MORE RAREPAIRS RARH🗣‼️
Hello, guess who is watching The Alienist again and is suffering like never before? Yes, it's me and it's because the first season is going great AND THEN THE SECOND SEASON EXIST—
Anywayss, One of the few things that I rescue from AoD it's Karen Stratton, she's great and super cute and intriguing anddd I love her... SO I MADE A SHIP WITH SARA BECAUSE I WANT TO FORGET ABOUT ALL THE FUCKING DRAMA WITH JOHN AND THE VIENA THING AND EVERYTHING OKAY?! OKAY
Tumblr media
I don't remember if they have interactions and I'm not going to watch the season to find out... so haha :3
Tumblr media
And this, I'm going to be honest and say that I didn't see anything from the season in depth until after I made this drawing and I swore that Karen had dark eyes... and no, she has blue eyes apparently🕴
Soo yeah, I also continue with my fixation with TFATWS but idk, I went back to the alienist out nowhere and I love having done it :P

The Alienist show was on my watchlist on Netflix for literal years. Years! I saw it was leaving soon, so I decided to binge watch it, and I fell in love with season 1 (season 2 had some things I disliked, like Marcus dying, but still). I’m gonna look into the books now, but can we talk how bad it is to finally get into something years after it came out, and all online discourse is over, there is no fanfiction, headcanons or expansion from fans anymore, and almost no one is talking about it? I’m dying to talk about it with someone, but it fells like I’m the only one here.
I feel you!! I don't feel like the fandom is entirely dead, but God I wish I had been here as soon as the series came out. I tend to hyperfixiate so a proper fan over-excited answer on here would have been fine.
I've been preparing some texts to post here and a few fanfictions but haven't got the inspiration lately. Caleb Carr passing away has weirdly kept me away from re-reading the books, so I lost my inspiration.
I will rewatch the show, since you reminded me it will leave soon. How nice you did watch it in the end! And I 100% recommend the books (if you go down my profile, you'll know how much I adore them).
Of course we can talk about The Alienist. For starters, who thought it was a good idea to kill Marcus??!! I promise you, the book will leave you so much more satisfied.

FANS OF THE ALIENIST WILL LOVE THE RIPPER LIVES
Tumblr media
The Ripper Lives is a Victorian gothic murder mystery that continues the story of Jack the Ripper after the Canonical Five. The serialized novel is narrated from a first-person perspective by Scotland Yard Inspector Frederick Abberline after retirement. Abberline, greatly bothered that the public has never been given closure in the Ripper case, finally reveals what happened after the death of Mary Jane Kelly, confirming that the Ripper did not just disappear into history as many believe.
Like The Alienist, the 10-part novel follows the 19th-century investigation of an unknown serial killer and includes historical facts. Many famous names associated with the Jack the Ripper case appear and interact with the characters, enhancing the connection between the fictional story and the real-life events.
ABOUT THE RIPPER LIVES: JACK THE RIPPER'S REIGN OF TERROR CONTINUES The world’s most elusive and terrifying serial killer returns in the 10-part Victorian gothic murder mystery series, The Ripper Lives. Dripping with 19th-century atmosphere and intrigue, each thrilling, suspense-filled chapter ends with a shocking cliffhanger that compels the reader forward. The fear builds as the historical horror story unfolds, culminating in an explosive, mind-bending conclusion.
The Ripper Lives is a sequel to the true story that commences after the slayings of the Canonical Five. As a secretly appointed task force works to bring the butcher to justice under the radar of the newspapers, the unsuspecting public believes the threat has subsided. But while hiding in the shadows, the serial killer's compulsion to mutilate has grown exponentially stronger, and for Whitechapel, the harrowing nightmare of tension and terror has only just begun.

what the hell was the second season of the alienist?
first of all this killed marcus? MARCUS? MY FAVORITE CHARACTER? why?
and lucius was left fucking alone? no. just no. they were so precious. just DON'T TOUCH THE SIBLINGS, anyone but them.
I'm in tears.
also John and Sara? why this ending? violet could have had a great character development but no let's solve this triangle (there was no triangle to being with tbh) in an absurd way.
Laszlo is happy. I'm happy. even though I would have liked to see him more during the season. but I really loved that he finally acknowledged that he needs to think about himself and his happiness too.
how the actual plot ended was actually pretty great so I'm not gonna complain.

OKAY I AM SO HAPPY
I started reading The Angel of Darkness yesterday and IT HAS A MAP (that would have been so useful in the first book). Problem is that it's almost impossible to read, so I looked it up on Google.
AND I FOUND A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO "THE ALIENIST". It has tons of stuff I can't stop going over; News on Caleb Carr, analysis, sumaries, information, EVEN MAPS with the locations of the places mentioned in the books.
It's not official but it's SO GOOD. And here it is!
Actual footage of me after spending an hour on reading everything in there:

(Only thing: I'm having problems subscribing to it, but still can check it though)
