"It's not about how the story is and mistakes that are made. It's about the enjoyment you feel when you are making it." -Me I have had multiple people tell me that I should've done this, or that this is wrong and that's not how something works. Who cares? You shouldn't have to listen to other people's comments, you wrote the story, that's how it is. Now I'm not saying to ignore criticism, I take some people's opinion in mind. However, I'd rather write the story and enjoy it the way I wrote it, then having to change it the way other people want it. If you want it that way, then why don't you write it?

Redemption (Original Story)
This is the original story of mine for Redemption, so far I have only written the prologue. Should I continue this story?
Across the land, a plain like an open book lies the Kingdom of a race unknown to the world. Every other race knew that they existed, yet their culture was unexplainable to the race of men. How could anyone hold that much restraint, how could one being be able to be civil all the time? The motives were unclear, and the reasoning was confusing. Soon no one believed that this peaceful race could stay the same, the truth is still unknown to this day. The humans and dwarves believed a lie, a fake story that not even I could decipher at the age of 12. It started almost 100 years ago, the day I would inherit the Soul of The Black Dragon.
   In other words, it's called our coronation, and all the races were invited. Today was the day, the day I would be able to see all the people with pointy ears and short men. The other kinds in Drarak's domain peaked my interest, I always wanted to learn about their culture. Their language looked funny, but I always wanted to see what it meant.
"Are you excited?" My mother placed her hand on my head, tucking a lock of hair behind my long pointy ear. Our ears were longer than the elves and dwarves, past the edge of our heads. People sometimes called us the mutation of elves, but we were different, we were Digonisks. I turned to face my mother, her grayish eyes complimenting her face. Especially the way her brown hair reached her shoulders, she always kept it short which was perfect for her features. And no matter how many times she would smile widely, I always thought she looked beautiful.  "You've been going on and on about meeting the humans and Dwarves for quite sometime."
"What about the elves?" My voice came out as a small childish squeak, for I was pretty nervous.
"Unfortunately King Tyranis had to decline our invitation." The frown upon her face made my heart skip a beat, it wasn't just the frown, but the way she swallowed nervously. Yet as the frown appeared it was replaced with a smile, kissing my forehead she grabbed my hand and led me down the white corridor. The hall was covered in decorations, leading to the main ballroom where the ceremony would begin. I was terrified to accept such a gift, I could not have known what would come of it. Would it hurt? Would I be ok? My parents never told me about how the ceremony would happen, but they did explain it was some sort of test to prove I was worthy. My mother sensed an aura of distress coming from me, for her gaze met mine. "Do not be afraid my dear." Her hand squeezed mine gently as a reassurance, but my heart would not stop pounding.
"Myis ferisi! (My fire)" My father smiled and greeted my mother, leaving a small peck upon her cheek as we stopped at the ballroom door. His cheerful smile brought me joy, as his cheeks lifted up from his grin it shifted both his dark red beard and hair. His hair now was out of the way, showing his gray-blue eyes. That was one of the features I got from him, like my father I had his eyes. Yet I was so different from the both of them, though my parents say it's entirely normal for a child to look different from their guardians, especially an heir to the throne. "You look beautiful as always, and you my dear!" He knelt down to my level, happy tears began to form. "No-one can ever match your beauty, look how much you've grown. 12 years old already, who knew how fast time could fly by." He placed both of his large hands on my arms, there was a twinkle in his eye. I could only decipher two emotions from the look on his face, guilt, and excitement. "The guests are waiting, they just arrived, but before we go in..." He wanted to tell me something, but my mother placed a hand on his shoulder and shook her head. He sighed sadly and stood releasing me from his hold, a small tear slipped down his pale skin.
"Are you ill fetair (Father)?" I tilted my head to the side confused, but he only laughed softly.
"No my daughter, I am not ill." He grabbed onto my mother's arm for strength, he wasn't sick, just sad and it took everything in him to no burst into tears. His eyes watered, but he had to act like he was ok, was he nervous about the ceremony? "Whatever happens, just know that we are proud of you."
"Fetair (Father)-" I go to comfort him, I didn't want him to be sad or nervous, but a dwarvish guard placed his hand out in front of me. Where did he come from? I didn't hear him appear, was he standing next to us the entire time? Two of my kins guard stood at the ballroom door, hands on the handle. My mother gave me a small nod while holding onto my heart broken father, it was time. "Don't worry, I'll pass the test, and I'll show you how strong I am!" I declared with a smile, trying to ease my father, it seemed to work for he returned it.
"I have no doubt." My father said with a silent sob coming from his lips. Turning to the tall black doors, I waited as the guards pushed them inwards. And inside awaited no one, not one single soul was insight at on the ground. As I stepped through the doors I spotted the people I had been so eager to meet, they were above me on the second floor of the ballroom. They watched with displeased faces as I made my way inside, none were happy whatsoever. Did they not want to be here? My heart racing like a horse, I walked across the black marble floor, my reflection showing upon the ground.
"Come my dear." A man appeared at the pedestal in long white robes and a golden thread that had been inserted in the cloth to make the shape of a dragon. He looked like me in a way, his hair was like mine, long and a pure ice white color. Though his jawline was more in the shape of a V, he looked incredibly young to be a priest. He held out his hand towards me, and I took it, walking up the stairs. That's when it all went wrong, something inside me clicked, like a warning that I was imminent danger. A loud crash came from my right, and all the dwarves and humans came down with weapons in hand. I believe this is what humans call an ambush, what I hadn't noticed was that more of my kin was on the ballroom floor. It was like they followed me in the room silently without me knowing, all of their eyes widened in horror as they spotted something I didn't. Another explosion went off this time from behind, and that's when I knew exactly what was happening. These people weren't here for my coronation, they could careless about the next heir in line taking upon her people's legacy. They were here...to kill us.
Ice shot from all different directions, impaling each and every Digonisk I set my eyes on. It wasn't normal ice like you would think, it was magical ice, also known as icisis. It was a poison only made for my race, it was the only thing that could make us weak. We are immune to fire, mostly because my kind are dragon-slayers, that is their main purpose besides being the peace-keepers of Darak. In order to keep ourselves alive we must stay warm, or we grow cold and fragile then eventually die. I felt a tug on my arm, it was my parents begging me to run with them, to get out of this horrid place.
"There's no time!" My father yelled, and picked me up bridal style, I could not move. My body was in shock, it was still, my mind had a million thoughts in it at once. Why did they want to hurt us? Why did they choose this exact moment to do it? What had we done to deserve this? It wasn't until my father fell to the ground with me in his arms that I snapped out of my trance. Blood splattered against my face as he coughed, he had been shot. "Please, I beg of you! We can talk through this! We have no reason to fight!"
"You've reigned long enough so-called peacekeepers, after what you did your kind must go extinct. Kill them, and start with the child." The human man ordered, his eyes showed no remorse for us, he was a cold-blooded killer for the making. As the human guards walked towards us weapons raised, their swords sharper than a dragon's claw, my father kissed my forehead one last tim before shoving me into my mother's arms. He pushed us both off the white marble balcony, and as we flew from the ledge I watched as my father was slaughtered before my eyes.
"FETAIR! (Father!)" I screamed for him, trying to release myself from my mother's hold but to no avail I could not escape. I could feel the silent sobs from my mother, her tears soon dampening my coronation dress. The human man ordered for his men to follow us, but not before he inserted a custom made icisis sword through my father's chest. The red liquid that ran through my father's body soon poured off of the flooring like a waterfall.
"It's alright my dear, we'll be alri-" My mother tried to comfort me as we flew away, holding me tight in her arms as her ebony dragon wings create winds like a hurricane. Though unexpectedly, her breath hitched and soon we came tumbling down to the green grass, we were in the gardens now and I was trapped in her embrace. Her wings spread around me, protecting me from any oncoming injuries. She let out a groan, and that's when I felt something warm on my leg, when we came to a halt I looked down. In her side a piece of ice was implanted, and it was deep, as well as the wounds on her wings. Someone had struck her down with another blast, or a small bomb infused with icisis. "M-My dear." She stammered, desperately trying to stay awake for me. Her eyes showed exhaustion, and with a smile, she rested her hand on my cheek.
"Mama?" I whispered as tears were running down my skin freely, she was dying and I couldn't do anything about it. Was this really how her life was going to end? My kin, no, my mother being sentenced to death for a crime we had not committed? Or did we? What could they believe that we had done?
"Do not be afraid, and remember that we are peaceful. Don't take revenge no matter how much you want to, but do one thing for me." She spoke softly, caressing my head gently as my sight became blurry, I grew tired like a sudden wave of exhaustion had come over me. And before I slipped in eternal darkness, a ring of white starlight traveled down her arm entering my body from the connection between us. "Show them our innocence."

Chapter 2: An Affair
Masterlist
Home Sweet Home
I laid in bed, wiping away the tears that I had let out for the last hour. Klaus didn’t follow me when I went home, he went back to sitting on that bench devastated at what I had said. He too was in tears, but I knew he watched me as I walked away, he missed me and expected everything to go back to normal. I almost did, I almost caved in but I couldn’t, not again.
“You spoke with him I see.” I didn’t move, I figured Elijah would have appeared back in my room again at some point tonight. “He told me what you said, and for the first time in years he broke down realizing again all the mistakes he had made with you. He loves you, you know that, which is why he has decided to take care of this child to make you happy.”
“Good.” I replied, sitting up to look up at him, he sat on the side of my bed smiling down at me.
Tumblr media
“Thank you. Though now I have another favor to ask.” I rolled my eyes while shaking my head, I had just helped him. What could he want now?
“No Elijah, no more favors.”
“Well, it’s more of a precaution than a favor, you need to move back in with us. Protect Hayley while we try to get back your grimoire, and you’ll be able to make plans to head back home in peace. I must ask, is that the best course of action? Won’t your family know what you have done?”
“They are frozen Eijah, they won’t know, we only exit the mountain if we need food. They have no knowledge of the outside world, only me and...Fenris did." A vision flashed across my mind, the beautiful forest, but mostly the portal behind us. Our hearts would beat with joy and excitement as we left it behind.
Tumblr media
"I remember we would sneak out every night on patrol and watch the wolves change, and then maybe during the day we would watch you and Niklaus fight.”
“And on that day, you got caught, I spotted the both of you which wasn’t very sneaky of you I may say.”
“We had no shadows to hide in Elijah, but even during the day you could never catch me.” We both laughed remembering the many failed attempts of the siblings trying to catch me in a game of tag, for adults we certainly were childish.
“You were a better fighter than the rest of the village, even father, which is probably why he favored you more.”
“...I was his second favorite; Freya will always be number one. Though his favoring me is why he didn’t kill me the night of the theater...” He looked at me confused, wondering what I meant, they both saw me get impaled by the white oak stake. “After you had left with Niklaus the theater was coming down to the ground...”
*1919, October 16th*
Mikael impaled me with the white oak stake, and in that moment, I accepted my death.
Tumblr media
Klaus wouldn’t have, he was screaming for me, wanting to kill Mikael but they had to leave. Klaus grabbed Rebekah and they fled, and once they were out of sight and hearing, Mikael dropped me as I wrapped my leg around his, making him fall to the side. I let out a breath as the stake left my chest, quickly I grabbed it and before Mikael could attack, I pointed it at his chest.
“You still are able to best me.” He smiled, proud of how strong I was. “Unfortunately, Klaus wasn’t able to in all his years.”
“He will one day, when he decides to stop being a coward.”
“You saw it, what a failure he was! Even with the training you gave him he still couldn’t save you. He ran like the man he is, a dog with his tail tucked between his legs.” Of course, I saw it, he would never face his father if he had me at his side. I was always saving us from Mikael, not him, I was always the one left behind. “Help me kill him.”
“I can’t nor would I, but you can kill him yourself.” I handed him the stake, which surprised him greatly. “Leave town, leave me in peace but let me save him.” I gestured to Marcel who was still stuck on the pillar knocked out. “Or I will hunt you down and kill you like the monster you are.”
“Still feisty.” He commented, and accepted my deal. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell him of your betrayal.” Those were the last words he said to me that night, I managed to save Marcel but I was filled with guilt. Though I knew Klaus would escape his father, he just needed a little push to kill his father for once and for all.
*Present*
Elijah was speechless, he felt betrayed and angry that I had decided to leave but he couldn’t be upset with me. He knew I was right, I had always been the liability, the one that got sacrificed.
“I’m sorry we treated you this way, that drove you to abandon us. You had every right after all this pain and grief our family has put you through. Though I ask again that you move in with us, tomorrow, at least until you are ready to head home.”
“Of course, Elijah, but I want my room that I used to sleep in. Klaus can have the guest room.”
“Knowing Niklaus he will sleep on the couch in your room, now that you're alive he’s not going to want to leave your side. He will be here soon to check on you, he had some business to take care.”
“Then why are you really here? Surely you could’ve sent me a message about moving in.” He sighed, and scooted closer to me, placing his hand on my cheek. I nuzzled further into his palm, making him smile,
“I have always wanted to tell you, but I never had the chance due to your ‘death’. And then you were married to my brother.” He paused, wondering if he should continue his sentence. He looked deeply into my eyes; with a certain type of love I had only seen Klaus give me. I rested my hand on his. “...When you married my brother, I was incredibly heartbroken, and I had hoped before that you would have loved me...but I see how unhappy you are with him. He should have treated you better...Myis Ferisi.” I gasped, he knew my language, had he studied it after all these years? “I understand if you do not feel the same for me, but since we are being honest, I thought I might as well tell you.”
“So now we both have secrets we can’t tell Klaus.” He pulled away silently, nodding at my statement, though he wanted to know how I felt about him. “I have always admired you Elijah, you were always so patient with me. You understood what I liked, and how I am, perhaps marrying you would have been the better choice.” He smiled, and with quick action he pressed his lips against mine, making me yelp.
Tumblr media
I returned it, kissing him back with the same force, no I couldn’t do this to Elijah. “Elijah...we can’t you know that, with Klaus here we can’t. I don’t want to lead you on into thinking that we’ll be together forever-” He interrupted me with a small passionate kiss.
“Give me one night, that is all I ask for, one night just you and me before you leave us forever.” I hesitated; would I really agree? Though after a thousand years of heartbreak, and now knowing I would leave and this time I wouldn’t come back...I felt as if I owed him this.
“I would be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about us.” I ran my hand up his chest, feeling him, “...me and you together. There were times you looked at other women, and I wished you looked at me like that. Yet I was loyal to Klaus, so I took no action to seduce you.”
“Just looking at your face makes me enchanted, it’s the best sight I have seen in 92 years. And I did look at you like that, every time I saw another woman, I would become depressed, because it wasn’t you.” I smiled, and he returned it with a look of lust. “Let me show you how my brother should have treated you, how he should have worshipped you...” He planted a kiss on my cheek, my lips, then my jaw and onto my neck. Though as he made me feel good physically, I had this guilt, but I wasn’t married to Klaus anymore. I grabbed his shirt, pulling him up to me, my lips met his.
Tumblr media
His hands slipped beneath my shirt, going to undo my bra as I undid his shirt. He flipped me over, hovering over me like I was his prey, roughly he grabbed my thigh. “I heard, you like it rough.” He quickly took off his clothing, as did I and once we were both bare he resumed his position. He lifted my ass, and ran his member over my slit, my core was acting up.
Tumblr media
“Good Kitten.” He growled and slammed back into me, I wouldn’t let him tame me so easily. I flipped us over, and stared at his body, I couldn't help but bite my lip.
“I think you’ve forgotten something Elijah...I’m not a kitten, not some prey.” I leaned down to whisper in his ear, “I’m the predator.” I began to rock back and forth on him, his hands grasped my thighs harshly helping me with my movement. He sat up biting my bottom lip, I groaned in pleasure as he slammed me down on his member.
“Then I guess we will tear each other apart.” He growled with a smirk, and placed his mouth on my breast. He took my nipple in between his teeth teasing me, I grabbed a fistful of his hair. “You're so beautiful....I love you.” He exclaimed as we finished together, he pushed the hair out of my face and sweetly kissed my lips.
“I love you too.”
Tumblr media
~~
The next morning I woke up with his arms wrapped around me. Last night we had a few more rounds, and we definitely tore each other apart. We both had blood stains on our body, I gotta admit pain with sex makes it more fun. Though it wasn’t sex to me, we made love, just in a more exotic way. I turned to face the man, he was already awake and when saw my face he smiled.
“Good Morning.” He greeted me by kissing my nose, “Go get the bath ready, I’ll make the bed, or are you too sore to move?” He joked and playfully pushed him, as I got up, he chuckled as I slowly made my way to the bathroom. I plugged the tub and filled it with hot water, then some lavender soap. “It smells nice here.” He told me walking in bare with his morning wood up and about.
“Is your friend joining us?”
“It seems so, but who wouldn’t get turned on by looking at such a magnificent woman.” He kissed my lips, lifting me into the bath and he joined behind me. “So the plans for today are?”
Tumblr media
I turned around, facing the man I had made love with last night. He greeted me with a kiss, I couldn't help but smile.
“Take a bath, pack my things and move in, and I think that’s it."
“How about we start with breakfast, and then as we eat movers can pack your things. What shall we have for breakfast?”
“I vote for McDonald's. They got some really good hash browns.” He laughed, giving me the most loving kiss I had ever received in my life. If this moment was with Klaus, we would’ve made love once and he would be gone the next morning to do business. Yet this man, he stayed and even made the bed, now he wanted to take me to breakfast?
“We’re vampires darling, we could go anywhere and you want to go to McDonald’s?” I nodded, making him grin.
Tumblr media
“You are adorable. We can get a hash brown on the way to Paris when we eat from that restaurant that you loved so much.”
“The one with the really fluffy eggs?” He nodded. “We won’t make it in time for breakfast, but a little compulsion can help. Maybe we should tell Klaus where we’re going, he’s going to wanna know where we’ve been.”
“I will message him, you go get ready, today is your day.” I quickly cleaned myself, and as fast as I could I got dressed for the day. He couldn't keep his eyes off me, looking at every curve. His little just decided to stay, I chuckled and brushed my hair as he came up behind me.
“You are absolutely gorgeous.” He said when I was done getting ready, he gave me a small peck on the cheek, and he took my arm in his once I was done. We walked down the stairs only to find a very angry Niklaus sitting on the patio couch waiting for us.

Y/n's Pov-
"You haven't been yourself lately." Marcel confronted, sitting on the black leather sofa, staring at me like I was acting this way with no purpose.
Tumblr media
"Normally your all chatty and bubbly, now your..." He waved his hand, gesturing to my curled figure by the ledge of the balcony. I sat there leaning on the cold metal bars watching as people walked the streets looking for something to buy while touring the town. The star lights lit up the city, it was like magic, I would always look up at the sky and it was just...amazing. Like a huge artwork but always moving. It was the only sight worth seeing these days, and the only thing I looked forward to.
Tumblr media
I looked over at him with a hateful look, which didn't make him happy.
"What do you expect me to do? After what you have decided Marcel, I can no longer feel joy towards you or in this place we call home." Segregating the witches, punishing them for their nature was unacceptable. It hurt my heart knowing I couldn't save them and wasn't as powerful as I used to be. I was always being watched, except at night, that is the only time I have privacy anymore.
