then you just call me when you want cuddles," Hyunsuk is already speed walking out of the room before you have the chance to reply.
God he's an idiot you think.
He loves you but periods just make him to nervous
He will give you all the cuddles in the world
He will NOT buy you pads or tampons no matter how much you ask
He is terrible at dealing with the mood shifts
🐼 Jihoon
"Babe what size do you need?" Jihoon questions over the phone.
"I need Regular and the brand doesn't matter," you respond.
"Are you sure the brand can also be important. I don't want you to feel any discomfort love."
You coo at your boyfriend and reassure him that as long as he picks regular you are fine.
100% would make a midnight run for you
He has a heating pad ready as soon as you mention your period
Buys you chocolate and snacks when you ask
Has ibuprofen or Tylenol for you when the cramps get to much
He says it hurts to see you in pain and wishes he could take all the pain away
🐯 Yoshi
"Do you want a hug or maybe a massage or I don't know...do you want me to leave?" Yoshi questions pacing around the carpet in your room.
"No but can you please stop moving your’re giving me a headache," you say holding you head.
"Okay so I should stay?" He questions sitting down on the bed next to you.
You hum and he pulls you close, tucking your head into his neck while rubbing your head.
Confused yet really wants to help
He isn't sure if he should leave or stay while you have mood swings
Claimed he would be able to help you through your period because of his sister, but he was actually clueless
He instead just cuddles you through all your cramps and headaches
🐨 Junkyu
"Can we get ice cream on the way back," you whine pointing to a nearby Baskin Robbins.
Junkyu pauses and thinks for a moment, "I don't think we have time if we want to make it to the movie."
This doesn't sit well with you and the whiny face turns to one of sadness. You pout and slowly nod, "Okay. To the movies it is then."
Noticing your sudden shift in mood your boyfriend laughs in an attempt to lighten the mood, "Okay, we do have a few minutes to spare."
Doesn't want to but with a little push will do anything for you
He doesn't know much but is willing to learn
Doesn't want to make you upset so he just complies
He isn't a big cuddler but when your on the verge of tears from a strong cramp he turns to butter
🐹 Mashiho
"No, don't cry. I didn't mean to hurt you," Mashi says crouching down to be the same height with the couch.
You hold on the side of your stomach which he accidentally hit while trying to show you a new flip he learned.
"I didn't hit you in the stomach, why are you crying," he whines, voice becoming a little bit high pitched and it's cute.
"I get sore everywhere you fool,"
He looks a bit astonished at the new information, "Really?"
You look at him with a small glare but let up when you can still see the curiosity and remorse in his eyes, "Yes and now I need a pain reliever and a glass of water."
"I'm on it,"
He treats you like a piece of glass
All the information he knows about periods are from dramas and tv so he is really interested in learning
He doesn't want to make you cry or sad so he try to be the perfect boyfriend
When your having a bad cramp he talks in his cute voice and you smile (he considers this an victory)
🦁 Jaehyuk
"Say ahh," Jaehyuk says holding out the spoon ready to feed you a bite of bulgogi.
"You know I can feed myself right," You question back.
He pouts," I am aware, but you're already going through so much. Let me take care of you."
He looks so determined to help out so you end up letting him feed you through the rest of dinner. Even though you got a few stares from the other dinners around you.
"Let me take care you" he takes it to a new level
Anything that he can do for you he does
He makes sure your alarm is set and you're up in the morning
Makes sure you have extra tampons or pads in your purse
He also cares around a pill or two of ibuprofen
He made sure to do his research on periods to make the experience better for you
🤖 Asahi
"We should do something today," your boyfriend suggests.
You glance up from your phone, eyebrow already raised, "You want to go out."
"Sure why not. The sun is about to set and I know you want to go take pictures," Asahi replies. You smile already getting on a pair of slippers.
"To the roof we go!" You shout.
-
"The sky is so pretty look at that cloud," You exclaim, spinning around pointing at the pink and blue sky.
Ashai smiles at you. It's the first time this week he's seen you happy all week.
It's just a normal week for Asahi and you
Your cramps aren't as bad this week but Asahi despite being nervous takes care of you
He does little things that make your life easier. Such as making food for you, washing the dishes, and bringing you a glass of water without you even asking
🦊 Yedam
"We should go to the park today," Yedam says over the phone. He can hear him shuffling with papers in the background, probably some lyrics or homework.
"I can't today. My period decided to attack me this morning. Maybe next weekend." You say.
"Ahh, well we could just stay in then." He suggested.
"No, I'll be fine, enjoy your free weekend and we can plan next weekend."
"Nope, I'm coming over and we are gonna eat Ramen and I'll sing you a song to sleep." He says.
"Okay, let's have a sleepover then."
Drops everything he is doing to be by your side
Sings you to sleep even over the phone if he has to
Sleepovers are a must for your relationship
You both love spending time together and when your cycle starts Yedam just holds you all night
He won't ask you about any of the details of your period but if he has to he'll will make you tea for your cramps
🐰 Doyoung
"Can we make a special stop?" You ask.
Doyoung looks at you confused, "For what?"
"I need to stop and get something you just wait here and I'll be right back."
Doyoung still looks puzzled but then it clicked, "Ah, you mean feminine stuff."
A shy smile makes its way onto your face, but you nod anyways.
"It's okay we can go together." He says, already making his way to the isle.
Is comfortable with periods to an extent
Knows what to do when you have cramps or are out of pads
May have asked his mom for advice but won't admit it
Cooks for you when your hungry
Is just the perfect boyfriend when your not feeling the best
🐏 Haruto
"It hurts. You don't understand it's painful," You groan holding your stomach.
"It can't be that painful come on."
"You know I love you but you're really clueless."
He sits down next to you, head in his hands," Okay, I know nothing about this at all. Tell me what I can do to make you feel better."
"Can you just hold me?" You ask.
"Of course. Anything to make you feel better." Haruto smiles.
"And order me pizza."
"Don't push it."
Doesn't really understand periods
He is willing to learn although he doesn't know anything
Decides to just be a good boyfriend and do whatever you ask
🐺 Jeongwoo
"Okay, I got you a chocolate chip cookie, popcorn, jelly, and orange juice and apple juice because I didn't know which one you would like. Oh and I also picked out a salad because all this sugar isn't good for you." Jeongwoo says placing all the food he picked up from the convenience store on the corner.
Chuckling you reach for the apple juice, "I didn't need all this food. All I asked for was a pack of gum."
"Yes, I know but what if you get hungry then you have more options."
"Awee, that's so cute," You coo standing up to give him a hug, "Thank you for thinking of me." Before you can give him a proper hug through he moves away.
"Sorry I love you but what if you bleed on me or something."
"Omg, really? Please tell me how I could bleed on you from giving you a hug," he opens his mouth about to respond but you put your hand up silencing him, "Don't answer that just make me my popcorn please."
Trying to be there for you
The overall fear takes over him though
Makes up any excuse to not touch you he's too afraid to make something worse
May have googled 'how to help your girlfriend through a period'
the advice didn't help
🐮 Junghwan
"Eww, no please just pick it up," Junghwan cringes pushing the pad away from him with the end of his pencil.
You laugh picking it up, "It's just a pad it won't kill you."
"How do you know that?! Anything could magically grow legs," he debates.
"I can't believe we are having this conversation right now," you say pushing the pad back into your book-bag.
You don't even get to talk about periods with Junghwan
He avoids the topic at all costs
The sight of a pad makes him feel weird
But when your having a bad cramp or just in a bad mood he will bring you a bag of jelly's or sweet bread (it makes you smile)
I hope you enjoyed!

Dead in the water
Me and Dean sat on the edge of the bed like two teenagers in trouble as Sam was pacing the room, trying to think on what he should say. Finally he stops and looks at the both of us with his arms crossed.
"So let me get this straight, you tell her you wanna wait till she's eighteen but then you decide screw it?"
"....Sammy-" Dean begins to say but Sam cuts him off.
"Dean if your gonna be with her then you can't have sex till she's eighteen."
"Your ove- wait...what? So hold on your ok with this?"
"Yeah, I mean it was gonna happen sooner or later. It's hard for you to stay away from a beautiful lady anyways." I blushed at Sam's comment.
"Well that's new." Dean mutters and he grabs a lock of my hair, making me look over at him.
"What?"
"Your hair it's pink and purple."
"So two emotions at once? I'm guessing pink is love....and purple is fear. So your nervous and feeling loved at the same time!" Sam grabs his laptop and begins taking even more notes.
"Aren't you guys afraid if me?....I mean this isn't normal, don't you guys think I'm a monster or something?" I wondered, was I a monster? Is this what happened to me years ago? Is this what dad was talking about, about how he didn't trust John because...something happened to me?
"Well you certainly have powers, but you can't control it besides you don't know what's going on."
"And you haven't killed anyone." Dean adds.
"But why is this happening now? When I was at home none of this was happening....maybe I should call dad..."
"No, we can't risk him finding us, the next time you call him he'll probably be ready....and I don't want you to go..." Dean admits, while scooting closer, I could tell he wanted to kiss me.
"You two get a room! Wait no, don't do that." Sam laughs, "Alright love birds we need to get back to the subject at hand." He starts researching about the case we're working on, Dean was still staring at me. "Dean!" Sam yells, catching his attention. "Day dream later, work now, you need to take Y/n to get a few things."
"Like what?" He asked.
"Tattoo, gun that kind of stuff, if she's gonna be a hunter then she needs to have the supplies."
"W-Wait what tattoo?" I stutter and Dean points to the pentagram on his chest.
"It's so we don't get possessed, don't worry I'll be there with you."
"Ok, and a gun? I mean why not just use the ones we already have in the back of the impala?"
"Cause you need your own, one that you can carry with you at all times." Dean gets up, puts his shirt back on then grabs the keys to baby. "C'mon we'll get you prepared while Sam does his nerdy thing." I chuckle and follow after him, while grabbing his hand to hold it. He didn't even question it, he pulled me in and kissed my lips, making me yearn for more. Sadly the kiss didn't last long, if we stood there any longer Sam probably would've come out. When we got in the car, the whole drive to the tattoo parlor we were jamming out to eye of the tiger. Which I was still humming it while I was sitting in the chair getting the pentagram on my (wherever you decide to put it.)
"That's a pretty good spot." Dean commented, as he sat next to me.
"Thank you." I grinned, he smiled but it slowly faltered over time, making me grab his hand, squeezing it. "You ok?" I asked worriedly.
"...What happened at the motel can't happen again." He didn't even look at me it was like he was ashamed, did he regret what we did?
"Why not?" He didn't answer, I grabbed his chin and made him face me. Sighing he scoots closer as he lowers his voice.
"Your seventeen Y/n...."
"So? We only have (how many months until you birthday.) I'm technically eighteen already."
"One I don't wanna get arrested and two, we met about about three weeks ago. Don't you think we're moving a little to fast?"
"According to Sam you bone a girl on every case, or at least try to, and your saying it's a little to fast?"
"Good point, but....I just want you to be sure this-" He points to himself, as if himself was a problem. "-is what you want."
"....You are what I want, if you weren't I wouldn't have kissed you. Although if you wanna wait....I respect your decision." That made him smile, he leaned over and kissed my forehead.
"Thank you, now I believe your tattoo is done." I looked down at it, it was sexy as hell. After we payed for it, we went on the road again. When we crossed over the bridge I asked Dean if we could stop to see the lake and look at the sunset. Hesitantly he agreed and pulled over, I got out excitedly. The lake was a dark blue mixed in with pink and orange from the sun, it made me sad to think it was gonna be gone soon.
