Watched '89 Batman just so I could read the original script and get mad at the changes. Spoilers, but also this won't make a lot of sense if you haven't already seen the movie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting off strong with the descriptions. I'm sure cranking up Jack's age some 20 years wouldn't make much of a difference to the plot...
I was going to say that the casting director is no Andrea Romano, but considering his name drops before Keaton's, I'm sure Nicholson was chosen through a more particular process. I wonder though, was that choice alone responsible for the "Joker kills Bruce's parents" idea? (side note, did Joker 2019 come up with *anything* new at all??) Or was it something that came up after they decided to erase Dick Grayson from the film to replace the original conflict?
Oh yeah, the Flying Grayson's episode happens in the original script. But let's look at Ace Chemicals first — which is not the name they used in the movie, just to piss me off
Tumblr media
They cut out a whole section of the gang breaking into the plant. It's not a bad choice, I just liked the date makeup observation. Now to the meet cute--
Tumblr media
Paralyzing talons? Are you kidding me, they got rid of that?? Oh, silly me, of course they did — that would get in the way of Batman's classic blowing-up-thugs rule.
Bruce didn't throw Jack off the platform here, but interestingly enough we still see him feeling guilty when he finds out that he inadvertently created Joker
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, this is almost the exact same moment that Tom King wrote in Batman/Catwoman. Gotta love the trope of Bruce bringing up his guilt over creating his arch-nemesis in the middle of an intimate moment with a beautiful woman on his bed. Now some random things they changed that stood out to me:
Tumblr media
Every single time Joker acts blatantly childishly or is described as being on the verge of a tantrum is so funny. Sad that we could've had this instead of him thirsting over Vicky Vale.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the during the attack of the mimes on the city hall. I assume they decided to cut it out because that sort of ptsd goes a little against installing machine guns on the batmobile and striking down your enemies with military grade missiles.
Tumblr media
They didn't pull a Joe Chill/Joker switcheroo here, Vale's guilt just dreamed of this scenario. The script goes a little deeper in expanding her relationship with Bruce. She figured out he's Batman on her own — saving up Alfred's skin — but unfortunately so does her colleague. As a self-designated nice guy, Knox tries to get Batman to break things off with Vicky. He's also waiting for the news of Joker's attacks to quiet down before exposing Batman's identity, but don't worry, the scripts solves this beautifully later on.
Anyways, instead of the confrontation at the apartment of Vicky Vale (also known as Bruce's "let's get nuts" moment and the devil in the moonlight quote) we have a chase scene that leads to Dick's introduction. Before that though comes probably the second scene I most wish they had kept in the movie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, Batman chases Joker on a horse, first wearing a tuxedo, then his whole gear. Do you see what they took from us? What could've been?
Tumblr media
Joker kills the Graysons with pretty explosions, Dick jumps onto Joker's van and tries to kill him but alas is detained by Batman and batnapped.
Batman then asks Alfred to take care of Dick and the last act is set in motion. Pushed by anger and guilt, Batman blows up Ace Chemicals (tho here we're supposed to believe the thugs managed to run out before the place crumbled) but Joker escapes and goes to set the balloon parade in motion.
Tumblr media
Before he can blow away the public, Knox and Vicky create the bat signal to alert Batman about the balloons and Joker's plans are thwarted. Unfortunately (cough) this costs Knox his life. But hey, at least Batman's identity is safe.
Big explosions ensue, the batwing goes down and Bruce is almost left dead in the debris. Dick Grayson, now dawning his makeshift Robin suit, saves him and runs to enact his revenge on Joker.
They enter the cathedral, Joker and Dick exchange some bullets and Batman eventually catches up with Dick, knocking him out again. Then Batman manages to crawl up the stairs through inhuman effort against his fatal injuries, passes out just before reaching the final floor and uh... I'll just post this next part in full
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's made a friend... Attempted murder-suicide... Joker's taken out by a horde of Bats... This would probably have replaced Fight Club in my list of favorite movie endings if it ever came into existence.
Before I close up on our villain and hero's demises, I do have something to point out that I think was improved in the final script. Joker's Smylex — basically Joker Gas, originally meant to be called Smylenol — got added to beauty products and caused some people to die in the movie. I say some, because while we see 13 deaths reported there, here it's something that comes closer to the class of hundreds. He doesn't even invent it, originally; he just steals the formula from an old CIA project. Because the fatal product doesn't happen only when certain products are mixed together, a whole lot more end up becoming victims and Batman can't do much about it except cut out the source. It's just a detail, but I liked that they thought of an alternative. I may not like the Joker mob boss origin, but at least they let him keep his chemical prowess.
Now to the ending. Batman had a last minute bout of clarity and threw the bomb away, tangling it in the helicopter's ladder
Tumblr media
Something something Batman offering Joker a last comfort before death... Endgame and Arkham City and...
Okay, that's pretty much what I've got. Am I mad we didn't get to have this? Kinda. But also, I didn't have big expectations for what actually came out, and it's still a pretty funny film. Besides, I think when it comes to Batman and mainly Joker, sticking to the comics, games and animations is the best way to go. Best to keep the incels focused on the live adaptations anyhow

(Before continuing on to the movie review this week of “Annie Hall”, I feel I need to state this. Yes, this is a Woody Allen film. Yes, he is, without a doubt, a scumbag of a human being. However, I throughly enjoyed the movie. This is because separating the art from the artist is a very real thing people can do, no matter how influenced by the artist’s life the art was. I and everyone else in my class did the same thing.
As my professor said before the screening: “This is a film class, not an ethics class; take your scorn elsewhere”. So please do not come to me with anon hate about the fact that I enjoyed this movie. It will be immediately deleted as if you never sent it. (I know most of the regulars around here know not to do that, and know what kind of person I really am, but you never know who might see this 😬)
Anyway! With that disclaimer out of the way, the review is under the cut for those interested! Thank you all for being respectful and chill 😊)
Another week, another movie in film class! Last week’s “Godfather” didn’t give me much to talk about, but good golly did this one! This week we watched “Annie Hall” by Woody Allen, and it was a romantic comedy. Romantic comedies are something I usually don’t watch very often, with the sole exception of “Pretty Woman” and a couple of others. But this one had a lot of tricks up its sleeve to keep me interested!
The movie is about the relationship between Alvy Singer-Allen-and the titular Annie Hall-Diane Keaton-as it rises, falls, rises again, and eventually breaks up amicably. Alvy’s other relationships are also explored briefly to hammer in the point that he seems to be unlucky in love no matter what. We see this relationship out of order, with their awkward first meeting only coming about a third a ways in. We also break the fourth wall pretty frequently, with fantasy sequences woven in here and there by all characters and frequent asides to the camera by Alvy. In the end, they meet each other one last time for dinner, and the whole thing ends surprisingly poignantly with a metaphor involving love and eggs. Trust me, it was way better than it sounded 😂
The screenplay definitely deserved to win an Oscar, as it’s very tightly written and very funny, if odd and cringe worthy occasionally. What didn’t win an Oscar but was amazing, though, was the cinematography, done by the same dude that did “Godfather” funnily enough. It really captured what it must be like to fall in and out of love against the backdrop of a big city. The fantasy sequences and asides, very unusual for a romcom, also make it stand out from a crowd and keep you guessing what strange-but-realism-driven thing would happen next. The movie line scene with a cameo by Marshall McLuan (you can look it up if you want) was a highlight!
I’d say it’s a combination of what “Scenes from a Marriage” and “Ferris Buller’s Day Off” must be like…but I’ve never seen either lol
Keaton deserved the Oscar for playing Annie, bringing just enough of her real self into the role to make her realistic but enhancing everything when needed to make her the prototype “manic pixie dream girl” she is. Some of my classmates thought Alvy was annoying, what with his constant griping and distinctive voice, and I can definitely see why, but…I saw parts of myself in both of them. My positive qualities in Annie’s free-spiritness and definitely my negative ones in Alvy’s anxieties and overthinking. So I can’t bring myself to hate either, or their performances. They truly captured the “nervous romance” of the tagline!
So, yeah! Overall I really liked this movie! It did a lot of things I didn’t expect a romantic comedy too, and in a good way, too. The burden of how horribly its writer/director/lead actor forked up over the years weights heavy on it, make no mistake, but I think despite that it’s aged decently. If you can find it for free somewhere I recommend watching it! Just, y’know, do what I did. As for me, I will be watching it again as soon as I can find that aforementioned free source lol
Next week is “Network”, the origin of the famous “mad as hell” rant! Definitely a very big change from a romcom, but as someone going to school for media and a news reporter myself I can’t wait to see how it is! I’ll be sure to let you all know. In the meantime, hopefully I’ll be on in a few hours to get to threads.
La dee da la dee da…seriously I loved Annie. See you all soon!

The Best and Worst Things About Each MCU Movie
These are all just my stinky opinions. You are allowed to disagree, you are allowed to agree. Most of these are jokes anyway. I’m honestly just happy you’re reading this. Minor Spoilers Ahead!
Iron Man (2008) -
Best: This movie almost perfectly sets the tone for the entire universe that has at that point yet to have been created. Looking back, you can imagine the feeling of “Where are they going to go from here?” and I think that’s one of the most important things that this movie needed to accomplish.
Worst: What the fuck is Jeff Bridges doing? What’s his endgame here? I get he’s trying to take over Stark Industries but how’s he gonna do that from inside that giant metal suit he uses to kill people inside their cars?
Incredible Hulk (2008) -
Best: Tim Roth is in it and I think that is pretty cool.
Worst: I haven’t actually seen it, but the cgi looks god awful, what the hell.
Iron Man 2 (2010) -
Best: Sam Rockwell is so goddamn annoying in this movie and I think that’s amazing, he’s such a little stinker.
Worst: I remember basically nothing else about this movie except some guy talking about birds, idk.
Thor (2011) -
Best: It introduces Loki, probably one of the most beloved villains in the entire franchise.
Worst: This movie is so goddamn boring and it’s my least favorite and I hate it. Don’t @ me.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) -
Best: The first good chunk of this movie is actually a really compelling character study on Steve Rogers and what makes him a good man. Seeing him basically being paraded as this propaganda figure and watching him struggle with this is one of the most compelling things about him as a person. Really wish they kept this up for the entire movie.
Worst: The red skull is really boring guys. He’s red, that’s it. Give me something else to work with man.
Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) -
Best: This movie proved that you can have a superhero team up with this many people and have it fucking work. It doesn’t matter if you hate or love this movie, you cannot deny the effects it has on the genre.
Worst: It’s shot like a bad CW show. It looks so ugly.
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Best: This one is actually my favorite of the bunch. Exploring the question of what makes Iron Man, the suit or the person, is shown really well here. I thoroughly dig it.
Worst: That scene where Harley flip flops about whether or not he really knows Tony makes me so irrationally angry.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Best: It’s slightly better than Thor, and I actually can feel myself start to have a good time whenever Loki’s on screen.
Worst: Once again, this movie is insanely forgettable. Christopher fucking Eccleston is in this movie and I could not tell you a single thing about this character.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) -
Best: This movie has one of the best hand-to-hand fight scenes in the entire MCU. You know the one I’m talking about. It gives me chills, I love it.
Worst: Having the government stand-in that Steve questions in the beginning of the movie actually be a front for N*zis that he can just beat up, and not an actual metaphor for the issues with the government today? You ain’t slick.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014) -
Best: This is the mcu movie basically anyone can enjoy. Anybody can watch this movie and find something to love about it. The characters, the messages about family and learning to be okay with feeling love, the jokes, hell, even the space setting. THE MUSIC. It’s the full package baby.
Worst: Chris Pratt has an unfortunate cameo in this one.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) -
Best: I have a couple of things. A) The party scene where we get to watch the Avengers talk and be friends with each other and act like people. B) I love James Spader no matter what he is doing.
Worst: Why is everyone quipping? Why is the robot quipping? Why would they massacre my boy like that?
Ant-man (2015) -
Best: I want Paul Rudd to marry me, best dad in the mcu.
Worst: The moment Edgar Wright left this project.
Captain America: Civil War (2016) -
Best: Introduces two great characters, Spider-man and Black Panther. These two get a lot of love when it comes to designing their characters in this movie and it makes me very happy.
Worst: It made the fandom very unhappy and I don’t like picking sides. It feels like watching your many parents get divorced for two hours.
Doctor Strange (2016) -
Best: The magic looks really fucking cool in this movie. Also, the ending with Dormammu is up there for one of my favorite endings of an mcu movie. Having Doctor Strange actually outsmart the villain instead of actually fighting him is endlessly more satisfying.
Worst: Could not tell you a thing else about this movie other than I heard Tilda Swinton plays a character that’s probably not supposed to be white.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) -
Best: Guys, I gotta come clean about something. I actually like this one better than Volume 1. I know, I know, a good majority of people do not feel this way, but I feel a lot more emotionally attached to the movie, and that’s mainly because of two characters: Yondu Udonta and Rocket Racoon. Rocket realizing that he’s an asshole but his found family still loves him gets me, man. I can’t help it. Helps that Ego is a great villain as well. Also the cinematography is some of the best in the mcu.
Worst:  No Howard the Duck.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) -
Best: I think the best thing about this movie is just the solidness of it all. No one part stands out as the best because most everything about this movie is pretty damn good. Michael Keaton will knock your socks off, go watch it.
Worst: Donald Glover is in it to tease a Miles Morales reveal, BUT NOTHING HAS HAPPENED ABOUT IT SINCE.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017) -
Best: Taika Waititi knows how to do shit right, lemme tell ya. Taking away Thor’s hammer from the beginning was probably one of the smartest choices in the movie, and this is a movie of smart choices.
Worst: Jeff Goldblum isn’t in it more.
Black Panther (2018) -
Best: Erik Killmonger is easily the best villain in a Marvel movie, and you can quote me on that. An amazing performance from Michael B. Jordan. It’s also the first Marvel movie I saw in theatres (I know, I was very late to the game)
Worst: Everett K. Ross is CIA propaganda and the last fight scene on the train tracks looks like shit.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) -
Best: It’s really hard to sum up exactly what my thoughts are on this movie. I think one of the movie’s best qualities is the bigness of it. This movie feels huge, there’s a lot of different stuff to love here. If you like Wakanda, there’s a whole epic battle set in Wakanda. If you’re more a fan of the space stuff, we got a whole lotta space stuff. The best part of this movie is there’s probably gonna be something that everyone can enjoy packed in here.
Worst: I also think the bigness of this movie is also one of it’s larger weaknesses. Because there’s so much stuff in this movie, not all of it is fully fleshed out. Tony Stark gets a lot to do in this movie, but Steve Rogers sort of feels sidelined at parts. There’s a perfect balance that I don’t think was quite hit.
Ant-man and The Wasp (2018) -
Best: I still really love Paul Rudd in this movie, and I think his relationship with Cassie is still really cute. World’s Greatest Grandma indeed.
Worst: This movie really had its work cut out for itself, coming off the heels of Infinity War, so it sort of falls short in that respect. I don’t want to criticize it too harshly, it is what it is, nothing insanely memorable.
Captain Marvel (2019) -
Best: I still think this is a pretty good movie, despite what a lot of people think. I struggle a lot with believing that I have to prove myself to others, so having Carol finally realize that she doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone was really important to me, and probably a lot of other women.
Worst: There were parts where I wasn’t as engaged, like the scenes in the Kree empire. That made some of the movie feel off to me, it’s a bit unbalanced.
Avengers: Endgame (2019) -
Best: This movie 100% achieves what it sets out to do, and that is to be a huge cinematic event. I don’t even really see this movie as a movie, it’s more like one huge experience. My viewing had one of the most energetic crowds I’ve ever seen a movie with.
Worst: I don’t really think this movie holds up to multiple re-watches. Granted, I saw it in theatres three times. I don’t think any subsequent viewings are ever going to pack that same punch that my first viewing had, and that makes it harder to come back to. Also Steve had a totally lame ending.
Spider-man: Far From Home (2019) -
Best: After ending on such a downer note in the last movie, this felt like a weight being lifted off my chest. Jake Gyllenhaal gives an insanely energetic performance that I absolutely adore. (Also seeing it with my dad was fun, he would nudge me every time they switched locations to tell me he’d been there)(Also when I saw it with my sibling a kid ran out of the theatre during the Mysterio mind-fuck sequence, some just can’t handle that lifestyle)
Worst: Peter Parker and MJ remind me of how perpetually single I am.