"This again?" He sighed, leaning forward with a frown on his face. Jane-Anne was caught doing ma- "
"She's a witch Marcel!" I abruptly sped over, making him go silent as I stood in front of him with rage flowing through my body. "Witches do magic! She lost her daughter because of you, if you had let the ceremony continue, they would all be alive but now you have screwed us all! This is why vampires shouldn't meddle with witch business, you undead bastards understand nothing!" I turned away shaking my head, tears springing to my eyes, I couldn't save her...Marcel had the upper hand, after he stopped the harvest, he demanded all witches stop using their magic, and that included me considering I didn't agree with the new rule. He stole my grimoire, which is tethered to my magic and if he eradicates it, my magic and every descendant's charm of my tribe will be gone.
"Then tell me, what would have happened if the harvest continued?"
"I have told you! The girls would be sacrificed and brought back with more magic than they had before. Now Davina is stuck with all 4 elements, and the ancestors despise her for disobeying her coven. "
"I get it the end will come but you're not an ancestral witch, you don't know how to use their magic. So, until you can give me evidence instead of words that this will happen, the witches and you will still be under my command understand?" He walked over, getting a little too close for my liking, and whispered. "And the next time you yell at me, I will make sure to burn that book."
"I used to think of you as my son Marcellus, but you've turned into him. I am very disappointed in you, little warrior." He stopped for a second, upset that I felt this way, but continued to walk out without another word. He didn't care about me anymore, or he did but didn't want to seem weak in front of his men. Soon he was out of sight, and when I knew he couldn't hear me I jumped off the balcony, I needed to find Sophie, maybe she will know what her sister was up to with the new spell she decided to sacrifice herself for. Unfortunately, Jane was publicly executed earlier today, before I could ask her anything. Was she trying to find Davina and finish the ritual? It's the only thing that makes sense as to why she would use magic. I sped down multiple dark alleys towards the cemetery when I heard a whoosh behind me, probably one of Marcel's guards trying to follow me. I stopped and quickly slipped into the shadows above, watching as the vampire searched the area for me.
Tumblr media
"Y/n!!" I gasped at the man, Klaus...No it couldn't be him, it's not him, he wouldn't come back after all this time. We never went to another place twice, unless...Mikael was dead. "Where are you..." He silently sobbed running up to the other balconies across from my position trying to get a better view of where I was, he could find me if he tried hard enough. That's how I knew, he would know that I was hiding in the shadows. I was a witch as well as a vampire and shifter, I was called a tribrid though I wasn't born under the moon like Klaus was. I could shift into any animal as I pleased, but with Davina having the ability to see who does magic my abilities are limited. However, my disappearing skills came in handy when I wished to hide.
Tumblr media
"Niklaus," Elijah called, appearing from out of nowhere, with a sudden look of care as he saw his brother's state. "What is it?"
"I saw her brother; I saw her running down the alley." Klaus pointed to the road below, "She was right here...and then she was gone." He looked above, in all dark places that would be a perfect pocket to slip into, but he didn't find me.
"Who?" Elijah began to search the street with his eyes, looking for any signs or sounds but yet could find none.
"Y/n." When Elijah heard my name he sighed and placed his hand on Klaus's shoulder. He didn't believe his brother, mostly because they thought I was dead.
"She's been gone for 300 years; I believe this town is making you see things. We never truly got to say goodbye-" Klaus pulled away shaking his head, denying Elijah's statement.
"I saw her, it was her Elijah, she was running somewhere. She was wearing modern clothes, her hair still white but all her clothing black. She sensed me; she's hiding watching us this very second-" Elijah grabbed Klaus by his shoulders shaking him to get him to understand.
"Brother enough! Listen..." They both stopped, using their hearing they listened for my breathing or a heartbeat. Elijah was trying to prove I was no longer alive but his eyes widened as they heard it.  They looked in my direction but I moved as they zipped over to my original spot. Could it be them? There was only one way to find out if it was Klaus, the song we made together on our wedding day, an ancient song.
"I'll swim and sail on savage seas..." I sang, zipping to another area as both of their heads shot up looking at the place I had originally been. "...with never the fear of drowning..." I moved again, and yet they followed my voice once more.
"If you would marry me..." Klaus finished the tune that we had made, we wanted to create a song yet neither of us could write songs that well, he quickly turned to his brother. "Believe me now?" I smiled and whistled moving again, they looked to my original spot and realized I wanted them to follow me. Every so often I would let out a whistle as the brothers ran after me, trying to find my exact location but I wouldn't let them get me so easily. Soon we arrived at the cemetery, and I hid behind a tomb, watching them as they entered but Klaus stopped. Why was Elijah allowed to enter but Klaus was not?
"Come in," I said and disappeared before Klaus could catch me, he sighed tired of my little game of hide and seek.
"Why do you hide in the shadows?" He asked waiting for me to appear but I did not, I stayed in my exact spot. Watching, waiting to see what they would do next. I whistled again and followed the sound of Sophie's breathing; she was nearby probably putting her sister to rest. When I entered the tomb, I spotted Sophie pacing the room, she stopped when she saw me.
"You were never going to tell me, were you?" I asked as Klaus and Elijah slowly walked towards me. They saw my white hair and knew it was me instantly. "Your sister brought them back to town, why?"
Tumblr media
"We needed help Kiley, with your grimoire stolen we had no choice. "
"Your grimoire was stolen? "Elijah questioned, both of them knew how important it was. "By who?" He growled.
"Marcel," I whispered, turning to face them and for the first time, my eyes met his, my beloveds. He reached out for me, caressing my cheek lightly, then suddenly he pulled me closer. Taking in my scent he cried, he missed me so much just as I missed him. I let my guard down and wrapped my arms around him taking him in.
Tumblr media
Elijah watched us in silence like his heart was broken; I held out my hand for him, he took it with a smile but he still looked upset.
"Good your both here, I need your help." Sophie cuts in trying to get our attention, hesitantly we both pulled away but he kept his arm tightly around me. He looked deep into my eyes, memorizing my face after all these years. I could tell he had so many questions about how I was still alive and where I have been.
"Y/n perhaps you should leave..." Elijah tugged on my arm but my focus went to the brunette woman who was brought in, she was born under the moon.
Tumblr media
"Y/n come." I looked to Eli who was desperately trying to get me to leave but Klaus pushed him away.
"I just got her back and you're already trying to take her away?" Klaus snarled standing in front of me protectively.
"Niklaus, you will see her in a little while. What is going to be said next is a...sensitive topic."
"Hayley is pregnant with Klaus's child." Sophie blurted trying to get things moving, I looked to Hayley, so this was his new lover...And she is with child? Elijah sighed but kept his eyes on me, and I was angry beyond words. I looked to my supposed husband who loved me, who still cared for me and promised to never lay with another even if he lost me.
"So, after all these years of me begging and pleading to you for a child, you impregnate someone else...not only that you...slept with another?" I pulled away from him, and the look on his face broke me, he didn't seem to care, he just...he said nothing. "I knew it...you denied it so many times but I knew it! You despised me! That's why you didn't want a child!" I cried out, he tried to explain saying he knew nothing, and grabbed my arm but I swung my right arm. Punching him right in the jaw, his head went to the side. Elijah tried to calm me but I shrugged off his hand and walked out crying all the way home.
~~~
"Im sorry this happened." Elijah appeared, looking at my small sniffling self on the balcony. "He didn't do it on purpose, nor does he despise you. As the witches explained it, his wolf side is still human, and Hayley being a wolf-"
"I know how it works," I whispered, sighing he sat down next to me, thinking of what to say.
"I know you're beyond angry, after so many years of wanting one and he refused...he still doesn't want one. And I know you'll hate me for this, but I need you to convince him to help. He will help you, but he wants the baby dead and Hayley he won't save them from the witches."
"She is not my problem Elijah, convince him yourself."
"He won't listen to me; he believes that if the baby dies you will forgive him for betraying you...If you do this for me, I will convince him to give you a child of your own-"
"Enough about it! He will never say yes! He will say no and I will never have the children I want that belongs to me. Instead, I'll be the stepmother to a child I despise..." I cried, he pulled me into his chest, rubbing my shoulder to make me feel better. He knew I was right, Klaus never wanted children, a sign of weakness he told me, a waste of time.
"Then I will give you a child of your own..." He replied, but once he realized what he said he desperately tried to change the topic. "You don't have to be a stepmother, no one asked you to take up that responsibility. All I ask is that you save this girl and her child, the witches will kill her if Klaus does not agree." I wanted to refuse, I wanted to say no and let the bitch die but it's not her fault that this happened. She probably didn't even know about me and the history I have with the original hybrid.
"I will talk to him, but after I save her and get my grimoire back...I am heading home." His eyes teared up, he knew what that meant, that I would never be coming back. I had frozen my world and left them all behind to marry a man I loved. Though I should have never turned my back on my tribe, nor should I have stolen their power. I was tired of this family, always being the one left behind, the number one plan. I was just a pawn to them, especially to Klaus.
"Of course, just don't tell Niklaus. He will be devastated and may go back on his word."
"...I promise." Hesitantly after the little chat with Elijah, I headed to the witches' quarter to find Klaus sitting on a bench leaned forward with his hands tangled together. His nose was bloody, I guess I had hit him harder than I thought. "Klaus." He shot up and walked towards me hoping that I came back to cave in like I normally did but I backed away this time.
"I didn't mean for this to happen..." He sniffled while stopping in his tracks, "I swear it, I didn't mean to get her pregnant! "
"Well, you did..." He looked down ashamed of what he had done. "And now you have to keep it, you have a responsibility."
"...You want me to keep it?" He wasn't surprised by my request; I've always wanted a small child of our own though he always denied me it. A weakness to the family with a thousand enemies, he was right of course but everyone was a weakness, a baby made no difference. "It'll be a liability to this family; would this child guarantee me power?  Can it protect our family?"
"Family is power, haven't you learned that already? After a thousand years of us constantly saving our family, we have always won. Everyone is a weakness in the family; a baby may be more fragile but there is not much difference. You are the original hybrid; we are the original family! We have all the power in the world, you have no excuse to not take this baby."
"People will come for us-" I sighed and with a fit of rage I slapped him across the face, making him go silent. He slowly looked back at me, surprised I had struck him again.
"No! They'll come for you! It's always been about you! Your always so worried about what will happen to you! So shut up get your head out of your ass and go protect the child that you made during your affair!" He was not happy, finally, I had the strength to stand up to him, I wasn't so innocent anymore. Ever since my grimoire had been stolen, I realized I had to become stronger and take a stand instead of being silent like I used to.
"Stop hitting me-"
"What? You'll shove me in a box? Put me away like the rest of your siblings, I'd like to see you try." I turned away, I was going to let him stand there and think about what I said but he grabbed my arm pulling me into his embrace.
"I would never hurt you...ever." I accepted it, and to be honest I didn't want to let go.
Tumblr media
"I understand you're angry and feel betrayed, but as do I. How do I think I felt when I learned you were still alive- "
"And? That was one heartbreak, I've dealt with a thousand by you." He took a step back and shook his head. "I had to run for a thousand years because you begged me to marry you, I left my family behind for one I barely knew! I became this monster because of your mother! And then I asked for a child, a sign of weakness for the thousand enemies we have well who's fault is that Klaus!" Tears slipped down my skin, and never have I ever seen him so broken, so...speechless. "I didn't ask for this, I married you, but I didn't sign up for this nightmare of a life. Neither did that child, but I hope you give it a better life than I did, and maybe you'll keep your promise this time."
Chapter 10: A lovely bond
Chapter 11: Unexpected Betrayal
I resealed the door, drawing the same pattern as before to lock it in place. I was going to miss this little cave, for more memories than I ever could imagine happened here. I ran my fingers over my newly designed dwarven braid, after Thorin saw the one I made he decided to redo my braid into a dwarven rose. It was incredibly beautiful, I don't think I'd ever want to take it out.
"Well, you owe me a tooth." Kili wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we headed to the shifter's home. For he had more supplies that we needed, especially some from my home that we have supplied him with. "I found your courter, I will say I am surprised that it was my uncle. I never believed he could feel that way towards you, but now I understand why he didn't want you to think about marriage."
"Oh really? And why is that?"
"He didn't want you to marry anyone else but him, I guess that means we get to call you auntie now. Auntie Y/n, rolls off the tongue doesn't it?"
"Although I'm glad that my uncle has warmed up to you, why would you want to be with someone who hurt you more than once?" Fili came close to my right, giving me a curious look. I didn't know why I loved Thorin, all he has ever done was make me feel sad. Did I fall in love because I wanted a person that didn't want me?
"I don't know the answer to that Fili, I have no idea why I fell in love with him. Thought I'm glad I did, for he has made me feel something I haven't felt in years." My gaze trailed over to the King who is staring back at me with a soft smile, my heart fluttered. As we made our way to the shifter's home, I rejoined my beloved who led the company.
"Thorin." I greeted, making him glance over at me with the same grin from earlier.
"Good morning amralime, I was beginning to worry you were ignoring me. For you haven't said a thing to me all morning."
"I was busy helping the others pack their things, for some reason they kept bowing as I approached." They had never done that before, and to me it was weird they would treat me such way. It became highly annoying, I had to keep reminding them that they didn't have to do that.
"You are my betrothed, soon you will be the Queen under the mountain. They have recognized you as one of their own, and accepted you as their Queen."
"I've done nothing to prove I'm a good leader, how could they call me such?"
"They first started to admire you when you asked for me to set your people free if you fell. Then you protected us in the Goblin tunnels, and when we were fighting the trolls. Even when you left, you still came back, you showed loyalty. And that's all they can ever ask for, it's all I can ask for." He slipped his arm around my waist pulling me closer to him, that look of adoration now had a permanent place on his features. Yet the small romantic moment came to an end, darkness appeared behind us, an orc pack was not far behind.
"Thorin." The look on my face was obvious, he shouted to the others to get their weapons ready. "This way!" I led them far into the forest, and soon we made our way onto Beorn's land. We ran across the field, the Orcs hot on our heels stop when they hear the creature roaring close by. We rushed to his house with the insanely large bear traveling behind us, quickly I unlocked the door letting everyone in. The creature lunges its head through it, and we all push to close the door. After being slightly injured by the pressure of the gate, Beorn finally moves his head and we manage to shut and lock the entrance.
"What is that?" Ori asked turning to me and the great grey wizard that stood beside me.
"That is our host," Gandalf explained as my focus went to Thorin, who was leaning on the door tiredly. He held his side, I reached forward and pulled away his cloak to see that he was bleeding slightly. "His name is Beorn, he’s a skin-changer. Sometimes he’s a huge black bear, sometimes he’s a great strong man. The bear is unpredictable, but the man can be reasoned with. However, he is not overly fond of dwarves."
"Come, let me fix your bandage." I let Thorin lean on me slightly, slowly I set him down on a nearby stool as the rest of the dwarves questioned if Beorn's abilities were dark magic or not. As Thorin slipped off his top clothing I grabbed a herb from my homeland that we had given to Beorn which he rarely ever uses. It's more of a 'just in case' necessity, good thing he has it.
"What is that?" Thorin took the red egg-like plant from my hand, examining it.
"It's called Arigonis, the juice inside has healing properties, it's a very rare plant. Well was, but we found a way to grow it, it'll heal your injuries all the way. However it will take time, a hour or so tops so don't scratch at it no matter how much it itches." I brought over a small bowl with water within, kneeling in front of him I took the plant and broke it apart. Using the juice and skin, I made this paste-like substance to put on his injuries. He had already taken his bandages off and discarded them to the side. When I looked up to cover him in the red-like paint, our faces were close, it was hard not to kiss him though I hardly doubt he would mind. I got to work in covering him with the herb, and it didn't take long before he went to scratch at it. "Hey, no don't do that." I slap his hand away playfully, he groans in frustration.
"It itches."
"That's how you know it's working, but if you scratch at it your wound won't heal all the way." He wants to scratch it badly, his fingers dug into his thigh so he wouldn't be tempted. Once I was done covering him in the agitating red paste, I washed my hands before making my way back over to him. I removed his hands from his thighs and made him focus on me. I was nervous, for I had never sang in front of anyone before but I figured it would help. I took a deep breath, keeping my gaze to the floor. "Wind howls in my hair, the world stops when you come this near. Starlight on your skin, the sky sways as you pull me in. And I, I wanna swim in your ocean. I wanna know how to love again, Ooh take me into your arm, sirens call, how fast I fall. Beneath your waves, no storm can take my eyes from you." Everyone turned to me, listening as I sang the song my mother used to hum to me when I was a child. "Crash down to my knees, their fears and hopes flood over me.
Your hand finds my own and shows me that I'm not alone. Now I, I'm diving deep in your ocean, I see the way to redemption, Ooh.
Take me into your arms, sirens call, how fast I fall. Beneath your waves, no storm can take
my eyes from you." All gathered around to listen as I sang the vocals, while others closed their eyes to sleep to the sound.
"Y/n." Thorin rested his hand upon my cheek, making me lean into his touch with a need to feel it. His eyes shined with a lovable glare, for he was stunned at my sudden talent.
"Take me into your arms, sirens call, how fast I fall. Beneath your waves, no storm can take
my eyes from you." (Song called Into Your Arms by Ryan Louder & Serena). Thorin's lips found it's way to mine, the rough skin made me crave more but we can only do so much in front of the others.
"You should sing more often." He gave me a pleading look, I rolled my eyes and retrieved another bandage to wrap around his torso.
"Perhaps I will, but for now you need to rest."
"Sing me to sleep, my Queen?" I kissed his forehead, smiling at his request. His hands landed on my waist pulling me in, but he kept me away just far enough where I wouldn't mess up the paste.
"Anything for you my King."
~♪♠♪~
My arms rested around the dwarven man, his hair tickling my nose slightly. Ever since we had proclaimed our love to each other he's been wanting me to sleep by his side. Which of course I was willing to do, but it made me think. How long would I have a moment like this? Surely the other dwarven kingdoms would want him to marry someone suitable, though maybe I am suitable. Once we get those reports and it's shown to the world that my kin is innocent they wouldn't be able to turn down an alliance with the Queen of the Digonisks.
"You seem deep in thought." Thorin's voice rumbled, a shiver ran down my spine at the sudden vibration.
"Have you been watching me this entire time?" He shifted onto his side, those beautiful blue orbs meeting mine.
"No, but I can tell when your asleep and when your not. And when you think deeply about certain things you tend to frown or smile. Today you did both." His thumb caressed my cheek, a gesture to make sure I was alright. "What is it amralime?"
"After this quest, and my kin goes free, won't your people want you to marry someone suitable?"
"You are suitable, there is evidence that digonisks are innocent. Once the humans and the rest of my people realize their mistake, they'll do anything to make their wrongs a right."
"...What if the scrolls aren't there? What if we never find them, will you still love me?"
"Of course." He seemed hurt that I began to doubt his feelings, a determined look appeared. He leaned forward and pecked my lips, but it soon became a more passionate kiss. Luckily we were in one of the empty stables for privacy, or the others would be grossed out. His arms wrapped tightly around me, I settled on top of him and straddle his waist. His bandages remained on his chest, for I had forgotten to take them off last night yet his wounds should be healed all the way now. With a smirk he flipped us over, his muscular figure now above my own.
"We're gonna get caught."
"Let them see." He goes to kiss me again but a loud fake gag was heard from behind him.
"No don't them see." Kili covered his eyes along with his brother, I gave Thorin an 'I told you so' look. "We came to tell you breakfast has been made." They quickly scurried away, sighing Thorin stood and we headed to the dining room. Everyone is sat at a table being served breakfast by Beorn, whose eyes widened when he saw me.
"Y/n." He nods his head slightly as a greeting, but a frown comes upon his features. "What are you doing here with a bunch of dwarves? Shouldn't you be in-" He stopped talking, for he did not want to give away our hidden home.