"It's beautiful isn't it?"
"Not as beautiful as you." Dean flirted making me blush as he pulled me closer by the waist. He started to lean in, those rough lips covering my soft ones.
"I thought we couldn't do this again."
"I meant almost having sex, kisses are something we can definitely do." He smirked and leaned back in again, and as his lips brushed against mine his phone rang. Angrily he sighed and answer it, it was probably Sam.
"What? No we're not!" The look on his face made me giggle as he looked over at me. He started moving his hand, pretending it was Sam who talks to much. "We'll be there in twenty minutes Sam, we still gotta get a gun. Sam, Sammy we're fine....alright we'll be there as soon as we can. Mhm ok bye."
"He's certainly a talker huh?"
"It's a nightmare on how much he can talk...now where were we? Oh yeah I remember." He pulled me back to his side. "Might as well steal as many kisses I can get before we head back to the kiss police." He smirked and smashed his lips against mine once more as his arms wrapped around me. This time it wasn't just a normal kiss, I fought for dominance, my tongue asking for entry. Biting his lip he pulled back, "Y/n keep doing that and I just might say screw it again.." As he said that he slipped from my grasp. "No I promised myself I can wait...c'mon let's get back to Sam." Sighing in disappointment I got back in the car, I guess he's really serious about this.
~~
"I found something." Sam says as we sit next to him. "So there's the three drowning victims this year."
"Any before that?" I wondered.
"Uh, yeah." Sam has a browser window open to The Lake Manitoc Tribune. "DROWNING TAINTS ICE FISHING FESTIVAL." It says, he clicks, and another browser window comes up, again The Tribune: 12-YEAR-OLD Girl DROWNS IN LAKE, Second drowning in 6 months at Lake Manitoc. "Damn, so six more spread out over the past thirty-five years. Those bodies were never recovered either. If there is something out there, it's picking up its pace."
"So, what, we got a lake monster on a binge?" Dean jokes as he grabs a beer, he hands the both of us one.
"Dean no." Sam tries to take it away from me.
"Aww c'mon Sammy one beer won't hurt." Dean winks at me, both of the boys stare at me as I take a sip without any reaction. "See what'd I say? She's fine."
"So this whole lake monster theory." I try getting them back on track. "It, it just bugs me."
"Why?" Sam looks at me in confusion.
"Loch Ness, Lake Champlain, there are literally hundreds of eyewitness accounts, but here, almost nothing." Sam looks at the Tribune homepage once more.
"Whatever it is out there, no one's living to talk about it." Sam states as he scrolls to the comments section of an article, I point to one.
"Wait, Barr, Christopher Barr. Where have I heard that name before?" I remember that name, I thought, it's so familiar. Sam reads from the page.
"Christopher Barr, the victim in May." Sam clicks a link, opening a new page. "LOCAL Man IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT." The picture loads and it shows a police officer with Lucas. "Christopher Barr was Andrea's husband, Lucas's father. Apparently he took Lucas out swimming. Lucas was on a floating wooden platform when Chris drowned. Two hours before the kid got rescued." Sam clicks the picture for a better look, then scratches his head. "Maybe we have an eyewitness after all."
"That kid must be so freaked out. Watching one of your parents die isn't something you just get over....." I felt bad, but so far Lucas is our only lead, hopefully he'll help us. We headed to the park planning to talk to Lucas who was our only witness. Kids are laughing and playing as Andrea sits on a bench and watches her kid. Who is at another bench coloring and playing with toy soldiers.
"Can we join you?" Sam asks and Andrea looks up.
"I'm here with my son." She says as I spot Lucas and so does Dean.
"Oh. Mind if we say hi?" Dean asks, and he lightly grabs my arm signaling for me to come with.
"Why are you bringing me with you?"
"Cause of he doesn't talk, then hopefully you can convince him." We approach Lucas, who's drawing a picture.
"How's it going?" Dean kneels down next to the bench where Lucas is coloring, when Lucas doesn't even look up, Dean picks up one of the toy soldiers.
"Oh, I used to love these things." Dean imitates guns and explosions, I chuckle as he tosses the toy soldier down.
"I think crayons is more his thing Dean. That's cool, besides I like to draw myself, including painting." I noticed that he has a pile of drawings on the bench. Dean takes a look, the top one is of a big black swirl, the second one is of a red bicycle.
"Hey, these are pretty good. You mind if we sit and draw with you for a while?" Dean asks, he picks up a crayon. "I'm not so bad myself."
"Oh really?" I ask.
"Yea I'm a pretty good artist."
"Mhm...we'll see." I grab a crayon and a piece of paper, and start drawing. "Can you draw a bird?"
"Oh so this is a competition? Your on."
Dean sits on the bench, picks up a pad of paper, and starts drawing. "You know, I'm thinking you can hear me, you just don't want to talk. I don't know exactly what happened to your dad, but I know it was something real bad. I think I know how you feel. When I was your age, I saw something." Dean says to Lucas. "You don't think anyone will listen to you, or believe you. I want you to know that I will. You don't even have to say anything. You could draw me a picture about what you saw that day, with your dad, on the lake...hm?" I say, Dean sighs. "Okay, no problem. This is for you." Dean holds out to Lucas the picture he drew, it's stick figures. "This is my family." Dean points at each person in turn. "That's my dad. That's my mom. That's my geek brother, and that's me, then a little birdy in the sky-" Dean stops talking as he sees my drawing, which was a lot more detailed than his.
"I thought you could draw Dean." I giggle.
"All right, so I'm a sucky artist...." Dean waits for any sign from Lucas, hoping he would chime in but nothing. "Well see you around, Lucas." Dean heads back to Sam and Andrea, I smile, he seems really good with kids, I thought.
"Here." I place my drawing next to Lucas. "You can keep it...just know of you need anything, I'm here." Him still not responding, I make my way to the others.
"Lucas hasn't said a word, not even to me. Not since his dad's accident." I hear Andrea say.
"Yeah, we heard. Sorry." Dean says softly.
"What are the Doctors saying?" I ask.
"That it's a kind of post-traumatic stress." She explains.
"That can't be easy. For either of you." Sam intervenes.
"We moved in with my dad. He helps out a lot. It's just...when I think about what Lucas went through, what he saw..."
"Kids are strong. You'd be surprised what they can deal with." Dean smiles and looks over at me, making me roll my eyes.
"You know, he used to have such life. He was hard to keep up with, to tell you the truth. Now he just sits there. Drawing those pictures, playing with those army men. I just wish-" Andrea goes silent as Lucas walks up, carrying a picture.
"Hey sweetie, you ok?" I kneel and smile, he hands me the picture. "Thank you..." It's a picture of the Carlton house....
~
Me and Dean are inside the motel room, I'm sitting at the table and Dean is sitting on a bed. Sam went to the library to get some books so we were alone.
"Y/n? Here." Dean suddenly speaks, he pats the seat next to him. I slowly walk over and sit next to him.
"You ok?"
"Yeah...About earlier, on the bridge...."
"Dean..."
"It's not that I don't want to I do trust me I do...."
"Don't apologize, it's ok I understand..." He glances over at me, his eyes showed a little bit of lust. We both started to lean, this feels wrong, I thought, but yet so right. We've only known each other for a few weeks, yet I wanted him more as his lips brushed against mine. Our lips connect, making me scoot closer but Dean pulls back again.
"We can't..." Yet he kisses me again muttering over and over one more. I slipped onto his lap, straddling him while pulling closer. Before we could possibly go any farther Sam opens the door and comes in as we quickly seperate.
"So, I think it's safe to say we can rule out Nessie." He says, unaware of what was going on.
"What do you mean?" I questioned, Sam sits across from me and Dean.
"I just drove past the Carlton house. There was an ambulance there. Will Carlton is dead."
"He drowned?" Dean asks.
"Yep. In the sink."
"What the hell? So you're right, this isn't a creature. We're dealing with something else."
"Yeah, but what?"
"I don't know. Water wraith, maybe? Some kind of demon? I mean, something that controls water...water that comes from the same source."
"The lake, that's the source." I chime in. "Which would explain why it's upping the body count. The lake is draining. It'll be dry in a few months so whatever this thing is, it's running out of time."
"And if it can get through the pipes, it can get to anyone, almost anywhere." Sam says as Dean stands up.
"This is gonna happen again soon. And we do know one other thing for sure. We know this has got something to do with Bill Carlton."
"Yeah, it took both his kids." Dean growls.
"I've been asking around. Lucas's dad, Chris, is Bill Carlton's godson."
"Let's go pay Mr. Carlton a visit."
~
We left to go to the Carlton house a s spotted Bill sitting on the bench on the dock. Sam speaks "Mr. Carlton?" He looks up, wondering who we are
"We'd like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind."
"We're from the, the Department-" Bill cuts Dean off.
"I don't care who you're with. I've answered enough questions today."
"Your son said he saw something in that lake. What about you? You ever see anything out there? Mr. Carlton, Sophie's drowning and Will's death-we think there might be a connection to you or your family." I explain.
"My children are gone. It's...it's worse than dying. Go away. Please." Realizing we weren't gonna get any where we decide to head back to the car.
"What do you guys think?" Sam ask.
"I think the poor guy's been through hell. I also think he's not telling us something." Dean guesses, Sam leans on the Impala.
"So now what?" I ask, Dean goes still "What is it?"
"Huh...." Dean is looking at the Carlton house. "Maybe Bill's not the only one who knows something. Y/n do you have the picture Lucas gave to you?" I nod and pull it out, the picture Lucas brought him, which is of the Carlton house.
~
"I'm sorry, but I don't think it's a good idea." Andrea says, we decided to give Lucas another visit hoping he'd talk to us.
"We just need to talk to him. Just for a few minutes." I plead.
"He won't say anything. What good's it gonna do?"
"Andrea, we think more people might get hurt. We think something's happening out there." Sam explained.
"My husband, the others, they just drowned. That's all."
"If that's what you really believe, then we'll go. But if you think there's even a possibility that something else could be going on here, please let me talk to your son." Dean looks at her, hoping she'll say yes. Silently she agrees leads us into Lucas room with Sam and Andrea behind us, he's coloring, toy soldiers standing around him. We enter and Dean crouches down by Lucas. "Hey, Lucas. You remember us?" I notice Lucas has drawn two more pictures of a red bicycle. "You know, I, uh, I wanted to thank you for that last drawing. But the thing is, we need your help again." Lucas is drawing a person in water. Dean opens the house picture and puts it down in front of Lucas.
"How did you know to draw this? Did you know something bad was gonna happen? Maybe you could nod yes or no for me." He ignores Dean and keeps coloring. I slowly walk over and sit down in front of him. "You're scared. It's okay. I understand." Dean told him. "See, when I was your age, I saw something real bad happen to my mom...I was scared, too. I didn't feel like talking, just like you. But see, my mom-I know she wants me to be brave. Cause she taught me to be brave. And I do my best to be brave. And maybe, your dad wants you to be brave too...its ok if you don't want to, but I really need your help." Lucas drops his crayon and looks up at Dean then at me. He hands me a picture of a white church, a yellow house, and a boy with a blue baseball cap and red bicycle in front of a wooden fence.
"Thanks, Lucas." I smile, which he returns making me fill with happiness. After we left Andrea's house the three of us are standing infront of the Impala, Sam examining the church picture.
"Andrea said the kid never drew like that till his dad died." Dean speaks.
"There are cases-going through a traumatic experience could make people more sensitive to premonitions, psychic tendencies." Sam groans.