Favourite spider man movies scenes with Tom Holland?
Hey! Thanks for stopping by!
I have so many favorite scenes, but I'll try my best to narrow them down. (And because of who I am as a person, I'm gonna have to go into detail about why I like them--buckle up kids!)
1. Spider-Man Homecoming: Ned Finds Out
I love this scene so much. Peter taking such care to sneak in, only to turn around and see Ned drop the completed LEGO Death Star? It's a perfect concept. The panic and the BFF conversation that follows is adorable, and I never tire of it. Going beyond all of that, it's the first time in a Spider-Man movie that we see someone Peter is very close to--in this case, his best friend--finding out his secret almost from the start. I love that because it's so much more fun to see this young version of Peter Parker share his excitement about being a superhero rather than letting it be all gloom and doom, a burden only he knows about.
2. Spider-Man Homecoming: The Car Scene
This scene, and even the one leading up to it where Peter picks up Liz, is everything. The tension building as Toomes pieces everything together, contrasted by Liz just being a teenager, is brilliant. I was so on-edge watching it in the theater, and so was everyone else--you could hear a pin drop. Michael Keaton is terrifying and he plays this perfectly. When he threatens Peter and then forces him to say "thank you" for "saving his life," my blood boils. Masterfully crafted scene.
3. Spider-Man Homecoming: Trapped
Disclaimer: I've heard this is a scene from the comics and that some think it was disappointing in this film, but as I've not read the comics, all I can go off of is my reaction to this scene on its own. And I LOVE this scene. I'm such a sucker for youngsters overcoming adversity and proving something to themselves, and that's exactly what Peter does here. I think Tom is amazing. He sells the fact that Peter's a scared kid so well with his panic and cries for help and it's absolutely heartbreaking. (I could write another whole disclaimer essay here about how using Tony's words as this point of inspiration here was annoying to me, but I’ll keep my unpopular opinions out of this one lol).
4. Spider-Man Far From Home: The Jet Scene
I love this scene because I love when superheroes are allowed to feel their emotions. Tom is fabulous here, and Peter's tears made me cry. There is so much responsibility on his young shoulders, and he feels like he can't measure up. I appreciate that the scene is the start of Peter recognizing that he's Spider-Man, his own hero, and doesn't have to follow in Tony's footsteps or whatever. (Here's to hoping this theme continues into sm3, I need it!) Anyway, apart from Tom's incredible performance, I love this scene because I love when heroes are taken care of for once instead of taking care of everyone else. I love Peter and Happy's dynamic here, because this scene (and the following scenes where Happy helps Peter form a plan to take Mysterio down) is the first time we see an adult encourage Peter and walk alongside him with his superhero stuff. It's what he deserves!
5. Spider-Man Far From Home: Mysterio Defeated
Peter taking on the drones with nothing but his spider senses? Chills. Peter stopping Mysterio from shooting a gun at his head? I couldn't breathe. This scene is ridiculously cool, and it's also a huge step up from what we see of Peter's fighting skills in Homecoming. It's an awesome reminder of how badass Spider-Man really is, and it's rewarding after seeing Peter be so unsure of himself for the entire film up until that point. Also, Peter's face when he realizes he almost got shot in the head but didn't and can now trust himself again is something else.
6. Spider-Man Far From Home: Peter and MJ at Tower Bridge
This is the cutest, most wholesome scene in any superhero film ever. Their conversation is to die for, and I love how realistically awkward their first kiss is. MJ's smiles are so soft they melt me, and I about died when she took the mace "just in case" and looked back at Peter over her shoulder. And then when he skips away even though he's limping around on a busted-up leg?? Those two smitten kids are all that is right with the world.

Well... Its Out There, Now
Summary: One of your adventures while performing daily tasks on BoneZone, the Island you inhabit with several villagers, including one of my favorites so far, Keaton.
Word Count: 3,312
A/N: The first Animal Crossing fanfic I’ve ever written about the first Animal Crossing game I’ve ever played! Fell in love with it immediately.  Purely wholesome fluff, some coming out stories involved that are definitely not cannon.  I hope you like it!
Suppose I should mention, there’s some cursing, but otherwise totally G-Rated
Feedback is always appreciated, I’d love to be a better writer.
_____________________________________________________________
“Here’s to another morning… Calm… serene… kinda dull…” You said to yourself, waking alone in your rented house on BoneZone.  You had jokingly shouted out the name during an island meeting, but the innocent villagers decided it was unique and loved it.
“It’ll be a fun story when I get visitors,” you thought at the time.  But you’d been on the island for a few months now and has had no visitors, just mail.  Which was better than nothing, but you missed your family, your friends…
“Think of it as a vacation, he said,” You mocked as you got dressed.  That is what your brother had said before you boarded the plane, headed to this island getaway, which you originally thought to be just that, until you became the island’s representative.   But, admittedly, it was nice not being in school, or employed in some office somewhere while still having a nice living space and food on the table.  Even the villagers have taken a liking to your and seemed to be Tom Nook’s right-hand person when it came to island matters.  You just wish someone, anyone of your friends or family could have come with you.
Anyway, you walked into your living room and was greeted by Russell, your pudgy cat.  At least you got to take him.  He released a pitiful “Rrreow,” as he does every morning before you go out to pick up debris and pull weeds.
“Russ, you know by now I do this every morning and I’m back for lunch,” you reminded as you filled his food and water bowls, as if he understood.  “I love you and will be back soon.”
With that, you headed out, making your rounds, greeting the villagers you came across.
“Yo, hoohaahaa, what’s up?” Louie, the fitness-enthused gorilla called, jogging past.
“Hey, Louie!” you called back, and glanced at your phone.  8:13.  He was probably on his 28th lap by now.  22 more to go.  “Make sure to stay hydrated.  We don’t want a repeat of what happened last week.”
Louie actually stopped, scratched the back of his head, and blussed.  “Yeah… I was pretty lucky you happened to be in the orchard that day.  You’re the best!” He called out, and continued his work out.
“He’s crazy,” You said to yourself, shaking your head.
“I’ll say.” You jumped, looking to your right to see Keaton snickering.  A bird with vibrant blue and yellow feathers shouldn’t be hard to spot, but dammit he managed.  The two of you hit it off pretty quickly, and his company became comforting, especially when you faced some serious homesickness.
“I don’t want a heart-attack today, Keaton.” You stated and crossed your arms, but a small grin gave away how amused you were.
“I would never do such a thing, friendo. Never. Now, scare you for my own entertainment… that, I would do.”  You raised an eyebrow.
“Hey, you want a deal on that house expansion or not?”
Keaton put his wings over his heart. “I’m hurt, that you would stoop so low… with me of all people.”  You gave him a gentle nudge.
“I’m teasing you, feather-face.  But, if you wanted to make sure that deal comes through, you could help me out this morning. I need to pull weeds, tend to the garden…”
“Hmmm,” he exasperated, “Walk around the island with my bestie and share gossip? I think I can manage.”
They first made their way around Resident Services.  Kicks happened to be by Resident Services today, selling his shoes and bags.  They stopped to look a bit; You found a bag that you thought to fill with other items and send to your family as a care package.  For now, you slung it over your shoulders, and they continued to the beachside garden, and began pulling weeds.
“So, when do I get to meet the folks? The friends? Or are you actually on the run for something and can’t go back home?” Keaton asked teasingly.  You rolled your eyes and shook your head, the signature expression.
“Whenever they visit.” You said simply, knowing that Keaton meant no harm, but you missed them the more they were mentioned.
“What about you? Anyone here catch your eye?” you grinned.  For once, you saw Keaton hesitate, and he stopped pulling weeds for a moment.
“Hey, if I said something wrong-”
“No, you didn’t. I was just thinking…” he said, casting another uprooted weed aside.  The two of you walked over to the river to rinse off.
“You can tell me. You know the golden rule, we share other people’s gossip, not ours.” You joked, bringing barely a half smile to his face.  They stood and continued to the main garden, where the villagers collaborated to produce hybrid plants.  The two sat on a nearby bench, deciding to take a break.
“…Y/N...” He said, almost whispering. “I do have my eyes on someone… another bird…”  Your eyes widened.
“Is it Piper? You never told me anything!” You would have exclaimed, but in whisper form.  Even so, Keaton flailed his wings and shushed you.
“NOOO! She and I are just good friends.”  You raised an eyebrow.  “You suuuuure?”
“Y/N, I’m trying to be serious here.” The smirk quickly vanished and you nodded.  Keaton brought his knees to his chest, not unlike a scared child during a thunderstorm.
“…it’s… Wilbur.”  You breathed a sigh and chuckled a little bit, infuriating the bird.  He stood up quickly.
“I TRUSTED YOU, Y/N! And you’re sitting here, laughing at me and-“
“HEY, chill, unless you want to wake up the island.” Keaton sat back down.
“I honestly wasn’t sure what I was expecting… But Keaton, bottom line, relax.  I don’t care if you have a crush on Wilbur.”  He tucked his knees to his chest again and looked you in the eye. “Really?”
“Dude, half of my friends are gay.  And regardless, I don’t love them any more or less based on who they love.  People like to make this complicated.  It’s really not.”  Keaton just looked at you for a minute, and sighed, and nodded.
“Well, is there something else on your mind? You’ve never been this quiet for this long,” You jested.  He gave you a smirk and a sideways glace before hitting your arm. “Shut up.  It just feels nice to get that off my chest.  Thanks, wingo.” He said, and turned to wrap his wings around you in a hug.  You squeezed back, though had a mischievous glare still in your eye.
“Just don’t say anything too early.  I had Bells on you and Piper.” Keaton gasped dramatically (yup, he’s back) and exclaimed, “HOW RUDE!” before pushing your away from him and off the bench.  You cackled the entire time, and once Keaton started laughing too you grabbed onto his legs and dragged him down with you.
“Oh, that’s it! Chores be damned, it’s go-time!” You sprang up before he finished his threat and ran, both careful to follow the path and not ruin the flowers (all the villagers would be upset, but you both would have surely faced Dobie’s wrath).  Once out of the garden, you made a beeline for the river; you had your retractable vaulting pole thankfully.  You dug it out of your pocket, pushed the button that released the pole, and vaulted over the river.  As you retracted and returned it to your pocket, you turned and saw Keaton on the other side.  You blew a raspberry before calmly strolling away.  Keaton would not be defeated, not like this.  He backed up a bit, enough to get a full sprint toward the river before jumping.  That and one hard flap of his wings got him across the river.
You were content catching your breath, walking along the beach, until you heard footsteps.  “Oh, this must be Louie’s last lap.  Good for hi-“ your thought was interrupted as a set of wings took your around the middle, tumbling onto the warm sand of the shore.  You landed on your back, but before you entered full-blown attack mode you looked up and saw Keaton strattled over your and laughing loudly.  You couldn’t help but to laugh too, and tried to topple Keaton over.  However, he took your wrists and planted himself more firmly to the sand, still giggling light heartedly.
“Oh, I don’t think so.  You were super rude earlier.  I think it’s time you apologized.”  The only human on the island rolled their eyes yet again.  “I was teasing you, dude.”  He shrugged, but didn’t budge.  You sighed.
“Oooh fine.  Keaton, I’m sorry about the joke I made with Piper and Bells. Happy?”  Keaton smirked.
“Almost.  Now, you have to tell me a secret, since I told you a big one about me.”
“Are you joking?”
“Does this face look like it’s joking?” You paused.  Keaton glared, knowing there was a sarcastic comment just dying to come out.
“Y/N, I swear-“
“No, but it looks like a punch line!” you giggled at your own joke as if it were the funniest thing you could have said.
“WOW, you’re on a roll today!” Keaton exclaimed, amplifying your laughter.  He wasn’t a dumb bird, he knew there was a reason you spent so much time by yourself, even after meeting and getting to know everyone that’s moved on the island.  In fact, greeting new villagers was your job, and yet you were still holding something back.
“Come on, you aren’t getting up until I hear some spilled tea.  Let’s go,” he demanded, but you shook your head defiantly.
“I don’t have any secrets for you, Keaton.  I’m a pretty open book.”
“That so? Then why are you still trying so hard to get me off of you?”  For having nothing to hide, you were trying awful hard to get your wrists back.  So, you wracked your brain for anything unrelated to “spill,” but just didn’t have anything else.
“Now who’s being quiet?” Keaton playfully mocked.   You didn’t know what else to say, so you blurted, “I have three tattoos!”  Keaton looked blankly at you.
“I know that.  And even if I didn’t, that’s not a great secret.”
“But you’ve only seen two.  How do you really know?” Silent blank-staring.  Keaton then noticed the bottom of your shirt rose slightly from the struggle.
“Y/N, hang on, I don’t want the sand to burn you,” he said, releasing a wrist as to fix it.  However, when his feathered fingers stroked the exposed skin, you jerked and instinctively grabbed his wrist.  He was shocked at the suddenness of your movements, but then it clicked.
“Oh, honey… that’s the kind of secret I’m talking about…”
“Keaton, NOO-“
“The kind I can totally get behind using against you.”
“Keaton no means no-AAGGH, no-ho, KEEHEEATON!” Safe to say, you underestimated how strong Keaton was.  He quickly freed the wrist you caught, held both of yours in one wing and held them to one side, giving him free reign to glide his feathers over your now more-exposed hip bone.  You brought your head to your hands and hid your face while you cackled endlessly at the ticklish sensation.
“STAHAHP, KEHEATON, pleaaAH! HAHA!” Keaton smirked at your desperate attempt at coherent English, as he went from gentle gliding to pinching your hip and working his way up and down your side, while you frantically and flutily kicked the air behind them.
“You, one of the reasons I liked you was because you and I can pick on each other..  But now, knowing this, I know juuuuust how to bring you down a peg!”  Your hiding in your hands didn’t go unnoticed, nor did the fact that aside from hiding your face, you weren’t making any real effort to get away from him.
“You want to know what I find funny?” He asked and paused so you could answer.
“Really *huff* bad *huff* dad jokes.”
“Despite it all, I don’t think I’m going to break your sarcasm,” the bright bird replied with a blank expression.  “Anyway, no. I think it’s funny that you’d rather spend your energy hiding your face than stopping me~.”  You didn’t say anything, but your cheeks flushed a deep red, and you attempted to hide your face again.
“Nuh uh, none of that!” he exclaimed, and rather than just holding your wrists to the side, he lifted them above your head.  “There’ll be no more hiding for you~.” You shuddered in anticipation, and witnessed mischief take over Keaton’s facial features.  If he and Wilber ever got together, you’d have to remember to properly warn him about Keaton’s dark side.
“Though, I’m willing to make a deal with you.”  You sighed and relaxed… while you could.
“What kind of deal?”  That glint in Keaton’s eye… you were all too familiar with.  He’s not done.
“I think this is a fantastic secret you’ve shared with me… whether you meant to or not,” he started, and glided his feathers across your exposed skin, from one hipbone to the other.  You clenched your fists and gritted your teeth to try to maintain some form of composure now that you couldn’t hide your face.  Keaton chuckled and continued.
“But anyway, I still don’t think it quite adds up to mine.  I think I need to know which places will wreck you.”  You tried to feign disbelief.
“You don’t think I’m wrecked now?”
“No, I think you were surprised. And I think there would have been a lot more of a struggle if I were onto something. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think this-” He suddenly grabbed and poked at your hip and sides, causing an explosive cackle “-is effective.  And adorable.”
“Fuhuhck off,” you replied casually, then froze after seeing his surprised face.  Then you realized it was the first time you’d ever said that to him.   In jest, of course, but Keaton, ever the dramatic one, played as though he’d never been more hurt or offended.
“Oh, I was going to give you the option to tell me.  But that chance has been blown.” He began sinisterly. “I’ll just find out myself.”
“Wait no Keaton I didn’t meheheAAAN IIIITT! NOOOHOHOHAHAHAA!” You couldn’t speak clear enough, and had no way of covering your face, but you still tried to contain yourself enough that he might get bored, or think all of your ticklish areas were about the same.  But you were never a good actor; and he had already decided to begin his onslaught again on a bad spot.  He kneaded in the middle of your rib cage, resulting in complete hysterics.
“Well, lucky guess!” he exclaimed, switching between this spot and your underarms randomly.  It was as if you’d never reacted to such a ticklish onslaught before.  “Right? Did I guess right?” he tormented, and he chuckled to himself as You frantically nodded and grabbed his wrists instinctively.
Soon enough though your laughing grew silent, and Keaton figured you’d just about had enough.  He relented and let go of your wrists, then laughed when you didn’t move them from over your head; you just remained still to catch your breath.
“It’s *huff* too early *huff* for this *huff* shit.”  Keaton cackled evilly.
“Gee, I wonder what discoveries I’ll make if I just, ya know, turned around and tried the other half of you.” Your eyes widened and summoned at least enough strength to shove him off, and turned to run until you was jerked backward:  Keaton had hurried and grabbed the bag you’d bought earlier that was on your back and used it to catch and knock your off balance, forcing you on the ground, lying face down.
“Damnit!  That care package cost me more than just Bells…”
“Your folks and I are lucky you’re so thoughtful.” Keaton played, clearly enjoying himself.
“Oh, shut the hell up.”
“Wow, grouchy.  Bet I can fix that, though,” Keaton teased, and You braced yourself again…  But nothing came.
“… on second thought, nah.” Keaton said while standing and offered his wing to help you up.  You looked up at him skeptically, and took his wing.
“What?”
“I decided you earned a break.  Plus, that reaction was gold, I know you’re hiding something else, and I’ll try to find out what when you least expect it.”  He said triumphantly, though still sporting a sinister glare.
“Oooh, that’s dirty,” You replied, but couldn’t help but grin.
“What? It gives you a chance to enjoy yourself unexpectedly, too, ya know.” The red glow still played at your cheeks, even after you’d caught your breath.
“I don’t know what you mean.” You said sourly with your arms crossed.
“Oh,” Keaton started as they continued along the shoreline toward Bertha and Elise’s houses, picking up shells as they walked. “I’m not oblivious, friendo.  If you enjoy something and no one gets hurt, there’s nothing to be embarrassed over.”  The statement did NOT help, as you turned away again, feeling the heat intensifying on your face.  Deciding he wasn’t helping, he tried to change the subject.
“So… what do you think my chances are with Wilbur?  You fly a lot, have you talked to him much?”  You peeked over at him, and decided to set your shells down and sit in one of the new beach chairs you’d placed a few days ago.  Keaton took the one next to you.  You shrugged before responding.
“He seems nice, but I’ve never gotten a vibe as to his preference.  I could talk to him more, be your wingmate.” You offered, wiggling your eyebrows at the colorful bird. Keaton beamed.
“You would?? I’d really like that, wingo! Thanks!”
“It’s no problem.”  Even carrying on normal conversation, Keaton still had a feeling something was still… off.
“Hey, wingo, there are no hard feelings about earlier, are there? I mean, I was just playing, that’s all, I didn’t mean-“
“You’re okay, Keaton,” You stated, finally turning to face him.  You were actually smiling, albeit kind of sadly.
“You’re right though, from earlier.  I was caught off guard, I do… actually… enjoy it… it’s hard to admit.  I’ve never told anyone about it.”
“Are you for real?” Keaton asked.  “What are you afraid of? I’m sure no one that loves and cares about you would think anything of it.  At least no more than your usual weird.” He smirked.  You shot him a glare, but smirked back.  Your face returned to one of indifference and took a deep breath.
“I know that.  I just have a hard time talking about it.”
“Why?”  You remained silent for a bit.
“I don’t really know.  It’s just a… thing.  I don’t know.”  Keaton thought about it for a second.  You looked back over.
“Really, you don’t have to worry about it.  I’m not sure when I’ll see any of them again anyway, with me trying to get something started for myself here and all, so…  and it’s not worth all the thinking.”
He was clearly not listening, and proved it when he turned and said, “Ya know, the news is a thing.  Music is a thing.  There are a lot of things that you don’t have a problem talking about that you like, right?”
“Well, yeah, but-“
“No buts, I’m not done,” he remarked sassily. You snickered and let him continue.  “My point is, maybe you should just think about it as if it’s one of those types of things.  And from what you’ve told me, you have decent enough people in your life to listen without passing judgement.  And if anyone does… well, another thing is this side of me that hardly ever has to come out, but it will for you, friendo.”
“…oh,” You remarked.  Don’t piss off Keaton.  Got it.  He laughed again.
“Does any of that make sense?”
“Yeah.  I think so.  Maybe I’ll approach it that way next time.”
“Good.  And let me know how it turns out.  Because I love it when people tell me I’m right.”
“Oh, fuck you.”

