And YESSSSS okay so firstly Ford hates Stan's partners in every universe but also the Carla thing. Carla was only seen twice once when Stan was 14~ and once when Stan was like 19~ so in my heart of hearts he had a long-term relationship with her and so in a genderbend she had a long-term relationship with Carlos/Carl so Ford is even more irrational for being protective because they've both known this guy for years--

So she thinks it's ridiculous that Ford has The Audacity to tell her he wants to go with her to the diner she's going to. Just so he can keep an eye on the guy they've known since grade 9. And Ford expects her not to laugh at him for asking for a ride in Stan's car so he can do this. Stan doesn't really take Ford being protective that seriously because she's always been the one standing up for him, it's just how it was when they were younger. After a lot of bickering she just straight up says 'What would you do if he was a creep, huh? Cast fireball?' and Ford can't let that stand she made fun of his favorite TTRPG, DDNMD :( it's iffy on if he can pick Stan up like full princess style because Stan's got heft to her and Ford... Well carrying textbooks has to count for something. But Ford's smart, he's strategic abt it, he shoves Stan into a wall and brackets her, then just drags her thighs up to his hips so her and the wall are technically doing most of the supporting but still hot and why am I overanalyzing weight distribution on a horny post--

Highschool Au LorAva

I love "Nothing bad ever hapened" AUs And I usually don't min d Highschool AUs either because I don't have to think of adult troubles. So one that I something think of is an AU where Ava is the student council vice president and an absolute picture book honors student that suddenly has to deal with this new student that kicks him off the leaderboards in everything, while being a really difficult person. I love enemies to lovers and I love delinquent + honor student stories, so of course this is a given with these two. Two more ups: Nothing bad ever happened to the twins and Asuna is alive!

Squad 4 in Namimori aka Reborn! Now! AU

While this is also an AU featuring Rena, it's mostly about Squad 4 becoming recurring characters in Namimori. All of them take on covers: Ava as a girl in Tsunas class, Lorenzo as a highschool student, Ser as the Coach for the BAsketball club and Leo as a guard and school security. It's just fun to imagine Ava trying to come up with schemes to murder Yamamoto, Ryohei trying to get Leo to coach the Boxing club, Lorenzo having to deal with a really annoying rich girl that tries to court him and Ser has to deal with conflicting feelings regarding his cover story and a girl in the girls basketball club called "Asuna".

HayaRena Ai no Scenario (I didn't wanna draw something for this)

Inspired by this song I always wanted to write an AU for Hayato and Rena and -drumroll please- G and a woman he meets after Giotto flees italy. Side A is Hayato and Rena being friends and in love ever since they were little, but Hayato is nothing but a street child while Rena is a noble woman engaged to a horrible abusive man. Eventually Hayatp whisks her away. Side B is set after Giotto left italy and asked G to take care of what they build up. G returns to his hometown where he meets a married woman who is secretly being deceived and cheated on by a mafiosi. She has no idea of this. Not exactly happy that another family has set their camp in THEIR (G and Giottos) hometown he eventually frees her from a terrible fate that her "husband" had planned for her and basically "wins" back the town, starting to seriously court her and eventually starting a family together.

LorAva Mermaid AU

Since I had planned to do more for this in MerMAY I will keep it short. Ava is merfolk, a blue shark aligned predator who gets captured by accident by a fishing boat. A boat Lor is on. Seeing as the creature was only an accident he releases Ava again albeit not unharmed. Still Ava somehow understands that Lore saved him and becomes interested, following the boat more often, everytime he gets captured, he gets released by Lor. OIne day though Lor is not on the boat and Ava gets caught again and sold to the nearby circus where he is set up for show. Due Lorenzo trying to save and release him back into the ocean.

Asuna lives AU

Not much to say here. I did trace this official art though because I thought it would be cute! Asuna survives the shot. Ser never becomes a mafiosi, Leo neither. Ser goes on to go pro as a basketball player, Leo becomes a mute soccer player and everything is fine with nothing bad ever happening. This really is just "Ser and Asuna can be together".