"No, I've been helping these men for the past few months. Don't worry Beorn they know, and they've accepted me." I stood in front of Thorin, undoing the white cloth that had been around his torso for far too long.
"If your here then who's running things?"
"Lani, my handmaiden why is there something wrong?"
"I've received word from your people that I must pay tribute for the Arigonis. They want me to cut wood so they can collect it." I stopped, pay tribute? I've never had him pay tribute before and Lani knows that, besides it's not that rare of a plant anymore.
"And if you refuse?"
"They wouldn't supply me with it anymore, and if I continue to refuse they threatened to imprison me. At first, I was angry for I never expected this out of you but seeing you now showed me that you had nothing to do with it." Imprisonment? That was nothing like my kin, what was going on while I was away?
"Who gave the order?"
"Fenris delivered me the scroll explaining how things were going to be handled from now on. Though I don't think it was him." There was no way Lani would take control like this, she was an innocent girl, right? Or was she abusing the power I gave her? Maybe it was a misunderstanding, that's not like her, she can barely ask me for something. "They're coming later to receive my answer, they should be here in a few-" Before he could finish his answer there was pounding on the door, well speak of the devil.
"Thorin wipe off the paste, I'll be back." Angrily I opened the barn door to see Fenris, the commander of my armies who immediately bowed along with the rest of his group.
"My Queen! I did not realize you were here."
"I did not realize someone gave the order to threaten my friend, who ordered that Beorn would have to give up his wood for the herb?"
"Well, you did my Queen." I was taken aback, and I could hear gasps behind me. The dwarves watched as I went from angry to absolutely furious.
"I gave no such command, for I haven't been in contact with anyone for quite some time. Where did you hear about this?"
"Lani showed us the paper you supposedly signed, that anyone we give supplies to must pay tribute in return and if not, they shall be imprisoned or worse...be sentenced to death."
Chapter 9: Love Vs Rage
Chapter 10: A lovely Bond
My hand clasped over my mouth at the words I had spoken, I didn't mean for it to come out. It was as if on instinct, but Thorin didn't seem to mind, he didn't take his eyes off me. And for the first time since the beginning of this trip, I saw love and adoration in those ocean blue orbs. His cheeks turned light pink at my comment, slowly he stood his chest almost against mine.
"You love me?" He muttered, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "How can you love me amralime?" It was him, the same rough voice from earlier, he is the one who called me that.
"I don't know, but when I'm around you, your who my heart belongs to. It's why I left because I thought my feelings were getting in the way. I thought love was getting in the way but it was rage, I can't blame you no matter how much I want to. And I admire your bravery and courage, but throughout this quest, each piece of my heart had attached itself to you. Maybe it was your leadership or your kind words, or maybe it was something entirely different but I'm positive about one thing Myis Ravos (My raven), I love you. And...I forgive you." Tears rolled down his cheeks as he held in a sob the best he could but failed. His strong arms wrapped around me and he nuzzled his face into my neck.
"I love you too...Promise you won't leave again, promise me that we'll stay together no matter how hard this journey gets. Cause losing you just for a few hours broke me, I didn't want to move. I didn't want to do anything without you by my side." My hands slid up his back, but before I could enjoy the warm hug from him I felt his wound.
"I will if you promise to let me treat your injuries." He chucked but groaned as it hurt his chest, I helped him sit back down. The rag in my hand ran over his skin again, wiping away the blood and dirt from the surface. "Promise me you won't be so reckless, I don't know what I would do if I lost you." He grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles lightly.
"Same goes for you." I couldn't help but smile, I didn't feel angry anymore. I felt loved and happy, I haven't felt like this in a long time. I kept cleaning the blood off, and when I was finished I took a step back to see if I missed anything.
"Alright, get into the bath I'll bring some lathers." As he begins to undress I rummaged through the basket of pink and purple bars, none was a manly type of smell but I highly doubt he would mind. "I have lavender, and cherry but beware both will make you smell like a woman." He laughed and turned around in the pool, the ends of his hair were now wet. I had this weird feeling to get in there with him, my legs rubbed together in excitement. Quickly I dismissed the thought and handed him the soaps but before I turned away he clutched my arm.
"Join me, for I am not able to flex my body like I'm used to. I believe I acquire assistance, I might just miss a spot." His fingers reach to the hem of my shirt, slowly undoing the ribbon tying it together.
"You've been bathing yourself for many years Thorin, I think you can handle this on your own." I didn't stop him from sliding my shirt down my shoulders, nor when he started to undo my bindings.
"I won't look if that's what you worried about, I trust my men but they sometimes can't help but let their eyes wander. I don't want them to see you bare." His touch leaves me, and he looks away so I'd be more open to the idea of joining him. He did have a point, I care for these dwarves but sometimes urges can take over. I shed the rest of my clothes, letting them join his that remained on the stone. He tensed up for a second as he felt the water move, he knew I was in now. "Lavender?" He held out the bar of soap, which I gladly took from him. His breathing became more rapid, he was nervous for I was too close.
"Nervous my king?" I said sarcastically as I ran the soap over his back, he leaned into my touch like it was heavenly.
"A little, I've never been in the presence of such a beautiful woman." He glanced back at me for a moment before turning forward again, he really wanted to look. "The things I said before, I didn't mean them, I meant something entirely different. At first, I was just being rude, but over time I fell for you. When I called you weak and a burden, I wanted you to go home for I do not wish to see you hurt. And when I called you a whore, it was because I was jealous of the stares the rest were giving you." Elrond was right, this entire time he loved me, but what about what he said at the bridge? Is this all just a plan to make me help him?
"And what about the bridge, when you were talking to Dwalin?"
"I knew you heard, at the moment I was trying to push you away. I too was afraid of what my feelings would bring, but when I noticed the rest started to be protective of you I realized they had accepted you as one of their own. I truly do love you, Uslukhuê kurdu, (Dragon of my heart). And I do not wish to push away my feelings any longer. If I may ask, will you let me court you?" I smiled at his offer, now that I think about it he was the one who courted me. The one who gave me more food in my bowl than the others.
"I believe you've already had, but I accept your offer Thorin." He sighed in relief, but something else remained on his mind.
"May I turn around? There is something I wish to do." I hummed in response and slowly he faced me, he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to my lips which I returned. "You are mine amralime, and no one can take you from me."
~♪♠♪~
After we cleaned up, I made sure that Thorin had a new pair of clothes that was stowed away in one of the chests after I bandaged his torso. The rest took their pick of the pile, and what surprised me was that they enjoyed the design upon the cloth.
"Y/n," Thorin called with a brush and a small silver bead in hand. He sat down next to me on a stool with his legs spread apart. Without another word, I sat between them, and he began to brush my hair softly. "This is the reason we dwarves keep our hair long, so our lover can braid it. It's a symbol showing that we're taken, and I'm glad I get to share it with you. What about you? What are your counting rituals?"
"We don't have much, it's normal human ways of courting. Gifting each other with flowers and chocolates, the only different thing is the wedding. When two of my kin want to marry, they need to get permission from either the King or Queen. We may have a huge kingdom but we treat it like a small town. If they receive permission then a wedding is planned, the entire kingdom will be there to see it. You'll have your party where you mingle with guests before you do the private ceremony of the night." He brushed my hair back towards him while running his fingers through it, I leaned back slightly enjoying the sensation.
"What is the private ceremony?"
"The private ceremony seems like nonsense, but it's very important. If the two wish to go through with it, they will have a bowl of paint infused with the blood of a royal. You need the blood of a royal to make it work, but each one will paint its markings on the other. It's a private ceremony because both of the two are going to be bare when this happens, after the painting is in place they will make a promise and the paint is now infused with their skin." Setting down the brush he grabbed a lock of my hair and started to braid it, he seemed focused like it was a masterpiece.
"What happens if they break that promise?"
"It depends on the situation, if one chooses to break their promise on purpose, the one who broke the promise is not allowed to marry again. For the marking burns into their skin, that way each digonisk knows that they are not to be intimate with anyone ever again. The other who remained faithful are allowed to remarry, for the symbols will disappear. However if one breaks it by accident, say a life or death situation and it is proven to be true there is a spell that the royal can cast to remove them." I looked up at him for a second, a smirk on my face as he looks down at me in slight horror.
"Still wish for me to be yours?" That look of fear was wiped off instantly, he kissed my forehead and tilted my head back up so he could finish his braid.
"That is one way to keep someone loyal, maybe my kin should have something like that. Although yes, I wish to still be with you, until death does us part." He holds out the braid he finished. "Hold it for me." I carefully grabbed the end with my fingers as he goes to braid another lock on the other side.
"What kind of braid is this?"
"Well you have to defeat Smaug, so this braid will help you keep your hair out of your face."
"Is it true that once your hair is braided you can never take it out again?"
"Only your other can take it out and fix it, if you do it yourself it shows you do not care about the courtship. Which once I'm done, you will braid my hair as the process states."
"And I can braid it in any way I want?" A mischievous smile came across my features, which he chuckled for he knew what I was doing.
"Anyway, you want." He grabs the braid that rested between my fingers and intertwined the two together.
"Interesting, perhaps I'll braid it in front of your face to give you a longer beard."
"If I die because of my inability to see I blame you." He clipped my hair with the bead and kissed my temple while wrapping his arms around me. "Who knew you were such a prankster, I think my nephews are a bad influence for you."
"Oh please you haven't seen anything yet, back in the kingdom of Larthas I was constantly scolded by my parents for always leaving presents for the maids. One time, I put a bucket of mud on the top of her door, and let's just say she wasn't happy. It took her hours to get the mud out of her hair." He laughed as we switched places, his hand stroked my leg gently. I summoned an ethereal bead making it into a solid object, on it there lied a dragon symbol.
"So what braid are you thinking of?" I wanted it to be special, something that showed it could only be made by me.
"Choose a color."
"Red (Or whatever color you prefer)." I conjured a red ribbon and began to braid his hair. (I'll leave that up to you guys, but I would do something like this.)
Tumblr media
Everyone's jaws dropped at my handiwork, especially Thorin, the moment he got up and looked in the mirror his heart stopped.
"How on earth did you manage to do that?" His eyes lit up with excitement but I could feel the jealousy radiating off of him. He traced the design, he almost couldn't stop staring at it. "Never mind that, come back over here I'll show what I can really do with that h/c hair of yours."
Chapter 8: An Unexpected Journey
Chapter 9: Love vs Rage
"You can't leave! What about your people? Who will set them free?" Gandalf rushed forward as I walked towards the edge, my wings spread out far and wide ready to take flight.
"I will, but I will not do it while apart of this group." Gandalf saw that there was a hidden meaning in my eyes, he turned back to the company.
"Give us a moment will you?" Thorin hesitated for a second, he was afraid this was the last time he'd ever see me. Yet he turned and guided the rest of them down the cliff, he muttered about making camp soon. "I was not aware that he killed your mother, but think about the rest of the dwarves. They need your help, if not for Thorin for them, for Fili and Kili."
"Thorin killed my mother Gandalf, and my feelings are getting in the way."
"Feelings?" He arched a brow and leaned closer, but took a deep breath when he realized what I meant. "You're in love with him."
"He needs to pay for what he has done, but if my love for him gets in the way of that what will that show my people?"
"It will show them that you are just like her, your people are the peacekeepers of the world. Your love is not getting in the way, it's your anger. Your clouded by rage that you think punishing him is the right thing to do, but remember he did not know the truth." I looked down at my hands, Gandalf was right, I wanted to punish Thorin. I wanted him dead, I wanted him to feel the same pain and anger as I do but like my mother he's innocent.
"I do not see how you think this is easy Gandalf, you don't understand how I feel."
"Oh but my dear you are wrong, dwarves are messy, agitating, stubborn, and greedy at times. And the choice that they made to attack your people was wrong, it angered me to my core, for I cared greatly for your father. He was almost like a brother to me, but once I learned that the dwarves had been mislead it was easy to forgive them. They did not understand that all of it was a lie, and that's why I forgave them. They were innocent and protecting their people like they were inspired to do. Don't let your rage for Thorin get in the way, let your love take over and forgive him. For he might feel the same." I looked up at the great wizard, he was close with my father, we considered Gandalf as part of the family but he will never understand the bond between me and my mother.
"Thorin could never love me, after the way I have been treated this entire journey he could care less. Because of Thorin, my mother will never see me get married, she'll never see my children, she'll never see them grow old and have kids of their own. She'll never get the chance to help me control my powers, all because of him. I came on this journey for one thing Gandalf, and that was to save my people."
"Yet you don't have a way into the mountain without Thorin, he won't give you the key. And if you break-in, you'll wake Smaug!"
"Isn't that my purpose? To kill him, he'll be too focused on me to head on to the outside world. I am a Digonisk, and this is what we do, we kill dragons. I will stand here no longer, I have had enough."
"You have signed a contract, you are bound to stay."
"It's a piece of paper Gandalf, it means nothing to me."
"It meant something to Thorin and the rest of the dwarves, you asked Thorin to help you save your people if you fall. And he was willing to keep that promise, he still is, the thing is are you?" My gaze fell to the dwarves who were setting up camp down below, and from afar I could see Thorin staring back up at me. No one was attending to his wounds, wasn't Oin the healer? Why isn't he taking care of him? He's bleeding out, and those injuries need to be cleaned and bandaged. Gandalf follows to whom I was staring at, and he smiled for he knew what 'their' king was up to but I remained clueless. "I believe they're waiting for you." Every dwarf was looking up at me now, watching to see if I would leave or stay. My decision had been made, and that was final. I stretched my wings once more and stood closer to the edge.
"Goodbye Gandalf." I let my feet take one more step, and falling off the edge my wings caught the wind. I glided fast across the skies, leaving the company behind as a tear slipped down my cheek. It hurt, there was a pang in my heart, I couldn't make out the feeling but the more I was farther away the more I felt like something was missing.
~♪♠♪~
I didn't stop until late at night, it was no longer morning and I had gotten closer to the mountain than I thought. I was close to Beorn's home, we met once or twice while my people saved his. For he was just like us, an outcast and an enemy, but once I took a step onto his land I stopped. Something was wrong I just knew it, I couldn't go back, even if I did they wouldn't accept me back into their arms. I sat down on a rock for a second, I hadn't thought this through. Gandalf was right my rage was in the way, not my love, but now something else was too. My heart stung but I felt numb, it was like my body was mentally tired. I couldn't blame myself, a lot has happened in the last few days. Perhaps a break would help, at least so I thought, that's when I sensed it. Dark magic skittering by me from the west, and into the south, but that's where I just came from wasn't it? It's not the shifter, his magic isn't dark but it could be orcs. I flapped my wings and flew to the skies again, searching high above, retracing my path. That's when I spotted an orc pack being led by Azog himself running towards the direction of the company, they were pretty far from us so it would take the orcs a while to reach the camp. Though traveling with Thorin he wouldn't let his men rest for that long, they're most likely back on the road now. Could they be closer than I thought? As much as I hated to admit it but I had to warn them, or I could take out the orc pack myself and avoid that plan altogether. Shouting was vaguely heard from my left, now it came from the south. I stopped in midair, searching my surroundings I spotted two things, Beorn in his bear form and a little farther off small thing moving in the distance. Was it an animal? It looked familiar to me somehow, flying closer I got a better look, and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Thorin and the company, Thorin still hadn't been bandaged from what I could see. What was he waiting for? Death? If he keeps traveling like that he'll surely die soon, or maybe they didn't have any medical supplies. Right, when we were attacked by the orcs the ponies bolted, and they had the supplies Thorin needs.
"You really are getting on my nerves Thorin Oakenshield," I muttered flying down to them once the coast was clear, the dwarves were shouting about where to go next and I had just the place for now. I landed in front of them, making everyone raise their weapons, but once they realized it was me they smiled especially their King.
"I knew you would return." Thorin stepped forward, the sword that once was tightly in hand now loose. He was getting weaker than before, but those eyes showed hope and he had received what he had been waiting for.
"There is an orc pack not far, Azog is determined to catch you. Come I have a place we can stay for the night, and don't tell anyone where you found it." The dwarves did not hesitate to follow, they were pretty eager to follow me down the mountainside and into a small abandoned covered garden. To them, they spotted a plain wall, but to me, it was a large door covered in the runes of my language. I placed my hand upon the stone and sliding my hand in a certain pattern it began to glow. We had these everywhere across middle earth, it was a precaution we took just in case our kin needed a place to stay. "Ponen tis doro, adnin lete ti ebenis hemo. (Open this door, and let it be home)."
"Can it be?" Gandalf smiled as the door slid back, and rolled open to reveal a beautiful large cave, I stepped to the side letting each dwarf step through. Each took their time examining the carvings on the wall, the paint that lit up in the dark as well as the glowing water in the very back. Once everyone was inside I closed the door, letting it seal shut so no enemies would be able to enter. "Ah, the caves of Larthas, I have never seen one in person but I knew they existed."
"Rest for the night, you have a long journey ahead of you." The dwarves began to set up camp with the supplies that remained inside. "Bathe if you need to, there are two hot springs, and don't eat anything. They aren't food that's soap." Bofur slowly lowered a pink bar of lavender from his lips, but he shoved it into his pocket for his bathe that he practically ran to take. I laughed at his silliness, I didn't realize how much I was going to miss them. Especially the one king who sat on a stone chair, taking a breath from the walk he had today. If he didn't get cleaned soon, those wounds would become more than just injuries. The infection will kill him, reluctantly I walked over making his eyes light up at my presence. "Come." I held out my hand towards him, and surprisingly he took it. I led him to the other private bathing chambers inside while grabbing medical supplies on the way. "Sit." I pushed him on a small stool, and slowly I drenched the rag in the hot water. Ringing it out slightly, I ran it over his neck, cleaning the soon-to-be scars I had inflicted. He grabbed my hand gently, stopping my hand from doing anything else.
"Leave it, I do not deserve to be tended to." I grabbed his chin a tilted it upwards carefully.
"And you don't deserve me helping you but here were are." I smiled to let him know I was joking, which he returned, he let me run the rag next to his punctured skin. The blood didn't come off all that easy, but I tried to be as gentle as I could.
"Why did you come back?"
"I sensed the orcs from a few miles to the west, they thought they could slide by but nothing can get past me. When I realized they were headed in your direction I planned on taking them out, until I saw you. You still hadn't been taken care of, and I knew you wouldn't last long. Though want to tell me why no one offered their clothes as a rag?" He kept silent, his gaze was focused on the water that had steam rising from it. I made him look at me, when his eyes gazed into mine he couldn't help but have a frown.
"As I said, I do not deserve it, I hurt you. I'm the reason you were made to leave, and this entire time on this trip I treated you harshly. The injuries reminded me of you, they are what I deserve for what I have done. I don't understand why your helping the one who betrayed you the most."
"Because I love you."
Chapter 7: The Heart Betrays
Chapter 8: An Unexpected Journey
My eyes wouldn't open, but the daylight was covering me, engulfing me in its warmth. It was like my eyes were open, but I could see those tiny bits of neverending darkness.
"Amralime..." A voice whispered, it was vaguely heard but I could hear the word. I felt their warm hand holding onto my hand tightly. "Open your eyes...please." They sobbed, Kili? Could it be? My eyelids fluttered, and when I was finally able to force them open I spotted 13 dwarves staring at me in concern. Along with a worried Wizard, who was kneeling to check on me.