Happy Birth to Giuseppe Gillespie!! born on Elona 8th, 42 BBY!
another Clone Wars era Jedi, he’s the former padawan of Deasamu Lacrimosa and later the master of Ihme Farmendeer. though, in between that, he became the boyfriend of Vince Keaton.
a Zelosian born on his people’s homeworld of Zelos II, Gil still held a connection to his birthplace despite having to leave it for the Jedi Order at a young age. probably b/c Coruscant is literally just one giant city w/ not a whole lot of natural plant life, he made a habit of tending to the temple’s gardens as often as he could in his spare time. or, if nothing else, they were simply his favorite place to meditate. it’s also where he met Vince for the first time when they were both still younglings, and while they were able to stay friends for quite some time, they lost touch when they both finally became padawans. but they inevitably reunited, and while their relationship didn’t become official until well after the rise of the Empire, they certainly wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to spend time w/ each other pre-Purge.
and speaking of which, he did manage to survive Order 66; i like to think he learned a lot from his master and Vince, both of whom also survived long enough to join the Rebellion. that’s where he and Vince ultimately reunite, and not long after, he gets to reunite w/ Master Lacri as well, which is how he eventually met Lacri’s new padawan Jey-Min (who later introduced him to her surrogate son Ihme). so yeah, that’s how all that connects, lol.
but ye, Gil’s just that kinda guy who loves being around other people. not that he’s a particularly outgoing or boisterous person (he’s pretty chill tbh), but he just enjoys the company of others. he likes making new friends; it’s not too difficult for him to just pick up right where he left off w/ someone if they’ve spent any amount of time apart. once he gets to know you, you’ve essentially got a friend for life, b/c he’s just a good, sweet plant boi like that.
~one year later...
i was thinking about his and Vince’s reunion post-o66 the other day, having not gone over this beforehand to remind myself of any details, and tbh i do want to change to him meeting back up w/ Lacri first. that bit is def still fuzzy to me, but at least a good while afterwards, some Rebel contacts of theirs who’re trying to liberate some little backwater planet (w/ minor Imperial industrial presence on it) got caught and things nearly went completely south. neither he nor Lacri were able to be there in-person to help, but they at least were able to receive any survivors who escaped. they were prepped for that anyway, knowing they’d be taking in more civilians/defectors, but what Gil esp didn’t expect was for Vince to be among them. and while it still takes a hot minute for them to finally have a moment of privacy to admit any feelings for each other, cue Gil gleefully parading Vince around anyway, hgjsdhg.

So these are my own photos from the awesome Suede gig at OFF festival in Katowice, Poland, last Sunday, August the 4th. And my setlist, as it looks now. It’s still wrinkly and ripped, but looks a whole lot better than right after the gig - compare it with the photo I posted then! Well, it suffered an attack from a crazy fan who couldn’t stand that it was us who got it and not her. I’ll never know whether she attempted to snatch it from our hands or, knowing she couldn’t have it, decided she’d rather destroy it than let us have it… A chilling experience that cast a shadow on the otherwise perfect night.
We did manage to secure places on the barrier again, even if that was somewhat harder to achieve than in Zagreb in June. In fact, we had almost the same places: in front of Richard, a little bit more centred. I love watching Richard play (he’s my 2nd most fave Suede boy after all!), but having a place in front of him means that you can have only a rather limited view of Neil… Well, you can’t have everything, I guess. And the places in front of Neil are always occupied by the Insatiable Ones contingent anyway.
When we were waiting for the start of the gig in Zagreb Simon appeared on the stage for a while to check if his drums were OK. I was delighted to see him do the same in Katowice and this time we didn’t shy away - the moment we saw him we cheered and screamed ‘Simooon’, so he waved to us! Sweeet… Killing the time while waiting for the gig to start, my cousin drew this 1993 Brett on her phone. I posted the drawing right then, but I think it’s cool enough to have it included here too, so here you are:
Tumblr media
The gig itself was excellent and as intense as the one in Zagreb in June. The absolute highlight for me was The Asphalt World. I actually couldn’t believe when I heard its beginning, as I didn’t expect them to play it that night at all. It’s such a special song and a chance for Richard to shine… I was also happy to hear She (injecting marij-a-uanaaa).
Unfortunately the stage wasn’t equipped with a flight of stairs to let Brett come down to us on the barrier easily (as it was in Zagreb), so to get down he had to use a special construction built from huge loudspeakers and various containers stucked up below the left side of the stage (already used successfully by Jarvis 2 nights earlier, by the way). But whenever he got down, he would only go as far as the IO group on the barrier, and would never reach even the middle of the barrier… And that happened 3 times in a row - sooo frustrating! He also mixed with the crowd for a while, but again only in the area of the IOs… Of course we could see him just metres away from us on the stage, also right in front of us (see the photos), and he sometimes even looked at us then (yayyy), but we wanted him sooo much to come to us! And this FINALLY happened when there was only a glimmer of hope he would: in the last minutes of the last song!! So this was during Life Is Golden - quite aptly, as this was the song during which he also came to us in Zagreb. Again, he first visited the IO group, but left them after a while and, to our joy, came to us too at long last… You can see this in the attached video (credits to Andre D. Keaton, who also filmed parts of the Zagreb gig). Brett was with us from 3:20 to 4:10. This time he wasn’t on the segment of the barrier right in front of us but the next one to the left, so to reach him I had to turn left and lean over the barrier a bit, but never mind: Life WAS Golden then again!
youtube
And when this song was over, so was the gig… One special treat for us right at the end was when we clapped our hands, and cheered, and I screamed ‘Richaaard!’ - he looked at us, smiled and blew us a kiss, which can be seen at the end of the video. My heart nearly melted then… And that was it, they were gone. What followed was The Setlist Horror I mentioned at the beginning. Much as upsetting it was, it couldn’t ruin this special night for us, though it was a bit scary to realize what some other fans are capable of doing when they cannot get what they desire…

Demigod Delinquents | A Masterlist! Weeee
I wonder if anyone is reading my content... anyways. I decided to finally create a masterlist because it makes things so much easier for you guys. Anyways, love y’all :)
Totally share my writing but don’t steal it (I feel like that’s obvious but I’m gonna say that anyways.) bebeep.
NOT COMPLETE :)
Summary: Percy, Jason, and Leo are called on a quest in which they go undercover in a prison to recover some demigods. My lovely amateur fanfiction writing should hopefully not make your eyes bleed.
Part 1: Percy and Annabeth are adorable :) That’s it.
Part 2: Leo has a wifey fight with Calypso, I write in spanish because i want to, and yeah
Part 3: Jason is an angsty boi, boiling with aNgEr and jEaLOusY and rAgE because he can’t handle being something he’s not because he’s weak and no hate but jason is not my friend. I can’t write for him.
Part 4: Where we dropping bois? Prison, that’s where. *nae naes*
Part 5: so it’s this whole thing where disfjiwjfotjwoirtnjkwenykrty our new elected queen mera does the whole intimidation thing
Part 6: Jason makes a no-no move on Ace and we get to know the new demigods only a slight bit more (i feel like this part is lacking, so part 7 is coming really soon. do not fear.
Part 7: I did say it would come soon, didn’t I? Here you go. In this part: 2 squads become 1 and mera x keaton because it wasn’t there before? no, it was, but it’s here and BETTER. WE get a Tragic Backstory™ and Mera gets to flirt with Keaton. Whoop!
Part 8: It’s here and we get a very cute perma* (percy x mera) friendship scene in which they disclose everything they needed to say and I love it
Part 9: The demigods have a quick stop at the administrators office because jAsON diD a No nO . leo is CREEPED OUT to say the least but jfdowlwerkjrklwejrk
Part 10: The kiddos are at it again, just chilling– but wAIT! they’re going to do something illegal?? yes they are ! ! they are going to *milly rocks* try and crack a safe! *milly rocks again*
Part 11: things get heated when mr richardson becomes a BIG BAD MONSTER THING. yeah. bad. explosions bad.
I’m sorry. This started as a fun summr thing and I’m writing I SWEAR but i’m slow and i’m a baby and that’s not what i dedicate my time to and school is starting again so part 12 will not be out for another thousand years but if you stick around i swear it will be worth it :)

O, Q, R
O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
I’ll use somebody who I haven’t talked of a lot because I seriously need to include her more: Zeta
Currently, Zeta does have her eye on somebody which is something completely new for her, and very strange. Never did she imagine such a thing happening to her.
It’s not really obvious because she always has a serious expression, has a sort of monotone voice, and she’s not the easiest to read. However, she does accidentally make it obvious to only a few, but only when in the presence of her crush.
She blushes and her hands/fingers start to twitch, so she crosses them before somebody points out that she’s got a bit of sweat, so she excuses herself and doesn’t come out for a while.
Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
Hmm, I would say that (older) Ula’s aura and emotion sensing is what would be beneficial in a relationship. She can tell when her partner is feeling certain things, make them feel better. Sometimes it’s on purpose, sometimes it’s not(just like with her mum).
And also just like her mom(though not yet at least) she’ll be able to manipulate emotions for a temporary time(but she will use this through other means if you know what I mean).
R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
Ironically, one of my most romantics clowns is...Walter
Honestly, it’s a pretty basic/obvious fact about him, but you wouldn’t really know considering how romance is kind of the last thing on his mind
Anyways, he’s a very cliche guy, while also being creative. He’s gonna woo his person of interest with whatever they desire. He’s like The Mask(Jim Carrey one of course) but obviously toned down, more chill. Such a gentleman, will kiss his person of interest’s hand, do the cliche coat-on-puddle thing. He’s such a great guy.
If he were to ever be interested in somebody, they’d expect little gifts and such, maybe little notes, etc. He’s such a sweet guy and everything he does makes your heart soar, ya know? He’d even perform one of his Buster Keaton stunts if it’ll make the person smile.
Schrader had to have gotten that romantic side of him from somewhere