The only K Project entry featuring a genderbend version of Lina that became full yandere for Eric. Eric has to tread very carefully. Lin is still his family and dear to him and made sure that Eric would survive anything Hikawa throws at him. He loves Lin, but he also knows how fragile Lins mental state is and how ready for violence he is when it comes to Eric.

So, what changes?

Of course, the genders are BENT. For future reference, Pom Pom is the female Puff Puff and Amy is the female Axel. The other two it's pretty obvious.

Also, there’s more tiddie jokes. Wish I was kidding but the girls mostly retain the characterization of their actual counterparts so they’re super immature (gen 2 specifically. Not only because that’s the gen I prefer drawing but also I don’t think I could handle gen 1.5 Puff as a girl.)

All those songs about women? The ones I can’t think of good male versions of (Booty Store and Stalkin Your Mom) have been kept the same. Pom Pom SAYS it’s because she thinks it’s funny for “straight girls” to objectify women but I think we all know the truth here. Pom doesn’t want to admit she’s a girlkisser but she likes to smack Jae, Ben, and Amy on the asses when she holds the door open (one of them enjoys it. Seriously, guess who.)

I’ve tried filling in the gaps so we can have lore instead of whatever the fuck can be scraped off of YFM fanon wikis.

There’s no real shipping but I hope you know I drew yuri of this au in my biology notebook and almost turned it in.

And also I’ve tried to zap EVERY character with the gender ray. Cracks knuckles. Here we go.

Main band lore

Pom spent the first few years of her life raised by both parents. Her dad was a neglectful druggie and her mom was physically and verbally abusive. Said parents argued all the time. They split up and Pom went with her dad, who got a new wife who already had a daughter (as in, genderbends of Puff’s offhandedly mentioned stepdad and brother in Santa Hates Poor Kids. Retconned in Trauma Song.). Child services sent her to live with her PeePaw by the time she was like 8 (A baby mispronounces a word ONE time and you get stuck with the most fuckass name on the planet…) and that was the probably the best thing to do.

School sucked too. Pom was seen as an outcast. If you ask Pom about it, she has no idea why. Luckily outcasts attract outcasts. That’s how she met DeeJae (whose vague backstory I’m leaving pretty much the same) and Benatar. (Just so you know Benatar was the name of a female singer. I don’t see it worthwhile to feminize it.) What did the three of them have in common? They liked music, space, and were kinda weird and immature. Best friends. Band kids. They met Amy (Axel) at a jazz festival (she went to a different school). They hit it off. They wanted to give this band thing a shot. They collectively went “hm… aliens…”, YFM was born, and the rest is history.

Side characters

Dig Ol Bick

It was high school prom, he had a packer incident, and Pom was horny enough to take him anyway. He found her loser failwoman qualities endearing. A few times. Turns out the girl willing to make out to a horror movie isn’t a great girlfriend. Oh well, they’re on civil terms.

Michelle “Wax” Jones

The story here is Pom Pom watched her on YouTube, was like “whoa cool”, invited her out to the club with DeeJae, they made a few songs together and actually became good friends.

Brooke/Ms. Douchebag

The whole grudge against her is because she was one of the people who teased Pom, Jae, and Ben in school (and also she dated Ben’s crush). She’s not entirely aware of this though, she thinks YFM are her friends.

Vidalia

Amy’s stupid hawk. Basically the same as Axel’s stupid hawk, just female. Pom likes making hawk tuah jokes about her.

Wanda

YFM’s #1 fan. Pom Pom Humbert was her lesbian awakening (Pom got the tat of her face removed). If you say she’s a fake nerd, you’re dumb enough to invite the nerd rage. Still works at that diner.

DeeJoe

Jae and Joe were effectively raised together, their parents were very close siblings. Him and Pom still hooked up (YFMTS episode 9). Jae thinks bringing him over is a bad idea, so they mostly communicate via Skype.

Shitty G

Met Pom Pom and Benatar at a truck stop in Eastern Tennessee and gave them inspiration through her utter trailer-trashiness. Moved out of Tennessee to whatever state YFM live in and ended up working at the same Applebee’s. Small world.