"Well by my beard, never did I believe we'd see The Soul of The Black Dragon ever again." The Soul of The Black Dragon was the significance of the royal bloodline, every princess or prince would have it passed down to them during their coronation. I was called The Soul of The Black Dragon, but I never realized I had that ability. Yet the citizens of my kingdom still believed I had that power, no matter how much I told them that it was never passed down.
"I don't understand, my mother never passed it on. She died with it, there's no way I have it." And she's dead thanks to Thorin, he stood a few feet away, not looking in my direction.
"She must've done it while you were unconscious." Right, Gandalf found me underneath the rubble of the grand ballroom. We rarely ever used it, but it was big enough for all races to fit in. Yet it was only just a trap, and as the explosions went off the building came crashing down. When me and my mother were alone, I knew she was dying but she couldn't bear to let me see her last breath. So she hid me under the rocks to hide me from our enemies and used her magic to send me to sleep. When I awoke, she was nowhere to be found. "Don't worry you'll learn full control of your power soon enough, transforming for the first time is always the hardest." I glanced over to the worried dwarf, the one with dark brown eyes. He kneeled next to me, hesitant about laying a hand on me, he probably thought I was injured.
"Kili..." My hand rested on his cheek, he leaned into my touch, covering my hand with his. For some reason, he was oddly quiet, was something wrong? "Are you alright?" Rage was filled within his eyes, but not at me, at someone else. Was he the one called amralime? No, their voice was rougher than his...
"I'm alright...are you?" I nodded and he pulled me into the tightest hug he could muster.
"Five, six, seven, eight. Bifur, Bofur, that’s ten. Fili, Kili, Y/n that’s thirteen. And Bombur, that makes fourteen." I heard Gandalf count, he was making sure we were all here. "Where’s Bilbo? Where is our hobbit? Where is our hobbit?!" Bilbo wasn't here? I thought as Kili helped me to my feet, most of my weight was leaning on him.
"Did any of you see him?" I asked, and Bifur nodded with a look of betrayal.
"I think I saw him slip away when they first collared us."
"What happened exactly? Tell me!" Gandalf demanded rushing forward, Thorin only scoffed.
"I’ll tell you what happened. Master Baggins saw his chance and he took it! He’s thought of nothing but his soft bed and his warm hearth since first he stepped out of his door. We will not be seeing our hobbit again, he is long gone." No, Bilbo wouldn't leave us he signed a contract, there's no way. That's when I got a weird feeling, like darkness that's watching, something that doesn't belong. Which is exactly when our hobbit came out from behind a tree.
"No, he isn’t." Bilbo smiled, all the dwarves are surprised and look glad to see him. I looked to Gandalf, Bilbo was carrying something dark, darker than anything else I've been able to sense.
"Bilbo Baggins. I’ve never been so glad to see anyone in my life." Gandalf exclaimed ignoring my look, he didn't believe me.
"Bilbo, we’d given you up!" Kili chimed in, a bright smile on his features.
"How on earth did you get past the goblins?" His brother asked, and the other dwarves began to wonder as well. Bilbo does a nervous laugh then puts his hand in his pocket where a small object lies, could it be? The one ring to rule them all? I had only heard it in stories, I never believed it could be real.
"Oh, what does it matter? He’s back." Gandalf grips his staff tightly, trying to dismiss the fact that Bilbo was doing a wrong.
"It matters. I want to know. Why did you come back?" Thorin asked, his eyes full of wonder.
"Look, I know you doubt me. I know…I know you always have. And you’re right, I often think of Bag End. I miss my books, and my armchair, and my garden. See, that’s where I belong. That’s home. And that’s why I came back, cause…you don’t have one. A home. It was taken from you, but I will help you take it back if I can." That made each dwarf smile, even me, I wish I had someone this determined to help me regain mine. That's when we heard a howl, Azog, and his warg army shows up seeing us upon the mountainside.
"We can never get a break now can we?" I muttered as the wargs began to chase us, as they came nearer I was able to kill a few with my bow. I was surprised I still had energy after what happened in the Goblin tunnels. We kept running, until we had gotten to the edge of the cliff, we were stuck.
"Up into the trees. All of you! Come on, climb! Bilbo, climb!" Gandalf ordered, Kili held out his hand to help me up, quickly as I could I climbed and pulled him up after me. We climbed even higher, we could hear more wargs howling as they prowl up to us. Kili held onto me tightly so I wouldn't fall as the wargs circle us underneath, waiting for us to come down.
"Do you think you could turn into a dragon again?" Kili wondered, gazing into my eyes with curiosity.
"Don't even try it! We are surrounded, we must save it for another time!" Gandalf shouted, how did he know so much about it?
"Oakenshield." A dark voice called, it was Azog the Defiler, he was a lot uglier in person. "~Do you smell it?~" He asked in his language. "~The scent of fear? I remember your father reeked of it, Thorin son of Thrain.~" He points to Thorin with a smirk. "~That one is mine. Kill the others! But save the girl! I have a feeling we'll need her.~" The wargs attack and start jumping up to catch the dwarves hanging off the trees. "~Drink their blood!~" The wargs manage to topple the trees over, impacting with the one we were on. Quickly we jumped to the other one near us, I let out a tiny squeak as my chest hit the branch. Out of nowhere, an on-fire pine cone lands on the ground. Gandalf was turning the pine cones into firebombs, throwing them at the wargs they start to back off. He lights up more cones and passes them to the rest.
"Fili!" Gandalf shouted tossing him one, and they start throwing fired-up cones at the wargs. I summoned my crossbow, and while holding on I shot as many as the eye could see. The wargs start to back away, making the dwarves cheer however the tree sags under our combined weight and starts to fall but hangs over the edge of the cliff. Besides me, the rest of the group are holding on to the branches of the tree for dear life.
"Thorin no!" I heard a voice yell, it seemed Thorin had decided to take on Azog alone.
"I won't let him take you." I heard Thorin whisper as he passed by, he glanced over at me one last time before charging forward with his sword and a shield of wood in his hands. He goes to attack Azog but is easily defeated, being crushed by the wargs mouth and is thrown aside making him fall unconscious. One orc went for Thorin, ready to slice off his head. As if on instinct I ran down the tree with a bow in hand and Bilbo at my side. He killed the orc who was ready to kill Thorin, I pointed my bow at everyone else. Giving them a warning to stay back, but Azog could careless.
"~Kill him but grab the girl.~" However that wasn't going to happen, cause as the orcs move in on us, the rest of the dwarves rush in to fight. Me and Kili fought side by side, back to back killing one after another. Azog pounced forward, headed straight for me but I shot a fire blast his way. Making him stop abruptly, that's when the Eagles arrived. With their talons, they grabbed each of us, then dropped us on top of other Eagles. My heart ached at Thorin's beaten figure, he was bleeding badly, not only from the whips mark but the wargs bite. I used my wings to fly over to him, holding onto the hawk's talons I checked on Thorin. He was still breathing but very faintly, he would have to be treated immediately once we land.
"Thorin," I called, placing my hand on his cheek. "Thorin stay with me, it's not your time to go." His eyes fluttered open for a second, but he was too exhausted to move. Soon we landed on a cliff, and my attention didn't leave the dwarven King. Gandalf shared my concern, and with his magic, he waved his hand over Thorin's face while muttering an incantation. Soon he woke, and his gaze immediately fell to me, he looked away for he was too ashamed of what he had done. My anger returned, I had let it slip from my mind, my love for him made me forget the crime he had committed. Did he call himself a man? He didn't have the balls to face me, his enemy, had he grown soft? The other dwarves tried to help him stand but he shrugged them off.
"Both of You! What were you doing?" Thorin looked between me and Bilbo, a fiery rage set in his eyes. "You nearly got yourself killed! Did I not say that you would be a burden? That you would not survive in the wild, and you had no place amongst us." He moves closer to us and embraces Bilbo in a hug. "I have never been so wrong, in all my life. But, I’m sorry I doubted you."
"No, I…I would have doubted me too." Bilbo chuckles nervously while pulling away from the hug. Thorin seemed a lot happier now, and so did Kili for that matter. "I’m not a hero, nor a warrior. Not even a burglar." So Thorin would acknowledge the hobbit but not me? Did he not see what I had done to save him? It was almost as if he heard my thoughts, for he glanced over in my direction and for the first time since last night he looked me in the eyes. His features said it all, he wanted to hug me, he wanted to feel me close to him but was afraid of what I would do. My heart said to run to him, get the affection I desired but my mind reminded me that he killed my mother. Yet Balin was right, he did not know the truth at that time, I should've expected this. For any of the other dwarves could've been apart of it, but they wouldn't kill innocent people.
"I hate you Thorin Oakenshield." Again his attention went away from me, he stared at the ground with a look of remorse. "I hate that you killed my mother, I hate that you killed my people. And as much as I want to blame you for what you have done, I can't. I know you wouldn't kill an innocent person, you would help them, at least I hope you would. Back then you were told something that wasn't true, and like any real King you protected your people." His eyes lit up with hope, those beautiful blue orbs reached mine, and he smiled. "I will never forgive you for what you've done, for I want your head on a spike. You deserve both the worst and the best. I will slay Smaug, and you will have your home returned to you. Though I have feelings that are getting in the way of the truth, it's distracting me...and that is why I am leaving the company."
Chapter 6: A confession
Chapter 7: The Heart Betrays
I lunged forward, my wings spread out like an animal challenging its prey. My eyes turning a fiery red, he fell back at my sudden outburst. The fearful look in his features made me more eager to rip out his throat. My hand came in contact with his neck, yet something happened that I hadn't expected. Claws had come out of the tips of my fingers, dragon claws, that's never happened before. Thought I didn't care, for now, there were 3 long cuts across his skin. Before I could do any more damage two strong arms grabbed my own, pulling me away from my enemy.
"LET ME GO!" I ordered but they did not release me, hot tears streamed down my cheeks. A few of the other dwarves stepped in front of their king who was frozen in shock. They desperately tried to get him out of my sight, for seeing him only made me more furious. "I'LL KILL YOU! I WILL BE YOUR END THORIN OAKENSHIELD!" Kili wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his chest while softly stroking my hair. That's when I broke down, I could handle Thorin's insults, his glares but the fact that he slaughtered my mother...that was something I could never forgive.
"Y/n I'-" Thorin tried to apologize but Kili's glare shut him right up.
"Shut up Thorin, you've done enough damage. Your lucky I don't let her go through with your execution." Fili growled, and the moment he loosened his grip I shot forward again, scaring Thorin once more. "Y/n stop!" I wanted him to feel pain, I wanted Thorin to feel the same anger as I have. "Killing uncle won't help, it'll only make the situation worse! You'll regret it afterward, remember your people are peacekeepers. Let's keep it that way, uncle leave! Your only making her angrier!" Thorin slowly fled to the back corner of the cave with a look of remorse, my anger stayed within me but it faded to the darker part of my mind. Now that their so-called king was out of my sight, I was able to calm down but my tears didn't stop flowing. Why would he tell me? I know I asked but why didn't he lie? Why did he have to break my heart more than it already is?
"I'm sorry Y/n," Kili whispered, holding me tightly, there was no way I was getting out of his grip now. "I didn't know, and if he wasn't my uncle I'd let you kill him."
"You have to understand, for he did not know the truth then. He was just a young lad, and all he could think about was saving his people." Balin leaned down, touching my knee to show he was no threat.
"He didn't save his people, he failed, if he wanted his people saved he should've gone after the orcs! Not my family! SHE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS! I HOPE YOUR LISTENING THORIN, INNOCENT PEOPLE'S BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS!" I sobbed, curling farther into Kili's chest, he pulled me closer. His shirt was now wet with my tears, but he could careless, the only thing he cared about was me.
"If you do not want to continue on this quest I understand. For I couldn't imagine being in the same room with the person who killed my family." He's right, I don't need them to get what I need, I could just fly there and leave them all behind. Though who would slay the dragon sleeping within? No, they don't deserve my help, they don't need it. If Thorin can kill my mother then he can kill a dragon on his own. But what about Kili and Fili? They were younger than everyone else, and if they died because of Smaug it would be my fault.
"I'll stay, but not for any of you. The only reason I'm staying is because of Fili and Kii, they're innocent." It'll be my job to protect them because I do not believe their uncle could do it. He's nothing but a murderer, a traitor, and when this entire quest is over his head will be on a spike. Everyone was glad that I wasn't leaving, but it hurt them when they realized I no longer trusted them. We all settled down for the night, and even though I had a stronger hatred for dwarves I still couldn't let them freeze to death. I went around, using my powers to dry their clothes which they appreciated. Thorin's eyes lit up when he thought it was his turn, but I turned away leaving him shivering.
~♪♠♪~
Shouting erupted, making me wake up immediately, I glanced over at Kili who seemed to have been already awake before me. His hands had been in my hair, was he playing with it?
"Kili?" Staring at him in confusion he pulled me closer to him, as the ground cracks it opened. We fell and slid off into a cavern, where we were set upon by goblins. Of course it was a goblin trap! We can never get a break, can we? Once we landed in the basket, goblins grabbed all of us, hauling us to an unknown place.
"Y/n!" Kili called, I couldn't see him but I knew he was close. He was looking for me, and soon we were once again reunited as we are taken before the giant goblin king. Kili quickly shed of his cloak and put it on me hiding my wings from all to see.
"Who would be so bold as to come armed into my kingdom? Spies? Thieves? Assassins?" The king bellowed stepping on goblins, using them as a stool to step down from his throne.
"Dwarves, your Malevolence." One told him, but the Goblin King gave me a weird look.
"Dwarves? What about you?" He pointed to me with his filthy finger. "Bring her forward! Search the rest of them!" As I got dragged away from the rest and right in front of the goblin King the dwarves had every crack and crevice of their body searched. "My my, what are you doing in these parts?" He gave me a creepy smile. "A pretty lady shouldn't be with a bunch of greedy dwarves!" He grabbed me by my arm and lifted me in the air. I struggled to get out of his grasp, unfortunately, the cloak that covered me slipped off and my wings were shown. With wide eyes, the king turned me around to look at my black-colored wings. "A Digonisk, I haven't seen one of you in so long. What reason would you dwarves have a treasure like this?" The dwarves remained silent, making the Goblin turn his gaze back to me. "Very well, if they will not talk, we’ll make them squawk! Bring up the mangler, bring up the bone breaker! We'll start with her." He threw me on the ground where his minions go to grab my arms. "I guess if they won't talk, we'll just have to break those wings!"
"Wait!" Thorin steps forward looking at me, the three long marks were still fresh and bloody but were beginning to heal. "Take me, leave her out of this." What was he doing? Why was he sacrificing himself for me?
"Well, well, well! Look who it is! Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror, King under the mountain." The King does a mocking bow. "Oh! But I’m forgetting you don’t have a mountain, and you’re not a king. Which makes you nobody really. I know someone who would pay a pretty price for your head. Just the head, nothing attached. Perhaps you know of whom I speak, an old enemy of yours. A pale orc astride a white warg." Azog the defiler, I had only heard tales of him, I've never met him in person. Perhaps he's been the one hunting Thorin.
"Azog the Defiler was destroyed. He was slain in battle long ago."
"So you think his defiling days are done, do you?" He asked sitting back on his throne, using the goblins as a stool again, crushing them beneath his foot. He turned to the goblin scribe with a huge grin. "Send word to the pale orc, tell him I have found his prize. Although, he might want you alive I highly doubt he'll care if you bleed just a bit." The goblins kick his knee, making him kneel as they peel over his top clothing. Out came a whip, and not just any whip, one made with the bones from a human spine.
"Thorin," I whispered, something in me tells me to save him as the first hit is struck. However, the look he gives tells me to stay down, his eyes squeeze shut as he is hit again. I couldn't do it, no matter how much I wanted him dead I couldn't watch this. I ran forward, going to protect him from more injuries but a goblin held me back.
"Y/n stay down, don't save me." He muttered, crying out in pain, no I wouldn't let this happen. My claws appeared once more, and with a swift slice I cut the goblins head clean off. And when I looked back to Thorin my eyes widened, his back was worse than I had thought. The cuts were deeper than a normal whip, and this rage-filled within me. My beloved screamed in pain, and before the weapon could strike him again I cried out. I had gotten bigger, my sight now high above the others, that's when every Goblin stopped and watched me. What is this? Why do I feel a thousand times bigger? I looked down at myself, I had the body of a dragon, it wasn't as big as Smaug but it would do. My focus went to Thorin's torturer, his eyes were wide at my form. Tucking the company beneath my wing I took a big breath, going to let out a fire so great when an explosion of bright white light showed. Blinding my sight, it was Gandalf the grey, he had come to save us. When he saw me he smiled brightly, and couldn't help but chuckle, I wondered as to why he was so happy.
"Everyone! Climb on her back! We'll be safe!" Gandalf ordered using my wing as a ramp to get on. The rest of the dwarves followed pursuit, each one holding onto my scales tightly. "Y/n! Make for the left, we'll look for a way out!" Leaning off the ledge, I dive and on my way, I blow every goblin I see to ash.
"Yeah!" Kili shouted cheering me on, and I smiled. Gandalf hit my side just enough to get my attention, looking to where he was pointing I spotted more Goblins coming our way. They sent waves of arrows, the dwarves wouldn't be able to survive them, and I couldn't dodge. I dived down quickly making the dwarves float in the air, then turning around I wrapped my wings to protect them from the oncoming wave. I didn't feel anything as they made an impact, good thing a dragon's hide is unbreakable. It all happened so fast, we were closer to the ground than I thought, my back impacted with cold stone. My breath came to a halt, it had knocked the wind out of me. I felt so tired, so exhausted to the point I couldn't understand what was going on. People were shouting for me, it was Thorin's face that I saw first. I knew it was him behind my blurry vision.
Chapter 5: The Ugly Truth
Chapter 6: A confession
That night Thorin came to my door, trying to see if I was alright but the more he stayed the more it hurt. Eventually, Balin and a few of the others had to pull him away, the only one who came in without knocking was Kili.
"Y/n?" He opened the door and peeked his head inside. His presence made me smile but I stayed silent, I felt the bed dip as he sat down next to my form. "Are you alright? Dwalin told me that you heard their conversation, the rest of the company is scolding him for saying such things." I sat up, and placed myself next to him, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"I'm fine."
"Y/n, your not ok. The way he's been treating you is unacceptable, I can see it in your eyes. He's hurting you, more than any of the others could if they said those things. I can't imagine how much pain your feeling right now, especially since your in love with him." I pulled away, my eyes meeting his glance.
"Is it that obvious?"
"Well, to some of us, but Balin had to explain why you were feeling this way. Let's just say there might be a war starting soon, cause the others are not happy. And here we thought Smaug would kill Thorin, the company seems more terrifying right now." We both let out a soft laugh while imagining the rest of the company angrily chasing down Thorin. Then my heart stopped, does that mean Thorin knew of my feelings?
"Thorin doesn't know does he?"
"Oh no, we made sure he has no idea, we didn't want to spill your secret. That is only something you can tell him, but he better hurry and realize. For one of the other dwarves might make their move."
"What do you mean?"
"Remember how I winked at you when I gave you your stew?" I nodded, still not understanding where he was going with this. "I winked because someone is trying to court you." My eyes widened at the sound of that, someone was trying to court me? The only people who came to my mind was Kili, Fili, Balin and Bilbo, though Bilbo was a hobbit.
"Let me guess is it your brother?"
"No, but me and him have been trying to figure out who it was. We've been taking bets, I think it's Bofur, he's had his eyes on you this whole trip. Especially when you insult our uncle, that gets him smirking."