"It's all part of the process." I chime in. "Whatever's out there, what if Lucas is tapping into it somehow?"
"You mean magically?" Dean asked, confused.
"Yeah, I mean he might be connected but he doesn't even know...but what does the church have to do with this?"
"I don't know, but the only problem is there's about a thousand yellow two-stories in this county alone." Sam looks at the picture. "See this church? I bet there's less than a thousand of those around here."
"Oh, college boy thinks he's so smart." Dean comments.
"Well what about the church we passed by when we drove into town?" I wondered  which the boys thought it wouldn't hurt. So we drove to the white church shaped like the one in Lucas's picture. There's a yellow house next to the church and a wooden fence near the house. When we got to the door, I knocked and a woman answered. We told her we were FBI, at first she was hesitant but eventually let's us in.
"Im sorry to mother you ma'am, but does a little boy live here, by chance? He might wear a blue ball cap, has a red bicycle." I ask.
"No Ms, Not for a very long time. Peter's been gone for thirty-five years now." She sighs, and I notice a picture of Peter on the side table. "The police never-I never had any idea what happened. He just disappeared." Sam points out to Dean a number of toy soldiers on a table. Just like the ones at Luca's house, I thought, so I was right. "Losing him-you know, it's...it's worse than dying." She explained, however I felt someone staring at me, it was Dean. When we make eye contact he looks away, cheeks burning.
"Did he disappear from here? I mean, from this house?" Dean asks.
"He was supposed to ride his bike straight home after school, and he never showed up." Sweeny answers, I start to walk around and pick a picture off the mirror. There are two boys in the picture, one Peter with a bicycle. I read the back of the picture, the words made my eyes go wide. "Peter Sweeney and Billy Carlton, nineteen seventy." I mutter, after the visit with Mrs. Sweeny, we decide to go talk to Bill again. "Mr. Carlton?" Sam calls out as we walk up to the house, we hear an engine roar. We run around the house to see Bill going out on the lake in his boat. "Hey, check it out." Dean says, pointimg towards the lake. We start to run to the end of the dock, yelling. "Mr. Carlton! You need to come back! Come out of the water! Turn the boat around!"
He ignores us and keeps going, the boat was to far out, all I could see was the water rising up, making Bill's boat flip over.
~~
After the accident me, Sam, Dean, and Jake walk in the door of the police station. Andrea looks over, "Sam, Y/n, Dean." She stands up, putting the bag and a container on her chair. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"So now you're on a first-name basis." Jake says. "What are you doing here?"
"I brought you dinner."
"I'm sorry, sweetheart, I don't really have the time."
"I heard about Bill Carlton. Is it true? Is something going on with the lake?"
"Right now we don't know what the truth is. But I think it might be better if you and Lucas went on home." Lucas looks up and whines, looking stricken. He jumps up and grabs my arm, pulling and tugging.
"Lucas, hey, what is it?" I kneel down, it was like he was trying to get a message to me but couldn't form the words. "Lucas?"
"Lucas." Andrea calls.
"Lucas, it's okay. It's okay. Hey, Lucas, it's okay. It's okay." I say and was about to comfort him when Andrea pulls him away from me and leads him outside. He doesn't look away from me however. Jake throws down his jacket and goes into his office. The three of us follow behind. "Okay, just so I'm clear, you see...something attack Bill's boat, sending Bill-who is a very good swimmer, by the way-into the drink, and you never see him again?" Jake summarizes, Dean glances at me.
"Yeah, that about sums it up." Dean mutters.
"And I'm supposed to believe this, even though I've already sonar-swept that entire lake? And what you're describing is impossible? And you're not really Wildlife Service." Dean looks surprised. "That's right, I checked. Department's never heard of you three."
"See, now, we can explain that."
"Enough. Please. The only reason you're breathing free air is one of Bill's neighbors saw him steering out that boat just before you did. So, we have a couple of options here. I can arrest you for impersonating government officials and hold you as material witnesses to Bill Carlton's disappearance. Or, we can chalk this all up to a bad day, you get into your car, you put this town in your rearview mirror, and you don't ever darken my doorstep again."
"Door number two sounds good." Sam says but I was about to protest.
"That's the one I'd pick." After that we left, packed our stuff an left. I was pissed, there is something happening here and we're just gonna leave? The three of us are in the Impala, waiting at a traffic light. A sign says I-43 North to Milwaukee is to the left. The light turns green, but the Impala doesn't move, after a few seconds Dean turns right.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Thats what I'm wondering to. Dean, this job, I think it's over." Sam tells him.
"I'm not so sure." Dean says.
"If Bill murdered Peter Sweeney and Peter's spirit got its revenge, case closed. The spirit should be at rest."
"All right, so what if we take off and this thing isn't done? You know, what if we've missed something? What if more people get hurt?"
"Deans gotta point, I don't think this is over either." I agree.
"But why would you think that?" Sam questioned.
"Because Lucas was really scared."
"That's what this is about?" Sam groans.
"I just don't want to leave this town until I know the kid's okay." Dean agrees.
"Who are you? And what have you done with my brother?" Sam chuckles and Dean glances at Sam.
"Shut up."
~~
We arrived back at the Barr's and stood out there for at least a good five minutes.
"Are you sure about this? It's pretty late." Sam asks us, Dean rings the doorbell. At that moment, Lucas opens the door, desperately afraid.
"Lucas? Lucas!" I yell but he takes off. We follow him to the hallway, water is pouring out from under the bathroom door and down the stairs. Lucas starts pounding on the bathroom door again. Dean pushes him over to Sam and I kick in the door. Lucas grabs Dean and me, so Sam runs into the bathroom and sticks his arms in the tub, trying to pull Andrea out. She is pulled back under, and Sam is struggling, so I run over and help him out. The force is strong but not strong enough, we keep pulling until Andrea is all the way out. As soon as she's out she starts coughing up water, later Andrea is sitting in the living room, dry and wearing comfortable clothing.
"Can you tell me?" Sam asks, who is sitting next to me.
"No." She answers. Dean and I were looking through notebooks on bookshelves, to see if anything that is happening would relate to the situation.
"It doesn't make any sense." She starts crying. "I'm going crazy." She puts her face in her hands.
"No, you're not. Tell me what happened. Everything." Sam pleads.
"I heard...I thought I heard...there was this voice."
"What did it say?"
"It said...it said 'come play with me'. What's happening?" Dean pulls out a scrapbook that says "Jake - 12 years old" and opens it, flipping pages. He closes it again, nudges me and we go over to Sam. He puts the book down in front of Andrea, open to a picture of Explorer Troop 37. "Do you recognize the kids in these pictures?"
"What? Um, no. I mean, except that's my dad right there. He must have been about twelve in these pictures." She moves her finger over to another picture of Jake as a child, he is standing next to Peter. Dean looks at Sam, then me.
"Chris Barr's drowning. The connection wasn't to Bill Carlton. It must have been to the Sheriff."
"Bill and the Sheriff-they were both involved with Peter." I muttered
"What about Chris? My dad-what are you talking about?" She asks, I look over to Lucas. "Lucas?" I call, he is staring out the window.
"Lucas, what is it?" Dean asks, Lucas opens the door and walks outside. We all follow him, he look determined.
"Lucas, honey?" Andrea calls as he stops and looks at the ground, then at Dean. "You and Lucas get back to the house and stay there, okay?" Dean says and Andrea pulls Lucas back to the house. Dean and Sam presumably fetch shovels from the Impala, before they start digging. After five minutes later I hold out my hand.
"Here Sam, I'll take over, why don't you go inside?" He nods and heads inside after handing me the shovel, so now it's just me and Dean. It was silent for a little while, until I spoke. "So, we gonna talk about it?" Dean glances at me.
"About what?"
"...The kiss, that Sam sort of ruined." He laughs.
"Well uh...what is there to talk about?" He stops, making me stop as I walk over to him, lightly placing my hand on his. "Dean I...Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why kiss me? I mean do you...love me? Or is this just a fling." He goes silent for a second, but speaks.
"I don't know what I feel...however when I'm with you I'm happy..." I smile, I make him happy, I thought. "Y/n...I know your seventeen, but I want to be with you. So will you be my girlfriend?" Quickly I nod which makes a flower bloom on his features. He slams his lips against mine. He drops the shovel and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me closer. Sam clears his throat while laughing silently and we pull away, both of our cheeks red. "Am I interrupting?" I chuckle and we go back to digging as awkwardness fills the air. My shovel clanks against something, and me and Dean dig with our hands, pulling out a red bicycle.
"Peter's bike." I whisper.
"Who are you?" Jake growls from behind us, pointing a gun.
"Put the gun down, Jake." I tell him.
"How did you know that was there?"
"What happened? You and Bill killed Peter, drowned him in the lake and then buried the bike? You can't bury the truth, Jake. Nothing stays buried."
"I don't know what the hell your talking about."
"You and Bill killed Peter Sweeney thirty-five years ago. That's what the hell I'm talking about." Just then Andrea runs up yelling. "Dad!"
"And now you got one seriously pissed-off spirit." Dean mentions.
"It's gonna take Andrea, Lucas, everyone you love. It's gonna drown them. And it's gonna drag their bodies God knows where, so you can feel the same pain Peter's mom felt. And then, after that, it's gonna take you, and it's not gonna stop until it does." I tell Jake, he scoffs.
"Yeah, and how do you know that?"
"Because that's exactly what it did to Bill Carlton." Sam explains.
"Listen to yourselves, all of you. You're insane."
"I don't really give a rat's ass what you think of us. But if we're gonna bring down this spirit, we need to find the remains, salt them, and burn them into dust. Now tell me you buried Peter somewhere. Tell me you didn't just let him go in the lake." Dean begs.
"Dad, is any of this true?" Andrea asks, voice shaking.
"No. Don't listen to them. They're liars and they're dangerous."
"Something tried to drown me. Chris died on that lake. Dad, look at me." Jake does. "Tell me you-you didn't kill anyone." He looks away in shame. "Oh my God."
"Billy and I were at the lake. Peter was the smallest one. We always bullied him, but this time, it got rough. We were holding his head under the water. We didn't mean to. But we held him under too long and he drowned. We let the body go, and it sank." Jake tells us and Dean glances at Sam. "Oh, Andrea, we were kids. We were so scared. It was a mistake. But, Andrea, to say that I have anything to do with these drownings, with Chris, because of some ghost? It's not rational."
"All right, listen to me, all of you. We need to get you away from this lake, as far as we can, right now." Dean warns, but Andrea turns her head and spots Lucas going down to the lake, she gasps. We turn to what she's looking at, "Lucas!" I yell and I run up to the dock. Lucas is leaning over the side, reaching for a toy soldier in the water. "Lucas!" Dean yells.
"Lucas! Baby, stay where you are" Andrea yells. A hand comes up and pulls Lucas into the water. The adults have reached the edge of the lake. Jake stops as Peter's head is visible, Jake recognizes him. We keep running to the end of the dock.
"Oh my God!" Andrea yells. She takes off her jacket to jump in.
"Andrea, stay there!" I say and I jump in, I could hear Andrea trying to get to Lucas.
"We'll get him! Just stay on the dock!" Sam pleads. I could see Lucas at the bottom and I swim down there to get him. He was being dragged down, I swim faster, what I didn't understand is Lucas was let go and started floating upwards. Did the ghost just let him go? That doesn't matter, I grab Lucas and swim back to the surface. I emerge while holding Lucas, who isn't moving.
~
The three of us walk out of the motel, Dean opens his car door and Sam tosses a duffel in.