Elliot (Friend Zone Boy)

He needs a name, chat. I did my best. Ben still hangs out with him even though he’s kinda mean. NOT a zombie. There just happens to be a lot of cutecore pink-haired boy zombies.

Steven the Demon

Pom Pom’s sleep paralysis demon. Probably. Actually, we don’t know where he comes from. The Upside Downs is either a form of gaslighting or Pom and Jae’s side project so they could evade the eyes of the label.

i was someone who voted negatively on your genderbend poll. i just got curious and stopped to see if you'd said anything about the results, and i wanted to say i find your thoughts interesting and appreciate you writing them. it's not something i truly see very often, but approached from an actual standpoint of exploration i can see where there would be appeal. i also found it interesting that you mentioned both the difference in people who relate heavily to characters and the lack of people genderbending couples to be gay specifically, because it made me stop and examine the fact that me and my partner actually do that constantly. we frequently take popular straight couples and read them as being like us, since my boyfriend's presentation is much more like "girl who is a gay man" than anything more clear cut. i guess the real point here is that i've always trusted gender itself to be something very nuanced and something the person experiencing it knows better than i do, but i hadn't put a lot of thought into the myriad reasons why and how someone could experience a more theoretical, fictional exploration that i and people i know had previously experienced as mostly negative. a lot of the time it probably still will not be for me, but i think i can recognize more of what i consume as being fundamentally a similar thing. anyway, i hope you have a great day

i'm elated to know someone read what i had to write, lol. i appreciate hearing your perspective-- especially the note about making straight couples gay! it seems that's often the most widely accepted form of fictional gender exploration in fandom circles, when it happens at all; it reminded me of the more general trend of taking straight couples and saying the man in them is a he/him lesbian, which people do with a varying degree of seriousness. i also think on the trans people i know in my life who, for a variety of reasons both chosen and not, are perceived differently than their internal sense of gender (in a manner almost exactly how you described your boyfriend, even). hell, this even applies to me! which is probably another why i'm a fan of the trope, frankly.

at any rate, though, i'm really glad that we (collective we here) are in a place where discussion about it can be tabled as opposed to shut down entirely. thanks again for your message!

god this is tough. Like. A female captain in 1960s would have been ridiculous for sensibilities of the time, but probably would have had a positive impact (unless it lead to the show being cancelled earlier idk). Same for a very logical female first officer. But the trouble is, THEN WE WOULDNT HAVE SPIRK. The Star Trek fandom owes its existence to Spirk shippers, and like, sure, people would probably ship them anyway, but it wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't be gay. If I could genderbend them both I'd do it in a heartbeat. But not one or the other.

So that in mind... I know already that Bones but a woman is great, because that's Pulaski, and Pulaski is great!* But then again, we already have Pulaski, so maybe we don't need two. Plus, people would be misogynist about Bones' unpleasantness if she was a woman, we know that from the fandom's treatment of Pulaski. Then again, people are gonna be misogynist about women anyway.

Between the other three supporting cast, I think Scotty would absolutely be the best choice to genderbend. She'd be the iconic chief engineer of a starship, in a major technical role, and head of a major department making her arguably more of a girlboss than Bones (who has only a few nurses report to him) or Spock (who doesn't seem to have his own department, though he is in command quite often). Heck, even Scotty is in command on occasion, being the second officer.

I'm pretty neutral about genderbending Sulu, but I do think Chekov would be easily the worst choice, since as it is he's kind of a gimmick character. Like, you don't really take him seriously when he's cracking jokes about russians inventing so and so and whatnot. If we only have such a small number of female characters on the bridge, I don't want one of them to be more or less the comic relief character.

(* before you go on about Dayta and Dahta, consider--Pulaski befriends Data over the course of the season and clearly respects him by the end of her run. If anything she maybe personifies him too much, ascribing emotions that he claims to be incapable of.)

So yeah. Spirk must remain homosexual, femBones is just Pulaski (which we deserved to see more of, but which we did technically get in TNG), and so I think my answer has to be Scotty.

