i love reading your comments and reblogs, so please do so if you liked reading this<3
HEESEUNG
heeseung was the guy who always sat in the back of the library, oversized hoodie pulled up and earbuds blasting lo-fi playlists. not because he was trying to look cool and aloof—he just didn’t know how to talk to people. heeseung’s whole vibe screamed ‘leave me alone’, and yet, you were drawn to him. maybe it was the way his big glasses always slid down his nose or how he’d stammer when the librarian asked if he needed help. there was a sweetness to his awkwardness, a genuine quality that made him stand out(not to mention how devastatingly handsome he was).
you started leaving him little sticky notes on the library desk when he wasn’t looking, simple messages like “nice doodles!” or “your handwriting is cute<3” the day he caught you in the act, his face turned the color of a ripe tomato.
“you think my handwriting’s c-cute?” he stuttered, practically vibrating with nervous energy.
a bit nervous, you laughed and nodded. “yeah, i do. and i think you’re cute too.”
heeseung froze, his pen dropping to the table. “wait, you… you think i’m cute?” he sounded so disbelieving it was almost funny.
when you confessed that you liked him, he spent two weeks in disbelief, constantly asking if you were joking. but after you assured him that no, you weren’t pulling some cruel prank, he became utterly devoted. he’d text you good morning every day, walk you to your classes while carrying your books (even when you insisted you could manage), and write you poetry—the kind of cringe, over-the-top poetry that made your heart melt anyway.
heeseung was the kind of boyfriend who’d get embarrassingly jealous but try to hide it. if someone so much as glanced at you for too long, he’d fidget nervously and mumble something about how they were probably just admiring how amazing you were. and if you hugged him in public? forget it. he’d be grinning like an idiot for the rest of the day.
when he wasn’t nervously doting on you, he was daydreaming about your future together. he’d scribble little sketches of the two of you in his notebook, complete with hearts and statements like “me + you = forever.” if you teased him about it, he’d turn beet red and try to deny it, but you could see the tiny smile playing on his lips.
rest is under the cut!
JAY
jay was the guy in your science class who thought he could blend in by keeping his head down. what he didn’t realize was that his nervous habits were endearing: the way he’d mumble answers to himself during group work or adjust his glasses every 30 seconds. he was always sketching random diagrams in his notebook—half for class, half because he was too awkward to make conversation.
you had a crush on him because, despite his shyness, there was something magnetic about the way he focused—his brows furrowing as he sketched diagrams in his notebook, the faintest pout forming on his lips when he was deep in concentration. one time, you caught him organizing the classroom supplies, his long fingers deftly sorting through tape dispensers and markers while muttering something about order.
when you mentioned you liked him, jay blinked at you like he couldn’t comprehend the words. “me? like me, me?” he asked, pointing to himself.
you nodded, trying not to giggle at how wide his eyes had gotten. “yes, you. i think you’re really sweet.”
jay’s face turned a deep shade of red, and he immediately started rambling. “i mean, i… uh, wow, okay, i didn’t expect this. are you sure? like, really sure? because i’m kind of a mess, and—”
once it clicked, though, he was all in. he’d send you paragraphs of text apologizing if he thought he said something wrong, shower you with small, thoughtful gifts (like your favorite snacks or a plant he’d researched how to care for), and eventually worked up the courage to hold your hand—though he’d sweat buckets the entire time.
jay would also start making lists—actual, physical lists—of things he could do to make you happy. “compliment her at least once a day,” “remember her favorite coffee order!,” and “learn how to not be a complete dork >:(” were scrawled on a sticky note tucked into his notebook. and when he wasn’t nervously doting on you, he was daydreaming about you, doodling your initials in the margins of his notes.
very soon, he was down-bad for you, which was evident through his real life and his social media activities. he’d post the cheesiest captions about you, like “can’t believe i’m dating the most amazing person in the world” with a blurry photo of the two of you. his friends teased him mercilessly, but he didn’t care. to him, you were worth every bit of embarrassment. late at night, he’d re-read your old texts and smile like an idiot, convinced he was the luckiest person alive.
JAKE
jake was a lovable mess. he wore mismatched socks, always seemed to forget his pencil, and somehow managed to trip over air at least once a day. his “plan” to talk to you involved him awkwardly hovering near your desk and pretending to need help with math problems he already knew how to solve. you knew from the start he was a bit of a loser—but that’s exactly why you liked him along with you finding everything he did adorable.
“wait, wait,” he said when you told him you were into him. “you like me? like, romantically? or is this a ‘pity me’ situation?”
after realizing you genuinely liked him, jake became a golden retriever in human form. he’d facetime you at random hours just to say hi, take you on chaotic “dates” that involved him occasionally tripping over things in public, nervously ordering food for you both and all silly fun activities like arcade games and amusement parks. it was never a dull day with him! after your first kiss, he couldn’t stop grinning for hours, texting his friends in all caps: “GUYS I JUST KISSED THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AAHJKHSSSK”
jake’s down-bad behavior reached new levels when he started making playlists for every possible mood you might have: “songs to cheer you up,” “songs that remind me of you<3,” and even “songs to study to (but only if you want to study with me):3” he’d even text you mid-class to tell you he missed you, even if you’d just seen each other that morning.
jake was also the kind of boyfriend who’d insist on carrying your bag even when it was clear it was too heavy for him. “i’ve got this!” he’d say, wincing slightly but refusing to let you take it back. and if you ever mentioned feeling sad or stressed, he’d immediately panic, asking, “what can i do? tell me, and i’ll do it!” he’d even write you little notes with nerdy jokes or doodles to make you smile, slipping them into your locker or bag for you to find later.
SUNGHOON
sunghoon thought he was slick, but his ‘cool guy’ act was so transparent it was almost cute. he’d lean against the lockers during breaks, pretending not to notice you, but the way his ears turned red every time you walked by gave him away. despite his awkward attempts at being aloof, you found his loser tendencies adorable: like how he’d secretly google pickup lines but chicken out before using them.
when you confessed your feelings, he genuinely choked. “wait, you like me? oh wow… you have bad- I MEAN great taste ahem.” he spent a solid week trying to act nonchalant, but once you started dating, his loser side came out full force. he’d ask you to “rate his outfits” before dates, send you selfies captioned “just thinking about you bbg,” and blush furiously every time you complimented him. sunghoon may have tried to act smooth, but deep down, he was utterly whipped.
sunghoon would also start practicing ways to compliment you in the mirror—only to mess it up completely when the time came. “y-you look… uh, very… beautiful? no, wait, gorgeous! that’s the word i meant!” and everytime you smiled at him, he’d be texting his friends, “she smiled at me again!!!!! i’m gonna pass out.”
his devotion extended to doing the smallest things for you, like bringing you your favorite drink or snacks without you asking. he’d even memorise your schedule so he could “accidentally” bump into you between classes, claiming it was coincidence even though the timing was suspiciously perfect. at night, he’d lay awake replaying your conversations, smiling at the ceiling like the lovesick fool he was.
SUNOO
you had noticed sunoo always sitting at the edge of friend groups, laughing along but never quite joining in. he was bubbly and fun but had an air of self-doubt that made him endearing. you started noticing how he’d always bring extra snacks to share with classmates or go out of his way to compliment people—little acts of kindness that made your heart flutter. not to mention his angelic beauty, that had you look twice the first time you had seen him standing near the water cooler awkwardly.
it was hard not to develop a crush and when you told sunoo you liked him, he’d blink in disbelief. “no way. you’re joking, right?” but after realising you were serious, he’d giggle nervously and hide his face in his hands. once you started dating, he became the most attentive boyfriend ever, remembering every small detail about you and hyping you up like you were the main character. he’d also send you cheesy tiktoks at 2 a.m. with captions like, “this is so us babe ><”
sunoo was head over heels for you, the literal epitome of “she fell first but he fell harder”. he did adorable things like creating a secret pinterest board filled with date ideas and texting you pictures of cute animals with captions like, “look, it’s us in 50 years!” he also started learning how to bake just so he could surprise you with your favorite treats—though most of his attempts ended in chaotic, flour-covered disasters.
if you ever seemed upset, sunoo would go into full panic mode, showering you with compliments and doing everything in his power to cheer you up. “you’re the most amazing person i’ve ever met,” he’d say earnestly, his eyes sparkling with sincerity. he even kept a list on his phone of all the things you’d mentioned liking, just so he could surprise you when you least expected it.
JUNGWON
jungwon was the class president who seemed to have it all together—but his close friends knew better. he was the guy who’d trip over his words during speeches, carry five planners because he kept losing them, and stress over things like forgetting to bring tape for a poster project. you liked him because, despite his loser-ish tendencies, he had a heart of gold and worked hard to make everyone feel included.
when you told him you had a crush on him, jungwon’s first reaction was to nervously laugh. “wait, me? are you sure? why would you do that to yourself!?” once he accepted that you really liked him, he became the sweetest boyfriend imaginable. he’d plan thoughtful dates (that inevitably went slightly wrong but ended up being more fun because of it), leave you encouraging notes in your locker, and get adorably flustered every time you kissed him.
jungwon also started creating “motivational speeches” for you, writing them out on notecards and practicing in the mirror before giving them. “i believe in you,” he’d say earnestly, fumbling to hand you a little note that said, “you’re amazing, and don’t you forget it.” if you teased him about it, he’d bury his face in his hands and mumble, “stop, you’re embarrassing me…”
his love didn’t stop there. he’d stay up late researching ways to make your life easier, like creating color-coded study guides or finding fun new spots to take you on dates. and if anyone dared to speak poorly of you, jungwon would step up, surprising everyone with his sudden fierceness. “they don’t know what they’re talking about,” he’d say, his tone protective and unwavering.
NI-KI
ni-ki was the quiet gamer boy who’d rather blend into the background than be noticed. he wore the same hoodie every other day and constantly had earbuds in, even when they weren’t playing anything. you liked him because of how unpretentious he was—and how his eyes lit up whenever he talked about something he loved, like a new game or a random meme he found hilarious.
when you told him you were into him, ni-ki almost dropped his controller. his eyes narrowed into a glare, “are you sure you’re not messing with me? did jake tell you about my crush?” after he realised what he had said, he immediately scampered away leaving you standing there confused. once he got over his initial shock, he became your biggest simp. he’d send you memes that reminded him of you, let you beat him at games (even though he’d deny it), and randomly text you “you’re so pretty” at the most unexpected times. around his friends, he’d brag about you non-stop, showing off pictures of you with a proud grin.
once he was down bad for you, he became hell bent on learning how to cook your favorite meals—even though he’d never cooked before in his life. “how hard can it be?” he’d say, only to panic five minutes in and call you for help. he also started staying up late to design matching gamer tags for the two of you, insisting that everyone online needed to know you were his.
in quiet moments, ni-ki would open up about how much you meant to him, his voice soft and a little shaky. “i don’t know what i did to deserve you, but i’m not letting go.” and if you ever showed up to surprise him during his gaming sessions, he’d immediately log off, saying, “sorry, guys, my priority is here,” as he turned his full attention to you.

The sound of the merriment from the feast faded into the background as I stepped out into the corridor. It was far too loud for me to handle Thor and his friends loudly shouting over each other, smashing their goblets... They had always teased me about not caring much for parties and festivities, about always having such a low social battery. But it wasn't something I could help. I longed for the quiet and solitude of the palace library, preferably with Loki's company.
I quickly but quietly made my way down the corridors of the palace in case Sif came to look for me to drag me back to the feast to try and get me to drink more mead. I would fall on my face after two goblets. Me being a lightweight was another thing they liked to tease me about.
I made it to the doors of the library, hoping to slip in there without making too much noise, but the familiar sound of a silken voice caused me to nearly jump out of my skin.
"Tired of the festivities already, are we?"
I turned to find Loki leaning against the wall of the corridor, so still and casual, that I didn't know how long he had been standing there, watching me. I placed a hand over my heart, trying to calm myself.
We had been meeting each other in secret for the past couple of months, stealing kisses when meeting up in the woods and empty corridors. He never failed to make my heart race when he stood before me, appraising me with those smoldering green eyes.
"I wish you wouldn't sneak up on me like that."
"Sorry, love. I saw you leaving the feast and knew I couldn't leave you alone in such a big palace, and let you get lost..." he said while moving closer to me.
I rolled my eyes. "You were tired of the loudness of it all too, weren't you?"
"Of course. I don't like loud gatherings anyway... I can only handle so much of my brother's idiocy." He smirked, his gaze never leaving me.
I felt my cheeks heat up as my hands fidgeted. "I plan to spend the rest of the feast in the library... would you care to join me, my prince?"
A soft chuckle escaped Loki's lips as he stepped forward to practically tower over me. He never failed to make my knees weak with his height, when I was not even short myself. He brought one hand up to gently caress my chin as he lifted my eyes to meet his.
"Nothing would make me happier, love."
We snuck into the library together, the silence of the room during nighttime pressing down on us as we walked through the shelves of books together. The moonlight softly illuminated the large tomes on the towering shelves as it poured in from the tall stained glass windows. The absence of the librarian and other patrons browsing the books made the place feel like a desolate land, filled with forgotten stories.
Being in here alone at night always felt strange to me. It carried a serene peacefulness but at the same time, it felt eerie. Sometimes I could see the shadows dancing in the corners of the room as if the characters from the stories were trying to get free, but when I looked closer, nothing was there. But having Loki with me felt like we had an entire kingdom to ourselves.
I quietly made my way to my favorite armchair near the fireplace, picking up the novel I had been reading. I turned to the fireplace to light it with some flint, but Loki was already using his magic to instantly cause the hearth to burst to life, illuminating that area in a soft orange glow.
Footsteps echoed behind me as he made his way around my chair to peer over my shoulder. I blushed when I felt his warm breath on my neck as his lips ghosted over the shell of my ear. "Loki..."
"Yes, love?"
"What are you doing?"
I could feel him chuckle softly as he brought his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder. "I can't help myself, love. You look simply ravishing."
His voice seemed to go straight through me to the pit of my stomach. I sighed and closed my book, turning to face him. He didn't waste any time and crushed his lips into mine.