I wanted to do a full video cast assessment but my phone storage truly sucks on this night at 3:00 am and I have shit to do tomorrow so :) gotta write!! Myfeelings!!!! David - has said Hewwo when we were revealed and vanished. Hopefully he can deliver in a comp Bc rn he’s kinda irrelevant :( holding out hope tho Willow - queen of being busy,,, we talked in pms but for like a minute,, she knows some of my friends from an FB game I watched her play tho! So that’s SOMETHing, but not a lot. I’ve heard not the greatest things about her social game in the past tho, so I’m not shocked rn Evan - I think I’ve actuallh played w him before assuming this is the same Evan from  erinsborough? Big shrug, he was inactive that game tho and would’ve striked out if we didn’t vote him,,, hopefully things are different tho? His picture is Gavin from DP and I appreciate it greatly,, Tom - I just got off of a 5 hour call w him and he seems really chill!? Haven’t talked in pms yet or anything so hopefully we can do that soon? But he seems like a great dude!! His dog is super fucking cute too. JJ - I think of my entire tribe, he’s the epitome of extra. He has 50 fucking sugar gliders like??????? Ma’am?????????? Also he’s from tengaged and MORE IMPORTANTLY he knows keaton apparently!! So,,, probably a crackhead knowing my luck w Keaton. He’s very outgoing and friendly tho and definitely seems like someone i COULD work with,,, but I wanna see how everything plays out, Caeleb - adopted him as my grandson. Bc he called me his grandma. He seems like a sweetie pie it’s his first org ever though so go him!! Hopefully grandma can take him under her wing hehe Mo - literally one of my first close friends in the community,, an angel whom owns my heart, I feel like he’d wanna work w me but I’d never know fully until we prove our loyalties yk? So I’m also holding out hope for him,,, king. Alex - I love him!!!? So much???? He said he stans me I love him sm Bc I remember stanning  him when I first started playing Bc he’s all I’d heard about art in the community lolol but I’m v excited to actuallh play with him I fucking called him being here :) Jules - my love my light we just clicked real quick, she’s legitimately an angel whom I adore??? It’s her first survivor game I’m rooting for her. But ya I’m exhausted so that’s it for now UwU gn bois
Tumblr media
okie I feel like I should do a cast assessment of my tribe, just as a starter. my opinions will like 1000% change so this is by no means final but woo I'll go with this!
In general... this cast is... pretty good? Like I was very very worried since I'm so annoying that everyone that hates me would reappear for this season, but I think(?) only like... one person in the cast would dislike me/gun for me for preseason stuff. Anywho:
Benj: Okay he seems super super nice! Like he seems really friendly, we have a lot in common already and I think since we are both in weird timezones we could work really well as allies! He seems super like chill and would work with just people he seems to get along with, so I feel like... that could be a real potential alliance in the future ahhh!
Ian: Ian I haven't spoken to all that much yet (he was towards the end of the cast reveal) but he seems really really chill! He has also come 2nd twice which is something I can relate to, so maybe we will be on a similar page as players?
Jared: Okay first fellow newbie. We haven't spoken much or had the chance to really like have a good conversation so far! I feel like since its 12-8 for newbies, maybe its a good idea for us to group up tho, idk if it can happen since at least for me, I haven't really connected to the newbies as much?
Jason: He is so so fun! Like I've really liked talking with him so far, he was on the CAH call yesterday and was getting along with Julia which is really good too, since I defo wanna work with them both!
Julia: A QUEEN. okay I was very worried seeing her on the cast reveal since both times I've played with her, I've voted her out very very early.... BUT, she seems interested in wanting to work with me and I'd love to because such a wild time, and I feel like... me and her strengths/weaknesses can kind of counterbalance in a way that'll work really well! She could always be playing me, but tbh... its what I deserve anyway, and I'd LOVE to see her do really well this season.
Madeline: I really like her! I've spoken to her probs the most of the newbies and she seems really nice and social which is super good! I feel like she'll fit in for a while and have quite smooth sailing
Michael: I'm sure he is great, but we haven't really.. been able to talk all that much? I feel like if I had to predict who would go if our tribe lost, I'd... probably say him?
Mitch: omg this cast is so big I'm not even through my tribe AHH. anyway mitch was on the first cast reveal like I was. I get ok vibes from him, he seems like... he is here to play the game hard which makes me nervy, but hopefully I can like fudge that to my advantage?
Noah: okay he is super fun, I feel like... our conversations have been very dry, but also that its 100% my fault. idk the ability to be interesting just kind of _dropped_ out of me but I'll try and redeem that today
okay the other tribe I'll just skim through and do the ones I know:
Alex C.: he seems like a king! I've been in VLs for seasons he has been in, I feel like he will not like me but I'd love to meet him!
David R.: okay he will 10000% not remember me, but he was in my first season ever! he was very inactive and his only like... confessional was about me being annoying KJSLDAD which is maybe a.. bad sign! lets see how it goes this time
Jones: She seems SO nice! I have been in VLs with her before, and she seems so so so nice! I'd love to play with her down the line, but I think she is also probs here to WIN which is scary.
Jules: A LEGEND! I love Jules, would love to work with them if possible! They're probably the person I am closest to pregame but can hopefully keep that hush hush...
Mo: a king! I hosted him for his first season, and he was SO much fun. I feel like he has gone off me, but I'm super excited to see how he does!
Tom: he is... probably the biggest problem for me in the cast? Like he was in the only season I won, and saw me play a snake game which I do not intend to play like this time? But I feel like if he still dislikes me (which he might), he could like... tell people how snakey I was! I would love to like work with him if he wants, but I feel like he wouldn't trust me at all KASDLF
Willow: A queen! I haven't spoken to her in ages but used to around her first season a lot! so so nice.
Yeah so overall thoughts on each tribe:
Durmitor: Almost everyone I knew preseason was on this tribe, which is probably to my advantage, that'll hopefully help out in like... a swap situation? Worried about Tom but am cautiously optimistic about Willow/Mo/Jules! I feel like this tribe is gonna do very very good on challlenges which... AHHHH i don't wanna go to tribal
Budva: Okay I really like my tribe! I get the best vibes from Benj, Julia & Jason who are all people I'd love to work with! I think(?) I could be okay for now, like I feel like I've already got some good ties, and that there are other people that would go... before me... maybe? Its probably only like 2 rounds on these tribes so I maybe don't even need to last that long aksfda
Tumblr media
Ugh honestly why am I back and like... I DON’T ANYBODY HERE? Nicole G is my spirit animal.
Well except for Jason and Julia. I do know them as well as Alex and Rob. Basically I don’t know anyone post chamonix and I feel like a fish out of water. I’ll either flop hard or finally fucking win so let’s see how this game plays.
My tribe is idk, quiet? But like we called and played cards against humanity which was fun but like idk Anau and Monte Rosa were just more active and fun and all.
Julia - fellow oldie, I might work with her since she’s quite social and all. Witchcraft and all.
Jason - I wanna work with him because 1) oldie 2) fellow runner-up and 3) he knows josh. And if my TS career hasn’t proven me wrong, people who I play with who know josh are a huge BOON to my game so yeahhH
Benj - he seems nice. He lives New Zealand so we will probably be the only ones awake at our respective time zones so that can be grounds for something :D
Ali - seems nice as well. We talked about the weather and all so that was fun.
Mitch - we had a short convo so idk him very well to get a good read on him.
Jared - We only started talking now so we will see hmmm
Michael - I’m 50% sure he’s a robot. Just because he sends messages like a robot but I could be wrong. Idk it’s hard to get a read on him but we talked some and I hope he is good at challenges
Madeline - She told me she was a returnee but the wiki says she ain’t? What is the truth. Seems nice?? Idk
Noah - we haven’t talked
Tbh this is probably the most quiet starting tribe I’ve been on. Nicole G is my sprit animal btw
(hi plss add this to the first confessionals i sent) Asya - haven’t talked to her as well. But she did briefly joined the tribe call

Here's a Video Confessional that details what’s on my mind:

America I think I fucked myself over on this one. I told JJ and Tom last night that I got 155k in sandwich stacker the last time I played it and now I think they’re expecting me to recreate that score?? And like,,, do better?????? But it turns out I’m unexpectedly very busy today and I can’t even do it when I get home Bc I’m not gonna have a laptop to play it on,, so I fucked myself over on this one chief. Not only am I most likely not doing this challenge, but I set myself up to look like a challenge threat!! When I can’t even back it up???? Love that for me :)
Tumblr media
okay so I've now had a chance to talk to pretty much my whole tribe more which is fun. I LOVE THEM ALL AND REFUSE TO EVER. GO. TO. TRIBAL.
So my favourites atm are defo Julia, she is SUCH a legend, and her hex powers will carry us to success. I'm also really liking Benj & Jason on a personal level, they are super fun, and like chill on a game level which I really like!
Of the rest, Jared approached me to work with me which AHH exciting! But it was kind of unprompted and outta nowhere, so I'm worried he could play a bit too hard too fast, so will try and keep an eye on him. Madeline is super fun, I'm really liking talking to her, and I'm more reassured about working with my fellow newbies now, since Jared/Madeline I'm really liking! Michael is super sweet, he sent me this long nice message about how to pronounce my name which was super sweet, I haven't spoken to him too much yet! Noah I've spoken to the least, he is my biggest ??? so far, which ahh but I'll figure that one out. Mitch is quite quiet but I really like him! Ian is a king!
AHH I LOVE EVERYONE THIS IS A PROBLEM. I always do this where I make friends with everyone and then have to betray someone every round. I'm determined to pace myself this time. Julia is my Number #1 rn, she approached me first and I think we are a great balancing pair. I also really like Benj/Jason, would love to maybe be in a bigger alliance with them? Jared I'm like... apprehensive that he is gonna play really hard, but also wanna work with him. Those are probably my top four rn? I'd then put Madeline/Ian on the next level, Mitch the level below and Noah/Michael on the bottom level as my biggest unknowns!
otherwise this challenge is so demonic, and one day I will get revenge on seamus for making us endure this. I think I'm doing pretty good, and like... can't face the bread anymore, so will probs stick with my score. I really don't wanna go to tribal so hope my tribe can pull this out wooo!
Tumblr media
Hi it’s Mo, I’m the dumb bitch who thinks he needs a Gatorade after walking up a flight of stairs. At the moment I’m feeling very distressed because I sat outside for a good hour or so and some mosquitos decided to take it upon themselves to go to town on my legs. But game-wise I’m feeling very comfortable on my tribe. I think I made some good connections on the tribe call last night and I got to know everyone really well and literally I have no complaints about anyone at the moment. They’re all super chill. My biggest fear is letting them down so I’m doing my best to get a good score on sandwich stacker.
Tumblr media
Wow It's great to be back and not know like a single soul! I will kms because of that! Also wow my boss sprung a double on me today so I didnt get to talk to anyone! In the first 24 hours! I love this for me! Im on call right now so hopefully I can do SOMETHING and get good with people!!
Tumblr media
So I have yet to do a formal confessional but let me just tell you my tribe is so cracked and I love it. I'm gonna give y'all my thoughts on the players of my tribe because why not. Ok so first off we have Julia. Julia is so cracked but I LOVE HER. She is the good luck charm of the tribe because she is involved in witchcraft and honestly I find that hilarious. Then we got Ali. He seems super sweet but I have yet to get to know him well. I think he has been in the tumblr community for a while but I'm not sure because im not in that community (whoops). Jason and I have meshed pretty well together over the love for the cowboy emoji, Madeleine seems like an easy number for me, and same for Jared. I think if we ever go to tribal I might try to connect us three with Benji who I also think I can trust really well. Then we have Ian and Noah. Honestly my conversations with them have been pretty awkward??? Idk if that is just because they are busy but like I don't rly mesh well with either of them. Then there is Michael who literally talks like his username: A Big Blue Robot
Tumblr media
someone literally said they were worried that me being so into astrology would influence how i viewed other people and i told them that it wouldn't but the tea is it will, try to stop me
Tumblr media
Heya its me. Rookie here on survivor Montenegro. Never played before. Kinda nervous. I'm trying to keep it light and airy with my chats with all the tribe members, because I don't want them thinking I'm trying to create drama too early. They seeeeem to like me and I think I really like them too. Evan kinda has latched on to me, and I like having an easy go to for talking shoppe, but he's super paranoid and thinks he has no shot at this. Even said that everyone else is fully bonding without him. And thats fine of course, I can handle supporting him especially if it seems like a surprise friendship, but his scaredyness might be rubbing off because its making me a little afraid that people are talking shoppe much more than they're letting on with me. Alsooo, low key a tiny bit annoyed with how much we love to call. Like y'all are nice but it seems to be the same person (eyooop) every time and the same person talking in the tribe chat. hehe peace out
Tumblr media
hi okie i would've filmed a video confessional, but i look DISGUSTING so you will have to settle with type type typing!
so lots is happening REAL fast and my head hurts so i need to talk it out. We won reward which WOO, and the reuben sandwich also gave me 3 free checks for bridge steps for the idol so GOOD NEWS. I also used it to build trust with Benj & Julia, and told Jared who kind of put me on the spot and asked me about it (more on Jared later).
So I now have my chart to map idol progress titled 'Bridge to Terebeth-idol' and I'm using all the info I get to slowly get an idea of idol progress, the idol is MINE and I'm determined to play it WRONG. otherwise, I'd love to see Benj or Julia get it, love 'em both.
Anywhomst back to Jared. he is VERY forward with game stuff and is like... going 0 to 100 waay too quick, and its making me and Benj nervous. We are both going to keep an eye, I could see Jared burning out quite quick akdlfas. For the rest of the tribe, I really really like Jason he is such a king, Madeline is super nice but I think quite quiet so could potentially go if we lose. Michael is great at challenges, but his social game is a bit ahh (he like.. told Julia she would be a target for making a mistake in the challenge akjsdfaslfladfjla). Noah I really like, but we are kinda out of sync with timezones which is no good. Mitch filled in for me in teh challenge so I owe him bigtime.
ANYWAYS. this is already waay too long, the summary is WOO JULIA AND BENJ, woo (at a slightly lower volume) for Jason and Jared. Love the hosts, loving this game so far, only thing I'm not loving is sandwiches (unless they are reuben sandwiches asjdklfa).
Tumblr media
Okay so little recap of the first night on Montenegro Durmitor Beach.... I really felt worried! Like from the first impressions and the intro's I thought okay i have nothing in common with any of these people, this is going to be so hard to get in a safe spot and go far in this game!
After jumping on call with the likes of Jules, Jones, JJ and Mo I felt a little bit safe as they were laughing at some of my jokes and i felt like i could contribute to the conversation which is nice. I really tried my best in this sandwich stacker challenge to show the tribe that i can perform in flash games and help win immunities for future rounds so it gave them a reason to keep me and potentially the stronger players on the tribe would want to add me to an alliance...well i mean that didnt happen but hey who knows its only day 2
So i recognised that JJ was from Tengaged and i had played with him a little bit whilst on that site so i tried to connect with him and make conversation with him and that dramatic little boy decided to drop his vocabulary and use his silly little boy one word responses which wasnt very uhm reassuring. HOWEVER I feel like over the past 2 days JJ and I have formed some sort of bond and i believe its mutual that we want to work together and help each other out in this game. MY ONLY CONCERN about working with JJ is that I dont want to be seen as in a duo with him so him and me need to stop bullying each other on calls and staying on tribe calls when no one else is on them. He helped me out in the idol hunt as well so he is already giving me some information showing he is down to work with me
Okay so overall i feel like my tribe is full of very big personalities and thats concerning a fight will be had for majority i reckon.
Jules: She is so nice, and we connect pretty good, i know she is one bad ass game player though and definitely a threat down the line so keeping her on my side is beneficial for now and hopefully if she does become seen as a target i can use that to my advantage and she can be a meat shield.
Mo: Mo is cool and chill to talk to, we dont really speak that much on pms however i want that to change i get a very loyal vibe from him so yeah something i am willing to explore
Willow & Evan: They both have similar standings with me in this tribe, i feel like they both want to work with me, Evan has said he does and that he gets a good vibe and wants to work with me which is good and i feel like willow is also leaning towards that as well. The only issue with working with these two is they arent very big personalities so i will be targeted before them however i feel like they could be very loyal. Its going to be hard to integrate them into a large alliance unless one of them start because others will be closer to people that isnt them.
Alex: So Alex is a weird one for me, he seems super emotional and honestly someone i just cant really relate to or connect with. I may be wrong but thats my first impression of him, he seems to be all up in Jules/Jones grill which is something i will have to keep an eye out for.
Jones: Jones is a big big big big threat i think everyone on this tribe can already tell this woman will be hard to get out, socially she is impressive and she said she is pretty good at challenges as well so........i'm just going to try and act really dumb around her and make her believe that im willing to work with her till the end as a loyal sheep. However for now i would like to work with her (even though probably everyone does)
David: Well i mean he is like not active very much, he came on call and i have a fear of drag people and he is a drag people so i hope he doesnt rock up to tribal in drag because it is a serious phobia..... wouldnt mind if he went first just because we dont really talk!
JJ: already spoke about him
Caeleb: Everyone is very nice in this cast but i feel like caeleb is a little bit uhh reserved, i feel like hes a little shy at the moment but i think he can be a gem to work and play with. Idk what type of player any of these people are so just gotta test the waters.
All i know is that this tribe is ready to play....and play hard so survivors ready: game on bitches! #STAYLOWANDGOGOGO

Oh wow this twisty twist twist, hate it!! So anyway now that we have to go to tribal Idk who the heckie to choose to vote! The only people I feel like I have absolutely no connection with so far are Evan and Caeleb, everyone else ive at least talked to a bit?? Jules is cool (also havent talked to her that much) Mo and Jones are the people ive talked to the most so far and I really wanna work with them I think, we will see DREW YOU HAVE MESSED ME UP

This twist is very fiendish and I love and hate it!! More stress ensuing the more fun for drew hmmm
Anyway, right now I want Madeline gone. I feel she’s not putting her all into this game and in the challenges. Plus she told me she was a returnee but the wiki says otherwise grrrr
For now I think I’m gonna work with Julia and Jason. Might also wanna work with Benji and Ali. Ali is very intuitive because he noticed that it’s important to keep any voting plans under wraps because if word got out of the plan and we’re not actually going to trial, oh hell will be loose!!
So far Julia and Jared are eyeing Madeline as a target and I am here for it! She may have sealed her fate by like going to sleep at this hour but let’s see! She might be faking it lol
Tumblr media
Okay fuck you guys for this twist my anxiety is running RAMPANT I know everyone is gonna wanna Vote me for being the youngest I hope you all die and literally choke on your own liver. Anyways my day has been GREAT, thanks for asking!! I feel confident with my comp performance, so hopefully they choose to keep me in?? If not it was nice knowing you guys except Johnny
Tumblr media
Oh this- this is terrible. I did so bad on my sandwich tray thing even though at the time I was like IM FUCKIN SPEEDY GONZALEZ WERE GONNA WIN and I scored like 48 but then I find out that everyone else scored somewhere in the 90’s and now it’s just kinda... fuck.

Blind Tribals? What kind of tomfoolery is this. Im surprised my tribe came up with a consensus of voting off someone this early even though we still have a full 24 hours. I was fully prepared to take charge but I guess I don't have to anymore.