A common complaint I’ve seen about Star Trek is that there is a lack of regular female characters besides Uhura and sorta Chapel. Now, that can be attributed to 60s sexism, but TOS didn’t have an unlimited budget, so creating a female character would probably lead to the elimination of a male regular. Which is why I ask you…

I really liked all the communication happening and I thought it was a neat translation of wwx’s issues to a non-magical setting I don’t like the rest of the series as much but here’s a rundown: it follows them as they continue managing their issues, adopt kids, and handle becoming parents. wwx is not cis in this one (undefined but akin to genderfluid) and they really lean into wwx’s breeding kink so they call him a wife and mom and it gets a little weird? however none of this shows up in the first work. the characterizations were…decent. I do like the maturity, realism, and emotional honesty in the rest of the series. the bdsm scenes can be really intense because they legit do hardcore sadism and masochism, but because they communicate so thoroughly about it, I didn’t dislike it in the way I dislike most bdsm in fic. but I still skimmed a lot of the sex scenes. and overall I don’t like it enough to rec work issues: for this first fic? really nothing for the rest of the series, lwj is a bit possessive, there’s some emphasis on wwx being skinny/lwj’s big hands, and 3zun is a background couple. xxc/sl/xy is also mentioned as a poly relationship. author issues: same author as above - cnc, dubcon, A/B/O, genderbends

dude. homie. i made a joke about trans girl Cartman today. it live within me. i’d love to see more trans Cartman. tbh i think cross dressing is important to him no matter his gender identity. Even genderbend Cartman would get all swave and cross dress. I think there’s also so many levels but i think he’s had two sexual relations with elder men as some part of him is pretending to be a girl. And that’s without mentioning his mother and the implied if not outrightly said s/a he’s experienced. It’s hard to swallow the pill of being homo when you have a lot of trauma associated.

It’s extremely hard for me to look at Cartman’s character without assuming he has a crush on Kyle. And without getting into my opinions of his mental state and all that, he’s deeply misogynistic and homophobic bc he can protect himself from being trans and/or gay. Which like. this is kinda played out in South Park with Mr. Garrison being everything he is. But I think Cartman would be a better example of smth like that anyways.

In every world Kenny and Cartman grow up and do drag together. And yeah, it took years for me to be willing to look at Cartman as someone capable of being Better. But I also entered this fandom at 12 so I think that was a good decision of me, I’ve matured a lot and have learned a lot since then so I’m glad I can have informed and trying takes rather than entering the pipeline. But tbh it’s much easier to decide if I trust a Cartman fan than a style or creek fan. Red flags are more obvious I suppose. But I keep hearing great takes from the people I’ve had personal interactions with. But I’d love to see more thought out content of him. Especially trans.

How did you get inside my head? How did you know I was contemplating fem!Regulus in my downtime? Ngh - I love genderbending characters, and Regulus would be so incredibly interesting.

Okay, so. First thing's first. Name. I'm admittedly tossing up between 'Regina' and 'Rana' as potential names. Regulus, while also being a star, means "little king" a.k.a "prince". Regina means "queen", which is a nice direct link in terms of meaning, symbolism and verbally. Whereas Rana is a star (also know as Delta Eridani according to google), and means "glittering object", "eye-catching" for a girl. It also, when used for a boy's name, apparently means "king" - which ties back to Regulus' original name.

You see my thought process? I'm torn.

But anyway, for this post, I'll refer to her as Rana.

So!

Rana Black is born in the dead of winter, pale as snow, small and squirming. Her mother is satisfied and her father is content. They have what they need - a male heir, and a female bargaining chip.

Sirius and Rana grow up beside each other, hardly more than a year apart in age, and so like twins in how they think and act. Always side-by-side, never far from each other's hip.

They love each other fiercely, and swear when they are just four and three that they always will. Sirius takes his duties as Rana's self-assigned protector seriously, and Rana is the one with soft hands and soothing words that helps pick up the pieces of her brother whenever he crosses their parents.

In their society, they are considered royalty. They come from the oldest family, the strongest House. Their name is as vast and unending as their potential - but they both chafe under the expectations in different ways.

While Sirius is trained like a soldier, beaten and broken down and abused; Rana is taught that her worth begins and ends with her body. She is a woman, and according to her parents, the only thing she's good for is breeding.