"Look, we're not gonna save everybody." Sam says, he was referring to Jake who died to save Lucas.
"I know." Dean sighs.
"Sam, Dean." Andrea walks up with Lucas. "Hey." Me and Dean say at the same time. "We're glad we caught you. We just, um, we made you lunch for the road." Lucas is carrying a tray of sandwiches.
"Lucas insisted on making the sandwiches himself."
"Can I give it to them now?" Lucas excitedly asks.
"Of course." Andrea smiles and kisses his head.
"Come on, Lucas, let's load this into the car." Dean says.
"How you holding up?" I ask Andrea.
"It's just gonna take a long time to sort through everything, you know?" I sigh. "Andrea, I'm sorry, if I knew-" She silences me and shakes her head.
"You saved my son. I can't ask for more than that. Dad loved me. He loved Lucas. No matter what he did, I just have to hold on to that." I smile as Dean walks up to me with Lucas.
"All right, if you're gonna be talking now, this is a very important phrase, so I want you to repeat it one more time."
"Zeppelin rules!" Lucas laughs.
"That's right. Up high." Dean holds his hand up for a high-five. Lucas obliges, grinning.
"You take care of your mom, okay?"
"All right." The both of them leave, Dean smiles and gives me a peck on the lips, then goes around the car.
"Sam, move your ass. We're gonna run out of daylight before we hit the road."
"Yeah yeah ok." Sam chuckled as we all got in, continuing with our adventure.

Imagine (Son of Hades! Percy; Godswapped! Big Three's kids) (7/8) or (12/13)
Blood of Olympus pt. 1 - The Aftermath
Hello! So there I go dividing more stuff - oh well, what did you expect? Before reading, make sure to check the masterpost - there's a lot before this.
Before anything, I want to apologize. A reader brought to my attention that I had not put on trigger warnings - a mistake that I corrected as soon as I could. I apologize if I accidentally triggered anyone. I'm sorry, I won't do that again. Check the masterpost for the warnings before proceeding and tell me if I forgot any. So, anyway. Good reading, enjoy!! :))
They're traveling to Athens. It's slower because the winds don't cooperate - but they have some time. They have to be there by August 30th, so ten days.
It's good, Annabeth thinks. It gives her time. Time to plan, to strategize. To hope a part of her best friend, the only remnant of her teenage years that is not dead or off serving the gods, is not still in the Pit.
She keeps herself occupied - between maps, research, and daily messages from Reyna and Malcolm, Annabeth has not a lot of time to ponder.
But when she does - and she does anyway, because Annabeth is a solver. Is what she does, she solves problems - but she has no idea how to fix her best friend.
Percy - Perseus, really, because this is him in full combat mode - has been awake for exactly a day and a half. Literally.
He doesn't sleep - mostly, he just patrols. It doesn't seem to affect him much. At least he is eating. Oh yes, the eating - he eats like the food is going to be taken from him at any second, and as much as he can.
She can't help but be scared - he has the same scar, at the same place. If Annabeth is a little affected by it, how is he dealing with the remainder of the son of Hermes?
Annabeth knows rationally that she can't blame him for not talking to anyone, for acting differently. But it hurts, that he won't confide in any of them, in her - not about what happened down there.
It's been a day and a half. He was in the Pit for more or less twenty days - and time in the Underworld is different. What if he was stuck there for years in his perspective? What did he see there?
These are questions that, unfortunately, only Perseus could answer. And he is deflecting. Well, at least he looks closer to crashing when they trade places at patrol - Annabeth will wait until he is ready, but she really hopes is soon.
Sometimes, when she is alone, she wishes none of this ever happened. If they were in power, maybe this wouldn't happen - it's not hubris, right? To see that they would be better than the gods?
The daughter of Athena is not alone in worrying. Most of the crew share different levels of concern - mostly prominent in Will, who saw all of Percy's scars and is torn between wanting to know how he got them, and never asking for fear of the answer.
Leo is surprised to notice that he is also very worried about the health aspect. He is not a person that generally focuses on humans - but this is different. He saw prosthetics before - Hephaestus cabin does a lot of them - and this kind of amputation? Very traumatic. People took a lot of time to adapt - Jake amputated his foot eight months ago and he is still having phantom limb pain and disassociating from it.
Okay that Perseus' new leg is a marvel of engineering that Leo's hands are itching to dismantle to see how it works - alas, Daedalus never left the blueprints of his fake body in Annabeth's laptop, he asked - but how did he deal with it in the middle of a wasteland?
Everything came full circle when the boy in question finally crashes - Nico is the first one to wake up with the screams. They aren't shrieks, nor words, just sheer screams of pure horror.
When he is out of his door, sword at hand, all the other cabins are opening too - Jason is the last to come down, being in the deck in patrol.
Perseus' door is cold. There's no other name for it - there's an aura of pure death around it, covering the entire hallway in a dreadful mood. It curls around Nico's spine - he can feel the shiver in his bones.
The one who opens it is Hazel, the one who seems least affected by the cold - it's so easy to forget that she was dead once. Perseus is immobile in the bed, his mouth open in the awful scream.
Before Will can stop him, Nico goes to wake Perseus up. He has no idea how to deal with the situation, but he cannot keep hearing this. Piper tries to hold his arm to stop him, but she is still sleep ridden.
The son of Zeus barely touches the other demigod - his fingers barely skimming Perseus' arm - and he is pinned to the wall, an ax he didn't even seem prepared to slash at him, with a tiger growling behind Perseus.
Nico suddenly feels like his true age. His whole body tires and sags, and he feels the drawn in his bones - it's only a few seconds, but it feels like an eternity. He wants to drop down - to rest and let his slumber carry his soul away.
He closes his eyes - expecting either the slash of the blade or the tiredness to take him away - but neither happens.
"STOP"
It's Piper. It works - more or less. Perseus doesn't immediately drop everything - the light just seems to return to his eyes. They are black still, but the vines of green are back, creeping towards his pupils.
"Oh. Oh shit. Shit shit shit. Nico. I... I... I'm s-sorry... Oh gods I'm so, so, so s-sorry I-... I didn't... I didn't t-think... I-... this, this wasn't s-su-su... supposed to happen! This wasn't supposed t-to c-come with me!"
Perseus worked himself into a frenzy. He is in a corner of his room now, his ax left behind, but the tiger firmly in front of his master. None of the others have noticed Nico's strength leaving him. The son of Zeus half thinks he imagined it.
"No... no. No. No, no, no. No touching. No touching. No. No touching."
Perseus is almost trembling, but he is not crying. Nico realizes that he saw Perseus cry only once - when Luke was spread on the floor of the Olympus, Annabeth's dagger buried to the hilt in his tight. He wonders if the hero ever cried for himself.
The son of Zeus - and most of their friends that took a step forward - put their hands up, take a step back. Perseus seems calmer.
They don't talk about it. Nico suspects something happened - he felt so tired. He felt eighty - his body decaying around him. But nobody mentioned it - and when they left Percy alone, it was like it was just a nightmare.
PTSD, Will called it. Anxiety after days of being hunted through hell - the trauma still fixed on his mind, the idea of being in danger every second of every day. Depending on the outcome of this war, they might all have it by the end of it, if they don't already.
But Nico knows there's more to it. He would pass it up as a figment of his imagination if Perseus touched anyone. But he doesn't - he avoids even looking at people for too long.
He tries to bring up the topic with Annabeth - the gloves, the sweaters back. She thinks that it's comfort, something to tether him into reality.
Nico doesn't believe that - he doesn't think she does either. He had his own struggles with anxiety for years, but he has no time for pushing. After that night, Perseus doesn't scream again - one has to wonder if he is even sleeping at all.
Nico wants to help. For once, correct something that he knows it's his mistake no matter how many times they deny it. It's how he finds himself in the third night hovering in Perseus' door.
This is not really a smart idea - because the other demigod notices and opens it, so tired - there are bags under his eyes, but the ax is held precariously in his hand.
"What is it, Nico?"
The correct answer would be "Sorry, didn't mean to bother you." But Nico's dumbass teenager mind stutters.
"I... I wanted to check on you. Are you okay? I... I just noticed that you seem kinda weird."
Percy is not angry or resentful - he doesn't even slam the door in his face as Nico would probably do. He is just tired, and that's a thousand times worse.
"Why... why do you care?"
"We are friends, aren't we?"
"Yeah, sure. Kind of." The "you never bothered before" goes unsaid.
It stings, but it's not a lie. Their past is turbulent - a lot of misunderstandings and mistakes on Nico's side, a lot of grudges and overreacting on Percy's. Still, they fought in a war together. They're still fighting.
"I care about you" He hopes Percy doesn't see the blatant subtext "Something happened - don't... d-don't shut me out. I did that when Bianca... died. Nothing good came out of that."
Perseus takes a deep breath - he looks exhausted to the bone. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to mention Bianca. One of his hands tremble - Nico sees that no parts of his body touch the mechanical leg, ever.
"Something happened. I fell down into hell." He must see the flinch Nico gives, and breaths out "Sorry. That was harsh. It... it wasn't your fault. It's nobody's fault."
Something in his eyes tells Nico that he does blame someone - not him, but maybe Arachne. Or the gods. Or Annabeth. Or worse, himself.
Well, that couldn't stand.
"I know" He doesn't, but that's not the moment "But you need help. I can help."
Nico makes a move to touch Perseus' arm - it's a bad idea because his whole body flinches away.
"I don't. I don't want your help."
It's uncalled for, and it hurts on Nico's pride - of course, he wouldn't need Nico's help. What did Nico ever do to him? Was his touch so unwelcomed? Well, if he thinks he can do it alone, Nico should leave him to it.
"Sure, suit yourself. I won't bother again."
Perseus sighs again when the sixteen-year-old leaves. He doesn't want to hurt Nico - gods know that he should, dammit his weak spot for cute people that would drive a knife through his back - but they should leave him alone. He is fine. He'll be fine.
Hazel is also worried - mainly for the backlash of the coming back to the natural, living world. For her, it was weeks of adaptation - to air, breathing, the sun. And Perseus was in a worse place even.
Sometimes she wonders if the Tartarus shouldn't have been her weight to carry - if the Underworld shouldn't be her place. Hazel loves the surface - Nico, Leo, and Frank, and warmth - but there's a part of her that will forever be under a sad tree in the Fields of Asphodel.
Perseus is nothing but kind - he saved her. He saved all of them - not only from danger - but from themselves. And she is too chicken to help, after listening to her brother whine about his own experience.
Her only comfort comes when she is able to cuddle with Leo - Leo, her Leo, her soon-to-be Leo. While Frank is older and her crush for him never diminished, her own for Leo only grew.
That's why, when her patrol is ending on the fourth morning and Leo emerges from the belly of the ship, covered in grease and clutching an ash-covered wrench, talking under his breath about a thing or another, she goes khaki wacky and plants one on him.
Leo flays a little - Hazel is from the 40s. She thinks maybe this is being too forward - even if in Nova Roma, this isn't uncommon behavior. Girls are able to kiss boys - it's not being a sharecrop anymore.
The boy takes a deep breath - like he can't believe this small closed mouth smooch is happening and gives her a grin.
"Hi sugar, are you rationed?"
She laughs until her belly hurts, and they smooch again - no tongue, no open mouth. Leo blushes horribly - and it's easy to see under the grease.
When this war ends, it'll be she. And Leo. And Frank. Their lives are too short to spend pining and pondering - she sees her brother every day, and that's not what she wants.