I brought my hands up to wound through his silken raven-black hair, kissing him back passionately. Despite our many meetings, his kisses never failed to make my heart race and my thighs tremble.
When I felt his tongue slither its way into my mouth, I couldn't hold back a soft moan. He made a soft sound between a moan and a sigh as his lips trailed down to my neck, leaving small bites there.
"Oh, how I love that sound..."
I shivered slightly. "Loki, don't..."
"Hmm? Don't what?"
"If you leave a mark on my neck, Thor, Sif, and the others are not going to let me hear the end of it."
Loki didn't relent with his kisses. "Mmm... maybe I want to leave my mark on you... let the others know who you belong to."
I couldn't resist him when he talked to me in that voice. It sounded like velvet to my ears, and I felt myself tilting my head to give him easier access to my neck.
"I want you," he whispered against my ear, his teeth gently tugging at my earlobe. The sensation caused a strange sensation in my loins.
I sighed, turning my head. Embarrassment filled me as I felt him leave more intoxicating kisses over my neck and up my face. He noticed my hesitation and looked at me, a frown creasing his handsome face. "Am I hurting you, love?"
I shook my head. "No... I want you too, Loki... but... I-I've never... I don't have any experience with..."
Loki smiled softly and pressed his lips to my cheek gently. "Such an innocent little princess... I know you don't, love... but I can teach you. But only if you want me to."
I closed my eyes and kissed him again, breathing in his scent, trying to memorize every little detail of him. I had always found comfort in his scent; warm and earthy, like the woods on a warm day, but also with sweet floral undertones. It was something no cologne or perfume could ever replicate.
"Yes..." I whispered against his lips. "I want you to show me..."
He smiled against my lips, his breath hot against my skin. "I can give you pleasure that you've never felt before..."
He took my hand and led me over to the sofa, pulling me into his lap. I gasped, wrapping my arms around his neck, trying to keep myself steady. When our lips met again, his hands gently stroked up my sides, as if feeling me up through the fabric of my dress.
When I felt his hands start to unfasten the back of my dress, I froze. He stopped.
"Do you not want to go through with it?"
I could feel my cheeks flame with embarrassment. "I-I do... but... here? What if someone walks in...?"
"No one is crazy enough to be in the library this time of night. No one except for us..." His smile made me melt like putty in his hands. He leaned forward to press his lips to my neck, and the feel of his lips made me shudder. "And if anyone does happen to walk in on us, I can use my magic to make us both invisible."
I closed my eyes, letting him kiss me again. I didn't want to admit that I was scared, but it all felt so strange to me. We'd never done anything more than kissing. But I wanted him, I truly did. Every fiber of my being craved him.
"You don't have to be afraid," he whispered while running his fingers through my hair before pulling me closer by the nap of my neck. "I'll take care of you. I'll guide you through the entire thing. You can trust me."
I nodded, resting my forehead against his. "I trust you..."
Loki's hands unfastened my dress, causing the snug fabric to loosen on me. He gently pulled the dress off my shoulders, pressing kisses to my skin as it was exposed. The warmth from the fireplace kept me from shivering, illuminating my skin with a warm glow.
A wave of self-consciousness came over me at the idea of being exposed to him, and my arms tightened around my midriff. He pressed gentle kisses to my exposed shoulders, his breath teasing my skin.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered against my shoulder as he trailed kisses up my neck. "You are truly the most beautiful woman in all of the Nine Realms. You are befitting for worship, like the goddess you are..."
His voice made me melt against him, my arms loosening from around me. He used this as an opportunity to pull my dress the rest of the way off my shoulders. "Says the god..." I whispered as he kissed down my back and he slid the sleeves off my arms, exposing my breasts.
My dress was now around my hips, and he pulled back to appraise me like he might a fine sculpture. My heart raced in my chest as I brought my arms up to cover my chest, but he shook his head, gently taking my hands into his to stop me.
"My love... if I had my way, you'd rule alongside me as my queen for all eternity. To me, you are a goddess." His lips pressed to my neck, and I felt like I could melt right into his hands. "Don't cover yourself. You're too beautiful. Allow me to worship you instead."
I couldn't speak, I was breathing too heavily, my heart racing erratically in my chest. Loki knelt before me like a devoted worshipper would to his goddess. It was such a strange sight to see him like this. He gently tugged the rest of my dress off my hips, causing it to fall into a pool around my feet.
My face was burning now, my hands covering my face so that I did not have to see his reaction to my naked body.
"My love... look at me," he said gently while taking my hands in his and kissing them gently. I looked down at him, my hair spilling over my shoulders and curtaining my face. He pushed a strand of hair behind my ears. "We can stop any time you want to."
I swallowed thickly. "I want you..."
"Then why do you hide from me? Why do you attempt to cover yourself?"
I bit my lip, bringing my eyes down to our joined hands. "I'm sorry, I just... I've never done this before... I don't... know how..."
He shushed me and gently kissed my neck, sending every nerve of mine on fire. "I'll show you how... but only if you trust me."
I tried to hold back my moan as he nibbled softly on my neck. "I trust you..." I whispered breathlessly as my hands wound through his raven locks.
His arms wrapped around both of my legs as he kissed down my neck until his mouth reached my breasts. I flinched when he took one nipple into his mouth, his green eyes glaring up at me as he gauged my reaction. My cheeks were aflame, and I knew it wasn't because of the fireplace. I leaned my head back, closing my eyes as I tried to focus on the feelings and sensations he was bringing me.
He spent time using his mouth on both of my breasts; kissing them and tugging the nipples into taut points with his teeth. The sensation was overwhelming for me, and I could do nothing but gasp and mewl, and then bite my lip in case someone might walk into the library and hear us.
"Please..." I whined, my hands fisting in his hair, unable to decide if I wanted to push his head away or pull him closer.
Loki brought one of his hands out from underneath my legs and pressed firmly on my clit. My eyes widened as an unbelievable amount of pleasure shot through me. When he started rubbing firm, slow circles, I thought I could see the Nine Realms behind my eyes. I couldn't hold my moans back this time. It wasn't as if I was foreign to this kind of pleasure. I had touched myself before; oftentimes when thinking about him. But the skill and pace at which he did this caused me to writhe and squirm in his arms.
"Does that feel good?" he whispered gently.
I nodded quickly, keeping my eyes screwed shut.
"And how many times have you touched yourself in this exact same way? While thinking about me...?"
I felt the color drain from my face. "S-Stay out of my head!" I snapped. I couldn't believe he was going to use his magic on me here.
A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he pressed kisses down my chest, traveling down between my thighs. "I apologize, my goddess. Will you forgive me for my transgressions?"
The moment I felt his mouth on my core, I gasped. I could feel his tongue probing at my folds, licking a stripe up my slit before settling on kissing and sucking on my clitoris.
I let out a sultry moan that I had no idea I was capable of making. "O-oh my gods..."
"Does this mean I am forgiven?"
It seemed like such a stupid question in a moment such as this. But he wanted an answer. When he pulled away briefly, I whimpered in frustration. "Loki... don't you dare stop..." My voice then softened. "Please..."
"You didn't answer my question. Am I forgiven?"
I gasped, my head falling on the couch. "Y-yes... just please... keep going..."
He hummed softly before bringing his mouth back to me, his tongue skillfully manipulating my clit. The pleasure I felt was nearly unbearable. My hands fisted back into his hair, and I pulled harder than I had intended. Instead of expressing pain, however, Loki moaned into my core, the sounds muffled by lewd slurping noises. I felt a tightening in my stomach as if I were a spring being tightly wound around the very being that was him. I didn't realize my legs were wrapped so tightly around his neck until I felt my heels dig into his back.
He continued to go down on me, glaring up at me occasionally as he watched my reaction. I let out a few soft moans, despite trying to hold back as much as possible.
I felt like the soft sounds that I was making would echo throughout the library, down the corridors, and into the feasting hall. I could just imagine Thor, Sif, and the warriors three overhearing us and coming to investigate, giggling and jeering like a group of drunken teenagers. If they caught me and Loki in here like this, they'd never let us hear the end of it.
I tried to shove those thoughts out of my head as Loki used both his tongue and his fingers to stimulate my clitoris, rubbing and licking faster. He used his fingers on my clit while alternating between giving my slit thorough licks and my clit firm sucks. He continued these ministrations until the tightening that had formed in my stomach unraveled, causing a wave of pleasure so strong to shoot through me, it felt like I had been taken under by a giant tidal wave, the ocean of ecstasy I was in throwing me around as I was completely powerless to stop it.
I heard an aria of moaning and mewling, and it took me a moment to realize that they were coming from my own mouth. I could feel Loki licking up every drop of my release as my hands convulsed in his hair, pulling hard.
The aftermath of my first orgasm left me dazed. I didn't realize how tightly my legs were wrapped around him until he had to pull them off his shoulders to pull away from me.
He wiped his mouth as he looked down at me, drinking in the sight of me lying on the couch. "Look at you... so limp and satisfied. You look so... exquisite spread out like that. Your breasts and cunt are swollen because of my attention. Your cheeks flushed and lips parted... your hair around you like a halo." He started undoing the buttons of his shirt. "You look every bit of a goddess as I am a god." He slid his shirt off his shoulders, revealing his lithe yet toned chest. I was still so dazed, all I could do was stare at him. "And now tonight, we will witness what happens when the gods make love."
He unfastened his belt, shimmying out of his trousers, the warm glow of the fireplace illuminating his divine figure. He was larger than what I had expected, and for a moment, I wondered how he was going to fit inside me. I wanted to get up off the couch and go to him, but my legs were so weak, I knew I would fall straight on my face.
Loki kicked his trousers to the side, getting down on all fours as he crawled towards me. The idea of what else he might have planned for us made my thighs clench in anticipation. He was soon kneeling in front of me, but instead of burying his face between my thighs again, he grabbed me by the hips and pulled me onto the floor on top of him, adjusting my legs to straddle his waist.
I clutched his shoulders to steady myself as he lifted my hips slightly off his lap to align his cock with my soaked slit. He pushed into me slowly, the feeling of him stretching me causing me to gasp, burying my face in his neck.
"Gods..." I moaned.
"Am I hurting you?" his silken voice whispered in my ear, warming my heart...and my loins.
I shook my head quickly, breathing in sharply, his warm scent filling my senses. He had stilled inside me, giving me time to adjust to his size. "No... I just feel... full."
He wrapped his arms around me, cradling my head like a child's. "I love you. Have I ever told you that before?"
I felt my heart skip a beat at this confession. "No. You haven't."
"Well, now you know. I've looked forward to this moment for so long... I've wanted to be tied to you in every way possible... both in mind... body... soul."
I gasped when I felt him thrust sharply into me, my hands gripping his shoulders. "L-Loki...!"
He groaned as his hands went down to grip my hips, lifting me only to push back into me again. "I love when you moan my name, love..."
I dug my nails into his shoulders, my breathing becoming more labored as his pace gradually increased, his hands controlling the rhythm even though I was on top of him.
Gathering my courage, I rolled my hips against his, a sharp sting of pleasure shooting through me as his cock pushed deeper inside me.
Loki stared up at me, his eyes glazed and his mouth open. "Gods... yes, love... roll your hips against mine... just... like... that..."
I gripped onto him, moving in time with his thrusts. All sense of insecurity or uncertainty had been peeled away from me, awakening a raw, primal need for him, and him alone.
Loki wound one hand through my hair before pressing his forehead against mine. Our breaths mingled together as our moans and heavy breaths made a symphony throughout the library.
My hips continued to bounce on top of his as if they were acting on their own accord. He was so deep inside me, I could feel the tip of his cock brush against my cervix.
I felt that familiar tightening in my stomach again, and the idea of having another powerful orgasm both scared and thrilled me. Loki's breath came faster, and his movements were more hurried as he must have been approaching the edge as well.
"Loki... I-I love you..." I broke out in a hushed whisper as I moved so fast, that my breasts were bouncing wildly.
He grunted, thrusting his hips forward at such a fast pace, my walls clamped hard around his cock while my back arched. I couldn't stop myself from screaming right in his ear during my second climax. One hand convulsed in his hair while the other clawed down his back.
He waited until I was in the throes of ecstasy before taking my nipple back into his mouth and biting down on it. He pumped his hips, allowing me to ride out my orgasm. He finally came, shooting his seed into me as he let the warm release seep through me. He groaned loudly, burying his face in my neck as he rode out his own climax.
When we finally stilled, I felt boneless and limp in his arms. We both lay there on the floor of the library, catching our breaths as we stared up at the ceiling that was adorned with intricate imagery during the daytime but was immersed in darkness with nothing but the dying fire in the hearth dimly illuminating our exhausted bodies.
"You were incredible, darling," he finally told me with his arms wrapped around me tightly. "A natural..."
I breathed in his scent deeply, burying my face in his chest. "Thank you... for showing me..."
His chuckle reverberated through his chest, vibrating against my ear. "You know once is never going to be enough, don't you?"
My eyes widened slightly. Loki took my hips and pulled out of me slowly before setting me gently down on the floor. "Not tonight, obviously. I don't want to render you unable to walk."
He lay down beside me on the floor of the library, using his magic to conjure a thin green blanket to cover both of us with. I was still dazed and exhausted from the evening's activities, but I used what little strength I had left to drape my arm around his waist and cuddle into him. I felt his strong arms encircle around me, pulling me against his chest.
I let out a breathless sound, too drained to laugh. "You're unbelievable."
"Oh? And why is that?" he asked while massaging my scalp idly.
"I had always thought my first time was going to be... painful. And you made me... feel things I never imagined I'd feel."
I barely registered his lips pressing against my forehead. "I guess your body is just made for mine, love... our souls were tailored for one another. And it does get even better than this... that I can promise you."
I tried to fight the sleep, but the steadiness of his heartbeat along with the blaze of the fireplace lulled me into a sated doze. I tried to tell myself that if we stayed here when dawn came, we'd be caught by the librarian, or even more embarrassing, his mother. The mere idea of the situation mortified me.
Loki must have been listening to my thoughts because he pushed a strand of hair over my shoulder. "Rest, little one. The feast is still ongoing, and I will have us out of here before dawn. You don't have to worry about us being caught."