So everything has been like a legit clusterfuck and I see this tribes dynamic starting to play out. I think socially I have done my job and excelled. I would say I feel as if I have established a good personal relationship with most of my tribe members except two of them- Madeleine and Michael. Both of them talk very little and it's honestly very frustrating for myself. Not to mention Michael last night sketched me out very bad after we had finished playing the role call part of the immunity. So I had found an error that I had made, and it scared me and I thought I could talk to him about it. I was like, well I hope this doesn't put a target on my back. He responds with this: we can make sure you won't be. will just take some work. Hold the damn phone. It will take some work? Why would it take work period? It just freaked me out so I went to Jason and I told him about it. Jason made me feel more comfortable and I decided to tell him that I trusted him and I was on board with him. So after immunity is done, and the whole blind round twist is revealed I decided to go and talk to basically everyone on the tribe. But Jared stuck out the most to me. He is playing the most aggressive game at this point which I respect. Also, forgot to mention, I trust Ali the most. 100% Ali will be my ride or die person this game. So nothing will come in between the bond we share. Jared decided to throw out Madeleines name out. And I am totally okay with this. He also subtly hinted that Michael would be a good option. But lets be real, I am not a fool and I will not make a big move this first round. This is a tribe of 10 people, not 6 like I'm used too in my prior TS I have played. It is more difficult to rally all the numbers. So this would be the exact reasoning behind my social game I am playing at the moment. I have Jared than tell me he wants to work with Ali, Benj, Himself, and I. This, I can enjoy. I don't have to struggle to protect from this alliance I knew Jared was bound to create, and I didn't have to suggest to include Ali, possibly exposing my relationship with Ali to Jared. On the other hand, I have Ian and Jason who I feel like I can trust in this game. I proposed to Ian I would not vote him out this round, and he said he would do the same for me. I tell Ian that I trusted Jared and we could possibly work with him, and that Madeleines name is being thrown out as the vote. Ian was vague with answering me about working with Jared which sussed me out. But Ian later tells me he wants to work with Jason, Himself and I. So this puts me in TWO potential alliances already in this game. Literally fuck this twist. I am glad my social skills have finally paid off and I am seriously learning from prior mistakes I have made in my orgs from being too abrasive, being too loud, being rude. I had such little self awareness of the way I communicated with people. I would talk and be this extremely social girl but I always left a bitter taste in people's mouth because of how I said things and I had no clue. So I am playing this better game and it is totally opening up new opportunities and all these people I can work with but on the other hand, puts me at a serious disadvantage. If this tribe will be an ultimate flop tribe which I am seriously hoping is NOT the case, I am going to disappoint someone. And that is how you become a target and lose all the hard work you have built up. So even though socially I am totally preforming beautifully compared to my prior three tries at TS, and strategically I wouldn't say anything about that I mean.... it's the first few days of this game. I would say competition wise, or the more physical part of the game I need to get it together. I'm hoping I can motivate this tribe into playing extremely hard for the immunity wins because who freaking knows what could happen? In the best case scenario, I would love for immunity to be brought to my tribe. This would mean that for the next round the target would probably remain the same, and I don't have to get so worked up about who is the new target of the tribe.
Tumblr media

Editors note - I think I’m 80% sure my name’s not going around Bc I think everyone’s under the impression I got us the win for the flag making? Big shrug
Tumblr media
Damn this twist has really screwed things. At this point in the game I have some strong (I think) alliances. I'm worried that I have put a target on my back for playing too hard though, and it might be all for not if we find out we won immunity.

Tumblr media
What the fuck is this twist like okay sure, tumblr survivor is generally fucking stressful like a pig getting choked im always trying to gasp for air.....this season i am the pig on the spit roast just deceased. I'm a nocturnal pig throughout this game i guess because tribal planning starts like 6 hours ish before tribal and the last 2 hours is the most important and that would be from 4-10am so no sleep for the weak i came to win
Tumblr media

SO I think at the moment my closest allies are Tom & JJ which is a relief because I was intimidated by the two of them at first. The plan for now is to vote for David due to him being the most antisocial out of the bunch. He’s talked to me quite a bit actually but apparently he hasn’t talked to some of the others that much.
Tumblr media
The first few days of this game has been really fun. I'm enjoying to get to know everybody, and just dicking off on tribe calls all the time. So far I've really enjoyed looking at Tom & Alex, they're definitely the tribal eye candy.
It seems as though I've gotten myself into a really cute alliance consisting of Alex, Jones, and Jules. A group I've definitely enjoyed talking to the most. I think it'll really work in my favor.
Tom is really fun to talk to, he's giving me truthful information on what planks have been good and bad in the idol search. Which is nice, but it might be a cultural thing, but I can't tell if he likes me or not!?? There's too much sarcasm in his voice.
Mo & Caeleb are really nice, they've both talked to me on a pretty shallow level so far, but I'm enjoying them a lot.
Evan, David, and Willow have been fairly MIA. Evan is on a vacation, so I'm impressed by how much he truly has been able to contribute to the tribe.
As far as the vote goes, I'm debating between Willow, and David. Alex, who I'd really like to work with, really is pushing for David to go home, but David is better at comps, and a less dangerous social player, he hasn't talked to anyone. Whereas Willow is being a social butterfly in everyone's PMs. Seeing that she made runner up in one of her seasons is also a little bit scary.
This twist is scary, but considering my last ORG, its exciting. I felt like my downfall was not being able to forge game relationships with people because I was the last person to attend tribal. Winning every tribal immunity all the way up to the final 13 / 21. Once the merge hit, every time I tried to talk strategy, the person I was talking with would run, and tattle to the person I was trying to target instead of listening to what I was saying, because they had forged game relationships at prior tribal. Being forced to go to tribal regardless of the outcome of immunity should help me solidify game relationships much easier.
Tumblr media
I have one question for the twist. WTF DREW???
Tumblr media
Right as we found out that both tribes had to go to tribal, Evan was immediately concerned that his name was being thrown out. The boy needs to calm, but I think our connection is really strong and honestly he's fun to talk to. Today though, most people I have been talking to have said David which is perfectly fine, he barely had talked to me at all so I am happy to be a tribe player and vote him tonight if nothing changes. I think people are starting to make connections all around. I really like Willow and have like an on and off thing with Mo and Jules. Tom is the first person to let me in on the vote, and JJ said he'd work with me and not vote me tonight, BUT Tom and JJ and Jones are always in the calls and that's making me nervous they'll have a longterm close bond that could be disastrous if it turns into a Monica, Jervase, Tyson type thing. Also I don't fully trust JJ he's good at talking to everyone. I have my eyes and ears open and I'm just trying to get as much information as I can at this point in the game.
Tumblr media
okay I have thoughts and they are 100% NEGATIVE.
so dua lipa cave can CHOKE, i hate this twist so muchhhhh, its gonna give me an aneurysm. I just feel bad, I don't like voting people out and this makes the process so weird and awkward.
Okay like tonight, Madeline is... seemingly going home? And I'm so so sad, she is super sweet, but I think everyone was reluctant to throw out names except Jared who was super, super gung ho about Madeline leaving? Jared is stressing me out akjsldfaf, he is so forward and aggressive as a player, and I can kind of see him burning out and dragging me down with him asdfklaf.
Otherwise, I'm really liking working with Julia, she is super fun and a really savvy player, I hope our alliance can do super good long term! Otherwise, Benj is SUCH A KING, he is so friendly and fun, and we are like really on the same page for game stuff? Those are the only two who its not negotiable, on my watch they are going NOWHERE.
for the rest? I really like Jason, he is just super mellow, like I think if I had to make a winner pick for the season, I'd probably say him? I vibe with him on a personal level woo, could be an ally down the line. Michael I tbh expected to maybe be first boot, but he seems to have unexpected connections! I really like him tho, he is super sweet, its no biggie that he is staying? Mitch/Ian kind of fall into the same category, I really like them but I've not spoken to them... all that much, but I really like them!! Noah I really haven't spoken to too much, and if we do go to tribal tonight, I'd probs want him to go next (Mitch also threw his name out for this round, so it seems I'm not alone on that?).
I feel REALLY REALLY bad about Madeline JKLSADFLSAJFA, like already our tribe is being meninist we do not stan, but also she is so nice. I feel bad and kind of blame Jared for her going grrrr.
Okay I'm gonna wrap this up, hope we don't go to tribal tonight, Madeline stays and we WIN till merge WOO WOO WOOOOOO!
omg also julia is already at #46 for the idol her MIND! i hope she gets it, that'd be iconic. I feel like she must be working with someone to get that far already, maybe Jason? like the host, i need to (nancy) drew and investigate

Lol idk where this girl came from but Madeline’s a mess.
She vanished after the twist reveal because her “WiFi getting shit down” then suddenly she’s strong arming me to vote Mitch
Sweaty, compared to you I’ve actually interacted with Mitch over the course of this 4 days unlike you.
She claims she’s got Julia, Jason and Noah but I know where they’re really at. If we are going to tribal Madeline’s gone!!
Tumblr media
okay tribal is (maybe?) in 6 minutes and I have THOUGHTS:
1. Madeline is make me so nervous, she like says things in the tribe chat and its like AHH idk how to respond, I'm being so obviously shady and its INCREDIBLY clear I voted for her, but idk what to do or say asdkjflsafafjdaf
2. Benj is a king, we are like... on the same page a lot, and someone I wanna go super far with!
3. Madeline gunning for Mitch is weird because... she is targetting him for past placements, when... Ian literally made FTC twice akjsdfslafsa like wut? Also I am screaming at her like saying Mitch isn't denying that she is going home in the tribechat, when she is voting him? I'MMMMMM
4. If I go home, it's been super super fun, and first boot is a cute placement! Benj  & Jason have both been first boot before, and I love 'em both, so am joining a great club!