After the war, there will be no wars. There will be no quests and no killing - just peace. Heroes get to have peace - like the original Jason. The gods are not ruining this for Hazel anymore. So she walks Leo to the front of the ship, so they can watch the sunrise together.
In the afternoon of their fourth day, they fight against a mixed group of monsters - and that's the day Piper actively begins to see the changes on Perseus.
She likes him a lot - he is an amazing friend - but he has no mercy. He annihilates two-thirds of the obstacle Gaea sent for them. It's a sight to see - because he is not close to the ground. There are no skeletons, no vines, no metal, no shadow under the sun of the middle of the day.
It's just him, his ax, and a skeleton tiger. Perseus doesn't even do it cleanly - there are blood, ichor, and dust smeared all across the floor and through his clothes. He twirls the blade around, and they don't even see him as he chops up monsters left and right.
Some try to flee - he doesn't let them. Something keeps them in the ship - and Piper would bet is Perseus, for he just keeps slaughtering them. She doesn't feel bad for them - this is war. They would kill the demigods, exactly like he is doing.
Piper is... curious. She wonders if he would rip the gods apart too - if they would bleed as much as some monsters, of if they would just turn into dust. If Perseus needs to cut them in pieces and scatter them on the Pit himself.
She isn't the only one - she sees the reluctant lust in Nico's and Jason's eyes, the sheer possibilities blooming in Annabeth's eyes. She sees fear mix with interest - Piper sees everything.
She doesn't think Perseus is well, or better. He isn't telling them shit for some reason after all. You don't go to hell and get on with life. Piper doesn't trust him to not turn on them - she knows him for about a month and a half now, a third of which he was in hell - but if he is going to destroy someone, is probably Gaea. Or the gods - she isn't bothered either way.
They are all dangerous. Reality-changing, world-ending dangerous. A skilled warrior? That doesn't scare Piper. Not anymore. Not in the middle of a war.
"Huh. Can you teach me?"
Perseus gives her a feral smile. Across his cheek, there's a streak of gold - for a second, Piper wonders if he is not a god himself.
Annabeth wonders if the gods will let them survive after the war. They got too powerful, too much. Sometimes, she looks at their eyes and sees they're more god then men. Their powers accumulate - evolve. Better.
Before, she was a sharp mind. Now Annabeth feels her godly blood spurning her further and further - no longer just mind, but the body. She sees attacks before they come - she is a goddess.
And she likes it. The power coursing through her veins - the ability to control. She then swears to herself they'll be that way - forever.
The following day, they stop by an island - Perseus feels a big gathering of ghosts. It's Odysseus' palace. They go in a group to investigate: Perseus himself, Hazel for her mist, Annabeth and Will. Nico would go - but he hasn't talked to Perseus for two days now, and is mostly sulking.
Annabeth - who is as cunning as Odysseus himself once was - asks Hazel to cloak her as a beggar. She asks around - but all suitors give vague answers. Even her wordplay cannot get a single phrase out of the ghosts.
Until Perseus puts her hands on a ghost - Eurymachus is his name - and the ghost is possessed - it tells them anything. Annabeth is clocking information from it - devouring with an avid look. Her grey eyes gleam in the blueish light of the spirits.
For Will, is almost otherworldly. It's Hades and Athena. It's more - it's Perseus Jackson and Annabeth Chase, controlling and pushing something they never did before.
They trade looks, and their glowing hands stay entwined long after the ghost tells them that Apollo no longer controls Delphi and that Nike is lost - running free.
Victory, Perseus thinks, Victory. A goddess so vain, that she thought the tides of war depend only on her - not on Tyche, or Bia, Enyo, and Ares. So many gods of war - so many superiors - and she thought herself capable of defying them - and the demigods. For a charioteer, Nike is quite a proud little goddess, isn't she?
So they have their next goal - finding the elusive arrogant dickhead - and following travel to Athens. With Victory on their side or not.
With the glowing phantom, their disguise is blown. Perseus himself was never proficient with ghosts - but he is very proficient with his Ax, and that cut spirits very well.
They fight - but Perseus is just so tired. He just wants them all to go away. With his powers fully restored, even if the earth doesn't obey him anymore, increasingly possessed by Gaea, the shadows should.
He is fond of his shadows - they are a comforting presence, so different from the corrupted ones of Tartarus. He revels in them - Perseus is their master. As he is master of the green ghostly fire, that seems to burn the spirits away.
He hopes sincerely that they don't even get the pleasure of the Fields of Punishment. He hopes they disappear forever in the void - Perseus has no time for petty enemies anymore in this long war which has absolutely nothing to do with them.
Will is hurt in the side - a gladius - but doesn't stay like that. As they climb back to the ship, his wound closes under the fiery light of the morning sun across his fingers - magic that was supposed to help only others, and never himself.
His father disappears, and Will is getting more power. He is not the only one - Perseus fear they'll become too much like their parents, that their powers will amplify their faults and take their humanity away - but is he even human anymore?
He looks at his "leg". It's not him - he is a cyborg. There's a dead piece of metal in him. Perseus could feel the vitality around him - their sheer youth, blazing like a light to burn all the empires. He could take it all for himself. He could kill them all, grind them to dust - they wouldn't even have time to fight him.
Perseus could take it all for himself - become immortal, a parasite latching unto others - how does that make him human? How is he any better than a flea?
They decide on a group to go to Olympia after lunch - Percy, Leo, Hazel, Nico. Four is a good number - a solid number, made of people who are non-competitive. The ones who loathe themselves - isn't this fun? Maybe they'll debate who is the worst.
They divide when they get to the island - Leo and Hazel go one way, the Nico and Percy go the other - Leo is the one to engineer it, but Percy wholeheartedly approves - it's tiring to coexist with a passive-aggressive Nico. He is done with this situation.
While the couple walks, Nico and Percy stand in awkward silence, side by side. Eventually, Percy sighs - he doesn't want to cave, but they have bigger problems to work on, and he kinda misses Nico's sarcasm.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For being harsh with you."
"No, you aren't."
"I am!"
"Will you let me help you? Will you let anyone help you?"
"I don't need help. I'm better."
"Then let me touch your hand."
"Go on."
"With no gloves."
"What? Why? No!"
"See? You aren't better!"
"We're in the middle of a war. I was in Tartarus a week ago."
"Promise me then. Promise me that after the war, you'll get help."
"Nico..."
"Promise me Percy. And don't... don't break this one."
It's the lowest of low blows, but Percy's acquiesces. They start talking - stiltedly. Percy still doesn't touch him. Then Nico sprouts something he'll later regret (or maybe not): Calypso is again locked up.
Nico sees now - before, when Perseus was mad, the earth trembled. With no earth to answer to him, the shadows curled around his ankles and his covered fingertips - rounding behind his ear and on the curve of his smirk.
The son of Zeus is not a fearful person - but that doesn't make him afraid. It makes him remember why he is so infatuated with Perseus - he is not only a hero - he is more. He is a rebel and a challenge - Perseus only follows his own rules. It's a bravery Nico lacks, and one that attracts him like a moth to a fire.
Perseus just asks him to repeat, and then hums when he does, stuttering over his stupid blush. It's mercy that the demigod is not looking in his direction.
"Fret not, Nico. Let Calypso enjoy her vacation. The beaches are really pretty this time of the year."
It's scary - there's no one in Percy's voice. It's like the demigod is on the brick of a really bad meltdown - but they both know they don't have time for it now. So Perseus breathes in - once, twice.
Calypso will be free, and he is not even using his winning wish for it - he already used one once. She did nothing wrong, they are the oathbreakers. Perseus should know better than to trust any oath in a river that they never put a finger on.
So he lies back on the rock. If they survive - when, because he didn't go to hell to die because of Tartarus' less impressive sister - she'll be free. And well prized for this stunt.
Leo and Hazel get back accompanied by Tempest, who, again, appears always following some big revelation - maybe the venti also serves Hazel's new mistress.
The group heads towards the ruins which are roughly twenty kilometers wide. They decide to walk through them, looking for something to pop up - the earth doesn't answer to Perseus, but that doesn't mean that he can't feel the power on it. Eventually, they head toward the Temple of Zeus where an old Nike statue used to stand.
Leo provokes the goddess to come forth by hurling insults at the Nike brand - it's his specialty, sassing up gods. Perseus is more of a shade kind of guy if he can say so himself.
The goddess' Roman and Greek side, Nike and Victoria, are at war with each other trying to decide which side will be victorious. It's ridiculous.
The goddess challenges the four to a fight to the death, with the Romans and Greeks against each other. But there are no Romans and Greeks here. Nico and Perseus lived on both sides - and even if Hazel is Roman-inclined and Leo didn't have time to meet Nova Roma, it doesn't change anything. They wouldn't fight each other.
The time to fight is long gone - they should be rallying against Gaea. But Nike is too proud to admit to a tie - to both sides of herself to have peace.
She demands them to fight in an arena and gives them four minutes to be present. To make sure that they get there she sends four metal statues after them. But instead of fighting each other, they will fight the goddess.
Nike can try and influence their minds - but in the end, with her so weak, battling against herself, it's no match for four strong-willed demigods. Perseus is so tired of gods with petty struggles in the middle of something so much bigger.
The goddess-es fight for him and Nico - what side should they be. They trade verbal blows - Senatus, Praetor, Titan War are all used as arguments.
Funny isn't it? She wasn't on his side a month ago. Perseus fell - into the depths of the abysm - and while he won - again, and again, and again - it wasn't truly a divine victory.
It was not her victory. The merit is his, only his. She didn't sweep down in her great golden wings to save him, did her? Nor will she help with a war to save herself and her family. So why should she exist at all? Why should Perseus abstain from draining her and...
Perseus clenches his fists - he can't, he won't kill Victory. That's not him. He is not a murderer. That's just the remnants of the Pit in his good-for-nothing mind.
She is horrible - but if she dies, she'll end up in Tartarus. And not even her colossal hubris deserves that.
So, they subdue her - her powers aren't enough to stop the four of them, not when Percy alone and twelve defeated her superior - Ares himself. And, when defeated, Nike concedes her blessing for the upcoming war - they just won Victory.
It's a good omen - but she does advise them that one of them shall die - and that they would need the Physician's Cure.
When they go back to the board, Annabeth and Will start researching - both of them know the name, but can't link it to anything else. They find it in the Infirmary Archives - some that Will brought for light reading. It's not very hopeful, since none of them are brewers, but Hazel is a magic user and Will is a healer - they can do this.
Daedalus laptop holds the answers to the formula: Pylosian Mint, Makhai, and the Curse of Delos. They would also need Asclepius himself - but seeing that he was condemned to Tartarus and probably still there, it's more probable they'll do this themselves.
Frank, Jason, and Annabeth go to the port of Pylos looking for the poison - obvious options for the small mission nearby water.
They walk for a while. Annabeth notices a weird tension between Frank and Jason - Frank is giving Jason pointed looks, while Jason gives Frank worried ones - that has been that way for a few days now.
She couldn't possibly know that was about not only Jason's obvious crush on Perseus - which Frank is pushing the blonde to act on - but about Frank's own feelings.
Yesterday morning, while Frank was coming to take his shift on the patrol, he saw Hazel and Leo kissing. And the worst part is that he is not only sad but longing.
He is not jealous. He wants that - he wants all. Is too much and he doesn't deserve it - Frank feels so small, compared to the demigods he is traveling with. And with such... disgusting desires. The son of Mars only feels guilty - he has to erase this from his mind.
Eventually, Annabeth helps Frank to force an old soldier ghost to give them answers - she tells them they need to go to Nestor's Cave and gives them the directions.