"And what about Fili?"
"He thought it was me at first, but then decided on Ori and Dwalin. He's still debating, what about you? Who do you think it is?"
"Honestly, I have no idea." I wished it was Thorin, but I knew he could never love me. How could anyone love me? Especially a dwarf, they believe my kin killed theirs, why would they want to court me? My mind went blank, well there was another option. "What about Balin? He's known the truth, it could be him."
"How much gold you betting?"
"I don't have gold, we live in hiding and the money we use doesn't really fit in this world at least not anymore. How about on of Smaugs scales? You figure out who's courting me and I'll steal a scale from Smaug."
"How about a tooth, and we have a deal." He holds out his hand with a smile on his face, I take it with the same amount of enthusiasm.
"Deal." I couldn't help but wonder who could be my courter. The thought of it made it hard to sleep, I was curious as to who would want to be with me. And the thought continued unto the next day, cause me and Kili were inseparable, we talked all morning about who could be my courter. Yet me being so close to him, made a certain dwarf furious.
"Be on your guard, we’re about to step over the Edge of the Wild. Balin, you know these paths, lead on." Thorin orders, but his gaze isn't on him it's on me. He had something to say to me, but he kept his mouth shut, at least for now.
"What are you two on about?" Dwalin came up behind us, patting us both on the shoulder with a smile. "You've been talking to each since last night."
"We're trying to find out who Y/n's suitor is." Kili smirked at Dwalin's face, he looked between the two of us stunned.
"Someone is trying to court you?" Dwalin turned his gaze to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder tightly. "How do you know?"
"The night we got caught by trolls, I had more food in my bowl than Kili and Fili. Now we're betting on who we think it is, my vote is Balin." He laughed softly at my guess, and shook his head.
"Perhaps, though he's a little too old for you, almost as old as Thorin." Thorin is about my age, he can't be much older than me, probably five years tops.
"Thorin can't be that old, besides I'm 112."
"Thorin is 195 and Balin is 178." My heart dropped, Thorin wasn't a child when the Cold Blast happened. He was 95, the event happened almost a hundred years ago, could he have been part of it?
"You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Was anyone here apart of the cold blast?" He knew what I meant, his eyes filled with remorse. So someone was there, had it been Thorin? Is that why he began to cry yesterday evening on the balcony?
"That is something you should ask him." My glare turned to our so called King, he had lied to me. He made it seem like he wasn't there, that he was only a child like me. Why didn't he tell me the truth? So not only does he insult me and pretend to care, but he's a liar as well. That's when I heard a low growl from Dwalin, he was staring straight at Thorin with a fire in his eyes. "Excuse me." He said as politely as he could, and marched forward to catch up with his old friend.
"I wonder what he's upset about." Kili rejoined me and stood by my side staring at the two now angrily whispering dwarves. "Well, we can cross Balin off the list cause surely he would've asked his brother for approval first." As Kili mumbled on of who else it could be, my orbs met the gaze of his, that blue eyed bastard. I would remember this, I just hope he's ready for the hellfire I'm about to bring down upon him.
~♪♠♪~
As we continued on our journey along a mountain pass, a violent thunderstorm began. It was getting colder as more time passed on, and I was freezing. Sure everyone was, but for me it was worse, after all the cold can kill me. Kili offered to give me his jacket but I refused, all of us were cold I just had to keep going and hope that we'd be able to start a fire soon.
"Alright, hold on!" Thorin yelled from the front, the rain was coming down on us hard. Making the ground slippery and wet, Bilbo misses the ledge slightly, and the dwarves next to him stop him from falling off. "We must find shelter!"
"Look out!" Dwalin warned, we all look up to see a giant rock flying towards us. It hits the edge of the mountain, shattering, sending pieces our way.
"This is no thunderstorm! It’s a thunder-battle! Look!" Balin gestured towards the stone giant breaking another. It's punch landed, making rocks fly, headed straight for us. I held out my hand, and as much strength I could muster I made a force field to protect us from the in coming wave. As the rocks hit my shield, it felt as if my own body was breaking, that much of an impact hurt. It was because I was weaker, since I was cold my magic was failing. As the stone giants fight each other the mountain begins to break around us, it split in half separating me and Fili.
"Kili, grab my hand!" His brother shouted but it was too late, we were too far away now. Suddenly the mountain we're on comes to life and starts fighting with the other stone giant, we find ourselves separated and trying to reunite as the stone giants fight, break each other, and fight some more. I held onto Kili tightly as our stone giant is struck, and falls against the mountain. We landed on the hard stone, my breath taken from me.
"We’re alright! We’re alive!" Balin announced, letting the other's know that we were ok. Kili helped me up, and checked to see if I had any major wounds. All of us were ok, but one was missing, our hobbit.
"Where’s Bilbo? Where’s the hobbit?" Bofur gasped as he spotted Bilbo, who has fallen off the edge of the mountain, holding on with his hands.
"Get him!" Thorin ordered, I left Kili's embrace to save him. Using my magic I created a rope for him to grab onto, but his hand slipped and he began plummeting to the ground. "No!" Thorin shouted, I knew what I had to do, I had to save Bilbo. Hastily I backed up, making Thorin wonder what I was up to. Then getting a running head start, I jumped off the side of the mountain. "Y/n!!" Thorin shouted, but I ignored his cries and zoomed to Bilbo holding out my hand for him to take it. He grabbed on, and using my wings I flew back to the rest of the company. The moment we landed back on the ground, Bilbo extremely terrified got as close to the wall as he could, not wanting to be next to edge anymore. Thorin embraced me in a hug, I could feel his heartbeat speed up as he let a soft sob that only I could hear. "I thought I lost you." I hesitantly returned his gesture, my guard had been broken down again, I just wanted to enjoy this moment while it lasted.
"We need to find shelter!" Dwalin shouted through the rain, Thorin pulled away realizing that he was right. With a firm hand on my waist, I followed Thorin inside a cave that remained nearby. The moment we were covered from the rain and I came to my senses I pulled away from him.
"Out of all people, I never thought you would be the one to betray me." Thorin glanced over at me, his head tilting to the side in confusion. "You were there weren't you? The cold blast you were there." The others did not come to Thorin's aid, for they looked down in disappointment.
"Yes, I was there." My heart broke, the one I had fallen in love with was there. Tears began to fall free as he took a step towards me, but I took a step back.
"Don't you come near me, you lied to me. You made it seem as if you were a child during that time. Why did you lie to me?"
"I was afraid you would turn your back on this quest. That you would not help us-"
"The only reason I haven't left is because my kins freedom lies in that mountain! It's the only reason as to why I came along, but if there was nothing in that mountain to do with my people I wouldn't have come at all!...How many did you kill? How many of my people did you slaughter?" He looked away, afraid to answer the question but he knew he wasn't going to get out of this.
"...I do not know." He was hiding something else from me, for there was more guilt on his face then there should be.
"What else are you hiding from me Thorin?"
"Y/n...I can't, I can't tell you, for you will leave this company. You will leave me." He whispered the last part, he was so ashamed of himself.
"I will not leave this quest, for my kins freedom is at stake. Now tell me the truth Thorin, what are you hiding from me?" He stayed silent, another sob came from his lips. Why was he so upset? What was so terrible that he couldn't tell me? He slowly met my gaze, with a shameful look he laid down his weapon and kneeled in front of me. His eyes said it all, for I could not believe his next words.
"I was the one who beheaded the Queen."
Chapter 4: Between Two Races
Chapter 5: The Ugly Truth
The moon was almost out as the sun slowly lowered itself behind the mountains. I sighed, might as well enjoy it, this might be the only time I'll ever get to see it like this. With no enemies chasing us, just me and myself, and the maids who were trying to get me to wear a dress.
"What about this one milady? It's certainly beautiful, any man would love to see you in this kind of dress." It was a long black gown, not as fluffy as the others they had shown me. It was slim, and just my size, I ran my hand over the cloth feeling the soft texture.
"I'll try this one." Trying on the dress was the best decision, it fits me in all the right places. It hung off my shoulders slightly, showing my family's crest. My eyes traveled to the v-line that showed my breast. Well, it complimented my figure, even though I don't like showing my body that much, it made me feel beautiful. "Thank you, you are dismissed." I bowed and left my chambers, I could hear them giggling as I walked away. I wonder what they were so excited about, maybe they're eager to see the dwarves?
"Y/n! It's wonderful for you to join us for dinner." Elrond greeted as he walked up the steps with Gandalf. "You look extravagant."
"Thank you, as do you." He wasn't the only one who thought so, cause every dwarf at the table stopped and stared. Their jaws dropping in surprise, and each of them blushed as I smiled. The moment I sat down at the dining table, Thorin couldn't keep his eyes off of me. His gaze traveled to my chest, I couldn't tell if he was looking at my markings or my breast. "Thorin, eyes up here." He snaps out of his trance, but he did not smile or grin, he scowled at me.
"Don't you think that's a little too much skin your showing?" He growled I didn't think it would be a problem, but now I was doubting myself.
"Even if it is, what does it matter?"
"It matters cause you look like a whore." He took a sip of his wine, Elrond could sense my discomfort. I looked down in shame, all I wanted was to feel pretty, and here I thought this man could change. No, I wouldn't let him get to me, he's just another dwarf his words shouldn't matter to me. I held my head high, making his eyes widen at my new profound courage.
"A whore would be wearing much fewer clothes than I, all that matters is that I feel beautiful the way I am. And if you don't like it, then you can shove it you ignorant pig." The other two people at our table let out a small chuckle, for the look on Thorin's face was unexpected. He was speechless now but turned his focus to Elrond who examined one of the swords that he had taken from the trolls’ cave.
"This is Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver. A famous blade, forged by the High Elves of the West. My kin." He hands it back to Thorin with a small nod. "May it serve you well." Elrond grabs Gandalf's sword. "And this is Glamdring. The Foe-hammer, sword of the King of Gondolin. These swords were made for the Goblin wars of the First. I believe you will find it to be useful."
"What about this?" I hand him the blue stone I had found in the troll's hoard, he tilted his head to the side and put down Gandalf's weapon.
"It has your family's crest, I highly doubt you need me to tell you what it means."
"I know what the translation is, but why would it say to go back to the Kingdom of Larthas? There's nothing there but corpses and vines that have grown over time." He takes it from me and analyzes the markings, his brows furrowed as he racked his brain for what it could mean.
"I do not know, perhaps there is a secret there that remains hidden. Something only you can find out, you are the Queen after all. Only the royal blood can open the gates of Larithian."
"The gates of Larithian?" Thorin glanced between the two of us in confusion.
"The gates of Larithian is where our treasure remains, anything important goes in there. Yet it hasn't been open for so long." Were there more of my people out there? Maybe they made this gem, so one day when someone found it they would bring it to me. Why? What could be so important?
"How did you come by these?" Elrond still stared at the stone in his hand, I had a feeling he knew something about the stone. He just wasn't telling me what it was, he tried to look at it like he'd never seen it before but was failing.
"We found them in a troll hoard on the Great East Road, shortly before we were ambushed by orcs," Gandalf explained, which caught his attention.
"And what were you doing on the Great East road?"
~♪♠♪~
"Our business is no concern of Elves. It's already bad enough that she knows of our journey." Thorin glared at me, that fire in his eyes returning once more. I could feel a few looks of pity thrown my way, but I could care less. I was a Queen, no matter how much he hurts me I have to stay strong for my people.
"For goodness sake. Thorin, show him the map!" Gandalf ordered, his grip tightening on his staff.
"It is the legacy of my people. It’s mine to protect! As are its secrets."
"Save me from the stubbornness of dwarves. Your pride will be your downfall. You stand here in the presence of one of the few in Middle-earth who can read that map. Show it to Lord Elrond!" Thorin grimaced at the thought, but he knew that the old wizard was right. Though he looked at me with a hopeful look, I returned it with a glimpse of confusion.
"Can you read the map?" His request surprised me, he would rather have me, a digonisk read the map than an elf? "You do know everything about dwarves out there do you not?" Thorin takes out the map and hands it to me reluctantly. I open it, and read what I already knew, it was mostly about the quest. Elrond took this as a signal to leave, for he knew the dwarves wouldn't want him to listen in on their secrets. So now all that remained was me, Gandalf, Thorin, Bilbo, and Balin.
"What am I looking for?"
"It’s mainly academic. As you know, this sort of artifact sometimes contains hidden text." Gandalf explains, walking with me to the pedestal. "You still read ancient dwarvish, do you not?"
"Of course, it was one of the first languages that I learned during my lessons." I studied the symbols and spoke aloud. "‘Cirth ithil’."
"Moon runes, of course. An easy thing to miss."
"Moon runes can only be read by the light of the moon of the same shape and season as the day on which they were written. Luckily for you, I do not need the same moon as I can create my own." I lifted my hand over the map as the two dwarves watched, with my magic I created a crescent moon making the paper glow with blue letters. "‘Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks, and the setting sun with the last light of Durin’s Day will shine upon the keyhole.’"
"Durin’s Day?" Bilbo asked curiously.
"It is the start of the dwarves' new year, when the last moon of Autumn and the first sun of Winter appear in the sky together. We still have time to make it to the mountain, as long as we move swiftly and take the fastest route. We have to be standing at exactly the right spot, at exactly the right time. Then, and only then, can the door be opened?" That's when everyone realized this journey was about to get a whole lot harder. Not only would we have to move fast, but that means barely any resting time for the rest of the company. After reading the map, I returned to my balcony, watching as the moon shined upon us. Lighting the town, making it glow with white light.
"You've been coming here a lot since you've arrived. Something on your mind?" Elrond joined me by the edge, his hands folded behind his back.
"Just wanting some peace."
"I do not believe that's the right answer." I looked up at him, he gave me a knowing look. Was I supposed to know what he was speaking of? "Thorin Oakenshield, Gandalf told me about how he's been treating you this entire trip. And I can see it in your eyes, it hurts you when he speaks ill of you." He was right, I didn't like it when Thorin was rude, it was as if he wants to break my heart.
"I just don't understand why it hurts so much." He places a hand on my head, caressing my hair gently to calm me.
"Perhaps it hurts because you are in love with him?" In love with him?! That can't be, I haven't thought of him that way at all. Though I did appreciate his time with me, and I liked it when he was around. His voice soothed me, those ruff vocals were music to my ears. "You know I never lie, your hurt because you love him, and when someone that you love is rude to you it pains you more."
"Even if that was true, he wouldn't love me back."
"That's not what I see, earlier when he commented on your dress I could see the jealousy flaring in his eyes." Could Thorin be jealous of what other men thought? Is that why he's always so rude to me? Because he wants me to be safe, or he doesn't want me to do a certain thing? "You should talk to him, tell him how you feel. If you don't it will only get worse for the both of you." I turned away slightly, looking towards the exit of the garden. Maybe telling Thorin wouldn't be so bad, let's hope he feels the same. I thanked Elrond for the advice and made my way around the castle. Eventually, I spotted Thorin with Dwalin speaking on the bridge over the waterfall. My heart was pounding as I made my way over to them, but before I turned the corner I heard something I hadn't expected. I hid behind the pillar, listening to them speaking about someone, uttering my name.
"You laid a hand to her?" Thorin growled.
"It was an accident Thorin, I was just angry-" Dwalin went to go apologize but Thorin interrupted him.
"She is the Queen of the Digonisks, the one who is going to slay Smaug. You will be nice to her, for she is the only one who can kill that beast." My heart fluttered, he was defending me, maybe he did love me.
"So that's it, you want us to be nice? What about the pain you've caused her?! And for what, so she'll do your dirty work?"
"If we hurt her more, she might turn her back on us. We need her to kill Smaug." So that's all he wanted, he just wanted me to kill that dragon. I was nothing but a pawn to him, he didn't love me after all. I was stupid to ever think such an ass like him could ever have feelings like that. Besides, he did say he'd rather be dead than ever be with me.
"And what about after that? What happens after she kills him?" Thorin sighed in disappointment, it seemed like he was upset about something.
"Then she can take her scrolls and leave." I let my guard down again, I shouldn't have listened to Elrond, he didn't lie but he was mistaken. A moment later I heard shuffling, Thorin was coming my way. Quickly I pretended to be just arriving, which startled 'The King Under The Mountain'. "Y/n." He bowed and smiled at me, but I knew it was just an act. "What brings you here?" My heart wrenched, I couldn't do it, I couldn't tell him. I didn't want to face rejection, nor humiliation.
"I was coming to tell you something." My eyes met Dwalins, and that's when he knew I had heard their conversation. "Though it's not important, not anymore." Quickly I rushed away to my chambers as Thorin called after me, and the moment the hard wooden door closed I slid down to the floor with a soft sob coming from my lips.
Chapter 3: Trolls
Chapter 4: Between two races.
After the nasty business with the Trolls, Thorin believed there to be a cave nearby. We gathered our things and placed them back up onto the ponies. While our steeds waited for our return, we headed to the Troll Hoard. It was filled with riches and gold, something that the dwarves would love.
"Oh, what’s that stench?!" Bofur placed a hand over his nose so he wouldn't have to smell the odor.
"It’s a troll hoard, be careful what you touch," Gandalf warned, the dwarves cough from the foul smell, then as they go deeper inside the cave they come upon the trolls’ treasure. While the dwarves searched the weapons laying around, something caught my eye. It wasn't a blade or dagger, it was a stone, a light blue jewel with the same symbol on my back. Each digonisk family member, when they wished to join the armies a mark would be imprinted in their skin to show their family's crest. Mine was a black dragon with red eyes, it traveled from my waist up to my back to my chest. The stone had the same symbol upon it, up until the last detail. And on the other side, it had letters from my language. If you were reading it in English, it would have said home, but to me, I read it as 'Pilias'. Home, did it mean the old kingdom of Larthas? The stone looked so familiar but I just couldn't place it, where did it come from? Where did the trolls find this?
"Let’s get out of this foul place. Come on, let’s go. Bofur, Gloin, Nori. Y/n." Thorin called catching my attention, but his eyes were upon the stone in my hand. "What is that?" It was too late to hide it now, but perhaps he hadn't seen the runes upon it.
"Just a stone, nothing special but I have a knack for these things." I gave him a fake smile, but he rushed over and held out his hand. He knew I was hiding something, if I were to refuse to give it to him he would become more suspicious about my intentions.
"Hand it over." He demanded, his eyes piercing into mine. All eyes were on us, my hand shakily placed it in his. Once his eyes landed on it, he seemed confused but handed it back to me. "I should've known you would carry something that has the language of your kin." He growled leaving the cave, I let out a breath in relief. I'm glad he could care less about the stone, as we exit the cave the two brothers come up to me.
"Are you alright Y/n?" Kill asked, checking me for any wounds, giving him a small smile I nod.
"Don't worry, I'm alright." My gaze goes down to the object in my hand, and they follow it.
"What is that? What does it say?" Fili asked, hesitantly taking it from me to get a better look.
"In my language, it says Pilias, which means home," I explained as he ran his finger over the carvings, examining it with great caution. The both of them grinned at the design, but it soon faltered as Thorin yelled a warning. Something was coming our way, It sounded like thumping, not hooves or paws of a wolf, but rabbits.
"Stay together! Hurry, now! Arm yourselves!" Gandalf shouted, Kili and Fili stood in front of me protectively. Summoning a bow for myself, Thorin watched in curiosity at the magic I had used. Suddenly Radagast bursts through the bushes on his sled.
"I knew I heard rabbits." I grinned and stepped forward to greet my old friend.