I was too exhausted to snap at him and tell him to stay out of my head. I instead gave into the lull of his heartbeat against my ear as it started to slow, and the slow dimming of the fireplace as I gave in to my exhaustion and slipped into the comfort of sleep in his arms.

“Well, this should be the last of it.” You huff, setting a box of decorations and spare prizes down on the desk in the back of your shop. Wiping your hands on your gown, you turn around just in time to avoid colliding with your friend, Marisol Gonzalez, as she carries in several oversized event posters.
“Sorry! Comin’ through.” She breezes by you, doing her best not to trip over the hem of her dress.
“Just lean them against the wall.” You tell her, stretching your arms above your head. “Yeah, right there is fine.”
Tonight’s Spooktacular Soiree at the local library had been an overwhelming success. You’d co-hosted the event with Marisol, who also happened to be the town librarian. While it was true that she was a couple years younger than you, you two had become fast friends over the past few months. And when she’d pitched this idea to you over coffee at the end of the summer, you’d known immediately that you wanted to be a part of it.
It was a family friendly event, complete with music and games, dancing, a costume contest and, of course, books. Tons and tons of books. Talk about a perfect way to spend your Halloween. And you couldn’t have been more pleased with the turnout.
Which was why, after numerous requests, you were already planning on doing the same thing again next year. Matter of fact, you two are so excited by the prospect, that you’re already discussing ideas when Ari walks in.
“So, word on the street is that tonight was a smashing success.” You immediately perk up at the sound of him joining you in your office. “Not that I expected anything less from the Wicked Witch of the West and Cleopatra.” The handsome bounty hunter tosses a wink your way.
“Actually, I’m dressed as Nefertiti.” Marisol corrects him with a smile.
“My mistake.” He amends before reaching for your hand to press a soft kiss to your knuckles.
“Eh, no biggie. I gave up trying to explain it to people about an hour into the party anyway.” She tells him with a shrug. “Hey, chica. Should we go check to make sure we got everything out of your car?”
“Yeah.” You sigh before standing up and offering Ari your chair.
“Need some help, ladies?”
“Nah. We got it.” You reassure him, rising on your toes to kiss his cheek. “Just keep my seat warm for me, okay?”
“Yes, ma’am.” He gifts you with a lazy smile as he slides into your chair, crossing his legs at the ankles. "Hurry back now."
After triple checking that you’ve gotten everything out of your vehicle, you and Marisol return to the warmth and comfort of Baubles & Quills. Still riding the high of tonight’s success, you’re actually in the middle of showing off a new display when you hear the chime of your front door opening behind you.
“Sorry, but we’re closed. Come back tomorrow…” The words die on your lips the moment you see who the hell just waltzed into your shop holding a bulging pillowcase.
Although you’re not exactly sure who you were expecting, it was safe to say that this was the last person you wanted to see – especially on a night like tonight. Because standing before you is a man by the name of Dale Edwards.
And it becomes alarmingly clear that he’s drunk as fucking skunk.
“Dale.” You begin, keeping your voice calm and even. “We’re closed right now. I’m afraid you’ll have to come back tomorrow.”
“Hell naw.” The pudgy man slurs. “I–I…drove all the way here to deal with your ass now.” His murky gaze strays over Marisol, as if he just realized that you weren’t alone. “And when I’m done with you, I’ma call immigration on Gaudilupe here. Let ‘em know they might want to stop by for a visit.”
Your mouth falls open in shock as Marisol audibly gasps. Even though she spoke with a hint of an accent, the woman was as much of a citizen as you were. Not that she owed anyone an explanation.
Least of all him.
“Get out or I’m calling the cops.” You threaten, wishing you were standing near your panic button.
“Go ahead.” Dale snarls, spittle flying from his mouth. “And I’ll tell ‘em that I wanna press charges against the bitches who tried to corrupt my daughters by giving them pornography!”
“Now that is an absolute lie, Mr. Edwards!” The sweet librarian exclaims. “You know we would never do something like that.”
“Yeah? Well, I…” He shakes his head in an effort to regroup. “I went through their rooms. Got all the evi–evidence right here.” The man shakes the bag. “And I know you tried it again tonight. With families!” His voice grows louder with each word. “Offering candy like you ain’t just invited 'em to dance with the Devil!”
Oh good God, this was not going well.
“Marisol.” You whisper as you look around for a weapon. “There should be a phone right there next to the register. Grab it and dial 911.”
Unfortunately for you, you make the mistake of taking your eyes off the man for two seconds. Which is why you miss the moment Dale reaches his hand into his bag before chucking the contents in your direction.
Drunk or not, the man proves to have good aim. Which is something you find out the hard way when several pieces of hard candy manage to graze your left cheek, making you scream.
Thankfully, it doesn’t hurt. Much.
Momentarily stunned, all you can do is stare back at him, mouth open, as you try to process what the hell had just happened.
Because had this man really just thrown a fistful of candy at you? At ten o’clock on Halloween night?
“What the actual fuck–?” Is all you can manage before turning your head to look at Marisol’s equally shocked expression.
“Um, Dale…I mean Mr. Edwards…I think it’s time you left now.” The sweet librarian tries, holding the phone tighter to her chest.
“I ain’t goin’ nowhere.” He snarls at the same time as one of his pudgy hands grabs ahold of your discount book rack, knocking it over, sending almost two dozen of your precious books crashing to the ground. “In fact, I think it’s high time someone put the fear of God into you two bitch–” Dale falters suddenly, his spine going ramrod straight at the sound of another man’s voice joining the fray.
A voice that belonged to Ari.
In all the commotion, you’d completely forgotten that he was here – peacefully minding his business while he waited for you to join him in the back of your shop.
“Just what in the hell is goin’ on out here?” You find yourself breathing a sigh of relief as your bounty hunter’s deep baritone washes over you like a balm.
“D-Dale was just leaving.” You tell him, sparing a quick glance over your shoulder to offer up a reassuring smile.
“Of course he was.” Ari agrees, jamming his hands into the pockets of jeans. “And as soon as he cleans up his mess, Mr. Edwards can be on his way.”
“I ain’t doin’ shit!” The angry man hisses at the same time as you eek out the nervous “that’s okay”.
However, Ari doesn’t really seem all that in the mood to listen. Not after what he just witnessed before you realized he was standing there. In fact, the only reason he hadn’t already personally introduced this drunken asshole to every goddamned wall in your store was because he didn’t want to cause anymore unnecessary damage.
But that also didn’t mean he wouldn’t.
He’s by your side in seconds, his eyes never once leaving the other male’s disgruntled form as his long legs eat up the space between you.
“You okay, Marisol?” He asks, not bothering to hide the tick in his jaw.
“I–I’m fine, Mr. Levinson.”
“Glad to hear it, darlin’.” The bounty hunter takes a second to roll his shoulders, cracking his neck as he does. “Do me a favor. Take that box to the back and ring Bell’s Creek PD for me, would ya? Tell ‘em we’ve got a buddy here waiting for pick up. Go on, now.” He tacks on the last bit when he notices the young librarian hesitate briefly.
She hustles away with a nod. And although she tries to hide it, Ari doesn’t miss the way her lower lip starts to tremble as she makes her way to safety. Shit sets his teeth on edge. So much so, that he doesn’t speak again until he’s confident she’s out of earshot.
“Gotta be honest, fella, I’m about two seconds from breaking your fuckin’ jaw.”
“It’s okay, Ari. Really.” You try once more, bending your knees so you can begin collecting the candy littering your floor. “I can…I’ll tidy this up.”
“Baby.” The danger laced in his silky tone has you halting your movements almost immediately. “Don’t you fuckin’ dare.” Once he’s confident he’s gotten your attention, he returns his attention back to the man at the heart of this disruption.
“You know what I hate, Dale?” The man at your side grunts, pushing up the sleeves of his thermal to reveal his brawny forearms.
“This here ain’t none of your business, Levinson.” Your aggressor hisses, spittle flying from his lips. “Hell! This ain’t even your town.”
“Men who act like bullies once they’ve got a little drink in ‘em.” Ari shrugs, continuing on as if he hadn’t spoken. “Especially with women. Really pisses me the fuck off.”
It’s only then that one of his hands goes to grip your chin, forcing you to meet his stormy gaze. While he was almost certain that you weren’t hurt, you knew there was a part of him that needed to see for himself. And although it’s hard, you manage to resist the urge to lean into his touch.
“I run my house, okay? I–” Dale wobbles to the left before finding his balance. “I am the king of my goddamned castle and I don’t want my family readin’ any of the trash these two like to peddle.” He rails, pointing an accusatory finger at you. “Have you seen ‘em, Levinson? We’re talkin’ stories about women openly fornicatin’ with all kinds of creatures! Demons and vampires, an-and werewolves. Why, they might as well be…be…layin’ with dogs!”
“Oh go to hell!” You snort, unable to catch the words before they come tumbling out of your mouth. “You seriously just insulted the entire genre of paranormal romance!”
“Easy, Bird.” Ari murmurs, even as you bristle.
“You and Guadalupe over there are out here promotin’ beastiality. I’ve seen it on the cover of those damned books. The same ones I caught my girls readin’!”
Gritting your teeth, you close your eyes and force yourself to take a deep breath. It’s not like you’d forced those books on his girls, both of whom were 19 and 22 respectively. They were romance novel junkies, just like you. And you couldn’t be more proud that you’d turned them onto authors like Kresley Cole, Jeaniene Frost, and Nalini Singh.
But deep down you also knew there was no use in arguing with this man. All you really wanted was him out of your store so you could finally lock-up and go home.
“Look Dale, you’re drunk. I can see it and I can most definitely smell it.” Your fingers come up to pinch the bridge of your nose. “If you leave now, I promise I won’t press charges.”
Which means your poor wife won’t be stuck bailing you out of jail. Again. Although you’re smart enough to leave that last part unsaid.
“I ain’t leavin’ until I’ve made my point.” Dale grunts, kicking at one of your fallen books. You grimace when you notice the way his boot rips the cover, nearly tearing it in half. “This filth ain’t welcome in my town.”
“Jesus Christ, you moron - the police are already on their fucking way so it’s your goddamned funeral!” You screech, throwing your hands up in the air.
“How ‘bout you shut your whore mouth before I –” Unfortunately for him, Dale doesn’t get the chance to finish his sentence.
Moving with a speed that belies his size, you can only watch in what feels like slow motion your bounty hunter strikes. Slapping the other man dead in his mouth with enough force to send him staggering backwards.
“Let that be the last time I hear you disrespect this young lady.” Ari rumbles, the fierce sound coming from somewhere deep in his chest. “And her shop.”
“I think you cracked my tooth!” He wails, clutching at his injured jaw. “And all over this bitch and her—ah fuck!” You can’t help but wince when his drunken stream of consciousness is interrupted once more when Ari slaps him in the mouth for yet the second time.
“Now what the fuck did I just say, Dale?” His dark chuckle makes you shiver. “Nope – eyes on me, buddy. There we go.” Your bounty hunter does a quick side step, using his big body to shield you from view.
Feeling a bit dizzy, you lightly grip the back of your man’s shirt as you silently will your pulse to settle down. It had been awhile since you’d seen Ari like this. The last time he’d gotten physical with another man over you had been back at the local tavern. The night you credited with jumpstarting your relationship.
A pained noise escapes Dale’s throat as he takes another step backwards. And then, wouldn’t you know it? That motherfucker has the nerve to spit out a broken tooth. The sound of it hitting your hardwood floor seems to echo throughout the store.
“I reckon you’re gonna want to see a dentist about that.” Comes the lawman’s cheeky response before he turns to you.
Smiling down at you, he’s actually in the middle of instructing you to go check on Marisol when a hard covered tome connects with the side of his head. But to your surprise, Ari doesn’t even so much as flinch.
In fact, he barely reacts at all. At least not until the guy tries to tackle him, sending them both flying and you scrambling out of the way. Any real worry for your man fades when you see him quickly regain the upper hand. He lands a solid blow to the pudgy man’s kidney before pinning him to the floor with a knee in his back, his right arm trussed up in a way that looks mighty uncomfortable.
“Fuck you, asshole!” Dale squeals, belatedly reminding you of a stuck pig. “Fight me…” He wheezes. “Like a–like a man!”
“Dale, if I fought you like a man we’d be callin’ you an ambulance right about now.” Ari snarls before twisting the other man’s arm hard enough to make his bones snap. It only makes the man squeal louder. “Now apologize to my lady for making an absolute ass out of yourself tonight. And it had better be fuckin’ good, or I swear I’m gonna do a hell of a lot worse than a bruised kidney and dislocated shoulder.”
Seeing your man like this, acting so protective and possessive over you and your shopwas doing funny things to those damned butterflies in your belly. Although you liked to think that you were more than capable of handling yourself, knowing that you had a man in your life who wouldn’t think twice about defending your honor made you feel so unbelievably loved and cherished.
It also made you wet as fuck.
As your thoughts take an increasingly naughty turn, you get so caught up in the heat pooling between your thighs that you almost miss what’s transpiring in front of you. Key word: almost.
“I don’t think she heard you, Dale.” You watch as the man continues to thrash in Ari’s hold, his pathetic mewls of pain falling on deaf ears. “How bout you try that again?”
“I’m sorry!”
Covering your mouth with your hand, all you can do is nod. Seconds later, flashing red and blue lights capture your attention as two squad cars pull into your parking lot.
Frankly, it was about damn time.
You’re so grateful when Deputy Milton and another officer come waltzing through your front door. Just as Marisol makes her way back into your lobby.
Milton frowns the moment he catches sight of her. While you had suspected that he might have a thing for the young librarian, his reaction only seemed to confirm it. Because you honestly couldn’t remember the last time you saw him angry before today.
“We got a call about a disturbance?” The Deputy surveys the scene, his frown growing more pronounced at the sight of the books and candy strewn across the ground. “Would you happen to know anything about that, Dale?”
His response comes out muffled. Not that it really matters any.
“I already informed Mr. Edwards that you boys would be more than happy to escort him back to the station.” Comes Ari’s gruff reply. “As soon as he cleans up his mess.”
“You know, I think the owner of this establishment would really appreciate that.” Milton cheekily turns to the officer at his side. “Right, Elkins?”