Frank goes in and talks to a man who hands him a bottle. The son of Mars explains that his cousins, other descendants of Pluto, have been living there for generations.
They dinner together - Jason is not very welcomed. Most people there still remember the last war - and aren't all that fond of the progeny of Poseidon and Zeus - but as they are close to the sea, at least they're civil.
Some of them recount fondly about their own days at Nova Roma - they are all clear-sighted mortals, even if the godly blood is too diluted in their veins, but these are the ones that have it closer - great-grandkids of minor gods attracted to the old blood.
There's even a daughter of a minor river deity - and a pair of twins that are direct descendants of Juventa, in her travels to visit Hercules. It's an overall paradise, in the middle of a war.
Annabeth misses her dad. And Thalia. And Luke. She misses having a family - she wonders if this war will turn her unrecognizable - or else if it already did. If they are too godly for the mortal world - if they shouldn't take their rightful place.
As a parting gift, the cousins gave Frank the small vile of poison - it's the Pylosian Mint, the first piece to their puzzle. Before leaving, they tell the trio about a chained god, in Sparta.
They go back to the ship - in the mess hall, Frank muses that the chained god might be Ares because the Spartans believed that if they chained him up the spirit of war would never leave them.
Hazel disagrees - she thinks it might be Aphrodite Areia - Sparta was the first place where the goddess was worshiped, and if the Romans have aspects, wouldn't the greeks too? It's quickly shot down - Dyonisus said they were reborn - their aspects changing with their cult, if they weren't worshipped at the same time.
Perseus thinks he heard once that Aphrodite Ourania, Aphrodite Areia, and Aphrodite Pandemos were worshipped at the same time - but doesn't mention it. It doesn't seem important - he might be wrong.
Piper herself argues that it might be one of their sons - Anteros, Himeros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Pothos, or Eros - for which Jason, Nico, and Frank flinch - they wouldn't want to meet the divine couple's offspring again.
Other possibilities are the Erotes - which seems to make Piper happy, for one of them is Hermaphroditus theyself - or one of Ares or Aphrodite other children - too many to list here.
Anyway, they set course to Sparta - for the happiness of Annabeth and the general tiredness of the group. It is like an RPG play - Nico muses - they have a ton of mini-quests. It's tiring, and it's boring - flicking like bees after something or other for a bigger purpose that never seems to come.
They go to sleep, and Piper has a vision: it's her, Annabeth, and Hazel, running through the ruins of a temple - the temple of Phobos, her half brother. There's blood on the blonde's forehead - and Piper looks like she did before.
She doesn't want to go there. It's fear - she understands it - but that's one fear she is not keen on facing. Her old short hair, the boy clothes, the adam's apple, the stubble.
But they need this - someone might die. Someone will need this. So damn her half-brother. Her mother promised her, that when this ends she'll be herself like she always wanted.
So she goes and tells the group - no one is really happy to send them to somewhere they might get hurt - especially because the last time Annabeth went on a mission on the Underground, shit happened - but the daughter of Athena starts to list all of their mistakes and they have no real say in what the girls do, so off they go, into Sparta.
The six boys stay behind - but no one is slacking. Will ropes Frank into helping to research for anything they might have on the Physician's Cure; Leo finally convinces Perseus to have a look at his leg - even if just to see how much time before Perseus has to go to the Phlegethon to get more fuel; and Nico and Jason are stuck in patrol together.
Which is no good - they haven't really talked since the Cupid episode, and the last few days, the worry about Perseus and the small missions clouded everyone's personal turmoils. But now that the son of Hades is somehow adapting, they have time.
And time is a dangerous thing. Before the two weren't alone in the ship - there was always one on the mission, one otherwise occupied. Leo - and probably Frank and Piper - have been running interference.
Jason had no courage to approach Perseus, as Nico did. Nico knows that - it's in the way that Perseus treats Jason, just like he does Frank - pretending that the Pit never happened.
It's impossible to do this with Leo, who looks at his leg and his medical history and see far more than the others. Or Annabeth, Will, and Hazel, who he is closer to. Or Piper, who just seems to know everything. And Nico, who confronted him face to face.
Jason, however, only knows him one-sided - Perseus doesn't know him. They are friends, and before all this happened, they seemed to spend more and more time together. But they aren't close - the camaraderie didn't have enough time to develop into the trust.
That's why is so weird - he knows what the blonde is going through - the wish to be closer, to be able to at least help in any indirect way, but unable to gleam more about the situation. The information didn't come so easy in real life as it does in dreams.
They don't talk anymore, him and Jason. They just sit in silence or walk around their rounds in opposite directions. Eventually, the son of the sea god can't help it.
"How is he?"
Nico has the urge to answer "Wouldn't you like to know?", but that's petty and unnecessary. Jason isn't a bad person. It's just too easy to love Perseus sometimes.
"Better, I think. After the war, he'll be."
It's more for their sake than the truth. They try to talk again, stilted and trivial. Nico feels awkward - he misses their natural friendship. It won't stop because of a mutual crush - but they need to work for it.
So he settles for this trying. It's bad, and it's mostly both of them skirting around topics, their upbringings making it difficult - both have the emotional development of teaspoons. But they're trying, and it's okay.
Meanwhile, the girls are descending the Temple of Phobos, which is under a blazing hill. Hazel goes in front - manipulating the mist to stop the fire and looking for traps - and Piper and Annabeth follow the hike, talking quietly to fulfill the silence.
"What are you hoping to do, after this?"
"I don't know. Spend time with my dad. Fight for trans rights. Learn how to use more weapons. You?"
"I want to reshape the world - to build something. Maybe a city for the greeks. Maybe go into politics - Nova Roma looked directly out of my dreams."
"I do like politics - I'm more on the activist side, though."
"I was all for the Nobel Woman Initiative last year - there were two of my half-sisters there. You know, I did think it would be cool for schools to take this more seriously - I did my freshman year the same school as Percy, and like, barely any girls at the honor roll - even though most PA classes were brimming with them."
"I'm guessing traditional boarding school - I went to a lot of those, y'know. I was finishing my sophomore year before this mess, taking three AP classes. Stretched out like hell."
"I was taking five - because crazy over-achievers Perseus and Rachel took four, and I couldn't decide on the options. I was overworking for a while, but I did manage better than them - I think Rachel was high every time we visited her on the St. Claire's Academy, but maybe it was just the sheer amount of coffee and Redbull."
They keep on talking. It's the first time Annabeth talks to the daughter of Aphrodite and doesn't think she is an airhead. Piper is a conversationalist - exactly the type of friend she lacks, someone that can keep up with her streams of random thoughts.
Maybe they could have a girl's night with Rachel when they go back to camp. Maybe invite Hazel, and even Reyna too - Annabeth has never had one of those, stereotypical girly things. But maybe it could be cool.
It serves as a good distraction - the longer they stay on the temple, the worse it gets. Annabeth feels crawling in her skin and a sucking - a sucking that she remembers coming from the Pit, taking her in like if she was trash.
Hazel feels cold - her skin flickers. Some moments, she can't touch anymore. It's like being dead again - the rustle of the leaves in the trees of the Asphodel Fields ring in her ears as she walks through the marble halls.
For Piper, it's her nightmare vision all over again. It's like she never came out, never took the estrogen. There are mirrors everywhere she looks - there's no escaping the image that she hates the most - Piper, the boy.
It's not that "Piper, the boy" is ugly. He is just not her - that's not her body, that's not her face, that's not her. Her gender dysphoria is rising high in the back of her mind.
They keep going into the temple anyway - it's not easy to find the "chained god". They find instead Mimas - the giant supposed to kill Hephaestus, and, apparently, Ares - now that his stupid brother Damasen is dead.
Annabeth can't connect the dots yet, but the way the giant talks about Damasen helping an enemy - in the end, it all ties up to Perseus. What doesn't, these days? She is just so frustrated about the lack of information - and her new powers of extracting stuff won't work on a giant, she's pretty sure.
The titan is the opposite of Hephaestus - where the man is silent and intelligent, he is brute force and loud voices. He remembers them of Ares - Hazel even notices that he shares features with Mars Ultor.
To fight a god meant to fight intelligence, they must be emotional - Aphrodite would be excellent for this quest. But Hazel herself takes the lead - her magic is not mind-based - while Piper follows her routine of never being where is expected of her.
But none of the three are in their best shape - fear, the mental manipulation, drains more of them than the actual physical effort. Hazel is able to drive her broadsword across the god's shoulder - but the backlash of him shaking her off throws her towards the wall.
Annabeth - the strongest of the two remainings, physically at least - hoist the younger girl over her shoulders and starts to run. Around here, there's a faint grey-ish light - her mother's blessing shining through her skin.
He nearly strikes the vulnerable Annabeth with her extra weight, managing to hit her in the thigh. Piper, however, is quicker - love always is - and stabs him in the calf.
"You think that would hurt me? Silly little thing, just like your mother - I fought against two gods in the last war - you are nothing, little gallus puella!"
Piper doesn't get Latin, but she knows enough to think that's a trans-related insult. This is not her first rodeo - not even in her old boy's body - but it stills fill her with rage she cannot name.
"You should be more worried about how the makhai will castrate you, instead of caring about what's inside my shorts!"
The giant laughs - but there are doubts in his voice. The makhai hasn't been seen in centuries - but it all connects. It's not Ares or his children - it's the spirits of war that the Spartans thought to be pieces of Ares himself.
Piper takes advantage of his distraction and charges at him with her blade, causing the giant to stumble backward into a wall and destabilize the temple.
"You're worst than that godling that was manipulating my weak, useless brothers - that one lost a leg. I wonder how many limbs I can chop off you before offering you to Mother Gaea."
That is enough to incite Annabeth's rage. She puts Hazel carefully on the floor and attacks He barely managed to deflect her attack, and as he reaches out to grab the prone girl in the ground, Piper slices off Mimas' arm and hair off.
While Piper is keeping Mimas occupied, Annabeth released the makhai from the statue of Ares. The makhai follow the girls - they couldn't forget the smell of Aphrodite Areia and Pallas Athena, not even in a thousand years. They swarm Mimas, and as he staggers off-balance, both of them deliver the final blow by stabbing the giant in his gut.
Mimas topples face-first into the nearest doorway and disintegrated into ash when the stone face of Phobos falls onto him.
The god appears only to deliver the final blow, but doesn't help at all. He just laughs at their predicament and leaves them to find their way off this maze of terrors.
It trembles over them. Hazel is still unconscious - there's a trickle of blood running through the side of her face. Something is slowing down Annabeth - she shivers every time they take a step. So it comes to Piper to try and guide them through the falling building.
She is still a boy - and she hates it - but maybe it's just an illusion, and when they get out of here, she'll get her two-year estrogen body back.
Piper guides them out, with the makhai in tow. It doesn't feel like a victory - not when, even though she crossed the border of the hill, she keeps her boy's body.
Climbing back on the ship, she hides herself in her room. She - he, because that's a he body, and a he person, and she is not a he but when she looks in the mirror, he looks back.
Piper works herself into a panic attack alone in her room - and it's actually Annabeth that comes to check on her.
"Tell me five things you can see, Piper"
Annabeth's golden tresses. A blue sweater that is probably Percy's and got mixed in the laundry. One of Leo's screws that are everywhere he goes. A crown of flowers Katie Bell did for her. Malcolm's favorite book sitting at her nightstand.
"Good. Four things you can touch."
A calloused hand beneath hers. The soft jeans Annabeth is using. The cold hardwood floors. The wall against her back.