She has a betrothed, she knows. She's never met him, but Luis Avery is a name that hangs over her neck like a proverbial sword. And Rana doesn't know why her parents selected him out of all the options, but it's not her place to question their decisions.

Sirius does ask, and Sirius continues to hate Avery even years down the line after the engagement is cancelled.

So, Rana grows up. Sirius goes to Hogwarts, and comes back to her changed. He's more outspoken, more antagonistic, more rebellious - but never with her. He's still her protector, after all.

It's once Rana is sent to Beauxbatons - because Hogwarts might be the preferred school, but the Blacks have roots in France and it's the one choice her father let her make for herself - that she begins to think for herself.

She's been surrounded by people that have told her what's best for her her entire life, but now she sees other girls. Girls that aren't from ancient and noble Houses. Girls who aren't betrothed to a stranger. Girls that are freer with their opinions and words. Girls that aren't demure and quiet little dolls that dance for their parents' amusement.

The first time she hears one of her classmates claim "I'll never have kids" Rana is stunned.

And intrigued.

Slowly, those kinds of thoughts begins to suffuse through her very being. She, for the first time, starts to question why she must do these things.

It's the beginning, but it's by no means the end.

Rana Black is a young girl that takes a look at the hand her parents, her society, her world tried to dump on her, and goes no.

She finds freedom in the more liberal sphere of Beauxbatons. Removed as she is from the rising tension in Britain, without the overbearing eyes of her mother, she's allowed to explore sides of herself that she never knew existed.

I was just chiming in because too often in the RPC's discussions of genderbending, I see women's stake in the conversation get ignored or dismissed. And the people who yell that loudest about it being transphobic also tend to dismiss women's viewpoints with the most aggression, often in a way that reeks of oppression olympics: "At least you have Eowyn, so sit down and shut up." 2/2 They act like women are taking something away from the trans community by genderbending, which is an absurd stance. Adding more women doesn't mean we're erasing trans characters. We're both facing the same problem: Massive over-representation of male characters. The people who pit us against each other and turn it into a zero sum game are only making things worse, but they refuse to see that, and if you point that out, you get called transphobic (and often get set death threats, too).

I'm sorry, too, I didn't mean to imply you did think that for certain! I was just worried I had come across as excluding this really valid point and am definitely aware of how frustrating it feels when people are having a public conversation like this about a topic that has impacted your RP experience (and very like, overall fandom experience as well) without your experience being brought up. We don't all have to agree, we can politely disagree while expressing our different takes, you know. Anon, I knew you were going to say Eowyn! I'm not in the LotR fandom, but with something so widely beloved, I have had plenty of friends who were. The same goes with the MCU, you cannot be in the RPC without at least being on the periphery of it, right? It's this way with my primary fandom as well, a predominance of male characters and the female characters you do have tend to lack the nuance and wide degree of choices.

Watching all three, and more, has always reminded me of being the only girl in my friend groups as a child when we played as characters from popular movies. Granted, I didn't want to be the literal only female character available in most of those movies anyway, they were simply not my kinds of characters, and looking back at it, it is kind of gross that my default option as an afab child was a single sexualized female love interest or simply, the sassy love interest. The hostility even as a five-year-old was intense when I refused to play as one of them and insisted on being one of the male characters instead...it was worse the few times when I got much older, like teen older, and did sort of genderbent takes on costumes for things like Halloween. Would have been fine if I was doing it as Sexy Main Character, but since it was simply Implied Gender Swap Main Character, oh no. Not acceptable!

It reminds me of all this because everyone who is comfortable with the choices they have refuse to accept anyone else's choices that have to be redesigned. And, people, look...I understand if someone doesn't like how that changes their canon interaction with the story and their own character, I don't understand vilifying someone for it. Just. Don't. Interact. Like so many things muns have a fit about, genderbending characters are never going to be the majority take, they're never going to be capable of pressuring you to interact purely because of that. No one is forcing anyone to like something or participate in it, I don't even say that someone can't complain about it in their own spaces, just let people live their lives without bringing harassment and trivializing serious matters like transphobia into it.