“I reckon it’s the only gentlemanly thing to do.” Officer Elkins pauses to wave at Marisol before continuing. “Ms. Gonzalez mentioned something about you both being assaulted. Would either of you ladies like press charges?”
You both shake your head no. If anything, you were pretty sure that Marisol wanted this whole nightmare to be over the same as you.
“Alright. Guess that makes today your lucky day, then. Huh, Dale?” The officer hauls the man to his feet once Ari releases him. “Now, I’d get to cleanin’ if I was you. I’m anxious to get back to the supper I left behind at the station.”
“You can’t be…” The man sucks in a harsh breath. “That guy just broke my tooth and you expect me to…to…”
“Clean up your mess?” Milton helpfully supplies. “Absolutely.” All three men chime at the same time.
“And when you’re done, we’ll escort you to your room. I’ll let you know right now that it ain’t the Marriott, but I suppose it’s better than the cold, hard ground.” The deputy muses with a shrug. “Mariam kicked you out after this latest episode. Can’t say I blame her after what you did to her face.”
“Oh my God.” You murmur, wrapping your arms around Ari’s trim waist. “Is she okay?”
“Eh.” Milton casts a sideways glare at Dale, silently warning him that he better get a move-on. Or else. “She walked away from tonight with a couple stitches. And possibly one hell of a wake-up call.”
You decide you’re better off remaining silent as haggard-looking Dale Edwards begins collecting the books he’d upended. And you remain that way even as he begins haphazardly stacking them back on the shelf.
Which was fine. You’d simply fix it tomorrow.
Next he moves to pick the candy he’d thrown at you. A soft sigh escapes you when you feel your man’s warm, lightly calloused palm come to rest on the back of your neck, giving you a reassuring squeeze.
The entire process takes a little longer than it should, but given that the man is obviously inebriated, nobody sees fit to complain.
Eventually, the task is complete. And a defeated Dale is led away in cuffs before being placed in the back of Elkins’ squad car.
Good riddance.
And when you offer to give Marisol a ride home, you’re not the least bit surprised you’re intercepted by Milton, who eagerly agrees to escort the traumatized woman home. They’re out the door a few moments later, leaving you alone with Ari.
“Well shit.” He chuckles, his hand coming up to gently massage his shoulder as he watches you secure the lock. “That was…somethin’.”
Instead of agreeing, you silently turn to face him, your hands resting on your hips. After all of that commotion, you had just one thing on your mind. And you weren’t going to let this man out of your store until you got it.
“It probably wouldn’t hurt to break out the vacuum, Duchess. I can go grab it if you–”
You cut him off a look before grabbing a fistful of his shirt, tugging his head down to your level to capture his lips in a kiss. Swallowing his surprised gasp, you can’t help the moan of appreciation you let out when he grabs your ass – hauling you even closer to his muscled body.
“Fuck that.” You hiss, nipping at his plump bottom lip. “Don’t wanna vacuum.” Needing to taste more of him, you ultimately abandon his mouth in favor of kissing your way along his bearded jaw.
He’d made a man bleed for you tonight. And words simply could not express just how horny that made you.
“Oh yeah?” One of his large hands winds its way into your curls, wrenching your head back so that he can take control. “Then what do you want?” His eager tongue sweeps past your lips to dance with yours as he grinds his rapidly hardening cock against your belly.
“You.” Comes your heated growl as you force him backwards. “I want you.”
Ari doesn’t protest when his back collides against the wall, or when you all but rip the shirt from his body. In fact, he fucking loves it. Although he might not be sure exactly what he did to make you act so goddamned feral, he’ll be damned before you ever hear him complain.
“I’m right here, baby.”
“Need more.” You hardly recognize the sound of your own voice.
A wave of pure feminine satisfaction courses through you when you feel his big body shudder beneath your touch, his soft groan of pleasure driving you even closer to the brink. You rain sweet, hot kisses down the hard expanse of his chest, only pausing your ministrations long enough to give into the temptation to bite his left nipple, before continuing to move lower.
Right now, you were a woman on a mission. And nothing was going to stop you from reaching your intended destination. His turbulent blue eyes darken as they follow the path of your nails gliding along the ridges of his abs, causing goosebumps to rise across his tanned skin.
“Thank you for always protecting me.”
“Fuck! Always.” He grits out through clenched teeth.
Raw hunger fills you the moment you finally reach the fastening of his jeans. You quickly undo the buttons before dropping to your knees to undo the zipper of his fly with your teeth, making your intentions clear.
“Is this what you want, baby?” Your bounty hunter rasps, tangling his fingers in your hair once again. “This what you need right now?”
Meeting his gaze, you nod. Tonight, this man had unlocked something primal inside of you. And at this moment you wanted the taste of this man on your tongue more than anything. It takes you no time to free his impressive member from the confines of his pants before shoving them down his hair covered thighs.
Later, you might allow yourself to be embarrassed by the sound of appreciation the bubbles it’s way past your lips. But not tonight. Refusing to break eye contact, you wrap a hand around his girth as your head dips to lap up a salty bead of precum. A familiar warmth pools in your belly as your core spasms with need.
Ari’s chin tips back on a groan when you draw him into your mouth at the same time as you begin working him up and down with your hand. His fingers dig into your scalp as he spurs you on, loving the little noises you make as you greedily suck him off.
“That’s it, baby. My good fuckin’ girl.”
Emboldened by his response, you increase your pace, hollowing your cheeks with every bob of your head. It’s damn near impossible to take all of him – he was much too big. But you’d been practicing.
Thankfully, your bounty hunter had proven to be a patient man. He never complained whenever you decided you wanted to practice.
You’re rewarded for your efforts when you feel your man’s hips begin to move in time with your rhythm, damn near choking you in the process. But Ari doesn’t stop. Your pretty little mouth feels too goddamned good right now for him to even dream of it.
“Ah shit, Duchess.” He chuckles when you gag around him for the second time. “I know you love it like this. My girl loves chokin’ on my fat dick. Don’t you?” You try to respond as your eyes begin to water, your mascara running down your cheeks.
“Mmph!” Your free hand moves to cup his heavy sac, kneading and massaging as you continue to devour him. And then your mouth moves lower, briefly sucking on his balls in a move that has him rocking back on his heels. In response, Ari readjusts his grip on your curls, forcing himself deeper down your throat. Having anticipated this, you do your damndest to control your response by breathing through your nose.
It works like a charm.
“Fuck, baby.” His eyes roll back in his head as his impending orgasm threatens to overtake him. “Keep–keep me–oh fuck!”
And you were determined to take it all. You were gonna swallow him down like he was your favorite treat. Because let’s be honest, you’d come to crave him just as much as he craved you.
“Cum, Beast.” You purr, swirling your tongue around the plump mushroom head. Once. Twice. “Fucking cum for me.” You allow the wet heat of your mouth to engulf him once more, not missing the way his body begins to tremble beneath you.
He continues to thrust, his breathing becoming more labored as his movements grow increasingly erratic. He was so close. So goddamned close. You knew it. And so did he.
‘Give it to me, baby.” You beg between deep, ragged breaths, no longer caring about how desperate you sound. “Gag me. Make me choke on it.” Your thighs clench together as the heady thrum of pleasure dances along your skin.
And as Ari always liked to say, your wish was his command.
“FUCK!” He roars as he rears back, forcing you to take him to the hilt as jet after jet of his seed pumps its way down your throat.
Once again you’re forced to rely on breathing through your nose until he’s finished, making a show of swallowing him down. And then you lick your lips, not wanting to miss a drop of your man’s salty goodness.
Like the good girl you are, you remain on your knees as you patiently wait for him to recover. You knew without having to check that your panties were positively ruined. That came as no surprise.
“Happy Halloween, Beast.” You murmur, nuzzling your nose against his still half-hard cock.
“Oh yeah.” He responds with a quiet chuckle before gently cupping your chin. “You sure you’re okay, little Bird?” Your eyes flutter closed as he smooths the pad of his thumb along your bottom lip.
“Yeah.” You find yourself leaning into his touch, feeling safer and more protected than ever before.
“Good.”
You watch as he rests his head against the wall, his big body now fully relaxed. But you’re not done with this man yet. Not by a long shot. Which is why you don’t bother trying to hide the impish grin that spreads across your features as you reach for his dick once more.
“But I bet I’ll be even better once you fuck me.”

BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT, I'm back with more Sad Boat Books for Sad Boat People! But first, some words.
I never dreamed that a silly little graphic I made for some friends would generate this much response on twitter and here, but I'm overjoyed that it resonated with so many of you! I read every single comment and tag, and by far my favorites are all of the people who say some variation of "I thought I was the only one who loved these books." We are NOT alone, there are literally thousands of people who reblogged or retweeted this list-- people of all ages and backgrounds and gender identities. Sad Boat isn't just for old white men! I was also delighted to hear from other librarians who are using this in displays and for reader's advisory. PLEASE go forth and do so with my blessing, nothing would make me happier! I was recently laid off from my librarian job as part of a restructuring under new management (don't worry about me, it sucks right now but I'm gonna be fine), so I would love to think that I'm still contributing to the library ecosystem while I'm out of commission. I would also love to keep making these lists (including one that deals with Sad Boat fiction and one with recommendations for other types of media), and I've never had more time to do it, so if you have suggestions, please drop them in my inbox!
Anyway, enough of that-- here are more books! I've either read all of these, or the recommendation came from someone I trust, so read with confidence!

Meet me at the library
Hello! I'm still not around here atm but it is Henry's birthday and since I abandoned my son for long enough I thought I owe him a little screentime here on tumblr, I hope you enjoy!
Callan made his way to the castle’s library. It’s been a busy day, a draining one. Task after task and duty after duty demanding his undivided attention, with barely any time to breathe in between.
There were quite a few of these days in his life and he had to admit that sometimes they were quite draining. But Callan mastered them anyway – he had to.
He was, after all, a king and no one said being the king was going to be easy. Callan knew that, had always known. Still, he was more than glad that at least for today, he could finally get some rest.
It was later than he expected. The sky was already darkening, only a few last rays of the sinking sun remained.
They reached out, mixing blue with orange, one last gift of light before the sun sunk fully into earth’s warm embrace.
Callan, too, yearned for the embrace of a loved one and so he sped up his steps. Him and Henry had agreed to meet at the library after Callan was done with his duties.
His love had to wait for him longer than usual today, but Callan knew Henry wouldn’t resent him for it.
He understood Callan’s responsibility as king and he had the patience of a Dha’ir, both things Callan loved him for.
Thoughts of meeting his beloved had carried Callan through the whole day and now that the time was finally near, he couldn’t be happier.
Finally, he reached the massive wooden doors of the library and pushed them open, stepping into the all too familiar place.
Ever since Callan could think, he had loved the library. Along with the garden, it was his favorite place at the palace.
He couldn’t count the hours, the days he had spent in here, the big shelves full of books that reached up until the ceiling a sight beloved and as familiar to him as his own mind.
Despite its massive size, Callan could walk this place blind, could find his favorite books in the blink of an eye, even without the use of the magical system the library had to offer.
But now he wasn’t looking for his favorite books, but for his favorite person.
He couldn’t see him anywhere, not by the fireplace nor their other favorite corners, but that was no reason for worry.
The place was so big you could easily get lost in it and Henry had the habit of disappearing in the farthest, most unexpected corners of the library when he was caught up in his studies.
It seemed inappropriate for Callan to disturb the peace and quiet of this place by loudly calling his husband’s name, so he chose to just wander through the shelves and search for him in silence, letting the calm atmosphere wash away the stress from the day.
He heard a quiet sound coming from one of the shelves and looked around the corner to see if Henry was the one causing it. It wasn’t him, instead, Callan saw another familiar face.
He stepped forward, making his presence known. “Good evening, Rowan,” he said with a smile.
The librarian, who seemed to have just sorted back books into the shelf, jumped a little at the unexpected sound, which made Callan chuckle.
“Oh, uh, your majesty,” Rowan bowed quickly, a little flustered, one of the books still in hand.
Callan had told them countless times before to drop the formalities, since they have known each other for so many years he considered the slightly clumsy but lovable librarian to be a good friend, but he assumed they haven’t grown used to it yet, so he accepted the courtesy without a comment.
The librarian adjusted their round glasses that had slipped from their nose a little and pressed the book they were holding close to their chest, a clear sign of their shyness around him – or any people, for that matter.
Because Callan knew that Rowan was a pretty timid soul that preferred the company of books over that of people most of the time. They seemed to like both him and Henry though.
“How…” They cleared their throat. “How may I help you, your majesty?”
“Did you by any chance see my husband around here? We’ve agreed to meet up at the library, but I haven’t found him in any of our usual spots,” Callan asked.
“Oh!” Rowan exclaimed, face lighting up.
If it was because of the mention of Henry, who Callan had learned was someone Rowan admired a lot, or the implication that they were set up on a date (Rowan was a hopeless romantic at heart), Callan couldn’t tell.
“Henry- I mean, uh, his highness was sitting by the poetry section, last time I saw him. Nose buried deep in an old book, blind to the world outside of it, like it is his habit.”
They smiled and Callan did as well. Yes, that sounded just like Henry.
He bowed his head. “Then that’s where I will find him still, knowing him. I thank you, Rowan.”
A blush crept up the librarian’s cheeks again and they nodded.
They bowed again and then, considering themself dismissed, turned back to the bookshelf, huffing a little breath of relief, probably because the conversation was over.
Callan knew not to take it personal, aware of the intimidating effect his title had on the librarian and made his way to finally meet his lover.
He found Henry exactly where Rowan had last seen him, sitting in a big moss-green armchair, reading in a book with a thick leather binding in the same color as the chair he was sitting in.
Callan stopped in his tracks to just look at his beloved. Henry was fully focused on the book in his hands, brows slightly furrowed with concentration and raven hair a little messy.
No doubt from absentmindedly running a hand through it, a habit of his when he was pondering over a book.
On the small table next to him sat a stack of even more books.
He must’ve been there for quite a while and despite knowing that Henry didn’t mind waiting for Callan to finish his duties, he felt a little bad about making him wait that long still.