“Dope A-F” - 4th of July, and Dealing With Grief - “6/28-7/9″
We are going to do it baybees! I can't let you down! I have to get caught up. I am 13 shows away from being caught up. I got this. I can do it. I don’t want to do it, but I have to. So let’s go
6/28
Tonight was going to be Buskey. Last month was super fun, so I was stoked for this one. I get there early and record a new episode of The Winstmas Games. I had Carlton K and Jack Gerow vs Will Minor and Kate Carroll. It was a short but fun episode. I need to get in the rhythm of recording more.
This was a super good lineup. It had Dylan, Beswick, Anthony, Nick Deez, Liz Carr, Alida Harper, myself and Carlton was hosting. It was board game night again so there was already a pretty good crowd in there.
The pre show hang was great and the crowd just got even bigger. The coolest part is I had four friends from high school come out. Honestly it meant so much to see them. I wanted to impress them to show them this side gig was for real. My friends Porter, T-Bone, Abby, and Matthew were all there.
The show started and I was up third. The show was going pretty well. The crowd was into it. When it was my turn to go up there was one group in the back still playing board games and I did a little crowd work with them and I guessed correctly that they were playing Monopoly. This got a huge laugh. I then went into my Monopoly bit that I haven’t done in ages. This hit really hard as well. I then did the rest of my material and even talked about dad a bit. I did pretty well and I’d give it an A-
The rest of the show was awesome. Dylan had a really good set as well. His material was hitting and he willed that audience to enjoy him. Beswick did well, and so did Alida. Nick had a fine set, and so did Liz. Anthony had a great closing set. I knew he wouldn’t be happy with it because the room was so rowdy by that point that he didn’t get to just do his material, but he reigned in the crowd. He had to handle a bunch of hecklers including a woman on a date with Carlton’s dad in the back of the room who was yelling at the people playing board games. She thought she was helping but she was awful.  I then had my friends come and talk to me about the show. They really enjoyed it and it made me feel good that I am doing the right thting.
I then hung with a few comics after and then went home. I needed to rest. It was a long, but fun day.
6/29
My summer break started today. I drove to Lynchburg to go to a coworker’s wedding. No shows this day, but I probably had the best time at this wedding. I haven’t had this much fun at a wedding in forever. I drank a little, and I danced some. The food and service was amazing. Also it was dope to just get to hang with my work friends. I had to leave a little early because I didn’t want mom to be alone at home. So I went home and passed out. This was a truly great day/
6/30
Today was chill as well. Only thing I had planned was substitute teaching in Patrick Buhse’s standup class with Francesca Lyn. Then I was just planning on hanging out with my family a bit before doing an open mic.
I honestly had an absolutely wonderful time teaching the class. This class was on punchlines. But honestly it just turned into them asking Fran and I questions for the first hour and then us going over punchlines for the second.
It was so interesting having them ask questions that seem like second nature to me. They’d ask questions like, what is a setup, what is a premise, what is a punchline, how do I make this funny, and stuff like that.
They were a super nice group of people and they all had some funny ideas. Hopefully they’re able to continue to work in that class and channel it into something super positive and funny. It was neat being able to punch up their premises to end the class.
I then went to my brother’s and had dinner, and played with my niece. He cooked the meal that was sent through the mail to me by Keaton Ray. It was it was delicious. After dinner I headed over to Thirsty’s hosted by Carsen Young.
I get there right before showtime and I get to go up third. The first couple of people did ok, but honesty not a huge crowd. There was a weird heckler during Jameson’s set, but all in all nice people.
I went up and just tried some stuff. I got a good response. For that room it felt like killing. I got to do some dad stuff that worked really well. It was the type of people that really appreciate that kind of stuff.  I’d give the set a B. I left immediately afterwards feeling really good about myself. I slept pretty well that night. I felt pretty good about it.
7/1
Today I didn’t do much other than go to The Southern. I got to chill with a bunch of my friends. There was a pretty good crowd here tonight. It was Shawn’s first time bartending for comedy as well.
I get to tell Keaton and Meredith thank you for the food.I get to catch up with Chris, and Paige as well. Most of my friends are there and it is a packed room. I was ready for this show. I was up 7th.
The crowd was a little tight, but honestly fun. Everybody did ok. I don’t remember what material I did. I know I did some new dad stuff that did ok, but I also tried some older stuff that I had dropped. I did ok and would give this set a B.  I had one of the better sets of the night, and honestly it was the type of crowd that if I did old stuff it probably would have killed.
Honestly it was just nice to see everybody. Nothing crazy happened, and I actually left a little early to try and get to another show. I didn’t end up getting to go up there I just went to my brother’s. I just didn’t want to be at home alone, and we were both having a tough time.
7/2
Tonight was pretty relaxed. I had a couple of mics to hit, and I had gotten to spend the whole day relaxing and watching tv which was nice. The first set of the night was at Mojo’s hosted by Patrick Buhse.
I get to the show and find out it is the bartender Keara’s last shift. So she was going to do a set at the end of the night. She’s pretty dope and will definitely be missed behind the bar during comedy nights.
The list for comics was not very large and I was set to go up first. I wanted to so I could head over to Fallout afterwards which was being hosted. by Ben Braman.  There isn’t a huge crowd at all, and the list is only like 11 people. So it was going to be a quick night.
Buhse goes up and does maybe one joke before bringing me up. I bombed my dick off. IT didn’t feel good. I did some dad material and it bombed super hard. I got a few chuckles but overall it felt horrible. I couldn’t connect and stumbled on a few jokes.  I’d give this set a D-. After me was Ry Mather and I asked if he wanted to ride with me to Fallout and I’d drive him back. He agree. After his set we closed out and dipped.
We got to Fallout and the list was even shorter than Mojos. Shelby was behind the bar as usual and I was set to go up first. There was only about 6 comics so we decide to hang and watch the whole show, and I decide to get wings after.
I go up and have a really fun set. I was super stoke to follow up Mojos with that. The dad stuff worked better, and I riffed some other ideas. I need to go back and listen again because there was some things that I could definitely use again. I had a heckler who was a nurse and I was able to get some good laughs from the small crowd by messing with her.  I’d give this set a B.
After my set I stayed and watched the rest go up. Carlton K, Ry, and a few others. All in all it was a fun show even if not everyone did super well.  I drove Ry back to his car at Fallout and then headed home.  I had a couple of shows to do the next night and I wanted to play some video games so I went home and games until I passed out.
7/3
The next day I was at the Funny Bone doing the best of RVA showcase. I was added at the last minute. It was going to be me Dylan, Jaye, James Lawson, and Remo Millz. I was up first after Remo.
Remo went up and did ok. He tried to crack them, but the crowd just wasn’t that into it. I went up next and just felt awful during my set. It was my first set in that club since dad passed away and I just wasn’t feeling it at all. I did some crowd work, and started with the wrong bit. I couldn’t build momentum. There would be pops and lulls, but honestly it was a long 20 minutes and I was very unhappy with it. I'd give it a D+. I just struggle to do what I want on that stage. I have no idea why I am so scared, but I will work on it.
After my set I headed down to Cary Town to do Home Sweet Home. There was a guest host and I get there and the guest host is just Kusterer anyway. It was a good gag. The crowd was actually pretty hot. I got there and Bryan Williams was on stage doing very well.
I was up in a few so I went downstairs and hung out and caught up with my friends. We had a fun time just joking and busting balls. Stella was there, and so was Beswick (who I was up after). It wasn’t a crazy long list, but a definite good hang. I also got to catch up to and talk to Jesse Pearlstein for the first time in a while which was nice.
Beswick went up and had a super fun set. He handled a heckler and connected immediately with his energy. I love that dude. He was killing. I had to follow it and I went up and had an ok one. I did a lot of dad stuff, and I think it was more off putting than anything. I think this has to do with the fact I wasn’t in the best mood. I got a few good laughs, and honestly it was a much better set than the Funny Bone. I’d give this set a C+/B-. But it was a better way to end the night.
I went to leave and Dylan and I both walked to our cars. We talked comedy and caught up with each other for about another 30 minutes outside. It was really fun, and nice to talk comedy with a dude I respect so much. After saying goodbye I headed home and passed out.
7/4
I took off the next day and spent the entire day with my family at my grandma’s for the 4th. I really needed it. I played video games during the day and just joked around and ate food with everybody. It was a super wonderful day.
Holiday’s are going to be incredibly hard. My father loved holidays. He loved giving gifts, and he loved family. It was hard to not think of him the entire day, and it stirred up so many amazing, yet emotional memories. I am glad I have the family I do, and that I could be there with mom, but I know this is going to be a very long trial and I am not looking forward to my birthday next week.
7/5
I played video games and relaxed all day before heading to Petersburg to do Wabi Sabi. I asked to be on this show so I could hurry up and cancel my fear of the room. The last time I was here I got the message my dad was sick and on the way to the hospital. I didn’t want to have a mental block in one of my favorite rooms so I made sure I got in there as soon as possible.
When I got there Carlton Kotalo was doing some impromptu head shots with Kenny and Klingman. We had a blast busting balls and taking pictures. He got some really good ones of everybody and I got some fun one’s on my phone as well.
As we got closer to showtime I was ready to do it. I was chomping at the bit and I was up second after Carlton did a quick set. Klingman went up and had a fine set. He lost track of time and did like 25 minutes but that was ok. Two people had bailed on the show so we needed to fill the time anyway.
Carlton went up next and he did ok. He got some laughs and then it was my turn. I went up and had a hot one. I was able to crack them and did only crowd work for about 18 minutes. I was going in and calling back. It was three girl’s birthdays so I played off of that. One was on a date and didn’t know it, and that was amazing. Honestly one of the best sets I’ve had there in a while. I was on fire and I’d give it an A.
After me was James and he destroyed. He followed my energy and his material was working. He did about 12 and it was straight fire. Unstoppable on stage. Then some people got al little rowdy when Wingle went up. He did some crowd work, but he mostly just had to do crowd control because of how loud the side room got. I felt bad for him because he was doing well with the room, but it was hard to hear due to the damn noise from the other side of the bar.
Then we went up and did sex with me is like. I usually hate this. Wingle gave me some advice. He told me to heat check myself and just say anything that popped in my head. He was super complimentary and it meant a lot to me. I listened to him and had the best set of sex with me is like I have ever had. Everything hit and I had some absolutely huge laughs. We ended on a good one and chilled for a bit.
I had a bunch of people add me on IG which was fun, and I also had a good hang after. I chilled and talked to some of the audience members and watched Lawson get his headshots taken before I headed home. I had a long day ahead of me the next day.
7/6
I drove up to DC and took the metro in. I was going to try and get three sets in and I hadn’t been in town for over a month. So I was ready to hit the ground running. I got to Comedy Club DC at Club Heaven and Hell and it is looking like it is going to be a super packed show. I get to meet some new comics and catch up with my good friend Mark Mensh. Tom Mango was there, but he had this comic Joc hosting.
Job went up and set the room up pretty well. He got some good pops and then he brought Mark up. Mark was able to connect throughout his set, and he closed pretty well. I could tell he wasn’t going to be happy with it, but he did a good job of building the momentum. Next up was this dude Quentin Hardy I know. He did ok too. I was in my own head during his set because I was up next.
After Quentin gets off stage Joc did a quick joke and brought me up. I just used all of my energy to will myself into an amazing set. It felt so good for 7 minutes to really do some crowd work, but also weave about 5 minutes of jokes in. Everything hit really hard and I felt like I had finally popped the crowd. I’d give this set an A. It felt so good.
I stuck around for a few more sets to just unwind and relax. Some people did pretty well, and I thanked Tom Mango for the time before I headed over to DC Drafthouse to do their open mic.
I got to Drafthouse and Dylan showed up. He was in town working the Improv lounge. I got to see and catch up with Martin Phillips as well which was fun. TJ and Chris showed up right before the show started. I got to talk to Matt Deakins as well which is always a blast, and can’t forget about Jose Sanchez.
The crowd inside was pretty light, but that was ok. Glenn Lawrence was hosting and he went up first and had a fine hosting set. He got people in the mood and the show got rolling. Dylan had a good set, and so did Chris. I went up and did ok. I didn’t love it. It was super mediocre. I tried some stuff that I shouldn’t have and I couldn’t get my rhythm right. I got laughs but it felt bad. I’d give it a C. After me was TJ and he couldn’t connect at all. They didn’t vibe with him, and when he got off it was time to go. We said our goodbyes and then headed to Big Hunt.
I got there and Andrew Cook was super kind to me and said some kind words about my dad. It meant a lot to know he was thinking of me. I was up 13th so I just used my time to catch up with some friends like Denis, and Naomi. David Tveite was there and so was Charlie Ross. The show was going great. Honestly everyone was doing awesome on the mic so I was ready to go up. As the night went on though they got drunker and rowdier.
TJ went up right before me and he had a rough one. They just weren’t into it at all. They were drunk, an it was after 1 am. When he got off stage like half of the crowd got up and left so I was brought up to a room that was emptying out. I felt horrible during my set, but I did the best that I could. There were three hecklers but they weren't being mean. People were on their phones. I did my set and got some laughs, and I closed pretty poorly. I don’t know. It just wasn’t my night. I’d give this set an F.  I don’t know how I could have done better, but still it felt so bad.
After this we all headed back to TJs. I grabbed some Mcdonald’s and it was super fun catching up with TJ and Chris. WE had a fun night talking and riffing. We also watched some Netflix before I passed the hell out.
7/7
Woke up the next day and got to just chill with Chris and TJ which was fun. Chris and I went to Freddy’s and grabbed some sandwiches. It was a really fun day, before I had to head up to Frederick, Maryland to do Cellar Door for the first time.
I drive up there and meet up with the other comics. Ryan Neser was hosting and he runs the room. It is a pretty dope setup. He tells me they have some cancellations so they are going to start a little late. I get to meet Kurt Ryan and Chris Hudson for the first time.
We have a good time talking comedy, and getting to know each other. We do this for a bit before the headliner Elliot Chang gets there. He is a super nice dude and joins right in with the hang which was awesome.
The show starts and everybody is doing pretty well. Ryan has a solid hosting set. He gets the crowd ready and then brings up Chris. Chris has a good set, and has some really good jokes. It was fun to watch him work. Then Kurt went up and got some really good pops. He is a good joke writer and they are both super nice dudes.
I went up and hated my set. I did about 22 minutes and it felt all over the place. I couldn’t connect right away. I’d got them going after that and got some big laughs. Then I’d lose them. Then I’d have to get them back. This went on and on for the entire set. The only problem is I lost them with the last bit. I did my Waffle House shooting bit and they weren’t into it. I’d give this set a C.
I got off stage and the other comics said it was good, but it did not feel good at all. I got to watch Elliott perform for a bit and he started out hot. I said my goodbyes and then drove 3.5 hours home. It was a long ride, but I got to reflect on my break and it was nice to have time to myself. I got home and passed out ready to be back at work.
7/8
Work was ok. It was super good to see my coworkers and my students. Afterwards I hung around town and relaxed before heading up to Charlottesville for The Southern.
There was a super light crowd this night. About 11 comics and maybe 8 audience members. They were into the show though. Chris went up and had a pretty good hosting set. During this time I went in the back and got some dates firmed up with the gm Danny.
I then came back out and watched the rest of the show. Everybody was doing ok and I was set to go up 8th. As the show goes on it is fun, but there isn’t a ton of energy. The people there dig it, but man there aren’t a lot of them.
I go up and have a very good set for the room. It is extremely productive. I riff and do a lot of new stuff. I get about one or two new jokes out of the set. Honestly could I have done better? Absolutely, but I don’t think I would have gotten as much out of my set if I had. It was awesome. I’d give it a B.
I watched the rest of the show and said my goodbyes. There was a girl there who does photography and she said she was going to come to the Winstmas Games and get some pics which will be dope if she follows through. After we talk I say bye to everybody and head to my car. Paige and I talk a bit and then I head home to pass out.
7/9
Today was hard. I had a good day at work, but I also had therapy. Therapy was cathartic and it was nice to catch him up with how I have been feeling about everything going on. It was a great session. Afterwards I met my mom at dad’s work.
Today was the day we were going to clean out his office. This was a very emotionally trying few hours. My father was a bit of a pack rat so we had a lot to go through. We found a lot of his awards, pictures, and knick knacks. I also found a Virginia Tech trunk that was just full of pens. That is right full of super nice pens. Literally like 1,000 nice pens. I will never have to buy another pen in my entire life.
After finally clearing it all out my mother and I kind of broke down a bit. The walking away and turning the light off in the office was so emotional. It felt real. Like I’d never see him again in his office when I’d randomly stop by. He’d never introduce me to his customers again and brag about his comedian son. Even as I type this right now I am tearing up thinking about this. It hurts like a bitch an always will.
My mom and I went to grab dinner at Ecotti in Goochland. It was a good meal and then we got gas and headed home. I unpacked the trunk and spent the rest of the night going through and testing all the pens and organizing the ones that still worked. I also decided to use the trunk as a comedy trunk. I went and rounded up all of the comedy posters and mementos I have from my time performing and put them in there. I know dad had a lot more of them, but I couldn’t find them. As we clean the house I will just keep adding to it. After this I watched some tv and had some junk food. I passed out pretty late. I knew it’d be hard to sleep, but I needed it,
THAT IS RIGHT I DID IT! I am caught up. I will never stop doing this blog (unless I quit comedy). This has been he toughest month of my life. It is starting to really sink in and I don’t really know what to do. Thank you all for following me. I will probably do a big write up about dad sometime next week. I want to really be able to honor him and what he did for me and my comedy. I love you all very much! Thank you for being you laydees!!! xoxo til next time.

I’ve been thinking about Voltron (never good) and Allura’s carousel of ships and I’ve got one question: What was the point of any of it?
I’m going to run through the ships and add some theories/rumors that have been talked about because since the show is over we’ll never know so why the fuck not.
Why don’t we start off with
Shallura
During Season 1 and 2, I feel everyone was with cool with Shallura. I mean they got dubbed the Space Parents (tired sigh). Heart and Head. There was a comparing them to a sword...it was chill. Tim Hedrik (Lead Writer and Story Editor) seemed to like the ship and wanted fan art of an unshown scene of Shiro and Allura bathing the mice together), Eugene Lee (Episode Director and Storyboard Artist) compared them to Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask (I remember this one distinctly because I was geeking out about it at the time). Kim Brooks and Josh Keaton (the VAs) seemed to be cool with it. Kim said she supported it and everyone went about their merry way.
Until LM and JDS opened their mouths. JDS said, something to the effect of, Allura was just acting as an teenager would.” Huh?
Before this point people had thought Allura was an adult (I mean by the way they wrote her she seemed older and more mature than the rest of the Paladins. And they certainly had no problems fencing her off from the rest of group (the first trip to space mall still makes me angry) no one really questioned it. I mean they did question it a little bit because everyone was curious about the ages of everyone. LM AND JDS were odd about the ages since the start and when the Handbook came out Allura’s was the only one not listed (I mean we all agreed that Coran was the adult-adult of the group).
Honestly I feel bad for the VAs that probably got hit with so many curveballs and then THEY had to smooth it out with fans at Cons. That is super rough.
Anyways chaos ensues because Shiro who was (at one point also said to be a teen?) is now confirmed to be a 25 year old.
Given Lance’s canon crush Allura that put Klancers up in arms and painted a shiny target on Allura’s back. Allura’s tag is in shambles (and has never quite recovered).
Now according the rumor mill, JDS wanted Allura to be with Lance so she got Piotr Rasputin’d (he got aged down because one of the Marvel writers wanted Kitty Pryde and Piotr together). So to kill the ship (can’t have a teen and 25 yr being all intimate on a kid show) and to get rid of Shiro (Lord love Shiro because neither LM or JDS did or do) they killed him off….until DreamWorks was apparently like, uhhhh no bring him back. Thus the creation of Kuron (then they tried to kill Shiro again via Kuron but DW was like NO, HE STAYS). Apparently there was also a writing staff change up? Who knows.
So yeah, that was the long and short of Shallura.
But then things get odd(er)
Mattura
Voltron and it’s inability to keep anything consistent has Matt (who HAS to be the same age or at least slightly younger than Shiro given that they were both on the Kerberos Mission with Sam Holt) starts flirting with/complimenting Allura. UHHHHH WUT? LM AND JDS (and their latest batch of co-workers) seem to love playing by their own rules because no one know what goes on and things get choppy and confusing. Why is a (theoretical, because we’ll never officially know) non teen flirting with Allura?
I think it’s by this time in the show’s life we figure out that LM AND JDS hate confirming things unless it wins them brownie/woke points. They just let things happen and only address it when their hands are forced. Like Shiro’s sexuality, It was at SDCC 2018 where they said Shiro was sexuality was open-ended. They said that he was definitely in a relationship with a man (Adam) but according to LM, they didn’t want to put anyone in a corner and wanted the fans to see it how they wanted to see him (time mark: 1:16).
It was a vague but diplomatic answer (rare) to a vitriolic fandom and then somehow it got changed to Shiro was strictly gay? I mean, I’ve always headcanonned him to be Bi since S1 (and honestly I’m kind of hesitant to admit that because ya’ll will call anyone homophobic/drag them through the mud for having a differing view. RIP me I guess).
Okay but back to the topic at hand, sorry for that mini tangent.
Voltron writers (past and then present) never seemed to talk to one another because easy inconsistencies in writing can be avoided if you have an actual game plan. Oh and time, I still can’t believe all this happened in the span of 2 years, looking back it makes a lot of sense.
Lotura
Lotor has been described by LM and JDS as a space alien vampire and according to the writing he has been awake for those 10,000 years unlike Allura. They have been cool with the ship. VA AJ Locascio has been the ship’s captain and Kim Brooks has entertained the idea. There was even a part of a panel where Kim, Josh and AJ were joking about who would Allura would pick thus throwing everyone into confusion again.
Anyways it seems that Allura seemed to really like Lotor and felt comfortable with him. He seemed to reciprocate but it was always overshadowed but the veil of mistrust. In the end like most things in Voltron it didn’t matter because the ship got tanked unceremoniously by the writing.
Kallura and Allurance
LM has been adamant about VLD going it’s own path (yeah okay) and said that they weren’t doing the Original pairing (from GoLion/etc). Did that stop the shipper goggles? Does it ever lol? People were pissed that it didn’t happen.
In the end Allurance happened but then it got killed off when Allura died so does it really count? I feel bad for the Allurance shippers ya’ll won but at what cost? While I’ve never hated Allurance (I found that they had their moments) it feels like a “fuck you“ band aid of sorts.
As does the whole ending/epilogue but that’s another story.
TL;DR
So why am I writing this? I guess it’s because I’m confused and frustrated and sad. Both LM and JDS said that romance wasn’t a thing on VLD so why include hints at all? Especially with Allura if they were just going to kill her off anyway?
Black girls almost never get chosen as romantic interests in active/growing franchises and it seems like Allura was just a magically convenient swing door. Was she desired and admired? Yes. But was she loved? I guess, but not the way I think she needed to be.
Why do I say this? Well when she was giving herself up to save the universe. No one stopped her. No one even volunteered to go with her. For a show that was “all for one, one for all” they just left her hanging. The writers (and LM/DreamWorks) thought that one was enough. As always the black/brown sacrifices everything for the betterment of everyone else. It’s a old tired trope. One I’m used to unfortunately, but not to the kids coming up. They are the ones who aren’t used to this type of thing. Their rare black/brown hero doesn’t get a happy ending and soon they will see this trope happen over and over again and they might come to think it is normal.
That’s atrocious.
I’m not going to lie, sometimes I still imagine that Allura was an adult. Not for ships but for the simple fact that I can’t stand the idea of a depressed and isolated teenager, a child who had barely begun to live and who has already had everything taken away from her, willing giving up their life for any reason.
Does me seeing Allura as an adult help somewhat quell the bitter sadness I feel? Yes but not really. My fave still got railroaded into a completely avoidable death. It’s still a punch to the gut but life goes on.
Allura, as evident in the writing, wasn’t a character after awhile. She was merely a a plot device waiting in the wings. A shiny sparkly bauble that entranced the viewer with her light.
Ironic, no?