"Radagast. It’s Radagast the Brown!" Gandalf announces as puts his sword away and approaches the brown wizard. Radagast smiled at him for a second but when he saw me he gasped. Before he could ask why I was with dwarves, Gandalf continued. "What on earth are you doing here?"
"I was looking for you, Gandalf. Something’s wrong. Something’s terribly wrong." He was right, the more we traveled across the land the more I felt a darkness come upon us.
"Yes?" Radagast goes to speak but stops, almost as if he lost his train of thought.
"Just give me a minute. Um…Oh! I had a thought and now I’ve lost it. It was…it was was right there, on the tip of my tongue! Oh! It’s not a thought at all! It’s a silly old…stick insect." He sticks his tongue out as Gandalf removes the insect and gives it back to him. The two eventually went off to speak about something, leaving the rest of us to ourselves. Balin gave me and the two brothers a look, Fili and Kili understood but I did not know what was going on.
"Perhaps one of us should stay here," Kili suggested to his brother. "Just in case the others go off the rails."
"Right, I'll speak to uncle. You have 10 minutes, just be careful Y/n, and if anything happens scream as loud as you can." My heart was pounding as Fili went off to distract Thorin, Kili sensed my distress.
"What is going on?" Kili placed a gentle hand on my shoulder, showing that I had nothing to worry about.
"Me, Balin, and Fili have decided to try and convince the rest of the dwarves that your not a threat. As each day passes Thorin becomes angrier with you, and one day we might not be able to protect you. Though if we convince the rest that your no threat then they'll be willing to protect you against my uncle."
"I can handle myself against a few dwarves Kili."
"I know, but Balin said it's better to have allies than none. Don't worry, I'll be here to protect you." He whispers and led me towards the others, I still didn't trust this idea. Why are they so determined on helping me?
"Lads while we have a moment," Balin spoke, looking back towards me for a second. "I beg that you be open-minded, and none of you speak of this to Thorin."
"What is it, brother?" Dwalin spoke stepping closer, he glanced over at us. "Is Kili trying to court Y/n?" My cheeks went red at that, Kili only looked at me and smirked. Wait, courting, Kili winked at me last night when he handed my bowl. One of the courting parts was for the interested person, to give their 'one' more food than the rest. It was a way of showing that they could provide for them. Was Kili trying to court me?
"No, we only have a short time so I'll say this quick. How many of you, know the truth about Digonisks? How many of you believe that they had nothing to do with raiding villages?" No one raised their hands, they all just looked at each other in confusion. "That is what I thought, each of you has been misled. Digonisks are not the enemy, they're the peacekeepers of middle earth."
"They slaughtered out people! Listen to yourself, Balin! She has you under her spell! Under a curse!" Before anyone could react Dwalin rushed over to me, and grabbed me by the shoulders with his weapon pointed at my neck. "You let go of my brother you witch!" His hand came in contact with my cheek, I waited for him to hit me again but I did not feel the impact. Balin and Kili stood in front of me, and both of them were furious.
"She does not have me under a spell! I know that her kind is innocent for a fact! For I am the one, who wrote the reports." Everyone's eyes widened in shock at his words, that can't be Thror was the one who wrote them. "Thror found out that I had written the truth, but while he was under the dragon sickness he ordered for me to show no one. He took it from me and threatened that if I were to show anyone I would be framed for murder. I and Thrain were the only people who knew about it, and we kept it a secret for we had no idea there was any digonisk left alive. I wanted to tell everyone, but after the cold blast, I realized if the truth were to come out people would despise us as they despise her kin. And I couldn't do that to my family, I didn't want my family to be treated as such."
"So you kept it a secret cause you were afraid of being treated like we had been for almost a hundred years?! Do you have any idea how much pain and suffering my people have been through?!" Each dwarf looked down in shame, they couldn't believe what they had heard. For all this time Balin knew the truth and he kept it to himself, cause he didn't want for his kin to be driven to hide in the shadows. "I can't believe this, why didn't you say anything at the beginning of this journey? Why didn't you say anything to Thorin?"
"He would not believe me! He may be reasonable but without hard evidence, he wouldn't believe the words that slipped from my mouth. Like Dwalin he would've hurt you, or worse, left you for dead."
"Then why tell them?"
"Thorin is becoming sick, every day we get closer to the mountain the more his need for gold grows. I've seen it, the dragon sickness is already taking effect. Them, they would believe me, for I do not lie." I wanted to blame him, but he was right. I would've probably made the same call as well, if my kin made a huge mistake and I knew the truth I probably wouldn't have told anyone. And with Thorin, that darkness that is following us, what if it's him? The dragon sickness, what if that is what I keep sensing? If he truly has it then he would not believe Balin, for he would most likely blame me. "Brother, the rest of you. I beg that you protect her against him, for he is not himself. And each day as that illness grows so does the hatred for digonisks."
"That day, of the cold blast...you were innocent weren't you?" Dwalin asked softly, he didn't seem angry anymore. He seemed on his guard but not angry as someone had betrayed him.
"We were, we had done nothing wrong but your kind had to take my kins freedom over some rumor. You know for years I wanted revenge for what the humans and dwarves had done to my kind. I wanted to end every life for the death of my family, but even in their darkest hour my mother and father still offered a truce. Even though you all slaughtered my kin like cattle, but I promised my mother something before she died." Tears ran down my cheeks as I thought her last words. I looked down, not being able to look them in the eyes. I almost couldn't finish my speech, just thinking about how much we suffered made me want to lunge at them. Made me want to hurt them but it wasn't them who did this, it was their ancestors. "No matter how much it hurts to be around you, I still kept my promise...Do you want to know what her last words were?" My gaze met his once more and he seemed more startled, his eyes widened with horror and remorse. I could feel that he was starting to understand my words and my past. "Her last words were, 'don't take revenge.' Even after everything you had done to us, after every death you had caused, she still begged for peace..." Dwalin's form made his way over to me, Kili gripped the handle of his sword as a warning but he didn't care. Instead, Dwalin slightly pushed him to the side, and then embraced me in his arms. Was he hugging me?
"I'm sorry you had to go through that, all of it. I wish we hadn't caused you such discomfort." He pulled back, his hands resting on my shoulders. "I recognized the pain in your eyes, it's the same suffering my brother had when we finished the war against our enemies in Moria. Only a person who experienced something like that is the only one I can believe." He placed himself next to me, I felt more confident now that we had him for we had a better chance at convincing the others. "Who else will join me? Who else will stand against Thorin's wrath if it comes to it?" The rest stood there, some with tears and others with a look of guilt. Bilbo, came to my side, he didn't know much about our past but I'm glad he was on my team. Kili grabbed my hand, squeezing it, telling me it was ok. Each dwarf, one by one came closer to me bowing their heads in respect.
"Don't worry Y/n, we will all defend you from Thorin. Each of us will make sure he never finds out about this, and if he does we'll protect you." Bofur who was the last dwarf to walk over bowed. Which was a good thing, because now I had all dwarves as allies. And just in time to, because Thorin came back with his nephew flustered. Fili seemed angrier than ever, was talking to his uncle that bad? Interrupting my thoughts, we heard a howling noise, making Bilbo worry.
"Was that a wolf? Are there…are there wolves out there?" He asked curiously, that was not a wolf, and I knew exactly what that was.
"Warg scouts are nearby." I pulled my weapon out once more just as something growls from behind us, we all turn to see a warg. It pounces going for Bofur but I shot it with an arrow killing it instantly. Another appeared from behind, which was killed by Thorin and Kili.
"Who did you tell about your quest, beyond your kin?" Gandalf charged over to Thorin with rage in his eyes.
"No one."
"Who did you tell?!" He asked again but he replied with the same answer.
"No one, I swear! What in Durin’s name is going on?"
"You are being hunted." Hunted? Why would the dwarves be hunted? No one else knew about our quest, perhaps they were coming for me?
"We have to get out of here." Dwalin exclaimed but Ori came running from the side.
"We can’t! We have no ponies. They bolted." He panted heavily, crap, no ponies no way out. We could fight them, but what good would that do us?
"I’ll draw them off." Radagast says getting back onto his sled.
"These are Gundabad wargs. They will outrun you!" Gandalf states but he raised his hand in a fist determined.
"These are Rhosgobel rabbits. I’d like to see them try." Gandalf turns to me and gestures towards him.
"Go, don't worry you will see us again. I believe you know where we are headed." Rivendell, that's where he was leading the dwarves. Quickly I got on the back on Radagasts sled and readied my bow.
"Absolutely not!" Thorin growled as he grabbed my arm, but Fili pushed him away.
"Don't you lay a hand on her!" He yelled, I could hear him arguing with his uncle as we race off towards an unknown location. As we were being pursued by Orcs and wargs, I shot them one by one with my ethereal arrows. I had one hand on the sled to keep me on while the other would shoot arrows from my crossbow, I smiled as I took one down.
"So are you going to tell me what you're doing with a bunch of dwarves?" Radagast yelled trying to hold on the best he could.
"Gandalf wants me to kill Smaug! Don't worry all of them know who I am, and they're fine with it!" I explained, that seemed to be a good enough reason for him. I shot a few more down, but the more we were chased, the riskier it got for the company. I would see them every so often, and soon they were found. All of the orcs stopped following us, and followed them instead. The moment we stopped at the edge of the forest I went to go save my friends until I spotted elves charging towards the orc pack. That's good, I thought sighing in relief.
"Don't worry, your friends are on their way to Rivendell. Which you should be there before them, they will want to make sure you're ok. Be careful, not many people will be open to the idea of having your kind around." That was the last thing he said before going off on his own again. He was right, I should probably get going. Spreading my wings, I fluttered them creating a big gust of wind as I made my way to Rivendell. I flew over the mountain with the hidden valley coming into view and spotted the dwarves below on a rock staring down at the city before them. Yet as they felt the winds of a hurricane they all looked up towards me, some cheered knowing I was ok and quickly made their way down the mountain to meet me at the entrance. I began to descend, my feet contacted with the concrete stone on the passageway.
"Wocel. (Wecome)" Lindir greeted in Digon as he came down the steps, his long hair flowing down his back.
"I see your Digon has gotten better, have you been studying for me?" I joked, giving him a small smile, it has been a while since I've stopped in Rivendell. This is where most of our wheat and water sources come from, for we live in the sky and have no access to the ground. "Wiher isi Kigna Elrond? (Where is King Elrond?)"
"It may have gotten better, but I still don't understand some words in your language. So English please milady." His gaze turns to someone behind me, to greet the old grey wizard who was at fault for bringing me on this journey. "Mithrandir."
"Ah, Lindir." Gandalf greeted, but that's not the type of greeting I got. Thorin's eyes roamed over my body, and he gasped as he saw the bruise forming on my face.
"What did I tell you? You can't handle yourself!" He yelled, pointing to the purple markings on my cheek. "Like I said, your nothing but a burden to this company. Perhaps you should leave the work to the real warriors."
"Enough Thorin! That is from no orc, it is from me." Dwalin turned to face him with a furious look, though he glanced at his hand in disappointment. "I struck her for hitting you, and she did not expect it."
"So not only is she weak, but blind as well. Only the more reason as to why she shouldn't be here, this is no place for filth like her."
"Don't call me that." I whispered tears sprung to my eyes, it's like I was weak around him. As if I couldn't handle my posture when he was in my presence, what can't I stay strong? Why do his words hurt me more than others? All he did was shake his head.
"How can you expect to fight a dragon when you act like a child." I did nothing this time, I didn't hit him, I didn't strike him. I just turned away and went to go to the garden but he spoke once more. "Your weak, just like the rest of your kin that died in the cold blast."
"What did you just say to me?" My eyes turned red as my wings spread, he wasn't smiling anymore. "You call me weak? I'll show you weak!" With one blast of my magic, I threw him back making him hit the white bridge. He let out a gasp of air, trying to gather his breath but I had knocked the wind out of him. I wasn't done with him, I made my way over with a sword in hand. "You think you can take me on?" I brought down my sword, quickly he blocked. "You think that your stronger than me?!" I struck again, this time cutting his cheek. "I AM Y/N! THE QUEEN OF THE DIGONISKS! THE SOUL OF THE BLACK DRAGON!" He blocked each time I went to hit him, he didn't hit me back, he just stared at me in horror. I brought down my weapon once more, and this time he couldn't block, for he was to slow. My weapon stopped as it was pointed at his neck, and I smirked at the fear that was painted on his face. "You will do well to respect me, for you have just been bested. So Thorin, any words?" He kept silent as he stood, sheathing his blade. I returned to my normal form, and walked off towards the sanctuary.
Elrond wouldn't mind, Rivendell was like my second home anyways. Elves besides wizards were the only ones who knew what happened that day. They knew that my people weren't terrible, they knew the truth. Walking through the garden, my mind swirled with thoughts. My actions didn't help my case that I was innocent, what I had just done to their king was not right. I shouldn't have been so careless, I should've kept calm. Let's just hope they all forgive me, for I need their help to get through this journey.
~♪♠♪~
The sun began to set, making everything an orange shade, and the water down below was just gorgeous. I missed land, our floating island wasn't that big and we barely had room for farms. I wish we could go back to Larthas, hopefully, once I get those scrolls we can return home.
"Y/n." A gruff voice called, he stood next to me, arms folded against his chest. The cut on his cheek had been tended to, it wasn't as deep as I thought it was. Tears sprung to my eyes, I didn't feel like dealing with him right now. And the thought of his words from earlier hurt me more.
"Please go away." My words came out like a whisper, he didn't say anything as he joined me on the balcony. He sent me a look of remorse as he noticed the tear that slipped down my cheek. "I do not want to deal with your hatred right now."
"I do not have hatred for you."
"Really? Cause that's how you acted this entire trip. All because of where I come from, you see me as nothing but an enemy...I've tried my hardest to keep calm but you're making it hard. Why do you hate me so much? What have I've done to you? I barely know you!" His hand hesitantly slipped over mine, he clutched it gently, I wanted to pull away but I also wanted to enjoy this moment. It was very rare that I would have a moment like this with him, where he was nice.
"...I'm sorry, your right I have been acting rudely. I shouldn't have said the things I said. It was wrong for me to speak in such a way...I worry, I worry that you'll turn your back on us. That you're not here to slay Smaug, that your here to kill us."
"If I wanted to kill you I would've done it already, besides Gandalf wouldn't bring me along if he knew I would do such a thing." As much as I wanted to beat the crap out of Thorin for hurting me, I understand how he felt. I have to worry about myself, I have to worry if they've poisoned me or not. Or if they're planning to kill me, it was all so frustrating. "I know you hate me, but you shouldn't, for I am not the one who slaughtered your kin. Even if my kind had, I was too young to be a soldier during that time. And I'm pretty sure you were too young to be a soldier when the cold blast happened. So truth is, we shouldn't hate each other for something our ancestors did." I glanced over at him, a look of guilt spread across his face as he became deeper in thought. His eyes became glossy for a moment, but he blinked them away and smiled at me.
"Your right, we shouldn't hate each other for something we weren't there for." He seemed nervous, almost as if he had to choose his words carefully. "It's not like I could've been there at the cold blast, it was almost two hundred years ago." There was sarcasm in his voice, I had a feeling he was lying to me about something, the cold blast was a hundred years ago. Not two, how old was he? "Perhaps we could start over?" He looked at me with hope, his body became incredibly close to mine. I couldn't help but smile at his efforts.
"I'd like that."
Chapter 2: The Journey Begins
Chapter 3: Trolls
We didn't stop until the rain disappeared, everyone's clothes were still damp from the rain except Thorin's. We halted our journey outside an old ruined farm, it wasn't much of a farm anymore. Just an old abandoned burnt-down house. As I go to get down from the pony, Thorin slips off first and holds out his hand. Hesitantly I take it, his arm wrapping around my waist so I don't hit the ground too hard.
"Thank you," I swear I spotted a smile for a second, but he frowned and hit my shoulder with his walking away. He seemed grumpier than usual, perhaps it was something I did?
"We’ll camp here for the night. Fili, Kili, look after the ponies." Thorin ordered, yet his eyes never left me. "Y/n, you will join them."
"A farmer and his family used to live here," Gandalf muttered as Thorin kept giving the rest of the dwarves their parts. "I think it would be wiser to move on. We could make for the hidden valley." The hidden valley, the elves could help us, Lord Elrond might be able to give us aid.
"Are you sure your alright riding with my uncle? It seems like he gets ruder towards you every day." Kili pulled me off to the side, his face showing a look of worry. "We could make an excuse for you, I'm pretty sure me and my brother will be able to think of something."
"I'll be alright, don't worry about me. I'm a Digonisk remember? One dwarf can't take on the almighty dragon-slayer." I said sarcastically, making him chuckle at my comment.
"Just remember, me and my brother will be here if you need us." He whispers the last part but instantly focused on Gandalf who was walking off in frustration.
"Everything alright? Gandalf, where are you going?" Bilbo wondered stepping towards the angry wizard.
"To seek the company of the only one around here who’s got any sense."
"And who’s that?"
"Myself, mister Baggins! I’ve had enough of dwarves for one day." Well, I'm guessing the conversation with our leader didn't go all that well.
"My Queen, if I may speak with you for a moment?" Balin bowed slightly, giving me a small smile. A weird feeling settled within me, for I felt as if his request was a trap. Yet what bothered me, was the fact that he was bowing. I placed a hand on his shoulder, making his gaze met mine.
"There is no need to bow to me Balin, the only person you should be calling by their royal title is Thorin. For you aren't a digonisk, you have no reason to be formal with me. Just call me Y/n."
"Right, Y/n, I wish to speak with you if that is alright." I nodded and followed him away from the others, we now stood under the rotting wood next to the still-standing fireplace. "It's about the reports that lie in Erebor."
"What about them?" What did he want with what was mine? Was he planning to burn them himself?
"They're are there in Thror's room, however, I do not believe Thorin will keep his word." He glances over to the king, who was watching us in pure jealousy. Those blue orbs stared down Balin with a fiery rage. "If Thorin is to burn those reports, look for another set in the library. We dwarves may be messy at times, but we always keep an extra copy of important scrolls."
"Why are you helping me? What do you gain from all of this?"
"My home, and the death of that dragon who stole it from us. I know the truth about your people, not all dwarves and humans believe that your kin is monsters. Digonisks are and always will be the peacekeepers of Middle Earth."
"What is going on here?" Thorin stormed forward angrily, the curiosity of betrayal shined in his eyes. He looked between the two of us, Balin was speechless for he did not know what to say.
"I was asking Balin why dwarves keep their hair long, cause you didn't answer."
"I didn't answer because you have no reason to find a husband, no man or dwarf would ever marry someone as ugly as you." Another piece of my heart was torn and slowly fell like a feather into the abyss. I can normally handle people like him, but for some reason, his words cut me like a knife.
"That is your opinion, there is someone out there for me. There is someone out there for everyone, I just have to find them." He laughed and shook his head in disbelief.
"Keep dreaming, but I'd rather let myself get eaten by a warg than ever think of you in that way." His words came out like a snarl, my heart wrenched and tears began to form. Which he noticed instantly, his features softened for just a moment.
"Then do it, 'King under The Mountain', for any world would be better without you in it." I did not understand his motives, first, he was nice then rude. Then nice again, what game was he playing at? What was his purpose for hurting me? I have done nothing but be nice to this so-called king, for him to only wish death upon himself.
"How dare you-" He reached out to grab me but his nephews came to my rescue, both of them furious at their uncle's actions.