As if sensing his presence, Henry looked up from the book the second Callan stepped closer and a smile spread on his face.
“Hey,” he said, carefully putting the book aside and reaching for Callan’s hand. “There you are.”
He pressed his lips against Callan’s knuckles and that small gesture alone made even the rest of Callan’s inner exertion melt away.
The warmth of his hand and the feeling of his lips against Callan’s skin was so familiar, so calming, that he started to forget all the stress of the day.
Callan sighed, content, and following the light tug of Henry’s hand he let himself be pulled into the other’s lap.
“Here I am,” Callan confirmed quietly, leaning against Henry and burying his face in the crook of his neck, his beloved’s scent and warmth immediately making him relax, curving even more into the all too familiar body under him.
“I’m sorry I’m late.”
Henry hummed. “It’s not like it is your fault, my love.”
He ran a hand through Callan’s hair.
“And you are here now, that’s all that matters,” he added, voice soft. He turned his head and kissed Callan’s temple.
Which was nice, but not nearly enough for Callan. He hadn’t seen his husband all day, had missed him every second they were apart.
Just like he always did.
Judging by the way Henry held him close, he probably felt much the same.
And so, Callan lifted his head and leaned up to kiss Henry properly. Henry smiled into the kiss, cupping Callan’s cheek to bring them even closer.
After what felt like both an eternity and only a few seconds, they pulled apart. Henry’s hand remained where it was, thumb gently caressing Callan’s cheek.
“You look tired,” he noted, a frown tugging at his handsome face. “Was it a rough day?”
Callan sighed. He didn’t want to ruin their time together with tiring stories of an equally tiring day, but at the same time he yearned to get all of today’s worries out of his chest.
“Tell me, love,” Henry said gently, sensing Callan’s struggle.
And so, he did. Leaning his head against Henry’s shoulder, tugged into his warm embrace like he had craved it all day, he told him about his day.
About meeting after meeting and discussion after discussion, with no time for a proper break and an never ending stream of requests and questions and debates.
With every word he spoke he could feel his heart grow lighter and he once again was thankful that Henry was such a good listener.
He let Callan ramble and complain to his heart’s content, offering little nods and affirmations and comments here and there, while caressing Callan’s back the whole time. It was exactly what Callan had needed.
And of course, Henry had known that. He always knew the right thing to say, the right thing to do to help Callan out.
And by the goddesses, by the trees and the light and all else divine, Callan loved it, loved him.
“Thank you,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to Henry’s jaw.
Henry looked down to him, smiling. “No need to thank me. We made a promise, remember? Joy and sorrow, dream and burden…”
“All this I will share with you.” Callan smiled.
How could he ever forget? Those were their wedding vows after all.
He kissed Henry again, short and sweet and grinned as Henry chased after him briefly when they parted.
“And you?” he asked, hooking his arms around Henry’s neck. “How was your day?”
“It was good.”
Now it was Callan who listened to Henry talk, looking at him full of fondness as he told about the guard meeting, his training with Valentin and his research at the library.
Henry was a scholar at heart. He loved to learn new things. About their culture, their history, their origin.
As someone who had spent the majority of his life believing that his very own people were… not exactly a myth, but something that was as unreachable as one, Henry had a lot to catch up on.
And that he did.
With a passion and a hunger for knowledge, with wits and such impressive memory that there was no doubt that he belonged to the court of wisdom.
Callan was extremely proud of him.
Currently, Henry was researching Tean Trea, the ancient language. A majority of it was lost to their people by now, but some words still lingered.
“I found this book.” Henry reached over to the table, grabbing the book with the green binding he had been reading when Callan found him and offered it to Callan.
The binding felt soft under his hands as he traced the golden letters that were printed on the cover. The title was written in the ancient language, the words unknown to Callan.
“It’s an anthology of poems,” Henry explained excitedly. “Poems in the old language. I’ve been trying to read them all day.”
Callan opened the book. It didn’t have magic woven into it like other books in their library, but the poems were written in golden ink that shimmered so brightly Callan was almost sure they would glow in the dark of night.
The paper was old, the pages a little greenish at the edges.
“This must be pretty old,” Callan shared his observation.
He flipped through the pages and though he couldn’t understand most of the written words, the beauty of this book captivated him.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I knew you’d like it. It is full of love poems.” Henry smiled at him. “It made me think of you, reading some of these poems.”
Callan looked at Henry in surprise. “You were able to read them?”
Callan himself knew a couple of ancient words too, mostly from prayers and rituals, but he couldn’t find a single poem on these pages that he was able to fully understand.
“Some of them, yeah. There are ones that were quite simple.” Henry’s smile grew.
He reached out to open a certain page for Callan to look at. “This one is one of my favorites.”
Callan examined the poem. Henry was right, it did seem easier to understand, some of the words all too familiar to him. And though he couldn’t understand all of it, he could definitely tell that it was a poem that spoke of love.
Especially when he saw the last line.
„Ni ma ahnra, ni ma criah,“ he read aloud. “Ni ma ghri’an, gheal, ghir’nan.“
He looked up at Henry, who looked at him in the way that never failed to get Callan flustered. “That’s beautiful.”
A smile tugged at Henry’s lips as he leaned closer to Callan, cupping his face with his hands. Callan blushed even harder.
“You are my soul, you are my heart” Henry began to recite, voice so quiet Callan wouldn’t have heard him if they weren’t so close.
“You are my sun,” he kissed Callan’s cheek.
“My moon,” his other cheek as well. And lastly…
“My stars,” Henry whispered against Callan’s lips before closing even the last bit of distance between them.
Callan was sure his heart would jump out of his chest at any given second. “I love you,” he whispered into the kiss. “By the goddesses, I love you so much.”
“I love you too, ma criah.”
And just like that, all troubles of his day were completely forgotten, his exhaustion replaced with other, far more pleasant feelings, his mind filled with nothing but thoughts of his beloved.

OKAY SO I WAS THINKING JD X READER WHO HATES HIM AT FIRST BUT ENDS UP FALLING FOR HIM? I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE LOVE YOUR WORK BTW💗
“I didn’t know how else to shut you up.”
Summary: you and Jd are partnered for a school project.
Pairing: reader x jd
Word count: 896
Warnings: fluff, probably spelling mistakes/typos
Request something here !
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Get a load of this. I got paired with trench coat kid for our history assignment. Kill me now.” You ranted, joining your best friends in the hallway, walking to the cafeteria.
“Trench coat kid? Ouch.” Jd pretended to be insulted, accidentally bumping into you in the cafeteria. Your friends continued to your table, you glaring at them as they left you with Jd.
“God, why are you so weird?”
Jd flashed a mischievous smile, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “I prefer fascinating.” he retorted.
You rolled your eyes, "fascinating. How very.”
Undeterred by your dismissive attitude, Jd continued, “Look, I know you don't like me, but we're stuck together for this history project. Can you quit it with the Heather attitude just while we have to work together?”
You sighed, realizing he had a point. As much as you disliked the idea, you were a straight-A student, more or less, and this project wasn’t going to change that. Besides, at the very least, you’ll get to hang around some male company that isn’t Kurt or Ram for once. “Fine,” you grumbled, “but don't expect me to become your new best friend or anything.”
Jd grinned. “Fair enough. Let's meet up at the library after school, and we can start working on the project.”
You gave him one last look, before pushing passed to meet your friends at your table.
***
After the final bell rang, you made your way to the library. Jd was already waiting, sitting at a table near the back. He had his nose buried in a book, seemingly engrossed in its contents.
As you approached, Jd looked up and smiled warmly. “Glad you could make it,” he stood up, pulling out the chair beside him for you. You sat down beside him, slightly surprised by his chivalrous demeanor. “Yeah, well, I'm not one to back down from a challenge,” you replied, earning a small chuckle from Jd.
***
Two days ago you and Jd started your project together, in the library. You spent most of the time making snarky comments at him, however he stayed undiscouraged by your remarks, leaving you with a particular curiosity you’d not felt before. Anyway, the two of you agreed that it’d be better to continue working on it at your house, because you were constantly being shushed by the librarian.
“Where’s your parents?” Jd asked as you walked him though your house, upstairs to your room.
“It’s a Thursday. Their date night. But it’s more like a date afternoon because my mom likes to be in bed by nine thirty.”
“Nine thirty,” Jd, raised an eyebrow, laughing, “wild child.”
“Yeah, I get it from her, can’t you tell?” You joked.
Jd laughed, sitting on the floor, pulling his textbook out his backpack. You sat beside him, taking out the work you two started the other day. Just as you were about to get started, the phone on your bedside table began to ring. You inhaled deeply, waiting for it to ring out.
“Aren’t you gonna get that?” Jd asked.
“No. It’s either Heather, Heather, or Heather.”
Jd took a moment to think, “You’re not really one of them, are you?” The way we spoke was gentle. Usually every sentence he speaks contains at least one sarcastic punch, but he was tender with his words this time, something you’d not heard before.
“Well, my name isn’t Heather.”
“You don’t like them, do you, Y/N?”
You shook your head, “I don’t.”
Jd stared at you for a while, you stared back at him, not in a competitive way, just trying to read the others gaze for a moment.
“Why do you do that to yourself? Involve yourself in them, I mean? Why?”
“Well, it’s just like they’re people I work with and our job is being popular and shit. I can’t exactly just say no.” You gave him a small smile, “but it’d be nice to have someone around that wasn’t a mythic bitch.”
Jd laughed softly, “what about McNamara? She seems tolera—“
“Ugh!” You shouted.
“Woah. Forget I said that, Christ.”
Once again, your telephone rang.
“I can’t stand this! Ho-how does someone end up in this situation- I shoved away my real friends for what?” You ranted, on and on, over the sound of the phone, “I use my grand IQ to decide what lip gloss to wear in the morning and how to hit three keggers before—“
Jd shushed you with the first thing that came to mind. A kiss. As his lips gently connected to yours, you were momentarily taken aback. His unexpected gesture silenced your rambling, leaving you both in a state of quiet astonishment.
When he pulled away, you blinked, trying to process what had just happened. The room was filled with an unusual tension, and the air crackled with unspoken words. You looked at Jd, searching for an explanation in his eyes.
Jd's expression mirrored your confusion, but there was a newfound vulnerability there. “I... I didn’t know how else to shut you up,” he stammered. You stared at him, your mind racing. In that instant, you realized that Jd wasn't just your sarcastic and weird project partner anymore. There was something that had been building between you two. Perhaps it was the shared frustrations, the longing for genuine connections, or simply the way he had seen through the facade you put on for the world.

My opinion : Babs was deaged to be with Dick.
Okay so I've seen so many dickbabs shippers try to deny that Barbara was deaged to fit Dick for the purpose of defending dickbabs or make them look better i guess. They keep saying that wasn't the reason why she was deaged. they always point to the 1st time she got deaged.
like why are they so upset when they see people say that. I wonder if they care more about the ship than barbara as an individual character.
cuz if they truly liked Barbara separately from Dickbabs maybe all the anti-dickbabs comments wouldn't be an issue for them. 🤷♀️
anyway i'm going to explain why it's true.
here's the thing :
Barbara was deaged more than once.
Crisis on Infinite Earths wasn't the only time she was deaged, she got deaged again in other books/continuites.
So The real question is where did they deage her to be the same age as Dick to make them work not when was she first deaged. (we all know it's always in dickbabs comics where she's written as the same age as dick, i wonder why)
The 1st time she was deaged was in Crisis on Infinite Earths, it was so Jim could be younger but they only decreased her age slightly because she's still written as older than Dick, here is a panel from Secret Origins #20 that was published in 1986 exactly 1 year after she was deaged in Crisis on infinite earths (1985) she said Dick is too young for her and that batman is always the one on her mind. So Dickbabs during this time still has a big age gap so they're still unable to work.
The 2nd time or 3rd time she was deaged is in dickbabs comics where she was finally made the same age as Dick so dickbabs can finally work as romantic pairing.
Instead of being older she's now written as a part of Dick's generation.
From a congresswoman to someone who went to highschool prom with Dick.
Even Tom Taylor wrote them as childhood sweethearts so he can portray them as soulmates in his comics. a huge wtf moment for me because Babs wasn't originally this young when she first met Dick 😭
pls She had a PHD, has been working as a librarian and congresswoman when dick was still a young boy in gotham.
Barbara is now written as a part of his generation and his one true love since day 1. (from an independent congresswoman to Dick's childhood sweetheart and girlfriend who revolves around him)
Before Dickbabs couldn't work because of their age gap but now they can work. thanks to dickbabs comics deaging barbara again and this time for the sole purpose of reducing Babs into Dick's love interest.
So Just because she wasn't deaged to be with Dick in her 1st deaging doesn't mean she wasn't deaged to be with Dick in her 2nd or 3rd deaging 🙃
Dickbabs shippers can deny it all they want but at the end of the day dickbabs wouldn't have worked out if she wasn't deaged to be the same age as dick.
and even if they're right, let's say for the sake of their argument they're right that babs wasn't deaged to be with dick, it still doesn't change the fact that dickbabs is weird.
Regardless if Babs was deaged to be with Dick or not, It's still weird to see Dick being put in a relationship with a woman who was originally a congresswoman when he was still in highschool.
It's like deaging Batman into a teenager (like let's say it's because they want to make Bruce appealing to teenagers) but years later they decided to give him a love interest who is also a teenager as part of the new batman stories.
So even though his deaging has nothing to do with women or shipping in the first place, it's still weird to suddenly see Batman in a relationship with women who are a part of dick's generation knowing he was originally much older than them.
Like Bruce/Raven or Bruce/Starfire suddenly becoming a thing 🤢 No amount of deaging would be able to justify those pairings.
The same happened to Barbara she was originally a part of Batman and Superman's generation.
for goodness sake she dated Superman!!!! She was so much older than Dick.
Also remember when Dickbabs was originally a pedo-like ship and it was so controversial and hated the same way Brucebabs was hated today? Because Barbara the adult woman is kissing minor grayson but now she's fully making out and having sex with minor grayson in dickbabs comics.