2016 Year in REVIEW Part 2:
Hello there, everybody! My name is JoyofCrimeArt and this is part two of my two part "2016 Year in REVIEW. If you haven't seen part one yet I recommend that you do so before reading this part. So here's the link 2016 Year in REVIEW: Part 1 and let's just jump right back into it.
So last we left off Nickelodeon created a new show that is both critically loved and is doing strong in the ratings. Things are looking good for them, there back in peoples good graces, so what does Nickelodeon do next? Admit that everything they've done for the last decade in a half has sucked and goes full 90's kid on us of course! Screw everything we've made since "Rocket Power" THE 90'S WHERE ALL THAT, SON! NICKELODEON WAS A MISTAKE!  Yes, right as summer was starting to roll around Nickelodeon decided to go back to the days when people liked them with a plethora of reboots and revivals. Cause why move forward, when you can move backwards, am I right? All jokes aside, the idea of reboots and revivals, as I've stated before, are not bad. But only if it's with a property that has potential with a continuation. or if the series can be done differently, with a unique spin to it. It's just that Nickelodeon announced so many so fast, that it feels like an act of desperation. Cartoon Network announced a lot of reboots too, but 1.) They didn't announce as many and 2.) They had shows on there network that had critical success while Nickelodeon has not. So it feels like there just trying to get that old success back. But whatever, it might feel a bit desperate but that doesn't mean the reboots and revivals will be bad. So let's go through all the stuff Nickelodeon has announced and see how it looks.  First Nickelodeon rebranded the "The 90's are all That." into "The Splat" which is a much catchier name, though not much other than that seemed to change. At first there were showing a lot of shows that weren't on "The 90's are all That." but now it just seems like it's the same stuff "The 90's are all That." use to show. Though now the block is much longer, so there's that. Not anything that really interest me, but I'm sure it interest some other people.  A "Legend of the Hidden Temple" movie was announced. I watched it, and I didn't really like it very much, though my older brother who did grow up with Legend of the Hidden Temple seemed to like it. I've never seen the original game show except for once or twice, so maybe it wasn't "for me." but a revival should be made for anybody to enjoy, not just old fans. The whole movie was pretty much just "Hey look, a purple parrot! Look, the steps of knowledge. Remember the steps of knowledge. I 'member." In terms of story and acting it was about on par with your average Nickelodeon original movie.  A two part "Hey Arnold! Jungle Movie." was announced, and while I've never seen Hey Arnold! I'm glad that they get to conclude the series, especially since the only reason it wasn't made was because of some weird legal reasons. Also a "Rocko's Modern Life" tv movie was announced and I'm just like, why? Is there more potential with this idea? Like I'm not saying the show is bad or anything, and I'm not saying that the tv movie will be bad. I'm just what can you really do with a modern day "Rocko's Modern Life?" I mean they could make fun of some modern things I guess, but I don't know. It just seems like there are better choices for shows to make specials out of.  What I am interested in is a "Ren and Stimpy" theatrical short, set to play before the third Spongebob Squarepants movie. I'm shocked they got John K. back after what happened between him and Nickelodeon. I think John K's style would work better in a short, so he'd have more time and budget to make it the way he wants to, and wouldn't have to worry about deadlines.  So yeah, it's kind a mixed bad with these revivals. Some of them sound cool. It just feels weird to me that Nickelodeon is just starting to be good again, but then they go through this midlife crisis and act like everything they did after 1999 was crap. Nickelodeon has made good shows after the nineties ended, and are even making some good shows now, so I don't see why they need to do this. I do wonder how successful these revivals will be though, as the "Hidden Temple" movie only did "okay" ratings wise. (Though they did post it on iTunes first, so maybe that was a factor.)  Anyway, speaking of reboots that people were actually excited about animation fans where greeted to a reboot that they were actually pumped for with Netlix's "Votron: Legendary Defender"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXW1waqRCb0
This show is a bit hard for me to talk about. I can definitely say that I recommended it, but I'm not one hundred percent sure I can say I loved it. What do I mean by that? Well I can say that the show has a lot of amazing elements. One, it's an action show through and through, which is kinda rare these days. It has a really great voice cast, featuring Jeremy Shada (Finn from Adventure Time) Kimberly Brooks (Jasper from Steven Universe) Josh Keaton (Spider-Man from Spectacular Spider-Man and Hal Jordan from Green Lantern TAS) Along with several other talented actors. The animation was also really good! It was a bit choppy at parts but for the most part it looked really good. The show was created by two people who worked on "Legend of Korra" and it shows in the art style and even the storytelling. (Cause let's all be real here, Hunk is pretty much just Bolin in space.) The story was told pretty well and overall it's a great show but...for some reason I could never really get that into it. And I don't know why! I mean sure I have some problems with the show. The villains where kinda bland, (except for Cree Summer's character, oh by the way she's in this.) A lot of the action was kinda repetitive, and there's a subplot with Pidge that, while interesting, didn't really serve much purpose. Also I wish we could of seen more locations other than just the castle and a couple other planets (but season two seems to promise that if the finale was any indication.) But still these are mostly nitpicks. So why don't I love this show like I thought I was going to?  I don't really have a answer for that. It's weird, cause I should love this show! But it never really connected much with me, and I don't know why. Maybe it was the generic villains making the threat not seem that dire, or maybe it was the somewhat repetitive nature of the show. I don't know, and it makes this show hard to talk about. Maybe It had something to do with the way I watched it, as I watched all eleven episodes over the course of three months. Maybe that's part of it, but I feel that if I enjoyed it more In would of wanted to watch the series much faster. Like how I binged Bojack Horseman over a couple of days. The Nostalgia Critic has a video about movies that are so good it's bad, [link] and that might be a bit of what's happening here, maybe? I don't know. I am going to check out season two. And I do suggest you watch it, as everyone else I hear talk about the show seems to love it, and it's probably just some problem that I have with it, that most likely won't effect what you guys. Check it out if it seems interesting to ya.  Anyway as May began to come to a close online production company Rooster Teeth produced the web show that we didn't ask for, but turns out we secretly needed, with RWBY CHIBI!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu6D5jR1rSQ
I'm going to just quickly talk about this because I do want to do a full review of both RWBY and RWBY Chibi at some point, so let's breeze through this. RWBY Chibi is a comedic spin-off of the RWBY webseries. It focuses on the more comedic aspects of the RWBY characters when there not off fighting monsters and bad guys. If this description sounds familiar to you it's because IT'S TEEN TITANS GO BUT GOOD!  The show is adorable, and really really charming. The show isn't perfect though. I first six or so episodes start off pretty meh, with some very repetitive jokes (specifically about Blake.) but as the season goes on they start adding more and more characters into the show, and they show begins to improve a lot. The more characters they add the more opportunity for jokes they create. And once they start adding the Chibi-fied versions on the villains, the show becomes God-tier. The animation on the show is also kinda bad. The models themselves look great but whenever a character isn't talking or doing something they just stand perfectly still, not blinking or moving any part of themselves for twenty to thirty seconds at a time. But this also improves a bit as the series goes on, and it's not like the main series where the animation is the big draw. Also sometimes the jokes can go on a bit long.  This series is great if your a RWBY fan, but sadly I do say that you do kinda have to be a RWBY fan because the series does spoil some stuff. Episode six and eight are really the only ones that spoils anything huge, but a lot of the jokes are in jokes and is better to see if you've the original show. You'll still get em without seeing the original, but there better if you've had. So go watch RWBY and RWBY Chibi damn it! They even had an entire episode that was just adapting RWBY fan comics! This show is so cool!  So after that amazingness happened more amazingness, Steven Universe came back with a Summer of Steven bringing us everything we wanted out of Steven Universe. More backstory on Gem Civilization! More Pearl being gay! More new Fusions! More Pearl being gay! More episodes focusing on the humans that everyone hated because it didn't give more backstory on the gems even though the episodes were still really fun and people should really just chill! More Lapis being salty as fu*k! And more Pearl being gay! We even got an new half hour episode where we meet an old Crystal Gem name Bismuth. An episode that got so divisive when debates broke out weather or not murdering all the homeworld gem is okay. And a smaller discussion on weather or not Avatar TLA finale was good or not. Okay, not really the last thing, but still. It got to the point when fans started attacking Lauren Zuke on twitter, even though SHE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE EPISODE! But that's what they get for trying to gemsplain towards Bismuth about morality. (For the record gemsplaing is like Mansplaing but with Gems.) Dumb jokes that'll make people hate me aside, it was the Summer of Steven was a blast, and a highlight for the whole year in the animation world.  But Roster Teeth animation wasn't done with just RWBY Chibi, as they made another new web series with there adult animated series, Camp Camp.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv5JfMDLgCU
Like Powerpuff Girls, this is a show I've already talked about before, PLUG! Camp Camp REVIEW: So I'll try to be brief. Camp Camp is a great web seires that manages to do a great job mimicking the art style of a PBS show, which hilariously contrasts the raunchy adult humor that the series offers. It does adult humor really well, and never fells like it's being raunchy just for the sake of being raunchy. As I said in my original review the show feels one half Total Drama Island and one half South Park, and the combination works. The show has a stellar voice cast that includes Yuri Lowenthal, Travis Willingham, and even Dante Basco in one episode. It's really a rather impressive production for a web series, and the shows only main flaw stems from a rather unlikable lead character, which does hinder the show quite a bit. Still though, it was a fun show all things considered and the speech in the final episode was a fantastic moment for the series that gave a powerful lesson about nihilism vs idealism. I don't want to give to much away but it's interesting to compare it to a lot of the adults shows out there like "Rick and Morty" and "Bojack Horseman" as it offers a bit of a different perspective on the issue. (Not that the way Rick and Morty and Bojack talk about these themes are bad per say, it's just neat to see a slightly different perspective.) Camp Camp is a show I highly recommend.  So Sanjay and Craig also ended this year. I never really watched the show, wasn't really my thing. Not much to say about it other than, it was event that happened this year.  Meanwhile back on Netflix Bojack Horseman aired it's third seasons. (WARNING! SPOILERS FOR BOJACK! SKIP THIS PART IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN UNSPOILED!) So this season follows Bojack trying to get the fame and aspiration he always dreamed of by being seen as a serious actor. He gets a girlfriend who helps him, they end up breaking up by the end of the season. The season starts with Bojack holding on to the development that he had from the previous season, but after realizing that the thing he though he wanted wasn't what he really wanted he ends up relapsing and goes on a binger, possibly scars his ex-crushes daughter, and ends with him learning that he has to be a better person, and is inspired by a runner.  Oh wait, that was the season two plot description. Here's the season three plot description. So this season follows Bojack trying to get the fame and aspiration he always dreamed of by being seen as a serious actor. Again. (Oh my God! This is a joke! Please don't kill me internet! I still like the show!) SPOILERS ARE NOW OVER!  Then, as yearly tradition, Cartoon Network played a new mini-series. Though I don't think people were as excited for this one as they were for some previous ones...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EMC9jnFAG4
(Love this show or hate it, you got to admit that the this theme song is pretty great! When was the last time we even had a minute long theme song?)  So Teen Titans Go! had a miniseries this year with a five part "Island Adventure." Though like "Long Live the Royal" it's not really a continuous story and more just a couple of episodes with a vague through line. The premise of the mini-series isn't a bad one. I like the "trapped on an island one." plot and there's lots of different stories you can tell with that plot, so Teen Titans Go! decided to simply do the plot five times, with each episode parodying a different island themed story. It was cool seeing a change of location for the Titans, as most episodes don't really have them leaving the Titan's Tower, so that was nice. But sadly the good idea was ruined by the fact that it's still Teen Titans Go! and it still had the Teen Titan Go! style of humor which, in my humble opinion, isn't really that good. It's definitely not the worse thing Teen Titan's Go! has done, but if you don't like TTG I don't think this miniseries will really sway you. Overall it was pretty meh. Though if you like TTG than you'll probably enjoy it fine.  Also, (spoilers, I guess?) the twist turns out that the whole time...It was really a hater bashing episode the whole time. Ha ha, what a twist- (Next thing please.)  Harvey Beaks was announced to end. I never really watched Harvey Beaks, though the couple of episodes I have seen kinda make me wish I did because the show seemed like it was pretty good. Nothing amazing, but the show looked good. So I'm kinda sad to see it go, because a lot of adult fans seemed to like it. It would of been a good show to pair with The Loud House I think, but sadly the numbers just didn't lead that way.  Also in BIG animation news for Cartoon Network it was announced that Adventure Time and Regular Show would be ending. Adventure Time still has two seasons to air before it ends and Regular Show is going to be ending in January. It's kinda a bittersweet feeling seeing these shows go. It's not really surprising to see these shows go, considering how Cartoon Network barely reruns them, but still. Adventure Time has been a bit rocky lately though I do think it still has some great episodes. Though these great episodes are becoming rarer as time goes on, so I guess it is good, from an artistic standpoint to see it go. As for Regular Show I think the show was pretty solid throughout. The newest season's been a bit of a dip (I'll get to that in a minute.) so I think, from an artistic standpoint, It's the perfect time to stop. That way the show will be looked back on fondly in the future.  And speaking of Regular Show the show went into SPPPAAAACCCCCEEEEE this year. Now for a little while my family was a cord cutting family, we have satellite now, but the last time I saw Regular Show before we cut the cord we where in an arc about Rigby going back to high school, and when we get satellite again there suddenly in space, and I'm just like "Yup! Okay, this is happening now!"  While I do admire them changing up the formula by sending them to space, I honestly don't love the change. Something that I really liked about Regular Show was the contrast. The episodes would start mundane but end up being fantastical. But now that there in space all the time it gets rid of the contrast cause it's weirdness on top of weirdness. But maybe it could work in a Steven Universe kinda way, where it's like an awesome space opera or something. Well it doesn't work that way either, because they still treat outer space like it's mundane, but it's not, it's space! They try to do both, and I get why they tried that, but It doesn't really work. Also they've been to space before! And where is party horse, everyone's least favorite character? He's in space, why isn't he here?  That being said, the show isn't awful or anything. There still are some good episodes, like "Terror Tales of the Park VI," "No Train No Gain," and especially "Christmas in Space." So let's hope Regular Show can go out with a bang. A BIG BANG! GET IT CAUSE SPACE! HAHA! (Kill me now!)  Anyway, at least Cartoon Network has made some shows to fill in those time slots because CN's made not one, but two cartoons this year. Powerpuff Girls 2016 and our next entry, Mighty Magiswords.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0pArLEicSM
Mighty Magiswords was based on a series on online digital shorts on the Cartoon Network app. I haven't seen these shorts, and thus will only be talking about the eleven minute series here. The show...honestly I'm not crazy about. It's not awful on anything, but I think it's just a personal preference. The main problem I have with the show is the pacing! Every character talks so frickin' fast, and the show throws so many jokes at you in such rapid succession that there's no time to process it. Also beyond that the show just doesn't seem that interesting. I don't know, I just feel like everything this show is doing was done better in like "Dave the Barbarian." (I think. Was Dave the Barbarian good? I liked it when I was, like, seven or eight. But I was also pretty dumb when I was seven or eight, and I've never really gone back to it.)  I mean the shows not awful or anything. I like the voice acting on the main two characters. Also Egoraptors in the show, and it's cool to see a guy like him make the jump from internet to television as an actual recurring character. That's pretty neat. But overall I wasn't really able to get that into this show. It just seemed very...average, y'know? But maybe if they slow the pace down a bit it could improve. I don't know, we'll have to wait and see.  Also Archer was announced to end after season ten, due to the creators choice. Wha-What the heck is going on! Why is 2016 the year that all celebrities and cartoons die?! Well, at least this means the show will actually have a conclusion, so that's nice.  Meanwhile, Disney XD aired there new show, "Milo's Murphy's Law" or as I call it "Phineas and Ferb: Weird Al Addition!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARTRJQfV90k
This show is pretty good, all things considered. It's basically what would happen if someone with Candace Flynn's luck and gave them Phineas Flynn's personality. The show is fairly entertaining and features Weird Al Yankovic in his first staring role in a cartoon, though the voice is a little jarring what with it being a 57 year old man voicing a thirteen year old. Did you know Weird Al was 57? Did he like, find the fountain of youth or something?  the show's main problem though is the fact that the humor is very reminiscent of Phineas and Ferb, so it kinda has trouble getting it's own kinda feel. If you liked the early seasons of Phineas and Ferb you'll like this show, and if you don't like early Phineas and Ferb than you won't. Also Milo, like Phineas, is a very static character who pretty much only has "happy." as his only emotion. But the show is still funny, having the same quick wit that Phineas and Ferb had, while also not be quite as formulaic. Note I said quite, as the show is still pretty formulaic, but not as much as Phineas and Ferb.  In other news there was a controversy going on where C.H Greenblatt called out Nickelodeon for how they treated there show, and was forced to issue a retraction against his own wished. I get why some people are so upset, but are people really surprised? Like C.H Greenblatt publicly insulted his bosses. What did he, or anyone else, think was going to happen. I'm sure if someone at Cartoon Network or Disney tried to call out the networks they would be told to make a retraction too. That's kinda what happens when your a notable figure and you publicly denounce your boss. And people are saying that this is proof that Nickelodeon is a terrible company to work at, to which I say "Um, yeah. Duh." The Loud House is the first Nickelodeon original series to be treated decently on the network in years, of course it's an awful place to work. The creator's behind "Legend of Korra" never made a formal address calling out Nickelodeon, but we don't need them to do that to know that they most likely weren't to thrilled with what the channel did to there show. I just don't get what the big deal is. I thought we all already knew this.  And in other news Young Justice was announced to get a third season and...wait, third season? Ha ha! Very funny guys and...wait, it's real? This is for real, this isn't a joke? OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! THIS CALLS FOR A DANK LOUD HOUSE MEME!
Tumblr media
(A Greg Weisman show got a third season and the very next day Donald Trump was announced our President. Ladies and Gentlemen Hell has officially frozen over!)  I'm excited. Very excited. We don't know where the show will air, but the most likely theory is Netflix. I am very happy about this.  So over Thanksgiving weekend Cartoon Network had a had a three day long Teen Titans Go! marathon. Seemed innocent enough, but then people started screaming how this was the DEATH OF CARTOON NETWORK! Apparently this marathon was proof that Cartoon Network only cares about Teen Titans Go! and the network is only going to continue to over saturate itself! People where furious about this marathon, and I really don't get it at all. I mean, I don't like Teen Titans Go!, but it's just a marathon for Thanksgiving. That's not really that strange. Remember when Cartoon Network use to marathon The Iron Giant twenty four hours on Thanksgiving? It's the same principle. Yes, Iron Giant is a lot better than Teen Titans Go! but it's not the end of the world. And while everybody was complaining about this marathon Disney XD did the exact same thing with Gravity Falls. They had another three day marathon in which they showed the series four times! Or FXX which did ANOTHER "Every Simpsons Ever" marathon for thirteen frickin days! How come those channels aren't being called out for over saturation? The only difference I see is that one is a show people online like, while the other is a show that people online hate. It was just a Thanksgiving marathon, not the end of the whole frickin world. If you don't like Cartoon Network's over saturation with Teen Titans Go! complain about the five hours of it that they show on days that aren't special occasions.  In other news Disney XD bought the rights to the entire Pokemon anime library, and is expected to start showing it sometime next year. It's really weird for me, cause growing up Cartoon Network always had Pokemon. I know Kids WB premiered it, but Cartoon Network always had the rerun rights. It'll be weird seeing it on Disney XD, though this is probably for the best honestly. Cartoon Network did not treat Pokemon right the last few years. It aired early on Saturday mornings and still got really high ratings, sometimes beating Uncle Grandpa and Powerpuff Girls 2016. Imagine how much better it would of done if it was advertised and given a good time slot. But Cartoon Network never did this. I think Disney XD will realize the potential Pokemon has, given there treatment of Yo-Kai Watch. I can see them giving it a good time slot, and rerunning it, and it doing good there. Also between Yo-Kai, Pokemon, and the upcoming Beyblade show that they acquired Disney XD's really getting quite a collection of Saturday Morning Anime. All they need to do is get Yu-Gi-Oh rights from Nickelodeon and they'll be set!  Then Cartoon Network unveiled there newest superhero cartoon, Justice League Action! Finally a DC show that isn't Teen Titans Go! and-Awwww Crap!
  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6anrDYEacg
(Well on the plus side, at least they advertised it.)  I was hyped for this show before it came out. Now I want to preface part by saying I've only seen the first four episodes of this show. That's what happens when you review a show that premiered in December. But judging it by what I've seen, I really like this show. It's a fun superhero comedy action show featuring a ton of characters both iconic and obscure. The episodes may be eleven minutes long, but this is an action show, but a lighthearted one. Think Batman Brave and the Bold meets the Justice League show form the early 2000's. The action is good, even though there are parts where you can tell they most likely had a smaller budget than say Young Justice. My only problems with the show is the pacing, (which isn't as bad as I thought it would be but still seems a bit rushed) and there are several plot holes just in the one hour special alone. But other than that the show is pretty solid. It's great to see an action superhero show on Cartoon Network again. So....how long you think It'll be before it get's replaced with Teen Titans Go! reruns?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTkFgj4dA1w
Now when I first planned this review out, I was intending to end with Justice League Action but then, literally just a few days ago, I decided to check out one more show for this review. That show would be the Netflix original series Trollhunters created by Guillermo del Toro.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2oNgZlbSKI  I want to preface this review by saying that as of the time of me writing this, I have only seen four episode of this show. So everything I say here should be taken with a grain of salt. If I wasn't on a deadline I wouldn't even be talking about this show yet, but since I am on a deadline let's talk about it. The show has a lot of good elements to it. It has great animation for a tv budget. (Well, not a tv budget, but still.) This show also has a great voice cast including the late Anton Yelchin, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, and Tom "I make all the fan girls wet" Hiddleston. The show has a nice sense of adventure and there is also a lot of creativity with the world building. Also Jim, our main protagonist, is a very likeable character. There's only one big problem, and this may go away as the show goes on, but the show uses a lot of cliches. It's another "kid is the chosen one, and he has to balance his secret life with high school, and he starts letting people down because of this. He has a fat comic relief best friend and all he want's to do is impress the pretty girl AND THE PROMS TOMORROW!" But again, they don't do these cliche's badly per say, they just don't add that much new to them. So far. Again, I've only seen four episodes so far, so please be spoiler free in the comments. I've heard good things about this show, so I'm assuming this improves as the series goes on. Or maybe it doesn't. I don't know. Check it out if your at all interested and find out for yourself.  So that was 2016 year on animation reviewed. It was quite a year! There was some bad, I'd maybe say even more bad than the average year, but there was a lot of good too. It was a wild ride and I'm looking forward to what 2017 brings to the table. So to cap this year off, allow me to present the top 9 best shows of 2016 (out of the ones I reviewed here!) We're just going to breeze through em, and keep in mind this list is a little bias, as shows from the earlier part of the year have a higher chance of winning me over than shows at the end of the year, due to me having seen more episodes of them. Ready? Here we go! 9. Mighty Magiswords 8. Powerpuff Girls 2016 7. Voltron: Legendary Defenders 6. Troll Hunters 5. The Loud House 4. Milo Murphy's Law 3. Justice Leauge Action 2. Camp Camp 1. RWBY Chibi   Though this is all subject to change. Also keep in mind that I'm not very good at ranking things. A lot of these things could be swapped around, as my opinion on things as specific as placement change very often, sometimes even day to day. So take this list with a grain of salt. Also keep in mid I haven't seen every show made in 2016, and missed out on a bunch of them. Like all of these ones!  (Bordertown, Brad Neely's Harg Nallin' Sclopio Peepio (Da hecks with that title?), Camp WWE, Dream Corp LLC. (Not fully animated but still), Elena of Avalor, Future Worm, Get Blake!, Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh, Kong: King of the Apes, Kuu Kuu Harajuku (Saw half an episode once, though I was on drugs), Legend of Chamberlain Heights, Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, My Knight and Me, Pacific Heat, Peanuts, Right Now Kapow, Son of Zorn (Also not fully animated, but still)  But hopefully I got most of the big ones. So that's my review. If I had to grade this year for animation, I'd give B-. Good, but could improve. I hope this list was able to act as a brief distraction from all of the tragedy that happened this year. I know these reviews don't do much but if these reviews are able to bring somebody a brief moment of joy, and make someone forget about there problems for a little bit and just make them laugh or see things from a different point of view, than it's all worth it. At least that's my point of view. What did you think of 2016 as a whole for animation? Leave your thoughts in the comments down bellow. I'd love to start a discussion, even if you disagree with some of the stuff I said. I think it's important to start conversations like this, otherwise you end up in an echo chamber. If you have thoughts on any of these shows or events tell me what you think. Please fav, follow and comment if you liked the review, (Cause if you can't tell I put a lot of work into it, so I'd be very appreciative!) And have a great year! (I do not own any of the images or videos in this review all credit goes to there original owners.) All credit for the "Lisa Ships Meme Blank" goes to https://www.deviantart.com/mixelfangirl100 It was a lot of fun to fill out, so here's the link to the original Lisa Ships Meme Blank