"You're doing amazing. Now three things you can hear."
The ship's engine rumbling beneath them. Annabeth's voice. Nico's brooding rock music coming from his room.
"Almost done. Two things you can smell."
Annabeth's lavender cologne mixed with the grime and sweat of their taxing day. The salty smell of the ocean.
"One thing you can taste."
Her mouth on Annabeth's. It's Piper who starts it - she is just so overwhelmed by Annabeth's everything, still worked up about the anxiety attack she just had, and they are so close.
The daughter of Athena is surprised and pushes back - she sits side by side with Piper, holding her wrist so she can't flee.
"Piper, I... I didn't mean to pass the... wrong... signs. I don't like girls. And boy body or not, you're still a girl."
It's the best and the worst let down of Piper's life. She nods - she is the daughter of Aphrodite. She should've known better. Annabeth is in love with Perseus - for years now.
"We can still be friends, right?"
Piper nods - Annabeth thinks it's ironic. It's the same interaction she had with Perseus - and she knows that, deep down, being friends is not enough, how much this rejection is just as bad as any other.
But she wants to keep Piper in her life. Is unfair - but there's something guiltily pleasurable about having someone that likes you, to know that you're not undesirable.
It's selfish, but Annabeth never claimed to be altruistic.
Up in the deck, Frank and Jason are receiving news of Reyna. She says she and Malcolm were attacked by Lycaon and his pack - and that Malcolm had a vision about Orion, the giant meant to oppose the twin gods, heading towards the Hunters and the Amazons.
With Apollo and Artemis missing, it comes to them to help. Jason thinks they could try and help if they cross paths, but that they should inform them by IM and go on their way - they have little time to dawdle, even if they're using Malcolm's mother transport company to carry the giant statue.
They are able to rest for the remainder of the day - it's more or less eighteen hours before Reyna sends the next message - they met the hunters and the Amazon in the Lisbon's Harbor and fought Orion, but no god came to give him the final blow.
So Reyna and Hylla had to run - the statue was already shipped off to America, and nymphs were helping them to get to the Long Island Bay within the next two days. Malcolm wasn't so lucky.
Orion smashed Malcolm against a boulder, breaking his arm and a leg. As they fled, Malcolm told them to leave him behind - he would stall the giant for a little while.
With most Amazons and Hunters out of commission or dead, they had no other choice. The last thing Reyna saw was Orion raising Malcolm above his head, and the sickening crunch of it breaking against the sea rocks.
Will is the one on patrol - and the one who has to relay the news to Annabeth. He doesn't want to wake her, but it's her right to know - so he goes and wakes Perseus too, to help deliver the blow.
"Annie, I... We... We have bad news."
Annabeth screams - that was her big brother, almost her father. He taught her how to hold a shield and how to swim - he was her only family left on Camp.
It's unfair. That shouldn't be his battles anymore - he is twenty! She screams and she throws a statue of her mother - and that damned coin - into the wall. Then Annabeth sobs on Perseus' shirt.
"It's her fault Percy, all her fault if she didn't send us in this goose chase if she didn't choose Malcolm..."
Will solves to tell the others in the morning - it's late, and most of them had little to no sleep. He goes back on deck, but there's a storm brewing in the ocean - and it's not a natural one. It's some kind of deity - and that's not a good moment.
He goes to Perseus - he is still awake, asleep Annabeth with tear tracks in her cheeks and scrapped knuckles in his arms, and tells him about the situation - Will is not that good of a fighter.
"I'll deal with it. Stay with her. I'll be back shortly."
Will should be alarmed - with Perseus more recent behavior, the way he always hated the gods' trivial troubles, should he really be sending him upstairs, with an ax, a tiger, and a mad expression into his eyes? Maybe not, but he won't stop it. The deity chooses their own fate - even Will is done with their willful moods, compromising a much more important journey in their own name.
Let whoever it is burn - The son of Apollo covers the sleeping girl's ears softly. She doesn't need this kind of stress now.
The storm stops, but the screams in the deck don't - they are like music to his ears.

A/N: I’m back! Sorry this took so long, the ending just would not let itself get written. This is for two challenges. The first is @letsgetoutalive‘s Mental Health Awareness Challenge, and my prompt was substance abuse (I really hope I did it justice. I researched it but I have no actual experience with this, so if anything is wrong let me know). The second was @nichelle-my-belle‘s 4K Angst Challenge, and my prompt for that one was “Isn’t it scary to be ready to die at such a young age?” Enjoy!
Tumblr media
“You stupid bastard! How could you? You were-- I-- God!” Voice hoarse from screaming, you knelt in front of his grave, moisture soaking through the knees of your jeans. Your fingers skimmed the engravings in the marble stone as tears fell, racing down your cheeks as if there would be a prize for first place. “I'm all alone now, you asshole! And it's all your fault!”
Cautiously, Sam approached you and gently took your hand, his heart breaking at your pain. You looked up at him, eyes puffy and red, and allowed yourself to be pulled up until you were standing. Wrapping his arms around you, your dad hugged you tightly, his chin resting on the top of your head, and you let it happen, let yourself bury your face in his chest and dissolve into a fresh wave of tears.
“Shh, it's okay, sweetheart,” he whispered, rubbing circles on your back. “It's gonna be okay.”
But he was wrong. It wasn't going to be okay, you were never going to be okay.
Because how can you be okay, how can you possibly go on with your life, when your best friend takes his own?
In the days following Jackie’s death, you were a wreck. Numb, mind clouded with darkness, even getting out of bed was a difficult task to accomplish. You slept for hours all day, hardly ever coming out of your room. Your uncle stopped in every once in awhile to check on you and try to talk, but you never responded. What was the point? Talking about what had happened wouldn't bring Jackie back. Nothing would.
Your dad, god bless him, was at your side the whole time, trying to help you, trying his damndest to coax you out of the shell you'd created. He didn't force you to go back to school, knowing you would want to go back of your own choice, and you were so grateful.
By the end of the second week, however, Sam realized that he needed to quit being your friend and start being your father again.
“Hey, kiddo?” he called from the doorway of your room. He heard of a grunt of acknowledgement come from the lump of blankets on the bed, and took it as an invitation to enter. Carefully, he sat down next to you on the bed, his hand on your back. “Listen, I know you're still upset and grieving, and you’re allowed to, you wouldn't be human if you didn't… But at some point, you are going to need to try and go back to school.” Somewhere up by the pillows, a whimper escaped from the blanket wall. “I know you don't want to, but there are only so many days you can miss. You've already been out for two weeks. That's gonna be a lot of make up work.”
He sighed. “I won't lie, it's not gonna be easy. It's probably gonna hurt like a bitch. I have a lot of faith in you, though. You're a strong kid, you'll make it through this. Just… promise me you'll at least try?”
Muffled through the blankets, your response was so quiet. “Promise, daddy.”
“I’m sorry for your loss, Y/N.”
“Where have you been, Y/N? You missed a lot of school.”
“Y/N, I'm so sorry.”
Everywhere you went, the condolences followed, clinging to you like a wet shirt. It bothered you, pissed you off, even. You didn't want these people’s “I'm sorry”s, you wanted them to leave you alone. If Jackie had been there, he would have told them off for you. But he wasn't.
“Hey, Y/N?”
Looking up from your textbook, you saw a girl standing in front of your desk, most likely another junior. Her face, round and covered in freckles, was unfamiliar to you, but she seemed nice enough.
“I know you’re probably sick of everybody talking to you today,” she said; you scoffed -- finally, someone understood. “But, uh, me and a few of my friends are all hanging out together Friday night, and we wanted to know if you’d like to join us. We figure you could use a bit of a distraction. It’s okay if you’d rather not, though.”
For a minute, you were silent, thinking. As much as the idea made you want to vomit, you knew somewhere in the back of your mind that it would be good for you to finally get out of the bunker, and not just for school.
Besides, it was what Jackie would want you to do.
“I’d love to,” you said, speaking for the first time that day.
The girl grinned. “Great!”
All of a sudden, for the first time since everything happened, you could sense yourself beginning to feel happy. And it made you smile.
The rest of the week passed by in lurches. By the time Friday came, you were actually… excited. When you told your dad you were going out, he was beyond thrilled, as was your uncle. They were so proud of you for picking yourself up.
“Y/N!” a voice called. Glancing over your shoulder, you saw the girl -- Missy -- and her friends standing by the entrance to the house waving you over, and you walked to them. With a forceful shove, you pushed away the feelings of apprehension that bubbled to the forefront of your mind, and tried to at least enjoy yourself, just a little bit.
About two hours into the small get together was when it happened.
Beforehand, it was quite pleasant. You’d mingled with Missy’s friends, made small talk. Everyone, even if they didn’t know you, was nice, respectful. They didn’t push you to talk about yourself; half of them probably only wanted you to listen to them talk anyway.
Then, just as things started to get to be a little too much, a little too overwhelming, someone offered you a drink. Deciding to accept it rather than seem rude, you thought nothing of it until you caught a whiff of it. Alcohol -- whiskey, to be exact.
After everything was said and done, you would wonder what made you do it. Maybe it was because of Jackie and his suicide, maybe it was because you were all alone in the world now. Hell, maybe it was just because you needed something to numb the pain.
Whatever the reason, when you took that first sip and felt it burn down your throat, it felt good. So damn good. When you'd finished the whole cup, you didn't even realize at first, too caught up in how free it made you feel -- free from the numbness, free from the pain.
You wanted more.
You needed more.
For nearly two months after that night, you jumped at any chance to have another drink. You started going out more, partying and drinking until the wee hours of the morning, when you would curl up in the bathroom and puke your guts out. During school, you would carry a water bottle around filled with vodka, just so you could have that beautiful pain-numbing feeling everywhere you went.
The past few days had been spent blessedly numb since your dad and uncle were out of town on a hunt, leaving you at home in the bunker. Alone. With no one to tell you what you could and couldn't do.
As soon as you walked in the door, you dropped your backpack on the landing and threw your coat over the railing. Taking two steps at a time, you hurried down the stairs and practically ran for the kitchen.
When you got there, you pulled the refrigerator door open, trying to decide what to drink. Whiskey? Bourbon? There were endless possibilities thanks to your uncle’s love of alcohol. Eventually, you settled on plain old beer, wanting some variety. Reaching past the leftovers, you grabbed the six-pack and pulled out one of the bottles. Beer in one hand, the other went searching through the drawers for a bottle opener, which of course you found in the last cabinet you checked.
Suddenly, you heard the giant steel door open, followed by two pairs of footsteps descending down the metal staircase. Your father’s voice called out, echoing through the hallways. “Y/N, we're back!”
Silent curses flying from your lips, you scrambled around the room, hastily shoving the bottle opener back into the drawer as quietly as humanly possible. Throwing the fridge door open so hard it teetered on its edges, you quickly replaced the beer bottle in the six-pack and slammed the refrigerator shut before almost diving into one of the chairs at the table.
“In the kitchen, dad!”
Not a minute later, Sam came sauntering into the room, duffle bag slung over his shoulder. “Hey, kiddo.”
“Hey, adulto,” you greeted, hoping he couldn't hear your slightly labored breathing.
“What are you up to?” he asked.
You shrugged. “Nothing. Just hanging out before I start my homework.” Noticing his unexpected arrival, you tilted your head, much like your Uncle Cas would. “You're home early.”
“Uh, yeah,” he said. “Turns out there were some other hunters in the area that were able to help us out, so we finished up a lot quicker than we expected. Any troubles here?”
“Nope. I’ve just been chilling in the kitchen.”