"That is enough uncle!" Kili and his brother stepped in front of me, a protective hand out to ensure my safety. "I don't know why you insist on being rude to her, but you're wrong. Any man would be lucky to have such a woman, she has done nothing but shown loyalty to this company. And I would marry her if I could, I'd rather be with your enemy than listen to you spew words of fire in her direction." This shocked Thorin, he did not expect such an outburst from one of his kin. Kili shook his head in disappointment as he pulled me away and towards the ponies.
"Uncle's behavior is getting out of hand, you have to stay by our side from now on. I do not trust you alone with him, next time he might hurt you physically...Are you alright milady?" Fili rushed to my side, checking to see if I was ok. His eyes widened as he spotted my eyes shining with tears.
"It's nothing, I've handled men like him before I can do it again. I don't even know why I'm getting upset over some stupid speech he made." I let out a fake laugh while wiping away the stray tears threatening to fall down my skin. The two brothers shared a look, a look I could not decipher.
"He hurt you, what happens the next time you argue?" Fili was right, what would happen the next time I and Thorin disagreed?
"I'll be fine." At least I hoped, had the rumors Thorin heard were worse than what I had been aware of? Maybe there was more to the lies people would let run out of their mouths. I know my race isn't favored and is considered murderous, but why would Thorin target me, someone, who had no part in his kins murder?
~♪♠♪~
"So how do you say, I love you in Digon?" Kili asked, Digon was the word for my language. To keep me distracted from earlier, they kept asking me about my terminology.
"Tis levo yoy." I explained, and with a smile on his face, he tried to repeat it back to me. He was close, but still a little off, I couldn't help but laugh at his failed attempts.
"Tis lovo yoy." He looked to me for confirmation that he said it right but I shook my head.
"It's levo not lovo, but don't worry you'll get it." Fili glanced over at me, a grin on his face. He too was amused by his brother's mispronounced words. Yet that smirk disappeared as he leaned forward, staring straight at the ponies. He got up and rushed over, looking around, I could feel his confusion.
"Kili, didn't we have 16 ponies?" Kili jumped up with me on his tail. Two of the ponies were missing, now there were only 14. As we're standing there, thinking about what to do next Bilbo comes up to us with three bowls of stew, one tucked in his arm the other two in his hands.
"What’s the matter?" Bilbo asked cautiously, Kili leaned over slightly to tell him the situation.
"We’re supposed to be looking after the ponies."
"Only we’ve encountered a slight problem." Fili continued, his eyes searching the area.
"We had sixteen."
"Now there’s fourteen." The three focused harder to see exactly which ponies are missing.
"Daisy and Bungle are missing," Kili explained, walking forward to see if any more ponies were gone.
"What? Well, that’s not good. And that is not good at all. Shouldn’t we tell Thorin?" Fili instantly shook his head, his eyes filling with rage once more.
"No. Let’s not worry him, besides he might blame Y/n for losing them, it's already bad enough they're arguing. As our official burglar, we thought you might like to look into it."
"Well, uh…it looks as if something big uprooted these trees." He pointed out, I noticed the tree that was yanked out of the ground. There was only one thing that had this type of strength, but what would they be doing down here?
"There is only one thing that could've done this, Trolls. They most likely came from the mountains, but they can't be seen during the daylight." I got a look of admiration from Kili, he's probably wondering how I knew such a thing. How did they get all the way here? Maybe they weren't Trolls?
"Well, Lady Y/n I must say, you are very smart." Kili walked over a light tint of pink on his cheeks.
"Hey! There’s a light." Fili waved his hand, interrupting our small moment. Me and his brother followed close behind, sneaking closer to the enemy's camp. "Over here! Stay down." As we head towards their camp, we see a huge troll walk by, carrying two of the ponies.
"Minty!" I whispered, the troll had her in one hand with Myrtle in the other.
"He’s got Myrtle and Minty! I think they’re gonna eat them, we have to do something." Bilbo who was still holding the bowls of soup watched as the troll returned to its pack.
"Yes, you should. Mountain trolls are slow and stupid, and you’re so small. They’ll never see you." Kili grinned grabbing the hot food from him, he handed me a bowl but stopped when he looked between the three of them. Something was wrong with one of the stews, none seemed to be glowing so it couldn't be poisoned. He handed it to me with a wink, what was he winking about?
"Me? Me? No. No. No." Bilbo wanted to refuse, but they did have a point. The trolls have never seen hobbits, he would be small and quiet enough to get our ponies.
"It’s perfectly safe!"
"We’ll be right behind you. If you run into trouble hoot twice like a barn owl, once like a brown owl." Fili grabbed his food from his brother, then unexpectedly Kili grabbed my wrist gently and pulled me away from the scene.
"Will he be ok?" They both gave me a look as they ate their soup, signaling that he was gonna be fine. I still worried, what if we're too late? What if Bilbo gets caught and is slaughtered before we can approach them?
"Don't worry, if something goes wrong we'll be there to stop it." Kili took a bite of his food, I looked down at mine. I still didn't trust what Kili had been smiling about, I put my bowl down, I had to be cautious.
"What is the matter?" Kili glanced between me and the bowl, a worried look plastered on his face. "Are you not hungry?"
"That depends, I'm not hungry for poison." He tilted his head to the side confused.
"You think we poisoned you?" Even his brother was stunned, maybe he was in on this.
"Then why else would you wink at me?" He thought about it for a second, then let out a laugh. Before he could explain, I heard a scream, it was the troll's scream. I stood up abruptly, turning in the direction of where the sound came from.
"Fili, you go get the others, Y/n come with me," Kili ordered with his sword in hand, we went our separate ways. I could hear one of the trolls talking, something about holding Bilbo over the fire. Suddenly Kili attacks one by striking his sword against its leg making it scream.
"Drop him!" Kili ordered, raising his sword to fight.
"You what?" One of them asked, pulling out my weapons I let out a low growl, making Kili look at me.
"Y/n..." He muttered, he was most likely looking at my appearance. Sometimes when I use my magic my features change, instead of my normal e/c eyes I have red dragon orbs with black slits like a cat.
"I believe he said, drop him. Unless you want to see the light I suggest you let go of my friend." My impression seemed to terrify them for he throws Bilbo at Kili, knocking them both to the ground. That's when I heard a cry, the furious roar that made my heart flutter. Thorin charged from the bushes, aiding us in our situation. All the dwarves rallied with him, they rallied with their king. I sprinted towards one troll, impaling it in the leg I used my blade as an advantage to climb onto its shoulders. Instantly I dug my other sword right into its eye, making it scream in pain. As the dwarves are fighting the trolls they cheered me on for almost taking down our enemy. Yet our victory was cut short, the one I had originally attacked grabbed me by my arm, and held me in the air.
"Y/n! Bilbo!" Kili rushed forward to try and save us, but Thorin stops Kili from attacking. Bilbo was being held by his arms and legs by the other two trolls.
"Lay down your arms! Or we’ll rip his off!" One shouted, Thorin hesitated, what would happen if I were to save Bilbo? Could I use my fire to make them drop him? Reluctantly Thorin drops his sword and the other dwarves follow suit. The trolls, being the greedy pigs they are decided to eat the dwarves. However they kept me to the side, a rope was tied tightly around my arms and torso. I look over to some of the dwarves on a spit over the fire, while the others are held in bags that are up to their necks.
"I know someone who would pay a pretty price for you. Though I always wondered what D-" The troll came closer, but the other one hit him on the head with his spoon.
"We can't eat her! She's special!" I could hear Thorin growl from his spot, he glared at them with a mighty rage.
"Don't you dare lay a hand on her!" Kili roared, struggling to get out of the bag he was trapped in.
"Quiet you!" One of the trolls yelled, then turned back to his pot.
"Don’t bother cooking ’em! Let’s just sit on ’em and squash ’em into jelly!"
"They should be sauteed and grilled with a sprinkle of sage."
"Oh, that does sound quite nice."
"Never mind the seasoning, we ain’t got all night! Dawn ain’t far away, let’s get a move on! I don’t fancy been turned to stone." As the trolls argue over what to do with the dwarves, Bilbo gets up and hops over. It was as if he had an idea to buy us some time.
"Wait! You are making a terrible mistake." He exclaimed, but the dwarves tried to convince him to not reason with them. "I meant with the…uh, with the…with the seasoning."
"What about the seasoning?" The troll leaned down, wondering what the little Hobbit had to say.
"Well, have you smelt them? You’re gonna need something stronger than sage before you plate this lot up!" I couldn't help but snicker as the dwarves get angry at Bilbo’s intervention. However couldn't they see what Bilbo was trying to do? He was trying to save us.
"What do you know about cooking dwarf?" Another troll asked but the cook waved his hand.
"Shut up, and let the…uh, flurgerburbur-hobbit talk."
"Uh…the-the secret to cooking dwarf, is um…" Bilbo stood there for a second, trying to choose his words carefully.
"Yes? Come on." The troll was starting to become impatient.
"It’s, uh…"
"Tell us the secret!"
"Ye-yes, I’m telling you. The secret is…to…skin them first!" Bilbo belted out quickly, and all the dwarves holler at Bilbo in outrage.
"Tom, get me filleting knife." The cook smirked, wanting to get his hands on one of the dwarves.
"What a load of rubbish! I’ve eaten plenty with their skins on. Scoff ’em I say, boots and all!"
"He’s right! Nothing wrong with a bit o’ raw dwarf." The troll picked up Gloin in his sack and held him over his mouth, at the same time me and Bilbo noticed Gandalf in the bushes. So we didn't have long before Gandalf came to save us, two minutes tops.
"Not that one!" I shouted catching everyone's attention, "He's infected, all of them are actually. They have..." What was a disease that trolls are afraid of? Ah yes, I know. "They are all infected with Lidaks." Lidaks were a type of worm that eats people from the inside out. Upon hearing that, he throws down Gloin in disgust making the other dwarves groan as he landed on them.
"In-in fact, they all have. They’re infested with parasites as well, it’s a terrible business, I wouldn’t risk it, I really wouldn’t." Bilbo added, but that only made the dwarves angrier. Luckily Thorin realizes that the both of us were trying to buy them time and kicks Kili, now realizing what we're doing.
"I’ve got parasites as big as my arm!" Oin states and the rest of the dwarves agree. I sighed in relief, good now they can help us buy time to but where was Gandalf?
"What would you have us do then? Let ’em all go?" The troll cried out, well it wouldn't be a bad idea. "You think I don’t know what you’re up to. This little ferret is taking us for fools!" Suddenly Gandalf emerges from his hiding place, at the top of the stone with his staff.
"The dawn will take you all!" Gandalf shouted, raising his baton he broke the cliff in half letting in the rising sun’s light, bringing the trolls into their stone form. Kili and Fili were the first ones to rush over to me, slashing the rope that rested around my body.
"You!" Thorin howled, charging over to me quicker than those trolls could cook. "You're a digonisk and you couldn't handle a few trolls? You're pathetic! How do you expect to handle Smaug?"
"For your information, I didn't interfere because I spotted Gandalf, if I had used my magic then some of us would've been dead and Gandalf's plan would've failed!"
"I'd rather be dead than trust you with the success of Smaug's death. Go back home, your nothing but a burden." His nephews go to defend me but I stop them, I was tired of Thorin's insults.
"You think I can't handle myself?" My knuckles contacted with his nose, he stumbled backward holding his face. "I don't know I think I handled myself there quite nicely." Kili and his brother couldn't help but smirk at my strategy, but it disappeared as Thorin rushed towards me.
"Thorin, may I speak with you?" Gandalf pleaded, making Thorin stop and turn away his attention from me for just a moment. Though I knew I made a mistake, for that scowl was now imprinted in my brain. He wouldn't forget this...
Chapter 1: The company
Chapter 2: The Journey Begins
I pulled the rope, fastening my bag to one of the ponies. I didn't speak to anyone the next morning, besides no one was going to try to talk to me anyway. The company would only speak to their kin, and as I passed by heading to the front of the line I was given dirty looks. Except for Kili, he smiled and waved but his brother shoved his arm down, scolding him for even looking my way. I sighed and walked past some more dwarves, and each scowl gave me a funny feeling in my heart. I couldn't understand what it was, but it hurt deeply, like knives to my soul.
"Y/n." Gandalf greeted me with a smile, letting me pass by. "Once we're out of the shire, you will scout ahead and report anything back to us." He leaned down slightly, so I could only hear. "We're also making a bet on if Bilbo is coming, wish to participate?" I looked towards the rest, they all seemed to be having fun. The talk of the Hobbit showing up again brought them entertainment.
"No, we're heading into a dark path Gandalf. If I were to partake in their silly affairs I'd only ruin the fun." He groaned, standing up straight to get on his horse.
"You know, it won't hurt to have a little bit of fun. You'll be riding with Thorin, for now, being in the front will give you the advantage to take in your surroundings." He was right, in the front of the line I would be able to listen to the woods, there was something dark out there. Something will be following us, I don't know what, but whatever it is it's not good.
"Are you sure he's alright with the idea of me riding with him?" He grimaced at the question, I should have figured Thorin wasn't going to accept it.
"He's not happy, just don't antagonize him and you'll be alright." My very presence puts him on edge, speaking of the devil he came up behind me with those blue orbs piercing into mine. He didn't say a word to me, he just climbed onto his pony looking ahead. Hesitantly I go to climb on but his hand stretched out, he was waiting for me to take it.
"Hurry up we don't have all day." He growled, quickly I pulled myself on and sat in front of him. I gasped at his warmth, it felt nice with his chest against my back. "Lead." His gruff voice made me shiver, I kicked the pony lightly and she went off. We made our way down the path, passing multiple Hobbits that were nearby. One was a child, a small girl about half the size of me. She waved with a wide grin, I couldn't help but wave back eagerly. It's been a while since I've seen children, my kind barely has any men around. The cold blast killed most of our soldiers who were men, so not a lot of children are born these days. Let's just hope those reports will save my people, and we can have a fresh start with alliances. "So, does all of your kind have wings like yours?" His question surprised me, he wanted to know more about my kin? Why? Was he planning for war?
"Why do you want to know? Are you planning to kill us all already?"
"I am just curious about your race, I haven't heard much about it. From the tales my grandfather and father told me, most don't have wings unless they're born with it."
"Hm." I knew all about their race, and the fact that he wanted to know more about mine intrigued me. "Some have wings, it depends on if you have a certain gene in your blood."
"How big is your homeland?"
"It was huge, bigger than the city of Erebor. Yet where we live now, is small considering your kind took our home." I snarled, he took a deep breath, probably to calm himself. His hands then gripped my cloak, and he pulled me against his chest roughly.
"I suggest you don't annoy me, for I won't be responsible for what happens to you on this trip." He was threatening me, I bet if we were attacked he'd leave me for dead.
"And I suggest you let go of me, I won't kill you but I think you'll be fine with a few fingers missing." I turned my head to face him, he was extremely close, our noses almost touching. Reluctantly he leaned back slightly, releasing me from his hold.
"I can't wait to reclaim my homeland, then I'll have you out of my sight. I won't have to deal with your kind anymore, your murderers. I don't know what Gandalf was thinking."
"He was thinking, that your weak, too weak to take down a dragon. If you want me to help you, I recommend you be friendly for I can easily leave you behind. I'll find a way into that mountain myself, so watch your words Thorin Oakenshield." He went to protest but was interrupted by shouting, it was Bilbo running from the entrance of the shire. We were in the middle of the woods now, I pull on the reigns to stop from going any further. Bilbo ran towards us, waving the contract in his hand, panting heavily.
"I signed it." He exclaims, panting heavily as he handed the contract to Balin. Balin pulls out a monocle to check the paper. It looked like Bilbo had brought everything from home with him.
"Everything appears to be in order. Welcome, Master Baggins, to the company of Thorin Oakenshield." Balin smiles, and surprisingly it didn't disappear when his eyes met mine. The warm smile made me happy, didn't he hear the rumors people had spread about my kind? Why was he so nice to me?
"Give him a pony," Thorin ordered, nudging me to keep going which I obey.
"No, no, no, no. That-That won’t be necessary. Thank you. I’m sure I can keep up on foot. Yeah, I’ve done my fair share of walking holidays, you know? Even got as far as Frog Morton once." Bilbo refuses, but they didn't listen to his cries. Suddenly two of the dwarves grab hold of his arms, pick him up, and placed him directly on Minty. As we all rode along in the woods, I could hear the dwarves talking to each other.
"Come on, Nori! Pay up!" Oin demanded, the sound of coins clinking together reached my ears.
"The rest of the dwarves took gambles on if Mr. Baggins would show," Thorin explained, however, I already knew this due to Gandalf.
"What about you Thorin? Did you participate?" I said looking at him, he shook his head laughing slightly.
"I don't participate in silly affairs, though if I did I would've guessed he wouldn't have come." I can see how that's true, sometimes people just don't want to leave home. They'd rather stay in their safe comfy beds, and I was one of them. "You seem deep in thought." My cheeks turned red as I realized I had been staring at him the entire time.
"I'm alright." Clearing my throat awkwardly only to hear Bilbo shouting about something else.
"Uh-wait, wait. Stop! Stop! We have to turn around." Thorin groaned and I slowed the pony down, waiting to hear Bilbo's excuse.
"What on earth is the matter?" Gandalf wondered, he was riding a larger horse than the rest of us.
"I forgot my handkerchief." We can't just stop and go back because of some handkerchief, it would only be a waste of time.
"Here! Use this." Bofur rips off a bit of cloth from his robe and throws it to Bilbo, who looks at it with disgust.
"Move on!" Thorin announces, and I continue down the path of our journey. Later that night, we stopped by the entrance of a small cave. I slept close to the edge of the entrance, my wings keeping me warm and hidden from the others. That's when I heard shuffling behind me, it was Thorin setting down his sleeping bag.
"Did you miss me already?" I joked, making him roll his eyes annoyed.
"One of us has to watch you, you might try and kill us in our sleep." I just turned back around, curling back up into a small ball. It was colder outside than I expected, I should've brought warmer clothes. I shivered as a gust of wind blew our way, it took a while for me to fall asleep. The cold wasn't helping me at all, but I finally managed to sleep into unconsciousness. That is until I woke up to howls, not just any normal howls, wargs. I sat up, searching the area, getting ready to strike if I had to. The orcs were far off into the distance but I saw them, I could feel the evilness radiating off of them.
"You think that’s funny? You think a night raid by orcs is a joke?" Thorin yelled making me turn to him, he stood up abruptly, his fur coat missing. That's when I realized it was on me, he had laid his coat on me to keep me warm but why? What was his reason for being kind to me?
"We didn’t mean anything by it," Kili stated, looking down at the ground in shame.
"No, you didn’t. You know nothing of the world." Thorin angrily walks off, I had an urge to go try and cheer him up. He did give me his coat, after all, I could at least do something nice. Slowly I made my way over to him, he hadn't sensed my presence yet.
"Thorin?" I called letting out a small yawn. He didn't face me, instead, he kept his gaze pit on the horizon.
"Go away." He ordered but I refused to listen, my feet made their way next to him. He scowled at me, but said nothing else, he only just crossed his arms. His hand caught my attention, it was bigger than most, his fingers were twice the size of mine. Without thinking I tugged on it, making his eyes avert to me. I placed my hand against him, comparing the sizes. "Y/n?" He mutters, wondering what I was up to.
"Your hands, they're so much bigger than mine. For such tiny men, you certainly have large fingers, it's fascinating." I looked up at him, his eyes widened at my comment. "You know as a child I used to wonder what the tiny men of our world looked like, I tried to learn everything about dwarves that I could. My kingdom's library had multiple books about your culture, I have to admit it was interesting to learn about your courting styles."