the only deaths I’ll be ok with
In order from most ok with to less ok with to PLEASE NO.
Hirst - I mean... BIATCH, she can be used as a sacrifice to the Gods or whatever, I don’t even care
Weitz - Useless piece of nothing, he’s only bad news
Nas - It’ll hurt like hell but it isn’t something we won’t get over it in, like... a few days. Sad but true
Blake - Like, she doesn’t even go here
Borden - Isn’t he like a zombie or something? srsly though, how dead should you be to be considered dead? go back to afghanistan, Nigel
Keaton - Yeah, you helped Jane but you tortured her and you’re shady and, yup, I’d mourn your death two seconds and then I’ll move on
Conor - The fuck? We don’t even know who he is but better him than Roman
Allison - I’ll cry because Weller will cry and he’ll mourn for months but that’ll be all, I never liked her too much and even though I can tolerate her now and that awful hairstyle, I’ll just... shrug it off
Boston - I’ll cry the fucking Niagara Falls if he follows the light at the end of the tunnel but we only see him a couple of times in the season so... Sorry Rich, I really am
Rich - If he dies, we’ll lose the only thing that isn’t drama in this show, but knowing him, I know he has recorded tons of videos of himself and the team will find them at some point so it’ll be as if he never left
Avery - I don’t even approve this death to be honest, I already love this girl but if they don’t send her abroad, then she has nothing to do in NYC that’s plot-relevant, but I hope they do send her abroad to Nepal so she can chill out for a moment and stop hating Jane
Roman - LORD FUCKING NO. First of all, Luke was killed in agents of a fucking shield that doesn’t work apparently because he ended up dead anyway, so he can’t die again, I mean, HE NEEDS A JOB. Second, the fuck? NO, Roman’s death is in no way a good thing or something that needs to happen, not even if he sacrifices for the people he loves, just no. Third, there’s a lot of things to be done with this character, can’t think of them right now but there are and if there aren’t, which I doubt, then THEY FUCKING MAKE THEM

Because I Said So (USA, 2007)
Tumblr media
Predictions: We kind of knew that Diane Keaton was Mandy Moore’s mom, so...maybe Diane Keaton says, “Because I said so” a lot???? Does she disapprove of some guy Mandy Moore is seeing? Is she an insufferable know-it-all? Hard to say.
Plot: We were definitely not wrong. It seems like “because I said so” is Diane Keaton’s catchphrase, and she does in fact disapprove of Mandy Moore’s life choices. She’s also really crazily preoccupied with the fact that Mandy Moore can’t lock down a man, largely (it seems) because of her own deep-seated insecurities (she wasn’t able to hang on to Dad and thus as a single mom raised three daughters and is now all alone). Apparently Diane Keaton can imagine nothing worse than Mandy Moore being single. Seems a bit much, but okay.
Anyway, Diane Keaton’s solution is to write a personal ad in order to vet a date for Mandy Moore. Yup, totally fine and normal thing for a mother to do. Most of the men who answer this ad are, of course, terrible, but she also happens upon Gabriel Macht, a fedora-wearing guitarist, who seems like he’s open to dating Mandy Moore. But Diane Keaton is like, “NOPE. CAN’T HAVE YOU. YOU’RE NOT A SERIOUS PROSPECT,” and ignores him in favor of Tom Everett Scott, an architect. Unbeknownst to Diane Keaton, though, Gabriel Macht sees Mandy Moore’s business card and decides to track her down himself. Yup, yup. Also super fine and normal. But whatever; it’s not like Diane Keaton notices, since she’s so busy masterminding Mandy Moore’s romance with Tom Everett Scott.
Mandy Moore ends up meeting and dating both men. Gabriel Macht has a kid and is, like, really obsessed with fedoras and terrible vests and lives by the Venice canals because somehow he can afford that???? Tom Everett Scott is an obnoxious snob who wants four kids, but he’s all fancy and shit, so it seems Mandy Moore’s kind of into that, too. Sidebar: at some point Diane Keaton meets Gabriel Macht’s dad and is pretty into him.
Of course, this man-juggling eventually bites Mandy Moore in the ass, because for some reason she’s never had a conversation with either guy about exclusivity???? Gabriel Macht catches her leaving a date with Tom Everett Scott and is like, “I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU ANYMORE,” and is a tiny bit slut-shame-y (auuuugh!!!! NO) -- though, it’s true, she should have told him. BUT THEN, she finds out that Tom Everett Scott was actually her mom’s plot all along and storms out. Yeah, okay. That’s understandable.
In the end, Diane Keaton apologizes and encourages Mandy Moore to go after the guy she really wants, which apparently is fedora-wearing Gabriel Macht. Diane Keaton ends up marrying Gabriel Macht’s dad (weird), and everyone lives happily (and slightly incestuously) ever after.
Best Scene: Wellllll, this movie was a little thin on good scenes...or lines...or characters or plot. Probably the best scene is when Mandy Moore breaks a plate in Gabriel Macht’s kitchen and kind of loses it, and Gabriel Macht, kindly and reasonably, is like, “It’s okay. We all have off days. Chill.” Even though Mandy Moore is your typical ridiculously klutzy romcom heroine (not just on her off days, mind you), he seems to accept her.
Worst Scene: At one point Diane Keaton has laryngitis and, incapable of taking care of herself (apparently), has a sleepover at Mandy Moore’s, where she asks her daughter what an orgasm feels like. Mandy Moore spends at least two to three minutes trying to describe it, and it’s...terrible. We have never been so uncomfortable in our own home/s.
Best Line: … *long silence; crickets*
Worst Line: “I love that when I breathe you in you smell like cake batter. And I love that you have this insane way of talking in circles that makes perfect sense.” — Gabriel Macht to Mandy Moore, at the end of the film. But honestly, this was only marginally worse than every other line. This movie was not good.
Highlights of the Watching Experience: This movie was so bad that we were able to write the plot summary while watching it. So much time saved! But really, spare yourself. Never see this.
How Many POC in the Film: Not a one that wasn’t racistly portrayed, from the Korean women working at the spa to the Indian guy who answers Diane Keaton’s ad. Yes, this happened to our eyeballs.
Alternate Scenes: Hmmmm. Well, Lauren Graham and Piper Perabo play Mandy Moore’s sisters, and they seem perfectly pleasant and normal. Lauren Graham was very charming as Lauren Graham, one of our favorite Lauren Graham roles. So, if you took out Diane Keaton and the men, and this was just a feel-good movie about three sisters -- Lauren Graham, Piper Perabo, and Mandy Moore -- we probably would have enjoyed it.
Was the Poster Better or Worse than the Film: Better. The poster very accurately represents the film and thus serves the practical purpose of warning viewers away (while the film itself serves no purpose at all). We could have seen this poster and said to ourselves, “Better not see this movie. It doesn’t look very good,” and so we would have saved ourselves. Alas, we have this blog, so, in spite of the poster’s warning... Sigh. How we suffer for our art.
Score: 3 out of 10 excessively-close-family smooches.
Ranking: 91, out of the 107 movies we’ve seen so far. This was worse than Jersey Girl. Let that sink in.