I think that a lot of the issue stems from the sort of community we have. Bad things generate bad things. The RPC has always been primarily made up of women and a ton of identities from the queer community, this was a safe space for many types of marginalized people to explore and participate uniquely in fandom with each other. Unfortunately, because so many of us are marginalized people, when we're aware that many of our platforms are infiltrated by bad actors, we start seeing them everywhere. Our own bad actors start weaponizing that suspicion and the language.

When it comes to women, there is the idea in fandom, absolutely coming from misogynistic ideas, that all women are interested in are "deviant," sexual stories and ruining spaces with their gross girl things. All women want romance novels, but make it more problematic. In itself, this idea is problematic lol romance novels are quietly popular because they're written as a different sort of fantasy-fulfillment that returns agency to female characters, allows them to be sexual without punishment, and makes them desirable as people, among other things. Any time a RPer is cisgendered female, especially if they are also heterosexual or lesbian, they are instantly categorized as a problem. You're automatically a radfem, a terf, you're fetishizing, etc. That's how any decision you make is going to be addressed.

So, coincidentally, one of the most visible groups doing genderbending is women and it's now transphobic.

I think you're right that it's an issue of "my oppression is worse than you're oppression, and you're now oppressing me." It's unfortunately true that we have women in the RPC that have some really poor takes and actions, but it's also true that we have everyone else here that does as well. This is divisive, and division among the marginalized benefits no one in that category.

All it's doing is exactly what you've said, it's giving a free pass to ignore the problem everyone is dealing with. There are a plethora of cis male characters only. If you don't want to write one, well, your two options are the tiny handful of consolation prize female characters that are nothing like the male ones or writing a transfem character. That's not alright. Turning this into stakes that benefit no one in this community is not alright. Sending people death threats and running them out of the community by essentially blackballing them as being transphobes is not alright. Whom do you people doing this think it is benefiting?

Genderbending a character isn't erasing a trans character. There aren't any canon trans characters in Lord of the Rings, in Marvel's cinematic universe, in Star Wars' film universe, in DC's film universe, I could keep going. Having a very hard time thinking of any hugely popular franchise that has a single canon, on screen depiction of a trans character. Your options are male or female, cisgendered. So, you're literally not erasing what isn't there to erase, for one.

Additionally, making a male canon female and not portraying them as trans isn't doing so either. RPers are not representation. It is, again, perfectly fine to be your own representation, we literally have to do this if we want to write characters more like us as individuals, but it's no one's job here to give you what Hollywood won't. RPers do not have to make themselves uncomfortable and inevitably be harassed for doing it wrong, or honestly, doing it wrong and being highly offensive because they were pressured. RPers are not obligated to interact with each other, either.

Not being comfortable writing with a trans iteration does not make one inherently transphobic either, you're not talking about real people here. If you won't interact with a real trans person, you're transphobic, yes. If you are uncomfortable interacting with a trans RP character, you probably have a valid reason - this damn RPC. It's alright to not want to interact with someone who makes one facet of a character the only facet, or who will become aggressive and accusatory if you don't agree to every plot, ship, etc. supposedly because their character is trans (or anything else). I'm sorry, I know that being treated badly online and off makes one suspicious and ready to jump to accusations and assumptions of others, but it's this very inclination that makes other RPers hesitant to interact with some folks in the RPC.

No, before anyone says it, no one here is under any obligation to be good representation and educational material who is infinitely positive and tolerant as a real, live human being. That's not what I'm saying. Just that the reality has become one of easy and quick accusations that are making other people wary of interacting. No one wants to be accused of being transphobic, racist, misogynistic, or ableist because they don't find your iteration of a character or original character compelling, they don't think you'll mesh as muns and writers, or they don't like any iteration of that character. Maybe, those people are also uncomfortable with how you've acted on the dash, maybe, they're concerned that if they or their character makes a mistake or they need to ask you a sensitive question OOC that pertains to the RP, that you'll explode and label them.

When you create a character who is not the usual, and in popular fandoms, yes, that's neurotypical cishet white male, you have to realize that you're going to run into people who literally don't know about the situations you're putting them into. Not everyone is educated to the same degree or in the same ways, not everyone is, knows, has relatives, or has been in relationships with someone who is ND, trans, a different race, whatever. You have actually opened yourself up to a unique situation, if someone is wanting to write with you, they are also open to learning and you shouldn't be vicious to them when they need to do exactly that.