The reason why Dickbabs fans don't want people talking about this is because they care more about making dickbabs look good than barbara's independence. They don't care that Barbara lost her independence, her phd, her solo careers, her librarian and congresswoman job because of dickbabs shipping.
They don't view Barbara as a character seperate from dick. Barbara is trapped in this relationship because of people like them. They don't fight for Barbara's independence. The only thing they want from her is to be the girlfriend of Dick and nothing else. It is so hard for them to let Barbara Gordon be independent and not just “Nightwings girlfriend."
Barbara's real enemy is the dickbabs ship. Before, she is able to stand on her own, but now she's nothing more than just a love interest who can't live without dick and too dependent on him and his solo books to exist.
DC really needs to get Barbara some actual character building that doesn't involve Nightwing whatsoever but it's hard to do that when she won't even stop chasing Dick nonstop like a dog in his solo books and thinking about him 24/7 because of writers like tom taylor who is always busy making babs' entire personality all about dick than writing solo babs stories.
Dickbabs is unnecessary and disservice to her character, it does nothing for her independence. She is forever demoted to Dick's love interest unless they free her from this ship.
poor babs she deserves better than people who only want to associate her with dick 24/7.

On Tyranny & Tumblr #1: Do not obey in advance
Like a lot of people, I've been reading Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny in the wake of the 2024 US election results. It's a good book, and a short book, and a book that's probably available in your library. I encourage you to read it for yourself.
There's a lot of panic happening and a lot of desire for action. I think if you're looking for ways to fight real-life tyranny, there's actually a little bit you can do online too.
Snyder's first lesson derived from the stories of 20th century authoritarian governments is "Do not obey in advance":
Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.
Some ways we can apply this in our online lives:
-If you create content - fan content or original, written works, visual art, cosplay, photos - and you're worried it might be targeted by the US government in the future, don't take it down yet. Don't orphan them on AO3 yet. Keep it up and keep creating.
-If you financially support sex workers, keep doing that. If you don't, consider starting now. They are going to be some of the most vulnerable people in the upcoming US administration.
-I'm a queer person. Because my immediate physical safety is not being threatened, I am choosing to stay out both in real life and online. I will not make myself invisible or palatable out of fear of possible future retribution.
-(this isn't necessarily just an online thing, but I'm going to suggest it anyway) Keep - or start - checking out books by and about queer people and people of color at your local library. Borrow erotica, too, and books on polyamory and kink, and books on liberation ideologies. Borrow the digital versions and the paper versions and return them on time and in good condition. If you're a librarian with any kind of control over this, keep purchasing and displaying these books in accordance with your professional training.
Feel free to list other options in comments or tags or on reblogs.
Other lessons from On Tyranny:
#2: Defend institutions
#3: Beware the one-party state
#4: Take responsibility for the face of the world
#5-7: Remember professional ethics, Be wary of paramilitaries, and Be reflective if you must be armed

"hurry up lix, we're going to be late," you complained, brow furrowed as you stuck your bottom lip out in a pout.
"if you really want to go to school that early just walk there yourself." felix taunted, knowing you were scared to walk alone. he was your long-term best friend, inseparable since kindergarten 'til today.
the two of you argued and bickered on the way to school, throwing insults at each other. by the time the both of you had gotten to school, you were both given a scolding and told to sit down. you glared at him as you were being scolded while he just snickered.
the audacity of this man, honestly .
by the time class had finished, you had cooled down, just like felix knew you would. otherwise, he could just stick out his bottom lip while you huffed and pretended to be mad.
"y/n!" he gasped, clutching at your arm, "areum just looked at me!"
he squealed, like a little kid at the toy shop, over his long time crush.
if only you looked at me in that way.
because i do.
"nah, she probably was just looking at someone else." you lied through your teeth, feeling your heart sink.
"hey, stop being mean!! she clearly looked at me," he pouted.
you sighed.
i've loved you for years and you've never noticed.
"well just confess to her already then."
it was painful watching your own crush and best friend fall for someone else, someone that wasn't you.
you wished, rather selfishly, that areum would reject him. then you could be the shoulder he would cry on. not her. but honestly, you couldn't bring yourself to hate her. what was to hate? she was pretty, got good marks, and was friendly and easygoing. not to say you yourself weren't pretty, but you just weren't as pretty and hardworking as her.
and you weren't the one he wanted.
maybe the pain would end if they just ended up together and you were out of the picture. it was obvious she liked him too.
"you really think i should? but what if i get rejected..."
you're so blind but i still love you.
"yes, how many times do i have to say this, she likes you. it's obvious." you rolled your eyes.
"should i just confess tomorrow? better late than never..." he trailed off, worrying at his bottom lip with his teeth.
gods you look so cute when you do that.
"yeah. get her some flowers and write her a note."
why were you breaking your own heart? you didn't know why. maybe you just wanted to end your own heartbreak.
"good luck with that, anyways i need to go to s house for a project." you actually didn't, but you would do anything to just escape from this.
"why~~are you really just going to leave me alone to plan my big confession by myself," he whined.
"sorry lix, but you'll figure it out." ruffling his hair, you walked out the classroom.
you did, in fact, go home. then sat on your bed and cried until you couldn't physically squeeze any more tears out of you. so this was what heartbreak felt like. you had known him since the both of you were ten. you had have multiple crushes here and there, but they were just passing, fleeting moments, nothing of importance. until him.
you didn't know when you had first started to like him. maybe it was that time in the library where he was helping the librarian stack books. maybe it was that time in the rain where he danced in it for hours.
maybe it was one summer day where your world just exploded in colours.
and now it felt like it was fading back to grey.
the next day, felix came bouncing up to you.
"i got her peonies, do you think she'll like it? i told her to meet me in the garden."
"yeah, she'll definitely like it. i would've too... " you muttered the last part all to yourself, turning away and blinking rapidly as tears threatened to prick your eyes. you offered him a smile of encouragement.
"good luck."
when lunch came, you watched as the nervous australian carried the peonies and went to the garden.
then you watched as they walked in ten minutes later, smiling bashfully and holding hands like schoolchildren in love.
because they were.
you went home, not even bothering to call in sick. you just grabbed your bag and went home. you would deal with the consequences later.
your heart hurt.
you were numb.
you were hollow.
you were crying.
you hated everything.
the next few days were spent at home. you called in sick. felix texted you countless times but you ignored him.
lixie<3
y/nie?
where r u?
she accepted!!!
im so happy>.<
read at 2:03 a.m.
yeah, right. good for you. but what about me?
lixie<3
...hello?
y/n?
can u please respond...
im worried...
what happened???
why didn't you come to school today??
read at 3:46 p.m.
you turned off your phone then turned over and cried again. you hated this. why did you have to fall for him in the first place?
finally, after four days of missed calls, texts, and school, you had to go back. its not like you had a choice anyways. you missed your parents. they lived overseas though, so you lived alone. but you really couldn't continue living like this for the rest of your life, even if you wanted to.
"y/nie!!!" felix exclaimed, running up to you. "why didn't you respond to my texts? are you okay? it's unlike you..."
"im sorry lix, i was just under the weather. im ok." you offered him a tight lipped smile. "congrats by the way." you closed your locker door and rushed off before he could ask you anything more.
"huh? thats unlike her... why is she acting so weird lately?"
and so you avoided him, as much as you could. you kept your conversations short and brief, not talking to him as much as possible, and even switching seats to sit far away from him. you watched his hurt face the day he walked in and saw you sitting somewhere else, but then cheering up as areum sat next to him. you watched as he laughed and held hands, ate tteokbokki and ramen with her in the cafeteria. that should've been me.
but honestly, it did nothing to fill the felix-sized hole in your heart.
you drifted apart. he barely texted you now, barely said hi to you, barely even saw you in the hallways anymore.
then exams were finished, and graduation started to roll around.
you watched as they attended prom and twirled around on the dance floor giggling.
you watched as they broke up on the doorstep of his dorms, watching as felix's face fell when she dumped him for another guy.
you didn't have the heart to tell him i told you so.
so you busied yourself in your exams, earning a scholarship to your dream university. felix tried reaching out to you several times to rekindle your old friendship, but you would always politely decline, preferring to be detached instead of going through more heartbreak.
you still loved him, but the once burning passion had now been reduced to a soft flicker every now and then, sparking ever so slightly whenever you saw him in the corridors. your own felix-shaped hole in your heart hadn't decreased over the years, but your heart became bigger, expanding so that other people could fit in it. the hole would always be there, but at least there was space for healing.
you turned around in the backseat of your friends' car to see the campus you had once called home fading away into the distance and felix along with it.
goodbye, the wind whispered.
"happiness looks good on you, lix. i hope you make the best of it."

Beyond the Bookshelves (2)
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Warnings: When you're forced to work in pairs/groups when you don't want to work in pairs/groups, work life, slice of life
Summary: You're a Resource Management Specialist at S.H.I.E.L.D. normally referred to as “The Librarian”. You've been assigned the nightmarish task of digitizing all the physical resources currently owned by the agency, with a few new computers and one extra helper.
A/N: Thank you to all the readers who have loved this story so much already, I did not expect so man tag requests! I'll do my best to live up to your expectations in this story that is pretty much writing itself. If I missed anyone who asked to be tagged, please let me know!
Please comment/like/reblog. If you'd like to be tagged moving forward, please let me know!
The lovely banners used in this fic are from @cafekitsune.
The walk back to the library was longer than usual, but that was because you were now burdened with a task that was nearly impossible to complete with what was at your disposal. Not only was there so little provided, the personnel allotted was the complete opposite of what was necessary. It would have been laughable had it not been so pathetic. You, someone who normally worked with a set number of others, (most of which were virtual) was now forced into a group with two other members whom you have never even properly spoken to.
Loki probably hates me, he has to hate me. The man-person-god-prince-whatever-he-is has never even uttered a word to me until today! You thought back to the very first time you ever met the silent and brooding raven haired Asgardian.
It started off just like any other day, quiet and peaceful. It was just you, the books, and the sun. Though it was a state-of-the-art facility, the library was given a more soothing design with wooden shelving and tables, soft carpeting, comfortable seating of chairs and sofas, table lamps, and desks for laptops and computers to promote productivity and security. There were a few high-tech things, such as the book trolley being robotic and the security measures equal to the rest of the complex; but overall it evoked a sense of tradition.
You were leading the robot trolley filled with books through the shelves, returning items to their proper place, when you heard the chime at the door. Peeking your head out of the aisle, you were awestruck by the handsome young man whom you have never seen before, slowly walking in and looking around in what you could only describe as pure wonder. There was a sparkle of life in those blue eyes and the faintest of smiles tugging at the corners of his lips. Setting the book in hand back on the trolley, you stepped out and gave a big smile.
“Hello, my name is Y/N. I’m the librarian. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” You cheerily greeted him, but only received silence in return as he walked further into the room without even a passing glance. There’s no way he didn’t hear me, right? I didn’t shout, but I wasn’t quiet either. He seems to be really excited about the library, so maybe he was too busy looking around? She opened her mouth to let him know she was here to assist if he needed anything, but he was nowhere to be seen. “I guess he really was just that eager.” You muttered to yourself as you finished your task and made your way to the main desk.
Who is he, anyway? He looks oddly familiar, but I just can’t put my finger on it. You dug through your memories, trying to find a name to the face. When it was clear that it was not something that would come to you right away, he let it be for now and tried your best to see if the newcomer was still here. Had it not been for the occasional sightings, you would have sworn your mind was playing tricks on you. When he finally settled on a few books, you waited for him to come to the desk to check out.
“Excuse me, sir!” You shouted after him as he went straight towards the door. His nose was already buried in one book, and two more were under his arm. It was too late. The alarm at the door began ringing, and a female computer voice came through the speakers.
“Please return the books to the library or check them out at the main desk. I repeat, please return the books to the library or check them out at the main desk.” You watched his head snap up and look around for the source of the disembodied voice when holographic floating arrows directed his attention towards you. You gave a slight wave and put on your best welcoming smile once more. He looked down at the books he held briefly before making his way over to the desk.
“I guess you didn’t hear me, I was trying to get your attention before you left. It’s fine, people make that mistake most of them the time when they're busy. May I please see the books?” He held out your hands, but he deposited the stack on to the desk and pushed it towards you. Ok, you pulled them closer. “Your ID as well, please.” You held out your hand once more and the man simply stared at you, bewildered, with scrunched eyebrows and a growing frown. Lifting your lanyard up, you pointed to your pass holder, which held your ID. “Your ID card, the one that gives you access to the various parts of this facility.” The continued silence was deafening as one of his hands slipped into one of his pockets and he pulled out his ID and placed it on the table. “Uh, thank you,” you mumble as you pick up the piece of plastic and tapped it against a panel to the right of your monitor. Loki? You stared at the name for a moment, the gears slowly turning in your head as you scanned the books one by one before handing them and his ID back to him. “You have two weeks to return or extend your borrow time. Please do not damage them or return them late, you will incur some fees if so. Thank you, I hope you enjoy them. If you need any,” you began to strike up conversation once more, but he took the books and left without a word, leaving you to awkwardly watch.
“Talk about intimidating! I had no idea they brought him here!” You let out a heavy sigh and plopped back into your chair. “I can’t believe I didn’t recognize him without those big gold horns! Did he really just ignore me, though? Maybe he’s shy? I don’t recall ever hearing him speak, though,” you muttered to yourself, swinging left to right. “He must’ve proven that he’s not dangerous if he’s allowed to be part of the Avenger’s team.” You shrugged and let the topic slide for now. You would give him time to grow accustomed to you…or so you thought.
The encounters that followed were nearly identical to the first. He would come in and completely ignore you, read for hours, check out books, and leave. Not a word came from his lips, and he only ever looked at you with you were not sure whether it was disdain or disgust. At some point, you completely gave up on speaking to him and simply took note of the books he liked. When he would go searching for something of interest, you would set a book that you believed he would enjoy beside the sofa he usually sat. It was clear she chose well, since he would always read and check it out. With all this in mind, you had come to the conclusion he cannot speak for some reason, and you were a rude stranger constantly chattering on to him. Not wanting to spoil his time in the library, you quickly adapted and remained silent in return.