“All right,” Sam said. He shifted the weight on his shoulders, looking like he was going to leave, but then hesitated. Meeting your eyes, a smile ghosted his lips. “Listen, I just wanted to say that… I’m really proud of you. I know the past few months haven’t been easy, but for the most part you’ve kept your head on straight, and not many people would be able to do that. So, I’m proud of you, sweetheart. You're doing good.”
Guilt came crashing down on you like a wave, threatening to swallow you whole. Your dad -- your hero, the one person in the whole world you admired the most -- was proud of you for a lie. Meanwhile, your grades in school were slipping dangerously low, you couldn't get through the day now without a little hunter’s helper, and your life was balancing precariously on the line between held together and total collapse.
Throat burning with tears you refused to let fall, you smiled ruefully. “Thanks, dad.”
A happy sigh on his lips, Sam walked over and kissed the top of your head, leaving the room with a grin plastered on his face, so full of love for his beautiful, strong daughter.
That night, after he and Dean had already gone to bed, you snuck a bottle of some of your uncle’s hard liquor into your room and drank yourself into a shame-filled sleep.
By the time Sam and Dean found out about your little alcohol problem, it was all but too late.
You’d been drinking every day for weeks, downing as many as five or six in one day, almost addicted to the delicious burn of whiskey, the smooth silkiness of Bailey’s Irish Cream, the smoky taste of bourbon. School became optional -- you started cutting class, choosing instead to get blackout drunk behind the building while the druggies shot up beside you.
With your impaired judgement, you decided one day that it would be a great idea to skip class and go home. Of course, in your alcohol-addled mind, the thought never occurred to you that your uncle was there at that very moment.
You arrived at the bunker on foot, drink sloshing around in your unsteady hand. After three tries, you finally figured out how to open the door, slamming it shut behind yourself. Stumbling down the stairs, you missed Dean’s confused expression at your sudden appearance.
“Y/N?” he called. “What the hell are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at school?”
“Shhh, s’okay. S’all okay,” you told him, draping yourself across one of the chairs around the table in the war room. As you lifted your drink to take another swig, Dean snatched it out of your hand, eliciting a whine from you.
Taking a sniff, he recoiled. “Is this alcohol?” He looked at you incredulously. “Are you-- are you drunk?
“Yeah,” you said, still pouting. “So?”
“So?” Dean asked. “Why the hell are you drunk? And for that matter, why are you even drinking?”
“Doesn't matter,” you mumbled.
If his eyes could have grown any bigger, they would have popped right out of his skull. “It doesn’t matter? Of course it damn well matters!”
“Don’ worry,” you slurred, too inebriated to realize you were only making the situation much worse. “‘M fine.”
“You’re not fine!” your uncle screamed, his anger increasing. “You’re 17, dammit! You shouldn’t be getting drunk off your friggin’ ass, Y/N!”
Growing aggravated by the interrogation and your inability to fall back on the alcohol as a crutch, you hissed at him. “Wha’ are you gonn’ do about it? You’re not my dad.”
“But I am.”
Sam walked into the room from where he’d been standing in the hallway, heart heavy. You felt resentment rise within you at the sight of him, though for what you had no idea.
“You gonn’ send me to my room?” you said with disgust. Snarling, you spat at him. “Screw you.”
Eyes wide, your dad looked a puppy who’d been kicked one too many times. It should have hurt you, should have affected you more than it did, but you were too far gone into the bliss of the alcohol to care.
They tried. Oh, how they tried. Your father and uncle did everything they could to assist you in getting sober, in getting your life back to normal; you, however, resisted. Vehemently denying their attempts to help, you continued to drink well into the ensuing weeks. You refused to participate in any of the recovery activities at the rehab center they sent you to, still believing yourself to be perfectly fine.
No matter what anyone said, you wouldn’t stop. Even when the doctors raised the increasing possibility of death, you dismissed them.
Isn’t it scary to be ready to die at such a young age? they would ask you.
Not at all, you would respond.
Then, everything changed one day with four little words.
“What would Jackie think?”
And with that, your whole attitude flipped like a light switch. The thought of Jackie, your best friend and other half, being upset with you, disappointed in you, filled you with shame, and renewed your spirit to fight back against your own mind.
At first, it was a grueling process. After drinking for so long and becoming dependent on the alcohol, your body did not adjust well to a lack of it. If you weren’t running a fever, you had to deal with the muscle tremors and headaches, or the horrible anxiety you developed. Your depression also increased to the point where even your dad wanted to find an alternative solution, but you stuck it out. You wanted to make Jackie proud.
Nearly four months later, despite a few minor setbacks, you finished your inpatient treatment at the rehab center. Now, instead of turning to booze to fix your problems, you knew you had a support system that you could turn to if you needed anything.
The remaining road to recovery was going to be long and challenging, you had no doubt, but you were ready for it. You were ready for anything.

I'm the anon who wrote to you about airport security. I just wanted to tell you that for body scanners I didn't mean metal detectors. Just check on google 'full body scanners'. I believe these are in airports all around the US. When you pass through the scanner you or the officer have to push a male or female icon button based on your sex. These scanners can found anomalies on one's body. If so, then they opt for a pat down. I want you to know how many trans people are humiliated by this.
OH WOW Okay so they’ve changed since I’ve flown. Apparently the things I used to go through were metal detectors of sorts or maybe just... straight up metal detectors. I haven’t flown in a while. In fact, I don’t remember when the last time I flew was. Every time I’ve gotten anywhere, it’s been via driving all these years. Jfc. The last time I had to go through an airport, it was via... I’m actually p sure it WAS a straight up metal detector. Because it was just... one little walk-through box that you didn’t even have to pause in. It would just beep if you had anything. Like. . .jfc. The things I’m seeing online are things that actually take maybe even full CT images of you?
I saw that you can opt out of using them, but ...I mean... if you opt out of using them, then they have to search you another way and what other way are they gonna do it than with a more invasive way than what everyone else is doing? Which. . .would be via the metal detector wand or a pat down? I mean, I guess. . .since they’re going to have security that strict anyways, they have to make everyone go through the same thing.
But I don’t know enough about them to really say anything other than that. I didn’t do enough looking other than to view images and see what the difference between a backscatter scanner and a full-body scanner was. I’m sure I can do more looking into that later because I’m sure it’ll cause issues for me later. . .especially after HRT causes changes in the look of my body and voice maybe years down the road (if I’m lucky) and I get my name changed as soon as I become a legal resident of this state and county. I probably won’t pass anytime soon, though. The dysphoria will still be extremely strong, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t have any anxiety issues like a lot of people do so I don’t have any issues with getting pulled out of lines for a pat-down or anything like that. And if I don’t physically see them pressing the button as to female or male, that wouldn’t bother me. Do you know if you see them do it? Coz I know in the short introductory video I watched (that honestly didn’t show much, so I’m just guessing, feel free to correct me if you want), the officer is not allowed to see who is in the scanner for privacy issues. So they’re like. . .in this booth behind the scanner. And then there’s an officer on the outside with you. Or some sort of set-up like that. There’s a lot of privacy issues going on with this thing, according to wikipedia (but we all know how “reliable” wikipedia is. It’s a good place to start collecting information, but not a good place for research). Even one regarding child pornography? Jesus fucking christ. Like what the FUCK.
But yeah, I can see how that would be an issue for a lot of us. I can see how it would affect me in the future, most definitely, when I begin to pass. I feel like people with anxiety have their dysphoria affected way more in social scenarios like that. With me. . .with zero anxiety at all. . .I’m perfectly comfortable in social settings and I even enjoy having the spotlight put on me like that. I enjoy the attention. I don’t like the touching, so that wouldn’t be pleasant, but it wouldn’t bother me. It would only be if I were to be brought off on some charge that I would have any sort of, er. . .negative effect because then that would threaten my. . .Idk, it would just make me have catastrophic thoughts in general, I guess? Whenever any sort of scenario like that happens where someone in power CAN gain the upper hand, my mind goes to catastrophic scenarios because there has always been someone else in the mix who already HAS the upper hand who WANTS THEM to have the upper hand on me (aka, my parents, past lovers, ex people-who-I-thought-were-”friends”-at-the-time, etc. . .). So I automatically forget that I’m either a) on my own or b) with someone/people who actually, genuinely care(s). So I just go into panic mode and usually what gets me in trouble isn’t even whatever they brought me in on. . .it’s what they caused by bringing me in. Aka, whatever they made me think by doing that. And the reaction to the catastrophic thoughts.
So I guess since I don’t really have anything to hide. . .there’s nothing that bothers me about this? And since I don’t have anxiety that ties into my dysphoria and I haven’t experienced any sort of consistent passing yet and my passing is not close to 50% yet,. . .it also doesn’t bother me? I also am assuming that when I DO start passing, it WILL start bothering me. And that when my gender gets changed legally and when things get all switched over legally. . .things WILL become a touchy subject with me and I WILL start being snippy with everyone except medical staff over correcting them when they use pronouns incorrectly.
I CAN see how this would really fuck up trans people who wear prosthetic stuff, though. Like a penis or a breast plate or any sort of padding. Like. . .to be FORCED to explain those things must be EXTREMELY uncomfortable for some people. Whereas I, myself, am very open about those things if I were to wear them. . .I know a lot of other people wouldn’t be. And it would probably even OUT some people without them thinking about it until it happened. Jfc. Especially people meeting up with their LD friends or something. “Oh btw guys I wear a fake penis/boobs/something. Ya all cool with that?” What if you didn’t WANT to come out just yet? What if you’re underage and with your PARENTS. Yikes. Yikes. YIKES. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. NO NO NO. I can’t even imagine. Like... ahhhh. All I wear is a binder. Like. I don’t and never will wear anything below the belt because all genitals freak me out and I wish I could get a certain surgery before HRT kicks up, but that deff won’t happen because money. So. I just have to be extremely uncomfortable and hate myself. Lol. But it’s okay. Ugh.
But wow. I didn’t even think about all of that until it just hit me right then as I was typing that all of the ways it could really fuck up a trans person’s day/week/year/LIFE. Fucking TRAUMATIZE a trans person. I mean, hell, I was traumatized when I was outted by my best friend (who is still my best friend) accidentally to someone close to me before I was ready and they fucking abandoned me over it while I was abroad once. Like. It was absolutely insane. I’m STILL not over that and I don’t think I ever WILL be. Imagine if it had happened because of a stupid fucking TSA scanner. Jfc. . . I can’t even. Imagine being outted while underage by a scanner to your parents and having to sit on an extremely long flight with your parents and then a long drive home or, worse, to a fucking vacation with family...... oh god.... I can’t even imagine.... And I can imagine that’s happened. Only to come home and be disowned. I can literally imagine that happening. If I had come out or been outted while underage, that’s something my parents would have done. I didn’t figure out I was trans until I was in my fucking 20′s. So. . . I mean. . .I somehow avoided that. But. . .I can imagine that happening to TODAY’S youth since they all have access to the web and all these resources and WOW. And that’s fucking terrifying.
I just...can’t even. There’s a lot of other catastrophic scenarios I can imagine, but if I write down more, I’ll give myself a panic attack and my valium script is out. Lol. Like I said, a lot of PTSD issues lately. I may not have any anxiety issues, but I do have panic disorder, which is a totally different thing. I may have the better of the two imo, but it still fucking sucks. Ahhhh.
I’m so sorry. I miss flying. I miss it a lot. But. . .I don’t miss all the TSA bullshit. Especially THAT part. And these scanners are bullshit. Wow.