For example, I witnessed, a few years ago, a RPer get run out of the RPC in my fandom for asking a mun an innocent question, privately, about how they should be approaching a smut scene with the mun's trans character. Their whole point was that they were really afraid of having their character do the wrong thing, say the wrong thing, be offensive. They simply didn't know, and honestly, every person is unique. Every cisgendered person, every trans person, is unique. That they were treating this as an opportunity to appreciate the uniqueness of how this mun's character wished to be viewed etc. and to educate themselves beyond what they had available online, which can be a ton of contrary takes since, again, all individuals, should have been a good thing. The question wasn't impolite, fetishizing, or otherwise gross, either. They were quick to put it up in the callout. Yes, that's an uncomfortable situation, but it was prefaced well, phrased well, and respectful. This person was just trying to be a responsible, respectful, RP partner and ally. They got weeks of death threats, accusations, and bullying that only ended when they deleted their account.

That's what people are afraid of, it is not an unreasonable fear. No more than running into a legitimate transphobe is. We've got to stop treating each other with this kind of automatic suspicion and hostility.

When fear runs things, we all lose.

Anyway, Anon, I'm so sorry that things are like this. No one needs to be happy with the scraps of mega-fandoms or be "transphobic."

I don't dislike the female characters that LotR has, some of them I like quite a bit, but they fall into character types and tropes that do not appeal to me as a writer. Meanwhile, I can think of three male LotR characters that do without trying. Same thing with the MCU, I enjoy two female characters, though both of them I did enjoy much more in the comics, admittedly. However, neither would I wish to write for the same reasons - they both fall into character types and stories that aren't for me as a writer. Again, I can think of a handful of male characters who do. If I wasn't comfortable writing male characters, genderbending would be my choice as well to resolve this problem and remain in my comfort zone as someone who doesn't feel comfortable speaking on myriad trans experiences not my own.

You're not doing anything that the rest of us are not, Anon. We're all out here trying to adapt characters and have fun with them! You do not deserve harassment for that.

What is the colour of your hairbrush?

I have a buzz cut, I don't have a hair brush anymore.

Are you typically too warm or too cold?

Too warm. I have been warmer than most people my whole life, and I often need to sleep with a fan on.

What were you doing 45 minutes ago?

Working on a sketch for an MTH fill (update from the end of this: I have spent an hour doing this fuckin thing)

What is your favourite candy bar?

Bounty. My favourite candy is Reese’s Pieces but I like a bounty. Or like, and chocolate without fruit in it tbh.

Have you ever been to a professional sports event?

Yes, one of my parents referees Championship Football here in the UK. I have been to a few of his games. I also went to the London 2012 Paralympic closing ceremony, if that counts.

What is the last thing you said out loud?

‘Oh, this will last me a few days’ I was talking to my mother about 1/2 a can of pringles, I was lying.

What is your favourite ice cream?

Vanilla. I am boring. But the best ice cream i’ve had was a cream/milk flavoured gelato in Florence, that shit slapped. I also like cheap strawberry ice cream when no one is trying to put strawberry bits in it.

What was the last thing you had to drink?

Dinner. A spinach, banana, summer fruits and coconut yoghurt smoothie (with extra raspberries). Its my nightly dinner to cheat more veg into my body.

Do you like your wallet?

Very much. It’s about 7-8 years old, it is faded to hell but it has spiderman and a pony ride stony pin

What was the last thing you ate?

See above smoothie comment, but if that doesn't count, a sugar free mint polo.

Did you buy any new clothes last weekend?

Nope. I don't buy as many clothes as I want to, bc mens clothes in larger sizes are hard to find or expensive here.

The last sporting event you watched?

F1, I don't keep up but I watch a little with my dad every now and then.

What is your favourite flavour of popcorn?

BUTTER. They don't really have it here, and I don't go to movies much when in the states. But @festiveferret​ introduced me to it when we saw Ant-man and the Wasp, and much like poutine and Tim Hortons, I still crave it.