You dryly laughed at the memories that dropped on you like bricks. You were clearly thinking too highly of yourself, since today you had heard him speak quite clearly. Why would someone remain quiet for so long? After all attempts made to strike up conversation? There was only one valid solution: he hated you. The reason, you were not sure, but it was the only thing that made sense, and that meant you only had one Asgardian to rely on for assistance in your assignment.
Thor can only do so much since he is a main team member and one that is sent out on multiple missions globally. You pinched the bridge of your nose. Even if they forced Loki to assist, he’ll also be sent on various missions as well. I’ll have to wait for them to return every single time because those take priority over what I need to do. Then there’s training for the missions, training to keep working well as a team, meeting, and the press! The work is never going to get done! You wanted to rip your hair out from frustration as you roughly tousled it about and let out a loud groan of frustration once inside your sanctuary, the library. “And this is all if they say yes to helping me out. I doubt Fury is going to demand it, and Agent Hill isn’t going to go out of her way to persuade them. Just forget it, Y/N, fix the report and file it. Then just go on with your day just like you always do.”
“Thor, Loki, thank you for taking the time to meet with me.” Agent Hill greeted the brothers that came into her office.
“Of course we would come. It is not often that you call for anyone other than Stark or Rogers.” Thor gave an amicable smile, while Loki simply took a seat in one of the chairs in front of her desk. “What is it that you wish to discuss with us?” Thor took the seat beside his brother.
“I won’t take much of your time, it is a new assignment that only the two of you can assist us with.” She took her seat once more and faced the two of them. “Director Fury has given a task to our Resources Management department, the lead of which works here at HQ with us. She is the Librarian. I’m sure you have seen her most of all.” She looked towards the younger prince.
Loki kept a passive outwardly expression while his mind quickly tried to pull out the information of this librarian. He was no stranger to meeting a multitude of people, but he was not foolish enough to assume he would be able to memorize everyone’s name and face. He was a prince of Asgard, the only people he needed to know of in detail ere dignitaries and other royals. This librarian was hardly someone he would have considered amongst the two categories.
“So what if I have?” He coolly questioned, unsure of what the agent was trying to get at with all of this. Is this the reason she requested an audience with us the week before? What task could they have possibly given such a department that requires our assistance? I am not some scribe! He wanted to snap at Hill, but he held his tongue. Though he was an Avenger now, he was still not fully trusted by anyone. He knew even Thor had his reservations, but they knew how the Mind Stone worked. They knew he was not lying, but they were clear in stating they did not know him and this chance was only given because of his brother, Thor.
“Well, it will make things easier for us. She needs assistance in translating all of our texts into English. The department needs to create digital copies of all our books and paper resources so that we can access them anywhere and any time. We do not have the means to simply assign large groups to this task, because it would lead to suffering in on ground missions and recon. The both of you have the ability of AllSpeak which can translate anything you say to English. When you are available, please assist the Librarian in translating the various texts to help speed up the process.”
“This is a side request?” Thor asked, wanting to clarify the priority of this.
“Yes, we do not wish for this to hinder any missions you are needed for. We are requesting you head to the library when you have the time to speak with her and set up a tentative schedule so that she can report back to Director Fury by the end of this month. By that time, she will have the necessary equipment as well. If he approves, then we can move forward in starting this task.”
“You want us to dictate books to her? So she can type it up? Do you not have programs that can instantly translate for you?” Loki frowned, crossing his arms in disapproval at this waste of time.
“Though there are plenty of translation software programs out there, none of them are a hundred percent accurate. They may translate directly word for word, which could destroy the concept of the passages. It may attempt to try to understand the concept, but get it completely wrong. Both of you will be able to read the text and understand the context of it, which will help her type a more accurate translation.” Thor loudly hummed as he considered the task. It was not something he was rather fond of, however he wanted to be of assistance if this would help the organization.
“I am to deployed on a mission with Rogers and Stark in a couple of days. I am not certain how long we will be away. Is it possible to extend the time of meeting with the Librarian?”
“I am to head out with the spider and bird tomorrow evening and return in four days.” Loki added.
“Very well, I will have her look into your schedules and reach out to the both of you. If it cannot be done together, I will have her meet with you separately. Your missions will always be a priority, and she is well aware of that. Thank you for your assistance, I’ll inform her of this development.” Agent Hill stood from her seat and the two brothers followed, stepping out of her office and making their way towards the common room.
“Have you actually met this Librarian, brother?” Thor was the one to break the silence.
“I have not the faintest clue on whom they are referring to. No one speaks to me in this sterile place, how am I supposed to meet anyone?” He scoffed. Who would want to talk to a monster such as me? “It doesn’t matter, we will meet this woman at some point and better understand this waste of time that we are being dragged into. If you’ll excuse me, I have a debriefing to sit through.” He turned down the hall on their left, leaving Thor with the harsh words of his reality.

The bus stops at the bustling town square and you gather your things to leave. Once you got out, you didn't wait but to hurry your way up to the library across of you on the other side of the road. It's a bright day, sunny but warm. It's not too hot nor too cold so you are able to dress lightly. The library situate in between two coffee shops so you decided to get yourself a drink before you begin your study session.
You get your drink and enter the spacious building. A woman dressed in formal dress greet you by the counter. You write your name on a book like usual and goes to a vacant table. You wouldn't want to waste any of your time leisuring so you quickly take out your laptop, notebook and your textbooks to begin your study.
Too engrossed on your study, you failed to notice a person taking a seat beside you. Only when you stretch your arms wide did you noticed him because your elbow accidentally hit his face "Oh, my God- I'm so sorry!" You frantically apologized until you notice it was Isagi "Yeah, what a nice way to greet me..." He adjusted his nose, hoping you didn't break it. You look at him, now eyebrows furrowing "What're you doing here?" You questioned him and he lift his bag, "I was gonna study as well."
You stare at him as he take out his stuff to study alongside you. You prop one hand, the corner of your eyes crease ever-so slightly as you smile at him "Your parents nag you with chores too?" He huff, taking out his pen and shake his head "I tend to be distracted when I study at home..."
You've been with him nearly two months and that's a news to you. He turn his head at you, laughing quietly as to not get kick out right off the moment he just came "Study, Y/n." You scoff, looking away from him and grumbled a soft "whatever". However, when you finally fixate on your laptop before you, it was Isagi's turn to look, grin when you look so focus yet troubled. Your brows creased and mindlessly, he caress the creasing spot to ease your brow. You didn't say anything, just stare back at him with prominent blush start to appear all over your face.
Once you recontinue, Isagi went to mess with your attention again "Your nails..." You look at him, then at your nails "What about it?" He lets out a sheepish grin "They're shiny, you put on a nail polish or sum?" You retreat your hand from his grasp and examine them yourself "No...? I did buffed them a little bit last night." He grin, taking your hand once more to speculate.
"Pretty," You snort, very loudly but accidentally and that earns you a quick glare from the old, wrinkling librarian. Isagi turn to you, face funny "What?" He deadpanned and you laugh "You're so cute!" He jolt from his seat and fell the ground. As if that was not enough, his foot knock over your drink and the whole table is wet.
The old librarian storm over you both "Pack your stuffs and leave, now." Everyone's staring and you won't lie, this is very much more embarrassing than times you had to cross roads.
"Your fault we get kicked out." He look at you, pretended to be hurt and pouting "It's okay, we can go again next time." You hit his arm "And you almost crash my laptop!" He look at your wet bag consisting your laptop "Almost, not entirely." You smack his arm again and this time, he winced "Okay fine, I'm sorry...!"
"To make it up to you, I'll buy you snacks, okay?" He smile, picking your hand and grasp it before dragging you far from the town square to a much secluded area filled with tranquility. He even got you snacks, lot of them, as promised. It's safe to say you've become not too haunted by the embarrassing accidents in the library earlier.

Did you guys know that you really can just, like… show up at your local library’s board meetings every month
That’s where conservatives try to get books banned so I decided to start going to mine.
Funny story though, uh. They didn’t know what to do with me when I showed up. I just had eight people looking at me like “yes can I help you” and I just sat down and I’m like oh, I’m just here to attend the meeting (as a member of the public) and they had to go find an actual chair for me and I just sat there in the middle of the room like I was waiting for my trial or something.
The meetings are boring but important. For instance, there was a presentation on the entire history of the town’s founding which ended in discussion of the city’s decision to spend $8 mil on Astroturf for the high school’s fields instead of paying librarians more. I was able to contribute by pointing out that Astroturf is dangerous to play on and would likely result in lawsuits from parents of soccer players anyway. That might have made a huge difference and the organizer asked me to email him sources immediately.
After this presentation, one of them was like “Okay, at this time we will discuss the library’s budget and need to ask all members of the public to step out for a bit” and they all look at me and they’re like “so we’ve literally never done this before but can you step out” and I’m like sure, I’ll head out now, see you guys later
And one dude is like wait wait wait did you actually need to bring something up for public comment or anything? And I’m like naw, I’m just here to make sure no one fucks with the library and support how I can and this started a round of snapping fingers like I’d just done slam poetry and one guy was like “yeah so I’ve worked here for five years and we’ve never had someone attend these”
So I’m going back next month. And you can too. Look into it.
#and then everyone clapped#I know it sounds fake but I bet if you go the same thing will probably happen

Page Turner (Kageyama Tobio x Reader) Part 3 - Summary: Tobio wants to try something risky with you. CW: Smut, Exhibitionism, Semi-Public Sex Word Count: 3,650 Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 A/N: Tee hee, this is my first time (writing smut) be gentle. No gendered pronouns are used, but it is implied the reader is AFAB. MINORS DNI ! Also, this can be read as a stand alone one-shot if you nasties just want the smut
Come to the locker room.
When you got the sudden text from Tobio, you were lounging on a bench outside the gymnasium where Tobio’s team had just suffered a brutal loss to a rival French team. Knowing the loss would weigh on him as it always did, you had already run over to the pastry shop nearby to pick up many of his newfound favorite Italian delicacies. Tobio was a perfectionist, so when games didn’t go his way, he would spend the rest of the evening thinking through every minute of the game, trying to piece together what he could’ve done differently to get his team the win. The added stress of still trying to prove his worth to his new team, even after being on the team for nearly a year, didn’t help.
Moving to Italy after Tobio had signed a deal with Ali Roma hadn’t been easy. Both of you scrambled to learn Italian as fast as possible, find a place to live and adjust to the different culture. You had to find a job, even though Tobio insisted you didn’t need one because his volleyball career could support you both. While he was right, you couldn’t stand the thought of being home alone all day while he was at practice or gone to away games that you weren’t able to attend. So you found a job at a bookstore close to your condo.
It was tough in the beginning since you couldn’t read in Italian yet and could still barely understand it when people spoke to you at the shop. Luckily, the old lady who owned it seemed to enjoy your charm and hired you anyway, especially since you already knew the ins and outs of the book world with your years as a librarian. The job helped your Italian come along nicely, as well as Tobio’s. Back in Tokyo, Tobio would spend any free time he had around his volleyball schedule to keep you company in the library after the two of you started dating. Doing so helped him realize he actually enjoyed reading for fun, not just out of necessity.
Now that you worked in a bookstore and could buy books in Italian, the two of you would spend quiet nights slowly reading children’s books to help improve your comprehension. Now, after a year of learning, both of you are back to reading at your regular level.
The longer you lived in Italy, the more you fell in love with it. The people, the scenery, the food. It was all perfect. Plus, shortly after moving here, the Italian countryside had given you both the most beautiful wedding venue one could ever ask for so maybe you were just a tad bit biassed about how perfect Italy was.
Tobio’s sudden text caused you to pause your scrolling through the comments on your most recent Instagram post (A picture of a particularly gorgeous sunrise streaming through your bedroom window and a small glimpse of Tobio snuggled up next to you, asleep. His fans always went nuts for posts like this. You loved to feed them small nuggets of your domestic life with him). He never asked you to come to him after a game, especially in the locker room. He always said to wait outside and he’d find you. You were instantly concerned something was wrong. Did the loss really affect him that much?
Gathering the bag of pastries in your arms, you stood up from the bench and rushed back inside the building. It was almost completely empty by now. There were a couple fans still loitering in the halls, conversing with each other and a couple building staff roaming around. You doubted the athletes were even still here.
Hustling down a couple of side hallways, you eventually walked up to the men's locker room. It was silent inside. Slowly pushing the door open, it creaked loudly on its hinges. You couldn’t see Tobio anywhere just by peeking your head in, so you tentatively stepped past the threshold of the door and walked inside.
“Tobio?” you loudly whispered. You prayed no one else besides Tobio was inside. You really didn’t need to see one of his teammates naked today. When you received no response, you wandered further in. You passed multiple alcoves of lockers, and a line of open showers before finding him.
He was tucked in the last alcove of lockers, sitting on the concrete bench that ran underneath said lockers. He was slouched forward, elbows resting on his knees and hands grasped together. Dropping the bag of pastries on the floor, you rushed to him. You’d seen him down on himself after games before, but he’d never looked this upset.
“Tobio? Sweetheart?”
You gently rested your hands on the sides of his head and tilted his face up so he’d look at you. To your confusion, he didn’t look angry or sad. In fact, you couldn’t tell at all what he was thinking. You’d gotten really good at reading Tobio’s almost constantly stoic expression, but now you were doubting your abilities.
“Are you okay?” you whispered, almost hesitantly.
You took a step back as he stood up, towering over you. He stared intently into your eyes, brows bunched in thought. You took the time to glance at the rest of him, assessing for any possible injuries that might explain his weird behavior. He still wore his volleyball getup, even his knee pads hadn’t been removed. He wasn’t glistening with sweat anymore but still smelled like it, meaning he hadn’t showered yet either. What was he doing in here the whole time, then? Just sitting? It wasn’t like him, but you couldn’t see any physical clue to why he was acting so weird.
Well, until you took notice of his shorts. They weren’t skin tight by any means, but they sure didn’t leave anything to the imagination when he was aroused. You knew because you had seen it happen many times. You would have Tobio wear his volleyball uniform in bed quite often. You couldn’t help it, he just looked so good in it and it never failed in turning you on.