"You know of our courting ritual?"
"Of course, I know everything about each race. I was a very strange child at that age, yet one question remained unanswered. Why do dwarves keep their hair long?" He smiled at my curiosity, those deep blue ocean eyes stared at me in adoration. Though those furious eyes returned, and he angrily pulled his hand away.
"You shouldn't be asking questions about courting, it's not as if anyone would marry your kind anyway." He lifted his hand, glaring at it in disgust. "Now I have to wash away the filth you have spread upon me." My heart broke a little as if a piece had shred from the flesh. As he stormed off I wondered what ran through his mind, he was the sweet innocent man a few seconds ago. What made him irritated with me? Thorin went back to the place we had been sleeping, and he grabbed his cloak moving to the other side of the camp. Each dwarf turned their head my way, and only three of them grinned at me.
"I'll keep watch," I spoke as I returned to my make-shift bed. It would be better if I stayed away from the others, at least that's not what Kili thought. Cause a few seconds later he plopped down right next to me. "What are you doing? Won't the others scold you for sitting next to me?"
"Who cares, they can argue all they want. No one should be alone, I'll keep watch with you." My heart swelled at his kindness, why was he being so nice to me? Did he believe me than those foolish rumors the others had heard? He frowned slightly, he was serious now. "Are you ok Y/n?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be? I've dealt with stubborn dwarves before believe me. Their rudeness hardly bothers me anymore." I lied, staring down at my hands. How could this world think such cruel thoughts about my kind, why did Thror have to lie about us? Kili placed his hand on mine to try and calm me, and lightly he caressed it with his thumb.
"You know not all of us hate you, me, Balin, and my brother Fili we know the truth. I told my brother what you told me, and he sort of believes it. You don't seem like the angry ravaging digonisks we've heard about, and besides the reports in those mountains is evidence that your kin is innocent. Speaking of Balin however, he wanted me to tell you that when you get a chance he wishes to speak with you." I glanced over the white-haired dwarf who gave me a small smile. I wonder what he wants to talk to me about? Maybe his politeness was just a ruse to kill me in secret, what if Kili is doing the same? Ever since I've joined the company I haven't thought of the consequences, I treat them as if they're normal men. I have to be more careful if I am to get to the mountain. "You know you should probably get some sleep, we'll need those wings again."
"No, they're orcs not far, they're watching us. I need to be awake just in case they decide to come our way. I appreciate the gesture, sleep Kili, you and your kin are the most important people here after all." He opened his mouth to protest, but kept quiet and snuggled up in his bed. I kept my eyes on the frontier, watching as the orcs scattered away but I knew they would be back, they always come back.
~♪♠♪~
The harsh wind blasted against me, the building fell apart from the ice that covered the bricks. Shouts were heard from all over, but the only I could focus on was my mother's. My legs hurt bad, but her condition was worse, there was an ice shard in her side. It no longer looked like liquid water, instead, it was nothing but a melting ice block of blood.
"Mommy!" I reached out for her, my hand reaching out to try and save her from the man that stood close. His sword was raised ready to strike, and that's when I saw his face. Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of our company.
"Die filth!" His sword came crashing down hard, and as it decapitated her head I shot up. My chest beating fast, it was just a dream, just a dream. Most dwarves were asleep, the only one awake was Kili who was taking over my shift. I had fallen asleep, how could have been so stupid? He could've hurt me, or worse slaughtered me like the rest of my family. My body trembled as he came close to me, worry showing in his brown eyes.
"Kili stay back!" I warned, he raised his hands as a symbol of peace.
"I won't hurt you, I promise...are you alright?" I was shaking violently, and it wasn't because of the wind that blew our way. "Are you cold? Here." He sheds his cloak going to hand it to me but I shake my head.
"N-Nightmare." That was all I managed to get out, he dropped the piece of clothing on the floor and slowly made his way over showing that he had no weapons. When he was close enough he wrapped his arms around me, making me gasp. I didn't hug back, for I was waiting for any sign that this wasn't a nice gesture. It didn't come, he just pulled me closer, and I have to admit the hug was very helpful. I listened to his breathing, and eventually, it helped my heart stop beating at a rapid speed. He smelled of sweat and pine wood, surprisingly it was a soothing smell.
"Want to talk about it?" He whispered, pulling back to look at me as his thumb rubbed softly against my skin as a way to calm me down.
"No, it was just a silly dream. It's not as if you would care anyhow."
"I do care, and just in case another agonizing fantasy comes across your mind I'll sit right here. So if you do have another nightmare I'll be here to help." He gently pulled me into his side, which I hesitantly accepted, and soon I went senseless, succumbing to the darkness.
For the next few days when I wasn't flying above them to keep watch, I rode with Thorin. The more we rode together, the more he didn't mind it. Soon it was like second nature to him, and every morning when it was time to leave he would hold out his hand to help me on the pony. Although he was extra grumpy today as we continued our journey in the woods while riding in the torrential rain.
"Here, Mr. Gandalf? Can’t you do something about this deluge?" Dori begged, but to no avail, nothing could be done. Well at least for them, considering I was a dragon slayer and immune to fire. One of my abilities was magic, and that magic included creating ablaze. I felt Thorin shiver from behind me, and I felt bad. I never did thank him for letting me use his cloak the other night.
"Thorin take the reigns," I ordered, turning around on the horse, immediately he grabbed the reigns as I let go.
"What on earth do you think your doing woman?" He growled, his eyes piercing into my own. Resting a hand upon his chest, he blushed slightly at the contact I used just a little bit of my charms to summon some heat. "What curse are you putting on me? Get your filthy hands off of me!"
"It's not a curse, it's a spell to keep you warm you ass. Now hold still or I just might burn you." He growled and lifted his head to try and see in front of him, I wasn't that tall. After a few seconds of straining his neck to see, he eventually rested his chin on the top of my head lightly. "I'm not your headrest you know."
"Well, I can't see around your thick skull."
"It's not that big! I'm shorter than you!"
"Shorter, but your head is certainly wider. Are you sure you have a brain in there?" I burned him slightly, making him wince.
"Keep talking 'Oh great one' and see where it gets you. Your lucky I'm even giving you warmth, I could just keep it all to myself." I returned the heat to normal and leaned my head on his chest. His breathing went rigid for a second, then slowed down but his heartbeat sped up.
"...What other powers do you have?" He asked, moving closer to my hand to get warmer. I slipped it down to his side, making him jump. "Watch it."
"Other than fire, I have a vast amount of strength. I could rip a tree out of the ground, second I can fly at fast speeds while spreading my wings. Soldiers with wings are called our airborne army, they attack from above and can kill dragons a lot easier. Last but not least, only the royal line can take on the form of a dragon. At least we used to, The Power of The Black Dragon was lost long ago. It is passed down from generation to generation, but the Queen with the ability died along with it." My mother, just a year before my coronation to take on my birthright was gravely injured from the frozen blast caused by men. She passed away, I never got to tell her that I loved her. The last thing I ever said to her was 'I'm scared'. Though I will never forget her last words, 'don't take revenge.'
"How many more are there?"
"Once there were millions of us, and now because of people like you, there is only 1,000. I hope your happy, cause soon we'll be extinct."
"No, cause soon you'll get those reports. And you'll show the world the mistake we caused." He whispered, his comment made my heart swoon. Had he said what I thought he had confessed?
"Thank you." It was all I could say, I felt him smile as he wrapped his arms tightly around me. He was trying to keep me warm like I was doing to him, perhaps he's not like the monster from my dreams.
Prologue
Chapter 1: The Company
"Do you have to leave?" Lani asked as she handed me my bag, she was always the nervous one.
"Yes, it's important. Take care of things while I'm gone, I have faith in you Lani. I'll be back before you know it." Lani was like a younger sister to me, the one always hiding behind the older one. While I was going to be missing, I put her in charge of the kingdom. She knew how everything worked, she was always there next to me when I was taking care of business anyhow. Of course, after a few days of traveling to the shire I wanted to turn back to see if she was alright, but I knew I had to keep going. And eventually, I stood in front of the green door with a dwarven letter carved into it. Taking a deep breath I knocked, and the voices I had heard went quiet. It's just a bunch of dwarves, nothing to be worried about. The door opened to reveal a hobbit, not as tall as me but he was up to my shoulders.
"Uh, c-come in." He steps to the side, and I walked forward, they must've been expecting me. Setting my bag down by the front door, I took in everything. It was small and cozy, I wish my home looked like this. Continuing on I came across the thirteen dwarves Gandalf had mentioned.
"This is Y/n Y/l/n, I believed she could be a wonderful asset to our quest." The raven-haired man couldn't keep his eyes off me, it was like he was dazed, now that I think about it every dwarf's gaze was still on me. Including a young man about my height, maybe even taller. I smirked, hello handsome, my cheeks burned a shade of crimson as I realized my thought process. Gandalf nudged the man to get his attention, and he snaps out of his trance.
"My name is Thorin Oakenshield, it is a pleasure to meet you, my lady." He bowed his head slightly, giving me a small smile.
"You won't be saying that in a few seconds," I muttered, Gandalf swallowed nervously as he said his next words carefully.
"I should mention, that Y/n is also...The Queen of The Digonisks. The Soul Of The Black Dragon." Everyone's eyes widened, but no one said a word except the blond man in the back.
"What's a Digonisk?"
"There dragons, and murderers." Thorin glared at me with a fire in those blue orbs. I just rolled my eyes, of course, that's what he thought of me. Yet how could we be the murderers when their kind slaughtered mine? "I want her out, that filth cannot come on this quest with us."
"'That filth' has a name you know, and for your information, it's not really up to you now is it?" I exclaimed, he went to protest but Gandalf held out his hand to silence him.
"She can help us Thorin, she has the ability to take down Smaug. She might be the only one who can."
"I don't care." He abruptly stood, not even a foot away from me. "Leave, or I'll strike you down where you stand." Silently, I conjured a dagger and placed right against his side making him gasp.
"You'll be dead before you can even draw your sword, you should be thankful I came to help. I could've easily said no and let karma continue it's pace. Especially after what your kin did to us, you took my home, killed my people! Your no better than Smaug himself. Now sit." I forced him back into his chair, his hand gripped tightly on his blade. He wants to play does he? Bring it on.
"Enough!" Gandalf stood, making the room fill with darkness. "I brought her along, and so she shall stay, if you try to lay a hand on her I won't hesitate to lay one on you." He was furious, but as he sat back down the room turned back to normal. Each dwarf was scowling at me, except the two in the back. Right, they don't know the history between us.
"It was nice meeting you, your majesty." I bowed, and turned back towards the door. "I'll be outside, tell me when we're leaving."
"Wait! You haven't even heard about-" Gandalf stands but I raise my hand, silencing him. "At least stay and listen." I stopped, I already new of their quest, there was no reason for me to be in this room. And none of them probably didn't want me to stay anyhow.
"You can sit by us." The man in the back offered, patting the seat next to him with a smile. The other's hissed at him but he ignored their comments, making my way to the end of the table, I sit between him and the blond. Both were slightly blushing, and staring at me with those beautiful eyes though trying to make it less obvious. Thorin continues to eat his stew, making very little eye-contact with me.
"Perhaps we could do introductions? I still only know two of the people in this room."
"Right, that would be best." Gandalf agreed, and he pointed to each individual as he named them off. "Here you have Thorin, the leader of our company. Bofur, with his brothers Bomber and Bifur, then Dwalin, Balin, Gloin, Oin, Dori, Nori and Ori. Then last but not least the two next to you, Kili and Fili." None of them seemed happy, if looks could kill I would've been dead the moment Gandalf mentioned what I was. When Gandalf named off Kili, he winked at me while slightly smirking. I winked back making him look away embarrassed, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself.
"What news from the meeting in Ered Luin? Did they all come?" Balin asked, looking over at his king, who nods.
"Aye, envoys from all seven kingdoms."
"And what did the dwarves of the Iron Hill say? Is Dain with us?" Dwalin asked, Thorin hesitated as he stated his answer.
"They will not come." The other dwarves become visibly upset, I decided that this might take awhile. So I played with the little flame that came from my finger, it didn't burn me for I was immune to fire. I was in my own mind, my own little world while humming a melody.
"Can she please leave?" I heard Thorin whisper, leaning closer to the wizard. "She does not belong here." Gandalf knew nothing would get done if I stayed, so he gives me a pleading look. Happily I left the table, and headed back outside, it felt nice out here. Sitting on the pavement I watched the stars, they were a lot farther away now. My kingdom was high up in the sky, higher than the mountain of Erebor. It's far above the clouds where no eye can see, Gandalf made it that way with the help of my mother's grimoire. He made what's called a floating island, only digonisks and wizards can enter. I heard the hobbit door open, and out came Kili with a bowl of food.
"Here." Kili smiled handing me a bowl of stew. "I thought you would be hungry, so I brought you some stew."
"I'm not eating that, especially not from a dwarf." He slowly brought it back to himself, he seemed upset for some reason.
"It's not poisoned if that's what your worried about." He muttered, sitting down next to me. "Here I can test taste it." He quickly took a bite, showing that it wasn't fatal. He handed it back to me with a look of hope.
"Thank you." I took it from him, and hesitantly took my first bite. It tasted delicious, even my people didn't have soup made like this. "Did you make this yourself?"
"Ah no, Bombur made it, mostly for us but I figured you were hungry." Well at least he had some manners, he's certainly more nicer than Thorin. "Don't worry about my uncle, he just, he told me why he hates your kind. Even though that happened, you weren't the one doing the killing."
"Of course he's already spreading rumours." Kili glanced over at me with curiosity. "How about you hear my side of the story. Believe which ever one you want, it won't matter." Cause soon my people will be set free, and each and everyone of you will be filled with guilt. "My kin aren't killers, the village of Hargen had been over run by orcs. We were the first ones to respond to the crisis, and we had driven out the enemy. Yet when the dwarves showed up, Thror believed it to be us who slaughtered them. That wasn't the case, blinded by rage he started rumours about us, saying we weren't peaceful and that we were murders. There already had been rumours, but that was mostly because Digonisks are extremely powerful. The people of Middle Earth knew that if we tried, we could over power them. When they started making rumours, they thought that we would go hide in the shadows. Yet we stilled stayed strong, and when that wasn't enough..." A single tear slipped down my cheek, the horror that occurred in that building was enough to make someone insane. I quickly wiped it away, I can't let him see me weak. "...The dwarves became the true monsters, them and mankind had invited us to the grand ball. I was only a child then, but I remember I was so excited to see the tiny men that roamed our world. Most of us had showed up, and when the doors closed the explosions started."
"...I'm sorry you went through that, but if you hate dwarves so much. Why come and help us?"
"There is something in that mountain that proves my kin is innocent. Reports from Thror himself about what really happened that day. And I intend to find it, so my people can be free once again. That's the main reason why Gandalf brought me here, he showed me a letter from Thrain. Explaining where to find the reports." He looked back to sky, wondering what to say next. I continued to eat my stew, and once I was finished he offered to take the bowl from me.
"Come back inside, surely if you explain to my uncle what's in that mountain he won't hate you as much." I hadn't thought of that, but what if he decides to go burn the papers before I get there? Though he seemed like a respectful man, and if we are going to be working together on this journey then he has to see me as an ally.
"Alright, might as well give it a try." He smiled and grabbed my hand dragging me along with him. "K-Kili wait!" He seemed more excited than I, as we passed each dwarf grimaced at the sight of me.
"Uncle!" Kili exclaimed catching Thorin's attention, he immediately separated our hands. Stepping infront of his nephew he pulled out his sword, pointing it at my neck.
"I suggest you put that thing away, wouldn't want a wizard and a Digonisk fighting you now do you? I have come to show you something, it might make this trip a whole lot easier." He didn't budge, reaching into my cloak I pulled out the same scroll Gandalf had brought me. Thorin slowly took it from my hands and undid the ribbon, his eyes widened in shock at his father's handwriting.
"How did you get this?" He looked back to me, he had hope that his father was alive.
"Gandalf gave it to me, it's the main reason I'm here." Thorin seemed to be more at ease with me in the room now. Did he actually believe his father's words?
"What does is say Thorin?" Balin asked coming closer, Thorin couldn't believe his eyes. Gradually he handed the scroll back to me, and all I saw was remorse in those blue orbs.
"It was written by my father, he says that in my grandfathers room the truth about her kind remain. The real reports about what happened that day in Hargen, if this is true then..." He couldn't finish his sentence, a thousand emotions appeared at once.
"This doesn't mean anything, it could be a lie. Those reports could show something different, but we still don't know if the evidence lies in the mountain." Dwalin interrupted, making the furious look on Thorin's face return. Well so much for that, Gandalf sighs in disappointment. Even he had hope that Thorin would be reasonable, I went to head back outside but Thorin grabs my arm.
"If your coming with us, then you have to sign the contract. I won't be responsible for your death, nor do I feel like dealing with a bunch of angry dragon slayers." Balin, kindly handed me a piece of paper, inside read the rules and what not. They would not be responsible for anything that happens to me, which was fine but if I were to die who would set my people free?
"I want to add something to this, if I am to go on this journey and I die. You must set my people free, get the reports from your grandfather's room and show everyone that my people are innocent. That is all I ask." He seemed shocked at my request, although I didn't want to trust him with this kind of task it was the only way my people would be safe after I'm gone.
"Get me a pen." He grumbled, using my magic I summoned an ethereal white feather. He watched as I wrote down my terms and signed it, then when I handed him the pen he couldn't help but stare at it. It glowed brightly in his hand, never had he seen something like this. After examining it he signed his name on the line, then handed the pen to Balin who signed it as a witness.
"Welcome, Queen Y/n to the company of Thorin Oakenshield." He smiled, that made me feel somewhat welcome. At least he has manners like Thorin's nephew, maybe all dwarves aren't so bad.
"Your welcome to stay inside, get as much sleep as you can. You'll need it for the journey ahead, I have a feeling we're going to be needing those wings of yours." Gandalf suggested but Kili and Fili perked up at his comment.
"Wings? She has wings?" Kili asked coming closer, taking off my cloak I spread them. "I didn't even realize the you could fly!"
"They look a lot smaller when folded, but yes I have wings. There easy to hide under a robe, and not very noticeable." He reached over to touch them, I flinched slightly as his fingers ran over the scales.
"May I?" Thorin asked with a light blush on his face, how could the king under the mountain have rosy cheeks? I nodded, watching him cautiously as he ran his hand over my skin. He let out a small smile as he stretched them farther to get a better look. "They're huge, how could they be so small when tucked away?" He muttered, but when he realized he was getting a little into this he stepped back. That stern look returning to his features. "Get some sleep." That was the last thing he said before walking away, at least he's somewhat warming up to me. I settled in the corner of the hobbit's house away from everyone else, surrounding myself with my wings to keep me warm. After a few minutes of silence, I heard voices again except this time it was the dwarves singing a song. "Far over the Misty Mountains cold. To dungeons deep and caverns old. We must away ere break of day. To find our long-forgotten gold." Thorin's voice was most audible, and for some reason, it soothed me.
"The pines were roaring on the height, the winds were moaning in the night. The fire was red, it flaming spread. The trees like torches blazed with light." I sang along, which made the dwarves silent. The song wasn't unknown to me, everyone outside of the shire knew the story of Erebor. After a moment they sang along after I joined, but softer than before. Maybe because they loved my voice? Or maybe my voice soothed Thorin and he wanted to hear more, as he reassured me.