Who is the last person you sent a text message to?

My dad. 

Ever go camping?

Yes, I was a Scout. I have done enough camping to not want to do more, it was fun when I wasn't organising it.

Do you take vitamins?

Yes, but not as often as I should, and as much as my mother bothers me too.

Do you go to church every Sunday?

Nope, not even when I considered myself christian. I go only go to church for other peoples events, and I’m an agnostic now.

Do you have a tan?

I cannot tan. I just can't, I burn lobster red in 5 minutes outside without literal sun cream for BABIES

Do you prefer Chinese food or pizza?

Chinese food, It was easily what taught me to like more foods also, I don't eat tomato so I can't have most pizza. I love a good garlic base/bechamel, but you can't really get that here easily (yes yes I could make my own but that ruins half the point of pizza)

Do you drink your soda with a straw?

I don't drink carbonated drinks, because its like drinking pain. The fuck is wrong with all of you.

What colour socks do you usually wear?

Various colours, but I consider red on the left, blue on the right, my lucky socks. No I don't know why, but I take all exams and interviews wearing them. It’s just a thing.

Do you ever drive above the speed limit?

I don't drive, but if I did, No. Theres a lot of questionable laws out there but Traffic laws aren't one of them.

What terrifies you?

Pfft, most things from spiders to rollercoasters. But more seriously, Being shouted at. Shout at me and I start hyperventilating, its a thing. Also not knowing if someone is mad at me. I’m not good at reading people,

What chore do you hate?

Vacuuming. It makes everything in my body hurt. I would rather clean toilets.

Either delivery or kiosk, I don't like talking to people where possible, I often need tweaks I don't want to have to remember to repeat.

Favourite cut of beef?

I don't generally eat beef, lamb, or most red meats. I love crispy chilly beef, but as anyone can point out its bc your generally don't feel the texture of the beef.

Favourite day of the week?

Friday nights. The weekend is ahead and @loraneldin​ and I take to wrangling our beloved usual suspects through another week of Ults Book Club.

Can you say the alphabet backwards?

I can barely say it forwards.

How do you like your coffee?

With milk and sugar, or ultimately, in a Caramel Frappuccino bc I'm a bitch like that.

Favourite pair of shoes?

I have walking boots that don't make my flat ass feet feel like they’re dying. OR my black and green crocs (Fight me, they’re useful).

The time you normally go to sleep?

9-10 is what I'm working on, but I fluctuate depending on if I'm working on something or not.

The time you normally get up?

5-6 If I have a choice in the matter, but often 7-8 if I didn't get to bed at the right time. I’m more about getting the right hours in for my diet than time specifically.

What do you prefer, sunrise or sunsets?

Sunset is the prettiest, but I like to be awake to see the sun rise.

How many blankets on your bed?

One big thick comforter, because that's the uk standard, and I get too hot otherwise.

Describe your kitchen plates

Two types, big wide white ones with a navy blue rim. They are so large I never use them, and little Navy saucer plates I use a lot.

Do you have a favourite alcoholic beverage?

I don't drink, so no. I drink apple juice or Shirley temples when I'm in pubs/bars

Do you play cards?

Sometimes, I like to teach people to play Old Maid. It’s the monopoly of card games.

What colour is your car?

Again, I do not drive. 

Can you change a tire?

I am aware I just said I don't have a car, but I do know how to change a tire. Everyone should go learn its pretty simple.

Favourite job you’ve ever had?

I have only had one job really and two job experience jobs. I did experience in a school library for a week and that was v fun and chill. I did all the jobs they had prepared for me in 2 days so I alphabetically reorganised their fiction section for the rest of the week. I LIKE ORDERING.

How did you get your biggest scar?

I no longer have a gallbladder, so I have 3 scars across my torso from that, the biggest right in the middle of my ribs. Non surgical wise I have matching scars on my knees from ripping holes in them when tripping. I have weak ankles and also I got both of those at different times.

What did you do today that made someone else happy?

I gave my spare animal crossing Iguanodon skull to a wicked artist I follow on twitter so he could complete his dino park.