Tobio slowly removed your hands from his face and instead threw them over his shoulders so your arms were wrapped loosely around his neck, never breaking eye contact with you. His hands then slid down your sides to rest low on your hips, fingers sliding under your matching Ali Roma jersey to hook underneath the hem of your jeans.
“I wanna try something,” he mumbled, slowly starting to tug your pants down, underwear following suit.
“R-Right now?! But Tobio, someone could walk in and see us.” Despite your verbal protest, you didn’t stop him from helping you toe off your shoes and kicking your pants and underwear off your legs.
“I know. That’s the point.” His voice was much deeper and rougher than it usually was.
This was a real shock to you. Tobio had never expressed the want or need to attempt anything public beyond holding hands and the occasional hug or kiss. He preferred having you all to himself in the privacy of your bedroom, and didn’t want to risk sharing you with anyone else. So why’d he suddenly change his mind?
Once your legs were free of clothing, Tobio wrapped his hands around the backs of your thighs and lifted you into the air with ease, walking you back to rest against the lockers with a thud. Your legs automatically wrapped tightly around his hips to keep yourself in the air, feeling his arousal rub against yours.
Your mind was running a hundred miles an hour. The fact he chose his team’s locker room of all places was very surprising to you. Any of his teammates, coaches, or managers could walk in at any second and his volleyball career could go up in smoke. All those years of hard work and dedication, gone. But even knowing this, he wanted to risk it anyway. You couldn’t deny the whole situation had you shaking in both nerves and anticipation.
“W-What’s gotten into you? You’ve never wanted to try anything like this before.”
You fisted your hands into his jersey as he held you up with one arm wrapped tightly underneath you and used his free hand to tug down his shorts just enough to free himself.
“Last Monday, when you had work and I had the day off, I skimmed through one of those romance books you brought home from the bookstore since you’re always raving about them and I was bored.” As he spoke, without any preparation, he entered you slowly. It was a little more uncomfortable than normal, but you were already so wet because of the whole situation that he had little trouble sliding in. It took everything in you to stop from letting out a loud groan, in fear someone would hear. You chose to bite your tongue instead as Tobio kept talking. “They did something similar to this in the book and it was intriguing. I wanted to test it out to see if it was as exciting as they made it seem.” He finally bottomed out, and let out a shaky breath, a small smile crossing his lips as he nodded. “So far, they were right.”
You heaved a breath and let out a light giggle. “Those books are filthy. Can’t wait to see what else you want to try.”
Tobio leaned in to rest his forehead against yours, staring deep into your eyes as he always did and gave you a smile. “I’ve got lots of ideas.” He tilted his head forward the last couple centimeters to claim your mouth with his and started to set a slow, tantalising pace.
He swallowed up the noises you made with his mouth, but he couldn’t stop the loud sounds your back made as it rhythmically thumped the empty lockers. Kageyama was a professional at turning you into a pile of mush. He knew just what to do with his hips to make your eyes roll back into your head.
When you first began dating, Tobio was extremely embarrassed to admit that he’d never been intimate with anyone before. He’d never seen the appeal until you came along, and suddenly volleyball wasn’t his whole world anymore. The first time was awkward, and he was a blushing mess the whole time but Tobio was nothing if not a great learner. It only took him a couple attempts before he knew exactly how to make you squirm. It helped that he had an impressive length. It wasn’t the thickest, but it could reach spots of you you didn’t know existed.
Your toes curled around the air, your legs squeezing his hips to try to get him as close and as deep as possible. You were certain your tongue was going to be bleeding from how hard you were biting it, keeping your noises suppressed as much as possible. Still, whimpers escaped your throat on their own. Tobio seemed to have trouble keeping himself quiet, as he’d decided it would be best to bite down on your shoulder, gripping the Kageyama jersey you wore in his teeth. Grunts still escaped him as he rocked you against the lockers. You honestly didn’t even know why you both bothered to keep your voices down, because the lockers were loud enough to drown out any noise you both made and alert anyone passing by to what you were doing anyway.
Tobio kneaded the flesh of your thighs in his hands, gripping hard enough to leave bruises that you knew he’d profusely apologize for later. Any time you started to slip down the lockers, he’d heft you back up with a thrust that had you seeing stars.
To keep yourself distracted, you busied yourself with gripping the dark strands of hair at the nape of his neck, mouthing at his throat that bobbed at every nip you made. The salty taste of his sweat from the game still lingered all over his skin, and you made it your mission to lick up every single drop that you could reach.
After you started paying special attention to the spot on his neck just under his ear that made him melt, all movements between the two of you stopped immediately when the loud creak of the locker room door echoed through the air. You instantly pulled your head away from Tobio’s neck to stare wide eyed at him in fear. He stared back at you, eyes swimming with concentration as you both held your breath to listen for any more movement.
“Kageyama? Sei ancora qui?” (Are you still here?)
It took every brain cell you had left to translate the sentence as Tobio had nearly pulled completely out of you on his last thrust, now just barely filling you with his tip. You couldn’t place the voice but it sounded familiar. One of Tobio’s teammates?
Tobio gulped to clear his throat before the bastard actually answered him back. He could’ve just kept quiet and the man would’ve hopefully just left when no one responded to him. Now the man would know Tobio was here and might come looking for him.
“Sì, sono stato un po' distratto. Sto proprio per farmi una doccia e tornare a casa.” (Yes, I got a little sidetracked. I'm just about to shower and head home.)
“Va bene, volevo solo farti sapere il programma della nostra prossima partita.” (Alright, I just wanted to let you know about the schedule for our next game.)
As the man went into the details about their next game (you think that’s what he said, at least. You couldn’t focus on a single thing he said), you watched Tobio get a dangerous glint in his eye. On one hand, you were eternally grateful that the man decided to just talk to Tobio loudly across the locker room rather than come talk to him face-to-face. On the other hand, it gave Tobio the perfect opportunity to torture you when you had no choice but to stay quiet.
Supporting you with one arm wrapped underneath your ass so you wouldn’t fall, he clamped his free hand over your mouth. He then hiked his leg up so his foot stood on the concrete bench that ran just underneath you. This spread your thighs apart even further to make room for him as he ever so slowly seated himself fully in you once again. The new angle helped him reach even deeper and hit the spongy part of you that had your eyes rolling so far back into your head, you felt like they were about to pop out of your skull.
To your both pleasure and pain, he didn’t move more than that, forcing you to stay seated on him while he talked to the stranger. Any involuntary clench of your core made him twitch, which brushed that sweet spot, bringing you closer and closer to release but never quite reaching it. Dignity be damned, you dug your heels into his ass to try to bring him even closer than he already was, begging him to move or do anything to get you satiated. Stubborn as always, he refused to budge, planting himself against you as he talked to the man as if he wasn’t buried to the hilt.
To an untrained ear, he seemed to be talking normally but after your years of knowing him, you could hear the almost undetectable shudder to his voice. Good, you thought, he should be suffering too. This is what he wanted, right? So you looked him right in the eye as you started to grind yourself down on him as much as his iron grip would allow. It wasn’t much, but it was doing the trick as his breathing picked up and you saw his abdomen twitch, his own body begging him to move. He gave you a look that made you shiver. You knew you’d pay for this later.
“Fammi sapere se hai domande. Grande partita oggi!” (Let me know if you have any questions. Great game today!
“Grazie, signore. Ci vediamo domani.” (Thank you, sir. See you tomorrow.)
You registered their goodbyes as the loud creak of the locker room door swung shut, leaving you both in dead silence once again. The tension was thick as you stared at each other, both faces flushed and breathing ragged.
“Trying to make me break in front of my coach?” he hummed, pulling his hand away from your mouth once a couple of moments passed without a sound, making sure the man had actually gone.
“This was your idea in the first place, babe. Wanted to make sure you got the full experience,” you teased. “What do you think?”
A smirk graced his face as he trailed his slim fingers down to that sweet spot right at the apex of your thighs. “I think we should do this more often.” And he was off again, setting an even more fierce pace than before.
With the new angle he entered you at and the carefully calculated pinches, rubs and scrape of his nails on the bundle of nerves that drove you mad, you felt yourself nearing your end in mere minutes. He didn’t seem to be faring any better, thrusts becoming sloppy and less timed, his hold on you becoming shaky. You gripped his shirt with one hand and held your own hand over your mouth as your noises became impossible to stop. He went back to biting your shoulder, this time certainly leaving a bruise where his teeth sunk into your flesh through the jersey.
Neither of you said a word as you both reached your climax, groaning in sync as he coated your insides in his spend. Breath ragged, he slowed his movements down to ride you both down from the high until his hips stopped, seating himself within you in content. You held tight to his shoulders, breath heating his neck as you tried to slow your heart rate down. You could feel his thighs twitching beneath yours in exhaustion from supporting you for so long. The only sounds in the otherwise silent locker room were your breathing, the hum of the overhead LED lights and the occasional splat of your mixed fluids falling onto the tiled floor.
After a second, Tobio gently pulled out and set you down on your feet, supporting your weight when you nearly collapsed. Your legs were numb and knees had turned to jelly. You leaned against his broad chest, listening to his quickened heartbeat as he ran his fingers up and down your back.
“I love you,” you sighed, blissed out of your mind.
“I love you too. Sorry if that was too intense.”
You looked up at him and smiled, rubbing circles into the soft muscles around his waist. “That’s ok. I enjoyed it.”
Tobio helped you over to the locker room showers, assisting you in removing the rest of your clothing even though you insisted you could do it yourself. You busied yourself with getting the shower at the perfect temperature as Tobio wet a towel to clean up the mess you both left on the bench and had trailed to the shower. He had shed all of his clothing by the time he returned, holding his personal bottle of shampoo and body wash for both of your use.
He focused on you first, scrubbing your body down with the cedar smelling soap. With the softest touch, he cleaned up the mess between your thighs. You let him do his thing as you loosely wrapped your arms around his waist, brushing your fingers over the two dimples that sat in his skin at the base of his spine. He took care, for whatever reason, to keep his body between you and the open locker room behind him. It wasn’t like he was blowing your back out in that exact locker room minutes before. You weren’t sure why he was suddenly so concerned about keeping any straggling eyes off you, but you didn’t mind.
Once your body was washed (you told him not to worry about your hair, you could just wash it at home), he let you wash him. You focused on his hair first, scrubbing the shampoo into his scalp as he closed his eyes in delight. Once his hair was clean, you scrubbed every nook and cranny of his body to get rid of any leftover sweat from the game that you missed with your tongue.
You were both contently silent as you towel-dried each other off, helping each other dress and slipping out the back entrance to the locker room to avoid any curious eyes. He held the long forgotten pastry bag in his hand and slung his gym bag over his shoulder, using his other hand to hold onto yours tightly.
“We should try that again sometime”
Tobio looked at you in surprise. “Really?”
“Yep. But next time, let's pick a spot where if we do get caught, you don’t lose your job.”
He nodded and shrugged. “Maybe. That added to the thrill of it though. I don’t think we’ll find a better spot than that. Except maybe in Atsumu’s bed at his next birthday party.”
You giggled and held onto his arm with your free hand. “That could be fun. First though, I want you to show me what else you learned in the book you stole from me.”
He got that evil glint in his eye again and squeezed your hand. “Deal.”

Somebody left this delightful tag on this post yesterday. As a general rule, I try to avoid talking politics or arguing with people who say stupid things on my posts, but given how upset I've been about the current situation at Columbia, I'm having trouble letting this go. Columbia University has one of the oldest Judaica collections in the United States, dating back to the 18th century, and was also one of the first universities in the country to develop a Jewish studies curriculum. The preservation and stewardship of this collection has been the collective effort of generations of Jewish scholars, and suggesting, even jokingly or flippantly, that it should be taken away just because you're scared of some students protesting is pretty insulting to all of those people.
(Not to mention that the "put it under glass" comment is just nonsense. Do you think the librarians are leaving medieval manuscripts sitting around unsecured? Do you think students are going to storm the Rare Book and Manuscript Library like it's the Bastille?)
Anyway, the only reason I even knew about that manuscript to post it in the first place is because I saw it in one of my classes when I was at Columbia. I've heard enough dumb and ignorant stuff about my alma mater in the news recently; I don't want to hear it on my blog, too.

Steddie fic recs (1/?)
Part 2
In the last six month I've read, saved and commented an alarming amount of Steddie fics. I finally feel ready to share some of my favorite so far with all of you because I think all the authors deserve kudos and new readers!
I'm not much of a writer, but I hope you'll like my suggestions. Feel free to RB and leave comments.
If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It) by @acestyx
So, vampires easily rank between my favorite magical creature. Yes, I'm simple like that.
This is probably one of my favourite Kas!Eddie fic so far. Brief but sweet and also...hot?
The descriptions are so vivid and I love some flushing Steve as much as the next person.
(The second part is a nice plus!)
***
smoke signal by @toburnup
Might be the fact that I'm going through the whole Trigun Stampede phase at the same time, but I find the Western setting unusually fascinating.
Outlaw! Eddie in something I never knew I needed, but now I cant stop. I love the choice to describe Steve and Eddie's life using short episodes of them meeting throughout their life. They are so in love, your honor, and I can't get enough of these two getting old together.
***
if you like this you might also like: me by @formosusiniquis
Oh gods, this is probably one of my favorite Steddie modern AUs, and I consider myself a modern au - sommelier in every fandom I'm a part of.
Librarian Steve wearing comfy sweaters lives rent free in my mind and in my heart. The whole book-suggestion-thing is a really clever way to create a meet cute situation.
Eddie is such a smartass in this one and I LOVE IT!
***
You Are Your Own Magician by @machtaholic
I clearly have a problem with Steve, because I find myself relating to him so much - or it's your fault, guys, because you make me feel like that?
Anyway, Steve's journey to self-discovery is the center of this fic and it's so heartwarming, so pure and genuine I really felt like I needed to hug him at some point. I also enjoyed how Robin, El, Max and all the other characters showed their love and support to Steve, embracing him the way he is.
***
Nice & Quiet by @bmodiwrites
I really love the HoH!Steve element in fics, and this work is particularly good.
The love and support that the whole Party shows to Steve in heartwarming, and all the new ways Eddie uses to comunicate with Steve (music and Signs) makes me love them even more.
